Catcher In The Rye Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Catcher in the Rye" can be a challenging endeavor. The novel,
penned by J.D. Salinger, is a rich and complex work that delves into the mind of its protagonist,
Holden Caulfield. Exploring themes of alienation, adolescence, and societal expectations, the
narrative demands careful analysis and thoughtful interpretation.
One of the difficulties lies in capturing the essence of Holden's character. Unraveling the layers
of his personality, understanding his idiosyncrasies, and deciphering the motivations behind his
actions require a keen literary insight. Moreover, navigating through the intricacies of Salinger's
writing style, which is marked by a unique blend of colloquial language and profound
introspection, adds another layer of complexity to the task.
Another challenge is constructing a cohesive and compelling argument that goes beyond mere
summary. To produce a meaningful essay, one must synthesize the novel's themes, characters,
and symbols into a coherent analysis. Developing a thesis that offers fresh perspectives and sheds
light on the underlying messages of the text demands both creativity and critical thinking.
Furthermore, delving into the cultural and historical context of the 1950s, when the novel was
written, adds depth to the essay. Understanding the societal norms and expectations of the time
provides a backdrop against which the characters' actions and decisions can be evaluated.
In essence, writing a well-crafted essay on "Catcher in the Rye" requires a blend of literary
analysis, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the historical and cultural context. It is a
task that challenges writers to go beyond surface-level interpretations and explore the nuanced
layers of Salinger's masterpiece.
For those finding themselves overwhelmed by the intricacies of this task, it's worth noting that
assistance is available. Similar essays and a myriad of academic writing services can be accessed

complexities of literary analysis and essay composition.

What Are The Characteristics Of Cockroaches
For some people, even the mention of cockroaches sends shivers down their spines.
Often, people are reminded of dirtiness when it comes to cockroaches. Worse still,
cockroaches are known for spreading diseases such as Salmonellosis, and also
triggering allergies and asthma!
On top of that, cockroaches also portray another shocking characteristic cannibalism.
Studies have shown cannibalism in six species of cockroaches, including German,
American, and Oriental that show cannibalistic tendencies. Unfortunately, the
German and American cockroach are most commonly found and seen in Malaysian
homes.
You may notice some cockroaches found in your home tend to be bigger and some
tend to fly while some don t. That s the difference between German and American
cockroaches. German cockroaches come in yellowish ... Show more content on

Usually, it s the older, stronger cockroaches praying on the young and weak.
However, in terms of pest control this survival instinct sometimes doesn t work out
for them. If one cockroach has consumed some bait, and then falls victim to being
cannibalised, those feeding upon it will also become infected with the effects of the
bait.
Regulation
Another reason behind their cannibalistic instinct is due to self regulation. Large
populations mean less food to go around. Eliminating members of the intrusion means
fewer mouths to feed, resulting in more food for everyone else. Usually, this occurs
with the females consuming eggs and nymphs when food is scarce.
German cockroach nymphs can sometimes avoid being cannibalised by foraging for
food during the day. Adult cockroaches usually operate during the night. These
nymphs have also developed a pheromone that repels adult cockroaches.
It has also been reported that female American cockroaches turn to cannibalism when
mating. Just like black widow spiders, female American cockroaches can consume
their male partner during
Mafia Essay
The Mafia way of life may seem like a romantic updated version of the western
movie played out on the streets of the big cities where the good guys and the wise
guys who share the same instincts and values do battle before an enthralled public
but it is actually very different. The Mafia is really just a group of uneducated thugs
making moneyby victimizing the public. Initially, the Mafiawas setup as a prominent
supplier of bootlegged liquor, but it has spread into many different areas of crime.
During this research paper I will discuss three aspects of the Mafia which are crime,
structure and decline in leadership.

The codes can be shown by how one can be as frail as old Carlo Gambino the last
real Godfather, Boss of Bosses before he died in 1976, but if by a simple yes or no,
a nod or shake of the head, or a waggle of a finger one has the power of death over
anyone in his organizatoin. The Mafia is made up of thieves, and murderers who
are all greedy for money. On the flip side, the Mafia is based on respect. Each
member must respect and follow all orders give by a higher ranking member.
Although the make up of the Mob is based on respect, members usually kill their
way to the top. A Mafia family is headed by a boss who is in charge of everything,
he is the one who controls all of the power because in the Mafia the rule of law is
the rule of the despot. Each family has an underboss who mediates disputes and
advises the boss, as well as a number of captains. Under each captain are soldiers, the
lowest official Mafia member. The Italian Mafia is not the only organized crime
group around, there are many other ethnic groups the Mafia has to coexist with. Not
only is the mob facing new competition from Chinese gangs and Russian immigrants,
but it must also contend with the hungrier drug syndicates from Latin America and
the Caribbean, whose staggering wealth and firepower make the mob look quaint.

