Theu.s. Is A Unique And Special Country
The fact that some Mexicans send money back to Mexico to their families causes Americans to
speculate and, as a result, believe that they are too unattached to the pride that they should have while
living in this country because of their close ties still with Mexico. In contrast to that, eighty percent
said in the survey that, if they had to go through the process of immigration all over again, they would
because the U.S. is a unique and special country (Farkas). Based on that high percentage alone, there
can be no real debate on the intentions of Mexicans moving here other than those that are
encouraging.
Donald Trump, of course, attempted to challenge that statistic. During his campaign, he claimed, The
worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican government... They
re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems to us. They re
bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists (Walker).
It seems that Donald may have a slightly narrow view of the number of people who actually fit into
these categories versus the total number of people attempting to enter the country. Based on
previously stated evidence, their intentions for moving to the United States were to gain a higher
quality of life by getting a job, not solely to sell drugs and act as rapists. Now that he has been elected
as our president, many Mexicans are currently living in fear of what the next step in his plan of action
is.
They now

The Struggle Of Survival By Sherman Alexie
The Struggle of Survival
Imagine growing up in a place where everyone is poor, there is only one road going through the town,
one school, and one store. Now imagine having a tragic ancestral history of people who were taken
advantage of, massacred, and forced into the slums of society. For the people who live in this place,
this means there are little to no resources or opportunities to prosper and make a better life. Also
everyone there is being dragged down by a history of abuse and these misfortunes are still affecting
them in present day. The book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie
follows a young Indian boy through his experiences on an Indian reservation. in the short stories
Alexie demonstrates the good, the bad, and the ugly of what goes on native American reservations.
There is a deep longing of men to be warriors, because they have a need to get ahead of their tragic
history, and survive the harsh societies that try to keep them down, as second class citizens.
Native Americans are constantly trying to escape their tragic history. The short story Every Little
Hurricane observes a typical night for a young native American boy on an Indian reservation. he
describes the adults surrounding him getting drunk and being reckless. towards the end of This night
the boy describes a significant moment when his uncle and father have a drunken petty fight. the fight
is described as, Witnesses. They were all witnesses and nothing more. For

Child Discipline
Forms of Discipline: What is best for the child?
Children are like flowers, if well taken care of they will bloom. If ignored or tortured, they will wither
and die. Child discipline is one of the most important elements of successful parenting. Today, many
people have this notion that physical abuse is in no way a solution to helping children discern between
right and wrong. Since generations children have been taught the art of discipline through physical
punishment. Often this approach to disciplining has resulted in two outcomes, one is where the child
becomes more tolerant and is willing to adhere to what he/she has been told, or the other which more
often results in children developing a sense of anguish and desire to revolt. ... Show more content on

Today, there is a common misconception that spanking is a form of child abuse. Some parents are
actually afraid to discipline their own children using the same method used for their own upbringing.
Who is correct in the notion of right and wrong discipline? Is there such a thing as a correct way to
spank your child? In my opinion, there is. So, my objective is to show that there is a fine line between
the two terms Spanking and Child abuse. A Cambridge Dictionary states that Child Abuse occurs
when adults intentionally treat children in a cruel or violent way. On the other hand, Spanking in the
same dictionary means to hit a child with the hand, usually several times on the bottom as a
punishment. In this way, the line between the two can be drawn where too much spanking results in
bruises and scars on the child. Therefore, parents should not spank their children when they are angry
themselves as the spank would turn out to be an unintentional smack. When this occurs, parents tend
to accidently take out their frustration on the child. Primarily, this is when Spanking, a form of
discipline, starts drifting towards the entire concept of child abuse .
However, this misconception has led to many unwanted situations where parents have been sent to jail
by their own children. In a general

Essay on Arundhati Roy’s The God of Small Things
Some believe that boundaries are made to be broken, that lines are meant to be crossed while others
believe that we should not move an ancient boundary stone set up by [our] forefathers (Proverbs
22:28). Everywhere we look, we come across a moral boundary that we at least think we should not
cross, but cross nonetheless. As ye sow, ye shall reap is a familiar proverb we have all heard at one
point in our lives (Roy 31). But is it true? Do we really get what we deserve? And if so, who then
decides what is right and wrong? Who draws the line? Who sets the boundary? In Arundhati Roy s
The God of Small Things, most of the characters cross a moral boundary, we see boundaries that are
accommodated, confronted and even shattered. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the novel it becomes virtually impossible to think of the twins Velutha and Estha as two
separate individuals but as one person. Estha has many issues and emotions that he continually
suppresses while Rahel is damaged mentally by her mothers crude, judgmental comments as well as
neglect force her and Estha to rely merely on each other. These pent up emotions only become
unbearable and in a desperate attempt to release their emotions and express their feelings the two
share intercourse which seemed to be the only escape, Only that what they shared that night was not
happiness, but hideous grief. Only that once again they broke the Love Laws. They lay down who
should be loved (311). The ever so discrete language and brief description in this scene could easily be
overlooked. It brings a tone that isn t in any way disturbing but necessary. It brings a sense of relief
because the twins finally discover a way to truly become one in the most intimate way and share their
pain with one another making the idea of incest almost obsolete the idea of the twins sharing
something as powerful as intercourse becomes completely acceptable . However what makes
something like incest acceptable but Estha s encounter with Orangedrink Lemondrink Man burtal,
unacceptable and viewed as severely breaking a boundary and crossing the line? He got a cold bottle

