Why I Want to Be a Civil Engineer
While relaxing comfortably after a day of school by playing chess with my brother, my father
asked me to accompany him to see a new client. The client told my father that he wanted a new
addition to his home since his two sons wanted to have separate rooms. I stood there earnestly
listening while my father explained to him how he was going to accomplish that and even
sketched out how the house would look afterward. The client was impressed and told my father
that he should start immediately with the project. At home, my father asked me whether I wanted
to see him at work on his new project and after agreeing enthusiastically, he got right to work
teaching me his approach for the design he would present to the architect. I will always remember
the moment when I finally saw the addition finished that my father and I had worked on. It was a
remarkable feeling because I saw a concept that was on paper come to life. Since middle school, I
have been focused on going to a collegethat will successfully prepare me for a career in engineering
. I have known that I wanted to pursue engineering ever since the moment my father introduced me
to the world of architecture and engineering. Since he is a home improvement contractor, he was
able to teach me about blueprints of previous homes that he had renovated. My father helped me
comprehend the various pages of blueprints and later allowed me to help him out in designing a
new addition for a client. But before I came to middle school,

Red Wheelbarrow
The Red Wheelbarrow is a poem written by William Carlos Williams in 1921, and it first
appeared in Williams collection of poetry entitled Spring and All which was published in 1923.
One of the most famous poems of the twentieth century, The Red Wheelbarrow is an illustrative
poem. This poem is composed of one sentence that is broken up into four stanzas of two lines
each. Williams has broken down this sentence to a basic level in an attempt to paint a picture of a
common image. With unusual stanza breaks and attention to language, Williams has turned an
ordinary sentence into a spectacular poem. The speaker of this poem is a farmer, but more
specifically a poultry farmer because he is talking about white chickens (7 8) and a wheelbarrow ...

Female Oppression in Jane Eyre Essay
Throughout Jane Eyre Charlotte BrontГ« uses the character Jane as a tool to comment on the
oppression that women were forced to endure at the time. Jane can be seen as representative of
the women who suffered from repression during the Victorian period, a time when patriarchy was
commonplace. BrontГ« herself was affected by the time period, because according to Wolfe, she
was deprived experience and intercourse and travel. (70) Thus Jane offers a unique perspective as
a woman who is both keenly aware of her position and yet trapped by it despite repeated attempts to
elevate herself and escape the burden placed on by her different suitors. Although superficially it
seems that Jane wants to break away from the relationships that further... Show more content on

Even in her state of anger she cannot help but once again be the restrained and subdued one in
their relationship. Despite all of the happiness she has found with Rochester she still cannot
bring herself to stay in a relationship in which she sacrifices part of herself, because she doesn t
know how to reconcile her need feel like she belongs and is taken care of while at the same time
remaining uncorrupted. Over the course of the novel it becomes clear that Jane is two separate
people one practical and honest, the other simply a lonely girl looking for a place to belong. The
question becomes how she will resolve the tension between each of these Jane s who seem to be
at odds with one another. This divergence is represented by her struggle to leave Thornfield, and
when making that choice we see a distinct conflict between her conscious and passion. She refers
to her conscience as a tyrant taunting passion and threatening it with agony. (335) Moreover, Jane
also says that it has an arm of iron which alludes to its strength and foreshadows which of the two
will eventually win. (335) Once she realizes what she needs to do she explains the reasoning
mechanically using words that are plain and free from emotion such as, law, and principles as

Essay On The Autobiography Of Malcolm X
The Autobiography of Malcolm X written by Malcolm X and Alex Haley is exactly what it sounds
like; the story of Malcolm s life.
The novel details Malcolm s early life in a racially discriminatory America. It expands on
Malcolm s difficulty childhood dealing with the death of his father and constant threats from the
KKK. Malcolm explains how he had to become a hustler to survive and finds himself in the
Nation of Islam. The Muslim community ultimately leads to his demise when he is shot down by
a black Muslim at one of his speeches. The tone of the book is full of passion and anger.
One of the themes in the autobiography is that views and people change. Malcolm changed his
identity multiple times throughout the book, he was Malcolm Little, Detroit Red, Satan, Malcolm
X, and he later on even developed a Muslim name. Not only that, Malcolm frequently changed his
philosophies in racism. At first he believed whites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conk was a hairstyle worn by blacks to straighten the hair and make it appear more like a
white persons. This represents the conformity to the racist white society. Malcolm had to change
an aspect of himself to receive more respect. In addition, this shows Malcolm s hatred of his
blackness and his self suppression. By wearing this hairstyle he was trying to be something other
than himself. He didn t want to adorn black features and wished to be more like a white man and
have the same privileges. Another symbol in the book was Malcolm changing his last name from
Little to X. Little was his slave name and by changing it, he is declaring his freedom and deciding
his own path. Furthermore, Malcolm being release from prison and purchasing new items expresses
his change of lifestyle. Him leaving prison represents him leaving a different mindset behind and
entering a new one. The purchase of the new items shows his commitment to becoming a changed
man and not going back to his criminal

