Fast Food
Market and environmental analysis of McDonalds Corp 2003.
Market and environmental analysis is an essential part of an organization s External Analysis.
The main objectives of a market analysis are;
a)To determine how attractive a market is.
b)To understand the dynamics of the market and amend strategies accordingly.
Here we apply the dimensions of a Market Analysis to McDonalds corp.
1)Emerging submarkets;
McDonalds failed to recognize the changing trend in customer s preferences to better tasting,
fresher food. This trend led to new sub markets emerging for tastier, fresher and fast foodperceived
as healthier. A few of the smaller/privately owned competitors (Cosi and Quizno s) were able to
operate in niche markets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the rising immigrant population customers now had a choice of items. McDonalds realize this
too late and try to counter this effect by introducing new burgers. However, the testing of the new
menu does not gauge strongly enough the changing customer preferences and this poor planning
led to its failure.
Internally changing trends were also blindsided. Franchisees who were the closest to customers
were not included in decision making and were thus disgruntled. Here was the need to change the
management style from top down to bottom up. This would have solved some of the issues
plaguing McDonalds, by providing data on what customers want and what products would have a
greater chance of success.
7)Key success Factors
McDonalds did have some strengths or key success factors;
a)Large number of franchises that led to economies of scale. This however contrasted to the small is
beautiful concept of the niche markets.
b)Complete training for franchisees to begin and run their own McDonalds proved to be a good
team building exercise.
c)Cost of food was low due to economies of scale and economies of size. Moreover, McDonalds
was able to negotiate a reasonable price for high quality food products.
McDonalds failed to realize the changing trends in the casual fast food markets, as a result of
which, a large part of the market share was taken over by existing brands like Wendy s and new
players

Essay on Nursing Coat of Arms
Nursing is a profession whose focus is not only to care for the physical aspects of an illness but
also to integrate the psychological, spiritual, and social aspects of the client s life into their care.
The values of the nursing profession are based upon the teachings of Florence Nightingale; a
pioneer of the nursing profession. Nursing is not only based on scientific knowledge and
evidence based practice, but also on a foundation of moral values that help provide the client
with the most humane care possible. A Coat of Arms is the integration of a variety of symbols
that illustrate the values of a family, person, or in this case; a profession. A Coat of Arms is not
only used to symbolize values, but is perceived as a sign of honour and... Show more content on

This value is represented in our coat of arms as the outline of a brain. This symbol was chosen
because regardless of how different our knowledge base is or how extensive it is, it will always
remain within our minds. Critical thinking is the ability to solve a problem by looking at its
evidence, asking questions, analyzing answers, and being open minded about the possible
outcomes or causes of the problem. Critical thinking allows the nurse to effectively solve any
problem that arises with a patient no matter how complex the problem may be. Critical thinking is
illustrated in our Coat of Arms as a puzzle and a question mark, where the puzzle represents the
complexity of the problem that has been attained or is being approached and the question mark
depicts the ability to ask questions and to use knowledge to solve the problem. Next our Coat of
Arms illustrates the figure of a lion. The lion was chosen to represent the value of leadership, which
is immensely important to the nursing profession. Leadership is achieved in the nursing profession
through education of both the nurse and client, and the ability to influence not only the client but
also the community as a whole. Leadership also means that the nurse is able to support others in
their quest to recovery of health, maintenance of health,

Drug Therapy And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Amanda Bynes, an American actress, was diagnosed with both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
in 2013. Treatment of these disorders can be approached in medical, biological and psychological
ways, including the use of family therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. However, a popular
method of treating many mental disorders is antipsychotics or antipsychoticdrugs.
Antipsychotic drugs are drugs that are used to treat schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders.
Medications have undergone significant improvement over the past few decades and can be
effective for psychotic symptoms, anxiety, depression and other disorders. Antipsychotic drugs
work by blocking the chemical dopamine receptors in parts of the brain such as the mesolimbic ...

Bipolar disorder is an unstable emotional condition involving extreme mood swings of depression
and mania. The manic phase is characterised by periods of abnormality and persistently elevated,
expansive or irritable mood. Based on the knowledge of the effectiveness of antipsychotic drugs for
both of these mental disorders, we can assume that they would take sufficient action in Amanda
Bynes treatment.
For the treatment of bipolar disorder, antipsychotic medicines are sometimes prescribed to treat
episodes of mania or hypomania. Examples of antipsychotic medicines include: aripiprazole,
olanzapine, quetiapine and risperidone. These drugs may also be used as a long term mood
stabiliser and quetiapine can be used for the treatment of bipolar depression in the long term.
Antipsychotic medicines can be particularly useful if symptoms are severe or behaviour is
disturbed. As there is a chance that the antipsychotics could cause side effects, the initial dose will
usually be low. These side effects could include weight gain, blurred vision, constipation and dry
mouth. If prescribed an antipsychotic medicine, regular health checks will be required at least
every three months. If the symptoms don t improve, the patient may be offered lithium and
valproate as well.

Moose Maddon s Death Essay
I believe that Moose Maddons death was an accident. In the story it says Moose
Maddon was a bully to Cecil but Cecil didn t usually retaliate. Cecil is a boy who wants to go to
university, on the night of his leaving Moose Martin dies. I believe that Moose Madden s death
was an accident because he was drunk and tried to log roll but fell off and died.
The reason I believe that Moose maddons death was an accident is because he was drunk the
night of his death and went on a log and fell. In the text it says I figured it was Moose and
Lefevre coming home drunk from camp three. Moose was intoxicated the night of his death
which makes him clumsy and wobbly. It would be like driving drunk it s just as likely it even
more likely he would fall of a log in the river as he would get into an accident. Also in the story it
says, One day in the fall I will go to the ravine and see how the headline was making it. It still
shocking to think that Maddon, who had been sure footed as a chipmunk, and our best log
rolling contest, had fallen to his death the way he had. Moose Lilly thought he would be able to
walk on the logs because he was one of the best at it. But since he was drunk he would be wobbly
and his balance would be off so he fell into the ravine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

on him he would be safe so there would be no reason to kill Moose to make sure nothing past little

Design Features Of The School Furniture
and the measurements and design features of the school furniture they use (Yeats, 1997;
Panagiotopoulou et al., 2004).
As we noted earlier, furniture has a significant effect on human health. Thus, it is essential to use
anthropometric data to guide the design of school desks and chairs.
However, because anthropometric measures vary among nations and ethnic groups and change over
time as populations and their environmental conditions change.
As a result, the anthropometric data used in the design of the equipment used in Turkish higher
education are based on anthropometric data from other countries and thus do not represent the
average body measurements of the Turkish people (Kayis, 1988; Turgut et al., 2004).

Most Powerful Character In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
And George raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it close to the back of
Lennie s head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his hand steadied (Steinbeck 106).
This is the quote that changed everything in Of Mice and Men. The book Of Mice and Men was
created by John Steinbeckin 1937. In the Book OF Mice and Men George and Lennie are best
friends who had to flee their town and look for work. They find work on a ranch and live there.
The story focuses on their struggles and problems on the ranch. With all the conflict there has to
be someone in charge, someone with power. In the story Of Mice and Men, George is the most

The Tort Of Negligence Developed
A tort might be stated as a civil wrong not happening out of a contract or a relationship created
on trust, which is considered by a harm of the legal right preserved on others and an act for
repressible damages. Therefore the objective of torts is toward recompense the victim and not
penalizes the wrong person. Before we start a ride into in what way tort lawoperates it would be
sensible to know the nature of the torts committed and their growths over the years. This would not
lone help in considerate the current situation in a clearer manner but can also deliver a logic of
history about torts.
During the early primary 1800 s the tort of negligence developed as a single type of torts owed to
the fact that events in the tort of negligence were growing suggestively throughout that period.
Then, the awareness of the imposition of a duty of care in negligence developed alongside cases
such as Heaven v Pender (1883), and extra outstandingly case of Donoghue v Stevenson (1932)
that remains the leading case in negligence. This case clarifies that; Mrs Donoghue and her pal
went to a cafe in Paisley. At the cafe, Mrs Donoghues pal purchased her a drink which was a
ginger beer float consisting of ginger beer that stood in an cloudy bottle. After Mrs Donoghue
drank out of the drink in a beer cup, her pal topped up the drink, and then they found in the ginger
beer bottle decomposed leftovers of a snail. Mrs Donoghue claimed that the recalls of seeing the

Essay on Determination of the Rate Constant
Determination of the Rate Constant for a Chemical Reaction
Department of Chemistry
Abstract
This experiment was performed to determine the rate constant k, for hydrolysis of tertiary butyl
chloride to tertiary butanol. The solvent system for this reaction is 45% isopropyl alcohol and
55% water. The rate of hydrolysis of t butyl chloride is measured by the decrease in the
concentration of this reagent with time. The rate of decomposition of t butyl chloride must be
equal to the rate of formation of hydrochloric acid. The rate of hydrochloric acid formation was
measured by titrating the acid produced with a base, NaOH.