Reform Movement During The Civil War
The fastest growing country in the world, during the reform era from 1820 to 1860, was the United
States. Technology and the innovations provided from it brought a dream of prosperity for all races
and creeds. As the northern middle class grew, so did the reform movement. This growth in the middle
class and growth of immigrants coming into America caused some individuals to change their outlook
of schools, slavery, and women s rights. Though great strides were started in this time period, it was
met with a lot of hostility and resentment. It was an uphill journey when it came to the institutional
changes necessary to cause reform. In the period before the Civil War there were many significant
reform movements in American history. During this time we see reformers dedicate to causes such as
free public schools, legal and political rights for women, and ending slavery. In our textbook we see
that industrial change led to a large migration of immigrants from Europe to move to America for a
better life. The first large scale factories were erected in New England, and for the next thirty years,
the United States had the most rapidly developing industrial economy in the world (Goldfield, Page
315). At this time the middle class grew as well. This group led to a large population of individuals
who believed that social reform was necessary to provide a better future for their children. Since the
middle class was an ever growing presence, they believed that free

The Mythology Of The Scandinavian Culture
Scandinavia myths, like many other cultures tend to focus on the male gods and less on the goddesses.
Odinn and Odr are the two central gods that are most often focused on in the Scandinavian culture.
Two female figures however, play a fairly prominent role Freyja and Frigg. The focus of my research
is on Freya but the more information I uncovered the more I realized that with one along comes the
other. Freya and Frigg depending on the mythology are the same person or are two individual
goddesses who were close and complimented one another. From other religions we know that the
same god or goddess could appear under different names, usually owning to the fact that he or she
once had a by name, which related to a cult place or a specific function (Näsström 70). I decided to
research Freya because of how closely linked she is to freedom, sexuality and the idea of magic.
Growing up and hearing about Freya she was always talked about as a fairy or nymph, not as a
goddess in the way that I would imagine Ishtar or the Virgin Mary. This is most likely due to the fact
that she was described as a mischievous seducer.
Frigg appears as Odinn s wife, she is the patroness of the home and a relative model of social virtue.
Freyja, on the other hand is sexually very free and active. Many of her actives and practices are seen
as magic, which placed her firmly outside of the sphere of normal society; she might be called the
wild woman of Northern Myth. Both goddesses have similarities,

The Four Noble Truths Of Buddhism And Nirvana
The Buddhist religion focuses on enlightenment, human suffering, the Four Noble Truths of
Buddhism, and Nirvana. The first, and most important key when understanding the path of
enlightenment is that understanding Buddha s teachings known as the Four Noble Truths. The
Buddhist religion focuses on the Four Noble Truths, which if followed guarantees the cure for human
suffering. I personally think that the Four Noble Truths represent a good approach to life because
human suffering comes from the choices we make in life and how we choose to live. The Four Noble
Truths give a good guidance towards happiness by educating you with the right aspirations. I like the

There is no self separable form a non self. In the West this is misunderstood because the meaning of
self is not an essence or entity, is taken as self does not exist at all by people who have not imagined
any to his/her scheme of existence than entities. Traditional Western concept of self believe that every
person is entitled to one, and that it it s the self which acts or experiences. The notion of self
contributes to the suffering of human beings in that human project reality onto an illusory Ego for the
purpose of gratification. The misery of life is cause by self centeredness and the constant desire to
satisfy one s own needs. With that being said ego desire is the very root of all evil, including greed,
lust, hatred, lying, deceit, and crime. Eliminating the ego puts an end to unhappiness. Self
concentration does not allow the pursuit of truth and righteousness. Also, one s addictions contributes
to the suffering of humans in that it sets people for self destruction. Such addictions cause people to
lose everything that is significant to them which leads to suffering. People are free to make choices but

Panda Persuasive Speech
Have you ever heard of an Ailuropoda Melanoleuca? Most likely not, but I bet you have heard of a
panda bear. Both are correct ways of recognizing the animal, one just sounds a little fancier. The panda
bear has been around for approximately three million years and we are still learning new things about
them all the time. Pandas may seem like very boring creatures because of their lack of activity during
their lifetimes, but they are actually extremely fascinating and not to mention very adorable. We ve all
had a time where we ve seen a cute, little, baby panda at the zoo and thought, I want one! . There are
so many interesting facts about pandas that everyone should know. You will be learning about the
background of pandas, why their population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The population of pandas has been decreasing rapidly since 1990. Habitat loss and poaching are the
two major reasons for the pandas becoming on the brink of extinction. Humans have been destroying
the forests in which pandas live for decades now, causing them to have to relocate to regions they
were not familiar with. Losing their natural habitat meant that they also lost their main food source.
Pandas would starve causing hundreds to die. The loss of their home also left them extremely
vulnerable to predators in the new area. All of the little effects of pandas losing their habitat are what
caused a major drop in their population. The second biggest reason for the decline in their population
is poaching. Hunters and poachers target pandas mainly for their big fur coats. Poaching is illegal
everywhere and is a big reason for population decrease for other animals as well. The third reason for
the drop in pandas is their inability to reproduce quickly. The female pandas are only fertile once a
year for a period of two or three days. They usually only have one pup and that pup stays with the
mother for at least two years. After that, the panda is on its own. However, female pandas only need to
be about 5 years old before they can start reproducing, but the catch is males have to be about 7 years
old. The demand for baby pandas is extremely high so that the population to grow, but the time it takes
to do so is hurting the population more. With all that said, the population of the panda bear is
decreasing faster than it is increasing, which is a major problem that many organizations are working

An Analysis of Marketing Strategy at Bass Pro Shops
An Analysis of Marketing Strategy at Bass Pro Shops
Introduction
Today, Bass Pro Shops is a multi billion dollar enterprise that specializes in sporting and hunting
equipment. The company s current position is a far cry from its modest beginnings in 1971 when the
company s founder, Johnny Morris began selling fishing lures on just two shelves in his father s liquor
store. With fifty two retail outlets as well as a number of Outdoor World superstores in the United
States and Canada, a user friendly Web site and extensive mail catalog sales, Bass Pro Shops has
become a leading sporting and hunting goods in North America today. To determine how the company
achieved this impressive growth, this paper provides an analysis of Bass Pro Shop s corporate strategy
using Ansoff s Growth Strategies and Porter s generic strategies for growth, the company s market
segmentation and marketing mix. Finally, an assessment of appropriate Bass Pro Shop s marketing
metrics is followed by a summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion.

