The University Of Wisconsin Madison
Overview of the college University of Wisconsin Madison was founded way back in 1848, but
didn t have their first class until February 1849. With more than 400,000 living alumni UW
Madison has proven to be successful with providing educational opportunities to multiple students
for many years. Introduction of the college UW Madison is a State University. This means the
school is a state funded institution with a campus located in that state. UW Madison currently has
over 40,000 students enrolled in their school. It also has over 2,000 faculty members. UW Madison

For a non resident the total would be around $41,366. Parking on campus is $265 for an all year
parking permit. If i were to ask a UW Madison admissions counselor a few questions i would ask
the following: What is the best way to prepare for your school? What unique programs are
incorporated into your schools curriculum? Choice of MajorThe major i would choose if I attend
this college would be Zoology. I would choose this major because Zoology is the study of all
animals, and would help me further understand the world of animals on a scientific level. It
would also help me get into Vet School after undergraduate school. Zoology has one of the best
placement records for premedical students. As i said in the last paragraph Zoology is the study
of all animals. High school students who are planning to major in Zoology are highly
encouraged to take as many science and math classes as possible. Zoologists need a variety of
skills to be successful on the field. They need to be able to apply scientific rules and methods to
solve problems. Zoologists must be able to think critically or use reason to draw conclusions from
different test results and scientific observations. Zoologists also must have excellent
communication skills for presenting their finding to their colleagues, managers, and to the general
public. Last but certainly not least Zoologists must be in good physical shape

Marilyn Monroe Emotional Issues
One of the things a woman wants most in this world is for someone to relate and/or understand
her. Ever since I can remember, I ve had that one person to look up to that I felt could relate to me.
As long as I can remember, that person was Marilyn Monroe. At about the age of 5, I saw her face
on the television screen and by about the age of 12 years old, I was researching all I could about
her. The more I learned about her, the more my love grew for her and the more I knew she would
understand me if she were here today. Marilyn Monroewas an iconic celebrity but also very
relatable to the average woman who deals things such as tough emotional issues, harsh body image
problems and having a hard time trusting people or building relationships.
Everyone has issues that we deal with; we re only human, right? The emotional issues we deal
with daily can be anger, sadness, depression, etc. Marilyn dealt with these emotions as much as
anyone else, but there was a time she had said, I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am
human . She understood that as a human being, we all have emotional problems, but it s how
one deals with their emotions that matters. These emotional issues can stem from many different
situations or moments in our life. Dealing with a bully in school, an abusive parent or whatever
it may be, can cause these issues. Unfortunately, Marilyn had to deal with emotional issues
stemming form the relationship with her mother. One of Marilyn s family members was quoted
saying: Gladys didn t hug, kiss or smile, Marilyn s niece, Mona Rae Miracle, exclusively tells
Closer. She was delusional, and she heard voices from electrical appliances. She was antisocial
and unable to express any emotion, except anger . Marilyn s mother s inability to feel or express
emotions was of no benefit to the growth of an impressionable girl such as Marilyn. Marilyn
unfortunately paid dearly from this and grew up battling her emotions all of the time. So, knowing
what we ve learned so far, there s no doubt that Marilyn Monroe dealt with the same kind of
problems your average jane deals with.
Emotional issues wouldn t be the only way for Marilyn to relate to us average Janes these days,
because she

Anubis In Ancient Egypt
In very ancient Egyptian history, Anubis was once called Duat and was the supreme ruler of the
underworld, until the myths of Osiris, the weird green dude, came by and stole that from him. Kind
ve unfair, since this pickle guy just straight up stole Anubis s place as ruler.
Anubis was reassigned to God of Embalming , which is just depressing. In ancient Egypt, Anubis is
being represented by priests wearing masks of jackals, as a tribute to Anubis while mummifying
corpses. And, this leads me to another fact about Anubis, his jackal head. The reason this exists is
because jackals were commonly found in cemeteries, and the people of ancient Egypt thought they
were protecting the dead bodies, so, as time went on (only like 9 years lets just

Introduction
A self directed workforce is where the employees manage themselves and can perform multiple
tasks. No need for a lot of middle management, because the employees will manage each other and
themselves. A company like PPG wanted to implement a self directed workforce because it saves
them money in the long run. The workers union in a non self directed workforce gave them
headaches. The workers were only allowed to perform one job task. It prevented them from
working efficiently. If a machine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At least the technicians in this case would also be responsible for problem solving duties, thus
giving him more responsibility, more opportunities, and possible intrinsic rewards. Since everyone
is a technician, I bet they would have more of a team atmosphere. Everyone would be equally
responsible for a project. Plus, everyone would have opportunities become senior technicians over
time. This resentment is also partially due to the hiring process.
If the supporters were really self motivated, then they would consistently ask to be taught something
they don t know.

Coordinators worrying about working themselves out of a job:
Similar to Kerr s motivation problem, Kerr had several examples where a motivation leads to a
negative or oppositely intended action. They need to be assured that their job is secure. The
plant has a finite size, so there will need to be a finite number of coordinators. Have that number
be guaranteed so no coordinators will be let go. Make sure coordinators train a certain number of
people every day/week/month. That ll help them secure their job. Plus, get rewards for training.
Let them know, there s always room for improvement. There are an infinite number of projects that
need to be coordinated all of the time. 360 degree evaluation process might work here.

Walmart and the Elements of Business
Walmart and the Elements of Its Business
Molly Taylor
American Intercontinental University
Walmart and the Elements of Its Business The history of Walmart is quite interesting and goes
all the way back to the 1960 s. Walmart was started by a man named Sam Walton and his brother.
Mr. Walton had a degree in economics and used this degree to secure a management trainee
position at JC Penny s. With his degree and experience he gained working at JC Penny s he, along
with his brother, opened a Ben Franklin store. By the late 50 s they owned 9 Ben Franklin
franchises.

