Ever feel the sense of injustice? It strikes your heart and makes it feel as though it
was dipped in acid. The burn of rage that builds knowing what was done was not
correct or fair. This book shows clear signs of both justice and injustice. Poor Tom
Robinson was said guilty, only because he was an African American. This book deals
with racism. He was found guilty (Horton Foote, pg. 68). He was innocent, but
because he was a man from African American descent. All odds were stacked against
him, making him guilty the moment he stepped into court. However, Atticus was
brave enough to take the case. He himself knew he d lose, but he would do anything
for justice. Every man or woman deserves equality. During the trial Ewell, Tate and

3. Self Esteem, Along With Self Identity Essay
According to Janet Gonzalez Mena (1998.) Self esteem, along with self identity,
comes from early experiences and continues up through school years into adolescence
and adult hood. Children define themselves partly by looking at the images that they
see reflected in the people around them. (Pg. 247)
While outside of the close environment of my family I became nervous and
concerned about what people thought about me. This was the beginning of
recreating my self esteem in a new environment. I think that self esteem starts all
over when you are put in a new community environments or family. Although it gets
easier as you get older because you will already have the practice and understanding
of your self. I was very sensitive at first coming out of my close family connections.
The people I started to make a strong connection to were my teachers and teacher
assistants. I think that this was because they supported me in my learning and the
community of my classroom. Providing young children in a new environment it is
important to encourage a healthy self esteem. I think people need different types of
support and encouragement. Most young children have different education support
that might make some type of impact on their self esteem. Some examples that can
challenge children s self esteem are language barriers, disabilities, economic status,
and the type of learners they are. I think by the time I got to grade school I establish
the type of way I in took information. All of my

of positive aspects because of these date from Nation Master. However, there are
several potential risks related to the deep connection between the electronic device

5. Summary Of Meta-Fiction In The Canterbury Tales
In The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer is able to provide explicit social
commentary of his characters to his readers through the process of meta fiction, in
which he writes about the art of literature and its effect on the readers. Through the
use of meta fiction, Chaucer is able to hide behind his overt commentary of the
social classes, which includes criticizing members of the church and the social
elite, while also commenting on social, religious, and gender inequality. In The
Prologue to The Tale of Sir Thopas , Chaucer avoids the repercussions of his
political statements by portraying himself as a quiet character of unknown social
class who tells a dumb witted tale to play to his naivety, while following with an
advisory tale saturated with legal and moral arguments, leaving the characters, and
the readers, wondering about the depths of his character. The way that Chaucer
performs this meta fiction is in itself an art form, as he inserts himself as a character
in the tales, playing the role of the observant yet naГЇve narrator. Throughout the
tales, the character Chaucer remains silent, keeping his opinions to himself and
never implying a place where he should tell his story, unlike the drunk, lowly miller
who interrupts the social order by telling his tale before the monk. However,
Chaucer the author explicitly draws attention to this silence in the prologue before
The Tale of Sir Thopas after the prioress finishes her tale, to which he says, Whan

6. A Prototype Of Black Box For Vehicle
Abstract The main purpose of the paper is to develop a prototype of Black Box for
vehicle diagnosis that can be installed into any vehicle. Like flight data recorders in
aircraft, Black Box technology plays a key role in vehicle crash investigations. This
prototype can be designed with minimum number of circuits. This can contribute to
construct safer vehicles, improving the treatment for crash victims, helping insurance
companies with their vehiclecrash investigations, and enhancing road status in order
to decrease the death rate. The prototype provides complete information about the car
along with Navigation system in collaboration with Google Earth. The prototype can
provide Artificial Intelligence Support by having a communication channel between
the user and the car. Car To Car Communication for analyzing abruptness in the
forthcoming vehicle before it intends to collide is a major field studied in the paper
along with live analysis through experiments.

