Invasive Species
In 1996, the Asian Longhorn Beetle made its way into the New York and New Jersey creating the
decimation of the forests. The Asian Longhorn Beetle has so far caused the cutting of over 10,000
trees in New Jersey, and quarantine of 109 miles in New York today . The spread of this foreign beetle
has created great impacts on the environment. The Asian Longhorn Beetle is an invasive specie, a
harmful specie from another locations, mainly other countries, that has ended up in a foreign habitat.
As time has progressed, invasive species have continued to come into our environment more
frequently creating many unforeseen consequences. The relationship of invasive species within the
United States environment and ecosystem has been changing ever ... Show more content on

Before the crisis of invasive species destroying the environment, it was normal for people to dump
invasive species into lakes, streams, and rivers, but in today s society, releasing and bringing invasive
species into the environment has come to a near existent halt.
When the Welland Canal was built in 1829, it created more connecting routes between the Great
Lakes. In addition, it allowed larger boats to make their way upstream into the lakes when previously,
only smaller, local boats were able to travel in the small rivers and streams. Allowing the larger boat
meant that it would speed up the process of invasive species being brought into the great lakes. On top
of that, this was greatly increased by the lack of cleaning of the canals which allowed many boats to
get from one lake to the next without being hosed down allowing species to survive and flourish. One
of these many species was well known aquatic weed called Curly Pondweed. It was brought into the
Great Lakes in 1879 and quickly spread, growing until it was so overabundant that the sunlight was
blocked from entering the water. The lack of sunlight caused many fish and other aquatic organisms to
die due to the lack of oxygen. This lack of oxygen created a vacuum that destroyed the majority of the
organisms in the lake only allowing the few that were able to survive with very little oxygen. The
Curly Pondweed was one of the organisms that destroyed the Great

Analysis Of Hassan Nasrallah s Speech
A discourse analysis of one of Hassan Nasrallah s speeches
Introduction
Hizbullah, a main political party in Lebanon, is affecting the social world by promoting their
ideological and political position. Although all the countries surrounding Lebanon are facing conflicts
and war, we are still taking neutrality as a Lebanese government. However, Hizbullah are deeply
involved in the conflict happing in Syria, leading a huge military action outside the Lebanese borders.
Hizbullah s General Secretary Hassan Nasrallah has always been a highly appreciated leader with
substantial followers. His decision to support the Syrian regime affected the internal politics of
Lebanon. However, NAsrallah s political performances and his skillful use of political ... Show more

In paragraph three, we can see that Nasrallah began congratulating the people for the day of Liberation
and praising his fighters for the great victorious achievement. He manages to combine his charismatic
leadership and the general ideological principles to show that he is obeyed from all the people.
However, he used deligitimization to present every opponent as a supporter for terrorists and
highlights the cruel acts they have done. Nasrallah (2015) states we are not talking about intentions.
ISIL sheds blood, demolishes, kills, rapes, rake woman as prisoners, slaughters... This strong
description of actions done by the enemy construct the difference between them in a way of blaming
and accusing them of terrorism. However, he never mentioned if what Hizbullah s fighters are doing
in the Syrian war. He tried to take his audience away from providing them information of how fighters
of Hizbullah are also killing innocent people in this war. Therefore, he depended on the dissimulation
strategy to prevent people from receiving the whole information and made a control on the facts

Theories Of Personality Paper
Theories of personality, among many other theories in the field of psychology, must use some sort of
scientific basis in order for the theory or research to be looked upon by others as credible. Psychology
is the scientific study of the mind and behavior, therefore it should be crucial for theories of
personality to be evaluated according to scientific criteria. Forming a hypothesis, testing it out,
observing, racking up data it should all be used during research. There needs to always be a theory in
conjunction with research (Cloninger, S. 2013). Scientific criteria gives psychologists or reseachers a
firm base to follow, which makes it easier to validate theories. Evaluating a theory based on
personality without using scientific criteria

Beyond Katrina Poem Analysis
It is pretty poignant, yet honest to say that the hurricane Katrina has long derived an almost
obsessional attention from Natasha writer. In Beyond Katrina: A meditation of the Mississippi Gulf
Coast , Tretheway has purposely pictured the devastation scenario from witnesses narratives; hence
her story could speak for many stories of people who are less visible, whom we cannot see struggling
against the aftermath the stories we may not know about how tenacious the return of Gulf Coast
communities was from those tremendous sufferings they miserably faced up to. From a personal, yet
natural perspective, Tretheway chose to form the portrait of the Gulfport district over the years by
mixing poets, prose, handwritten letters and a few childhood photographs. Without a doubt, poems,
coupe with prose, have successfully flesh out this tragic anecdote, though requiring individual
interpretations and a deep understanding of the author s perception. In this sense, my own analysis
allows me to pick three poems, which altogether hold an ultimately general theme: the powerful return
of Gulf Coast society through memorization, reflection and above all, recovery. It is pretty strange
when Tretheway has not been ridden out the storm at that time, yet her ability to extend that empathy
to the local residents is undeniable. Thetheway refacts all the deaths and bodies washed away (65)
through the lens of witnesses her family and the whole community with emotional depth and

Representation Of Women In The Media Analysis
We live in an ageist society, which favours youth. Because of this, celebrities age is inherent in the
discourses (Van den Bulck, 2014, p. 63) about their persona and appearance. This is especially true of
female celebrities who come under constant scrutiny because our patriarchal society means that there
are different standards for men s and women s aging (Oberg, 2003, p. 126). MailOnline provides
perfect examples of older women s representations in the media demonstrating the public obsession
with youthfulness and that older female celebrities are rarely represented, but when they are, they are
usually shown as desexualised and unattractive. There are some exceptions, for example the
newspaper s focus on Helen Mirren; however, sexy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
162). MailOnline probably only depicts Mirren as attractive as she is a blonde beauty with a nicely
toned body (Chester Smith, 2015). Sontag states, what makes these women seem beautiful to us is
precisely that they do not look their real age (1972, p. 36). In this way, these apparently positive
representations of older women are still just as bad for shaming women s aged bodies as they starkly
remind the audience that the sustainability of sexual attractiveness is one of the most highly valued
personal commodities in the media market (Garde Hansen, 2012, pp. 161 162). Overall, aging women
tend to be inadequately represented in the media for the reason that these women bear the brunt of
ageism because they are already devalued as female (Cruikshank, 2009, p. 143). Additionally, because
the patriarchy s ideal state for women is docility (Sontag, 1972, p. 38), beauty standards and practices
will continue to be enforced helping to shame any appearance that differs from what society deems
beautiful. Traditionally, this idea of beauty almost always excludes the body fat, wrinkles, and grey
hair typically found on older

