Squaw Valley Resort Case Study
While listening to the interview of Andy Wirth with Madeline Brand with KCRW, I came to know
about the declining weather and its effects on skiing business. When Madeline asked Wirth about
the skiing business of Squaw Valley last winter, he mentioned that the slight decline of 20 percent in
his resort business. Due to the massive changes in the weather patterns in last season, snowfall and
precipitation pattern were drastically affected. As a result, Squaw Valley received less snow fall
and comparatively less visitors last winter.
Because the Squaw Valley Resort is known for offering an array of recreational opportunities for
skiers and snowboarders alike, decrease in snowfall certainly affects the business of this ski resort in
Lake Tahoe. Madeline comes up with the question based on a situation where avid skiers finding
just a few inches of snow in a peak skiing month like February. Andy replied to this question with
a clear statistical report. Based on the weather and snow reports of last year s December and
January, it seems that Squaw Valley received good inches of snow. Although the changing weather
pattern did slow the snowfall in this area later in the year, skiers found some good trails to ... Show

snow making equipments, they are all set for a better skiing season this year. When Madeline asks
about omino in Southern California, Wirth answered very tactfully. A mineralogist from Colorado
State University also came to the site for checking the weather and earth conditions. What he found
is good moisture in air and favorable condition for a wet winter. This can also mean a rainy winter,
asks Madeline after hearing this. While Andy is unsure about this, he mentioned about the absence
of certain materials and elements that could possibly lead to warmer temperatures in the

to expect, helping them prepare, offering checklists of what to do and what not to do, and more.

Jonathan Swift s Gulliver in the Land of the Houyhnhnms...
Jonathan Swift s Gulliver in the Land of the Houyhnhnms
In the last voyage in Jonathan Swift s book Gulliver s Travels, A voyage to the country of the
Houyhnhnms, Swift describes his idea of an ideal society. There are many examples provided in
this part of the book to convince the reader that Swift is indeed illustrating his idea of a utopia. By
using horses as the most reasonable creature, Swift not only defaces human society by making a
beast a more powerful creature, but also shows that humans are unable to attain this perfectly
reasonable society.
The society that the Houyhnhnms live in is unlike any society known to man. The Houyhnhnms
are perfect in the way they live their lives; they are always doing what is best for ... Show more

Gulliver explains the idea of war to the Master Houyhnhnm, and it is hard form him to understand
the significance of it and why it would ever be needed. This idea can be shown in the following
quotation: The Houyhnhnms, indeed, appear not to be so well prepared for war, a science to which
they are perfect strangers, and especially against missive weapons, (236). Gulliver tries to justify
the causes of war and attempts to explain this idea to the Houyhnhnms, who can not grasp the
concept of why such a thing would ever be necessary. The Houyhnhnms do not even have a word
to describe such evil, as it is not something that exists in their world. The Master listens to all of
Gulliver s stories and decides that humans are not unlike the Yahoo s after all. The Yahoo s are
characterized by their greed and selfishness throughout the book, and humans are viewed to be of
the same nature.
Swift thinks that the Houyhnhnm society is the ideal society; for this revealed by the way that he
shows Gulliver wanting to become just like them. Swift does not like the European culture which is
very different from that of the Houyhnhnms. Swifts major focus is on reason and thinks that a
completely reasonable society would be a perfect one; which is what the Houyhnhnm society
revolves around. Swift is always pointing out faults in humans and how they are not as perfect as
the Houyhnhnms,

Cabernet Sauvignon With My Brother Analysis
Analyse how ideas were used to comment on the nature of society in the written Texts. In the
Short Story Cabernet Sauvignon With My Brother written by Owen Marshall the ideas of self
sufficiency, privacy, revenue and depression are brought forward. Through these issues we can
see that the nature of relationships between people are of high importance. New Zealand is a
known country where people tend to live self sufficient life styles. This is shown through the
story in a number of ways. Raf the main character in the story believes in the two important ideas
of privacy and revenue this is seen through the fact that Raf gave up his job of being a lecturer at

How Is Heathcliff A Unsympathetic Character
In Wuthering Heights, BrontГ« presents Linton Heathcliff as arguably one of the most unlikeable,
unsympathetic characters of the novel: he is often described as peevish , is constantly unwell (
faint hearted creature ) and resorts to fits of coughing when he doesn t get his way. He plays a key
role in Heathcliffs revenge plot marrying Cathy to award Heathcliff control of both Thrushcross
Grange and the Heights (although this eventually fails) and reveals its futility in the mean time.
The second generation of the novel offers many parallels, albeit less wild and powerful ones,
with the first generation: the second Cathy is a milder, gentler version of her mother and Hareton
has a definite likeness to Heathcliff (their degradation, appearance etc. however their difference
lies in Hareton s pivotal capacity for forgiveness); Linton, however, is presented as an even more
insufferable, pathetic version of Edgar Linton: he might have been taken for [Edgar s] younger
brother, so strong was the resemblance . This similarity with both Edgar and Isabella (his enemies),
coupled with his name the ultimate insult to Heathcliff ( they wish me to hate it too, do they? )
emphasises the vast differences between them he is more Edgar s ... Show more content on

Essay on Reverend Hale
Reverend Hale
The Crucible written by Arthur Miller is a play that takes place in the sixteen nineties during the
famous but tragic witch trials. Reverend Hale who is a minister and an expert of the demonic
arts and witchcraft is sent from East Hanover to Salem where there is a spreading fear of
witchcraft. When Hale arrives in Salem he finds the entire town in total chaos. At the beginning
Hale is adamant in believing that they re where witches and that nothing but good could come of
his being there. Near the end when the truth has been exposed, Hale with so much blood on his
head pleads : I come to do the Devil s work. I come to counsel Christians they should belie

