Today s Internet companies such as Facebook, Amazon and Google collect and analyze vast
volumes of data in real time to trigger advertising to their users pages. Today, many big data
environments are using Hadoop as the distributed storage and distributed processing of large
datasets using clusters of commodity hardware. These solutions can scale out from a single
server to thousands of servers. Big Data is changing the way business decisions are made. It is
no longer a passing fad and if companies are not extracting insights from the data collected, they
will be left behind by their competition. Supporting Big Data Projects Big data requires clusters
of servers to support the many software tools needed to process and analyze large volumes of
structured and unstructured data. Consequently, IT organizations are looking to private cloud
computing as the IT architecture to support big data projects. Cloud computing services are
available in three business models public, private or hybrid. In the public cloud model, services
are delivered over the Internet and sold on demand. Public cloud provides the ability to scale on
demand, offering users tremendous flexibility and agility. Private cloud services are delivered from
the enterprise s data center to internal users. This model offers enterprises versatility, and unlike
public cloud, the enterprise s

(Walmart, 2012) The company announced a $750 million, 73 store expansion plan in early 2012. A.
Country Competitiveness A large multinational company such as Walmart experiences different
opportunities and challenges in the countries in which it does business. Walmart being the largest
retailer in the world, must adapt to varying business environments. Canada s competitiveness
relative to Walmart s expansion is viewed through Porter s diamond framework. Country Level
Determinants The passage of NAFTA represented an enticing opportunity for Walmart to capitalize
on the discount store industry, of which only Zellers and K Mart had a presence in. NAFTA also
paved the road for Walmart s expansion into Canada. The agreement had the intention of creating
job and economic growth as well as eliminating tariffs and controls on goods transported amongst
the three countries. This phenomenon of internationalization created openness and capability for
Walmart to capitalize on goods production in one country, followed by movement and sales in the
other. Moreover, currency valuation in present day represents an opportunity for retailers to expand
into the Canadian market. Due to the strong Canadian dollar, the economic conditions are enticing
for any retailer looking to expand a key reason why Target has transitioned into the market. At the
time of acquisition, Woolworth took ownership of the $45 million

Separation Of Power Essay
When our country is faced with severe war debts, currency with no value, and no taxes to fund
our country in order to prevent our country from forcing our country and denizens into
bankruptcy we will issue several requirements and orders. First there will be uniform currency
across the country which will be converted from metals to paper. Each state will be responsible
for the taxation of their citizens, while the Federal government will be liable for taxing the states
and their citizens in order to maintain a functioning government. Congress shall be held
responsible for the coining of money and deciding its value, which will be agreed upon based in if

represented by two houses known as the House of Representatives and Senate. The House of
Representatives will represent the states by population. For every two hundred citizens in each

state. The houses shall be known as Congress. Congress will create laws based on the needs of
the states and the nation as a whole. When voting on the law, the law must receive two thirds
votes in both houses. Once moved on from the houses, the law moves to the executive branch
where the president will either pass or veto the law. If the law is vetoed, the law must go back to

Women In Arthurian Mythology
Arthurian legends may seem to only depict knights in shining armor saving damsels in distress or
powerful kings with queens sitting idly by their sides, but upon closer inspection, those women
were not as delicate as initially portrayed. In fact, there were many influential women who played
critical roles in the men s decisions. Significant ones included the Lady of the Lake, the moon
goddess, Morgan Le Fay, the all powerful fairy, and Guinevere, the mere mortal that everybody
envied because of her beauty. All three were beautiful enchantresses characterized by being
shrouded in mystery, refusing to reveal the true intentions behind their deliberate actions. Yet
behind each, there were complex backgrounds of where they came from and how they came to be.
The Lady of the Lake was a hooded figure so shrouded by mystery, her name is not even known
to this day. Some speculated names were Nimue, Vivien, or even Morgan Le Fay. She was said to
be a water nymph ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Cunneware, it meant female wisdom and in Welsh it meant white enchantress. Guinevere was
the daughter of King Leodegrance but was sent off to get married to King Arthur. Her love for
Arthur was said to have everything but passion which was why she took up a lover who was
also Arthur s best friend and best knight, Lancelot. This affair lasted for many years, but not
without suspicion from others, until Arthur stopped turning a blind and reluctantly sentenced her
to being burned at the stake. In the nick of time, Lancelot saved her from a horrible death and
leaves her to lock herself in the Tower of London where she wore the nun s veil and where she
was supposedly buried. Guinevere was a symbol of sovereignty. All who wanted to take power had
abducted her before their reign and had become rulers while all that lost her lost their power. For
example, this happened to Arthur, Lancelot, and Mordred. This is one of the reasons why many
people blamed Arthur s downfall on