Setting
A. Write a brief description of the setting(s) of the book.
This book is set in the early 1960 s up until the early 2000 s, in Afghanistan. One of the leading
characters of the story, Mariam lives in a small city called Herat, where she lives with her mother,
Nana, in a kolba, which is a small shack. While
Mariam and her mother are living in a small rundown hut, her father, Jalil, lives in a mansion with his
other children and wives.
After the death of Nana, Mariam moves in with her father, Jalil and the rest of his family, until she is
forced into marriage. Right after Mariam gets married, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If so, how?
Yes, time and place do contribute to the conflict of the story. In this story, time and place tend to be the
conflict. Currently in Afghanistan, and even back to when this book is set, it has been extremely
challenging to be a woman. Most women are illiterate because they have no form of education, and
are forced into marriage at young ages with men who are decades older than they are. Many women
are abused and isolated. Sometimes when their husbands have male friends over they are asked to
leave, and are left alone until the guests have departed. In A Thousand Splendid Suns , Mariam deals
with abuse during her marriage to
Rasheed, this continues the topic and conflict of women being oppressed. In a part of the book
Mariam prepares a meal for Rasheed, and every time she does this she tries her best to please him.
This time, Rasheed spits the rice she made on the floor, grabs rocks and tells her to chew them,
injuring her.
Character(s)
Mariam is a young girl who was born out of wedlock. Her mother Nana was a maid for her father
Jalil, a wealthy and successful businessman. Her parents do not live together, and throughout the
beginning of the story, Mariam continuously pesters her mother about seeing Jalil. Every time Mariam
asks to see her father, Nana declines and says she is a harami and not one of them , meaning she s a
bastard child , and while Jalil is living in his mansion along with his wives and children, Nana and
Mariam are living

It s An App For That Can Make Shopping More Convenient Or...
There s an app for that . I find myself pointing out this somewhat obvious fact on a regular basis.
What is there not an app for? Honestly, every aspect of a person s average day can be assisted in some
way by an app. App for the alarm in the morning, for your Starbucks coffee, an app for the morning
news, apps to track your weight and calorie intake, a pedometer app to count your steps, GPS to get
you to an appointment, banking apps, calendar, grocery list, coupons, Safeway even has an app. Apps
that make shopping more convenient or ordering food. There are fertility tracking apps, memory
training apps, apps for school and reading, apps to look for a job, home, or new car. Literally you
name it, there s an app for it. Not to mention the countless games and apps geared towards children.
According to Statista.com as of July 2015 Android users were able to choose between 1.6 million
apps. Apple s App Store remained the second largest app store with 1.5 million available apps. In
addition there are 400,000 Amazon apps, 340,000 apps available through the Windows phone store
and 130,000 available on Blackberry world.(Statista.com) Totaling over 3.9 million apps available at
the touch of a finger tip.
To many this may seem like life just getting more and more convenient. However, has it been
considered how much these apps enable and inevitably handicap our ability to function without them?
Essentially with all of the apps being made available today not only are we chained to

My First Aid Kits
I rounded corners against the wet wind, squinting my eyes to avoid looking at our unnatural world.
My fists pounded against multiple shop doors, the lighting out in all of them. A pharmacy was found
after racing down three streets, the lights flickered and doors were shut. I kicked through the doors,
my foot jammed between the electronic passages until it finally gave. Don t leave it open! You re
insane, shut the door! The worker was on the floor behind the register and crawled out to scream at
me. I have an emergency, where are your first aid kits? We all have an emergency. We need the
supplies, too. Leave. He spat. You have ample and I have children who need them, where are they?

The door was still open, and I ran to barricade it with a nearby movable shelf. The kits are in the back
corner, the medical center. The man was on his side, watching me with wide eyes. Thank you. I
grinned. Scouring the aisles, I picked up a medium fabric bag before heading to the medical station
and filling it with half of the store s content. Theft wasn t on my conscious given that a part of our city
was in danger. Laws wouldn t exist if our world didn t. Gauze, ointment, pain killers, bandages, and
other supplies filled half the bag. After that, I went to the food and water isles, where I grabbed
multiple nonperishable food items. I stuffed my bag until it overflowed. My hand shoved my knife
into the belt on my waist and two six packs of water made their way into my hands. In the dark, I saw
a worker sticking a flashlight into my belt. A tall blonde girl gestured to where I fought the animal,
and back to me. She knew about them. She made her way to the entrance and removed the door
blockade. She nodded for me to go. Thank you. I spoke. Take care of things. She told me. I returned
down three more streets, looking for the building location that I had already forgotten the place. I saw
Alex in the street before I heard him. He dashed into the building after seeing me. I placed the drinks

Computer Field And Technical Education Programs
The lack of qualified employees in computer and technology fields is a perplexing issue for the United
States as it strives to stay competitive in a global economy. According to an article by the Bureau of
National Affairs, two of the top three toughest jobs to fill are technology related (Bureau of National
Affairs, 2012, p. 6). Although there are many theories as to why more students are not choosing to
major in some type of computer field, resolutions to this problem are slow in developing. Could a
solution be emerging from career and technical education programs? In 2012 Microsoft Corporation
sponsored a study that estimated the U.S. creates 120,000 new computer science jobs each year.
Colleges and universities, however, are only graduating 49,000 students per year with degrees to fill
those positions. This gap has companies scrambling to find qualified personnel and many are turning
to foreign workers using the H1 B Visa program (Beach, 2013, p. 3). With 7.9 million Americans
unemployed, this is not a popular choice and creates a potential image problem for companies (United
States Department of Labor, 2015). Once considered a dumping ground for students who could not
handle a typical high school curriculum, career and technical education has progressed over the last 30
years. Now, students from a variety of academic levels enroll in CTE programs (Hoachlander, 2008, p.
25). Additionally, pathways once considered specific to a certain gender are being

Characteristics of the Paleolithic Age Some characteristics of the Paleolithic Age include hunting and
gathering methods and living in small groups. Also using stone tools and living a nomadic lifestyle.
There were four different type of stone tools used including pebbles, hand axes, flakes and pebbles.
They would not plant any vegetables or grains but hunted for berries and roots in the wild. They
would also fish in streams like we still do today.
Characteristics of the Neolithic Revolution Some characteristics of the Neolithic revolution are that
they were food producers, they relied on agriculture, and made use of animal husbandry. This meant
that these people raised their own crops and herds. They planted seed into the ground