It has been said in the recent past that Walmart says they treat their employees well but there have
been cases recently where this was found not to be true unfortunately.
Treating employees unfairly could have a negative economic impact on the community because if
workers aren t treated fairly then no one wants to work for the company that s not treating their
employees well. Which then has a domino effect because chances are, if that s the case, then
people will begin to bash Walmart driving consumers away to possibly purchase from other
retailers. This would not be a positive economic environment at all and the chances of the business
failing would be pretty good.
To best maintain a thriving legal, social and economical environment Walmart needs to have in
place a good management structure and for the most part I think they do. If they didn t they
would not have risen to be one of the largest retailers in the world over the past almost 50 years.
They have a company wide management structure that all stores abide by. This structure includes
planning and promotions, goal setting amongst employees, organizing how operations flow on a
day to day basis, directing its employees and controlling finances. In order to operate Walmart has
to provide services to consumers and make a profit off providing these services. To do that
Walmart must constantly stay on top of how the stores are run on a daily basis. To operate a
business and be

Dependent Personality Disorder Case Study
Individuals with this disorder are usually needy for attention, social contact, and appraisement. This
should not be confused with dependent personality style, which is healthy . Dependent personality
disorder is a pathological version of the dependent personality style. It occurs after a triggering
event and is a maladaptive response. Those with dependent personality disorderhave submissive
personalities, try to minimize difficulties, think uncritically, and in turn are susceptible to
suggestibility. They look for a great deal of advice. In relationships, their behavior is self
sacrificing and constantly requires the reassurance of others, leading to subtle reliance for others
to take responsibility in major areas of their life. They have problems starting tasks and sticking to
them on their own, but are able to do this for others if assigned to them. Because of these attributes,
they avoid positions of leadership. Their emotional style is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Hitler Youth Analysis
Moving away from the window, the young man walked toward a school desk, the only furniture
present in the room. He left a glass soda bottle, labelled Eagle s Flight , on top of it. Just as he
picked up the bottle, two teenagers, a boy and a girl, entered the room. The boy wore the winter
uniform of the Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth), the national youth movement of the German Reich. His
female accomplice, dressed in the winter uniform of the Hitler Youth s female wing, the Bund
Deutscher Mädel. They even carried handguns holstered around their hips.
After closing the door, the two saluted the young man, their right arms high above their shoulders.
Heil dir, Harold der kluger Mann Brotzman (Hail to thee, Harold the Wise Man Brotzman), they
chanted in unison.
Likewise, Harold saluted them in a similar manner. Ja, heil unser Deutschland (Yes, hail our
Germany), he responded. Kept you two waiting, huh? I ve been waiting here for the past several
hours!

Live Your Own Life In Two Kinds By Amy Tan
Live Your Own Life
Two kinds by Amy Tan is a short story that you could pull many themes from. The main and most
obvious theme I pulled from the story is that everyone is responsible to choose their future.
My mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in America (Tan 49). This quote
shows you the confidence her mother had when it came to doing something you believed in while
you were in the United States. This idea is important because her mom thought she could make her
daughter into anything because they lived in the United States and many other people have been
successful in the United States too. Two or three months went by without any mention of my being
a prodigy. And then one day my mother was watching the Ed Sullivan

Going To Theatre
In a time when films and a variety of entertainments are accessible through digital forms, some
people may still go see the performances of live theatre п»їп»їп»їjust п»їп»їfor the experience.
Like the textbook mentions, theatre is living, and each performance is unique to the moment.
Because individuals who regularly go to theatreperformances are much fewer than those who
would rather see a movie, theatre helps establish an identity that sets the theatre goers apart from
the rest and creates a community that unites people who share similar tastes in art. Although in the
past, theatre has been widely seen by people of all income levels, in today s society, someone who
regularly goes to the theatre is stereotypically associated with a prestigious background and a
traditional taste in art. In this sense, going to theatre can be a display of social status. A more
important reason is that theatre offers an opportunity for the audienceto interact with the performers
on the stage. This makes the audience feel involved and the performance more compelling than one
that is on digital media. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Similarities Between Anna Karenina And Out Of Africa
Anna Karenina and Out of Africa are two films that can be compared to a roller coaster ride at a
carnival. A roller coaster ride excites and thrills us but at the very same time we feel anxiety and
fear. The roller coaster rises, falls, twists and turns. This defines the journey of the characters as
they embark upon their travels which are filled with peaks of joy and valleys of heartache, sorrow
and death. The characters are vulnerable and impressionable as they face the dangers of adultery,
self discovery and feministic resistance. Perceptions, assumptions, fantasy and opinions are formed
by the characters as they embark on their roller coasterride. This adds to the intrigue and suspense
on their epic journey to uncover their inner truths.
The world is a stage as the aristocratic lives of the characters is showcased in the stylised film Anna
Karenina . This theatrical rendition creates a dreamlike falseness that is superficial and unreal. ...

This thematic resistance to colonial views is exposed by Pollock as he uses the pen and compass
given by Denys to Karen as a symbolic gesture to emphasise that Denys believes that Karen is an
equal to him and that she has the power to write her own story. Ironically, Karen restores Africato
its former beauty through the use of the pen, compass and her imagination.
When the Karen flies in a plane, she compares looking down to looking through the eyes of God
and her instilled passion for Africa. The natural lighting used in this scene engulfs the simplicity of
the unmodernized world. Flying eptiomises Karen s freedom in a male dominated society and

Karen and Denys desired. Their love story was naГЇve and idealistic. Denys true counterparts are

Summary Of Slavery Without Submission
With reference to chapter 8 and 9 of Zinn s book: Slavery without Submission , Emancipation
without freedom in A People s History of the United States, It was clearly established that that the
Civil War was not really fought over the moral issue of slavery, but rather the economic issue of
slavery. To reveal these American intentions behind the abolition of slavery, Zinn focuses on the
Civil War which usually thought of as the paramount event in U.S. emancipation. After reviewing a
few slave revolts and their defeats, he turns to focus on Abraham Lincolnand his ability to skillfully
blend the interests of the very rich and the interests of the black at a moment in history when these
interests met.

