Cause And Effect Sample Essay
Crafting a Cause and Effect essay can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in
navigating the intricate web of relationships between various events and outcomes. The process
involves meticulous research, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the subject matter.
Identifying the causal links demands a keen analytical mind, as you must unravel the
complexities of how one event leads to another.
Firstly, you need to delve into extensive research to gather relevant information and evidence.
This involves scouring through various sources, from scholarly articles to credible databases, to
establish a strong foundation for your arguments. Understanding the cause-and-effect
relationships requires a comprehensive grasp of the topic and its nuances.
Organizing the essay poses another set of challenges. Structuring the content in a logical
sequence is crucial to ensure coherence and readability. You must decide whether to adopt a
chronological, categorical, or order of importance approach. Each decision has implications for
how well your readers will comprehend the causal connections.
Moreover, striking a balance between providing enough details to support your points and
maintaining conciseness is a constant struggle. Too much detail can overwhelm the reader, while
too little may leave your arguments unsupported and weak.
Writing a compelling introduction and conclusion adds an extra layer of complexity. The
introduction must grab the reader's attention, provide background information, and present a
clear thesis statement. Meanwhile, the conclusion should succinctly summarize the key points
and leave a lasting impression on the reader.
In the midst of all these challenges, it's essential to maintain a clear focus on your thesis
statement and avoid veering off into tangential topics. The cause-and-effect relationships should
be the driving force behind your narrative, guiding the reader through a coherent and compelling
exploration of the subject matter.
Despite the difficulties, successfully crafting a Cause and Effect essay can be immensely
satisfying. It sharpens your analytical skills, hones your ability to communicate complex ideas,
and deepens your understanding of the interconnectedness of events in various contexts.

Essay On Patriots Day
Patriots Day. Patriots weekend, how about Patriots Weekends. It is hard to sum up
Minute Man National Historical Park offerings in just a day or weekend. Because of
the numerous activities the park schedules, it is a safe bet to cover three consecutive
Saturdays worth of events which make up this unique Massachusetts event.
Local area towns begin to roll out their celebrations the weekend before Patriots day
(an official state holiday the third Monday in April). In Concord, the town turns out
to celebrate the beginning of the running battle at Merrim Corners on the east side of
town. A morning parade, followed by a salute of the Concord Minute Men and an
open house at Merriam Corner, get the events off. Later in the afternoon, the town ...

As much as you would think the park would have been able to rest on it s laurels,
April s events did not end in the afternoon of April 19th. Saturday, the Guild of

The Ethics Of Battlefield Ministries
Battlefield Ministries is a battlefield where the fight for families is constant. It is a
Christian counseling center with a focus on marriage and family counseling.
Battlefield s slogan is fighting for families and every time the counselors or office
workers step into the office that is what they are doing. For a place with so much
fighting, it has an overwhelming sense of peace that flows through every inch of the
building. The peace is from the One who has already won the ultimate battle and is
present as Battlefield continues on in the fight for families. All warriors have a plan,
or an approach, to fighting and the same is true at Battlefield. Our counselors and
other office staff must decide on the theoretical approaches that will... Show more

Every call is just as important as the next, but my favorite calls are usually those
from individuals who want to become new clients. I usually scan a few files into
our digital program, which has been my biggest project while at Battlefield
Ministries. Every physical file has had to be scanned into the new digital program.
Battlefield opened its doors in 1995, so this has been no small job. These are only
some of the many tasks I may perform while at the office. Some may seem menial
and unimportant to some people, but my experience at Battlefield Ministries is
priceless. I may have just been the woman behind the desk, but I still experienced the
approaches that are most commonly used in the office, whether in session or out of
session. One theoretical approach that can be used to best explain the environment at
Battlefield is Carl Rogers client centered therapy. This approach can also be known as
person centered therapy. Rogers believed that an important part of therapy was the
relationship between the therapist and the client. He believed this relationship should
be a comfortable one, which included the therapist being warm, genuine, and
understanding to the client (McLeod, 2015). As inferred by its name, client centered
therapy puts the importance on the client and making the client comfortable. This
also means that the client is responsible for doing the work to make improvements,
not the therapist.

Patterns in Nature Research Paper Infrared Tech
Infrared Technology Infrared (IR) light cannot be detected by the human eye. It has
an energy factor that is two or three less than visible light and so the retina cannot be
triggered to see it. So, when applied properly, infrared light can be used to help the
human eye see things that were not fathomable beforehand. Infraredlight doesn t give
off much energy and therefore is not very hot. When objects aren t hot enough to
give off visible light, it gives most of its energy in the Infrared Spectrum and is used
in science, art and more. Chances are that people use something that is involved with
Infrared technology every day, but they do not even realize it! Infrared technology is

Infrared imaging is also used for military uses. This includes target acquisition,
surveillance, night vision, homing and tracking (Infrared). This technology allows
missiles and rockets to follow a target by tracking its heat. Night vision goggles and
surveillance is used just as with the thermal imaging to detect things that give off heat
and show them in a way that allows the human eye to see things that it normally could
not.
Infrared technology is being used with many historical art pieces as well.
Traditional light bulbs usually emit some sort of Infrared light of Ultraviolet rays
which, given direct contact to a piece of art work, can damage it. The painting
could crack, fade or peel because the light causes the surface of the painting to rise
in temperature. In other cases, infrared light can be used to literally see through art
work to see what is hiding underneath it. Infrared radiation is close to the visible
range, and can be detected using a certain type of camera used to collect infrared
CCD images. Even more advanced cameras can detect a bigger range of radiation
waves and can produce infrared reflectory images (IRFC). Infrared light can go
through the painting s film and reveal the underdrawing of the art piece ( Visible
and Beyond ). This type of technology has brought some Renaissance art back to life.
Now art historians can look at historic art pieces

Summary of Case Bundy always had a way to manipulate women, He d often
disguise himself with facial hair or draw on moles and pretend to be an authority

hoping a woman might help him ( Ted BundyBiography ,2018). This was Bundy s
way of planning his attack on the victims. There was also the incident where

He would often bite his victims after killing them, One victim was bitten so badly

strong to kill . Bundy treated murder like a sport, he would actually engage in a
catch and release type of training during his off season ( Ted Bundy Biography

Diversity In Chicago
Since the six grade I always wanted to travel to Chicago for band. So I joined a
band I had an extremely fun Time. I got to seventh grade and I was in concert band
and if I wanted to perform in Chicago I had to make the symphonic band by eighth
grade. I practice so much in seventh grade that eighth grade came around I was the
second chair in the symphonic band tuba section. I made it through almost all of
eighth grade year and made a lot of memories but, I still had one more to go, Chicago.
We were in Chicago walking from Sears tower to The Bean. It was awesome, all of
the buildings, the smells and all of the diversity in the city was astonishing. There
was a man of African American ethnicity that approached us and asked if we would
like to donate to the homeless shelter that he lives in, I have him $5 and I felt
really bad for him. We get to an art figure and stood on pillars placed in front of it,
and took pictures. Passing by the pizza place that we ate at later on we were
confronted by a group of christians caroling in the streets of Chicago, and we were
asked if we wanted to sing with them. We rejected the question and continued
walking down the street. Overall in four days I saw a diversity level way higher than
I ve ever seen in Alpena in eight years.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Transgender History
In the E book Transgender History in the United States , Genny Beemyn looks back
on the past of transgender visibility and discrimination in America, citing those who
historically broke out of their traditional gender roles, and using these stories to prove
that there have been gender questioning people for millennia. Beemyn also helps to
differentiate crossdressing and being transgender. The author explains the
discrimination these people faced, how they lived their lives, and the ways they hid
their past identities. He supports this claim by first telling the story of Billy Tipton,
a jazz musician from the 1980 s. Beemyn explains how Tipton was defined female at
birth, but lived his life as man, and even ...avoided doctors and died from... Show