The lab instructor added exactly 1.00 mL of the t butyl chloride to the flask. The reaction began
on this addition and the hydrochloric acid began to produce. This was time zero and the stopwatch
was started. The contents of the flask were swirled to facilitate the mixing and 2 mL of the 0.25 M
sodium hydroxide was added expeditiously. The exact amount of sodium hydroxide solution
added to the flask was recorded and the solution turned pink. The pink color produced when
sodium hydroxide was added, eventually faded due to the production of hydrochloric acid. The
time that had elapsed from the zero time of the t butyl chloride addition to the color fade was
recorded as well as the temperature. 2 mL of sodium hydroxide was added in increments and the
times and temperature for the color changes was recorded for approximately 10 additions. At the
end of the titrations the contents of the flask were kept and a stopper was placed on the flask and
placed in the locker to titrate the excess HCl produced at the next lab. The initial concentration of
t butyl chloride was calculated after the reaction had gone to completion. The number of moles of t
butyl chloride present in the solution before the reaction is the total number of moles of t butyl
chloride added. This quantity is equal to the total moles of HCl produced after the reaction had
gone to completion. The total moles of HCl were measured by titrating with sodium hydroxide

Implementing A Successful Cross Training Program Essay
CREATING AND IMPLEMENTING A SUCCESSFUL CROSS TRAINING
PROGRAMBefore developing a cross training program, we need to plan accordingly. Not all
employees need to be trained in all positions. We need to cross train a little at a time as there is
no need to cross train all our employees at the same time. I suggest creating a formal job rotation
program. We could reduce the workload during the training process since it will take the new
person longer to perform the task until their individual proficiency is reached. This reduced
workload will help employees feel less resentful that they are being required to do more work.
Lastly, we must remember that employees don t retain the cross training skills forever and must
be re trained periodically. The following questions need to be addressed: How will we
communicate the strategy to employees; especially those employees who for various reasons may
not be the best fit for cross training? What are the positions within the organization should be
targeted for a cross training initiative? Which employees are ready to be cross trained and how will
we determine who will be cross trained? In order to answer these questions, we must examine the
following.Communication. We need to introduce to the employees the benefits of cross training.
Explain to them that will be learning new skills that can help them grow. We must be sure to
explain that the reason for cross training is not to eliminate positions, but to increase their overall
development

Southwest Airlines Tribulations Essay
Southwest Airlines has faced many tribulations in its short history. From beating out the
competition of well established airlines to creating one of the most successful airlines in U.S.
aviation history, Southwest has always had a roadblock. Its first major roadblock was airline
regulation. Southwest particularly wanted to deregulate the airline industry so that it could expand,
and participate in interstate commerce. Regulation of the airline industry, in its plainest sense, was
against the most basic American business principle: capitalism. Southwest fought for deregulation
and through the work of many other parties, the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 was signed into
law by President Carter. Southwest s first major hurdle was behind them, but little did they know
that its next was right around the corner. On January 13, 1974, the new Dallas Fort Worth
International Airport (DFW) became operational. With its new design, massive runways, and
terminals, DFW quickly became the poster child of the metropolitan area. DFW swiftly
overshadowed Dallas Love Field(DAL), reducing traffic from 7 million in 1973 to just 500,000 in
1974 (CITATION). Many airlines relocated from DAL to DFW; however, this was not enough for

The Theme Of Compassion Mercy
THE THEME OF COMPASSION MERCY IN THE GOSPEL OF LUKE BY LYNETTE IDIO
Achievement Standard 91724
The Greek word, eleos, best translates into mercy and compassion . It is significant that eleos
appears six times in Gospel of Luke, also known as, the Gospel of Mercy . Compassion is a
powerful awareness of concern for other s suffering and feeling sympathy. While mercy is the
exercised virtue of forgiving, founded on compassion. Simply, mercy is putting the emotional
connection of sympathy or pity of others into action. These Catholic virtues are especially
highlighted within the Catholic Church s current teaching amid our 2016 Jubilee Year of Mercy
(8th December 2015 to 20th November 2016). Pope Francis calls Catholic all over the world to
bring Jesus mission here on Earth.
to bring a word and gesture of consolation to the poor, to proclaim liberty to those bound by new
forms of slavery in modern society, to restore sight to those who can see no more because they are
caught in themselves, to restore dignity to all those from whom it has been robbed. (n.16)
The Gospel of Luke thoroughly illustrates the themes of mercy and compassion in his use of
literary devices such as symbols, stories and parables. Luke urges how significant it is to feel and
deliver the ready willingness to help anyone in need in our society. The Gospel offers a model to
live out these virtues through Jesus actions and his parables.

1293). Bosman also took legal action against UEFA, the European Football Association, to the
European Court of Justice in an attempt to invalidate UEFA s gentlemen s agreement . The
gentlemen s agreement, also known as the 3 plus 2 rule, allowed domestic leagues to set their
own maximum number of foreign players that a particular club could have. The 3 plus 2 rule
states that only three foreign players and two foreign players who had been in the country for
more than five years could play on the field at the same time for a club in domestic matches. In
April 1992, the Belgian Court of Justice declared no legal consequences for the suit, so Bosman
decided to drop the charges against his club and the Belgian league in order to develop a new
claim against UEFA. In his new claim, he stated that the 3 plus 2 rule and European transfer
system breached the Articles 48, 85 and 86 of the Treaty of Rome, and they should be
considered null and voided. (Lee, 1995) On December 15th, 1995 the European Court of Justice
finally reached a verdict and the transfer market in European football was changed forever.
According to Case C 415/93, The European Court of Justice ruled that it was illegal for clubs to
stop players from moving clubs once their contracts have expired. The European Court of Justice
also banned the restrictions that a club could have on the number of players that belong to the

The Key Aspects Of The Relationship Between Poverty And...
This policy report will identify and discuss the evidence towards the key aspects of the
relationship between abuse and neglect and the greater economic hardship which will have an
impact on poverty and how this affects the chance of a child being abused or neglected. Looking
at the evidence it is clear to see that there is a strong link associated between poverty and a child
suffering from abuse and neglect.
Introduction and context
According to NSPCC there are more than 50,000 children in the UK are abused and neglected
annually, this estimates that there are 8 children suffering abuse for every one child that is
identified. This is a strong link between socio economic circumstances of families and the chances
of the child experiencing abuse and neglect. This association extends across all developed countries,
different types of abuse and culture variation depending on the culture however definitions and
research methods deem equal to both poverty and child protection systems.
The families socio economic circumstances affect the relationship across the whole of society and
not just a simple divide of poverty. This then has a poor outcome in relation to the child s
inequalities to health and education and provides a link between the likelihood of abuse and neglect
with the greater economic hardship.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines child abuseas all forms of physical and/or emotional
ill treatment, sexual abuse, neglect or negligent treatment or commercial

Ralph Waldo Emerson uses the metaphor of a transparent eyeball to illustratethat humanity can

Busy adults should enjoy nature with the abandon that a child would. Like an innocent child, he
points out that nature never wears a mean appearance (241). When Emersonexplains, The sun
illuminates only the eye of the man, but shines into the eye and heart of the child (241), he
givesthe reader insight as to how they are alike. Children are not in a rush, and neither is nature.
People need to remember their inner child and stop trying to hurry and accomplish and worry
about everything all the time. They should stop and really pay attention. Emerson makes the
point that if people will look at nature through the eyes of a child once again, and really see it as
if they are looking through a transparent eyeball, then they will get back in touch with their own
thoughts and feelings. Children are not caught up in society s politics, rules, and social problems
the way adults are. Instead they are focused on the joys of nature such as picking flowers and
climbing trees. Everyone should try to look at the world in a more child like way in order to

The Design of Life
The Design of Life God or Evolution?
Life has indeed been designed, but by whom or what is the central controversy. Creationists
believe it was an intelligent designer, namely, God; evolutionists believe it was a driving force of
nature, namely, natural selection. Natural selection works when life forms with advantageous
survival traits live long enough to breed, therefore passing on those traits to the next generation.
Life forms with weaker traits die before breeding, and therefore disappear from the gene pool.
Genetic diversity results in slight variations of these hereditary traits from generation to generation,
which allows a species to adapt to the changing demands of a changing environment. This results in

The problem is one of choosing the correct analogy. He pointed out that the universe more
resembles a living organism than a mechanical watch which indicates that the universe must have
started as a fetus in a cosmic womb! Other scholars also lampooned Paley s argument; Voltaire
argued that noses must have been designed to hold up glasses, and that bunny rabbits must have
been given white tails so they could be easier to shoot. The idea of design was so thoroughly and
effectively ridiculed that theologians of the time actually stopped using it as an argument, although,
curiously enough, it would resurface in the 20th century.
Darwin essentially agreed that life had been designed, although not necessarily by the designer that
Paley evoked. Darwin s advance on the argument was that the designer did not have to be an
intelligent being, but could also be a driving force of nature. Consider the example of horse
breeding. A rancher can select any trait among his horses that he would like to emphasize for
example, small size. By breeding his smallest horses together, he will eventually obtain a line of
miniature horses. Evolutionists cite this as proof that species can change as a result of selective
breeding. Creationists respond quite rightly that the process needs a designer, in this case the
rancher. But evolutionists point out that the same process happens in nature. Imagine a land
separated by a mountain range a thousand miles long.

Charleston Southern University History
The History of Charleston Southern University
Cassidy Malchow
Critical Thinking and Writing in Criminal Justice
December 13, 2016 Abstract
This paper explores the history of Charleston Southern University located in the heart of the
Lowcountry in Charleston, South Carolina. With its core Christian values, Charleston Southern
achieves an atmosphere that most universities cannot. The history of this school can be pinpointed
back to 1964 when it was initially founded (University History and Milestones, 2015). The early
years were fairly rough, with low enrollment rates and very few majors being offered (Joslin,
Merkling, Strubel, 2014). However, the university went through countless changes that drove it to
be the successful school that it is today. Now, Charleston Southern University is an academically
excellent school and also a member of the NCAA Division I Big South Conference. This school
started as merely an idea and expanded into a thriving university full of thousands of students. ...

