The gradual visual field loss and there is a characteristic type of damage to the retinal nerve fiber layer associated with the progression of the disease glaucoma. Texture features within images are actively pursued for accurate and efficient glaucoma classification. Energy distribution over wavelet subband is applied to find these important texture features. In this paper, we investigate the discriminatory potential of wavelet features obtained from the Daubechies (db3), symlets (sym3), and biorthogonal (bio3.3, bio3.5, and bio3.7) wavelet filters. We propose a novel technique to extract energy signatures obtained using 2-D discrete wavelet transform, and subject these signatures to different feature ranking and feature selection strategies. Here my project aims at the use of Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN), Fuzzy C-means (FCM) and K-means helps for the detection of glaucoma disease. For this, fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm and k-means algorithm is used. Fuzzy c-means results faster and reliably good clustering when compare to k-means.

Glaucoma Disease Diagnosis Using Feed Forward Neural Network ijcisjournal
Glaucoma is an eye disease which damages the optic nerve and or loss of the field of vision which leads to
complete blindness caused by the pressure buildup by the fluid of the eye i.e. the intraocular pressure
(IOP). This optic disorder with a gradual loss of the field of vision leads to progressive and irreversible
blindness, so it should be diagnosed and treated properly at an early stage. In this paper,
thedaubechies(db3) or symlets (sym3)and reverse biorthogonal (rbio3.7) wavelet filters are employed for
obtaining average and energy texture feature which are used to classify glaucoma disease with high
accuracy. The Feed-Forward neural network classifies the glaucoma disease with an accuracy of 96.67%.
In this work, the computational complexity is minimized by reducing the number of filters while retaining
the same accuracy.

Microarray spot partitioning by autonomously organising maps through contour ...IJECEIAES
In cDNA microarray image analysis, classification of pixels as forefront area and the area covered by background is very challenging. In microarray experimentation, identifying forefront area of desired spots is nothing but computation of forefront pixels concentration, area covered by spot and shape of the spots. In this piece of writing, an innovative way for spot partitioning of microarray images using autonomously organizing maps (AOM) method through C-V model has been proposed. Concept of neural networks has been incorpated to train and to test microarray spots. In a trained AOM the comprehensive information arising from the prototypes of created neurons are clearly integrated to decide whether to get smaller or get bigger of contour. During the process of optimization, this is done in an iterative manner. Next using C-V model, inside curve area of trained spot is compared with test spot finally curve fitting is done. The presented model can handle spots with variations in terms of shape and quality of the spots and meanwhile it is robust to the noise. From the review of experimental work, presented approach is accurate over the approaches like C-means by fuzzy, Morphology sectionalization.

A Pattern Classification Based approach for Blur Classificationijeei-iaes
Blur type identification is one of the most crucial step of image restoration. In case of blind restoration of such images, it is generally assumed that the blur type is known prior to restoration of such images. However, it is not practical in real applications. So, blur type identification is extremely desirable before application of blind restoration technique to restore a blurred image. An approach to categorize blur in three classes namely motion, defocus, and combined blur is presented in this paper. Curvelet transform based energy features are utilized as features of blur patterns and a neural network is designed for classification. The simulation results show preciseness of proposed approach.
Target Detection Using Multi Resolution Analysis for Camouflaged Images ijcisjournal
Target detection is a challenging problem having many applications in defense and civil. Most of the
targets in defense are camouflaged. It is difficult for a system to detect camouflaged targets in an image. A
novel and constructive approach is proposing to detect object in camouflage images. This method uses
various methodologies such as 2-D DWT, gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM), wavelet coefficient
features, region growing algorithm and canny edge detection. Target detection is achieved by calculating
wavelet coefficient features from GLCM of transformed sub blocks of the image. Seed block is obtained by
evaluating wavelet coefficient features. Finally the camouflage object is highlighted using image
processing schemes. The proposed target detection system is implemented in Matlab 7.7.0 and tested on
different kinds of images.
Spectral analysis of remotely sensed images provide the required information accurately even for small
targets. Hence Hyperspectral imaging is being used which follows the technique of dividing images into
bands. These Hyperspectral images find their applications in agriculture, biomedical, marine analysis, oil
seeps detection etc. A Hyperspectral image contains many spectra, one for each individual point on the
sample’s surface and in this project the required target on the Hyperspectral image is going to be detected
and classified. Hyperspectral remote sensing image classification is a challenging problem because of its
high dimensional inputs, many class outputs and limited availability of reference data. Therefore some
powerful techniques to improve the accuracy of classification are required. The objective of our project is
to reduce the dimensionality of the Hyperspectral image using Principal Component Analysis followed by
classification using Neural Network. The project is to be implemented using MATLAB.
Ensemble Classifications of Wavelets based GLCM Texture Feature from MR Human...rahulmonikasharma
This paper presents an automatic image analysis of multi-model views of MR brain using ensemble classifications of wavelets based texture feature. Primarily, an input MR image has pre-processed for an enhancement process. Then, the pre-processed image is decomposed into different frequency sub-band image using 2D stationary and discrete wavelet transform. The GLCM texture feature information is extracted from the above low-frequency sub band image of 2D discrete and stationary wavelet transform. The extracted texture features are given as an input to ensemble classifiers of Gentle Boost and Bagged Tree classifiers to recognize the appropriate image samples. Image abnormality has extracted from the recognized abnormal image samples of classifiers using multi-level Otsu thresholding. Finally, the performance of two ensemble classifiers performance has analyzed using sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and MCC measures of two different wavelet based GLCM texture features. The resultant proposed feature extraction technique achieves the maximum level of accuracy is 90.70% with the fraction of 0.78 MCC value.