7. The Between Federalists And Anti Federalists, Separation...
We the People... Words that all Americans should recognize being in the United
States Constitution; As supreme as it may portray out to be yet it comes with many
imperfections that unsettles the states and greatly affected African Americans,
leading future decisions to more disagreements throughout the course of history. The
United Stateswere beginning to form itself up since the Constitution was created, it
granted the people the power to rule themselves without the federal government
getting too involved in State affairs; The Constitution was indeed foundational for the
United States so it could continue on forth, especially with the formation of political
parties forming up their views. There are the main issues that unfold involving the all
these matters, it shows itself with how human rights lacked for African Americans
during this time, the complications between the Federalists and Anti federalists,
separation of powers and the States lacking power compared to the Federal
government. Whether or not the situations were impossible; things could have been
better for everyone, after all the people should have the power.
Beginning with the biggest flaw of the Constitution is the lack of rights for African
Americans. The Northern States abolished slavery so African American were free,
but still would face inequality and hardships, but not as difficult as African Americans
living as slaves in the southern states, due to the fugitive slave act, southerners won a
8. Existentialism In The Movie Forrest Gump
Existentialism is a European philosophy that began in the mid 19th century but
reached its peak in the 20th century. Existentialism became popular following the
catastrophic years of World Wars and the Holocaust when many people began to
question the traditional belief systems and ideas based on the terrifying events
committed during the wars. Existentialism is a set of philosophical systems, which
emphasize individual existence, freedom, choice, and personal responsibility.
Pursuing this further, existentialism is the idea that human beings simply exist and
choose their actions for themselves. To summarize, existentialism believes that
people exist and live through their own behavior and perceptions and without any
certainty about right or wrong. This is unlike those who believe that everything that
occurs is fated or that there is a plan for life that one must follow and live based on
it. The movie Forrest Gump(1994) directed by Robert Zemeckisis an existentialism
movie because the movie shows the existentialism theme of freedom and choice as
the main character Forrest Gump played by Tom Hankswas born without a purpose in
life and he makes his own decisions throughout the movie for himself while facing
many conflicts and, he was responsible for his action.
The movie Forrest Gump is about the life events and journey of a man whose name
is also the title of the movie. Although Forrest Gump faces many conflicts in his
life, however, he never allows any of his problems to stand between the things he
wants in his life. As a young kid Forrest had to wear braces on his legs, he had a
below average IQ of seventy five, and later he even got shot in Vietnam during the
war, but Forrest Gump was always persistent that better things will happen. This is
because while Forrest Gump faces many obstacles in his life, he always manages
to turn each bad situation into something better for himself. For example, when
Forrest Gump was being chased by his bullies he discovers that he can run faster
than most people and gets his braces off from his legs. This skill, being able to run
faster than most people, allows Forrest Gump to escape his bullies from his
childhood but also helps him to get a football scholarship to college,

The Five Major Compounds That Make Up the Human Body
The human body is one of the most complex and fascinating things on this planet.
There are five major groups of compounds that compose the human body. These are
carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleotides, and water. These compounds are all very
important to humans and without them humans would not be able to survive.
Compounds have many functions that encourage a human cell and a human body to
function.
Compounds are pure substances made up of atoms of two or more elements
chemically combined together in fixed ratios determined by mass. When a compound
is formed from its components, a chemical change takes place through chemical
reactions. Elements form compounds to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lipid molecules are most well known as forming basic structures of cell
membranes and as energy storage molecules as well. There are various types of
lipids, three main types include: true fats (triglycerides), phospholipids, and steroids.
Lipids are also described as fatty acids. Fatty acids are merely carboxylic acids with
long hydrocarbon chains. The fatty acid structure is one of the most fundamental
categories of biological lipids, and is commonly used as a building block of more
structurally complex lipids. Fats that include these molecules are unsaturated fats.
Other fatty acids have no double bonds. Fats that include these fatty acids are
saturated fats. In most human health situations, the consumption of unsaturated fats
is preferred to the consumption of saturated fats. Like carbohydrates, lipids can also
be categorized into simple and complex.
Simple lipids are defined as those that are on hydrolysis yield at most two types of
primary product per mole; complex lipids yield three or more primary hydrolysis
products per mole. Hydrolysis is a chemical process in which a certain molecule is
split into two parts by the addition of a molecule of water . Alternatively, the terms
neutral and polar lipids respectively are used to define these groups, but are less
exact. The complex lipids for many purposes are best considered in terms of either
the glycerophospholipids which contains a

Michigan Wolverines Big Ten Conference (2014 record: 5 7) Head Coach: Jim
Harbaugh Offense: After one of the worse season s in recent memory, the
Michigan Wolverines needed a big change. That big change turned out to be the
hiring of Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, former NFL coach of the San Francisco
49ers and former All American QB at Michigan. For years, fans and boosters have
been screaming for a coach who personifies Wolverines football. Now they have
their man. His first task will be trying to revive an offense that went to sleep in
2014, scoring a meager 20.9 PPG on a total of 333 YPG. With the loss of starting QB
Devin Gardner (1,896 yards passing, 10 TDs) and leading receiver Devin
Funchness (733 yards receiving, 4 TDs), Coach Harbaugh starts a new era in
Michigan football with a couple of junior running backs and a few returning
offensive lineman as the basis of the team s 2015 offense. Harbaugh acknowledges
this is going to be a rebuilding process and hopefully fans will give him time to
employ his own experience. For now, his offense will revolve around two talented
RBs who shared time in 2014. The team s leading rusher was De Veon Smith who
had a total of 519 yards and 6 TDs. He will be competing for playing time with
Derrick Green who had 471 yards and 3 TDs. With 7 QBs listed on the roster, the
starting QB role will most likely be determined by who is able to show leadership
qualities during practice before the season starts.... Show more content on