Should The Driving Age Be Raised To 18
On a daily basis, millions of teenagers around the United States use driving as their main source of
transportation. Many teens are interested in being able to drive at a younger age, even after obtaining a
driving permit, but it is unclear if they are able to handle such a monumental task. The driver s license
age requirement should be increased to the age of 18. Increasing the age requirement might not benefit
the teens that need reliable transportation to go to their workplace and support their family and
themselves financially, but some argue that earning income at such a young age is too much trouble
for an individual. The State of Virginia should raise the driving age to 18 because teenagers are
irresponsible and need more time to practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to TIME magazine, there have been cases where teenagers have caused traffic accidents
due to having road rage. This shows how teenagers have little control over their emotions while
driving which could cause accidents or lead to someone s death. In Fairfax High School, there are
many students who would fall asleep in class because they go to bed very late at night. This states how
students cannot manage their time wisely that can lead to their academic failure. In a recent poll by
Washington Post, 15% of teens are arrested for drinking and driving after partying at a friend s house.
This shows how teens are immature behind the wheel and don t consider about the safety of
themselves and the others around them when doing foolish acts. Obviously, the State of Virginia must

The Basic Concepts Of Urls And Internet Cookies Essay
In this current internet savvy generation, URL is a fairly common abbreviation which is widely used
as a word in itself, without much thought for what it actually stands for or what it is comprised of. In
this paper, the basic concepts of URLs and internet Cookies are discussed with focus on its importance
in Analytics point of view.
URL
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, and is used to specify addresses on the World Wide Web.
In simple terms, an URL is the fundamental network identification for any resource connected to the
web (e.g., hypertext pages, images, and sound files) (1).
URLs have the following format:
Protocol://hostname/other_information
For example, the URL for Saint Joseph s University s home page is: https://www.sju.edu The protocol
specifies how information from the link is transferred. The protocol used for web resources is Hyper
Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP). Other protocols compatible with most web browsers include HTTPS,
FTP, telnet, newsgroups, and Gopher. The protocol is followed by a colon, two slashes, and then the
domain name. The domain name is the computer on which the resource is located. Links to particular
files or subdirectories may be further specified after the domain name. Directory names are separated
by single forward slashes. For example, in the following URL https://www.sju.edu/majors programs
https, is the protocol; www.sju.edu, is the domain name and majors programs is the directory name.

Hummingbirds Essay
On a nice spring day the buzzing sound of a hummingbird flying can often be heard, and people look
out the window for a chance to see the intriguing little bird. There are over three hundred and fifty
species of hummingbirds some as far south as Chile and others as far north as Alaska. Hummingbirds
are beautiful creatures that range five cm. to twenty cm. tall. The remarkable birds are the only type of
birds who can fly backwards and are characterized by their long beaks. With so many different types
of these fascinating birds most people don t stop to think they could be in danger. Hummingbirds are
an endangered species because of the causes of they re endangerment, what they need to survive, and
the effects of their endangerment on humanity. There are many different causes of hummingbird
endangerment. When a species is considered endangered it means the species is seriously at risk of
extinction. One of the biggest causes is hummingbird s vulnerability. Hummingbirds small size makes
them very vulnerable to larger predators. With so many larger predators catching the little birds their
numbers are dropping. Climate change is really hurting the small birds. As the climate changes the
hummingbirds who migrate get confused when they have to leave. If they stay in a cold area too long
and don t go south the harsh winter can kill them. Most of the hummingbirds however are getting
killed when their habitats are destroyed. Humans are destroying hummingbird habitats to expand

Essay Ludwig Van Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven
Beethoven s importance lies not only in his work, but also in his life
(Tames, 4). Included in my report is proof that Beethoven was one of the greatest composers of the
Romantic era. In this proof is a brief description of his life. This will help you understand how he felt
when he wrote his music.
Also, there will be a description of all his symphonies.
On December 16 or 17, 1770, (date uncertain) at 515 (now 20) Bonngasse Bonn,
Germany Beethoven, like Mozart, was born into a small family (Comptons, 1). He took his first
lessons on March 26, 1778, (Schmit, 10). In 1787, he went to

Beethoven s third symphony, made in 1803, is the one where he started writing his style which was
quite recognizably his own, rather than based on a previous composer (Tames, 16). The third
symphony, originally called Bonaparte, was named after Napoleon Bonaparte. Later, Beethoven
changed the name to
quot;Sinfonia Eroica quot; (Schmit, 36). Two times as long as any one of Mozart s or
Hayden s symphonies, the third symphony challenged the idea of what a symphony is. The fourth
Symphony was written in 1807. This symphony shows Beethoven as a good humored person (Schmit,
39). This symphony was smaller and more appealing than the third symphony, and had a more lively
style (Thompson, 25).
In the year of 1808, he wrote the fifth symphony. He went with Hayden to Esterházy Palace at
Eisenstadt. His fifth is one of his most famous symphonies. Work on the fifth was started before the
fourth and was published after the fourth. This is one of the most popular symphonies of all time, and
was performed on the 22 of December 1808. (Schmit, 41) This symphony was made popular because
he used many instruments that were not normally use in orchestral works at that time (Thompson, 26).
The sixth symphony, is in a class of its own.