In this paper, the proposed approach consists of mainly three important steps: preprocessing, gridding and segmentation of micro array images. Initially, the microarray image is preprocessed using filtering and morphological operators and it is given for gridding to fit a grid on the images using hill-climbing algorithm. Subsequently, the segmentation is carried out using the fuzzy c-means clustering. Initially the enhanced fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm (EFCMC) is implemented to effectively clustering the image whether the image may be affected by the noises or not. Then, the EFCM method was employed the real microarray images and noisy microarray images in order to investigate the efficiency of the segmentation. Finally, the segmentation efficiency of the proposed approach was compared with the various algorithms in terms of quality index and the obtained results ensures that the performance efficiency of the proposed algorithm was improved in term of quality index rather than other algorithms.

Abstract:
A technique for exudate detectionin fundus image is been presented in this paper. Due to diabetic retinopathy an abnormality is caused known as exudates. The loss of vision can be prevented by detecting the exudates as early as possible. The work mainly aims at detecting exudates which is present in the green channel of the RGB image by applying few preprocessing steps, DWT and feature extraction. The extracted features are fed to 3 different classifiers such as KNN, SVM and NN. Based on the classifier result if an exudate is present the extraction of exudate ROI is done based on canny edge detection followed by morphological operations. The severity of the exudates is established on the area of the detected exudate.

There are three major complications of diabetes which lead to blindness. They are retinopathy, cataracts, and glaucoma among which diabetic retinopathy is considered as the most serious complication affecting the blood vessels in the retina. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) occurs when tiny vessels swell and leak fluid or abnormal new blood vessels grow hampering normal vision.
Diabetic retinopathy is a widespread problem of visual impairment. The abnormalities like microaneurysms, hemorrhages and exudates are the key symptoms which play an important role in diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. Early detection of these abnormalities may prevent the blurred vision or vision loss due to diabetic retinopathy. Basically exudates are lipid lesions able to be seen in optical images. Exudates are categorized into hard exudates and soft exudates based on its appearance. Hard exudates come out as intense yellow regions and soft exudates have fuzzy manifestations. Automatic detection of exudates may aid ophthalmologists in diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy and its early treatment. Fig. 1 shows the key symptoms of diabetic retinopathy.
A Novel Approach for Diabetic Retinopthy ClassificationIJERA Editor
Sustainable Diabetic Mellitus may lead to several complications towards patients. One of the complications is
diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is the type of complication towards the retinal and interferes with
patient’s sight. Medical examination toward patients with diabetic retinopathy is observed directly through
retinal images using fundus camera. Diabetic retinopathy is classified into four classes based on severity, which
are: normal, non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR), proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), and
macular edema (ME). The aim of this research is to develop a method which can be used to classify the level of
severity of diabetic retinopathy based on patient’s retinal images. Seven texture features were extracted from
retinal images using gray level co-occurence matrix three dimensional method (3D-GLCM). These features are
maximum probability, correlation, contrast, energy, homogeneity, and entropy; subsequently trained using
Levenberg-Marquardt Backpropagation Neural Network (LMBP). This study used 600 data of patient’s retinal
images, consist of 450 data retinal images for training and 150 data retinal images for testing. Based on the result
of this test, the method can classify the severity of diabetic retinopathy with sensitivity of 97.37%, specificity of
75% and accuracy of 91.67%

