The Current Makeup Of The Texas Dream Act
The first policy alternative, the status quo, is to not repeal or change the current makeup of the Texas Dream
Act. Texas awards around $9 million in grants and scholarships, which are paid from the appropriations made
by the legislature every two years. This might seem like a large amount but that cost is merely a fraction of the
net profit the states makes off of undocumented students paying tuition at universities across the state. By not
changing the policy Texas would expect to attain $56.1 million in tuition revenue from the undocumented
students attending universities in Texas. Besides the tuition revenue, Texas would expect to see another $65
billion from wages, salaries and business earning by undocumented immigrants. The extra ... Show more

On the other hand, US citizens from other states cannot pay in state tuition rates, so that is unfair to them. A
way to solve this issue perhaps would be to create a public policy to allow US students to pay the same tuition
rate across the US. In total, alternative 1 scores 2.05 out of 3.0. The policy is of low cost to the state, brings in a
large amount of revenue, and is relatively fair to the parties involved and affected.
The second policy alternative received the lowest overall score for many reasons. Its efficiency score is 0.5
although it does save the state $9 million every two years, but it cost the states more maintain this population
because without college education a large portion of the students will find themselves incarcerated, with more
health problems, and having more children earlier in their lives. This policy is a means to an end, however the
end result puts the state in a worse situation than it currently is in. The cost benefit score is 0.35 because
without the education the students are not able to acquire the necessary skills to attract big name employers
such as Google, Accenture, and even Toyota who are presently looking for top talent. Also, the state would lose
an estimated $56.1 Billion from the immigrant students and their parents, however that s not the only thing on
the line. Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich argues that immigrants are part of the solution to

The Influence Of Cheetos In Popular Culture
Popular culture is what combines ideas and objects generated by a society, including commercial, political,
media, and other systems, as well as the impact of these ideas and objects on society. And food tends to be a
part of it, since culture does indeed affect our eating practice. One particular food that was introduced during
the 1940s and is still going strong is Cheetos. And here we are going to focus on how Cheetos came to be and
the reasons why it was introduced and its effect on our eating habits and diets.
Cheetos is a brand of cheese flavored, cornmeal snacks made by Frito Lay. Fritos creator Charles Elmer Doolin
invented Cheetos in 1948, and began national distribution in the U.S. In 2010, Cheetos was ranked as the top
selling brand of cheese puffs in the primary market of the United States and its worldwide ... Show more

The coating of cheese, salt tends to send our bain pleasure feelings, leading us to eat more and more. Thus it
becomes very addictive.
In conclusion, Cheetos has and still is playing a big role in media attention, as the use of convenience foods is
increasing. What we eat is somehow determined by the interaction between economic, technological, social
values, in other words by pop culture.

The Principals Of Operant Conditioning
The principals of operant conditioning, teaches how having certain coping techniques can reward certain
undesirable behaviors. Conditioning human behavior has been studied for many years, Psychologists Edward
Thorndike and B.F. Skinner, have dedicated the majority of their lives to the study. Thorndike s theory Law of
effect. Thorndike suggests that certain stimuli and response become connected or dissociated from each other.
His experiment worked by placing a cat in a box, then observing its behavior as it tried to escape and obtain the
food on the other side. He studied several cats and plotted the time it took for them to escape from the puzzle
box. The challenge to get out of the box remained the same, but the amount of time to get out of the box
decreased, and while the animal may have not realized what it was doing, but knew what he had to do to receive
the food. He concluded that animals learn from reward and punishment or trial and error. The theory of B.F.
Skinner is based upon the idea that learning is about change in behavior. Operant conditioning is learning by
consequence. To put it simply, an action which he rewarded is likely to be repeated along with an action that is
punished is less likely to be repeated. B.F. Skinner introduced a new term into the law of effect known as
reinforcement. Behavior that is reinforced tends to be repeated while behavior which is no reinforced tends to
disappear. conducted an experiment where he placed a rat inside a special

Comparison Of Les Miserables And The Kite Runner
Throughout history, people have held people to standards and judged people. In Les Miserables and the Kite
Runner both societies had ideas on what was civilized and what was barbaric. This can be seen when characters
had to change who they were in order to fit into what was civilized and not be different. In Les Miserables a
demonstration of this is shown when Jean Valjean had to pretend to be something he s not in order to fit in with
the society. Jean Valjean was labeled as a convict just because he stole some bread to help save his family from
starvation. He then had to change his name and become a whole new person just because society viewed him as
a bad person because he is a convict. What had been the life of this soul . Looking back on his life he wonders
what had become of it and why society felt that he is barbaric. Even though he was a good person society
treated him like he was an awful person just because he had been a convict. They did not know the full story of
how he was trying to save his family, they just automatically judged him.
Fortunately, in the end Jean Valjean turned his life around and became a better person. The Bishop helped him
turn his life around by giving him a chance to be a better person. Jean Valjean my brother you no longer belong
to evil. With this silver, I have bought your soul. I have ransomed you from fear and hatred, and now I give you
back to God . The Bishop knew that Jean Valjean wasn t evil and deserved a chance to

The commander is viewed to be sympathetic due to the gifts and presents he
brings to the handmaid, Offred. He sneaks her out to a private club, and he feels
forsaken along with wanting a more intimate relationship with the narrator.
Following the copulation between Offred and the Commander, the man of the
house stealthily sneaks a private meeting with the Handmaid. During this time, the
house holder presents to her magazines as a gift, as a sign of compassion.
Knowing that magazines are illegal, it shows his friendliness towards Offred, as
she states ...Mademoiselle magazine... Old Esquire... A Ms... And a Readers