Analysis Of Frankenstein And The Island Of Dr. Moreau....
Throughout history we have had times of innovation and creation, we have tried to control nature and
have succeeded in some aspects, however; humans are not truly sovereign over nature, and we have
never achieved a perfect creation. In both Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, and The Island of Dr. Moreau
by H.G Wells, man s creation ends up destroying them which essentially symbolizes that man cannot
truly act as a god because he will surely fail in a catastrophic manner, almost as if man is being
punished for acting as a false god; it is also shown in both stories that the creations that man makes are
attempts to manipulate and master nature, and we see that whenever man even slightly gives up his
control it can lead to unforeseen, almost cataclysmic consequences. These ideas are most clearly
displayed by H.G Wells in The Island of Dr.Moreau, because Moreau believes that he is above nature
and can control the wild instincts of the beast men, and he also displays himself as a god to the beast
men. In Frankenstein these ideas are more implicitly shown. H.G Wells does a better job overall of
displaying these ideas In The Island Of Dr. Moreau as it is more explicit when showcasing these ideas.
One of the main ideas that is common to both of the novels is that when man takes the role of a creator
or deity upon himself that he fails catastrophically, almost as if man is punished for this. In The Island
of Dr. Moreau, it is apparent that Moreau created the beast men so he could rule

As someone who identifies as gender variant, this video was an absolute delight. The idea of a middle

pushed me over the edge. I don t think I ll ever be able to emotionally detach myself from films like
this when cultural perspectives (though clearly not applied to all of Hawaiian society) actively help
kids dismantle gender binaries before they frame their entire being. Kane wahine and wahine kane still

Race, Ethnicity And Gender
Diversity is increasing in the western countries rapidly, hence it leads to discrimination in race,
ethnicity and gender. The question that arises is about fairness, appropriateness and equality between
among races and ethnicities. The paper is focused determining whether offenders are discriminated
because their race in parole decision making process. Parole is permanently or temporarily release
from prison or from offender s sentence. There are three types of parole releases: discretionary release,
mandatory and unconditional release. The primary focus will be on discretionary release and what
factors come to play when board members make a decision for a parole. There is no definite evidence
that there is racism in parole because the results of the studies are complex. However, racial inequality
exists throughout the justice system. Racial inequality exists in the process of the parole decision
making because a race is discriminated when looking at the legal criteria for parole, assessing future
risks to protect the community and when the system experiences overcrowding. Parole officers are
responsible for establishing whether an inmate is ready for a release and deciding the conditions of the
release (Huebner and Bynum 2008: 908). Parole decisions making process are provided with
guidelines when making a decision. The parole officers focus various characteristics of the offender

HEDGE FUNDS
To escape income tax returns these are famous as they are not susceptible to high tax rates on ordinary

What is a Foundation?
It can be said as a pool of money with a group of employees to invest that money and also give a part
of the pool to organizations with a set of objectives. Donated money is tax exemplary. To get tax free
status at least 5% of the foundation must be distributed. The returns are taxed only if the returns are
from the businesses run by the foundation. It can be invested in off shore as well.

Louisiana State Politics Analysis
Louisiana State Politics
John Kenneth Galbraith once said Nothing is so admirable in politics as a short memory. While in
many ways this is an accurate statement within the political realm of the United States there are many
times that politics is greatly affected by the memories of the past. This is especially true of the
Southern United States. The South has its own perspective and history that impacts the political
environment and unities the region unlike anywhere else in the United States. However, as united as
the South has been on the national level there are vast differences to be found on the state level. This
paper will offer an overview of one of the Southern States politics in particular, that of Louisiana.

V.O. Key Jr. stated it best when he wrote ...a people ruled by a military government will retain an
antipathy toward the occupying power. This lingering distrust and backlash against Northern control
and the recently freed slaves is one of, it not the most, pivotal factor in the formation of the South as
distinct political arena with its own views, rules, voting habits, and culture. Many Southerners felt that
to face the terms that congress had demanded for reentry into the Union were tantamount to
submission, degrading, and invited further demands and to bow before them was to lose the honor of
the South. In face of this mentality the North preceded to vote in the Reconstruction acts, import
political supporters from the North, and enforce military control in the Southern states. These
outsiders were known as scalawags and the enforced Republican rule lead to the now freed slaves
being vilified and equivocated with leading the Republican Party. The occurrences of violence against
the newly freed slaves was more endemic than ever before. A reactionary faction arose in Louisiana
that eventually resulted in its government being liquidated and the state placed into a military district
with Texas and under the direction of Union General Sheridan. This resulted in a new state
constitution which was ratified in 1868. The constitution that emerged provided for equal citizenship,
the black franchise, equal public accommodations, and public education. However, this new
government under military control was heavily supported by the African American Republican vote
and faced extreme opposition by the Redeemers and paramilitary groups such as the Ku Klux Klan.
By 1874 the support of Reconstruction was crumbling in the face of the opposition of the South and
the weariness of the North. While New Orleans was a Republican stronghold, the rest of the state was
slowly, if violently returning to

The Role Of The CIAAid In Afghanistan
The CIA has played a prominent role combating radical Islamic groups in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and
the Middle East since 1979. After the soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, the CIA even funded
some of these groups in order to embarrass their main enemy at the time, the Soviet Union. They did
not, however, account for the fallout that would occur after the Soviets left. To a certain extent, the
terrorist attacks on 9/11 were a blowback from CIA policies in that region, and the attacks, arguably,
could have been prevented.
Firstly, it is important to understand the reasoning for the United States to support the Afghani rebels,
or the Mujahedeen, against their Soviet invaders. Afghanistan was a mess. In 1978, the President

American officials to their quick rise however, was indifference. They did not favor the Taliban, they

