Essay On Harlem Renaissance
Crafting an essay on the Harlem Renaissance can be a challenging yet rewarding task. This
literary and artistic movement that emerged in the 1920s in Harlem, New York, reflects a
complex fusion of cultural, social, and historical elements. Writing about the Harlem Renaissance
requires a deep understanding of the era's sociopolitical climate, the prominent figures who
contributed to the movement, and the impact it had on African American art, literature, and
music.
One of the difficulties lies in distilling the multifaceted nature of the Harlem Renaissance into a
cohesive and insightful essay. You must navigate through the intricate web of influences, such as
the Great Migration, the jazz age, and the struggle for civil rights, while examining the works of
influential figures like Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, and Duke Ellington.
Moreover, addressing the nuances of the Harlem Renaissance involves delving into the tensions
and contradictions within the movement itself. Balancing the celebration of newfound artistic
expression with the challenges faced by the African American community during this period
requires a nuanced approach.
Additionally, an effective essay on the Harlem Renaissance should go beyond mere historical
and cultural analysis. It should explore the lasting impact of the movement on American society
and its role in shaping the ongoing discourse on race, identity, and artistic expression.
In conclusion, while composing an essay on the Harlem Renaissance may pose its challenges, the
process offers an opportunity to engage with a pivotal period in American history and culture.
By navigating through the complexities of this movement, one can gain a deeper understanding
of the rich tapestry of influences that shaped the Harlem Renaissance and its enduring
significance. If you find yourself needing assistance with similar essays or other academic tasks,

My Bacon Cooking Device Was Almost Complete Essay
My bacon cooking device was almost complete. I was missing one key component.
I pondered the design of my Rube Goldberg device as I sat and mollycoddled my
little pet mouse; he was also an important part of this contraption. Why a bacon
cooking gadget? Of course, there were so many more important things I could be
inventing, like curing the various diseases that plagued the world. Simple logic,
bacon runs the world. Everything is better with bacon, except for my bacon. My
bacon was always so burnt, it could be used to write novels or draw great pieces of
art with, nothing more than the proverbial piece of charcoal that even a dog
wouldn t eat. The missing part struck me, literally. My egg timer fell off the shelf
that hung on the wall over my favorite chair as if something had pushed it. It hit me
on the top of my head and fell into my lap. My egg timer was simple; it was the
kind you had to manually flip over to get the sand flowing. I recalled the egg timer
my mother had. It was on a spinning cog, and it turned itself. I could use steam to
turn the timer quicker. Perfect bacon would be mine soon enough! I put the little
mouse back into his cage and hurried over to my mother s to borrow her egg timer. It
was cold and I realized I had been in too big of a hurry to grab my coat on the way
out of the door. My breath was white as it left my body. I was thankful I had
remembered to put my boots on in my haste to get the egg timer from my mother. I

Geographic Information Systems (Gis)
The term Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a term used to refer to a system
installed in a computer capable of manipulating, assembling, displaying and storing
information that has been geographically referenced. Large volumes of data are
mapped, analyzed and modeled using a single database depending on their locations.
In short, the software gives one power to create maps. Information such latitudes,
longitudes, elevations and ZIP codes are fed into the system and the results can be
used to determine whether and climate patterns of different regions (Global
Geographic Information Systems, 2007). Different organizations use GIS generated
data to seek information regarding specific areas of interest they are interested in....

For instance, marketers may use the tool to map demographic information by
displaying and analyzing data. The system is often used for market analysis tool
and it is best beneficial to companies and organizations that cover a large
geographical area and have many workers. GIS is used for general statistical
analyses and its geo coding component is also an important aspect. The GIS is
designed to improve application for all users and its reliability is an attractive
component. Establishing a GIS Model As attractive as the benefits of GIS may
look to an organization, there are a variety of factors that need to be considered
before this is done. Before the system is made, the number of users, GIS data base
and application should be considered. The other key factor that comes in handy is
the size of the geographical area. To add on this, the degree and frequency of use
for each system also varies with its integration into the system. Before setting up a
GIS system, one has to consider its functionality. If a system can run efficiently and
effectively without this system, then it might be of no use incorporating this system
(Somers 1998). The other point to note is the complexity of the GIS in use. The
more complex a system is the more resources it handles at a time. Complex
structures are often associated with complex and large organizations that require a
lot of data feeding and have a lot of resources. For one to ascertain how they want
their system to
The Origin Of Eugenics
EUGENICS
The origin of eugenics is strongly rooted to the emergence of Darwinism in the late
nineteenth century. Eugenics would seek increased stronger, healthy, intelligent
people or specific ethnic or social group to which directly or indirectly promotes non
procreation of those who do not possess these qualities coming to regard their
application as an advantage in saving resources economic for countries. In this sense
it would be related to Malthusianism, the natalist and nationalism. The methods of
eugenics nineteenth and early twentieth century ranged from forced sterilization to
genocide. Modern eugenicists methods focus on prenatal diagnosis and fetal
exploration, genetic counseling, in vitro fertilization and genetic engineering.
Pros And Cons Of Niccolo Machiavelli
There is one name that is synonyms with diabolical, cunning, scheming and
unscrupulous politics, Machiavelli. Niccolo Machiavelli was a brilliant intellect of
the Italian Renaissance. He was a Diplomat and Soldier contrasted with a historian,
poet, and dramatist, which are reflected in his writing. He was a patriotic person that
wanted secure Italy, especially Florence, against all enemies and he understood that
many decisions need to make that will produce the best results. Born to Florentine
nobility in 1400; His early career was as a conducting diplomatic mission for
Florence to other Italian cities, France, and Germany. As a diplomat and soldiers,
he was privy to may atrocities and actions that had both positive and negative
results depending on the situation and how they were implemented. Niccolo
Machiavelli aimed The Prince to show how to build up a principality capable of
expelling foreign interest and restoring the independence of Italy. It was a vivid
portrayal of politics in that day and age. It was originally released in 1513 but was
not widely published and distributed until 1532, five years after Niccolo
Machiavelli death. It has both been praised and criticized at various points in
history on the pros and cons of this thesis of political tactics. William Shakespeare
even used Machiavel to emphasize in Henry VI, how evil GLOUCESTER was:
I can add colors to the chameleon, Change spaces with Proteus for advantages, And
set the murderous Machiavel to school
Many counter views have been published over the years. One of the most
comprehensive was the Anti Machiavelli. An 18th century essay by Frederick the
Great, King of Prussia and patron of Voltaire, stated: Machiavel s advice if
followed uncritically be a prince, may lead to real tragedies in the real world .
Richard Christie and Florence L Geis even developed and named a psychological
test to reflect an aspect of a person s character, the Machiavelli test ( MACH IV:
Machiavellianism Test ). This is to test for one of the Dark Triad Personality , the
others being narcissism and psychopathy. The Oxford English Dictionary described
Machiavellian as duplicitous interpersonal style, a cynical disregard for morality, and

Examples Of Mules In Their Eyes Were Watching God
In Zora Neale Hurston s novel Their Eyes Were Watching God introduced many
symbolic elements; however, the most prominent was mules. Throughout the whole
novel, mules remained a constant besides in her marriage with Tea Cake. Mules first
appear with Janine s Nanny discussing the level of power white and Black people
have, De nigger woman is de muleuh de world.. (pg. 14) The book states that white
men have the power and black males have power over their women. Mules are
known as a dumb animal that is worked hard. Black women didn t have a voice
during this time period and did hard work without complaining. Janie s Nanny is
installing in Janie s mind that she was there to work and not have power in her life
until the death of Joe.

Having a strong navy will increase Russia s might to enforce it will globally.
While Putin is establishing a naval port in Tartus he is also growing the Russian
foot print near Latakia, which has been pivotal in Russia s ability to deploy forces
in Syria for the next half century and perhaps (Nordland 2017). This year Russia has
added a second runway to expand it s ability to add more warplanes and bring
weapons, ammunition, devices and materials and personnel to respond. The United
States has a similar base in Turkey called Incirlik, which has been used for the
invasion into Iraq and Afghanistan. If Russia is able to build up Latakia airbase
they will have the same ability to react to conflicts and expand its military power
in the Middle East to protect the oil and gas assets that Russia owns. When the
Soviet Union collapsed, they lost the strength of the military. Over the years The
United States and NATO have been the leaders in foreign affairs, which has
decreased Russia s economy. Now with Putin in charge, Russia has drastically
altered its foreign policies to bring back Russia former glory. If Russia can get
back on par with the United States, the act of sanctions and being told what laws
they must follow will be nonexistent providing a larger economic base, which will
allow for greater global power. With This power Russia will be able to establish
stronger allies that will counter NATO agendas and be able to regulate global
commerce and trade, which
Therapy Vs Death Row Essay
Every person has a right to live and avoid death row or execution no matter what
wrong doing they did. Yes, people do some extremely atrocious things or
unspeakable things. Nevertheless, things and case files on prisoners can be settled
differently; whether if it s therapy or rehab.
For those who don t know, when a prisoner commits a dreadful act like: Mass murder,
brutalities, the prisoner usually has to face a death sentence or in other words death
row. Death row basically is when the prisoner has to face death for what godawful
act they have enacted.
Many prisoners have died in death row throughout the states in the U.S., it s
unbelievable how prisoners can change and live a better life when facing therapy.
While they have to be forced to be sentenced death with or without a case file. ...