After a few days of court Hale visits several households without the courts authority, and goes to
John Proctors house to have a few words with John and his wife . At the end of the talks Proctor
states : And why not, if they must hang for denying it? There are them that will swear to anything
before they ll hang ; have you never thought of that? (69).
Hale knows that people will confess to anything to avoid being hanged, and he is deeply
troubled when he learns of Abigail s motifs for revenge. Respected people have told Hale that
the trials are non sense. He has tried to find holes in these people s reasoning, so he can be
reassured he hasn t made a big mistake in his aiding of the conviction of these people, but their
reasoning is completely logical. Hale becomes more aware of the truth near the end of Act II,
when Giles Corey and Francis Nurse report that their wives have been taken away. Reverend Hale
is surprised, but disturbed by the news because he thought of Rebecca as surely being innocent
when he met her. He says that, if Rebecca Nurse be tainted, then nothing s left to stop the whole
greenworld from burning (71). Hale then tries to explain her arrest by saying (in great pain) : Man
remember, until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven (71).
At this point Hale hopes that the trials are legitimate, and tries to account for unusual happenings,
but things just do not add up. The nail is put in the coffin in terms

Stand by Me
Stand By Me is a movie based on a novel by Stephen King. It tells the story of four preteens, who
during a boring summer day, embark on a journey to find the body of a dead twelve year old,
who has been missing by news accounts, but known to them, to be lying in the woods near a
river bank. The story is told as an historical narrative about the lives and relationships of the four
main characters in this movie, Gordy, Chris, Teddy, and Vern. In this essay, I will discuss how
communication, and self concept, affects the characters, and their interactions. Gordy La Chance,
who is the narrator of this story, can best be described as an introvert. He is living in the shadow
of his recently deceased brother, and is having a difficult... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of this would be when the group is walking along a railroad bridge and we find
Vern crawling, instead of walking, due to his fear of heights. Another example would be when
the boys are considering cutting through the woods to find the body, and he stays behind, trying
to reason with the group to follow the safe path along the railroad tracks, but in order to fit in, he
reluctantly follows. His presenting self is assured and agreeable. Inwardly, or his perceived self,
is actually worried, vulnerable, and gullible. Throughout this movie, we learn how relationships
are formed and maintained, and how our perceived self, and presenting self can be very different.
The boys continually use identity management to jockey for position in the group, however each
one knows where they actually belong. It is only when they encounter a difficult situation, that
they show their true emotions and feelings. They do stick up for each other, and show true
concern and caring when the need arises, however, in the presenting face, they play it much more
cool, and even somewhat unconcerned for each other s feelings. In the end, the relationship
between the four dwindles, and only Gordy and Chris remained friends. Gordy helped Chris to
overcome his self fulfilling prophecy by encouraging him to attend college, and become a lawyer.
Chris, in return became a significant force in

The Violence Of A Multi Ethnic Society
Samuel Huntington famously stated that the fiercest clashes have become battles between
civilizations, according to him these clashes are neither ideological or economic, but rather cultural.
Huntington couldn t have been more mistaken. In reality, the modern world has become plagued
with an increasing presence of intra state wars as modern conflict has become synonymous with
clashes between individuals, groups, and communities that differ very little . Freud attempted to
explain this perplexing occurrence as a narcissism of minor differences by stating that group
solidarity requires the existence of an Other , a minority, which through its suppression validates the
identity of the majority. According to this logic, all communities despite their homogeneity must
seek a minority within themselves in order to validate their existence. Bosnia s cosmopolitanism
prior to the Yugoslavian War provides us with a vivid example that this narcissism is a superficial
explanation as to why fraternal conflict occurs. Prior to the war, Bosnia was not only the most
ethnically integrated Yugoslavian republic, it was the poster child of a multi ethnic society in
which various ethnicities not only coexisted but rather intermingled. This peaceful coexistence was
disrupted by Slobodan Milosevic, Serbias president, who used Yugoslavias economic and political
crisis of 1988 in his favour by essentializing the crisis along the lines of ethnic national identity.

sula feminism
Feminism and anti feminism in Sula: Right or wrong? Feminism has been in society for
decades. In some societies, we see how women are kept in their boundaries. In some countries
women have to cover their entire bodies in clothing to keep from dishonoring their families. In
most traditional societies a woman is to remain virginal to be considered worthy of marriage. In
America, women were constrained to the household and weren t allowed to work or vote. These
actions were and are considered by some, anti feminist. But, when is feminism taken to far? Has
the act of feminism become an excuse for women to act out because we have rights? Or is it ok to
do so to be considered liberated. Whenever a woman does something negative she is in... Show

Of course some acts of feminism are to be considered acts of heroism. But, are women today
getting the wrong message from what Sula is all about? Sula is not about sleeping around to
prove her worth, or saying what she pleases to be rude. Sula is about the independence in a
woman. Not being submissive to a man, but being your own person. Sula represents the rights
women should have to do as they please without being wild as some women take being a
feminist as today. Feminism in retrospect is about having the same rights as men. But, that does
not make the wrong things that men do ok for a woman to do as well. Whether done by a man or
a woman, some behavior is still not appropriate. Feminism used to be about equal rights for jobs
and voting and important matters. Now, women use feminism and equal rights to perform
behavior that is not ideal behavior for anyone with good morals. As a country that believes in
Christ should feminism even exist? Women who have the wrong idea of feminism give up their
dignity and pride to be considered free. Women have sex freely and men still look down on
them. Instead of being viewed as pure you are viewed as dirty. If anything, the act of feminism
has caused women to be even more degraded today. Women expose themselves in music videos
and pornography. Women are looked at as mere objects of pleasure. If we stuck to the biblical
meaning of a woman, women could

Communication is sending and receiving information between two or more people. The person
sending the message is referred to as the sender, while the person receiving the information is called
the receiver. The information conveyed can include facts, ideas, concepts, opinions, beliefs,
attitudes, instructions and even emotions. Communicationin its most basic sense is transferring
information from sender to receiver. Communicating is the act of conveying information for the