A Rationale of the Outline Scheme of Work for Key Stage 3
A rationale of the outline scheme of work for Key Stage 3
Planning is a key part of teaching. Without a coherent plan lessons may lack structure and direction.
Long and medium term planning are an important part of this and in this rationale I hope to
demonstrate that my planning does indeed have all of these qualities.
The first element to be considered when rationalising this scheme of work is whether or not it meets
the needs of Key Stage 3 pupils. I believe that it does because the attainment focus is all within Key
Stage 3. However, this is only the very simplest level by which we can measure this criterion. Firstly,
we can also measure it by matching the scheme of work to the programme of study. If we look at this
we can see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So for example, in the topic about the good life pupils will study Buddhist monks and nuns. In this
way I think the scheme of work as greater coherence and pupils will be able to see clear reasons for
study topics.
At this point I think it would be a good idea to return to some of the philosophy behind the scheme of
work. Mainly it is thematic in approach. This is where religions are sub divided into categories and
taught like this. For example, festivals, or Holy Books may be used as themes to teach across the
religions. One strength of the thematic approach is that it points to similarities between religions and I
think that this is where most value in RE comes from. However, these similarities are often far too
superficial and can even be slightly arbitrary . For example, some schools may teach spring festivals
when the similarities between these festivals are not the time of year at which they are held but
something far more consequential. If this approach could move past this problem it would be far more
useful. Of course, we must remember that, once again this is only how the approach is used rather than
the approach itself that causes the problem. I have tried to avoid this problem in my scheme of work
by choosing topics that point to deeper similarities such as the idea of duty or the good life. Another
problem that I have tried to avoid is confusing pupils with lots of

Mrs Grier Character Analysis
Perception does not change either. Octavia perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector. This is evident first,
explicitly: Mrs. Grier is one classy lady. She is tall and big, not fat, but big like she deserves the
biggest room or the best plate of food.... But more than just being classy, Mrs. Grier is right.... But I
say she is right because she can know the truth from a lie just as soon as she hear it (164). Octavia
perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector because of her classiness, which indicates integrity, her stature, and
her discernibility of fact from fiction. In a community rife with pandemonium, missing children, and
dead children, the ability to discern what is true and what is false is vital. Octavia is cognizant of this,
which explains why she frequents Mrs. Grier s classroom, even though she is a former student. This
action, implicitly shows why she perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector. First, Octavia visits her after her
friend, Rodney, goes missing. Then, Octavia consults with her after learning that her mother wants her
to leave Atlanta. When Octavia feels the most helpless, she runs to Mrs. Grier the woman who can
help her the most. Perhaps, the role and perception of black female leaders do not change from the
private to the public sphere because of fictive kinship. Unlike black male leadership, which depends
on blood ties, black female leadership depends on the function more than the fact. Moreover, Mrs.
Grier s behavior, which is consistent with that of a matriarch, is just as impactful and rewarding to
Octavia, even though she is not the female leader of her household. In fact, black women are
commonly absorbed into other households: There was a black lady on Channel Two whom Mama
liked to call by her first name and critique on her appearance like she was somebody they actually
knew (24). Accordingly, the conflation of black women and motherhood, within the black community,
creates an inelasticity among the roles and perceptions they hold in any sphere, domestic or public.
Why do Jones and Bambara establish these gendered dynamics? Truthfully, it is more accurate to view
these gendered dynamics as reproductions. Jones and Bambara merely reproduce the gendered
dynamics that were present in Atlanta from

The Impact Of Military Engagements On The Peace, Economy...
The purpose of this paper is to persuade and demonstrate that ongoing Military engagements are direct
contributors to the peace, economy and political stability throughout Southeast Asia.
The History and Economic Relationships After the Spanish American war a series of opportunities
brought a lot of regional players and foreign powers to the Philippines, the United States took the
position that Spain once had. The Unites States saw the Philippines islands as a strategic place that
would open commerce and trade to the far east Asia from the beginning and their stance did not
change after their surrender. After World War II (WWII) most countries in Southeast Asia became
independent. Most countries in the region share a business and trade relationship which is in favor of
their individual and collective growth, while some others share problems with migration, limited
resources and political vitality. For some time, the United States have been a key influencer of
stability providing military presence and advising countries throughout southeast Asia to maintain
territorial and economic integrity. After the independence of a few countries in Indochina, countries
with India and China influences located in the same continental area, the Vietnam War began with the
communist North Vietnam attempt to conquer the south. By the end of the war in 1975 neighbor
countries of Laos and Cambodia were also governed by communists. During this era the Southeast
was struggling for trade

The Research Of Second Language Acquisition ( Sla )
INTRODUCTION
The research of second language acquisition (SLA) and its theories surged in the twentieth century. At
a first glance, the definition of SLA may seem clear, however when analysed further it becomes clear
that the subject is a bit more complex. Nevertheless, a good definition of it could be as follows: a
study of ... the way in which people learn a language other than their mother tongue, inside or outside
a classroom. (Ellis, 1997:3) From the 1940s to the 1960s, a psycholinguistic theory known as
behaviourism (stimulus response), was developed, becoming recognised as a legitimate theory behind
SLA. This was a positivist approach towards language learning which involved the interference and
transfer between a speaker s first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By providing a theoretical framework, then going on to discuss the arguments for and against the CA
hypothesis, a conclusion on its reliability will be drawn.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
In order to fully understand the reasons for which the CA hypothesis has fallen into decline, with
questions of its reliability in being sufficient in the explanation of errors made by L2 learners, it is
necessary to examine other theories behind SLA. Firstly, as aforementioned, behaviourism (and
therewith CA) was one school of thought, popularised by B.F Skinner and John Watson. CA is
explained in Robert Lado s Linguistics Across Cultures (1957, p. 2) in which he asserts that those
elements that are similar to the [learner s] native language will be simple for him, and those areas that
are different will be difficult. By this, Lado meant that errors made in the L2 (by learners) are due to
habits which differed from the structures in their L1 and these errors would thus reflect the L1 s
structure.
However, there is another notable hypothesis which aims to explain the errors made by learners of a
second language, that being Larry Selinker s interlanguage hypothesis. According to Rod Ellis
(1997:33), this was coined in recognition of the fact that, although L2 construct a linguistic system
that does adopt part of the L1 structure, but is also differs from it and also from the target language.
This means that the

America. But many people are unaware that rock and roll and many other popular genres of music
such as soul, funk, punk, disco, rap and hip hop are all an extension of African culture. The
modification of Christian music that is present in African American churches is a result of the African