Store and Dispose of Products Safely Take care to store products away from the
area where services are provided. Make sure that tops are on tight. When seals on
products have been compromised, store in containers that prevent product vapors
from evaporating into the air. Place empty product containers in metal trash cans with
lids to prevent further off gassing. Dump trash in an outside receptacle at least once
daily to avoid fumes from the small amount of product that may be left in the
containers.
4. Use Ventilated Tables Make sure every technician has a work table with an exhaust
fan vented to the outside. Providing this kind of ventilation will immediately pull
particles that result from sanding and grinding of nails to the outside.
5. Filter the Air Continually Wearing a dust mask is an excellent safety precaution for
a technician when filing artificial nail enhancements. That mask does nothing to
protect clients and other people in the shop. It also does not eliminate vapors and
chemicals fumes.
Using a purifier with both a high efficiency particle arresting (or HEPA) air purifier
to take out fine particulates, and a carbon based filter to remove chemical vapors
from acetone based products, solvents, glues, and disinfecting agents is the best way
to keep the air in your nail salon clean and healthy for
13. The Flea John Donne
This quote is from John Donne s The flea .
In this quote, it stated in the beginning, lines of 1 7 exemplifies the flea sucking
the blood of the speaker and his wife. The action of the flea to suck the speaker and
his wife s blood inspired the speaker to invite his wife to engage in physical love.
The poem displays the couple s relationship before they were married, showing the
wife s refusal to interlock in physical love with him because she was afraid to lose
her honor and reputation. Her innocence jilted before marriage would cause her to
lose her acceptability and dignity. She also believed engaging physical love before
marriage was illicitly wrong and would be seen as committing an act of sin.

18. Importance Of Graphic Design
The career that I am researching is graphic design. A graphic designer helps to
make an organization recognizable by using a variety of mediums to communicate
a particular idea or identity to be used in advertising and promotions. Some
examples of things that graphic designers create/do are; colours, fonts, animations,
photography, print designs, logos, images, pictures, and billboards. They use a
variety of design elements to help an advertisement, brochure, magazine, or
corporate report be artistically appealing and stand out. They also collaborate
closely with other graphic designers, writers, programmers, artists, or other creative
people in order for their projects to be as appealing as possible. Graphic designis
important to society because it gives organizations and companies a face. It allows
the consumer to have feelings about a product just by looking at it. The
importance of graphic design is only increasing because with the growing reach of
technology, it is extremely important for a company to be noticed. A typical day
working as a graphic designer involves meetings, creating your project, revising
your project, and presentations. Graphic design is not a physically strenuous job
and is a job that people of all body types can do.
Many personal traits are required for a person to be a successful graphic designer.
Some of these traits are; artistic skills, creativity, strong verbal, visual, and written
communication skills, ability to work independently and

circumstance that resulted into Constantine s victory in Milvian Bridge is the
morale of Constantine s army in comparison to the morale of Maxentius army.

Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence, Remembering Babylon, and Puddn head Wilson all
contain numerous references to borders of various kinds, both literal and figurative.
Focusing on two of the above texts, answer the following question: what do these
borders represent?
The ideas of borders, boundaries and border crossings are increasingly employed
in a metaphorical sense that does not always refer to the physical border. These
borders are progressively used to represent social and cultural boundaries. A
cultural border indicates that a more powerful side constructs it s own cultural
knowledge and has added political power and privileges. When understanding the
concept of borders, it is important to understand that borders are being referred to in
a literal sense and in a figurative sense. The term literal can be referred to as taking
words in their most basic sense without adding exaggeration or metaphorical
meaning. The term figurative can be described to as departing from the literal use of
words and adding metaphorical meaning. Figurative notions of borders within race
have been a primary concern for the novels Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence by Doris

this essay will explore in detail the concept of figurative borders within the two
novels. Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence and Remembering Babylon have numerous
21. The Music Of Rock And Roll
In the 1950 s a new type of music emerged in the United States. Rock and Roll was
here to stay. Rock musicians not only addressed contemporary events, they pushed
the conventional musical boundaries. Rock and Roll had a significant impact on
politics, the music industry, and pop culture in the United States during the 1960 s.
Music of the 1960 s often challenged political authority directly and unambiguously.
Rock musicians found themselves considering political involvement through their
art. Even musicians who attempted to avoid commentary found themselves
considering politics as a subject of their work. When rock artists considered this
they made the risk of having their art censored. An attack on an artist s free speech
on rock music dates back to the beginning of rock music in the 1950s. This
censorship is because of the great power and influence rock music has politically.
The riots of 1968 revealed a society fundamentally divided over war, race, and
equality, and music both engaged and reflected those conflicts. Rock and Roll became
connected to a generation against American actions and social conditions which
violated the nations supposed beliefs. Rock music also sparked an anti war
movement during the time of the Vietnam War becoming a hub for cultural and
political conflict and dialog. The music also mirrored the increasingly great number
of young men drafted into the Army. By early 1968 there were 550,000 combat
troops in Vietnam. Another form

