Pros And Cons Of Electric Cars
The Pros and Cons of Electric Cars Cars have become the most common form of transportation that
individuals use in their day to day lives. Not only is there a selection of brands to choose from, there
are also different types of cars available to purchase, those being gasoline fueled, diesel fueled,
electric, and hybrid cars. Each car comes with a vast amount of differences, besides the obvious power
source. As well as the differences, each car also comes with its advantages and disadvantages.
However, as time has progressed electric cars have become more popular and in demand. But of
course with each popular and in demand item, there will certainly be pros and cons. The first
successful electric car made its appearance to the world over one hundred years ago, around 1890
thanks to William Morrison, a chemist who lived in Des Moines, Iowa. His six passenger vehicle
capable of a top speed of 14 miles per hour was little more than an electrified wagon, but it helped
spark interest in electric vehicles. (Matulka, 2012) Although their advantages were soon
overshadowed by gasoline driven automobiles, they slowly made a return in 2008 thanks to common
consumer, Tesla Motors. The electric cars grew and quickly gained popularity due to its energy
efficient nature and comparatively lower cost. In addition to the energy efficiency and lower costs,
electric vehicles are ecosystem friendly, smoothly driven, quiet, and quick, no tailpipe emissions and
last but not least, the electric

Slavery Is The Key For Achieving Freedom
In today s society, we take many things for granted because they come easy to us. Education, in many
of our lives, is something that is dreaded, something that we do only because we have to. But 200
years ago, things were much different. Slavery unfortunately existed in our society, and slaves weren t
granted the gift of education. By not having an education, they were not able to completely understand
their situation, and therefore unable to get out of it. Slaves had a limited option in achieving freedom,
and in order to do so, they had to become educated, enough to be able to understand slavery, and they
had to be religious to be able to see through the hypocrisy of the religious slaveholders.
For slaves, education is the key to achieving freedom. It develops one s sense of curiosity, and allows
the mind to question things, and to develop it s own ideas and opinions. For slaves, the gift of
education was rare, but if one was lucky enough to have it, they began to see the true nature of slavery,
and it made them more likely to try and become free. When Frederick Douglass was a young boy, he
befriended a few white children who gave him a glimpse of what having an education is like. When
remembering this important time in his life, he says, With their kindly aid, at different times and
different places, I finally succeeded in learning to read (66 67). The young boys gave Douglass a
book, called the Columbian Orator, the first book he had ever laid hands on. This

Rivers And Streams Receiving Urban Runoff Essay
Introduction
Rivers and streams receiving urban runoff have been shown to be toxic to aquatic species (e.g. H.
azteca), due to the presence of pyrethroids (Budd et al., 2007; Weston and Lydy, 2010; Weston et al,
2014). These pyrethroids are greatly toxic, with acute species mortality possible at even small
concentrations of one part per trillion (Weston and Jackson, 2009), yet urban runoff regularly contains
concentrations greater than 20 parts per trillion (Weston and Lydy, 2012). A significant part of the
runoff from urban areas encompassing Sacramento, California flows to the American River. Thus, the
toxic level of the rivers and tributaries of the American River and its sensitivity to aquatic species has
been studied through modeling efforts (Jorgenson et al, 2013). Urban runoff, which contains a
considerable amount of bifenthrin, a subset of pyrethroids, makes up a large portion of the river flow
after a storm event. Due to increased use of bifenthrin in Sacramento County, bifenthrin concentration
can be as high as 0.018 ppb, which is more than 5 times the 96 h middle effective concentration
(EC50) for loss of motion to most aquatic species (Weston et al., 2009; Holmes et al., 2008; Hintzen et
al., 2009; Weston and Lydy, 2010). The aggregated sum of pyrethroids active ingredient (A.I.) used by
licensed professional pesticide applicators in Sacramento County, California, was estimated as
4,025,246 lbs. in 2014, and among this, structural pest control and landscape

The Ethics Of The Advertising Industry
Persons and businesses are expected to have certain ethical standards which are controlled by a series
of ethical codes. This research is focused on the ethics of the advertising industry. Some questions will
be answered like: should companies be allowed to collect/sell client s info? Should targeted online
advertising on the basis of user s profile and demographics? Should there be a ban the sale of
surveillance technology to non democratic countries?
Keywords: targeted online advertising, surveillance technology, non democratic countries, false
advertising, ethical theories, code of ethics.
Ethics in the Advertising Industry.
Ethics is a set of moral principles on values that governs the conduct of an individual or group
(Cheeseman, 2006 p. 149). This paper reflects how ethical the different companies especially in the
advertising world are. It also analyze a given case with the theories of ethics to see which best fits into
the case description.
Violation of the Ethic Code.
Though companies and business persons are expected to follow ethical rules in the conduct of their
affairs and not to harm society, they don t always practice this discipline. Many companies are using
costumer s information to make a profit out of it. As a result, people are getting bombed with relevant
advertising and marketing campaigns. It is a tricky area because they are allowed to collect the
information in order to best determine the characteristics of their customers, and it could also help

Spirituality And Religion
The terms religion and spirituality can have both similarities and differences. Religion can be
explained as a set of beliefs that has structure and is practiced within a group or community. It
involves worshipping of superhuman beings, and often contains certain teachings in which its
believers/followers abide by and practice in everyday society. Although not all religions incorporate a
God , the Catholic Church is centred around the Triune God (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit). Catholic
teachings reflect the actions that God/Jesus displayed for the sake of humanity. Religious art, is
significant within a religion as it is considered to be a sacred material, in which provides proper
guidance and hope. Religious art provides many purposes such ... Show more content on

This art pictures Jesus as the Miracle Worker . This is explained in full in Matthew 12:22 33. This
story explains how Jesus sent the disciples by ship back to the other side of the Sea of Galilee after
they became caught in a wind storm. When the first saw Jesus on the water they were frightened. They
believed he was a ghost. Jesus said to them not to be afraid. In the Gospel of Matthew, Peter walked
on the water towards Jesus, but doubted himself and began to sink. Jesus reached out and caught him.
After Jesus entered the ship, the storm settled, and they arrived at land. Christian teachings consider
the story a miracle and displays the importance of faith. Peter didn t believe he could achieve what he
set out to do, and ultimately due to this he didn t succeed. This sacred story is another example of how
religion provides certain ways to live to benefit yourself and others. This interacts with spirituality as
these teachings allow people to develop personally and have a better state of mind. The main symbol
evident is the light that appears out of the darkness when Jesus appears on the surface of the water.
This symbol represents hope as Jesus has come to rescue them from the storm. The light also appeared
as Jesus calmed the storm and so the light would be perceived as a symbol for life and happiness as

Narrative What Are Ghosts Essay
In the middle of the night I was sound asleep, until I got this weird sensation throughout my mind that
made me feel like I was being watched and awoke. When I sat up I noticed an average looking man
standing in the darkness of my bedroom. Frightened, I grabbed my blanket, moved closer to the wall,
and followed the man with my wide open eyes. Eventually, he made his way into my half open closet
door. I ran to turn the light on faster than a wimpy kid who punched the tough guy in school. Unlike
most people would, I went straight to the closet door; when I opened the door, I found nothing. It s
easy to assume that I didn t get too much sleep that night. I am not positive what happened during that
mind puzzling night, but I think the man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many factors that contribute to the transformation of a spirit: whether or not one did good
deeds, the amount of spiritual practice, destiny, death cause, funeral, spiritual rituals, self esteem, have
desires that weren t fulfilled, negative thoughts, anger, harmed people during lifetime, or doesn t have
spiritual thoughts or practices (What Are Ghosts). Occasionally, the ghost will attach to a person,
place or object.
Some ghosts are rather weak and highly dependent on the place or person they are attached to. They
are sometimes called earthbound spirits. Some other ghosts have gained so much energy that they can
move around and even make objects move with their energy. These are called poltergeists. (What to
Do)
Poltergeists are one kind of ghost that one would not enjoy to have in their company. Very strong
poltergeists have a limited ability to slam doors or make objects fall on your head (What to Do). They
derive pleasure out of exerting control over and tormenting humans and other subtle bodies (What Are
Ghosts). Ghosts take the energy from their victim s breath and use the breath to provide the them with
energy. Ghosts that had addictions to chemicals, such as addictive drugs and alcohol, will feed off of
humans with a similar addiction (Spiritual Compass). Spirits can feed off of your fear (Spiritual
Compass). Emotionally they can scare you, but only if you are afraid of them (What to Do). The fear

My Social Identities Portrait Assignment Essay
My Social Identities Portrait Assignment
1. Race: People of color Bi or multiracial people and families.
My father is Mexican, and my mother is White. I was born in California, however, when was 4 yrs.
old we moved to Mexico. We did not returned to the United States till I turned 15 yrs. old. Although
my first language was English, once I moved to Mexico, I became fluent in Spanish. Life coming back
to America was hard, I did understand English perfectly since my mother always spoke to us in
English, however, and I could no longer speak it. I was placed in ELL classes, and although I was very
smart in many subjects, because I did not speak English, I was placed in easy classes, where we did
nothing. They focus so much on learning the language that they fail to teach you. I survived; however,
I knew the other classmates looked down at us. They would not speak to us, and they will make rude
racial comments when referring to any of us.
2. Ethnicity/Heritage: All other defined or recognizable ethnicities.
Every time I fill any paper work, and they ask the question, Ethnicity? I automatically feel I am being
judge just by where I came from. Although, I am half white, people do not care, I even ponder if its
worse if you are from a multiracial family. Discrimination makes life harder; and if you are proud of
your heritage, and your not afraid to show it, you get even more discriminated against.
3. Language: Home language other than English. Mine is Spanish.

