A Study Of The Life And Career Of Lord Alfred Tennyson And Selected Criticism Of His Works
Whether a person likes or dislikes the works of Lord Alfred Tennyson, most would agree that he
was one of the most influential writers of his time period. Tennyson grew up in a wealthy family
never wanting for anything. English author often regarded as the chief representative of the
Victorian age in poetry. Tennyson succeeded Wordsworth as Poet Laureate in 1850; he was
appointed by Queen Victoria and served 42 years. Tennyson s works were melancholic, and
reflected the moral and intellectual values of his time, which made them especially vulnerable for
later critic. Alfred, Lord Tennyson was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire. His father, George

In the poem Enoch Arden, Philip Ray and Annie Lee grow up together. Enoch wins her hand. He
sails abroad and is shipwrecked for 10 years on a deserted island. Meanwhile Annie has been
reduced to poverty. Philip asks her to marry him. Enoch returns and witnesses their happiness,
but hides that he is alive and sacrifices his happiness for theirs. An Enoch Arden has come to
mean a person who truly loves someone better than himself. The poem ends banally: So past the
strong heoic soul away. / And when they buried him, the little port / Had seldom seen a costlier
funeral. IDYLLS OF THE KING (1859 1885) dealt with the Arthurian theme, and THE
ANCIENT SAGE (1885) and AKBAR S DREAM (1892) testified his faith in the redemption
offered by love. Despite his pessimism about the human condition, the poet believed in God. In
the 1870s Tennyson wrote several plays, among them poetic dramas QUEEN MARY (1875) and
HAROLD (1876). In 1884 he was created a baron. Tennyson died at Aldwort on October 6, 1892
and was buried in the Poets Corner in Westminster Abbey. Soon he became the favorite target of
attacks of many English and American poets who saw him as a representative of narrow patriotism
and sentimentality. Later critics have praised again Tennyson. T.S. Eliot has called him the great
master of metric as well as of melancholia and that he possessed the finest ear of any English poet
since Milton. 1

The Effects Of Nature On The Hospital Setting
The use of nature in the hospital setting has been used to reduce stress and provide a getaway not
only for the patient but for visitors and hospital staff as well. A review article by Ulrich, Quan,
Zimring, Joseph, and Choudhary (2004) summarized the role of physical environment which
included nature. Nature is emphasized in providing a distraction for the patient from their illness
and the hospitalsetting. (Ulrich et al., 2004) Simply using pictures of nature has been found to
reduce anxiety and reduce the dosage of pain medications of patients in the ICU. (Ulrich, 2004)
The presence of nature through a bedside window was found to be just as beneficial in improving
the patients recovery and well being. (Ulrich 2004) The presence of nature dramatically reduced the
agitation of Alzheimer s patients when bathing with recorded nature sounds. (Ulrich, 2004)
Hospital gardenscan be a direct source of nature in proximity for patients that are easily
accessible. Scenic art can be soothing in comparison to a white wall. The descriptive colors can
stimulate the mind and provide a focal point away from medical devices. All these examples
support the claim that nature does remedy the stress patients feel in the hospital setting. It allows
patients to relax and have a sense of calm when confronting the daunting idea of fighting for their
lives against a sickness. Nature provides an escape that is outside the white walls of the hospital.
Patients can forget for a moment that they are

Research Paper On Jacob s Firstborn
Jacob s Firstborn
Although Joseph is commonly identified as Jacob s firstborn with Rachel, He was actually the
eleventh of Jacob s sons. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: the sons of Leah were Reuben,
Jacob s firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun; the sons of Rachel were Joseph
and Benjamin: the sons of Bilhah, Rachel s maidservant, were Dan and Naphtali; and the sons of
Zilpah, Leah s maidservant, were Gad and Asher. (Genesis 35: 22 26) So, Reuben was Jacob s
firstborn; yet, he lost his birthright by committing fornication with his father s concubine.
Nonetheless, God built the Jewish nation from that dysfunctional family.
Reuben made a mess out of his life and a lot of people can identify with him, for all have sinned
and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3: 23) Perhaps there are those who feel that because
of past sins God can t use them; however, He used Rahab, King David, Saul of Tarsus and he used
Reuben. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

he stood against his brothers saying, Let us not kill him...shed no blood. (Genesis 37: 21 22) His
compassion and a degree of decency not seen in his brothers caused him to be concerned about
his father and he intervened. He was bold as a lion. (Proverbs 28: 1) He did not allow his past
weaknesses to interfere with his actions, nor did he permit his brothers to intimidate him because of

Tar Sands In Canada
Oil and gas usage because of tar sands is now considered the largest source of greenhouse gas
emissions in Canada, which means it actually produces more greenhouse gas emissions in North
America than all the CO2 from vehicles. The tar sands create both a noxious air quality, and a
polluted water quality with bitumen (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016). This issue, in relation
to Canada, is most problematic at the Alberta tar sands. The scientific consensus on this issue is
that the tar sands not only has become one of the biggest emissions problems in Canada, but also
that it has become a major health concern because of the misunderstood and unknown pollutants in
the air (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016; Dr. Gosselin, Dr. Hrudey, Dr. Naeth, Dr. Plourde,
Dr. Therrien, Dr. Van Der Kraak, Dr. Xu., 2010). There is also a general scientific consensus that
this change in the air quality contributes to climate change. This change in air quality also creates a
serious threat to humans. The tar sands impact ambient air quality and produces noxious odours,
which humans inhale and have the possibility to damage our lungs (Dr. Gosselin, et al., 2010).