Charles Dickens Ambition
The circumstances someone is exposed to can construct their ambitions and motives. The protagonist
in the novel, Pip, begins the novel as a young, common boy who desires to pursue his vague goal of
becoming a gentleman because he is unhappy with his current status. Throughout his transformation,
he meets a young and heartless girl named Estella in which everything he did in his life was no longer
for himself but for Estella. Once he attains his goal, he comes to the realization that his ambition did
not bring him any happiness. In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Dickens portrays how
different social groups are delineated in the Victorian Era, 19th century England. In the novel, Dickens
closely follows the inner growth of a protagonist from his childhood as an indigent to middle age as he
commutes with the wealthy. Dickens effectively elucidates how social class has a direct connection to
moral behavior, how one develops shame of his own roots, and the affection of wealth. Being raised in

Conquest Of Aztecs Essay
Within the religious aspect of the Western Civilization, there were specific omens reported after the
Conquest of Aztec. Most of the omes were disasters and people didn t know whether to believe them
or not, according to the document Omens of Doom. An example of a religious omen recorded was
Omen 1. In this omen it was said that: According to legend, the Aztecs believed that the god
Quetzalcoatl had sailed east to join the sun god, warning that he would later return to reclaim his
kingdom. The Aztecs believed that this could occur in the year One Reed (1519) and that god could
take on many different forms. Including a pale skinned, bearded man. When Moctezuma first met
Cortez, Cortez went to show his grattitude when all of a sudden Moctezuma s two guards stopped him.

Colralization, Social, And Industrialization In The 1920 s
Industrialization was a massive beginning to many different types of changes. During the 1870s up
through the 1920s, America experienced changes politically, socially, and economically.
Correspondingly, founding ideals changed as well during 1870 to 1920. America also experienced
many challenges throughout the years due to the rapid changing in America.
Industrialization, the Gilded Age, and immigration all led to changes in America politically, socially,
and economically. By the 1870s industrialization changed the course of America through the
advancement of technology. In 1879, Thomas Edison created the first electric light bulb, this was the
beginning of major innovation and industrialization in America. The introduction to electricity
allowed for massive improvements in the United States, electric appliances at home was created, such
as the electric refrigerator, people could work and read at home during the night, factories and
businesses stayed open longer as well. Industrialization economically changed the United States
through the rapid creation of products when factories and industrial machines were developed and
through other innovative ideas like the Bessemer process of steelmaking. Industrialization also created
business leaders and of those, most were either a captain of industry or a robber baron. The robber
baron developed as a greedy, unfair business leader that stole from society. While the captain of
industry was a business leader that contributed

Executive Order On Immigration
The U.S. has always being considered the land of opportunities. Back in my home country
opportunities were very scarce, which led to my family immigrating to the U.S. for a better future.
Having had firsthand experience in the immigration transition system, it has been captivating to hear
in the news about the Executive Order Obama issued on November 20, 2014. Seeing families getting
separated, violence raising in the Mexican border, and the increasing Latin population in the U.S.

Reflection Of The Observation Of Students In The...
The opportunity to observe students in the elementary school I once attended was very eye opening.
The elementary school teaches children who attend this school are kindergarten to fifth grade. The
classroom I am observed are students between nine and ten years old and are currently in the fourth
grade. When I arrived on campus there were many things that have changed and the relationship
between teachers and students is a lot closer now than from what I can remember from the late 1990s
and early 2000 years. The school now displays murals and colorful art projects designed by students
and displayed throughout the hallways.
When I arrived on campus, I was greeted by a group of volunteer parents and one security guard. They
were very friendly and directed me to the main office so I could check in. I then met with the principal
who was already aware of my observation and was delighted to walk me to the classroom of my
observation. The current principle Rita Exposito began in 2010 and has been with the school ever
since. She explained to me some of the changes around the school he believed I was not aware of and

It is vital for law enforcement to determine whether a search warrant, arrest warrant, or both is needed.
When an arrest is to take place within a dwelling where reasonable privacy is expected, law
enforcement must determine whether or not the prospective arrestee lives there. If the person to be
arrested lives there, only an arrest warrant is needed. If the dwelling belongs to a third party, an arrest
warrant and a search warrant is necessary. In order to comply with the Fourth Amendment s protection
of privacy, police must secure the appropriate warrant(s) and knock and announce their presence.
There are three exceptions as to when officers do not need search or arrest warrants and/or announce
their presence:
a) Consent: When asking permission to enter, consent may be voluntarily given to law enforcement, as
long as the person has authority to do so, e.g. the homeowner. Non residential landlords, babysitters,
caretakers, etc. lack authority to provide consent.
b) Exigent (emergency) situations: Exigent circumstances can exist when the officer believes one or
both of the requirements are present:
Endangerment to the lives or safety of the officer, suspect, or third party

The Coptic Orthodox Christian Community
Preface
One has to consult the sayings of the Fathers of the Church, as well as other ancient writers. This helps
us understand the historical changes which have occurred over the years. Reading the Fathers can give
meaning to many of the rubrics, many of which are not carried out properly because of lack of
understanding of their meaning .
The Coptic Orthodox Christian community is the largest and oldest Christian minority in the Middle
East today. While there is no accurate consensus of their size in Egypt, numerous accounts place them
between 8 to 12 percentages of Egypt s current population.2 And may be more.

Chemical Surveillance Program For Leukemia
Benzene Exposure Leukemia in Factory Workers Examined
Background
As part of an occupational surveillance program for leukemia from excessive benzene exposure 1,832
factory workers were screened using a new diagnostic test. It was determined of those exposed, 214
tested positive, 29 tested negative and 90 non exposure tested positive. With the use of a contingency
table we will evaluate the measures of validity of the screening test used.
In the study of the association between benzene exposure and leukemia causality has been established
using the Bradford Hill criteria for two specific agents: Ionizing radiation and benzene. Evidence has
been established that high daily exposure to benzene in both a time dose relationship and with dose
and response with specific types of such as AML leukemia (Pagano et al., 2006). However, it has been
noted by Pagano et al., that results on the environmental factors contain inconsistent results due to the
design of the study, uncontrolled bias, and the variance in the populations at risk (2006).
Environmental factors such as socioeconomic status, alcohol consumption, and smoking are known
contributors to the development of leukemia (Pagano et al., 2006). It s been observed that
occupational exposure to industrial hazards is significantly more frequent overall in populations from
lower socioeconomic backgrounds (Nisse et al., 2001). A complete background of study participants