The Open Boat
After surviving a shipwreck and being stuck on a ten foot dingy in the cold January waters with
three other men as they endure two days on the open sea. The short story by Stephen Crane The
Open Boat tells the journey through the narrative s point of view of man vs nature and the potent
relations, he retains with the three other passengers as they are forced to work together to survive.
The narrative s survival shows the compassion he gains of his comrades and new life that is
embraced through a mighty recovery after his life is saved. Unknown as what might be ahead all
four men embrace the hearty seaat full force working hard to break through the endless waves.
The correspondent and the oiler rowed together as the cook bailed out water and the captain laid
in the bow of the boat injured but able to give orders. All four men working fiercely, but
questioning their fate as they embrace the open ocean in a dinghy described to be as big as a
bathtub. The mind of the master of a vessel is rooted deep in the timbers of her, though he
command for a day or a decade; and this caption had on him the stern impression of a scene in
the grays of dawn of seven turned faces, and later a stump of a topmast with a white ball on it,
that slashed to a fro at the waves, went low and lower, and down. This expression told from the
narrative portrays the caption who is the mind of the master of the vessel to be hopeless which
has everyone in the dinghy questioning their survival. As dawn breaks through and the sun
begins to rise all four men are still hard at work trying to keep the dinghy afloat and in steer still
with doubt in their minds as they rowed deeper into the sea. Time passes and the cook tries to
ease the situation by being optimistic Bully good thing it s an on shore wind. he says and then
following with If not, where would we be? Wouldn t have a show. the oiler and correspondent both
agreeing and the captain snickering at the remark and replying Do you think we ve got much of

The Characteristics Of The Inner Planets In The Solar System
The Solar System
A solar system is defined as a star together with a group of celestial bodies that are held by its
attraction and revolve around it. Our specific solar system contains the inner planets, the outer
planets, and other celestial bodies like moons, comets, and asteroids. All of these things revolve
around the sun in repeating cycles and add to the to beauty of the place in which we live, Earth
which is the only life sustaining inner planet.
The Inner Planets are the planets that are closest to the sun. These planets include Mercury, Venus,
Earth, and Mars, which are made of solid, dense rock. Even though these planets are composed of
similar materials, they all have unique characteristics that set them apart from other planets.
Mercury is the first planet in the solar system. It was named after the Roman messenger god
because it has the fastest orbit around the sun. Mercury is also the smallest planet in our solar
system with a diameter of only 3,031 miles. Because Mercury is so small, its gravitational pull is
very weak. Mercury s atmosphere is so small that it can be compared to artificial vacuums of
earth. Because the atmosphere is so thin, its temperature differs greatly between day and night. The
average temperature on Mars during the day is 800В°F and at night it is 350В°F. The temperature
difference is really what sets it apart from other planets (Watters 53 55).
Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system with a temperature of 900В°F. It seems

Ethical Issues In The Free State Of Jones
The Free State of Jones is based on the true story of Newton Knight who was a nurse for the

then Knight coming through and pulling out some of the wounded and taking them to a field

states that if a man owns 20 or more slaves he is dismissed from duty to return and run his

approaches. (Siev et al. 1986), for
example four perceptual treatment Approaches for adults:
A) Sensory integration
B) Transfer of training
C) Functional training and
D) Neurodevelopmental.
Three of these approaches sensory integration, transfer of training,
and neurodevelopmental can be classified as remedial because their
underlying assumptions match the remedial assumption outlined
previously such as the retraining sequences.
In the sensory integration and neurodevelopmental approaches,
the therapist provides controlled vestibular, tactile, proprioceptive, and
kenesthetic stimulation to promote normal central nervous system
processing of sensory information. Theoretically, because perceptual
motor behaviors are performed in response to the nervous systems
interpretation of sensory inputs, normal sensory processing should help

All American Boys Research Paper
Would you rather read fiction or nonfiction books? In some countries they are starting to take
fiction books out of schools. The book I am reading is All American boys by Jason Reynolds and
Brendan Kiley. This book is about a young teenage African American boy getting physically
assaulted by a white police officer. All American boys is a fiction book, however it has many life
lesson and real life events that we may not always be aware of. Despite the school board s recent
segment regarding the lack of fuel that fiction provides, fiction should remain in the school s
curriculum. I make this statement due to the fact that fiction books teach people life lessons.
Secondly, some people dislike reading books that aren t fiction because people do not get the
opportunity to use their imagination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
School districts feel they need to take out fiction books because they feel the non fictions books
have more benefits than fiction books. Some believe that non fiction book are more accurate than
fiction books because they focus on real life events. They think that if they take out fiction books
everyone will read non fiction books and people will understand and learn what life is really like.
I have found an article, and in this article it talks about how a school district took out some fiction
books from the school. The students were affected because if they start taking fiction books now,
then what will the students generations from now read? Now it s not only affecting us, it s
affecting other generations after us.I think we should have a say in what we read and what we
don t. If school districts make us read only non fiction books ,then most of the students in the
schools won t be as interested to read because the books may not be ast interesting. Schools districts
across America are removing a fundamental part of educational

Comparison Of Count Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula And...
Dracula is the infamous vampire, that readers were п¬Ѓrst introduced to by Irish author Bram
Stoker in 1897 when they read his novel Dracula (Stoker). The author conveys the story of Count
Dracula, a mysterious being that is half man, half vampire that sucks blood from the neck of his
victims to stay alive (Stoker). This novel is an outstanding masterpiece of work, which is why it
has been a prototype for various movie releases over the decades, such as Nosferatu, Horror of
Dracula, Dracula A Love Story, and Bram Stokers Dracula ( Dracula (Universal Classics) ). The
hope is when a movie is based on a novel that the characters coincide from one to the other, which

He cannot come into a house unless invited or walk in water and his favorite meal is human
blood (Stoker). While these traits are consistent in both the novel and the movie there are
differences (Stoker). Starting with the novel, it describes Count Dracula s shadow coordinates
with his body, yet in the movie, his shadow works separately from his body movements (
Dracula (Universal Classics) ). The next modification of Count Dracula s character in the novel
is, he cannot be in or near the sunlight or it will kill him, however, in the movie, he meets Mina
in the daytime and it does not harm him (Bram Stoker s). Then, in the novel, Dracula is a purely
evil, terrifying blood hungry monster that wreaks havoc on anyone he meets and feels the need
to take life or end life with his arch nemesis being with anyone who wants to preserve life
(Stoker). But in the movie when he meets Mina on the streets of London, he pursues a courtship
with her and he begins to develop feelings for Mina (Bram Stoker s). When he proclaims his love
for her and refuses to condemn her to the life of a vampire, he is no longer a vile, evil monster
(Bram Stoker s). These modifications to Count Dracula s character in the movie make the
audience see him as a vulnerable, loving man with feelings for a woman who reminds him of his