Hedge Funds And Its Strategy Classifications
Introduction
As of 2014, more than 11,000 hedge funds are managing more than $2.6 Trillion in
assets (De Pol, 2015). The statement itself speaks how important these hedge funds
are in the global financial market. They provide investors with opportunities to
achieve gains and manage risks. Hedge funds provide liquidity and make financial
markets more efficient. These funds can be operated with extreme flexibility and
play an important role in financial innovation and reallocation of financial risk
(Rubin et al, 1999). Although it sounds good, hedge funds took a hit during the 2008
crisis. Along with the credit crisis came Madoff fraud, the biggest investment scam in
2008. Investors started looking at these funds as high risk, highly leveraged
investment vehicles that lacked transparency. Since mid 2009 hedge funds have
picked up and strategies are being improved for better risk management, transparency
and gaining confidence of investors.
The article will give a brief overview of Hedge Funds and its strategy classifications.
Then it will particularly describe Event Driven strategy and the market risks
associated with it.
Hedge Funds
A hedge fund can be defined as a pool of investment vehicles that is actively managed
and is open only to a limited group of investors and whose performance is measured
in absolute return units (Connor and Woo, 2003). Hedge funds are private investment
partnerships that require investors to make considerable investments. They are largely

Isaiah Thomas As A Role Model In College
When someone says role model who do you think of? For me personally it would
have to be someone who has gotten through struggles and gotten to where they are
through hard work not just having everything handed to them. A role model in my
life would also have to be someone who is a positive influence on me whether he

Funerals
It s assumed that people have knowledge of what is appropriate planning for life
after death, but nobody is ever prepared; and that is why preplanning is necessary.
Death and dying is a part of life nobody likes to discuss, plain and simple, it makes
us uncomfortable. This is a major contributor to why no one plans ahead. Nobody
likes to think about death, it isn t a pleasant thought to most of us. However,
unfortunately, in our lifetime, avoiding a funeral is inevitable.
In pursuing this further, there are several aspects to this topic; such as,
preplanning, financial planning, cost, and the surviving family members. Funeral
planning is something we all will have to do at one point in our lives, but where
should we begin? It is a good idea to start with the preplanning of the funeral.
Preplanning is crucial; it provides piece of mind, especially for surviving family.
As said earlier, discussing one s mortality is an extremely uncomfortable topic;
however, by preplanning a funeral, it will relieve the family of having to make
important decisions during a period of immense stress and grief. Furthermore,
preplanning gives time to explore the options for a ceremony and allows time to
discuss the financial aspects. It also gives a chance to choose a funeral home that
best suit ones needs and budget. Moreover, the first decision that needs to be made

Throughout the duration of the 20th Century a vast majority of African colonies
fought to secure their sovereignty. Nearly all African nations were colonized by
European empires, some dating back in excess of 500 years. They were exploited
for their natural resources and labor forces, typically slaves or indentured servants. In
many cases legislation was even passed that built apartheid into the citizens of the
nations. Making it law that settlers were above the indigenous people, in terms of
value of life. This eventually sparked mass revolution and liberation movements
across the continent, Angola was no different.

the penny is putting our country in jeopardy with financial losses. This meaningless

This averages to about 1210 pennies per person in the United States. These
numbers are just simply preposterous. A majority of these Lincolns have probably

Gallup Poll of 1,002 adults conducted from June 11 of this year displayed shocking
results. Nearly 75% of those adults would stop and pick a penny that is present on

Central Executive Functioning
Working memory is the immediate memory for the finite amount of material an
individual is processing at the moment. This memory capacity allows an individual to
keep information attainable and active in order to use them in various cognitive
tasks. Working memory is similar to the outdated term known as short term memory.
According to the working memory approach proposed by Baddeley (1996), this
immediate memory is a multipart system consisting of four components known as the
phonological loop, visuospatial sketchpad, central executive, and the episodic buffer.
The component in question is the central executive, which is responsible for
integration of the other components. Is the central executive an essential part of
working memory or is it simply a glorified homunculus?
The central executive component of working memory integrates information from the
phonological loop, visuospatial sketchpad, the episodic buffer, and long term
memory. The central executive is responsible for regulation of task that includes
auditory, visual, and spatial activation in the brain region known as the frontal cortex.
Research was performed at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, to access
whether the central executive truly is activated during verbal and spatial working
memory tasks. A functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was used to
examine specific brain activation throughout these tasks. Results show that activation

Reflective Essay On The Spirit Of God
I just emailed out my last meeting reminders for the semester at Biola. Thankfully,
they do not represent the final meetings with the majority of people with whom I
meet. Of the 52 individuals I have met with, 42 of them will continue after the first of
the year. This continuity allows for greater understanding of their stories and greater
capacity to help them discern Gods voice in their lives. Those who are transitioning

God in the direction room.
Please be praying for the people God will bring to the ministry of Rooted Soul.
Along with these individuals, I have led three groups, with a total of 21 people.
This provides a totally different dynamic, which allows the members to discover
how the Spirit of God can speak through them, into the lives of others. What takes
place in these groups is often surprising and powerful, as we see God meet people in