Comparing Classical Yoga, Advaita Vedanta, And Tantra Yoga
The story, myth, and background of Kali can be interpreted in many different ways. There are three
strands of yoga that have developed over the past centuries. The tree strands are Classical Yoga,
Advaita Vedanta, and Tantra Yoga. Classical Yoga is a dualistic model in which purusha and prakriti
are completely separate. Everything has an equal and opposite counter part in this strand of yoga.
Advaita Vedanta Yoga was a response to dualistic, Classical Yoga. This strand of yoga is monistic and
is a view that affirms the unity of all things. Everything is one. The divine consciousness is
everywhere and in everything we see. Tantra Yoga is non dualistic while also realizing and accepting
that there is diversity in the world. Each of these strands of yoga looks at Kali s story differently and
its significance is different in each view.
In Classical Yoga, the view is that one must overcome prakriti. In doing so, the individual is able to
free the mind from their body to experience purusha. Kali is the creator of prakriti. She is the force
that drives the world and it s lila. It is often thought that when a bad storm or tornado hits, it is her
doing. A yogi of this view would meditate to Kali as the goddess of destruction, not the mother. They
would face that she is the unity of all things, being the creator and destroyer of everything we embrace
in this material world as seen with her dance in the myth. This yogi would learn to face the reality of
life and death. If one simply

Preventing Extinction and World Change
Thirteen years ago, wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park. Of two potential
locations considered (Snowflake Springs and Butte Rock) they were placed in the low risk prey Butte
Rock for the purpose of encouraging the wolves to spread out and create packs. Before and during the
reintroduction project, Oregon State University researchers measured the rate of willow growth along
2.6 miles of the Gallatin River, which ran through Butte Rock and Snowflake Springs. During their
study from 1998 to 2002, the researchers discovered that Snowflake Springs, where the elk were and
no wolves lived, the willow growth dropped from 92% to nothing ( How Wolves Help Willows, 4).

Many scientists now agree that this is the case.
Wolves have been shown time and time again to possess a kind of language made up of growls, yips,
howls, and body language. Humans see them as lesser creatures because we do not understand their
dialect, made up more by body language than by the sounds that they make (though sounds do play a
big part). Could there be even more to these non human animals than we already know? Do wolves
have a religion? Do caribou think human hunters are some kind of angel of death? More research must
be done into the secret lives of animals before these questions can be answered but first we must find a
way to counteract that most pressing environmental issue of the day: extinction. Lest those creatures
we re only beginning to understand vanish, along with whatever language and culture they may
possess beyond our understanding.
The language and culture of animals is not the only thing threatened by extinction. While our own
human race is obviously in no danger of dying out, important aspects of our culture and even our
languages are dying out. Can a language actually become extinct? The moment that no one can speak
the language, and all that is left of it is text (if that), a language is considered to be extinct. There is a

There are many factors that contribute to the transformation of a spirit: whether or not one did good
deeds, the amount of spiritual practice, destiny, death cause, funeral, spiritual rituals, self esteem, have
desires that weren t fulfilled, negative thoughts, anger, harmed people during lifetime, or doesn t have
spiritual thoughts or practices (What Are Ghosts). Occasionally, the ghost will attach to a person,

Some ghosts are rather weak and highly dependent on the place or person they are attached to. They

Summary Of All Over Let s Eat By Dave Barry
Politics is a dangerous topic: minefields to the left and right, shrapnel everywhere, and often the best
opinion is no opinion. Dave Barry in Now That s It s All Over, Let s Eat! approaches the modern
American political apathy with a cynical eye. In 2012, before the second election of Barak Obama,
Americans were feeling a lack of faith in the political system. The Democrats were demonizing Mitt
Romney and the Republicans were bad mouthing Obama. Barry says that the American response to all
this drama should be to go watch football.
In the article, Barry has three observations about current political life: that both parties are filled with
less than bright politicians (who bill themselves as geniuses or at least as well informed), street
protests such as the march on Wall Street are honestly not very effective, and that there is no fun in
politics anymore and no one has a sense of humor.

the inefficacy of shouting in large groups. Occupy Wall Street was a prime example of this mentality. I
do sympathize with many of their aims, because I am definitely one of the 99%. However, when they
did a months long protest in Philadelphia at City Hall, I went home the long way around because the
protesters came across as dangerous and possibly unstable. As the late Terry Pratchett said, The

The Role of Binary Linguistic Oppositions in the Context of War
Most novels on war usually perceive only one side in the realm. An author like Timothy Findley can
make a novel less about war but more about the physiological impact on ones mind because of war.
The Wars is a very powerful and disturbing book with plenty of linguistic contexts. Timothy Findley s
Governor General s Award winning novel of the First World War tells the story of Robert Ross, a
young Canadian who enlists himself in the army after the death of his sister, Rowena. Robert has to

It grants the reader with the ability to choose which characters should be crowned as mentally strong
or weak according to their actions; it runs in a close relation to the distinction of friend and enemy,
which is another psychological battle that many soldiers encounter during the war.
In the novel, The Wars, Findley frames the distinction of friend and enemy in a manner that is
unavoidable. Similar to sanity and insanity, the deconstruction of friend and enemy becomes apparent
after the physical war comes into play. One of the predominant events containing the friend and
enemy opposition is illustrated when Robert encounters the young German soldier. The young
German soldier was wearing [...] a pair of woollen mittens that had no fingers (Findley 128). It
becomes evident to the readers that the description of the German soldier is in close relation to one of
Robert s friends: Harris. In fact, earlier in the novel, the archivist states, [...]the men who took your
fire(and returned it) wore blue scarves or had grey mittens like your own (Findley 82). Findley uses
these events as critical points in order to get the readers to disrupt their thought patterns, and question
their beliefs of friend and enemy. Although the German soldier is armed, he

Computers And Other Types Of Electronics
For ages the question has been debated, to what do humans owe our thinking abilities and can
computers and other types of electronics have the capacity to think? Over millions of years humans
have developed the capacity to think critically and to have higher intelligent thinking than other
animals. The human brain has evolved to have a prefrontal cortex which is responsible for executive
functioning. These functions include responding to complex problems, maintaining a set behavior,
planning, problem solving, judging a situation, and making good, intellectual choices. With
developments such as these higher functions, humans have the ability to fully comprehend situations
with their minds, and can act at their own free will to make choices, unlike computers. Computers
must be acted upon in order to think or to search for an answer. Computers are an invention created by
man. They must be programmed to something, they do not exist or act without the assistance of man.
Since computers are not able to think on their own and must be programmed by man, a computer
should not be considered to know how to think. Thinking is complex in that it requires you to ponder a
choice and for you to comprehend and analyze it to make a final decision. To think is to contemplate
various scenarios and situations and reason. In order to think you must have an initial thought or idea
that was triggered by some type of stimuli. To contemplate such stimuli you would need a mind or