I really enjoyed how the author uses Romanian mythology to create this complex world in the
series. The book moved at a fast pace and kept me interested until the very end. The only part of
the book that I wished the author made would be to add more action because a lot people who
read this book think it s just about vampires in high school, but the second book features so
much action. Overall I would recommend reading this book because it is the first book that
introduces the characters and story plot in the six book series. I will read the next six books in
the series because I really enjoy the storyline. I hope the action will pick up in the next books and
I am excited to learn more about characters throughout the series. I think the book will be easy to
relate to teenagers around the age of the main characters who are facing danger at every turn, but

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Ebola

they were highly contagious, there was a high chance that they could die, and there is nothing at

would you sit around and do nothing? Today you will hear an explanation of what causes Ebola,
what it does, and how you can prevent it.
What causes Ebola? How was it discovered? Ebola is caused by wild animal bites. Not from the
U.S. of course but like monkey bites or even Fruit bats. It is also known as Ebola hemorrhagic
fever. It is highly contagious and fatal if not treated. It was first discovered in 1976 in 2

Evolution And Catastrophes
Patterns of Vertebrate Evolution and Catastrophes
Catastrophic events, such as mass extinctions, floods, earthquakes, disease, and more recently war,
are all events that have shaped vertebrate evolution through time. In prehistoric times, mass
extinctions have been caused by asteroid and meteor impacts, which can cause serious
environmental damage by ejecting dust and debris (Carpenter and Bishop, 2009). The stress from
the impact could trigger additional earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, and would further eradicate
living species from the globe following the direct impact of an asteroid or meteor (Carpenter and
Bishop, 2009). With recent research in the Deccan plateau of India following the KPg extinction,
the role of volcanism in mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The phenology of vertebrates was greatly altered by the mass extinctions and catastrophes that
have occurred in history and still have an effect on vertebrates today. The main hypothesis for the
global climate change following mass extinctions, particularly the Cretaceous Paleogene (KPg), is
black carbon spread throughout the globe and altered solar radiation to create a system of global
cooling (Kaiho et al., 2016). The cooling of the Earth s temperature created a sudden drop in
precipitation and a 50 60% decrease in sunlight following the impact of the asteroid (Kaiho et al.,
2016). Research shows that following the impact of the KPg extinction precipitation has
substantially decreased and depends on the latitude (Kaiho 2016). The Late Ordovician mass
extinction was the first of the Big Five and can be clearly connected with climate change (Finnegan
et al., 2012). The Late Ordovician mass extinction can be explained by the climactic common cause
hypothesis, which states that climate cooling has a direct influence on extinction rates by forcing
tropical taxa to live in climates that did not match their niche (Finnegan et al., 2012). In a research
study done on the effects of climate change in the Late Ordovician, patterns of thermal tolerance
range indicators show cooling and habitat loss as an important driver

Gandhi s American Dream
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. Quotes like
this come from the one and only, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, or what he s commonly known
as Mahatma Gandhi. He peacefully brought people together to boycott against British rule, and
rebelled against what he believed was wrong. Before all of his, Gandhi was born on October 2nd
1869, in Porbandar, Kathiawar, India which was at the time apart of the British empire. He had
what seemed to be a short childhood, marrying at thirteen years old in an arranged marriage with
Kasturba Makanji. This soon caused his early rebel teen years which was, smoking, eating meat,
and stealing change from household servants. (Biography.com Editors 1). He had little interest in
school, but kept average grades due to his father s expectations in his academics. He went on to
study western culture in London, England for three years and struggled through his studies. While
staying there he started reading a variety of sacred texts about different religions, learning about
the different cultures and beliefs of the world. Although he had a hard and difficult early life, he
still came through to only break through bigger barriers in his future. Gandhi stood up for what he

Statement Of IKEA Management Trainee Program

My mentor, Erik Thun, a co worker at IKEA, made me aware of the IKEA Management Trainee
Program. Based on our discussions within the mentoring program he believes my background and

Master degree in business process and supply chain management in June I believe IKEA s

One of the most important skills I improved during my master studies at Linnaeus University is to
work together in international teams. Being able to adapt to different culture has proven to be very
important and developed me in many ways. Within various student projects that were carried out in
a group, I have been able to use my leadership skills to increase the group s success.

I can be standing in a room full of people screaming at the top of my lungs and yet nobody seems

Sadly, that s how I felt. I m a happy person, I genuinely love being positive. However, for some odd

In those moments not only was I looking for happiness .... I was looking for REAL happiness
because I wanted my positive attitude back.

the Battle of Jericho. Thanks to his devotion and obedience towards God, he won the battle and
claimed the Promised Land. Joshua did great things for the glory of God, so he should always be
remembered as the hero he was. Joshua was born in Egypt prior to Exodus, in the year 1355 BC.
Joshua was very similar to Mosesthroughout his life. When he was born, he was hidden to hide

Kenneth Dodge s Theory Of Juvenile Delinquency
Deviance among adolescents in our society has many different causes and multiple theories
throughout the history of criminal justice have been developed to attempt to explain, prevent and
reduce incidents of status offenses and juvenile delinquency. There are theories varying from
individual, to social and environmental. All of these theories have their merits and contribute in
one way or another to the advancement of the understanding of juvenile delinquencyand the
treatment and prevention of delinquency within our society. Those that have proven to be
successful we have applied in our justice system while those that are proven over time to be
ineffective or defective we have discarded. There is no single theory that applies to all delinquent
behavior in all situations. It is best to determine what theory may work best in each specific case
based on the individual and the specific situation. Dodge s information processingtheory of social
problem solving (Crick and Dodge 1994) was developed by Kenneth Dodge in an attempt to explain
the interaction between the child s cognitive development and their social environment. This theory
combines elements of both the individual and the social environment and examines how these two
variables interact with each other to present a model for juvenile delinquency. During my
investigation of this topic I discovered that an adapted model of Dodge s theory existed that
seemed to be more encompassing of the causes of juvenile delinquency,

Poseidon and Zeus were enjoying the delicious smell of turkey and all the deliciousness of foods
all over the world on Mount Olympus with many other gods and goddesses. They were all having

god of the underworld was planning something.
Hades says, I wonder what would happen if I go to the living world again. With a big jump,
Hades jumped up really high and tried to make it to the living world. Many villagers went to Mount
Olympus to tell Zeus and Poseidon that their evil brother is trying to escape the underworld. Zeus
and Poseidon never had a good past with Hades. They always argued with him. Zeus and Poseidon
didn t want the villagers to be scared so they went to the village. When they arrived, they felt the
whole village shaking.
Zeus and Poseidon went to the underworld to stop Hades from leaving that wretched place. Zeus