Eastern Europe Essay
Eastern Europe s geography allowed and encouraged many diverse people to easily conquer its
land. The history of Eastern Europe has been marked by migration, foreign conquest, war and
revolution. The region is home to a mix of diverse people who have often battled with each other
and many foreigners
As a buffer and crossroads, Eastern Europe reaches from Central Europe to Russia. Also, it reaches
from the Baltic Sea and through the Balkan Peninsula. Much of the region lies on the European
plain . Its main rivers, the Danube and the Vistula allowed goods and cultural influences to travel
along river routes. This led to the Balkans in the south feeling the impact of the Byzantine empire
and the Muslim Ottoman empire. Because of the ease of its accessibility, Eastern Europe was the
perfect target for neighboring groups of people, whether they were peaceful or looking to take over.

Richard III and the Stability of England Essay
Richard III and the Stability of England
Richard became King of England on July the sixth 1483 after the heir to the throne was proclaimed
illegitimate. Whether this claim was true or not is questionable. During Richards reign, the stability
of England has been debated. Was he the ruler England needed to end the Wars of the Rosesand
bring stability back to the English people? Or did he cause England to be restless and unsettled? Is
it a good thing that Henry Tudor defeated him in the Battle of Bosworth? This essay will look at
the different points, which, under the reign of Richard III made the country stable or unstable.

Richard had strong foreign policies, which helped to make England stable. He made good
alliances with France by building on previous victories and signing a three year truce. This made
England stable because there was less worry of having to watch the Scots and make sure they do
not start a fight. This made the people of England feel safer because they did not agree with
fighting because of all the people who died.
Another factor making England stable and strong under Richards reign was his support.
Although it has been said that he was only popular in the North and that the South disliked him
this can be proved somewhat untrue because it was the people of London who voted for him to
be king. This proved that he had won the support of most of Britain, this was probably because
people knew that he had been a loyal supporter of his brother during his reign and most people had
liked Edward IV.
Buckingham s rebellion was dealt with effectively and discreetly to prevent publicity. If the
rebellion had been made a bid deal of people might have started to doubt the capability of their ruler.
Another reason why England was seen as stable during Richards s reign was that he managed to
refrain from having any civil war during his time on throne. This was helpful because civil war
caused death and if there had been the country would have been seen as unstable. England

The Southern Stereotype Essay
Long Live Southern Stereotypes
Ever since Scarlett O Hara struggled to find love and Andy Taylor was elected Mayberry s Sheriff,
filmmakers and television producers have yet to lose any fondness for stereotyping the southern
culture. There are many who despise any form of labeling or stereotyping within the media, fearing
false characterizations or inaccurate portrayals of southern customs, traditions, and people.
Exposure to southern stereotypes through media is an appealing element in the American lifestyle
that can render endearing impressions, contribute genuine metaphors, and provide viewers with a
unique and fascinating (whether positive or negative) glimpse toward a regional culture.
The mass media, or media at large, would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are pointed descriptions, but they are true and the American culture loves (and loves to hate)
the southern stereotype and it is here to stay.
Now what about those who may have that southern stereotypical drawl? Southern accents do not
make one stupid; being stupid does. Southerners should be proud of the southern accent.
However, the media has managed to cause dismay among many southerners who possess the
engaging and attractive drawl. Should a visitor traveling to North Dakota, view a Fargo native as
stupid or ignorant because of the distinct accent heard there? Should a North Dakota resident
ridicule a person from the Bronx because of the peculiar accent heard there? Somehow people are
ashamed of their unique speech patterns rather than being proud of a colloquial accent. The
southern stereotype will be here for a long time to come, so love it and embrace it.
According to Jack G. Shaheen in his essay titled, The Media s Image of Arabs, Hollywood
producers must have instant kits that contain sunglasses, Arab clothing, tents, and mosques in order
to provide a snapshot of Hollywood s stereotypical Arab (99). Undoubtedly, the same holds true
when depicting the typical southern example. Whether one