The War Of The American War
The year was 1898, and America had just finished fighting Spain in Cuba and the Philippines. Spain
had been in control of the islands, but when they islands wanted their independence America
volunteered to help. America promoted the islands fighting back, and were encouraging the
revolution against Spain. Little did these nations know that once Spain had lost, America got signed
over everything in the Treaty of Paris, and they did not plan to let these premiere locations go
without another fight. We wanted the Philippines for three main reasons: missionaries wanted to
spread Christianityand the word of God, we couldn t leave them to govern themselves because
they were unfit, as well as business leaders wanted a way to easily become immersed in the vast
markets of China. So in February of 1899, America found themselves in another bloody war,
known only as the Philippine American War. Throughout the history of America, there has
always been the belief of the white mans burden . This means that it is the responsibility of white
people to find and save non white people from themselves by forcing our culture and governing
upon them. Through this practice, we believe we are helping and improving the lives of the poor
and unfortunate people of the world. One large aspect of this is to bring and teach the word of
God to the uncivilized people that do not have the opportunity to learn and experience about it for
themselves. President McKinley used the idea of evangelism to

Chicanos And The Liberal Agenda
Chicanos and the Liberal Agenda In the early sixties, when times were of segregation, racism and
discrimination, Chicanos often suffered the most. It was a dark time for Mexican Americans, who
were negatively referred as Chicanos . Chicanos did not always have the empowered meaning it has
today. In the early sixties, Chicanowas often used to refer to Mexican Americans as lower class,
ignorant and as a derogatory racial identification. Furthermore, racism, exploitation, inequality,
conformity and assimilation were all main factors of the early sixties liberal agenda. Chicanos
often faced numerous struggles as Mexican Americans were often exploited profoundly in the
workplace. Along with being exploited, Chicanos often face new threats like being fired, pay cuts,
and ultimately deportation due racism. Anglo societies were advanced due to the inequalities
Chicanos faced from education system and workplace. In addition, Chicanos who were proud to be
brown or embraced their culture, and practice their norms were often seen as outcast. The sixties
main focus of the liberal agenda was to conform the Mexican American. The liberal agenda attempt
to make Chicanos deny their culture and assimilate to the Anglo culture. However, Chicanos often

Josef Mengele tortured and killed many prisoners who stayed at Auschwitz in the worst, and

prisoners ( Rantings of a Nazi Monster 1 ). Other surgeries and experiments that Dr. Mengele

just perform experiments on adults, he also did it to children. Supposedly, in only one night,
Josef used injections and killed fourteen innocent children( Josef Mengele 3 ). To make it even

experiments on the prisoners that stood out to him, he was particularly interested in twins.
Mengele was so obsessed with twins that he oversaw gruesome tests on 3,000 sets ( Rantings of a

experiments were. A unlucky set of twins had to go through this odious experiment. The next part

were then ventilated with a gas which caused them to cough so severely they had to be restrained.
The sputum from the lungs was collected for examination ( Medical Experiments of the Holocaust

The Extent to Which the Principle of Sustainability Guides Land Use Policy Development
The idea of developing in such a way that the present can meet their needs without future
generations needs being compromised is not a new one. It has been practiced and continues to be
practiced by many groups of people across the world. For example, this principle is embedded in
Aboriginal beliefs that they come from the land, and must return to the land and so must be
custodians to the land. The Brundtland Commission, chaired by the Norwegian prime minister,

Limits to Growth [2] is a book that tried to explain how economic expansion must soon come to an
end , because of environmental limits. Our Common Future , the sequel to this book, starts from
essentially similar understandings of the nature of the economy environment interconnections, but
draws the conclusion that growth can and should continue, however, this growth would take a
different form from past growth, and should be sustainable.
By the start of the 1990s about three quarters of councils in England, Scotland and Wales already

was the degree to which central government began to give formal support to sustainable

relevant policies and legislation in response to international commitments. Sustainability is now one
of the UK governments key objectives. A commitment to national sustainability plans was a key

Why We Buy Underhill
In Underhill s book Why we buy , Underhill (2009) argued that in the US, customers walk
towards the right after entering the store entrance, so the front right portion would be the most
visited part of the store. Also, with a right hand dominance, the most convenient place to place a
product is on the right side when the customer is facing the shelf. With the same argument,
Underhill infers that in the UK and Australia, with a left hand dominance, the customer would
walk to the left after entering the store, so the front left portion of the store is most visited, and
the best place to put a product is on the left when the customer is facing the shelf. Putting myself
in the shoe of Gap about to open a store in London, I would test Underhill s hypothesis to see if it
is true. If Underhill is right, I would design the store to take advantage on the way people walk in
the UK, that is, towrds the left of the store, so that I can influence the buying decision of the UK

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Investment Bonds
In finance, bonds are an instrument of liability. The bond issuer owes the debt to the bond holders
and the holders owes the term of the bonds and can claim the principal once the maturity date
reached. Coupon can be paid at regular intervals such as semi annual, annual or monthly. Besides
that, the bondusually is negotiable which means that in secondary market, ownership of the
instrument can be transfer to other people. In the secondary market, bonds are highly liquid. This is
because the transfer agents have medallion stamp the bonds at the bank.
Therefore, a bonds is a form of loan or IOU (I Owe You). The lender (creditor) is the holder of

the company have opposed to liquidation.
There are some pros and cons of taking bonds as an investment instrument. The disadvantages of
investing bonds are interest rate risk. For example, fixed rate bond are taking risk when the
general common interest rate increase and their market prices will fall. Decrease in market price of

Child Labour And Its Effect On Children Essay
Child labour, in the Western tradition, evokes a negative connotations of dangerous work being
committed by children, and while child labour that causes physiological or psychological damage
to children, or inhibits their ability to gain an education is reprehensible, not all child labour is
detrimental. However, child work, which is difficult to differentiate from child labour, is an
acceptable even beneficial to the child and their family. This is especially true in agriculture.
However, certain industries should prohibit all children from working such as working

The Red Eyed Tree Frog is a lot more complex than it seems. It contains a third eye lid called the

Over-dependence on Technology Essay
Regina Fleck has an iPhone 7 and she admits, I no longer feel frustrated or impatient. That
emotion now manifests in me as a desire to check my e mail. (Tran). All around the world,
technology has taken over the lives of many, especially children. Each year younger children are
being introduced to new technologyto help them learn and grow, but the effects of this may be
different from what is expected. Rather than seeing growth, the overuse of technology is leading to
many issues, including a decline in creativity, less active lifestyles, and difficulty falling asleep. The
growing overdependence on and overuse of technology is affecting young children both mentally
and physically.