The Senate Bill 1365, By Albert Hale Former Navajo Nation...
Chapter four A Creation Story introduces the Senate Bill 1365 now revised into two laws ARS
15 341 and ARS 15 710, Albert Hale former Navajo Nation president and Arizona State Senator
introduced Bill 1365 in 2004. His intentions behind SB 1365 was to eradicate the so called
mutual respect between dominant society and Native Americans specifically Dine people. In
order for respect to be reciprocal dominant society needs to know who we are as Dine people as
well as our history, government, culture and sovereignty. As the bill is transitioning through the
process of being approved there were issues the AZ state board did not agree with. They only
approved the history to be taught because they keep control of what they want society to know
about us. Just like sovereignty as Native Nation we are semi sovereign meaning we do not have
all the requirements of a sovereign nation. But the two main powers we exercise is self
government, and taxing revenue through gaming. Native American has been a huge part of who

Ammon Ford s Poem
Does poetry really stand a chance if you just read between the lines and not dig deeper to find
the full meaning of the poem? In Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy
Evening, he strives to read between the lines however, he is set back by his lack of motivation to
further develop his full ideas of the poem itself. Frost s poem has two main symbols in which they
represent society and being on the outside of today s society this is proven by the ideas given in
the poem. In the article Ford summarizes the main ideas in Robert Frosts poem Stopping by the
Woods on a Snowy Evening. Ford explains how there are many meanings to the poem.
Throughout this poem, Ford is giving his opinions on what he thinks about Frost s poem. Also,
he explains how there could be many more meanings beneath the surface symbols that Frost
presents. Ford proves his ideas and shows what he thinks about the symbols in the poem. In the
article Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, Ford realizes that
there is a deeper meaning to the poem. Understanding this, Ford realizes that the deeper meaning
to the poem could mean so much more. This is enjoyable because the deeper meanings in the
poem is what Ford is trying to interpert. Ford does a good job of explaining his deeper meanings
when saying, The horse could be symbolic of some wordy resemblance or one of the promises.
Ford is further developing this symbolinto another meaning. It is awesome how Ford does not
just see on the surface level and digs deeper to find the true meaning. However, on a deeper level
Ford presents ideas in his article that could mean something totally different. Although, Ford digs
deeper to further the meaning of symbolism, he also stays just right under the surface level.
Despite him digging a little deeper Ford fails to explain the real meanings of the symbols. On the
other hand Ford even says how , I personally would rather read the lines than read between them.
When Ford states this is shows that he really did not fully interpret the true meaning of the symbols
in Frost s poem. This shows that Ford would have rather just read the poem than actually digging
for the true meaning. As a result, Ford s explanations

This was Keats s goal as a romantic writer: to connect with the reader, to portray his ideas in the

language, such as repetition, imagery, and personification, Keats accomplishes his goal. The
reason that Keats is so successful in painting a clear picture is because he uses his imagination to

These are but a few of the fantastical tales that helped mesmerize readers of the late Middle Ages.
However, Mandeville was not concerned with whether his tales were believable or not. His
purpose, more so than a guide to travel for your average citizen, was to show people that there were
others in this world with thoughts and ideas and maybe those thoughts and ideas deserved some
merit.
Throughout his book, Mandeville is very specific about morals and values, especially Christian
morals and values. In Chapter 32, he tells of the Isle of Bragman and the people who live there
who are not Christians. He says In this land are no thieves, no murderers, no prostitutes, no liars,
no beggars; they are men as pure in conversation and as clean living as if they were men of
religion . (p. 178) Mandeville believed that God loved them because they were good people,
despite the fact that they were not Christians. He tells us of Christian men: Jacobites, Saracens,
Surrianes, Arians, Nubians, Indians and Georgienes who have different laws and customs, but all
believe in God although their rites and beliefs may be different than your own. Mandeville was
calling on Christians to reform and wake up! Judge not!

He briefly talks about how several characters die later in time. Doc Gibbs died in 1930. The new

daughter, Rebecca, who married an insurance man in Canton, Ohio, and died there pneumonia
but her body was brought back here. She s up in the cemetery there now in Hersey fore she

manager does this to emphasize the fact that life is very short, and time can pass by in a blink of

Mrs. Webb about selling a piece of furniture for $355, and using the money to go away on a trip.
Later in act 3, she had died already, and never ended up going on that trip. She even forgets about

emotion in his struggles to maintain courage. The narrative simply revealed war in a manner that
was divergent to all prior forms of literature in the 19th century. Previous novels predominately
entailed the glorious and romantic aspects of war rather than the tedious, gritty, and gruesome
details of close combat. Instead, Crane broke the barriers of literary norms in war related
literature; the novel depicted a pragmatic experience of combat from the eyes of an inexperienced
and frightened youth. In the Red Badge of Courage, Stephan Crane primarily uses religious and
gory imagery as well as symbolism to contrast the romantic conceptions of war versus the reality of
experiencing battle.
One of the primary methods used to illustrate realism throughout The Red Badge of Courage would
be imagery. The entire book is essentially an outpouring of impressions and

Professional Presence and Influence
Professional Presence and Influence YOT Task 1 Hellen C. Adebowale Models of Health and
Healing Two of the three models of health and healing discussed by Dossey (1999) were Era II
Body/Mind Model of the 1950s and Era III Body/Mind/Spirit Model of the 1990s. According to
Dossey (1999), post World War II the Medical Doctors noticed that there was proof that the
functioning of the human body can be affected by other factors such as stress and emotions which,
can lead to diseases such as ulcers and high blood pressure. This model brought to light the
realization that treating the human body is complex because when the physical body is not well the

I spoke with the family and arranged for him to have video call his son so that he can see and talk

because despite the fact that my role as an acute care leader involves some administrative functions,
it also involves directing the functioning of the staff, activities and services, care and labor of the
department. This includes Implementing standards of practice, interpreting system and department
policies and procedures and ensuring quality patient care and compliance with regulatory and legal
requirements. The biggest distractions as an acute care leader that impacts my work are numerous
administrative meetings; they tend to take up most of my daily schedule leaving me with little time
to talk to the patients. To alleviate this challenge I have allocated time on my daily calendar to
participate in bedside inter disciplinary and leader rounding on the unit with the team to discuss
patient plan of care with other healthcare teams, patient and family. This time allocation enables me
to have designated time dedicated to making sure the patient receives my professional presence that