He explains that it is a common misconception that crossdressers and transgenders are
the same, when crossdressers continue to identify personally as their birth gender, and
transgender individuals identify as a gender other than what they were assigned at
birth, typically experiencing body dysphoria as well. This could certainly be
contributing to the issue of transphobia as well, causing confusion about whether
someone is just pretending to be another gender, or actually identifies as such.
Misconceptions and confusion such as this could be adding fuel to the fire over the
controversy of transgenders and bathroom laws, people believing that individuals
who are the gender they dress like are simply acting, doing it for personal enjoyment
or deceiving. Beemyn s purpose is to show how early on gender nonconformity has
lasted, and to get rid of misconceptions as to what being transgender actually
Pros And Cons Of Containment Policy
Containment PolicyAs promulgated in 1947 by one of its chief architects, George
Kennan, the policy of containment fashioned a strategy to deal with the implacable
challenge posed by Soviet Communists (Kennan, 582). Because of their ideology and
history, the Soviets were held to be dangerous and thus their expansion must be
countered by the West. To deal with the Soviet threat, Kennan called for a long term
and vigilant containment of Russian expansive tendencies (Kennan, 575). Although
containment policy was widely accepted at its point of conception, the policy is in
fact logically flawed. If the Soviet system really was a flawed as theorists such as
Kennan surmised, then the best policy would have been not to contain it, but to give
it enough... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Partly out of fear of repeating the Vietnam experience, the United Stateswent into a
sort of containment funk and watched from the sidelines as the Soviet Union
opportunistically gathered a set of Third World countries into its imperial embrace:
Angola in 1976, Mozambique and Ethiopia in 1977, South Yemen and Afghanistan in
1978, Grenada and Nicaragua in 1979. However, far from whetting their appetite for
more, these gains ultimately not only satiated their appetite for expansion but, given
the special properties of the morsels they happened to consume, the process served to
give the ravenous expanders a troubling case of indigestion. For almost all of the new
acquisitions soon became economic and political basket cases, fraught with
dissension, financial mismanagement, and civil warfare. In 1979 the situation in
neighboring Afghanistan had so deteriorated that the Soviets found it necessary to
send in troops, and descended into a long period of enervating warfare there. As each
member of the newly expanded empire turned toward the Soviet Union for material
support, many Soviets began to wonder about the wisdom of the venture. Perhaps, it
began to seem, they would have been better off contained. The internal contradictions
the Soviets came to confront, then, were a direct result of misguided domestic and
foreign policies, and these contradictions would have to come about as Kennan seems
to suggest no matter what policy the West chose to pursue. Soviet domestic problems
derived from decades of mismanagement, mindless brutality, and fundamental
misconceptions about basic economic and social realities. Their defense dilemmas
came from conspiratorial ideology that creates external enemies and then exaggerated
the degree to which the enemies would use war to destroy them. Soviet foreign policy
failures stemmed from a fundamentally flawed, and often highly romantic,
Social Movements And Its Effect On Society Essay
A phenomenon which has remained constant throughout history is the evolution of
society. This persistent phenomenon helps to constantly reshape society. Helping
mold it into a suitable form that caters to the needs of those who inhabit it. The
evolution of society may take years, if not decades, to occur. However, during certain
moments in history, society has undergone rapid change in short periods of time.
These rapid periods of change are often caused by undesirable events that influence
the general population to revolt and act against those in control of society. Often
motivating the mobilization of the public in great numbers to protest . Frequently, the
main objectives of these protests are to improve upon aspects of society or to revise
the state of society entirely. Generally, in hopes of promoting society s development
to the benefit of the masses. These large scale gatherings of the population to alter
society for the better are known as Social Movements. These movements help to
gather vast numbers of like minded individuals who wish to change the methods used
to operate society. Often these movements target those in positions of power, in hopes
of influencing them to act upon the state of society. Social movements themselves
have occurred frequently throughout the history of society. Some movements
succeed, influencing power holders into action in regards to the condition of society,
achieving their main purpose. Other movements; however, seldom procure enough

Gay Identity
In the early hours on June 28, 1969, police stormed into the Stonewall Inn, a gay
bar and refuge. The police began to batter the people inside the bar and arrested
thirteen others. As the violence escalated, bottles, coins, and stones were thrown at
the police. Activist Sylvia Rivera was one of the first to throw a bottle into the ranks
of police officers; she exclaimed, It s the Revolution! Those bottles thrown in
retaliation to discrimination and assault marked the beginning of a movement to
bring about rights and acceptance for the LGBTcommunity. My metaphorical bottles
were thrown timidly under the table at first, but now, they sail across the sky in a

Americans, the constrictions once placed around me. The journey I ve been
undergoing since discovering my sexuality has been one similar to a labyrinth with
all of its dead ends and confusion. My journey has undergone an immense amount of
evolution that has transformed me into the person I am today. My freshman year

realization that I am bisexual. At the time, I was completely ashamed of the person
that I was. Even though the majority of my friends were supportive of gay rights, I
was convinced that once they found out, they would hate me. Coming outwas
unimaginable; just the thought of it made me nauseous. The fact that I live in a tiny

Regression Analysis
Regression Analysis and Business Rules of thumb, instinct, convention, and simple
financial analysis are frequently no longer adequate for addressing such common
decisions found in business such as make versus buy, facility site selection, and
process redesign. Generally, the forces of competition are commanding a need for
more efficient decision making at all levels in companies. Decision analysts provide
quantitative support for the decision makers in all areas including engineers, analysts
in planning offices and public agencies, project managementconsultants,
manufacturing process planners, financial and economic analysts and experts
supporting medical and technological diagnosis (Tools for Decision Analysis:
Analysis of Risky Decisions, 2012). Modeling for decision making comprises two
distinct entities, one is the decision maker and the other is the model builder who is
known as the analyst. The function of the analyst is to help the decision maker in
their decision making process. Consequently, the analyst must be outfitted with more
than a set of analytical methods. Specialists in model building are frequently lured to
study a problem, and then go off by themselves to develop a complex mathematical
model for use by the manager. Unfortunately the manager may not comprehend this
model and may either use it blindly or decline it all together. The specialist may feel
that the manager is too uninformed and unsophisticated to be grateful for the model,

Positive Effects Of Fracking
Fracking is a shorter form of Hydraulic Fracturing which is the extraction process
of both natural gas and oil. The process involves drilling deep into the Earth s
surface. Fractures are then created by pumping large quantities of fluids at high
pressure down a welfare and into the target rock formation (EPA, 2016). After
making these openings for the gas or oil to come up (known as flowback ) the
materials can be stored. The reason the fracking process occurs is because more
usual methods of extraction may not be able to fully reach the deposits of shale
gas and oil (2015). Although the process of Fracking seems reasonable because it
is something we use in our daily lives for cooking food, heating homes, and
amongst other things, the question remains whether it is an actual positive or
negative to not only us (not even a question) but to the environment? When
looking at the pro side one main reason would be the additional access to gas and oil
fracking would give us since many scientists believe we only had a few years left to
use fossil fuels before they ran out (2015). The second positive effect for us would be
the lowering of taxes. With more accessibility to gas and oil it wouldn t be such a
demand allowing gas for cooking to lower as well as petroleumfor cars. Lastly, it can