Also, the parents are the ones who are buying the games and the food that the children eat, so it
can t be blamed on the children. Others believe that the ads and commercials are nearly irresistible
to children, and parents are just trying to keep their children happy. Whatever the case, the major
cause of it is the technology (Browning).
Another source of the overdependence of technology in children is school. At school, they are
introduced to technology at a very young age, sometimes even in preschool. Children are
introduced to calculators at a very young age, helping them with math problems they should be
able to do in their heads. The teachers are encouraging it so the students don t take the time to
learn how to do it out and then struggle when they have no calculator. Also, children today are
proven to have much worse handwriting than in the past. They are now expected to type English
essays and in elementary school; many aren t taught cursive but rather how to use computers. For
example, in 2009, 97 percent of teachers had at least one computer in their room, and out of that, 93
percent of the computers were connected to the Internet (Gray, Thomas, Lewis). Intelligence is
continuously decreasing due to all of the shortcuts children now are able to take advantage of. In
some aspects, the advancements are really aiding students. They have almost any information they
can imagine wherever they go, just by going to Google. Typing is neat and

Age Of Empires
Age of Empires III (AoE III) was released in 2005 as the final installment to Microsoft s
Ensemble Studio s genre defining historical real time strategy (RTS) PC series. The game, like
its predecessors, of which the first was released in 1997, focuses on historical events and revolves
around two primary game modes: a campaign mode and a skirmish mode. For the most part,
although released six years after Age of Empires II (and three years after the spin off Age of
Mythology), gameplay remains the same with the old themes of base building, resource gathering,
and destruction of an enemy common throughout most RTS titles. Age of Empires, however, stands
apart from other RTS games because it achieves an unprecedented level of engagement and

In AoE III, a player can choose to play from a selection of seven European civilizations that were
prominent at periods of time during the Age of Exploration through the Industrial Revolution.
While general mechanics of the game are the same from civilization to civilization, their
strengths and weaknesses are rooted in historical fact. Take the French for example. Historically,
the French originally came to the New World as independent trappers and merchants who spread
across the wilderness (unlike other settlers who largely came as colonialists on behalf of their
respective crowns). They appropriately have the strongest settler units in the game, uniquely
titled Coureur des Bois or runners in the woods . They are more expensive than settlers of other
civilization, but they collect resources faster and are more resistant early attacks. As the French
age through in the game, their military strengths reflect the rise in military prominence the
French historically experienced initially under Kings Louis XII and XIV and later under
Napoleon Bonaparte, which were both supported by a backbone of heavy cavalry of gendarmes
and cuirassiers. Similarly, among a few of the other playable civilizations, the Dutch have the
unique ability to build banks to generate coin without having to mine for it, the British have the
strongest navy, and the Portuguese get a new town center with every age. The Ottomans, who are
also a playable civilization in AoE III, may seem like an odd addition to a game based primarily in
the New World, but its presence is one of the many ways Age of Empires subtly engages its player
in thinking more broadly about history. At the time when many Western European nations sought to
exploit trade in Asia (and ended up in the New World), they wanted to tap into what was the
Ottoman s market. Istanbul was the cultural and economic capital that

The Status Of The World s Women
The status of the world s women is not only a matter of morality and justice. It is also a political,
economic, and social imperative. The evidence is irrefutable: when women are free to develop their
talents and contribute fully to their societies, everyone benefits.
Hillary Clinton, 5/12/2010
Women are a large portion of the populace, almost 60% possess professional degrees, make up
47% of the workforce and represent 53% of voters. Despite the fact that they have broken every
barrier many times over, women occupy only 18% of the top management positions across the
world. While the representation of women in noteworthy positions of political and business sectors
has enhanced in some cases, (20 states have female Senators) the leadership pool is still male
dominated. The U.S. places 80th in the world when it comes to female representation in
authoritative positions, just ahead of countries that are openly criticized for their treatment of
women, like Iraq and Afghanistan. As of 2014, only 4.2% of CEO positions and under 17% of
board seats are held by ladies among Fortune 500 organizations.
Evidence across the region has shown that having more women in senior authority promotes
brilliance in areas of performance. Research demonstrates that organizations with more women in
power within governing bodies are more gainful and have higher profits for value. Having more
women with political authority brings about better choice and strategy making. Well taught women

This Sunday we will wrap up a sermon series called Storyline in which we have explored how the

This series has challenged me as I hope it has you. It has caused me to take a step by and examine
the many ways in which Jesus has showed up in the storyline of my life and has caused me to

This doesn t have a happy ending, does it?! she was catching on....
Mom! Like, this movie won OSCARS....it s seriously good.....you re going to love it....just watch!

An external applicant would not know of the debate and decision of deciding between the two
jobs offers. He or she would not know the social structure and the company. This would be a
positive benefit due to the fact that if Archer chooses one of the positions, either Kessel or
Mangini will have hard feelings towards Archer or the other party who she decided to take the
job. Mangini made the decision seem as a competition when he challenged Kessel to win Archer s
decision. Kessel should appeal emotionally to the benefits of the position to Archer. Kessel s
position is one that is a long term career move where she would have longevity with the company
with the opportunity to move upward within the organization. This position also gives her the
leadership opportunity that she desires, as well as nominal travel. She would be basically
stationary which would be very welcome to her after her long stint of extensive travel for
RetailMax. This case study allowed for a real possible situation in the realm of leadership. I was
able to analyze the situation with enough information to form an opinion, scenario and outcome for
Archer, Mangini and Kessel. I feel this was a touchy and difficult situation and the ultimate
decision was Archer s. This exercise allowed me to see how difficult some decisions are at the
highest level of leadership.

