Illuminati Research Papers
This beady eye is all seeing, all knowing and all powerful. It is allegedly the symbol of an
influential secret society known as the Illuminati (Waugh). The group known as the Illuminati is a
cult that conspiracy theorist say control are everyday lives. The Illuminati have gotten into people
s everyday lives and nobody knows the reason of how or why they did. Many people have not
even heard of the Illuminati or what they are about. The ones that know what the Illuminati is see
the group as a tall tale passed down through the ages. This is because the Illuminati is trying to stay
hidden and in the shadows. The members of the Illuminati supposedly know more about what is
going on than the outsiders do (Waugh). We know the Illuminati from the definition that is given
by society and what makes the organization, along with members and... Show more content on

Some say that it was the Illuminati trying to test their hologram machine. The alleged plan is to
throw a hologram into the sky of a God like figure telling us to go with the Illuminati just in a
more sly, Godly way (Dawson). The Illuminati is most likely getting this plan up and running as
a way to influence the followers of Christ when the desired time comes. When this happens the
most likely case is that all of the non believers of Christ are already influenced and ready to
follow them. Even in the 1970s people knew about this. John Todd was known for talking about
how UFOs were part of the Illuminati s plan. However, when it became well known he just
mysteriously disappeared (Xendrius). Is it just a coincidence he disappeared? Many think not. The
government and the Illuminati have the power to make anyone they want go away . To a large
extent the Illuminati already have us wrapped around their theoretical finger. So if you see a God
like figure in the sky telling you to do something sketchy, remember that Shane Dawson warned you
about this and to not follow them

Reflection Of Writing Poetry
I have always been interested in systems and structures. As a child I enjoyed the challenge of
writing poetry, the intense structures mirrored in sentence fragments and the chaos of words.
Somewhere along the way this semester I remember listening in on a conversation about
rhyming words, we are obsessed with rhyming. As a lover of poetry I began to ponder why we
love rhyming words so much, my conclusion is that it gives a through line of sound in a chaotic
language. Education is much like poetry, it finds itself grounded in structure but there are little
nuances along the way that allow chaos to form, shifting the ideal into reality. As said by John
Dewey in 1916 in Democracy and Education, ... there is a kind of passivity, willingness to let
experiences accumulate and sink in and ripen which is essential of development... we are all
instructors to realize that quality of mental process, not the production of correct answers, is the
measure of educative growth... (Allen, 2011, p.30). If my brain was a filing cabinet at the start of
the semester everything I thoughtit knew got thrown on the floor, as time passed and I organised my
thoughts new documents began to find their way into the piles, changing the system that was
previously created. Growth, reflection and perception have dominated my thought processes this
semester, the through line is assessment. Assessment regarding learningbut also assessment as
reflection of thought, convergent, divergent and lateral modes of thinking. The three modes of
thinking are as follows described in teachthought.com, convergent being logical and critical
thinking, Divergent being imaginative and creative thinking and lastly, lateral being both
convergent and divergent in balance with each other equalling thinking outside the box (Staff,
2017). When reflecting on my semester it is important to me to consider all areas of growth in my
journey. From the flow of chaos in the classroom to the filing cabinet that holds all my theory and
the mode of thought that I approach my daily activities with.
Understanding the pragmatics of something requires us to first go to the roots, the classroom
culture. At the beginning of the semester I thought of culture being how an external

Pathetic Fallacy In The Red Pony
The fourth theme of nature is that the natural events imply profound messages. In The Red
Pony, it is described by the pathetic fallacy. This literary term refers to the presentation of
inanimate objects in nature as possessing human feelings. Steinbeck especially uses the weather
to foreshadow upcoming events and to symbolize the mood and emotion of the characters. For
example, rain is one of the causes of death in this story. In The Gift, Jody wishes that it does not
rain before Thanksgiving. Jody s father has told Jody that he can ride the pony on the day of
Thanksgiving, because it will be all grown up by then. Jody tries to act on his father s words, so
he does not put his legs on the horse s back, waiting for the day of getting upon Gabilan. However,
the brown earth turns dark and the trees glistens (21). Unfortunately, the week of rain beats up...

In the beginning of The Leader of the People, Billy gathers the last of the year s hay. Then, Jody
tells him that he is going to kill the mice with his grandfather that day (90). Jody takes a broom
and begins the mouse hunt. When Jody sees the dead mice, he sighs with satisfaction (77). He
describes that the plump, sleek, arrogant mice are doomed (77). Jody sees his obligation to kill
the mice because they do not have any reason of being alive. Thus, he continues the process of
slaughter; however, Billy stops him and tells him to come back home. Jody goes back to his house
and tells Billy that the mice do not know the near future of their life (77). Then, Billy responds
philosophically No, nor you either...nor me, nor anyone (91), meaning that nobody on earth can see
the future. From Billy and Jody s conversation, Steinbeck suggests that living things cannot control
what is going to happen; instead, the future controls them. Namely, nature rules over everything,
and human beings do not have any power in

Black Gibbon Research Paper
Introduction
Considered to be the world s greatest acrobats, the endangerment of gibbons proves to be a very
big deal. Using their powerful ability to brachiate, they can leap distances of 40 feet at speeds of
up to 35 mph while 200 feet above the ground, greater than any trapeze artist in our days. These
important primates include some of the rarest in the world, such as the Eastern black gibbon.
(Gibbon Conservation Center, 2012). These omnivorous mammals weigh from 9 to 25 pounds, and
won t reach over 25 inches in size. Unfortunately, most gibbon species are highly endangered. (All
About Wildlife, 2014)
Natives to the forests of Southeast, South and East Asia, gibbons can be found in Thailand, China,
Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia (Gibbon
Conservation Center, 2012). Gibbons are highly adapted to life in the trees and rarely ever will
come down to the ground. Their hook shaped hands, long arms, and powerful legs allow for
brachiating at amazing heights and distances. While brachiating, gibbons can move at speeds up to
35 miles an hour (All About Wildlife, 2014).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan Challenger Disaster
Ronald Reagan Challenger Disaster Address to the Nation After the seven astronauts, engineers,
and Christa McAuliffe, a history teacher selected to be part of the mission, were killed in the
terrible shuttle Challenger explosion, Ronald Reagan had the unbelievable job of explaining it
to the country. Millions across the country were watching as the shuttle caught in flames and
then exploded only 73 seconds after lift off. It was later determined that two rubber O rings,
designed to separate the sections of the rocket booster, had failed due to cold temperatures on
the morning of the launch (http://www.history.com/topics/challenger disaster). Reagan gave his
speech at 5 pm on January 28, 1986 from the Oval Office at the White House, broadcasted live
on nationwide radio and television. Reagan knew that he had to make it plain to them that life
does go on and you don t back up and quit some worthwhile endeavor because of tragedy .
Reagan called in a relatively unknown speechwriter who would go on to pen some of the most
famous phrases uttered by presidents, like President George H.W Bush s thousand points of light ,
Peggy Noonan. Reagan started his speech simply with, Today is a day for... Show more content on

The Role Of Women In Matthew LewisThe Monk And The Italian
Matthew Lewis The Monk differs from Ann Radcliffe s The Italian in its portrayal of women.
Since both The Monk and The Italian feature prominent female religious leaders, comparing the
different ways The Monk and The Italian portray this specific group of women sheds light on each
author s attitude toward female agency. The latter refers to the ability to exercise control in
pursuing individual goals. Both The Monkand The Italian depict tyrannical head nuns abusing their
agency. However, the horrific descriptions and exclusive focus on diabolical nuns in The Monk
exudes a pessimistic attitude towards female agency as invariably leading to catastrophes. By
contrast, The Italian reveals a more optimistic attitude towards female agency through its more
subtle depiction of the cruel nuns and its acknowledgement of benevolent nuns, proposing that
female agency can be channeled to good causes. In The Monk, the Prioress abuses her agency in
tyrannical ways. The Prioress imprisons women and rules by fear, oppressing the women within her
convent. She consider[s] [women of rank] quitting the Convent, as a disgrace thrown upon it and
will use every artifice to avoid [that] (169). Not only does she imprison women, she also subdues
them by fear as seen by how Mother St. Ursula describes her fear that her every action [is]
observed, [her] every step [is] traced and that [she is] constantly surrounded by the Superior s spies
(273). The Prioress tyrannically condemns women like