Essay on William Shakespeare s Othello
In Shakespeare s play Othello, tragedy unfolds on the account of one man s actions, Iago. He is
a twenty eight year old military veteran from Venice. His personality consists of being obsessive,
manipulative, relentless, and bold. From the beginning he expressed his hatred towards the Moor,
or North African named Othello. Othello is a highly respected general and is also married to the
pure Desdemona. The marriage between Othello and Desdemona is destroyed due to Iago s
actions and lies. His actions consist of getting Michael Cassio discharged as lieutenant and

The reason Cassio is discharged as Othello s lieutenant is because he fought Montano, who was
the governor of Cyprus before Othello. Now that Cassio has been discharged as lieutenant, Iago
has achieved one of goals because Othello tell Iago Now art thou my lieutenant (III, ii. 485).
Although his hate for Othello still remains as he has suspicion that he has slept with his wife,
Emilia. Iago s next achievement in Shakespeare s play Othello is to convince Othello that his
wife is cheating on him. He wants to destroy their marriage because he believes Othello has slept
with his wife, Emilia which is another motive as to why he hates Othello. Starting in Act One,
Scene Three Iago wants to start poisoning Othello s mind with thoughts of his wife having an
affair with Cassio. He states in lines 385 387, Let s see. After some time, to abuse Othello s ear
that he is too familiar with his wife . Iago is going to put the impression that Cassio and
Desdemona are having an affair. Iago wants to put these thoughts into Othello s head; therefore
Othello can experience the same betrayal and heartbreak that he is experiencing. He believes
Othello will trust his word because Cassio is good looking and a smooth talker. In Act Three,
Scene Three Iago starts hinting to Othello that his lieutenant, Michael Cassio could be having an
affair with Othello s wife Desdemona. Iago tells Othello, Look to

The Spirit Catches You And You Fall Down Analysis
The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down is a cultural comparison between two cultures Hmong

Reflection On Racism
Of course though the results of my analysis are bias (just like everyone else s) due to my friends
and my already developing political values but it is what I believe to be true. When I sat through
that lecture that day in class I was annoyed because it took me and others off guard and
squandered our time. It left me feeling as if me and my fellow students were separated based
upon our races. It formed a mental segregation in the class dividing us into our respected groups.
This event did not frustrate me because of the scholarship in itself, it was the fact that they were a
government subsidised group and a organization that practices any form of discrimination no
matter if it is well intended or not should never be funded by the federal government. These is
what was basically running through my head during the presentation and lead to me looking at the
broader picture and how this could affect a community or even society as a whole during the
following days.I started to think of it in differing points of view, although nearly impossible even
trying to place myself in the shoes of the African Americanstudents it helped to try and find a
sturdy reasoning for the program. I found it insulting not to me but to the very student it was
praised for helping. If I was a African American student and was given racially based scholarship

Glorified Gladiators
Audience Purpose:
This report is meant to address the need for the neuroscience community to focus more on the socio
and psychological desire for violent sports, such as the National Football League (NFL) and the
historical evidence of social appeal that dates back to ancient Rome. Introduction:
The study of Rome presents an opportunity to relate the past to the present, and analyze how
social behaviors have prevailed overtime through sport. Although sent to their death within the
arena, the ancient public of Rome glorified gladiators. They supplied an outlet for the public to

Analyzing Mary Anning s Childhood
When one thinks of important scientific figures hailing from Europe, people such as Galileo
Galilei, Isaac Newton, or Marie Curie are the first to come to mind. Few are familiar with Mary
Anning. Although an obscure figure, Anning was one of the most significant contributors to
paleontology, known by some as the greatest fossilist the world ever knew (Torrens 257). Born
on May 21, 1799, Mary Anning was born in the town of Lyme Regis, located in England. Her
father, Richard Anning, a carpenter, and her mother, Mary Moore, had a total of nine children.
Among the nine, only Mary and Joseph Anning reached adulthood; the rest had passed away while
they were children (Famous People Mary Anning). Mary Anning is known to have had unique
experiences as a child. At the age of one, a woman holding Anning was struck by lightning and
killed, along with two others. Anning was rendered unconscious, but was brought back after a
warm bath. After this event, it is documented that the formerly dull and sickly Anning showed
higher signs of intelligence, and was livelier (Dickens). Although it is difficult to say whether or
not this event truly affected her intelligence because of her age as to when it happened, it is a
remarkable story, nonetheless. As Mary went through her childhood, she developed a... Show more

immigrants face when living in America. In The Bean Trees, the character Taylor decides to

On a talk show, Mattie discusses the controversy topic of deportation of immigrants. She tells a
story about pair of immigrants who were discovered deadkilled after deportation. Then the TV
showed both Mattie and the interview man talking without sound, and another man s voice told
us that the immigration and naturalization service had returned to illegal aliens, a woman and her
son, to her native El Salvador last week, and that Mattie claimed that had been taken into custody
when they stepped off the plane in san Salvador and later were found dead in a ditch (Kingsolver
105 106). This shows how America doesn t care about what happens to illegal immigrants after
they ve been deported. This is another example of how immigrants suffer due to the ignorance
of Americans. Lou Ann has invited several people, including Estevan to a dinner party. During
the party, Estevan tells a Wild Indian Story , If you go visit hell... people sit, like us. Only they
are dying of starvation...you can go visit heaven...you see a room like the first one... but these
people are all happy and fat (Kingsolver 107 108). The story is supposed to be a metaphor to
represent how immigrants suffer in the same system as Whites who benefit in the system. Due to
this, a lot of privileged Americans do not see how the immigrants are suffering. Taylor was walking
through a room that used to hold a family on immigrants.

A Leg Stand On By Oliver Sacks
A Leg to Stand On, by Oliver Sacks, is a book about Sacks himself. Sacks depicts the story of his
self induced disability, and the mental/physical barriers he faced within recovery, and acceptance.
Sacks broke down this process into seven steps: the mountain, becoming a patient, limbo,
quickening, Solvitur Ambulando, convalescence, and understanding. Along with the physical and
mental barriers he faced, there were many macro/micro contextual level issues throughout the
book. These issues included problems with his doctors, with his self identification, and body ego.
Sacks grew up as an athletic individual, his health being a main priority throughout his life. He
talks about how he grew up valuing his physical health more than anything, appreciating what hid
body could do and using it to its fullest advantage. Within his physical training, he trained to climb
a mountain called Hardanger Fjord. While climbing this mountain he expressed how his body was
an instrument in which he played and used to create the music of his physical endurance. When he
was reaching the peak of the mountain, he encountered a sign warning him of dangerous bulls on
the mountain. Him thinking he was a superior being and superior to this warning, he continued his
hike despite the warning. Suddenly he was faced with the danger this deadly bull, frozen in place
from his own fear. At first he saw the beauty within the bull, but when he realizes the danger he is
in, the bull became ugly and terrifying.

Julius Caesar Thesis
Gaius Julius Caesar, a man of honor, born on 13 July 100 BCE, is currently on the look to be our
next supreme ruler of the Roman Republic. He has been offered the crown three times to become
our Republic s new emperor after his astounding victory at the Battle of Munda. Even though most
prestigious generals would gladly accept the offer to rule this civilized republic, he did not. Not
only is Julius Caesara great general, but he has also claimed descent from Ascanius, King of Alba
Longa; son of Trojan Prince Aeneas; son of Prince Anchises and goddess Venus. Julius Caesar, as
he is most commonly known, had a moderately tough childhood just like any other civilian out

also Julia Caesaris mother. Julia is the only biological and undisputed heir of Julius Caesar.
After Cornelia died in the year 69 BCE, Caesar instantaneously remarried to Pompeia, daughter
of Quintus Pompeius Rufus. Caesar later divorced Pompeia because of rumors going around
that are not known. After this, Caesar married Calpurnia, daughter of Lucius Calpurnius Piso
Caesoninus.Caesar and Calpurnia are still married to this day. Enough about Julius Caesar s
personal life; now let s talk about Julius Caesar s rise to being offered the crown. In 73 BCE he
was elected into the Pontifex, or the College of Pontiffs. Then, in 72 BCE he was elected into the
military tribune, where he gained a lot of fame and recognition. He obtained a seat in the senate
around the same time he married Pompeia. In the year 63 BCE, when he was only 37 years old,
he was elected as the Pontifex Maximus. The Pontifex Maximus as most of you are aware is the

Uncle Tom s Cabin, By Harriet Beecher Stowe
One hundred years after Harriet Beecher Stowe published Uncle Tom s Cabin in 1852, the poet
Langston Hughes called the novel, the most cussed and discussed book of its time. Hughes s
observation is particularly apt in that it avoids any mention of the novel s literary merit. George
Orwell famously called it the best bad book of the age. Uncle Tom s Cabin is arguably no Pride
and Prejudice or Scarlet Letter. Leo Tolstoy is one of the few critics who praise it unabashedly,
calling Uncle Tom s Cabin a model of the highest type of art because it flowed from love of God
and man. So why has it been called a verbal earthquake, an ink and paper tidal wave ? How and
why has it been so influential? Uncle Tom s Cabin, or Life among the Lowly is at heart a typical
nineteenth century melodrama of cruelty, suffering, religious devotion, broken homes, and
improbable reunions. The plot in brief: the slave Uncle Tom is sold away from his cabin and
family on the Shelby plantation in Kentucky; he serves the St. Clare family in Louisiana, from
which he is sold after the death of Eva and her father; he lands at the Legree plantation on the
Red River where he is whipped to death rather than betray two runaway slaves. Meanwhile some
slaves escape (Eliza on ice floes across the Ohio River) and find long lost relatives; others kill
themselves and their children. The white characters discuss politics and religion. Everybody
weeps. Uncle Tom s Cabin has been cussed and discussed since May 8,

