Drunk Driving In Texas
People in the Houston area, and throughout the state of Texas, are commonly arrested for suspicion
of drunk driving. In fact, the state s Department of Public Safety reports that there were 89,256
people arrested for driving under the influence in 2012 alone. Often, those facing such charges
choose to forego hiring an attorney, and instead handle their legal issues on their own. Even for
those facing first time offenses, however, it may be useful to obtain legal representation.
Familiarity with the legal rules and standards
For some, drunk driving charges can be confusing. This is because the charges people may face,
and the potential penalties, vary based on a number of factors, including their blood alcohol
content levels. Unlike the average person, DUI attorneys are typically well versed in the legal rules
and standards pertaining to alcohol related offenses. Therefore, ... Show more content on

Furthermore, they understand the factors that may compromise field sobriety tests and breath tests.
Thus, it may be helpful for drivers who have been arrested for DUI to obtain legal representation.
An attorney may question the accuracy of these types of tests, as well as whether their rights were
upheld during the traffic stops that led to their arrests.
Dealing with the consequences
If convicted of drunk driving in Texas, people face a range of potential penalties. According to
the state s Department of Transportation, these consequences may include jail time, a driver s
license suspension, and fines and fees. With few exceptions, DUI lawyers are familiar with these
penalties, and how they are typically imposed. Additionally, they may have knowledge of other
options, which may limit the legal repercussions people face if convicted of this offense. In some
cases, for example, an attorney may be able to negotiate for his client to be enrolled in an alcohol
treatment program in lieu of jail time.

Differences Between Micro Economics And Macroeconomics
This report will reveal information about differences between Micro Economics and Macro
Economics and the interrelation of them with regard to the drafting of economic policies to remain
economically current and relevant with global competitive markets. Moreover, it contains
explanation of the minimum efficient scale and clarification how firms and companies can
maintain selling at premium prices in the long run, with several examples of well known companies.

Differences between Micro economics and Macro economics First of all, let`s get to know what is
the Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. Microeconomics focuses on issues that influence
individuals and companies. This could mean studying the supply and demand for a specific product,

individual firms and house hold choices are not the matter of worry of Macroeconomics. It takes
care of the issues of national pay, unemployment, output, input, export import, GDP, inflation,
government budget deficiencies and so on. While both fields of economics regularly utilize the
same standards and formulas to solve problems, microeconomics is the investigation of economics
at a far smaller scale, while macroeconomics is the study of large scale economic issues. In
addition, Micro economics cope with normal demand and supply. On the other hand, macro
economics deals with Aggregate Demand and Aggregate supply (A. T. Clement and H. Keith,

After Villefort was going to let him free, he reads the letter the was given to him by Napoleon.
After finding out that that letter was addressed to his father, he burns the letter and sends him to
the Chateau d If. Villefort did this to protect his father and his own reputation. Dantes was in the
prison for 14 years. He was very angry because of this, so after being educated, getting money,
and escaping the Chateau d If, he planned to get revenge. After buying the previous house of the
Baroness Danglars and getting help from Benedetto (Andrea Cavalanti), he figures out that
Villefort and the Baroness Danglars buried their child Bertuccio in the yard. Many years later,
Benedetto is in jail and Villefort is his judge. After being told who his father was, Bertuccio goes
to court and tells everyone that Villefort buried him alive when he was born. Also, Villefort s wife

True Wealth, She Presents, By Juliet Schor
In Juliet Schor s True Wealth, she presents, argues for, and envisions an economy, which stresses on
the conceptualization of plentitude. In her publication, the main points can be broken down into
three separate categories: challenges, the ideals of plentitude, and the four fundamentals or solution
towards plentitude. The collection of formal analysis and insight towards key economical concepts
and data serves as a concrete foundation for her proposed framework of a sustainable economic and
environmental future.
In chapter 1, page 12 20, Schor present a series of statements to criticize on the sustainability and
concept of the BAU or defined as business as usual economy. She emphasizes that the BAU
economy will yield less of a return in profitability in the coming decades with a possibility towards
economic stagnation, and an increase in unemployment rate as a result of industrial decline in
profitability. Furthermore, she illustrates how there will be an increase in environmental pollution
and damages to the world, and scarcities in resources due to abnormal climate change in relation to
the profitability of natural resource industries such as agriculture and so forth.
Throughout chapter 2 and 3, Schor condemns the notion of BAU growth and a higher GDP. She
presents an Ecological Footprint, Carbon Footprint, and Biocapacity on page 60, and breaks down
the basis of the Environmental Kuznet Curve (EKC) on page 73 75. Through the analysis of these
figures, she

Problems To Illegal Immigration
Did you know that immigration is actually good for the society. My sources say that immigration
has been of great social economic and cultural benefit to the U.S. People have always said that
there is problems with immigration, It is not immigration that is the problem the real problem is
Illegal immigration. There are many solutions so I researched them to find out what the society can
do about illegal immigrants. Throughout my research my main question I wanted to eventually
answer was how can we solve a real world problem like immigration? Why aren t there laws that
could prevent the problem of immigration? After all my research it won t be an easy problem to
solve but it is worth solving. People need to know how to stop illegal immigrants from entering this
country.
There are many problems in the world including immigration, too many immigrants are entering the
united states illegally and it is causing the population to overflow. Even though this problem is
illegal immigrants so if should only affect illegal immigrants, it unfortunately affects all the
immigrants. This problem of immigration started when people started to want to immigrate to the
United States. After they immigrated they spread word to all their friends of how much of a better
life they were having here, maybe a better government, or maybe the freedom of religion. No matter
the cause all their friends have now started to immigrate here ,and the United States started to have

Isabel Briggs Myers Analysis
Isabel Briggs Myers is quoted as saying, We cannot safely assume that other people s minds
work on the same principles as our own. All too often, others with whom we come in contact do
not reason as we reason, or do not value the things that we value, or are not interested in what
interests us . (Butler Bowdon 2015 p. 46) Myers brings up a great point stating that everybody
does not think alike. As a Guardian myself, I am a strict rule follower, who is dependable and
loyal. My son is also a Guardian, whom I see many of the same traits as myself, but both of us
tend to butt heads easily. As fellow Guardians we do not always reason the same or have similar
interests. God has made us unique, even in our own personality type. As a Guardian,