Another way of settling this situation is by 2 years of therapy or rehab. Why would
this method work? Well because it s a much calmer and serene way of changing a
person that has to face death row. It helps them acknowledge on what wrong doings
they have committed. Verbal response is a much better solution than death. We could
all stand as one to stop the killing of others as they have families and are human
beings like you and me.
We can stop the killings of prisoners! We can all do it if we stand up and support
our case! Ladies and gentlemen, we should all stand up and stop this cause in
which it goes against our human right of life. An outcome I have gathered is that no
one should be in a sentence of death or be executed for whatever act they have done
or framed by as everyone is a human being, a
The Color Purple Rhetorical Analysis
Alice Walker may seem the usual type of author that is ordinary in her writing.
Actually, she is not. She uses a different method to make us feel the suspense of the
story with vivid details. You only live life once so why not take advantage of it? In
The Color Purple, Celie s life is the contrary. You may ask why, but there are people
out there who are afraid to speak up. Alice Walkerseemed to portray this novel very
well making it seem realistic. The tone Walker used in the novel seemed
confessional and private towards the only person she could actually tell her feelings
to, God. The author wrote this novel in first person giving it more touch to it making
it seem as if this actually happened in the past of an African American girl.... Show

It is also oblivious that Alice Walker is emphasizing on the idea that the dominant
culture were the white people and some take advantage of the issue against the
weaker people, African American people. In this story, the author makes a point
suggesting that women should speak up and not be afraid since if they do they
can make a changed in the world. Alice Walker is exactly an example of it showing
it in her writing in the book trying to break a barrier against these two races. For
example, when the Mayor asked Sofia if she wanted to be his wife s maid and
Sofia replied with a hell no, he slapped her for giving her that answer to him and
his wife. Knowing her characteristics in the book, we would know she would hit
the Mayor back, which she did and ended up in prison since then. She would be in
there for a long time, and when she got there, they beat her cracking her skull and
ribs, tear her nose loose on one side and blind her from one eye. The policemen did
this to her because of her actions and her skin color. Throughout the first part of
the book, Walker makes Celie seem like a person who does not really know what she
is worth or who she is. After all it is not her to blame since they treated her like a
slave because she as well was black. All she knows is that she does not enjoy her life
and is not even treated like a normal human being.
Alice Walker was African American and also lived in

The Definition of Disciple Essay example
The Definition of Disciple
Discipleship is the core of Christian ethics, especially as the last command of Jesus
(28:19). When I heard the word disciple in childhood Sunday School, I envisioned
an eager, bearded man with dirty robes straining intently towards Jesus, like a child
begging to hear more of a bedtime story. In high school youth group, we talked about
being good disciples by obeying the rules: no kissing, no running, no talking in
church. But as I re read Dietrich Bonhoeffer s stirring, straightforward work, The
Cost of Discipleship as a Lenten devotional, my idea of what a disciple is and does is
crumbling like old paint.
A few extremists, citing Matthew 16:25 as their justification, say that only those in the

Discipleship in Matthew: Building Community
The gospel of Matthew is thought to have been written between 60 85A.C.E for
those within the Jewish community who believe in Christ as the Messiah. Because
the young sect still saw themselves as part of Israel, the persecution they
experienced from fellow Israelites called for decisive action: either reconcile with the
Jewish leaders or separate completely. In response, Matthew writes a narrative
account of Jesus focused on building a solid community still rooted in Jewish heritage,
but distinctly different in practice because of Christ (Koester).
Establishing a new community requires multiple individuals willing to dedicate
themselves to a common identity. Therefore, Matthew s gospel uses the word
disciple or disciples 68 times, more than any other synoptic gospel (Longenecker 4).
The text is mostly the direct words of Christ, revealing what it means to be a disciple
through listening to and obeying Jesus teaching.
In using narrative and didactic styles to convey Jesus story, Matthew not only
shares about the disciples, but seeks to make disciples out of his readers
(Donaldson 44). As an unintended result of my paper, then, the reader may find a
bit of personal challenge in my analysis. While I will refer to the general theme of
discipleship in all of Matthew, I will use the most direct passages Jesus
commissioning of the twelve in chapter 10 and his challenge to Peter in chapter 16 to
illustrate
Comparative Essay of Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm
Not every leader is power hungry. Some leaders are good with power but others
can never get enough. They are never satisfied with how much power they have.
They want more and more, no matter the sacrifice . In William Golding s Lord of
the Flies and George Orwell s Animal Farm, secondary characters, who play the
roles of spokesmen, enforcers, and followers, bolster the power of the leaders, there
by ensuring the leaders success. Firstly, both books contain secondary characters
who play the role of spokesmen and increase their leaders power. In Animal Farm,
the secondary character, Squealer, has a way with words. No matter what the angle,

To finalize, both novels include secondary character that play the role of a
spokesmen in which they use their intellect and persuasive skill to assist their
leader s power. Secondly, secondary characters in both novels play the role of
followers who help their leader in obtaining more power. In Animal Farm, Boxer
represents the hard working and loyal people. Boxer is a inspiration to all the other
animals because of his strength, loyalty, and his never failing cry of I will work
harder (Orwell 49). Plus, Boxer s faith and trust in Napoleon inspires the other
animals to do so as well. In contrast, in Lord of the Flies, the Savages are the
followers of Jack. They are all loyal to Jack but only because they want the food
and protection that the hunters provide. Since Piggy does not have this knowledge
of the truth, he is not able to explain that they only have themselves to fear,
(comma splice) therefore the rest of the boys would have no other need to join the
savages. The boys follow Jack because they fear the beast and Jack promises them
that [his] hunters will protect [them] from the beast (Golding 166). To summarize,
both secondary characters who play the role of the followers, are loyal to their
leaders, but for different reasons yet, still bolster the leaders power. Thirdly, the two
novels secondary characters play the
Anterior Pituitary Gland
The Anterior Pituitary Gland is part of the Endocrine System and secretes six
hormones. The Follicle Stimulation Hormone is a hormone secrete by the Anterior
Pituitary gland that promotes the formation of ova and sperm. It is a peptide that is
produce and stimulates the spermatozoa and regulates the Graafian follicle in
females. Follicle Stimulation Hormoneis a gonadotropin, a glycoprotein polypeptide
hormone. A gonadotropin cell is produced in the anterior pituitary glandthat then
regulates sexual development and reproduction function. The hormone is synthesized
and also regulates pubertal maturation. The production and release of this hormone is
regulated by levels of a number of circulating hormones in the ovaries and testes. This
system is called a hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis. The hypothalamusreleases the
hormone that binds with receptors in the anterior pituitary that stimulates and
synthesis the release. The release is carried in the bloodstream where it binds with
receptors in the testes and ovaries. This system controls the functions of the testes
and ovaries.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nerves in the hypothalamus sense when the levels rise and stop production of
the FSH.As when testosterone levels are low the opposite occurs. This is the
negative feedback so that testosterone remains steady. In women when hormone
levels decline this is also sensed by nerves in the hypothalamus, the cells are
produced and sent to the pituitary gland to release into bloodstream. The
hypothalamus can also tell when there is too much in woman and signals the
pituitary to stop releasing a woman the FSH stimulates the release of an egg from a

Billy Budd Research Paper
In the story of Billy Budd, Sailor by Herman Melville the main themes are justice
and loyalty. Is Billy being sentences to death with just cause? While Billy did commit
mutiny was that his intention? Should Captain Vere serve his king or his conscious?
These questions are tested but ultimately Captain Vere must side with the law and
make an example to the other crew members what mutinous acts are met with. But
the question facing this paper is whether or not Captain Vere was just in his conduct
at trail? To this reader, the answer is yes.
The mutinous act in question is when Billy Budd strikes Claggort, after he has
accused Billy of mutiny, and Billy kills Claggort. The force of the blow was too
strong and Claggort dies instantly. Captain Vere is present for this encounter and
there is no question Billy has struck and killed a superior officer. While this may
have not been his intention, a man is dead because of his actions. Today this would
be considered manslaughter. Manslaughter being defined as when one person causes

The Differences Of The Roman Empire And The Byzantine
Empire
The Byzantine Empire was a vast powerful empire dating from 330 1453. The capital
was Constantinople (modern day Istanbul), first known as Byzantium. To begin with,
the Roman Empire was split up into two halves by Emperor Diocletian in A.D. 285.
The empire was divided into the Western Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman
Empire(The Byzantine Empire). The Eastern Roman Empire was similar to the
Western Roman Empire but had some prime differences. These differences included
language, acceptance of Christianity, and influences from Middle Eastern along with
Greek Culture. During most of the Eastern Roman Empire s existence, it was the
political, military, and financial powerhouse of Europe. When Justinian I(Widely
known as Justinian) became... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that Justinian is a vicious bloodthirsty man, who did not value the lives
of his citizens. Justinian ruled such as Roman emperors Nero and Caligula in the
fact that he was mentally disturbed and unhinged. He ruled parallel to those
emperors because he was bloodthirsty and had no limits to his extreme tyranny. He
recklessly killed all who dissented, and this too he did in the name of piety. For he
did not call it homicide when those who perished happened to be of a belief that
was different from his own. This is another excerpt from the Secret History by
Procopius. It once again shows that Justinian had no limits to what he viewed as
acceptable, ruthlessly murdering all who stood in his way. Justinian had no limits, as
did many Roman emperors. Roman emperors such as Tiberius, Caligula and, Nero.
The last two out of three had an extreme authoritarianism, making the innocent suffer
at any chance they could, such as Justinian. ... So while he was Emperor, the whole
earth ran red with the blood of nearly all the Romans and the barbarians. Such were
the results of the wars throughout the whole Empire. During this time. But the civil
strife in Constantinople and in every other city, if the dead were reckoned, would
total no smaller number of slain than those who perished in the wars, I believe. This