The Renaissance was a period of the rebirth of the art and learning styles based on
Greco Roman inspiration. These ideas had been lost in Europe due to the Dark
Ages. The Renaissance began in the 1300s, and it reached its crowning point during
the 1500s. During this time, trading was thriving, and this allowed for innovative
ideas to spread. Trade routes from the Middle East and far East brought
mathematical and scientific advancements to Europe. The profits from trade allowed
prosperous merchants to support artists to create new works of art. The rebirth was
also included the influence of new ways of looking at the world. Also during this
time artists and writers switched their attention towards an individualistic point of
view. By incorporating new skills in their creations, they were able to express a
humanismaspect. This was an era of great revolution in political, social, economic, and

Ideals in the Renaissance involved the significance of an individual, which was

throughout the Renaissance, education was an important factor. During this time, the
24. The Orign of Bones Essay
Haller (1763) injected a clear fluid into the periosteum showing that the origin of
bone is the artery carrying the blood and in it the mineral elements putting forward
the idea that the cardiovascular system was responsible for bone formation. This was
supported by the previous work of Hunter (1754)
Pritchard (1946) studied what triggers osteogenesis: the same stimulus causing
inflammation or mechanical stress. How was the study conducted? Pritchard (1946)
suggested osteogenesis is a result of humoral stimulus not mechanical in relation to
the skull vault.

He initially determined the cellular sequence of bone remodelling as endothelial cells,
intermediate cells, osteoblasts, osteocytes and osteoclast and that the capillary

bone formation.
Lindholm et al. (1964) were aware, from previous studies, that mast cells transfer
calcium ions to different tissues. They counted the variation in mast cell number
between 400 Wistar rats with a fractured leg. Histological samples of the callus were
treated using led acetate fixation and toluidine blue staining to enable the visibility of
the mast cells under a light microscope. Their study showed that mast cell counts

They suggest that degranulation of these cells as being an essential process in bone

This week we only had class on Thursday to talk about seven and nine year olds.
We finished reading the chapters in the book Development of Children and
Adolescants. We met with our group to talk about our group paper over fathers
and if they are necessary. Play is important for children because they are still at the
age where exploring and engaging fully in play is still funtional. By the time of
seven to nine year olds, board games, educational games, and sports are starting to
become the full range of play for them. Not everything needs to be hands on.

26. Information Behaviour of Middle School Students Essays
The 21st century school library is the hub of student learning with librarians helping
with research, encouraging students to read for enjoyment and developing their
information literacy skills. All these aspects are important for the current generation
of students who have been raised with easy familiarity with video games, email,

They like to multi task by using various applications, they enjoy group activities
and the social aspect of learning by collaborating with eachother (Roehl et al.,
2013, pp. 44 45). School librarians must take into consideration the fact that
technology is a natural part of everyday life of the middle schooler. As digital
natives , middle schoolers have quite a distinctive learning style for school
librarians to take into consideration when preparing an information literacy lesson.
Middle schoolers are active, innovative, visual and global learners. Middle
schoolers are active learners due to the fact that they learn by completing activities,
participating in groups, plus they dislike sitting still (Roehl et al., 2013, p. 45).
They are innovative as they enjoy creating their own original projects and they are
bored with repetition. (Carroll, 2011, p. 28). They are visual learners as they prefer
real life demonstrations, as well as, looking at images, photos and videos to reading
texts (Ercegovac, 2012, p. 98). They like to gather information quickly and instantly,
meanwhile dismissing details or complicated searching techniques like Boolean logic.
They are not concerned with finding information from authoritative, reliable websites,

27. Teen Violence And Media Analysis
Recent school shootings and youth cause homicides have increased majorly since
the media and its violence have become an everyday thing for us. America has the
largest number of juvenile arrests for violent acts as of 2015 (Louise 1). The media
has impacts on teens whether we see it or not. Violence in our society has
skyrocketed since media has become a main source of info. Studies have proven that
violencein the media has a larger impact on teens than we realize. Media violence
does contribute to teen violence by exposing teens to violent heroes on tv, and
increasing violence as a part of their coverage and sharing more violent tv shows and
segments.