This led to significance between the two data points. I ran a regression analysis to

influences GPA. The P Value for gender is 0.072, while the P Value for being on a
sports team is 0.020. With a level of significance of 0.05 these two data points were
significant. The amount of times exercised per week P Value is 0.64, while I am

for times exercised per week and GPA. In the introduction, I stated that I expect
those who exercise to have a lower GPA than those who don t. I felt this because I

concerns for companies. Diversity is now based upon race, gender, ethnicity,
disabilities, and sexual orientations. A diverse company will seek individuals who
bring unique perspectives or outlooks to the organization (Shackelford, 2003).
Workplace diversity allows for each individual to have an equal chance no matter
what his or her demographic is. Diversity in the workplace also shows that the
company is not discriminatory. Motivation is an individual s internal drive that
prompts him or her to perform a desired behavior. Employee
Essentialist Theory Of The Queer Theory
sexuality often impacts the success of claims made by bi sexual refugees. The author
argues that this dominant understanding jettisons complex subjective positions and
disregards varying realities. The refugee determination system misinterprets and
misidentifies the lived experiences of bisexual claimants because of this knowledge,
further disadvantaging this group of refugees. Rehaag observes that individuals
seeking asylum on the basis of oppression for their bisexual tendencies have
significantly higher rejection rates compared to other claimants.
To investigate this assertion, Rehaag uses the queer theory as the main theoretical
framework. According to Rehaag, the Queer theory is an interdisciplinary medium
that examines the complex interactions between sexuality and gender, and
conceptualizes such views of sexual orientation as essentialist. The essentialist view
dichotomizes individuals as being either straight or gay on the basis of early
childhood psychological factors or biological traits. Consequently, this essentialist
argument comprehends sexual orientation as unchangeable and inflexible.
Essentialists may, in selected instances, acknowledge groups beyond gay and straight,
such as transgendered and bisexual individuals. Queer theorists reject the essentialist
view arguing that these categories are not inflexible. Rather, these categories are
regularly recreated through socio historical patterns or structured social exchanges.
Consequently, the queer theory
Textual Analysis Of Casablanca
Welcome to Rick s: A Closer Look to the Introduction of Rick When the opening of
the film Casablanca (Michael Curtiz, 1942) first introduces Rick at Rick s , many
indications of his character are shown. He is sophisticated, mysterious, and a hard
thinker. These traits are shown by his playing chess by himself and wearing very
expensive, well kept clothing. The Rick Introduction scene in the film is able to give
the audience an immediate perspective on who Rick really is, within a matter of
seconds. This scene plays a vital role in pointing out major characteristics of Rick
which are: mysterious, complicated, discriminating, and headstrong by just looking at
his costume, his acting, and props. When Rick is first introduced into the film,... Show

We see an over the shoulder shot to indicate the conversation being held between
Rick and the German man. We then see a shot reverse shot, showing that both of
these characters are engaged with each other. When looking at the acting of Rick,
his voice looks calm and his face looks at ease. This suggests that people cannot get
to him (get in his head, or persuade him). This scene has huge importance since
people can implicitly assume that Rick does not take sides, and only cares about
himself. By looking at the color of costumes between Rick and the German man
indicates that Rick is good based on his white tuxedo, and the other man is not (he
is wearing black). The costume of Rick plays a major role in determining he is a
good character. A major part scene in particular implicitly that his character is
discriminating and headstrong. Maybe the most important part of this scene suggests
Rick has sympathy for the Allies. By him letting people with less money, and less
prominent into the bar, you can infer that he must feel something. Also by not letting
a wealthy German into the bar, and letting a criminal like Ugarte in, he must have
some sort of negative feelings to the Germans. After his encounter with the German
man, Rick has a discussion with Ugarte. When they are talking together, Rick
appears to be extremely taller than Ugarte. This technique known as forced
perspective, makes Rick seem even more
Market Failure in Unemployment Benefits
Market Failure In Provision of Unemployment Benefit
Market failure occurs when resources aren t used efficiently. This can be seen in
any market, whether a publics good or a private good. Market failure can also be
seen in the provision of unemployment benefits and unemployment insurance, as the
resources could be used inefficiently and misused in different ways. For the purpose
of this essay I will focus on how MORAL HAZZARD, prevents the efficiency in
unemployment benefits and insurance, I will discuss the main issues to do with
moral hazard in unemployment and also ways of combating it. I will do this by
firstly defining market failure and the main components on it before leading to the
actual topic of moral hazard.
Market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moral hazard is greatly seen as an individual can influence their probability of
entering or leaving unemployment. Moral hazard creates a disincentive to work and
reduces the supply of labour in a country. Moral hazard is unobservable , this means
the providers of insurance and benefit are totally unaware of the unemployed
intention while receiving the benefit. In unemployment insurance the two parties are
involved in contractual relationships, as their intentions contradict. The receiver of
the benefit is acting in a hazardous way and the insurer is fully on aware which
makes the provision a market failure.
The money being received for unemployment benefit is substantially high in
Ireland. This means that people are less willing to look for work as they have a
good income already. Looking for work would mean a loss of benefit or a reduce
income due to tax which will reduce the incentive for a person to go look for work.
Due to Moral Hazzard the system of payment are structured with a view to ensuring
that the system of payments does not weaken the incentive of the unemployed to take
on paid employment. Income tax and social security contributions levied on earnings
determine the employee s net earnings, when unemployed a worker receives
payments. If the gap between this is too much it may affect the incentive to work. If
the ratio is high then moral hazard increases as those who are unemployed may cease
to work.
Future Disadvantages Of M-Commerce
After looking at various aspects regarding m commerce and analysing various pros
and cons of m commerce, it is important to see future perspectives of m commerce.
Advantages of m commerce are expected to surpass the disadvantages and it is
expected that m commerce will be widely used for shopping, mobile recharges and

