question religion, friendships, and fate. J. D. Salinger saw this as a potential pitfall for teens; therefore,

This passage from the text could be interpreted a variety of different ways. Although the entire novel
is written in a mostly satirical tone, Heller uses very sarcastic language in these few lines as he has
Yossarian describe himself as untouchable , when he clearly is not, as he is both in the hospital
multiple times in the novel and also in a war that he desperately wants to get out of. Also, the
description of him as both real and fake characters and historical figures, stands out mainly due to the
fact that most of these characters were considered to be outsiders that were forever trapped or doomed
in their novels and eras of existence. Heller relies extremely heavily on allusions and symbolism in
this quote to get his point across. Almost every single character in this passage is meant to symbolize a
specific state of mind (and perhaps foreshadow) that Yossarian has throughout the novel.
One example of this symbolism is in Yossarian comparing himself to Tarzan, a jungle boy who never
fit in, making this allusion clearly about Yossarians paranoia about everyone hating him for being

Sar. The goat keepers were released by the SEALs and warned the members of the Taliban that there
are Americans on the mountain. The Taliban prepared for battle and found Marcus and his team. The
battle lasted for about two hours and during that time all the SEALs except Marcus died, hence The

My three searches in this autobiography are when Marcus searches for an answer pertaining to the

Mary Maloney ends up committing a serious crime by murdering her husband who is a detective.
Mary Maloney is a conniving criminal aware of and responsible for her lawless action due to her
being Malice. Mary s quick thinking, her actions after the crime, and her giggling proves to show her
being guilty.
To begin with, Mary may be malice, but do to her quick thinking she is a loving housewife who cares
for her husband. When her husband (Patrick) arrives home from work, Patrick gives Mary information
that he is leaving. This shocks Mary, but still manages to round up dinner for them. She grabs the first
object she could find which was lamb. On her way back to the kitchen with the big frozen leg of lamb,
Patrick, who had his back turned toward Mary said he was going out and that he didn t want her to
make anything. At this point, Mary walked up behind him and without any pause, swung the big
frozen leg of lamb in the air and brought it down hard on the back of his head. After Patrick had fallen
onto the floor, Mary had many questions, but everything became clear to her. She carried the meat into
the kitchen, placed it in a pan, turned the oven on high, shoved it inside (Dahl). Mary then hurries to
the store to buy vegetables for dinner. On her way back she convinced herself to act normal because
nothing was wrong. And if, She happened to find anything unusual, or tragic, or terrible, then naturally