Opportunity Reed Reflection
I look forward to the opportunity Reed offers, to share something of value with the community
during Paideia. The Greek word not only means education, as the prompt indicates; it also connotes
the development of the ideal citizen, requiring discipline and emotional health as well as content
learning. The experience I have had that comes closest to this is the work of being in the present
moment. Often called mindfulness, it s a tool for opening oneself up to a deep educationof the mind,
body and spirit; along with significant connections to the intellectual pursuits of neuroscience and
psychology.
I believe the mindfulness movement sprung from monastic requirements, rather than from
academic psychology or practical medicine, even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While I feel insufficiently trained to teach official MBSR, I would be glad to share not only what I
have learned about it, my passion and curiosity, but also how it can help others.
I see this class as especially pertinent to Reed because of its honor code. The principle of honor
requires that people have both integrity and mutual respect. One must be able to calmly and clearly
evaluate a course of action and a fair minded attitude towards it. For these goals there may be no
better prescription than calm abiding in the present moment.
Cultivating more skillful ways of responding to stress and distress is one of my goals, and another
is to share something I have found so beneficial for my mental health and general well being. The
learning, and its practice involve group activities and connection at their core, key aspects of a
comprehensive college education. Think of all the things college freshmen go through: leaving
home for the first time, interacting with different and new people in a community, test anxiety,
regulating sleep/eating in a new environment. Learning what is most healthy and good could all be

Fuel Cell Disadvantages
Hydrogen fuel cells are an emerging technology that could be the next mass produced energy
source of the future. The application of hydrogen as a fuel source can be used to power cars,
homes, and even cell phones. Hydrogen is the most abundant molecule in the universe. The
most profound use for hydrogen fuel cells will be for vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cells will
revolutionize the automobile industry. Hydrogen fuel has been used by NASA since the early
1970s to launch space stations and other rockets into orbit (Renewable Energy World). A fuel
cell combines hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity, heat, and water. Fuel cells are often
compared to batteries. Both convert the energy produced by a chemical reaction into usable
electric power. However, the fuel cell will produce electricity as long as fuel (hydrogen) is
supplied, never losing its charge (Renewable Energy World). There has been a big push in recent
years for automobile companies to produce lower emission producing vehicles. Hydrogen fuel
cell powered vehicles can help to solve the issue. Hydrogen is clean burning, producing only
water vaper as waste. Hydrogen Fuel cell vehicles will be zero emission, reducing air pollution
(Bernard Meyerson). Fuel cell offer all the same benefits as conventional fuel powered cars with
cruising range up to 500 miles. To refill a take with hydrogen will take about three minutes, about
the same amount of time as traditional fuel fill ups. Down side is the first production of

Speech About Corruption In The Philippines
Opening Sentences: Corruption has always been one of the major problems of the world
especially in politics. It has caused political fights, undermines democracy and good governance by
flouting or even subverting formal processes for each other or just put in every penny in their
pocket from their own countrymen without them even knowing it. In order to stop these incidents
the people should be more educated in the world of politics so that they can be aware and stop the
spread of corruption in the government. The Philippines is no stranger to these problems The

That is why the people should act as one sharing their values but also wanting them to be achieved.
If we want to stop corruption in the Philippines, we should stop all corruptions that are happening
inside the Philippines. We should fight all the corrupt Filipinos, whether they are politicians or they
are just simply our fellow countrymen. To the Filipinos these are the values that should be made
real. Like stopping the spread of corruption in the government. The government cannot work
without the people and vice versa it is a relationship that should work both ways and the two parties
meeting halfway or reaching in a understanding because it would be impossible to stop corruption
alone. (John, 2010) And by doing this we become more aware of corruption in our government
officials and the public can help the government by reporting them and showing disapproval or
shunning the corrupt politicians out of the government. (Martinez, 1999) Corruption deprives the

Writing By Omission By John Mcphee Summary
Try Greening That
The first article listed to read was Writing by Omission by John McPhee, which I found to be an
interesting lens to inspect the three pieces from the The Globe and Mail we chose to read. Out of
the four readings of the week, Writing by Omission was by far the most insightful. McPhee uses
his own tribulations as a writer in the industry to illustrate his notion that writing is selection. Every
word, paragraph, and chapter must be selected amongst a great arc of potentialities available to the
writer, and it is the author s grand task to carefully choose the most appropriate next piece.
McPhee recounts his time trying to select the best words to be left behind from his manuscripts
and what should be restored and what shouldn t be. The idea of greening a paper comes from his
work at Time, where the articles had to fit a specified number of lines. The authors were told to
Green 5, and had no choice but to comply by removing five entire lines from their work. The
practice, McPhee argues, forces the writer to make the most out of what they have and how
making a piece tighter and more restricted enhances its appeal. I can t help but wonder how many
lines could be greened from my own reflective papers, or my ... Show more content on

Advantages Of Sensitivity Analysis
In proper terms, the risk is related with project can be well defined as the changeability that is
probably to take place in the forthcoming earnings from the project. The larger the inconsistency of
the predictable returns will indicate the riskier project. On the other hand, risk can be restrained
more accurately. From the research, it has been found out that there are many significant in capital
budgeting in which it will directly affected the firms. For some reasons, capital budgeting is
important in term that the project will be approved via the capital budgeting. Thus, the firms
become knotted to the project and lose some of its flexibility during the project. Other than that, the
decision making in order to purchase the assets and cost will need forecasting analysis of the

Logo Movie Analysis
Logan: A Stand Out Superhero Movie
In the past few years, the superhero genre has risen into the movie industry. This year alone, six
superhero movies were released. The superhero genre is popular among young adults. While big
studios like Marvel and DC are competing for audiences, many overlook Fox studio, which has
been making critically acclaimed superhero movies like the X Men way before the surge of the
genre. The competition between studios create an oversaturation making it hard for films like
Logan to stand, but it does this and more. Logan not only transcends the superhero genre but also
turns the superhero format on its head. Logan incorporates elements found in the drama, road
trip, and western genre and emphasizes emotion over action. Set in a post apocalyptic future,
Logon tells the story of a broken down Wolverine in his older years, taking care of Charles.
Despite his reluctance to engage in any more conflicts, he is forced to escort Laura, a young girl,
to safety. Although Logan may be criticized for its one dimensional villains and overdone story,
director James Mangold, successfully crafted an excellent film that separates itself from the genre
through realistic characters and a simplistic plot.
Most of the time, Logan centralizes on its main characters, so it is understandable that other
characters are not as fleshed out. The villains came off as uninteresting and forgettable. Boyd
Holbrook played Donald Pierce, a generic villain with no reason why he is

Disadvantages Of Masticating Juicers
Masticating juicers are good for juicing vegetables because their masticating action is efficient at
breaking down the vegetable cell walls which tend to be tougher than their fruit counterparts.
Masticating juicers are very capable at juicing most fruits and vegetables, and they will also extract
juice from wheatgrass, spinach, and other leafy greens and herbs.
Juicer
Juicers help you to get a sufficient intake of nutrients and vitamins from both fruits and vegetables
because they are concentrated in the juice produced. Juicers are a useful tool that can help you
lose weight and become healthier on a day to day basis, because they allow you to make smoothies

Masticating juicer doesn t use blades and doesn t need high speed to extract juice from the fruits
and vegetables. Masticating juicers are also more versatile than centrifugal juicers because, in
addition to extracting juices, these juicers also homogenize foods to make baby foods, pates,
sauces, nut butters, banana ice creams and fruit sorbets. Masticating juicers are better at
preserving nutrients as they turn slowly and squash the juice out of your fresh produce, this is
what we recommend as it s better for you, but bear in mind the juice will be live ie somewhat
bitty, so your kids may not dig it. Masticating juicers work at lower speeds and are therefore
more adept at juicing a wider range of fruit and vegetables than centrifugal juicers. Masticating
juicers work well for all fruits and vegetables, including wheatgrass and leafy greens. Masticating
juicers are less common, tend to be more expensive, better made and last a lot longer.
Vegetables
Vegetables on the other hand have fibrous, tough cell walls, requiring more aggressive mechanical
juicing action than fruit. Masticating juicers are good for juicing vegetables because their
masticating action is efficient at breaking down the vegetable cell walls which tend to be tougher
than their fruit counterparts.