What If Shakespeare Had Sister
The essay What if Shakespeare Had Had a Sister? by Virginia Woolf, an excerpt in
50 Essays: A Portable Anthology Fourth Edition by Samuel Cohen, was originally
a component of her book, A Room of One s Own which was published in 1929.
Virginia Woolf, who was born in London in 1882, is one of the most prominent
writers in history. As a modernist and feminist, she is known for several of her
masterpieces. Her book, A Room of One s Own, was written based off two lectures
she gave dealing with women and the role they played in writingand literature. She
believed it was impossible, completely and entirely, for any woman to have written
the plays of Shakespeare in the age of Shakespeare.
Virginia Woolf started What if Shakespeare Had Had a Sister upset as she could not
find the truth to why women were poorer than men. She found it mysterious that
women were not writing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Woolf, although not knowing what he was thinking, admitted it had to be the best
state of mind for a poet. She brings up how she will never know what he was
thinking exactly because he never wrote a biography. Woolf confessed that it is
almost impossible to create the works of a genius. As she continued to look at the
absence of women s contributions to literature on the book shelves, the burden was
daunting.
As Woolf closed, she said, do not look for Judith Shakespeare in Sir Sidney Lee s
Life of a Poet. She died young and never was able to write a word; however, Woolf
believes Judith Shakespeare lives on in today s society. She believes Judith is a
representation of women alive and not alive who were not able to speak or write
their minds. She created Judith to show that even when great writers die, even if
they never physically wrote words on paper, they still live
Benigni s Life Is Beautiful
Distance the film maintains from realistic depictions of the holocaust enables the
director to use history to remind the audience of the moral lessons that it contains.
Life is Beautiful begins by stating that it is a fable, defying genre yet still it still
sets out in its goal in influencing or creating new values and attitudes. A fable is a
story often beyond reality, to provide a moral lesson. Fairy tale cannon bookends the
movie, it begins with a voiceover, This is a simple story, but not an easy one to tell.

comfort and suffering in their homes... Benigni taps into a new aspect of history and
focuses on the social attitudes of the time and tries to impact the current state.
Negative reviews claim the representation of the past could have a detrimental
impact, There is a serious point there if we see films like that, at least subconsciously
they end up giving the message that maybe it was not quite so bad after all. In his
representation Benigni was not trying to undermine the holocaust, from the beginning
Benigni states that he is depicting a fable, not a historical documentary he just wants
to share moral lessons, as mentioned before he did not want to offend Jewish people
through his depiction, he wanted to show their strength. The charge of holocaust

would be modified through their identification with the child s point of view seems to
underestimate the sophistication of the film and its audience. In representing the past

his company Apple. He changed the world with technology. If it weren t for him
and his company, I don t think we would be as advanced and close with others as
we are now. He was very argumentative, but he enjoyed making the users happy
about the product. He was a jerk also, but it all turned out for the better for

only the best for the customers. I think he was kind hearted as well because of how

usually in the big toe, psoriatic arthritis that often occurs along with psoriasis and
reactive arthritis which usually involves the eyes, urethra and joints. Juvenile arthritis
is an umbrella term used to describe any form of childhood arthritis or arthritis
related conditions which affects people under 16 years old. The most common form

The chances of having JRA until adulthood can be indicated by the presence of the
rheumatoid factor. Less than half of the children with JRA have rheumatoid factor
while 70% to 80% of people with Adult RA possess the rheumatoid factor.
Symptoms of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
People with JRA may experience chronic fever, anemia, joint pains, and heart, lungs,
eyes, and nervous system concerns. They might experience them for some weeks. It
is the arthritis flares that frequently return. However, some of the symptoms could be
less intense in the subsequent attacks. Symptoms of JRA may be eye inflammation,
pink rashes that appear and disappear, joint stiffness, swelling and pain, and
recurring fevers with a temperature of 103 degrees or higher. They might also
experience a decreased level of activity, deterioration of fine motor skills, impaired
bone growth and development, and limping.
Types of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
There are three classifications of JRA. According to doctors, each classification is
characterized by the existence of certain antibodies in the blood, symptoms
experienced, and the number of joints affected. The most common type of JRA is
Pauciarticular which involves four or fewer joints and accounts for half of the
number of children with JRA. Polyarticular JRA accounts for 30% of JRA affected
children and involves five or more joints, commonly those in the hands and feet.

Second Industrial Revolution Research Paper
The Second Industrial Revolution was also known as the Technological Revolution,
and was fueled somewhere between the 1820s and 1860s. It transformed the United
States economically, and created a new meaning of Production, and Distribution.
When people think of the second industrial revolution, it is usually associated with
the Railroad systems, and its significance in massive production throughout the
country. There were other innovations as well as the railroad, such as steamboats,
roads for cars to travel, linking cities to together for faster distribution. Steel was very
popular at the time, even though steel has been being made throughout history; the
new transportation systems played a very significant role in the mass production of

The Late Century French Noble Constructed By Odo Of
Cluny
The early medieval nobility consists of elites within society of a higher social and
political status due to their wealth, lineage, and reputation within the community. It
can be argued that Gerald, a 10th century French noble constructed by Odo of Cluny
embodies the social and political role of the nobilityat the time, most prominently
represented in his key role as a lord with heightening power in the ever developing
feudal system, and integrally linked with this, his unwavering loyalty to the king and
monarchy. In contrary, Gerald portrays many qualities that arguably do not mirror the
likes of a 10th century noble such as his questionable masculinity and sexuality
reflected through his pacifistic nature and his greater focus on... Show more content