Based on the result
of this test, the method can classify the severity of diabetic retinopathy with sensitivity of 97.37%, specificity of
75% and accuracy of 91.67%
DETECTION OF HARD EXUDATES USING SIMULATED ANNEALING BASED THRESHOLDING MECHA...cscpconf
Diabetic retinopathy is a disease commonly found in case of diabetes mellitus patients. It causes severe damage to retina and may lead to complete or partial visual loss. In case of diabetic retinopathy retinal blood vessel gets damaged and protein and fat based particles gets leaked out of the damaged blood vessels and are deposited in the intra-retinal space. They are normally seen as whitish marks of various shape and are called as exudates. Exudates are primary indication of diabetic retinopathy. As changes occurs due to the disease is irreversible in nature, the disease must be detected in early stages to prevent visual loss. But detection of exudates in early stages of the disease is extremely difficult only by visual inspection because of small diameter of human eye. But an efficient automated computerized system can have the
ability to detect the disease in very early stage. In this paper we have proposed one such method.

A Wavelet Based Automatic Segmentation of Brain Tumor in CT Images Using Opti...CSCJournals
This paper presents an automated segmentation of brain tumors in computed tomography images (CT) using combination of Wavelet Statistical Texture features (WST) obtained from 2-level Discrete Wavelet Transformed (DWT) low and high frequency sub bands and Wavelet Co-occurrence Texture features (WCT) obtained from two level Discrete Wavelet Transformed (DWT) high frequency sub bands. In the proposed method, the wavelet based optimal texture features that distinguish between the brain tissue, benign tumor and malignant tumor tissue is found. Comparative studies of texture analysis is performed for the proposed combined wavelet based texture analysis method and Spatial Gray Level Dependence Method (SGLDM). Our proposed system consists of four phases i) Discrete Wavelet Decomposition (ii) Feature extraction (iii) Feature selection (iv) Classification and evaluation. The combined Wavelet Statistical Texture feature set (WST) and Wavelet Co-occurrence Texture feature (WCT) sets are derived from normal and tumor regions. Feature selection is performed by Genetic Algorithm (GA). These optimal features are used to segment the tumor. An Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) classifier is employed to evaluate the performance of these features and by comparing the classification results of the PNN classifier with the Feed Forward Neural Network classifier(FFNN).The results of the Probabilistic Neural Network, FFNN classifiers for the texture analysis methods are evaluated using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated on a series of brain tumor images. The results illustrate that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.
AN AUTOMATIC SCREENING METHOD TO DETECT OPTIC DISC IN THE RETINAijait
The location of Optic Disc (OD) is of critical importance in retinal image analysis. This research paper carries out a new automated methodology to detect the optic disc (OD) in retinal images. OD detection helps the ophthalmologists to find whether the patient is affected by diabetic retinopathy or not. The proposed technique is to use line operator which gives higher percentage of detection than the already existing methods. The purpose of this project is to automatically detect the position of the OD in digital retinal fundus images. The method starts with converting the RGB image input into its LAB component. This image is smoothed using bilateral smoothing filter. Further, filtering is carried out using line operator. After which gray orientation and binary map orientation is carried out and then with the use of the resulting maximum image variation the area of the presence of the OD is found. The portions other
than OD are blurred using 2D circular convolution. On applying mathematical steps like peak classification, concentric circles design and image difference calculation, OD is detected. The proposed method was evaluated using a subset of the STARE project’s dataset and the success percentage was found
to be 96%.

