Cetacean: Cetaceans are a widely distributed aquatic mammals
that consists of whales, dolphins.
The order of cetacean is divided into 2 sub-orders:
1.Baleen whales:14 species.
2.Toothed whales;73 species.

Carnivorous.
Warm blooded.
Have mammary gland.
Forelimbs , modified into stabilizing
flippers.
Counter current circulatory system.

Differences Between-
Baleen Whales: Toothed Whales:
1.Includes all varieties of
whales and dolphins.
1. Includes all species of
dolphins and porpoises
2.Larger than toothed
whales
2.Generally smaller than
baleen whale.
3.Have two blowholes on
top of their head.
3.Have one blowholes on
top of their head.
4.Female larger than
males.
4.Male larger than female.
5.Example:Blue whale. 6.Common dolphin.

Cetaceans are found in all oceans.
From the far polar reaches
to the Equator.
Prefer deeper marine areas or exclusively
in coastal and shallow water areas.

Diet:
All cetaceans are carnivorous and do not consume plants or algae as food.
Reproduction :
Cetacean breeding is seasonal, usually in the winter
and females normally calve once every two years.
Special Features:
Vision, Hearing.
Echolocation.
Smell.
Taste.
Touch.
Magnetism.

Importance:
Play an important role with sustaining a balanced ecosystem.
Commercial Produced: oil and fat ,Glue and Gelatin.
Have importance for recreation and tourism.
Decidedly injurious to human.

range of mammals species and subspecies. Act as indicator for the state of
our marine environment so, we have to save them.