Differences Between The Gospel And Gospel Of John
The writer is almost always accompanied by an audience. This is because the writer
generally utilizes writing as an avenue to expression. An avenue to communicate a
message that was once bottled up in his or her mind. Whether we vocalize it or not,
we seem to write with the purpose and hope of having what we have written be read.
And we must, nonetheless, have an awareness for the particular audience we are
writing to. There are indeed differences in how one would construct a formal essay in
comparison to how one would construct an informal letter to a friend. The content
will vary. The intent and objective will be different depending on who it is written to.
Therefore, in an effort to highlight the differences between the Gospelof Matthew and
the Gospel of John, it is fitting for us to closely examine the disparity between their
audiences and between their instruction and message. In particular, we will explore
the distinction and implications of specific events in both gospels. and in the end, we
hope to expose the variation of these two books and uncover what their differences
tell us and why their differences matter.
If we were to grab a piece of paper, construct a T chart, skim through the Gospel of
Matthew and the Gospel of John, and subsequently jot down the headers for each
chapter in chronological order, we would quickly find dissimilarities between our
two lists. But it is superfluous to even move beyond the first chapter of each book in
pursuit of discovering a
The Argument of Dualism Essay
In my mind, dualism is a more attractive view to take when considering the mind
brain issue. The idea that the mind is a separate entity and that it is independent of
the physical body is the central point of dualism. One reason it appeals to me is
because of my religion, my Catholic upbringing. Introspection is another good reason
why dualism is a little more logical to me than materialism.. It logically explains why
the mind and brain are separate. Also, the divisibility argument raises good points to
allow dualism to appear to be the more attractive idea in my eyes. Dualism claims that
the mind is a distinct nonphysical thing, a complete entity that is independent of any
physical body to which it is temporarily attached.... Show more content on

Sure the brain has the actual chemical processes and functions, but the mind holds
the reasoning behinds actions, and the complex feelings a person has. It is
basically what makes a person who he is, and controls his actions as a person. The
brain only tells the body to carry out these actions. I think that introspection is
another good explanation for dualism being more attractive to me. Introspection
was explained to be a sort of mental state, like when you know you have a desire for
something to eat. If this occurs, one?s mind will tell his brain to make the body get
up and get food to eat. I do not think that the brain is capable of having that feeling
of hunger, there might be a reaction in the brain to the stomach being empty, but I
believe the actual feeling is in the brain. A person has no way of knowing the actual
brain process, it can not be felt. That is an act that can only take place in one?s mind.
The actual wanting of food is going to be happening in the mind, not the brain. I think
my mind is the focal point of desires and other feelings, the brain is just a device
which the mind uses to carry out its wishes. A third argument for dualism is
paranormal phenomena. Mental powers such as telepathy, precognition, telekinesis,
and clairvoyance are all near impossible to explain within the boundaries of the
physical brain. These phenomena reflect the nonphysical and supernatural nature
Per Capita Carbon-Dioxide Emission In The US
In his book, The United States of Excess, Robet L.Paarlberg says, Per capita carbon
dioxide emissions in the United States are roughly twice the average for the rest of
the wealthy world (defined here as the 34 member countries of the Organization
for Economic Co operation and Development, or OECD) (7). Contrasting the
situation with the wealthy world is enough to realize that the USA has a serious
problem of carbon dioxide emission. If we compare the emission with a poor
developing nation like Nepal, the problem is much clearer or, precisely, scary.
CO2 emission in metric tons per capita for the United States in 2005 was close to
20 (Brooks 27). Moreover, in 2013, the measurement for the USA was still 16.4
while that for Nepal was 0.2 ( CO2 Emissions (Metric Tons per Capita) ). The figures
show that the USA emitted 82 times the carbon emitted by Nepal on a per capita
basis. With all the focus towards competing industrially with other wealthy countries,
consequently, the USA has not had enough attention towards the resulting problem
from carbon emission. Instead, this competition has added up to the emission of more
amount of carbon. The difference in technological advancements, education system,
and the people s lifestyles in the two countries is the main reason for the higher per
capita carbon emission in the USA. Undoubtedly, the USA is one of the leading
countries based on technological and industrial advancements in the world. Resource

The Beginning of Our Annual Beach Journeys
I can remember the day clearly as if it were yesterday. The sand covering my feet
was shining brightly with resilient sunlight. The tides crashed gently against the
sand as if caressing it. The wind carried on casually; at times I felt no breeze at all,
as if the wind itself stopped for a second to enjoy the relaxing scene. This day
marked the beginning of our annual familybeach journeys. I was 9 years old and
was overly obsessed with an old raggedy purse made out of old pillow cases and
bed sheets. My mom was a seamstress and I considered myself very lucky growing
up being able to watch her work. Months prior to our summer trip, for Christmas, I
received a pink kid s mini sewing machine. I could feel the enthusiasm bubbling
inside me as I opened my gift. The patchwork on the purse was a display of
creativity on my first fashion accessory. Psychologically, this item brought to me
so much comfort just like my baby brother who was emotionally attached to his
smelly, old blankey. It was the summer of 1996, when we arrived at Malaquite
Beach in Corpus Christi, Texas. There were many other families sitting at the
beach sharing the warm summer day. We began to set up our area by creating
some shade with a wide, heavy beach canopy. My family came prepared with large
coolers full of cold waters and sodas. My sisters and I began applying plenty of
sunblock, meanwhile, my dad and brother in laws fired up the pit. There is nothing
more enjoyable than playing with Frisbee s at the
Bronzino s Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time and Manet s Le...
The two art pieces that I want to write about are Bronzino s Venus, Cupid, Folly, and
Time, Mannerism art, and Manet s Le Dejuner sur l herbe, Realism art. Because these
paintings were born in the periods when there was significant cultural and social
changes, which influenced to their artistic style. The both paintings have nude female
figures on the center of the paintings, but had received different criticism. Bronzino s
Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time is one of the most famous works of art of Bronzino.
The characters in the painting embody the provocative and chaotic Mannerismstyle.
On the other hand, Le Dejuner sur l herbe, get Monet criticized for its obscene
scene, flat perspective and the naked women, which the society didn t approve of. Le
Dejuner sur l herbe have Realism style characterized by muted color palette and
subject matter of ordinary modern life.
Mannerism art, the period of new European art emerged in 1520 to 1600, was a
breakthrough of traditional artistic style of Renaissance, which flourished for
centuries. Artists in this era experienced the death of Raphael Sanzio, the great Italian
artist of the High Renaissance, and sack of Rome, which brought chaos and concern
to people in the period. So, they broke through the classical artistic rule of High
Renaissance. Mannerists didn t practice the rules of Renaissance masters, which they
considered to be completed and thought there was nothing to improve. The new way

Minipigs
All miniature pigs, micro pigs, Viennese potbellied pigs or teacup pigs are a type
of breed that was developed for either medical research or used as a pet. Minipig
has become an acceptable term that is used to distinguish the difference between
livestock swine and smaller breeds such as potbellied pigs or Juliana pigs. Miniature
pigs have become incredibly popular as pets in the United States.
There are at least 14 different pure breeds of miniature pigs, not including mixed
breeds. The 14 pure breeds are juliana, mulefoot hog, Ossabaw island hog, American
guinea hog, kunekune, meishan, yucatan, pot bellied, gottengin mini, and handford
mini swine. Some of these breeds being exotic or rare and others are more common.
These miniature breeds are often bred together to produce the best quality for pets.

Catholic Church In The Quiet Revolution
It is now for the Catholic Church to bend herself to her work with calmness and
generosity. It is for you to observe her with renewed and friendly attention once said
by Pope John XXIII (BrainyQuote). Undoubtedly, the social institution of the Roman
Catholic Church played an important role in developing the identity of Quebec. Even
from the beginning of colonization the Church influenced the politics and policies of
New France through to the Quiet Revolution. Having reached the peak of its
influence and power the Church sought to sacralized or Christianize all aspects of the
French Canadian society. Many movements were established during the period 1896
1960. The French Catholic universities were vastly expanded to accommodate the...

Consequences In The Giver
The book The Giver by Lois Lowry is about a kid name Jonas trying to live in a so

by teaching the reader for every action there is a consequence. Although some
readers may believe that for every actions there s not a consequence, Jonas
experience shows that once Jonas leaves the community he suffers from starvation
and also pain. For everything we do there is a consequence. In the text it says, The
old man smiled. So do I he said. But that choice is not ours. This shows that the
choices he picks is going to have some kind of consequences. In the text it says, And

Rocket History
The history of the rocket dates way back to 400 B.C. One of the first rockets to
successfully break the principles essential to rocket flight was a wooden bird.
Escaping steam propelled the birdwas suspended from some wires. The pigeon used
the action reaction principle, which was not stated as a scientific law until the 17th
century. In 1989 Russian teacher Konstantin Tsiokovsky puts forward the idea of
using rockets for space exploration. Tsiokovsky says liquid propellants would gain
greater range. In 1969 Apollo 11 is the first space flight to land people on the Moon.