Bm2 Welch Leadership
1.One thing I did not expect as a young man is that during my journey in the Coast Guard,
whether 4 years or 30, that I would have the privilege to meet some great leaders. As though a

BM2 Welch was rough around the edges and a stickler for detail. I was still new to the Coast
Guard and needed a firm hand BM2 provided. He gave me direction. I learned from BM2 that
working hard at every task thrown at someone is essential to be a good shipmate. As a brand new

I never really understood how to deal with humility, until BM1 Marquardt demonstrated it to me.
He was arrogant and hard to work for and not well liked regardless of pay grade. That changed
after the Commanding Officer revoked his coxswain qualifications. The very first thing he did
was except ownership and vowed to use this as an opportunity to improve. There was no self
pity or a carelessness attitude; he stayed true to his word. Working with the same people he
qualified, his recertification was completed in a timely manner. He didn t become just a better
coxswain, he became a better leader who gain the respect of all the people who had enough of his
previous attitude. Rob Marquardt taught me the importance of humility and how to improve from
failure. Someone that has taught me to inspire others is MECM Dewitt, expects everyone to

admirable trait is his ability to hold people accountable regardless of who the individual is. Great

The Presidential Election Of 2016
The Presidential Election of 2016 is not until November, but both parties are beginning to narrow
their fields down and begin their preparation for an election that is expected to be highly
contested. With previous election seasons, the current primary season has already seen some
notable in fighting within the two major political parties, with potential candidates attacking each
other in an attempt to get their party nominated. What is very interesting is how fluctuating the
support for a candidate can be during the primary season. For example, Republican Donald
Trump once had a formable lead over the next contender Hillary Clinton. In the democratic field,
the top three candidates were Hillary Clinton , Bernie Sanders, and Martin O Malley. [1] From
Washington to Washington D.C the idea that Donald Trump could become president has
alternately set off fits of laughter and terror. Out of all of the republican candidates Donald Trump
is easily most polarizing. People either really love or really hate the businessman, who isn t afraid
to speak his mind.[2] Trump has no experience in politics, but does have the experience as a
businessman. Trump s stance on the issues taking place is difficult to determine, not because he
hasn t made an issue statement but because he has made to many issue statements and has, in fact,
been a member of both political parties in previous years. The establishment argument goes

The Problem And Its Background Essay
CHAPTER 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
Diabetes is a systemic disease caused by a decrease in the secretion of insulin or reduced
sensitivity or responsiveness to insulin by target tissue. (Beale, et al., 2011) The incidence of
diabetes is growing rapidly in the United States and worldwide. An estimated 347 million people
around the world are afflicted with diabetes. (Whalen, et al., 2012) According to World Health
Organization (WHO), Diabetes prevalence among adults over 18 years of age has risen from
4.7% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2014. It is the major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke
and limbic amputation. World Health Organization (WHO) projects that diabetes will be the 7th
leading cause of death in 2030. It is a complex and costly disease that can affect nearly every organ
in the body and result in devastating consequences. The leading cause of non traumatic lower
extremity amputations, renal failure, and blindness in working age adults, diabetes is also a major
cause of premature mortality, stroke, cardiovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, congenital
malformations, perinatal mortality, and disability. (Cefalu, 2000) Insulintherapy and oral
hypoglycemic agents have demonstrated improvement in glycaemic control. However, Insulin
therapy has some disadvantages such as ineffectiveness following oral administration, short shelf
life, of the need for constant refrigeration, and fatal hypoglycaemia, in the event of excess dosage.

have a great reputation with their products, Nike is not seen as a good corporate citizen. Nike
does not have enough campaigns that they do globally, especially in Asia after allegedly being
accused of Violating Labour Laws in 1996. Nike was involved in Child labour. The only active
campaign they have running globally is the Active Schools Campaign.
There are many strategies and tactics that Nike could use to build back their reputation and regain
the consumer base they lost when this issue started. With the large social media platforms Nike has,
They are able to show the campaigns that they do and the causes that they believe in.

The Positive And Negative Effects Of Barbie Dolls
The Positive and Negative Effects of Barbie Dolls in Society All around our world we are
constantly being told what we should act and be like for females and males. Barbie was born on
March 9, 159 in the American International Toy Fair in New York. The Barbie doll has been
influencing young girls ever since she was born. The Barbie doll have a huge influence on the
way that girls perceive their role in society and also on the way they develop. Barbie dolls in
some way reflect and influence our society values. Especially in our society today many views
on the way Barbie dolls influence our society are often negative and their ability to positively
influence young females is often denied. The Barbie Doll has been a cultural icon ever since it
was first revealed. All over the world anyone can recognize what Barbie look like and what she
symbolizes. The original design of the Barbie came up when the creator, Ruth Handler, noticed a
pattern of her daughter being attracted to a mature looking dolls instead of the baby doll. She then

The Body On The Day Of A Person s Death
Many Hindus choose to cremate the body on the day of a person s death. The reasoning used for
this statement is due to the belief that death only applies to the physical body, and not of the soul.
Hindus do not believe that the material body would be resurrected, but they believe that the soul
would lose its physical restraints after death. This highly suggests that the physical body becomes
insignificant, meaning that there is no real point in its preservation. Although some Hindus do bury
their dead, the most common practice is cremationto collect the ashes and distribute it to places of
importance. This would include places that were sacred to the person or sacred objects.

For example, the dead is particularly sensitive to matters of their death in Islam. The dead would
be able to witness the care for their bodies, their burial, and many believe that the dead should only
be talked about with kindness and praise.
Prior to cremation, the body goes through the process of being washed and oiled, the hair being
trimmed, and the body given new or clean clothes. This procedure is quite common to other
religions as well, indicating the significance of the journey. Afterward, the procession would carry
the body to the cremation ground while chanting verses that invoke in Yama s help. Yama, being
the lord of death, is a key figure in Hindu funeral rites. The procession would place the body on a
funeral pyre, and the eldest son would then walk around the pyre three times, each time pouring
sacred water on the deceased. He would then set the wood on fire with a torch that had been
blessed (Kramer).
The funeral ceremony, which forms the last of the samskara (antyeshti samskara, the final
reincarnation) varies according to different traditions and locale. Commonly, the funerals are
conducted by a priest and the eldest son of the deceased. Some rituals include placing lamps by
the head of the body, prayers and hymns being sung, rice balls being offered (placed in coffin), and

Harry S Truman Dbq
Harry S. Truman
On 8th of January 1947, at Harry S. Truman s first economic report as president to the congress of
the United Sates, he said, America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on
imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand , but little did Truman know that
these beliefs of his would become misunderstood and critiqued by the masses in coming times.
When Harry S. Truman left the presidency in January 1953, he was one of the most unpopular
politicians in the United States. However, this is unjustified as he was a real democrat for the
people and was an honest president. Furthermore, he did not make many poor discussions nor
was he inadequate leader, yet he got undeserved and bias criticism by the people of the United
States. Truman continually faced tough challenges and had to pick up from where Franklin D.
Roosevelt s unanticipated death left the nation in a mess. He was the Commander in Chief of the
United States military during the final months of World War II. Under his command, the U.S.
dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, effectively ending the war. For
many Americans, Truman s legacy as the nation s leader centres on these controversial decisions.
He had courage, imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand, yet he was
branded as a bad president during his time. In spite of that, he has overcome his challenges and had
stayed strong even after he returned to private life,

Positive Aspects Of Love
Through several types of research and experiments, Barbara Fredrickson concluded that love is a
vital nutrient in the human body. She claims that love is the body s supreme emotion , however,
negative emotion is just as important. The essay focused primarily on the positive aspects of
interaction and barely touches upon the negative. Fredrickson makes it seem as though loveis the
only emotionthe human body needs in order to survive, but that is false. Human social interaction
is all composed of psychology and biology. Every human is different, and not all expect to receive
positive resonance when speaking to another. In actuality, negative emotions are necessary for one
to develop and fully understand the positive... being happy all the time is absurd
Fredrickson claims that positivity resonance is beneficial to the human body. Despite this, there are
several negative social interactions that occur everyday. She seems to be suggesting that people
should only be positive. Though many people try desperately to attain a lifetime of happiness and
positivity, they cannot. Humans have several different emotions, and no one can be positive all the
time. When an infant and parent do click, their coordinated motions and emotions show lots of
mutual positive engagement... They connect over mutual distress or indifference, rather than over
mutual affection (Fredrickson 116 117). During this experiment, it is proved that children and
parents connect over how they engage with one