Hip Flexor Moment Lab Report
From cite{aus} and cite{childers2012measurement} the biomechanics of the hip is studied. When
we walk, during the initial contact the hip moves towards extension. However once the heel contacts
the ground range of extension reduces. With short stump it stays in flexion.
The peak hip extension occurs late as compared to a normal gait which is $~65%$ stride c/w $55%$.
This happens as an attempt to increase the step length of the intact limb when no prosthetic push off is
present. The work of the concentric hip extensor is to create the hip extensor moment. This hip
extensor moment is also seen to be higher than in the case of normal gait. This is prominent in the first
half of the stance where extension of the knee an d the hip happens. ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
The tendency seen is higher power generation in shorter period of time in comparison with normal.
The power required to lift a prosthesis may only be $30 40%$ of the weight of a normal limb and it is
this power generated in short period of time. The hip torque required during preswing and early swing
is observed to be less in knees with damping and stance resistance. This is due more anteriorally
aligned knee axis. This is required to increase the extension moment during heel contact. But at the
same time, due to this alignment initiating flexion in preswing and early swing is a challenge.
During late swing the range of hip flexion is observed to be greater than normal that is at all walking
speeds. Also the amount of hip flexor activity was observed to be higher. These factors however
increase the step length. By keeping the hip flexing the extending knee can be decelerated to reduce
terminal impact.
%Some amputees with constant friction knees transitioned from hip flexion, to extension, to flexion
again, possibly to assist in knee extension by reversing the direction of the thigh.

Keurig Case Study
Keurig Case Study
I. Overview
Meaning excellence in Dutch, Keurig, was founded in 1990 by Peter Dragone and John Sylvan. The
founders were on a highly caffeinated mission to completely alter the coffee industry with the
underlying belief that coffee should be served fresh by the cup. They wanted to bring the gourmet
coffeehouse experience to both the home and the office. Dragone and Sylvan wished to not only make
this possible, but to do so in a satisfying, convenient and efficient way.
In 1998, Keurig released their first single serve brewing coffee machine. The machine could also serve
a cup of hot tea or hot cocoa. In 2006, Keurig merged with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR),
which would later lead Keurig to becoming a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Porter s Five Forces
a) Threat of New Entrants
As competition in the single cup brewing market continues to increase, the barrier to entry remains
relatively low. This encourages competitors to enter the market. The competitors are aware that
creating a lower cost brewing machine that can brew coffee in the pod style (non patented) would give
them a competitive advantage over Keurig, whose products are considered quite expensive. Three
main competitors include Nestle, Starbucks, Kraft and Mars. All three companies have greater
financial, marketing and operating resources.
b) Bargaining Power of Suppliers
Keurig has a low concentration of suppliers, which therefore limits the bargaining power of these
suppliers.
c) Bargaining Power of Buyers
Buyers ultimately have more bargaining power than the suppliers. This is because Keurig will be more
interested in keeping consumers happy so that they can maintain relationships and brand loyalty. For
example, consumers can demand new flavors of coffee that fit their personal preference.
d) Threats of Substitute
The threat of substitutes is relatively low solely because of the fact that there is a limited number of
substitutes. Keurig is the top Single brewer coffee machine.
e) Intensity of Rivalry
Companies are more apt to work with Keurig in hopes of making K cups in their own coffee to be
used by the Keurig single cup brewer. This is more of an

Vyse s The Sculptor
The Sculptor
No longer a student, but reluctant to return to the Potteries, and what Vyse described as its stifling
artistic environment. He would stay in London and become a fine art sculptor. This was a brave
decision by Vyse. The position of a modeller was open for Vyse at the Doulton Art Studio, Burslem.
Emphatic in his rejection, for him modelling in Burslem was out of the question. Vyse liked to boast
that he had once studied with his friend Septimus Bennett, the younger brother of author Arnold
Bennett. Later, Vyse would say about him scathingly, Septimus went back to work in the Potteries, not
me, I stuck it out in London. Not having a studio of his own, this period of his career proved to be
hard one for Vyse. He found some work as a freelance sculptor, and eventually he found working

Royal Academy Exhibitions
In 1911, Vyse aged twenty nine, submitted three works to the Royal Academy, the maximum number
allowed under the rules prevailing at the time. Exhibition rules for works of sculpture were rigorous,
in ways unthinkable today. Figurative sculpture, the RA reasoned, was either well modelled or badly
modelled and its presentation within a certain format and genre, and was to be assessed on the quality
of its interpretation. Vyse exhibited a group work titled The Kiss RA1857, a sensitive study of a nude
couple caught up in an intimate embrace (see page 9). A second figure Aphrodite RA782, also a nude,
the whereabouts of this work is presently unknown. His final exhibit, was a portrait statuette of
Elizabeth Gurney Fry, RA1759 (1780 1845). Desmond Eyles, in his book Royal Doulton Figures,
hypothesised that Vyse had based his design, on Alfred Drury s (1856 1944) model. Eyles however,
has muddied the water by a simple matter of attribution dates. His conjecture has a basis in the

Hunger Games Movie Analysis
CLOSE UPS The movie that I chose to analyze is The Hunger Games. This movie is about a girl,
Katniss Everdeen, who volunteers as tribute for the seventy fourth annual Hunger Games in the place
of her sister, Primrose Everdeen, whose name was picked and announced at the reaping. Katniss, the
protagonist played by Jennifer Lawrence, is forced to go outside of her comfort zone when she has to
make friends and train to kill people in order to win the Games and come home to her sister, Primrose,
who is played by Willow Shields. The Hunger Games was directed by Gary Ross and was released on
March 23rd, 2012. The year that this movie was made, a Canadian filmmaker, named James Cameron,
became the first person to visit Challenger Deep, the US President Barack Obama secured Democratic
presidential nomination, and The Avengers premiered in Los Angeles. Watching this movie, now in
2017, still gives me the same feeling it did when I watched it for the first time in 2012. I can see that
the cast and crew for The Hunger Games were picked out carefully. That being said, I thought this
movie was marvelous. The crew did a great job with the elements used in determining the type of
movie, mise en scene, cinematography, acting, editing, and sound. There are many types of movies,
such as narrative movies, documentary movies, and experimental movies. This movie is an example of
a narrative movie. This movie is fiction and entertains most people. Narrative films may be broken

The Impact Of The Kyoto Protocol
The current status of the Paris Agreement is accompanied with very high aspirations in limiting
emissions to relatively safe levels. It lies with a new style of international cooperation, one that has
allowed 195 countries to adopt an agreement that is likely to have a significant impact on the
emissions that breaks new ground in international climate policy, by setting free to make their own
commitments. However, the global surface temperatures are predicted to rise by are predicted to rise
by 3 4 °C, far above the agreement s goal of limiting increases to 1.5 °C. This implies that chances of
success for Paris will be determined by the overall efforts to reinforce or integrate these nonbinding

In fact, both China and India s emissions increased dramatically as well as the United States is ranked
as the largest emitter per capita in the world. The absence of these three countries made treaty not as
successful. Furthermore, the system was relatively less flexible, which could be another reason the
Kyoto Protocol failed. Less flexibility is based on the concept of strictly binding commitments that
would lead countries offering conservative promises that ultimately have no real impacts on
combating emissions. In contrast, the nations approached with a new style of the treaty that aligns
with their self interests made deeper cooperation. Instead of tailoring the agreement with the
traditional top down approach where countries are centralized with a concept that the starting point of
creating a solution is to develop one concrete collective goal to resolve the issue, which was a stagnant
process with mere achievements, Paris fully implemented the model of nationally determined
contributions. By creating their own commitments, it brought greater flexibility. Divisions between the
so called developed and developing worlds were one of the major causes to yield the meager results

So, company is increasing output and company is breaking bottleneck. If company breaks bottleneck,
company is improving production and reduce constraint in your system. So the end result is that