Hieronymus Bosch Northern Renaissance
During the Northern Renaissance, the role of the artist and art in Northern Europe during the 16th
century followed new patterns of thought that focused on humanism, individualism, skepticism and
secularism. The Northern Renaissance artists placed perspective , an importance of everyday life.
The theme of the Northern Renaissancewas a return to the Roman culture and Greco classics.
However, Netherlandish painter Hieronymus Bosch had a perspective unlike any other painter,
until 400 years later.
Bosch was a perplexing, enigmatic and mesmeric artist who painted the secular commission Garden
of Earthly Delights. That art historians believe is an iconography that depicts moral warning or a
panorama of paradise lost. This tryptych alterpiece has been discussed by scholars over the years
and they have proposed that given the work s central themes of sex and procreation, the painting
may commemorate a wedding, as marriages were a common them of Netherlandish paintings. The
glaring and prominate themes that Netherlandish artist Bosch brought to the Northern Renaissance

Education spread through diplomacy. The Italian Navy lent a big hand to the influence of moving

Aztec Warriors-Personal Narrative
Mexico. Land of the Aztec warriors. Land of the Latin lovers. Land of my blood. Mexico is the
land that I abandoned as an infant, with my mother, and never looked back. Except, I had to go
back the month prior to the start of my Junior year in high school. I never thought I would return
home until I was an old lady, or, at least, someday with my entire family. Instead, there I was,
underneath the celestial sky, on the side of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, in the town that
I once lived in: La Esperanza. That night, a cool breath of air blew throughout the corners and
curves of the cobblestone streets flapping the curtains of cement houses around like the skirt of a
dancing woman. As I walk through the streets, the night cannot put the living to rest. Small children
with dirt streaked faces and hole ridden clothes ran around the streets playing... Show more content

I unlock the metal gate and climb onto the front patio. Before me stands a two story house with
newly refurbished windows and a fresh coat of white paint. I admire the house s beauty as I
stroll past it. I walk through a crowded path of mohintli, white laelia, tithonia, and dahlias that
seem to guide me to the real reason I am at this address. After moving the branches of some
avocado trees out of the way, I finally find the treasure I am seeking: a small rose colored house
with just two windows and two rooms. With the key my father gave me, I open the doors to
enter the rooms. The light switch does not work, so only shadows are present in the room. Giant
cracks graze the walls like the markings of a lion. On the ceiling, an intricate flower design
shines proudly with the rest of the room, slowly losing its will to decay. Only broken furniture
stands in the corners of the room, ashamed to be present in front of a girl from the North. After
taking a deep breath to calm my emotions, I lock the door, look to the sky, and walk back to the
house I am staying at with my

No One Factor Was Directly Responsible For The French...
No one factor was directly responsible for the French Revolution. Years of feudal oppression and
fiscal mismanagement contributed to a French society that was ripe for revolt. The economical
downturn may have been the kickstarter that began the revolution as the taxes rose higher and
outrage at the crown heightened. The economy began to destabilise in the late 1700s, and the king
decided to bring in financial advisers to look at the weakened French treasurey. Each adviser gave
the king the same warning that something had to be done and radical changes had to be made, but
each were, in their turn, kicked out. After the financial crisis began to effect Francemore harshly,
the king finally decided that something had to be done, and so he appointed a new controller
general of finance, Charles de Calonne in 1783. Calonne suggested many ways to get France out of
the spiral, but most balanced on the nobility paying taxes as well as the French public. He pleaded
with them at the National Assembly, but to no avail. Thus, financial ruin became imminent.
The Jacobins, led by Robespierre who wanted the king out of the picture entirely where the radicals
of the Assembly. Whereas the Girondins took a more moderate approach to the monarchy. This led
to the rift in the assembly, which caused the Girondins to lose power.
Austria and Hungary were at war with France for most of the National Assembly s lifespan, and
the rage of the people when the war was going badly started the

Bilingualism Is A For A Regular Way Between Researchers...
To begin with, bilingualism is a term which is not used in a regular way between researchers and
theoreticians. For example Macnamara (1967; cited in Cummins and Swain, 1986:07) defines
bilinguals as those have at least one of the skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) even to a
lower degree in their second language. At the other end of the scale Oestreicher (1974; cited in
Cummins and Swain, 1986:07) defines bilinguals as those who show complete mastery of two
different languageswithout interference . According to Bloomfield (1933; cited in Romaine,
1989:10) bilingualism is a native like control of two languages , it is the ability to speak two
languages perfectly. Furthermore, bilingualism was analyzed into four levels in another paper:
individual, family, societal, and school levels (McCarty, 2010). At the educational level, McCarty
(2012) defines bilingual educationas bilingualism at the school level. It is not a matter of speaking
two languages at home, which is bilingualism at the family level. Bilingual education is teaching in
two languages in a school, more than one language as the medium of instruction, that is to say the
use of another language for students to learn regular school subjects. Additionally, Appel and
Muysken (1987:60) define bilingual education as the opportunity to be educated in two languages:
the language of the home and the language of other groups in the community. However, for them
these two languages do not

competitors is not because of its IT infrastructure but because of its integrated supply chain and

Benefit: The current IT infrastructure has enabled Zara to report a net profit margin of 11.02% in

its revenue. It will enable improve its inventory management system because rapidly growing
market may make it difficult for the current old IT system to maintain the same level of efficiency.
Intangible analysis:
Cost: Zara s competitive advantage of efficient, fast and highly responsive supply chain may be at
risk due to fast changing complexity of market environment. Loss of information due to older

inventories, is less productive and time consuming. Small screen of the PDAs make it difficult for
the employees in the stores to use them for ordering purpose and are vulnerable to making errors.
Up gradation of the current system require training of the employees which may take several days

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Throughout history, Shakespeare has been given credit for the popularizing of tragedies, causing
a tragic hero to be seen as a reputable character. In Shakespeare s story Romeo and Juliet, two ill
fated lovers are caught between the bitter hatred of their two families. Knowing their parents
would never approve, Romeo and Juliet struggle to keep their love a secret. Though the story ends
in what most people would view as a tragedy, Romeo fails to meet the characteristics of a tragic hero
established by Aristotle, who first created the literary term. There are five distinguishing
characteristics of a tragic hero identified by Aristotle: noble birth, a flaw resulting in the
character s eventual downfall, a reversal of fate caused by the flaw, an increase in self
awareness, and withdrawing a feeling of pity from the audience. Romeo is born of a noble birth
and has a major flaw that will cause his eventual unfortunate fate, but he never achieves a greater
sense of self awareness. In conjunction with not enhancing his own self awareness, he also does
not inspire the audience to feel sympathy for him. When Shakespeare introduces the story of
Romeo and Juliet, he gives the impression that Romeo will develope into a perfect tragic hero. In
the opening line of the prologue, the Montagues are described as a wealthy and powerful family,
Two households, both alike in dignity (1.Prologue.1). Romeo s noble birth remains unknown until
the Capulets bawl, at which Capulet explains to

Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Rhetorical Analysis
The Civil War was a period of racial injustice and a time of great loss for the people of America.
During Abraham Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address, he creates a moral framework for peace and
reconciliation with the use of many rhetorical strategies. With a sincere but reflective tone,
Abraham Lincoln highlights the reality of the troubled nation and the solution to all of the
problems, which is unity. Lincoln repeats strong phrases to enhance the theme, references to a holy
figure, and creates simple, yet structured ideas to achieve his purpose of reuniting the broken
nation. Lincoln speaks in a simplistic manner in order to convey his message to the common man.