Atomic Bombs Were Dropped On The Japanese Cities Of...
Two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of
1945. This decision brought about many consequences on both Americans and Japanese. By the
1940s the creation of atomic weaponry became possible because of Italian scientists Enrico Fermi
s discovery of the radioactivity of uranium in the 1930s (Brinkley 638). Eventually this spread to
the United States, and it was undertaken by military. President Harry Truman issued an ultimatum
to the Japanese, demanding that they surrender by August 3 or face utter devastation. When the
Japanese failed to meet the deadline, Truman ordered the air force to use the new atomic weapons
against Japan (Brinkley 638). The problem at hand is how the Americans and Japanese dealt with
the aftermath of the atomic bombings and how it shaped these countries. The context of this
decision will also be brought up. The effects of the Atomic Bomb in Japan were debilitating, not
only was the enemy defeated but so were women, children and other civilians. Many people
questioned if the bombings were justified considered the consequences. The atomic bomb on
Hiroshima caused 80,000 deaths and the bomb at Nagasaki caused 100,000 deaths; with the effects
of the radiation continued to cause even more harm (Brinkley 639). These numbers caused shock
within the Japanese and American communities; considering this was the first time that the bomb
was used on urban populations. There was a calculated 368,259 survivors

Symbolism And Symbolism In Wan Echo Sonnet By Robert Pack
In ВЁAn Echo SonnetВЁ by Robert Pack, he was able to develop a clear message with his
carefully structured poem. By employing a Shakespearean Sonnet form and a rhyming echo that
answers the question raised by the voice, Pack revealed that the echo was the voiceВґs alter ego.
Through the use of structure and other literary elements such as personification, imagery, and
symbolism, the author developed the idea that although one might have insecurities about the
future, it is important to take the ВЁleapВЁ of faith in order to truly be alive.
In the first quatrain, the author starts off with general questions about life that helps characterize
the voice. In the first sentence, the voice wonders if he is able to start from nothingness. This
could be an indication for either low aspiration or being too scared to take any actions for
progression. To answer this, the echo replies with ВЁstartВЁ. In order to progress on this empty
page, everyone must start somewhere and take that one small step. The voice then worries about
the outcome of life by juxtaposing joy and grief. The echo replies that grief is an outcome of life
because it is not trying to conceal the inevitable truth. This introduction presents the voice as being
insecure and anxious as he tries to understand the meaning of life and an echo that is direct.
The next four lines address death with symbolism and personification to establish the idea of not
fearing the unknown future. In line 5, the voice talks about the life cycle

Blood Typing And The Blood Of The Donor Blood
INTRODUCTION:
Blood typing is one of the tests that will determine a person s blood type. Although, all blood is
made of the same basic elements but they are not same by their blood typing. In fact, there are
eight different common blood types. Based on certain substances of antigen presence or absence
and Rh factors we will able to identify the person blood types. Those substances can trigger an
immune response if they are foreign to the body. Blood typing is important when you need a
blood transfusion or planning to have an organ transplant. As we know not all blood types are
compatible due to their antigen and antibodies they have. Since some antigens can react with
person immune system to attack the donor blood, It is very important to know the person s blood
typing and cross matching to ensure that your body doesn t make antibodies to attack the donor
blood or organ. Blood typing is especially important to pregnant mothers when the mother is Rh
and the father has Rh+ and a child born with Rh positive. So, it is important to be an early
cautious in order to avoid reactive consequences. In the medical sector small mistake can take
patient life. In this lab experiment though using the anti A serum, anti B serum, and anti Rh serum,

Christine wanted Lee to be a patriotic young man who would do anything for his country. At

and Lee cared deeply for each other. They were equally important to each other and there was
always a mutual understanding between them. At one point Lee risked his life to save
Christine, although Lee was quite young at that time he still knew that it was important to
protect his sister. Lee was everywhere with me and in the spring he saved my life (146). This
quote describes the emotions existing between Lee and Christine. When Christine was in danger

best friend who trusted each other with their lives. Finally, Lee and Christine surmounted their fears
of life by being with one another. Christine had always feared rejection, without Lee s love and

The Industrial Revolution And The American Revolution
The industrial revolution was not only technological revolution but a social one that would lie
foundation that would grow the word revolution exponentially. The industrial revolution brought
with it change, whether that change was positive or negative is questionable however it did change
the world as it was known. In both England and the United Statesof America strong industrial
revolutions struck, the revolutions would change roles in the household and society for both
women and me and the ideologies held about gender roles. In both countries effected by the
revolution, industrialization challenged religion and authority, the impact of which can still be seen
today.
The industrial revolution in both the United States and England relied heavily on roles in the
household and society. Men, woman, children and minorities all had a set place in society
before the industrial revolution. During the revolution and sense of enlightenment changed the
roles of these individuals. In the middle of the 1800 s there was change in the role of men, the
workplace was no longer a farm or working in the town, rather men were expected to be
entrepreneurs. Men, unlike woman, were seen as aggressive and built to work in a savage work
place were they could bring home the bread for the family. In England several factory jobs were
quite laborious, as well as in the US, however many emigrants that came to the United States had a
different sense of what labor as a man meant. Labor was no longer

Jones Blair Case
Problem/Issue
Jones Blair is a paint company headquartered in Dallas, Texas that sells architectural paint. Jones
Blair markets its paint to fifty counties in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, and eleven
county Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) metropolitan areas. Jones Blair has branded itself as having a
high end paint product. Increased R D, material, and labor cost have allowed Jones Blair to have
the highest price among competitors in its service area and still obtain a great amount of business.
Jones Blair is focused on providing architectural paint to a market that is fifty percent segmented,
which half consists of do it yourself consumers and the other fifty percent spilt among professional
painters and government contracts. Jones Blair has enjoyed dollar sales rising at an annual rate of
four percent over the past five years. Even though Jones Blair has enjoyed a successful rise in
dollar sales, it has seen a decline in the gallon volumes in DFW areas due to a rise in competition.
Jones Blair is aware that it is approaching the threshold in its prices. Jones Blair is afraid that once
the threshold price is reached, then the decline in volume sales will lead to Jones Blair
unsuccessfully meeting its sales margins. Jones Blair needs to determine how and where to adjust
marketing efforts to raise sales volume amounts in the DFW and Non DFW areas. Jones Blair
currently spends approximately three percent of net

How Is Language Used In Her First Ball
Katherine Mansfield s short story Her First Ball introduces us to Leila, a country girl on her way
to her first ball with her cousins, the Sheridan sisters. A range of language features convey Leila s
attitude of naive and excitement as the ball begins, and her transition to a young woman who is
more socially experienced and mature by the end of the story. The story conveys the message that
loss of innocence and youthful fantasy is an inevitable and vital part of the transition from
adolescence to adulthood. At the beginning of the story, Leila s attitude towards the ball is one of
exuberance as she has ever experienced anything like it before. Mansfield uses expressive language