Struggles In Haiti Earthquake
Struggles in Haitin I bet all of you think that going to school is a pain but that is nowhere close to
all the problems Haiti is going through. Haiti has been going through many problems such as a
failing economy, natural disasters, and degrading environment. Most of Haiti s problems start with
the natural disasters such as the earthquakes and the hurricanes. The junior scholastic notes that the
hurricane Mathews hit Haitilast October carrying winds of 145 miles per hour. This hurricane
carried away almost everything in its path. It killed 1000 and left 175000 people home less,
mentions the junior scholastic. Meanwhile the earthquakewas no different, the junior scholastic
states that the earthquake of 2010 killed 316000 and displaced 1.5 million people. The earthquake

vaccines, ranging from the age of 4 months to 13 years old. During each appointment, I was able to
observe how the nurseinteracted with them, for example using a high pitched voice for the baby
and being more playful for the older children. I was also able to observe the nurse preparing and

The Importance Of Purebred Dogs
Purebred Dogs Beauty and the Beast Purebred dogs are big business. There will always be
demand for the cute, little Yorkshire terrier, or the easy going Labrador retriever. As long as there
is demand, there will be people breeding dogs. There are currently 340 recognized dog breeds
around the world, and the American Kennel Club recognizes 167 of those breeds (1). The
Westminster Kennel Club dogshow shines a spotlight on purebred dogs, with the winners
representing the standard of that breed. The problem is, the standard of dog breeds keep changing,
and with those changes, dogs are suffering. The American Kennel Club (AKC) sets the standard
for each breed of dog recognized in the U.S by providing a specific set of requirements for height,...

Causes Of Mfecane
Explaining Mfecane as a multipolar cause and showing the flaws in the unipolar cause schools of
thought.
Introduction.
During the 1820 s the southern area of Africa went through a drastic population growth and radical
social, political changes, economic and ecological changes. This period was characterised as a
period of migration, battles, food deprivation, and suffering for most of the kingdoms of Southern
Africa . This period of wars and migration in Africa become known as Mfecane. There are many
schools of thought as to why these migrations and wars took place. These schools of thought, are
based on specific causes for the Mfecane. The causes are trade, environmental changes, political
changes and population growth. This essay will, however, argue that there is no unipolar
explanation for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gump, however, has led us away from blaming Mfecane solely on Shaka, since Shaka only comes
after the start of Mfecane, thus could he as a great leader only worsen Mfecane by increasing
the number of wars . Colin Web argued that the reason why Difagane took place was indeed
about, political changes, but what made Web s study different he did not only blame one
kingdom, he argued the causes for Mfecane was due to three strong kingdoms, present at the
same time. These three kingdoms according to Web was known as Sobhuza s Ngwane Dhlamini,
Dingiswayo s Mthethwa and Zwide s Ndwandwe . Thus did Web conclude due to the fact that all
these kingdoms were present at the same time competition ware high and resources were low, this
led to wars and migration often associated with Mfecane. This was possible because in terms of
environment and natural resources the three conquering chiefdoms resembled one another
remarkable close, their lies a strong possibility that if adversity struck one of these chiefdoms it
would strike all three, setting them on similar courses of warfare and

Seneca s Theory Of Ethics Caught My Interest
Born in 1 BCE, Lucius Annaeus Seneca was a Stoic philosopher whose writings cover a vast
range of topics concerning the human experience. The public s conception of stoicism as a
school of philosophy predominantly focused on embracing misfortune without complaint is
somewhat distorted from the actual beliefs its outstanding figures held. Seneca s approach to
ethics caught my interest, after thinking over his arguments, I found myself agreeing with much
of what he had to say, that is if I interpreted it correctly. I believe the principles espoused by the
stoics to be particularly relevant over the past century. The 1920 s is often associated as an age
of materialism, an unsustainable time period inundated with mass consumption and fixated on
pleasure. Perhaps it is not as extreme as then nowadays, I would not know for I was not alive;
however, it feels like we are in a similar climate. Everyone wants the newest products, the new
iPhone that comes out every year, that new pair of shoes, that new videogame system, that new
watch, or that new house, etc. Although we have yet to reach the world described by Aldous
Huxley in that of the literary classic Brave New World, which depicts a society constructed upon
drowning in excess consumption of sex and soma, where John, the savage, is perceived as a
lunatic for his quaint habits of being virtuous. More interesting, is the growing desire to be happy,
this is shown by the increasing amounts of literature and social science

If Offenders, Young People Are Expected Act Like A...
If offenders, young people are expected to act like a standard person of their age. In Mullin v
Richards, 1998, Teresa Mullin and Heidi Richards, who were friends, were sitting next to each
other at a desk in school. While playing fighting with plastic rules, using them as swards, Teresa
Mullin was injured by a fragment of the rule, which snapped and went in her right eye, causing
her to loose most of her eye sight. Teresa sued the school for negligence, as well as Heidy.
However, it was decided by the court that Heidy was expected, as standard, to act like a 15 years
old student, and not like a reasonable adult. Concluding with the judges deciding that Heidy was
not in breach of duty, as she had met the standards of a 15 years old... Show more content on