First we measured out where the fins would go on the body of the rocket. Next we
made the part of the rocket that would help it fly, i think it s called the motor
mount tube. Afterwards we assembled the thrust rings onto the motor so it would
fit in the body, and put tape around the nose cone. The motor was then placed into
the tube. The fins went on next with some glue, and the launch lug so it can fly
further. All of this was sealed with sealer. The last thing we did was place the

Analysis Of I Miss You Already Essay
Grief is a normal and natural response to a loss, whether it is the loss of life, home,
job, friendship or item. Though we often expect to grieve the death of a family
member or friend, these other significant losses can also cause grief. This paper
will address the loss, grief, and mourning of characters portrayed in the film I miss
you already . The author will discuss how Worden s four tasks of griefare experienced
by these characters and how the mourning process unfolds. Noticeable is
anticipatory grief, sudden grief, prolonged grief as well as normal grief. In addition,
Dr. Elisabeth Kubler Ross five stages of grief are also evident within the story line.
Portrayed as well are Margaret Stroebe and Henk Schut s Dual Process model , which

Outsiders By Howard S. Becker
Outsiders Howard S. Becker 1.When a rule is enforced, the person who is
supposed to have broken it may be seen as a special kind of person, one who
cannot be trusted to live by the rules agreed on by the group. He is regarded as an
outsider. But the person who is thus labeled an outsider may have a different view
of the matter. He may not accept the rule by which he is being judged and may not
regard those who judge him as either component or legitimately entitled to do so.
Hence, a second meaning of the term emerges: the rule breaker may feel his judges
are outsiders. This quote from the book Outsiders by Howard S. Becker gives the
idea that there are social laws, or rules , and when broken you are considered an
outsider. This is shown when Becker, as seen above, says, When a rule is enforced
. What he says also sets up the different points of view. When Becker says, person
who is supposed to have , he means the person who breaks the rule may not
consider it a rule at all or just not think it applies to him, a special kind of person .
Showing how the deviant person sets himself/herself apart from the general public,
this person will not be offended by the people who judge him because he sees the
said judger as an outsider himself. Because the outsiders or said rule breakers can
see the people not breaking the social norms as outsiders too, it sets up a subculture
or a deviant society, where there is mutuality in non conformity. On page one hundred

The Technology Of Smart Medical Technologies
The Internet of Things is a is a term used to describe the interconnectivity of many
devices which are able to dynamically interact with one another, and through the use
of sensors, are able to achieve user programmed goals autonomously or remotely. This
interconnectivity is a relatively recent development that is expanding rapidly as it is
predicted to be the largest device market in the world, by 2019, doubling the
smartphone market (Greenough, 2014). Major developments in the internet of things
can be seen presently in smart medical technologies, smart home systems and
transportsystem advancements; all of which are a result of robotic systems and
sensors. The possibilities that arise from the integration of wirelessconnectivity
between devices are extensive, however the danger associated with reliance on these
products must assess how easily they can be hacked or used maliciously; as an
organisation s security and safety could rely on the IoT system
The field of smart medical technologies has been revolutionised since the
development of remote surgical equipment, and sensors prescribed to patients that
autonomously monitor and alter bodily activity. For example, pacemakers that can
operate over a wireless network have been in use since 2009, and the possibilities of
their usefulness is unchallenged, being able to address any inconsistencies in heart
cycles and alert medical attention where necessary; however, should such a device be
hacked, the outcome could be fatal
Analysis Of Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven
In a world where assimilation is the easiest way to survive, it can be difficult to
maintain two identities. The development of characters is the foundation in which
people use to grow and become successful in their path of life. Oppression, cultural
changes, and pressure to conform to the stereotypical image of success causes
discontent among cultures. Many children have an ideal image of who they want to
be, and often their parents have a conflicting view on who they would like to see
their child become. In the story Two Kinds the Narrator has a rebellious attitude
towards the aspirations of her mother. The amount of pressure placed on her and her
lack of success causes sadness in the main charactersince she was not able to perform
the way her mother wanted. Similarly, the main character from The Lone Rangerand
TontoFistfight in Heaven experiences a feeling of inferiority from the racial
discrimination and lack of financial success in his life. In the story Two Kinds the
Narrator does not want to become the prodigy her mother wishes her to be. The idea
of becoming a famous actor or musician, like Shirly Temple, was a noble idea from
her mother since she only wanted to see her daughter succeed. The pressure she
placed on her daughter to follow her orders and be obedient, however, was not in the
likeness of the daughter s interests. This example is evident when the author s mother
states [There are] Only two kinds of daughters, she shouted in Chinese. Those who
are obedient and those who follow their mind! Only one kind of daughter can live in
this house. (Tan 242) The fight that occurs between the narrator and her mother
causes a sudden shift in tone, which indicates that the mother no longer held the same
high Johnson 2 expectation from her daughter. Throughout the story, the main
character struggles with her identity. The narrator s family was
How Did Johnson Build A New Administration Building
In the summer of 1936 Herbert Johnson was ready to build a new administration
building. He had commissioned a prominent local Architect and was nearly ready to
start construction. However, both Johnson and his general manager Jack Ramsey
were not satisfied with Architect J. Manor Matson s proposed Beaux Arts style
proposal. Although dissatisfied with the proposed building, neither Johnson or any of
his team could come up with suggestions on how to improve the design. At this point
Johnson decided to search for a new Architect. He wanted a beautiful, pure, and
completely American image for his company (1), but even more importantly, he
wanted a place where his employees would be happy to work (1). It was this decision
that not only brought the S.C. Johnson Son company into the 20th century, but also
brought about a second renaissance in the career of Frank Lloyd Wright. In Frank

Johnson meanwhile becomes a man enamored with the Architect who he has hired,
while occasionally having moments of intense doubts brought on by conversations
with other members of his company and the construction team. Lipman makes few
assertions which are not almost immediately followed by a quote or the full text of a
letter. In many ways it feels as though Lipman acts more as an editor than as an
author, merely creating transitions between the quotes, and providing context for
otherwise raw information. This theme is continued through the extensive
illustrations provided throughout the book. Almost every time a detail is discussed
or a construction method described, it is paired with a matching
Hills Like White Elephants Analysis
A Life or Death Decision How difficult is it to make a decision that could potentially
ruin one s life? Ernest Hemingway s explores this question in his short story, Hills
Like White Elephants. The story is a concise conversation between an American man
and a girl. The names of the characters as well as their relationship status remain
unknown. For the entirety of the short story, the characters sit in a train station
perturbed about making a decision on a potential operation of the girl. The man and
the girl go back and forth contesting what they should do about the operation. The
story ends on a cliffhanger, leaving the reader unaware of the girl s final resolution.
In Hemingway s short story, Hills Like White Elephants, his use of symbols,
innuendos, and dialogue create a high level of tension for the man and the girl which
ultimately conveys the difficulty of the decision that the couple must make together.
Throughout the story, the man and the girl drink alcohol to deivert them from
dealing with their problems. Every time the couple gets closer to deciding what to
do about the operation, one of them suggests that they get another beer. In the story,
the man says, I don t want you to do anything that you don t want to do. The girl
answers with Nor that isn t good for me and the man replies Could we have another
beer? (Hemingway 125). The alcohol is their escape from reality. It calms them and
helps them avoid the situation at hand. The alcohol may have

The objective was to determine the value of Planck s constant using LED s. The

the electrons crossing the junction are excited and return to their stable state, usually
the ground state. When returning to the ground state or a lower state from which
they were in, the electron emits light energy which is a high energy photon. The
energy of the photon depends on how many energy states the electron drops. This
particular voltage when the LED just starts to emit light is known as the threshold
voltage. Once the threshold voltage is reached the current may increase but the
voltage across the LED doesn t change significantly.
The energy of the photon emitted can be calculated using the equation
E = hf where h = the Planck s constant f = the frequency of light
From the equation it can be said that the energy emitted has a relationship with planck
s constant and the frequency of emitted radiation.
We can use this equation to work out planck s constant by combining it with another
equation. This equation is
E = QV where Q = the charge (1.6x10 19)
V = threshold voltage
hf=QV
If you plot a graph of voltage against frequency, find the gradient and multiply it by
the charge of an electron (1.6x10 19), you find the value of Planck s constant.