Patriarchy Of Ancient Indian Women
In Ancient India, much like many other ancient civilizations, women were dominated by men. In
these patriarchal societies, women served only to please and obey her husband. Men were viewed
as heros, with intelligence and strength, while their wives value was simply due to their beauty.
The Ramayana, which was written in this patriarchal era, exemplifies these beliefs. It achieves this
by blaming females for the unfortunate events that take place throughout the story. This Hindu
story was written around 500 BC by one of the first well known poets, Valmiki. This epic poem is
written in the ancient language of Sanskrit and explores human values. Because of its lasting
impact, it provides an example in the duties of relationships, and how Hindu s must be the most
ideal father, brother, king, and wife. The Ramayanahelped further cement the patriarchal society of

I review mainly two Journal on the topic related to the scheduling of pharmaceutical industry as
given by Discrete and continuous time representations and mathematical models for large
production scheduling problems: A case study from pharmaceutical industry .
In this literature, I found that the choice of time representation is an important parameter in the
structure and character of a mathematical model for scheduling. There are two types of time
representation Discrete and continuous. I also learned about the Decomposition algorithm which is
used when the complexity of the problems are high. I understand and try to formulate the problem

Latin School Concert Report
It was January 7th, 2017, the weather alert had been right, there was a pretty darn big snowstorm
outside, but inside, of the Boston Latin School auditorium, the 10th Annual MMEA Eastern Senior
District Festival were filled with excited spirits that were much bigger. There was a smattering of
students from each school in the Eastern District, and many BLS students were part of them. A
feeling of awe and admiration floated through me as I saw them enter the stage. In 4 years, I would
be just like them, I hoped.
There were 4 fantastic music ensembles that would perform: Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band,
and Chorus. Each group had a particular conductor, but all performed with much skill, gusto, and
professionalism.
The first to perform was the Concert Band, conducted by Dr. Emily Threinen (Director of Bands
at the Univeristy of Minnesota School of Music), with pieces such Nitro by Frank Ticheli and
Sheltering Sky by John Mackey. The ensemble s prominent performance, however, was in its last
piece, Scenes from the Louvre by Norman dello Joio. From the opening movement to the last note,

the bassist Charles Mingus, and Body and Soul by George Stone. They also incorporated some
other songs, such as Tuning Up by Toshiki Akiyoshi, and Count Bubba by George Goodwin.
Throughout the entire performance, many soloists popped up and played with such tone and mood

harmony with each other. Right after a song ended, the crowd would erupt into cheering

Madness In Hamlet
While Hamlet s mad behavior starts out as an antic disposition, his mental state deteriorates.
Does Hamlet truly go mad, or is all of his wackiness an act? When someone refers to madness in
Hamlet, most would think of just Hamlet s madness, not everyone in the story. O, that this too too
sullied flesh would melt, thaw and resolve itself into a dew, or that the Everlasting had not fixed.
His canon gainst self slaughter! O God, God, how weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable. Seem to me
all the uses of this world! (I.II. 133 138). Hamletis complaining about how depressed he is over his
father s death and his mom remarrying, and wishing that his flesh would melt, wishing that he d
die. Hamlet sees betrayal from Gertrude, and he has no idea how to handle it correctly, without his
madness kicking in. Ophelia also sees Hamlet twisting around. My lord, as I was sewing in my
closet, Lord Hamlet, with his doublet all unbraced; no hat upon his head, his stockings fouled,
ungartered, and down gyvГЁd to his ankle, pale as his shirt, his knees knocking each other, and
with a look so piteous in purport, as if he had been loosГЁd out of hell to speak of horrors he

Pinnne By Sharon G. Flake Summary
I am currently reading the book Pinned by Sharon G. Flake. I started reading this because I ve
read one of Sharon s books before. She takes the epitomes of realistic fiction and writes a
recreated version. One fantastic thing she s done in this book is create an arsenal of three
dimensional characters. One of the main characters is Autumn. She is described as a tenacious
girl who battles dyslexia. She also is the best wrestler in her class. Immediately on the first page,
the author begins with, Here s what I like about wrestling. You work hard and you can be
somebody in this sport. And it doesn t matter if you re big or small. Fat or skinny. Rocking killer
grades or not (1). As I read on in the book I realized that this was Autumn s point of view. Later
Adonis states, For Autumn to win so often speaks volumes about her determination, strength and
training (82). This quote shows how hard Autumn works to be the best wrestler. I ain t too good of
a student. I wrestle, bake (114). Even though she wasn t one of the best students, she continues to
practice reading difficult words. She s always optimistic and she is determined to make Adonis can

Theme Of Power In The Mayor Of Casterbridge
Power one s influence on society is coveted by many. What has been sympathy in the past, has
become greed for more control, strength, and reverence from others. People have began to focus
on being all knowing and dominating, rather than being just a friend. The conquest to gain more
power has become a major influence on a person s actions; however, these actions are usually self
destructive, leading to a person s downfall. Power is what drives people s actions, and eat people
inside and out on their way to this ultimate goal. In the competition for power, only the people who
best comprehend their environment and adapt appropriately can ultimately succeed.. The Mayor of
Casterbridgefollows multiple different characters in a prison like society. In this society, there is
a constant thirst for power, and a fight for this control. Each character tries to quench this desire
in a different way, and ultimately many characters fail to reach this ideal situation. The characters
in the novel are very driven in their ways that there is a limited change in the fight for power.
Many argue that in order to have possession of all this power, one must be familiar about all
aspects of society, rather than being distant. In his novel The Mayor of Casterbridge, Thomas Hardy
argues this belief. Through the character of Farfrae, the goldfinch, and the isolated death of
Henchard, Hardy advocates that innocence results in an expansion of power and self control.