Hydrothermal Energy Lab Report
back to 1988 journal contributions by Wächtershäuser [10,15] who hypothesized that iron
sulfide chemistry under hydrothermal conditions played a central role in prebiotic chemistry (i.e.,
the ironsulfur world). The hypothesis rests on the notion that the oxidation of FeS to form pyrite
in hydrothermal submarine vent conditions provided the electrochemical power for the reduction
of CO2 to organic molecules. The ``pyrite pulled [11] reaction as proposed by Wächtershäuser
was as follows [10,15]: FeS C H2S ! FeS2 C H2: (19) This proposed reaction provided the
reducing power for the reduction of CO2 preceding the synthesis of biologically relevant
compounds. Thermodynamic calculations by Schoonen et al. [438] associated with the FeS

A further analysis of the CO2 reduction mechanism indicated that a high activation energy exists
for the transfer of electrons from pyrrhotite to CO2 (even though the overall reaction is
thermodynamically favorable). Luther [439], using molecular orbital based arguments, also
suggested that the HOMO of FeS (0.5 eV below the LUMO of CO2) could provide a viable
reducing agent. It was also brought up that FeSaq molecular clusters are present in Fe rich
hydrothermal vent fluids, and it was recently hypothesized that such species could facilitate the
reaction [1] relative to a macroscopic FeS solid. Much of the work involving transition metal
sulfides and their relationships to metabolic processes has been reviewed [12,440]. It is useful
in the context of this review to bring forward some selected prior studies. Keefe et al. [441]

A View from the Bridge
Literature Coursework Modern Drama
What is the dramatic function of Alfieri s character in A View from the Bridge ?
A View from the Bridge is a play written by Arthur Miller. Miller s inspiration for this play is
close to his heart. He grew up in New York City; his parents were illegal immigrants into the
United States looking for work. Alfieri is a key component, not only is he a character he is also
a narrator. He acts as a chorus to the play and an aid to the audience. Alfieri plays many small
roles to combine and create a depth and understanding to the play such as the connection to the title
of the play, how he is utilises time switches and the effectiveness of them, how he behaves as a
chorus of the Greek tragedies and how he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He takes on a dual role of the lawyer and commentator. He alerts Eddie that he won t have a friend
in the world if he keeps pushing the boundaries, he already knows Eddie s tragedy is inevitable and
builds a sense of foreshadowing. Miller has three purposes in this scene for Alfieri: to reveal the
acceptance of Eddie s feelings towards Catherine, to convey how it might affect Beatrice and to
be the voice of reasoning. He bluntly tells Eddie that there is no positive way out. When Eddie
implies he may have feelings for Catherine Alfieri is already aware and implies that this will be
his fatal flaw. he never realises it, but though the years there is too much love for the daughter,
there is too much love for the niece . This explicitly tells Eddie to let the feelings go, Alfieri is
conscious about the fact Eddie does have strong feelings towards Catherine and he is also a
perceptive character which Eddie is not, but Alfieri is alert that this will be Eddie s downfall.
During Eddie s confession time he confides his fear that Rodolpho is homosexual and is
pretending to love Catherine as an opportunity to obtain a green card. Eddie says He s stealing
from me! and it s breakin my heart . This really allows the audience to feel the intensity of the
frustration Eddie feels. The scenes have now created a cathartic effect because the tension has been
released now that Eddie s feelings are in the open from the audience s

Anti-Semitism In Nazi
In what ways did Hitler and the Nazi Party adopt and adapt various elements of traditional and
modern forms of anti Semitism?
The Nazi party rise to power during the 1930 s was radically influenced and inspired by anti
Semitic philosophy, in a number of forms, that being, drawing on their historical origins of
traditional anti Semitism that is religious bias, to evolving to modern forms which ultimately for
Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party was illustrated through discrimination and racial prejudice. The anti
Semitic beliefs also had a significant impact on economic and political circumstance in Germany
following World War 1. At that time, Germany was not known for its stability as a country, a trend
that had been reoccurring in German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He further goes on to explain that Nazi anti Semitism had a black and white approach to the anti
Semite ideology, and that there were two main discourses present within the ideology, of pseudo
biological and pseudo Christian themes. Essentially parlayed into society as the rescindment of
Jewish liberation during the Enlightenement by the Nazi Party reigniting fear and debate of the
Jewish Question. This dehumanization of the Jews through the analysis of their blood worth and
their threat to sacred Aryan blood, particularly following the defeat of World War that Germans
had to purge their blood of racial weakness and foreign admixtures, and to increase its biological
substance .
Burrin expresses that Nazi anti Semitism became the phenomena that it was because of the Nazi
ability to account Jews fault for previous historical event. Making the anti Semite belief that the
solution to these historical failings could be prevented with the preservation of the Aryan race and
the eradication of the demonic

The South Carolina Pre Revolutionary Stono Rebellion
The South Carolina pre revolutionary Stono Rebellion led to many different forms of reactions
from the people in colonial South Carolina. It can be characterized as that of a further dark
future for the slaves, while creating more fear and discontent for the white citizens of the area.
The revolts output created attitudes that led to the American revolution for whites, while
creating the harsh and negative attitudes displayed toward blacks which we still see today. The
repercussions created a greater sense of fear for Africans among the white population in
Southeastern North America, one which necessitated a means for controlling what they believed
to be a dangerous people. The revolt also showed the whites sense for blaming others for the
uprising among the slaves, as multiple Spanish men are claimed to have incited the slaves to rise
up and kill to gain their freedom in Florida. The Stono Rebellion took place in South Carolina in
1739. Named after the Stono River, near where many of the whites were killed, the event happened
on September 9th, with various reports differing on how long those in the revolt remained at large.
The revolt consisted of slaves breaking away from their bondage, taking up arms and joining those
in the cause. The rebellion resulted in the deaths of men, women, and children on various properties
destroyed by the revolting slaves. The beginning of the uprising, and the motives which sprouted
the event are mired with controversy. In Colonel

from three witches sparks his ambition and tempts Macbeth into committing horrible deeds out of
paranoia, arrogance, and spite. Macbeth begins his chain of murders due to the fact that he
wishes to become the King of Scotland. In Act One, Scene three of Macbeth, three witches arrive
and prophesize that Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor and the King. Soon after the
witches disappear, Macbeth is delivered the news that he was named Thane of Cawdor. This

