During this lesson, learners will be able to…
 Identify and name different shapes.
 Incorporate their previous knowledge of colors.
 Develop their listening skills by listening to video songs.
 Teaching points: - language focus:
 Teaching approach: This lesson plan is based on the PPP approach.
 Materials and resources: Two videos to watch on the teacher´s personal
computer. Two copies of the fish picture, one for each of them. One big picture
for activity 1. One big paper sheet with pictures presented in Presentation Stage.
 Pedagogical use of ICT in class: In this lesson, two videos will be used
to support the presentation and exposure of the students to the teaching point.
Activities organised through the combination of audio and video (audiovisual
material) enhance language learning and acquisition.
 Seating arrangement: Students will be sitting in a desk since they are
only two, in this way they will have visual contact and interaction.
 Cooperative work: learners of this age are in the parallel play stage,
which means they can play together
 Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during
the class: Children may get too excited during the whole class, since they are in

a rural school and unfortunately they are not used to watching videos. In that
case, I’ll remind them we should be careful with the resources used and be able
to perform all the activities. In order to they get quiet: I´ll say Silence, please!
 Potential problems students may have with the language: They may
not understand the question: What shape is it? I’ll guide them by pointing the
different pictures and modeling the answer first.
WARM UP (10 minutes)
Purpose: to introduce the topic and evaluate students´ understanding.
First, we will watch a shape´s video, the link is below

- OK boys, we will watch a video. Look here please.
After watching the video, I will ask students:
- Have you seen a circle? Yes? Where? (In order to they understand what a circle
is I will put the video again, stop it and pointing the different shapes when I
asked)
- Have you seen a star? Yes, very good, it is on the video.
I will ask them about every shape in order to listen to the vocabulary.
PRESENTATION (10 minutes)
Purpose: to further expose the learners to the target language, to foster
comprehension.
Then, I will show students the following images on the desk (they are only 2
students):
After showing the pictures, I will ask them if they know the shapes shown on the
images.
- Now look the images, what shape is it? I will point out to the wheel, for
example, at the moment of asking.
Is it a circle? Yes, it s a circle, very good.
- And what shape is it? I will point out different images.
Very good! We have a circle, a square, a triangle, a rectangle, a star, an oval, a
diamond and a heart. I will point out each of the shapes.
DEVELOPMENT (20 minutes)
Activity 1 (10 minutes)
Purpose: to identify the topic vocabulary.
Students will look for shapes on a picture. The picture is shown below.
They will look for circles, triangles, a heart, rectangles, squares, ovals and a
diamond, there isn´t a star on the picture.
- Look here boys, we will look for some shapes OK?. Where is a circle? Can you
see it? Good Uciel, a cherry is a circle.
- Ernesto can you see a triangle?
- Excellent, can you see a rectangle?
I will guide them on the search of the shapes mentioned above.
Activity 2 (10 minutes)
Purpose: to identify and practise the topic vocabulary and also the colors (They
learned the colors mentioned below in previous classes)
Students will colour the shapes situated in the following fish picture. I will tell
them what shape they have to paint to a determined color.
- Ok boys, now we will colour. Look here, it is a fish with shapes. You have
tocolour what I say, OK?
- We will start;colour two circles of color blue. Yes Uciel, that color is blue, only
two circles.
They will be asked tocolour as it´s shown below

They will watch from the beginning to 1.43 minute only because in the same video
there are other songs (I downloaded the video and cut it)
- Listen boys, let´s watch other video!
They will watch the video once and then a second time where I will invite them to sing
the song, trying to they name the shapes.
- OK boys, time´s over. We will see the next class.