During my teenage years I was well known for my loving spirit and compassion for people. I
was a problem solver and as well the go to person for family and friends. This passion continued
throughout my teenage years, as I volunteered at the Department of Veterans Affairs, assisting

Stages Of Grief By Elisabeth Kubler Ross

Walden University Stages of Grief
Stages of Grief
Elisabeth KГјbler Ross developed methods for counseling after personal traumas and grief related
to the death and dying process. Higher stages of grief implementation, utilization occurs within the
grief and hospice care. Kubler Ross and Kessler (nd) indicates that misunderstanding surrounds
her stages of death as those focused on the typical responses that people experience when they
suffer a loss. Kubler Ross and Kessler acknowledge how everyone is unique, and this includes
his or her grieving process. Within the framework of this model, the first stage of loss is denial.
The emphasis on death and dying are for the person who is dying. Within the grieving process, the
family is in denial that the loved one has died. This process is more figurative rather than factual.
Denial is a defense mechanism implemented as they are not ready to acknowledge the loss of a
loved one. When the individual becomes stronger, the denial diminishes, and the emotions began to
surface.
The second step within this model is he emergence of the anger stage. Accordingly, anger comes
out in different ways. Losing loved results in anger towards yourself, God, the doctors and the
person who died. Kubler Ross and Kessler (nd) indicates anger is an important component of the
healing process to continue. Individuals must work through anger at his or her pace. The third

Henry Ford
Intro Who is he? Henry Ford ( 1863 1943 ) was one of America s foremost industrialists. He
revolutionized production of the automobile/transportation. Ford was born on July 30, 1863, in a
place near Dearborn, Michigan. Over the years, he worked as an engineer for the Edison
Illuminating Company in Detroit. His first developed/built form of transport was gasoline
powered. He built a gasoline powered horseless carriage called the Quadricycle, in the shed behind
his home. Years later, Ford developed and built the Ford Model T car in 1908. He then developed
the assembly line made of production, revolutionizing the industry. Resulting in millions of cars
sold and becoming a world famous company head. The company s market dominance was lost, but
there was a lasting impact on other technological development and U.S. infrastructure. Enormously
influential in the industrial world, Henry Ford was also outspoken in the political realm. He drew
controversy for his pacifist stance during the early years of World War 1 and earned widespread
criticism for his anti Semitic views and writings.

Sectional Differences
In the early mid nineteen century United States began to split, people s views started to become
more concrete and irreconcilable, thus the separation of the Union became more drastic. From 1850
to 1861 it was apparent that the union was separating into North and the South. They both
developed different patterns of life and philosophies of government. Increase in population due to
immigration and territorial expansion caused growth and change. Several reform movements
attempted to correct the injustices and bring the United Statesback together, but sectional
differences formed, leading to a Civil War. There were several events that took place within the
fifteen years leading up to the Civil War, however, in the end, the sectional differences... Show more

The North was blessed with an abundance of natural resources and a growing population which led
to industrialization. This caused an increase in immigrants and no more demand for slavery. In the
South the fertile soil and the hot temperature made it ideal for farming and growing crops like
cotton and tobacco. Since agriculture was so profitable Southerners didn t really see a need for
industrial development. This meant that their whole society was completely based on farming and
on slaves doing the work. The North and South differences didn t just involve slavery but it also
included cultural, economic, political, and power differences. A major disputation between the two
sides was whether the new territories and states should have legalized slavery. Northerners worried
that if slavery crept northward, slaves would take jobs that white workers might otherwise be hired
to do. In contrast, Southerners had a lifestyle and economy supported by slave labor, and they
worried that free states and territories abutting slave states might harbor fugitive slaves and
negatively influence the institution of slavery. Both sides were concerned about the balance of
power and that Congress might lean towards the other

A commentary of the poem The Broken Tower by Hart Crane
A Broken Tower, by Hart Crane, is a metaphor rich poem that is very ambiguous but seems to
describe the difficulties of the creative process and the way in which the artist is bound and
compelled by it. Crane uses many religious metaphors and references, directly mentioning God and
also bells, which are associated with churches. It is possible to interpret the poem in a religious
sense, but it could be argued that religion and art are similar metaphors; that, for the poet, his
writings are both a method of spiritual expression and a search for truth. The title, A Broken Tower,
refers to a continuing metaphor in the poem and suggests the deconstruction of established
paradigms which is necessary for artistic progress. Throughout the poem,... Show more content on

This is congruent with the need to destroy the tower, or destroy traditional ideas. Supporting the
strong visual imagery is the frequent mention of sound: the choir, voices, reveilles and echoes.
Imperfection is once again alluded to with the entry of the poet into the broken world in order to
trace the visionary company of love, its voice. This seems to directly refer to his creative process
in seeking truth and beauty in his writing. It is also the most positive concept expressed in the
poem thus far a wholly positive one, rather than the difficult process of destroying the obsolete
mentioned before. However, unlike the mighty tower, this voice is an instant in the wind and not
for long in other words, transitory. It is also mysterious and beyond the poets control, like the bells
in the tower, as the poet admits he know[s] not whither [it is] hurled.
Crane makes a more specific reference to his art; his word, as opposed to the Word of that tribunal
monarch of the air. The latter belongs to God, who is depicted as powerful and judgemental: the
deity of the Broken Tower. This could be seen as a personification of the judgemental ostracism
that Crane faced as a homosexual. The God metaphor is expanded on, with mention of Christs
wounds pledged once to hope, but also a rejection of it: cleft to despair. In this stanza, Crane offers
his word a replacement of the old Tower, symbolizing a

Gender Bias Essay
Gender bias, also known as sexism, is a full of attitudes, laws, taboos, preferences, and behaviors
that differentiates and discriminates against either sex. These may be a position of which male
dominance and female subjugation in the modern society. It could also be a form of sexual
stereotypes between men and women, these are commonly experienced in employment versus