The Pros And Cons Of Electric Vehicles
Electric vehicles began taking the market by storm when Nissan introduced its mass production
Leaf model in 2011. Since then, nearly every manufacturer has brought its own EV to the market.
The future appears bright for EVs, especially as engineering improvements make them more
efficient and cost effective. That said, we will examine the good, the bad and the ugly of electric
vehicles to help you make an informed decision about this emerging technology.
The Good
1. No emissions. One of the big reasons EVs are so attractive to some is that they emit absolutely
no emissions. If you are worried about your direct impact on the environment, an electric vehicle
will allay those concerns.
2. No gas. How often do you visit the service station to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Less maintenance. Electric cars still require maintenance, although oil changes, exhaust system
care and spark plug changes are a thing of the past. One thing that will not change is brake system
care, although the regenerative braking system on EVs usually means your brake pads will
typically last twice as long than with a conventional gas powered model.
The Bad
1. Your upfront cost. Electric vehicleprices have come down, but they are still higher than
comparable gas powered models. A Nissan Leaf will cost you at least $30,000 new, while a well
equipped Nissan Sentra costs about $20,000. Fortunately, taxpayers may find themselves eligible
for a $7,500 federal tax credit as well as state level credits, rebates and incentives. Ideally, you will
want to recoup the cost of your investment, something government backed incentives make
possible. In a best case scenario, the bad can actually be categorized as good.
2. Restricted range. Run low on gas and you can fuel your conventional vehicle within minutes.
With an electric vehicle, you can only travel so many miles before you must connect to a power
source. Even with longer ranges for second generation EVs, weather and driving factors can
reduce the published range by one third or more according to the EPA. Suddenly, that EV with a
150 mile range may need a charge after just 100 miles of

The Modern Prometheus
(An essay on why Frankenstein would be named a Modern Prometheus) When you read the book
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley you may oversee something very important that could possibly
answer many questions for you. One question it has answered for me was what was the purpose for
writing Frankenstein and to me it really doesn t have much to do with it just being a horror story.
To me it is about a man who defy s the laws of nature and because of that experience s the aftermath
of bringing the deceased back to life. Now another thing that may be racing through your mind is
why exactly would Mary Shelley title this The Modern Prometheus. Well, in my research I had

The Importance Of Meaningful Life
A meaningful life means find happiness in everything you do, it means enjoy and share time
with your loved ones, and have a purpose in life. To find happiness, we must go through
different tribulations and situations where life doesn t seem to be so easy. Happiness is an art
that can be learned, it describes a deep sense of inner well being, peace and vitality. You must
know that even from your worst moments in life there is something good to take out of it. If we
really want to be happy we must be grateful for what we have, we must enjoy everything that has
been given to us. We must remember that out there, there is people wishing or working hard for
what we already have. As we read In Search of April Raintree we can find different situations
during April s childhood where she finds happiness in simple things. One December, we all
went downtown to watch the Santa Claus parade. That was such a thrilling, magical day for me.
After that, we went to visit an aunt and uncle where Cheryl and I had a glorious old time
feasting on cake, fruit, and hot chocolate. Then we walked home. Dad threw snowballs at Mom
for a bit before he carried sleepy eyed Cheryl in his arms. I was enchanted by all the coloured
Christmas lights and the decorations in the store windows. I think that was the best day ever,
because Mom and Dad laughed for real (P.13) this passage shows us how our childhood memories
can stick with us forever, they revive the happiness we felt that moment. Next important

Analysis Of Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway
A key belief within our society is that there are many sides to any story, and to gain full
understanding, one more confront and engage with all aspects. There are instances, however,
when the scope of the story makes the full truth unattainable. This is the case of World War I. The
Great War was nearly impossible to understand while it was taking place, and although nearly one
hundred years have passed, little concrete clarity has been achieved regarding the overall truths
and experiences of this war. Claire Tylee, a historian who focuses on the woman s role in World
War I, highlights the ineffable aspect of the war even for the most skilled authors, saying that:
reviewing a novel in 1917, Virginia Woolfsuggested that the War was... Show more content on

And the war goes on, indifferent to these human actions, meaningless, destructive, and apparently
endless (Hynes, 127). This was a war that touched every aspect of human life, even diluting
something as pure as love. Living with another but in internal isolation became extremely
common because: all wars divide divide not only our side from theirs, but soldiers from civilians,
men from women, one generation from another, war lovers from war haters. These divisions don t
end with the war s last shot: they continue into the following years... (Hynes, 337). The Great War
created a new kind of love story, thus reflecting the truths and lasting impacts on all corners of
society. After this war, the previous perception of love was no longer attainable, as each individual
lived in the harsh reality brought upon by extreme isolation of experience.
The climate upon returning home can be understood by observing the strain in even the closest
relationships, thus showing the isolation endured within society. Since Septimus and Rezia met
during wartime, their relationship fit within the context of chaos, so when placed in a quiet city, the
relationship that they had built crumbled. This partially was due to inconsistency in experience, as
it was impossible to understand what someone else had gone through. Septimus, for example, had
lost his best friend and lover in battle, yet had never let himself confront these feelings. Rezia, on