Bisson describes this as power without restraint , which, perhaps backwardly, is
reflected in Gerald s lack of aggression he is able to take matters into his own hands
and disregard the general higher authority consensus on how vassals should be
managed. However, countering this localised power yet underpinning Gerald s
role as a noble with political influence is his refusal of William of Aquitaine s offer
to join forces and thus enforcing his loyalty to the king. At the time, political power
was gained by a positive and resilient relationship with the king, as Airlie suggests
that The motor that propelled fortunate members of the aristocracy across Europe
was royal favour and patronage . This devotion strengthens Gerald s perceived role
of reflecting a typical noble s political influence, as nobility was at its strongest when
showing loyalty to the Carolingian kingship.
However it can be argued that Gerald did not reflect the political role of a noble in
the 10th century, shown through his greater obligation to monastic duties than
secular political influence. Gerald wore old fashioned woollen or linen clothes as
his strength lay in God rather than in gold or the multitude of riches . This was
unlike nobles at the time, who undoubtedly would have gained more political control
by looking presentable and appearing as a typical respectable noble. Although
religion would have been an integral feature in the lives of nobility,
My Reflection Of Nature
The main way the readings, reflections, and discussions with classmates has
contributed to my understanding of how to incorporate nature is the variety of
perceptions. I really enjoyed how every individual in the class had their own take
on an issue and a way to connect it to nature. For example, there were at least three
people who decided to focus on the issue of loss and grief for the assignment that
was shared over the camping trip. Even though the topic was discussed by three
people, each person used a different part of nature to depict their unique metaphor.
Another way completing the classwork with peers has contributed to my
understanding of how to incorporate nature is that the information from peers has
displayed to me incorporating nature does not need to be difficult.
Since the beginning of the semester, I was worried about how I would incorporate
nature into the location I am currently at for practicum. Due to the fact that I am a
student, I have to record, which limits my ability to take clients outside. Also,
there is an issue with confidentiality as soon as I walk out the door with one of my
clients. There are a large number of what if s , for example, what if the client and I
bump into the client s peers. These thoughts made adding nature into my practicum
site seem impossible and I was worried about how I was going to role play with a
partner on how to get clients outside.
However, the readings, reflections, as well as class discussions calmed my

The Concept Of Courtly Love In Don Quixote And Don
Cervantes
Love. What is it? What is its purpose? The J. Geils Band says love stinks. Pat
Benatar says love is a battlefield. The idea of love proliferates every aspect of our
human culture. Love influences our literature, music, religion, and social lives. Love
makes us do funny things, makes us feel warm and fuzzy, hurts us, brings people
together, and transforms lives. Lovetransforms us. Sometimes for the better,
sometimes for the worse. There are multiple types of love such as brotherly love
and courtly love. Courtly love is an example of how love transforms a person. In the
traditional definition of courtly love, the love struck hero is on a constant struggle to
reach the object of his affection. While Cervantes provides an accurate portrayal of
courtly love in Don Quixote, Dante s version in Inferno and Purgatory is a more
convincing use of courtly love because his character, Dante, emerges as a
transformed character through the process of trying to get to his beloved Beatrice.
The principles of courtly love: often adulterous, the lady is inaccessible, a lot of
emotion, usually ends in death/separation rather than marriage, the lady is
idealized, and the hero would go through anything for his lady ( Medieval View of
Love ). There are three main principles that can be compared and contrasted
between Dante s work and Cervantes work: the idealization of the lady,
inaccessibility of the lady, and the journey of the hero trying to reach his lady. The
object of Dante s courtly love
Effects Of Exponential Population Growth
1) What is exponential population growth? I found this a bit confusing the more I
researched it. My understanding of Exponential is when something grows at a rate
that doubles 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc. However, it has a little different context when applied
to population. The explanation I found that seems the clearest is as a populations per
capita (individual) growth rate stays the same regardless of population size, the
population grows faster and faster as it gets larger (Khan, 2017). 2) Is the global
population growing exponentially and why? This answer (to me) can be yes and
no. According to Roser and Ortiz Ospina (2017), actual growth is declining, but the
population is rising. In the 20th century, the world s population quadrupled; but
will not double in the 21st. The fastest doubling period was 1950 1987 (37 years)
when the population grew from 2.5 billion to 5 billion. Since 1962 when the
growth rate was 2.1%, the growth rate has slowed along with the doubling rate. It
is also estimated that the world s population will reach 11 billion by 2088, but will
have taken nearly 100 years to get there. As resources begin to taper off, so will
growth this is known as Logistic Growth. I do not believe we are there yet,
however, we are heading there. I do not know if this is an indicator or not, but Japan
is experiencing a population shift where the elderly outnumber the younger and is
expected to increase in the coming decades and the population is shrinking
How Human Toxoplasmosis Is Considered A Major Health
Problem
Human toxoplasmosis is considered a major health problem among various
Egyptian patients with a prevalence of 59.1% among ocular patients (El Sayed and
Ismail 2012), 56.7% among schizophrenia patients, 40% among patients with
depressive disorder (El Sayed et al. 2012) and 33.67% among blood donors (El
Sayed et al. 2016). Thus, this study determined the relationship between Toxoplasma
infection and Egyptian RA patients by detecting IgM and IgG antibodies in blood
samples of the patients compared with controls. Diagnosis of toxoplasmosismight be
highly desirable in those patients as they may be at risk for reactivation of latent
infection as well as increase the risk of acute toxoplasmosis.
Egyptian RA patients were found to have a significantly increased frequency of
latent toxoplasmosis (54 %) with elevated levels of IgG to T. gondii compared to
normal controls (32 %) and also, the presence of Toxoplasma IgM antibodies in 7.4
% of T. gondii IgG positive patients indicated the reactivation of T. gondii infection
in them especially who receiving anti TNF and DMARDS treatments. These
results are compatible with Kuba et al. (2014) who found that the seroprevalence
of T. gondii IgM and IgG were 20.4%, and 33.33% in RA patients receiving
methotrexate, 8%, and 36% in RA patients without treatment while, it was 24% and
12% in healthy controls. In Kirkuk city Iraq, the overall seroprevalence of
toxoplasmosis was observed in 54.09 % RA patients; 47.54% and 6.55 % of them had