Part II: Impact on Management Style In relation to the four functions of management:
planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, it is evident how my personal
thinking styles impact the way in which I manage. First and foremost, I think that my
Conventional Style of thinking impacts my management styles the most. Although I
am conventional in my practices, I am not dogmatic. I understand the importance in
not remaining steadfast with something if it is continually not working, and I also
understand the importance of being able to adapt to what does work. When it
comes to planning and organizing I do like to stick to the rules before anything
else. But as mentioned before, I often deviate from those rules if they do not appear
to be producing adequate results. I will have to admit that my Conventional Style of
thinking does give me comfort in times of great stress, but I do not see that as a
negative practice, but more of a practical application to individual differences.
Another one of my thinking styles that I feel highly impacts my managing style in
relation to planning and organizing is my Achievement Oriented Style. Although
this style was not identified as either my primary or back up thinking styles, I do
believe it plays a large role in my effectiveness as a manager. In
What Role Did Thomas Aquinas Play In The Medieval
World
Thomas Aquinas is considered by many as the Church s greatest theologian and
philosopher. Living from 1225 to 1274, he was very influential in the realm of
scholasticism and was known as Doctor of the Church . He is a saint of the Catholic
Church and is a model teacher for those joining the priesthood. The philosophy of
Aquinas has exerted enormous influence on subsequent Christian theology, especially
that of the Roman Catholic Church, but also Western philosophy in general.

Essentially, things are able to come into existence and they are able to pass out of
existence. Since it is possible for things to not exist, then there must have been a
point in time where nothing existed. However if nothing existed at one point then
nothing would exist even now, since everything that exists requires for its existence
something that already existed. Obviously it cannot be claimed that nothing exists
now. There must be something in which its existence is necessary. Since most
things come and go out of existence, it can be said that there existence is not
necessary as life goes on without them. Again it is impossible to have an a series of
necessary things go back to infinity there must be something that is necessary in
itself. This is God. Fourth, we as beings in the world have characteristics by which
we judge to varying degrees. Some people are more or less noble, or true, or good. All
of these characteristics have a maximum or perfect version. In that case, there must be
something which has set these standards, something that is the most noble or true or
good. Aquinas follows Aristotelian teachings in that things that are the greatest in
truth are also the greatest in being. There then must be something that is the cause for
all these maximums. And that is

Crow Dog and Indians Lives. Because I only had a limited knowledge on Indians,
the book was full of surprising incidents. Moreover, she starts out her story by
describing how her Indian friends died in miserable and unjustifiable ways. After
reading first few pages, I was able to tell that Indians were mistreated in the same
manners as African Americans by whites. The only facts that make it look worse
are, Indians got their land stolen and prejudice and inequality for them still exists.
Just like other Indian kids on reservation, Crow Dog s childhood was poor in
everyway; didn t have enough food, clothes, education, and parents love. She was...

Crow Dog tried to fight against the school system and published newspapers,
explaining how school is treating them like slaves. She quit school but she
somehow managed to get her diploma. Despite the fact that she earned her
diploma, Crow Dog was living aimlessly; drinking, drugs, stealing, and running
away from home. Many Indians spend their ADC check on those things because of
the given situation they are in. However, not every Indian spends the day boozed
and stoned; like people of AIM are trying to fight against the wrong system. She
joins AIM where she finds Indians, living their lives to the fullest to fight for their
right. AIM changed her life in two big ways; she learned to fight not only for
herself but also for her own people and met her husband Leonard Crow Dog. As an
AIM person and Indian, she participates in many Indian activities such as BIA take
over, the siege at Wounded Knee, and many peyote meetings. She fights against
dictator at Pine Ridge, which leads her and AIM people to Wounded Knee where
they stayed and fought for 71days. With very limited food and weapon, they lasted
71 days with their spiritual strength. Peyote meetings and Ghost dance are good
examples that show Indians are very spiritual people. Despite all the double standard
they have faced all their lives, Indians survived and fought strong for their rights.

Childhood Obesity Is Defined As A Body Mass Index
BRIEF REVIEW OF THE TOPIC According to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (2009), Childhood Obesity is defined as a Body Mass Index at or
above 95th percentile for both male and female children in the United States.
Approximately 9 million children are struggling with Obesity (Gootman, J.A.,
McGinnis, M., Kraak, V.I., 2006). The rate at which children are being diagnosed
with obesity has more than doubled over a span of 25 years form 7% to 18% for
children ranging in age from 6 11 years (Ogden CL, Carroll MD, Kit BK, Flegal
KM., 2014). Furthermore, the National Center for Health Statistics reported the
percentage of obese adolescents aged 12 19 years more that tripled within the same
time span from 5% to nearly 21%. The National Institutes of Health, National Heart,
Lung, and Blood Institute, through collaborative efforts defined overweight as
having an excess in body weight, along with a specified height, for a particular
combination of mass from fat, muscle, bone and water.LITERATURE REVIEW
LEADING TO SELECTION OF ARTICLES The field of Public Health offers much
evidence through various studies that obesity is an epidemic. Having experience in
dealing with community projects to address obesity, the conclusion is made that
enhanced policy is needed to implement effective approaches that aid in the reduction
of obesity in adulthood by targeting younger populations. State and government

How Does Joe Gargery Influence Pip s Life
Great Expectations, written by Charles Dickens, is a classic novel from 1860,
displaying the influence of people on a person s life. In the novel, Pip s life is
predestined until he acquires property, showing him the difference between his life
and the life he wants to live. Throughout Great Expectations, Charles Dickens
emphasizes kindness through friendships with Joe, Biddy, and Herbert by their
thoughts and actions to influence Pip in a positive way when confronted with a
change of lifestyle. Joe Gargery is Pip s father figure; his first true friend and
influence in the novel. The first time Joe shows kindness to Pip is at Christmas
dinner when Mr. Pumblechook and other friends of Mrs. Joe tell Pip he is an all
around awful child. Joe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first time they meet, Pip states, Herbert Pocket had a frank and easy way with
him that was very taking. I had never seen anyone then, and I have never seen
anyone since, who more strongly expressed to me, in every look and tone, a
natural incapacity to do anything secret and mean (138). Dickens uses this
sentence to separate Herbert out from all the other characters Pip has met. Herbert
shows kindness naturally and easily toward Pip and it comforts him and influences
him to reciprocate the gesture back to him and others. Pip admires the separation
in Herbert when he says, What a hopeful disposition you have! and Herbert
responds by saying, I ought to have for I have not much else. I must acknowledge,
by the bye, that the good sense of what I have just said is not my own, but my
father s (195). Herbert is kind enough to give credit to the person who gave him
what he owns and not to be dependent on those things. The influence of Herbert s
kindness on Pip is greatest because he was there when Pip was transitioning from
his past life into his new life of money. Pip s kindness is finally seen when he starts
to give money to Herbert in chapter 36 of the novel. Herbert teaches him he can be
humble and independent, and Pip shows his kindness by giving Herbert the life he

Essay On The Red Scare
As the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States grew in the late
1940s and early 1950s, over the perceived threat posed by Communists in the U.S.
became known as the Red Scare. The Red Scare led to a range of actions that had a
profound and enduring effect on U.S. government and society. The climate of fear
and repression linked to the Red Scare finally began to ease by the late 1950s.
Civil Liberties are individual rights protected by law from unjust Government and
other interference. Some people began thinking that communists were in the US
undercover. Loyalty oaths were started for employees. There were Spy Trials.
McCarthy thought there were a bunch of communists in the US and even though he

