about enhanced appearance, and additionally more prominent fearlessness and self regard. For a

Revenge In Euripides Medea
Revenge Euripides Medea is a tragedy focused on a woman who feels that her husband has
betrayed her with another woman and the revenge she bestows on them. Medea s passion is the
motivating factor for her revenge. Beginning with the killing of the bride to be, and the bride s
father, to the killing of her two children and by leaving her husband depleted and miserable she
succeeded in her revenge. The theme of this play is best represented by the saying, what goes
around comes around. There are many reasons as to why Medeaseeks revenge on the ones who
have wronged her. Furthermore, ever since the beginning of the play we see that Medea is not only
furious at her husband but also all constituents involved. Oh, may I see Jasonand... Show more

Following this Jason asks how she is dealing with this so well and Medea replies with, It is true;
But my pain s a fair price, to take away your smile. (Line 1363 1363) Jason responds with an
accusation of wickedness and Medea counters it with one of treachery, neither taking blame for
either. There are many reasons why Medea wanted revenge and by these quotes we can clearly say
that she has accomplished her mission and decimated Jason in heart and soul.
Therefore, this play shows us Medea s reasons for taking such drastic measures in her revenge
scheme. Jason s betrayal working as a catalyst for Medea s plot, sent Medea into a passionate
craze, fiending for revenge and retribution. By the end of the play Medea has accomplished her
mission, taking everything that Jason loves and destroying it. In denouement to this premise Medea
has taken her revenge and, what goes around, comes

Jamie Oliver Essay
Part A
1.Introduction
Entrepreneur is a person who habitually creates and innovates something with recognised value and
seizes the opportunities to convert them to marketable ideas (Bolton Thompson, 2004). Kuratko
(2009) describes entrepreneurship as a process of vision and creation that requires an application of
energy and passion towards the creation and implantation of new ideas and creative solutions.
For this assignment, my chosen entrepreneur is Jamie Oliver. I will be using his biography and three
other articles to analyse his personal, sociological and environmental antecedents. 2.Background of
Entrepreneur
Jamie Oliver was born in Essex, England where he frequently helped out in his parent s restaurant

People with high internal locus of control believe that events result mainly from themselves and
not based on luck or fate (Schaper, et al., 2014). Therefore, for me to success in running the
business, I must believe that I can control the events in my life and not give up halfway.
Thirdly, effective entrepreneurs have a strong desire to know how well they are doing and how
can they improve their performance. According to Kuratko (2009), feedback is also central to their
learning from mistakes and setbacks. Therefore, in running my business, I have to actively seek
feedback from customers and learn from these mistakes.
Fourthly, successful entrepreneurs are those who learn to manage, calculate and transfer some
risks to others (Schaper, et al., 2014). Therefore, I need to learn how to manage risks and view
some of this risk as an opportunity in running the business.
Lastly, Shapero and Sokol (1982) stated that family plays the most important role in forming the
desirability and trustworthiness of the entrepreneurial action. Therefore, with the support from my
family, I believe that I am able to start a company

The Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as a deprived life choice, for example, tasks of teenage
parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and children (Statistics New
Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy to lower
the chances of mental health problems in young mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the
main socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an
adolescent motherin New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of
education is considered as a socioeconomic factor associated with teenage pregnancy, followed by
the second theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as, parental unemployment
and welfare dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how deficiency of support from familyand
friends leads to unstable relationships, which has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental
health. A lack of education is one of the main socioeconomic factors which impact the mental health
of an adolescent mother. Studies show a number of negative outcomes that are linked with dropping
out of school at an early age. For example, youth that tends to gain fewer educational qualifications
are more likely to be in unstable relationships resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding
contraceptive use which leaves them to deal with economic circumstances (Breheny Stephens,

Research Paper On Ruidos
I fell in love with Ruidoso, New Mexico, the first time I saw it and kept going back for different
reasons. Either for shows, shopping, or to go visit newly made friends. Ruidoso is a quiet
mountain/tourism community that has attracted many people from all walks of life and of course

brother Will had started this little community and one of their buildings still stands today. Others
followed their path to make a life for themselves and with automobiles being built a road was
constructed for the people to get to Ruidoso other than horse and cart. Ruidoso has a relation with
the economy, political structure, and culture which are reciprocal economic.

Comparing The Silk Road And Its Effect In China And The West
3. Describe the Silk Road and its use and effect in China and the West.
The Silk Road and its use and effect in China and the West can be best described as the primary
trade routes from China to Italy, specifically Rome. The name Silk Road would lead one to think it
was simply a road traveled much like traveling from North Carolina to California using Interstate
40. The Silk Road was much more than that. The trade routes of the Silk Road had a great and long
lasting effect on China and the West.
The Silk Road began in about 114 BCE. It was the fabled trade links between East Asia and the
West. The 5000 mile long network of caravan and sea routes stretched from Chang an to

Though silk was certainly the major trade item from China, many other goods were traded, and
religions, syncretic philosophies, and various technologies, as well as diseases, also travelled
along the Silk Road. In addition to economic trade, the Silk Road served as a means of carrying
out cultural trade among the civilizations along its network. The Silk Road became its own demise
as well. As luxury goods were exported from China throughout the world, the methods of production
that had been kept secret in China came out too. Europeans began to develop manufacturing
technics to emulate Chinese production. Europeans produced and manufactured the items only
available from China and no longer need to import from China. By the sixteenth century, the Silk
Road was no longer in use. In conclusion, the Silk Road connected the many cultures of the time.
The Silk Road promoted education and invention as all the various items imported and exported

Jaws Blockbuster Effect
Known as one of the greatest and most famous films of all time, Jaws was recognized as a
summer blockbuster after its release in June 1975. Jaws, directed by Steven Spielberg, was highly
known for its outstanding cinematography, scenic music, as well as the effect it had on
filmmaking history with the tremendously small budget they had of 9 million dollars. This film
created a summer blockbuster by being the start of great suspense, action, and strong effects and
explosions. Movies these days have extreme CGI effects where many viewers may not be amazed
nor shocked about, but Jaws, being the first film with solid effects, has impacted a vast audience.

brought to millions of viewers and greater films it has impacted and created. Not only has Jaws

Jaws invented that form of pleasurable entertainment exactly 40 years ago this week, opening on
June 20, 1975. It also launched the career of Steven Spielberg and turned sharks, in the popular
imagination, from fish into monsters (Marche). It is truly amazing how Spielberg was able to
accomplish such a task in being able to change billions of peoples view on one aspect. One film
created how a shark can be viewed as a surviving animal living in the ocean on one day and a
vicious, man eating killer the next. The suspense that is used throughout the film had an impact on
many movies today; directors today use the cuts and ideas that resemble attacks under water or
scenes out in the ocean. The huge explosions and surprising shark attacks have given directors a
new view on filming and cinematography. The effect this film had not only influenced the audience

Stereotypes In Desperate Housewives
Section one is going to contain the first kind of stereotypes which the series breaks down. First,
people s opinion about the 1950s American housewife will start this part. Then, two of the four
main characters will show the stay at home mother pattern. One of them, Bree Van De Kamp s
character will show that this type of housewife is also capable of doing immoral things and
Lynette is going to show the power of women. Last, Susan Mayer who is able to do everything on
her own even as a single parent mother who stays at home with the children and Gabrielle will
represent the life phase which changed because of pregnancy. Desperate Housewivesis a television
series about the suburban life of four women. The official website of the show says:

Fat Tax Rebuttal
Fat Tax: Rebuttal The fat tax is a proposed tax on certain unhealthy foods that lead to the
development of certain medical conditions such as obesity. As obesity is a growing concern of
many Americans, arguments can be made about how effective a fat tax may be if implemented. The
opposing group argues that the implementation of a fat tax would discourage the consumption of
unhealthy foods, reduce costs of medical treatment, and obtain government funding. Although our
opposition has some strong points, there are still unanswered questions that need to be addressed.
The opposition claims that a fat tax would deter Americans from eating harmful junk food. They
compare a fat tax to the sin tax on cigarettes, which they claim has lowered cigarette usage in
America. However, much like cigarettes, fatty foods are filled with addictive chemicals that make
people crave more (Engber). Our opposition claims that because the sin tax helped lower the usage
of cigarettes the fat tax will theoretically do the same for unhealthy foods. However, they fail to
mention that the decline of cigarettes is also attributed to strict laws on their usage and the new...