Basic Math Facts On Math
Michalczuk‟s (2007) understood basic math facts to be an important skill for students to
succeed in math. Michalczuk (2007) generalized students who could answer single digit, 0 9,
multiplication problems (2 times 3, or 5 times 7, etc.) Within three seconds will do well at math
and those that answer in less than one second will do excellent at math (p. 1). Perso (2007) has
defined the looking back to basics as a need to teach and focus on the basic arithmetic skills needed
as a skill for higher level mathematics learning.
In addition, Hersh (2009) stated that skills in general are more important than ever because they
allow students to further their learning as well as make judgments about the meaning, adequacy,
and accuracy of the overall content. Clavel (2003) stated if students wanted to engage and be
successful in higher order mathematical thinking skills, mastery of the multiplication table was
critical. Henry and Brown (2008) reported students who learn to use derived fact strategies in
concert with memorization are more likely to develop mathematical proficiency than those students
who have memorized the facts without supplementary strategies (p. 172).
Wallace and Gurganus (2005) identified students who mastered the multiplication facts, not only
acquired a more positive attitude to mathematics learning, but they also developed an overall
positive mathematics experience. Basic math fact fluency provided the necessary foundation to

Food is flown in from different outside agencies including the United Nations but about 80% of
it is stolen before it gets to the starving people.5 This leads to Operation Restore Hope in which
the UN sent in 35,000 troops to try to restore order throughout the land. Deployment Phase By
November of 1992, conditions were getting worse instead of better. Food was still being stolen
and sold off to clan leaders while aid workers were threatened and attacked. Americans were
stunned at the lawlessness and starvation. Thousands of troops were ordered into Somalia to
assist in the aid by President George H. Bush. Now food was getting to the people that it was
intended for but distrust for the American soldiers was growing after they often violated Somalis
privacy by bursting into their homes and confiscating the weapons that was the Somalis only
defense against the opposing clans.6 In March of 1993 the U.S. withdrew most of its troops
leaving the security of the people to the UN. By this time anger was growing towards the
outsiders and the UN took most of the fallout for that by being attacked regularly. Hostility grew
even more when the UN announced that the clan led by Aidid was the one responsible for the
lawlessness in Somalia.7 When the UN took sides against the most powerful warlord in Somalia,
the attacks against the aid workers was stepped up. 24 Pakistani peace keepers were killed

Cultural Differences Between Modern Day North And South
Toronto to Texas the Journey
Changes occur in every region of the world; every minute, every second. Most people generally
do not approve of changes. It causes fear, mistrust, isolation, and even pain. In my youth, I liked
changes. Changes were something to look forward to, it s fun to meet new people and an
enjoyable way to see new places. It was useful to learn new skills and live experiences. So at the
age of fifteen, my mother told me we were headed for America. No attention was given to these
words, because I was a teenager who thought that the state of Texas would be quite similar to
Toronto, but never did I imagine that this will completely change my perception of change. These
changes have led me to understand the different culture between the north and south, not to believe
in stereotypes, and made me adaptable.
I can t even begin to explain the massive cultural differences between modern day North and
South. Most people assume only climate and slang are the major difference in the two, however
they could not be more wrong. Especially between Toronto and Wichita Falls, Texas. It may
sound obvious but there is geographical difference. For one in the North we have more clear and
fast rivers, and we almost always have a bay. While in the south, the soil is agriculturally more
fertile, so in essence we see more farms and large areas of land. Also there is a huge population
difference between Wichita Falls and Toronto, which is easily amongst the biggest and most

Helen De Hogan Analysis
The Power of Beauty
Helen plays an important role in Greek mythology, history, poetry, and drama. Each writer portrays
Helen in a different way, showing how they each understand a woman s behavior. Helen s beauty
tells the story of the destruction to Troy during the Trojan War. Helen, the queen of Sparta
, left her
husband, Menelaus, to be with Paris, a Trojan prince, and caused a thousand ships to be sent after
her, starting a ten year war between the Greeks and the Trojans. Christopher Marlowe and

Examples Of Discrimination In A Streetcar Named Desire
Back in the 1940 s, gender stereotypes existed to a larger extent. Tennessee Williams casts a light
on this issue in his play, A Streetcar Named Desire in which he shows how Homosexuals; such as
Blanche s husband Allan Grey was cut from the society. During the 1940 s, the concept of
homosexuality was completely unusual and many people termed it to be unethical and almost a
crime (Straight from the Closet). As a result, Allan Grey has been briefly mentioned but he has a
huge role to play in Blanche s mental breakdown and Williams has constantly made his presence
felt through Blanche s character.

Williams makes use of a plastic theatre element; Varsouviana Polka to show how the tragic
suicide of Blanche s husband is still affecting her. In scene 1, when Stanley asks Blanche about
her marriage, there is a faint Varsouviana polka heard (p.31). This stage direction allows the
reader to know that Blanche is brought to reality where she considers herself guilty for her
husband s death. The intensity of this polka tune is more rapid in scene 9, when Mitch confronts
Blanche about her truth (p.113). The purpose of the rapid polka tune is to make it clear in the
reader s mind that Blanche s illusion of getting married to Mitch as a way to get rid of her past, is
brought back to reality when Mitch refuses her proposal. It also marks the increasing mental
collapse as she realizes it s the end of her illusion and only reality exists. Towards the end, in scene
11, the Varsouviana tune plays continuously when the doctor and the nurse come to take Blanche to
the mental asylum (p.139). This final act and the Varsouviana playing in the background helps the
reader to clearly recognize the ultimate mental breakdown of Blanche and eventually facing the

The Psychoanalytic Criticism Scope Of Hamlet
Hamlet is one the best known works of Willian Shakespeare, a play that emphasizes revenge, as
one of the major topics . The main character hamlet is driven by all of this revenge matter , and
ends up physically killing 2 people, Claudius and Polonius, as well as indirectly causing the deaths
of 5 other characters throughout the play. It is a Play that leaves us with uncertainty and doubts ,
we can go either way, we could see hamletas a protagonistwho seeks justice for his father s murder
or an antagonist, because let s be realistic it is a bit extreme all the deaths he cause just to avenge
one person. I chose to look at hamlet through the psychoanalytic criticism scope. I will attempt to
demonstrate how his id, ego, and super ego influenced In his behavior and decision on murdering
his uncle, and the problems he confronted while attempting to accomplish his fathers will to do so.
Hopefully, we can make a decision after being presented hamlet through this new perspective.
First we can analyze hamlet being devastated by his fathers death. It is only fair to understand the
pain he must have felt, and on top of that he is supposed to be the heir to the throne of Denmark.
Instead, his uncle takes it from him by marrying his mother, Gertrude, so quick. By looking
through the psychoanalytic lens, we first look at his id or unconscious, which are our most desired
dreams or hopes that are deep within our mind, also known as the pleasure principle: is the

Mosquitoes In Ww1
Over seventy years ago the world was tossed into a war that touched every corner of the globe.
The war would take the lives of over sixty million people from it s start in 1939 to it s end in

enemy. However, the Allies biggest advantage would be their advancements in medicine that
allowed more men to return to the front. The main instrument of war has always been the
weapons used in it, and in the case of world war two both the Allies and the Axis were armed to

Effective Communication Of The Brands Values, Personality...
The key factor to any organisation is the ability to attract and retain the best talent in the market.
This is essential if your business is among the high competitors were specialised skills are in high
demand. The following will demonstrate how through employer branding an organisation can
strengthen their relationship with both existing and potential employees. Also how effective
communication of the brands values, personality and culture may impact on the creation of a
strong employer brand. A company will be perceived on how it conducts itself in the market
across the board to how the potential employee imagines what it would be like to work for that
organisation. An effective brand would highlight all the positive aspects such as a good
employer, great place to work, and at the same time influencing recruitment retention. As a result
of this a positive impression of your company will be visible within the market sector. Effective
communication and organisational skills, alongside personality and culture can create a positive
perception of good employer branding. Employees should feel some kind of responsibility toward
the organisations employer branding. The reflection of employee s actions portrays an image of
the company. Employees and management must believe in the brand to fully engage in the

Once known as one of the undebatable centers of intellectual thought and process on every
college and university campus, academic libraries are being unseated from their position of
power and authority by the very industry they ve worked years to create space and business for. In
the past, journals and publishers fought for the favor of academic librarians and buyers, vying for
their attention and preference when it came to stocking the vast capacity of stacks that most
institutions offer. Conversely in 2017, the publishing market has begun to turn the tables on the
former reign holders. In the following pages this paper will examine the shift of power between
books to different resources from subscription services, e books, and... Show more content on