For overcoming the problem related to PDS one should give emphasis to universal public
distribution system as in other state of India such as Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu
instead of targeted public distribution system (TPDS). The reason is, in TPDS one has to target
the beneficiaries to find out who deserves BPL category and who deserves APL category and it
is in the process of targeting where the biasness and corruption starts. But when the distribution
system becomes universal means everyone is eligible corruption declines because it reduces the
power of authorities to do corruption through colluding and divergence and leakage of foodgrains
also decline manifold. Moreover, rich will be automatically excluded because he do not have
enough times to come to the ration shop, stand in line and wait for his turn to purchase the grain
but real poor can wait for its turn.
Since major portion of population in the region is rural and is dependent on agriculture in one way
or the other and when drought occurs their livelihood is severely hampered. Thus there must be
some substitute work so that the people can earn their livelihood. As far as industrialisation is
considered this region is the most poor though it is very rich in resource availability. In comparison

Jake And Babbit
During the early 20th century, the expansion of the immigrant population and wealthy class
represented the changes occurring in America. Through Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis and Hester
Street, directed by Joan Micklin Silver, we absorb personal stories of both sides. Babbitt epitomizes
the lifestyle of the wealthy through his desire for material things and his discontent with his life.
Jake represents the immigrant population, caring more about finding his identity as an American
than big houses and fancy cars. Jake and Babbitt portray authentic Americanism, whiteness, and
masculinity through their variance of struggles and accomplishments. While Jake and Babbitt both

In Hester Street, Jake heavily depended on Mamie economically to get by. Before his wife and
son moved to America, he lived with Mamie in order to save money. However, when he learns of
their plans to immigrate, he realizes that not only will he need to end his affair, but he will also
need to rent his own apartment and pay for the associated costs himself. Unfortunately, he doesn
t have enough money to afford this, so he needs to borrow $25 from Mamie. During this time
period, the man was usually the only one in the family who worked and was supposed to treat
and pay for the women. Therefore, it is almost shameful that Jake has to rely on Mamie for
money, essentially demonstrating that he has failed as a man to provide a decent living for
himself and those he cares about. Similarly, Babbitt s affair results from his failure, but in his
case, it s his failure to find happiness in his life. While Babbitt had faced turmoil for quite some
time, once Paul gets thrown in jail, he begins flirting with younger women and has an affair. He
felt sick and tired of his wife and thought that mixing things up might bring him more pleasure.
However, when he notices the pain he s brought upon his wife and learns that she falls ill with
appendicitis, he regrets his decisions and wants to care for her again. Unlike Jake, who continues
to mistreat his wife and eventually divorces her, Babbitt recognizes his mistakes and takes action
to repair the damage. The failures of Jake and Babbitt to be proper men led them to breaking their
loyalty to their wives, but differing end results, particularly Babbitt s ability to save his marriage,
proves that Babbitt is more of man than

and covered in similar industries if we want to use the same WACC. 9. The hurdle rate is usually
used to classify reasonable investments and a single rate could lead to wrong decisions. Risky
investments may appear more profitable as they actually are and less risky projects may appear
less reasonable and profitable. 10. This could increase the operating risk and so affect the profit
in a negative way. It only could be favorable if all projects would have the same beta factor. 11.

internally homogeneous in terms of risk. 12. Lodging division= 9.61%

As the cards spread throughout Italy, they were developed through the changing, simplification
and even enhancements of the players. The original playing cards were augmented decks, or
decks with a fifth suit serving as trumps. The original suits were swords, staves, coins, cups and
sticks. The Italians simplified this by removing the sticks, while the Spanish changed the staves
into clubs (later in 1750, the French would create the standard 52 card deck that was composed
of the suits: spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds.) Eventually an entirely new deck of cards had