The Difficulty of English Indian Friendship in A Passage to India
Ms. Mousseau
17th Dec. 2014
A Passage to India by E.M. Forster is a novel set in 1920 s against the British backdrop over India.
During the 1920 s, India becomes colonized by the European Government (mostly Britain). Since
the Indians are weaker compare to the English, their nation starts to get imperialised by England.
Just as the time, Forster visits India and becomes bothered by the racial oppression and deep
cultural misunderstandings. Despite of these issues, Forster tries to connect the friendship between
the British colonizers and the colonized Indians. Throughout the novel, major concern of the British
colonialism over India is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the novel, colonialism produces social, cultural and religious issues among the two
colonial societies of opposing races. It s obvious that the English has tried hard enough to gain
power over India. The first object that has attracted the English is the mesmerizing background of
India. In the novel, as Forster describes, So abased, so monotonous is everything that meets the
eye, that when the Ganges1 comes down it might be expected to wash the excrescence back into
the soil (Forster, 5). The English first enter India as foreigners who were influenced by the scenery
as described. Instantly, they intend to become the ruler of India. Englishmen start to build their
own colonies apart from the Indian ones. Even though, the English had stayed in India as tourists,
their construction of colonial buildings suggests that they want to live further apart. However, in
order to be the ruler, the English had to communicate with the Indians. Some characters such as
Mr. Turton, Ronny and Heaslop have to deal with the Indians, but they keep the distance as
minimal as possible. Due to their inhuman characteristic, Aziz and his friends had to suffer a lot.
This idea suggests that no matter what, a colonizer and a colonized can never be close in a
colonial society. The ruler will always be in power whereas the colonized will be humiliated in
every second of their lives, even though the country belongs to them. Another social factor that had
become an interruption

Penalizing Profanity Promotes Use of It Essay
Penalizing Profanity Promotes Use of It
Profane language is used once every six minutes on network television shows, every two minutes
on premium cable shows, and every three minutes in major motion pictures, according to a new
study by the Centre for Media and Public AffairsВ№.
Upon learning this information, one would make the assumption that profanity is another common
attribute to our daily lives, such as brushing our teeth. But what is profane language? Webster s
dictionary defines it as being the condition or quality of being profane abusive, vulgar, or
irreverent and the use of such language. However, although society is being exposed to this coarse
language repeatedly, many are still being penalized for using it in ... Show more content on

Why? Because of the Toronto District School Board s Zero Tolerance ВІ. However, the usage of
tobacco and alcohol is also liable to a 20 day suspension. Whether this was intended for or not,
the TDSB is promoting the image that usage of profane language is equivalent to that of tobacco
and alcohol. Its guidelines state that The Toronto District School Board is committed to providing
a safe learning and working environment for all students, staff and visitors to our schools . This
statement leads one to believe that the TDSB s mission is to keep its students safe by omitting and
eliminating safety hazards. Does a swearing person generate a safety hazard? The clear answer is no.
Some people have taken the usage of profane language as far as legal punishment. During an
incident in Standish, Michigan in August of 1998, a man was charged for using profane language,
in accordance to a 104 year old law, which forbids cussing in front of women and children. Ві The
incident began when 24 year old Timothy Boomer fell out of his canoe while heading down stream.
As he flopped in the water, he began yelling in the direction of his friends, inadvertently using
profanity as a means to attract their attention, as well as communicate urgency. Shortly following
his outburst, his friends learned of three sheriff s deputies on the riverbank staring at them with
binoculars. To their dismay, one of the deputies handed Boomer a misdemeanour citation. The

Airline Industry Essay
Management Accountin
TERM PAPER
Abstract: Competition today is one of the major threats to an airline industry. Competitive
advantage therefore can be achieved by establishing cost leadership. The ultimate challenge faced
by any company would be to leverage between the escalating operational costs and falling revenues
so as to maximise the profits. Determine the costing procedure of an airline industry and the various
possible efforts it takes to reduce the costs. The airline industry employs a trend and horizontal
analysis to evaluate its performance and productivity. This industry can be categorised into
international, national, regional and cargo operations. The major costs incurred by the airline
industry are weather costs, fuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response to the adverse financial results the airline industry has experienced, most airlines have
taken actions in an effort to reduce losses, such as reducing capacity, reducing employee headcount,
limiting service offerings, renegotiating labor contracts and reconfiguring flight schedules, as well
as other efficiency and cost cutting measures. Despite these actions, financial losses in the airline
industry have continued through 2005 and it is foreseeable that further airline reorganizations,
bankruptcies or consolidations may occur, which could serve to reduce our cost advantage. We
cannot assure you that the occurrence of these events or potential changes resulting from these
events will not harm our business or the airline industry generally. Major airlines are reducing their
cost structures through various methods, these changes could reduce our cost advantage. The
airline industry has incurred significant losses resulting in airline restructurings and bankruptcies,
which could result in changes in our industry. As a result of slower general economic conditions,
the continuing impact of the 2001 terrorist attacks, the high price of fuel and military action in Iraq,
the airline industry has experienced a decline in demand which has resulted in record financial
losses.

Blackstone and the Sale of Citigroup’s Loan Portfolio Essay
HBS Project:
Blackstone and the Sale of Citigroup s Loan Portfolio
Blackstone and The Sale of Citigroup s Loan Portfolio
In the second half of 2007, the banking industry and financial market showed signs of
considerable stress by raising the default rate of mortgage and the decline in the value of
residential mortgage backed securities. This had led to a re pricing of many debt instruments. By the
end of 2007, Citigroup declared that the fair value of its U.S. sub prime related direct exposure
could decline by 20%. This affected Citigroup s financial results and would incur further losses in
the future.
One of Citigroup s main concerns was the risk of their exposure from holding leveraged loans. Due
to the increasing risks and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, it is reasonable that prices will recover, which, in the long run, would benefit Blackstone.
Why is the Citigroup seeking to sell the portfolio of leveraged loan?
Citigroup s leveraged loan exposure is composed of two main risks. First, holding these leveraged
loans could be costly from a regulatory capital perspective because they hold a 100 percent risk
weight. Citigroup would need $80 million of capital for every billion dollars of leverage loan. By
selling these leveraged loans, Citigroup would reduce capital requirement. Second, a decline in the
leveraged loan index (LCDX) value from 97 cents on the dollar to 92 cents on the dollar posed a
$1.5 billion loss on its leveraged loan portfolio for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2007.
Furthermore, Citibank did not intend to hold theses loans. Like many others, Citigroup had
suffered unprecedented losses and was facing the prospect of having even more considerable
losses. By selling these loans, the bank s image was greatly improved.