Essay about Private Property
The ideology behind what private property represents and conveys through the theories of both Locke
and Marx s results in contrasting views. Locke heavily stresses the blending of labor and common
land to create private property to increase one s wealth. Liberty and livelihood under Locke s theory is
tied to the ability of an individual to control the use of their private property. Marx s theory strongly
contends that the bourgeoisie has gained control of the profit making private properties leaving the
working class in a stage of exploitation. Marx s conclusion then is to set private property in the hands
of the people in hopes of creating universal economic equality. Respectively each thesis places
governments, labour and religion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marx s model of private property views it as means of production creating a division of labor. In his
theory, Marx takes a look and how private property, along with wealth, are funneled into the hands of
the few leaving the ordinary worker unable to gain wealth from private property. The outcome of
Marx s principle can be seen especially in the last 30 years in the US with the increase of inequality
and access to wealth to unprecedented numbers (USA 11).
When examining both theories about private property one cannot go without recognizing the
important role that labour plays. Locke who considers labour the cornerstone of man s ability to
provide upon himself and that the act itself is so important labour indeed that puts the difference of
value on every thing (MPT 297). Locke s belief that every man is born into the world with an equal
amount of capability with labour as the main variable determining success. Marx s writings take a
look at where private property comes from and who is the beneficiary of such a product. This is where
labour is introduced into his analyzes of private property and the concept of externalized labor, that is,
externalized man, alienated labor, alienated life and alienated man (MPT 771). Marx s theories look
into the exploitation of one social group, the proletarians, by the wealthy class, the bourgeois that is
now in the open due to the structure of capitalism. The workers eventually

The Birds Nest Stadium
1.0 Project Description
The Beijing National Stadium, better known as the Birds Nest Stadium is a sporting facility which was
purposefully built for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. This stadium is known for using tonnes of
steel (up to 42,000 tonnes) to produce a stadium that resembles a Birds Nest as shown in the figure
below (Bell,2017). Figure 1 Birds Nest Stadium (Bell,2017)
The stadium could fit up to 91,000 people inside and clever design by the architectural firm Herzog de
Meuron allowed for this stadium to go down as one of the architectural wonders of the world
(Bell,2017). The project began in October of 2002 with an invitation for bidders opened by the BDPC
which allowed for companies to submit tender prices for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Other inputs to the estimate include Human Resource Plan, Risk Register and Organisational Process
Assets (Peebles,2017). All these inputs that the CITIC consortium used would help formulate the
estimation of cost that would be supplied in the tender process to the BDPC.
2.2 Tools and Techniques
Using the inputs above combined with specialised tools and techniques, the CITIC Consortium came
up with an outputted estimated cost to submit for the tender. These tools are as follows. High quality
personnel were trained for estimates and the company (CITIC Consortium) had a finance department
used for estimating projects (Chinyere,2013). This team was used throughout the whole project and
because of their background in estimating, this meant that they had expert judgement on what
activities could be done and for what price. Other techniques the team used include computer software
which could generate estimates on prices using historical information and previous projects that the
team had done (Chinyere, 2013). In regards to project cost management theory, analogous estimating
and parametric estimating are seen to be better so using these might have given the company a better
estimate on the Birds Nest Stadium project (Hueber, 2015).

Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders
The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and takes
things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on different
circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional illnesses that can
be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic therapists are based off of
Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as addictions, eating disorders and
depression by considering how previous experiences have been taken into your thought process and
dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we think and how we act in response to
those thoughts in either a negative or positive way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple
reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on
books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person
takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and
the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the
person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this
is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they
actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient
doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie
and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will
Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around
and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his
therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his
walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time
and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why
therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to the
inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the person, not
the environment, which what we re a main

In Praise Of Margins By Ian Frazier
In the essay, In Praise of Margins Ian Frazier constantly mentions the importance of marginal behavior
within places and activities as he interprets this concept as an aimless wonder that essentially does not
provide anything for the economic world. I agree with Frazier s claims as demonstrated through the
potential of margins in discovering new ideas, assisting creativity, and helping others get out of their
comfort zones. This is established throughout the essay as a way encourage the reader to pursue
activities or places for the purpose of pure happiness. One of the reoccurring scenes throughout the
article is the woods, which is utilized to express the youth of Frazier as a, Blue Sky Research area. He
elaborates this idea in the essay where he states, The margin is where you can try out odd ideas that
you might be afraid to with people looking on . It is vivid that Frazier is seeking to communicate to
the reader the benefits of marginal activities as well as the reasoning being such an activity. This can
be exemplified through a personal experience where I was participating in a marginal activity by
aimlessly listening to music throughout a classroom session, which as a result, would allow me to
perform higher academically. This relates to the argument that Frazier was attempting to convey of
how marginalize activities can be some of the most essential, as I was able to realize this effect on me
and suggest the idea to my teacher which then lead to a positive

Ashley Merryman Losing Is Good For You Analysis
In Losing is Good for You , Ashley Merryman instills the idea that society celebrates the essence of
success that children achieve in any aspect of their life whether they deserve it or not. Merryman
further explains that by celebrating success or, more importantly, the idea that every child is a winner,
society takes away the fundamental ideas of hard work. Merryman states that as society limits the
opportunity for children to experience failure, this leads to the destruction of the core beliefs of what
is the true meaning of winning is and undermines overall determination, and it lowers the desire for
children to work hard. Overall, I support Merryman s claim that society rewards all participants
despite their qualifications to hold the title of a winner . Today the term winner has become a cliché
where people have driven the idea of success to the brink of extinction. Meaning, that society has over
produced the idea of a winner to the extent that some other title would have to replace the phrase
Congratulations, you are a winner . Personally, I believe that Merryman demonstrates the effect that as
children are constantly provided trophies, certificates, and other methods of reward, each of these
materials tend to tamper with the foundation of the meaning of being a true victor. Merryman states
that, nonstop recognition does not inspire children to succeed. Instead it causes them to under achieve;
with this statement, Merryman shows the key idea that as children

Socio Economic Inequality Factors Towards Health

SWLF 1006 Serena Kataoka: Final Essay
April 6, 2016
Socioeconomics, as defined by The American Psychological Association, is commonly conceptualized
as the social standing or class of an individual or group. It is often measured as a combination of
education, income and occupation. Socioeconomic inequality is the mal and unequal treatment of
individuals. Typically, based on the amount of income they are able to obtain, basic human needs such
as health care, education, adequate housing and other social services become unavailable. In this essay

greater chance of passing away each year, and 52 percent of less fortunate females have a greater

that if all Canadians were as healthy as the top 20 percent of income earners, there would be
approximately 40,000 fewer deaths each year. (Bryant, 2014, para. 4) According to the US Census
Bureau the average American is making approximately $50,756 each year. In America income
equality has a factor on a numerous amount of things. Not only are the paychecks very unequal, the
lifespan of rich people are increasingly longer than the lifespan of the poor American people.
According to Hamilton Health Sciences by the late 1990s the rich were living 4.5 years longer, and the

Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple Analysis
The Hsi Lai Buddhist temple is located in Hacienda Heights and is the largest Buddhist temple in the
West. The building was constructed to be a religious site by a Buddhist organization in Taiwan. The
first thing that catches the attention, is the Chinese architecture of the temple and all of the Chinese
words on the outside of the temple. The words on the four pillars of the gate, represent the four
Bodhisattva vows the Buddhists take to complete enlightenment. There are many rooms on the outside
of the temple that look like they may be used for teaching or for programs being run at the temple.

The temple contains the images of many bodhisattvas,Buddha s, and disciples. The images of the
Buddha s and bodhisattvas are the focus of the rooms and outside. For example, in the main shrine and
Bodhisattva hall, the focus are the images. Another example is the garden of the eighteen arhats in
which the Buddha is surrounded by his first disciples. The other garden that is in the temple is the
Vessel of Compassion for Universal Liberation. The main image in this garden is that of
Avalofitesvara Bodhisattva. The other images depicted are of heaven kings. The bodhisattva is
important because the vows of this Bodhisattva are of a compassionate mind and the power of
wisdom. This bodhisattva answers the prayers of sentient beings no matter where they are and
manifests in different forms. These eighteen arhats extinguished all defilements and afflictions. They
had reached nirvana and their righteousness is exemplary to all Buddhists. Comparatively, symbols
play an important role in buddhism and we can see this through the offers made to the Buddha s and
bodhisattvas. For example, incense symbolizes inner peace, a lamp offering symbolizes the
brightening of our vision and the enhancement of our wisdom. In addition, in the images, mudras or
certain objects are a symbol of important rules to follow. Such as in image of the Bodhisattva
Samantabhadra, the elephant symbolizes practice. The sounds that are used are that of instruments
during the service in the main shrine and the sound of bells which usually mark the initiation of a
service or other announcements. Furthermore, the smells that are used throughout the temple are
incense. Incense is used as an offering and it is meant to help the Buddhist concentrate and focus on
meditating. Lastly, taste is used in the ritual of eating vegetarian meals