The self serving male shows attributes of a monster by him imperilling the lives
of others for his own merriment. At the time when the Commander sneaks her out
to the forbidden club named Jezebel s, he knows it is illegal and forbidden but he
takes her anyways, knowing if they get caught they will be tortured and potentially
murdered. When the Handmaid asks I thought this sort of thing was strictly
forbidden. (), he responds Well, officially (), meaning that the owner of the
female does not seen the rules apply to him as well, and decides to take her
anyways because of his self enjoyment. Before taking the insightful Offred to the
club, he uses their Guardian, Nick, as a signal to inform the female, when to meet
him at night. This is proven when Offred states to Ofglen, The signal is Nick. If
he s polishing the car when I set out for shopping... Hat is an askew or not on at
all, then I go... (154). As he uses Nick for his own purpose, he places his life in
danger as well, just to get a message to the Handmaid. When Offred is watching

Does freezing popcorn yield more popcorn?
Project Design Plan.
This scientific experiment is to gauge the amount of kernels popped when the storage temperatures of the
kernels are changed. Does freezing popcorn kernels for 24 hours yield more or less popped kernels than
popcorn kernels stored at room temperature? By performing this experiment we can decide how to maximize
our food potential. We will purchase six identical brands of popcorn from the local food store that have the
same ingredients, weight and brand name. We will take three of the bags of popcorn kernels and store it in a
standard household freezer for twenty four hours. The temperature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keep in mind that you must enter the amount of time on your microwave that you chose from your time testing
trial. Do not use the popcorn button that is standard on most microwaves. It is important to test the time with
one frozen and one shelf stored popcorn package. This will allow us to record the exact time needed to perform
our test on the remaining bags of popcorn.
7. Now perform two trials of test with one bag of frozen popcorn kernels and one bag of room temperature
popcorn. It is important to record the data off of each trial separately.
8. When finished recording your numbers from the two trail experiments take the average of each trial and
compare the final results.
Reasoning of this design.
The brand of popcorn testing has proven to be inconsistent. Each major brand of popcorn claims to have the
highest amount of popped kernels. We chose this method of experiment because we can control the variables of
the experiment. By controlling the temperature we can determine which method will yield the most amount of
popcorn instead of relying on which brand claims to have the most yield of popcorn or studies on brands. This
experiment can be used on all brands as long as the brand name stays the same.
Sequence of Events.
Take each bag of popped popcorn and count the individual kernels that did not pop and record the data on the
chart. Perform this for each

Examples Of The First Circle Of Hell In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s Inferno, Dante proposes an intriguing order for his nine circles of hell. Ignoring Limbo, Dante,
intending to list the circles from the least grievous sin to the most grievous sin, orders the circles starting from
lust, going to gluttony, greed, then wrath. Dante provides a thought provoking experience for the reader causing
one to redefine his understanding of sin and God s judgement.
After limbo, Dante presents the first circle of hell as the punishment for the lustful. While many, if given the
choice, would not place lust as the least of all the sins, Dante does for good reason. In Appendix C, Aquinas
expounds on Dante s argument that sins committed in passion are not as grave as premeditated sin. First, as sin
consists chiefly in an act of the will, it follows that, other things being equal, a sin is all the more ... Show more

While this punishment does not seem as severe as the other circles, it is symbolic of the greedy s fruitless
pursuit of earthly riches. Dante places this in an even lower circle of hell because in regards to the sin of
miserliness or squandering money, the abusers are even more aware of their sin. Furthermore, sin s underlying
principle is even more visible here. According to Aquinas reasoning of sin in Dante s Inferno, pride is at the
root of all sin. Whereas pride regards sin as turning away from God, to Whose commandment man refuses to be
subject, for which reason it is called the beginning, because the beginning of evil consists in turning away from
God (Aquinas, 385). Aquinas articulates that pride is the basis for all sin, because pride takes place when we
refuse to be subject to the will of God, and the beginning of all sin is when we first turn away from God. Those
who are greedy and miserly refuse to obey God s command of taking care of the poor and rather horde as much
money as they can to no

Religion and Politics in the Modern Period
What is distinctive about the relationship between religion and politics in the modern period?
I esteem it above all things necessary to distinguish exactly the Business of Civil government from that of
religion. As John Locke makes evident in his Letter Concerning Toleration, it is most important and
fundamentally essential to define the limits of both religion and politics their proper places in civil society. Only
with government sponsored toleration is religion allowed to prosper in the modern period; it fits neatly within
the mechanisms of modern politics. As human beings, we are inclined to be in a constant state of competition
and conflict. Equality and a limited supply of goods make this conflict inevitable, and it is ... Show more

Both situations are dangerous for an unstable sovereign. In modern society, our lack of toleration is not rooted
in religion. For us, toleration becomes questionable when such practices as marriage, pornography, animal
sacrifice and bigotry are called into question. At what point does a government need to intervene? Should the
government not protect all of these under its mission of liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? These questions
cannot be answered. I believe that a government will not intervene until its own foundations become threatened.
When it does feel threatened, as Hobbes will suggest, it might embrace such an element. Religion, once a
significant part of society, played a large role in government. Rulers who feared the power of religion
frequently embraced it, gaining much support and littler resentment: These [religious institutions] have
developed to such a pitch of strength they can support their rulers in power no matter how they live and behave.
Only ecclesiastical rulers have states, but no need to defend them; subjects, but no need to govern them; their
subjects, though they do no govern them, do not resent them, and they neither think of replacing their rulers nor
are they in a position to do so.

Violence in the Arts – Plato vs. Aristotle Essay
Violence in The Arts – Plato vs. Aristotle
Nowadays, it is hard to turn on a television program, catch a movie or buy your younger sibling a video game
without encountering a warning for extreme violence. Everyday, our lives are exposed to violence on the
screen, whether it is in the latest Sopranos episode or even watching the six o clock news. For quite a while
now, people have been demanding that stricter censorship be placed on the media, especially those programs
and video games that can easily be obtained by the youth, due to their feelings that this violence can influence
people to act out . However, this is not a new idea. Back in ancient Greece, the philosopher Plato believed that
exposure to the emotions of the arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato perceived the dramas as dangerous, because he felt that they created confusion, miscommunication and
ignorance. He also felt that the entire world s evils came from a defective sense of reality and that these dramas
promoted that. For example, take a young child who grew up somewhat isolated from the outside world and
whose only outlet to our society is through the media. His steady contact with violent programs (which in the
end, show a happy conclusion no matter what happens throughout) may convince him that this type of behavior
is normal and accepted. Plato was concerned especially about the influence that drama and even pornography
would have on children, because he felt that their minds were not developed to the full extent in order to
differentiate between the right and wrong that they see in the dramas. Many people will be quick to agree that a
child should not watch a rated R action movie, yet they still allow them to view a Saturday morning cartoon in
which the main character gets run over every episode and still comes back the next week. This can create a
faulty understanding of reality to a child, as well as an unsuspecting adult, because it does not clarify that death
is final.
What about the movies that emulate and perhaps glorify the lives of drug dealers and gangs? Are they
encouraging one to participate in

The Cask Of The Amontillado
Excessive Pride God makes some men poets. Some he makes Kings, some he makers beggars. Richard Connell
makes a clear point that not all people are the same. Some people think they re better than others. This is often
seen in literature. There are several short stories that discuss the topic of excessive pride. Many authors have
conveyed the themes that excessive pride is self destructive, can change your life, and will come back to haunt
you. In the short story, The Cask of the Amontillado, Edgar Allan Poe conveys how excessive pride is self
destroying. He shows how being too proud in something can make you lose your sanity. In the story, Montresor
is planning to kill Fortunato because of how he insulted him. The author states, And the ... Show more content

Connell makes it to where the excessively proud individual gets haunted by his own choices. In the story,
General Zaroff brags about his hunts and how easy it is for him. The author conveys Simply this: hunting had
ceased to be what you call a sporting proposition . It had become too easy. I always got my quarry. Always.
There is no greater bore than perfection(Connell 25). Zaroff states that hunting has become too easy because he
is so perfect at it. He brags about how great of a hunter he is and that the quarry stands no chance against him.
Furthermore, the author shows how sickeningly proud Zaroff really is. The author illustrates, The weak of the
world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. I hunt the scum of the Earth sailors from tramp
ships lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, Mongols a thoroughbred horse or hound is worth more than a score of
them ( Connell 27). Zaroff is so excessively proud in his hunting and who he is that he thinks he s doing the
world a favor by taking out other people. He kills the scum of the Earth because they are weak and he is strong .
He is proud in the fact that he can kill these people. There was many different ways that Connell showed
excessive pride throughout the story but Zaroff showed most and later died because of

Erin Andrews Reebok
According to MarketWatch.com (2011), ...studies show that people are more likely to purchase an item if it has
come into contact with an attractive person. This finding coupled with the already controversial topic of
whether a journalist should endorse a commercial product for a stipend, raises some interesting concerns.
Furthermore, does accepting these endorsements pose a threat to journalism and its ethics and constitute a
conflict of interest [as to whether any journalist should endorse a commercial product]? Case in point, Reebok s
hiring of Erin Andrews, ESPN reporter and voted Playboy magazine s sexiest reporter, to endorse a new line of
shoes Zoom Alpha Talon Cleat has done just that. Those on the sidelines as well as those who rival the endorsed
product can attest to this struggle. Is it acceptable for sports reporters, like Erin Andrews, to accept endorsement

According to the Society of Professional Journalists Ethics Code (2016), Andrews has the duty to report
independently to distinguish news from advertising and shun hybrids that blur the lines between the two; she
also is obliged to seek truth and report it to identify sources clearly. (p.94) Consequently, the public is entitled
to as much information as possible to judge the reliability and motivations of sources. However, it wasn t until
two weeks after making the comments about Nike shoes that the Oregonian published an article stating
Andrews was serving as a spokeswoman for Reebok s new line ZigTech. Likewise, Poynter Institute (2016)
states, Journalists can review products. But they can t take money from a company to endorse them. That totally
ruins their credibility. ( Entertaining Endorsements in Sports Journalism, 2016) Based on this standard of ethics,
it is wrong for Andrews to blend news with advertising without disclosing this information to her viewers a

Frank Norris Research Paper
Frank Norris Late 19th Century Novelist and Writer in the Progressive Era After reading the works of Frank
Norris, one might wonder what drove him to become a writer. It could have been simply that as a child he often

Bhagavad Gita The Holy Book Of Hindus
Bhagavad gita the holy book of hindus, is one of the major literature work from India to the entire mankind.
Gita can be read by the people of all religions. It was narrated by Lord Krishna to prince Arjuna in
Mahabharatha. The narration happens in the battlefield of kurukshethra. Arjuna was to fight against his cousins
kauravas in the war, which he was not able to do because of family bonding, this is when Krishna explains him
the purpose of life and the way to attain eternity. In bhagavad gita Krishna explains how the entire cycle of life
works and what a person should do to attain eternity. Though the gita was narrated 5000 years ago, it is still
relevant to the modern age life of mankind and guides us to eternity, this is explained in this thesis statement.
Gita on Family bonding:
In the first chapter of gita when Arjuna hesitates to fight against his cousins, Krishna explains him about the
family bonding. He says that only when a person comes out of the family bonding and does his duty properly he
will be able to attain eternity. He explains the aim of Arjuna s birth. Arjuna was born to fight this battle and
destroy the evil. He has to see the evil in the kauravas, instead of seeing them as his cousin brothers. Only then
he can fight the evil and destroy it. Krishna clearly explains why family bonding should not be a hurdle in doing
ones duties. This is true in this current age of mankind also. Though we don t have situations to fight war
against our family members,

De-Extinction Essay
Did you know that scientists are trying to bring extinct animals like the Woolly Mammoth back to life? That
would be cool to see, but is it worth it? Scientists should not bring Woolly Mammoths back to life. It would be a
waste of money, it brings less attention to animals about to go extinct, and it could hurt the ecosystem.
First, bringing back extinct animals would be a waste of money. In the passage De Extinction Probably Isn t
Worth it it says, Five recently extinct species would come at the cost of conversation efforts for keeping forty
two animals (Zielisk, S., 2017). This supports my opinion because keeping forty two animals alive is a lot of
money. Wasting that on only five extinct animals is insane for me. Also, on Back From the Dead it says, But the
clone, born with lung defects, only lasted seven minutes (n.a., n.d.). This explains my reason because you could
be keeping forty two animals alive, but instead you brought an animal back to life, only to live seven minutes.

On the passage De Extinction Probably Isn t Worth it it says, Even if they re successful, it is probably a bad idea
because it would divert conversation money from still living animals (Zielisk, S., 2017). This shows my opinion
because they spent so much money on trying to de extinct animals, there would be no more money to take care
of all of the still living animals about to go extinct. According to the passage Back From the Dead it says,
Scientists also worry that if scientists can bring extinct animals back, no one will care about keeping
endangered species from becoming extinct (n.a., n.d.). This supports my opinion because even if they did pull
of to have enough money, no one would care about the endangered species and they would eventually die off.
To me, that is not a good thing. These animals hurting the ecosystem does not sound like a good thing

The Use of Narratives to Express the Religious Beliefs of People in Western Religions
For the layman, familiarity with the major religions stems from the stories that are associated with them. Using
the narratives that are derived from the sacred texts is the most prominent way in which our society identifies
the Western religions. The Jewish tradition is best correlated to stories like the Exodus and the parting of the
Red Seas, for example, as are the many tales of the miracles of Jesus connected to Christianity. This essay will
present narratives as an easy method of providing the basic groundwork for the Western religious traditions of
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam because of their simplicity and easily transmittable nature. ... Show more

Therefore, the holy day of Sabbath is it is known for Jews and Christians, is absent in Islam. God was not weary
from the act of creation, and oversaw all that he had created, rather. This could be seen as part of the belief in
Islam that the Koran is a correction to the previous religions of Judaism and Christianity, and that the holy
scriptures were somehow corrupted in their present form.
In the Western tradition, primarily in the United States where Christianity prevails, the story of creation from
Genesis is held in high regard, and controversies have erupted disputing whether or not its fundamentals should
be taught in school. The founding of this nation through the Constitution was erected with the belief of
separation of church and state. In the conservative 1920s, a huge court case erupted from the dispute between
the Christian creationism and the scientific founding of Charles Darwin s evolution. The Scopes Monkey trial
of 1925 saw a schoolteacher found guilty of teaching evolution in the classroom, a theory that flabbergasted
fundamentalist Christians who perceived it ludicrous that humans could have descended from monkeys. The
narrative tradition of the Genesis creation was evidently a central issue for Americans and typified the Christian
identity in the U.S. at a time when modernism was emerging, as the fourteen states had anti Evolution statutes.
According to the first account of creation in Genesis, God made man on the sixth

Crocs Research Paper
Crocs footwear Crocs, Inc., is indeed a Colorado creator of unique clogs that became popular for the outdoor
person in the late 1990s with both men, women, and children. These inexpensive shoes rely on a proprietary
resin material called Croslite. This helps produce a slip resistant and non marking sole. The material also
softens with body heat activation. This helps for molding the shoe to the foot and providing a conforming fit.
Crocs was meant for guys on boats and in other outdoor activities like fishing and gardening, because the
material of the shoe allows the foot to breathe. Crocs are also used by working men and women who spend
much time on their feet. For example, health care and restaurant workers. Also, Crocs are widely considered

In an article The Fortune 100 and their Fitness and Wellness Programs, we can find the examples of such

security is a complete myth, as is long term employment. Companies lay off employees in droves...by the

job satisfaction. Some studies suggest that living with job insecurity the fear of losing your job can be more
harmful to your health than actually losing it (n.d.) Therefore, employment

Topic The topic that I have chosen for my research paper is deviance. More specifically the deviant label that is
put upon female athletes. Given that they are scrutinized for becoming their own people and dismissing the
traditional ways a female should behave, I would like to look at not only how these athletes are treated, but how
they respond to it. Also focusing on if this process has changed over time.
Thesis Throughout the course of history, the consensus regarding traditional gender norms has changed
immensely. Just the thought of going against these morals was unthinkable and shamed. However, as times have
come to change, the challenging of these norms has become more accepted along with the notion that there are

Q2. If so, will these previously thought of deviant behaviors always have that label, even if it is more accepted
in today s society? Will they forever be known as deviant?
A2. No, that s not always the case. Certain labels can change. Even so far we ve seen cases where one was
deviant and we see radical change over time, there is nothing in a way that keeps it deviant. However some
things are harder to change over time.
Q3. Why, in today s age does more media coverage play a role? (it being easier to access, faster to publish

A3. Cleary media plays some role and accessing information plays a role. Social reactions always plays a role,
historically information would get passed and people would get stigmatized and labeled, now there is so much
information that some can be cancelled out. For instance, how we hear about all of this crazy stuff on how
Russia closed fake information supporting Trump. They would tweet and it would become fake news. People
would then retweet what was said and it would be retweeted a million times to the point where it was all out for

Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction
According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous
conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) . When
applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as well as
reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. These improvements are derived from
the elimination, and consolidation, of redundant activities and tasks between the operations of disparate
business units. In the following paragraphs, I will describe how and when synergies are used to initiate certain

Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have become
focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as operating synergies.
Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to increase cash flow or reduce the
firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies provide the justification to enact the
reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite the importance of operating synergies to the
organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of
such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following
rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual
components is the driving assumption behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s
corporate climate, synergies are at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement
internally generated (organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business
combinations. The goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns
generated by each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased
revenues, and in some instances a

Kinesiology And Athletic Performance Analysis
In American culture being an athlete or a coach is a major aspect of many lives. What is even more important
than being an athlete or a coach is having a winning record. To achieve those winning records, coaches tend to
focus on the athletic performance aspect of kinesiology and not realize the athlete is not the only factor when it
comes to their athletic performance. Some of these factors include coaching which can break down into the
task/ mastery environment which are good for athletes and ego environments which is typically more hostile,
motivation which can either be intrinsic or extrinsic, and anxiety which often comes with coping techniques. If

State anxiety occurs during competition and decreases performances but interventions can decrease cognitive
and somatic anxiety (Prapavessis, Grove, McNair, Cable). Athletes can also attain anxiety when they do not see
their coaches as competent. For example, if a coach were to tell a soccer athlete to do this and then they get hurt
they would not trust them and be anxious doing any other directions (Myers, Beauchamp, Chase, 2011). Since
coaches are able to reduce an athlete s anxiety then, coaches have the ability to create a positive atmosphere and
in this study student athletes had an overall positive view of their coaches ability to develop autonomy
supportive team climates (Noble Forester, 2016). According to researcher s anxiety may be a predisposition but
state anxiety is heavily influenced by the motivational climate, more specifically ego environments athletes
reported increases in anxiety over the season (Smith, Smoll, Cumming, 2007). When athletes enter state anxiety
many have coping methods, and PPR may influence performance through lowering the athlete s anxiety
(Hazell, Cotterill, Hill, 2014) or even self talk (Miles Neil, 2013), but the success of using these techniques
would depend on the situation. However, some research suggests that regardless of competition (good or bad)
and sport (long duration/short duration) athletes reported an equal number of experiences and implemented
coping strategies (Nieuwenhuys, Vos, Pijpstra, Bakker, 2011). With this conflicting research on how it effects
athletes, there is research that states giving athletes CSAI 2 or sports oriented questionnaires can help both
parties understand each other (Hall Kerr,

The Movie Picture Association of America controls four different categories: music, movies, television shows

Gender Stereotypes And The Socialization Process
Gender Stereotypes and the Socialization Process
The pursuit of gender equality is a central element of a vision of sustainability in which every Member of
Society respects others and plays a role that allows you to take advantage of their potential to the fullest. The
broad goal of gender equality is a social goal that education and other social institutions should contribute.
Gender discrimination is embed in the fabric of societies. In many societies, women bear the main burden of
food production and child rearing. Also, women are often excluded from the family or Community decisions
that affect their lives and well being.
The Parents stereotyped by the gender Classified by gender expectations can occur regarding personality traits
(for example, children are aggressive), skills (for example, girls are good for reading), activities, and roles (for
example, men are scientists). While gender equality has increased in many cultures over the past decades, there
has been a parallel growth in adults regarding the adoption of attitudes that reflect gender equality. Now there is
more variation among parents; some have traditional expectations and others expressing expectations equal to
their daughters and sons. Similarly, some parents can support egalitarian views on certain fields (e.g.
occupations) but are still more traditional concerning other areas (for example, family roles). Finally, parents

The Biological View on Gender
Dr. Strode English 101:KK 17 September 2010 The Biological and Cultural View on Gender Society has drilled
an image into our minds as people of how the role of each gender should be played out. There are two
recognized types of genders, a male and a female. Most people come to think that gender is just male or female.
Yet it has become more complex then that. Today it is not just that if you have male parts, you are a man, the
opposite goes for women. According to the authors Aaron Devor and Deborah Blum. Gender is much more
complex then just male and female, it is more socially composed. We are taught to be male and female trough
things like media, our parents, and role model figures. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By Blum using words like congenital adrenal hyperplasia and testosterone , Blum means that it is our chemical
build up that determine our gender roles. Testosterone is what makes a man manly, so any male lacking
testosterone will look and act more feminine. The opposite goes for women who have to much testosterone.
Another example to support Blum s biological side for gender is that testosterone is the leading cause of why
men act the way they do. Men most often have more testosterone then women. To further this idea Blum says, it
not only has some body building functions, it influences some behaviors as well. These behaviors include
rowdy play, sex drive, competitiveness, and in your face attitude (578). Words like rowdy play ,
competitiveness and sex drive are masculine characteristics that is why women with more testosterone may
choose the toy truck or weapon to play with. Higher levels of testosterone could be what make some women
appear masculine and some men appear feminine. My side of the gender topic would be that gender is cultural.
Yes some things are biological like we get our eye color and our skin color from genetics. But the way we act is
far more cultural, we learn to act male or female from society. Our parents and television show us
demonstrations of these characteristics. I agree with Devor s beliefs on gender on how society builds these strict

His main moment of putting his trust in God was when he accepted his daughter s death and trusted that God

good leader and a good man, and that was integrity. His integrity was the characteristic that allowed other men
to follow him with a clean heart. His refusal to do what he knew to be wrong strengthened his role as a leader
every time he exercised it. The integrity needed to turn in your best friend for dealing drugs is astounding. Even
though his wife and his commanding officer were questioning whether he should listen to his conscience, he did
so any way. His integrity also shone when he signed his resolution. The idea that he wanted to state publicly in

astounding. This showed that he is a man who is worth following. This integrity is what makes him a man
worth following. Without it, he would be a leader with nowhere to lead. What is interesting in this movie is the
idea that Courageous emphasizes the fact that you cannot have just courage, just trust, or just integrity in order
to be a leader and a Godly man. If you only have courage, you will not know what to stand for. If you only have

is also due in part to the European market which has the highest demand for the bikes. Internationally, the
heavyweight market has grown larger than that in the United States and has had an increasing market share in
Asia as well for the past few years. Another opportunity for

My Tribe Beliefs
My Tribe and Their Beliefs and Their Consents
It would be devastating if my tribe was to find out years later that they were involved in a scientific study that
they knew nothing about. For most tribal communities, it is important to respect their culture and their beliefs.
Scientists do not have the right to offend a tribal community, even if it was unintentional and due to ignorance
regarding the taboo topics within the tribe from the researchers. For many reasons, it is important to inform the
tribe and the individuals who donate their DNA samples exactly what their samples will be used for. Tribal
communities are unlike many modern communities. Tribal communities carry much pride in their history, their
culture, and their beliefs. Offending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What their samples were actually used for, well that was completely different. Without their permission, the
DNA samples were used to study topics that are considered taboo within the Havasupai tribe such as mental
illness, migration, and inbreeding. There were many issues raised in the Havasupai case. To begin with,
informed consent is an issue because samples were used without complete consent. Researchers only received
consent for using the samples to study diabetes, or that is what the tribe members were told. Another issue
raised in this case was migration studies, which is a topic that concerns may tribes because the scientific
evidence based on their genetic research may go against certain tribal beliefs. Each tribe has their own beliefs
based on their origin and migration studies may cause these tribes trouble. Scientists may be messing around
with tribal history in the name of science. This would, without a doubt, raise ethical concerns. Stigmatism of the
tribe was another issue raised in this case. Measuring the interbreeding coefficient causes harm and distress to
the tribal community. During this study, researchers gained illegal access to medical records. Researchers did
not have permission to access the medical records from the tribal officials or the clinical administrators. This is
an invasion of privacy. It is also important to note that even though individuals within the study were not
named, naming the tribe risked the identification of these individuals. In a small community, it is not hard to
figure out who someone is based on genetic information that was released. The final issue that was raised in the
Havasupai case was how to control their samples. When a tribe decides to enter a study, they must first decide if
they ate going to enforce their control over the samples and how they are used. If they decide to

If your home network needs an upgrade, then the Asus RT N66U wireless N900 router could be what you re
looking for. Deservedly nicknamed the Dark Knight , this sharp black router does much more than just look
good. Asus packed this router with a feature set that makes other routers in it s price range pale in comparison.
A combination of superior hardware and feature packed yet easily setup software puts tons of networking power
at your fingertips.
The N900 in Wireless N900 means that the RT N66U can reach up to 900 Mbps using the Wireless N wireless

5GHz bands. Fortunately, the Asus RT N66U is a dual band router, meaning it can work ... Show more content

This allows you to share centrally stored files to all of your connected computers easily. It also makes sharing a
printer much easier than transfering everything to one computer as a gateway.
Asus included impressive management software that allows you to fine tune and optimize your connection
settings right in your browser. Quality Of Service (QoS) is a form of traffic shaping that allocates amounts of
bandwidth for different purposes. What this means is the movie streaming on one computer won t start
buffering because someone started downloading a large file. The different types of traffic can only use the
amount of bandwidth you specify.
The Asus designed administration dashboard also allows the RT N66U to be configured with a VPN for added
security and privacy. There are several tools for diagnostics and monitoring as well for both optimization and
security testing. Easy to read graphs and logs make tweaking and optimizing very intuitive. Any adjustment that
affects the connection will clearly be displayed in real time. Traffic monitoring tools offer multiple views into

  • 2. The Current Makeup Of The Texas Dream Act The first policy alternative, the status quo, is to not repeal or change the current makeup of the Texas Dream Act. Texas awards around $9 million in grants and scholarships, which are paid from the appropriations made by the legislature every two years. This might seem like a large amount but that cost is merely a fraction of the net profit the states makes off of undocumented students paying tuition at universities across the state. By not changing the policy Texas would expect to attain $56.1 million in tuition revenue from the undocumented students attending universities in Texas. Besides the tuition revenue, Texas would expect to see another $65 billion from wages, salaries and business earning by undocumented immigrants. The extra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, US citizens from other states cannot pay in state tuition rates, so that is unfair to them. A way to solve this issue perhaps would be to create a public policy to allow US students to pay the same tuition rate across the US. In total, alternative 1 scores 2.05 out of 3.0. The policy is of low cost to the state, brings in a large amount of revenue, and is relatively fair to the parties involved and affected. The second policy alternative received the lowest overall score for many reasons. The Influence Of Cheetos In Popular Culture Popular culture is what combines ideas and objects generated by a society, including commercial, political, media, and other systems, as well as the impact of these ideas and objects on society. Conditioning human behavior has been studied for many years, Psychologists Edward Thorndike and B.F. Skinner, have dedicated the majority of their lives to the study. Thorndike s theory Law of effect. Thorndike suggests that certain stimuli and response become connected or dissociated from each other. His experiment worked by placing a cat in a box, then observing its behavior as it tried to escape and obtain the food on the other side. He studied several cats and plotted the time it took for them to escape from the puzzle box. The challenge to get out of the box remained the same, but the amount of time to get out of the box decreased, and while the animal may have not realized what it was doing, but knew what he had to do to receive the food. He concluded that animals learn from reward and punishment or trial and error. The theory of B.F. Skinner is based upon the idea that learning is about change in behavior. Operant conditioning is learning by consequence. To put it simply, an action which he rewarded is likely to be repeated along with an action that is punished is less likely to be repeated. B.F. • 6. Comparison Of Les Miserables And The Kite Runner Throughout history, people have held people to standards and judged people. In Les Miserables and the Kite Runner both societies had ideas on what was civilized and what was barbaric. This can be seen when characters had to change who they were in order to fit into what was civilized and not be different. In Les Miserables a demonstration of this is shown when Jean Valjean had to pretend to be something he s not in order to fit in with the society. Jean Valjean was labeled as a convict just because he stole some bread to help save his family from starvation. He then had to change his name and become a whole new person just because society viewed him as a bad person because he is a convict. What had been the life of this soul . Ignoring Limbo, Dante, intending to list the circles from the least grievous sin to the most grievous sin, orders the circles starting from lust, going to gluttony, greed, then wrath. Dante provides a thought provoking experience for the reader causing one to redefine his understanding of sin and God s judgement. After limbo, Dante presents the first circle of hell as the punishment for the lustful. While many, if given the choice, would not place lust as the least of all the sins, Dante does for good reason. Furthermore, sin s underlying principle is even more visible here. According to Aquinas reasoning of sin in Dante s Inferno, pride is at the root of all sin. Whereas pride regards sin as turning away from God, to Whose commandment man refuses to be subject, for which reason it is called the beginning, because the beginning of evil consists in turning away from God (Aquinas, 385). Aquinas articulates that pride is the basis for all sin, because pride takes place when we refuse to be subject to the will of God, and the beginning of all sin is when we first turn away from God. Should the government not protect all of these under its mission of liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? These questions cannot be answered. I believe that a government will not intervene until its own foundations become threatened. When it does feel threatened, as Hobbes will suggest, it might embrace such an element. Religion, once a significant part of society, played a large role in government. Rulers who feared the power of religion frequently embraced it, gaining much support and littler resentment: These [religious institutions] have developed to such a pitch of strength they can support their rulers in power no matter how they live and behave. He also felt that the entire world s evils came from a defective sense of reality and that these dramas promoted that. His steady contact with violent programs (which in the end, show a happy conclusion no matter what happens throughout) may convince him that this type of behavior is normal and accepted. Plato was concerned especially about the influence that drama and even pornography would have on children, because he felt that their minds were not developed to the full extent in order to differentiate between the right and wrong that they see in the dramas. Many people will be quick to agree that a child should not watch a rated R action movie, yet they still allow them to view a Saturday morning cartoon in which the main character gets run over every episode and still comes back the next week. Given that they are scrutinized for becoming their own people and dismissing the traditional ways a female should behave, I would like to look at not only how these athletes are treated, but how they respond to it. Also focusing on if this process has changed over time. Thesis Throughout the course of history, the consensus regarding traditional gender norms has changed immensely. Just the thought of going against these morals was unthinkable and shamed. However, as times have come to change, the challenging of these norms has become more accepted along with the notion that there are no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I cannot exactly say what because I did not live there, but there is always that thought. It always varies place to place, we are always seeing change, through technology and diversity for example, they influence how we define deviance. So yes and always. Q2. If so, will these previously thought of deviant behaviors always have that label, even if it is more accepted in today s society? Will they forever be known as deviant? A2. No, that s not always the case. Certain labels can change. Even so far we ve seen cases where one was deviant and we see radical change over time, there is nothing in a way that keeps it deviant. However some things are harder to change over time. Q3. Why, in today s age does more media coverage play a role? (it being easier to access, faster to publish news, more platforms...etc) A3. Cleary media plays some role and accessing information plays a role. Social reactions always plays a role, historically information would get passed and people would get stigmatized and labeled, now there is so much information that some can be cancelled out. For instance, how we hear about all of this crazy stuff on how Russia closed fake information supporting Trump. They would tweet and it would become fake news. People would then retweet what was said and it would be retweeted a million times to the point where it was all out for everyone to see and discuss. Sorry I am getting off of ... Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) . When applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as well as reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. These improvements are derived from the elimination, and consolidation, of redundant activities and tasks between the operations of disparate business units. Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have become focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as operating synergies. Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to increase cash flow or reduce the firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies provide the justification to enact the reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite the importance of operating synergies to the organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual components is the driving assumption behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s corporate climate, synergies are at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement internally generated (organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business combinations. The goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns generated by each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased revenues, and in some instances a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Kinesiology And Athletic Performance Analysis In American culture being an athlete or a coach is a major aspect of many lives. What is even more important than being an athlete or a coach is having a winning record. To achieve those winning records, coaches tend to focus on the athletic performance aspect of kinesiology and not realize the athlete is not the only factor when it comes to their athletic performance. Some of these factors include coaching which can break down into the task/ mastery environment which are good for athletes and ego environments which is typically more hostile, motivation which can either be intrinsic or extrinsic, and anxiety which often comes with coping techniques. If the coach can understand all aspects of kinesiology the relationship between the coach and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... State anxiety occurs during competition and decreases performances but interventions can decrease cognitive and somatic anxiety (Prapavessis, Grove, McNair, Cable). Athletes can also attain anxiety when they do not see their coaches as competent. For example, if a coach were to tell a soccer athlete to do this and then they get hurt they would not trust them and be anxious doing any other directions (Myers, Beauchamp, Chase, 2011). Since coaches are able to reduce an athlete s anxiety then, coaches have the ability to create a positive atmosphere and in this study student athletes had an overall positive view of their coaches ability to develop autonomy supportive team climates (Noble Forester, 2016). According to researcher s anxiety may be a predisposition but state anxiety is heavily influenced by the motivational climate, more specifically ego environments athletes reported increases in anxiety over the season (Smith, Smoll, Cumming, 2007). When athletes enter state anxiety many have coping methods, and PPR may influence performance through lowering the athlete s anxiety (Hazell, Cotterill, Hill, 2014) or even self talk (Miles Neil, 2013), but the success of using these techniques would depend on the situation. However, some research suggests that regardless of competition (good or bad) and sport (long duration/short duration) athletes reported an equal number of experiences and implemented coping strategies (Nieuwenhuys, Vos, Pijpstra, Bakker, 2011). With this conflicting research on how it effects athletes, there is research that states giving athletes CSAI 2 or sports oriented questionnaires can help both parties understand each other (Hall Kerr, ... The two articles entitled Movie Picture Association of America Defends Its Ratings System and Rating System Runs Adrift both deal with the issues of ratings systems in movies, music, video games, and television. The rating scale is used largely to protect children from what can be too inappropriate for them to view. As a matter of fact, The Movie Picture Association of America controls four different categories: music, movies, television shows and video games. The Movie Pictures Association of America uses five ratings for movies, seven ratings for TV shows, six ratings for video games and one rating for music. Gender Stereotypes And The Socialization Process Gender Stereotypes and the Socialization Process The pursuit of gender equality is a central element of a vision of sustainability in which every Member of Society respects others and plays a role that allows you to take advantage of their potential to the fullest. The broad goal of gender equality is a social goal that education and other social institutions should contribute. Gender discrimination is embed in the fabric of societies. In many societies, women bear the main burden of food production and child rearing. Also, women are often excluded from the family or Community decisions that affect their lives and well being. The Parents stereotyped by the gender Classified by gender expectations can occur regarding personality traits (for example, children are aggressive), skills (for example, girls are good for reading), activities, and roles (for example, men are scientists). While gender equality has increased in many cultures over the past decades, there has been a parallel growth in adults regarding the adoption of attitudes that reflect gender equality. Now there is more variation among parents; some have traditional expectations and others expressing expectations equal to their daughters and sons. The Biological View on Gender Dr. Strode English 101:KK 17 September 2010 The Biological and Cultural View on Gender Society has drilled an image into our minds as people of how the role of each gender should be played out. There are two recognized types of genders, a male and a female. Most people come to think that gender is just male or female. Yet it has become more complex then that. Today it is not just that if you have male parts, you are a man, the opposite goes for women. According to the authors Aaron Devor and Deborah Blum. Gender is much more complex then just male and female, it is more socially composed. We are taught to be male and female trough things like media, our parents, and role model figures. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By Blum using words like congenital adrenal hyperplasia and testosterone , Blum means that it is our chemical build up that determine our gender roles. Testosterone is what makes a man manly, so any male lacking testosterone will look and act more feminine. The opposite goes for women who have to much testosterone. Another example to support Blum s biological side for gender is that testosterone is the leading cause of why men act the way they do. Men most often have more testosterone then women. To further this idea Blum says, it not only has some body building functions, it influences some behaviors as well. These behaviors include rowdy play, sex drive, competitiveness, and in your face attitude (578). Words like rowdy play , competitiveness and sex drive are masculine characteristics that is why women with more testosterone may choose the toy truck or weapon to play with. Higher levels of testosterone could be what make some women appear masculine and some men appear feminine. My side of the gender topic would be that gender is cultural. Yes some things are biological like we get our eye color and our skin color from genetics. But the way we act is far more cultural, we learn to act male or female from society. Our parents and television show us demonstrations of these characteristics. I agree with Devor s beliefs on gender on how society builds these strict guidelines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His main moment of putting his trust in God was when he accepted his daughter s death and trusted that God was taking care of her in heaven. If he had not trusted God like he did, he would not have learned to trust God and act courageously like he did. His trust in God also lead to one other attribute that helped mold him into a good leader and a good man, and that was integrity. His integrity was the characteristic that allowed other men to follow him with a clean heart. His refusal to do what he knew to be wrong strengthened his role as a leader every time he exercised it. The integrity needed to turn in your best friend for dealing drugs is astounding. Even though his wife and his commanding officer were questioning whether he should listen to his conscience, he did so any way. His integrity also shone when he signed his resolution. The idea that he wanted to state publicly in front of everyone who he cared about, that he was going to live his life with integrity and by honoring God is astounding. This showed that he is a man who is worth following. This integrity is what makes him a man worth following. Without it, he would be a leader with nowhere to lead. What is interesting in this movie is the idea that Courageous emphasizes the fact that you cannot have just courage, just trust, or just integrity in order to be a leader and a Godly man. The high dependence on the U.S. market has proven to be a great weakness (since 2008) for Harley Davidson due to the poor economic condition of the US (GlobalData). Without their permission, the DNA samples were used to study topics that are considered taboo within the Havasupai tribe such as mental illness, migration, and inbreeding. There were many issues raised in the Havasupai case. To begin with, informed consent is an issue because samples were used without complete consent. Researchers only received consent for using the samples to study diabetes, or that is what the tribe members were told. Another issue raised in this case was migration studies, which is a topic that concerns may tribes because the scientific evidence based on their genetic research may go against certain tribal beliefs. Each tribe has their own beliefs based on their origin and migration studies may cause these tribes trouble. Scientists may be messing around with tribal history in the name of science. This would, without a doubt, raise ethical concerns. Stigmatism of the tribe was another issue raised in this case. Measuring the interbreeding coefficient causes harm and distress to the tribal community. During this study, researchers gained illegal access to medical records. Researchers did not have permission to access the medical records from the tribal officials or the clinical administrators. This is an invasion of privacy. It is also important to note that even though individuals within the study were not named, naming the tribe risked the identification of these individuals. In a small community, it is not hard to figure out who someone is based on genetic information that was released.
