How Drug And Human Trafficking Differ From Traditional...
but this could possibly happen in areas like Munro s borderlands , the Golden Triangle, or other places
within Southeast Asia.
How drug and human trafficking differ from traditional security threats are that unlike traditional
external military threats which represent a state or a force, transnational traffickers are a part of a
globalise network of groups and individuals. Discussed in the previous paragraph, people that are a
part of the trafficking industry range from everyday people and businessmen, to criminal groups; with
the only relation they have to each other is the commodity they smuggle. Because of this and the illicit
market drive of demand and supply, traditional means of increasing police, destroy criminal groups,
and increasing illegal trafficking penalties does little to reduce the demand and supply. In order to
reduce the flow of trafficked commodities, states should reduce the supply and demand of the illicit
industries. This essay will now discuss the state security challenges of corruption.
Corruption is an important factor necessary for smuggling illicit commodities transnationally. Both
Munro and Phil Williams support this in their texts, with Williams stating that, corruption is a
lubricant which allows organised criminal organisations to operate with maximum effectiveness . As
discussed in the previous paragraph, the drug industry provides large amounts of funds to illicit
groups. These funds can be used to pay off state officials to not

Sorrowful Woman vs. Story of an Hour
Effect of Irony In Story of an Hour A Sorrowful Woman
A life as a wife and/or a mother, is usually appreciated and is a happy life as well. A relationship
between two people should consist of joy, commitment, responsibility, and most importantly love. For
the two main characters in both stories ( The Story of An Hour , and A Sorrowful Woman ) this was
not the case. The stories go against societies view with marriage roles and happiness. In The Story of
an Hour by Kate Chopin, the main character (Mrs.Mallard) is a married woman. Mrs.Mallard was
afflicted with a heart problem . The author was not very specific about her troubled heart, which
seemed to be a symbol of not just physical, but emotional distress as well. ... Show more content on

This explains her sanity was gone and she was unhappy with herself. Eventually the character isolates
herself in a room, away from her family as she examined the outside world through her window. The
irony in that scene is that she was trapped behind the outside world, just as she was trapped within
herself. As she spent her days in the white room, she began to develop different routines but none of
them satisfied her. She was unhappy with herself until she tried once more to transform herself once
again as a wife and mother. During her last attempt of being a housewife she took the time to knit two
sweaters for her husband and son. The sweaters were both dull and gray as in lifeless, which is ironic
towards the way the character perceived herself or surroundings. In both stories, each woman was put
into a stereotypical role of being housewives. This was popular in history because women did not have
much choice or option rather then stay home and cook, clean, take care of their children, etc. Both
women were married but instead of appreciating their lives in a joyful perspective, they were
oppressed by their living conditions. In both stories, there is a window scene mentioned. The window
seems to have symbolism of freedom which is ironic, because in reality they were both trapped in
unhappiness. Each time the characters looked through their windows, the outside view is described
through the characters perspective in a optimistic and desirable tune, while staying

The Pros And Cons Of Consenting
In 1993, five men engaged into activities, which to them only brought gratification and satisfaction.
However, it was evident when the Law Lords upheld the original convictions of the men under the
1861 Offences Against the Person Act for engaging in sadomasochism , that the law saw it differently.
All five men were fully consenting adults, who willingly and privately participated. Still, the Law
Lords held that it is not in the public interest that people should try to cause, or should cause, each
other actual bodily harm for no good reason. This decision, has become a very controversial one, with
many questioning its merits. This essay will therefore try to negate whether consent should have been
a sufficient defence, if this decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case it was mentioned that it is not in the public interest that activities such as the appellants in
this appeal should amount to criminal behaviour. Consensual activity between husband and wife, in
the privacy of the matrimonial home, is not in our judgement, normally a matter for criminal
investigation, let alone criminal prosecution. R v Dica also reinforced this point by expressing if adults
were to be liable to prosecution for the consequences of taking known risks with their health, it would
seem odd that this should be confined to risks taking in the context of sexual intercourse. While they
are nevertheless permitted to take the risks inherent in so many other aspects of everyday

Bilbo s Use Of Escapism In The Hobbit
Everyone has to grow up at some point in their lives. Some people mature faster than others and some
take their entire lives to mature emotionally and intellectually. Modern fantasy today takes an especial
interest in growth. Examples of this interest include J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter series and J.R.R.
Tolkien s The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as his 1937 introductory, The Hobbit. Characters
within these books grow up emotionally and mentally through the course of events within the novels
and series. Audiences of these books are able to grow with the characters as well, through escapism.
Critics of modern fantasy and escapism, like Kurt Lancaster in his 2001 essay, Why Fantasy Rings

Escapism lets the audience tackle the question of morality in a way that they might not be able to do in
the real world. Tolkien proposes the moral choice through Bilbo s confrontation with Gollum, who
stands in Bilbo s way to freedom out of the mountain even though Bilbo has a weapon and is invisible
(The Hobbit 81). Tolkien s use of Bilbo demonstrates Lancaster s idea, ...fantasy is just escapism. But
it s also about the search for truth and for our place in the world... (9). Bilbo s moral choice is difficult
because of his desire to escape the mountain and the goblins. Bilbo has some clear advantages over
Gollum, which would make it easy for him to kill Gollum. However, Bilbo still takes the time to step
back and demonstrates what he is thinking and discloses to the audience the reasoning for his moral
choice. Bilbo thinks how Gollum never actually says he was going to kill Bilbo. All Gollum has been
up to this point is intensely dislikeable and a bully to Bilbo. However, does that really give Bilbo the
right to just kill him? Does that give the audience the right to kill Gollum? Bilbo s step back and
choice teaches the audience the truth that no, no one has the right to just end another s life like that.
Bilbo s choice also demonstrates how he has found his place in the world morally and likewise the
audience s place should always be the moral high ground. While the moral choice is difficult for Bilbo
to make, Bilbo still knows it is important for him as a person to make because he is better than Gollum
and the goblins and other evil creatures he faces. The entire scene teaches the audience that they too
should always make the moral decision because of the reason Bilbo gives and that there is always
another way around a difficult situation with moral implications. Through escapism, the audience is
allowed to journey

Subjectivism Definition Essay
Infallibility Simple subjectivism has a problem that brings about infallibility. They make moral
statements infallible, in only talking about our own attitudes. However, we are not infallible about our
moral claims in life, but we do make mistakes in our lives as well. Subjectivism claims to say that the
truth of the moral judgements is reliant on the subjective state of mind of a particular person brings
about that any given person is infallible in their moral judgment. It just seems that, as long as a
straightforward person reports one s subjective state of mind, that person is in fact, making a moral
judgment, which cannot be fabricated. (Sophilos 2012).

Is abortion morally wrong these days? Some people feel that it is, while other people feel very
strongly that it is not. People have argued about this issue for years, talking about a wide variety of
facts and arguments. Sometimes people go both ways, but they are using to stick to their facts and
beliefs about abortion. I believe that it is fair to say that there will never be an agreement for abortion
in the future ahead. Another example is pet cloning, the cloning of an animal. Some people accuse pet
cloning supporters of encouraging soon to be pet cloning customers to deceptively expect that their
new pets will be indistinguishable from their old pets. Protectors of pet cloning argue that pet cloning
does not contribute to pet homelessness of the animals. The animals involved in the pet cloning are
treated compassionately, and it makes people happy and there is a request for it. Pet cloning
contributes to scientific, veterinary, and medical understanding, and it will support efforts to preserve
in danger of extinction companions of the cat and dog species. They as well claim that cloning is no

The Transition Through Middle School And High School
The future holds an uncertain thing in life and with it come many responsibilities. I realized how
things change so often happens as quickly and as unexpectedly as it does. The transition through
middle school and high school has changed me thoroughly. I ve learned that high school has made me
smarter for who to trust and judge people more than I usually do. High school gave me more options,
viewpoints, and ideas. I mature in almost every way, and learn more about myself for what I m good
at. There will be hard times but eventually get through them.
It started when I was a freshman in high school. It was a 10 minute walk from my house. I got out of

say hi to me or follow me. I already know that she would be embarrassed but that didn t bother me at
all. I still did what she told me not to do because that s how annoying little sister (I) can be.
During my sophomore year, my grades drop. It was a disaster. I felt frustrated and stressed. I had to
study like I have never studied before. I have never improved ever since; in fact I did worst during my
junior year. I didn t care about the bad scores I got on my quizzes/tests. Overall, my worst gpa was

better from them. Getting lectured by my parents was the one thing I hated about. They would always
say, Do well in school or else you can t graduate. Be like your sister, who studies hard. That s when I
started talking back at them; I said, Don t tell me what to do. I will graduate, watch me. I ve also
encountered number of situations where I was forced by my parents to undertake courses that I was
never interested in.
My weaknesses are standardized testing. I do not perform well on tests. I can be smart and understand

“Religion was more important than politics in the failure...
Religion was more important than politics in the failure of King and Parliament to reach a settlement.
1646 1649 , Assess the validity of this statement.
In January 1649, King Charles I was executed after being charged with high treason due to political
and religious reasons, some of which contributed to his refusal in accepting the peace settlements
given to him by Parliament. Charles refusal to compromise was supported by the division that had
emerged within Parliament on how to fight the civil war between the Political Presbyterians and
Political Independents. The main factors of the failure to reach a settlement were religion, politics,

Still Ireton spoke for the grandees which did include Cromwell and insisted that the franchise should
be restricted to those with a permanent fixed interest in the kingdom as Seel 2 says, and that the vote
should go to those who possessed property or there would otherwise be a disturbance to a good
constitution of the kingdom . This was seen as important because the views of the religious radicals
made settlements more difficult and furthermore increased the tension of division among those in the
army and in parliament.
The politicisation of the New Model Army also played a significant role in the failure to reach a
settlement in the years 1646 to 1649 between Charles and Parliament. What made the army politicised
was the concerns of their wages of £3 million in arrears and the possibility of being faced with the
charges of committing offences from the First Civil War, as Parliament had not passed an indemnity
act. The army presented Charles with the Heads of The Proposals in 1647, which links back to
religious division in parliament, , under Cromwell and Ireton s influence, putting forward more stricter
terms such as religious toleration was to be more effective to a wider degree and that the army was to

Essay On Medical Billing
Among the most vital things about in the medical billing rates business is coming up with a criterion
of what rates to charge for your services. The rate that you decide to settle upon is what you charge the
ensuing provider s office for billing on their behalf. As such, it implies that the billing rate is the
amount of money your doctor pays you for doing the billing for them.
With that backdrop, bear in mind that the biggest decision ( arguably ) that you ll ever have to make in
your line of business is settling on the rates to charge. And that s because your rates affect the bottom
line in more ways than one.
For starters, a very low rate will mean that you ll be struggling with a load of work and getting peanuts

Percentage pricing sits atop the pedestal of the most competitive criteria for determining medical
billing rates. Under this umbrella we have,
a.) As a percentage/portion of collections
In this case, the biller ( you ) bases their rates/fee on the net amount of money collected or revenue
associated with their collections. In such a situation, the biller is responsible for making sure that full
payments are made to the responsible party.
b. As a percentage/portion of gross claims
Using a such a criterion to base your fee means that you will be charging the healthcare provide an
agreed upon percentage of the claims associated with your billing services. Which, of course, implies
that the more claims you make and send to his clients, the more money flows into your business.

phenomenon that is football hooliganism has been over researched over the years, but this article

Even though academic research has developed greatly and during this time the line between fan and
hooligan has been challenged many of times but people still have their traditional view. For example
Edge in 1997 says that hooligans are a cancer and an unwelcome infiltration in the ranks of us true
fans (Edge 1997:15). Williams in 2001 supports that by edge and also adds that many fans did not
attend matches during the perceived height of hooliganism due to their fear of violence. Despite these
statements this paper argues that this does not reflect the opinion of many other fans. An interview that
took place in Liverpool November 2004 one fans says commentators on the subject of hooliganism do
not tell you what fans really think. (Interview, Liverpool, November 9th 2004). However in this
Hayley and Johnston in 1998 examine how violence can help a hooligan for example gaining a status
such as a true nutter in football (Hayley and Johnston, 1998) and Poulton in 2003 says that many
hooligans enjoy notoriety. (Poulton, 2003:19). None of these statement question fans though they are
both just assumptions made by people. The research in this article says that most fans that were
interviewed refused to condemn hooliganism but they had positive attitudes for it. But overall this
does not say that all the fans that were interviewed in this study agreed with hooliganism, some fans
complained about hooliganism ruining the game for them and

Roaring Dragon Hotel was a three star state owned enterprise (SOE) in south west China. The hotel
staffing included the employees who transferred from other SOEs who considered working in Roaring
Dragon Hotel prestigious and had some guanxi or connections. The overall organizational culture was

Universal Education Countless countries benefit from a capitalistic system, but others, like Denmark,

Software And Software Based Systems Testing
Introduction Software and software based systems testing is a technical discipline of systems
engineering. The purpose of software and software based systems testing is to help the development
organization build quality into the software and system during the life cycle processes and to validate
that the quality was achieved. The test process determines whether the products of a given life cycle
activity conform to the requirements of that activity, and whether the product satisfies its intended use
and user needs. This determination can include inspection, demonstration, analysis, and testing of
software and software based system products. Test activities are performed in parallel with software
and system development, not just at the conclusion of the development effort. IEEE 829 supports all
software life cycle processes, including acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance.
This standard is compatible with all life cycle models. Not all life cycle models use all of the life cycle
processes listed in this standard. System and software test processes determine whether the outcomes
of a given activity conform to the requirements of that activity and whether the development product
satisfies its intended use and user needs. The determination may include analysis, demonstration,
inspection, and testing of software products. The user of this standard may invoke those software life
cycle processes and the associated test processes that apply to the project.

I personally don t like to eat out much. I only go out and eat when there are any special occasions. The

The Cheesecake Factory is very familiar with everyone now. This place is famous for their

by. The Cheesecake Factory s mission statement and more specific policies about conduct to give
employees, partners, vendors, and outsiders an idea of what the corporation stands for and how it s
staff should conduct themselves. Key areas that are of significant importance to The Cheesecake
Factory start with the general standards of conduct in how all its employees will be treated by fellow
employees and by management. The standards deals the basic values that we all have, with the
expectation of building trust, loyalty, honesty, respect, and a high level of professionalism within the
company. This will create a positive working environment that will uplift the attitudes and morale of
its employees and depending on what your position is could increase productivity and customer
relations. All jobs have a certain amount stress related to it, but having those basic codes of the takes
away a lot the negative personal stress that can arrive on the job.
In conclusion, I still consider The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite place to eat. Even though I had a
bad experience there once, I think that they can improve it better.

Essay Comparing Frankenstein And Pygmalion
The novel Frankenstein and the play Pygmalion both tell stories of a person that is ugly and socially
undesirable trying to become happy with the help of someone else. In different ways, the two stories
look at similar ideas of personal transformations that a person may go through and the search for love
and happiness in a person s life. Even though the genres, main characters, and overall themes may
seem very different at first glance, both stories examine the relationships between a creator and its
creation and the responsibilities that the creator has to its creation in addition to looking at themes of
social justice and the way that people are treated based on perceived traits that a person may have.
Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley tells the story of a scientist named Frankenstein who
reanimates a dead person. Instead of studying his creation, which was his original intent, Frankenstein
becomes disgusted with what he has done and completely turns his back on the creature that he had
created. The creature argues with Frankenstein and tells him that because he created him, it is
Frankenstein s responsibility to make the creature a mate, which he believes will make ... Show more

The Gypsy As A Dichotomy
Since the arrival of Romani people to the British Isles, the figure of the Gypsy has been controversial
by being an object of both fear and desire. The word Gypsy evokes a series of images of people and
their way of life. For some, Gypsies are synonyms of criminals and fortune tellers, appearing as a
threat for the civilization. For others, they remind a nomadic life in nature exempt from the restrictions
of the settled society.
This dichotomy has categorized the Romani people as the exotic other , possessing, at the same time,
the quality of foreigners and the idiosyncrasy of being autochthonous. As Epstein points out, like the
oriental or the colonized, racially marked subject, the Gypsy was associated with a rhetoric of
primitive desires, lawlessness, mystery (etc.) with freedoms from the repressions, both constraining
and culture building of Western civilization. (3).

power he achieves by owning both Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. However there are
other instances of him rearranging the property: for Catherine I, he takes the place of the whip she
requested as a present from her father s trip to Liverpool (Mr. Earnshaw lost it in attending on the
stranger (32)). Furthermore, his existence in the family requests for sustenance, provoking Mrs.
Earnshaw to react angrily asking her husband How he could fashion to bring that gipsy brat into the

Hindley, Heathcliff [is] a usurper of his parent s affections and his privileges (33). Consequently,

The first conservation land trust was the Trustees of Reservations which was founded in the early
1890 s. The number of land trusts has steadily increased with most forming in the last 25 years or so.
There are land trusts working in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and other countries worldwide, in addition
to international land trusts like The Nature Conservancy and the World Land Trust.
Land trusts conserve all different types of land. Some protect only farmland or ranchland, others

31% of land trusts reported having at least one full time staff member, 54% are all volunteer, and 15%

Essay On Short Selling
The far majority who invest in the stock market or a type of security hope that their investment
escalates in value or price. However, others execute investments based on the opposite taking place;
they hope that the price of the security declines. These investors are practicing short selling.
Numerous renowned examples of short selling exist, one of which, the shorting of mortgage backed
securities during the real estate bubble in 2008. A number of critics find short selling unethical while
others feel it necessary to maintain a balance in the market. According to Nasdaq, short selling can be
defined as establishing a market position by selling a security that one does not own in anticipation of

In the 1980s, investments banks such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, and
Morgan Stanley started selling mortgage bonds. Mortgage bonds were a collection of thousands of
home mortgages, purchased from lenders, and their associated income streams (monthly payment). To
address the fact that some homeowners often refinance their debt when interest rates are low which
prematurely pays off the debt, mortgage bonds were stacked into layers called tranches . The lowest
tranche represented mortgages to be paid off early, and the highest layer was the last mortgages to be
paid off. Then, in the 1990s, bonds were created consisting of subprime mortgages, which were higher
risk mortgages with high interest rates, made to borrowers with lower credit levels. Essentially, banks
were handing out mortgages like candy to consumers who were never going to be able to make the
payments, but Wall Street kept buying and packaging the mortgages into bonds. Since these bonds
were inherently riskier, one wonders why investors were still willing to buy. Investors, who look at
ratings by agencies such as Moodys and Standard Poors, had no reason to believe these bonds were
risky investments. The agencies, whom were being paid by Wall Street, were assigning high ratings to
these risky bonds. Que the creation of the Collateralized Debt Obligation (CDO). CDOs bundled the

Analysis Of Oath Of The Horatii
Oath of the Horatii is life size oil on canvas painting that is about thirteen feet wide by ten feet tall.
The painting was done by Jacques Louis David, who was the leading Neoclassical painter in France
during the eighteenth century. David rejected the Rococo style that was popular of that time, which
was characterized by fantasy and playfulness. David was interested in painting images with antiquity.
The Oath of the Horatii has elements of classical Greek and Roman art and architecture. Oath of the
Horatii was a political painting that David had comprised to stimulate the publics attention (Fred S.
Kleiner 680).
Oath of the Horatii captures a heroic and patriotic moment. Something big is happening in this
composition. There are three Horatii brothers taking an oath, which is being administered by their
father. The oath they are taking is to live or die for their country, which happens to be Rome. While
taking this oath, the Horatii brothers are facing their father. They stand in unison with one another.
They each have one leg and arm extending out. The father holds three swords up and out towards the
Horatii brothers in the same pose. The Horatii brothers extended arms are saluting towards the swords.
The postures of all four men appear upright and strong. There is no emotion of fear on their faces. The
brothers appear athletic and fit. This can be seen in the muscular details of their legs and arms. They
appear bold and ready to sacrifice their lives. The father does not

Brain Injuries During World War II
After the long and physically demanding battles of World War Two, many soldiers returned to the
United States of America battling injuries many physicians did not know how to acknowledge at the
time. But, as many soldiers were able to return to their families, even with a brain injury, many
soldiers lost their lives to brain injuries. Two researchers who conducted one of the largest studies on
base camps about the extent of brain injuries and how it affected soldiers was Sekulovic and
Ceramilac, these researchers were able to summaries autopsies of 499 deaths occurring within 30 days
of traumatic brain injury. 1 Sekulovic and Ceramilac were able to find that 78% of the deaths were due
to injury to brain stem, brain edema or brain compression. 1 While Sekulovic and Ceramilac were able
to determine the percentage of which were affected by brain injuries during World War Two, many
researchers were hoping to acknowledge the dynamic longer term possibilities. According to Dr. Ian J.
Baguley, patients who had been released from the hospital into rehabilitation facilities 1 were
considered long term for brain injuries. Where as Dr. Robert M. Shavelle found that patients coming
from war can be classified as long term as long as the effects lasted one year or longer post injury. 1

Birth Order Argumentative Analysis
In this article, I feel like the author either had children or had siblings. The way this passage talks
about the importance of birth order, it is a very good argument to someone who does not believe that it
s not important. The author does get the point across very well. To me, the point of view seems to be
that children get different attention, depending on the number of siblings or just being a only child.
You really do not understand what the birth order actually means, until you really think about from
psychology kind of way. That is how this article really is based off of, like how he starts the article.

Eckstein and Kaufman point out that perceptions and beliefs about birth order may have their effects,
in large part, because parents impose their own stereotypes onto their children. By assigning these
stereotyped birth order roles, which may interact with gender roles, parents create self fulfilling
prophecies among their brood. You come to feel like the leader, if you re a first born, because you
were handed this role early in your life. Say if a mother has more than one child, the oldest (to the
parents) should be the best behaved. As explained by Stewart, using Adler s framework, the first born
(or one with the oldest role) would be most likely to take on a leadership position, like when people
stick to rules and order, and strive toward achievement goals. The firstborn may be sensitive to being
dethroned by younger sibs who drain away the attention of parents that the firstborn enjoyed before
they came along. (pg. 4, 30 34) Firstborn items on the PBOI tap feelings of being powerful, important,

Relationship Between Indentured Servants And Slaves
The typical colonial planter s views were inconsistent due to the exploited non white races within the
vast majority of indentured servants and the economic manipulation of the British government.
Indentured servants and slaves were overworked by their masters because exploitive colonial planters
and plantation owners pushed them to the degree that they eventually died at a very early. When
indentured non white servants migrated to Virginia in the seventeenth century, they were immediately
put to work because masters sought to gain wealth as soon as possible and lead forty percent of these
servants to die before their four year term was finished (Jovanovich, 1984). Inhumane exploitation

Book Review Of Thatcher And Thatcherism
The book Thatcher and Thatcherism written by Eric J. Evans, already from its name, gave us a sense
of what about the book is. The book is divided into ten chapters which highlighted the main areas of
Thatcher´s political life and issues that she dealt with. These chapters work as summaries all important
issues and facts.
The first chapter includes the background of political life in 1970´s Britain and it deeply examines the
phenomenon of Thatcherism. Moreover, it serves as overall introduction to whole book and it could be
viewed as a prelude to the following chapter by picturing Thatcher earlier carrier in the Conservative
Party before her Premiership that started after the victory of the Conservative Party in 1979 election.
Through the second chapter, Evans explained the reason of the victory of the Conservative Party and
Thatcher´s success. Evans namely emphasized the Winter of Discontent, which changed political
situation in Britain. Therefore, Thatcher built her political strategy on the promise that her government
would bring revolutionary change in economy. It seems that her campaign based on rhetoric Labour
isn t working was also eagerly accepted by voters.
The third chapter was carried in similar notion focusing on the factors that helped the Conservative
Party to win the second election. There was no doubt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

influence abroad and how was Thatcherism perceived out of Britain. From these first two chapters was

policies. The Thatcher´s period was significantly marked with the close Anglo American relations

The Maternal Mortality Rate Of Afghanistan Essay
Goal 5
The fifth goal is to increase maternal health in countries with a focus on reducing the maternal
mortality rate by three fourths and universal access to reproductive health both by 2015. Despite a
43% reduction in maternal deaths since 1990, there are still a large number of women who die during
childbirth from preventable causes such as hemorrhaging (United Nations, 2015, p. 38).
In 2002 Afghanistan reported a baseline figure of 1,600 deaths per 100,000 with a 2015 targeted
reduction to 315 (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, 2013, p. 53). While Afghanistan was able to reach
the original goal it had set for itself, new goals were created to combat the continuous high number of
maternal deaths. Afghanistan has identified general lack of family planning, a limited supply of
qualified midwives, and limited access to health care in general as contributing factors towards such
high maternal death rates. The state has been working with UNICEF, WHO, and other international
partners to implement its National Reproductive health strategy to help combat the conditions in
which Afghanistan mothers find themselves.
Goal 6
The sixth goal is to combat HIV/AIDS and other diseases, focusing on reversing their spread and
providing universal access to treatment. We have seen progress made in most countries towards
achieving this goal, with the statistics falling every day, however, we are far from the finish line as a
little over 2 million people still contract AIDS/HIV.

Biography Of Ludwig Van Beethoven s Symphonies
Ludwig van Beethoven s nine symphonies are indispensable pieces of music and contributed to him
being referred to as one of the most famous musicians in all of musical history. His symphonies are
still played today and are recognized around the world. He is known as a symphonic master due to his
nine symphonies. Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer during the transitional period
between the Classical and Romantic eras. Beethoven s symphonies were greatly influenced by Haydn
and Mozart in the beginning, but they showed remarkable signs of his individuality and eventually
transformed into his own style. His life is categorized into three periods; early period, heroic period,
and later period, in which his music had distinct characteristics in each of the time periods. His
symphonies were first composed in a very classical style that stemmed from his mentors, to later
develop into a more romantic style with his own personal touch to finally compose the music that he
wanted, without thinking about the music he thought he was supposed to compose. The early period
of Beethoven s life lasted approximately six years, from 1794 to 1800. This period began directly after
Beethoven met the famous composer Franz Joseph Hayden and moved to Vienna to study with him for
two years. Although the lessons with Hayden were not successful due to a personality conflict, Haydn
greatly influenced Beethoven s early period. This period of his life encompassed smaller musical
pieces

Dark Imagery In Wise Blood By Flannery O Connor
Through the use of the dark imagery and the Essex, religious symbolism in Wise Blood appears again
and again to prove that the longings of the heart cannot be found in the world. O Connor uses darkness
to delve into certain aspects of each character. She depicts Taulkinham as a grim place. When the main
character, Haze, begins his new life in this new town, it is depicted to have a black sky, he soon sees a
man with a black suit and a black hat... accompanies a girl with her black dress and black knitted cap...
(O Connor 35). Not only does this act as a haunting description of setting, but these dark details can
act as bold and bright red flags, for these characters dressed in black and this depressing town looming
with destruction. She continues to describe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The darkness in Hazel s eyes at the end of the novel is comforting and symbolizes salvation (Brown).
The darkness that Enoch runs into, and is wearing, symbolizes alienation and friendship. TOne of the
few female characters presented is a young lady named Sabbath and her blind father Asa. The eyes of
Asa, and his daughter s weird sexual fetish with Hazel, represent the symbol of innocence, ultimate
demise, and hopelessness. She uses the symbol of darkness throughout the novel as a recurring object
to justify salvation, alienation, friendship, blindness, and redemption. The darkness symbolizes the
redemption. Ultimate salvation that is supposedly coming to Hazel. The color of the suit is black;
therefore, the darkness, embedded in the suit, symbolizes his salvation and redemption throughout the
novel. He wears it and it wears him. It is inescapable. The blind theme of the novel has nothing to do
with human eyes. It has to do with the fact that the characters have all blinded themselves; they have
shut their eyes to the truth of Christ (Brown). Blindness is not something to envy and is no less than a

Essay about On Delacroix and Courbet
On Delacroix and Courbet The period surrounding 1781 to 1855 in France s history is united by social
and political change, an evolution of ideological struggles towards the best possible political struggle
amongst anchoring human faults. The life of the artist too underwent change and struggled with the
hierarchy that existed to validate artistic triumph. Changes are apparent amongst a broad spectrum,
including David, Ingres, history paintings and caricatures. Artists that demonstratively epitomize the
shifts, overwhelmingly united by a shift from acceptance to defiance, are Eugene Delacroix (1789
1863) and Gustave Courbet (1819 1877). Artistic and cultural differences that developed are

The Salon and its competitions dictated the motives of the artist. Delacroix s first winning painting
was Dante and Virgil in Hell (1822). This painting was indeed a success: the French believed
themselves to be a modern embodiment of the Classics, and Dante and Virgil reinforced this well
enough. The painting is deemed a revolution in itself. The colors blend together so much that the
painting is better understood from farther away than up close. Fans triumphed it s subject matter:
...romanticism will not consist in a perfect execution, but in a conception analogous to the ethical
disposition of the age. This painting, after the Divine Comedy, also embeds Delacroix in the literary
movement. This movement was vital to the overall organization of history painting, as a sharp literary
vocabulary of the painter was admired if not necessary. Delacroix has a fondness for Dante and
Shakespeare, two other great painters of human anguish. Delacroix concerned himself with grand,
tortured ideas. This literary fascination of Shakespeare, Bryon, Sir Walter Scott, etc. can be seen as a
departure from the classics into modernity even though it served as good grounding for him. The way
of Delacroix is a distinct, unique flair.
Although Delacroix was the youngest artist with works in the Louvre, his antagonistic paintings would
begin to receive more demanding criticism. Gros described one of his works as the massacre of the
painting. He depicted many scenes on

Essay on Activision Blizzard Merger Case Study Analysis
CASE 3 8: The Activision Blizzard Merger
In December of 2007 the merger of Activision and Blizzard was announced. Blizzard Entertainment,
one of four divisions of Vivendi games, was the key ingredient for synergy between the two firms.
First, an introduction to the video game software industry is pertinent. This will be followed by some
discussion regarding the major trends and major players in the industry. Second, some insight will be
provided on the merging companies, Activision and Blizzard. Third, the potential value of the merger
will be explored, along with some analysis of the partnership. Lastly, I will give my personal views of

Activision Pre merger: Activision was a leading developer and publisher of video game software for
consoles. Its top titles include Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, and Call of Duty, all of which have multiple
games in their series. The company itself was moderately vertically integrated, with ownership of
some development, publishing, and distribution activities. Its strengths lie in its growth strategies;
partnerships allowed the firm to exclusive rights to certain brands. Other strengths include leading
game titles for multiple platforms, hit sequels that are less capital intensive to develop, a stringent
green light process for quality control, ability for online game play, and divisions in over a dozen
countries. Weaknesses include lack of existence in foreign markets, lack of PC software development
techniques, and the fact that licensed content is vulnerable to competition. The opportunities available
are sequels to already established titles, growth in industry, and future partnerships based on their
good reputation with previous alliances. Threats include competition from other software developers
like THQ and Take Two, the cyclical nature of releases, and the reliance on game consoles for use of
software.
Blizzard Pre Merger: Strengths for the Company include top performing titles manufactured for use
on computers, reoccurring revenues based on subscriptions, and a presence in the hard to penetrate
Asian market.

  • 2. How Drug And Human Trafficking Differ From Traditional... but this could possibly happen in areas like Munro s borderlands , the Golden Triangle, or other places within Southeast Asia. How drug and human trafficking differ from traditional security threats are that unlike traditional external military threats which represent a state or a force, transnational traffickers are a part of a globalise network of groups and individuals. Discussed in the previous paragraph, people that are a part of the trafficking industry range from everyday people and businessmen, to criminal groups; with the only relation they have to each other is the commodity they smuggle. Because of this and the illicit market drive of demand and supply, traditional means of increasing police, destroy criminal groups, and increasing illegal trafficking penalties does little to reduce the demand and supply. In order to reduce the flow of trafficked commodities, states should reduce the supply and demand of the illicit industries. This essay will now discuss the state security challenges of corruption. Corruption is an important factor necessary for smuggling illicit commodities transnationally. Both Munro and Phil Williams support this in their texts, with Williams stating that, corruption is a lubricant which allows organised criminal organisations to operate with maximum effectiveness . As discussed in the previous paragraph, the drug industry provides large amounts of funds to illicit groups. These funds can be used to pay off state officials to not ... • 3. Sorrowful Woman vs. Story of an Hour Effect of Irony In Story of an Hour A Sorrowful Woman A life as a wife and/or a mother, is usually appreciated and is a happy life as well. A relationship between two people should consist of joy, commitment, responsibility, and most importantly love. For the two main characters in both stories ( The Story of An Hour , and A Sorrowful Woman ) this was not the case. The stories go against societies view with marriage roles and happiness. In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, the main character (Mrs.Mallard) is a married woman. Mrs.Mallard was afflicted with a heart problem . The author was not very specific about her troubled heart, which seemed to be a symbol of not just physical, but emotional distress as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This explains her sanity was gone and she was unhappy with herself. Eventually the character isolates herself in a room, away from her family as she examined the outside world through her window. The irony in that scene is that she was trapped behind the outside world, just as she was trapped within herself. As she spent her days in the white room, she began to develop different routines but none of them satisfied her. She was unhappy with herself until she tried once more to transform herself once again as a wife and mother. During her last attempt of being a housewife she took the time to knit two sweaters for her husband and son. The sweaters were both dull and gray as in lifeless, which is ironic towards the way the character perceived herself or surroundings. In both stories, each woman was put into a stereotypical role of being housewives. This was popular in history because women did not have much choice or option rather then stay home and cook, clean, take care of their children, etc. Both women were married but instead of appreciating their lives in a joyful perspective, they were oppressed by their living conditions. In both stories, there is a window scene mentioned. The window seems to have symbolism of freedom which is ironic, because in reality they were both trapped in unhappiness. Each time the characters looked through their windows, the outside view is described through the characters perspective in a optimistic and desirable tune, while staying ... • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Consenting In 1993, five men engaged into activities, which to them only brought gratification and satisfaction. However, it was evident when the Law Lords upheld the original convictions of the men under the 1861 Offences Against the Person Act for engaging in sadomasochism , that the law saw it differently. All five men were fully consenting adults, who willingly and privately participated. Still, the Law Lords held that it is not in the public interest that people should try to cause, or should cause, each other actual bodily harm for no good reason. This decision, has become a very controversial one, with many questioning its merits. This essay will therefore try to negate whether consent should have been a sufficient defence, if this decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case it was mentioned that it is not in the public interest that activities such as the appellants in this appeal should amount to criminal behaviour. Consensual activity between husband and wife, in the privacy of the matrimonial home, is not in our judgement, normally a matter for criminal investigation, let alone criminal prosecution. R v Dica also reinforced this point by expressing if adults were to be liable to prosecution for the consequences of taking known risks with their health, it would seem odd that this should be confined to risks taking in the context of sexual intercourse. While they are nevertheless permitted to take the risks inherent in so many other aspects of everyday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Bilbo s Use Of Escapism In The Hobbit Everyone has to grow up at some point in their lives. Some people mature faster than others and some take their entire lives to mature emotionally and intellectually. Modern fantasy today takes an especial interest in growth. Examples of this interest include J.K. Rowling s Harry Potter series and J.R.R. Tolkien s The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as his 1937 introductory, The Hobbit. Characters within these books grow up emotionally and mentally through the course of events within the novels and series. Audiences of these books are able to grow with the characters as well, through escapism. Critics of modern fantasy and escapism, like Kurt Lancaster in his 2001 essay, Why Fantasy Rings True also acknowledge the personal growth that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Escapism lets the audience tackle the question of morality in a way that they might not be able to do in the real world. Tolkien proposes the moral choice through Bilbo s confrontation with Gollum, who stands in Bilbo s way to freedom out of the mountain even though Bilbo has a weapon and is invisible (The Hobbit 81). Tolkien s use of Bilbo demonstrates Lancaster s idea, ...fantasy is just escapism. But it s also about the search for truth and for our place in the world... (9). Bilbo s moral choice is difficult because of his desire to escape the mountain and the goblins. Bilbo has some clear advantages over Gollum, which would make it easy for him to kill Gollum. However, Bilbo still takes the time to step back and demonstrates what he is thinking and discloses to the audience the reasoning for his moral choice. Bilbo thinks how Gollum never actually says he was going to kill Bilbo. All Gollum has been up to this point is intensely dislikeable and a bully to Bilbo. However, does that really give Bilbo the right to just kill him? Does that give the audience the right to kill Gollum? Bilbo s step back and choice teaches the audience the truth that no, no one has the right to just end another s life like that. Bilbo s choice also demonstrates how he has found his place in the world morally and likewise the audience s place should always be the moral high ground. While the moral choice is difficult for Bilbo to make, Bilbo still knows it is important for him as a person to make because he is better than Gollum and the goblins and other evil creatures he faces. The entire scene teaches the audience that they too should always make the moral decision because of the reason Bilbo gives and that there is always another way around a difficult situation with moral implications. Through escapism, the audience is allowed to journey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Subjectivism Definition Essay Infallibility Simple subjectivism has a problem that brings about infallibility. They make moral statements infallible, in only talking about our own attitudes. However, we are not infallible about our moral claims in life, but we do make mistakes in our lives as well. Subjectivism claims to say that the truth of the moral judgements is reliant on the subjective state of mind of a particular person brings about that any given person is infallible in their moral judgment. It just seems that, as long as a straightforward person reports one s subjective state of mind, that person is in fact, making a moral judgment, which cannot be fabricated. (Sophilos 2012). A subjectivism claim similar to this one cannot be deep rooted by a personal, individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is abortion morally wrong these days? Some people feel that it is, while other people feel very strongly that it is not. People have argued about this issue for years, talking about a wide variety of facts and arguments. Sometimes people go both ways, but they are using to stick to their facts and beliefs about abortion. I believe that it is fair to say that there will never be an agreement for abortion in the future ahead. Another example is pet cloning, the cloning of an animal. Some people accuse pet cloning supporters of encouraging soon to be pet cloning customers to deceptively expect that their new pets will be indistinguishable from their old pets. Protectors of pet cloning argue that pet cloning does not contribute to pet homelessness of the animals. The animals involved in the pet cloning are treated compassionately, and it makes people happy and there is a request for it. Pet cloning contributes to scientific, veterinary, and medical understanding, and it will support efforts to preserve in danger of extinction companions of the cat and dog species. I realized how things change so often happens as quickly and as unexpectedly as it does. The transition through middle school and high school has changed me thoroughly. I ve learned that high school has made me smarter for who to trust and judge people more than I usually do. High school gave me more options, viewpoints, and ideas. I mature in almost every way, and learn more about myself for what I m good at. There will be hard times but eventually get through them. It started when I was a freshman in high school. During my sophomore year, my grades drop. It was a disaster. I felt frustrated and stressed. I had to study like I have never studied before. I have never improved ever since; in fact I did worst during my junior year. I didn t care about the bad scores I got on my quizzes/tests. Overall, my worst gpa was 2.5. My parents even lost hopes for me. I was always compared to with others on how I should learn better from them. Getting lectured by my parents was the one thing I hated about. They would always say, Do well in school or else you can t graduate. Be like your sister, who studies hard. That s when I started talking back at them; I said, Don t tell me what to do. I do not perform well on tests. I can be smart and understand the content, but it doesn t show on the test. Religion was more important than politics in the failure of King and Parliament to reach a settlement. 1646 1649 , Assess the validity of this statement. In January 1649, King Charles I was executed after being charged with high treason due to political and religious reasons, some of which contributed to his refusal in accepting the peace settlements given to him by Parliament. Charles refusal to compromise was supported by the division that had emerged within Parliament on how to fight the civil war between the Political Presbyterians and Political Independents. The main factors of the failure to reach a settlement were religion, politics, Charles intransigence, the New Model Army and the emergence of radical ideas; all of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still Ireton spoke for the grandees which did include Cromwell and insisted that the franchise should be restricted to those with a permanent fixed interest in the kingdom as Seel 2 says, and that the vote should go to those who possessed property or there would otherwise be a disturbance to a good constitution of the kingdom . This was seen as important because the views of the religious radicals made settlements more difficult and furthermore increased the tension of division among those in the army and in parliament. The politicisation of the New Model Army also played a significant role in the failure to reach a settlement in the years 1646 to 1649 between Charles and Parliament. What made the army politicised was the concerns of their wages of £3 million in arrears and the possibility of being faced with the charges of committing offences from the First Civil War, as Parliament had not passed an indemnity act. The army presented Charles with the Heads of The Proposals in 1647, which links back to religious division in parliament, , under Cromwell and Ireton s influence, putting forward more stricter terms such as religious toleration was to be more effective to a wider degree and that the army was to be controlled by parliament for only ten years instead of twenty, making the army seem like a ... The purpose of software and software based systems testing is to help the development organization build quality into the software and system during the life cycle processes and to validate that the quality was achieved. The test process determines whether the products of a given life cycle activity conform to the requirements of that activity, and whether the product satisfies its intended use and user needs. This determination can include inspection, demonstration, analysis, and testing of software and software based system products. Test activities are performed in parallel with software and system development, not just at the conclusion of the development effort. IEEE 829 supports all software life cycle processes, including acquisition, supply, development, operation, and maintenance. This standard is compatible with all life cycle models. Not all life cycle models use all of the life cycle processes listed in this standard. Despite a 43% reduction in maternal deaths since 1990, there are still a large number of women who die during childbirth from preventable causes such as hemorrhaging (United Nations, 2015, p. 38). Blindness is not something to envy and is no less than a handicap, but it s an easy out from the truth of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Essay about On Delacroix and Courbet On Delacroix and Courbet The period surrounding 1781 to 1855 in France s history is united by social and political change, an evolution of ideological struggles towards the best possible political struggle amongst anchoring human faults. The life of the artist too underwent change and struggled with the hierarchy that existed to validate artistic triumph. Changes are apparent amongst a broad spectrum, including David, Ingres, history paintings and caricatures. Artists that demonstratively epitomize the shifts, overwhelmingly united by a shift from acceptance to defiance, are Eugene Delacroix (1789 1863) and Gustave Courbet (1819 1877). Artistic and cultural differences that developed are transparent through understanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Salon and its competitions dictated the motives of the artist. Delacroix s first winning painting was Dante and Virgil in Hell (1822). This painting was indeed a success: the French believed themselves to be a modern embodiment of the Classics, and Dante and Virgil reinforced this well enough. This painting, after the Divine Comedy, also embeds Delacroix in the literary movement. This movement was vital to the overall organization of history painting, as a sharp literary vocabulary of the painter was admired if not necessary. Delacroix has a fondness for Dante and Shakespeare, two other great painters of human anguish. Delacroix concerned himself with grand, tortured ideas. The way of Delacroix is a distinct, unique flair. Although Delacroix was the youngest artist with works in the Louvre, his antagonistic paintings would begin to receive more demanding criticism. Gros described one of his works as the massacre of the painting. He depicted many scenes on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Activision Pre merger: Activision was a leading developer and publisher of video game software for consoles. Its top titles include Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, and Call of Duty, all of which have multiple games in their series. The company itself was moderately vertically integrated, with ownership of some development, publishing, and distribution activities. Its strengths lie in its growth strategies; partnerships allowed the firm to exclusive rights to certain brands. Other strengths include leading game titles for multiple platforms, hit sequels that are less capital intensive to develop, a stringent green light process for quality control, ability for online game play, and divisions in over a dozen countries. Weaknesses include lack of existence in foreign markets, lack of PC software development techniques, and the fact that licensed content is vulnerable to competition. The opportunities available are sequels to already established titles, growth in industry, and future partnerships based on their good reputation with previous alliances. Threats include competition from other software developers like THQ and Take Two, the cyclical nature of releases, and the reliance on game consoles for use of software. Blizzard Pre Merger: Strengths for the Company include top performing titles manufactured for use on computers, reoccurring revenues based on subscriptions, and a presence in the hard to penetrate Asian market. ...