Our opponents are wrong in assuming that the fat tax would reduce obesity. The tax would not help
lower obesity as well as the sin tax lowered the use of cigarettes, since the two carry two different
connotations. Claiming that the tax would lower obesity solely through speculation is illogical.
Additionally, the opposition s statement that a fat tax would deter people from purchasing
unhealthy foods and that the government would use the money collected from the fat tax to fight
obesity contrast each other. These fallacies in our opponent s argument show that the reasons for
the fat tax are full of misconceptions and conflicting viewpoints. That is why opposing the fat tax is
the most logical thing to

production support teams. The implementation started with lot of training for Scrum. Not only
we hired trained scrum masters, we sponsored a lot of technical as well as business leaders to

restructuring within our office space. Since all the technical teams were transformed into scrum
there was not need to have office cubicles. Hence the whole floor was transformed into multi

be flexible in moving across teams if there was need to stand up or tear down a team. Training was
the key aspect to make Agile transformation successful. There was multiple mandatory training
sessions setup for all employees. Also each teams were assigned an agile coach to ensure the

How Did Diana Contribute To The Ancient World
One way Diana contributed to the Ancient world was through women. Diana was the Goddess of
babies and their mothers, and she was invoked by them. Women would pray to her for a child, and
then, once pregnant, they would they pray for an easy delivery. This form of worship is attested in
finds of votives statuettes in her sanctuary in the nemus of Aricinum as well as in Ancient sources
(crystalinks). Diana became the goddessof babies and their mothers by devoting herself never to

Oscar Wilde Individualism Essay
The famous Irish writer Oscar Wilde is perhaps best known for his individualistic ideas about art
and life as well as for his homosexuality, which was not only frowned upon in Victorian society,
but illegal. Despite this however, Wilde was influenced heavily by the inescapable pressure from
society to conform. He revelled in being a part of the Victorian upper class, which had strict rules,
whether spoken or unspoken, to dictate the behaviour of everyone in high society. The four
comedic plays that centred on satirizing this very society earned Wilde most of his fame, especially
The Importance of Being Earnest, an amusing story focusing on pretending to be someone else for

He also reveals his increased individualism through the contrasting tones of De Profundis
(written during and after prison) and The Importance of Being Earnest (written before prison).
While Earnest is cheerful and extravagant to appeal to society, De Profundis is sad and realistic,
showing that Wilde no longer cared what society thought about him after his exile from the upper
class lifestyle. In addition, Earnest s exaggerated, theatrical, happy ending evokes a distinct
feeling that Wilde means the direct opposite. Especially knowing that the play was written as
satire, it seems unlikely that he really believed that all the characters in that situation would end
up with exactly what they wanted and no consequences. Jack s final line, I ve now realized for
the first time in my life the vital Importance of Being Earnest (Wilde, 2005, p.79), seems
especially sarcastic, and rather than saying that being honest ( earnest ) is the reason everyone ends
up perfectly content, it reads as a warning that unless one maintains society s definition of earnest ,

How A Company Needs Help Expand Into New Markets
A company needs funds to expand into new markets, while governments need money for
everything from infrastructure to social programs. The problem large organizations run into is that
they typically need far more money than the average bank can provide. The solution is to raise
money by issuing bonds (or other debt instruments) to a public market. Thousands of investors then
each lend a portion of the capital needed. Really, a bondis nothing more than a loan for which you
are the lender. The organization that sells a bond is known as the issuer. The bond market(also debt
market or credit market) is a financial marketwhere participants can issue new debt, known as the
primary market, or buy and sell debt securities, known as the secondary market. This is usually in

Pros And Cons Of Doctor Faustus
The idea of selling your soul to the devil for knowledge has been around for as long as Doctor
Faustus. Christopher Marlowe s play dealt with this controversial topic in 1590 s. The story of
Doctor Faustus is just as relevent today as it was hundreds of years ago. This paper will be a study
of the pros and cons of the idea of selling your soul to the devil.
Doctor Faustus was a well respected scholar; he was bored of and not happy with traditional forms
of knowledge like logic, medicine, law, and religion. He wanted to learn magic so two of his friends
promised to teach him the secrets of black magic. The first thing he did was summon
Mephasthophilis, one of Lucifer s servants. Since Doctor Faustus had great ambitions he told
Mephasthophilis to go back to Lucifer so he could strike a deal with the devil to learn everything
in the world. For twenty four years of service from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is evidence to support both. For example in the essay by Elizabeth Poole she discusses his
original goal that starts all this. His ambition to know and see things that no other human has seen
before is considered highly romantic. The way he handles himself after making the deal is the
tragedy. Sadly he is presented with several chances to repent but he refuses. Ms. Poole discusses
his denial of God and his wish for knowledge and control over nature. In Act 2 Scene 1, pg 16 19
he is confronted by opposing angels good and bad. Faustus says : Contrition, Prayer, repentance
what of these? the good angel replies: O, they are means to bring thee unto heaven. the bad angel
says: Rather illusions, fruits of lunacy. That make them foolish that do use the most. Faustus
chooses not to believe he can save his

The Effects Of Leptin On Other Human Obese Gene Located On...
Leptin is a protein containing 166 amino acids and is the product of human obese gene located on
chromosome 7q31.3. Leptin is produced mainly by adipose tissue. It is also synthesized in small
amounts in other human tissues such as the stomach, heart, mammary epithelium , placenta,
ovaries, skeletal muscle, pituitary, and liver (Muoio et al., 2002).
After leptin is secreted by the adipose tissue, it enters the brain through the bloodstream. Gastric
leptin may also reach hypothalamus through the vagal nerve and nucleus solitarius. Effects of leptin
on various systems have been reported, including reproduction, immune system, hematopoesis,
angiogenesis, bone formation and wound healing. It plays an important role in energy balance by
inhibiting energy intake contrary to ghrelin, and by regulating body weight and energy homeostasis
(Moran Phillip, 2003).
The expression of leptin by adipose tissue is also influenced by feeding behaviour. Short term (12
h) or long term (2 or 8 weeks) overfeeding results in an increase in adipocyte leptin expression and
circulating leptin in healthy human subjects. Furthermore, circulating leptin levels show a diurnal
pattern and are influenced by gender, age, exercise and glucose uptake (Table 3).