The Soldier Of The Army
The skills required to be an officer in the US army have changed dramatically over the course of the
army s lifetime. The training, or lack of training, shaped the officers into what the army decided it
needed at the time, while also shaping the officer s own combat experiences as they were shipped to
their respective wars. These things created an atmosphere of leadership that were radically different
from each iteration of the US army, producing different kinds of officers for each. The first thing that
set apart each of these officers was the training they had as officers and soldiers before being shipped
off into combat. The stories of each of the officers shows a progression of the idea of the professional
soldier overtaking the idea of the citizen warrior that dominated the culture of the army during the
earlier years of American history. This culture of the citizen warrior is easily seen during the Civil War
and the training Rhodes recieved both as a soldier and an officer. The army seemed wholly
unprofessional at the time as it seemed to rely on the grunts as much as the officers for direction.
During Rhode s first few days in the army he was elected First Sergeant by the company he was
serving with at the time. He was clearly chosen simply because the men around him liked him and
certainly not due to any experience he had in the field. Just what a First Sergeant s duty might be I had
no idea... (All for the Union, 5). Shortly after, he was asked once again for his

Disadvantages Of Integrated Care
Integrated care can mean different things to different people. Integrated care reflects a concern to
improve a patients experience and achieve better efficiency and value from the delivery of care. It
aims to provide a seamless, better coordinated and consistent care (Shaw, 2011: 6). An interlinked
approach has been strongly endorsed in government documents recently as effective methods to link
care is a pressing policy concern. However moves towards integration have been treated with
suspicion and scepticism by many due to the barriers and challenges which are still open for debate
(Birrell, 2006).
The NHS and Community Care Act 1990 had selected social services responsible for community care.
However there remained a struggle over the duties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NHS system in Scotland has had an integrated structure since 2004 yet local authorities continue
to take on the responsibility of social care. A few years later Wales followed Scotland in 2009 with the
formation of unified local health boards (Goodman, 2012). The Government has specified that it is
dedicated to making evidence based integrated care. In 2014 they planned to invest £1 billion through
the Better Care Fund . This intends to link up health and social care services between the NHS and
local authorities (Glasby, 2016). The aim is to allow more people to be cared for in the community and
ultimately save the health care money. Different areas are progressing at different levels with levels of
ambition ranging (Glasby, 2012). The Kings Fund (2011) stated that they believe the NHS
commissioning board and the Department of Health need to dedicate urgent priority to investing in
approaches that measure the experiences of patients, carers and service users in relation to integrated

The Importance Of Climate Change In Northern Canada
As a country, we need to come together in order to make sure that we are able to support our remote
communities during the changes in climate. These changes are more evident the further north you go.
Although we see a lot of roads deteriorating before our eyes we know that eventually they will be
fixed, up north some communities have a very limited accessibility. Thirdly, infrastructure is one thing
that plays a big role in anybody s life. Like many people say, a home is where the heart is. Due to
climate change the ground will begin to shift and change the way people will be able to build new
places within a community. Infrastructure in a northern community is a lot different then we would see
in many other places. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polar bears diets mainly rely on seals so the current changes in ice will affect the life cycle of the seals
as well as it will play a big role in the life cycle of an adult polar bear. A large decrease in adult polar
bears has been noticed and is believed to have been noticed and is believed to have been caused by the
ice changes over the last few years as the decline in the seal population results in the polar bears being
hungry during the winter which means they are not storing enough fat to produce energy to keep them
alive all winter resulting in the polar bears unable to survive the cold winter months without their
natural food source (Prowse et al,

E Commerce Vs. Electronic Commerce
There are plenty of ways to define the definition of E commerce. For example, according to the
Oxford Dictionary, E commerce or electronic commerce is the commercial transaction that conducted
electronically on the Internet. Some people define E commerce as the processes of buying, selling, or
exchanging products, services, and information by using the computer network technology such as the
Internet. E commerce does not only provide the function of buying and selling goods and services
online via digital mediums such as Internet, but the function facilitating the entire purchasing and
selling processes for both sellers and buyers (JENNEX, AMOROSO and ADELAKUN, 2004). The
website INVESTOPEDIA.com stated that E commerce is one type of the ... Show more content on

E commerce has built a nearly perfect market because immediate and people are able to compare the
offerings from numerous sellers worldwide. The growth of E commerce has numerous advantages
over the traditional stores or brick and mortar stores, which include greater flexibility, improved
market outreach, lower cost structures, faster transactions, broader product lines, greater convenience,
and customization (Srinivasan, Anderson and Ponnavolu, 2002). E commerce provides opportunities
to businesses especially in developing countries to access to the global market and reduce the
transaction costs, and also helps developing countries to overcome the world economy problems
(Lawrence and Tar, 2010). Since E commerce enables all businesses from anywhere in the world to
access to the global market, all people have equally chance to compete with the others. Without E
commerce, it is almost impossible for small medium enterprises (SMEs) to compete with the large
organizations due to the amount of the capitals that makes the larger organizations to hold the
advantages over the smaller organizations. E commerce is involved the use of the information
technology (IT) to improve the communications and transactions with all of an organization s
stakeholders. E commerce is also used as a new innovation strategy to raise business competitiveness,