Catcher In The Rye Essay

  • 1. Catcher In The Rye Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Catcher in the Rye" can be a challenging endeavor. The novel, penned by J.D. Salinger, is a rich and complex work that delves into the mind of its protagonist, Holden Caulfield. Exploring themes of alienation, adolescence, and societal expectations, the narrative demands careful analysis and thoughtful interpretation. One of the difficulties lies in capturing the essence of Holden's character. Unraveling the layers of his personality, understanding his idiosyncrasies, and deciphering the motivations behind his actions require a keen literary insight. Moreover, navigating through the intricacies of Salinger's writing style, which is marked by a unique blend of colloquial language and profound introspection, adds another layer of complexity to the task. Another challenge is constructing a cohesive and compelling argument that goes beyond mere summary. To produce a meaningful essay, one must synthesize the novel's themes, characters, and symbols into a coherent analysis. Developing a thesis that offers fresh perspectives and sheds light on the underlying messages of the text demands both creativity and critical thinking. Furthermore, delving into the cultural and historical context of the 1950s, when the novel was written, adds depth to the essay. Understanding the societal norms and expectations of the time provides a backdrop against which the characters' actions and decisions can be evaluated. In essence, writing a well-crafted essay on "Catcher in the Rye" requires a blend of literary analysis, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the historical and cultural context. It is a task that challenges writers to go beyond surface-level interpretations and explore the nuanced layers of Salinger's masterpiece. For those finding themselves overwhelmed by the intricacies of this task, it's worth noting that assistance is available. Often, people are reminded of dirtiness when it comes to cockroaches. Worse still, cockroaches are known for spreading diseases such as Salmonellosis, and also triggering allergies and asthma! On top of that, cockroaches also portray another shocking characteristic cannibalism. Studies have shown cannibalism in six species of cockroaches, including German, American, and Oriental that show cannibalistic tendencies. Unfortunately, the German and American cockroach are most commonly found and seen in Malaysian homes. However, in terms of pest control this survival instinct sometimes doesn t work out for them. If one cockroach has consumed some bait, and then falls victim to being cannibalised, those feeding upon it will also become infected with the effects of the bait. Regulation Another reason behind their cannibalistic instinct is due to self regulation. Large populations mean less food to go around. Eliminating members of the intrusion means fewer mouths to feed, resulting in more food for everyone else. Usually, this occurs with the females consuming eggs and nymphs when food is scarce. German cockroach nymphs can sometimes avoid being cannibalised by foraging for food during the day. Adult cockroaches usually operate during the night. These nymphs have also developed a pheromone that repels adult cockroaches. It has also been reported that female American cockroaches turn to cannibalism when mating. Just like black widow spiders, female American cockroaches can consume their male partner during

The Mafia is really just a group of uneducated thugs making moneyby victimizing the public. Initially, the Mafiawas setup as a prominent supplier of bootlegged liquor, but it has spread into many different areas of crime. The Mafia is made up of thieves, and murderers who are all greedy for money. On the flip side, the Mafia is based on respect. Each member must respect and follow all orders give by a higher ranking member. Although the make up of the Mob is based on respect, members usually kill their way to the top. A Mafia family is headed by a boss who is in charge of everything, he is the one who controls all of the power because in the Mafia the rule of law is the rule of the despot. Each family has an underboss who mediates disputes and advises the boss, as well as a number of captains. Under each captain are soldiers, the lowest official Mafia member. The Italian Mafia is not the only organized crime group around, there are many other ethnic groups the Mafia has to coexist with. Not only is the mob facing new competition from Chinese gangs and Russian immigrants, but it must also contend with the hungrier drug syndicates from Latin America and the Caribbean, whose staggering wealth and firepower make the mob look quaint. Many packets can arrive at a packet switch roughly at the same time. If these packets need to be forwarded on the same outbound link, all but one will have to queue, that is, wait to be transmitted. This waiting introduces a queuing delay. Furthermore, if the queue of packets becomes very large, the packet switch s buffer may become exhausted, causing packets to be dropped or lost. Queuing delay and packet loss can severely impact the performance of an application. Protocol layers. A typical computer network makes use of many protocols easily hundreds. To deal with this complexity, the protocols are organized into layers. These protocol layers are arranged in a stack. For example, the Internet organizes its protocols into five layers namely, from top to bottom: application layer, transport layer, network layer, link layer, and physical layer. The protocols of layer n use the services provided by the protocols at the layer n 1 (the layer below). Death and dying is a part of life nobody likes to discuss, plain and simple, it makes us uncomfortable. This is a major contributor to why no one plans ahead. Nobody likes to think about death, it isn t a pleasant thought to most of us. However, unfortunately, in our lifetime, avoiding a funeral is inevitable. In pursuing this further, there are several aspects to this topic; such as, preplanning, financial planning, cost, and the surviving family members. This memory capacity allows an individual to keep information attainable and active in order to use them in various cognitive tasks. Working memory is similar to the outdated term known as short term memory. According to the working memory approach proposed by Baddeley (1996), this immediate memory is a multipart system consisting of four components known as the phonological loop, visuospatial sketchpad, central executive, and the episodic buffer. The component in question is the central executive, which is responsible for integration of the other components. Is the central executive an essential part of working memory or is it simply a glorified homunculus? The central executive component of working memory integrates information from the phonological loop, visuospatial sketchpad, the episodic buffer, and long term memory. The central executive is responsible for regulation of task that includes auditory, visual, and spatial activation in the brain region known as the frontal cortex. Research was performed at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, to access whether the central executive truly is activated during verbal and spatial working memory tasks. A functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was used to examine specific brain activation throughout these tasks. Results show that activation in the prefrontal