America Needs Sex Education in Schools Essay
Sex education is a major cause of arguments among parents and their school s board of directors.
Some parents argue that sex education should be taught at home or in their religious institution based
upon their values. Should the public education system teach sex education to students? There has not
been a solution that can be agreed upon unanimously. Sex education isn t yet a necessity in every
school but community support for it is slowly increasing. Sex education needs to be implemented in
schools throughout the nation for the protection of today s youth and further generations from the

Sex education classes, whether or not they clash with religious or parental teachings, teach a basic and
scientific background of sex, what bodily changes are, and how to protect oneself from the dangers of
sex. Statistics show that sex education can reverse current trends and prepare children from the
dangers of sex by educating them about STDs, pregnancy, and so on. The United States statistics on
teenagers and young adults are negatively alarming. Approximately 10% of all births in the U.S. occur
in teenagers and 9.5 million new cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are diagnosed in
teenagers and young adults each year (Kaneshiro B.). Unfortunately, there is a lack of courses aimed
at teaching America s youth about sex and the inherent dangers that they cannot foresee while there is
a surplus of television shows such as, Teen Moms, promoting sex and pregnancy.
Young people can be exposed to a wide range of attitudes and beliefs in relation to sex and sexuality.
These sometimes appear contradictory and confusing. For example, some health messages emphasis
the risks and dangers associated with sexual activity and some media coverage promote the idea that
being sexually active makes a person more attractive and mature ( Avert ). These television shows
may be the only source some children have teaching them about sex and that is not something any
parent or religion should be content with.
Religion is a particularly stubborn road block

Many smaller communities in the United States are already utilizing telemedicine to great advantage
(Burchill, 2010).Although telemedicine is a great way to deliver quality healthcare in a timely fashion,
there is also a downside to the procedure as well. Telemedicine will in some way hinder the face to
face communication between the doctor and patient that is vital in reducing errors. Most patients have
a better understanding of what is expected of them when it is communicated clearly and effectively by
their physician. Communication is the process of understanding and having meaning (Du Pre, 2005.)
and it is also the process of relaying information between people by the use of words, letters, symbols,
or body language (Sallee Forrest, 2005,). In my opinion I feel that telemedicine will decrease the
moral as far as the Dr. and Patients are concerned. Although telemedicine may decrease a portion of
the healthcare cost by less visits to the doctor, it will lose the value and importance of actually sitting
down and talking with your doctor and receiving that one on one face to face time. Most patients are
not even in tuned with technology and this can result in many errors and communication issues. What
role do you plan to have in the industry? I think once I have entered the healthcare industry I will play
a vital role in implementing fair but tough decision making when it comes to delivering efficient,
friendly, quality healthcare. I feel that I

Canadian Aviation History
Canada Takes Flight A balloon was the first means of manned flight in 1840 at Saint John, New
Brunswick. National and international politics, the national ambitions of Canada, technology, and
economics all played substantial factors in Canada s aviation industry from that time on. In 1909,
following the accomplishments of the Wright brothers, the test flights of Bell s Silver Dart put aviation
experiments in motion throughout Canada. The benefit of the use of military aircraft during war times
were a direct result of the development of Canada s experimental phase, and many Canadians were

Because of a lack of interest among Canadian politicians, there was not a substantial effort towards the

flew a single combat mission and their only aircraft had been abandoned after only a couple of
months. Development of Technology The increase of technological advancement due to the second
world war took the Canadian industry into the vanguard of manufacturing aircraft. The growth of
commercial aviation combined with Canadian facilities and airspace provided the training for over one

Irony In The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn
Success is to triumph on a task or purpose. On the other hand, being successful means to be
accompanied with resentment. The book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn provides the first hand

novel, the author uses irony through Pap s words to illustrate that people tend to dislike others who are
more successful. In the novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck s father, Pap, and his
presence provide the reader with a view on ironic enmity towards success. As Huck walks into his
room, he shuts the door and lights a candle. As he turns around, he sees his father, Pap, who had been

The Human Body is An Example of Amazing Efficiency Essay
The way our body works is an amazing thing. Millions of different actions come together so that our
bodies can function the way that they do. If you really think about it, it is amazing how we can survive
day to day. There are certain laws and forces that are the reason behind the human body can function
as efficiently as it does. Gas laws help us understand certain aspects of human anatomy such as
pressure. Laplace s Law is one gas law that helps explain distending pressures within the body. Terry
Jardins explained in his book, Cardiopulmonary Anatomy Physiology Essentials of respiratory care
that Laplace s law describes how the distending pressure of a liquid bubble is influenced by (1) the
surface tension of the bubble and (2) the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We can apply this to respiratory therapy because in cases of pulmonary edema, the greater the pressure
of the liquid the greater the force inside the alveoli will be. This could lead to collapse of the alveoli
(Gardenhire). As stated previously the human anatomy is an amazing and complex work of art.
Laplace s law helps us to understand just a small part of how the human body works. It is now
understood that Laplace s law can be applied to the lungs because the alveoli are in constant contact
causing them to have only one surface area. Also in the case of pulmonary edema, the pressure of the
liquid outside of the alveoli will cause greater pressure within the alveoli which can cause then to
collapse.
Summary
In our Anatomy textbook Laplace s law describes how the distending pressure of a liquid bubble is
influenced by (1) the surface tension of the bubble and (2) the size of the bubble itself. If the sphere
only has one liquid gas interface then the equation is written as P= 2ST/r .In this equation P represents
the pressure difference which will be measured in dynes/cm2. ST will be the variable for surface
tension and will also be measured in dynes/cm2. R equals the radius and will be measured in
centimeters. Our Pharmacology textbook describes it a little differently by saying that Laplace s law
the physical principle describing and quantifying the relationship between the internal pressure of