Millenial Career Research Paper
Although many millennials are too absorbed in technology to work efficiently, the younger
generation is a vital addition to any workplace. The modern society of advancement has raised
millennials to believe that a higher education and a successful career are essential early in life.
Society expects millennials to complete their education and pursue bigger aspirations, such as a
successful career, without taking a pause for more philosophical actions. A fast paced world has
created a societal standard of hard work and long, conventional careers in most of the previous
generations. However, the increasingly advancing world around the millennial generation pressures
the job seeking recent college graduates to live at a high societal standard and obtain success
through a stable career. Due to the advanced society of high career oriented standards and the
effects it has had on millennials aspirations, the younger generation is determined to become
successful soon after graduating from college, creating a strong work ethic that is beneficial to any
company despite the generation s saturation in technology and weaker endurance in the cutthroat
world of modern business.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new societal mindset, the sooner a worker establishes their career the more beneficial it is,
gave the millennial generation the expectations of hard work and long careers placed on them by
older generations. By promoting success and achievements in the school systems and in job
markets, older generations have created a competitive reality in which millennials feel more
pressured to become successful. In her article The Try Hard Generation, Fareed Zakaria states the
observations older generations have made about millennials in relation to their attitude and thoughts
of success in modern

The Influence Of The Lewis And Clark Expedition
The Lewis and Clark Expedition was also known as the Corps of Discovery Expedition, it had a
significant impact throughout American History. In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson, as a
highlight of his political career he initiated this expedition shortly after the Purchase of Louisiana
and it was the first government sponsored exploration. The goal of this expedition was to find a
route across the continent to reach the Pacific Ocean and also make a general map of western
terrain; to establish relationships with Native Americans and trade with different native tribes; to
collect information of natural resources and to study on the wild animals and plants in the west. In

Critical Success Factors Of A Firm s Performance
Critical success factors are measures of those aspects of a firm s performance that are essential to
its competitive advantage and, therefore, to its success (Blocher, Stout, Juras, Cokins, 2013). One
of the original uses of Critical Success Factors as a concept is by McKinsey and Company in
Boston during the 1950s to determine how a corporation should compete in each of its many
businessunits (Isakson Sircar, 1990). As can be seen by the above quote, for a company in the real
estatebusiness all of these critical success factors are either dependent upon or relate to the
service provided by the firm. If a company is not providing the level or type of service which
consumers are demanding, then none of the critical success factors mentioned above will show a
positive position or future for the company. A generational change in the needs and wants of
consumers in the real estate business has caused the growth of what the traditional service
providers are calling hybrids, such as Redfin, Help A Sell, and Xome, which provide services to
consumers that focus heavily on technological innovation and cutting cost for their customers
(Inman, 2015).
Sales, profitability, and liquidity are the three financial critical success factors. These three do not
require much discussion as they are factors discussed by all when evaluating the current state of any
company in any industry. Without sales and profits a company cannot succeed and with a trend
showing these two things