Creation vs Evolution Essay
There are two different beliefs of how everything came to be. One is creation. Creationalists believe
in what the Bible says which is that God created everything. Another is evolution. Evolutionalists
believe that there was a quot;big bang quot; which brought forth everything. In this paper, I m going
to give the arguments that prove evolution wrong.
One of the main things that evolutionalists have a problem with is time. They say that the world
has existed for millions and billions of years. There is a couple problems with this though. The sun
shrinks so much every day because it is burning up all its fuels. Scientists can calculate how big the
sun was at any point in history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they go back in time millions of years, the magnetic field would be too strong for anything to live
on earth, therefore this being another reason why the earth is not that old.
Evolutionists believe that humans and all other things evolved by mutation. Scientists can force
mutations with radiation. Every mutation that has been made has never been good. Mutations only
hurt the organism, not help it.
A main part in evolution is the dating of fossils. This makes a type of circular reasoning though
because of the archeologists and paleontologists. The archeologist dates the layers of the earth by
the fossils that were found in it and the paleontologist dates the fossils by the layer of the earth it
was found in.
Another problem comes up when you talk about fossils. If the world is millions and billions of
years old, there would be fossils at lots of different archeological levels. Archeologists have found
that most fossils are found at the same level, which would mean that some huge natural disaster
happened and killed millions of animals at one time. The Bible mentions of a great flood that wiped
out millions of animals and humans. This again proves evolution wrong.
A way to date old artifacts and bodies is by using the C 14

Gresham Vs Peterson Case Study
In Gresham v. Peterson, the City of Indianapolis amended an ordinance regarding solicitation in
public places. Gresham v. Peterson, 225 F.3d 899, 901 (7th Cir. 2000). The ordinance prohibited
any solicitation made in person upon any street, public place or park in the city, in which a person
requests an immediate donation of money or other gratuity . . . . Id. It included seeking donations
by vocal appealor for . . . street performance . . . and where the person being solicited receives an
item of little or no monetary value in exchange for a donation . . . where a reasonable person would
understand that the transaction is in substance a donation. Id. However, panhandling did not
include the act of passively standing or sitting nor performing music, singing or other street
performance with a sign or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Public streets provide not only the transportation, but the vitality, attraction, and interaction in a
city. A willingness to walk on and use the streets is essential to businesses, and to the life and
economic success of a city. Robert Teir, Maintaining Safety and Civility in Public Spaces: A
Constitutional Approach to Aggressive Begging, 54 La. L. Rev. 285, 288 (1993). However, these
social catalysts only exist if public spaces are viewed as desirable and attractive. Id. at 289.
Unfortunately, when parks or sidewalks are a place of frequent intimidation and intrusion, they
become a place not to be sought out, but rather to be avoided. Citizens and visitors begin to think
twice about taking their children to the park or square, or taking a walk to the lake, the coffee shop,
or the corner store, due to the unwillingness to want to face solicitors because of the frequent
intimidation, intrusion, and oftentimes violent and coercive nature of panhandling. Because
panhandling threatens the community, as well as personal security, it must be regulated in order to
maintain attractive and secure public spaces. Id. at

The Population Profile Of Australia
The population profile of Australia has created impacting changes to how health care in Australia
is to be delivered in the near future (Charlesworth, 2015). High rates of obesity, diabetes, heart
diseases and poor life style choices such as smoking, alcohol and substance abuse, add to an
existing crisis that imposes more pressure on an overworked healthcare system (Willcox, 2014).
Future challenges for health industry leaders are to develop strategies, for delivery of inclusive and
accessible health care (Council Of Australian Governments, 2016). Currently under review are the
impacts of the changing population profile in Australia such as, an aging population, chronic
diseases, remote communities, an aging workforce, and variations of ... Show more content on

Clients with complex needs could be left to navigate the health care system on their own, due to
limited resources and over stretched health workforce (Charlesworth, 2015). The World Health
Organisation (WHO) has reported that many chronic diseases such as stroke, diabetes and heart
disease are preventable, creating a vast potential to develop a primary healthcare approach to
address these issues (World Health Organisation, 2013). Studies indicate that Australian indigenous
populations are over represented suffering with chronic diseases (Usher, 2011). In rural Indigenous
communities, the life expectancy is ten years less than the non indigenous populations, expressing
the inequity of a health system that cannot supply the skill share needed to promote health access
or provide comprehensive care to rural areas of Australia (Australian Institute of Health and
Welfare, 2016).
Indigenous and Age related, Chronic and acute health issues within the rural communities are
intensified, and as workforce demand is not supported adequately on remote placements, the
training needed to support such placements, pinpoint that the personnel to population ratio is not
sufficient. (Lin, 2009). Distances in the Australian health care system are vast and wide, usage of
digital health (Australian Government Department of Health, 2016), has the ability to optimize
health and technology with communities and individuals.

Analysis Of Amy Tan s A Pair Of Tickets
All individuals have values, beliefs, and attitudes that develop throughout the course of life.
Families, friends, and the community in addition to experiences all have significant contributions to
how people view and sense the world. Ethnicity refers to the characteristics of a particular group of
people including skin, hair, and eye color. On the other hand, culturerefers to shared patterns of
behavior, cognitive constructs, and interactions an individual in a particular society learns through
socialization at a particular time. It includes religion, language, social habits, arts, and music. Since
culture and ethnicity comprise of the most personal attributes of an individual, they affect one s
decision making, actions, and values.
Culture and ethnicity has a very profound effect in shaping the way individuals view the world.
Many studies have proven that individuals from different cultures will view and perceive things
differently, probably because of how their individual cultures shaped their view of the world. Amy
Tan s A Pair of Tickets provides a brief narrative concerning the reminiscence and conscience of Jing
mei, a Chinese American woman on a trip to meet her half sisters for the first time. The young
woman is fully Americanized while the mother is a Chinese immigrant, trying to communicate
Chinese stories to her daughter, who is completely ignorant of their Chinese heritage. While in
America, Jing mei states that her Chinese identify is only skin deep,