This causation is identified with the but for test, in other words, but for the defendant s breach of
duty would the damage or injury have occurred? the main case would be Barnett v Chelsea and
Kensington Hospital Management Committee, 1968, where the husband of the claimant went to
the hospital due to strong stomach pain and vomiting. He was sent home after the Accident and
Emergency department refused to examine him. After five hours, he died due to arsenic
poisoning. The hospital owed the man duty of care and were also in breach after refusing to
examine him. However, they were not liable as even if they had conducted the examinations the
man would have died prior the results and treatment. Meaning that he would have died if the
breach was or was not present, as their breach did not cause him to die.
Remoteness of damage consists in establishing whether the offender is liable for only the damages,
if the consequences were foreseeable from the breach of duty. In other words, the judges have to
be able to establish where and when do the consequence act start and finish, as some may be too
remote to be included as they may happen years after if not earlier, depending on the
circumstances. For example, in The Wagon Mound case, a test of reasonable foreseeability was
established. This case consisted in the offender accidently spilling oil in the claimant s wharf, while
he was fueling another ship. At the time, there were welding

Iron Jawed Angels By Katja Von Garnier
Iron Jawed Angels, by Katja von Garnier, is a non fictional drama about a group of women who
do everything they can and will do in order to the women s right to vote during the years

However, sand is not the only material needed for making glass containers. Other materials are
also added to the process to help glass with its working properties at high temperatures and to
provide it with chemical resistance in use(Saint Gobain). In addition to new raw material, Saint
Gobain Containers is also a Green Company which uses as much recycled glass as possible.
Glass is one of the few packaging materials that can be recycled indefinitely (Saint Gobain).
Melting Glass melting is a HOT process. When melting glass a continuous heat of over 2500
degrees Fahrenheit is needed in order to obtain optimal quality. This is done by Saint Gobain
Containers by using reliable energy resources such as natural gas and occasionally fuel oil.
Being a Green Company includes using energy resources which provide low emissions. Natural
gas provides a low emissions level and thus is Saint Gobain Containers main source of heating
energy. This is also less expensive overall when compared to oil fuels. Other energy comes from
an electric boost which is used to operate machinery and air supplies for the heating sources. Using
efficient heating sources has been one of the leading factors in lowering the operating cost of Saint
Gobain Containers in the last two years.

Essay on Critical Thinking
The concepts of critical thinking and creative thinking are both gaining increasing importance in
the world today. Critical thinking allows people to understand difficult concepts in a manner that
is clearer and more defined. They can more readily understand those concepts if they employ
critical thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent
judgments. Those judgments are based on experience and knowledge. Without the ability to think
critically, every situation that a person comes across would have to be considered in isolation
from all other situations. When a person encounters a problem that is a new one, he or she may be
able to use critical thinking to solve those problems. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Critical thinking also helps in decision making. Both problem solving and decision making abilities
are vital to a prosperous business. Persons who are critical thinkers can make a difference in the
companies in which they are employed. Today?s corporations must first recognize that there is a
real need for critical thinkers. It is important for both the top management down the line. Critical
thinking must be taught and built in to the way the company or organization performs its business.
In fact, companies and organizations must embrace the concept of critical thinking. Critical
thinking can lead to success story after success story. This type of impact gives any company or
organization credibility. According to Supon, one of the fundamental purposes of teaching critical
thinking is to enhance the abilities of students to become critical thinkers. Corporate leaders,
educational researchers, employers, and parents have continually pushed teachers to assist their
students in the development of critical thinking ability. Critical thinking is a skill that ?involved not
only knowledge of content by also concept formation and analysis, reasoning and drawing
conclusions, recognizing and avoiding contradiction, and other essential cognitive activities?
(Supon, 1998). There are proposed reasons for the emphasis that is currently on critical thinking.
Many factors can be related to this emphasis. They include the societal factors of economic shifts

Cide In The Rocide Genocide
genocide the deliberate killing to eliminate of a group of people of the same race, religion or
ethnicity. This word is derived from a combination of a Greek word genos ( race or tribe ) and a
Latin word cide ( killing ). In 1994, in the beginning of April, the same has happened in Rwanda. A
genocide.
Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made
up the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%.
Hutus were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and
from rich families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28).
However, these classifications were based on the number of cattle people owned. People who
owned 10 cows or more were considered Tutsi and people with less than 10 cows were considered
Hutu. People could shift from being a Hutu to a Tutsi or vice versa depending on the number of
cattle they had. Before colonization Tutsis and Hutus lived peacefully (Warren 19).
During the colonial period tensions from all corners, politically, educationally and socially were
created such that hatred and violence was harbored in Hutus and they decided to eliminate fellow
Rwandese, Tutsis. The existence of ethnicities itself did not lead to the Tutsi Genocide since they
existed even before the colonial era.

youngsters still can t afford a $2.35 lunch, despite the dramatic expansion of free and reduced lunch
programs (paragraph 1), which demonstrates the struggles that these low income families face when
it comes to buying their student school lunches. Staff working in cafeterias have started to shame
those students by taking away the student s food and giving them a bag containing a cheese
sandwich and milk to those students who are unable to afford their lunch. States such as New
Mexico are taking a stand against school lunch shaming and have banned lunch shaming
completely. Long also explained that, The USDA is urging districts to stop embarrassing and
singling out students who don t have enough money for lunch (paragraph 9), which further
demonstrates the lengths people are going to solve the lunch shaming issues.