IL-6 Gene Polymorphisms
Such individual variations seem to be regulated by common nucleotide variations in the IL 6
encoding gene, located on chromosome 7p21.221 The association between IL 6 gene
polymorphisms and periodontitis in different ethnicities has been widely investigated and the
results suggest that IL 6 gene c 174G/C polymorphism is associated with periodontopathogens
detection, variations in severity of inflammation, tissue destruction, and attachment loss in
periodontal disease.222,223 It is well known that a large amount of IL 6 is secreted in response to
inflammatory stimuli such as Toll like receptor ligands and proinflammatory cytokines including IL
1, IL 17, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) О± to combat infections and, finally, to promote
inflammation.224... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Increased levels of IL 6 also lead to increased production of TNF О± and C reactive protein
(CRP), which in turn, may also have an indirect impact on insulin resistance .233 Ross et al. (2010)
found that periodontal IL 6 expression increases when that disease status changes from „no
disease‟ to „one disease (periodontal disease)‟ to „two diseases (periodontitis and
diabetes)‟, which may suggest that diabetes further aggravates systemic inflammation.234 The
literature suggests a two way relationship between periodontal diseases and diabetes, although the
mechanisms in which this relationship occurs is still not completely understood. It seems that
diabetics are more susceptible to periodontal diseases due to both a hyper inflammatory component
leading to more tissue destruction as well as an impaired immune response, which could delay
/impair host s natural healing/regenerative capabilities during the disease course. On the other hand,
periodontitis may aggravate the diabetic host inflammatory component both locally and
systemically, leading to worsening of diabetes

Censorship Of The Chinese Communist Party
When one uses the internet in China, the person must always understand... he or she is being
watched. In China, over 100,000 government enforcers work to censor or block unwanted
information from Chinese and foreign websites. Much of this information being shot down includes
talk of democracy, the very opposite of the Chinese Communist Party s ideas. Censorship of internet
and media in China has been brought by its Communist government who have wanted to shield the
Chinese people from undesired ideas, such as democracy, that could start a large revolt of citizens
demanding government reforms. On October 1, 1949, Mao Zedongfounded the People s Republic
of China after he and his Communist supporters defeated the nationalists, beginning a new era for
China of strict totalitarian rule. When Mao died in 1976, the country was left in ruins from Mao s
failed plans. A new leader, Deng Xiaoping, emerged and made reforms allowing open market
capitalism in the economy that changed China into a powerful country. Yet, Deng stayed with a
totalitarian government that still had harsh crackdowns such as the June 4, 1989 Tiananmen
Massacre and today censorship law. Some may argue that it is necessary the Chinese government
continue to censor foreign websites and information in order to ensure the public s safety and trust.
Although the Chinese government states that censorship is necessary to ensure citizens safety, it
will threaten the country s future success because it constricts

Corporate Governance Of A Company s Shareholders, Board,...
пѓ INTRODUCTION Corporate Governance is the set of relationships between a company s
shareholders, board, the executive management and other stakeholders. The conflict of interest
between these parties has resulted in what is called the agency problem, which arises from the
separation of ownership and control at a corporation. Good corporate governance practices attempt
to resolve the agency problems by aligning the interests of managers and shareholders. The same
corporate governance is not followed by all countries; it differs according to the culture, practices,
legal, and history, economic and social environment. Each company follows its own procedure for
governing on the lines of the model given by the country. Corporations today have laid down the
policies of CG in their own manner as a result of which an important question is whether standard
CG can be established and achieved at a global level. In each country, the corporate governance
structure has certain characteristics or constituent elements, which distinguish it from structures in
other countries. CG component factors can be classified into three groups those related to top
management organization, the board as whole or shareholders, and stakeholders.
пѓ PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The purpose of this study is to know the different rules and
practices and models followed by different countries and how the companies manage to thereby

is a project management tool used to schedule, organize, and coordinate tasks within a project. It is

project. PERT planning involves the following steps: пЃ® пЃ® пЃ® пЃ® пЃ® пЃ® Identify the

Determine the critical path. The critical path is determined by adding the times for the activities in
each sequence and determining the longest path in the project. The critical path determines the total
calendar time required for the project. If activities outside the critical path speed up oe slow down
(within limits), the total project time does not change. The amount of time that a non critical path
activity can be delayed without the project is referred to as a slack time. If the critical path is not
immediately obvious, it may be helpful to determine the following four quantities foe each activity:
ES Earliest Start time EF Earliest Finish time LS Latest Start time LF Latest Finish time These
times are calculated using the expected time for the relevant activities. The earliest start and finish
times of each activity are determined by working forward through the network and determining the
earliest time at which an activity can start and finish considering its predecessors activities. The
latest start and finish times are the latest times that an activity can start and finish without delaying
the project. LS and LF are found by working backward through the network. The difference in the
latest and earliest finish of each activity is that activity s slack. The critical path then is the path
through the network in which none of the activities have slack. The variance in the project
completion time can be calculated by

The Influence Of Impressionism In The Art Of Art And Art
The Rococo style was popular in France during the 1700 s after the days of Versailles and into the
days of the aristocratic women hosting salons. Rococo artists sold their works to the wealthy
people of society to decorate their lavish salons to awe their guests. The artwork gave the salons
their sense of luxury and sensuality with scenes of classic love stories and lacey dresses. After the
impressionist movement came the post impressionist movement in France. This movement was
less unified then movements before it. These artists were experimental in finding a new way to
represent their world and imagination. Also starting in France during the 1930 s after the Great War
came the Surrealist movement. Following the teachings of Freud, Surreal artist dove into their
minds to find the inspiration for their irrational creations. The Rococomovement focused on
creating an atmosphere of sensuality and luxury in the social salons. The use of bright color in the
love stories, extreme detail portraying naughty scenes and nature is how the artist chose to create
their work. They told classical, fanciful love stories to the wealth French society. In contrast to this
fanciful style the geared towards the wealthy, the post impressionists chose to use art as a way of
expression and showing their imagination while experimenting with different styles. Post
impressionist used imagination and science to show their scenes with color and stiff figures. The
Surrealists chose to further this

flies should be caught with a net, and then immobilized in a glass killing jar consisting of a

be placed directly into a vial of 75% ethyl alcohol. The next step is the collection of eggs and

Some flies prefer indoors or outdoors for laying eggs, and some prefer the shade or sunlit areas.
Furthermore, a delay or absence of eggs in the typical colonization time may indicate the body
was frozen, sealed in a sealed container, or buried very deep. Finally, in a violent death or abuse,
certain flies are attracted to urine, feces, or blood. By collecting these insects a forensic
entomologist can yield important information about a victim prior to their death, but also
postmortem, by using DNA technology that can use the blood found in an insect from the
victim to establish a link between victim and a suspect (Byrd, 2014). Decomposition is a multi
stage process that includes the fresh stage, bloat stage, active decay stage, advanced decay stage,
and the putrid dry decay stage. During the fresh, bloat, and active decay stages the blow flies,
eggs, and larvae are present. But, the rate of decomposition can be delayed or increased based on
the environment (e.g. indoors or outdoors), a well or minimally concealed body, temperature, and
seasons. A body submerged in water is typically cooler in temperature or the type of protection a
body has surrounding it, can impede on the colonization of blow flies, resulting in the delay of
decomposition. But, a body with open wounds, exposure to certain drugs (e.g. cocaine), or even
bodies charred can