A Red Scare is the promotion of fear of a potential rise of communism or radical
leftism. In the United States, the First Red Scare was about worker revolution and
political radicalism. The Second Red Scare was focused on national and foreign
communists influencing society, infiltrating the federal government, or both. As
World War II was ending, a fear driven movement known as the Second Red Scare
began to spread across the United States. Americans feared that the Soviet Union
hoped to spread communism all over the world, overthrowing both democratic and
capitalist institutions as it went. This Scare as caused by fears of subversion by

derived from one of the era s most notorious anti Communists, Senator Joseph
McCarthy. Yet the anti Communist crusade of the late 1940s and 1950s both in
Hills Like White Elephants and Good People
When comparing two works of literature it is always best to have a firm
understanding of how each author expresses their thoughts and emotions through
the stories they tell. In comparing Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants
and David Foster Wallace s Good People you get a different sense as to how each
author conveys their thoughts of the very difficult and often taboo topic of abortion.
Both stories are different in plot, conclusion, and construction, although they share
common artistic similarities, including the large use of physical surroundings and
metaphors. When comparing and contrasting stories of similar writings it is
important to pick up on the subtle literary ways an author is able to convey their
thoughts. In Hemingway s Hills like white elephants there are very subtle details
that are noticed only when you dissect the reading and look past the text that is
written on the page. We are introduced to both the American and the Girl early on
in the story. As the story progresses on you begin to notice how different each
person is and how that lack of knowledge can be almost child like in nature. The age
of either person is never mentioned, although when reading the story you get a strong
sense that the American is significantly older than his female counterpart. Her
inexperience is first noticed when she begins to ask about alcoholic beverages and
how they compare to the taste of licorice (Hemingway 591). Hemingway skillfully

The Movement Of The Church Of England
The people whose hearts sought for the freedom to worship God however they
pleased, helped spark a revolution that led to the country we have today. When the
Church of England was established, it suppressed many other religions that the
people clung so tightly to. The center and whole of many people s lives were
ripped apart and re centered on the now, dominant Church of England. After a short
period of time, it seemed that there had been some sort of dryness in the church,
where people tended to go through the motions and carry on with their everyday
lives. It seemed that the church had fallen into a religious sleep. People could no
longer worship in the way they wanted. The cause of many people leaving their
country was their liberty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The desire to journey to the new land began when the Church of England was started
and people no longer had the freedom to worship God in the way they wanted. The
Church of England persecuted other religions being practiced. The people wanted a
simpler form of faith and a less structured way of worship. They called themselves
the Puritans because they wanted to purify the church. A group that was even
more radical called themselves the Separatists because they demanded a
completely new congregation. After being persecuted, this group set sail for the
new world. Maybe here, they could worship God in the way they pleased. One
hundred and two pilgrims boarded the Mayflower, their ticket to a whole new way
of life. The ticket was a dangerous one, and the people knew it. They understood that
the ticket they held, the voyage to the new world, was a risky one. They knew they
were risking their lives as well as their own families. Yet they traveled on, realizing
the importance of the freedom they could have to worship the Lord. To them, that
was of much more importance than their very lives, showing their commitment to the
Lord. Puritans came to the new world in thousands, letting the Bible guide their every
step. The Bible was the governing document of the New England colonies. Although,
as strong and moral as the Puritan faith was, they too began to make the mistake of
the church they were fleeing from. Like the Church of England,
Essay On Showboat
The musical Showboat acted as hammer in 1927 because of its ability to
revolutionize musical theatre by presenting topics such as racism, interracial
romance, and marital heartbreak as well as changing the course of musical theatre.
The topic of interracial marriage was a topic hit early on in the musical. The star
actress on the show boat named Julie La Verne was discovered to be passing as a
white woman even though she actually an African Americanparent. When this issue
was brought up to the sheriff, he felt obligated to confront Julie and Steve about
their crime of miscegenation. It was at this point in the musical that Steve pricked
Julie s finger and drinks her blood in order to tell the sheriff that black blood flowed

Case Study On Strategic Segmentation
Thus, this research seeks to better understand the processes used by organisations in
the development of a successful strategic segmentation, as well as its impact and
influence on consumer s preferences and behaviour. The methodology initially
developed was both quantitative and qualitative, by the means of Triangulation. As
developed by Hammersley (1996) and later on stated by Lee and Lings (2008),
Triangulation allows the researcher to mix both quantitative and qualitative methods,
in order to achieve a more exact and consistent result.
Based on this method, the research strategy developed was to collect information on
British companies, so to understand which communication and marketing strategies
were being developed when targeting audiences. Furthermore, this information would
be used during the process of collecting qualitative data over consumers of these
brands. In the latter, the objective was to understand their perspective and attitude
towards the product and brand. Finally, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

well as to analyse if there is a discrepancy of perspectives on people from the same

original methodology chosen for this research, which was to be based upon UK
telecommunication companies and the comparison between their marketing
strategies and its impact on consumers.
Finally, this will give us a better understanding on the following empirical
examination: organisational understanding over consumers and how they select the
most appropriate variables for segmentation; how consumers respond to it and their
heterogeneity; how vast is the use of new segmentation solutions, multi generational

The essay, Maryland s Environment: A 20,000 Year History of Change states, in the
early days of the colony, European settlers themselves slowly cleared the land. Their
pigs, cattle, horses, and fowl were fenced out of house yards and ranged free in the
Maryland woods. The activities of the livestock were very effective in clearing the
understory and preventing the regeneration of forests. Farming practices especially
tobacco agriculture, which was so widespread in Tidewater Maryland included the
frequent clearing of fields and their later abandonment due to exhausted soils, which
led
to the fragmentation of forests and the creation of patchwork landscapes.
The late 1800s and early 1900s witnessed the most extensive deforestation in
Maryland,
when approximately 80 percent of the land was cleared of trees. The result was
Ophelia in William Shakespeare s Hamlet Essay
Ophelia in William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Follow her close, give her good watch, I pray you (IV.5.73).
Ostensibly, Shakespeare s Hamlet is the riddling, enigmatic, inscrutable theatrical
character par excellence. His motives, madness, conflicting morals and existential
struggles are ambiguous to say the least. When analysing his character, Laertes and
Fortinbras are often brought in as examples of less extreme characters dealing with
similar but more tangible dilemmas. The idea that there may be someone who
exceeds Hamlet in instability and incomprehensibility is unfathomable. But if one
looks at the character of Ophelia, this notion not only becomes a viable possibility: it
becomes unignorable. For while Hamlet is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She is weighed down with others expectations, and the fact that we do not hear her
contemplate the meaning of it all is not due to her mindlessness, but rather to her
never having obtained the privilige of either voicing her thoughts or of questioning
her situation. Her mechanical responses to Polonius I shall obey, my lord (I.3136),
as you did command (II.1.105) and to Hamlet No, my lord Ay, my lord I think