Rutgers Education Research Paper
A Rutgers education will not only allow me to grow as a college student but as a person overall.
Graduating from Rutgers will hold a greater value in the outside world when I apply for jobs as
this university has many well known schools like the Business School or the School or Arts and
Sciences. Since Rutgers is well known for their programs, this would allow me to be able to excel
in my major of choice and be able to take different classes that would allow for my knowledge to
grow more than it would at Rowan University. The classes that Rutgers will offer compared to
Rowan would challenge me to work harder and push my limits in order for me to grow and
succeed as a person. Having a Rutgers educationwill help my career goals because while I am there,
I will have many opportunities to join clubs and organizations that interest me. Since I plan on...

Rutgers will help me personally because of how diverse the university is. Having a diverse
group of students in my major would benefit me, since Rutgers has people attending from
different areas of the country/world that have gone through different experiences and I would be
able to learn from them. Rutgers has a population that consists of all types of backgrounds,
which is something that would help me grow as a person due to being exposed to different types
of cultures. This would help me when I get a job since in the business field one needs to have
people skills and since I would be in a diverse school, I will get to meet and interact with different
people as I would when I would have a job. This results in not only being better in academics but
also being a well rounded individual and know how to interact with different races/cultures. All
things considered, having a Rutgers education will help me to better myself as a college student and

The United States And Australia
The United States and Australia are both industrialized countries with both English speaking
populations with challenges of providing health care coverage. Differences and similarities can be

Medicare, Australia s national public health insurance, provides universal health coverage for
citizens and permanent residents in addition to people with temporary visas from countries with
which Australia has reciprocal arrangements. Medicare covers inpatient care in public hospitals
for free or subsidized access to comprehensive medical services (Mossialos et al., 2015). Citizens
may choose to buy private insurance to cover more health care options and to cover items not
covered under Medicare for example ambulance services. Medicare gives Australian residents
access to health care and is partly funded by taxpayers who pay a Medicare levy of 2.0% of their
taxable income (Ato, n.d.). The first contact with health services one may need would involve a
visit to a general practitioner, who may refer the patient to a specialist, diagnostic testing,
medication for the need to in a public hospital. Australia s health care system involves public and
private providers. The government funds the public hospitals, whereas those in the private sector
operate the private hospitals. As of June 2014 over 47% of the population had private health
insurance (PHIAC, 2014). The public perception of the Australian medical system is generally
positive and strongly favors a universal public health system funded by the public (Hardie

In 2002 the European Union agreed that from January 2005 international accounting standards
/international financial reporting standards (IASs/IFRSs) would apply for the consolidated
accounts of the EU listed companies (Barth, Landsman, and Lang, 2008). Starting from 2005, IAS
/IFRS adoption has been mandatory in all the member states of the European Union with the
ultimate goal of increasing transparency in financial reporting. This adoption of IAS/IFRS
therefore represents an extraordinary event for empirical research because evidence shows that the
mandatory adoption of IAS/IFRS in Europe results in better quality of financial reporting. In fact,
empirical studies provide some support to the notion that adopting IAS/IFRS improves the quality
of financial reporting and of public information (Palea, 2013).

Resolving Internal And External Conflicts
Having the skills to resolve internal and external conflicts effectively is one of the biggest
challenges faced by organizations in today s business world. In most cases, to attain success in
conflict issues, mediators are needed. They are vital to success as they act as they act as neutral
parties to analyze a conflict by listening to both parties and coming up with a solution. The
mediator is completely impartial (neutral) person(s) who probably does not know either party,
but will act as a middle man that listens to both sides of the situation from the two and see if
there is any middle ground opportunities for some kind of arrangement, acceptable to both
sides, which will in part or fully help to resolve the situation. By so doing, a mediator functions
as an intermediary. A mediator talks to parties in separate rooms and never allows shouting or
interruption from disputants facing each other. In fact, often there is no need, allowing
disputants to be in the same room at all. The role of the mediator is to shuttle or go between the
parties. However, this paper will describe a work related conflict experience where a mediator
was used to resolve the conflict, define the role of a mediator, explain the types of data a mediator
may choose to gather and analyze when conducting a session to reduce or eliminate the conflict,
assess how the information is utilized in a mediationplan by providing a detailed example of each.
Definition of the Mediator A mediator is

Gender Roles In Argentine Tango And The Music Of Native...
There are hundreds, even thousands of styles music and each style from each place has its own
set of beliefs and traditions. A common tradition and theme in music is the role of men and
women and how each gender is perceived or included in a tradition. Tango is an example of this;
men are supposed to be a strong, masculine, even virile figure who lead the effeminate, submissive
female partner. Another example of genderroles in musicis in the musics of Native Americans and
First Nation people where traditionally only men were able to play the drums in the middle of the
circle at large gatherings such as powwows. There are several other instances our class discussed
in which gender roles helped define a musical tradition, but this short essay will focus primarily on
gender roles within the Argentine tango and the music of Native Americans and First Nation people.