  • 2. Theu.s. Is A Unique And Special Country The fact that some Mexicans send money back to Mexico to their families causes Americans to speculate and, as a result, believe that they are too unattached to the pride that they should have while living in this country because of their close ties still with Mexico. In contrast to that, eighty percent said in the survey that, if they had to go through the process of immigration all over again, they would because the U.S. is a unique and special country (Farkas). Based on that high percentage alone, there can be no real debate on the intentions of Mexicans moving here other than those that are encouraging. Donald Trump, of course, attempted to challenge that statistic. During his campaign, he claimed, The worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican government... They re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems to us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists (Walker). It seems that Donald may have a slightly narrow view of the number of people who actually fit into these categories versus the total number of people attempting to enter the country. Based on previously stated evidence, their intentions for moving to the United States were to gain a higher quality of life by getting a job, not solely to sell drugs and act as rapists. Now that he has been elected as our president, many Mexicans are currently living in fear of what the next step in his plan of action is. They now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Struggle Of Survival By Sherman Alexie The Struggle of Survival Imagine growing up in a place where everyone is poor, there is only one road going through the town, one school, and one store. Now imagine having a tragic ancestral history of people who were taken advantage of, massacred, and forced into the slums of society. For the people who live in this place, this means there are little to no resources or opportunities to prosper and make a better life. Also everyone there is being dragged down by a history of abuse and these misfortunes are still affecting them in present day. The book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie follows a young Indian boy through his experiences on an Indian reservation. in the short stories Alexie demonstrates the good, the bad, and the ugly of what goes on native American reservations. There is a deep longing of men to be warriors, because they have a need to get ahead of their tragic history, and survive the harsh societies that try to keep them down, as second class citizens. Native Americans are constantly trying to escape their tragic history. The short story Every Little Hurricane observes a typical night for a young native American boy on an Indian reservation. he describes the adults surrounding him getting drunk and being reckless. towards the end of This night the boy describes a significant moment when his uncle and father have a drunken petty fight. the fight is described as, Witnesses. They were all witnesses and nothing more. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Child Discipline Forms of Discipline: What is best for the child? Children are like flowers, if well taken care of they will bloom. If ignored or tortured, they will wither and die. Child discipline is one of the most important elements of successful parenting. Today, many people have this notion that physical abuse is in no way a solution to helping children discern between right and wrong. Since generations children have been taught the art of discipline through physical punishment. Often this approach to disciplining has resulted in two outcomes, one is where the child becomes more tolerant and is willing to adhere to what he/she has been told, or the other which more often results in children developing a sense of anguish and desire to revolt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today, there is a common misconception that spanking is a form of child abuse. Some parents are actually afraid to discipline their own children using the same method used for their own upbringing. Who is correct in the notion of right and wrong discipline? Is there such a thing as a correct way to spank your child? In my opinion, there is. So, my objective is to show that there is a fine line between the two terms Spanking and Child abuse. A Cambridge Dictionary states that Child Abuse occurs when adults intentionally treat children in a cruel or violent way. On the other hand, Spanking in the same dictionary means to hit a child with the hand, usually several times on the bottom as a punishment. In this way, the line between the two can be drawn where too much spanking results in bruises and scars on the child. Therefore, parents should not spank their children when they are angry themselves as the spank would turn out to be an unintentional smack. When this occurs, parents tend to accidently take out their frustration on the child. Primarily, this is when Spanking, a form of discipline, starts drifting towards the entire concept of child abuse . However, this misconception has led to many unwanted situations where parents have been sent to jail by their own children. In a general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay on Arundhati Roy’s The God of Small Things Some believe that boundaries are made to be broken, that lines are meant to be crossed while others believe that we should not move an ancient boundary stone set up by [our] forefathers (Proverbs 22:28). Everywhere we look, we come across a moral boundary that we at least think we should not cross, but cross nonetheless. As ye sow, ye shall reap is a familiar proverb we have all heard at one point in our lives (Roy 31). But is it true? Do we really get what we deserve? And if so, who then decides what is right and wrong? Who draws the line? Who sets the boundary? In Arundhati Roy s The God of Small Things, most of the characters cross a moral boundary, we see boundaries that are accommodated, confronted and even shattered. ... Estha has many issues and emotions that he continually suppresses while Rahel is damaged mentally by her mothers crude, judgmental comments as well as neglect force her and Estha to rely merely on each other. These pent up emotions only become unbearable and in a desperate attempt to release their emotions and express their feelings the two share intercourse which seemed to be the only escape, Only that what they shared that night was not happiness, but hideous grief. Only that once again they broke the Love Laws. They lay down who should be loved (311). The ever so discrete language and brief description in this scene could easily be overlooked. It brings a tone that isn t in any way disturbing but necessary. It brings a sense of relief because the twins finally discover a way to truly become one in the most intimate way and share their pain with one another making the idea of incest almost obsolete the idea of the twins sharing something as powerful as intercourse becomes completely acceptable . • 7. Reform Movement During The Civil War The fastest growing country in the world, during the reform era from 1820 to 1860, was the United States. Technology and the innovations provided from it brought a dream of prosperity for all races and creeds. As the northern middle class grew, so did the reform movement. This growth in the middle class and growth of immigrants coming into America caused some individuals to change their outlook of schools, slavery, and women s rights. Though great strides were started in this time period, it was met with a lot of hostility and resentment. It was an uphill journey when it came to the institutional changes necessary to cause reform. In the period before