28. Shakespeare Sonnet 138
Justifying Mutual Deceit A common conception of William Shakespeare s poetry
entails complex language and hidden meanings. Shakespeare is famous for his
ability to author a web of images that creates layers of interpretations and
understandings. In Sonnet 138 however, Shakespeare is more direct in describing his
relationship with his lover by avoiding imagery and metaphors, explaining to the
reader that this seemingly unconventional relationship is indeed justified.
Shakespeare constructs a persona of the speaker in a way that establishes a casual
and conversational relationship with the reader. This allows for an open disclosure of
the mutual hypocrisies between himself and his lover while leaving his steadfast
candor to convince the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare makes sure the reader comprehends this different definition of love
through straightforward and conversational language, simply stating that ...love s
best habit is in seeming trust (11) and in our faults by lies we flattered be (14).
Shakespeare s speaker tells the reader everything they need to know about the
relationship, including the mutual hypocrisies on the surface, and aptly explains the
reasons for them so that the reader can understand this self serving idea of comfort
and love. Shakespeare is asserting that love is not set in stone, but fluctuates based
on the differing needs of individuals and couples. Since both parties involved in this
relationship are receiving what they desire, they form a perfect bond, and the reader
accepts this bond because the speaker honestly and sincerely explains its functionality.
The mood of the speaker is also vital for the reader s understanding of the poem. As
the poem begins, the speaker seems to be defensive about his position in the
relationship, making sure the reader knows that he understands that his lady is
unfaithful, and when the speaker asserts that if he understands false subtleties, of
course he can see through his lady s lies. In the second quatrain, the

Highlights of my activities:
As a part of the required activities for the course EGR9220 Teaching in Higher
Education Practicum at Villanova University, I have had the opportunity to teach a
few sessions for CEE2105 for fall semester 2017, supervised by Dr. David Dinehart.
On Wednesday November 1st, I recorded two lectures to be posted on the
blackboard and viewed by students prior to their in class session on the following
Friday and Monday. I received the PowerPoint slides for those recorded session
from Dr. Dinehart, however, added certain material to them with his consent. In
particular, I added a nine step problem solving procedure to be implemented during
in class sessions, 37 and 38. The total duration of the recorded sessions was about 26
minutes. The first recording was titled Centroids of the composite areas , and the
second recording was titled Centroid of composite areas, lines, and volumes .
On Friday November 3rd, I instructed two in class problem solving sessions from
8:30 AM to 9:20 AM, and from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM, both on the topic of
centroids of composite areas. From the two in class sessions, the second session
was recorded and posted on the blackboard webpage as well. The problems and
solutions for both sessions were provided by Dr. Dinehart, and per his request, I tried
my best to comply with his formatting in writing of the material on the touchscreen.
At the end of both sessions, questionnaires that were previously designed by myself

31. Ethnicity And Communication Paper
The characterisation of race and the manipulation of cultural difference are issues that
have propelled the study of intercultural and international communication (Halualani
et al, 2009). The communication process between individuals of differing cultural
backgrounds is complex and often hindered by psychological processes such as
ethnocentrism, historical prejudice and stereotyping (Kim, 2001: 7). This paper will
discuss these intercultural and international communication issues with reference to
American anti Japanese propaganda from World War II (WWII). It will first introduce
the artefacts and then use them to illustrate race, othering and Orientalism as issues
that specifically relate to the communication process. It is apparent that these... Show

The issues discussed in relation to the artefacts relate directly to critical perspectives,
as this school seeks to understand the role of power and contextual constraints on
communication in order to achieve a more equitable society (Nakayama Halualani,

emerge in historical contexts, within institutional and political forces and social
norms , and how intercultural communication relations are constrained and enabled
by institutions, ideologies, and histories (Collier, 2002, pp.1 2). Thus, these issues
relate directly to international and intercultural relations as they demonstrate how
mechanisms of communication are used deliberately to separate publics and create

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE The researcher has found the following

early childhood classrooms and it has been consistently associated with teacher
effectiveness in early childhood classrooms (Bowman et al., 2001; de Kruif et al.,

and helpful, but to be truly professional and effective they need other qualities.

effective than another but we need to be able to identify the skills and behavior we
require in a true professional. Teachers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

characteristics , including personality traits and individual attitudes, which she then
classified into five groups: a) Professionalism: commitment, confidence,
trustworthiness, respect;. b) Thinking: analytic and conceptual thinking; c)
Expectations: disposal of achievement of high objectives, disposal for permanent
comprehension of reality (e.g. the students, the order), and undertaking of
initiatives; d) Leadership: flexibility, accountability, passion for learning; e)

familiarization with techniques that are then used mechanically, but also as the
acquisition of routines which, without a doubt, every teacher needs in order to

they refer to a set of theoretical principles and research data that lead to a variety of
techniques and strategies which a teacher chooses and shapes, depending on the
circumstances (for the discussion on teacher skills as an element of professional