The Bloody Chamber Symbolism
In The Bloody Chamber, Angela Carter tells the tale of a seventeen year old girl who marries an
older, wealthy Marquis. Like many other clever authors, Carter gives the reader an opportunity to
determine the outcome of the story before the ending is reached through her symbolism and
allusions which foreshadow the ending. In doing so, she not only provides insight into what will
happen next but also further develops each of the characters through these complex symbols that
she incorporates throughout the story. Carter first alludes to the outcome of the story by
introducing the ruby choker that the Marquis gave as a wedding gift within the first few pages of
the narrative. She describes it as, a choker of rubies, two inches wide, like an extraordinarily
precious slit throat (6). The reader can infer a considerable amount from this one simple... Show

left earlier in the story, this reference to the choker is much more explicit, as it contrasts the dark
ruby color with the bright white dress. This illustrates the theme of innocence versus violence,
which is seen all throughout the story. The explicit revelation of the necklace prefiguring her end
shows that the symbolism that Carter incorporated in the story begins subtler and becomes more
straightforward towards the end. While not all of Carter s elements of foreshadowing may have
been as lengthy and apparent as the ruby red choker, not a single one fell short of its quality and
effectiveness in helping her to reach the overall effect of building anticipation and increasing

Essay about Globalization and SC Johnson
Globalization is the shift toward a more integrated and interdependent world economy (Hill,
2005). Globalization has several different areas including the globalization of markets and of
production. The Globalization of markets is the blending of different markets from different
nations into one large global marketplace. Cross border trading has made it easier to sell
internationally. Companies can sell standardized products efficiently and effectively all over the
world thus helping to build a global marketplace. The globalization of production refers to the
sourcing of goods and services from locations around the globe to take advantage of national
differences in the cost and quality of factors of production (such as labor, energy,... Show more

There are many major drivers for globalization. There are two factors that seem to drive the trend
toward greater globalization. The first factor is the decline in international trade barriers that has
occurred since the end of World War II. Once the barriers were removed then international trade
had a chance to grow and change the economy to a more global one. Tariffs were fees charged on
top off the cost of imported goods. The hope was to deter people from choosing the imports,
instead choosing the domestic goods. Once the tariffs were stopped, many more people were able
to buy and sell imported goods.
The second factor is the numerous technological advancements in recent years pertaining to
communication, information processing, and transportation technologies.
The development of the microprocessor was a huge step forward in computing technology. The
microprocessor allowed growth of high powered, low cost computers that could handle much more
information than ever before. This enabled countries to grow their education and manufacturing
capabilities greatly in order to compete in a global market place.
Lastly, containerization has forever changed the transportation business by lowering the costs of
shipping goods over long distances. Before containerization, it cost time, money, and labor when
shipping items over many miles. In the 1970s and 1980s, once containerization took charge, then

The Case of Park City University
In the present case, Park City University has failed to show history and continuing practice of
expanding opportunities for women athletes. Unlike Cohen, Part City University cannot
establish that it has a great history of program expansion for the underrepresented sex. In Cohen,
the court found that Brown had a history of expansion because it implemented 14 women s
programs between 1971 and 1977, followed by their last program expansion in 1982. In
contrast, in the present case Park City University implemented just seven women s teams
between 1970 and 1990 followed by their last expansion in 2003. In comparison to Cohen, Park
City University added just half number of teams in almost twenty years of the time period.
Additionally, applying the court s reasoning of Cohen in the present case, Park City University
failed to continue to expand its program in response to the interests and abilities of women, since
it did not make efforts to increase opportunity for women athletes for the time period of 22 years.
If Park City University had added women s teams between 1990 and 2003, and then refused to
establish women s golf team, the court would find Park City University in compliance with the
continuing practice of program expansion requirement. Since, it is apparent that Park City
University had failed to provide a history and continuing practice of program expansion for
females, it did not satisfy the prong two tests under Title IX three part test. On the other hand, in

Analysis Of Jealous Extremaduran And Deceitful Marriage
The exemplary novels are timeless not only for the stories they tell, but also for the vivid ways in
which they depict society at the time when these stories were written. Through the analysis of
Cervantes s Jealous Extremaduran and Deceitful Marriage, one is able to see and dissect the many
jobs and roles played by people in society during the 16th and 17th centuries in Spain. In the story
entitled The Jealous Extremaduran, Cervantes exhibits the roles of a hidalgo turned indiano, poor
aristocrat, child of a merchant, and multiple slaves. In this story, a man named Felipe de
Carrizales is born into vast wealth and depicted as a Hidalgo, or a nobleman. He spends it all
upon finite entities and becomes stripped of all affluence. He then goes to the New World,
becomes rich and returns to his homeland of Spain as an indiano. He subsequently falls in love
with a young and beautiful girl, Leonora, and marries her. Leonora is a great representation of
the aristocracy in Spain, because she is born with a good family, but does not possess any sort of
wealth. Many people in Spain at this time had an aristocratic title, but only a select few held the
wealth due to the practice of mayorazgo. Those like Leonora in society at that time were known as
segundГіnes. While Carrizales is married to her, he has such a fear of her being unfaithful to him,
that he builds a house analogous to a prison to hold her. A popular, young, and handsome bachelor

Compare And Contrast The Picture Of Dorian Grey And The...
In both Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Grey and Alexandre Dumas s The Count of Monte
Cristo the main characters are lend to believe in a greater notion of life. Specifically, Oscar Wilde
and Alexandre Dumas appear to illustrate the idea that one cannot better themselves through
others. Both protagonists, Dorian Grey and Edmond DantГЁs fail to recognize and act on their
own fortune and, consequently, seek out to better themselves which eventually leads to their
downfall. In both The Picture of Dorian Grey and The Count of Monte Cristo we are introduce to
two young, fresh faced men who are yet to see enough of the world for it to negatively affect their
being. In the case of Dorian Grey much of the first part of the book is spent... Show more content on

He is young and has the world at his fingertips, he was just promoted after docking, and engaged
on his way to get married. For Edmond the future is looking and his personality reflects that. The
all seems well and good in the being this only means that they have further to fall. Thought the
paths taken by Dorian and Edmond are different in execution they are both that of a dark and
twisted nature the leads to the same conclusion. For Dorian, his descent down a dangerous path
beings with the most dangerous thing of all knowledge. Specifically a book given to him by
Lord Henry a short time after meeting him which enlightens him to the self serving side of life
using his youth, charm, status and beauty to get what he wanted. This is the being of the end for
him as he takes it to far, driving everyone who could or did care about him away. With the his
descent into the darkness only being furthered by the realisation that though many years have past
he hasn t aged and he has remained externally beautiful, while the portrait done by Basil has
instead, but has been twisted and turned into something dark and unrecognizable. As for Edmond
his fall from grace is, surprisingly, not when he s betrayed by those three men or when he is sent
to a prison that he is never to leave again. No the being of his dark descent is when he learns that
by working with inmate in the cell over he could get out. It is at that moment Edmond beings