my lord (III.2.106 141) are automatic. Resignation has become second nature.
With the lines Tis in my memory lock d,/And you yourself shall keep the key of it
(I.3.85), Ophelia surrenders all responsibility to Laertes: the image of his access to
her memory is a powerful one. This, in turn, juxtaposed against Polonius demand to
possess full access to their relationship, creates a disturbing picture of a young
woman s complete lack of privacy. The very language Polonius uses, Give me up the
truth (I.3.98) implies surrender. The fact that the word truth, is used to describe what
she is meant to give up, loads the demand to breaking point.
But Ophelia is not only fenced in and loaded down. She also lacks the capacity to
act, so that even if she were released from her confines, she would be at a loss with
what to do with her freedom. And this state of precariousness is evident in her
frightend reply to Polonius My lord, I do not
Persuasive Essay On The Pledge Of Allegiance
As a daily routine many schools have their students start by standing up, facing the
American flag, and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. This is something that most
students have memorized since kindergarten and in some cases even preschool. The
students recite the pledge every morning and most of them don t know what it
means or aren t really sure why they have to say it. If students don t know what the
purpose or the history behind something is, they generally don t take the matter
seriously, which with The Pledge being a serious matter, students need to know the
history in order to show respect. The Pledge of Allegianceshould be said every
morning by students at schools in the USA and they should be aware of its meaning.
There have been several versions of The Pledge and the one that we currently recite
today was revised back in 1954 when president Eisenhower reacted to the communist
threat. The original version was written by Francis Bellamyin 1892, who had hoped
that countries around the world would recreate their own versions. Now, in most
states reciting The Pledge at school is a state law. The Pledge consist of students
standing up, facing the American flag, placing their right hand over their heart, and
saying the words I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United Statesof America, and
to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty
and justice for all. In other places when The Pledge is being recited its considered
Mortality In Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep
Raymond Chandler, author of the novel the The Big Sleep , was able to obtain the
title of his book by how he used the characters to give a comprehensive plot. The
title of this novel was a metaphor to speak about death in a more light way and to
have a deeper meaning to it as the characters shown in the novel. The question of
mortality is seen on every page of this novel, the title itself means death as it talks
about a prolonged, deep, almost unending slumber. It alludes to rumination in the last
pages of the book about resting the big sleep.
You were dead, you were sleeping the big sleep, you were not bothered by things
like that, oil and water were the same as wind and air to you. You just slept the big
sleep, not caring about the nastiness of how you died or where you fell (230).
When we look at the whole novel, we can see that there are series of death cases,
and there is a hidden plan, which leaves the characters in this story to have a
different perspective about death. Chandler has created a nice story line that shows
how the community of Los Angeles handles or defines mortality. 1930s Los Angeles
with its killers and blackmailers is fundamentally a city of doubt, where every ...

At first we couldn t rejected the null hypothesis because result from table 1 shows
that only two variables were stationary at level while four variables became
stationary at first difference and the result gives us the strong proof of unit root in
the variables. Therefore all variables were tested at first difference and the ADF test

null hypothesis at first difference of unit root were rejected so we concluded by
saying that the variables became stationary after first difference. Which means that
the variables are co integrated of order one I(1), and this give us the chance to

a mysterious blue green planet. William Herschel, who discovered Uranus on March

Pew Research On Online Dating
Pew Research Center) According to the Pew Center Research, 1 in every 10
Americans have used dating site or app. 2013 And the reason for 60% of those who
use online dating say that they do it for, meeting people who share similar interests
or hobbies. Notably, Tinder claims to be a social network, rather than a datingapp.
Still many of it s users start the app with the intentions of dating. While Tinder is still
competing with other well established online datingsites, like eharmony, match.com,
and OkCupid, the app has attracted the majority of young people with its users
varying in ages, 16 34. (Global Web Index)
In an effort to help understand the success behind Tinder, Jonathan Badeen, the co
founder of the app reveals in an article from the Business Insider, , You re human,
and you can t help but make a series of judgments about the people standing before

someone walking into a room with new people. Being that it can basically seem just
a judgmental app, he further claims, This rapid recall of accumulated experience and
knowledge to form an immediate judgment is what we call intuition. And, as
psychological studies have shown, it delivers a surprisingly high level of accuracy.
Badeen refers to the app connecting people with the same natural aspects we use on a
daily basis when interacting with other people.
In general, most of our social media is based on photos. There is a
A Time For Change Again !
A Time for Change; Again! With the way this election has turned out and the
thoughts that are had by most, change of the election process has come up multiple
times by all kinds of people. We see this is the posts on social media, the protest
that have happened across the nation, and the speeches from politicians to give the
president elect a chance. There are family and friends that are no longer talking to
each other and rules that have been set for holiday gatherings that certain topics are
not allowed in conversation. In talking to people both inside and outside of my
family, I have come to realize that most people do not know how the primary
system works. They do not know the difference between a primary or a caucus or
even how the delegates during this process are divided up amongst the candidates.
The two parts of the process that seem to be questioned the most are the primary
system and the use of the electoral college. Both processes seem unfair and outdated.
I believe a change to the primary system should happen because most Americans do
not get to vote for the candidate they want, the first two states to vote in the primaries
are not representative of the population, and voter turnout is very low due to the dates
and times they are held.
Americans do not always get to vote for the candidate that they want during the
primary election. For instance, states like California who vote later in the primary
election, may find that they are forced to choose
The Pros And Cons Of The WPA
Drastic times called for drastic measures during the times of the Great Depression.
The longest and most severe depression had major negative effects on unemployment
rates, living conditions, health, education, families, and the overall quality of life
during the time. In response to all the adversity, the New Dealallowed one of the most
ambitious agencies, the WPA, or the Works Progress Administration
, to be
implemented. The WPA lead to major improvements in social and cultural aspects,
large developments for the state of Kentucky and the effects of the WPA were
everlasting and can still be seen today.
For starters, the Works Progress Administration can be considered one of the most
beneficial actions of the New Deal, due to the wide variety of jobs and
opportunities that it offered. Not only did it offer jobs, but it pushed for different
parts of federal arts to be established. Public projects allowed for millions of
unskilled men, women, and children to be employed and make a living. Projects
created for mainly the men included building roads, schools, museums, community
centers, and hospitals. Women, however, were taught to use sewing machines as a
form of work, to make clothing, bedding, and supplies for hospitals and adoptions
centers. A significant component of the WPA was incorporating fine arts which
allowed for creativity from writers, painters, actors, and musicians. Overall, the main
goal of the WPA was to start public building programs in order to end the
Why Canada Is A Multicultural Country
Canada has always been a multicultural country. It is well known as a country that
accepts diversity and depending heavily on immigration for its population growth.
The largest groups of immigrants to Canada are from Asian and Middle Eastern
countries. This fact has remained virtually unchanged since the 2001 census (Potter et
al., 2014, p.110). Although Canada demonstrates genderequality to some degree
among the various different cultures it has, however, gender inequality exists among
many countries. Gender inequality exits to a varying extent in all societies and
differs over time, across social and ethnic groups (Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010). In
Saudi Arabia, the system of governance is a monarchy, with its constitution governed
by strict interpretation of the Islamic laws (Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010). In Saudi
Arabia, women s roles and rights can be evaluated by examining the local
interpretation of the Islamic laws, through: education, job opportunity, marriage,
polygamy and fertility (Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010).
Statistics shows that about 30% of Saudi women are illiterates, although, presently,
there are more female graduates than males in Saudi Arabia (Mobaraki,
Söderfeldt, 2010). This is so, because, some parts of Saudi Arabia (where
nonreligious education was regarded as unsuitable for girls) initially opposed the
opening of schools for girls ((Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010).In addition to that, mixed
sex education is not allowed in Saudi Arabia (Mobaraki