Essay about Nietzsche and the Prophet
Nietzsche and the Prophet
According to Friedrich Nietzsche s Thus Spoke Zarathustra, the meaning of human existence is to
make room for the Superman : a superhuman who perseveres in its capacity for unlimited self
creation. (Pg. 49)[1] In order for humankind to embrace its self creative nature and allow for the
transcendence into this superhuman condition, however, we must first learn to destroy our present
tables of values; it is our desperate adherence to traditional (religious) values which prevents us
from actualizing our potential for self creation. It is important to note, however, that it is not the
creation of these traditional values in and of itself that Nietzsche condemns. After all, self creation
is not only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, in spite of the immanent desire to be rid of the past, Nietzsche s protagonist, Zarathustra, finds
himself unable to completely sever himself from it. Hence Zarathustra s struggle to affirm his past
while pursuing a self creating future.
The aim of this paper is threefold. First, I will provide evidence for the interpretation of The
Prophet as an elucidation of the struggle of Nietzsche s protagonist to reconcile this inalienable
relationship between the past and the future. In doing so, I will focus on three main facets of the
passage, namely, the prophet, Zarathustra s dream and, the misinterpretation of the dream by the
disciple. Second, I will demonstrate how The Prophet can simultaneously be interpreted so as to
advance Nietzsche s own view of human nature as self creativity. Third, I will explicate what
ramifications my interpretations of The Prophet has on the relationship between Nietzsche and his

The Inalienable Relationship Between the Past and the Future
The Prophet begins with Zarathustra being told that Everything is empty, everything is one,
everything is past! . (Pg. 155) That is, the prophet informs Zarathustra that the present day way of
life has become tired and saturated; there is no more advancement to be made in the absence of a
rudimentary transformation of humankind. In short, the time has come for the self destruction and
re creation of humankind; the time has come for humankind

1.There are several factors that can have an impact on the relationship between employees and
employers; these are identified as internal and external factors.
Internal factors;
Pay and rewards attract and retain employees. Having the right pay and benefit for employees
motivate them. This helps employees feel valued and can remove animosity between employee and
employer. Training and development has a positive impact on employees, this shows investment
from the employer and enhances career progression.
Organisation culture has a large impact on the relationship, if an organisation has a certain culture
that is generally expected from employees. For example, employees are expected to work more
than their contracted hours however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, in turn, helps organisations move forward without conflict with employees.
4.The legal system supports working parents in various ways; an expectant mother is entitled to
attend appointment and ante natal classes should they be during her normal working hours without
losing any salary due to the absence from work.
A parent whose partner has given birth is entitled to 2 weeks leave from work paid at statutory
paternity leave, there is now an option for additional parental leave.
An employee who is placed with a child through adoption are entitled to the same rights as an em
ployee who is on maternity leave, they are entitled to 52 weeks leave with 6 weeks being paid at
90% or their average weekly earnings followed by 33 weeks at statutory adoption pay.
Employees are entitled to take a reasonable amount of time off work for dependants, this could be
to make funeral arrangements or to look after a sick child.
5.Treating employees fairly in relations to pay is important for both employee and employer.
The Equal Pay Act 1970 was introduced to ensure that women and men are paid the same for the
same role. Organisations that actively treat all employees the same in relation to pay promote
retention of employees. Employees won t be underpaid for the work they do in relation to a
colleague in a similar role, employees won t feel discriminated against thus performance of work
isn t effected. The

Questions On The Chinese Room
In Minds, Brains, and Programs John Searle objects to Computational Theory of Mind (CTM),
particularly that running a program on a computer and manipulating symbols does not mean that
the computer has understanding, or more generally a mind. In this paper I will first explain
Searle s Chinese Room, then I will explain CTM and how it relates to the Chinese Room.
Following this I will describe how the Chinese Room attacks the CTM. Next I will explain the
Systems Reply to the Chinese Room and how the Systems Reply actually undermines Searle s
conclusion in the Chinese Room. Then I will describe Searle s response to the Systems Reply and
how that response undermines the Systems Reply. Lastly, I will evaluate Searle s reply to the
Systems Reply and defend the Systems Reply against the points Searle raises against the Systems
Reply. To explain the Chinese Room I will first explain the instructions in the Chinese room; then I
will explain how the man inside the room manipulates these instructions. Finally, given that the man
only operates the instructions, Searle s conclusion is that the man does not understand Chinese.
Therefore, the whole system does not understand Chinese. The instructions in the room are a
complex set of rules that guide the man inside to receive inputs and produce outputs all written in
Chinese. The instructions, written in English, tell the man if you see this Chinese symbol paired
with this Chinese symbol put down these Chinese symbols, or if

Journey of the Hero in Harry Potter and the SorcererВґs...
The American author, teacher, and mythologist, Joseph John Campbell, is universally known for
his work in comparative folklore and culture. His studies led him to discover the pattern, journey
of the hero. The sequence consists of three stages and exists in many dealings with Greek
mythology as well as current popular culture. A modern example of the occurring cycle is the 2001
production, Harry Potterand the Sorcerer s Stone. In the film, an orphaned young boy named Harry
Potteris invited to study at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In time, he is involved in
a dangerous quest to save the wizarding community from the grasps of the Dark Lord. The film

Harry s departure from his old life is evident once he steps on to Platform Nine and Three
Quarters to board the Hogwarts Express (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone). Leaving his
previously known home is not difficult because of the ten years of neglect that occurred in the
Dursley household. Harry has only been in two magical places and he already feels more
comfortable than ever. Now that he has crossed over to the hidden world of magic, he is ready to
embark on his adventure.
Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will eventually lead him
to achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after curfew, Harry receives detention
in the forbidden forest, and comes face to face with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to
place when Harry travels down the trap door into the chambers; such as devil s snare, a human
wizard s chess game, and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone). The series of
tests make Harry s mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the unsuccessful
trials bring him closer to his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry s journey strengthen him
emotionally and physically, readying him to defeat the traitor at the end of his succession of
tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal comes from the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily
gives up his body to the Dark Lord. Harry sees himself in the mirror and realizes he is magically in
possession of the Sorcerer s Stone. Shortly