The Franco Prussian War is a suitable war for Crisis because it was a military
disaster that could have easily been avoided, created the French Third Republic, and

sphere of influence and join the German Federation, completing German unification.
In fact, King Wilhelm I of Prussiawas crowned the Emperor of Germanyat the Hall of

of this would have happened if the French did not blunder at the Battles of Metz and

reputable movie sites, we were able to generate numerous prediction and

previous literature have covered on the two topics we wanted to investigate. The
literature review gave us a clear pathway to follow in terms of where to collect

type of results to expect. There were a few movie sites that were used that were

We decided to keep movies in the dataset that were English and from the USA. We
also wanted to only include movies that were released in USA and abroad. The
data we did not need was filtered out and the data features that were not pre release
were removed. When it came to predicting the worldwide box office revenue, we
wanted to use linear regression and SVM. This was because many researchers had
used these techniques. When using linear regression we realised that our data
needed transforming as the linear regression assumptions were violated. The Box
Cox transform we used transformed our dependent variables and worked well. The
assumptions of the linear regression were met. The forward selection procedure
used helped identify which variables were good predictors in the models. Linear
regression has certain assumptions, so in order to not violate those assumptions, it
is crucial to pick the best variables for the model. The best model we found using
this procedure met all the assumptions and gave good prediction accuracies. The
results obtained from the linear regression and SVM models indicated that the
accuracies all of the models were very high. Linear regression and SVM achieved
similar results with SVM just slightly achieving better accuracy rates As we were
predicting box office revenue using pre release data only, the accuracies of 80% plus
were a good surprise. Transforming the worldwide box office revenue
35. One Solution to Global Overfishing Analysis
The first thing that comes to one s mind when fish is mentioned is usually, smelly,
nasty, or to some, delicious. In a nutritional aspect, fish is a top priority in a diet
because of the protein that it has. Many people fish for food, or just for leisure.
Overfishing mainly started in the 19th century, when humans started looking for
blubber for oil lamps, which they used for light during the night. When humans
started overfishing for the whale blubber it severely reduced and damaged the whole
population of the sea life. In the fishpopulation, many fish such as the Atlantic cod
and herring were overfished to the point where they almost went extinct by the mid
1900 s. The depletion of the fish population disrupted the aquatic food... Show more

There have been many incidents where innocent lifeguards and individuals have
been attacked by sharks and other dangerous fish while spending time in waters.
The overfishing of the shark s prey has causes this. This is a very dangerous issue as
it may take many lives away for nothing.
Another major cause is the subsides provided to fishermen from the government.
Despite the depleted state of the oceans, many governments provide major subsidies
to their fishing sectors. According to The Webster Merriam Dictionary, a subsidy is
money that is paid usually by a government to keep the price of a product or service
low or to help a business or organization to continue to function. Subsidies not only
distort markets and support uneconomic activities, but also are a major incentive to
overfishing and other destructive fishing practices. These large subsidies have helped
produce a worldwide fishing fleet that is up to 250 percent larger than what is needed
to fish at sustainable levels (Fisheries Subsidies, Overcapacity and Overfishing,
2008). Some subsidies support beneficial programs, such as management and research
for overfishing. However, the majority of subsidies influence the increase and
intensity of overfishing. These subsidies include those that reduce costs or enhance
revenues and promote overcapacity, such as support for boat construction and
modernization, fuel, equipment, and other operating costs (EcoWatch, 2011). Another
36. Rise Of The Mafia Essay
It was during the troubled years of the 1860s that the Italian kingdom s ruling class
ruling class first heard talk of the mafia in Siciliy (Dickie, s38, 2004). In this quote
we find a potential reason to why the idea that the mafia was born during the making
of the modern Italian state has become leading with scholars. Most likely this event
shaped the mafiainto what it has become because of the political influence that the
Italian state bestowed upon Sicily. However, it is not unlikely that the mafia wasn t
already existing in Sicily during this time, and most definitely that criminal gangs of
Sicily before this time had traits that were transferred into the mafia as it evolved
under the new Italian kingdom. While the mafia is largely... Show more content on

Ermanno Sangiorgi was the police chief in Palermo at the time and he wrote an
extensive report on the mafia of Sicily between 1898 1900 that would be the basis
for the arrest and trial of 89 mafia members, among them Antonino Giammona.
However, due to the political landscape at the time, most were released and only 32
criminals were convicted of belonging to a criminal network, i.e. the mafia. One of
the people which Dickie points his fingers to as a possible villain in the story is
Vincenzo Cosenza, the chief prosecutor (Dickie 2004). Cosenza had written to the
new Minister of the Interior and declared, During the course of performing my
duties I have never noticed the mafia (Dickie, p110, 2004). This reveals a disturbing
fact concerning the relationship between the mafia and the Italian state, namely that
the mafia had already gained ground in the politics of the state and that the notion of
the non existing mafia became a leading viewpoint in Italian politics. The reason to
why this claim hold some validation is that the politicians, or higher ups, such as a
prosecutor, managed to influence a police case to the extent that leading Mafioso s
such as Antonino Giammona was released and could resume their