Social Injustice Book Review
Social Injustice Book Review
Injustice: why social inequality persists, by Daniel Dorling.
The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask ourselves what is
social justice? As defined by (Walker, 1999, p.9). Social justice is mutual responsibility it insists
that we all accept duties as well as rights to each other and to society .
Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and how these 5
causes have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The path to a better future,
these contend, lies in a better understanding and appreciation of how the injustices of the past
affect patterns of oppression today (Spinner Halev, 2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate
many years ago has now become what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of
explaining what these 5 tenants of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language
whilst giving us examples of how these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant both past
and present is briefly explained to us in the introduction of the book, but Dorling delves deeper into
each tenant in such greater detail in later chapters. Each chapter shows us how these tenants affect
/have affected certain domains within our society.
These new tenants/faces of injustice nowadays are stated as: Elitism, Exclusion, Prejudice, Greed
and Despair. Old evils/faces that were once said to cause social injustice were due to a lack of:
Education (ignorance), Money (want) Work (idleness) Comfort (squalor) and Health (disease).
Dorling points out that while many people say they don t agree with these beliefs or claim to reject
them, are often at times the ones to uphold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Similarities And Differences In Rikki-Tavi
Similarities and Differences in the Movie and the Book in Rikki Tikki Tavi
Rikki Tikki has many similarities as well as differences in the movie and book. Rikki Tikki is a
mongoose which is a small carnivorous mammal with a long body and a tall and grizzled or
banded coat. Although the book and the movie have many similarities there are also several
differences in the book and movie. Some of them are minor differences though, for example, in
the book, the first night that Rikki Tikki stayed there he was given a piece of raw meat when in
the movie he was given a banana. Some more of the similarities and differences in the book and
movie Rikki Tikki ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book, many of the characters were described in a good way in the book and were just like
they had been described in the movie. Teddy and his family were just like they had been described
in the book and said every single one of the lines they said in the book in the movie and also did the
action that were described in the book. One example is that when Teddy said, Here s a dead
mongoose. Let s have a funeral. he said those exact same words in the movie. Another similarity
including the characters would be when Darzee s wife decided to help Rikki Tikki by
pretending she had a broken wing to distract Nagaina while Rikki Tikki decided to kill all but
one of her eggs. It also happened just as it was described in the book when she decided to help
him and showed both the part where Darzee s wife decided to help him and when Rikki Tikki
goes to kill most of Nagaina s eggs. The way that this had happened in the book was the same way
that that it had happened in the movie. Both of these two things were similarities in the book and

10 Reasons We Re Stoked About Survivor Research
10 Reasons We re Stoked About Survivor: Cambodia It s hard to believe that reality TV show
Survivor is coming into it s 31st season. Yep, that s right THIRTY ONE SEASONS. Not many
TV shows, let alone reality programs, have that claim to fame. Yet season after season, Mark
Burnett and the team put together interesting and energetic casts, and for some reason we still
love to watch how they interact with each other when left stranded in the middle of nowhere. So
what does Season 31 promise to bring? Here are 10 reasons we re stoked about Survivor:
Cambodia. Number Ten: Jeff Probt I know, I know, we ve seen Probst do this gig a million (ok,
30) times, but somehow the iconic blue shirt, hand raise at the start of every challenge, and the
witty dialogue never gets old. Also an executive producer on the show, Probst knows what... Show

A new setting equals new challenges for the castaways; not just physically, but also as they
battle against the harsh environment and embark on the never ending quest to find more food.
Number Eight: Blast from the past Do you remember Terry? That dude who rocked the boat in
the Cook Islands and nearly took the million from underneath Aras s nose? And what about
Savage, the guy who was as likeable as Rupert in Pearl Islands? Plenty of Survivor alumni are
back this year, and with old school players comes the entertainment value of seeing how
traditional game values exist in a revitalised and highly competitive new version of Survivor.
Number Seven: World s colliding Can you imagine the fireworks that must have occurred when
some of these players butted heads? Put together the hot headedness of Abi Maria from the
Philippines, the chaos of Kass from Beauty vs Brains vs Braun, and the wit of Australia s Jeff
Varner, and we have a recipe for a fascinating (and entertaining) season. Number Six: The physical

In Vitro Fertilization Is Ethical
Making someone else s baby Surrogate mothers carry another couple s child with her own eggs or
fertilized eggs from other women. Surrogate motherhood is unethical and needs to be banned due to
the fact that reproductive technologies are inhuman and a form of violence therefore, as surrogacy
becomes more popular, legal problems proliferate. Reproductive technologies such as In Vitro
Fertilization and surrogacyare a form of violence against women because they technologically
ravage women s bodies. In Vitro Fertilization is a medical procedure that s done where an egg is
fertilized by sperm in a test tube (Raymond 1). The procedure is just inhuman in many ways, the

In one case a gay couple were able to purchase eggs for a surrogate mother for two
newborns(Devine 1). Here is where commercial surrogacy causes the children to be at risk.
There is no guarantee that pedophiles will not be able to buy and raise their victims, since there
is a egg and sperm donor. No one with a physical link can protect the child due to lack of natural
nurturing links put the child at a greater risk of abuse(Devine 1) . There are many questions
from everyone, What if these people do not have the right intentions? How do we know the
surrogate mother will take care of the baby until they are born? Questions that go through
everyone s head all the time. If you have to worry about these questions or just be unsure of it
then it should be illegal. people who are unsure about drugs, or a new medication they should
take makes them double guess it. Most of the time if they have to double guess it, they do not do
it. The ultimate horror of the 21st century science is that if you have enough money you can buy
a helpless newborn baby and do whatever they liked to with it in the privacy of their own home.
There is nothing nobody can do to stop it(Devine 2). Commercial surrogacy is not something
people should not turn to when looking for a child for whatever reasons they may have. If
people were to think about it, like they do not know the surrogate mother. The surrogate mother
doesn t get a background check nor does the family getting the baby. So literally anyone with the
money can get this child. They could possibly harm the child but yet no one will never know. At
least with adoption agencies they look into families background and make sure they are fit to
raise someone else s child. There has been some cases where famous people have turned to
surrogacy such as Michael Jackson. The $250 million pop

Increased Military Spending During the Cold War Brought...
The increase in military spending is another argument that caused stagnation in the Soviet Union
during the period. Brezhnev spent huge amount of money in the defense sector and according to
Blanchard Froot et al. (1994) the share of defense spending in GNP was 12% in 1960 70, and
increased by 4% in 1975 80 to 16%, even though the country was is deep economic crisis. Brezhnev
increased military spending each year; even as the country needed the spending in other important
sectors, to boots the growth of the country, and caused low level of economic development.

weapons. During this time in history both the superpower, USA and Soviet Union... Show more

The doctrine made it possible for the country to intervene in another socialist state (any Eastern
Bloc nation), internal affairs when the state social system and the states common interests were
threatened. In early 1968 began the Czechoslovak Communist Party under the leadership of
Alexander DubДЌek to introduce a series of reforms, including the abolition of censorship
(Fordham.edu, 2014). In response to these efforts, the Soviet Union launched a policy to combat
anti socialist forces (Wilde, 2014). The doctrine was first used in 1968 when the Soviet Union
invaded Czechoslovakia to end the Prague Spring (Fordham, 2014). The outcome of the invasion
by the Soviet Union made Czechoslovakia go back to communist control, even if it meant a third
world war (BBC, 2014). Mikhail Gorbachev s government denounced the Brezhnev doctrine in the
late of Soviet Union s life. Policy change does not necessarily come with leadership change. Russia
is a fundamentally different society than the Soviet Union. Communism is replaced by capitalism,
Russians can travel abroad and Internet revolution has long since reached the country. Russia
connoisseurs are comparing just the Putin controlled period, which the country is in now, with 18

Langston Hughes And Gwendolyn Brooks
Langston Hughes and Gwendolyn Brooks are regarded as highly influential poets in African
American literature, which continues to inspire writers to this day. Langston Hughes is a well
known pioneer of the Harlem Renaissance, a movement in which African Americans in Harlem
during post World War I and the early 1930 s began a cultural and artistic revolution. During this
time, African Americanmusicians, artists, writers, and poets revolutionized their position in and
through many artistic fields of expression. This cultural and artistic revolution redefined how
America viewed the African American population, which garnered respect and criticism from
Americans nationwide. Gwendolyn Brooks, an African American poet also in the 19th century, was
introduced to Langston Hughesat a young age peeking her interest in the Harlem Renaissance that
eventually became a foundation and influence in her writing. Gwendolyn Brooks and Langston
Hughes share similarities in the writing as she was highly inspired by Langston Hughes, but also
share many differences that are responsible for making their pieces of writing unique to other
authors and each other.
Gwendolyn Brooks often expressed the prejudices of being an African American in her writing. In
her 1959 popular poem We Real Cool, published as part of The Bean Eaters (Layng), Gwendolyn
Brooks educates readers on what often befell African American youths that chose to leave school
and engage in illegal activities. The poem describes