Researchers observed and measured head circumference, saw the inside of brain development to
view important growth within the brain, such as myelin sheath, and in the 1980s, they randomly
selected a small number of mothers to breastfeed their children to eliminate bias and answer the
question with an experiment. In the elementary school years, it was found that the mean difference

Self Government In Canada
Self government is the cornerstone of the Inuit policy goals in the Nunavut region; while self
government is an important goal, the idea is intricately linked to other goals such as land claims
settlements, cultural preservation, and economic development, goals which the people of Nunavut
are finding very hard to meet (Nowland Card, 41). Indigenous people were self governed long
before Europeans arrived in Canada, but in 1876, the Indian Act came into effect, dismantling
traditional governance systems and Indigenous peopleslives (Bc Treaty Commission). Today, the
Federal government recognizes that Indigenous people have an inherent, constitutionally protected
right to self government; a right to manage their own affairs (Bc Treaty Commission).... Show more

But the model of self government offered by the Canadian government leaves the people of
Nunavut financially at the mercy of the Government and thus is impractical and doomed to fail.
The Government still owns a huge amount of the land and makes the final decisions on important
issues. There is still no sovereignty for Indigenous people as their lives are still partly dictated by
the Federal Government. Their lack of any revenue source leads to heavy reliance on the Federal
Government making this method highly unsustainable. Thus, the Indigenous people surrendered
their rights for a failed cause, but one that could potentially see a revival. With the recent devolution
plans in Canada between the Federal Government, the Government of Nunavut and Nunavut
Tunngavik Incorporated, the company in charge of setting out the process of the transfer of land
from the Crown to the Nunavut Government, there is hope for the revival of Nunavut (Devolution
Nunavut). Devolution is important because it brings decision making closer to home, giving
Nunavut a greater say in issues that affect them; final decisions over public land and resource use
will be made in Nunavut and not in Ottawa giving the Northerners greater autonomy over their
resources (Devolution Nunavut). With greater autonomy comes greater

least delay development of bacteriuria. This ability however varied greatly depending on
population, catheter type, and other variables. Their review showed less advantage over control
catheters for silver alloy coated catheters in current trials than in earlier trials. The authors
hypothesized the possibility of this effect being due to an exaggeration of the effect of these

which it was published that in the struggle for the rights and equality of man, one must also give
such heed to the rights of women. Mary Wollstonecraft adheres to the fact that the more specious
slavery which chains the very soul of woman, keeping her forever under the bondage of ignorance is
the cornerstone of a system of female inequality during the eighteenth century. In this essay, I will

Reproduction, Symbiosis, and the Eukaryotic Cell
Research Paper
Aram Kazorian
AP Biology
Mrs. Lee
18 October, 2016 The research that was conducted had the specific purpose of addressing questions
on topics of individuality, reproduction, symbiotic relationships, all based around the idea of
endosymbionts and the endosymbiotic theory with the eukaryotic cell. Symbiosis are the
relationships between organisms that can either harm or benefit themselves. And the topic of
symbiosis brings questions to the table about evolution, individuality, and cooperation between the
organisms, especially when the eukaryotic cell and the evolution of it is involved; however,
before we delve into these questions it is important to operationally define reproduction. In this
case reproduction has evolved over time into three forms of itself: simple, collective, and
scaffolded. Simple can be easily defined in the form of prokaryotes and bacteria. Collective can be
described as humans, as we have reproducing parts inside of ourselves(cells). And scaffolded can
be explained as reproductive objects that reproduce based entirely on surrounding resources, with
the example being viruses. We will discuss how reproduction and the evolution of it applies to the
eukaryotic cell as well. The conceptual framework that will be discussed in further detail later on,
was made to further discuss Lewontin s view on evolution by natural selection. He proposed three

The World Of The Vietnam War
The year is 1965: the skate board is the latest craze in kids toys; the miniskirt makes its

created; Sonny Cher make their first TV appearance in American Bandstand ; rights activist
Malcolm X is shot dead; the Gemini 3 launched the first US 2 man space flight; and the first United
States combat forces arrive in Vietnam. This was not the start of the Vietnam War since the war
actually started in 1955, pitting Communist North Vietnamagainst anti Communist South Vietnam.
The United States believed it had to protect South Vietnam from Communist take over and is the
reason the U.S. supplied South Vietnam with millions of dollars in military aid as well as with
military advisors from the start of the war. Eventually, the US had no other choice but to send
troops to war and it became the first war Americans opposed publicly and passionately, making
the US involvement in the Vietnam War a shameful venture rather than a noble cause. Although
the Vietnam War was the first televised war, it is unclear if Vietnam War films are able to give
an honest portrayal of the Vietnam War experience, or if truer reality of the war can be found
only in textbooks. The Vietnam War was so much a part of American life that it could not be

Aristotle Voluntary Action
In this module 2 Case assignment, I will be deliberating over what it is that Aristotle means to
convey in his paper on voluntary action. Additionally, I will discuss the importance of
differentiating between what is a voluntary, and an involuntary action. In order to achieve this, I
will be presenting a brief overview of how Aristotle himself distinguished between voluntary and
involuntary actions in his piece from his book, Nichomachean Ethics. To delve deeper in to how to
make this distinction, I will start by looking at such factors as compulsion and ignorance, which
have important roles in the classification of an action. I will also be discussing the implications of
choices, opinions, wishes and the deliberation involved therein. Additionally, I will reference an