Hellenistic Culture Essay
Hellenistic Culture The time between the death of Alexander the Great and the rise of Roman
civilization is defined as the Hellenistic period. After the great expansion of Greece, the empire was
split into smaller kingdoms. Many battles were fought before establishing the kingdoms. However,
they lasted fairly long until they were conquered by the Romans. Hellenistic culture emphasized the
importance of the individual. This brought on the growth of art, literature, and philosophers. Along
with this, libraries were also formed. Greece began to have a more centralized power. Rather than
having segregated, democratic city states or Alexander s empire, they developed different types of
kingdoms. Agriculture also experienced major improvements,

The circumstances surrounding a child custody battle can be stressful, costly, and emotionally
draining. By choosing the right lawyer to represent your case, you can avoid a large sum of
added stress, while potentially making the difference between a full custody win, or every other
weekend visitation. In this article, we will provide a few tips to help you in choosing your ideal
child custody attorney.
Step 1 Begin by skimming through the attorney section of your area yellow pages. This is the first
step in finding someone to represent you in court. Start a list of attorneys in your area complete

cases. Those who advertise bankruptcy and DUI cases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contact each of them to schedule appointments. In most cases, you will be able to obtain an initial
consultation free of charge.
Step 5 Sit down and write out a list of questions to pose to each candidate during your initial
meeting. Be prepared to discuss you re the circumstances of your case in detail, and remember to
include discussions pertaining to custody, visitation, support, insurance coverage, trust funds, and
tax filings.
Step 6 Bring a pad and paper to each consultation and take notes. Pay attention to how the lawyer
interacts with you, and whether they appear friendly, professional, and interested in the specifics of
the case. Be sure you re dealing with someone who makes you feel confident in your case.
Additionally, you will want to discuss payment options, and fees up front.
Step 7 Once you ve finished your set of meetings, sit down and compare the notes from each
candidate. Decide which aspects are important to you, and go with the attorney who offers the
ones that will benefit your situation. Avoid making a decision based solely on cost alone, as this
may result in an attorney who is not quite as experienced or skilled as someone who charges a little

San Francisco, California And Powell Streets
Nob Hill is located at the intersection of California and Powell streets, and has the reputation for
being an elite neighborhood in the city of San Francisco, California. This hilltop landmark
continues to attract visitors and today real estate buyers interested in San Francisco apartments for
sale are looking at these posh streets lined with history. Its charism from the past eras has enhanced
the luminary personality of this neighborhood.
Today, San Francisco apartments for sale in this influential neighborhood have an average listing
price of $759,000 compared to other areas of San Francisco of similar listing prices for
$750,000. The variances for square foot costs are computed as a result of the apartment s size and
its location in the neighborhood. Top of the hill tends to be higher with declining costs toward the
mid section and escalating again as you reach the lower level location on the city streets.
Here s an example, based on the current listings the average square foot apartment cost on Nob
Hill today. The differences are a direct result of the number of listings and final closing price for
the area.
450 square foot $1083
598 square foot $897
791 square foot $676
The differences in pricing for San Francisco apartments for sale, compared to homes in the area are
the amenities built into the real estate determining its market value and the benefits of the location.