  • 21. Essentialist Theory Of The Queer Theory sexuality often impacts the success of claims made by bi sexual refugees. The author argues that this dominant understanding jettisons complex subjective positions and disregards varying realities. The refugee determination system misinterprets and misidentifies the lived experiences of bisexual claimants because of this knowledge, further disadvantaging this group of refugees. Rehaag observes that individuals seeking asylum on the basis of oppression for their bisexual tendencies have significantly higher rejection rates compared to other claimants. To investigate this assertion, Rehaag uses the queer theory as the main theoretical framework. According to Rehaag, the Queer theory is an interdisciplinary medium that examines the complex interactions between sexuality and gender, and conceptualizes such views of sexual orientation as essentialist. The essentialist view dichotomizes individuals as being either straight or gay on the basis of early childhood psychological factors or biological traits. Consequently, this essentialist argument comprehends sexual orientation as unchangeable and inflexible. Essentialists may, in selected instances, acknowledge groups beyond gay and straight, such as transgendered and bisexual individuals. Queer theorists reject the essentialist view arguing that these categories are not inflexible. Rather, these categories are regularly recreated through socio historical patterns or structured social exchanges. Consequently, the queer theory

Moral hazard is greatly seen as an individual can influence their probability of entering or leaving unemployment. Moral hazard creates a disincentive to work and reduces the supply of labour in a country. Moral hazard is unobservable , this means the providers of insurance and benefit are totally unaware of the unemployed intention while receiving the benefit. In unemployment insurance the two parties are involved in contractual relationships, as their intentions contradict. The receiver of the benefit is acting in a hazardous way and the insurer is fully on aware which makes the provision a market failure. The money being received for unemployment benefit is substantially high in Ireland. This means that people are less willing to look for work as they have a good income already. Looking for work would mean a loss of benefit or a reduce income due to tax which will reduce the incentive for a person to go look for work. Due to Moral Hazzard the system of payment are structured with a view to ensuring that the system of payments does not weaken the incentive of the unemployed to take on paid employment. Income tax and social security contributions levied on earnings determine the employee s net earnings, when unemployed a worker receives payments. If the gap between this is too much it may affect the incentive to work. If the ratio is high then moral hazard increases as those who are unemployed may cease to work.

  • 33. The Late Century French Noble Constructed By Odo Of Cluny The early medieval nobility consists of elites within society of a higher social and political status due to their wealth, lineage, and reputation within the community. It can be argued that Gerald, a 10th century French noble constructed by Odo of Cluny embodies the social and political role of the nobilityat the time, most prominently represented in his key role as a lord with heightening power in the ever developing feudal system, and integrally linked with this, his unwavering loyalty to the king and monarchy. In contrary, Gerald portrays many qualities that arguably do not mirror the likes of a 10th century noble such as his questionable masculinity and sexuality reflected through his pacifistic nature and his greater focus on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bisson describes this as power without restraint , which, perhaps backwardly, is reflected in Gerald s lack of aggression he is able to take matters into his own hands and disregard the general higher authority consensus on how vassals should be managed. However, countering this localised power yet underpinning Gerald s role as a noble with political influence is his refusal of William of Aquitaine s offer to join forces and thus enforcing his loyalty to the king. At the time, political power was gained by a positive and resilient relationship with the king, as Airlie suggests that The motor that propelled fortunate members of the aristocracy across Europe was royal favour and patronage . This devotion strengthens Gerald s perceived role of reflecting a typical noble s political influence, as nobility was at its strongest when showing loyalty to the Carolingian kingship. However it can be argued that Gerald did not reflect the political role of a noble in the 10th century, shown through his greater obligation to monastic duties than secular political influence. Gerald wore old fashioned woollen or linen clothes as his strength lay in God rather than in gold or the multitude of riches . This was unlike nobles at the time, who undoubtedly would have gained more political control by looking presentable and appearing as a typical respectable noble. Although religion would have been an integral feature in the lives of nobility,
  • 34. My Reflection Of Nature The main way the readings, reflections, and discussions with classmates has contributed to my understanding of how to incorporate nature is the variety of perceptions. I really enjoyed how every individual in the class had their own take on an issue and a way to connect it to nature. For example, there were at least three people who decided to focus on the issue of loss and grief for the assignment that was shared over the camping trip. Even though the topic was discussed by three people, each person used a different part of nature to depict their unique metaphor. Another way completing the classwork with peers has contributed to my understanding of how to incorporate nature is that the information from peers has displayed to me incorporating nature does not need to be difficult. Since the beginning of the semester, I was worried about how I would incorporate nature into the location I am currently at for practicum. Due to the fact that I am a student, I have to record, which limits my ability to take clients outside. Also, there is an issue with confidentiality as soon as I walk out the door with one of my clients. There are a large number of what if s , for example, what if the client and I bump into the client s peers. These thoughts made adding nature into my practicum site seem impossible and I was worried about how I was going to role play with a partner on how to get clients outside. However, the readings, reflections, as well as class discussions calmed my