Crimes Involving The Use Of Firearms
Crimes involving the use of firearms consist of around 0.4 percent of all
documented offences in England and Wales, doubling since the mid to late 1990 s
(Povey and Kaiza 2006). This is due to the ever more restrictive legislation and
public policy responses. A small number of high profile firearm homicides have
significantly increased the public s apprehensions about the problem of illegal
firearms. Police, politicians and media reports have illustrated the emergence of a
criminal gunculture , predominantly in the inner city areas of England (Bennett and
Holloway 2004). Comparatively little is known on the other hand, regarding criminal
attitudes towards and within the market in illegal firearms therefore limiting the
progression of policy, policing practice and an understanding of the impact of
firearms legislation (Bryan 2001).
Gun Crime is a general term used when including all circumstances, when firearms
including shotguns, air guns and imitation firearms are illegally utilised (HMIC
2004). This is inclusive of all illegal possession offences whilst no other crime has
been committed. The presence or absence of a gun does not impinge on the
likelihood that crime will be committed (NCIS 2003). Criminals will be able to use
other weapons as opposed to firearms in order to commit crime and accomplish their
negative intention, as the missing presence of firearms does not mean that crimes
involving guns are easily avoided (Hoskin 2011). Gun control and ownership does not
1984 War Is Peace Essay
Through the novel, 1984, George Orwell argues that a society can unite through
nationalism and the opposition of a common enemy. The oligarchy of Oceania is
represented by three ironic slogans in which one is War is Peace . The idea of
believing that war is being waged regularly is one of the ways to keep the peace
among the people. When a war is going on, a community tends to be prioritized. The
prioritization of the community sometimes leads the people to sacrifice something of
their own for the improvement of society. A government that has its people s
devotion allows for the community to be maintained easily, thus keeping the peace.
In the War is Peace chapter from the Emmanuel Goldstein s book, there is text

In the process of eliminating the thought of the people, the Party is able to not
only monitor the human actions, but also restrict what can and can t be thought
of. In order to make sure that these robots stay stable, It is deliberate policy to keep
even the favored groups somewhere near the brink of hardship... (Orwell 196).
The deliberate policy shows that it was intended by the government of Oceania to
keep the citizens, favored groups , near hardship. These hardships, times of
deprivation, are a way for the Party to be the fallback for the people. When citizens
don t know what to do, they look up to Big Brother for encouragement. Hardships
are also times of when people need comfort, and once again the Party is there with
arms wide open to assure that those in need of help are secured. The difficulties of
the people are used as a weapon by the Party. Being the one entity that is looked up
to during times of despair and confusion allows for the loyalty of the people to
strengthen even more so. The brainwashed citizens believe that the Party is the one
true savior and are unified by not only a common enemy but by a common guardian.
Through feeling this affection from the Party the people have a sense of safety and
security which makes them believe even more in the words of Big Brother. As a

Benedick And Claudio In Much Ado About Nothing
In many cases, a pair of foil characters can make reading the best way to spend your
time. In Much Ado About Nothing, William Shakespeare introduces Benedick and
Claudio, two tough soldiers who happen to be ruthless lovers that fall in and out of
love with two mistresses related to the Governor of Messina. In the play, lovetakes
over and ruins relationships; but in the end, these two remain friends and become
married men, which shows that love strengthens friendships also. Benedick and
Claudio are foils to each other in this play to show that love can strongly affect
friendships, negatively and positively. First off, the character Benedick can be
described as desperate and indecisive. Benedick proudly exclaims his love for
Beatrice after being tricked into thinking that Beatrice is madly in love with him by
his friends.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Benedick will do anything to keep his lady, which includes fighting to the death
with his friend. Claudio loses his lover because he believes that Hero cheated on
him. When Benedick and Claudio meet, Benedick lets his love go too far and
attempts to kill Claudio. For instance, Bendick says this to Claudio:
You are a villain. I jest not. I will make it good how you dare, with what you dare,
and when you dare. Do me right, or I will protest your cowardice. You have killed a
sweet lady, and her death shall fall heavy on you. Let me hear from you.
(Shakespeare 86) They remain enemies until Benedick comprehends how happy his
lady has made him, which then steers him to make up with Claudio and remain with
Beatrice. This shows that Benedick and Claudio are different to show how love can

Mean Girls Sociology
Extra Credit Assignment: Mean Girls Mean Girls was a movie released in 2004,
little to be known, it is a popular movie that does an exemplary job in demonstrating
all four sociological perspectives: functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic
interactionism, and feminism. Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan), the main actress, is a
transfer student from Africa to the States. Her entire life, she had been home schooled
until she entered a public high school, having to learn to the social expectation and
norms that she had not been exposed to before. Cady became best of friends with
the out crowd who were Janis, supposedly a lesbian, and Damian, who is portrayed
as homosexual. They introduce the new student to the cliques of the school, where

The queen of the Plastics, Regina George, exhibits the perfect example of conflict
theory. Consensus and conformity are not in her vocabulary. What Regina says or
does, goes. For example, on Wednesday s, we wear pink is one of the many rules
of the Plastics and when Cady was not wearing pink, she was not allowed to sit at
the table during lunch. Karl Marx would label the Plastics as part of the bourgeois
whereas the other groups would be part of the proletariat . Power can go a long
way when it comes to influence and shaping social behavior. One scene in the
movie, Janis goes into the locker room and cuts out two holes in Regina s tank top,
exposing her bra when she puts it on. Immediately after leaving the locker room, all
the girls in the school saw her walking around with it on and with confidence, the
next day almost every single girl cut holes in their shirts to be just like
Edward Muybridge s Photography
It all started in with a photographer named Edward Muybridge. He was a bright
photographer who gained recognition by photographing animals and humans in
movement. He was hired by a rail road baron in 1872 to prove that there is a certain
point in a horse s gallop, when all of the horse s hooves are off the ground. From
his success with this project he went to produce many more movement studies as
he worked at the University of Pennsylvania. Muybridge used a process called
freeze frame to create this study. Freeze frame is used when a single shot is printed
in a frame several times. Muybridge took a shot of the horse during every step of its
movements.
From there in 1892 Emil Reynaud invented the Praxinoscope. This was a theatrical
Zoetrope that had mirrors placed on the inside so that he sequenced drawings that
are inside of the drum reflect of the mirrors like a projector. From there nothing
really big happens until the 1900 s. In 1900, Stuart Blackton creates a prototype of
animation, The Enchanted Drawing . This isn t considered a proper animation
because Blackton can be seen in the film altering the drawings, but Blackton then

Felix was the most popular character and series of this period. 0tto Messmer not

development of animation as an art form. Not since Gertie had a cartoon character

Another great thing about Felix was that unlike Gertie, Felix was a studio character,
which meant audiences could see him again and again, while affording Messmer and
his team the opportunity to explore the possibilities of ongoing character
development in animation. The merchandising of Felix s image was successful and
paved the way for the later marketing of animated
Exploratory Parenting Research
Studies have been conducted and examined whether parent child conflict during the
middle childhood years varied among families and if conflict had an impact on
children s respect towards authority figures. Children s behaviors in parent child
interactions , it has been shown that there is cultural differences in parents
backgrounds and parents behaviors . Authoritarian parenting practices have been
found, in many studies, to be more common among ethnic minorities, while not
showing associated negative child outcomes typically found within American
children raised within same parenting styles. (e.g. Garcia Coll et. Al., 1995). The

(Belsky, 1984: Brooks, 1991; Coleman, Ganong, Clark, Madsen, 1989). Extant
research on culturally diverse parenting is limited by its focus on social issues and is
in comparison of only one ethnic group at a time with Caucasian families. (Taylor,
Chatters, Tucker, Lewis, 1990; Vega, 1990). The purpose of exploratory study in
cultural differences was to determine, when socioeconomic statuses where controlled,
the extent and pattern of unique cultural variations in two parent families. Culture is
operationally defined as membership in one of the primary American ethnic groups
Asian American and American, Caucasian. Asian Americans and Americans
constitute the two major ethnic groups in the united states along with Hispanics.
Using data from the National Survey of Families and Households, this paper reports a
study of cultural variations in parenting of mothers and fathers in two parent families.
Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, and Asian American parents were assessed
in terms of parenting attitudes, parenting behaviors, and parenting
Independence Day Term Papers
Independence Day is a science fiction film in which aliens attack earth in hopes of
exterminating humanity and exploiting our planet s natural resources. Survivors of
the alien attacks are forced to unite and defend their home on july 4th, creating their
own global independence day. While developing an entertaining story about alien
invasion, this movie manages to demonstrate some government topics we studied in
class.
One of the main heroes in the movie, Captain Steven Hiller (played by Will Smith)
is applying to fulfill his dreams of becoming a pilot at NASA. Captain Hiller is a
talented pilot in the U. S. Marine Corps, and helps man the ship that travels to disable
the alien ship shields. While the constitution does not state that congress can approve
funding for a space exploration program, congress power to fund NASA lies within
the implied powers of the constitution. Implied powers, or elastic powers, are not
specifically granted in the constitution but are related to other constitutional power.
So when Hiller is applying NASA he is requesting to work under a government
agency that exists due to the implied powers of the constitution.

The launch is ultimately unsuccessful, and the shields on the alien ships prevent the
missiles from causing damage. However, this scene shows one of the executive
branch s powers in government, the authority to launch nuclear weapons. The
President s power to do this derives from National Command Authority, and the only
possible way to prevent a president from doing this would be mutiny. This
demonstrates the power of the executive branch in government, and the importance of
carefully selecting a leader responsible enough to handle this
The Importance Of The Kumbh Mela
The Kumbh Mela is a diverse pilgrimage of the Hindu faith. A ritual is something
which occurs on the daily for many people. It can be religious, secular or just
something which is done regularly. Rituals no matter what they are, create a
connection to something which allows emotion for the adherant. This multimodal is
solely focused on the Hindu pilgrimage, Kumbh Mela, the purpose it offers to
adherants, the key beliefs and religious identity that connect adherants to it, lived
experiences of past attendees and formal teachings. The Kumbh Mela pilgrimage is
significant to adherants as it plays an important role in the Hindu faith and it
influences adherents with religious traditions by assisting them to transition into
living out the core values / traditions thoroughly. The Kumbh Mela is a pilgrimage
which offers many rituals to religiously or spiritually inclined and non religiously
inclined individuals, while maintaining the lived experiences for some. There are
many reasons why adherants attend the Kumbh mela. The main reason is to cleanse
their s and their ancestors past sins. They do this by bathing in the river ganges.
The Kumbh Mela occurs once every 12 years in Ujjain, India. It is the largest
spiritual and religious gathering in the world with usually between 80 120 million
attendees. The pilgrimage runs for 55 days and there are different bathing times for
certain groups of people. Once the adherant has bathed in the river ganges, they have