Yes, female economy could play fruitful role in future for different companies in term of increase
sales/revenue. Because according to Harvard Business Review women represent one of the largest
market opportunities in the world. The numbers of female workers are increasing day by day, till the
end of 2014, more than $28 trillion consumer spending will belong to females all over the world and
the income of females could cross $18 trillion during same period which is two times bigger than
China and India combined G.D.P. All big companies are more likely to target female customers but the
biggest potential of female buyers lies on six main industries where companies could get more
revenue by targeting females. In four industries females are most likely to spend more in Food,
Fitness, Beauty and Apparel and rest of two industries are Financial Services and Health Care where
women are not satisfied. Companies are belonged to these six industries have got big opportunity to
generate huge revenues by capturing the interest of working women.
Food Industry
Food is representing one of the largest opportunities because large numbers of female buyers are
involved in grocery shopping and meal preparation. I talk about Pakistan; next 15 to 20 years Pakistan
will also become emerging female market, female will be more independent for purchasing because

Essay about Strategic Use of Dialogue in Euripides Medea
Strategic Use of Dialogue in Euripides Medea
Euripides employs the technique of dialogue between two solo actors on stage throughout Medea to
dramatize the core values underlying these conversations. In particular, through the conversations that
Medea holds with three different males, she shows herself to be a person of great intellect. Females
were rarely valued for their intelligence because the Athenians had a complacent pride in the
superiority of the Greek masculinity (page 641 ). Men and women were considered to have very
different roles in society with men being the far superior species. Thus, Euripides uses Medea s [Note

Thus, Medea gains control of the conversation, and she is able to make Kreon conform to her agenda.
Throughout this dialogue, Medea : I maintains her composure, which allows her intelligence to
become apparent through her persuasive speech.
Yet the way in which Medea boldly interacts with Kreon would most likely be a shocking sight for the
audience. Remember that Kreon is the King of Corinth, the most powerful man in the nation state. Yet
Medea, a foreign woman, is standing before him in an attempt to persuade him to alter his decision
about her exile. Furthermore, Medea manipulates their conversation, so that Kreon will verify her
ultimate wish. As the importance of the discussion increases, the dialogue becomes a series of single
lines spoken back and forth between Medea and Kreon. With the level of intensity rising, Medea first
seems to plead with Kreon to allow her to remain in Corinth permanently. Kreon refuses the proposal
because he knows her to be a powerful woman capable of great evils; however, she then states that her
true desire is to stay in Corinth for this one day (337). This seems like a minor request to Kreon, so he
surrenders his will and grants Medea the right to remain in Corinth for one more day. Thus, Kreon
gives Medea the window of time that she needs to murder his young daughter and himself. Kreon s
decision will lead to his demise and is the stepping stone on which Medea will be able to accomplish
her revenge in

on Oct.9, 2008, which has been the biggest single cut since 1992, in respond to the severe
international financial condition and regional economic slow down,. However, it does not mean that
we can escape from the crisis. The risk in the current financial market is quite high, particularly the
banking sector. Therefore, investment decision requires proper prudence.
Ratio Analysis
WBC and CBA vary in their sizes of assets, retained earnings and other financial figures. Ratio
analysis can effectively eliminate the issue of different sizes and makes the comparison more relevant.
In our investment decision making process, relevant ratios such as percentage return, reward to risk
ratio, P/E ratios and so on will be discussed and evaluated in this section.
Return Measurement: Percentage Return
Percentage return is always an issue concerned by the investors, which measures the rewards can be
earned on the investment. According to Christensen et al (2007, P336), percentage return consists of
dividend yield and capital gain yield. Appendix 2 is extracted from Fin Analysis (Aspect Huntley,

Due to the new small brands, Adidas promotes its own brands, making additional advertisements for

promotion strategy also concentrates on an average consumer who has or may have no connection

give some advantages for products promotion, comparing to Nike.
Adidas uses high low pricing method as a key instrument of price regulation. First, the company sells
new goods using the high price, but offers significant discounts, which make the price lower up to
50% (Seroka amp; Love Johnson 2005). On the one hand, the point of this strategy is to demonstrate
customers the availability of the products and the company s loyal attitude to its clients. On the other
hand, Nike tries to offer an average price on its products. Hence, a Nike s brand may cost up to 20%
cheaper than a similar product introduced by Adidas (Holmes amp; Bernstein 2004). In fact, both
companies will receive almost the same revenue for a new product line, but the amount of the profit
will be different at the beginning and at the end of the selling.
In conclusion, it can be said that both companies do well and have their own loyal customers. Despite
the differences in the marketing strategies, they are able to stay on the top of the global market. From
my point of view, Nike should pay more

Questions On The Quantification Of Light Absorption And...
Quantification of 〖Cr〗^(3+) and 〖Co〗^(2+)in a Mixture
Natalia Nole
Last updated: September 12, 2016
Purpose
Let s assume that we have two solutions, a clear and a colored one, whose concentrations and
identities are unknown. If we shine some light of some intensity towards them; some of this light will
go through and some of it will be absorbed. This is important because based on the amount of light
absorbed by the solutions we can calculate their concentrations. This important and simple principle is
known as Beer s Lambert law; which states that the absorbance is proportional to the product of the
path length, the molar absorptivity and the concentration of a solution. The product of molar
absorptivity times path length gives the value of K, which is the slope. (Equation below)
A = Ɛ.Ɩ. C
K = Ɛ.Ɩ.
A=K×C
Spectrophotometry is the quantitative measurement of light absorption and transmittance as a function
of a wavelength. The instrument used for spectrophotometry is called the spectrophotometer, and the
way it works is as follows. Let s say we have a source of light, which normally is a deuterium lamp.
The beam of light projected by the bulb will hit the diffraction gradient, which looks like a prism.
Diffraction gradient will adjust so that only a specific wavelength will make it through an exit slit that
eventually hits the sample, whose identity and concentration is unknown. Light absorbed and/or
transmitted by the sample will be sensed by the detector which will be

The Globalization Of Globalization
Based on Sparke s textbook, Globalization can be defined as the extension, acceleration, and
intensification of consequential worldwide global interconnections. This is what he refers to as little g
globalization. These global interconnections reveal the ties and tensions of globalization. There is also
big G globalization which is what Sparke calls using globalization as a buzzword in a political
context. A big part of globalization is commodities and commodity chains. A commodity can be
simply defined as anything that is bought or sold while a commodity chain is the production process
that produces these commodities. Understanding commodities and commodity chains is important to
be able to understand globalization. One example of how commodities demonstrate globalization is
outsourcing and offshoring. By doing this, companies bring their companies overseas which means
that they are interconnected with other parts of the world. Understanding commodity chains can also
allow you to understand the ties and tensions. I decided to focus on the apparel industry and the
commodity of a piece of clothing. This commodity shows some of the tensions related to labor, like
constantly searching for the cheapest labor, and tensions related to the environment, like pollution
from the clothing industry. A piece of clothing also shows ties through, for instance, in which
countries clothes are produced and to which countries they are being exported to. The article Indian

Professor Compagnoni effectively outlined the characteristics of different legal systems in Class IV,
and rereading her class slides was helpful in understanding the subtleties of legal system associated
with my source text, French Civil Law, based on the Napoleonic code (code civil of 1804). I then
related that to the legal system as it functions in Canada, making note of the most prominent
differences, and being cognizant of those as I embarked upon my translation. N.B.: In my view, the
term legal system refers to the nature and content of the law generally, and the structures and methods
whereby it is legislated upon, adjudicated upon and administered, within a given jurisdiction.
Common law and civil law legal traditions share similar social objectives (individualism, liberalism
and personal rights), but they diverge in several key areas. In terms of understanding how legal
systems intertwine here in Canada, all of the provinces and territories, except Quebec, follow the
common law system. The Quebec Act of 1774 made Canada a bijural country (which means it has two
types of law). Outside of Quebec, private law is governed by the common law, and in Quebec, private

Essay On Canadian Flag
National Symbols Assignment 7
The Canadian Flag The Canadian Flag features a red field with a large white square in the middle.
Within that white square is an 11 pointed red maple leaf. The red on the Canadian flag represents
those who sacrificed their lives during our two world wars. The white on our flag represents the
tranquility and peace that Canadians exemplify in the lives we live each day. Also, in 1921, King
George V declared red and white as the official national colours of Canada. Our red maple leaf is the
only symbol on our flag. This maple leaf was apart of George Stanley s concept of our modern flag as
it was very similar to the flag of the Royal Military College of Canada. It represents unity, tolerance,

Essay On Heart Disease
Research Methods
This research study is an attempt to increasing the understanding of heart disease through nursing
intervention with the hope of attaining better guidelines for the care of patients, families, and
communities. The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the research methodology for collecting,
analyzing, and presenting data. It will also expound on the assumptions made during the study and
limitations of the data collected. Finally, it will give a recap of the study s findings and
recommendations for future research.
Research Design
The research study is a comparative descriptive design. Comparative descriptive study designs are
useful for identifying the risk factors that may be associated with a disease condition. When specific ...