Eowyn s Contribution To My Identity
This unit also ties in with Eowyn s heroic opposal to societal norms for females on Middle Earth.
Eowyn s character and identity is relegated by the community and how the race of Men expect
women to act. Although she understands that she is supposed to be demure and stay among other
women, she is still given some power by the community. During both the encounter with the wargs,
wolves of Isengard, and during the Battle of the Hornburg at Helm s Deep, Eowyn was given
power to lead the citizens, particularly women, of Rohan by two distinct men in power. She

Shah Isma il’s Establishes a Persian State
Safawid rule over Persia originates from Shah Isma il s capture of Tabriz after hisvictory over
the Aq Qoyunlu ruler Alwand at Sharur in 1501 A.D. However, before Isma il could be regarded
the successor to the Aq Qoyunlu in Azarbayjan he would have to defeat the ozbegs and the
Ottomans to produce a contiguous Persian State. This would take decades to accomplish. Overall,
The Safawid state established by Shah Isma il relied on three elements to maintain power. The
first was the loyalty of the Qizilbash tribesmen providing a military capacity to the shah in his
capacity as head of the Safawid order. The second was the local bureaucracy, recruited especially
from members of the urban population of the cities of central Persia. This was an essential part of
the machinery of maintaining governing power once the military conquest was over. The third and
perhaps the most important element was the State s new official faith, the Twelvervariety of Shi
ism, whose adherents accept a line of twelve infallible imams, beginning with Ali and ending with
Muhammad al Mahdi. It is likely that a large majority of the Persian people at the time that Shah
Isma il began to establish his influence adhered to the Sunni branch of Islam. The initial years of the
Safawid dynasty brought on conversion to Shi ism as compulsory for the entire population. Why
conversion was necessary is not immediately clear, but the form of Shi ism chosen by Shah Isma il

Red Giants Research Paper
Nolan Harris
Red Giants
Red giants are dying stars that are in their last part of stellar evolution. Every star will eventually
turn into a red giant over some point in time. Stars turn into red giants when there is no more
hydrogen fuel for the star. Inside of a star, hydrogen goes through a process called nuclear fusion
where hydrogen is getting converted into helium. Nuclear fusion helps create energy for the star so
that the force of gravity isn t crushing the star together. This is also the reason why stars are bright.
When the star runs out of hydrogen to convert into helium, the energy that kept the star from
collapsing is now gone. Gravity then takes over and compresses the star. From this point, the
helium atoms are able to combine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are very luminous stars that have a relatively cool surface temperature compared to the stars
in the main sequence that have about the same luminosity. Red giants typically have low to
intermediate mass than a regular star, even though they are about 1000 times larger in the red
giant phase of stellar evolution. Red supergiants are known as the biggest stars by radius. The
biggest red supergiant is mentioned as VY Canis Majoris. This star is about 1800 times bigger
than our sun. Although there are plenty of red giants in space, none of them are that close to us.
The closest red giant is Gamma Crucis (88 light years away).3
We do not have to worry about the world ending due to the sun becoming a red giant anytime in
our lifetime, but plenty of them are out there. Red giants are a very interesting part in stellar
evolution as we have gained lots of knowledge about them over history. Our knowledge of these
stars helps us understand stars and their stellar evolution that much more.

human control? It s a strange question but with companies like Uber using these self driving cars
for their business the concept of self drivingcars is no longer just an idea for the future, it s quite
apparent that it s a current event. Cons, most likely the more important part of this issue is the
safety of the passengers and other drivers. These cars have been known to cut off busses and
make incomplete stops at stop signs. The safety of these cars is often criticized but even if they do
make a few mistakes is it better than the average human driving?

Michael Eisner is an American entertainment executive, whose leadership in the 1980s and 1990s
revitalized the Walt Disney Company. Born in New York City, Eisner was educated at Denison

When you have a strict culture with a million rules, I see that it affects the whole organization and

entertaining people so their culture is set in being energized, fun and exciting. Having this type
of culture also bring more people into the company and these talented individuals may have the
next million dollar idea. One of Eisner s ways of getting people to be idea generators was by
having systems called the gong show and charettes . These two systems were great ways to get
people to speak their thoughts and generate ideas. They would meet once a week and people
would say ideas and they would get reactions from other people at the meeting. Having these two
systems was a good way for people in an organization to know one another and how they tend to
operate. Also, it is one way for an organization to become big and successful.
One of the things I don t agree with in Eisner s style of being an idea generator is how these
meetings are driven with long hours, and sometimes being day after day. He would put
everybody in the same room for ten to twelve hours or even for a couple of days. He feels the
longer the better and the more excruciating the better. I can t see basically torturing people in one

The Compact Theory, which mostly designed by QuГ©bec Nationalist, indeed, has been the

the 1867 was basically an agreement between English and French people in Canada. Provincial

This is a country of different nations and each nation allowed a different territory. Under the BNA
Act those expansive matters fittingly treated nationally, like defence and post office, were under
the federal government, while controls over property, local issues, districts, and most private law
matters went to the provinces. The setting of the constitution was a hierarchy system from the
colonial office to provincial legislatures . The compact theory lets us believe, that the provincial
legislature were the privilege voice and the means of the expression of the people of those
provinces. The federal government does not represent a voice of Ontarian or people of QuГ©bec.
Most Canadian, believe that provinces represent more closely the interest of each their own people
than the federal government does.
The founder of BNA Act created two levels of governments out of political expediency, as a
political convenience. They could not have two countries, but rather, they could have two levels of
government instead. The problem is that by creating two levels of government, the British did not
realize that they are going to give an objective, tangible structure that can be the base of compact
theory. After Confederation, QuГ©bec premiers HonorГ© Mercier and Oliver Mowat allied to
built the strongest record of provincial rights advocacy . Both premiers advocated for compact