Because of the unfair image of video games, the public does not understand how this weapon can actually be a incredible resource and solution to the many troubles of society. In a University of Iowa study, a group of individuals 50 and older played a specially designed video game and it improved their speed and mental processing abilities by slowing their natural mental decline in some cases, up to seven years. By using technology in this way, students can improve literary rate and mental skills, the elderly can slow the aging process, and can serve as an effective relieve to depression and stress. If more attention is put to the debate of video games, good or bad, at least some focus
  • 36. The Concept Of Courtly Love In Don Quixote And Don Cervantes Love. What is it? What is its purpose? The J. Geils Band says love stinks. Pat Benatar says love is a battlefield. The idea of love proliferates every aspect of our human culture. Love influences our literature, music, religion, and social lives. Love makes us do funny things, makes us feel warm and fuzzy, hurts us, brings people together, and transforms lives. Lovetransforms us. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. There are multiple types of love such as brotherly love and courtly love. Courtly love is an example of how love transforms a person. In the traditional definition of courtly love, the love struck hero is on a constant struggle to reach the object of his affection. While Cervantes provides an accurate portrayal of courtly love in Don Quixote, Dante s version in Inferno and Purgatory is a more convincing use of courtly love because his character, Dante, emerges as a transformed character through the process of trying to get to his beloved Beatrice. The principles of courtly love: often adulterous, the lady is inaccessible, a lot of emotion, usually ends in death/separation rather than marriage, the lady is idealized, and the hero would go through anything for his lady ( Medieval View of Love ). There are three main principles that can be compared and contrasted between Dante s work and Cervantes work: the idealization of the lady, inaccessibility of the lady, and the journey of the hero trying to reach his lady. The object of Dante s courtly love
  • 37. Effects Of Exponential Population Growth 1) What is exponential population growth? I found this a bit confusing the more I researched it. My understanding of Exponential is when something grows at a rate that doubles 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc. However, it has a little different context when applied to population. The explanation I found that seems the clearest is as a populations per capita (individual) growth rate stays the same regardless of population size, the population grows faster and faster as it gets larger (Khan, 2017). 2) Is the global population growing exponentially and why? This answer (to me) can be yes and no. According to Roser and Ortiz Ospina (2017), actual growth is declining, but the population is rising. In the 20th century, the world s population quadrupled; but will not double in the 21st. The fastest doubling period was 1950 1987 (37 years) when the population grew from 2.5 billion to 5 billion. Since 1962 when the growth rate was 2.1%, the growth rate has slowed along with the doubling rate. It is also estimated that the world s population will reach 11 billion by 2088, but will have taken nearly 100 years to get there. As resources begin to taper off, so will growth this is known as Logistic Growth. I do not believe we are there yet, however, we are heading there. I do not know if this is an indicator or not, but Japan is experiencing a population shift where the elderly outnumber the younger and is expected to increase in the coming decades and the population is shrinking

How Human Toxoplasmosis Is Considered A Major Health Problem Human toxoplasmosis is considered a major health problem among various Egyptian patients with a prevalence of 59.1% among ocular patients (El Sayed and Ismail 2012), 56.7% among schizophrenia patients, 40% among patients with depressive disorder (El Sayed et al. 2012) and 33.67% among blood donors (El Sayed et al. 2016). Thus, this study determined the relationship between Toxoplasma infection and Egyptian RA patients by detecting IgM and IgG antibodies in blood samples of the patients compared with controls. Diagnosis of toxoplasmosismight be highly desirable in those patients as they may be at risk for reactivation of latent infection as well as increase the risk of acute toxoplasmosis. Egyptian RA patients were found to have a significantly increased frequency of latent toxoplasmosis (54 %) with elevated levels of IgG to T. gondii compared to normal controls (32 %) and also, the presence of Toxoplasma IgM antibodies in 7.4 % of T. gondii IgG positive patients indicated the reactivation of T. gondii infection in them especially who receiving anti TNF and DMARDS treatments. These results are compatible with Kuba et al. (2014) who found that the seroprevalence of T. gondii IgM and IgG were 20.4%, and 33.33% in RA patients receiving methotrexate, 8%, and 36% in RA patients without treatment while, it was 24% and 12% in healthy controls. In Kirkuk city Iraq, the overall seroprevalence of toxoplasmosis was observed in 54.09 % RA patients; 47.54% and 6.55 % of them had