the Civil War there were many significant reform movements in American history. During this time we see reformers dedicate to causes such as free public schools, legal and political rights for women, and ending slavery. In our textbook we see that industrial change led to a large migration of immigrants from Europe to move to America for a better life. The first large scale factories were erected in New England, and for the next thirty years, the United States had the most rapidly developing industrial economy in the world (Goldfield, Page 315). At this time the middle class grew as well. This group led to a large population of individuals who believed that social reform was necessary to provide a better future for their children. • 8. The Mythology Of The Scandinavian Culture Scandinavia myths, like many other cultures tend to focus on the male gods and less on the goddesses. Odinn and Odr are the two central gods that are most often focused on in the Scandinavian culture. Two female figures however, play a fairly prominent role Freyja and Frigg. The focus of my research is on Freya but the more information I uncovered the more I realized that with one along comes the other. Freya and Frigg depending on the mythology are the same person or are two individual goddesses who were close and complimented one another. From other religions we know that the same god or goddess could appear under different names, usually owning to the fact that he or she once had a by name, which related to a cult place or a specific function (Näsström 70). I decided to research Freya because of how closely linked she is to freedom, sexuality and the idea of magic. Growing up and hearing about Freya she was always talked about as a fairy or nymph, not as a goddess in the way that I would imagine Ishtar or the Virgin Mary. This is most likely due to the fact that she was described as a mischievous seducer. Frigg appears as Odinn s wife, she is the patroness of the home and a relative model of social virtue. Freyja, on the other hand is sexually very free and active. Many of her actives and practices are seen as magic, which placed her firmly outside of the sphere of normal society; she might be called the wild woman of Northern Myth. Both goddesses have similarities, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first, and most important key when understanding the path of enlightenment is that understanding Buddha s teachings known as the Four Noble Truths. The Buddhist religion focuses on the Four Noble Truths, which if followed guarantees the cure for human suffering. I personally think that the Four Noble Truths represent a good approach to life because human suffering comes from the choices we make in life and how we choose to live. The Four Noble Truths give a good guidance towards happiness by educating you with the right aspirations. In the West this is misunderstood because the meaning of self is not an essence or entity, is taken as self does not exist at all by people who have not imagined any to his/her scheme of existence than entities. Traditional Western concept of self believe that every person is entitled to one, and that it it s the self which acts or experiences. The notion of self contributes to the suffering of human beings in that human project reality onto an illusory Ego for the purpose of gratification. The misery of life is cause by self centeredness and the constant desire to satisfy one s own needs. With that being said ego desire is the very root of all evil, including greed, lust, hatred, lying, deceit, and crime. Eliminating the ego puts an end to unhappiness. Self concentration does not allow the pursuit of truth and righteousness. Also, one s addictions contributes to the suffering of humans in that it sets people for self destruction. • 10. Panda Persuasive Speech Have you ever heard of an Ailuropoda Melanoleuca? Most likely not, but I bet you have heard of a panda bear. Both are correct ways of recognizing the animal, one just sounds a little fancier. The panda bear has been around for approximately three million years and we are still learning new things about them all the time. Pandas may seem like very boring creatures because of their lack of activity during their lifetimes, but they are actually extremely fascinating and not to mention very adorable. We ve all had a time where we ve seen a cute, little, baby panda at the zoo and thought, I want one! . There are so many interesting facts about pandas that everyone should know. You will be learning about the background of pandas, why their population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The population of pandas has been decreasing rapidly since 1990. Habitat loss and poaching are the two major reasons for the pandas becoming on the brink of extinction. Humans have been destroying the forests in which pandas live for decades now, causing them to have to relocate to regions they were not familiar with. Losing their natural habitat meant that they also lost their main food source. Pandas would starve causing hundreds to die. The loss of their home also left them extremely vulnerable to predators in the new area. All of the little effects of pandas losing their habitat are what caused a major drop in their population. The second biggest reason for the decline in their population is poaching. Hunters and poachers target pandas mainly for their big fur coats. Poaching is illegal everywhere and is a big reason for population decrease for other animals as well. The third reason for the drop in pandas is their inability to reproduce quickly. The female pandas are only fertile once a year for a period of two or three days. They usually only have one pup and that pup stays with the mother for at least two years. After that, the panda is on its own. However, female pandas only need to be about 5 years old before they can start reproducing, but the catch is males have to be about 7 years old. The demand for baby pandas is extremely high so that the population to grow, but the time it takes to do so is hurting the population more. With all that said, the population of the panda bear is decreasing faster than it is increasing, which is a major problem that many organizations are working to figure out a ... • 12. Edward Taylor Accomplishments Edward Taylor, an American Puritan poet and minister, was one of the more significant poets of the 17th and 18th century. Not much is actually known about Edward Taylor s early life. The date and the exact place of his birth are not clear. Raised in Leicestershire, England, Taylor grew up in a Nonconformist home. In this paper, the basic concepts of URLs and internet Cookies are discussed with focus on its importance in Analytics point of view. URL URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator, and is used to specify addresses on the World Wide Web. In simple terms, an URL is the fundamental network identification for any resource connected to the web (e.g., hypertext pages, images, and sound files) (1). URLs have the following format: Protocol://hostname/other_information For example, the URL for Saint Joseph s University s home page is: https://www.sju.edu The protocol specifies how information from the link is transferred. The protocol used for web resources is Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP). Other protocols compatible with most web browsers include HTTPS, FTP, telnet, newsgroups, and Gopher. The protocol is followed by a colon, two slashes, and then the domain name. The domain name is the computer on which the resource is located. Links to particular files or subdirectories may be further specified after the domain name. Directory names are separated by single forward slashes. For