Analysis Of Lee Canter s Video The Power Of Mission
In Lee Canter s video The Power of Mission (1993) he questions the initial motives that teachers
had entering the field. Many teachers entering the field of education have a crystal clear view of
what they want to accomplish. However, as time progresses teachers lose sight of what they
wanted to do (Canter, 1993). They become bogged down by the demands of the job and life and
have a hard time seeing the beauty in what they do. Canter offers a remedy for teachers all
teachers, especially those who ve lost touch with why they chose this profession. The remedy is
creating a mission statement that encompasses your teaching goals and posting it in the classroom
as a constant reminder (Canter, 1993). The importance of having a strong mission statement
should be expressed to all teachers. In order to be an effective teacher, one must have a mission
statement that not only addresses their professional goals as a teacher but also their goals for
reaching the children they impact daily. Being a teacher is one of the most difficult professions in
the world. We are responsible for the educationof all the future citizens. As teachers, content will
always be a major component of what we do but it should not be what drives us. Kottler, Zehm, and
Kottler (2005), authors of On Being a Teacher: The Human Dimension , believe that the goal of
education is not to teach subject matter but to promote the development of productive and positive
human beings. In order to accomplish that,

A Study on Operant and Classical Conditioning
Operant and Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning best explains reflective responding that
is largely controlled by stimuli preceding the response, while operant conditioning is the kind of
learning influenced by stimulus events that follow the responses. (Weiten). In operant conditioning,
reinforcement is defined as after the fact. Reinforcement follows a response and increases tendency
to make the response. In classical conditioning, the reinforcement comes before the response is
made and increases tendency to make the response. A middle school teacher intercepted a note that
contained personal information, read it out loud, and the student the note was intended for leaves
the class and school, feels sick at going to school the next day, and becomes ill at the thought of
the teacher. This is a classical conditioning case. (Daniels, 2009). If the student s behavior had
happened before the teacher intercepted the note and read it out loud, it would have been a case of
operant conditioning. In classical conditioning, the student s reaction to the teacher, classroom, and
the school is a conditioned response and creates a physiological reaction. In operant conditioning,
the teacher s reaction to the student s behavior, if reversed, would have been conditioned and
creates a physiological reaction. Operant responding is controlled by consequences as response
outcomes (R O) are learned. In operant conditioning the student s response can be considered a
consequence

The Cost Of A Higher Education
All through life, most children are told that getting a higher education is the only way to have a
successful life. Each year the cost of college rises, with that the total student debt rises as more
students take out loans to help pay for his or her education. An astounding 1.2 trillion dollars is the
United States student debtamount, and every year it continues to grow. (Investor s Business,
2015, p. A14). According to new reports, 27.3% of student loans are delinquent and that on
average a student s loan debts is roughly a little over $20,000. (Investor s Business, 2015, p.
A14). Block (2014) says that about 40% of loan borrowers had a balance less than $10,000 and that
about 3.7% had balances that were over $100,000.
Although these numbers can seem daunting and a little disconcerting, with the right knowledge
and education, students can obtain their degrees and have minimal debt to deal with. While
¬¬¬there are loans and grants that students are able to receive, a higher education should be
more affordable for both students and parents of students. The need for a degree has increased
dramatically since more and more employers are requiring it. Students and parents of students
are paying the price by going in debt so they can hopefully get a better paying job. While most
people are not in debt to the horrid student loans, the student debt problem is not going away; we

The Summary Of Air France Flight 447
Air France Flight 447 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Paris, France Incident Summary The following
information is based on the findings of the BEA (Bureau d EnquГЄtes et d Analyses) (2012); On
May 31, 2009, Air France flight 447, an Airbus A330, took off from Rio de Janeiro enroute to
Paris, France. After a normal departure the crew climbed to their cruising altitude of FL350. The
captain was designated as the pilot monitoring (not flying) and the first officer was the pilot flying.
About 3 hours into the flight the crew noticed some weather ahead and began to encounter slight
turbulence. Due to performance limitation on the aircraft the crew was unable to climb above the
weather. The turbulence increased slightly as the flight continued, but less than 10 minutes later
the turbulence stopped. Once clear of the turbulence the captain woke the second first officer to
take his place. The captain stayed while the first officer briefed the second officer, then exited the
cockpit. The first officer (pilot flying) occupied the left seat, while the second officer (pilot
monitoring) occupied the right seat. Shortly there after, the turbulence increased slightly. The first
officer and second officer made the decision to slow from Mach 0.82 to Mach 0.80 and to turn
about 12 degrees left of course. About two minutes later the autopilot and auto thrust disconnected.
As the first officer took the controls the aircraft began to roll right, so he rolled the aircraft to the
left and pitched up.

Delta Air Pollution
The most polluted cities of the U.S are in California. One of these cities is Los Angeles and Long
Beach. Ports significantly contributes to regional air pollution. Vast amounts of air pollution that
affect the health of workers and people living in nearby is caused by diesel engines which power
ships, trucks, trains, and cargo handling equipment. In the Los Angeles area, oceangoing ships,
harbor tugs, and commercial boats such as passenger ferries emit many times more smogforming
pollutants than all power plants in the Southern California region combined (Harboring Pollution

In addition, diesel exhaust increases cancer risks, and a 2000 California study found that diesel
exhaust is responsible for 70 percent of the cancer risk from air pollution (vi). In fact, recent studies
have linked diesel exhaust with asthma. Major air pollutants from diesel engines at ports that can

Sickle Cell Disease Essay
Introduction The term sickle cell disease (SCD) involves a range of disorders characterized by
the occurrence of at least one haemoglobin S (Hb S) allele and a second abnormal allele allowing
abnormal haemoglobin polymerization leading to a symptomatic disorder. Most patients often
are healthy at early stages in their life and become symptomatic later on in their life time. Fetal
haemoglobin levels decrease and haemoglobin s levels increase. Sickle cell disease is
determined at conception, when a person acquires his/her genes from the parents. Sickle cell
disease cannot be caught, acquired, or otherwise transmitted. A study carried out in 2012 by