A Study Of The Life And Career Of Lord Alfred Tennyson And Selected Criticism Of His Works Whether a person likes or dislikes the works of Lord Alfred Tennyson, most would agree that he was one of the most influential writers of his time period. Tennyson grew up in a wealthy family never wanting for anything. English author often regarded as the chief representative of the Victorian age in poetry. Tennyson succeeded Wordsworth as Poet Laureate in 1850; he was appointed by Queen Victoria and served 42 years. Tennyson s works were melancholic, and reflected the moral and intellectual values of his time, which made them especially vulnerable for later critic. Alfred, Lord Tennyson was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire. His father, George ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem Enoch Arden, Philip Ray and Annie Lee grow up together. Enoch wins her hand. He sails abroad and is shipwrecked for 10 years on a deserted island. Meanwhile Annie has been reduced to poverty. Philip asks her to marry him. Enoch returns and witnesses their happiness, but hides that he is alive and sacrifices his happiness for theirs. An Enoch Arden has come to mean a person who truly loves someone better than himself. The poem ends banally: So past the strong heoic soul away. / And when they buried him, the little port / Had seldom seen a costlier funeral. IDYLLS OF THE KING (1859 1885) dealt with the Arthurian theme, and THE ANCIENT SAGE (1885) and AKBAR S DREAM (1892) testified his faith in the redemption offered by love. Despite his pessimism about the human condition, the poet believed in God. In the 1870s Tennyson wrote several plays, among them poetic dramas QUEEN MARY (1875) and HAROLD (1876). In 1884 he was created a baron. Tennyson died at Aldwort on October 6, 1892 and was buried in the Poets Corner in Westminster Abbey. Soon he became the favorite target of attacks of many English and American poets who saw him as a representative of narrow patriotism and sentimentality. Later critics have praised again Tennyson. T.S. Eliot has called him the great master of metric as well as of melancholia and that he possessed the finest ear of any English poet since Milton. 1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Effects Of Nature On The Hospital Setting The use of nature in the hospital setting has been used to reduce stress and provide a getaway not only for the patient but for visitors and hospital staff as well. A review article by Ulrich, Quan, Zimring, Joseph, and Choudhary (2004) summarized the role of physical environment which included nature. Nature is emphasized in providing a distraction for the patient from their illness and the hospitalsetting. (Ulrich et al., 2004) Simply using pictures of nature has been found to reduce anxiety and reduce the dosage of pain medications of patients in the ICU. (Ulrich, 2004) The presence of nature through a bedside window was found to be just as beneficial in improving the patients recovery and well being. (Ulrich 2004) The presence of nature dramatically reduced the agitation of Alzheimer s patients when bathing with recorded nature sounds. (Ulrich, 2004) Hospital gardenscan be a direct source of nature in proximity for patients that are easily accessible. Scenic art can be soothing in comparison to a white wall. The descriptive colors can stimulate the mind and provide a focal point away from medical devices. All these examples support the claim that nature does remedy the stress patients feel in the hospital setting. It allows patients to relax and have a sense of calm when confronting the daunting idea of fighting for their lives against a sickness. Nature provides an escape that is outside the white walls of the hospital. Patients can forget for a moment that they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Research Paper On Jacob s Firstborn Jacob s Firstborn Although Joseph is commonly identified as Jacob s firstborn with Rachel, He was actually the eleventh of Jacob s sons. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: the sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob s firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun; the sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin: the sons of Bilhah, Rachel s maidservant, were Dan and Naphtali; and the sons of Zilpah, Leah s maidservant, were Gad and Asher. (Genesis 35: 22 26) So, Reuben was Jacob s firstborn; yet, he lost his birthright by committing fornication with his father s concubine. Nonetheless, God built the Jewish nation from that dysfunctional family. Reuben made a mess out of his life and a lot of people can identify with him, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. • 7. Tar Sands In Canada Oil and gas usage because of tar sands is now considered the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Canada, which means it actually produces more greenhouse gas emissions in North America than all the CO2 from vehicles. The tar sands create both a noxious air quality, and a polluted water quality with bitumen (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016). This issue, in relation to Canada, is most problematic at the Alberta tar sands. The scientific consensus on this issue is that the tar sands not only has become one of the biggest emissions problems in Canada, but also that it has become a major health concern because of the misunderstood and unknown pollutants in the air (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016; Dr. Gosselin, Dr. Hrudey, Dr. Naeth, Dr. Plourde, Dr. Therrien, Dr. Van Der Kraak, Dr. Xu., 2010). There is also a general scientific consensus that this change in the air quality contributes to climate change. This change in air quality also creates a serious threat to humans. The tar sands impact ambient air quality and produces noxious odours, which humans inhale and have the possibility to damage our lungs (Dr. Gosselin, et al., 2010). ... Hieronymus Bosch Northern Renaissance During the Northern Renaissance, the role of the artist and art in Northern Europe during the 16th century followed new patterns of thought that focused on humanism, individualism, skepticism and secularism. The Northern Renaissance artists placed perspective , an importance of everyday life. The theme of the Northern Renaissancewas a return to the Roman culture and Greco classics. However, Netherlandish painter Hieronymus Bosch had a perspective unlike any other painter, until 400 years later. Bosch was a perplexing, enigmatic and mesmeric artist who painted the secular commission Garden of Earthly Delights. That art historians believe is an iconography that depicts moral warning or a panorama of paradise lost. This tryptych alterpiece has been discussed by scholars over the years and they have proposed that given the work s central themes of sex and procreation, the painting may commemorate a wedding, as marriages were a common them of Netherlandish paintings. I never thought I would return home until I was an old lady, or, at least, someday with my entire family. Instead, there I was, underneath the celestial sky, on the side of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, in the town that I once lived in: La Esperanza. That night, a cool breath of air blew throughout the corners and curves of the cobblestone streets flapping the curtains of cement houses around like the skirt of a dancing woman. • 10. No One Factor Was Directly Responsible For The French... No one factor was directly responsible for the French Revolution. Years of feudal oppression and fiscal mismanagement contributed to a French society that was ripe for revolt. The economical downturn may have been the kickstarter that began the revolution as the taxes rose higher and outrage at the crown heightened. The economy began to destabilise in the late 1700s, and the king decided to bring in financial advisers to look at the weakened French treasurey. Each adviser gave the king the same warning that something had to be done and radical changes had to be made, but each were, in their turn, kicked out. After the financial crisis began to effect Francemore harshly, the king finally decided that something had to be done, and so he appointed a new controller general of finance, Charles de Calonne in 1783. Calonne suggested many ways to get France out of the spiral, but most balanced on the nobility paying taxes as well as the French public. He pleaded with them at the National Assembly, but to no avail. Thus, financial ruin became imminent. The Jacobins, led by Robespierre who wanted the king out of the picture entirely where the radicals of the Assembly. Whereas the Girondins took a more moderate approach to the monarchy. • 11. Bilingualism Is A For A Regular Way Between Researchers... To begin with, bilingualism is a term which is not used in a regular way between researchers and theoreticians. For example Macnamara (1967; cited in Cummins and Swain, 1986:07) defines bilinguals as those have at least one of the skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) even to a lower degree in their second language. At the other end of the scale Oestreicher (1974; cited in Cummins and Swain, 1986:07) defines bilinguals as those who show complete mastery of two different languageswithout interference . According to Bloomfield (1933; cited in Romaine, 1989:10) bilingualism is a native like control of two languages , it is the ability to speak two languages perfectly. Furthermore, bilingualism was analyzed into four levels in another paper: individual, family, societal, and school levels (McCarty, 2010). At the educational level, McCarty (2012) defines bilingual educationas bilingualism at the school level. It is not a matter of speaking two languages at home, which is bilingualism at the family level. Bilingual education is teaching in two languages in a school, more than one language as the medium of instruction, that is to say the use of another language for students to learn regular school subjects. Additionally, Appel and Muysken (1987:60) define bilingual education as the opportunity to be educated in two languages: the language of the home and the language of other groups in the community. • 14. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Throughout history, Shakespeare has been given credit for the popularizing of tragedies, causing a tragic hero to be seen as a reputable character. In Shakespeare s story Romeo and Juliet, two ill fated lovers are caught between the bitter hatred of their two families. Knowing their parents would never approve, Romeo and Juliet struggle to keep their love a secret. Though the story ends in what most people would view as a tragedy, Romeo fails to meet the characteristics of a tragic hero established by Aristotle, who first created the literary term. There are five distinguishing characteristics of a tragic hero identified by Aristotle: noble birth, a flaw resulting in the character s eventual downfall, a reversal of fate caused by the flaw, an increase in self awareness, and withdrawing a feeling of pity from the audience. Romeo is born of a noble birth and has a major flaw that will cause his eventual unfortunate fate, but he never achieves a greater sense of self awareness. In conjunction with not enhancing his own self awareness, he also does not inspire the audience to feel sympathy for him. When Shakespeare introduces the story of Romeo and Juliet, he gives the impression that Romeo will develope into a perfect tragic hero. In the opening line of the prologue, the Montagues are described as a wealthy and powerful family, Two households, both alike in dignity (1.Prologue.1). In these patriarchal societies, women served only to please and obey her husband. Men were viewed as heros, with intelligence and strength, while their wives value was simply due to their beauty. The Ramayana, which was written in this patriarchal era, exemplifies these beliefs. It achieves this by blaming females for the unfortunate events that take place throughout the story. This Hindu story was written around 500 BC by one of the first well known poets, Valmiki. This epic poem is written in the ancient language of Sanskrit and explores human values. What has been sympathy in the past, has become greed for more control, strength, and reverence from others. People have began to focus on being all knowing and dominating, rather than being just a friend. The conquest to gain more power has become a major influence on a person s actions; however, these actions are usually self destructive, leading to a person s downfall. Power is what drives people s actions, and eat people inside and out on their way to this ultimate goal. In the competition for power, only the people who best comprehend their environment and adapt appropriately can ultimately succeed.. The Mayor of Casterbridgefollows multiple different characters in a prison like society. In this society, there is a constant thirst for power, and a fight for this control. Each character tries to quench this desire in a different way, and ultimately many characters fail to reach this ideal situation. The characters in the novel are very driven in their ways that there is a limited change in the fight for power. Many argue that in order to have possession of all this power, one must be familiar about all aspects of society, rather than being distant. In his novel The Mayor of Casterbridge, Thomas Hardy argues this belief. Through the character of Farfrae, the goldfinch, and the isolated death of Henchard, Hardy advocates that innocence results in an expansion of power and self control. Donald Farfrae s personality ... Higher stages of grief implementation, utilization occurs within the grief and hospice care. Kubler Ross and Kessler (nd) indicates that misunderstanding surrounds her stages of death as those focused on the typical responses that people experience when they suffer a loss. Kubler Ross and Kessler acknowledge how everyone is unique, and this includes his or her grieving process. Within the framework of this model, the first stage of loss is denial. The emphasis on death and dying are for the person who is dying. Within the grieving process, the family is in denial that the loved one has died. This process is more figurative rather than factual. Denial is a defense mechanism implemented as they are not ready to acknowledge the loss of a loved one. When the individual becomes stronger, the denial diminishes, and the emotions began to surface. The second step within this model is he emergence of the anger stage. Accordingly, anger comes out in different ways. Losing loved results in anger towards yourself, God, the doctors and the person who died. Kubler Ross and Kessler (nd) indicates anger is an important component of the healing process to continue. A commentary of the poem The Broken Tower by Hart Crane A Broken Tower, by Hart Crane, is a metaphor rich poem that is very ambiguous but seems to describe the difficulties of the creative process and the way in which the artist is bound and compelled by it. Crane uses many religious metaphors and references, directly mentioning God and also bells, which are associated with churches. It is possible to interpret the poem in a religious sense, but it could be argued that religion and art are similar metaphors; that, for the poet, his writings are both a method of spiritual expression and a search for truth. The title, A Broken Tower, refers to a continuing metaphor in the poem and suggests the deconstruction of established paradigms which is necessary for artistic progress. Throughout the poem,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is congruent with the need to destroy the tower, or destroy traditional ideas. Supporting the strong visual imagery is the frequent mention of sound: the choir, voices, reveilles and echoes. Imperfection is once again alluded to with the entry of the poet into the broken world in order to trace the visionary company of love, its voice. This seems to directly refer to his creative process in seeking truth and beauty in his writing. It is also the most positive concept expressed in the poem thus far a wholly positive one, rather than the difficult process of destroying the obsolete mentioned before. However, unlike the mighty tower, this voice is an instant in the wind and not for long in other words, transitory. It is also mysterious and beyond the poets control, like the bells in the tower, as the poet admits he know[s] not whither [it is] hurled. Crane makes a more specific reference to his art; his word, as opposed to the Word of that tribunal monarch of the air. The latter belongs to God, who is depicted as powerful and judgemental: the deity of the Broken Tower. This could be seen as a personification of the judgemental ostracism that Crane faced as a homosexual. The God metaphor is expanded on, with mention of Christs wounds pledged once to hope, but also a rejection of it: cleft to despair. Throughout the novel, colonialism produces social, cultural and religious issues among the two colonial societies of opposing races. It s obvious that the English has tried hard enough to gain power over India. The first object that has attracted the English is the mesmerizing background of India. In the novel, as Forster describes, So abased, so monotonous is everything that meets the eye, that when the Ganges1 comes down it might be expected to wash the excrescence back into the soil (Forster, 5). The English first enter India as foreigners who were influenced by the scenery as described. Instantly, they intend to become the ruler of India. Englishmen start to build their own colonies apart from the Indian ones. Even though, the English had stayed in India as tourists, their construction of colonial buildings suggests that they want to live further apart. Blackstone and the Sale of Citigroup’s Loan Portfolio Essay HBS Project: Blackstone and the Sale of Citigroup s Loan Portfolio Blackstone and The Sale of Citigroup s Loan Portfolio In the second half of 2007, the banking industry and financial market showed signs of considerable stress by raising the default rate of mortgage and the decline in the value of residential mortgage backed securities. This had led to a re pricing of many debt instruments. By the end of 2007, Citigroup declared that the fair value of its U.S. sub prime related direct exposure could decline by 20%. This affected Citigroup s financial results and would incur further losses in the future. One of Citigroup s main concerns was the risk of their exposure from holding leveraged loans. Why is the Citigroup seeking to sell the portfolio of leveraged loan? Citigroup s leveraged loan exposure is composed of two main risks. First, holding these leveraged loans could be costly from a regulatory capital perspective because they hold a 100 percent risk weight. Citigroup would need $80 million of capital for every billion dollars of leverage loan. By selling these leveraged loans, Citigroup would reduce capital requirement. Second, a decline in the leveraged loan index (LCDX) value from 97 cents on the dollar to 92 cents on the dollar posed a $1.5 billion loss on its leveraged loan portfolio for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2007. Furthermore, Citibank did not intend to hold theses loans. Like many others, Citigroup had suffered unprecedented losses and was facing the prospect of having even more considerable losses. By selling these loans, the bank s image was greatly improved. 3. • 45. Critical Success Factors Of A Firm s Performance Critical success factors are measures of those aspects of a firm s performance that are essential to its competitive advantage and, therefore, to its success (Blocher, Stout, Juras, Cokins, 2013). One of the original uses of Critical Success Factors as a concept is by McKinsey and Company in Boston during the 1950s to determine how a corporation should compete in each of its many businessunits (Isakson Sircar, 1990). As can be seen by the above quote, for a company in the real estatebusiness all of these critical success factors are either dependent upon or relate to the service provided by the firm. If a company is not providing the level or type of service which consumers are demanding, then none of the critical success factors mentioned above will show a positive position or future for the company. A generational change in the needs and wants of consumers in the real estate business has caused the growth of what the traditional service providers are calling hybrids, such as Redfin, Help A Sell, and Xome, which provide services to consumers that focus heavily on technological innovation and cutting cost for their customers (Inman, 2015). Sales, profitability, and liquidity are the three financial critical success factors. These three do not require much discussion as they are factors discussed by all when evaluating the current state of any company in any industry. Without sales and profits a company cannot succeed and with a trend showing these two things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