The first new application of media for libraries is subscription and database based services. The
term, subscription based services may very well be the subprime mortgage bond of the library
universe. Unlike the traditional purchase of a physical publication, a digital subscription based
repository is only available for as long as the fees are paid. These terms of use push universities not
only into large, recurring costs but also create pressure for the institution to continue the
subscription. Not only does the school not want to interrupt ongoing research but also student
bodies come to rely and expect the presence of specific subscriptions. The prospect of switching to
another service, although perhaps cheaper in the primary cost, carries additional costs such as
training/education, user registration as well as IT support in its setup. Companies that offer these
subscription based services appear to very well rely on these barriers to swapping.
Subscriptions are an effective way to help students with current research materials but is costly and
must be renewed. These subscriptions help students access the materials everywhere on campus
and around the world, which is reducing the number of books and journals checked out in person.
This is downgrading libraries use of books and resources. This can be evidenced by the bold
pricing strategies implemented by such companies. For instance,

My Brother Sam Is Dead Comparison
There are a lot of books and movies about the Revolutionary War. Some of them are more
historical fiction, which is what I will be covering in this essay. The novel My Brother Sam Is
Dead and the movie The Patriot have many similarities when it comes to the Revolutionary War.
However, the two families have completely different experiences during the war. In the end, both
the book and the movie do an excellent job at showcasing the experiences of those fighting in the
war. In both The Patriot and My Brother Sam Is Dead , the father does not want their son to fight
because they are French and Indian War veterans who have experienced the hardships. The fathers
are also against the war, and believe that family is more important than principles. However, this
does not stop Sam (MBSID) and Gabriel (The Patriot) from joining the Continental Army. In the
end, both sons are killed, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main setting is a tavern in Redding, Connecticut, in the New England Colonies. The New
England Colonies did not have as much slavery, and livestock such as cattle (which is a part of
the book) is more important than crops. The war is talked about frequently, but specific battles
are not described, and the story is from a first person perspective, so it talks more about how the
war impacts civilians. The mother, Susannah Meeker, and the youngest brother, Tim Meeker,
are alive throughout the book. Diseases such as cholera are mentioned, and this ends up killing
the father, Life Meeker. Life was a Tory, so it was ironic that he died on a British prison ship.
Life however, was not a Redcoat; he didn t fight in the war. The Revolutionary War is portrayed
as a bad thing, and both the Redcoats and the Patriots are bad guys. Sam is a Patriot, and he is in
the war for glory, which is a major theme in the book. Sam is shot to death by a Patriot, which is
another example of

American Technological Advancements
The United States has utilized innovations and technological advancements to solidify its position
as a global superpower. One of the greatest accomplishments the United States can claim is to have
put a man on the moon in 1969. In describing the impact of the moon landing, historian Arthur M.
Schlesinger Jr. notes, The one thing for which this century will be remembered 500 years from
now was: This was the century when we began the exploration of space (Launius, 2006). In the 47
years since the moonlanding, no other nation has been able to land on the moon marking this as a
lasting legacy to American perseverance in the exploration of space. The completion of the
Panama Canal in 1914 also showcased American resolve and engineering superiority. Providing
maritime access between the Atlantic and the Pacific, the Canal stands today as one of seven
wonders of the modern world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the progression of the machine gun to the development of the atomic bomb and further still to
today and stealth aircraft technology, the United States has consistently pushed the envelope on
innovation in order to say one step ahead as a military superpower. With this being an online course,
one would be remiss to not note the great American accomplishment of creating a computer
communication network through the collaboration between the Department of Defense, engineers
and scientists during the Cold War.
The flare for thinking outside of the box in the United States could easily be traced back to the
founding of the nation. The Founding Fathers were nation building innovators as they wrote the
Constitution. American technological innovations have opened the doors to discovery, which has

Importance of Sports
Previous studies have found that higher physical activity levels are associated with greater
academic achievement among students. However, it remains unclear whether associations are due
to the physical activity itself or sports team participation, which may involve requirements for
maintaining certain grades, for example. The purpose of this study is to examine the associations
between sports team participation, physical activity, and academic outcomes in middle and high
schoolstudents. Methods: Data were drawn from Project EAT (Eating Among Teens), a survey of
middle and high school students (n = 4746). Students self reported their weekly hours of physical
activity, sports team participation, and academic letter grades. Two statistical... Show more content

Another trend is the incorporation of Health and Nutrition to the physical education curriculum. The
Child Nutrition and WIC Re authorization Act of 2004 required that all school districts with a
federally funded school meal program develop wellness policies that address nutrition and physical
activity.[2] While teaching students sports and movement skills, P.E. teachers are now
incorporating short health and nutrition lessons into the curriculum. This is more prevalent at the
elementary school level, where students do not have a specific Health class. Recently most
elementary schools have specific health classes for students as well as physical education class.
With the recent outbreaks of diseases such as swine flu, school districts are making it mandatory for
students to learn about practicing good hygiene along with other health topics.
Today many states require Physical Education teachers to be certified to teach Health also. Many
colleges and Universities offer both Physical Education and Health as one certification. This push
towards Health education, is beginning in the intermediate level, including lessons on bullying, self
esteem and stress and anger management.
In the United States, the physical education curriculum is designed to allow school pupils a full
range of modern opportunities, dozens of sports and hundreds of carefully reviewed drills and
exercises, including exposure to the education with the use of pedometer, GPS, and heart

Historiography During The Cold War
What is Historiography? The study and analysis of historical writings, the method of analyzing a
historical period based on the perspectives of historians to the event.
What is critical analysis in history writing? To critically analyze an event one must read about all
aspects of a historical event in order to fully understand that historical era. This is done by
examining several primary source documents, as well as the perspectives of several historians.
This way we are able to break down a historical time and fully understand its success and failures.
For example: Reconstruction is the most controversial point in U.S. history in regards to its
successes as well as its effect on the course of the country. Historians of the 1900 s like... Show

Japanese Feudalism Essay
European Feudalism and Japanese Feudalism are very similar when it comes to their government
system, which always begins with the highest rank to the lowest rank of both systems in their
governments. The highest rank in the Europeans Feudalism system is the king, and for the
Japanese, it s the emperor. The Europeans had one king who owned all power, provides money,
recruits the army on demand, and grants land by the lord. Japanese Feudalismis a little different for
their highest rank. The Japanese had one emperor who owns no political power, the actual ruler in
the Japanese system is called the shogun, or supreme military leader who is chosen by the emperor
for life. European and Japanese Feudalism have many similarities in their government system,
starting with the highest power which is the ruler of their government, and scaffolds down to a
peasant or farm type of person.

Europe was somewhat different from Japan when it comes to children s education and training.
In the European system, boys at the age of seven were sent to the castle of their fathers lord,
where he would be trained to fight as a knight in warfare. During the training, the boys learned of
to hide horses and fight with different weapons. Trained knights would be expected to pledge
and to live by the code of conduct, which states they much be generous in warfare, have loyalty,
and be very brave. In Japan, boys and girls were taught important life skills. Japanese girls were

Counting on World Domination
WORLD DOMINATION
Waiting in the dark, waiting for the end. We heard footsteps outside the door, then they stoped. I
was clutching my mother and my baby sister in fear. No no no no. Not like this, I thought. Then
we heard a man say something in Russian. The door knob turned until the man realized it was
locked. He slowly walked away. It was finally safe. Australia was a great place to live until the
Russians reunited the Soviet Union. They launched nukes at the USA and then started to take
over the rest of Asia. They conquered Asia in less than five months and then moved on to
Europe. They had no problem taking over Europe except for Germany who held strong. The SU,
Soviet Union, eventually gave up and nuked Germany. The only real problem was when they
moved onto Africa. The people of africa had the advantage because the SU wasn t used to the
climate. Obviously the SU had to enter Africa from the North, so they went threw the Sahara
Desert. The Africans had a defensive line set up in South Sudan and shot down the SU s copters
and planes and wiped out the ground forces with mortars. The SU just went around the line and
headed into a deathtrap. Most of the ground forces got slaughtered by elephants and lions. They
knew they couldn t go on like that and just made a truce with Africa. The reason they didn t nuke
Africa was because they ran out of missiles. The SU was too weak to attack South America so the
also made a truce with them. After 5 months of recovering they