  • 2. Squaw Valley Resort Case Study While listening to the interview of Andy Wirth with Madeline Brand with KCRW, I came to know about the declining weather and its effects on skiing business. When Madeline asked Wirth about the skiing business of Squaw Valley last winter, he mentioned that the slight decline of 20 percent in his resort business. Due to the massive changes in the weather patterns in last season, snowfall and precipitation pattern were drastically affected. As a result, Squaw Valley received less snow fall and comparatively less visitors last winter. Because the Squaw Valley Resort is known for offering an array of recreational opportunities for skiers and snowboarders alike, decrease in snowfall certainly affects the business of this ski resort in Lake Tahoe. Madeline comes up with the question based on a situation where avid skiers finding just a few inches of snow in a peak skiing month like February. Andy replied to this question with a clear statistical report. Based on the weather and snow reports of last year s December and January, it seems that Squaw Valley received good inches of snow. Jonathan Swift s Gulliver in the Land of the Houyhnhnms In the last voyage in Jonathan Swift s book Gulliver s Travels, A voyage to the country of the Houyhnhnms, Swift describes his idea of an ideal society. There are many examples provided in this part of the book to convince the reader that Swift is indeed illustrating his idea of a utopia. By using horses as the most reasonable creature, Swift not only defaces human society by making a beast a more powerful creature, but also shows that humans are unable to attain this perfectly reasonable society. Gulliver tries to justify the causes of war and attempts to explain this idea to the Houyhnhnms, who can not grasp the concept of why such a thing would ever be necessary. The Houyhnhnms do not even have a word to describe such evil, as it is not something that exists in their world. The Master listens to all of Gulliver s stories and decides that humans are not unlike the Yahoo s after all. The Yahoo s are characterized by their greed and selfishness throughout the book, and humans are viewed to be of the same nature. Swift thinks that the Houyhnhnm society is the ideal society; for this revealed by the way that he shows Gulliver wanting to become just like them. Swift does not like the European culture which is very different from that of the Houyhnhnms. The second generation of the novel offers many parallels, albeit less wild and powerful ones, with the first generation: the second Cathy is a milder, gentler version of her mother and Hareton has a definite likeness to Heathcliff (their degradation, appearance etc. however their difference lies in Hareton s pivotal capacity for forgiveness); Linton, however, is presented as an even more insufferable, pathetic version of Edgar Linton: he might have been taken for [Edgar s] younger brother, so strong was the resemblance . • 11. The Violence Of A Multi Ethnic Society Samuel Huntington famously stated that the fiercest clashes have become battles between civilizations, according to him these clashes are neither ideological or economic, but rather cultural. Huntington couldn t have been more mistaken. In reality, the modern world has become plagued with an increasing presence of intra state wars as modern conflict has become synonymous with clashes between individuals, groups, and communities that differ very little . Freud attempted to explain this perplexing occurrence as a narcissism of minor differences by stating that group solidarity requires the existence of an Other , a minority, which through its suppression validates the identity of the majority. According to this logic, all communities despite their homogeneity must seek a minority within themselves in order to validate their existence. Bosnia s cosmopolitanism prior to the Yugoslavian War provides us with a vivid example that this narcissism is a superficial explanation as to why fraternal conflict occurs. Prior to the war, Bosnia was not only the most ethnically integrated Yugoslavian republic, it was the poster child of a multi ethnic society in which various ethnicities not only coexisted but rather intermingled. This peaceful coexistence was disrupted by Slobodan Milosevic, Serbias president, who used Yugoslavias economic and political crisis of 1988 in his favour by essentializing the crisis along the lines of ethnic national identity. Sula represents the rights women should have to do as they please without being wild as some women take being a feminist as today. Feminism in retrospect is about having the same rights as men. But, that does not make the wrong things that men do ok for a woman to do as well. Whether done by a man or a woman, some behavior is still not appropriate. Feminism used to be about equal rights for jobs and voting and important matters. Now, women use feminism and equal rights to perform behavior that is not ideal behavior for anyone with good morals. All of these things revolve around the sun in repeating cycles and add to the to beauty of the place in which we live, Earth which is the only life sustaining inner planet. The Inner Planets are the planets that are closest to the sun. These planets include Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, which are made of solid, dense rock. Even though these planets are composed of similar materials, they all have unique characteristics that set them apart from other planets. Mercury is the first planet in the solar system. It was named after the Roman messenger god because it has the fastest orbit around the sun. Mercury is also the smallest planet in our solar system with a diameter of only 3,031 miles. Because Mercury is so small, its gravitational pull is very weak. Mercury s atmosphere is so small that it can be compared to artificial vacuums of earth. Because the atmosphere is so thin, its temperature differs greatly between day and night. The average temperature on Mars during the day is 800В°F and at night it is 350В°F. • 27. Evolution And Catastrophes Patterns of Vertebrate Evolution and Catastrophes Catastrophic events, such as mass extinctions, floods, earthquakes, disease, and more recently war, are all events that have shaped vertebrate evolution through time. In prehistoric times, mass extinctions have been caused by asteroid and meteor impacts, which can cause serious environmental damage by ejecting dust and debris (Carpenter and Bishop, 2009). The stress from the impact could trigger additional earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, and would further eradicate living species from the globe following the direct impact of an asteroid or meteor (Carpenter and Bishop, 2009). The phenology of vertebrates was greatly altered by the mass extinctions and catastrophes that have occurred in history and still have an effect on vertebrates today. The main hypothesis for the global climate change following mass extinctions, particularly the Cretaceous Paleogene (KPg), is black carbon spread throughout the globe and altered solar radiation to create a system of global cooling (Kaiho et al., 2016). The cooling of the Earth s temperature created a sudden drop in precipitation and a 50 60% decrease in sunlight following the impact of the asteroid (Kaiho et al., 2016). Research shows that following the impact of the KPg extinction precipitation has substantially decreased and depends on the latitude (Kaiho 2016). The Late Ordovician mass extinction was the first of the Big Five and can be clearly connected with climate change (Finnegan et al., 2012). The Late Ordovician mass extinction can be explained by the climactic common cause hypothesis, which states that climate cooling has a direct influence on extinction rates by forcing tropical taxa to live in climates that did not match their niche (Finnegan et al., 2012). In a research study done on the effects of climate change in the Late Ordovician, patterns of thermal tolerance range indicators show cooling and habitat loss as an important driver ... There are theories varying from individual, to social and environmental. All of these theories have their merits and contribute in one way or another to the advancement of the understanding of juvenile delinquencyand the treatment and prevention of delinquency within our society. Those that have proven to be successful we have applied in our justice system while those that are proven over time to be ineffective or defective we have discarded. There is no single theory that applies to all delinquent behavior in all situations. It is best to determine what theory may work best in each specific case based on the individual and the specific situation. Dodge s information processingtheory of social problem solving (Crick and Dodge 1994) was developed by Kenneth Dodge in an attempt to explain the interaction between the child s cognitive development and their social environment. This theory combines elements of both the individual and the social environment and examines how these two variables interact with each other to present a model for juvenile delinquency. Frost s poem has two main symbols in which they represent society and being on the outside of today s society this is proven by the ideas given in the poem. Throughout this poem, Ford is giving his opinions on what he thinks about Frost s poem. Also, he explains how there could be many more meanings beneath the surface symbols that Frost presents. Ford proves his ideas and shows what he thinks about the symbols in the poem. In the article Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, Ford realizes that there is a deeper meaning to the poem. Understanding this, Ford realizes that the deeper meaning to the poem could mean so much more. This is enjoyable because the deeper meanings in the poem is what Ford is trying to interpert. Ford does a good job of explaining his deeper meanings when saying, The horse could be symbolic of some wordy resemblance or one of the promises. Ford is further developing this symbolinto another meaning. It is awesome how Ford does not just see on the surface level and digs deeper to find the true meaning. However, on a deeper level Ford presents ideas in his article that could mean something totally different. Although, Ford digs deeper to further the meaning of symbolism, he also stays just right under the surface level. Despite him digging a little deeper Ford fails to explain the real meanings of the symbols. On the other hand Ford even says how , I personally would rather read the lines than read between them. Realism and Romanticism within The Red Badge of Courage Realism and Romanticism Within The Red Badge of Courage The Red Badge of Courage, written by Stephan Crane in 1895 gives a detailed, yet, fictional account of Henry Fleming, a farm boy who joins the Union Army in the American Civil War. Before Henry is battle tested, he ponders his courage and questions whether he will be able to fight the urge to flee from battle. Henry does indeed end up deserting his comrades however he ultimately overcomes his guilt and becomes one of the best fighters in his regiment. In order to depict a realistic and relatable war scene, Crane includes Henry s realistic thought process and emotion in his struggles to maintain courage. The narrative simply revealed war in a manner that was divergent to all prior forms of literature in the 19th century. Previous novels predominately entailed the glorious and romantic aspects of war rather than the tedious, gritty, and gruesome details of close combat. Instead, Crane broke the barriers of literary norms in war related literature; the novel depicted a pragmatic experience of combat from the eyes of an inexperienced and frightened youth. In the Red Badge of Courage, Stephan Crane primarily uses religious and gory imagery as well as symbolism to contrast the romantic conceptions of war versus the reality of experiencing battle.