Organizations do need to consider geographic locations when preparing for backup operations or
datacenters. The effects of recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO)
help organizations make decisions such as where they should locate their secondary site and if
it is at enough distance from the primary site to ensure that if a natural disaster takes out one, it
won t take out the other. Ultimately, organizations need to know how fast their critical
operations can be back online before putting the business at serious risk. The recovery point

specifies how long an organization will need to recover. Organizations may have multiple RTOs

factors, particularly features of the text that the author has altered intentionally to evoke certain

First, Bruno Mars exhibits the extreme elongate to which he genuinely loves the girl in the song,
determined to persuade his audience that the girl should love him back. Mars uses words which
allude to violence, such as grenade , blade, and bullet to illustrate his deposition to experience
physical pain for the girl s affection. He constantly uses these words to indicate that these
destructive weapons will not hinder his obsessive love for her. In the chorus, his obsession with
the girl is made even more obvious because he proclaims that he would catch a grenade for her,
throw his hands on a blade for her, jump in front of a train for her, and take a bullet straight through
his brain. His eagerness to make such sacrifices is intentionally detailed in the chorus which,
through repetition, places emphasis on these phrases. These phrases or hyperboles integrate to Mars
ethos because they enhanced his character by disclosing his authentic commitment to sacrificing his
entire life for the girl. In turn, the ethos of credibility convinces the audience to take his side.

building the legitimacy of his own character, he utilizes pathos in order to persuade his audience

Anne Bradstreet And Judith Sargent Murray
In early America, women were expected to take care of the household and of the children. However,
writers such as Anne Bradstreet and Judith Sargent Murray wanted to emphasize the importance of
education for women. The two texts by these authors that will be discussed are the poem, The
Prologue by Anne Bradstreet and the essay, Desultory Thoughts upon the Utility of Encouraging a
Degree of Self Contemplacency, especially in Female Bosoms, By Judith Sargent Murray. A theme
seen prominently throughout both texts is fairer treatment of women through education. Although
both women do believe in opportunity for women in education, Bradstreet focuses more on the idea
that women should have more acceptance in the intellectual world by men while Murray however,
emphasizes the importance of women to be raised properly which resulted in them understanding
their self worth. Anne Bradstreet was born in 1612 as a Puritan. In Puritan culture education was
essential in order for one to be able to read and understand the Bible. This allowed Bradstreet to
be well educated in literature and history, particularly in Greek, Latin, French, Hebrew, as well as
English (Woodleif). Woodleif goes into detail discussing Bradstreet s education, explaining, She
read widely in history, science, and literature, especially the works of Guillame du Bartas, studying
her craft and gradually developing a confident poetic voice. Her intellectual education resulted in a

(Encyclopedia Britannica). Born on March 31, 1596, he was dubbed as the Father of Modern
Philosophy. His theory on the mindbody dualism, also known as Cartesian Dualism, created a stem
of the modern problem of the relationship between the mind and body. He created the early version
to further explain the interaction of the mind and body, to create a firm foundation that can be
explained through science and to prove the existence and goodness of God, and how the soulcould
be immortal.
Along with that, he mentioned that the mind is different from the body. One of the basic thesis of
his Cartesian Dualism is that a mental substance cannot have a physical form, and that said physical
form cannot have experiences , for the mind and body cannot function without the other (Chin Tai
Kim 337). In his Cartesian Dualism, RenГ© Descartes believes that every human being possesses
a body and mind (Nath 1). Though, there are some philosophers who might have agreed, disagreed
or criticized about his theory.
Philosophers such as Gilbert Ryle, critiqued about the Descartes Cartesian Dualism, for he believes

Heart Of Darkness
Heart of Darkness Self restraint may be alien to the human temperament, but humanity without
restraint will dig its own grave (Mannes). This quote by Marya Mannes creates a very accurate
picture of what a debacle man creates when casting away one s conscience, and indulging in the
flesh. The distinctions between right and wrong, in other words a conscience, are the basis of
Joseph Conrads book, Heart of Darkness. His book exemplifies the importance of living life
distanced from our natural and sinful desires. Furthermore, Conrad focuses his reader s attention on
the separation between animals and humans is a thin line called restraint. In sum, Conrad s novel
uses the literary elements of symbolism, character development, and setting... Show more content

For example, the contrast between light and dark a chimerical form of symbolism that paints an
adroit picture of the underlying truth of The Heart of Darkness. A perfect portrayal of the light
and dark emphasis in the book is on page 21 when Marlow describes a painting by saying, Then I
noticed a small scotch in oils, on a panel, representing a woman draped and blindfolded, carrying a
lighted torch (Conrad 21). This woman represents the Europeans being blind to the truth of what is
going on in the Congo, and her torch is the truth that the blindfold is blocking. Marlow is like that
woman, he came into the Congo believing a lie that he was brutally faced with, and ultimately falls
victim to following. Additionally, Marlow, who was once morally upright, had been transformed
into the very thing that he abhorred, and ultimately gives into his fleshy desire and abandoning his
conscience. Another example of symbolism is when the chief accountant is described as, a white
man in such an unexpected elegance...starched collar, white cuffs, white alpaca jacket, snowy
trousers (Conrad 15). Because of his white washed appearance in such a dark and horrible place, it
symbolizes the hypocrisy of the men of the company. Furthermore, They, on the outside, claim to be
these amazing and aesthetic people showing altruism for