example, in the following URL https://www.sju.edu/majors programs https, is the protocol; www.sju.edu, is the domain name and majors programs is the directory name. HISTORY T. Two times as long as any one of Mozart s or Hayden s symphonies, the third symphony challenged the idea of what a symphony is. The fourth Symphony was written in 1807. Throughout history we have had times of innovation and creation, we have tried to control nature and have succeeded in some aspects, however; humans are not truly sovereign over nature, and we have never achieved a perfect creation. In both Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, and The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G Wells, man s creation ends up destroying them which essentially symbolizes that man cannot truly act as a god because he will surely fail in a catastrophic manner, almost as if man is being punished for acting as a false god; it is also shown in both stories that the creations that man makes are attempts to manipulate and master nature, and we see that whenever man even slightly gives up his control it can lead to unforeseen, almost cataclysmic consequences. These ideas are most clearly displayed by H.G Wells in The Island of Dr.Moreau, because Moreau believes that he is above nature and can control the wild instincts of the beast men, and he also displays himself as a god to the beast men. In Frankenstein these ideas are more implicitly shown. H.G Wells does a better job overall of displaying these ideas In The Island Of Dr. Moreau as it is more explicit when showcasing these ideas. One of the main ideas that is common to both of the novels is that when man takes the role of a creator or deity upon himself that he fails catastrophically, almost as if man is punished for this. When Pap realizes that his son really can read and is now educated he becomes enraged. Pap wants Huck to quit school because he believes that it is not their family legacy. Pap does not want his ... • 33. Parasympathetic Stimulation The autonomic nervous system is an integrated controlling system that is responsible for regulating and maintaining homeostasis for the optimal function of all internal organs. Along with other major systems, the autonomic nervous system dictates the status of the internal environment of the body and will make adjustments through feedback loops based on internal and external changes detected. Understanding the significance of manual autonomic regulation in a controlled setting will lay the groundwork for future therapies in cardiovascular disease and many other diverse diseases. We specifically wanted to test if unconscious stimulation of the vagus nerve will be less inhibited than conscious stimulation and will parasympathetic stimulation then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strong vagal stimulation can decrease the strength of the heart muscle contraction by 20 to 30 percent (Hall, 2011 p.120). In a study done on canines under anesthesia, sympathetic stimulation was inhibited when concurrent vagal activity was present and cardiovascular effects seen included heart rate reduction by inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system and by direct hyperpolarization of sinus nodal cells. Vagal parasympathetic activation was shown to predominate over sympathetic activation (Levy Zieske, 1969). This response is known as accentuated antagonism (Olshansky et al. 2008). In the Contemporary Review of Cardiovascular Medicine and Parasympathetic Nervous System and Heart Failure published by Dr. Brian Olshansky and his colleagues at the University of Iowa, epidemiological data is examined that indicates that the resting heart rate, a measure of vagus nerve function, predicts mortality (Olshansky et ... • 34. Jonas Salk The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more (Biography 1). Jonas Edward Salk was a medical doctor and epidemiologist, who aided in the manufacturing of the first vaccine to counteract poliomyelitis (polio). Jonas Salk, the pioneer for the first polio vaccine, was a humanitarian who worked to help others, which reflected his Jewish background. Most notably, Jonas Edward Salk was known for his work in the field of medicine, specifically the polio vaccine, his medical research institution, and the institution s fight against AIDS. Salk was working with Thomas Francis Jr. at New York University College of Medicine, where they were developing a killed virus vaccine (Britannica 1). A killed virus or inactivated vaccine is an ... When Jonas Salk was asked by Herb Meyer, a friend of Salk, what he thought of Intelligent Design vs. evolution, Salk responded by saying, Why do I have to choose? Why must it be one or the other? Of course evolution is real. DNA mutates and that makes evolution one of the most powerful forces in nature. But who set evolution into motion? Can t God have done that? (Aussiegirl 1) Based on this quote, Salk reveals his thoughts about God and accredits the creation of evolution, small mutations and not common ancestry, to God. Moreover, when the poliomyelitis vaccine was released in 1955, Jonas Salk was asked by Edward R. Murrow in an interview about who owned the patent for vaccine. Well, the people, I would say, Salk responded. There is no patent. Could you patent the sun? (Palmer 1) By saying this, Jonas Salk insinuated that a substance so helpful, is best kept without the defilement of economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Human Body is An Example of Amazing Efficiency Essay The way our body works is an amazing thing. Millions of different actions come together so that our bodies can function the way that they do. If you really think about it, it is amazing how we can survive day to day. There are certain laws and forces that are the reason behind the human body can function as efficiently as it does. Gas laws help us understand certain aspects of human anatomy such as pressure. Laplace s Law is one gas law that helps explain distending pressures within the body. Terry Jardins explained in his book, Cardiopulmonary Anatomy Physiology Essentials of respiratory care that Laplace s law describes how the distending pressure of a liquid bubble is influenced by (1) the surface tension of the bubble and (2) the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can apply this to respiratory therapy because in cases of pulmonary edema, the greater the pressure of the liquid the greater the force inside the alveoli will be. This could lead to collapse of the alveoli (Gardenhire). As stated previously the human anatomy is an amazing and complex work of art. Laplace s law helps us to understand just a small part of how the human body works. It is now understood that Laplace s law can be applied to the lungs because the alveoli are in constant contact causing them to have only one surface area. Also in the case of pulmonary edema, the pressure of the liquid outside of the alveoli will cause greater pressure within the alveoli which can cause then to collapse. Summary In our Anatomy textbook Laplace s law describes how the distending pressure of a liquid bubble is influenced by (1) the surface tension of the bubble and (2) the size of the bubble itself. If the sphere only has one liquid gas interface then the equation is written as P= 2ST/r .In this equation P represents the pressure difference which will be measured in dynes/cm2. ST will be the variable for surface tension and will also be measured in dynes/cm2. R equals the radius and will be measured in centimeters. Our Pharmacology textbook describes it a little differently by saying that Laplace s law the physical principle describing and quantifying the relationship between the internal pressure of ...