Donald Trump Is Not Short On Controversy And Criticism
Donald Trump

Introduction
Donald John Trump is not short on controversy and criticism when it comes to his
outspoken persona and views on certain issues. Hence the reasons why I chose to
write about Donald Trump. However, to give credit Trump had success of developing
businesses such as real estate. A spotlight has been hovering over him for the
majority of his years because of his status among society. With his notoriety in his
show The Apprentice , he became not only a businessman, but also a celebrity
through television. Trump indeed has influences in the entertainment, business and
political world which makes him a solid candidate for the 2016 presidential run. His
charisma and his ambitious, yet controversial personality is what drove me to choose
to write about him.
The most significant curiosity that I have, however, is whether a businessman and
essentially a celebrity can possibly become president. He already has a large
following because of his celebrity notoriety and has influential partners to back him
during his campaign. So the momentum that he has going into this presidential
election is increasingly become rapid. His celebrity status and his long listed resume
of creating businesses, undoubtedly brings political and public attention to his
accountability and campaign.
Biography
Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York.
Dunbar s Poem We War The Mask
Questions for We Wear the Mask:
The mask that is described in this poem is meant to represent the hiding of the
emotions and the identity of an individual. It references the idea that in order for one
to survive in the world, one must hide their true personality, feelings, and in the
context of this poem, their race.
The line, [...] debt we pay to human guile, is used to imply the feelings of shame and
guilt that come with the deceit one commits when they hide themselves. When a
person hides behind a mask, they become unable to truly connect with any other
human beings, on the grounds that the negativity linked with the mask often prevents
proper interaction, in which emotions are key.
In Dunbar s original context of the poem, he uses we, in order to clearly state that the
poem is created from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the comparison between the author and dust, but is different from a
metaphor due to the use of the word like.
The poetic device used in the line, You may cut me with your eyes, can be considered
to be an example of personification. The line emphasizes the idea that eyes have the
power to physically harm someone or something, while in reality they lack this
ability. This attaches a specific human trait or characteristic to something that would
not have this trait otherwise.
After reading Maya Angelou s poem, Still I Rise, it becomes very clear that
Angelou is proud of her race, and finds power from her past, as well as her culture.
Throughout the poem, Angelou reiterates the positivity that she associates with
being black, and she does so while inciting feelings of great power and inspiration.
She will still rise, no matter who, or what, attempts to tear her down. Angelou makes
it very clear that she will not be silenced, she will not hide, and most importantly, she
will not be ashamed of her race or
Architecture Of The Colosseum
Once the Colosseum had been built, it seems to have become the model for many, if
not most, of those that followed (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 24). The Colosseum
stands proudly upon the villainous Emperor Nero s once grand Valley of the Golden
House, projecting the munificence of Imperial Roman Architecture. Its ultimate
design could be said to be formed through purpose or function. However, this does not
do justice to the importance of architecture within Roman society (Thornton and
Thornton in Lyes 1999, 2). The functions, whether it be religious or otherwise, of the
Colosseumwere irrelevant to the ultimate design of the architecture, as the
architectural features contained within the Colosseum s ultimate design created an
instant archetype, a marker of Romanness across the empire (Hopkins and Beard
2005, 25). The clever use of the classical orders and façades, and adaptation of
existing Roman architecture of the period allowed the Colosseum to become a model
for many subsequent Roman amphitheatres, whilst showing the ingenuity of Roman
architecture of the period.
The architectural vocabulary of the Colosseum saw the clever use of existing Roman
design practices to create a final structure which became a precedent for all
Amphitheatres which followed. Thus, highlighting the overriding importance of the
aesthetics the ultimate design displayed. The importance of the appearance in the
final design s architecture begins with the conventions which were used for

In 1979, a report from the Special Cabinet Committee chaired by Dr. Mahathir

Cause And Effect Sample Essay. Cause and effect introduction paragraph examples. How to Write a ...

  • 1. Cause And Effect Sample Essay Crafting a Cause and Effect essay can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in navigating the intricate web of relationships between various events and outcomes. The process involves meticulous research, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the subject matter. Identifying the causal links demands a keen analytical mind, as you must unravel the complexities of how one event leads to another. Firstly, you need to delve into extensive research to gather relevant information and evidence. This involves scouring through various sources, from scholarly articles to credible databases, to establish a strong foundation for your arguments. Understanding the cause-and-effect relationships requires a comprehensive grasp of the topic and its nuances. Organizing the essay poses another set of challenges. Structuring the content in a logical sequence is crucial to ensure coherence and readability. You must decide whether to adopt a chronological, categorical, or order of importance approach. Each decision has implications for how well your readers will comprehend the causal connections. Moreover, striking a balance between providing enough details to support your points and maintaining conciseness is a constant struggle. Too much detail can overwhelm the reader, while too little may leave your arguments unsupported and weak. Writing a compelling introduction and conclusion adds an extra layer of complexity. The introduction must grab the reader's attention, provide background information, and present a clear thesis statement. Meanwhile, the conclusion should succinctly summarize the key points and leave a lasting impression on the reader. In the midst of all these challenges, it's essential to maintain a clear focus on your thesis statement and avoid veering off into tangential topics. The cause-and-effect relationships should be the driving force behind your narrative, guiding the reader through a coherent and compelling exploration of the subject matter. Despite the difficulties, successfully crafting a Cause and Effect essay can be immensely satisfying. It sharpens your analytical skills, hones your ability to communicate complex ideas, and deepens your understanding of the interconnectedness of events in various contexts. For those who find themselves overwhelmed, assistance is available. Similar essays and a plethora of writing services can be accessed on platforms like HelpWriting.net. It is a Christian counseling center with a focus on marriage and family counseling. Battlefield s slogan is fighting for families and every time the counselors or office workers step into the office that is what they are doing. For a place with so much fighting, it has an overwhelming sense of peace that flows through every inch of the building. The peace is from the One who has already won the ultimate battle and is present as Battlefield continues on in the fight for families. I usually scan a few files into our digital program, which has been my biggest project while at Battlefield Ministries. Every physical file has had to be scanned into the new digital program. Battlefield opened its doors in 1995, so this has been no small job. These are only some of the many tasks I may perform while at the office. Some may seem menial and unimportant to some people, but my experience at Battlefield Ministries is priceless. I may have just been the woman behind the desk, but I still experienced the approaches that are most commonly used in the office, whether in session or out of session. One theoretical approach that can be used to best explain the environment at Battlefield is Carl Rogers client centered therapy. This approach can also be known as person centered therapy. Rogers believed that an important part of therapy was the relationship between the therapist and the client. He believed this relationship should be a comfortable one, which included the therapist being warm, genuine, and understanding to the client (McLeod, 2015). As inferred by its name, client centered therapy puts the importance on the client and making the client comfortable. This also means that the client is responsible for doing the work to make improvements, not the therapist.

It has an energy factor that is two or three less than visible light and so the retina cannot be triggered to see it. So, when applied properly, infrared light can be used to help the human eye see things that were not fathomable beforehand. Infraredlight doesn t give off much energy and therefore is not very hot. When objects aren t hot enough to give off visible light, it gives most of its energy in the Infrared Spectrum and is used in science, art and more. Infrared technology is being used with many historical art pieces as well. Traditional light bulbs usually emit some sort of Infrared light of Ultraviolet rays which, given direct contact to a piece of art work, can damage it. The painting could crack, fade or peel because the light causes the surface of the painting to rise in temperature. In other cases, infrared light can be used to literally see through art work to see what is hiding underneath it. Infrared radiation is close to the visible range, and can be detected using a certain type of camera used to collect infrared CCD images. Even more advanced cameras can detect a bigger range of radiation waves and can produce infrared reflectory images (IRFC). Infrared light can go through the painting s film and reveal the underdrawing of the art piece ( Visible and Beyond ). This type of technology has brought some Renaissance art back to life. Now art historians can look at historic art pieces