The mutation of sickle cells reflects on a change in the amino acids protein which transports
oxygen into haemoglobin. This is the protein which gives red blood cells its colour and consist
of two subunits the first being the alpha subunit which is common in individual s with sickle cell
disease. The second subunit is beta this has an amino acid at position 6 instead of the glutamic
acid being present. If the beta globin gene is sickle and the other gene is normal this individual
is a carrier of sickle cell disease, this condition is known as sickle cell trait, it s a rare condition.
If both the beta globin genes are sickle then the individual has sickle cell disease, those with
sickle cell trait cannot develop sickle cell disease. This shift is the basis of all the problems that
occur in people with sickle cell disease. Some types of haemoglobin molecules such as fetal
haemoglobin which is found before birth block the interactions between haemoglobin s and
deoxygenated molecules. This haemoglobin disappears within the first year after birth. One
approach to treating sickle cell disease is to rekindle production of fetal haemoglobin. The drug,
hydroxyurea induces fetal haemoglobin production in some patients with sickle cell disease and
improves the clinical condition of some people (Okam,

The Disproportionate Incarceration Of African American...
The Disproportionate Incarceration of African American Males
The United States currently has the highest incarcerated population in the world with 2.2 million
adults incarcerated in 2014 (Kaeble, Glaze, Tsoutis, Minton, 2016). African American males
represent a disproportionate amount of the incarcerated population, which is defined by those
confined in either prison or jail (Crutchfield Weeks, 2015). Although, African Americans account
for roughly 13% of the United States population, they comprised 37% of the male prison
population (Carson, 2015; U.S. Census Bureau, 2016) and 35.4% of the male jail population within
the United States in 2014 (Minton Zeng, 2015). The imprisonment of over 750,000 African
American males constitutes a social issue because it targets a historically oppressed minority
causing rippling social and economic effects throughout the country.
Vulnerability to Incarceration Within African American communities, individuals with low
incomes or low education levels are at increased risk of incarceration due to less options for legal
employment and little resources to successfully navigate the legal system (Crutchfield and Weeks,
2015; Mtichell Caudy, 2015; Pettit Western, 2004). Although the incarceration of black peopleis an
international issue (Warde, 2013) which affects both men and women (Christian Thomas, 2009),

Then, I believe that warning labels should be on fast foods because we need to know what we

We all can t eat the same meats so it s important to eat only what we can that won t cause us to

The book In the the Time of the Butterflies, shows the events leading up to and showing the
murders of three of the four Mirabal sisters: Patria, Minerva, and Maria Teresa. The Mirabal
Sisters death was a tragedy for the whole Dominican Republic and ultimately led to Trujillo s
assassination. Leading up to their death, Trujillo and his regime hinted at some way that they
would disappear. In Chapter 12, Trujillo says My only two problems are the damn Church and the
Mirabal sisters. When he said this he meant that the only people who were stopping him from
absolute power was the Church and the Mirabal sisters. So this would indicate that they wouldn t

All three sisters, Maria Theresa, Minerva and Patria, and their driver, Rufino de la Cruz, were
found, dead, at the bottom of a chasm off the road. The SIM, trujillo s regime, wanted this
accident to look like they had fallen off the road and had been killed. In reality, their Jeep had
been stopped on the road and was ambushed by the police. Patria saw a nearby truck driver and

was thrown off the road into the chasm. When others found the scene, it wa clear that there were
fingerprints all over the car and the trauma to their bodies was not that related to a car accident.
One of the murderers, Ciriaco de la Rosa recalled that fateful

This rendition won him a Gold Record in Holland. He also recorded Frank Sinatra s My Way
and Lucho Gatica s El Reloj . It can be said that The Mighty Sparrow continued to climb the
ladder of success in his life, while becoming the most popular caypsonian of all time by the
people. According to Manuel (2006), Sparrow demonstrated year after year, with his social

enjoyed a big hit there with his single, Nora . Farlex mentioned that for 30 years, Lord Kitchener
ran his own calypso tent, Calypso Revue, by which he nurtured the talent of many calypsonians,
who are: Calypso Rose, David Rudder, Black Stalin and Denyse