An act is the product of choices, opinions, and wishes, which determine if the act will be chosen to
be carried out. Choice itself is voluntary, but a voluntary action is not necessarily a choice
(Aristotle). A choice is within our control, and as such we have the ability to choose that which
we know to be absolutely good. An opinion, like a choice, is voluntary but is not a choice in
itself. An opinion leads to a choice as we opine about matters and the inherent evidence to help
us decide which choice will provide the most good. A wish, on the other hand, is different from a
choice or opinion, in that it can be for something completely intangible. It can be wished that one
can freeze time, but we cannot choose to do so, as this is not within our power. What is in our
power is the ability to generate an opinion on the matter. Wishes are for an end as they serve to
present the final picture, while a choice is the means that will potentially bring one to this particular
end. All throughout this wishing and choosing, we deliberate as to which opinion, and choice is the

Male Privilege Analysis
2.Privilege can mean different things depending on whom you ask. So, with its various
associations, should we be using the word privilege in feminist discussions of WGS? After careful
consideration, I would argue that, yes, it should. In fact, rather than a new word, we need further
education about the feminist definition of privilege.
In her piece White Privilege and Male Privilege Peggy, McIntosh defines white privilege as an
invisible package of unearned assets that I can count on cashing in each day, but about which I
was meant to remain oblivious...like an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions . In
using the term privilege as WGS scholars define it, one then begins to realize and look for the
invisible instances of exercised privilege in one s own life. McIntosh does this in her article,
metaphorically unpacking the [invisible knapsack] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is essential because it is through unpacking these individual acts and experiences that we can
begin to realize the larger institutionalized systems of power that are at play, a major advantage of
the word privilege and its meaning. For instance, McIntosh observes, I can, if I wish, arrange to be
in the company of people of my race most of the time. This specific realization then implies that
there are people who cannot make such arrangements, who do not have this specific unearned
asset . In turn, we can begin to see the inherent relationship between privilege and oppression,
another advantage of the term privilege and its meaning. Indeed, Launius and Hassel define
privilege as benefits, advantages, and power that accrue to members of a dominant group as a
result of the oppression of the marginalized group. If WGS scholars were to define privilege
without acknowledging oppression, they would be

Video Games Stereotypes
Video Games
Video games first started being introduced into the world around the 1970 s and since then have
evolved and made an impact on the real life and online world. Throughout the years of video games
making more and more of an impact in the entertainment industry, the question to weather they are a
form of media still remains. Media is defined as the main means of mass communication (television,
radio, and newspapers) regarded collectively. And depending where you re coming from media can

As video games is such a big medium, they are able to convey messages to the players in a more
low key way, gender representations and stereotyping are both big things that the video gaming
industry can effectively play a big part in. Stereotyping refers to one group s generalised and
widely accepted perception about the personal attributes of members of another group (Ashmore
Boca, 1981; Dates Barlow, 1990). Within most traditional media, gender and racial stereotypes
are the most pervasive two. Increased distorted representation of women and minorities can have
a negative effect on the way that the viewer sees that particular group. The way that video games
are able to influence large masses is another reason to why it is able to be classified as a
legitimate form of media. The definition of media as stated above being, the main means of mass
communication (television, radio, and newspapers) regarded collectively. . Female characters have
changed and evolved throughout the time of video games, the first ever playable female character
in a mainstream game was created in 1986 and then another well known female character was
created by 1996, and that one being the protagonist of Tomb Raider, Lara Croft. By 2014 it is now
able to be chosen by the player in a collective of certain games to weather they play as male or
female. It isn t uncommon to see a female characters in a video game to be over sexualised, much
like mass media in todays age. Female characters are also commonly portrayed as a damsel in
distress , and the male protagonist is usually the one to save her. Mass medias such as the news
and newspapers have this in common with video games, making it out that females usually need
some sort of male hero in their lives. There is a big push for more women to be involved in the

robots who would let a loved one die knowing that they could get their hands on the one thing
that could save them. There are many oncologists who are in the business to honestly help and
make a difference in the world. Michael Higgins, a cancer patient, states in an interview I have
been fortunate because almost all of them have been remarkably compassionate and caring
people. At least one of them was motivated to pursue cancer research by the loss of a close
relative. This makes it evident that there are doctors who have dedicated their career to working
hard, conducting research, and trying to find the end to this horrible disease. If the cure was really
out there, then there wouldn t be so much effort given by doctors. Instead the industry would be
more laid back and nonchalant but, that isn t the case. Just like there s evil in this world, there is
also good (Michael Higgins).
While it seems to be that the conspiracy cannot be true, it is very evident why some had hope that
the conspiracy was true. The main reason some believe this conspiracy is true is because cancer is
a multi billion dollar industry. Many are wrapped up in this idea that the medical industry, along
with the government, is only out to get money. There are many who

Examples Of Tragic Tragedy Of Julius Caesar
Chapter1 Tragic hero. The two tragedies are named on the certain characters picked up from the
play itself, one is Julius Caesar and other is Macbeth. In the play Julius Caesar, Caesar is character
who is the ruler of the Rome and the play commences with his welcoming by Romans after
defeating the Pompey. However, there are very few instances where we can see Caesar on stage
with little focus on revelation of his personal attributes, whereas Marcus Brutus has remained the
main focus throughout the play. Initially, Cassius seems to provoke Brutus to get acquainted with
his notions about Caesar and gradually the character (Brutus) unveiled... Show more content on