Brain Image Fusion using DWT and Laplacian Pyramid Approach and Tumor Detecti...INFOGAIN PUBLICATION
Image fusion is the process of combining important information from two or more images into a single image. The resulting image will be more enhanced than any of the input pictures. The idea of combining multiple image modalities to furnish a single, more enhanced image is well established, special fusion methods have been proposed in literature. This paper is based on image fusion using laplacian pyramid and Discreet Wavelet Transform (DWT) methods. This system uses an easy and effective algorithm for multi-focus image fusion which uses fusion rules to create fused image. Subsequently, the fused image is obtained by applying inverse discreet wavelet transform. After fused image is obtained, watershed segmentation algorithm is applied to detect the tumor part in fused image.
Mr image compression based on selection of mother wavelet and lifting based w...ijma
Magnetic Resonance (MR) image is a medical image technique required enormous data to be stored and
transmitted for high quality diagnostic application. Various algorithms have been proposed to improve the
performance of the compression scheme. In this paper we extended the commonly used algorithms to image
compression and compared its performance. For an image compression technique, we have linked different
wavelet techniques using traditional mother wavelets and lifting based Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau
wavelets with the low-pass filters of the length 9 and 7 (CDF 9/7) wavelet transform with Set Partition in
Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT) algorithm. A novel image quality index with highlighting shape of histogram
of the image targeted is introduced to assess image compression quality. The index will be used in place of
existing traditional Universal Image Quality Index (UIQI) “in one go”. It offers extra information about
the distortion between an original image and a compressed image in comparisons with UIQI. The proposed
index is designed based on modelling image compression as combinations of four major factors: loss of
correlation, luminance distortion, contrast distortion and shape distortion. This index is easy to calculate
and applicable in various image processing applications. One of our contributions is to demonstrate the
choice of mother wavelet is very important for achieving superior wavelet compression performances based
on proposed image quality indexes. Experimental results show that the proposed image quality index plays
a significantly role in the quality evaluation of image compression on the open sources “BrainWeb:
Simulated Brain Database (SBD) ”.
Automated Diagnosis of Glaucoma using Haralick Texture FeaturesIOSR Journals
Abstract : Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. It is a disease in which fluid
pressure in the eye increases continuously, damaging the optic nerve and causing vision loss. Computational
decision support systems for the early detection of glaucoma can help prevent this complication. The retinal
optic nerve fibre layer can be assessed using optical coherence tomography, scanning laser polarimetry, and
Heidelberg retina tomography scanning methods. In this paper, we present a novel method for glaucoma
detection using an Haralick Texture Features from digital fundus images. K Nearest Neighbors (KNN)
classifiers are used to perform supervised classification. Our results demonstrate that the Haralick Texture
Features has Database and classification parts, in Database the image has been loaded and Gray Level Cooccurrence
Matrix (GLCM) and thirteen haralick features are combined to extract the image features, performs
better than the other classifiers and correctly identifies the glaucoma images with an accuracy of more than
98%. The impact of training and testing is also studied to improve results. Our proposed novel features are
clinically significant and can be used to detect glaucoma accurately.

AN EFFICIENT WAVELET BASED FEATURE REDUCTION AND CLASSIFICATION TECHNIQUE FOR...ijcseit
This research paper proposes an improved feature reduction and classification technique to identify mild and severe dementia from brain MRI data. The manual interpretation of changes in brain volume based on visual examination by radiologist or a physician may lead to missing diagnosis when a large number of MRIs are analyzed. To avoid the human error, an automated intelligent classification system is proposed
which caters the need for classification of brain MRI after identifying abnormal MRI volume, for the diagnosis of dementia. In this research work, advanced classification techniques using Support Vector Machines based on Particle Swarm Optimisation and Genetic algorithm are compared. Feature reduction
by wavelets and PCA are analysed. From this analysis, it is observed that the proposed classification of SVM based PSO is found to be efficient than SVM trained with GA and wavelet based feature reduction technique yields better results than PCA.

Making model of dual axis solar tracking with Maximum Power Point Trackingijsrd.com
Now a days solar harvesting is more popular. As the popularity become higher the material quality and solar tracking methods are more improved. There are several factors affecting the solar system. Major influence on solar cell, intensity of source radiation and storage techniques The materials used in solar cell manufacturing limit the efficiency of solar cell. This makes it particularly difficult to make considerable improvements in the performance of the cell, and hence restricts the efficiency of the overall collection process. Therefore, the most attainable maximum power point tracking method of improving the performance of solar power collection is to increase the mean intensity of radiation received from the source used. The purposed of tracking system controls elevation and orientation angles of solar panels such that the panels always maintain perpendicular to the sunlight. The measured variables of our automatic system were compared with those of a fixed angle PV system. As a result of the experiment, the voltage generated by the proposed tracking system has an overall of about 28.11% more than the fixed angle PV system. There are three major approaches for maximizing power extraction in medium and large scale systems. They are sun tracking, maximum power point (MPP) tracking or both.