White Noise By Don Delillo Essay
Don DeLillo throughout White Noise confirms through his characters that the individual is
capable of expressing feelings instantaneously, but for the most part are calculated in their
actions, and give off a façade. With the vast use of characters, from Jack Gladney to the nun,
we can take a closer look at the individuals in the world filled with white noise. There is truly the
possibility for human kind to be honest down to the bone, for instance what Gladney expresses
love for his children, even the stepchildren. Although this possibility is true, people still talk and
do things against their emotions, or preference. People take on facades, and take part in the things
they don t believe in order to find an identity of their own. This identity crisis is enhanced by
societal factors, and the influence of media with technology. Thus mankind in White Noise is
incapable of expressing their true selves, without conflicting with their external image. It boils
down to this, the emotions of the individuals are very much true, but are not surfaced, rather they
hide behind an image that is displayed to keep the people around them content. Once the image is
erased, or no longer relevant, then the character becomes insignificant. Thus all that exists for the
society of White Noise is what we are incredulous of, that becomes their reality. Commencing the
analysis of this we can start with Jack Gladney the college professor, that specializes in Hitler
studies. Jack is the perfect

The Weapons Of Mass Destruction
Research Question: Are there recent developments in weapons of mass destruction planning?
Weapons of mass destruction, or WMD, provides a fundamental problem for governments and
other organizations such as hospitals and schools. If WMDs manage to fall into the hands of
terrorists, perhaps during a civil war, the potential for devastation and casualties is high.
Therefore planning efforts to avoid WMD scenarios remain at the top of priority lists. This
literature review will highlight the meaning of weapons of mass destruction, what some
organizations or governments have currently implemented for such a scenario, as well as other
planning efforts in order to reduce the likelihood of an attack by terrorists with WMDs. To begin,
what are weapons of mass destruction? Weapons of mass destruction (WMD) is, on the face of it,
a straightforward designation. The term is generally accepted to mean munitions whose destructive
attributes come from fission or fusion reactions, biological agents, or chemical weapons (Grove
2014). WMD s have been on the minds of Americans since the tragic events of September 11,
2001, and before that during the Cold War. There has been considerable discussion over whether
the description is one of gauge that is, enormously destructive weapons or is intended to signify the
characteristic or mysterious nature of its means of obliteration. in the article Grove highlights such
discussions to help readers understand what meaning lies for most people

Themes And Values Of Walt Disney s The Tempest
In the year of 1995, the release of the thirty third film in the Walt Disney Animated Classic series
created a substantial amount of controversy that has continued to this day. Many people think that
Walt Disney s Pocahontas was a recreation of the classic Shakespearean play known as The
Tempest. There seems to be apparent evidence for this case within the characterization and the
story line. However, it can be difficult to fully see the relationship between both of these works
without understanding the purpose behind each one. As a result, by reviewing the original themes
and values that were apparent in Shakespeare s final masterpiece, one will be able to see the
validity of this argument and determine whether or not Disney tried to... Show more content on

The first evident piece of the characterization of civilization is portrayed through the representation
of language and communication between Prospero and Caliban. In the opening act, Caliban was
able to use his local knowledge of the island to assist Prospero and help him survive after being
exiled away by his brother, Antonio, who had taken away his power and shamefully exiled him
out of Milan. In fact, without the help of Caliban, Prospero may not have survived. In return for
the kindness of Caliban, Prospero decided that it would benefit Caliban to learn how to
communicate using proper language skills (I.ii.517 519). Essentially, Prospero used his civilized
mind to enrich the mind of Caliban with new thoughts and a new way of communication. Many
of the representations dealing with civilization in this play revolve around the concept that new
ideas will have a substantial benefit over the old ideas that are used as a representation of
society. The idea of civilization coupled with the use of theatrical elements within this play allow
the reader to be able to comprehend the comparison between classic Shakespearean works that
have been modified and recreated to meet the needs of today s modern society. In other words, the
plot and story line of many of Shakespeare s plays have been

Causes And Treatment Of Cryptosporidium Species Are...
Cryptosporidium species are intestinal protozoan parasites with a worldwide distribution,
responsible for diarrheal disease in a large number of vertebrate hosts including humans, and
zoonotic infection has long been acknowledged, as it is life threatening in immunocompromised
patients (Current et al., 1983). The disease has a faecal oral cycle, occurring with the ingestion of
infecting oocystes, which have environmental resistance. Separate anthroponotic and zoonotic
transmission cycles have been identified (Casemore and Jackson, 1984) and infection is
maintained by several routes: direct person to person transmission, animal to person contact either
directly or indirectly and by ingestion of contaminated food, fomites and especially drinking and
recreational water (Atherton et al., 1995; Casemore, 1990; Gallaher et al., 1989; Joce et al., 1991;
Meinhardt et al., 1996). To date it is considered one of the most difficult to control waterborne
microorganism and contaminated water represents the major source of human infection (Fayer,
2004; Ramirez et al., 2004). Waterborne outbreaks in human from agricultural sources have long
been ascribed to cattle due the high prevalence of C. parvum in calves, however it is still debated
whether sheep might have an epidemiological role for zoonotic transmission (Robertson, 2009).
Species within the genus Cryptosporidium have been traditionally classified upon host range,
oocyst morphology and site of infection and infections from farm

Similarities Between Us And Vietnam
Although US and Vietnam have many similarities, they also have greater differences. First of it,
In US, people use cars as the main transportation method. They prefer cars than other
transportation because of several reasons. The climate in US is not suitable for driving
motorbikes. Some states have cold climate, for example, Alaska and North Dakota. As a matter
of fact, Alaska has an average daytime summer temperatures range from approximately 55 to 78
degrees Fahrenheit, and North Dakota has an average of 57 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. In
addition, in Alaska, the average winter temperatures range from 5 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit and
from 23 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit in North Dakota. So it is not suitable to drive motorbikes in US.
Secondly, roads system in US is made for car transportation, because it doesn t have lanes for
motorbikes. Typically, a highway in US have 10 lanes. On the other hand, Vietnamese people use
motorbike as the main transportation method. It is easy to understand because streets in Vietnam
are mostly small and tight, so cars cannot drive into it. Furthermore, in peak hours, travelling by
motorbikes will save much time because they can wriggle through every spaces possible.
Additionally, using cars in Vietnam is increasing the amount of carbon dioxide that is expelled to
the environment because Vietnam doesn t have a modern technology to create an eco friendly car
which produces less gas to the environment. In conclusion, Vietnamese people... Show more content

Beer Wars Film Analysis
Introduction
A documentary film made in 2009, Beer wars features and describes the American beer industry
distinguishing between the large and small breweries. The large breweries feature some main
corporate companies like Coors Brewing Company, Anheuser Busch, and Miller Brewing Company
whereas the small breweries include craft beer producers like Moonshot 69, Stone Brewing
Company, Dogfish Head Brewery, Yuengling, and others. The documentary shows how the beer
market is controlled through advertising and lobbying, which is harmful for the competition in the
market. There is a reason why the small companies are falling behind and the large corporates are
controlling the market, which in turn makes it essentially oligopoly economy.

The film depicts an insight of the beer industry and its current state in America. It shows some
unexplored or hidden facts and journey of the beer industry which is intended to interest the beer
lovers. Beer Wars film describes the daily battles in the beer industry between well established
corporate beer brands and some of the upcoming innovative beer breweries. The independent and
the small breweries introduce new and innovative craft beer in this high profitable beer industry.
The documentary shows how the two small beer entrepreneurs, Rhonda and Sam try to establish
themselves in the beer industry and success in the high potential market. The film shows that the
beer industry is governed by some difficult and outdated laws along with an oligopoly of the large
brands. These large brands manipulate the beer industry by acquiring and buying off the smaller
brands which they find competitive among the market. The small brewers thus face difficulties and
barriers establishing themselves in the American beer industry. The big giants like the Coors
Brewing Company, Anheuser Busch, and the Miller Brewing Company face challenge from the
independent craft beer producers when these new brands are put on shelves; so they seek ways to
prevent distribution and production of these small brands, which is harmful for the competition in
the beer industry. Sam Calagione and Rhonda Kallman are considered as small entrepreneurs in the
beer industry who struggle from the large brands, the difficult laws, and the less competitive but
highly profitable

Charles Darwin s Influence Of Evolution On The Galapagos...
Evolution is a theory that is supported with evidence that characteristics of living organisms
change over generations. A species can change over time and may even split into two new species
through a process called Speciation. Each new species adapts to its new environment through
adaptability. This is the ability of an organism to change its physical and chemical nature to adjust
to its surroundings. For example, adaptive radiation is a form of evolutionthat Charles Darwinhad
discovered. He observed the different species of finches on the Galapagos Islands. There are at least
13 species of finches, and each has developed a different shaped beak, a thin beak for those who ate
insects, and a thicker beak for those species that ate large seeds.... Show more content on

Another influence is mutation. Mutation is a source of variation. This variation can be helpful in
survival for an organism. Mutations are the changes that occur in the DNA. A single DNA
mutation can have a large effect, but in the case of evolutionary change, this variation is based on
the gathering of many different mutations. Another form of mutation can occur within the same
species is through isolation. If a tsunami breaks out and causes a separation in wild life, one of
the species can be affected with a mutation, causing a change in species, while the other doesn t
get affected. Darwin s findings on Galapagos Islands are perfect examples that demonstrate the
effects that isolations and mutations (including environmental changes) have on species.
Environmental changes ties into the influences of evolution. An organism can change its physical
and chemical nature to adjust to its surrounding. Over time, a certain species will die out due to
lack of survival in the environment, and a new species will evolve. Environmental change also
forces the organism to adapt to the new environment. For example, if a species is limited to eating
a certain type of plant, and a change occurs, like a mold breaks out and kills most of it, that species
has to either evolve to engulf the fungus, or find something else to

Narrative Voice In Lot s Wife
The depiction of the characters is a vital aspect of Szymborska s works. This is notable in the
poems Lot s Wife and The Terrorist, He s Watching (see Appendix 1). This depiction of the
characters is influenced by many literary techniques, one being narrative voice. Narrative voice
can be defined as the eyes the reader sees a story through. This is separated into three distinct
types: first, second and third person. First person is typically told from the perspective of the main
character, second personaddresses the main character as you and third person refers to the
characters as he or she. Third person can either be omniscient; knowing an unlimited amount of
information about all characters, events and conflicts in the story, or... Show more content on

The poem commences with a third person narrative voice. This persona describes the terrorist as
enjoying the moment, The terrorist has already crossed the street. / The distance keeps him out of
danger, / and what a view just like the movies: (5 7). By describing the situation as movie like, it
shows that the terrorist values his life over others as he situates himself at a distance where he can
observe safely. This idea is also expressed through the fact that the language is factual, observational
and unemotional, conveying the emotional detachment of the terrorist towards the pain and
suffering he will inflict. The use of language in this is vastly different to that of Lot s Wife with the
contrast of emotional language and factual language. The descriptions of the individuals are
detached with mundane characteristics, such as the crummy gloves (26), only being mentioned.
This creates the sense that these individuals are less important than him, showing that the terrorist
looks down on them. Throughout the piece, there is a sense of dramatic irony, with the terrorist
knowing something that the people entering and exiting the bar don t. This introduces the idea that
the terrorist perceives this situation as comedic. This idea is continued with the use of time
intervals marking the countdown of the detonation.

