Introduction: Our class gathered to observe the differences and similarities of life
observable under a microscope. We wanted to study details of each slide to
understand the larger picture of the life that they make up.
Methods and Materials: Our class of twelve was subdivided into six groups of two.
Each group used a light microscope to observe thirteen slides of organic materials
(listed with the appended images). The slides were dyed one or two colors to show
different parts of the organisms or cells. With each slide we started our observations
on 40x magnification and moved up, through 100x, to 400x magnification. After
recording what I saw under the microscopes, I researched what I had seen, and
collected images for comparison, which appear in the appendix.
Observations/Results:
The first slide that my team observed was of Allium root tip in mitosis. Even on the
lowest magnification, cell wells were clear, and nuclei were visible. This visibility
shows how relatively large the cells are. On higher magnification, chromosomes
were visible, and clearly splitting; they were in varying stages of mitosis. Not all cell
walls seemed to have nuclei in them. The duplicating cells were caught in stop
motion. If they could have continued this action they would have created so many

loses his intelligence later on. Although Charlie has lost his I.Q which is his

building blocks namely ethylene and carbon monoxide and then using that to
capture carbon dioxide, an undesirable greenhouse gas which contributes to global
warming, from industrial processes. Currently, liquid amines are used industrially
and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very recyclable,

Ira Hayes was one of the flag raisers captured in the famous picture on Iwo Jima
hill. Ira Hayes was a Pima Indian born in Arizona on the twelfth of January 1932.
Ira dropped out of high school just before going into his junior year. He went on to
join the conservation corps for two months in 1942 ,after this he became a
carpenter. Ira Hayes enlisted in United States the Marine Corps Reserve in
Phoenix Arizona. He was soon assigned to parachute boot camp in Gillespie
Marine Corps Base in San Diego California. On December 2, he joined company B,
3rd Parachute Battalion, division special troops third Marine division, stationed in
California. Ira and his company were sent to Noumea, New Caledonia March
1943. Again, Ira Haye s and his unit was resigned to Company K, 3rd Parachute
Battalion, First Marine Parachute Regiment. They were sent to Vella Lavella to
occupy an island until December 3rd. They pushed north and fought the Japanese
for a full 15 days. Hayes was ordered to return to U.S soil after 11 months of
fighting the enemy. He was then reassigned to Company E, 2nd Battalion, 28th
Marines, 5th marine division in camp Pendleton, California. Hayes was sent to
Hawaii for more combat training, before he made land in Iwo Jima he was sent to
Europe to assist Iin allied efforts. He landed for d day combat, February 19, 1945.
He stayed and fought until the 26 of March. Afterwords he left for again Hawaii,

The Issue Of Affirmative Action
On the contrary, supports of affirmative action feel that this law is still needed in
America to help places of higher education have more diversity which will benefit
companies in the long run and it also helps companies be more diverse and it helps
them thrive. In the past few decades the number of minorities and females in places
of higher education and companies have been rising at a slow rate. During 2012,
the health care industry was suffering from lack of medical personal in the medical
field; however, 16% of the U.S. population is Latino and 14% is African American,
these groups constituted only 9% and 7%, respectively, of the total U.S. medical
school enrollment in 2012 (Graces, paragraph 2). The rate of minorities enrolled
in medical school has been slowly rising over the years. Having minorities and
females in a company helps the company be more diverse while also giving the
company employees that can help the company thrive and be successful. Supporters
feel that this law benefits people who usually would not have a chance of attending
a place of higher education or be a part of a company an equal and fair chance.

benefits places of higher education and companies not discriminate against females

Erik Larson s The Devil
Erik Larson s The Devil in the White City is a historical novel that portrays true
events that occurred during the final years of the Gilded Age. Larson employs his
vast research in order to write a historically accurate book, while filling in the
subjective details all in order to make for an interesting read for the audience.
Although the novel is based on historical facts, the actual goal for Larson is to
portray a sharp contrast between good and evil, and he does this by presenting two
main characters around which the plots of this novel is built. The entire novel shifts
back and forth between Daniel Burnham, the protagonist, and H. H. Holmes, the
antagonist. The book is outlined so that alternating chapters follows distinct plot...
They are both dedicated to building a fair that will better the tarnished reputation
the Chicago gives off to the rest of the country. They seek the help of architects
throughout the country, but the ones in New York in particular are full of pride
and do not want to be associated with Chicago. John Root eventually falls ill and
dies, him being the architectural genius of the project. Burnham reads a
newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his own, and so
pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as
a cheery place full of patriotism for their own city and this pride is what essentially
produces good for the city. While pride may seem to produce good for the city, it
actually causes the people to ignore the bad. This is evident with the story of H. H.
Holmes. He is able to get away with so much in Chicago and pretty much runs a
murder factory in the World Fair Hotel. No one cares enough to investigate it
because Chicago is simply known as the city where one would marvel at how easy
it was to disappear (Larson, 11). This disappearance refers to murderers and
psychopaths like H. H. Holmes, but could also be a reference to the countless victims
that were murdered by him and never found. Another example of preventable evil
being ignored is that of Prendergast, who becomes progressively insane but the few
people that notice it do nothing about it and