Why Choose The Caribbean
The Caribbean doesn t seem so impressive when you look at a map of the location. It s just a
bunch of little specks surrounded by tons of ocean water. Names like Caicos Island, Turks, and
Nevis... Saint Kitts, Anguilla and Montserrat aren t exactly household names. But, just because
the names aren t all too familiar, it doesn t change the fact that the Caribbean is a very popular
vacation destination. The little specks on the map are actually island paradises. There are over
seven thousand islets, reefs, islands and caves in the Caribbean just begging to be explored; so
many of them are nearly unpopulated and absolutely gorgeous. In choosing your Caribbean
vacation, the largest challenge you are apt to face is exactly where to go. All nations in the
Caribbean have beautiful weather. Most of the islands feature lovely beaches. The warm,
beautiful, crystal waters are immensely enjoyable and just as with any other island nation, the
locals will welcome you with warm smiles and open arms. Picking the destination is indeed the
toughest challenge. Here are some great resources that will help you do the necessary research to
choose the best locale for your holiday.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

flights you just might find that the price tags for those tickets just keep going up and up as the

The Realization Of Lily In The Wild, By Edith Wharton
Lily was raised to believe that marriage was her reason for existence, she was simply business
transaction. The men sit back and wait for a girl to marry, whereas I have to calculate and
contrive, and retreat and advance, as if I were going through and intricate dance, where one
misstep would throw me hopelessly out of time (Wharton 38). Yet Wharton establishes that Lily
would not merely marry a man just for his money, She leaned forward, holding the tip of her
cigarette to his (Wharton 7), Lawrence Selden. A Lawyer who makes Lily question that possibly
the business nature of marriagecould adapt into an act of loveand pleasure. Wharton questions the

Whether she was prepared to admit it or not pleasure was the life Lily needed to uncover to
move on. A life without love was no life for Miss Lily Bart, for after each failed attempt at
business she ran to Selden. The real Lily Bart was only ever alive when Selden was near, Lily
realised it, but it was too late, I have kept her with me all this time, but now we are going to part,
and I have brought her back to you I am going to leave her here. When I go out presently she will
not go with me. I shall like to think that she has stayed with you and she ll be no trouble. she ll
take up no room (Wharton 251). Lily chooses pleasure, but she has chosen too late in her life, for
her to truly take pleasure from Selden. She leaves the real Lily Bart in Selden s care, so she
knows the will be happy and live a pleasurable life, She went up to him and laid her hands on his
shoulders. Goodbye, she said, and as he bent over her she touched his forehead with her lips
(Wharton 252). Lily had lived her life and made it to the most important, She had been unhappy,
and now she was happy she had felt herself alone, and now the sense of loneliness had vanished
(Wharton 262) Then there was Selden, she must tell Selden, some word she had found that should

The Epic, Gilphash, And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
In the realm of a mythic story, a myth can possess the ability to reshape a world, because its stories
do not have limitations (Paden 79). Within William Padens argument about myths, he discusses the
benefits of believing in a mythic story, because mythic stories can build the world (Paden 84). With
the help of the epic of Gilgamesh, this myth will help to create a connection between the statement
by William Paden, and the character of Gilgamesh. By creating a connection between these two
texts, the theory of love, unavoidable fate of death, and the imbalance of power are the reoccurring
themes and theories that are the building blocks to the statement by William Paden.
By connecting the epic of Gilgamesh to how it can build a world, there is a certain theme and
theory that can be connected. In the epic of Gilgamesh, the love that Gilgamesh had for Enkidu is
the motivating factor that helps Gilgamesh become a noble king. By 2100 BCE, Gilgamesh was
the king of Uruk, but had terrorized his people and couldn t tame his energy (Dalley 51). When
the people of Uruk had asked the gods to get Gilgamesh a rival, Enkidu was born (Dalley 53).
After Gilgamesh and Enkidu had countless stalemated battles and became best friends, the love that
Gilgamesh had for Enkidu during and after his death had caused Gilgamesh to become a civilized
and moral human being (Dalley 61). Within the constructs of building a better world, Enkidu can be
paralleled to a female parent that helps their

I Am Requesting A Withdrawal From A Second Course
The main reason I am requesting a withdrawal from a fourth course is due to strong generalized
anxiety and its disruptive effect on my ability to function as a student. My issues with academic
anxiety have been an ongoing problem in my college career. I started seeing counselors as a student
in Washington University in St. Louis during the spring 2013 semester and have been continually
receiving intervention for my diagnosis since then. Due to anxietyand psychological difficulties, the
university granted my medical withdrawalfor the next semester so I could get a professional
diagnosis of my anxiety.
In order to have more support, I moved back to Jacksonville to stay with my parents and received
a professional psychological evaluation on May 2013 which confirmed that I struggled with
high levels of generalized anxiety, as seen by the provided documentation. Some early life
events have caused unpleasant subconscious feelings of fear and worry especially in regards to
school. Two of my three lower level course withdrawals here at UNF were taken during this
medical withdrawal period in fall 2013 as a transient student. I was trying to manage my anxiety
just recently having discovered my diagnoses and unfortunately had to withdraw from both Algebra
Based Physics and Calculus III. I was listed as a transient student and slated to return to my
previous institution, so I sadly did not report the reasons for my withdrawal being paralyzing
anxiety. I have been attending University

Evil And Socialism In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
! Upton Sinclair s The Jungle is about an immigrant family who moved to America for opportunities
and found themselves in the Gilded Age. The conditions of the factories, housing and workers were
disgusting. Social Darwinism is shown throughout the book with tons of different characters and
metaphors. Upton Sinclairs purpose and main theme for the book was that Capitalism is evil and
Socialism should replace it.
During the book it shows the effect that capitalism has on Jurgis as he slowly deteriorates. It also
shows other characters and how they deal with the pressure of trying to survive. Some of the
people did some terrible things to stay alive and thriving.
! Social Darwinism is when people do whatever they have to do to survive. The people in The
Jungle do terrible things to stay ahead of the game. One example is when
Conner denies everything in court so Jurgis gets thrown in jail. If Conner had told the truth
Conner might have gone to jail too and that would ruin his reputation. Another example would
be when Marija had to turn to prostitution so she could make enough money to survive. She
could have gotten arrested, simply because she was trying to live. A lot of people rationalize
their actions with the simple fact of if they didn t do these things, they cant support themselves or
their families. The managers of Packingtown seem to have the mentality that their life has been
terrible so why should their workers have it any better? Conner is an Irish immigrant so he
understands how hard it is to be an immigrant in America, yet he still treats Jurgis and Ona
terribly. It isn t very common to find someone that will help you out and be your friend.
Throughout the novel, Jurgis witnesses more and more people that he cares about die. There isn t
anything he can do about it because they don t have enough money. Eventually Jurgis starts to do
everything he can to find a job or at least money. People are taking his money and cheating him
out of his money. When Jurgis lived on the streets begging, he was stripped of his dignity. Jurgis
ran into Jack Duane again and fully went to the dark side.
He turns into a street thief and starts swindling people just like he had been when he first got to
America. He went from