Character Analysis Of Mr. Wills
Will J. The Taste of Melon: Mr. Wills Character Analysis Nov. 17 2017 In The Taste of Melon by
Borden Deal, the character of Mr. Wills is written as a round/complex character. Mr. Wills exhibits
three main traits throughout the story, and those traits do not change. First is his success as a
farmer, second is his emotional personality, and third is his intimidating and frightening demeanor
and reputation. While it may be easy to say that Mr. Wills is a dynamic character, his core traits
never changeat any point in the plot. Only the way he is perceived by other characters changes.
The first main character trait of Mr. Wills is his success as a farmer. During the exposition of the
plot as the narrator is introducing all of its characters, he says Mr. Wills was the best farmer in
the community. (Deal, 131) as if it was common knowledge. The narrator s father chimes in
when he says ...that he could drive a stick into the ground and grow a tree out of it. (Deal, 131)
Mr. Wills appears to show his technical proficiency in farming best when he is growing
watermelons. As the narrator put it; Other men, like Mr. Wills, can throw some seed on the
ground, scuff some dirt over it, walk off and leave it. And they ll have a crop of the prettiest,
biggest melons you ever saw. (Deal, 131) This trait did not change during the story; never was it
revealed that Mr. Wills was putting fake watermelons in his patch, or that he was importing prize
melon seeds. From what is shown in the story Mr. Wills is just a talented man.
The second main character trait of Mr. Wills are his volatile emotions. Beside the obvious
examples of him simply showing anger, such as When he plowed his fields you could hear him
yelling for a mile. (Deal, Pg. 131) There is also the example of him performing actions out of
anger and then regretting them later. Then I saw it, he was destroying every melon in the patch!
(Deal, Pg. 137), and You ruined the half of it, and I ruined the other. (Deal, Pg. 140) These quotes
show that Mr. Wills has a tendency to act brashly and then regret it. This is a trait that does not
change through the story, instead it is fully revealed near the end during the resolution of the plot

Sir Thomas Mun s Theory Of Mercantilism
Sir Thomas Mun (1571 1641), a famous economic thinker from the sixteenth century, was most
closely associated with the idea of Mercantilism. This school of thought mainly focused on
international trade and the balance of trade through acquisition of silver and gold. Thomas Mun
achieved many accomplishments in his 70 years of life; most notably, his role as the Director of the
East India Company, publishing books and pamphlets on his theory of mercantilism, molding
England s trade policies to maximize the nation s wealth, and further setting a precedent for
international tradethat many countries thereafter followed. When Thomas Mun first introduced
his idea of foreign trade, it was during a time of an economic downfall in England. Many people
believed that the East India Company was to blame because they had financed their trade by
exporting a large amount of bullion in order to purchase spices (Walter,1). When accusations arose
of his company being at fault for the trade imbalance in England, Mun s defense strategy involved
informing the citizens of the country about the benefits of international trade to increase England s
wealth. Mun wrote a pamphlet, A Discourse of Trade, from England unto the East Indies, to
explain why his company had chosen to be a participant of trade. Mun explained that if the
company had chosen to deter from the trading of bullion for spices, England would have actually
been at more of disadvantage economically. The reason for this, is that

