Teaching and Mentoring Experience
Teaching has been a fundamental component of my academic training. Throughout
my doctoral and postdoctoral work at the City University of New York (CUNY), I
have been actively involved in teaching undergraduates and mentoring both high
school and undergraduate research students. I taught General Chemistry (I II)
laboratory courses and recitation sections at Queens College of CUNY for three years
and General Chemistry laboratory courses at the City College of CUNY for one
year. I volunteered as a physical chemistry tutor for undergraduate students from
CUNY. At St. John s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, my recent teaching
assignment included a General Chemistry Laboratory course that also involved ...
Often student oriented teaching provides a relatively convenient platform for active
learning, and I count upon feedback from students to restructure my teaching
methods. I appreciate that the use of technology can breathe new life into the
traditional way of teaching a subject. Based on my interdisciplinary academic
training, I realize that classroom teaching can prepare students to apply knowledge
and skills, gained from studying a specific subject, to a variety of areas. I find it
particularly rewarding that classroom teaching also offers an interactive means for
motivating undergraduate students toward a self teaching process. My teaching and
mentoring experiences have made me realize that a key element of my teaching
process should focus on engaging students in learning by connecting their ideas and
organizing their thoughts on a topic. Relying on my research training, I am striving
to build part of my basic teaching approach that can extend my endeavors to
encourage students toward an independent thinking process. I have recognized that
an efficiently operating teaching method requires an iterative process of adjustment
and revision; there is no ready made recipe or single faceted approach to devise an
effective and rewarding teaching

In this investigation I will be investigating to see whether the concentration ... Show
When performing my experiment I will come across various health and safety
issues. One of them would be spilling acid on my hand. To prevent this I will be
using syringes to measure out the correct amount of HCL. This will prevent any
spillage of HCL. Also another heath and safety risk would be having Na2S2O3 get
into any open cuts I have. To prevent this I will cover all open cuts I have.
Moreover there is a chance that when reacting HCL with Na2S2O3 the gases
produced could get in my eye and cause my eye to become irritant. So to prevent this
I will wear safety goggles so the gases produces can not get into me eyes.
When I conduct my experiment I think that as the concentration of HCL increases.
The time taken for the HCL to react with Na2S2O3 will increase. I think this will
happen because of the collision theory (1) the more collisions in a system, the more
likely combinations of molecules will happen. This helps understand that if we
increase the concentration of HCL then the more likely there will be combination of
molecules hitting each other at a faster rate meaning that if there are more collisions
of molecules this would speed up a reaction by every molar the HCL goes up by.

Throughout the book Tangerine Paul has had many different opinions of Joey. As an
example, he goes from thinking him and Joey are friends, to thinking Joey is
irritating and cocky.

Alcohol abuse can also cause short term effects to the body. Although there are many
different short term effects, the most common happens to be a hangover which is a
group of symptoms experienced by a person after a heavy consumption of alcohol
(Alcoholic 1). Symptoms of a hangover often consist of nausea, fatigue, thirst,
headache, diarrhea, and sensitivity to light and noise. The severity of a hangover
depends on several factors; these factors include the amount of alcoholconsumed, the
level of hydration in the body at the time of alcohol consumption, and disease.
Although hangovers are the most common short term effect, blackouts are also a
short term result of alcohol abuse. Consuming large amounts of alcohol can lead to
temporary amnesia where the person is unable to recall events that occurred after
he or she began drinking. Unfortunately, blackouts can lead to serious
repercussions, especially if the person is engaged in sexual activity during that
time. Blackouts are much more common among social drinkers than previously
assumed and should be viewed as a potential consequence of acute intoxication
regardless of age (National 1). Drinkers who experience blackouts typically drink
too much and too quickly, which causes their blood alcohol levels to rise very
rapidly. Typically, college students are at risk for experiencing a blackout, as an