Minimum Mean Square Error Among Ortogonal Frequancy...
The one with the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) among Ortogonal Frequancy Division
Multiplexing candidate signals is selected for transmission. From the results, it can be seen that a
proposed scheme based iterative partial transmit sequence can be easily implemented with low
combining complexity, still maintaining a better BER performance and peak to average power
ratio reduction, compared to the conventional partial transmit sequence approach. In mobile
communication environment due to fading and multipath, the received signal suffers from random
phase fluctuations. This in turn makes coherent demodulation schemes rather unattractive and
impractical. Malode and Patil (2010) proposed the peak to average power ratio reduction

Chin Liang Wang and Yuan Ouyang ( 2005) introduce a Selected mapping method .The Selected
mapping method approach provides good performance for peak to average power ratio reduction
reduction, but it requires a bank of Inverse Fast Fourier Transforms to generate a set of candidate
transmission signals, and this requirement usually results in high computational complexity. The
author suggests low complexity conversions to replace the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform blocks in
the conventional Selected mapping method method. Two novel Selected mapping method schemes
were proposed with much lower complexity than the conventional one; the first method uses only
one Inverse Fast Fourier Transform block to generate the set of candidate signals, while the second
one uses two Inverse Fast Fourier Transform blocks. Computer simulation results show that, as
compared to the conventional Selected mapping method scheme, the first proposed approach has
slightly worse peak to average power ratio reduction reduction performance and the second
proposed one reaches almost the same peak to average power ratio reduction reduction
performance. Chin Liang wang continues his investigation by oversampling two times of the
Ortogonal Frequancy Division Multiplexing signals by applying peak search and partial
interpolation method. The proposed scheme with two times

The Role Of Zakah And The Muslim Arab Community.the System
THE ROLE OF ZAKAH(ALMS GIVING) IN POVERTY ALLEVIATION IN NIGERIA
BY
DR. MUSTAPHA ISA QASIM,
DEPARTMENT OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION,
(ISLAMIC STUDIES SECTION)
AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY, ZARIA.
ABSTRACT
The main objective of Zakah(Alms giving) is to alleviate poverty in the Muslim community .The
system is specifically designed to take care of the needs of the poor and the needy from the
Muslim Ummah. In this paper, a close look at this vital role of Zakah is made, indicating that the
present economic hardship in the Muslim Ummah could be easily solved through the institution of
Zakah. It was practiced during the time of the Prophet (S.A.W.) and his Companions, and
subsequently in the period of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz. Therefore, the system of Zakah is strongly
recommended to be used for poverty alleviation in Nigerian Muslim communities.
Keyword: Role: Zakah: Poverty Alleviation: Nigeria
Introduction
Zakah is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims are obliged by the Shari`ah to take a portion of
their wealth and give to the poor as charity. This is called Zakah. It is designed to take care of the
basic economic needs of the poor people and alleviate the problem of poverty in society. Our
society today is pervaded with poverty, hunger and unemployment. The Government has failed in
discharging its responsibilities of providing basic employment for its citizens, many wealthy
Muslims have refused to take out Zakah from their wealth appropriately, and