William Gibson s Neuromancer, and The Matrix by The Wachowskis both depict a
society in which humans are under constant manipulation by indispensable machines.
In Neuromancer, the protagonist Case is indirectly manipulated by a powerful
Artificial Intelligence named Wintermute. In The Matrix, majority of the human
population lives within a computer simulated world, run by machines. However, both
storylines ultimately depict the fact that manipulation takes origin within the
individual rather than another entity, as both protagonists are frequently manipulated
due to flaws in their own character. These character flaws are not individual, rather,
they are representative of all humans. Thus, Neuromancer and The Matrixboth

In both instances, the audience is intentionally lead by false interpretations, as to
prove that individuals are constantly being manipulated unbeknownst to them.
Neuromancer demonstrates this omnipresence of manipulation, as the audience is
controlled by the author himself. Throughout the novel, Gibson s distinct word
choice not only encapsulates the audience, but also forces the novel to be read
from a certain perspective. For example, Gibson describes the atmosphere of
Ninsei, by saying By day, the bars down Ninsei were shuttered and featureless, the
neon dead, the holograms inert, waiting, under the poisoned silver sky (Gibson 7).
Gibson could simply have stated that the street was dark, and the sky was cloudy.
However, he makes the conscious effort of wording the sentence with metaphors,
and analogies in order to convey the cynical perspective from which the audience is
to observe the story. The impact of word choice is shown again in The Matrix, as an
agent justifies its horrific intentions by saying Human beings are a disease, a cancer
of this planet. You are a plague, and we are the cure (The Matrix). The agent is able to
rationalize its intent, through the use of euphemisms. Similar to the characters of
both the novel and the movie, the audience is manipulated, by the author, because
they are unaware.
Manipulation is a result of human ignorance; individuals who are unaware of their
society, are prone to manipulation. In Neuromancer,

UNDERSTANDING DISABILITY STEREOTYPING AND POPULAR
MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT DISABILITY.
Having a physical disability is a stigmatised attribute that is usually associated with
stereotypes of incompetence. As a result of these stereotypes, individuals often
experience economic and medical disadvantages(Roeher Institute,1996). People with
disability are less likely to hold a job because employers tend to judge these
individuals by their perceived limitations, rather than their actual abilities and
potential.
Evidently, the first thing that comes to mind when disability is mentioned is a
wheelchair because of the symbol that is used to represent it. Yet only 5% of
disabled people do actually use wheelchairs.
Under the Equality Act 2010 (Great Britain). A person is considered to be disable if
they have a physical impairment which has a substantial and long term adverse effect
on their ability to perform normal day to day activities. Disability can be classified
into two types: Physical impairment and Mental impairments .
Physical impairments include anything from loss of a limb, sensory
impairment(paralysis), blindness, deafness and generally everything that alters
physical appearance and performance of an individual.
Mental impairments include learning disabilities such as Down syndrome,

Managing individual behavior affects the realization of individual and group goals
and this makes it necessary to shape behaviors in a way that supports the realization
of specific goals (Bunn, 2013). Motivation is an important area of management as it
helps managers to understand how to influence behaviors positively in a workplace
environment (Louis, 2015). My experience as a team leader led to motivation. This