This could certainly be contributing to the issue of transphobia as well, causing confusion about whether someone is just pretending to be another gender, or actually identifies as such. Misconceptions and confusion such as this could be adding fuel to the fire over the controversy of transgenders and bathroom laws, people believing that individuals who are the gender they dress like are simply acting, doing it for personal enjoyment or deceiving. Beemyn s purpose is to show how early on gender nonconformity has lasted, and to get rid of misconceptions as to what being transgender actually
  • 11. Pros And Cons Of Containment Policy Containment PolicyAs promulgated in 1947 by one of its chief architects, George Kennan, the policy of containment fashioned a strategy to deal with the implacable challenge posed by Soviet Communists (Kennan, 582). Because of their ideology and history, the Soviets were held to be dangerous and thus their expansion must be countered by the West. To deal with the Soviet threat, Kennan called for a long term and vigilant containment of Russian expansive tendencies (Kennan, 575). Although containment policy was widely accepted at its point of conception, the policy is in fact logically flawed. If the Soviet system really was a flawed as theorists such as Kennan surmised, then the best policy would have been not to contain it, but to give it enough... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Partly out of fear of repeating the Vietnam experience, the United Stateswent into a sort of containment funk and watched from the sidelines as the Soviet Union opportunistically gathered a set of Third World countries into its imperial embrace: Angola in 1976, Mozambique and Ethiopia in 1977, South Yemen and Afghanistan in 1978, Grenada and Nicaragua in 1979. However, far from whetting their appetite for more, these gains ultimately not only satiated their appetite for expansion but, given the special properties of the morsels they happened to consume, the process served to give the ravenous expanders a troubling case of indigestion. For almost all of the new acquisitions soon became economic and political basket cases, fraught with dissension, financial mismanagement, and civil warfare. In 1979 the situation in neighboring Afghanistan had so deteriorated that the Soviets found it necessary to send in troops, and descended into a long period of enervating warfare there. As each member of the newly expanded empire turned toward the Soviet Union for material support, many Soviets began to wonder about the wisdom of the venture. Perhaps, it began to seem, they would have been better off contained. The internal contradictions the Soviets came to confront, then, were a direct result of misguided domestic and foreign policies, and these contradictions would have to come about as Kennan seems to suggest no matter what policy the West chose to pursue. Soviet domestic problems derived from decades of mismanagement, mindless brutality, and fundamental misconceptions about basic economic and social realities. Their defense dilemmas came from conspiratorial ideology that creates external enemies and then exaggerated the degree to which the enemies would use war to destroy them. Soviet foreign policy failures stemmed from a fundamentally flawed, and often highly romantic,

Decision analysts provide quantitative support for the decision makers in all areas including engineers, analysts in planning offices and public agencies, project managementconsultants, manufacturing process planners, financial and economic analysts and experts supporting medical and technological diagnosis (Tools for Decision Analysis: Analysis of Risky Decisions, 2012). • 17. Positive Effects Of Fracking Fracking is a shorter form of Hydraulic Fracturing which is the extraction process of both natural gas and oil. The process involves drilling deep into the Earth s surface. Fractures are then created by pumping large quantities of fluids at high pressure down a welfare and into the target rock formation (EPA, 2016). After making these openings for the gas or oil to come up (known as flowback ) the materials can be stored. The reason the fracking process occurs is because more usual methods of extraction may not be able to fully reach the deposits of shale gas and oil (2015). Although the process of Fracking seems reasonable because it is something we use in our daily lives for cooking food, heating homes, and amongst other things, the question remains whether it is an actual positive or negative to not only us (not even a question) but to the environment? When looking at the pro side one main reason would be the additional access to gas and oil fracking would give us since many scientists believe we only had a few years left to use fossil fuels before they ran out (2015). I understand the importance in not remaining steadfast with something if it is continually not working, and I also understand the importance of being able to adapt to what does work. When it comes to planning and organizing I do like to stick to the rules before anything else. But as mentioned before, I often deviate from those rules if they do not appear to be producing adequate results. I will have to admit that my Conventional Style of thinking does give me comfort in times of great stress, but I do not see that as a negative practice, but more of a practical application to individual differences. Another one of my thinking styles that I feel highly impacts my managing style in relation to planning and organizing is my Achievement Oriented Style. Although this style was not identified as either my primary or back up thinking styles, I do believe it plays a large role in my effectiveness as a manager. In

Living from 1225 to 1274, he was very influential in the realm of scholasticism and was known as Doctor of the Church . He is a saint of the Catholic Church and is a model teacher for those joining the priesthood. The philosophy of Aquinas has exerted enormous influence on subsequent Christian theology, especially that of the Roman Catholic Church, but also Western philosophy in general. Essentially, things are able to come into existence and they are able to pass out of existence. Since it is possible for things to not exist, then there must have been a point in time where nothing existed. However if nothing existed at one point then nothing would exist even now, since everything that exists requires for its existence something that already existed. Obviously it cannot be claimed that nothing exists now. There must be something in which its existence is necessary. Since most things come and go out of existence, it can be said that there existence is not necessary as life goes on without them. Again it is impossible to have an a series of necessary things go back to infinity there must be something that is necessary in itself. This is God. Fourth, we as beings in the world have characteristics by which we judge to varying degrees. Some people are more or less noble, or true, or good. All of these characteristics have a maximum or perfect version. In that case, there must be something which has set these standards, something that is the most noble or true or good. Aquinas follows Aristotelian teachings in that things that are the greatest in truth are also the greatest in being. There then must be something that is the cause for all these maximums. And that is

Because I only had a limited knowledge on Indians, the book was full of surprising incidents. Moreover, she starts out her story by describing how her Indian friends died in miserable and unjustifiable ways. After reading first few pages, I was able to tell that Indians were mistreated in the same manners as African Americans by whites. The only facts that make it look worse are, Indians got their land stolen and prejudice and inequality for them still exists. Many Indians spend their ADC check on those things because of the given situation they are in. However, not every Indian spends the day boozed and stoned; like people of AIM are trying to fight against the wrong system. She joins AIM where she finds Indians, living their lives to the fullest to fight for their right. AIM changed her life in two big ways; she learned to fight not only for herself but also for her own people and met her husband Leonard Crow Dog. As an AIM person and Indian, she participates in many Indian activities such as BIA take over, the siege at Wounded Knee, and many peyote meetings. She fights against dictator at Pine Ridge, which leads her and AIM people to Wounded Knee where they stayed and fought for 71days. Approximately 9 million children are struggling with Obesity (Gootman, J.A., McGinnis, M., Kraak, V.I., 2006). The rate at which children are being diagnosed with obesity has more than doubled over a span of 25 years form 7% to 18% for children ranging in age from 6 11 years (Ogden CL, Carroll MD, Kit BK, Flegal KM., 2014). In the novel, Pip s life is predestined until he acquires property, showing him the difference between his life and the life he wants to live. Throughout Great Expectations, Charles Dickens emphasizes kindness through friendships with Joe, Biddy, and Herbert by their thoughts and actions to influence Pip in a positive way when confronted with a change of lifestyle. I had never seen anyone then, and I have never seen anyone since, who more strongly expressed to me, in every look and tone, a natural incapacity to do anything secret and mean (138). Dickens uses this sentence to separate Herbert out from all the other characters Pip has met. Herbert shows kindness naturally and easily toward Pip and it comforts him and influences him to reciprocate the gesture back to him and others. Pip admires the separation in Herbert when he says, What a hopeful disposition you have! and Herbert responds by saying, I ought to have for I have not much else. I must acknowledge, by the bye, that the good sense of what I have just said is not my own, but my father s (195). Herbert is kind enough to give credit to the person who gave him what he owns and not to be dependent on those things. The influence of Herbert s kindness on Pip is greatest because he was there when Pip was transitioning from his past life into his new life of money. Pip s kindness is finally seen when he starts to give money to Herbert in chapter 36 of the novel. Herbert teaches him he can be humble and independent, and Pip shows his kindness by giving Herbert the life he dreams