  • 3. Illuminati Research Papers This beady eye is all seeing, all knowing and all powerful. It is allegedly the symbol of an influential secret society known as the Illuminati (Waugh). The group known as the Illuminati is a cult that conspiracy theorist say control are everyday lives. The Illuminati have gotten into people s everyday lives and nobody knows the reason of how or why they did. Many people have not even heard of the Illuminati or what they are about. The ones that know what the Illuminati is see the group as a tall tale passed down through the ages. This is because the Illuminati is trying to stay hidden and in the shadows. The members of the Illuminati supposedly know more about what is going on than the outsiders do (Waugh). We know the Illuminati from the definition that is given by society and what makes the organization, along with members and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some say that it was the Illuminati trying to test their hologram machine. The alleged plan is to throw a hologram into the sky of a God like figure telling us to go with the Illuminati just in a more sly, Godly way (Dawson). The Illuminati is most likely getting this plan up and running as a way to influence the followers of Christ when the desired time comes. When this happens the most likely case is that all of the non believers of Christ are already influenced and ready to follow them. Even in the 1970s people knew about this. John Todd was known for talking about how UFOs were part of the Illuminati s plan. However, when it became well known he just mysteriously disappeared (Xendrius). Is it just a coincidence he disappeared? Many think not. The government and the Illuminati have the power to make anyone they want go away . To a large extent the Illuminati already have us wrapped around their theoretical finger. • 4. Reflection Of Writing Poetry I have always been interested in systems and structures. As a child I enjoyed the challenge of writing poetry, the intense structures mirrored in sentence fragments and the chaos of words. Somewhere along the way this semester I remember listening in on a conversation about rhyming words, we are obsessed with rhyming. As a lover of poetry I began to ponder why we love rhyming words so much, my conclusion is that it gives a through line of sound in a chaotic language. Education is much like poetry, it finds itself grounded in structure but there are little nuances along the way that allow chaos to form, shifting the ideal into reality. As said by John Dewey in 1916 in Democracy and Education, ... there is a kind of passivity, willingness to let experiences accumulate and sink in and ripen which is essential of development... we are all instructors to realize that quality of mental process, not the production of correct answers, is the measure of educative growth... (Allen, 2011, p.30). If my brain was a filing cabinet at the start of the semester everything I thoughtit knew got thrown on the floor, as time passed and I organised my thoughts new documents began to find their way into the piles, changing the system that was previously created. Growth, reflection and perception have dominated my thought processes this semester, the through line is assessment. Assessment regarding learningbut also assessment as reflection of thought, convergent, divergent and lateral modes of thinking. The three modes of thinking are as follows described in teachthought.com, convergent being logical and critical thinking, Divergent being imaginative and creative thinking and lastly, lateral being both convergent and divergent in balance with each other equalling thinking outside the box (Staff, 2017). When reflecting on my semester it is important to me to consider all areas of growth in my journey. From the flow of chaos in the classroom to the filing cabinet that holds all my theory and the mode of thought that I approach my daily activities with. Understanding the pragmatics of something requires us to first go to the roots, the classroom culture. At the beginning of the semester I thought of culture being how an external ... • 5. Pathetic Fallacy In The Red Pony The fourth theme of nature is that the natural events imply profound messages. In The Red Pony, it is described by the pathetic fallacy. This literary term refers to the presentation of inanimate objects in nature as possessing human feelings. Steinbeck especially uses the weather to foreshadow upcoming events and to symbolize the mood and emotion of the characters. For example, rain is one of the causes of death in this story. In The Gift, Jody wishes that it does not rain before Thanksgiving. Jody s father has told Jody that he can ride the pony on the day of Thanksgiving, because it will be all grown up by then. Jody tries to act on his father s words, so he does not put his legs on the horse s back, waiting for the day of getting upon Gabilan. However, the brown earth turns dark and the trees glistens (21). Then, Jody tells him that he is going to kill the mice with his grandfather that day (90). Jody takes a broom and begins the mouse hunt. When Jody sees the dead mice, he sighs with satisfaction (77). He describes that the plump, sleek, arrogant mice are doomed (77). Jody sees his obligation to kill the mice because they do not have any reason of being alive. Thus, he continues the process of slaughter; however, Billy stops him and tells him to come back home. Jody goes back to his house and tells Billy that the mice do not know the near future of their life (77). Then, Billy responds philosophically No, nor you either...nor me, nor anyone (91), meaning that nobody on earth can see the future. From Billy and Jody s conversation, Steinbeck suggests that living things cannot control what is going to happen; instead, the future controls them. Namely, nature rules over everything, and human beings do not have any power in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Black Gibbon Research Paper Introduction Considered to be the world s greatest acrobats, the endangerment of gibbons proves to be a very big deal. Using their powerful ability to brachiate, they can leap distances of 40 feet at speeds of up to 35 mph while 200 feet above the ground, greater than any trapeze artist in our days. These important primates include some of the rarest in the world, such as the Eastern black gibbon. (Gibbon Conservation Center, 2012). These omnivorous mammals weigh from 9 to 25 pounds, and won t reach over 25 inches in size. Unfortunately, most gibbon species are highly endangered. (All About Wildlife, 2014) Natives to the forests of Southeast, South and East Asia, gibbons can be found in Thailand, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia (Gibbon Conservation Center, 2012). Gibbons are highly adapted to life in the trees and rarely ever will come down to the ground. Their hook shaped hands, long arms, and powerful legs allow for brachiating at amazing heights and distances. Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan Challenger Disaster Ronald Reagan Challenger Disaster Address to the Nation After the seven astronauts, engineers, and Christa McAuliffe, a history teacher selected to be part of the mission, were killed in the terrible shuttle Challenger explosion, Ronald Reagan had the unbelievable job of explaining it to the country. Millions across the country were watching as the shuttle caught in flames and then exploded only 73 seconds after lift off. It was later determined that two rubber O rings, designed to separate the sections of the rocket booster, had failed due to cold temperatures on the morning of the launch (http://www.history.com/topics/challenger disaster). Reagan gave his speech at 5 pm on January 28, 1986 from the Oval Office at the White House, broadcasted live on nationwide radio and television. Reagan knew that he had to make it plain to them that life does go on and you don t back up and quit some worthwhile endeavor because of tragedy . • 8. The Role Of Women In Matthew LewisThe Monk And The Italian Matthew Lewis The Monk differs from Ann Radcliffe s The Italian in its portrayal of women. Since both The Monk and The Italian feature prominent female religious leaders, comparing the different ways The Monk and The Italian portray this specific group of women sheds light on each author s attitude toward female agency. The latter refers to the ability to exercise control in pursuing individual goals. Both The Monkand The Italian depict tyrannical head nuns abusing their agency. However, the horrific descriptions and exclusive focus on diabolical nuns in The Monk exudes a pessimistic attitude towards female agency as invariably leading to catastrophes. By contrast, The Italian reveals a more optimistic attitude towards female agency through its more subtle depiction of the cruel nuns and its acknowledgement of benevolent nuns, proposing that female agency can be channeled to good causes. In The Monk, the Prioress abuses her agency in tyrannical ways. The Prioress imprisons women and rules by fear, oppressing the women within her convent. She consider[s] [women of rank] quitting the Convent, as a disgrace thrown upon it and will use every artifice to avoid [that] (169). Not only does she imprison women, she also subdues them by fear as seen by how Mother St. Ursula describes her fear that her every action [is] observed, [her] every step [is] traced and that [she is] constantly surrounded by the Superior s spies (273). The Greek word not only means education, as the prompt indicates; it also connotes the development of the ideal citizen, requiring discipline and emotional health as well as content learning. The experience I have had that comes closest to this is the work of being in the present moment. Often called mindfulness, it s a tool for opening oneself up to a deep educationof the mind, body and spirit; along with significant connections to the intellectual pursuits of neuroscience and psychology. While I feel insufficiently trained to teach official MBSR, I would be glad to share not only what I have learned about it, my passion and curiosity, but also how it can help others. I see this class as especially pertinent to Reed because of its honor code. The principle of honor requires that people have both integrity and mutual respect. One must be able to calmly and clearly evaluate a course of action and a fair minded attitude towards it. For these goals there may be no better prescription than calm abiding in the present moment. Cultivating more skillful ways of responding to stress and distress is one of my goals, and another is to share something I have found so beneficial for my mental health and general well being. The learning, and its practice involve group activities and connection at their core, key aspects of a comprehensive college education. • 10. Fuel Cell Disadvantages Hydrogen fuel cells are an emerging technology that could be the next mass produced energy source of the future. The application of hydrogen as a fuel source can be used to power cars, homes, and even cell phones. Hydrogen is the most abundant molecule in the universe. The most profound use for hydrogen fuel cells will be for vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cells will revolutionize the automobile industry. Hydrogen fuel has been used by NASA since the early 1970s to launch space stations and other rockets into orbit (Renewable Energy World). A fuel cell combines hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity, heat, and water. Fuel cells are often compared to batteries. Both convert the energy produced by a chemical reaction into usable electric power. However, the fuel cell will produce electricity as long as fuel (hydrogen) is supplied, never losing its charge (Renewable Energy World). There has been a big push in recent years for automobile companies to produce lower emission producing vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles can help to solve the issue. Hydrogen is clean burning, producing only water vaper as waste. Hydrogen Fuel cell vehicles will be zero emission, reducing air pollution (Bernard Meyerson). Fuel cell offer all the same benefits as conventional fuel powered cars with cruising range up to 500 miles. To refill a take with hydrogen will take about three minutes, about the same amount of time as traditional fuel fill ups. Down side is the first production of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has caused political fights, undermines democracy and good governance by flouting or even subverting formal processes for each other or just put in every penny in their pocket from their own countrymen without them even knowing it. In order to stop these incidents the people should be more educated in the world of politics so that they can be aware and stop the spread of corruption in the government. Writing By Omission By John Mcphee Summary Try Greening That The first article listed to read was Writing by Omission by John McPhee, which I found to be an interesting lens to inspect the three pieces from the The Globe and Mail we chose to read. Out of the four readings of the week, Writing by Omission was by far the most insightful. McPhee uses his own tribulations as a writer in the industry to illustrate his notion that writing is selection. Every word, paragraph, and chapter must be selected amongst a great arc of potentialities available to the writer, and it is the