In her publication, the main points can be broken down into three separate categories: challenges, the ideals of plentitude, and the four fundamentals or solution towards plentitude. The collection of formal analysis and insight towards key economical concepts and data serves as a concrete foundation for her proposed framework of a sustainable economic and environmental future. In chapter 1, page 12 20, Schor present a series of statements to criticize on the sustainability and concept of the BAU or defined as business as usual economy. She emphasizes that the BAU economy will yield less of a return in profitability in the coming decades with a possibility towards economic stagnation, and an increase in unemployment rate as a result of industrial decline in profitability. Furthermore, she illustrates how there will be an increase in environmental pollution and damages to the world, and scarcities in resources due to abnormal climate change in relation to the profitability of natural resource industries such as agriculture and so forth. Throughout chapter 2 and 3, Schor condemns the notion of BAU growth and a higher GDP. There are many solutions so I researched them to find out what the society can do about illegal immigrants. Throughout my research my main question I wanted to eventually answer was how can we solve a real world problem like immigration? Why aren t there laws that could prevent the problem of immigration? After all my research it won t be an easy problem to solve but it is worth solving. People need to know how to stop illegal immigrants from entering this country. There are many problems in the world including immigration, too many immigrants are entering the united states illegally and it is causing the population to overflow. Even though this problem is illegal immigrants so if should only affect illegal immigrants, it unfortunately affects all the immigrants. One thing that will not change is brake system care, although the regenerative braking system on EVs usually means your brake pads will typically last twice as long than with a conventional gas powered model. The Bad 1. Your upfront cost. Electric vehicleprices have come down, but they are still higher than comparable gas powered models. A Nissan Leaf will cost you at least $30,000 new, while a well equipped Nissan Sentra costs about $20,000. Fortunately, taxpayers may find themselves eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit as well as state level credits, rebates and incentives. Ideally, you will want to recoup the cost of your investment, something government backed incentives make possible. In a best case scenario, the bad can actually be categorized as good. 2. Restricted range. Run low on gas and you can fuel your conventional vehicle within minutes. With an electric vehicle, you can only travel so many miles before you must connect to a power source. The Great War was nearly impossible to understand while it was taking place, and although nearly one hundred years have passed, little concrete clarity has been achieved regarding the overall truths and experiences of this war. However, before Isma il could be regarded the successor to the Aq Qoyunlu in Azarbayjan he would have to defeat the ozbegs and the Ottomans to produce a contiguous Persian State. This would take decades to accomplish. Overall, The Safawid state established by Shah Isma il relied on three elements to maintain power. The first was the loyalty of the Qizilbash tribesmen providing a military capacity to the shah in his capacity as head of the Safawid order. The second was the local bureaucracy, recruited especially from members of the urban population of the cities of central Persia. This was an essential part of the machinery of maintaining governing power once the military conquest was over. The third and perhaps the most important element was the State s new official faith, the Twelvervariety of Shi ism, whose adherents accept a line of twelve infallible imams, beginning with Ali and ending with Muhammad al Mahdi. It is likely that a large majority of the Persian people at the time that Shah Isma il began to establish his influence adhered to the Sunni branch of Islam. The initial years of the Safawid dynasty brought on conversion to Shi ism as compulsory for the entire population. • 26. Red Giants Research Paper Nolan Harris Red Giants Red giants are dying stars that are in their last part of stellar evolution. Every star will eventually turn into a red giant over some point in time. Stars turn into red giants when there is no more hydrogen fuel for the star. Inside of a star, hydrogen goes through a process called nuclear fusion where hydrogen is getting converted into helium. Nuclear fusion helps create energy for the star so that the force of gravity isn t crushing the star together. This is also the reason why stars are bright. When the star runs out of hydrogen to convert into helium, the energy that kept the star from collapsing is now gone. Gravity then takes over and compresses the star. From this point, the helium atoms are able to combine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Red supergiants are known as the biggest stars by radius. The biggest red supergiant is mentioned as VY Canis Majoris. This star is about 1800 times bigger than our sun. Although there are plenty of red giants in space, none of them are that close to us. The closest red giant is Gamma Crucis (88 light years away).3 We do not have to worry about the world ending due to the sun becoming a red giant anytime in our lifetime, but plenty of them are out there. Many teachers entering the field of education have a crystal clear view of what they want to accomplish. However, as time progresses teachers lose sight of what they wanted to do (Canter, 1993). They become bogged down by the demands of the job and life and have a hard time seeing the beauty in what they do. Canter offers a remedy for teachers all teachers, especially those who ve lost touch with why they chose this profession. The remedy is creating a mission statement that encompasses your teaching goals and posting it in the classroom as a constant reminder (Canter, 1993). The importance of having a strong mission statement should be expressed to all teachers. In order to be an effective teacher, one must have a mission statement that not only addresses their professional goals as a teacher but also their goals for reaching the children they impact daily. Being a teacher is one of the most difficult professions in the world. We are responsible for the educationof all the future citizens. As teachers, content will always be a major component of what we do but it should not be what drives us. A Study on Operant and Classical Conditioning Operant and Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning best explains reflective responding that is largely controlled by stimuli preceding the response, while operant conditioning is the kind of learning influenced by stimulus events that follow the responses. (Weiten). In operant conditioning, reinforcement is defined as after the fact. Reinforcement follows a response and increases tendency to make the response. In classical conditioning, the reinforcement comes before the response is made and increases tendency to make the response. A middle school teacher intercepted a note that contained personal information, read it out loud, and the student the note was intended for leaves the class and school, feels sick at going to school the next day, and becomes ill at the thought of the teacher. This is a classical conditioning case. (Daniels, 2009). If the student s behavior had happened before the teacher intercepted the note and read it out loud, it would have been a case of operant conditioning. In classical conditioning, the student s reaction to the teacher, classroom, and the school is a conditioned response and creates a physiological reaction. In operant conditioning, the teacher s reaction to the student s behavior, if reversed, would have been conditioned and creates a physiological reaction. Operant responding is controlled by consequences as response outcomes (R O) are learned. In operant conditioning the student s response can be considered a consequence ... Most patients often are healthy at early stages in their life and become symptomatic later on in their life time. Fetal haemoglobin levels decrease and haemoglobin s levels increase. Sickle cell disease is determined at conception, when a person acquires his/her genes from the parents. Sickle cell disease cannot be caught, acquired, or otherwise transmitted. The second subunit is beta this has an amino acid at position 6 instead of the glutamic acid being present. If the beta globin gene is sickle and the other gene is normal this individual is a carrier of sickle cell disease, this condition is known as sickle cell trait, it s a rare condition. If both the beta globin genes are sickle then the individual has sickle cell disease, those with sickle cell trait cannot develop sickle cell disease. This shift is the basis of all the problems that occur in people with sickle cell disease. Some types of haemoglobin molecules such as fetal haemoglobin which is found before birth block the interactions between haemoglobin s and deoxygenated molecules. This haemoglobin disappears within the first year after birth. One approach to treating sickle cell disease is to rekindle production of fetal haemoglobin. The Disproportionate Incarceration of African American Males The United States currently has the highest incarcerated population in the world with 2.2 million adults incarcerated in 2014 (Kaeble, Glaze, Tsoutis, Minton, 2016). African American males represent a disproportionate amount of the incarcerated population, which is defined by those confined in either prison or jail (Crutchfield Weeks, 2015). Although, African Americans account for roughly 13% of the United States population, they comprised 37% of the male prison population (Carson, 2015; U.S. Census Bureau, 2016) and 35.4% of the male jail population within the United States in 2014 (Minton Zeng, 2015). The imprisonment of over 750,000 African American males constitutes a social issue because it targets a historically oppressed minority causing rippling social and economic effects throughout the country. Vulnerability to Incarceration Within African American communities, individuals with low incomes or low education levels are at increased risk of incarceration due to less options for legal employment and little resources to successfully navigate the legal system (Crutchfield and Weeks, 2015; Mtichell Caudy, 2015; Pettit Western, 2004).