  • 2. Invasive Species In 1996, the Asian Longhorn Beetle made its way into the New York and New Jersey creating the decimation of the forests. The Asian Longhorn Beetle has so far caused the cutting of over 10,000 trees in New Jersey, and quarantine of 109 miles in New York today . The spread of this foreign beetle has created great impacts on the environment. The Asian Longhorn Beetle is an invasive specie, a harmful specie from another locations, mainly other countries, that has ended up in a foreign habitat. As time has progressed, invasive species have continued to come into our environment more frequently creating many unforeseen consequences. Before the crisis of invasive species destroying the environment, it was normal for people to dump invasive species into lakes, streams, and rivers, but in today s society, releasing and bringing invasive species into the environment has come to a near existent halt. When the Welland Canal was built in 1829, it created more connecting routes between the Great Lakes. In addition, it allowed larger boats to make their way upstream into the lakes when previously, only smaller, local boats were able to travel in the small rivers and streams. Allowing the larger boat meant that it would speed up the process of invasive species being brought into the great lakes. On top of that, this was greatly increased by the lack of cleaning of the canals which allowed many boats to get from one lake to the next without being hosed down allowing species to survive and flourish. One of these many species was well known aquatic weed called Curly Pondweed. It was brought into the Great Lakes in 1879 and quickly spread, growing until it was so overabundant that the sunlight was blocked from entering the water. The lack of sunlight caused many fish and other aquatic organisms to die due to the lack of oxygen. This lack of oxygen created a vacuum that destroyed the majority of the organisms in the lake only allowing the few that were able to survive with very little oxygen. The Curly Pondweed was one of the organisms that destroyed the Great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although all the countries surrounding Lebanon are facing conflicts and war, we are still taking neutrality as a Lebanese government. However, Hizbullah are deeply involved in the conflict happing in Syria, leading a huge military action outside the Lebanese borders. Theories Of Personality Paper Theories of personality, among many other theories in the field of psychology, must use some sort of scientific basis in order for the theory or research to be looked upon by others as credible. Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior, therefore it should be crucial for theories of personality to be evaluated according to scientific criteria. Forming a hypothesis, testing it out, observing, racking up data it should all be used during research. There needs to always be a theory in conjunction with research (Cloninger, S. 2013). Scientific criteria gives psychologists or reseachers a firm base to follow, which makes it easier to validate theories. Evaluating a theory based on personality without using scientific criteria ... • 5. Beyond Katrina Poem Analysis It is pretty poignant, yet honest to say that the hurricane Katrina has long derived an almost obsessional attention from Natasha writer. In Beyond Katrina: A meditation of the Mississippi Gulf Coast , Tretheway has purposely pictured the devastation scenario from witnesses narratives; hence her story could speak for many stories of people who are less visible, whom we cannot see struggling against the aftermath the stories we may not know about how tenacious the return of Gulf Coast communities was from those tremendous sufferings they miserably faced up to. From a personal, yet natural perspective, Tretheway chose to form the portrait of the Gulfport district over the years by mixing poets, prose, handwritten letters and a few childhood photographs. Without a doubt, poems, coupe with prose, have successfully flesh out this tragic anecdote, though requiring individual interpretations and a deep understanding of the author s perception. In this sense, my own analysis allows me to pick three poems, which altogether hold an ultimately general theme: the powerful return of Gulf Coast society through memorization, reflection and above all, recovery. It is pretty strange when Tretheway has not been ridden out the storm at that time, yet her ability to extend that empathy to the local residents is undeniable. • 6. Representation Of Women In The Media Analysis We live in an ageist society, which favours youth. Because of this, celebrities age is inherent in the discourses (Van den Bulck, 2014, p. 63) about their persona and appearance. This is especially true of female celebrities who come under constant scrutiny because our patriarchal society means that there are different standards for men s and women s aging (Oberg, 2003, p. 126). MailOnline provides perfect examples of older women s representations in the media demonstrating the public obsession with youthfulness and that older female celebrities are rarely represented, but when they are, they are usually shown as desexualised and unattractive. MailOnline probably only depicts Mirren as attractive as she is a blonde beauty with a nicely toned body (Chester Smith, 2015). Sontag states, what makes these women seem beautiful to us is precisely that they do not look their real age (1972, p. 36). In this way, these apparently positive representations of older women are still just as bad for shaming women s aged bodies as they starkly remind the audience that the sustainability of sexual attractiveness is one of the most highly valued personal commodities in the media market (Garde Hansen, 2012, pp. 161 162). Overall, aging women tend to be inadequately represented in the media for the reason that these women bear the brunt of ageism because they are already devalued as female (Cruikshank, 2009, p. 143). Additionally, because the patriarchy s ideal state for women is docility (Sontag, 1972, p. 38), beauty standards and practices will continue to be enforced helping to shame any appearance that differs from what society deems beautiful. • 12. Computer Field And Technical Education Programs The lack of qualified employees in computer and technology fields is a perplexing issue for the United States as it strives to stay competitive in a global economy. According to an article by the Bureau of National Affairs, two of the top three toughest jobs to fill are technology related (Bureau of National Affairs, 2012, p. 6). Although there are many theories as to why more students are not choosing to major in some type of computer field, resolutions to this problem are slow in developing. Could a solution be emerging from career and technical education programs? In 2012 Microsoft Corporation sponsored a study that estimated the U.S. creates 120,000 new computer science jobs each year. Colleges and universities, however, are only graduating 49,000 students per year with degrees to fill those positions. This gap has companies scrambling to find qualified personnel and many are turning to foreign workers using the H1 B Visa program (Beach, 2013, p. 3). With 7.9 million Americans unemployed, this is not a popular choice and creates a potential image problem for companies (United States Department of Labor, 2015). Once considered a dumping ground for students who could not handle a typical high school curriculum, career and technical education has progressed over the last 30 years. Now, students from a variety of academic levels enroll in CTE programs (Hoachlander, 2008, p. 25). Additionally, pathways once considered specific to a certain gender are being ... • 14. A Rationale of the Outline Scheme of Work for Key Stage 3 A rationale of the outline scheme of work for Key Stage 3 Planning is a key part of teaching. Without a coherent plan lessons may lack structure and direction. Long and medium term planning are an important part of this and in this rationale I hope to demonstrate that my planning does indeed have all of these qualities. The first element to be considered when rationalising this scheme of work is whether or not it meets the needs of Key Stage 3 pupils. I believe that it does because the attainment focus is all within Key Stage 3. However, this is only the very simplest level by which we can measure this criterion. Firstly, we can also measure it by matching the scheme of work to the programme of study. If we look at this we can see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So for example, in the topic about the good life pupils will study Buddhist monks and nuns. In this way I think the scheme of work as greater coherence and pupils will be able to see clear reasons for study topics. At this point I think it would be a good idea to return to some of the philosophy behind the scheme of work. Mainly it is thematic in approach. This is where religions are sub divided into categories and taught like this. For example, festivals, or Holy Books may be used as themes to teach across the religions. One strength of the thematic approach is that it points to similarities between religions and I think that this is where most value in RE comes from. However, these similarities are often far too superficial and can even be slightly arbitrary . For example, some schools may teach spring festivals when the similarities between these festivals are not the time of year at which they are held but something far more consequential. If this approach could move past this problem it