Reducing Silicon Real Estate and Switching Activity Using Low Power Test Patt...ijsrd.com
Power dissipation is a challenging problem for today's system-on-chip design and test. This paper presents a novel architecture which generates the test patterns with reduced switching activities; it has the advantage of low test power and low hardware overhead. The proposed LP-TPG (test pattern generator) structure consists of modified low power linear feedback shift register (LP-LFSR), m-bit counter, gray counter, NOR-gate structure and XOR-array. The seed generated from LP-LFSR is EXCLUSIVE-OR ed with the data generated from gray code generator. The XOR result of the sequence is single input changing (SIC) sequence, in turn reduces the switching activity and so power dissipation will be very less. The proposed architecture is simulated using Modelsim and synthesized using Xilinx ISE9.2.The Xilinx chip scope tool will be used to test the logic running on FPGA.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

INTRODUCTIONI.
Glaucoma is a disease of the major nerve of vision, called
the optic nerve. The optic nerve receives light from the
retina and transmits impulses to the brain that we perceive
as vision. Glaucoma is characterized by a particular pattern
of progressive damage to the optic nerve that generally
begins with a subtle loss of side vision (peripheral vision). If
glaucoma is not diagnosed and treated, it can progress to
loss of central vision and blindness. Glaucoma is a disease
of the eye which accounts for 10% of blindness in the world
and occurs in 2% to 3% of the American population over the
age of 35. There is gradual visual field loss during the
progression of the disease and there is a characteristic type
of damage to the retinal nerve fiber layer associated with
glaucoma. The disease is most easily controlled when
diagnosed at an early stage. It would be useful to have an
accurate, sensitive, and specific method of screening for the
disease. Here my project aims at the use of PNN, K-means
and fuzzy c-means clustering helps for the detection of
glaucoma disease.
In this paper, we investigate the discriminatory potential of
wavelet features obtained from the daubechies (db3),
symlets (sym3), and biorthogonal (bio3.3, bio3.5, and
bio3.7) wavelet filters. We propose a novel technique to
extract energy signatures obtained using 2-D discrete
wavelet transform, and subject these signatures to different
feature ranking and feature selection strategies [1].
In light of the diagnostic challenge at hand, recent advances
in biomedical imaging offer effective quantitative imaging
alternatives for the detection and management of glaucoma.
Several imaging modalities and their enhancements,
including optical coherence tomography[2] and multifocal
electroretinograph(mfERG) [3], are prominent techniques
employed to quantitatively analyze structural and functional
abnormalities in the eye both to observe variability and to
quantify the progression of the disease objectively [4].
Automated clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) in
ophthalmology, such as glaucoma [5], [6], are designed to
create effective decision support systems for the
identification of disease pathology in human eyes. These
CDSSs have used glaucoma as a predominant case study for
decades. Such CDSSs are based on retinal image analysis
techniques that are used to extract structural, contextual, or
textural features from retinal images to effectively
distinguish between normal and diseased samples.
The existing methods like optical coherence tomography [2]
and multifocal electroretinograph (mfERG) have different
drawbacks like feature extract using any method. Output
efficiency is very low. In these method not bound to specific
location on original image. Therefore here use the method
with DWT. The main advantages of these are several feature
extraction the output will get very good efficiency. Three
wavelet filters are extract feature very efficiently and then
classified in normal and abnormal images. The segmentation
of the abnormal image using FCM and K-means is
occurred. The dataset contains 20 fundus images: 10 normal
and 10 open angle glaucomatous images
In this paper, a novel automated, reliable and efficient optic
disc localization and segmentation method using digital
fundus images is proposed. General-purpose edge detection
algorithms often fail to segment the optic disc (OD) due to
fuzzy boundaries, inconsistent image contrast or missing
edge features [7]. This paper proposes fuzzy clustering
based segmentation to segment optic disc in retinal fundus
images. Optic disc pixel intensity and column wise
neighborhood operation is employed to locate and isolate
the optic disc. The method has been evaluated on 20 images
comprising 10 normal, 10 glaucomatous. Figure 1 shows the
typical fundus images of normal and glaucomatous images.

