The Educational Training Fund (ETF) is a demand-driven capacity building approach used by FHI 360 on its UGM Project in South Africa. Through the ETF, partners could access over 136 different learning opportunities like courses, conferences, and professional memberships. This allowed staff at various levels to strengthen their skills in areas like financial management, M&E, and governance. Evaluations found the ETF improved service delivery and organizational effectiveness. Lessons learned included the benefits of investing in frontline health workers and the importance of organizational ownership over capacity strengthening.

Symposium CONF 303 Support strategy in change management for the transformati...PMI-Montréal
The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is going through a once in a lifetime transformation to better meet its academic health centre missions. It's 2,355 billion dollar redevelopment project results in the construction and modernization of three (3) state of the art sites: The Glen Site, the Montreal General Hospital and the Lachine Hospital (The Montreal Neurological Hospital will remain at its present site until 2019 at which date will be moved to the Glen Site). The changes entailed in the transformation of the MUHC have a major impact on all its activities, staff, doctors and community. They affect processes, information systems, clinical practices and especially the people. The conference will cover strategies aimed to equip and assist managers and their teams to implement and sustain the various changes needed to perform the transformation of the MUHC while fostering the mobilization of individuals and the maintenance of the quality in its services. Furthermore, the conference will cover other corperate support for its managers and employees as well as its strategy for the training and orientation of its approximately 8,000 employees moving to the new Glen Site in Spring 2015.

Sida msd evaluation stockholm evaluation week - september 2018Itad Ltd
Itad’s Tim Ruffer was at Stockholm Evaluation Week (SEW), which this year centred around the theme of ‘Evaluation Capacity Development’.
Tim presented findings from our evaluation of Sida’s management of Market Systems Development(MSD) projects. The evaluation was commissioned with two purposes: (i) to provide recommendations for improvements to Sida’s MSD programming, which has grown rapidly in recent years; and (ii) to inform a wider review by Sida of its programming – particularly in complex and unpredictable contexts where adaptive programming is increasingly recognised as being desirable.
An overview on the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). This slide presentation covers the basic steps of accreditation and the assessment criteria of the NBA. Outcome Based Education (OBE) is also mentioned accordingly.
Research-for-development (R4D) has been viewed as generating evidence on the effectiveness of foreign aid, inventing new technologies that serve poor people, and strengthening research capabilities in poor countries. What determines which of these policy goals are pursued?
Public research funders adjust their approach based on past experience and on the expectations within their home governments. These dynamics influence how R4D is defined and funded, which carry implications for researchers at home and abroad.

Perception of Public Works - APWA Conference OHM Advisors
On May 20, 2015, Bill Costick of OHM Advisors presented at the American Public Works Association (APWA) annual conference: "Perception of Public Works".
If you are getting the job done, why should you have to worry about your department’s image in your community? Citizen awareness can have a powerful impact on community opinion and citizens’ support for their local government. Bill presented several measures that a department can take to enhance their community image and level of respect - all while not busting the budget.

Placemaking for Communities: Creating something from nothingOHM Advisors
SOMETHING FROM NOTHING: WHERE TO START WHEN THERE IS NO “PLACE” TO BE FOUND - More at http://www.ohm-advisors.com
Waiting for your community’s Big Bang moment? Well, wait no longer. OHM's President,John Hiltz, Jim Houk and Bill Costick discuss how communities can create places from little bits of nothing. This presentation was the keynote address at the 15th Annual Oakland County Heritage Conference and was also presented at the 2012 Michigan Municipal League Convention.
Placemaking is Focused on the importance of lively neighborhoods and inviting public spaces.
There are 4 primary ingredients of a successful public space:
• Easily accessible by various routes and modes of transportation
• The space must be active, and include activities for a variety of user groups
• The space must have a good image, and becomfortable and attractive
• The space promotes social interactions
Four reasons for communities to practice placemaking:
1. To promote healthy lifestyles
2. To meet changing market demands
3. To accommodate the changing structure of US households (increase in single and childless households)
4. The new economy is a knowledge based economy where workers seek high quality of life. It's place first, job second.
Placemaking makes economic sense, too. Social offerings, aesthetics, and friendliness/openness foster community attachment which increases spending.
Social and demographic trends demand quality of place.
Business/Economic Development also demands quality
of place.
Features placemaking case studies of:
-Creekside, Gahanna, Ohio, a public-private partnership
-Hilliard, Ohio
-Westland, Michigan
-Auburn Hills, Michigan
And finally, our favorite reason for placemaking, from the Project for Public Spaces:
AFFECTION
There is generally more smiling, kissing, embracing, holding and shaking of hands, and so forth in good public places than in those that are problematic.
Strategic Asset Management: Knowing Where to SpendOHM Advisors
It's not about spending more, it's about optimizing current spending - that was the message of Assetic's Brad Campbell at OHM Advisors 2015 Asset Management Planning Workshop in Midland, MI.
The U.S. Bureau of labor Statistics projects STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related careers will grow to more than 9 million between 2012 and 2022, an increase of 1 million jobs in the 10-year time span. To meet this growing trend, school districts are adopting STEM-based curriculums to better prepare students for the 21st Century workforce demand through the development of specialized skills, critical thinking, and creative problem solving techniques. This session will explore how the recently completed Marysville STEM Academy has transformed the educational environment and discuss the inclusion of public and private partnerships to promote business and industry engagement in STEM education. Diane Mankins, Superintendent, and Kathy McKinniss, Principal, of Marysville Exempted Village Schools, will join Gary Sebach, OHM Advisors’ Director of Architecture, to discuss how a vacant school in the Marysville EVS District was converted into a creative, collaborative, and unique learning environment to support STEM related education
People gain knowledge if they learn from experience. Learning is thus a vital component of knowledge management and its ultimate end. Collective learning comes from participating in the social processes of collaboration, sharing knowledge, and building on one another's ideas.

Factors impacting the success in increasing adoption - Bill Ashraf, Strategic...Blackboard APAC
Institutions recognise how new technology can enhance the learning and teaching experience for staff and students. Increasingly they are looking to technology to support them in achieving their strategic goals. However, there are a range of obstacles to the adoption of technology that institutions must overcome. Change of any kind is daunting, particularly when dealing with long-established methods and systems. Success depends on shifting entrenched culture and attitudes. Join us as Bill shares practical tips, ideas, resources and real-life examples. We've built the story around six key characteristics required of a successful adoption project.

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

Editor's Notes
Does the branding need to continue on each page?
Will need to discuss the change from “Capacity Building” to “Capacity Strengthening” as per the CS in country conversation
-Should this be 450? That is what was included in the 2-pager -Strongly suggest the color and placement for each domain match the previous slide – currently difficult to compare