  • 11. Fat Tax Rebuttal Fat Tax: Rebuttal The fat tax is a proposed tax on certain unhealthy foods that lead to the development of certain medical conditions such as obesity. As obesity is a growing concern of many Americans, arguments can be made about how effective a fat tax may be if implemented. The opposing group argues that the implementation of a fat tax would discourage the consumption of unhealthy foods, reduce costs of medical treatment, and obtain government funding. Although our opposition has some strong points, there are still unanswered questions that need to be addressed. The opposition claims that a fat tax would deter Americans from eating harmful junk food. They compare a fat tax to the sin tax on cigarettes, which they claim has lowered cigarette usage in America. However, much like cigarettes, fatty foods are filled with addictive chemicals that make people crave more (Engber). However, they fail to mention that the decline of cigarettes is also attributed to strict laws on their usage and the new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oscar Wilde Individualism Essay The famous Irish writer Oscar Wilde is perhaps best known for his individualistic ideas about art and life as well as for his homosexuality, which was not only frowned upon in Victorian society, but illegal. Despite this however, Wilde was influenced heavily by the inescapable pressure from society to conform. He revelled in being a part of the Victorian upper class, which had strict rules, whether spoken or unspoken, to dictate the behaviour of everyone in high society. The four comedic plays that centred on satirizing this very society earned Wilde most of his fame, especially The Importance of Being Earnest, an amusing story focusing on pretending to be someone else for the sake of both reputation and pleasure. He also reveals his increased individualism through the contrasting tones of De Profundis (written during and after prison) and The Importance of Being Earnest (written before prison). While Earnest is cheerful and extravagant to appeal to society, De Profundis is sad and realistic, showing that Wilde no longer cared what society thought about him after his exile from the upper class lifestyle. In addition, Earnest s exaggerated, theatrical, happy ending evokes a distinct feeling that Wilde means the direct opposite. Especially knowing that the play was written as satire, it seems unlikely that he really believed that all the characters in that situation would end up with exactly what they wanted and no consequences. Jack s final line, I ve now realized for the first time in my life the vital Importance of Being Earnest (Wilde, 2005, p.79), seems especially sarcastic, and rather than saying that being honest ( earnest ) is the reason everyone ends up perfectly content, it reads as a warning that unless one maintains society s definition of earnest , he will inevitably suffer the ... • 23. How A Company Needs Help Expand Into New Markets A company needs funds to expand into new markets, while governments need money for everything from infrastructure to social programs. The problem large organizations run into is that they typically need far more money than the average bank can provide. The solution is to raise money by issuing bonds (or other debt instruments) to a public market. Thousands of investors then each lend a portion of the capital needed. Really, a bondis nothing more than a loan for which you are the lender. The organization that sells a bond is known as the issuer. The bond market(also debt market or credit market) is a financial marketwhere participants can issue new debt, known as the primary market, or buy and sell debt securities, known as the secondary market. This is usually in the form of bonds, but it may include notes, bills. A bond s price fluctuates throughout its life in response to a number of variables. When a bond trades at a price above the face value, it is said to be selling at a premium. When a bond sells below face value, it is said to be selling at a discount. The coupon is the amount the bondholder will receive as interest payments. It s called a coupon because sometimes there are physical coupons on the bond that you tear off and redeem for interest. • 25. The Effects Of Leptin On Other Human Obese Gene Located On... Leptin is a protein containing 166 amino acids and is the product of human obese gene located on chromosome 7q31.3. Leptin is produced mainly by adipose tissue. It is also synthesized in small amounts in other human tissues such as the stomach, heart, mammary epithelium , placenta, ovaries, skeletal muscle, pituitary, and liver (Muoio et al., 2002). After leptin is secreted by the adipose tissue, it enters the brain through the bloodstream. Gastric leptin may also reach hypothalamus through the vagal nerve and nucleus solitarius. Effects of leptin on various systems have been reported, including reproduction, immune system, hematopoesis, angiogenesis, bone formation and wound healing. It plays an important role in energy balance by inhibiting energy intake contrary to ghrelin, and by regulating body weight and energy homeostasis (Moran Phillip, 2003). The expression of leptin by adipose tissue is also influenced by feeding behaviour. Short term (12 h) or long term (2 or 8 weeks) overfeeding results in an increase in adipocyte leptin expression and circulating leptin in healthy human subjects. Furthermore, circulating leptin levels show a diurnal pattern and are influenced by gender, age, exercise and glucose uptake (Table 3). It seems that diabetics are more susceptible to periodontal diseases due to both a hyper inflammatory component leading to more tissue destruction as well as an impaired immune response, which could delay /impair host s natural healing/regenerative capabilities during the disease course. In China, over 100,000 government enforcers work to censor or block unwanted information from Chinese and foreign websites. Much of this information being shot down includes talk of democracy, the very opposite of the Chinese Communist Party s ideas. Censorship of internet and media in China has been brought by its Communist government who have wanted to shield the Chinese people from undesired ideas, such as democracy, that could start a large revolt of citizens demanding government reforms. On October 1, 1949, Mao Zedongfounded the People s Republic of China after he and his Communist supporters defeated the nationalists, beginning a new era for China of strict totalitarian rule. The amount of time that a non critical path activity can be delayed without the project is referred to as a slack time. The Rococomovement focused on creating an atmosphere of sensuality and luxury in the social salons. The use of bright color in the love stories, extreme detail portraying naughty scenes and nature is how the artist chose to create their work. They told classical, fanciful love stories to the wealth French society. In contrast to this fanciful style the geared towards the wealthy, the post impressionists chose to use art as a way of expression and showing their imagination while experimenting with different styles. Some flies prefer indoors or outdoors for laying eggs, and some prefer the shade or sunlit areas. Furthermore, a delay or absence of eggs in the typical colonization time may indicate the body was frozen, sealed in a sealed container, or buried very deep. Finally, in a violent death or abuse, certain flies are attracted to urine, feces, or blood. By collecting these insects a forensic entomologist can yield important information about a victim prior to their death, but also postmortem, by using DNA technology that can use the blood found in an insect from the victim to establish a link between victim and a suspect (Byrd, 2014). • 36. The Bloody Chamber Symbolism In The Bloody Chamber, Angela Carter tells the tale of a seventeen year old girl who marries an older, wealthy Marquis. Like many other clever authors, Carter gives the reader an opportunity to determine the outcome of the story before the ending is reached through her symbolism and allusions which foreshadow the ending. In doing so, she not only provides insight into what will happen next but also further develops each of the characters through these complex symbols that she incorporates throughout the story. Carter first alludes to the outcome of the story by introducing the ruby choker that the Marquis gave as a wedding gift within the first few pages of the narrative. She describes it as, a choker of rubies, two inches wide, like an extraordinarily precious slit throat (6). The reader can infer a considerable amount from this one simple... Regardless of whether or not the reader had missed the clues that Carter left earlier in the story, this reference to the choker is much more explicit, as it contrasts the dark ruby color with the bright white dress. This illustrates the theme of innocence versus violence, which is seen all throughout the story. The explicit revelation of the necklace prefiguring her end shows that the symbolism that Carter incorporated in the story begins subtler and becomes more straightforward towards the end. While not all of Carter s elements of foreshadowing may have been as lengthy and apparent as the ruby red choker, not a single one fell short of its quality and effectiveness in helping her to reach the overall effect of building anticipation and increasing tensions throughout the ... Globalization has several different areas including the globalization of markets and of production. The Globalization of markets is the blending of different markets from different nations into one large global marketplace. Cross border trading has made it easier to sell internationally. Companies can sell standardized products efficiently and effectively all over the world thus helping to build a global marketplace. The globalization of production refers to the sourcing of goods and services from locations around the globe to take advantage of national