Positive influence of Hippies on Canadian society in the 1960s.
Natasha Kelbas, Ms. Van Hatten

Hippies are the real activists of freedom who love each other in a positive way. The
word hippies generally invoke sterotypes that involves drugs, sex and bare feet.
Though it is true that many hippies did practice these sterotypes, they were people
who fought for rights and freedom without violence. They gave up the traditional
morals and values to promote new values that were about freedom of experssion and
loving each other. After getting the attention, they expressed their needs, hopes and
wants in a piercing yet nonviolent way. The hippies made great, positive changes to

The second wave of feminism was the movement of the view of females in society
the birth control, and divorce. There is controversy on how women are viewed in
society. Some believe that they are the left hand to everything. But no sooner had we
started some small events, than some hippie look alike would begin distributing fliers
promoting some leftist cause. [4] Women were however very involved with the
hippie movement. The anti Vietnam movement of the hippies in Canada got women
active politically, and these radicalized women noticed that there is so much more
they can expand in.[5] The freedom over a woman s body was very limited up
until the government leaglised the birth control pill. Women were able to speak out
about their sexuality and be happy with the freedom they gained with the pill.[6] In
the video one of the women, looks like a hippie because of her loose carefree
hairstyle, and the beads that she wore. Compared to the other women who were very
neat and elegant, this new type of female stands out as a hippie and therefore making
hippies a positive enforcement of the introduction of the birth control pill.
Flower power was another name for hippies and their sense of style which was
carefree, down to earth and colourful. The carefree attitude was because hippies cared

they have a goose instead of a turkey, they have a dying son, and they are poor. If
even through the roughest times this family can stay happy, then Scrooge should

whole adventure whether he could still change the person he was. The Ghost of
Christmas Yet to Come brought him to different places, all of them relating to a dead
man Scrooge had seen earlier. The ghost
Steering Clear of Allergic Reactions (Food Allergies)
Steering Clear of Allergic Reactions (Food Allergies)
Food allergy is a prevalent health condition wherein the body mistakenly identifies
certain foods as harmful. According to the Food Allergy Research and Education or
FARE, approximately 15 million Americans have food allergies and the numbers are
continuously rising. Steering clear of foods that can trigger allergic reaction can be
tough, thus it is important to educate yourself on what causes the allergy and how to
avoid them. Following are several tips that can help avoid mild to life threatening
allergic reactions:
Know the allergens
There are numerous foods that can cause allergic reactions, however, 90% of all
recorded food allergies are because of eggs, milk, fish, crustacean ... Show more

It is best to consult a doctor or an allergist in planning, so you will be able to
consider all likely allergic reactions and what should be done in an emergency
situation. A good allergy action plan includes when to take the medication, when to
increase medication, and when is it necessary to call a doctor. Wearing a medical
bracelet or necklace is also important, especially if you re going out. This will help
responders to quickly identify your condition and history during an emergency.
Cook your own food instead of dining out
Eating out can be risky for a person with food allergies since most restaurants and
food chains don t usually provide detailed ingredients lists for the food they served.
Food preparation is also done in an open kitchen, wherein cross contact and
contamination usually happens. The best way to avoid an allergic reaction is to
cook your own food instead of dining out. Try to enroll in cooking classes to learn a
variety of dishes and to learn more about local and fresh ingredients.
Bring your own meals
There are certain times that bringing your own food is much safer than risking your
life in eating food prepared by other people. There are some establishments or events
that don t offer allergy safe food, thus it is best that you re ready when such situation
arises.
Keep medications on hand
Always have allergy medications on hand at all times, like antihistamine or
epinephrine injector. These medications
As An Audience That Enjoys Media Entertainment, We Find
As an audience that enjoys media entertainment, we find ourselves glued to the
television every year to see what commercials will appear during the Super Bowl.
Last year s Super Bowl featured various commercials that target particular audiences
requiring a great deal of planning and meticulous execution. Thus, audiences that
enjoy these commercials become part of more than just the game; they are given an
opportunity to become part of a bigger picture by analyzing what message the
composer is attempting to persuade to the public. As I reflect on these commercials, I

By utilizing the The Blue Link Car Finder (knmilke, par. 1), the father tracked his
vehicle and interjected himself into the picture; interfering with his daughter s date
and intimidating the young man. From a parent s perspective, I perceived the
message to be about keeping your children out of harm s way. If Hyundai s
commercial is successful, it will entice parents to buy the car so that they will know
where their children are and if they are safe.
For this commercial, the target audience is parents. The Hyundai commercial uses
comedy to show parents how a car finder is a great tool for parents to know the
whereabouts of their young teens. It will give them a sense of security when their
children are out and about with friends or on dates. It could also help find the car if
it is stolen.
While the message and target audience seem clear, there are a few additional
things that you can make assumptions about. At the beginning of the commercial:
the boy s eyes get big as he is looking at the daughter, indicating that he feels like he
hit the jackpot; when the father comes from behind the door, the boy turns his head
and says YEP, indicating that he has no respect for the father or where he lives;
also, you hear a wolf howl indicating that the young man is a predator looking for an
easy score. An additional assumption that can be made about the wolf howling leads
you to believe that maybe the

Ties to Holden s Problems I felt like jumping out the window. I probably would ve,

complex character with mixed emotions about everything; many times contradicting
his own thoughts and beliefs. Holden s struggles are due to the lack of parental

problem for Holden because he is never able to connect with her in anyway. He
spends the evening talking to her about all of his problems. He pays her the money
but she demands more, this ultimately ends up with Holden getting hurt by her pimp.
Another troublesome situation occurs when Holden becomes friends with a stranger

The boy s name is Earnest and he has a reputation at Pency Prep of being unpopular

mother that her son is the most popular student in school. To Earnest s mother
Holden introduces himself as Rudolph, giving her the name of the janitor at school,
and lies further about his reasoning for leaving Pency Prep early stating he has a
tumor. This situation is detrimental for Holden because he continues to live his life

Unknown Rate Law Equation Lab Report
The purpose of this lab is to calculate the overall order of an unknown rate law
equation. The lab is also performed to create the rate law of the equation. This is done
through varying the amount and concentration of the reactants in the equation. These
two variables can have a drastic impact on the speed that the reaction develops at It
also does this by varying the dependence of the reactants throughout the trials. The
order of the equation is found by finding the correlation between the concentration of
the reactants and the reaction rate. Determining this makes it clear which reactants
affect the speed at which the reaction develops: whether they have no effect, slow the
reaction down, or speed it up. From this experimental data... Show more content on

The concerns and problems of the people living in nineteenth century England
differed dramatically from those that eventually challenged those living in the same
place during the 20th century. During the nineteenth century the English were
plagued with many epidemics, but lacked the knowledge and capability to
successfully treat and eliminate these diseases. London, like other British cities, had

Further, they questioned whether a common strand was responsible for the fever
which accompanied all of the diseases. In attempting to answer these questions the
physicians of the period examined such factors as: (1) dependence upon certain
atmospheric conditions; (2) obedience to similar laws of diffusion; (3) all infesting
the same localities; (4) all attacking the same classes of people; and (5)all increased
in severity in unsanitary conditions. (Pelling, 64).
The General Board of Health of London produced a report on cholera in 1850. The
primary purpose of the report was to indicate that the pattern of the epidemic had
confirmed the predilations of the metropolitan sanitary commissioners. That is, that
cholera could be prevented if closer attention was paid to sanitary conditions.
Specifically, if problems such as overcrowded living conditions, filth, dampness,
dirty water, drain pipes in poor condition, and improper storage and preparation of
food were addressed. (Pelling, 78).
In order to understand the epidemics which dominated the nineteenth century one
must listen to the voices of the time. These voices speak of factory workers being
forced to work incredibly long hours in filthy conditions for very little money, several
families living together in one room apartments with no running water.
Essay On Modern Day Animal Farm
How Is Islamic State a Modern Day Animal Farm?
Although alluding to a completely different nation in a different time period,
George Orwell s animals in Animal Farm also have their similarities with ISIS, a

ISIS s leader are very similar, they use a certain ideology to make people believe what

Essay On Harlem Renaissance. What was the Harlem Renaissance? - Free Essay Example PapersOwl.com

