Hurricanes are large gusts of wind that are concentrated usually in a spiral. There are three different
types of this storm: cyclones, hurricanes and typhoons. Why The Frankenstorm is called a hurricane is

BIC, a disposable consumer product manufacturer, was founded in 1945. The product I chose to
research is the most common, the BIC Cristal ballpoint pen. BIC was created in France, now it has
spread its reach to the far corners of the world. BIC sells everything from pens, to lighters, to water
sports equipment.
Description
The BIC Cristal is made up of several materials. The majority of the pen is plastic. The variety of
plastic is called polystyrene. When polystyrene is produced it emits chlorofluorocarbons.
Chlorofluorocarbon is a toxic gas that has about 1200 times the effect of carbon dioxide on the
atmosphere. The plastics of the pen are manufactured in China, The US, France, And the Netherlands.

The first being the plastic, now obviously there still needs to be some plastic in the pens for them to
work, but the outside casing can easily switched to a different material. To make the pens last long I
would suggest steel, or for a more natural approach, wood. The tungsten carbide is the worst element
of the pen. I think that it could easily be replaced with steel also, or even a different alloy. The pens
may be lower quality, but they would cost less to make. In addition to this, the product would be more
aesthetically pleasing if the casing was wood or steel. Right now the all natural look is in, and the
wood casing would give the pen a rugged look, sure to boost sales. They can also look for a different
place to mine their tungsten carbide. In addition to that the steel manufacturing plants are in two