What unique programs are incorporated into your schools curriculum? Choice of MajorThe major i would choose if I attend this college would be Zoology. I would choose this major because Zoology is the study of all animals, and would help me further understand the world of animals on a scientific level. It would also help me get into Vet School after undergraduate school. Zoology has one of the best placement records for premedical students. As i said in the last paragraph Zoology is the study of all animals. High school students who are planning to major in Zoology are highly encouraged to take as many science and math classes as possible. Zoologists need a variety of skills to be successful on the field. They need to be able to apply scientific rules and methods to solve problems. Zoologists must be able to think critically or use reason to draw conclusions from different test results and scientific observations. • 3. Marilyn Monroe Emotional Issues One of the things a woman wants most in this world is for someone to relate and/or understand her. Ever since I can remember, I ve had that one person to look up to that I felt could relate to me. As long as I can remember, that person was Marilyn Monroe. At about the age of 5, I saw her face on the television screen and by about the age of 12 years old, I was researching all I could about her. The more I learned about her, the more my love grew for her and the more I knew she would understand me if she were here today. Marilyn Monroewas an iconic celebrity but also very relatable to the average woman who deals things such as tough emotional issues, harsh body image problems and having a hard time trusting people or building relationships. Everyone has issues that we deal with; we re only human, right? The emotional issues we deal with daily can be anger, sadness, depression, etc. Marilyn dealt with these emotions as much as anyone else, but there was a time she had said, I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am human . She understood that as a human being, we all have emotional problems, but it s how one deals with their emotions that matters. These emotional issues can stem from many different situations or moments in our life. Dealing with a bully in school, an abusive parent or whatever it may be, can cause these issues. Unfortunately, Marilyn had to deal with emotional issues stemming form the relationship with her mother. One of Marilyn s family members was quoted saying: Gladys didn t hug, kiss or smile, Marilyn s niece, Mona Rae Miracle, exclusively tells Closer. She was delusional, and she heard voices from electrical appliances. She was antisocial and unable to express any emotion, except anger . Marilyn s mother s inability to feel or express emotions was of no benefit to the growth of an impressionable girl such as Marilyn. Marilyn unfortunately paid dearly from this and grew up battling her emotions all of the time. So, knowing what we ve learned so far, there s no doubt that Marilyn Monroe dealt with the same kind of problems your average jane deals with. Emotional issues wouldn t be the only way for Marilyn to relate to us average Janes these days, because she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anubis In Ancient Egypt In very ancient Egyptian history, Anubis was once called Duat and was the supreme ruler of the underworld, until the myths of Osiris, the weird green dude, came by and stole that from him. Kind ve unfair, since this pickle guy just straight up stole Anubis s place as ruler. Anubis was reassigned to God of Embalming , which is just depressing. In ancient Egypt, Anubis is being represented by priests wearing masks of jackals, as a tribute to Anubis while mummifying corpses. And, this leads me to another fact about Anubis, his jackal head. The reason this exists is because jackals were commonly found in cemeteries, and the people of ancient Egypt thought they were protecting the dead bodies, so, as time went on (only like 9 years lets just ... Walmart and the Elements of Business Walmart and the Elements of Its Business Molly Taylor American Intercontinental University Walmart and the Elements of Its Business The history of Walmart is quite interesting and goes all the way back to the 1960 s. Walmart was started by a man named Sam Walton and his brother. Mr. Walton had a degree in economics and used this degree to secure a management trainee position at JC Penny s. With his degree and experience he gained working at JC Penny s he, along with his brother, opened a Ben Franklin store. By the late 50 s they owned 9 Ben Franklin franchises. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has been said in the recent past that Walmart says they treat their employees well but there have been cases recently where this was found not to be true unfortunately. Treating employees unfairly could have a negative economic impact on the community because if workers aren t treated fairly then no one wants to work for the company that s not treating their employees well. Which then has a domino effect because chances are, if that s the case, then people will begin to bash Walmart driving consumers away to possibly purchase from other retailers. This would not be a positive economic environment at all and the chances of the business failing would be pretty good. To best maintain a thriving legal, social and economical environment Walmart needs to have in place a good management structure and for the most part I think they do. If they didn t they would not have risen to be one of the largest retailers in the world over the past almost 50 years. They have a company wide management structure that all stores abide by. This structure includes planning and promotions, goal setting amongst employees, organizing how operations flow on a day to day basis, directing its employees and controlling finances. In order to operate Walmart has to provide services to consumers and make a profit off providing these services. To do that Walmart must constantly stay on top of how the stores are run on a daily basis. To operate a business and be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Going To Theatre In a time when films and a variety of entertainments are accessible through digital forms, some people may still go see the performances of live theatre п»їп»їп»їjust п»їп»їfor the experience. Like the textbook mentions, theatre is living, and each performance is unique to the moment. Because individuals who regularly go to theatreperformances are much fewer than those who would rather see a movie, theatre helps establish an identity that sets the theatre goers apart from the rest and creates a community that unites people who share similar tastes in art. Although in the past, theatre has been widely seen by people of all income levels, in today s society, someone who regularly goes to the theatre is stereotypically associated with a prestigious background and a traditional taste in art. In this sense, going to theatre can be a display of social status. A more important reason is that theatre offers an opportunity for the audienceto interact with the performers on the stage. A roller coaster ride excites and thrills us but at the very same time we feel anxiety and fear. The roller coaster rises, falls, twists and turns. This defines the journey of the characters as they embark upon their travels which are filled with peaks of joy and valleys of heartache, sorrow and death. Spain had been in control of the islands, but when they islands wanted their independence America volunteered to help. America promoted the islands fighting back, and were encouraging the revolution against Spain. Little did these nations know that once Spain had lost, America got signed over everything in the Treaty of Paris, and they did not plan to let these premiere locations go without another fight. We wanted the Philippines for three main reasons: missionaries wanted to spread Christianityand the word of God, we couldn t leave them to govern themselves because they were unfit, as well as business leaders wanted a way to easily become immersed in the vast markets of China. So in February of 1899, America found themselves in another bloody war, known only as the Philippine American War. Throughout the history of America, there has always been the belief of the white mans burden . This means that it is the responsibility of white people to find and save non white people from themselves by forcing our culture and governing upon them. The game, like its predecessors, of which the first was released in 1997, focuses on historical events and revolves around two primary game modes: a campaign mode and a skirmish mode. For the most part, although released six years after Age of Empires II (and three years after the spin off Age of Mythology), gameplay remains the same with the old themes of base building, resource gathering, and destruction of an enemy common throughout most RTS titles. In AoE III, a player can choose to play from a selection of seven European civilizations that were prominent at periods of time during the Age of Exploration through the Industrial Revolution. While general mechanics of the game are the same from civilization to civilization, their strengths and weaknesses are rooted in historical fact. Take the French for example. Historically, the French originally came to the New World as independent trappers and merchants who spread across the wilderness (unlike other settlers who largely came as colonialists on behalf of their respective crowns). They appropriately have the strongest settler units in the game, uniquely titled Coureur des Bois or runners in the woods . They are more expensive than settlers of other civilization, but they collect resources faster and are more resistant early attacks. As the French age through in the game, their military