Shakespeare and his contemporaries, although the events in the play differ extensively from
other plays but the play illustrates the atrocities of the elite class for their greed and avarice
driven by the desire of power which is satiated by murders and killings of innocent people. In the
backstage world of theatre, some believe that the play is cursed, and will not mention its title aloud,
referring to it instead as the Scottish play . Similarly, after the death of Julius Caesar it is believed
that Marcus Brutus was haunted by the spirit of Julius Caesar, these instances add obnubilation in
the minds of the audiences that attracts them in large number in order to experience the

The History of Television and the NBA
The National Basketball Association, or NBA has grown up over the last few decades. Once on
the verge of collapse, and unwanted by television, the NBA has rebounded to become quite
possibly the most popular league in the nation. It was through television that the league finally
established itself as a worthy opponent to Major League Baseball and the National Football
League. The NBA got its first television exposure during the 1953 54 season on the long since
folded DuMont network. At that time, baseball was still the national pastime, and pro football was
beginning to take the spotlight as the favorite sport. Even college basketball was ... Show more

The savior for the NBA emerged in the form of Danny Biasone, who instituted the 24 second shot
clock that most agree, saved the league. The 1954 55 seasons was the first played with the shot
clock, and the results were a more wide open style of play far more attractive to television
viewers. The NBA has been selected for this study to determine how television coverage changed
mass media coverage of basketball and the way the viewers perceived the game.
Perhaps no sport was more influenced by the advent of television than professional basketball.
From the earliest days of television, NBA officials realized the power of the medium and they
realized that any chances they had for success were directly linked to their survival on
television. Players and coaches alike were concerned with the way their game was presented on
television, even during the league s first decade on television. This made it clear that everyone
in the NBA knew that league success was directly related to television. NBA officials also knew
that in order to appeal to viewers, they would have to implement rules that would make the NBA
product more viewer friendly. In the early 1950s, the NBA suffered from the perception that it
was a slow paced game. This was due to the fact that in those days, if a team had the lead into the
fourth quarter, it would freeze the ball and turn the game into a tedious foul shooting exhibition.
This style of play threatened the NBA s survival

Toltecs Vs Cahokia
When considering the degrees of integration in various regions of the Americas, specifically
referencing the Chimu Empire, Toltecs, and Cahokia, the text makes the following statement: Two
forces contributed to greater integration in sub Saharan Africa and the Americas, from 1000 to
1300: commercial exchange...and urbanization... From this, we can conclude that there was a great
amount of integration taking place among the Chimu Empire, Toltecs, and Cahokia. W also see that
the two main things that caused more extreme integration in the Americaswere trading and
urbanization which are both powerful concepts when referring to how cultures develop and change
over time. Trading is a powerful tool among nations because it helps those nations share