The paired t test is a statistical analysis test used to determine if the mean difference between two sets
of data is zero. During the study, each participant will be interviewed twice, creating a before and after
situation. The paired t test will then compare the mean values from two samples (Surkis Read, 2015).
Statistical significance and practical significance are important when interpreting the results.
Statistical significance is determined by examining the p value. The lower the p value, the lower the
probability of the null hypothesis being correct. This reflects the low probability that conclusions were
determined by chance. Practical significance depends on the participants refers to the relationship
between the data and real life situations. During the data analysis, results can be statistically
significant but not practically significant. Both types are required to obtain valuable conclusions.
Assumptions of the Study
Assumptions for this research study are that the participants will answer the interview questions in an
honest and candid manner. The inclusion criteria of the sample are appropriate and therefore, assures
that the participants have all experienced the same or similar phenomenon of the study. The research
assumed that all women had attained an education level that can help them interpret and understand
simple texts and phrases. It is for this reason that it included women aged 30 and 55 years

Case Study On Neural Machine Translation
Facebook partnered with Bing in 2011 for translation services, making it an early pioneer in the move
toward neural machine translation.
In December 2015, Facebook dropped Bing and began to outsource its translation services while
developing its own translation technologies.
Facebook s own neural machine translator went fully operational on August 3, 2017.
Overview
Hello and thank you for your question about Facebook neural machine translation. The short version
is that Facebook has been moving toward integrating their own translation technology since 2011, and
have recently (August 2017) gone fully operational with their own Neural Machine Translator. Below
you will find a deep dive of our findings.
METHODOLOGY
Our goal for this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Facebook was an early pioneer of online translation when in 2011 it started using automated systems
to translate users posts and comments in the News Feed. Facebook used Bing initially because they
didn t yet have their own technology.
In January 2015, Facebook open sourced Torch (their deep learning library). Facebook explains
TORCH as an open source development environment for numerics, machine learning, and computer
vision. Many projects on machine learning and AI at FAIR (Facebook AI Research) use Torch.
Also in 2015, Facebook acquired Wit.ai, a startup using understanding of natural language in
text/voice to power user interfaces.
In December 2015, Facebook dropped Bing and started using its own translation technology. The issue
was that Bing was built to translate more properly written website text, not human slang. Facebook
stated that the disconnect between the languages people speak and the content they want to connect to
on the Internet is what made them want to create their own neural network based machine translation
(MT) system.
Also in Dec 2015, Facebook opensourced it s hardware designs for anyone to explore through the
Open Compute Project. The server was called BigSur, which is described as servers with graphics
processing units (GPUs), which have become the chip of choice for deep learning.
Later, in June 2016, Facebook stated that Statistical

Child Trafficking Is A Universal Issue
According to the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women
and Children (2000), child trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt
of children for the purpose of exploitation. It is a violation of their rights, their well being and denies
them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Cathy Paris once said, Truthfully, human trafficking
is just a polite way to say modern day slavery. That being said, no human is adequate to legislate and
alternate a fellow human, without that humans assent. Even though slavery was abolished centuries
ago, it still lingers on secretly in many countries in the world. Unfortunately, Child trafficking is a
universal issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the World Bank report Ghana has a population of approximately 25.90 million and GDP
of 47.93 billion dollars in 2013(Worldbank.org, 2014). That goes to say that there should be enough
resources to be able to implement full measures to invest in education and job creation so as to
alleviate poverty in the country. For most non Western countries, the reasons why most of these
important issues are overlooked is because of systemic corruption.
Corruption is the only logic answer that can explain the neglect of this phenomenon. Tragically, the
legislature of Ghana and in addition other African nations permits and supports these misbehaviors.
Degenerate practices are sought after for own self increase. Thus the reasons explicable for the growth
of Child trafficking in Ghana are neglect by the government, the fear of the cost to be incurred by the
government if child trafficking is to be tackled and finally the absence of an effective the rule of law
in Ghana. Corruption is ultimately the only logic reason why all the factors mentioned above would
thrive. Since the economy of Ghana is steadily growing, why is this prevalent in the rural areas?
Through analysis of the topic of Child Trafficking in Ghana I argue that even though it is not yet a
widespread issue, as we know corruption to erode, in years to come if measures are not put into place,
it will become a nationwide calamity. Therefore, the objective of this

Tb Is An Infectious Disease
What is TB?
TB is an infectious disease. This means that disease causing pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi
and protoctists, attack and contaminates the host s cells, then spreads to other cells within the body.
Pathogens can be spread in many different ways which are: horizontal/vertical the disease is passed
through to the baby from the mother, either from the placenta or breast feeding; direct when you come
in direct contact with the pathogen; waterborne the disease comes from water you drink; food you eat
an infected item; vector another animal transfers it to you; airborne, the disease circulates through the
air.
TB is caused by an airborne bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It can be passed from ...

This will cause chest pains and night sweats.
TB is more likely to develop if you have HIV/AIDS, are an alcoholic, abuse drugs, or live in damp,
overcrowded conditions. People with weaker immune systems, are also more susceptible.
How to avoid the spread of the disease
A vaccine containing a weakened version of the bacterium has been produced, called Bacille Calmet
Guerin (BCG) to prevent the spread of TB. This is often given to people aged 16 35 and those more
likely to catch the disease, i.e. people travelling to, and staying in, countries where the infection is
more likely to occur, healthcare practitioners, homeless shelter workers and immigrant hostel workers.
Whilst working with an active TB patient, the spread of this disease can be easily avoided by washing
hands, before and after a task is completed, wearing the appropriate P.P.E. (personal protective
equipment), and making sure it is clean, never using needles more than once, and correctly disposing
of them. Surfaces should be wiped down with disinfectant, before and after use, and all equipment
must be sterile, to prevent cross contamination and there are procedures you should always follow to
keep both yourself and your patient safe. Always wipe down surfaces before and after use, with
disinfectant.
Diagnosis and Treatment of TB
Pulmonary TB
The disease can be detected in the lungs in the following ways:
A chest X ray can be done to reveal any scar tissue and a cloudy area in the

Supernatural Elements in Like Water for Chocolate and the...
A supernatural event is an event which, according to the laws of nature, cannot happen. In the two
works that I have studied Like water for chocolate by Laura esquivel and The house of the spirits by
Isabel allende, magic realism has been used as a common literary device to give the book a fantasy
like twist, making it very interesting and engaging.
Magic realism stretches the boundaries of realism in order to stretch or widen the definition of reality.
In Like Water for Chocolate, magic becomes ordinary, admitted, accepted and integrated into the
rationality and materiality of literary realism. The first instance of magic realism in Like Water for
Chocolate is Tita s entry into the world, Tita was literally washed into this world ... Show more

This, correspondingly, reinforces the readers image of the story as well as their interests in continuing
the plot. Other examples of supernatural instances could be the arrival of the spirits of Mama Elena,
Nacha, and Morning Light (John Brown s dead grandmother). The significance of these characters
was that they were all maternal figures. Nacha was the ranch cook who was more to Tita than her
biological mother, and Morning Light reminded Tita of Nacha after Nacha s death, and was a motherly
figure for John Brown. Mama Elena returns as a ghost when Tita was already very disturbed; even
after her death Mama Elena has more power over Tita than in life, has over herself. Other example
could include the incident when after a long period of muteness Tita cried and there was a stream that
was running down the stairs when John Brown entered.
In the House of the Spirits, the approach is a little different, for instance the description of Rosa s
beauty At birth Rosa was white and smooth, without a wrinkle, like a porcelain doll, with green hair
and yellow eyes the most beautiful creature to be born on earth. Clara Trueba s ability to move the salt
cellar across the dinner table, accompanied by her predictions of deaths and natural disasters, reading
cards, and playing the piano with the cover down and general clairvoyance. And we have her fantastic
uncle Marcos whose failed serenade of his love throws him