  • 1. Essay On Harlem Renaissance Crafting an essay on the Harlem Renaissance can be a challenging yet rewarding task. This literary and artistic movement that emerged in the 1920s in Harlem, New York, reflects a complex fusion of cultural, social, and historical elements. Writing about the Harlem Renaissance requires a deep understanding of the era's sociopolitical climate, the prominent figures who contributed to the movement, and the impact it had on African American art, literature, and music. One of the difficulties lies in distilling the multifaceted nature of the Harlem Renaissance into a cohesive and insightful essay. You must navigate through the intricate web of influences, such as the Great Migration, the jazz age, and the struggle for civil rights, while examining the works of influential figures like Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, and Duke Ellington. Moreover, addressing the nuances of the Harlem Renaissance involves delving into the tensions and contradictions within the movement itself. Balancing the celebration of newfound artistic expression with the challenges faced by the African American community during this period requires a nuanced approach. Additionally, an effective essay on the Harlem Renaissance should go beyond mere historical and cultural analysis. It should explore the lasting impact of the movement on American society and its role in shaping the ongoing discourse on race, identity, and artistic expression. In conclusion, while composing an essay on the Harlem Renaissance may pose its challenges, the process offers an opportunity to engage with a pivotal period in American history and culture. • 4. My Bacon Cooking Device Was Almost Complete Essay My bacon cooking device was almost complete. I was missing one key component. I pondered the design of my Rube Goldberg device as I sat and mollycoddled my little pet mouse; he was also an important part of this contraption. Why a bacon cooking gadget? Of course, there were so many more important things I could be inventing, like curing the various diseases that plagued the world. Simple logic, bacon runs the world. Everything is better with bacon, except for my bacon. My bacon was always so burnt, it could be used to write novels or draw great pieces of art with, nothing more than the proverbial piece of charcoal that even a dog wouldn t eat. The missing part struck me, literally. My egg timer fell off the shelf that hung on the wall over my favorite chair as if something had pushed it. It hit me on the top of my head and fell into my lap. My egg timer was simple; it was the kind you had to manually flip over to get the sand flowing. I recalled the egg timer my mother had. It was on a spinning cog, and it turned itself. I could use steam to turn the timer quicker. Perfect bacon would be mine soon enough! I put the little mouse back into his cage and hurried over to my mother s to borrow her egg timer. It was cold and I realized I had been in too big of a hurry to grab my coat on the way out of the door. My breath was white as it left my body. I was thankful I had remembered to put my boots on in my haste to get the egg timer from my mother. I decided to
  • 5. Geographic Information Systems (Gis) The term Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a term used to refer to a system installed in a computer capable of manipulating, assembling, displaying and storing information that has been geographically referenced. Large volumes of data are mapped, analyzed and modeled using a single database depending on their locations. In short, the software gives one power to create maps. Information such latitudes, longitudes, elevations and ZIP codes are fed into the system and the results can be used to determine whether and climate patterns of different regions (Global Geographic Information Systems, 2007). Different organizations use GIS generated data to seek information regarding specific areas of interest they are interested in.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, marketers may use the tool to map demographic information by displaying and analyzing data. The system is often used for market analysis tool and it is best beneficial to companies and organizations that cover a large geographical area and have many workers. GIS is used for general statistical analyses and its geo coding component is also an important aspect. The GIS is designed to improve application for all users and its reliability is an attractive component. Establishing a GIS Model As attractive as the benefits of GIS may look to an organization, there are a variety of factors that need to be considered before this is done. Before the system is made, the number of users, GIS data base and application should be considered. The other key factor that comes in handy is the size of the geographical area. To add on this, the degree and frequency of use for each system also varies with its integration into the system. Before setting up a GIS system, one has to consider its functionality. If a system can run efficiently and effectively without this system, then it might be of no use incorporating this system (Somers 1998). The other point to note is the complexity of the GIS in use. The more complex a system is the more resources it handles at a time. Complex structures are often associated with complex and large organizations that require a lot of data feeding and have a lot of resources. For one to ascertain how they want their system to

For those who don t know, when a prisoner commits a dreadful act like: Mass murder, brutalities, the prisoner usually has to face a death sentence or in other words death row. Why would this method work? Well because it s a much calmer and serene way of changing a person that has to face death row. It helps them acknowledge on what wrong doings they have committed. Verbal response is a much better solution than death. We could all stand as one to stop the killing of others as they have families and are human beings like you and me. We can stop the killings of prisoners! We can all do it if we stand up and support our case! Ladies and gentlemen, we should all stand up and stop this cause in which it goes against our human right of life. An outcome I have gathered is that no one should be in a sentence of death or be executed for whatever act they have done or framed by as everyone is a human being, a

She uses a different method to make us feel the suspense of the story with vivid details. You only live life once so why not take advantage of it? In The Color Purple, Celie s life is the contrary. You may ask why, but there are people out there who are afraid to speak up. Alice Walkerseemed to portray this novel very well making it seem realistic. The tone Walker used in the novel seemed confessional and private towards the only person she could actually tell her feelings to, God. It is also oblivious that Alice Walker is emphasizing on the idea that the dominant culture were the white people and some take advantage of the issue against the weaker people, African American people. In this story, the author makes a point suggesting that women should speak up and not be afraid since if they do they can make a changed in the world. Alice Walker is exactly an example of it showing it in her writing in the book trying to break a barrier against these two races. For example, when the Mayor asked Sofia if she wanted to be his wife s maid and Sofia replied with a hell no, he slapped her for giving her that answer to him and his wife. Knowing her characteristics in the book, we would know she would hit the Mayor back, which she did and ended up in prison since then. She would be in there for a long time, and when she got there, they beat her cracking her skull and ribs, tear her nose loose on one side and blind her from one eye. The policemen did this to her because of her actions and her skin color. Throughout the first part of the book, Walker makes Celie seem like a person who does not really know what she is worth or who she is. After all it is not her to blame since they treated her like a slave because she as well was black. All she knows is that she does not enjoy her life and is not even treated like a normal human being. Alice Walker was African American and also lived in

  • 13. The Definition of Disciple Essay example The Definition of Disciple Discipleship is the core of Christian ethics, especially as the last command of Jesus (28:19). When I heard the word disciple in childhood Sunday School, I envisioned an eager, bearded man with dirty robes straining intently towards Jesus, like a child begging to hear more of a bedtime story. In high school youth group, we talked about being good disciples by obeying the rules: no kissing, no running, no talking in church. But as I re read Dietrich Bonhoeffer s stirring, straightforward work, The Cost of Discipleship as a Lenten devotional, my idea of what a disciple is and does is crumbling like old paint. Discipleship in Matthew: Building Community The gospel of Matthew is thought to have been written between 60 85A.C.E for those within the Jewish community who believe in Christ as the Messiah. Because the young sect still saw themselves as part of Israel, the persecution they experienced from fellow Israelites called for decisive action: either reconcile with the Jewish leaders or separate completely. In response, Matthew writes a narrative account of Jesus focused on building a solid community still rooted in Jewish heritage, but distinctly different in practice because of Christ (Koester). Establishing a new community requires multiple individuals willing to dedicate themselves to a common identity. Therefore, Matthew s gospel uses the word disciple or disciples 68 times, more than any other synoptic gospel (Longenecker 4). The text is mostly the direct words of Christ, revealing what it means to be a disciple through listening to and obeying Jesus teaching. In using narrative and didactic styles to convey Jesus story, Matthew not only shares about the disciples, but seeks to make disciples out of his readers (Donaldson 44). As an unintended result of my paper, then, the reader may find a bit of personal challenge in my analysis. While I will refer to the general theme of discipleship in all of Matthew, I will use the most direct passages Jesus commissioning of the twelve in chapter 10 and his challenge to Peter in chapter 16 to illustrate

The Eastern Roman Empire was similar to the Western Roman Empire but had some prime differences. For he did not call it homicide when those who perished happened to be of a belief that was different from his own. This is another excerpt from the Secret History by Procopius. It once again shows that Justinian had no limits to what he viewed as acceptable, ruthlessly murdering all who stood in his way. Justinian had no limits, as did many Roman emperors. • 19. Differences Between The Gospel And Gospel Of John The writer is almost always accompanied by an audience. This is because the writer generally utilizes writing as an avenue to expression. An avenue to communicate a message that was once bottled up in his or her mind. Whether we vocalize it or not, we seem to write with the purpose and hope of having what we have written be read. And we must, nonetheless, have an awareness for the particular audience we are writing to. There are indeed differences in how one would construct a formal essay in comparison to how one would construct an informal letter to a friend. The content will vary. The intent and objective will be different depending on who it is written to. Therefore, in an effort to highlight the differences between the Gospelof Matthew and the Gospel of John, it is fitting for us to closely examine the disparity between their audiences and between their instruction and message. In particular, we will explore the distinction and implications of specific events in both gospels. and in the end, we hope to expose the variation of these two books and uncover what their differences tell us and why their differences matter. If we were to grab a piece of paper, construct a T chart, skim through the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of John, and subsequently jot down the headers for each chapter in chronological order, we would quickly find dissimilarities between our two lists. But it is superfluous to even move beyond the first chapter of each book in pursuit of discovering a
  • 20. The Argument of Dualism Essay In my mind, dualism is a more attractive view to take when considering the mind brain issue. The idea that the mind is a separate entity and that it is independent of the physical body is the central point of dualism. One reason it appeals to me is because of my religion, my Catholic upbringing. Introspection is another good reason why dualism is a little more logical to me than materialism.. It logically explains why the mind and brain are separate. Also, the divisibility argument raises good points to allow dualism to appear to be the more attractive idea in my eyes. Dualism claims that the mind is a distinct nonphysical thing, a complete entity that is independent of any physical body to which it is temporarily attached.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sure the brain has the actual chemical processes and functions, but the mind holds the reasoning behinds actions, and the complex feelings a person has. It is basically what makes a person who he is, and controls his actions as a person. The brain only tells the body to carry out these actions. I think that introspection is another good explanation for dualism being more attractive to me. Introspection was explained to be a sort of mental state, like when you know you have a desire for something to eat. If this occurs, one?s mind will tell his brain to make the body get up and get food to eat. I do not think that the brain is capable of having that feeling of hunger, there might be a reaction in the brain to the stomach being empty, but I believe the actual feeling is in the brain. A person has no way of knowing the actual brain process, it can not be felt. That is an act that can only take place in one?s mind. The actual wanting of food is going to be happening in the mind, not the brain. I think my mind is the focal point of desires and other feelings, the brain is just a device which the mind uses to carry out its wishes. A third argument for dualism is paranormal phenomena. Mental powers such as telepathy, precognition, telekinesis, and clairvoyance are all near impossible to explain within the boundaries of the physical brain. These phenomena reflect the nonphysical and supernatural nature

