Living In The Ocean Blue
 Whales are intelligent, aquatic
  MAMMALS. Yes whales are mammals
 They breath air through blowholes
  (unlike fish who breath through gills).
 Whales can move easily though the
  water.
 They are the only mammals besides
  manatees who live their entire lives in
  water.
Size of Whales
   The biggest whale
    the blue whale can
    grow up to 94 feet
    long - the height of a
    9-story building! The
    smallest whale the
    dwarf sperm whale
    as an adult is only
    8.5 feet long.
Endangered Whales
   Many of the whale species are on the
    endangered list. Most baleen whales
    (the huge whales targeted by whalers)
    are either on the endangered list or the
    protected list. Starting in the 1800’s
    people hunted these beautiful creatures.
    Now the whaling has died down but
    people still hunt them to keep ancestors
    traditions.