strengths reflect the rise in military prominence the French historically experienced initially under Kings Louis XII and XIV and later under Napoleon Bonaparte, which were both supported by a backbone of heavy cavalry of gendarmes and cuirassiers. Similarly, among a few of the other playable civilizations, the Dutch have the unique ability to build banks to generate coin without having to mine for it, the British have the strongest navy, and the Portuguese get a new town center with every age. The Ottomans, who are also a playable civilization in AoE III, may seem like an odd addition to a game based primarily in the New World, but its presence is one of the many ways Age of Empires subtly engages its player in thinking more broadly about history. Hillary Clinton, 5/12/2010 Women are a large portion of the populace, almost 60% possess professional degrees, make up 47% of the workforce and represent 53% of voters. Despite the fact that they have broken every barrier many times over, women occupy only 18% of the top management positions across the world. While the representation of women in noteworthy positions of political and business sectors has enhanced in some cases, (20 states have female Senators) the leadership pool is still male dominated. The U.S. places 80th in the world when it comes to female representation in authoritative positions, just ahead of countries that are openly criticized for their treatment of women, like Iraq and Afghanistan. As of 2014, only 4.2% of CEO positions and under 17% of board seats are held by ladies among Fortune 500 organizations. Evidence across the region has shown that having more women in senior authority promotes brilliance in areas of performance. Anne Bradstreet was born in 1612 as a Puritan. In Puritan culture education was essential in order for one to be able to read and understand the Bible. This allowed Bradstreet to be well educated in literature and history, particularly in Greek, Latin, French, Hebrew, as well as English (Woodleif). Woodleif goes into detail discussing Bradstreet s education, explaining, She read widely in history, science, and literature, especially the works of Guillame du Bartas, studying her craft and gradually developing a confident poetic voice. Her intellectual education resulted in a huge impact on her life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Theory Of The Mind Body Dualism RenГ© Descartes was a French mathematician, scientist, and philosopher of the 16th Century, who, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, was one of the first to abandon scholastic Aristotelianism and created the first version of the modern mind body dualism or emotion (Encyclopedia Britannica). Born on March 31, 1596, he was dubbed as the Father of Modern Philosophy. His theory on the mindbody dualism, also known as Cartesian Dualism, created a stem of the modern problem of the relationship between the mind and body. He created the early version to further explain the interaction of the mind and body, to create a firm foundation that can be explained through science and to prove the existence and goodness of God, and how the soulcould be immortal. Along with that, he mentioned that the mind is different from the body. One of the basic thesis of his Cartesian Dualism is that a mental substance cannot have a physical form, and that said physical form cannot have experiences , for the mind and body cannot function without the other (Chin Tai Kim 337). In his Cartesian Dualism, RenГ© Descartes believes that every human being possesses a body and mind (Nath 1). Though, there are some philosophers who might have agreed, disagreed or criticized about his theory. Philosophers such as Gilbert Ryle, critiqued about the Descartes Cartesian Dualism, for he believes that the principle of Descartes Dualism theory is not valid enough and full of problems. • 43. Heart Of Darkness Heart of Darkness Self restraint may be alien to the human temperament, but humanity without restraint will dig its own grave (Mannes). This quote by Marya Mannes creates a very accurate picture of what a debacle man creates when casting away one s conscience, and indulging in the flesh. The distinctions between right and wrong, in other words a conscience, are the basis of Joseph Conrads book, Heart of Darkness. His book exemplifies the importance of living life distanced from our natural and sinful desires. Furthermore, Conrad focuses his reader s attention on the separation between animals and humans is a thin line called restraint. In sum, Conrad s novel uses the literary elements of symbolism, character development, and setting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the contrast between light and dark a chimerical form of symbolism that paints an adroit picture of the underlying truth of The Heart of Darkness. A perfect portrayal of the light and dark emphasis in the book is on page 21 when Marlow describes a painting by saying, Then I noticed a small scotch in oils, on a panel, representing a woman draped and blindfolded, carrying a lighted torch (Conrad 21). This woman represents the Europeans being blind to the truth of what is going on in the Congo, and her torch is the truth that the blindfold is blocking. Marlow is like that woman, he came into the Congo believing a lie that he was brutally faced with, and ultimately falls victim to following. Additionally, Marlow, who was once morally upright, had been transformed into the very thing that he abhorred, and ultimately gives into his fleshy desire and abandoning his conscience. Another example of symbolism is when the chief accountant is described as, a white man in such an unexpected elegance...starched collar, white cuffs, white alpaca jacket, snowy trousers (Conrad 15). Because of his white washed appearance in such a dark and horrible place, it symbolizes the hypocrisy of the men of the company. Furthermore, They, on the outside, claim to be these amazing and aesthetic people showing altruism for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Character Analysis Of Mr. Wills Will J. The Taste of Melon: Mr. Wills Character Analysis Nov. 17 2017 In The Taste of Melon by Borden Deal, the character of Mr. Wills is written as a round/complex character. Mr. Wills exhibits three main traits throughout the story, and those traits do not change. First is his success as a farmer, second is his emotional personality, and third is his intimidating and frightening demeanor and reputation. While it may be easy to say that Mr. Wills is a dynamic character, his core traits never changeat any point in the plot. Only the way he is perceived by other characters changes. The first main character trait of Mr. Wills is his success as a farmer. During the exposition of the plot as the narrator is introducing all of its characters, he says Mr. Wills was the best farmer in the community. (Deal, 131) as if it was common knowledge. The narrator s father chimes in when he says ...that he could drive a stick into the ground and grow a tree out of it. (Deal, 131) Mr. Wills appears to show his technical proficiency in farming best when he is growing watermelons. As the narrator put it; Other men, like Mr. Wills, can throw some seed on the ground, scuff some dirt over it, walk off and leave it. And they ll have a crop of the prettiest, biggest melons you ever saw. (Deal, 131) This trait did not change during the story; never was it revealed that Mr. Wills was putting fake watermelons in his patch, or that he was importing prize melon seeds. From what is shown in the story Mr. Wills is just a talented man. The second main character trait of Mr. Wills are his volatile emotions. Beside the obvious examples of him simply showing anger, such as When he plowed his fields you could hear him yelling for a mile. (Deal, Pg. 131) There is also the example of him performing actions out of anger and then regretting them later. Then I saw it, he was destroying every melon in the patch! (Deal, Pg. 137), and You ruined the half of it, and I ruined the other. (Deal, Pg. 140) These quotes show that Mr. Wills has a tendency to act brashly and then regret it. This is a trait that does not change through the story, instead it is fully revealed near the end during the resolution of the plot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Sir Thomas Mun s Theory Of Mercantilism Sir Thomas Mun (1571 1641), a famous economic thinker from the sixteenth century, was most closely associated with the idea of Mercantilism. This school of thought mainly focused on international trade and the balance of trade through acquisition of silver and gold. Thomas Mun achieved many accomplishments in his 70 years of life; most notably, his role as the Director of the East India Company, publishing books and pamphlets on his theory of mercantilism, molding England s trade policies to maximize the nation s wealth, and further setting a precedent for international tradethat many countries thereafter followed. When Thomas Mun first introduced his idea of foreign trade, it was during a time of an economic downfall in England. Many people believed that the East India Company was to blame because they had financed their trade by exporting a large amount of bullion in order to purchase spices (Walter,1). When accusations arose of his company being at fault for the trade imbalance in England, Mun s defense strategy involved informing the citizens of the country about the benefits of international trade to increase England s wealth. Mun wrote a pamphlet, A Discourse of Trade, from England unto the East Indies, to explain why his company had chosen to be a participant of trade. Mun explained that if the company had chosen to deter from the trading of bullion for spices, England would have actually been at more of disadvantage economically. The reason for this, is that ...