Competition and rivalry have the ability to make people shine and accomplish
things they never thought possible, and the ability to bring a person s dark side
and get them to do terrible things. Phineas and Gene s friendship is viewed very
differently by each of them. Where Phineas sees Gene as his best friend Gene sees
Phineas as a competitor. Gene sees him as someone trying to keep him from being
successful in school. This warped view of their relationship is the cause of many of
the eventual problems of the novel and arguably the death of Phineas.
Competition between peers makes people strive to try and be better than their
opponents, and can be healthy or unhealthy depending on the competitors and their
responses to the competition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes this causes built up resentment and eventually could cause both of the
friends to be hurt because of one rash decision like shaking a tree branch. While
only Phineas was physically hurt Gene was in an emotional battle with himself
about what he has done to Finny and what he thinks of him. Eventually the other
boys at Devon find out Gene shook the tree branch, which causes them to lose
respect of him. The thought of shaking Phineas out of a tree would have never
normally crossed Gene s mind but him viewing Phineas as a competitor instead of a
friend made the idea seem fine for the split second it took for him to shake the
branch. The idea hit him just like when he thinks about stealing the doctor s car. He
only even thinks about shaking the limb for an instant, a single life changing
moment, and with some kind of blind impulse , as Phineas describes it, he shakes the
branch. In contrast when he idly considered stealing a car even if he thinks about it
for a second he can decide not to after the first few steps. Once the tree branch is
shaken Phineas fate is sealed. Competition and rivalry can cause people to replace
trust in each other with protection from each other and cause them to build up walls
to separate and protect themselves from their competitors. Not everyone constructs
these fortresses of secrets and distrust. Some people are open and trusting of
44. The War On Terror ( Wot )
The War on Terror (WoT), also known as the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT),
refers to the international military campaign that started after the September 11
attacks on the United States.[47]
U.S. President George W. Bush first used the term War on Terror on 20 September
2001.[47] The Bush administration and the western media have since used the term
to argue a global military, political, legal, and conceptual struggle against both
organizations designated terrorist and regimes accused of supporting them. It was
originally used with a particular focus on countries associated with Islamic terrorism
organizations including al Qaeda and like minded organizations.
In 2013, President Barack Obama announced that the United States was no longer
pursuing a War on Terror, as the military focus should be on specific enemies rather
than a tactic. He stated, We must define our effort not as a boundless Global War on
Terror , but rather as a series of persistent, targeted efforts to dismantle specific
networks of violent extremists that threaten America. [48]
The phrase War on Terror has been used to specifically refer to the ongoing military
campaign led by the U.S., UK and their allies against organizations and regimes
identified by them as terrorist, and excludes other independent counter terrorist
operations and campaigns such as those by Russia and India. The conflict has also
been referred to by names other than the War on Terror.

46. Is America Racist Or Fair
Racism in America: Are America s police racist or fair?
Since the recent close of year, 2015 experiences has been very important in the
national conversation, specially racism. This year has been fateful for the black
community, considering that 102 unarmed American Africans were killed by the
police. However it is really hard to identify if racism plays a role in these current
police related deaths. There are many people who blame every black man s death,
caused by the police, on racism. On the other hand there are people who believe the
opposite, that racism does not have any role in those cases. But, who is correct?
Most of the people use the fact that more white people are killed by the police than
any other races to protect their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The black man,we can see in the image above, was Eric Garner, who was stopped by
the police for selling cigarettes. Although the individual was not aggressive or
threatening, before police stopped him, the situation quickly worsened when four
officers tackled him to the ground and mounted him. said a citizen He eventually
suffocated to death.
On the contrary, the white man that appears in the image, killed nine innocent
people and was: arrested by several police handling him politely, even securing him
from the media and providing him with a bulletproof vest. These actions created a
great revolt between the local police and the black community who were digging for
answers which were never found.
Which side is correct? In this case no one is correct because we can not judge a
group of people due to one person s actions. There are definitely racist policemen
out there, just like there are racist bankers or politicians. It is impossible to stop
people being racist, but they can change their system, show the youngest ones that we
should respect every race and always remember that Beneath the armor of skin and
bone and mind most of our colors are amazingly the same.
47. Silver Nitrate Lab
Our theoretical yield of Silver is 0.370 g, and our actual yield is 0.351 g. To begin
with, I was amazed of the process of making silver from a little piece of metal and
silver nitrate solution even though it took 3 days to complete this lab. On the first
day, Michael mostly did all the measurements and testing, while Mai and I was
responsible for the calculations, including taking pictures and recording down the
data. Firstly, our group balanced out the chemical equation, which is very
important for the later steps of our procedure. The equation is
1Cu+2AgNO3Cu(NO3)2 +2Ag ( you can see how to balance it out in the procedure
and we are using Copper II for this lab). Moreover, we weighted the copper metal and
the scale showed that it was at 0.109g.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We got 0.583g as our theoretical yield of silver nitrate, but due to our clumsiness,
we scoped out about 0.593 g of silver nitrate. Compared the amount of silver nitrate
that we have and the amount that we needed, Silver nitrate ( AgNo3) is our excess
reactant and copper is our limiting reactant, which we will using it to find out our
theoretical yield of how much silver that we should have make. There is one thing
I wanted to mention that we use distilled water instead of tap water because in tap
water, it contain other compound such as mineral, or Calcium, etc. Therefore, we
do not want any of those to be reacted with our solution and silver, we want to
produce pure silver. Next step is we placed the copper metal inside the silver
nitrate solution, the color started to change into light aqua blue. After we decanted
the solution and dried the silver with the incubator, we weighted the silver and it
was at 0.351 g. Compared to our theoretical yield, we should have made 0.370 g of
silver, but instead we made 0.351 g of