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Electric Cars The Pros and Cons of Electric Cars Cars have become the most common form of transportation that individuals use in their day to day lives. Not only is there a selection of brands to choose from, there are also different types of cars available to purchase, those being gasoline fueled, diesel fueled, electric, and hybrid cars. Each car comes with a vast amount of differences, besides the obvious power source. As well as the differences, each car also comes with its advantages and disadvantages. However, as time has progressed electric cars have become more popular and in demand. But of course with each popular and in demand item, there will certainly be pros and cons. The first successful electric car made its appearance to the world over one hundred years ago, around 1890 thanks to William Morrison, a chemist who lived in Des Moines, Iowa. His six passenger vehicle capable of a top speed of 14 miles per hour was little more than an electrified wagon, but it helped spark interest in electric vehicles. (Matulka, 2012) Although their advantages were soon overshadowed by gasoline driven automobiles, they slowly made a return in 2008 thanks to common consumer, Tesla Motors. The electric cars grew and quickly gained popularity due to its energy efficient nature and comparatively lower cost. In addition to the energy efficiency and lower costs, electric vehicles are ecosystem friendly, smoothly driven, quiet, and quick, no tailpipe emissions and last but not least, the electric ... • 3. Slavery Is The Key For Achieving Freedom In today s society, we take many things for granted because they come easy to us. Education, in many of our lives, is something that is dreaded, something that we do only because we have to. But 200 years ago, things were much different. Slavery unfortunately existed in our society, and slaves weren t granted the gift of education. By not having an education, they were not able to completely understand their situation, and therefore unable to get out of it. Slaves had a limited option in achieving freedom, and in order to do so, they had to become educated, enough to be able to understand slavery, and they had to be religious to be able to see through the hypocrisy of the religious slaveholders. For slaves, education is the key to achieving freedom. It develops one s sense of curiosity, and allows the mind to question things, and to develop it s own ideas and opinions. For slaves, the gift of education was rare, but if one was lucky enough to have it, they began to see the true nature of slavery, and it made them more likely to try and become free. When Frederick Douglass was a young boy, he befriended a few white children who gave him a glimpse of what having an education is like. When remembering this important time in his life, he says, With their kindly aid, at different times and different places, I finally succeeded in learning to read (66 67). The young boys gave Douglass a book, called the Columbian Orator, the first book he had ever laid hands on. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rivers And Streams Receiving Urban Runoff Essay Introduction Rivers and streams receiving urban runoff have been shown to be toxic to aquatic species (e.g. H. azteca), due to the presence of pyrethroids (Budd et al., 2007; Weston and Lydy, 2010; Weston et al, 2014). These pyrethroids are greatly toxic, with acute species mortality possible at even small concentrations of one part per trillion (Weston and Jackson, 2009), yet urban runoff regularly contains concentrations greater than 20 parts per trillion (Weston and Lydy, 2012). A significant part of the runoff from urban areas encompassing Sacramento, California flows to the American River. Thus, the toxic level of the rivers and tributaries of the American River and its sensitivity to aquatic species has been studied through modeling efforts (Jorgenson et al, 2013). Urban runoff, which contains a considerable amount of bifenthrin, a subset of pyrethroids, makes up a large portion of the river flow after a storm event. Due to increased use of bifenthrin in Sacramento County, bifenthrin concentration can be as high as 0.018 ppb, which is more than 5 times the 96 h middle effective concentration (EC50) for loss of motion to most aquatic species (Weston et al., 2009; Holmes et al., 2008; Hintzen et al., 2009; Weston and Lydy, 2010). The aggregated sum of pyrethroids active ingredient (A.I.) used by licensed professional pesticide applicators in Sacramento County, California, was estimated as 4,025,246 lbs. in 2014, and among this, structural pest control and landscape ... • 5. The Ethics Of The Advertising Industry Persons and businesses are expected to have certain ethical standards which are controlled by a series of ethical codes. This research is focused on the ethics of the advertising industry. Some questions will be answered like: should companies be allowed to collect/sell client s info? Should targeted online advertising on the basis of user s profile and demographics? Should there be a ban the sale of surveillance technology to non democratic countries? Keywords: targeted online advertising, surveillance technology, non democratic countries, false advertising, ethical theories, code of ethics. Ethics in the Advertising Industry. Ethics is a set of moral principles on values that governs the conduct of an individual or group (Cheeseman, 2006 p. 149). This paper reflects how ethical the different companies especially in the advertising world are. It also analyze a given case with the theories of ethics to see which best fits into the case description. Violation of the Ethic Code. Though companies and business persons are expected to follow ethical rules in the conduct of their affairs and not to harm society, they don t always practice this discipline. Many companies are using costumer s information to make a profit out of it. As a result, people are getting bombed with relevant advertising and marketing campaigns. • 6. Spirituality And Religion The terms religion and spirituality can have both similarities and differences. Religion can be explained as a set of beliefs that has structure and is practiced within a group or community. It involves worshipping of superhuman beings, and often contains certain teachings in which its believers/followers abide by and practice in everyday society. Although not all religions incorporate a God , the Catholic Church is centred around the Triune God (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit). Catholic teachings reflect the actions that God/Jesus displayed for the sake of humanity. Religious art, is significant within a religion as it is considered to be a sacred material, in which provides proper guidance and hope. Religious art provides many purposes such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This art pictures Jesus as the Miracle Worker . This is explained in full in Matthew 12:22 33. This story explains how Jesus sent the disciples by ship back to the other side of the Sea of Galilee after they became caught in a wind storm. When the first saw Jesus on the water they were frightened. They believed he was a ghost. Jesus said to them not to be afraid. In the Gospel of Matthew, Peter walked on the water towards Jesus, but doubted himself and began to sink. Jesus reached out and caught him. After Jesus entered the ship, the storm settled, and they arrived at land. Christian teachings consider the story a miracle and displays the importance of faith. Peter didn t believe he could achieve what he set out to do, and ultimately due to this he didn t succeed. This sacred story is another example of how religion provides certain ways to live to benefit yourself and others. This interacts with spirituality as these teachings allow people to develop personally and have a better state of mind. The main symbol evident is the light that appears out of the darkness when Jesus appears on the surface of the water. This symbol represents hope as Jesus has come to rescue them from the storm. The light also appeared as Jesus calmed the storm and so the light would be perceived as a symbol for life and happiness as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I sat up I noticed an average looking man standing in the darkness of my bedroom. Frightened, I grabbed my blanket, moved closer to the wall, and followed the man with my wide open eyes. Eventually, he made his way into my half open closet door. I ran to turn the light on faster than a wimpy kid who punched the tough guy in school. Occasionally, the ghost will attach to a person, place or object. Some ghosts are rather weak and highly dependent on the place or person they are attached to. They are sometimes called earthbound spirits. Some other ghosts have gained so much energy that they can move around and even make objects move with their energy. These are called poltergeists. Very strong poltergeists have a limited ability to slam doors or make objects fall on your head (What to Do). • 9. Hip Flexor Moment Lab Report From cite{aus} and cite{childers2012measurement} the biomechanics of the hip is studied. When we walk, during the initial contact the hip moves towards extension. However once the heel contacts the ground range of extension reduces. With short stump it stays in flexion. The peak hip extension occurs late as compared to a normal gait which is $~65%$ stride c/w $55%$. This happens as an attempt to increase the step length of the intact limb when no prosthetic push off is present. The work of the concentric hip extensor is to create the hip extensor moment. This hip extensor moment is also seen to be higher than in the case of normal gait. This is prominent in the first half of the stance where extension of the knee an d the hip happens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tendency seen is higher power generation in shorter period of time in comparison with normal. The power required to lift a prosthesis may only be $30 40%$ of the weight of a normal limb and it is this power generated in short period of time. The hip torque required during preswing and early swing is observed to be less in knees with damping and stance resistance. This is due more anteriorally aligned knee axis. This is required to increase the extension moment during heel contact. But at the same time, due to this alignment initiating flexion in preswing and early swing is a challenge. During late swing the range of hip flexion is observed to be greater than normal that is at all walking speeds. Also the amount of hip flexor activity was observed to be higher. These factors however increase the step length. By keeping the hip flexing the extending knee can be decelerated to reduce terminal impact. %Some amputees with constant friction knees transitioned from hip flexion, to extension, to flexion again, possibly to assist in knee extension by reversing the direction of the thigh. ... The founders were on a highly caffeinated mission to completely alter the coffee industry with the underlying belief that coffee should be served fresh by the cup. They wanted to bring the gourmet coffeehouse experience to both the home and the office. Dragone and Sylvan wished to not only make this possible, but to do so in a satisfying, convenient and efficient way. In 1998, Keurig released their first single serve brewing coffee machine. The machine could also serve a cup of hot tea or hot cocoa. In 2006, Keurig merged with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR), which would later lead Keurig to becoming a ... Porter s Five Forces a) Threat of New Entrants As competition in the single cup brewing market continues to increase, the barrier to entry remains relatively low. This encourages competitors to enter the market. The competitors are aware that creating a lower cost brewing machine that can brew coffee in the pod style (non patented) would give them a competitive advantage over Keurig, whose products are considered quite expensive. Three main competitors include Nestle, Starbucks, Kraft and Mars. All three companies have greater financial, marketing and operating resources. b) Bargaining Power of Suppliers Keurig has a low concentration of suppliers, which therefore limits the bargaining power of these suppliers. c) Bargaining Power of Buyers Buyers ultimately have more bargaining power than the suppliers. This is because Keurig will be more interested in keeping consumers happy so that they can maintain relationships and brand loyalty. For example, consumers can demand new flavors of coffee that fit their personal preference. d) Threats of Substitute The threat of substitutes is relatively low solely because of the fact that there is a limited number of substitutes. Emphatic in his rejection, for him modelling in Burslem was out of the question. Vyse liked to boast that he had once studied with his friend Septimus Bennett, the younger brother of author Arnold Bennett. Later, Vyse would say about him scathingly, Septimus went back to work in the Potteries, not me, I stuck it out in London. This movie is about a girl, Katniss Everdeen, who volunteers as tribute for the seventy fourth annual Hunger Games in the place of her sister, Primrose Everdeen, whose name was picked and announced at the reaping. Katniss, the protagonist played by Jennifer Lawrence, is forced to go outside of her comfort zone when she has to make friends and train to kill people in order to win the Games and come home to her sister, Primrose, who is played by Willow Shields. The Hunger Games was directed by Gary Ross and was released on March 23rd, 2012. The year that this movie was made, a Canadian filmmaker, named James Cameron, became the first person to visit Challenger Deep, the US President Barack Obama secured Democratic presidential nomination, and The Avengers premiered in Los Angeles. Watching this movie, now in 2017, still gives me the same feeling it did when I watched it for the first time in 2012. I can see that the cast and crew for The Hunger Games were picked out carefully. That being said, I thought this movie was marvelous. The crew did a great job with the elements used in determining the type of movie, mise en scene, cinematography, acting, editing, and sound. There are many types of movies, such as narrative movies, documentary movies, and experimental movies. This movie is an example of a narrative movie. This movie is fiction and entertains most people. In contrast, the nations approached with a new style of the treaty that aligns with their self interests made deeper cooperation. Instead of tailoring the agreement with the traditional top down approach where countries are centralized with a concept that the starting point of creating a solution is to develop one concrete collective goal to resolve the issue, which was a stagnant process with mere achievements, Paris fully implemented the model of nationally determined contributions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marx s model of private property views it as means of production creating a division of labor. In his theory, Marx takes a look and how private property, along with wealth, are funneled into the hands of the few leaving the ordinary worker unable to gain wealth from private property. The outcome of Marx s principle can be seen especially in the last 30 years in the US with the increase of inequality and access to wealth to unprecedented numbers (USA 11). When examining both theories about private property one cannot go without recognizing the important role that labour plays. Locke who considers labour the cornerstone of man s ability to provide upon himself and that the act itself is so important labour indeed that puts the difference of value on every thing (MPT 297). Locke s belief that every man is born into the world with an equal amount of capability with labour as the main variable determining success. Marx s writings take a look at where private property comes from and who is the beneficiary of such a product. This is where labour is introduced into his analyzes of private property and the concept of externalized labor, that is, externalized man, alienated labor, alienated life and alienated man (MPT 771). Marx s theories look into the exploitation of one social group, the proletarians, by the wealthy class, the bourgeois that is now in the open due to the structure of capitalism. These tools are as follows. High quality personnel were trained for estimates and the company (CITIC Consortium) had a finance department used for estimating projects (Chinyere,2013). This team was used throughout the whole project and because of their background in estimating, this meant that they had expert judgement on what activities could be done and for what price. Other techniques the team used include computer software which could generate estimates on prices using historical information and previous projects that the team had done (Chinyere, 2013). In regards to project cost management theory, analogous estimating and parametric estimating are seen to be better so using these might have given the company a better estimate on the Birds Nest Stadium project (Hueber, 2015). 