Hills Like White Elephants and Good People When comparing two works of literature it is always best to have a firm understanding of how each author expresses their thoughts and emotions through the stories they tell. In comparing Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants and David Foster Wallace s Good People you get a different sense as to how each author conveys their thoughts of the very difficult and often taboo topic of abortion. Both stories are different in plot, conclusion, and construction, although they share common artistic similarities, including the large use of physical surroundings and metaphors. When comparing and contrasting stories of similar writings it is important to pick up on the subtle literary ways an author is able to convey their thoughts. In Hemingway s Hills like white elephants there are very subtle details that are noticed only when you dissect the reading and look past the text that is written on the page. We are introduced to both the American and the Girl early on in the story. As the story progresses on you begin to notice how different each person is and how that lack of knowledge can be almost child like in nature. The age of either person is never mentioned, although when reading the story you get a strong sense that the American is significantly older than his female counterpart. Her inexperience is first noticed when she begins to ask about alcoholic beverages and how they compare to the taste of licorice (Hemingway 591). Hemingway skillfully applies a vast

After a short period of time, it seemed that there had been some sort of dryness in the church, where people tended to go through the motions and carry on with their everyday lives. The Church of England persecuted other religions being practiced. The people wanted a simpler form of faith and a less structured way of worship. They called themselves the Puritans because they wanted to purify the church. A group that was even more radical called themselves the Separatists because they demanded a completely new congregation. After being persecuted, this group set sail for the new world. Maybe here, they could worship God in the way they pleased. One hundred and two pilgrims boarded the Mayflower, their ticket to a whole new way of life. The ticket was a dangerous one, and the people knew it. They understood that the ticket they held, the voyage to the new world, was a risky one. They knew they were risking their lives as well as their own families. Yet they traveled on, realizing the importance of the freedom they could have to worship the Lord. To them, that was of much more importance than their very lives, showing their commitment to the Lord. Puritans came to the new world in thousands, letting the Bible guide their every step. The Bible was the governing document of the New England colonies. Although, as strong and moral as the Puritan faith was, they too began to make the mistake of the church they were fleeing from. Mortality In Raymond Chandler s The Big Sleep Raymond Chandler, author of the novel the The Big Sleep , was able to obtain the title of his book by how he used the characters to give a comprehensive plot. The title of this novel was a metaphor to speak about death in a more light way and to have a deeper meaning to it as the characters shown in the novel. The question of mortality is seen on every page of this novel, the title itself means death as it talks about a prolonged, deep, almost unending slumber. It alludes to rumination in the last pages of the book about resting the big sleep. The two parts of the process that seem to be questioned the most are the primary system and the use of the electoral college. Both processes seem unfair and outdated. I believe a change to the primary system should happen because most Americans do not get to vote for the candidate they want, the first two states to vote in the primaries are not representative of the population, and voter turnout is very low due to the dates and times they are held. Americans do not always get to vote for the candidate that they want during the primary election. The WPA lead to major improvements in social and cultural aspects, large developments for the state of Kentucky and the effects of the WPA were everlasting and can still be seen today. For starters, the Works Progress Administration can be considered one of the most beneficial actions of the New Deal, due to the wide variety of jobs and opportunities that it offered. Not only did it offer jobs, but it pushed for different parts of federal arts to be established. Public projects allowed for millions of unskilled men, women, and children to be employed and make a living. Although Canada demonstrates genderequality to some degree among the various different cultures it has, however, gender inequality exists among many countries. Gender inequality exits to a varying extent in all societies and differs over time, across social and ethnic groups (Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010). In Saudi Arabia, women s roles and rights can be evaluated by examining the local interpretation of the Islamic laws, through: education, job opportunity, marriage, polygamy and fertility (Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010). Statistics shows that about 30% of Saudi women are illiterates, although, presently, there are more female graduates than males in Saudi Arabia (Mobaraki, Söderfeldt, 2010). This is so, because, some parts of Saudi Arabia (where nonreligious education was regarded as unsuitable for girls) initially opposed the opening of schools for girls ((Mobaraki Söderfeldt, 2010).In addition to that, mixed sex education is not allowed in Saudi Arabia (Mobaraki

  • 41. Donald Trump Is Not Short On Controversy And Criticism Donald Trump By Christian Arca Political Science 1 CRN # 34546 Professor Uranga March 18, 2016 Introduction Donald John Trump is not short on controversy and criticism when it comes to his outspoken persona and views on certain issues. Hence the reasons why I chose to write about Donald Trump. However, to give credit Trump had success of developing businesses such as real estate. A spotlight has been hovering over him for the majority of his years because of his status among society. With his notoriety in his show The Apprentice , he became not only a businessman, but also a celebrity through television. Trump indeed has influences in the entertainment, business and political world which makes him a solid candidate for the 2016 presidential run. His charisma and his ambitious, yet controversial personality is what drove me to choose to write about him. The most significant curiosity that I have, however, is whether a businessman and essentially a celebrity can possibly become president. He already has a large following because of his celebrity notoriety and has influential partners to back him during his campaign. So the momentum that he has going into this presidential election is increasingly become rapid. His celebrity status and his long listed resume of creating businesses, undoubtedly brings political and public attention to his accountability and campaign. Biography Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York.
  • 42. Dunbar s Poem We War The Mask Questions for We Wear the Mask: The mask that is described in this poem is meant to represent the hiding of the emotions and the identity of an individual. It references the idea that in order for one to survive in the world, one must hide their true personality, feelings, and in the context of this poem, their race. The line, [...] debt we pay to human guile, is used to imply the feelings of shame and guilt that come with the deceit one commits when they hide themselves. When a person hides behind a mask, they become unable to truly connect with any other human beings, on the grounds that the negativity linked with the mask often prevents proper interaction, in which emotions are key. In Dunbar s original context of the poem, he uses we, in order to clearly state that the poem is created from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is due to the comparison between the author and dust, but is different from a metaphor due to the use of the word like. The poetic device used in the line, You may cut me with your eyes, can be considered to be an example of personification. The line emphasizes the idea that eyes have the power to physically harm someone or something, while in reality they lack this ability. This attaches a specific human trait or characteristic to something that would not have this trait otherwise. After reading Maya Angelou s poem, Still I Rise, it becomes very clear that Angelou is proud of her race, and finds power from her past, as well as her culture. Throughout the poem, Angelou reiterates the positivity that she associates with being black, and she does so while inciting feelings of great power and inspiration. She will still rise, no matter who, or what, attempts to tear her down. Angelou makes it very clear that she will not be silenced, she will not hide, and most importantly, she will not be ashamed of her race or
  • 43. Architecture Of The Colosseum Once the Colosseum had been built, it seems to have become the model for many, if not most, of those that followed (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 24). The Colosseum stands proudly upon the villainous Emperor Nero s once grand Valley of the Golden House, projecting the munificence of Imperial Roman Architecture. Its ultimate design could be said to be formed through purpose or function. However, this does not do justice to the importance of architecture within Roman society (Thornton and Thornton in Lyes 1999, 2). The functions, whether it be religious or otherwise, of the Colosseumwere irrelevant to the ultimate design of the architecture, as the architectural features contained within the Colosseum s ultimate design created an instant archetype, a marker of Romanness across the empire (Hopkins and Beard 2005, 25). The clever use of the classical orders and faГ§ades, and adaptation of existing Roman architecture of the period allowed the Colosseum to become a model for many subsequent Roman amphitheatres, whilst showing the ingenuity of Roman architecture of the period. The architectural vocabulary of the Colosseum saw the clever use of existing Roman design practices to create a final structure which became a precedent for all Amphitheatres which followed. Thus, highlighting the overriding importance of the aesthetics the ultimate design displayed. The importance of the appearance in the final design s architecture begins with the conventions which were used for