differences in the cost and quality of factors of production (such as labor, energy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many major drivers for globalization. There are two factors that seem to drive the trend toward greater globalization. The first factor is the decline in international trade barriers that has occurred since the end of World War II. Once the barriers were removed then international trade had a chance to grow and change the economy to a more global one. Tariffs were fees charged on top off the cost of imported goods. The hope was to deter people from choosing the imports, instead choosing the domestic goods. Once the tariffs were stopped, many more people were able to buy and sell imported goods. The second factor is the numerous technological advancements in recent years pertaining to communication, information processing, and transportation technologies. The development of the microprocessor was a huge step forward in computing technology. The microprocessor allowed growth of high powered, low cost computers that could handle much more information than ever before. This enabled countries to grow their education and manufacturing capabilities greatly in order to compete in a global market place. Lastly, containerization has forever changed the transportation business by lowering the costs of shipping goods over long distances. Before containerization, it cost time, money, and labor when shipping items over many miles. In the 1970s and 1980s, once containerization took charge, then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In contrast, in the present case Park City University implemented just seven women s teams between 1970 and 1990 followed by their last expansion in 2003. • 44. Analysis Of Jealous Extremaduran And Deceitful Marriage The exemplary novels are timeless not only for the stories they tell, but also for the vivid ways in which they depict society at the time when these stories were written. Through the analysis of Cervantes s Jealous Extremaduran and Deceitful Marriage, one is able to see and dissect the many jobs and roles played by people in society during the 16th and 17th centuries in Spain. In the story entitled The Jealous Extremaduran, Cervantes exhibits the roles of a hidalgo turned indiano, poor aristocrat, child of a merchant, and multiple slaves. In this story, a man named Felipe de Carrizales is born into vast wealth and depicted as a Hidalgo, or a nobleman. He spends it all upon finite entities and becomes stripped of all affluence. He then goes to the New World, becomes rich and returns to his homeland of Spain as an indiano. He subsequently falls in love with a young and beautiful girl, Leonora, and marries her. Leonora is a great representation of the aristocracy in Spain, because she is born with a good family, but does not possess any sort of wealth. Many people in Spain at this time had an aristocratic title, but only a select few held the wealth due to the practice of mayorazgo. Those like Leonora in society at that time were known as segundГіnes. The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask ourselves what is social justice? As defined by (Walker, 1999, p.9). Social justice is mutual responsibility it insists that we all accept duties as well as rights to each other and to society . Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and how these 5 causes have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The path to a better future, these contend, lies in a better understanding and appreciation of how the injustices of the past affect patterns of oppression today (Spinner Halev, 2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate many years ago has now become what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of explaining what these 5 tenants of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language whilst giving us examples of how these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant both past and present is briefly explained to us in the introduction of the book, but Dorling delves deeper into each tenant in such greater detail in later chapters. Each chapter shows us how these tenants affect /have affected certain domains within our society. These new tenants/faces of injustice nowadays are stated as: Elitism, Exclusion, Prejudice, Greed and Despair. Old evils/faces that were once said to cause social injustice were due to a lack of: Education (ignorance), Money (want) Work (idleness) Comfort (squalor) and Health (disease). • 55. The Epic, Gilphash, And The Epic Of Gilgamesh In the realm of a mythic story, a myth can possess the ability to reshape a world, because its stories do not have limitations (Paden 79). Within William Padens argument about myths, he discusses the benefits of believing in a mythic story, because mythic stories can build the world (Paden 84). With the help of the epic of Gilgamesh, this myth will help to create a connection between the statement by William Paden, and the character of Gilgamesh. By creating a connection between these two texts, the theory of love, unavoidable fate of death, and the imbalance of power are the reoccurring themes and theories that are the building blocks to the statement by William Paden. By connecting the epic of Gilgamesh to how it can build a world, there is a certain theme and theory that can be connected. In the epic of Gilgamesh, the love that Gilgamesh had for Enkidu is the motivating factor that helps Gilgamesh become a noble king. By 2100 BCE, Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, but had terrorized his people and couldn t tame his energy (Dalley 51). When the people of Uruk had asked the gods to get Gilgamesh a rival, Enkidu was born (Dalley 53). After Gilgamesh and Enkidu had countless stalemated battles and became best friends, the love that Gilgamesh had for Enkidu during and after his death had caused Gilgamesh to become a civilized and moral human being (Dalley 61). Within the constructs of building a better world, Enkidu can be paralleled to a female parent that helps their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. I Am Requesting A Withdrawal From A Second Course The main reason I am requesting a withdrawal from a fourth course is due to strong generalized anxiety and its disruptive effect on my ability to function as a student. My issues with academic anxiety have been an ongoing problem in my college career. I started seeing counselors as a student in Washington University in St. Louis during the spring 2013 semester and have been continually receiving intervention for my diagnosis since then. Due to anxietyand psychological difficulties, the university granted my medical withdrawalfor the next semester so I could get a professional diagnosis of my anxiety. In order to have more support, I moved back to Jacksonville to stay with my parents and received a professional psychological evaluation on May 2013 which confirmed that I struggled with high levels of generalized anxiety, as seen by the provided documentation. Some early life events have caused unpleasant subconscious feelings of fear and worry especially in regards to school. Two of my three lower level course withdrawals here at UNF were taken during this medical withdrawal period in fall 2013 as a transient student. I was trying to manage my anxiety just recently having discovered my diagnoses and unfortunately had to withdraw from both Algebra Based Physics and Calculus III. I was listed as a transient student and slated to return to my previous institution, so I sadly did not report the reasons for my withdrawal being paralyzing anxiety. I have been attending University ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Evil And Socialism In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle ! Upton Sinclair s The Jungle is about an immigrant family who moved to America for opportunities and found themselves in the Gilded Age. The conditions of the factories, housing and workers were disgusting. Social Darwinism is shown throughout the book with tons of different characters and metaphors. Upton Sinclairs purpose and main theme for the book was that Capitalism is evil and Socialism should replace it. During the book it shows the effect that capitalism has on Jurgis as he slowly deteriorates. It also shows other characters and how they deal with the pressure of trying to survive. Some of the people did some terrible things to stay alive and thriving. ! Social Darwinism is when people do whatever they have to do to survive. The people in The Jungle do terrible things to stay ahead of the game. One example is when Conner denies everything in court so Jurgis gets thrown in jail. If Conner had told the truth Conner might have gone to jail too and that would ruin his reputation. Another example would be when Marija had to turn to prostitution so she could make enough money to survive. She could have gotten arrested, simply because she was trying to live. A lot of people rationalize their actions with the simple fact of if they didn t do these things, they cant support themselves or their families. The managers of Packingtown seem to have the mentality that their life has been terrible so why should their workers have it any better? Conner is an Irish immigrant so he understands how hard it is to be an immigrant in America, yet he still treats Jurgis and Ona terribly. It isn t very common to find someone that will help you out and be your friend. Throughout the novel, Jurgis witnesses more and more people that he cares about die. There isn t anything he can do about it because they don t have enough money. Eventually Jurgis starts to do everything he can to find a job or at least money. People are taking his money and cheating him out of his money. When Jurgis lived on the streets begging, he was stripped of his dignity. Jurgis ran into Jack Duane again and fully went to the dark side. He turns into a street thief and starts swindling people just like he had been when he first got to America. He went from ...