2.3 Outputs Inputs and tools/techniques are used to come up with an ... Cognitive Therapy For Psychological Disorders The main premise of psychological disorders are rooted from how an individual understands and takes things into perspective, and how well they are able to regulate their emotions depending on different circumstances (Nature Neuroscience, 2007). There are numerous types of emotional illnesses that can be treated by very precise talking treatments. For instance, psychodynamic therapists are based off of Freud s theory s, so they help people deal with things such as addictions, eating disorders and depression by considering how previous experiences have been taken into your thought process and dealings the current time. Cognitive therapists look at how we think and how we act in response to those thoughts in either a negative or positive way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a frequent occurrence where therapy does not work to its complete potential due to multiple reasons. For instance, there are a lot of pre conceptions, as therapists will frequently help based on books and what they already know as opposed to what the specific person is in need of, as each person takes things differently. A relationship also has to be formed before therapy will start to proceed, and the only way to form a proper relationship is with trust and trust takes a while to form, especially if the person has a lot of walls and has been hiding themselves for years before actually seeking help. As this is such a hard task to fulfill, the patient will tell the therapist what they want to hear not what they actually feel, therefore making the journey to bettering themselves longer. In some cases the patient doesn t even want to be getting therapy in the first place, which will also cause them to act out and lie and separate themselves even farther from the therapist. We are shown these occurrences in Good Will Hunting when Will was first forced to go to therapy. The first few times he would act out, joke around and lie about experiences. The only time therapy actually started to work was when he and Sean, his therapist, formed a special relationship in which Will trusted him enough to open up and tear down his walls. Another reason why talk therapy isn t always successful is because therapy takes a lot of time and the patient might get discouraged if they don t see immediate results. An additional reason why therapies are an inefficient development is because the patient may have a lot of set backs, due to the inconsistency in their minds, and their environments as the therapists goal is to change the person, not the environment, which what we re a main ... • 25. In Praise Of Margins By Ian Frazier In the essay, In Praise of Margins Ian Frazier constantly mentions the importance of marginal behavior within places and activities as he interprets this concept as an aimless wonder that essentially does not provide anything for the economic world. I agree with Frazier s claims as demonstrated through the potential of margins in discovering new ideas, assisting creativity, and helping others get out of their comfort zones. This is established throughout the essay as a way encourage the reader to pursue activities or places for the purpose of pure happiness. One of the reoccurring scenes throughout the article is the woods, which is utilized to express the youth of Frazier as a, Blue Sky Research area. He elaborates this idea in the essay where he states, The margin is where you can try out odd ideas that you might be afraid to with people looking on . It is vivid that Frazier is seeking to communicate to the reader the benefits of marginal activities as well as the reasoning being such an activity. This can be exemplified through a personal experience where I was participating in a marginal activity by aimlessly listening to music throughout a classroom session, which as a result, would allow me to perform higher academically. This relates to the argument that Frazier was attempting to convey of how marginalize activities can be some of the most essential, as I was able to realize this effect on me and suggest the idea to my teacher which then lead to a positive ... Ashley Merryman Losing Is Good For You Analysis In Losing is Good for You , Ashley Merryman instills the idea that society celebrates the essence of success that children achieve in any aspect of their life whether they deserve it or not. Merryman further explains that by celebrating success or, more importantly, the idea that every child is a winner, society takes away the fundamental ideas of hard work. Merryman states that as society limits the opportunity for children to experience failure, this leads to the destruction of the core beliefs of what is the true meaning of winning is and undermines overall determination, and it lowers the desire for children to work hard. Overall, I support Merryman s claim that society rewards all participants despite their qualifications to hold the title of a winner . Today the term winner has become a cliché where people have driven the idea of success to the brink of extinction. Meaning, that society has over produced the idea of a winner to the extent that some other title would have to replace the phrase Congratulations, you are a winner . Personally, I believe that Merryman demonstrates the effect that as children are constantly provided trophies, certificates, and other methods of reward, each of these materials tend to tamper with the foundation of the meaning of being a true victor. Merryman states that, nonstop recognition does not inspire children to succeed. Instead it causes them to under achieve; with this statement, Merryman shows the key idea that as children ... Essay about Strategic Use of Dialogue in Euripides Medea Strategic Use of Dialogue in Euripides Medea Euripides employs the technique of dialogue between two solo actors on stage throughout Medea to dramatize the core values underlying these conversations. In particular, through the conversations that Medea holds with three different males, she shows herself to be a person of great intellect. Females were rarely valued for their intelligence because the Athenians had a complacent pride in the superiority of the Greek masculinity (page 641 ). Yet Medea, a foreign woman, is standing before him in an attempt to persuade him to alter his decision about her exile. Furthermore, Medea manipulates their conversation, so that Kreon will verify her ultimate wish. As the importance of the discussion increases, the dialogue becomes a series of single lines spoken back and forth between Medea and Kreon. With the level of intensity rising, Medea first seems to plead with Kreon to allow her to remain in Corinth permanently. Kreon refuses the proposal because he knows her to be a powerful woman capable of great evils; however, she then states that her true desire is to stay in Corinth for this one day (337). This seems like a minor request to Kreon, so he surrenders his will and grants Medea the right to remain in Corinth for one more day. Thus, Kreon gives Medea the window of time that she needs to murder his young daughter and himself. Quantification of 〖Cr〗^(3+) and 〖Co〗^(2+)in a Mixture Natalia Nole Last updated: September 12, 2016 Purpose Let s assume that we have two solutions, a clear and a colored one, whose concentrations and identities are unknown. If we shine some light of some intensity towards them; some of this light will go through and some of it will be absorbed. This is important because based on the amount of light absorbed by the solutions we can calculate their concentrations. This important and simple principle is known as Beer s Lambert law; which states that the absorbance is proportional to the product of the path length, the molar absorptivity and the concentration of a solution. The product of molar absorptivity times path length gives the value of K, which is the slope. (Equation below) A = Ɛ.Ɩ. C K = Ɛ.Ɩ. A=K×C Spectrophotometry is the quantitative measurement of light absorption and transmittance as a function of a wavelength. The instrument used for spectrophotometry is called the spectrophotometer, and the way it works is as follows. Let s say we have a source of light, which normally is a deuterium lamp. The beam of light projected by the bulb will hit the diffraction gradient, which looks like a prism. Diffraction gradient will adjust so that only a specific wavelength will make it through an exit slit that eventually hits the sample, whose identity and concentration is unknown. Light absorbed and/or transmitted by the sample will be sensed by the detector which will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A commodity can be simply defined as anything that is bought or sold while a commodity chain is the production process that produces these commodities. Understanding commodities and commodity chains is important to be able to understand globalization. One example of how commodities demonstrate globalization is outsourcing and offshoring. By doing this, companies bring their companies overseas which means that they are interconnected with other parts of the world. Understanding commodity chains can also allow you to understand the ties and tensions. I decided to focus on the apparel industry and the commodity of a piece of clothing. Within that white square is an 11 pointed red maple leaf. The red on the Canadian flag represents those who sacrificed their lives during our two world wars. The white on our flag represents the tranquility and peace that Canadians exemplify in the lives we live each day. Also, in 1921, King George V declared red and white as the official national colours of Canada. Our red maple leaf is the only symbol on our flag. This maple leaf was apart of George Stanley s concept of our modern flag as it was very similar to the flag of the Royal Military College of Canada. It represents unity, tolerance, and peace and is a recognized symbol of Canada. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This flag has been the flag of Austria since the end of World War 2. This flag has no symbols. The flags colours are taken from the Austrian legend in which the Duke Leopold V of Austria was blood soaked after a battle that took place 1191. The stripe of white is a symbol of his sword belt after he took it off, the only area that was not immersed in blood. This flag was chosen as the Emperor Henry VI allowed Leopold the chance to make this his banner and was eventually adopted as the flag of Austria. Similarities and Differences across the Flags The Canadian Flag and the flag of the Holy See both feature a national symbol. The meaning behind the flag of Austria and the meaning behind the flag of the Holy See are events that took place a very long time ago. Austria and Canada s flags both share a similar colour scheme, however, the colour representations mean two very different things. Austria s means the idea of war and battle and Canada s meaning remembering war and battle as well as peace and tranquility. All three flags bear a linear pattern, however, Austria s flag is the only one with horizontal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay On Heart Disease Research Methods This research study is an attempt to increasing the understanding of heart disease through nursing intervention with the hope of attaining better guidelines for the care of patients, families, and communities. The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the research methodology for collecting, analyzing, and presenting data. It will also expound on the assumptions made during the study and limitations of the data collected. Finally, it will give a recap of the study s findings and recommendations for future research. Research Design The research study is a comparative descriptive design. Comparative descriptive study designs are useful for identifying the risk factors that may be associated with a disease condition. When specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The paired t test is a statistical analysis test used to determine if the mean difference between two sets of data is zero. During the study, each participant will be interviewed twice, creating a before and after situation. The paired t test will then compare the mean values from two samples (Surkis Read, 2015). Statistical significance and practical significance are important when interpreting the results. Statistical significance is determined by examining the p value. The lower the p value, the lower the probability of the null hypothesis being correct. This reflects the low probability that conclusions were determined by chance. Practical significance depends on the participants refers to the relationship between the data and real life situations. During the data analysis, results can be statistically significant but not practically significant. Both types are required to obtain valuable conclusions. Assumptions of the Study Assumptions for this research study are that the participants will answer the interview questions in an honest and candid manner. The inclusion criteria of the sample are appropriate and therefore, assures that the participants have all experienced the same or similar phenomenon of the study. The research assumed that all women had attained an education level that can help them interpret and understand simple texts and phrases. It is for this reason that it included women aged 30 and 55 years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Case Study On Neural Machine Translation Facebook partnered with Bing in 2011 for translation services, making it an early pioneer in the move toward neural machine translation. In December 2015, Facebook dropped Bing and began to outsource its translation services while developing its own translation technologies. Facebook s own neural machine translator went fully operational on August 3, 2017. Overview Hello and thank you for your question about Facebook neural machine translation. The short version is that Facebook has been moving toward integrating their own translation technology since 2011, and have recently (August 2017) gone fully operational with their own Neural Machine Translator. Below you will find a deep dive of our findings. METHODOLOGY Our goal for this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Facebook was an early pioneer of online translation when in 2011 it started using automated systems to translate users posts and comments in the News Feed. Facebook used Bing initially because they didn t yet have their own technology. In January 2015, Facebook open sourced Torch (their deep learning library). Facebook explains TORCH as an open source development environment for numerics, machine learning, and computer vision. Many projects on machine learning and AI at FAIR (Facebook AI Research) use Torch. Also in 2015, Facebook acquired Wit.ai, a startup using understanding of natural language in text/voice to power user interfaces. In December 2015, Facebook dropped Bing and started using its own translation technology. The issue was that Bing was built to translate more properly written website text, not human slang. Facebook stated that the disconnect between the languages people speak and the content they want to connect to on the Internet is what made them want to create their own neural network based machine translation (MT) system. Also in Dec 2015, Facebook opensourced it s hardware designs for anyone to explore through the Open Compute Project. The server was called BigSur, which is described as servers with graphics processing units (GPUs), which have become the chip of choice for deep learning. Later, in June 2016, Facebook stated that Statistical