author s grand task to carefully choose the most appropriate next piece. McPhee recounts his time trying to select the best words to be left behind from his manuscripts and what should be restored and what shouldn t be. The idea of greening a paper comes from his work at Time, where the articles had to fit a specified number of lines. The authors were told to Green 5, and had no choice but to comply by removing five entire lines from their work. The practice, McPhee argues, forces the writer to make the most out of what they have and how making a piece tighter and more restricted enhances its appeal. • 14. Logo Movie Analysis Logan: A Stand Out Superhero Movie In the past few years, the superhero genre has risen into the movie industry. This year alone, six superhero movies were released. The superhero genre is popular among young adults. While big studios like Marvel and DC are competing for audiences, many overlook Fox studio, which has been making critically acclaimed superhero movies like the X Men way before the surge of the genre. The competition between studios create an oversaturation making it hard for films like Logan to stand, but it does this and more. Logan not only transcends the superhero genre but also turns the superhero format on its head. Logan incorporates elements found in the drama, road trip, and western genre and emphasizes emotion over action. Set in a post apocalyptic future, Logon tells the story of a broken down Wolverine in his older years, taking care of Charles. Despite his reluctance to engage in any more conflicts, he is forced to escort Laura, a young girl, to safety. Although Logan may be criticized for its one dimensional villains and overdone story, director James Mangold, successfully crafted an excellent film that separates itself from the genre through realistic characters and a simplistic plot. Most of the time, Logan centralizes on its main characters, so it is understandable that other characters are not as fleshed out. The villains came off as uninteresting and forgettable. Masticating juicers are also more versatile than centrifugal juicers because, in addition to extracting juices, these juicers also homogenize foods to make baby foods, pates, sauces, nut butters, banana ice creams and fruit sorbets. Masticating juicers are better at preserving nutrients as they turn slowly and squash the juice out of your fresh produce, this is what we recommend as it s better for you, but bear in mind the juice will be live ie somewhat bitty, so your kids may not dig it. Masticating juicers work at lower speeds and are therefore more adept at juicing a wider range of fruit and vegetables than centrifugal juicers. Masticating juicers work well for all fruits and vegetables, including wheatgrass and leafy greens. Masticating juicers are less common, tend to be more expensive, better made and last a lot longer. Vegetables Vegetables on the other hand have fibrous, tough cell walls, requiring more aggressive mechanical juicing action than fruit. • 17. Atomic Bombs Were Dropped On The Japanese Cities Of... Two atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945. This decision brought about many consequences on both Americans and Japanese. By the 1940s the creation of atomic weaponry became possible because of Italian scientists Enrico Fermi s discovery of the radioactivity of uranium in the 1930s (Brinkley 638). Eventually this spread to the United States, and it was undertaken by military. President Harry Truman issued an ultimatum to the Japanese, demanding that they surrender by August 3 or face utter devastation. When the Japanese failed to meet the deadline, Truman ordered the air force to use the new atomic weapons against Japan (Brinkley 638). The problem at hand is how the Americans and Japanese dealt with the aftermath of the atomic bombings and how it shaped these countries. The context of this decision will also be brought up. The effects of the Atomic Bomb in Japan were debilitating, not only was the enemy defeated but so were women, children and other civilians. Many people questioned if the bombings were justified considered the consequences. The atomic bomb on Hiroshima caused 80,000 deaths and the bomb at Nagasaki caused 100,000 deaths; with the effects of the radiation continued to cause even more harm (Brinkley 639). These numbers caused shock within the Japanese and American communities; considering this was the first time that the bomb was used on urban populations. There was a calculated 368,259 survivors ... • 18. Symbolism And Symbolism In Wan Echo Sonnet By Robert Pack In ВЁAn Echo SonnetВЁ by Robert Pack, he was able to develop a clear message with his carefully structured poem. By employing a Shakespearean Sonnet form and a rhyming echo that answers the question raised by the voice, Pack revealed that the echo was the voiceВґs alter ego. Through the use of structure and other literary elements such as personification, imagery, and symbolism, the author developed the idea that although one might have insecurities about the future, it is important to take the ВЁleapВЁ of faith in order to truly be alive. In the first quatrain, the author starts off with general questions about life that helps characterize the voice. In the first sentence, the voice wonders if he is able to start from nothingness. This could be an indication for either low aspiration or being too scared to take any actions for progression. To answer this, the echo replies with ВЁstartВЁ. In order to progress on this empty page, everyone must start somewhere and take that one small step. The voice then worries about the outcome of life by juxtaposing joy and grief. The echo replies that grief is an outcome of life because it is not trying to conceal the inevitable truth. This introduction presents the voice as being insecure and anxious as he tries to understand the meaning of life and an echo that is direct. The next four lines address death with symbolism and personification to establish the idea of not fearing the unknown future. In line 5, the voice talks about the life cycle ... Perso (2007) has defined the looking back to basics as a need to teach and focus on the basic arithmetic skills needed as a skill for higher level mathematics learning. In addition, Hersh (2009) stated that skills in general are more important than ever because they allow students to further their learning as well as make judgments about the meaning, adequacy, and accuracy of the overall content. Clavel (2003) stated if students wanted to engage and be successful in higher order mathematical thinking skills, mastery of the multiplication table was critical. Henry and Brown (2008) reported students who learn to use derived fact strategies in concert with memorization are more likely to develop mathematical proficiency than those students who have memorized the facts without supplementary strategies (p. 172). Academic Libraries Once known as one of the undebatable centers of intellectual thought and process on every college and university campus, academic libraries are being unseated from their position of power and authority by the very industry they ve worked years to create space and business for. In the past, journals and publishers fought for the favor of academic librarians and buyers, vying for their attention and preference when it came to stocking the vast capacity of stacks that most institutions offer. Conversely in 2017, the publishing market has begun to turn the tables on the former reign holders. In the following pages this paper will examine the shift of power between books to different resources from subscription services, e books, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first new application of media for libraries is subscription and database based services. The term, subscription based services may very well be the subprime mortgage bond of the library universe. Unlike the traditional purchase of a physical publication, a digital subscription based repository is only available for as long as the fees are paid. These terms of use push universities not only into large, recurring costs but also create pressure for the institution to continue the subscription. Not only does the school not want to interrupt ongoing research but also student bodies come to rely and expect the presence of specific subscriptions. The prospect of switching to another service, although perhaps cheaper in the primary cost, carries additional costs such as training/education, user registration as well as IT support in its setup. Companies that offer these subscription based services appear to very well rely on these barriers to swapping. Subscriptions are an effective way to help students with current research materials but is costly and must be renewed. These subscriptions help students access the materials everywhere on campus and around the world, which is reducing the number of books and journals checked out in person. This is downgrading libraries use of books and resources. This can be evidenced by the bold pricing strategies implemented by such companies. For instance, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The novel My Brother Sam Is Dead and the movie The Patriot have many similarities when it comes to the Revolutionary War. However, the two families have completely different experiences during the war. In the end, both the book and the movie do an excellent job at showcasing the experiences of those fighting in the war. In both The Patriot and My Brother Sam Is Dead , the father does not want their son to fight because they are French and Indian War veterans who have experienced the hardships. The fathers are also against the war, and believe that family is more important than principles. However, this does not stop Sam (MBSID) and Gabriel (The Patriot) from joining the Continental Army. The door knob turned until the man realized it was locked. He slowly walked away. It was finally safe. Australia was a great place to live until the Russians reunited the Soviet Union. They launched nukes at the USA and then started to take over the rest of Asia. They conquered Asia in less than five months and then moved on to Europe. They had no problem taking over Europe except for Germany who held strong. The SU, Soviet Union, eventually gave up and nuked Germany. The only real problem was when they moved onto Africa. The people of africa had the advantage because the SU wasn t used to the climate. Obviously the SU had to enter Africa from the North, so they went threw the Sahara Desert. The Africans had a defensive line set up in South Sudan and shot down the SU s copters and planes and wiped out the ground forces with mortars. The SU just went around the line and headed into a deathtrap. Most of the ground forces got slaughtered by elephants and lions. Chin Liang Wang and Yuan Ouyang ( 2005) introduce a Selected mapping method .The Selected mapping method approach provides good performance for peak to average power ratio reduction reduction, but it requires a bank of Inverse Fast Fourier Transforms to generate a set of candidate transmission signals, and this requirement usually results in high computational complexity. The author suggests low complexity conversions to replace the Inverse Fast Fourier Transform blocks in the conventional Selected mapping method method. Two novel Selected mapping method schemes were proposed with much lower complexity than the conventional one; the first method uses only one Inverse Fast Fourier Transform block to generate the set of candidate signals, while the second one uses two Inverse Fast Fourier Transform blocks. Computer simulation results show that, as compared to the conventional Selected mapping method scheme, the first proposed approach has slightly worse peak to average power ratio reduction reduction performance and the second proposed one reaches almost the same peak to average power ratio reduction reduction performance. MUSTAPHA ISA QASIM, DEPARTMENT OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION, (ISLAMIC STUDIES SECTION) AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY, ZARIA. ABSTRACT The main objective of Zakah(Alms giving) is to alleviate poverty in the Muslim community .The system is specifically designed to take care of the needs of the poor and the needy from the Muslim Ummah. In this paper, a close look at this vital role of Zakah is made, indicating that the present economic hardship in the Muslim Ummah could be easily solved through the institution of Zakah. It was practiced during the time of the Prophet (S.A.W.) and his Companions, and subsequently in the period of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz. Therefore, the system of Zakah is strongly recommended to be used for poverty alleviation in Nigerian Muslim communities. Keyword: Role: Zakah: Poverty Alleviation: Nigeria Introduction Zakah is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims are obliged by the Shari`ah to take a portion of their wealth and give to the poor as charity. This is called Zakah. It is designed to take care of the basic economic needs of the poor people and alleviate the problem of poverty in society. Our society today is pervaded with poverty, hunger and unemployment. The Government has failed in discharging its responsibilities of providing basic employment for its citizens, many wealthy Muslims have refused to take out Zakah from their wealth appropriately, and ...