How Did The Bubonic Plague Impact The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire can be brought back all the way to 330 AD. It was created by Constantine I,
he wanted to have Constantinople stand as the new Roman capital. The Byzantine Empire lasted
until 1453. This is increasingly impressive since it suffered through a strand of the Bubonic Plague.
This plague took the name of the Justinian Plague, named after the ruler Justinian the First (527 565
CE) who was in reign during the first outbreak (History). Procopius, the historian of the Byzantine
Empireduring this time, said in his book that nearly 25% of the population had died from the
disease (Ancient History Encyclopedia). The plague impacted the Byzantine Empire, during the 225
years that it was around, economically, and politically. The plague

Examples Of Conflict In Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan
Within the text Rules of the Game written by Amy Tan, the clash of Chinese beliefs and values with
those of American beliefs and values can be seen. This clash of values and beliefs between two
culture causes many mother daughter conflicts throughout the story. Waverly grew up in San
Francisco in a Chinese American neighborhood while her motherwas a first generation immigrant.
This difference in their surroundings has caused their beliefs and values to differ from each other.
Due to the clashing of Chinese and American cultures, there are multiple incidents of conflict
between MeiMei and her mother. A key example of such an incident is when MeiMei is forced to
accompany her mother to the Saturday market. According to the text, MeiMei s mother would
proudly walk with MeiMei and tell everyone who looked towards them that MeiMei was her
daughter. MeiMei then told her mom if she could stop telling everyone who looked their way that
MeiMei was her daughter. Her mother misunderstood what MeiMei said, thinking that MeiMei was
ashamed of walking with her. This then caused MeiMei to tell her mother, If you wantto show me
off, then why don t you learn to play chess. When MeiMei had realized that what she said was
wrong, she ran away from her mother. To MeiMei, her mother going around and telling everyone
that MeiMei was her daughter was embarrassing because she didn t want her mom to use her as
a source to gain popularity. In MeiMei s beliefs, her chess victories were her own
accomplishments, one she should be the only one to use since she feels as though she gained them
on her own. Her mother on the other hand, sees MeiMei s achievements as a victory for the whole
familyand is proud of her daughter. MeiMei misunderstands this, thinking her mother was just
crediting herself for MeiMei s work and so runs off. This clash in values caused this incident.
MeiMei s escape from her mother leads to a new conflict of MeiMei running away from her mom.
It is stated in the text that MeiMei ran through the alleyways until she realized that she was running
from nothing. After two hours, MeiMei returned home and her mother said, We not concerning this
girl. This girl not have concerning for us. From this it can be