This paper is organized as follows: Section II includes the
methodology. Section III presents the system model for the
proposed work. Section IV gives the experimental results
and discussions. The paper is concluded in Section V.
METHODOLOGYII.
The images in the dataset were subjected to standard
histogram equalization [1]. The objective of applying
histogram equalization was twofold: to assign the intensity
values of pixels in the input image, such that the output
image contained a uniform distribution of intensities, and to
increase the dynamic range of the histogram of an
image. Here glaucomatous image can be classified and
segmented using PNN (probabilistic neural network), Fuzzy
c-means and K-means respectively. In my work
automatically classify normal eye images and diseased
glaucoma eye images based on the distribution of average
texture features obtained from three prominent wavelet
families. Hence, my objective is to evaluate and select
prominent features for enhanced specificity and sensitivity
of glaucomatous image classification. The following
detailed procedure was then employed as the feature
extraction procedure on all the images before proceeding to
the feature ranking and feature selection schemes.
A. Discrete Wavelet Transform-Based Features
The DWT captures both the spatial and frequency
information of a signal [1]. DWT analyses the image by
decomposing it into a coarse approximation via low-pass
filtering and into detail information via high-pass filtering.
Such decomposition is performed recursively on low-pass
approximation coefficients obtained at each level, until the
necessary iterations are reached. Let each image be
represented as a p × q gray-scale matrix I[i,j], where each
element of the matrix represents the gray scale intensity of
one pixel of the image. Each non border pixel has eight
adjacent neighbouring pixel intensities. These eight
neighbours can be used to traverse the matrix. The resultant
2-DDWTcoefficients are the same irrespective of whether
the matrix is traversed right-to-left or left-to-right. Hence, it
is sufficient that we consider four decomposition directions
corresponding to 0◦ (horizontal, Dh), 45◦ (diagonal, Dd), 90◦
(vertical, Dv), and 135◦ (diagonal, Dd) orientations. The
decomposition structure for one level is illustrated in Fig.2
Fig. 2:D-DWT decomposition: 2ds1 indicates that rows are
down sampled by two and columns by one. 1ds2 indicates
that rows are down sampled by one and columns by two.
The “×” operator indicates convolution operation.
In this figure, I is the image, g[n] and h[n] are the low-pass
And high-pass filters, respectively, and A is the
approximation coefficient. In this study, the results from
level 1 are found to yield significant features. As is evident
from Fig.2, the first level of decomposition results in four
coefficient matrices, namely, A1, Dh1, Dv1, and Dd1. Since
the number of elements in these matrices is high, and since
we only need a single number as a representative feature, we
employed averaging methods to determine such single
valued features. The definitions of the three features that
were determined using the DWT coefficients are in order.
Equations (2.1) and (2.2) determine the averages of the
corresponding intensity values, whereas (2.3) is an
averaging of the energy of the intensity values.

B. Pre-processing Of Features
From the above features can be found among the normal and
glaucomatous image samples. Their corresponding
distribution across these samples is obtained. In pre-
processing of image salt and pepper noise can be added into
the images and it also removed by using median filter. And
histogram equalization is applied in pre-processing.
C. Normalization of Features
Each of the features is subject to histogram equalization [1].
The objective of applying histogram equalization was
twofold: to assign the intensity values of pixels in the input
image, such that the output image contained a uniform
distribution of intensities, and to increase the dynamic range
of the histogram of an image scored normalized distribution
for each of the features across the 10 Glaucoma and 10
normal samples used in this study.
D. Feature Ranking
Feature ranking is a pre-processing step that precedes
classification [1]. Here our focus on using filter-based
approaches to rank the features based on their
discriminatory potential across samples. Since our objective
is to estimate the effectiveness of the wavelet features.
E. Classification
Here the features of images that obtained from test images
and the features of images in the dataset are compared. And
normal and glaucomatous image can be classified using
PNN (Probabilistic Neural Network).Probabilistic networks
perform classification where the target variable is
categorical. By using PNN images can be classified into
normal and glaucomatous image (abnormal image). If the
image is glaucomatous then it is segmented using Fuzzy c-
means and K-means. Fuzzy c-mean results faster and
reliably good clustering when compare to k-mean.
Clustering is the process of dividing the data elements into
classes or clusters so that items in the same class are similar
as possible, and items in different classes are dissimilar as
possible. Fuzzy clustering is a class of algorithms for cluster