(Walmart, 2012) The company announced a $750 million, 73 store expansion plan in early 2012. A. Country Competitiveness A large multinational company such as Walmart experiences different opportunities and challenges in the countries in which it does business. Walmart being the largest retailer in the world, must adapt to varying business environments. Canada s competitiveness relative to Walmart s expansion is viewed through Porter s diamond framework. Country Level Determinants The passage of NAFTA represented an enticing opportunity for Walmart to capitalize on the discount store industry, of which only Zellers and K Mart had a presence in. NAFTA also paved the road for Walmart s expansion into Canada. The agreement had the intention of creating job and economic growth as well as eliminating tariffs and controls on goods transported amongst the three countries. This phenomenon of internationalization created openness and capability for Walmart to capitalize on goods production in one country, followed by movement and sales in the other. Moreover, currency valuation in present day represents an opportunity for retailers to expand into the Canadian market. Women In Arthurian Mythology Arthurian legends may seem to only depict knights in shining armor saving damsels in distress or powerful kings with queens sitting idly by their sides, but upon closer inspection, those women were not as delicate as initially portrayed. In fact, there were many influential women who played critical roles in the men s decisions. Significant ones included the Lady of the Lake, the moon goddess, Morgan Le Fay, the all powerful fairy, and Guinevere, the mere mortal that everybody envied because of her beauty. All three were beautiful enchantresses characterized by being shrouded in mystery, refusing to reveal the true intentions behind their deliberate actions. Yet behind each, there were complex backgrounds of where they came from and how they came to be. This affair lasted for many years, but not without suspicion from others, until Arthur stopped turning a blind and reluctantly sentenced her to being burned at the stake. In the nick of time, Lancelot saved her from a horrible death and leaves her to lock herself in the Tower of London where she wore the nun s veil and where she was supposedly buried. • 10. Seneca s Theory Of Ethics Caught My Interest Born in 1 BCE, Lucius Annaeus Seneca was a Stoic philosopher whose writings cover a vast range of topics concerning the human experience. The public s conception of stoicism as a school of philosophy predominantly focused on embracing misfortune without complaint is somewhat distorted from the actual beliefs its outstanding figures held. Seneca s approach to ethics caught my interest, after thinking over his arguments, I found myself agreeing with much of what he had to say, that is if I interpreted it correctly. I believe the principles espoused by the stoics to be particularly relevant over the past century. The 1920 s is often associated as an age of materialism, an unsustainable time period inundated with mass consumption and fixated on pleasure. While playing fighting with plastic rules, using them as swards, Teresa Mullin was injured by a fragment of the rule, which snapped and went in her right eye, causing her to loose most of her eye sight. Teresa sued the school for negligence, as well as Heidy. However, it was decided by the court that Heidy was expected, as standard, to act like a 15 years old student, and not like a reasonable adult. He was sent home after the Accident and Emergency department refused to examine him. After five hours, he died due to arsenic poisoning. The hospital owed the man duty of care and were also in breach after refusing to examine him. However, they were not liable as even if they had conducted the examinations the man would have died prior the results and treatment. Meaning that he would have died if the breach was or was not present, as their breach did not cause him to die. Remoteness of damage consists in establishing whether the offender is liable for only the damages, if the consequences were foreseeable from the breach of duty. In other words, the judges have to be able to establish where and when do the consequence act start and finish, as some may be too remote to be included as they may happen years after if not earlier, depending on the circumstances. Before the colonial period in Rwanda, there were three classifications of people. Hutus, who made up the majority of the population 84%, Tutsi who were only 17% and Twa who only made up 1%. Hutus were from less privileged families and were cultivators, Tutsis were cattle herders and from rich families, and Twa were potters and were outshined by the other groups (Stapleton 28). Starting from 2005, IAS /IFRS adoption has been mandatory in all the member states of the European Union with the ultimate goal of increasing transparency in financial reporting. This adoption of IAS/IFRS therefore represents an extraordinary event for empirical research because evidence shows that the mandatory adoption of IAS/IFRS in Europe results in better quality of financial reporting. Resolving Internal And External Conflicts Having the skills to resolve internal and external conflicts effectively is one of the biggest challenges faced by organizations in today s business world. In most cases, to attain success in conflict issues, mediators are needed. They are vital to success as they act as they act as neutral parties to analyze a conflict by listening to both parties and coming up with a solution. The mediator is completely impartial (neutral) person(s) who probably does not know either party, but will act as a middle man that listens to both sides of the situation from the two and see if there is any middle ground opportunities for some kind of arrangement, acceptable to both sides, which will in part or fully help to resolve the situation. By so doing, a mediator functions as an intermediary. A mediator talks to parties in separate rooms and never allows shouting or interruption from disputants facing each other. In fact, often there is no need, allowing disputants to be in the same room at all. The role of the mediator is to shuttle or go between the parties. However, this paper will describe a work related conflict experience where a mediator was used to resolve the conflict, define the role of a mediator, explain the types of data a mediator may choose to gather and analyze when conducting a session to reduce or eliminate the conflict, assess how the information is utilized in a mediationplan by providing a detailed example of each. A common tradition and theme in music is the role of men and women and how each gender is perceived or included in a tradition. Tango is an example of this; men are supposed to be a strong, masculine, even virile figure who lead the effeminate, submissive female partner. Another example of genderroles in musicis in the musics of Native Americans and First Nation people where traditionally only men were able to play the drums in the middle of the circle at large gatherings such as powwows. Indigenous people were self governed long before Europeans arrived in Canada, but in 1876, the Indian Act came into effect, dismantling traditional governance systems and Indigenous peopleslives (Bc Treaty Commission). But the model of self government offered by the Canadian government leaves the people of Nunavut financially at the mercy of the Government and thus is impractical and doomed to fail. Reproduction, Symbiosis, And Eukaryotic Cell Essay Holy Martyrs Ferrahian High School Reproduction, Symbiosis, and the Eukaryotic Cell Research Paper Aram Kazorian AP Biology Mrs. Lee 18 October, 2016 The research that was conducted had the specific purpose of addressing questions on topics of individuality, reproduction, symbiotic relationships, all based around the idea of endosymbionts and the endosymbiotic theory with the eukaryotic cell. Symbiosis are the relationships between organisms that can either harm or benefit themselves. And the topic of symbiosis brings questions to the table about evolution, individuality, and cooperation between the organisms, especially when the eukaryotic cell and the evolution of it is involved; however, before we delve into these questions it is important to operationally define reproduction. In this case reproduction has evolved over time into three forms of itself: simple, collective, and scaffolded. Simple can be easily defined in the form of prokaryotes and bacteria. Collective can be described as humans, as we have reproducing parts inside of ourselves(cells). And scaffolded can be explained as reproductive objects that reproduce based entirely on surrounding resources, with the example being viruses. We will discuss how reproduction and the evolution of it applies to the eukaryotic cell as well. The conceptual framework that will be discussed in further detail later on, was made to further discuss Lewontin s view on evolution by natural selection. He proposed three ... So, with its various associations, should we be using the word privilege in feminist discussions of WGS? After careful consideration, I would argue that, yes, it should. In her piece White Privilege and Male Privilege Peggy, McIntosh defines white privilege as an invisible package of unearned assets that I can count on cashing in each day, but about which I was meant to remain oblivious...like an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions .
