Defense Of Provocation In Australia
Most Australian states have abolished or dramatically reformed the defence of
provocation. Critically analyse the provocation defence and the reforms that have
recently taken place in Australian states and territories. In your analysis, consider the
recent NSW case which used the provocation defence and also battered woman
syndrome cases.
The Defence of Provocation
The defence of provocation is quickly being eroded in Australian law in several
different ways on a state to state basis. The defence of provocation allows
perpetrators to be acquitted of murder which carries a maximum sentence of life
imprisonment and instead be tried for manslaughter which carries a considerably
shorter maximum sentence. The former attorney general Rob Hulls ... Show more

Had these reforms been in place at the time of the Singh v R case, his defence would
be rejected as the deceased had not committed a serious indictable offence. These
reforms ensure that those who act out of jealousy are not provided leniency by our
judicial system, whilst ensuring that those who may otherwise act out of battered
woman syndrome are not discriminated in any way.
Similarly, the Crimes Act 1900 (ACT) Sect 13 dictates that:
(3) However, conduct of the deceased consisting of a non violent sexual advance (or
advances) towards the accused (a) is taken not to be sufficient, by itself, to be
conduct to which subsection (2) (b) applies; but (b) may be taken into account
together with other conduct of the deceased in deciding whether there has been an act
or omission to which subsection (2) applies.
The inclusion of (3) also allows for differentiation between both those who act out of
jealousy of their partner and those who are facing domestic abuse from their partner.
In QLD however, the Criminal Code 1899 (QLD) Sect 269 which details the defence
of provocation is far more relaxed in comparison to its other Australian counterparts
and in need of reform. It does not include any method of distinguishing between both
a jealous act and a reaction to domestic abuse.
Pain And Treatment Of Shoulder Pain
Introduction
The shoulder is one of the largest and most complex joints in the human body(1)The
shoulder is not a single joint; it is an intricate arrangement of bones, muscles and
ligaments, which provides strength and range of motion to the arm(1, 2). Shoulder
pain accounts for between 16 21% of all musculoskeletal complaints(3, 4). There are
many causes of shoulder pain such as: repetitive movements and overuse, trauma, and
degenerative changes.
Shoulder pain and associated glenohumeral joint movement dysfunctions are common
and debilitating conditions(5). The most frequently occurring problems include:
shoulder impingement, rotator cuff associated disorders, glenohumeral joint
instability and adhesive capsulitis(5). Proper scapular motion and stability are
considered to be crucial for the shoulder to function normally(6, 7). The scapular
must serve as first, a stable base for glenohumeral function, second, a site of muscle
attachment and third, a link for proximal to distal transfer of energy(2, 6, 8).
Therefore abnormal functioning of the scapular will decrease normal shoulder
function and predispose the shoulder to injury ((2, 5, 9). This essay aims to review
the importance of scapular control during shoulder movements, and will discuss the
evidence for scapular control to rehabilitate Glenohumeral joint injuries.
Anatomy of the shoulder
The shoulder complex is made up of four different joints. These are the articulations
of the clavicle, the humerus, the

CпїЅsar...
The Faith of Words CГ©sar Chavez once said, Nonviolence is not inaction. It is
not discussion. It is not for the timid or weak. Non violence is hard work. It is the
willingness to sacrifice It is the patience to win. . His words inspired one young
man to turn his life around and become a man of character who used his experiences
to help others. In his essay CГ©sar ChГЎvez Saved My Life Daniel Nene Alejandrez
tells his story of the struggle and anger towards many injustices that happen around
him and his journey from channeling that anger through crime to using it to start a
foundation Barrios Unidos, to help men in prison overcome poverty, and the drug
and violence culture surrounding them. In his essay, Alejandrez uses key scenes
from his life to convey his main theme of spiritual connection to overcome the
many hardships the Latino community faces in this country. Alejandrez begins his
essay with a story from his childhood. He sets up the story by giving it a time and
place he is the son of a migrant worker born in a cotton field in Merigold,
Mississippi. He then describes his difficult childhood using vivid language, as the
son of a migrant worker he had to move many times a year and assimilate into
many different schools. His family had to make ends meet with the little money
they had so most of the time that meant having no shoes or one pair of pants. The
social climate was also very tense, he describes it as I always remembered my
experience in Texas, where
Character Analysis Of Chuck Bass
The pilot episode introduces viewers to the series plot line and its primary
characters. In the first episode, Chuck appears as a privileged, woman obsessed
teenager. In fact, referring to the show s primary protagonist, Serena, he suggests,
that level of perfection needs to be violated. Later, referring to Blair Waldorf, he
insists his friend, Nate Archibald, should tap that ass. Ultimately, Chuck only views
his female counterparts as sexual objects, not human beings. Throughout the first
season, in particular, Chuck is mostly characterized as three things: rich, mean, and
sexually aggressive (McNear, 2017). Furthermore, he rarely thinks, or cares, about
consequences because he never actually suffers any negative repercussions for...

Misleadingly, Chuck guides Serena to the kitchen, where he orders the chef to
make her a sandwich. While in the kitchen, he suggests, if you re looking for a
way to thank me I have a couple of ideas. He then forces himself upon Serena
despite her multiple pleas for him to stop. Chuck ignores her. Fortunately, Serena
hits Chuck and runs away, escaping his assault. The scene highlights a number of
serious concerns. First, Chuck knows Serena is drunk; therefore, she is unable to
give true consent. So, even if Serena had wanted Chuck to make a move, she lacked
the clear capacity to do so, thus making it a problematic sexual encounter. Second, as
with many real life scenarios, Serena does not press charges against her perpetrator.
In fact, she tells no one of Chuck s assault. Since he suffers no repercussions for his
first offense, Chuck later assaults Jenny Humphrey at a party.
Jenny, like many freshmen, is willing to do almost anything to gain popularity.
Chuck, on the other hand, has power over Jenny because he is an upper classman
with wealth. In the scene leading up to his assault upon Jenny, he references the
purity and freshness of freshmen, hinting at the allure of Jenny s innocence. Chuck
then uses his charm and social status to lure her in. Throughout the entire encounter,
Jenny is visibly uncomfortable. Noticing Jenny s behavior, Chuck hands her a flute of
I Don t Blame People For Harboring
Are you nuts? Go be a doctor, at least you won t die poor. This is exactly what my
grandmother said when I gave her the awful news that I wanted to write and direct
films for a living. Sound familiar? This is often what aspiring creative individuals
hear not to negate the special few who have thoroughly supportive relatives and
friends. But for the rest of us, we get that all too recognizable tone of skepticism,
doubt, and in extreme cases, outright pessimism. I don t blame people for harboring
such notions, and neither should you.
For every successful writer, dancer, actor, or director, there are thousands more that
didn t succeed. Everyone knows the story of some young actor who runs off to
Hollywood only to become a waiter that never gets his big break. These stories
permeate and have emerged as some form of cautionary tale. Are you scared yet?
Thinking of giving up and getting a real job? Don t be. If every hopeful artist gave
up, the world would be bleak, humorless, and uninspired. There would be no Quintin
Tarantino s or David Bowie s.
Now, I admit, diving into the entertainment industry is scary and takes a lot of
intestinal fortitude. However, it our madness, determination, and passion for our
work that propelled us to exclaim, I want to create, in the first place. And it is that
mindset that sets us apart. Someone else who had a dream and pushed towards it is
no other than James Cameron. His path toward success did not start off easy, and like

The Lake House
Pulling up to the lake house, I looked over at my older sister, Clara, who was busy
staring through the window of the old truck. Every year, my Dad s whole side of
the family stays together for a week every summer. Ever since I can remember, we
ve stayed at this huge, old lake house in Columbia, South Carolina. Clara and I hate
being here. Strange things happen in this house... plates fall out 5432wqof
cabinets and voices echo in the house throughout the night. Nevertheless, my
grandparents still loved coming here and made us visit every year. Clara, my Dad,
and I are the last ones to arrive because our flight from Chicago was overlaid two
hours. I missed Chicago already, the constant buzz of people and the bright lights.
Walking up to the house, everything felt the same as it always did. The humidity is
choking, making it hard to breathe. The sun is blinding and the temperature is
somewhere in the 90 s, as to be expected late July in South Carolina. The lake
smells like dead fish. Always, no matter what. We walked up the old, wooden
stairs. The light blue paint was chipping off the door, and the door itself looked
like it was about to fall of the hinges. Clara let herself in, pulling her lime suitcase
behind her. My two little cousins, Reagan and Matthew, immediately saw her and
squealed with joy. Everyone loved Clara, her bubbly personality easy to get along
with. No one, on the other hand, was ever excited to see me. I was the quiet one,

My aspirations is to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst at Genesee Health
System. About a year ago, I started as an Applied Behavior Analyst Technician
where I serve autistic children through therapeutic behavioral services and I must
say I really fell in love with my job and the kids I work with every day. It has
motivated me to carry on with my educational goals and continue working with
children. ABA Technician is a great job to have and you gain lots of experience but
what made me motivated even more to apply for M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction
(Applied Behavior Analysis) is to gain more information, so that I am able to utilize
the techniques and study the mind and behaviorof individuals. I know if I am

fulfill my dream and career goal of becoming BCBA and it will expand my resources
so that I am able to apply them towards the individuals that I will be working with.
A quality that I believe is critical to working with an individual with special needs is
having a positive attitude. It is very important that you maintain your attitude and
keeping your team and children motivated while working towards the continued
success and also keeping energy levels up. Children can feed off your energy, so if
you re walking around feeling down or upset a child can pick up on your attitude and

Character Analysis Of Lulu
According to author Lyn Gardner of the guardian.com Lulu is described as the face
that launched a thousand fantasies. She is all things to all men . . . She is a blank.
She is what you want her to be. Her name is Lulu, and she is nothing but trouble
(Gardner). The First Lulu gleans the drama, deception, lies, and vengeance akin to
play s Don Giovanniand Don Juan. However, one of the primary differences remains
is Lulus character is a woman. However, Lulu is no less cunning, in fact her character
is more cavalier and unrepentant in her unfaithfulness to men compared to Don
Giovanni and Don Juan combined. Alban Berg describes Lulu as a woman created

Therefore Lulu candidly expresses her distaste in Frank Wedekind s play The First
Lulu. Lulu notes he is banal Simple minded. No education. No inkling what
impression he gives. Sees nothing, neither himself nor me. Blind as a stovepipe (qtd.
in Wedekind 80).
Although Schooning has ulterior motives, he has enough concern for the lady he
desires to marry and his friendship with Schwartz to end the affair. Schoning says
when Schwartz married Lulu, he became his friend (qtd. in Wedekind 80).
Therefore, Schoning encourages Lulu to settle down, Schoning says take him in
hand. That s what any wife has to do . . . If he has no education, what about . . .
The sacred ties of . . . ? (qtd. in Wedekind 81). Thus, Lulu has no respect for the
relationship affirmed in her statement suspicious as a thief yet lets himself be lied
to and deceived . . . One loses all respect . . . On our wedding night, I made him
believe I was still a virgin (qtd. in Wedekind 82). As the play continues, Lulu s
unfaithfulness continues, and she uses many men to get whatever she pleases.
Moreover, Lulu switches male partners similar to changing costumes witnessed in
the video clip Pandora s Box. However, the most saddening part of the play lies in
the woman Gerschwitz. Moreover, Gerschwitz loved Lulu passionately and
desperately wanted to be with her. Yet as the play continued Gerschwitz heart darkens
as a result of the continued rejection from Lulu. Also,

Modern History
Research Essay: The Russian Revolution (Task 1)
Assess the role of the Bolsheviks for the decline and fall of the Romanov dynasty.
The beginning of the 20th century brought radical changes to the social and political
structure of autocratic Russia. It was a period of regression, reform, revolution and
eradication. Eradication of a blood line that had remained in rule for over 300 years;
the Romanov Dynasty. The central figure of this eradication was Tsar Nicholas II,
often described as an incompetent leader, absent of the commanding personality nor
the strong character and prompt decision which are so essential to an autocratic
ruler... (Sir G. Buchman, British ambassador to Russia from 1910 in H. Seton Watson,

The 1905 revolution can be considered as the pinnacle event that accelerated the
downward spiral of Tsar Nicholas s rule and Russia s adherence to their little father
. From this point onwards Nicholas was referred to by the people as not their little
father but Nicholas the Bloody . The present ruler has lost absolutely the affection
of the Russian people, and whatever the future may have in store for the dynasty,
the present tsar will never again be safe in the midst of his people. (The American
consul in Odessa). This revolution was an uprising of people from all levels of
society and was not an uprising organised by any group in particular. The
Bolsheviks played a minimal role in the 1905 revolution as most of their leaders
were living in exile and their impact and influence on the workers in that year was
weak as well as having no Duma faction. This demonstrates that the Bolsheviks had a
minor role in the pinnacle events that led to the downfall of the Romanov dynasty but
rather gained support after Nicholas abdication.
The years following the 1905 revolution seemed to show a lull amongst the people
but unrest soon returned to the cities. In the months leading up to WWI, St.
Petersburg was paralysed by strikes, with workers and police officers fighting hand to
hand battles on the street.
Essay on China
China
The history of China is embeded with revolution and tension dating back to the feudal
periods and the first unified Chinese empire under Qi Shi Huang
Di in 221 B.C. The Confucianism ideology entrenched in the minds of the
Chinese people with its conservative base and the need to achieve harmony in
society has yet to be reached and most likely, never will. The proletariat is at the

The Chinese Communist Party was by no means a military power and it was unable
to sustain itself and flourish in the Nationalist controlled cities. The
Kuomintang, a nationalist party was set out to unify China under one central
government. The KMT had in its possession adequate means to quash the idealistic
CCP and did so on a number of occasions. Some of which led to rebellions such as
the Long March led by Mao Tse tung.
China, over history has experienced phases of both Nationalism and
Sinocentrism, both of which can be damaging to a developing country attempting to
compete economically in the global market. These ideas can relate back to the ancient
religion of confucianism. Confucianism has been instramental in the shaping of
China s leadership. Not only does it emphasize a rigid hierarchy kept in place by
virtuous behavior. But it also holds that strict adherence to proper behavior actually
leads to correct thinking. Accompanying Nationalism and Sinocentrism was rebellion
and unrest. Twenty four historic dynasties followed a common pattern of
development. At the beginning of a new dynasty, a period of national unity under
virtuous and benevolent rule flourished and usually was accompanied by intellectual
excitement. A

Recruiting Orienting a New Generation
The millennial s are coming. This can be a very shocking and disturbing thing to
many employers and managers. There is a new generation entering the workforce
that many see as difficult, lazy, and foreign. While the years vary, millennial s
generally are represented by people in the United States born in between 1980 2000
(Kuhl, 2014). This is a new generation of employees who think very differently than
past generations and have a very different perception of the employee employer
relationship. Many companies are struggling with recruiting this generation into their
workforce and even more companies are plagued by extremely high attritions rates
within this demographic. In this essay the ideas of changes to recruiting and on
boarding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the company is bragging about its casual atmosphere, a very formal interview
process may contradict that perception (Lukens, 2014). Likewise understanding
that my generation does not plan on working more than is required so being clear
about work expectations and being honest about work life balance are important.
My generation will check all of these facts against employee reviews and will
generally be able to find discrepancies quickly (Kuhl, 2014). Here items such as the
ability to telecommute or work flex hours will come off as very attractive to my
generation. The second focus point within recruiting is understanding that my
generation communicates very differently. Because my generation embraces
technology so much communication is expected to be short and immediate.
Likewise my generation expects to be able to utilize technology for the application.
This means companies that utilize online tools such as LinkedIn and email will have
an advantage with my generation. Likewise my generation will not understand why
it may takes weeks or months to complete a formal hiring process (Kuhl, 2014).
Companies with expatiate hiring process will be seen as much more attractive.
Lastly, power in my generation is not linked to status or money, it is linked to
knowledge. This is an extremely important thing to understand about millennial s.
Millennial s really do not value money the same way previous generations did but
they do value the ability to do something
1984 Themes In 1984
In 1984 George Orwell depicts a totalitarian state ruled by Big Brother. By the use of
psychological manipulation, technology and the concept that through the control of
memory the past is controlled, we see and feel the oppressive atmosphere through
the eyes of the protagonist Winston Smith. Certain aspects of the fiction including
the use of literary devices such foreshadowing, symbolism, allusion were
impressive. Despite the favorable parts about the novel, there were parts which I
disliked and were disturbing. After some research about the context, I realized that
the novel is a mirror of its time. There are several parallels in the society Orwell
portrays with Hitler s Germany and Stalin s Soviet Union, where the government kept

The timing of when these lines are revealed to the reader hold immense
significance. The voice from the tele screen that was behind the picture of St.
Clement s Church says, Here comes a chopper to chop off your head symbolizing
that the house is surrounded and they are trapped just like during the rhyme,
children bring their arms down to trap one of the players. Ministry of truth deals
with lies and changing the past to match big brother s predictions. When one hears
about the ministry of plenty, one would think that they were dealing with excess
supply. However, as noted by Winston, the figures for boots were always
monumental in the papers but most of the proles walked barefoot, things were
being rationed. These contradictions add to the dystopian setting that George Orwell
created. I think that the concept of Room 101 was the most effective addition to
this cautionary tale. The party s use of technology to analyze your every move, keep
you under constant surveillance so that you have no privacy, they know everything
about you even your worst fears and them having the power to use that information

Therefore, this beautiful message of God s love will spread like a wild forest fire as
it spreads towards others giving them hope for their soul to live for God while they
are doing the will of God so that they will have eternal life with God.
We are not here in existence on this earth just for our good looks and nor are we
here to be catered to on hand and foot. But, we are here to help one another in doing
the work of the Lord.
Meanwhile, no one should think or feel that they are better or more important than

Summer Holidays
It was the first of June. The sun was shining brightly and there was the flavor of joy,
happiness, and vacations in the air. I breathed it and truly felt how my body
overwhelmed with the freedom and desire to move the mountains in the pursuit of
great vacations. I planned my summer holidays during the whole year, and I knew
for sure that it had to be a marvelous time spent with friends, ocean, sunshine, fresh
fruits, and disco parties. My mother has changed everything that day. She decided
that charity was the best thing, which I could do in summer, and enrolled me to the
special program, aimed at attending the elderly homes and assisting senior people
there. Saying that I was disappointed is nothing. I was truly furious, because it...

The most amazing thing were her eyes. Blue, round, energetic. There was such a

Gladwell s Argument In Outliers
Gladwell s Argument in Outliers Success is a concept that is constantly altered
and has a different meaning from person to person. The stereotypical definition of
success would be someone who has a high paying job or is in the upper class.
Malcolm Gladwell, the author of Outliers: The Story of Success, approaches the
concept of success in a different and unique way. Gladwell discusses how
opportunities, cultural legacy, and hard work all coincide with each other to produce
real success. He uses mostly logic and multiple unrelated anecdotes to support and
provide evidence for his statements. Gladwell s main argument is that although hard
work and talent are essential for success, one s given opportunities and cultural
legacy is what really... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example that he talks about is The Matthew Effect . The Matthew Effect is
shown through the Medicine Hat Tigers elite hockey team of Canada; if one was
to look at the roster, which includes their birth dates, they would find something
quite peculiar. Most of the players were born in the early months of the year, for
instance, January, February, and March. The cutoff date for making the elite team
is also January 1st; meaning that all the hockey players born close to the cutoff
date would be enrolled for the next year and therefore, have a whole year on people
born in December of that same year. Not only are the early month players
physically developing more quickly, but they also get more practice, which causes
them to be more successful than others and have a huge advantage. The same results
also appeared in Czech junior soccer teams as the cut off date was also January 1st.
Gladwell states, ...the Czech soccer coaches might as well have told everyone born
after mid summer that they should pack their bags and go home (27). Overall, this
effect helps contribute to Gladwell s main statement about opportunity, which is that
the opportunities presented to you stem from the month, year, or era you were born
in, your culture, and your family background. Sometimes they are even presented to
you just by luck but, with either case, to become successful, you must be able to
notice your opportunities and then invest yourself in
2.Gilmore Whistleblowing In The Given Situation Lends
Itself
2.Gilmore whistleblowing in the given situation lends itself to much ethical debate.
For this discussion, one should assume SCE is in violation of the AICPA Code of
Professional Conduct by recognizing revenue in the current period as detailed in the
previous issue. To first consider the ethics of Gilmore whistleblowing, it is essential
to define the steps that should be taken by her before she considers whistleblowing.
For this, one can use the standard on ethical conflicts outlined in the AICPA Code of
Professional Conduct. In this instance, the conflict in question surrounds around the
pressure from internal management to do an unethical action (AICPA Code of
Professional Conduct). This is the situation which Gilmore is involved in, due... Show

This leads to three options Gilmore can take in the given situation. The first option
is for Gilmore to do nothing to address the issue and continue her employment with
SCE. The second alternative is for her to resign from SCE. The final route she has
is whistleblowing under the assumption she exhausted all internal options. As a
spot check, the first alternative would be unethical. As stated in the final step of
evaluating ethical conflicts, one should consider leaving the relationship with the
given organization, so they are not in violation of the code. As determined in the
previous issue, SCE was in violation of the code by recognizing revenue in the
current period. Therefore, Gilmore would be associated with this violation by
staying in employment with SEC. This means she would potentially face fines or
disciplinary actions from the SEC as well as the State Board of Accountancy.
Solely based on this code section, Gilmore does have a reasonable case for walking
away and not whistleblowing. However, there are other pieces of literate that needs
to be addressed before coming to this conclusion in entirety. To start, one must first
address laws surrounding whistleblowing before looking at ethic based authorities.
While there is not a law that requires one to whistle blow, there are laws that have
been put in place to ensure that
The Main Factors Of The Spanish Inquisition In Spain
The Spanish Inquisition affected Spain s national Identify as it was the first time that
Spain ever encountered an Inquisition with the soul purpose of getting rid of all
hersey including any of those who converted from Judaism and Islam to Christian.
There were three huge factors on why the Inquisition every started in Spain, the main
factor was that it allowed the christian leaders to conquer Spain and take any control
away that the Muslim authority had before. Another key factor is that it caused a
huge rivalry between two young kings of France and Spain. The last factor was that

unproven reserves are estimated at 27 billion barrels of shale oil and considered to be

Beauty And Beauty In Frankenstein
Beauty is pain. It is a common thought and a pervasive one for not only do people
define beauty by the amount of suffering a person undergoes but goodness is defined
similarly. The two concepts are inextricably related. Studies have shown beautiful
people are perceived as of good character while those ugly and deformed seem
inherently mischievous and untrustworthy (Dorsey). Yet, everyone has at one time or
another met an individual whose beauty is only superficial. Admittedly, this natural
instinct toward prejudgment is difficult to control. Examples of individuals violating
these instinctual rules of beauty and morality fill the pages of Mary Shelley s
Frankenstein. Indeed, in her novel, Shelly recognizes and accentuates humanity s
prejudice toward ugliness in order to contrast with her personal definitionof beauty
one that recognizes virtue as the basis of beauty regardless of physical form so that
her theme, that humanity is less above the beast in virtue and intelligence then it
believes, is revealed. In a novel that is quite brimming with depictions of horrid acts
of violence and mental agony, it is surprising how much time is spent describing
beauty. Quite often as an escape from said agony, Victor, the eponymous protagonist,
strolls through the nature surrounding his Genevois dwelling. The oft visited nearby
lake is described by Victor as a scene so beautiful and heavenly (Shelley, 95) before
he considers drowning himself in that peaceful body. To describe a

Have you ever experienced feeling so weak and sleep deprived at work? It is
normal for anyone to feel the 3pm slump. Most of us have to live a busy life and we
start our day busy to finish the task all throughout the day and just when our day was
about to end, we might feel tired and lazy and it is not unusual.
We usually feel tired and sleepy during mid afternoon. Commonly, this is the timeof
the day when our energy reserved for the whole of the day is almost drained out.
However, we should not just let our body slouch in our desk once we feel exhausted.
Let s check out some of the quick ways to boost energy effectively.

Supplements have become very popular in the United States. Americans want a cure

Modern Cuban culture cannot simply be defined in a singular fashion. The
convergence of peoples from multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ranging from
the Iberia and Italy to Africa and China has significantly influenced the evolution of
the unique culture of the Cuban population. However, of these, it is the Spanish and
African influences that have very distinctly remained, shaping societal norms, and
setting culturally artistic precedents. For Afro Cubans however, the struggle to

In his famous text, Cuban Counterpoint: Tobacco and Sugar, Ortiz explains how the
cultures and peoples that descended upon the island, beginning with the native
Ciboney and Taino, did not simple assume one another s culture, but converged to
create completely new cultures and societal norms (Ortiz, 99). Though sadly, the
majority of these original tribes were completely eliminated by the Spanish, they
remain alive in words such as, manatee, hammock, hurricane, and tobacco
(Kronenburg, 51). However, to say that Spanish and African peoples descended upon
Cuba would be misleading; hence the more accurate use of transculturation to
describe the intersection of a range of cultures from the Iberian Peninsula including
Galicians, Basque, Portuguese, and from western Africa including Congolese,
Angolan, and Guinean (Kronenburg, 52).
Even more interesting than the etymology of Cuba s ethnic history is the
implications of how transculturation played into the historical and social construction
of power dynamics in Cuba. Ortiz states that throughout Cuban history, one culture
was not only attempting to gain power and wealth for themselves, but systematically
set up a culture that disenfranchised another population; this is seem most directly
with the institution of slavery by the Spanish (Ortiz, 101). The power dynamic
created by the institution of slavery can certainly be pointed to as a

The genre of the film is far more evident in the poster for The World Is Not Enough
. The images used connote an action film that has many different narratives. The
poster is lively and eye catching and is full of bright, vivid images. The poster fits
in very well with the title of the film, as it looks like James Bond is going to

flames shows this. There are also several images circling around the main
characters in the film, which look futuristic and scientific and feature explosions
and car chases. Comparing the two posters also shows how technology and science
has progressed through the decades and this is very apparent in the 1999 film poster,
which looks far more advanced, as far as gadgets and weapons go.
The Dr No poster does not specify the genre so well. It could be for several different
genres. It indicates that it could possibly be a spy or mystery film, which is partly

Power is not without its temptations. At one time or another many of us have
harbored a secret fantasy to club that lethargic laggard between the eyes so he will
understand what needs to get done. Some upper level managers with a reservoir of
power could actually do so. History and literature, including management literature,
are replete with notorious examples of power abuse and the disasters that emanated
from them. If managers lack this historical perspective, or an engrained sense of
ethics, they must hope that at least the rudder of their own temperament will guide
them successfully. Without any of these supports, a myopic mindset may impel them
to use their power in destructive ways, eventually dissipating it.
Other top level managers can shoulder burdens and deliver results in more subtle
fashion. They have learned that power abuse can curtail effectiveness. They know the
downside risks of unilateral imposition and have acquired the expertise, experience
and empathy to avoid these pitfalls. Experience can instill appreciation for unintended
consequences, and training can imbue ethical precepts. Many scholars attribute the
long term durability of organizations, and even whole societies, to successful
managerial preparation for power deployment. When they wield power well, users of
power usually garner the nimbus of leadership.

of cannabis was based on genuine concern for the possible consequences it may
have on the well being of people if it remained accessible to all, the truth is that the
drive behind the U.S. s prohibition of cannabiswas founded on racism. During the

Marijuana which had been known as cannabis by Americans was not illegal in the

the Western states were uneasy of the newcomers and with rising tensions in those

outlawing of marijuana would provide authorities with an opportunity to control

Watergate Of The Watergate Scandal
Watergate Scandal The Watergate Scandal happened almost 43 years ago; the
event will never be forgotten. The Watergate scandal defined, perhaps for the first
time, that a president of the United States could be portrayed as untrustworthy.
Richard Nixon ran for a second term in 1972, in which he won by a huge margin.
The Democratic Party had their headquarters at the high end Watergate hotel. The
break in happened on June 17th, 1972, in which a security guard noticed the tape
on the door lock. Five men were found in the office and were arrested for burglary. It
seemed like a mission to spy on the Democratic Party since some of Nixon s
assistants were involved in the case.
November 5th, 1968: Richard Nixon was elected the 37th president. In 1971, in the
response to the leak of the Pentagon papers which were about the Vietnam War that
went into detail that nobody in the public knew. President Nixon authorized a
creation of special investigators known as the White House Plumbers . The
investigators included, Bernard Barker, Virgilio Gonzalez, Eugenio Martinez,
Frank Sturgis, and James W. McCord Jr. Nixon told John Ehrlichman who was the
White House chief domestic adviser If we can t get anyone in this damn
government to do something about leaks, then by God we ll do it ourselves. I want
you to set up a little group right here in the White House. Have them get off their
tails and find out what s going on and figure out how to stop it. . On May 28th, 1972,
The International Criminal Court As An Advocate For Peace
The International Criminal Court as Both Mediator and Arbiter in Conflicts
Paul Daniel Thornton
Dr. Lealle Ruhl
POLI 1145 Peace and Conflict Studies
Wednesday, November 16, 2016
INTRODUCTIONIn the pursuit of positive peace for the global community, certain
mechanisms are necessary in order to better protect human rights and resolve
interstate conflicts. Prior to the events of World War II, a cogent set of laws defining
those human rights, much less violations therein were never heard at an international
scale. The International Criminal Court has the role as both appellate for justice and
voice for peace in the international community but has not yet resolve the
contradictory ends of both roles. That contradictory end is that many countries
proclaim the necessity of the International Criminal Court as an advocate for conflict
resolution and peace advocacy while being resist or outright antagonistic towards the
court when their own state has committed those same crimes. To the ends of
defending basic universal rights, the International Criminal Court (hereafter ICC)
serves that capacity when state level systems cannot or will not act accordingly.
Initially, this was seen following World War II with the Nuremberg trials in response
to the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany. However in more contemporary
history, the ICC was formed to in response to the events in the former Yugoslavia and
Rwanda. These tribunals were unprecedented, not only in their global
Kansas Cornfield Analysis
John Curry is an aspiring artist that grew up on a farm in Kansas. John was
influenced by nature and made wildly known artwork out of it. While living at the
farm he was inspired for his painting Kansas Cornfield . This oil on canvas was
completed in 1933 and now hangs in the Wichita Art Museum. This paintingwas one
of the first artworks acquired by the Wichita Art Museum. The time on the piece
gives the sense of John Curry s Kansashas not changed. Like every piece of art, the
painting Kansas Cornfield has meaning behind the work, an emphasis and focal
point, and space in the artwork. The meaning behind artwork is unique because
everyone has their own interpretation. One of my two interpretation of the meaning
behind Kansas Cornfield
Cinderella By Charles Perrault
Cinderella is one of the most popular fairytales of all time. According to the
SurLaLune website, there are between 345 1,500 different versions of this story.
Possibly the earliest or first Cinderella story is based on an Egyptian tale entitled
Rhodopis. What fascinates me the most about Cinderella, is that some aspects of this
story could be true. A young woman could have been mentally, emotionally, and
physically abused by familymembers and lived happily ever after. Why not right?
However, what if the story wasn t what it seemed? What if the wicked stepmother
and stepsisters really weren t wicked at all? The Stepsister s Tale was a very
surprising twist to Charles Perraults version of the Cinderellastory. What I loved
about this version was that the roles were switched.... Show more content on

I don t want to sound pessimistic towards that because there is nothing wrong with
dreaming. Everyone should strive to achieve their dreams. There was just
something about this version of Cinderella that made me feel appreciative. I
appreciated the realism, I loved reading and imagining how the girls were feeling,
and I loved that there was still romance in the story. I read some reviews on this
book and many people were bored and didn t like the twist. I didn t feel that way at
all. I thought it was exciting and mysterious! I kept wondering what would happen
next and I stayed engaged throughout the whole story. I m going to start reading
more versions of the fairy tales. They only one novel I have read aside from The
Stepsister s Tale was Ella Enchanted. I need to explore versions of Beauty and the
Beast, Rumpelstiltskin, The Little Mermaid, Red Riding Hood, etc. I want to write
books someday and I think I may write my own twists to some fairy tales. It is clear
to see that fairy tales are timeless. These tales capture so many cultures and
individuals around the world. Creating my own version of a tale could be
Essay about Campbell Soup Company Audit
Campbell Soup Company
Background
Campbell was founded shortly before the start of the Civil War. Abraham Anderson
and Joseph Campbell began manufacturing canned vegetables and fruit preserves. In
1976, Campbell bought out Anderson s interest and renamed the firm the Joseph
Campbell Preserving Company. Later, Arthur Dorrance was Campbell s new partner.
In the early 1920s, John Dorrance, Arthur Dorrance s nephew, was the sole owner of
the Campbell Soup Company, which was the largest producer of canned soup
products. Unfortunately, as the twentieth century was coming to a close, the nation s
appetite for condensed soup products was waning. The weakening demand prompted
the company s executives to use an assortment of questionable ... Show more content

These practices are trade loading, improper accounting for loading discounts, shipping
to the yard, and guaranteed sales.
Trade Loading
Campbell offered sizable trade discounts near the end of accounting period to
entice customers to make product purchases that they would otherwise defer. By
this way, a company can use price concessions to prop up its reported revenues and
profits. Plaintiffs pointed out that PwC auditors were aware of the excessive trade
loading by their client and this should have been a red flag for PwC to investigate
the possibility that their client was fraudulently misrepresenting its operating
results. The judge agree with the plaintiffs that PwC s workpapers revealed the
firm was aware of Campbell s disproportionately sales near the end of quarterly
reporting periods. However, the he disagreed with the assertion that PwC should
have considered those heavy sales a red flag. Instead, he pointed out that PwC s
workpapers referred to the large, period ending sales as a traditional trend in
Campbell s operating results.
This traditional trend may apply to Campbell s business environment, but may not to
other industry. An auditor had better understand the industry environment he or she
involves in to judge whether disproportionately sales near the end of quarterly
reporting periods are normal or not.
Improper Accounting for Loading Discount
Whether PwC would remain a defendant was whether the audit firm realized that large
The Space Race And The Space Race
The Cold War was a massive global conflict that occurred shortly after the
conclusion of World War II between the late 1940s to the mid 1990s. Former Allies
during World War II, the U.S and USSR were now formidable enemies. Tension had
built up between the two nations because of the United States anti Communist ideals
and the Soviets being unrecognized as a part of the international community. A
nuclear arms race was surfacing between the two nations when the Soviets built their
first atomic bomb. There was severe concern over the development of atomic
weapons because of the fact that they were capable of causing devastation on a global
scale. Discussions between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. had taken place throughout this
time period to mitigate the arms race. The Space Race stemmed from this conflict. It
was another area of competition between the United States and the Soviet Union for
technological, political, social, economic, and cosmic dominance. By landing on the
moon, the U.S. had effectively won the Space Race. More affirmative talks began
after the conclusion of the Space Race know as SALT or Strategic Arms Limitation
Talks to address issues over the containment of nuclear warheads. Due to the
international conflict between the U.S. and USSR known as the Space Race, the
Strategic Arms Limitation Talks resulting from its conclusion: led to global nuclear
disarmament, an improved state of relations between the two countries, and the
advancement of space technology to
The Rise Of Asymmetric Warfare
Question: Analyze the rise of asymmetric warfare. Provide illustrations and assess
how it has reshaped behaviors and outcomes.
The asymmetry in asymmetric warfare is an inherently relational concept. It refers to
an irregular conflict that is distinct by the relative dissimilarity between opponents in
battle. The asymmetry is derived from the character of warfare and dictated by the
difference in relational power amid warring sides. This asymmetry has tended to be
in terms of status and organization; means and resources, goals and objectives; and
strategies and tactics. The relationship between the belligerents in almost all conflicts
has varied in many tactical, strategic and operational levels.
A popular perception of today claims that there has been a relatively recent rise in
asymmetric warfare, or conventional irregular warfare that has transformed war from
a customary and symmetric exercise into an irregular, avant garde, asymmetric
experience. This perception is inherently at the foundation of the question in which
this essay attempts to respond. In contrast with this perspective, the main argument of
this essay is that asymmetric warfare, although definitely a characteristic of the times
is not a new genus of warfare that has risen in the twentieth century as a distinct
revolution in military affairs. Furthermore, asymmetric warfare cannot be used as a
description to describe deviation from Western norms in this case conflict. Rather,
asymmetric warfare
The Keiserschlacht or Emperor s Battle
In 1914, General Erich Ludendorff, Germany s key commander in World War I,
along with General Paul von Hindenburg, strategically placed the German Army in a
series of three 25 mile trenches in central France. This new position gave the
German s a false sense of security, which led them to believe that they would win
World War I. At first, the onslaught and brute force of the offensive proved itself
well. The Kaiserschlacht, or Emperor s Battle, quickly turned around due to lack
of supplies and heavy casualties. Since the Central Powers were becoming more
confident, they made more mistakes and thus began losing battles and eventually
the war. Greater numbers and strength of the Allied Powers ultimately led to the
slaughter and defeat of the Germans under Generals Ludendorff and Hindenburg.
Germany had the chance to end the war before the resources from the United
States could be deployed into France and Britain. In an advantage by numbers,
fearless leader Ludendorff set off to gain land for Germany and defeat the Allied
powers once and for all. The Germans knew that they had to conquer Europe before
the Americans could train soldiers and ship men and supplies to the front lines. The
addition of Americans to the Allied Powers would significantly impact the outcome
of the war. Germany still believed that they could win the war. German hope was
increased when Russia withdrew from the war in 1917. Ludendorff, a former chief of
staff under General Hindenburg, was a
Mythical Creatures in the Sculpture, Legend and Myth by...
I.Description
The sculpture Legend and Myth by Damien Hirst is a pair of sculptures depicting
two mythical creatures. Legend is a sculpture of the legendary creature known as a
Pegasus, and its counterpart, named Myth, which is a sculpture of a white unicorn.
The medium that was used to create the two sculptures was a combination of painted
gold, silver, and also bronze. The sculpture Legend measures to be 4575 x 2590 x
2260 mm or 180.1 x 102 x 89 in and was sculpted in 2010, while its companion,
Myth, measures 3590 x 2800 x 808 mm or 141.3 x 110.2 x 31.8 in and was
sculpted in 2011, which is close to the same size as the average horse you would
see in a farmyard. According to my research, the last location that these two
sculptures were displayed was at the Chatsworth House in England. Both sculptures
are flayed on the left side of their bodies, showing the anatomy that lies within the
creatures. The two sculptures face away from each other in show horse stances.
Both have the flayed part that is showing the inner parts of the creatures facing
opposite directions as well. The color of the skin on these sculptures is white, and
on the flayed portions of them, the portions that are to be depicted as muscle are red,
while the part that is to be bone is a golden color.
II.Analysis
Damien Hirst incorporated many elements of art into his creation Legend and Myth,
including the form of the plinth that both of his sculptures stand upon. The plinth

Learning Styles And Techniques Of Teaching
During my class in Curriculum, Methods, and Assessments: Science and Math, I
have had the opportunity to observe two different mathematic teachers. Through
those observations I have gained great knowledge and understanding. I was exposed
to different teaching, learning styles and techniques. Being able to observe a few
different classrooms has given me an opportunity to witness different aspects of
teaching. Through all of my observations during college of teachers I am confident
that teaching is what I want to do with the rest of my life. I will touch on a few
topics from my observationthroughout my paper such as, the objective of the lesson,
types of methods the teachers used, differentiation instruction, ways the teachers
assess learning in the classroom and changes that I could make to the lesson.
For my observations at Metzger Middle School, I had the opportunity to observe Ms.
Williams and Ms. James sixth grade Mathematics classrooms. During Ms. Williams
first period she had a Co Teacher to assist her students that were ESLs (1 student) and
IEP/504 (5 students). A student that was in a wheelchair was also amongst the
students; accommodations were made for this student, for example; the co teacher
had the student that was sitting in the first chair by the door move back a desk so
that the student could put his chair up the desk. Some of the methods that the teacher
provided were mathematical reference sheets and formula charts to help them when

The Five Types of Organizational Structure
Manager s of an organization has to use structure to help the company run efficiently.
The five types of organizational structures are functional, divisional, matrix, team
based, and virtual network (Draft, 2013, p.316). Functional structure in an
organization that is developed by grouping departments by the skills, level of
knowledge, activities done daily, and the resource used. This structure places specific
departments from the bottom to the top (Draft, 2013, p.318). For example, specific
departments such as: human resources, accounting, engineering, and manufacturing
are placed at the top, while there are mostly seen at the bottom in other organizations.
While common functions such as; people, facilities, and other resources are
combined together as a single department instead of being divided into multiple
departments. Divisional structure is known by the approach of having similar skills
and resources grouped together into divisions (Draft, 2013, p.318). This occurs when
a company has common goals that the company wants to achieve. This allows all
skills and departments to come together and produce the goal there are looking to
achieve. In this type of structure not one person is viewed as important than the next
one, because it takes everyone to work together to produce the outcome the company
wants to achieve. The matrix structure uses both functional and divisional structures
to run an organization (Draft, 2013, p.321). This allows the company to

a war that broke out, and rescue him from the rebels. All of which influenced the
development of bravery and protectiveness in her character. Sophie Biyoya

St. Augustine Of Hippo
Saint Augustine was an early Christian scholar and philosopher, whose works
affected the advancement of Western Christianity and Western philosophy. He was
the Bishop of Hippo which is situated in Africa. He is seen as a great leader
amongst the most critical Church Fathers in Western Christianity for his works in
the Patristic Era. Among his most essential works are The City of God and
Confessions. Confessions is the name of a personal work, comprising of 13 books,
by St. Augustine of Hippo. The work of Augustine talks to youth directly about the
struggles and his change to Christianity. In the work St. Augustine describes about his
ways and he laments having driven a wicked and shameless life. He talks about other

We will see the different incidents and learn from authors struggles and how he
overcame the situation. I feel in order to understand what author is trying to say
from his text, we need to understand the narrative of his confessions. St. Augustine
is writing these texts as a confession to God. And it is so beautiful to see how
openly he writes his confession, I mean he opens his heart out there, no wonder it
was encouraging for early church leaders. I love how he says in book two,
sixteenth year I purpose now to set down my past wickedness and the carnal
corruption of my soul, not for love of them but that I may love Thee, O my God. I
do it for love of Thy love, passing again in bitterness of remembrance over my most
evil ways that Thou mayest thereby grow lovelier to me Author is confessing that
he wants to turn away from his wicked path and he want to live a righteous life, He
wants to do it for God s love, he wants to clean his wicked soul and leave those
wicked paths. St. Augustine is confessing how he did not keep the count of his
friendship, he believed in love and to be loved, but when he grew up things
changed he got involved into lustful ways and forgot the real meaning of
friendship. He was blinded by the pride and was tempted which took him away
from His God. He says I should have listened more closely to these words and made
myself a eunuch for the kingdom of heaven; and so in all tranquillity awaited your
embrace. Instead I foamed in my
What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of
Electricity...
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
The global electricity sector is now facing major challenges i.e. exponentially
increasing electricity demand, fight against climatic changes and increasing trends
towards massive urbanization. The first challenge of ever mounting demands results
in continuous depletion of traditional power generation sources; these are centralized
power generation like thermal power plants i.e. combustion (coal, oil, natural),
nuclear power plants etc. and are not suited for environmental and cost issues. The
second challenge relates to the regulation of Greenhouse gas emission. These gases
are responsible for increasing the global temperature. Two third of the global
emission are carbon emissions linked to the energy sector. The third major... Show

Reduction in the overall costs.
It becomes easier to find the site for small generators.
Gas turbines, internal combustion engines methods for small generators have been
perfected and are widely practiced and others renewable resources like water, wind
solar energies are also finding wider application in recent years.
Proper allocation and sizing of DG will improve the voltage profile of electrical
power system and reduces losses in the system.
Increased utilization of transmission and distribution network capacity because DG s
units are closer to consumers and this will reduces the stress on transmission system.
Combined heat and power group do not require large and expensive heat networks.
DG s installation time is less and investment risks are also not so high.
If DG s are properly allocated, they will improve system reliability and power quality.

Louisiana Purchase
#65279;Louisiana Purchase I believe that the Louisiana Purchase was one of the
greatest impacts on American society because of the large amount of land and
how it helped our economy. In this report you will see how lucky that the United
States is to have obtained this large piece of land from France. Their are many
reasons why Napoleon had to sell this large piece of land. Napoleon thought that
this land could be a great asset to the French if they knew what to do with it. He
didn t want to sell the Louisiana territory because he still had dreams of having a
French empire in America. At this point in time Napoleon s dream would never
come true because France was almost always at war. They didn t have enough troops

The Louisiana territory was purchased by Thomas Jefferson from Napoleon on
July 14, 1803. The total cost of the whole Louisiana Purchase was about fifteen
million dollars. That is about two cents an acre. This land was a very rich farmland
that produced many crops. Included in the in the Louisiana Purchase was New
Orleans and Florida s two big sea ports. The New Orleans sea port is in the Gulf of
Mexico; it imports and exports foreign and domestic goods every day. As I have
stated before this is a very big piece of land. This land stretched as far west as the
Rocky Mountains and all the way north to Canada. It goes to the Mississippi in the
east and down in the south to the Gulf of Mexico. There is 827,987 square miles
(2,144,476 square kilometers) of land. All this land today makes up parts of 15 states
including: Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas,
Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and
Louisiana. The most important dates of the purchase are when they were signed and
who they were signed by. Concluded at Paris, Aprill30,1803;Ratification advised by
the Senate October 20,1803; Ratified by the President October21,1803; Ratifications

are when it was looked over and then it was signed. In conclusion I think that this

Vidia In Susan Glaspell s Pixie Hollow
Everyone who knows Vidia, especially if they are from Pixie Hollow, knows that
Vidia is many things. She is very mischievous, some say that is a good trait, but for
her not so much. She is very quick to cause annoyance, she causes more harm than
good with being mischievous. Some would say injurious at times. Vidia has a short
temper, may fairies have learned that quickly. The slightest littlest thing can set her
off, making her grouchy for days. In Pixie Hollow, she is said to be the fastest fairy
and she makes it known. In the real world, the streets of New York, she still makes it
known and still thinks herself better than the others. Vidia is the best fairy of them
overall and berates anyone who thinks otherwise.
Jealous? Of course, but she will never admit to it. When Tinkerbell came on the
scene that was when Vidia learned that she did have a jealous bone in her body.
How could someone like Tinker fairy? Was it the blonde hair? The fact she was
new? Or the way she looked in her little green dress and cotton balls on her flats?

that she is kind in her own way. Yea, she may have fed into the idea that Tinkerbell
had of going to the Mainland, she may of helped in the new fairy embarrassing
herself, but in the end Vidia is actually protective, caring of the fairy. In the reality
of New York, she looks out for the fairy, one would think she is smitten by the
fairy. It s no secret that Vidia swings both ways; in fact she will be the first to

Informative Essay On Kidney Stone
RIDING A ROLLER COASTER COULD HELP YOU PASS SMALL KIDNEY
STONES Riding a moderately intense roller coaster for just a few minutes might
be enough to dislodge those pesky kidney stones before they turn into an even
bigger problem. Researchers have showed that riding Thunder Mountain at Disney
World in Orlando, Florida helped Kidney Stones dislodge! Kidney stones are small
mineral deposits that form in the kidney and can be very painful to pass through the
urinary tract. The idea for the study came after a patient came to see him after a
spring break vacation down to Disney World. The patient had gone on Thunder
Mountain three times in a row. After each ride the patient passed a small kidney
stone, passing three stones in less than an hour.

  • 2. Defense Of Provocation In Australia Most Australian states have abolished or dramatically reformed the defence of provocation. Critically analyse the provocation defence and the reforms that have recently taken place in Australian states and territories. In your analysis, consider the recent NSW case which used the provocation defence and also battered woman syndrome cases. The Defence of Provocation The defence of provocation is quickly being eroded in Australian law in several different ways on a state to state basis. The defence of provocation allows perpetrators to be acquitted of murder which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and instead be tried for manslaughter which carries a considerably shorter maximum sentence. The former attorney general Rob Hulls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Had these reforms been in place at the time of the Singh v R case, his defence would be rejected as the deceased had not committed a serious indictable offence. These reforms ensure that those who act out of jealousy are not provided leniency by our judicial system, whilst ensuring that those who may otherwise act out of battered woman syndrome are not discriminated in any way. Similarly, the Crimes Act 1900 (ACT) Sect 13 dictates that: (3) However, conduct of the deceased consisting of a non violent sexual advance (or advances) towards the accused (a) is taken not to be sufficient, by itself, to be conduct to which subsection (2) (b) applies; but (b) may be taken into account together with other conduct of the deceased in deciding whether there has been an act or omission to which subsection (2) applies. The inclusion of (3) also allows for differentiation between both those who act out of jealousy of their partner and those who are facing domestic abuse from their partner. In QLD however, the Criminal Code 1899 (QLD) Sect 269 which details the defence of provocation is far more relaxed in comparison to its other Australian counterparts and in need of reform. It does not include any method of distinguishing between both a jealous act and a reaction to domestic abuse.
  • 3. Pain And Treatment Of Shoulder Pain Introduction The shoulder is one of the largest and most complex joints in the human body(1)The shoulder is not a single joint; it is an intricate arrangement of bones, muscles and ligaments, which provides strength and range of motion to the arm(1, 2). Shoulder pain accounts for between 16 21% of all musculoskeletal complaints(3, 4). There are many causes of shoulder pain such as: repetitive movements and overuse, trauma, and degenerative changes. Shoulder pain and associated glenohumeral joint movement dysfunctions are common and debilitating conditions(5). The most frequently occurring problems include: shoulder impingement, rotator cuff associated disorders, glenohumeral joint instability and adhesive capsulitis(5). Proper scapular motion and stability are considered to be crucial for the shoulder to function normally(6, 7). The scapular must serve as first, a stable base for glenohumeral function, second, a site of muscle attachment and third, a link for proximal to distal transfer of energy(2, 6, 8). Therefore abnormal functioning of the scapular will decrease normal shoulder function and predispose the shoulder to injury ((2, 5, 9). This essay aims to review the importance of scapular control during shoulder movements, and will discuss the evidence for scapular control to rehabilitate Glenohumeral joint injuries. Anatomy of the shoulder The shoulder complex is made up of four different joints. These are the articulations of the clavicle, the humerus, the
  • 4. Emotional Analysis Of CпїЅsar ChпїЅvez Saved My Life By CпїЅsar... The Faith of Words CГ©sar Chavez once said, Nonviolence is not inaction. It is not discussion. It is not for the timid or weak. Non violence is hard work. It is the willingness to sacrifice It is the patience to win. . His words inspired one young man to turn his life around and become a man of character who used his experiences to help others. In his essay CГ©sar ChГЎvez Saved My Life Daniel Nene Alejandrez tells his story of the struggle and anger towards many injustices that happen around him and his journey from channeling that anger through crime to using it to start a foundation Barrios Unidos, to help men in prison overcome poverty, and the drug and violence culture surrounding them. In his essay, Alejandrez uses key scenes from his life to convey his main theme of spiritual connection to overcome the many hardships the Latino community faces in this country. Alejandrez begins his essay with a story from his childhood. He sets up the story by giving it a time and place he is the son of a migrant worker born in a cotton field in Merigold, Mississippi. He then describes his difficult childhood using vivid language, as the son of a migrant worker he had to move many times a year and assimilate into many different schools. His family had to make ends meet with the little money they had so most of the time that meant having no shoes or one pair of pants. The social climate was also very tense, he describes it as I always remembered my experience in Texas, where
  • 5. Character Analysis Of Chuck Bass The pilot episode introduces viewers to the series plot line and its primary characters. In the first episode, Chuck appears as a privileged, woman obsessed teenager. In fact, referring to the show s primary protagonist, Serena, he suggests, that level of perfection needs to be violated. Later, referring to Blair Waldorf, he insists his friend, Nate Archibald, should tap that ass. Ultimately, Chuck only views his female counterparts as sexual objects, not human beings. Throughout the first season, in particular, Chuck is mostly characterized as three things: rich, mean, and sexually aggressive (McNear, 2017). Furthermore, he rarely thinks, or cares, about consequences because he never actually suffers any negative repercussions for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Misleadingly, Chuck guides Serena to the kitchen, where he orders the chef to make her a sandwich. While in the kitchen, he suggests, if you re looking for a way to thank me I have a couple of ideas. He then forces himself upon Serena despite her multiple pleas for him to stop. Chuck ignores her. Fortunately, Serena hits Chuck and runs away, escaping his assault. The scene highlights a number of serious concerns. First, Chuck knows Serena is drunk; therefore, she is unable to give true consent. So, even if Serena had wanted Chuck to make a move, she lacked the clear capacity to do so, thus making it a problematic sexual encounter. Second, as with many real life scenarios, Serena does not press charges against her perpetrator. In fact, she tells no one of Chuck s assault. Since he suffers no repercussions for his first offense, Chuck later assaults Jenny Humphrey at a party. Jenny, like many freshmen, is willing to do almost anything to gain popularity. Chuck, on the other hand, has power over Jenny because he is an upper classman with wealth. In the scene leading up to his assault upon Jenny, he references the purity and freshness of freshmen, hinting at the allure of Jenny s innocence. Chuck then uses his charm and social status to lure her in. Throughout the entire encounter, Jenny is visibly uncomfortable. Noticing Jenny s behavior, Chuck hands her a flute of
  • 6. I Don t Blame People For Harboring Are you nuts? Go be a doctor, at least you won t die poor. This is exactly what my grandmother said when I gave her the awful news that I wanted to write and direct films for a living. Sound familiar? This is often what aspiring creative individuals hear not to negate the special few who have thoroughly supportive relatives and friends. But for the rest of us, we get that all too recognizable tone of skepticism, doubt, and in extreme cases, outright pessimism. I don t blame people for harboring such notions, and neither should you. For every successful writer, dancer, actor, or director, there are thousands more that didn t succeed. Everyone knows the story of some young actor who runs off to Hollywood only to become a waiter that never gets his big break. These stories permeate and have emerged as some form of cautionary tale. Are you scared yet? Thinking of giving up and getting a real job? Don t be. If every hopeful artist gave up, the world would be bleak, humorless, and uninspired. There would be no Quintin Tarantino s or David Bowie s. Now, I admit, diving into the entertainment industry is scary and takes a lot of intestinal fortitude. However, it our madness, determination, and passion for our work that propelled us to exclaim, I want to create, in the first place. And it is that mindset that sets us apart. Someone else who had a dream and pushed towards it is no other than James Cameron. His path toward success did not start off easy, and like the rest of
  • 7. The Lake House Pulling up to the lake house, I looked over at my older sister, Clara, who was busy staring through the window of the old truck. Every year, my Dad s whole side of the family stays together for a week every summer. Ever since I can remember, we ve stayed at this huge, old lake house in Columbia, South Carolina. Clara and I hate being here. Strange things happen in this house... plates fall out 5432wqof cabinets and voices echo in the house throughout the night. Nevertheless, my grandparents still loved coming here and made us visit every year. Clara, my Dad, and I are the last ones to arrive because our flight from Chicago was overlaid two hours. I missed Chicago already, the constant buzz of people and the bright lights. Walking up to the house, everything felt the same as it always did. The humidity is choking, making it hard to breathe. The sun is blinding and the temperature is somewhere in the 90 s, as to be expected late July in South Carolina. The lake smells like dead fish. Always, no matter what. We walked up the old, wooden stairs. The light blue paint was chipping off the door, and the door itself looked like it was about to fall of the hinges. Clara let herself in, pulling her lime suitcase behind her. My two little cousins, Reagan and Matthew, immediately saw her and squealed with joy. Everyone loved Clara, her bubbly personality easy to get along with. No one, on the other hand, was ever excited to see me. I was the quiet one, overlooked by

About a year ago, I started as an Applied Behavior Analyst Technician where I serve autistic children through therapeutic behavioral services and I must say I really fell in love with my job and the kids I work with every day. It has motivated me to carry on with my educational goals and continue working with children. ABA Technician is a great job to have and you gain lots of experience but what made me motivated even more to apply for M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction (Applied Behavior Analysis) is to gain more information, so that I am able to utilize the techniques and study the mind and behaviorof individuals. I know if I am honored acceptance and I am successful in completion through the M.Ed. Curriculum and Instruction (Applied Behavior Analysis) program it will help me fulfill my dream and career goal of becoming BCBA and it will expand my resources so that I am able to apply them towards the individuals that I will be working with. A quality that I believe is critical to working with an individual with special needs is having a positive attitude. It is very important that you maintain your attitude and keeping your team and children motivated while working towards the continued success and also keeping energy levels up. Children can feed off your energy, so if you re walking around feeling down or upset a child can pick up on your attitude and sometimes this can cause problem

She is a blank. She is what you want her to be. Her name is Lulu, and she is nothing but trouble (Gardner). The First Lulu gleans the drama, deception, lies, and vengeance akin to play s Don Giovanniand Don Juan. However, one of the primary differences remains is Lulus character is a woman. However, Lulu is no less cunning, in fact her character is more cavalier and unrepentant in her unfaithfulness to men compared to Don Giovanni and Don Juan combined. Modern History Research Essay: The Russian Revolution (Task 1) Assess the role of the Bolsheviks for the decline and fall of the Romanov dynasty. The beginning of the 20th century brought radical changes to the social and political structure of autocratic Russia. It was a period of regression, reform, revolution and eradication. Eradication of a blood line that had remained in rule for over 300 years; the Romanov Dynasty. The central figure of this eradication was Tsar Nicholas II, often described as an incompetent leader, absent of the commanding personality nor the strong character and prompt decision which are so essential to an autocratic ruler... The 1905 revolution can be considered as the pinnacle event that accelerated the downward spiral of Tsar Nicholas s rule and Russia s adherence to their little father . From this point onwards Nicholas was referred to by the people as not their little father but Nicholas the Bloody . The present ruler has lost absolutely the affection of the Russian people, and whatever the future may have in store for the dynasty, the present tsar will never again be safe in the midst of his people. (The American consul in Odessa). This revolution was an uprising of people from all levels of society and was not an uprising organised by any group in particular. The Bolsheviks played a minimal role in the 1905 revolution as most of their leaders were living in exile and their impact and influence on the workers in that year was weak as well as having no Duma faction. This demonstrates that the Bolsheviks had a minor role in the pinnacle events that led to the downfall of the Romanov dynasty but rather gained support after Nicholas abdication. The years following the 1905 revolution seemed to show a lull amongst the people but unrest soon returned to the cities. In the months leading up to WWI, St. Petersburg was paralysed by strikes, with workers and police officers fighting hand to hand battles on the street.

Accompanying Nationalism and Sinocentrism was rebellion and unrest. Twenty four historic dynasties followed a common pattern of development. • 17. Recruiting Orienting a New Generation The millennial s are coming. This can be a very shocking and disturbing thing to many employers and managers. There is a new generation entering the workforce that many see as difficult, lazy, and foreign. While the years vary, millennial s generally are represented by people in the United States born in between 1980 2000 (Kuhl, 2014). This is a new generation of employees who think very differently than past generations and have a very different perception of the employee employer relationship. Many companies are struggling with recruiting this generation into their workforce and even more companies are plagued by extremely high attritions rates within this demographic. If the company is bragging about its casual atmosphere, a very formal interview process may contradict that perception (Lukens, 2014). Likewise understanding that my generation does not plan on working more than is required so being clear about work expectations and being honest about work life balance are important. My generation will check all of these facts against employee reviews and will generally be able to find discrepancies quickly (Kuhl, 2014). Here items such as the ability to telecommute or work flex hours will come off as very attractive to my generation. The second focus point within recruiting is understanding that my generation communicates very differently. Because my generation embraces technology so much communication is expected to be short and immediate. Likewise my generation expects to be able to utilize technology for the application. This means companies that utilize online tools such as LinkedIn and email will have an advantage with my generation. Likewise my generation will not understand why it may takes weeks or months to complete a formal hiring process (Kuhl, 2014). Companies with expatiate hiring process will be seen as much more attractive. Lastly, power in my generation is not linked to status or money, it is linked to knowledge. This is an extremely important thing to understand about millennial s. Millennial s really do not value money the same way previous generations did but they do value the ability to do something

Certain aspects of the fiction including the use of literary devices such foreshadowing, symbolism, allusion were impressive. Despite the favorable parts about the novel, there were parts which I disliked and were disturbing. After some research about the context, I realized that the novel is a mirror of its time. The cutoff date for making the elite team is also January 1st; meaning that all the hockey players born close to the cutoff date would be enrolled for the next year and therefore, have a whole year on people born in December of that same year. Not only are the early month players physically developing more quickly, but they also get more practice, which causes them to be more successful than others and have a huge advantage. The same results also appeared in Czech junior soccer teams as the cut off date was also January 1st. Gladwell states, ...the Czech soccer coaches might as well have told everyone born after mid summer that they should pack their bags and go home (27). As stated in the final step of evaluating ethical conflicts, one should consider leaving the relationship with the given organization, so they are not in violation of the code. While there is not a law that requires one to whistle blow, there are laws that have been put in place to ensure that

  • 25. Beauty And Beauty In Frankenstein Beauty is pain. It is a common thought and a pervasive one for not only do people define beauty by the amount of suffering a person undergoes but goodness is defined similarly. The two concepts are inextricably related. Studies have shown beautiful people are perceived as of good character while those ugly and deformed seem inherently mischievous and untrustworthy (Dorsey). Yet, everyone has at one time or another met an individual whose beauty is only superficial. Admittedly, this natural instinct toward prejudgment is difficult to control. Examples of individuals violating these instinctual rules of beauty and morality fill the pages of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Indeed, in her novel, Shelly recognizes and accentuates humanity s prejudice toward ugliness in order to contrast with her personal definitionof beauty one that recognizes virtue as the basis of beauty regardless of physical form so that her theme, that humanity is less above the beast in virtue and intelligence then it believes, is revealed. In a novel that is quite brimming with depictions of horrid acts of violence and mental agony, it is surprising how much time is spent describing beauty. Quite often as an escape from said agony, Victor, the eponymous protagonist, strolls through the nature surrounding his Genevois dwelling. The oft visited nearby lake is described by Victor as a scene so beautiful and heavenly (Shelley, 95) before he considers drowning himself in that peaceful body. To describe a

In his famous text, Cuban Counterpoint: Tobacco and Sugar, Ortiz explains how the cultures and peoples that descended upon the island, beginning with the native Ciboney and Taino, did not simple assume one another s culture, but converged to create completely new cultures and societal norms (Ortiz, 99). Though sadly, the majority of these original tribes were completely eliminated by the Spanish, they remain alive in words such as, manatee, hammock, hurricane, and tobacco (Kronenburg, 51). However, to say that Spanish and African peoples descended upon Cuba would be misleading; hence the more accurate use of transculturation to describe the intersection of a range of cultures from the Iberian Peninsula including Galicians, Basque, Portuguese, and from western Africa including Congolese, Angolan, and Guinean (Kronenburg, 52). Even more interesting than the etymology of Cuba s ethnic history is the implications of how transculturation played into the historical and social construction of power dynamics in Cuba. Ortiz states that throughout Cuban history, one culture was not only attempting to gain power and wealth for themselves, but systematically set up a culture that disenfranchised another population; this is seem most directly with the institution of slavery by the Spanish (Ortiz, 101). The power dynamic created by the institution of slavery can certainly be pointed to as a

The first poster for Dr No shows that James Bond is a new, never seen before film as the logo 007 is printed on the poster more than once in bold lettering, and the name James Bond is also printed, whereas in the poster for the World Is Not Enough the 007 logo is only used once in small lettering and James Bond is not used at all, because by this time the ... The genre of the film is far more evident in the poster for The World Is Not Enough . The images used connote an action film that has many different narratives. The poster is lively and eye catching and is full of bright, vivid images. The poster fits in very well with the title of the film, as it looks like James Bond is going to embark on some international mission, the image of some of the continents in flames shows this. There are also several images circling around the main characters in the film, which look futuristic and scientific and feature explosions and car chases. Comparing the two posters also shows how technology and science has progressed through the decades and this is very apparent in the 1999 film poster, which looks far more advanced, as far as gadgets and weapons go. The Dr No poster does not specify the genre so well. It could be for several different genres. It indicates that it could possibly be a spy or mystery film, which is partly true of the James Bond movies. James Bond is shown in the Dr No film poster as a silhouette, it suggests that he could be a very elusive

At one time or another many of us have harbored a secret fantasy to club that lethargic laggard between the eyes so he will understand what needs to get done. Some upper level managers with a reservoir of power could actually do so. History and literature, including management literature, are replete with notorious examples of power abuse and the disasters that emanated from them. If managers lack this historical perspective, or an engrained sense of ethics, they must hope that at least the rudder of their own temperament will guide them successfully. Without any of these supports, a myopic mindset may impel them to use their power in destructive ways, eventually dissipating it. Other top level managers can shoulder burdens and deliver results in more subtle fashion. They have learned that power abuse can curtail effectiveness. They know the downside risks of unilateral imposition and have acquired the expertise, experience and empathy to avoid these pitfalls. Experience can instill appreciation for unintended consequences, and training can imbue ethical precepts. Many scholars attribute the long term durability of organizations, and even whole societies, to successful

Prior to the events of World War II, a cogent set of laws defining those human rights, much less violations therein were never heard at an international scale. The International Criminal Court has the role as both appellate for justice and voice for peace in the international community but has not yet resolve the contradictory ends of both roles. That contradictory end is that many countries proclaim the necessity of the International Criminal Court as an advocate for conflict resolution and peace advocacy while being resist or outright antagonistic towards the court when their own state has committed those same crimes. Tension had built up between the two nations because of the United States anti Communist ideals and the Soviets being unrecognized as a part of the international community. • 44. The Rise Of Asymmetric Warfare Question: Analyze the rise of asymmetric warfare. Provide illustrations and assess how it has reshaped behaviors and outcomes. The asymmetry in asymmetric warfare is an inherently relational concept. It refers to an irregular conflict that is distinct by the relative dissimilarity between opponents in battle. The asymmetry is derived from the character of warfare and dictated by the difference in relational power amid warring sides. This asymmetry has tended to be in terms of status and organization; means and resources, goals and objectives; and strategies and tactics. The relationship between the belligerents in almost all conflicts has varied in many tactical, strategic and operational levels. A popular perception of today claims that there has been a relatively recent rise in asymmetric warfare, or conventional irregular warfare that has transformed war from a customary and symmetric exercise into an irregular, avant garde, asymmetric experience. This perception is inherently at the foundation of the question in which this essay attempts to respond. In contrast with this perspective, the main argument of this essay is that asymmetric warfare, although definitely a characteristic of the times is not a new genus of warfare that has risen in the twentieth century as a distinct revolution in military affairs. Furthermore, asymmetric warfare cannot be used as a description to describe deviation from Western norms in this case conflict. Rather, asymmetric warfare

The Kaiserschlacht, or Emperor s Battle, quickly turned around due to lack of supplies and heavy casualties. Since the Central Powers were becoming more confident, they made more mistakes and thus began losing battles and eventually the war.