analysis in which allocation of data points to clusters is
fuzzy. In fuzzy clustering, data elements can belong to more
than one cluster, and associated with each element is a set of
membership levels. These indicate the strength of
association between that data element and a particular
cluster. Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) is an unsupervised
clustering algorithm that has been applied to wide range of
problems involving feature analysis, clustering and classifier
design. FCM attempts to find the most characteristic point in
each cluster, which can be considered as the centre of the
cluster and then the grade of membership for each object in
the cluster.
E. Fuzzy C-Means Clustering Algorithm
FCM clustering techniques are based on fuzzy behaviour
and provide a natural technique for producing a clustering
where membership weights have a natural interpretation.
Clusters are formed based on the distance between two data
points. In this algorithm data are bound to each cluster by
means of a membership function, which represents the fuzzy
behaviour of the algorithm. To do this algorithm have to
build an appropriate matrix whose factors are numbers
between 0 and 1,and represent the degree of membership
between data and centres of clusters. FCM is a method of
clustering which allows one piece of data to belong to two
or more clusters. It is based on the minimization of objective

measured data, cj is the d-dimension centre of the cluster,
and || * || is any norm expressing the similarity between any
measured data and the center. Fuzzy partitioning is carried
out through an iterative optimization of the objective
function with the update of membership uij and the cluster
centres cj by:

minimum or saddle point of Jm. The algorithm is composed
of following steps:

In this algorithm, data are bound to each cluster by
means of a Membership function, which represents the
fuzzy behaviour of the algorithm. FCM clustering
techniques are based on fuzzy behaviour and provide a
natural technique for producing a clustering where
membership weights have a natural (but not probabilistic)
interpretation. This algorithm is similar in structure to the K-
Means algorithm and also behaves in a similar way [8], [9].
F. Clustering Using K-Means Algorithm
K-Means is one of the simplest unsupervised learning
algorithms that solve the well-known clustering problem.
The procedure follows a simple and easy way to classify a
given data set through a certain number of clusters (assume
k clusters) fixed a priori [10]. The main idea is to define k
centroids, one for each cluster. These centroids should be
placed in a cunning way because of different location causes
different result. So, the better choice is to place them as
much as possible far away from each other. The next step is
to take each point belonging to a given data set and associate
it to the nearest centroid. When no point is pending, the first
step is completed and an early group age is done. At this
point it is necessary to re-calculate k new centroids as bar
centers of the clusters resulting from the previous step. After
obtaining these k new centroids, a new binding has to be
done between the same data set points and the nearest new
centroid. A loop has been generated. As a result of this loop,
one may notice that the k centroids change their location
step by step until no more changes are done. In other words
centroids do not move any more. Finally, this algorithm
aims at minimizing an objective function; in this case a
squared error function is shown in equation 2.6.

is a chosen distance measure between a
data point xi and the cluster center cj, is an indicator of the
distance of the n data points from their respective cluster
centers. The algorithm is composed of the following steps:
Step 1: Place K points into the space represented by the
objects that are being clustered. These points represent
initial group centroids.
Step 2: Assign each object to the group that has the closest
centroid.
Step 3: When all objects have been assigned, recalculate the
positions of the K centroids.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the centroids no longer
move.
This produces a separation of the objects into groups from
which the metric to be minimized can be calculated.
Although it can be proved that the procedure will always
terminate, the K-Means algorithm does not necessarily find
the most optimal configuration, corresponding to the global
objective function minimum. The algorithm is also
significantly sensitive to the initial randomly selected cluster
centers. K-Means is a simple algorithm that has been
adapted to many problem domains and it is a good candidate
to work for a randomly generated data points. One of the
most popular heuristics for solving the K-Means problem is
based on a simple iterative scheme for finding a locally
minimal solution. This algorithm is often called the K-
Means algorithm [10].And flowchart of K-Means method is
shown in figure 3.

very high accuracy. In future application, it can be used to