Contrasting the situation with the wealthy world is enough to realize that the USA has a serious problem of carbon dioxide emission. If we compare the emission with a poor developing nation like Nepal, the problem is much clearer or, precisely, scary. CO2 emission in metric tons per capita for the United States in 2005 was close to 20 (Brooks 27). Moreover, in 2013, the measurement for the USA was still 16.4 while that for Nepal was 0.2 ( CO2 Emissions (Metric Tons per Capita) ). Escaping steam propelled the birdwas suspended from some wires. The pigeon used the action reaction principle, which was not stated as a scientific law until the 17th century. In 1989 Russian teacher Konstantin Tsiokovsky puts forward the idea of using rockets for space exploration. Tsiokovsky says liquid propellants would gain greater range. In 1969 Apollo 11 is the first space flight to land people on the Moon. Neil Armstrong is the first astronaut to set foot on the Moon. 12 astronauts walk on the Moon during 6 missions. The fins went on next with some glue, and the launch lug so it can fly further. All of this was sealed with sealer. The last thing we did was place the wadding, and the parachute in the body, and we were good to go. Painted it all nice, and neatly. • 30. Analysis Of I Miss You Already Essay Grief is a normal and natural response to a loss, whether it is the loss of life, home, job, friendship or item. Though we often expect to grieve the death of a family member or friend, these other significant losses can also cause grief. This paper will address the loss, grief, and mourning of characters portrayed in the film I miss you already . The author will discuss how Worden s four tasks of griefare experienced by these characters and how the mourning process unfolds. Noticeable is anticipatory grief, sudden grief, prolonged grief as well as normal grief. In addition, Dr. Elisabeth Kubler Ross five stages of grief are also evident within the story line. Portrayed as well are Margaret Stroebe and Henk Schut s Dual Process model , which is quite similar to Worden s four tasks. Becker 1.When a rule is enforced, the person who is supposed to have broken it may be seen as a special kind of person, one who cannot be trusted to live by the rules agreed on by the group. He is regarded as an outsider. But the person who is thus labeled an outsider may have a different view of the matter. He may not accept the rule by which he is being judged and may not regard those who judge him as either component or legitimately entitled to do so. Hence, a second meaning of the term emerges: the rule breaker may feel his judges are outsiders. This quote from the book Outsiders by Howard S. Becker gives the idea that there are social laws, or rules , and when broken you are considered an outsider. This is shown when Becker, as seen above, says, When a rule is enforced . What he says also sets up the different points of view. When Becker says, person who is supposed to have , he means the person who breaks the rule may not consider it a rule at all or just not think it applies to him, a special kind of person . Showing how the deviant person sets himself/herself apart from the general public, this person will not be offended by the people who judge him because he sees the said judger as an outsider himself. Because the outsiders or said rule breakers can see the people not breaking the social norms as outsiders too, it sets up a subculture or a deviant society, where there is mutuality in non conformity. The Technology Of Smart Medical Technologies The Internet of Things is a is a term used to describe the interconnectivity of many devices which are able to dynamically interact with one another, and through the use of sensors, are able to achieve user programmed goals autonomously or remotely. This interconnectivity is a relatively recent development that is expanding rapidly as it is predicted to be the largest device market in the world, by 2019, doubling the smartphone market (Greenough, 2014). Major developments in the internet of things can be seen presently in smart medical technologies, smart home systems and transportsystem advancements; all of which are a result of robotic systems and sensors. The possibilities that arise from the integration of wirelessconnectivity between devices are extensive, however the danger associated with reliance on these products must assess how easily they can be hacked or used maliciously; as an organisation s security and safety could rely on the IoT system The field of smart medical technologies has been revolutionised since the development of remote surgical equipment, and sensors prescribed to patients that autonomously monitor and alter bodily activity. For example, pacemakers that can operate over a wireless network have been in use since 2009, and the possibilities of their usefulness is unchallenged, being able to address any inconsistencies in heart cycles and alert medical attention where necessary; however, should such a device be hacked, the outcome could be fatal

The development of characters is the foundation in which people use to grow and become successful in their path of life. Oppression, cultural changes, and pressure to conform to the stereotypical image of success causes discontent among cultures. Many children have an ideal image of who they want to be, and often their parents have a conflicting view on who they would like to see their child become. In the story Two Kinds the Narrator has a rebellious attitude towards the aspirations of her mother. The amount of pressure placed on her and her lack of success causes sadness in the main charactersince she was not able to perform the way her mother wanted. Similarly, the main character from The Lone Rangerand TontoFistfight in Heaven experiences a feeling of inferiority from the racial discrimination and lack of financial success in his life. In the story Two Kinds the Narrator does not want to become the prodigy her mother wishes her to be. The idea of becoming a famous actor or musician, like Shirly Temple, was a noble idea from her mother since she only wanted to see her daughter succeed. The pressure she placed on her daughter to follow her orders and be obedient, however, was not in the likeness of the daughter s interests. This example is evident when the author s mother states [There are] Only two kinds of daughters, she shouted in Chinese. Those who are obedient and those who follow their mind! Ernest Hemingway s explores this question in his short story, Hills Like White Elephants. The story is a concise conversation between an American man and a girl. The names of the characters as well as their relationship status remain unknown. For the entirety of the short story, the characters sit in a train station perturbed about making a decision on a potential operation of the girl. The man and the girl go back and forth contesting what they should do about the operation. The story ends on a cliffhanger, leaving the reader unaware of the girl s final resolution. In Hemingway s short story, Hills Like White Elephants, his use of symbols, innuendos, and dialogue create a high level of tension for the man and the girl which ultimately conveys the difficulty of the decision that the couple must make together. When returning to the ground state or a lower state from which they were in, the electron emits light energy which is a high energy photon. The energy of the photon depends on how many energy states the electron drops. This particular voltage when the LED just starts to emit light is known as the threshold voltage. Once the threshold voltage is reached the current may increase but the voltage across the LED doesn t change significantly. The energy of the photon emitted can be calculated using the equation E = hf where h = the Planck s constant f = the frequency of light From the equation it can be said that the energy emitted has a relationship with planck s constant and the frequency of emitted radiation. We can use this equation to work out planck s constant by combining it with another equation. This equation is E = QV where Q = the charge (1.6x10 19) V = threshold voltage hf=QV If you plot a graph of voltage against frequency, find the gradient and multiply it by the charge of an electron (1.6x10 19), you find the value of Planck s constant. This is due to the ever more restrictive legislation and public policy responses. A small number of high profile firearm homicides have significantly increased the public s apprehensions about the problem of illegal firearms. Police, politicians and media reports have illustrated the emergence of a criminal gunculture , predominantly in the inner city areas of England (Bennett and Holloway 2004). This is inclusive of all illegal possession offences whilst no other crime has been committed. The presence or absence of a gun does not impinge on the likelihood that crime will be committed (NCIS 2003). Try to enroll in cooking classes to learn a variety of dishes and to learn more about local and fresh ingredients. Bring your own meals There are certain times that bringing your own food is much safer than risking your life in eating food prepared by other people. There are some establishments or events that don t offer allergy safe food, thus it is best that you re ready when such situation arises. Keep medications on hand Always have allergy medications on hand at all times, like antihistamine or epinephrine injector. These medications

From a parent s perspective, I perceived the message to be about keeping your children out of harm s way. If Hyundai s commercial is successful, it will entice parents to buy the car so that they will know where their children are and if they are safe. For this commercial, the target audience is parents. The Hyundai commercial uses comedy to show parents how a car finder is a great tool for parents to know the whereabouts of their young teens. It will give them a sense of security when their children are out and about with friends or on dates. It could also help find the car if it is stolen. An additional assumption that can be made about the wolf howling leads you to believe that maybe the

The lab is also performed to create the rate law of the equation. This is done through varying the amount and concentration of the reactants in the equation. These two variables can have a drastic impact on the speed that the reaction develops at It also does this by varying the dependence of the reactants throughout the trials. The order of the equation is found by finding the correlation between the concentration of the reactants and the reaction rate. Determining this makes it clear which reactants affect the speed at which the reaction develops: whether they have no effect, slow the reaction down, or speed it up. From this experimental data... Further, they questioned whether a common strand was responsible for the fever which accompanied all of the diseases. In attempting to answer these questions the physicians of the period examined such factors as: (1) dependence upon certain atmospheric conditions; (2) obedience to similar laws of diffusion; (3) all infesting the same localities; (4) all attacking the same classes of people; and (5)all increased in severity in unsanitary conditions. (Pelling, 64). The General Board of Health of London produced a report on cholera in 1850. The primary purpose of the report was to indicate that the pattern of the epidemic had confirmed the predilations of the metropolitan sanitary commissioners. That is, that cholera could be prevented if closer attention was paid to sanitary conditions. Specifically, if problems such as overcrowded living conditions, filth, dampness, dirty water, drain pipes in poor condition, and improper storage and preparation of food were addressed. (Pelling, 78). In order to understand the epidemics which dominated the nineteenth century one must listen to the voices of the time. These voices speak of factory workers being forced to work incredibly long hours in filthy conditions for very little money, several families living together in one room apartments with no running water.