  • 2. Fast Food Market and environmental analysis of McDonalds Corp 2003. Market and environmental analysis is an essential part of an organization s External Analysis. The main objectives of a market analysis are; a)To determine how attractive a market is. b)To understand the dynamics of the market and amend strategies accordingly. Here we apply the dimensions of a Market Analysis to McDonalds corp. 1)Emerging submarkets; McDonalds failed to recognize the changing trend in customer s preferences to better tasting, fresher food. This trend led to new sub markets emerging for tastier, fresher and fast foodperceived as healthier. A few of the smaller/privately owned competitors (Cosi and Quizno s) were able to operate in niche markets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the rising immigrant population customers now had a choice of items. McDonalds realize this too late and try to counter this effect by introducing new burgers. However, the testing of the new menu does not gauge strongly enough the changing customer preferences and this poor planning led to its failure. Internally changing trends were also blindsided. Franchisees who were the closest to customers were not included in decision making and were thus disgruntled. Here was the need to change the management style from top down to bottom up. This would have solved some of the issues plaguing McDonalds, by providing data on what customers want and what products would have a greater chance of success. 7)Key success Factors McDonalds did have some strengths or key success factors; a)Large number of franchises that led to economies of scale. This however contrasted to the small is beautiful concept of the niche markets. b)Complete training for franchisees to begin and run their own McDonalds proved to be a good team building exercise. c)Cost of food was low due to economies of scale and economies of size. Moreover, McDonalds was able to negotiate a reasonable price for high quality food products. McDonalds failed to realize the changing trends in the casual fast food markets, as a result of which, a large part of the market share was taken over by existing brands like Wendy s and new players ... Essay on Nursing Coat of Arms Nursing is a profession whose focus is not only to care for the physical aspects of an illness but also to integrate the psychological, spiritual, and social aspects of the client s life into their care. The values of the nursing profession are based upon the teachings of Florence Nightingale; a pioneer of the nursing profession. Nursing is not only based on scientific knowledge and evidence based practice, but also on a foundation of moral values that help provide the client with the most humane care possible. A Coat of Arms is the integration of a variety of symbols that illustrate the values of a family, person, or in this case; a profession. This value is represented in our coat of arms as the outline of a brain. This symbol was chosen because regardless of how different our knowledge base is or how extensive it is, it will always remain within our minds. Critical thinking is the ability to solve a problem by looking at its evidence, asking questions, analyzing answers, and being open minded about the possible outcomes or causes of the problem. Critical thinking allows the nurse to effectively solve any problem that arises with a patient no matter how complex the problem may be. Critical thinking is illustrated in our Coat of Arms as a puzzle and a question mark, where the puzzle represents the complexity of the problem that has been attained or is being approached and the question mark depicts the ability to ask questions and to use knowledge to solve the problem. Next our Coat of Arms illustrates the figure of a lion. The lion was chosen to represent the value of leadership, which is immensely important to the nursing profession. Leadership is achieved in the nursing profession through education of both the nurse and client, and the ability to influence not only the client but also the community as a whole. Leadership also means that the nurse is able to support others in their quest to recovery of health, maintenance of health, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Treatment of these disorders can be approached in medical, biological and psychological ways, including the use of family therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. However, a popular method of treating many mental disorders is antipsychotics or antipsychoticdrugs. Antipsychotic drugs are drugs that are used to treat schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders. Bipolar disorder is an unstable emotional condition involving extreme mood swings of depression and mania. The manic phase is characterised by periods of abnormality and persistently elevated, expansive or irritable mood. Based on the knowledge of the effectiveness of antipsychotic drugs for both of these mental disorders, we can assume that they would take sufficient action in Amanda Bynes treatment. For the treatment of bipolar disorder, antipsychotic medicines are sometimes prescribed to treat episodes of mania or hypomania. Examples of antipsychotic medicines include: aripiprazole, olanzapine, quetiapine and risperidone. These drugs may also be used as a long term mood stabiliser and quetiapine can be used for the treatment of bipolar depression in the long term. Antipsychotic medicines can be particularly useful if symptoms are severe or behaviour is disturbed. As there is a chance that the antipsychotics could cause side effects, the initial dose will usually be low. These side effects could include weight gain, blurred vision, constipation and dry mouth. If prescribed an antipsychotic medicine, regular health checks will be required at least every three months. If the symptoms don t improve, the patient may be offered lithium and valproate as well. • 5. Moose Maddon s Death Essay I believe that Moose Maddons death was an accident. In the story it says Moose Maddon was a bully to Cecil but Cecil didn t usually retaliate. Cecil is a boy who wants to go to university, on the night of his leaving Moose Martin dies. I believe that Moose Madden s death was an accident because he was drunk and tried to log roll but fell off and died. The reason I believe that Moose maddons death was an accident is because he was drunk the night of his death and went on a log and fell. In the text it says I figured it was Moose and Lefevre coming home drunk from camp three. Moose was intoxicated the night of his death which makes him clumsy and wobbly. It would be like driving drunk it s just as likely it even more likely he would fall of a log in the river as he would get into an accident. Also in the story it says, One day in the fall I will go to the ravine and see how the headline was making it. It still shocking to think that Maddon, who had been sure footed as a chipmunk, and our best log rolling contest, had fallen to his death the way he had. Moose Lilly thought he would be able to walk on the logs because he was one of the best at it. But since he was drunk he would be wobbly and his balance would be off so he fell into the ravine. ... • 6. Design Features Of The School Furniture and the measurements and design features of the school furniture they use (Yeats, 1997; Panagiotopoulou et al., 2004). As we noted earlier, furniture has a significant effect on human health. Thus, it is essential to use anthropometric data to guide the design of school desks and chairs. However, because anthropometric measures vary among nations and ethnic groups and change over time as populations and their environmental conditions change. As a result, the anthropometric data used in the design of the equipment used in Turkish higher education are based on anthropometric data from other countries and thus do not represent the average body measurements of the Turkish people (Kayis, 1988; Turgut et al., 2004). 2.1 ERGONOMICS AND BRANCHES Ergonomics permeates every aspect of human endeavor. • 8. The Tort Of Negligence Developed A tort might be stated as a civil wrong not happening out of a contract or a relationship created on trust, which is considered by a harm of the legal right preserved on others and an act for repressible damages. Therefore the objective of torts is toward recompense the victim and not penalizes the wrong person. Before we start a ride into in what way tort lawoperates it would be sensible to know the nature of the torts committed and their growths over the years. This would not lone help in considerate the current situation in a clearer manner but can also deliver a logic of history about torts. During the early primary 1800 s the tort of negligence developed as a single type of torts owed to the fact that events in the tort of negligence were growing suggestively throughout that period. Then, the awareness of the imposition of a duty of care in negligence developed alongside cases such as Heaven v Pender (1883), and extra outstandingly case of Donoghue v Stevenson (1932) that remains the leading case in negligence. This case clarifies that; Mrs Donoghue and her pal went to a cafe in Paisley. At the cafe, Mrs Donoghues pal purchased her a drink which was a ginger beer float consisting of ginger beer that stood in an cloudy bottle. After Mrs Donoghue drank out of the drink in a beer cup, her pal topped up the drink, and then they found in the ginger beer bottle decomposed leftovers of a snail. Essay on Determination of the Rate Constant Determination of the Rate Constant for a Chemical Reaction Department of Chemistry Abstract This experiment was performed to determine the rate constant k, for hydrolysis of tertiary butyl chloride to tertiary butanol. The solvent system for this reaction is 45% isopropyl alcohol and 55% water. The rate of hydrolysis of t butyl chloride is measured by the decrease in the concentration of this reagent with time. The rate of decomposition of t butyl chloride must be equal to the rate of formation of hydrochloric acid. The rate of hydrochloric acid formation was measured by titrating the acid produced with a base, NaOH. The lab instructor added exactly 1.00 mL of the t butyl chloride to the flask. The reaction began on this addition and the hydrochloric acid began to produce. This was time zero and the stopwatch was started. The contents of the flask were swirled to facilitate the mixing and 2 mL of the 0.25 M sodium hydroxide was added expeditiously. The exact amount of sodium hydroxide solution added to the flask was recorded and the solution turned pink. The pink color produced when sodium hydroxide was added, eventually faded due to the production of hydrochloric acid. The time that had elapsed from the zero time of the t butyl chloride addition to the color fade was recorded as well as the temperature. 2 mL of sodium hydroxide was added in increments and the times and temperature for the color changes was recorded for approximately 10 additions. At the end of the titrations the contents of the flask were kept and a stopper was placed on the flask and placed in the locker to titrate the excess HCl produced at the next lab. The initial concentration of t butyl chloride was calculated after the reaction had gone to completion. The number of moles of t butyl chloride present in the solution before the reaction is the total number of moles of t butyl chloride added. This quantity is equal to the total moles of HCl produced after the reaction had gone to completion. The total moles of HCl were measured by titrating with sodium hydroxide ... • 11. Implementing A Successful Cross Training Program Essay CREATING AND IMPLEMENTING A SUCCESSFUL CROSS TRAINING PROGRAMBefore developing a cross training program, we need to plan accordingly. Not all employees need to be trained in all positions. We need to cross train a little at a time as there is no need to cross train all our employees at the same time. I suggest creating a formal job rotation program. We could reduce the workload during the training process since it will take the new person longer to perform the task until their individual proficiency is reached. This reduced workload will help employees feel less resentful that they are being required to do more work. Lastly, we must remember that employees don t retain the cross training skills forever and must be re trained periodically. The following questions need to be addressed: How will we communicate the strategy to employees; especially those employees who for various reasons may not be the best fit for cross training? What are the positions within the organization should be targeted for a cross training initiative? Which employees are ready to be cross trained and how will we determine who will be cross trained? In order to answer these questions, we must examine the following.Communication. We need to introduce to the employees the benefits of cross training. Explain to them that will be learning new skills that can help them grow. The Roman Empire was not known for being just another city or empire but it was known for its strength, power and victories in the times of conflict and wars. The authority given to the archbishops made the most significant bishops throughout all the empire. The archbishops were spread all throughout the land including Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Jerusalem and Antioch but the issue in this situation was that the east contained four out of the five archbishops while the west simply had one archbishop, so there was not equal balance to both sides. • 14. Southwest Airlines Tribulations Essay Southwest Airlines has faced many tribulations in its short history. From beating out the competition of well established airlines to creating one of the most successful airlines in U.S. aviation history, Southwest has always had a roadblock. Its first major roadblock was airline regulation. Southwest particularly wanted to deregulate the airline industry so that it could expand, and participate in interstate commerce. Regulation of the airline industry, in its plainest sense, was against the most basic American business principle: capitalism. Southwest fought for deregulation and through the work of many other parties, the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 was signed into law by President Carter. Southwest s first major hurdle was behind them, but little did they know that its next was right around the corner. On January 13, 1974, the new Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) became operational. With its new design, massive runways, and terminals, DFW quickly became the poster child of the metropolitan area. DFW swiftly overshadowed Dallas Love Field(DAL), reducing traffic from 7 million in 1973 to just 500,000 in 1974 (CITATION). Many airlines relocated from DAL to DFW; however, this was not enough for Jim Wright, the Democratic, U.S. Representative for the Fort Worth area.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is significant that eleos appears six times in Gospel of Luke, also known as, the Gospel of Mercy . Compassion is a powerful awareness of concern for other s suffering and feeling sympathy. While mercy is the exercised virtue of forgiving, founded on compassion. Simply, mercy is putting the emotional connection of sympathy or pity of others into action. These Catholic virtues are especially highlighted within the Catholic Church s current teaching amid our 2016 Jubilee Year of Mercy (8th December 2015 to 20th November 2016). Pope Francis calls Catholic all over the world to bring Jesus mission here on Earth. to bring a word and gesture of consolation to the poor, to proclaim liberty to those bound by new forms of slavery in modern society, to restore sight to those who can see no more because they are caught in themselves, to restore dignity to all those from whom it has been robbed. (n.16) The Gospel of Luke thoroughly illustrates the themes of mercy and compassion in his use of literary devices such as symbols, stories and parables. Luke urges how significant it is to feel and deliver the ready willingness to help anyone in need in our society. The Gospel offers a model to live out these virtues through Jesus actions and his parables. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bosman also took legal action against UEFA, the European Football Association, to the European Court of Justice in an attempt to invalidate UEFA s gentlemen s agreement . The gentlemen s agreement, also known as the 3 plus 2 rule, allowed domestic leagues to set their own maximum number of foreign players that a particular club could have. The 3 plus 2 rule states that only three foreign players and two foreign players who had been in the country for more than five years could play on the field at the same time for a club in domestic matches. In April 1992, the Belgian Court of Justice declared no legal consequences for the suit, so Bosman decided to drop the charges against his club and the Belgian league in order to develop a new claim against UEFA. This policy report will identify and discuss the evidence towards the key aspects of the relationship between abuse and neglect and the greater economic hardship which will have an impact on poverty and how this affects the chance of a child being abused or neglected. Looking at the evidence it is clear to see that there is a strong link associated between poverty and a child suffering from abuse and neglect. Introduction and context According to NSPCC there are more than 50,000 children in the UK are abused and neglected annually, this estimates that there are 8 children suffering abuse for every one child that is identified. This is a strong link between socio economic circumstances of families and the chances of the child experiencing abuse and neglect. This association extends across all developed countries, different types of abuse and culture variation depending on the culture however definitions and research methods deem equal to both poverty and child protection systems. The families socio economic circumstances affect the relationship across the whole of society and not just a simple divide of poverty. This then has a poor outcome in relation to the child s inequalities to health and education and provides a link between the likelihood of abuse and neglect with the greater economic hardship. Creationists believe it was an intelligent designer, namely, God; evolutionists believe it was a driving force of nature, namely, natural selection. Natural selection works when life forms with advantageous survival traits live long enough to breed, therefore passing on those traits to the next generation. Life forms with weaker traits die before breeding, and therefore disappear from the gene pool. Genetic diversity results in slight variations of these hereditary traits from generation to generation, which allows a species to adapt to the changing demands of a changing environment. This results in a suitability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem is one of choosing the correct analogy. He pointed out that the universe more resembles a living organism than a mechanical watch which indicates that the universe must have started as a fetus in a cosmic womb! Other scholars also lampooned Paley s argument; Voltaire argued that noses must have been designed to hold up glasses, and that bunny rabbits must have been given white tails so they could be easier to shoot. The idea of design was so thoroughly and effectively ridiculed that theologians of the time actually stopped using it as an argument, although, curiously enough, it would resurface in the 20th century. Darwin essentially agreed that life had been designed, although not necessarily by the designer that Paley evoked. Darwin s advance on the argument was that the designer did not have to be an intelligent being, but could also be a driving force of nature. Consider the example of horse breeding. A rancher can select any trait among his horses that he would like to emphasize for example, small size. By breeding his smallest horses together, he will eventually obtain a line of miniature horses. Evolutionists cite this as proof that species can change as a result of selective breeding. Creationists respond quite rightly that the process needs a designer, in this case the rancher. But evolutionists point out that the same process happens in nature. • 29. A Leg Stand On By Oliver Sacks A Leg to Stand On, by Oliver Sacks, is a book about Sacks himself. Sacks depicts the story of his self induced disability, and the mental/physical barriers he faced within recovery, and acceptance. Sacks broke down this process into seven steps: the mountain, becoming a patient, limbo, quickening, Solvitur Ambulando, convalescence, and understanding. Along with the physical and mental barriers he faced, there were many macro/micro contextual level issues throughout the book. These issues included problems with his doctors, with his self identification, and body ego. Sacks grew up as an athletic individual, his health being a main priority throughout his life. He talks about how he grew up valuing his physical health more than anything, appreciating what hid body could do and using it to its fullest advantage. Within his physical training, he trained to climb a mountain called Hardanger Fjord. While climbing this mountain he expressed how his body was an instrument in which he played and used to create the music of his physical endurance. When he was reaching the peak of the mountain, he encountered a sign warning him of dangerous bulls on the mountain. Him thinking he was a superior being and superior to this warning, he continued his hike despite the warning. Uncle Tom s Cabin, By Harriet Beecher Stowe One hundred years after Harriet Beecher Stowe published Uncle Tom s Cabin in 1852, the poet Langston Hughes called the novel, the most cussed and discussed book of its time. Hughes s observation is particularly apt in that it avoids any mention of the novel s literary merit. George Orwell famously called it the best bad book of the age. Uncle Tom s Cabin is arguably no Pride and Prejudice or Scarlet Letter. Leo Tolstoy is one of the few critics who praise it unabashedly, calling Uncle Tom s Cabin a model of the highest type of art because it flowed from love of God and man. So why has it been called a verbal earthquake, an ink and paper tidal wave ? How and why has it been so influential? Uncle Tom s Cabin, or Life among the Lowly is at heart a typical nineteenth century melodrama of cruelty, suffering, religious devotion, broken homes, and improbable reunions. The plot in brief: the slave Uncle Tom is sold away from his cabin and family on the Shelby plantation in Kentucky; he serves the St. Clare family in Louisiana, from which he is sold after the death of Eva and her father; he lands at the Legree plantation on the Red River where he is whipped to death rather than betray two runaway slaves. Bm2 Welch Leadership 1.One thing I did not expect as a young man is that during my journey in the Coast Guard, whether 4 years or 30, that I would have the privilege to meet some great leaders. As though a higher power was at work, I usually had the proper leadership for the stage I was at in my career. BM2 Welch was rough around the edges and a stickler for detail. I was still new to the Coast Guard and needed a firm hand BM2 provided. He gave me direction. I learned from BM2 that working hard at every task thrown at someone is essential to be a good shipmate. As a brand new petty officer, BMC Jeff Reed showed me how to hold other people accountable. He never reprimanded me in public, and after every strict talking, he gave me a pathway to resolve the situation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I never really understood how to deal with humility, until BM1 Marquardt demonstrated it to me. He was arrogant and hard to work for and not well liked regardless of pay grade. That changed after the Commanding Officer revoked his coxswain qualifications. The very first thing he did was except ownership and vowed to use this as an opportunity to improve. There was no self pity or a carelessness attitude; he stayed true to his word. Working with the same people he qualified, his recertification was completed in a timely manner. He didn t become just a better coxswain, he became a better leader who gain the respect of all the people who had enough of his previous attitude. Rob Marquardt taught me the importance of humility and how to improve from failure. With previous election seasons, the current primary season has already seen some notable in fighting within the two major political parties, with potential candidates attacking each other in an attempt to get their party nominated. What is very interesting is how fluctuating the support for a candidate can be during the primary season. For example, Republican Donald Trump once had a formable lead over the next contender Hillary Clinton. In the democratic field, the top three candidates were Hillary Clinton , Bernie Sanders, and Martin O Malley. Out of all of the republican candidates Donald Trump is easily most polarizing. People either really love or really hate the businessman, who isn t afraid to speak his mind.[2] Trump has no experience in politics, but does have the experience as a businessman. Trump s stance on the issues taking place is difficult to determine, not because he hasn t made an issue statement but because he has made to many issue statements and has, in fact, been a member of both political parties in previous years. The reasoning used for this statement is due to the belief that death only applies to the physical body, and not of the soul. This highly suggests that the physical body becomes insignificant, meaning that there is no real point in its preservation. • 40. Harry S Truman Dbq Harry S. Truman On 8th of January 1947, at Harry S. Truman s first economic report as president to the congress of the United Sates, he said, America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand , but little did Truman know that these beliefs of his would become misunderstood and critiqued by the masses in coming times. When Harry S. Truman left the presidency in January 1953, he was one of the most unpopular politicians in the United States. However, this is unjustified as he was a real democrat for the people and was an honest president. Furthermore, he did not make many poor discussions nor was he inadequate leader, yet he got undeserved and bias criticism by the people of the United States. Truman continually faced tough challenges and had to pick up from where Franklin D. Roosevelt s unanticipated death left the nation in a mess. He was the Commander in Chief of the United States military during the final months of World War II. Under his command, the U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, effectively ending the war. Despite this, there are several negative social interactions that occur everyday. She seems to be suggesting that people should only be positive. White Noise By Don Delillo Essay Don DeLillo throughout White Noise confirms through his characters that the individual is capable of expressing feelings instantaneously, but for the most part are calculated in their actions, and give off a faГ§ade. With the vast use of characters, from Jack Gladney to the nun, we can take a closer look at the individuals in the world filled with white noise. There is truly the possibility for human kind to be honest down to the bone, for instance what Gladney expresses love for his children, even the stepchildren. Although this possibility is true, people still talk and do things against their emotions, or preference. People take on facades, and take part in the things they don t believe in order to find an identity of their own. This identity crisis is enhanced by societal factors, and the influence of media with technology. Thus mankind in White Noise is incapable of expressing their true selves, without conflicting with their external image. It boils down to this, the emotions of the individuals are very much true, but are not surfaced, rather they hide behind an image that is displayed to keep the people around them content. Once the image is erased, or no longer relevant, then the character becomes insignificant. Thus all that exists for the society of White Noise is what we are incredulous of, that becomes their reality. Weapons of mass destruction, or WMD, provides a fundamental problem for governments and other organizations such as hospitals and schools. To begin, what are weapons of mass destruction? Weapons of mass destruction (WMD) is, on the face of it, a straightforward designation. The term is generally accepted to mean munitions whose destructive attributes come from fission or fusion reactions, biological agents, or chemical weapons (Grove 2014). Cryptosporidium species are intestinal protozoan parasites with a worldwide distribution, responsible for diarrheal disease in a large number of vertebrate hosts including humans, and zoonotic infection has long been acknowledged, as it is life threatening in immunocompromised patients (Current et al., 1983). The disease has a faecal oral cycle, occurring with the ingestion of infecting oocystes, which have environmental resistance. Separate anthroponotic and zoonotic transmission cycles have been identified (Casemore and Jackson, 1984) and infection is maintained by several routes: direct person to person transmission, animal to person contact either directly or indirectly and by ingestion of contaminated food, fomites and especially drinking and recreational water (Atherton et al., 1995; Casemore, 1990; Gallaher et al., 1989; Joce et al., 1991; Meinhardt et al., 1996). • 49. Charles Darwin s Influence Of Evolution On The Galapagos... Evolution is a theory that is supported with evidence that characteristics of living organisms change over generations. A species can change over time and may even split into two new species through a process called Speciation. Each new species adapts to its new environment through adaptability. This is the ability of an organism to change its physical and chemical nature to adjust to its surroundings. For example, adaptive radiation is a form of evolutionthat Charles Darwinhad discovered. He observed the different species of finches on the Galapagos Islands. There are at least 13 species of finches, and each has developed a different shaped beak, a thin beak for those who ate insects, and a thicker beak for those species that ate large seeds.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another influence is mutation. Mutation is a source of variation. This variation can be helpful in survival for an organism. Mutations are the changes that occur in the DNA. A single DNA mutation can have a large effect, but in the case of evolutionary change, this variation is based on the gathering of many different mutations. Another form of mutation can occur within the same species is through isolation. If a tsunami breaks out and causes a separation in wild life, one of the species can be affected with a mutation, causing a change in species, while the other doesn t get affected. Darwin s findings on Galapagos Islands are perfect examples that demonstrate the effects that isolations and mutations (including environmental changes) have on species. Environmental changes ties into the influences of evolution. An organism can change its physical and chemical nature to adjust to its surrounding. Over time, a certain species will die out due to lack of survival in the environment, and a new species will evolve. Environmental change also forces the organism to adapt to the new environment. For example, if a species is limited to eating a certain type of plant, and a change occurs, like a mold breaks out and kills most of it, that species has to either evolve to engulf the fungus, or find something else to ... Narrative voice can be defined as the eyes the reader sees a story through. This is separated into three distinct types: first, second and third person. This idea is also expressed through the fact that the language is factual, observational and unemotional, conveying the emotional detachment of the terrorist towards the pain and suffering he will inflict. The use of language in this is vastly different to that of Lot s Wife with the contrast of emotional language and factual language. The descriptions of the individuals are detached with mundane characteristics, such as the crummy gloves (26), only being mentioned. This creates the sense that these individuals are less important than him, showing that the terrorist looks down on them.