would be far more useful. Of course, we must remember that, once again this is only how the approach is used rather than the approach itself that causes the problem. I have tried to avoid this problem in my scheme of work by choosing topics that point to deeper similarities such as the idea of duty or the good life. Another problem that I have tried to avoid is confusing pupils with lots of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Mrs Grier Character Analysis Perception does not change either. Octavia perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector. This is evident first, explicitly: Mrs. Grier is one classy lady. She is tall and big, not fat, but big like she deserves the biggest room or the best plate of food.... But more than just being classy, Mrs. Grier is right.... But I say she is right because she can know the truth from a lie just as soon as she hear it (164). Octavia perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector because of her classiness, which indicates integrity, her stature, and her discernibility of fact from fiction. In a community rife with pandemonium, missing children, and dead children, the ability to discern what is true and what is false is vital. Octavia is cognizant of this, which explains why she frequents Mrs. Grier s classroom, even though she is a former student. This action, implicitly shows why she perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector. First, Octavia visits her after her friend, Rodney, goes missing. Then, Octavia consults with her after learning that her mother wants her to leave Atlanta. When Octavia feels the most helpless, she runs to Mrs. Grier the woman who can help her the most. Perhaps, the role and perception of black female leaders do not change from the private to the public sphere because of fictive kinship. Unlike black male leadership, which depends on blood ties, black female leadership depends on the function more than the fact. Moreover, Mrs. Grier s behavior, which is consistent with that of a matriarch, is just as impactful and rewarding to Octavia, even though she is not the female leader of her household. In fact, black women are commonly absorbed into other households: There was a black lady on Channel Two whom Mama liked to call by her first name and critique on her appearance like she was somebody they actually knew (24). Accordingly, the conflation of black women and motherhood, within the black community, creates an inelasticity among the roles and perceptions they hold in any sphere, domestic or public. Why do Jones and Bambara establish these gendered dynamics? Truthfully, it is more accurate to view these gendered dynamics as reproductions. The purpose of this paper is to persuade and demonstrate that ongoing Military engagements are direct contributors to the peace, economy and political stability throughout Southeast Asia. The History and Economic Relationships After the Spanish American war a series of opportunities brought a lot of regional players and foreign powers to the Philippines, the United States took the position that Spain once had. The Unites States saw the Philippines islands as a strategic place that would open commerce and trade to the far east Asia from the beginning and their stance did not change after their surrender. After World War II (WWII) most countries in Southeast Asia became independent. Most countries in the region share a business and trade relationship which is in favor of their individual and collective growth, while some others share problems with migration, limited resources and political vitality. For some time, the United States have been a key influencer of stability providing military presence and advising countries throughout southeast Asia to maintain territorial and economic integrity. After the independence of a few countries in Indochina, countries with India and China influences located in the same continental area, the Vietnam War began with the communist North Vietnam attempt to conquer the south. Nevertheless, a good definition of it could be as follows: a study of ... the way in which people learn a language other than their mother tongue, inside or outside a classroom. (Ellis, 1997:3) From the 1940s to the 1960s, a psycholinguistic theory known as behaviourism (stimulus response), was developed, becoming recognised as a legitimate theory behind SLA. By providing a theoretical framework, then going on to discuss the arguments for and against the CA hypothesis, a conclusion on its reliability will be drawn. THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK In order to fully understand the reasons for which the CA hypothesis has fallen into decline, with questions of its reliability in being sufficient in the explanation of errors made by L2 learners, it is necessary to examine other theories behind SLA. Firstly, as aforementioned, behaviourism (and therewith CA) was one school of thought, popularised by B.F Skinner and John Watson. CA is explained in Robert Lado s Linguistics Across Cultures (1957, p. 2) in which he asserts that those elements that are similar to the [learner s] native language will be simple for him, and those areas that are different will be difficult. By this, Lado meant that errors made in the L2 (by learners) are due to habits which differed from the structures in their L1 and these errors would thus reflect the L1 s structure. However, there is another notable hypothesis which aims to explain the errors made by learners of a second language, that being Larry Selinker s interlanguage hypothesis. According to Rod Ellis (1997:33), this was coined in recognition of the fact that, although L2 construct a linguistic system that does adopt part of the L1 structure, but is also differs from it and also from the target language. There are three strands of yoga that have developed over the past centuries. The tree strands are Classical Yoga, Advaita Vedanta, and Tantra Yoga. Classical Yoga is a dualistic model in which purusha and prakriti are completely separate. Everything has an equal and opposite counter part in this strand of yoga. Advaita Vedanta Yoga was a response to dualistic, Classical Yoga. This strand of yoga is monistic and is a view that affirms the unity of all things. Everything is one. The divine consciousness is everywhere and in everything we see. Tantra Yoga is non dualistic while also realizing and accepting that there is diversity in the world. Each of these strands of yoga looks at Kali s story differently and its significance is different in each view. In Classical Yoga, the view is that one must overcome prakriti. In doing so, the individual is able to free the mind from their body to experience purusha. Kali is the creator of prakriti. She is the force that drives the world and it s lila. It is often thought that when a bad storm or tornado hits, it is her doing. A yogi of this view would meditate to Kali as the goddess of destruction, not the mother. Computers must be acted upon in order to think or to search for an answer. Computers are an invention created by man. They must be programmed to something, they do not exist or act without the assistance of man. • 43. The Soldier Of The Army The skills required to be an officer in the US army have changed dramatically over the course of the army s lifetime. The training, or lack of training, shaped the officers into what the army decided it needed at the time, while also shaping the officer s own combat experiences as they were shipped to their respective wars. These things created an atmosphere of leadership that were radically different from each iteration of the US army, producing different kinds of officers for each. The first thing that set apart each of these officers was the training they had as officers and soldiers before being shipped off into combat. The stories of each of the officers shows a progression of the idea of the professional soldier overtaking the idea of the citizen warrior that dominated the culture of the army during the earlier years of American history. This culture of the citizen warrior is easily seen during the Civil War and the training Rhodes recieved both as a soldier and an officer. The army seemed wholly unprofessional at the time as it seemed to rely on the grunts as much as the officers for direction. During Rhode s first few days in the army he was elected First Sergeant by the company he was serving with at the time. He was clearly chosen simply because the men around him liked him and certainly not due to any experience he had in the field. Just what a First Sergeant s duty might be I had no idea... The NHS system in Scotland has had an integrated structure since 2004 yet local authorities continue to take on the responsibility of social care. A few years later Wales followed Scotland in 2009 with the formation of unified local health boards (Goodman, 2012). The Government has specified that it is dedicated to making evidence based integrated care. In 2014 they planned to invest £1 billion through the Better Care Fund . This intends to link up health and social care services between the NHS and local authorities (Glasby, 2016). The aim is to allow more people to be cared for in the community and ultimately save the health care money. Different areas are progressing at different levels with levels of ambition ranging (Glasby, 2012). The Kings Fund (2011) stated that they believe the NHS commissioning board and the Department of Health need to dedicate urgent priority to investing in approaches that measure the experiences of patients, carers and service users in relation to integrated ...