  • 45. Child Trafficking Is A Universal Issue According to the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children (2000), child trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of children for the purpose of exploitation. It is a violation of their rights, their well being and denies them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Cathy Paris once said, Truthfully, human trafficking is just a polite way to say modern day slavery. That being said, no human is adequate to legislate and alternate a fellow human, without that humans assent. Even though slavery was abolished centuries ago, it still lingers on secretly in many countries in the world. Unfortunately, Child trafficking is a universal issue ... That goes to say that there should be enough resources to be able to implement full measures to invest in education and job creation so as to alleviate poverty in the country. For most non Western countries, the reasons why most of these important issues are overlooked is because of systemic corruption. Corruption is the only logic answer that can explain the neglect of this phenomenon. Tragically, the legislature of Ghana and in addition other African nations permits and supports these misbehaviors. Degenerate practices are sought after for own self increase. Thus the reasons explicable for the growth of Child trafficking in Ghana are neglect by the government, the fear of the cost to be incurred by the government if child trafficking is to be tackled and finally the absence of an effective the rule of law in Ghana. Corruption is ultimately the only logic reason why all the factors mentioned above would thrive. Since the economy of Ghana is steadily growing, why is this prevalent in the rural areas? Through analysis of the topic of Child Trafficking in Ghana I argue that even though it is not yet a widespread issue, as we know corruption to erode, in years to come if measures are not put into place, it will become a nationwide calamity. TB is more likely to develop if you have HIV/AIDS, are an alcoholic, abuse drugs, or live in damp, overcrowded conditions. People with weaker immune systems, are also more susceptible. How to avoid the spread of the disease A vaccine containing a weakened version of the bacterium has been produced, called Bacille Calmet Guerin (BCG) to prevent the spread of TB. This is often given to people aged 16 35 and those more likely to catch the disease, i.e. people travelling to, and staying in, countries where the infection is more likely to occur, healthcare practitioners, homeless shelter workers and immigrant hostel workers. Whilst working with an active TB patient, the spread of this disease can be easily avoided by washing hands, before and after a task is completed, wearing the appropriate P.P.E. (personal protective equipment), and making sure it is clean, never using needles more than once, and correctly disposing of them. Surfaces should be wiped down with disinfectant, before and after use, and all equipment must be sterile, to prevent cross contamination and there are procedures you should always follow to keep both yourself and your patient safe. • 47. Supernatural Elements in Like Water for Chocolate and the... A supernatural event is an event which, according to the laws of nature, cannot happen. In the two works that I have studied Like water for chocolate by Laura esquivel and The house of the spirits by Isabel allende, magic realism has been used as a common literary device to give the book a fantasy like twist, making it very interesting and engaging. Magic realism stretches the boundaries of realism in order to stretch or widen the definition of reality. In Like Water for Chocolate, magic becomes ordinary, admitted, accepted and integrated into the rationality and materiality of literary realism. The first instance of magic realism in Like Water for Chocolate is Tita s entry into the world, Tita was literally washed into this world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This, correspondingly, reinforces the readers image of the story as well as their interests in continuing the plot. Other examples of supernatural instances could be the arrival of the spirits of Mama Elena, Nacha, and Morning Light (John Brown s dead grandmother). The significance of these characters was that they were all maternal figures. Nacha was the ranch cook who was more to Tita than her biological mother, and Morning Light reminded Tita of Nacha after Nacha s death, and was a motherly figure for John Brown. Mama Elena returns as a ghost when Tita was already very disturbed; even after her death Mama Elena has more power over Tita than in life, has over herself. Other example could include the incident when after a long period of muteness Tita cried and there was a stream that was running down the stairs when John Brown entered. In the House of the Spirits, the approach is a little different, for instance the description of Rosa s beauty At birth Rosa was white and smooth, without a wrinkle, like a porcelain doll, with green hair and yellow eyes the most beautiful creature to be born on earth. Clara Trueba s ability to move the salt cellar across the dinner table, accompanied by her predictions of deaths and natural disasters, reading cards, and playing the piano with the cover down and general clairvoyance.