Upon reading the statement common disorders commonly occur and rare ones rarely
happen , one would assume that the number of generalist physicians and/or physician
assistants is much greater than the number of specialist physicians and/or physician
assistants, and rightfully so; the contrary is actually true. According to a survey done
by the CDC in 2009 2010, the number of generalist physicians per 1 million people
was 26% lower than the number of specialty physicians (Hing Schappert, September
2012). In addition to that statistic, patients visited their general practitioner 30% more
annually than a specialty physician, and general practitioners spent 31 hours or more
per week with their patients than specialty physicians, despite the fact that there are
more specialty physicians than general physicians (Hing Schappert, September 2012).
If the statement were to correlate directly with the statistics, then the statistics would
show that there are in fact more generalist physicians then specialty physicians, but

Another surrealist work of art by Salvador Dali is La Persistencia de la Memoria (fig.
2). It was painted in 1931, and is an oil on canvas. The painting can be found at The
Museum of Modern Art in New York City, NY, with dimensions of 33 x 24.1 cm. La
Persistencia de la Memoria (fig. 2) is Salvador Dali s most famous painting. The oil
painting is set in a desert area with a lake or pond casting off into the background.
The rocks in the background are very sharp but the rest of the background is
smooth. The sky is a gentle blue with yellow tones that blend together. On the left
side of the painting, is a rectangular board or platform with a reflective surface. The

must go through in life and the reflections in the water and platform show how
those mistakes reflect who we are. The dead tree shows that eventually we all will
grow old and die. Lastly, the white figure is Salvador Dali and how his life is slowly
ticking away as well and the eyes are shut because he is reflecting on it in a dream.
The final artwork of Salvador Dali s that exemplifies Surrealism is Portrait de Paul
Eluard (fig. 3). This artwork was painted in 1929 is also an oil on canvas. It can be
found in the Dali Theatre and Museum, Figueres, Spain. The dimensions of Portrait
de Paul Eluard (fig. 3) are 33 x 25 cm. The painting is of a man named Paul Eluard
who was a French poet and one of the founders of Surrealism. Eluard was also Dali

The Church Is A New Covenant
In society today, thousands of churches are gathering at different days and times,
believing in different rituals and gods. These are called universal churches . In the
gospels, we read about Jesus Christ establishing how a church should operate. The
goal of this paper is to discuss what the church is along with what the mission of the
church is. I will use definitions to help explain, Scriptural references, theological
insights, and class notes.
In our notes, Dr. Galdamez defined the church as, the assembly of God s new
covenant people who have been graciously redeemed from sin, death, and the devil

Step one in Vickers book is to understand the problem I am going to follow this
point via its sub steps (Vickers takes each main step of the process and sets it into
smaller more manageable steps) to provide an outline in solving the issue provided.
Understanding the Problem
Before a plan is even in its preliminary stage, we must actually understand the
problem. This is arguably the most important stage of solving an issue as failure to
do so could result in the wrong issue being solved, as exampled in the read it

monster trucks on one wall and sports pictures on another. It is not hard to tell which
room is female and which room is male. Male and female are used in this instance to
define genders. Gender, unlike sex, is a universal guideline upon which individuals
are placed. Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behavior, and activities
that a particular society considers appropriate for men and women. When the
pressure of gender stereotypes is open to debate some say there are prenatal
influences that are gender based. What is obvious is that gender plays a significant ...
Bandura s Social Learning Theory says, human behavior is transmitted, whether
deliberately or inadvertently, largely through exposure to social models (Bandura
1). When a child thinks that a behavior will be punished versus rewarded but
instead is not even acknowledged they will perceive it as a reward. Children
usually continue rewarded behavior to receive more praise. Television is seen as a
super tutor to Bandura, the child will model what they see on television, not
knowing if it is good or bad. For those children whose parents are not good role
models, the television becomes the behavioral role model. If violence and
aggression is viewed on the television, it is more likely that children will engage in
violent and aggressive behavior. While television can model appropriate behavior,
there is a well documented tendency for violence and aggression. Advertisements are
difficult to avoid since they are interwoven in shows and they tend to emphasize
violent and aggressive behavior (Kilinger 13). In the study by Kilinger, Hamilton and
Cantrell they observed children s perceptions of aggressive content, stereotypic sex
role behavior, and appropriateness of television toy commercials (Kilinger, 11). The
results of the study support the notion that there is a gender bias in terms of