Social Insanity In Medieval Europe
Insanity in medieval Europe can be classified according to social and religious violations. Insane
was one of the worst labels a man could get during the time of knights. By being labeled a
madman, a respected man could become lower than trash. Whether labeled insane due to
strangeness or for religious beliefs that differed from the norm, the fact remains that these
individuals were all outcasts from society.
Social Insanity
Definition
Insanity, in medieval Europe in the context of social violations, is the condition in which a man
or woman acts in a manner deemed outrageous or illogical by the common man. By being labeled
insane, a person would be lowered to the equivalent status level of an unreliable drunk. Thus
businesses could be crushed and lives ruined if your actions were considered as too strange by the
public.
Treatment
The so called cure of the time for social insanity was isolation, a process by which the potential
lunatic is locked up on their own until the patient either shows improvement or dies. When it came
to curing the patient, isolation sometimes worked, but it depended on the degree of infliction. In
some cases, a patient who wasn t actually insane was driven insane by the solitude instead of being
cured by it. Legally, the patient s land would typically be given to ... Show more content on

however, if they did not, it was believed something had happened to their soul. (Tyrell 1) At least,

Traditional Chinese medicine should not be used widely for the following reasons: the
prescription and diagnoses are not accurate, it contains potential toxins, and it is not effective in
some diseases. To begin with, traditional Chinese medicine is inaccurate with its amounts in
prescription and less stringent in the uses for treating patients, which causes some serious effects.
First, the use of herbal medicine in TCM as dietary supplements are not stringent enough to be

Relationship Between Medical Service Consumption And...
2Literature Review 2.1 Insurance demand
Economists have long explored the relationship between medical service consumption and health
insurance demand, and found that they are dependent upon each other (DING Jihong, ZHU
Minglai, 2007). The relationship between the demand of health insurance and the demand of health
care of a nation has a strong relationship between, the reason lies behind the fact that health
insurance is not bought by a customer in order to obtain a good, but as a mean of been able to
pay health related services in the future (Feldstein, 1973). Having health insurance also affects
the demand of health care, specifically when looking at people that could use health care services
based on the fact that they re assured and use the health care as a prepaid service. Since health
insurance twists the real price that people pay to utilize health care, there is a great possibility for
a moral hazard (Arrow, 1963; Manning et al., 1987).
Mark V. Pauly (2007) observed that health insurance often induces moral hazard which makes it
harder for companies or the government to estimate the real coverage that a population would
require. Thus, this problems weakens the entrance to the market not only of governmental
institutions that would like to take over the health insurance, but also companies that would try to
explore the insurance market of a region. John A. Nyman s (2003), presents a different point of
view about how moral hazard affects the consumption of

Malala Yousafzai: Fighting For Education
The right to education is one important fundamental that everyone should have the ability to have,
but most times that right is denied. Where I live; in a small town, everyone that I know goes to

why people, states or countries may not take education seriously. Pakistan is one country that has the
most restrictions on education towards women. Malala Yousafazi is a young girl activist that stood

There are many countries where culture or religion can sometimes deny certain peoples right to

Superb Motivation. Literature Possesses The Capability
Superb Motivation Literature possesses the capability to vastly influence the world, and those who
find a way to impact literature drive this powerful influence. Few people in the history of literature
publicized as many thoughts and critical views as T.S. Eliot, and by disseminating his opinions
throughout the literature world, Eliot found a way to communicate new perspectives and tastes in
literature (Worthen). Born in the fall of 1888, T.S. Eliot grew up to become one of the most
influential poets of all time as he found a unique way of communicating through literature.
Sometimes referred to as the keeper of the language or the model poet of our time, Eliot presented

Beyond the poetry he wrote, Eliot drove the world to modernist views through essays and
otherliterature. Containing stories, news, and opinions of both T.S. Eliot and others who wrote
about him, The Letters of T.S. Eliot offers an inside perspective on Eliot s life (Eliot and
Haffenden). Volume 1 of the revised edition of the letters consists of Patrick Query describing
how T.S. Eliot felt so much passion for culture and how it must improve (Letters, Volume 1). In
the volume, the writer states Eliot started a movement to modernize literature all on his own.
While society generally acted apathetically towards life, Eliot demonstrated an intense passion
for making the world a better place, and he strove for a culture in which people actually inserted
energy and passion into life (Poetry Foundation). Also, in John Worthen s biography of T.S. Eliot,
Worthen expresses a belief Eliot focused the entire masterpiece of Four Quartets on illustrating to
his audience the need for people to focus more on the beauty of life, despite painful times.
(Worthen). After addressing the aspects of society needing improvement, Eliot wrote several
poems on each of these aspects which demonstrated the beauty of his opinion and described? a

Sexual Assault College Campus
What is sexual assault? According to the United States Department of Justice it is any type of
sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient.
Many teens enter college expecting a different atmosphere from what they had in high school, but
in reality they may have more to worry about than they originally thought. Although the number of
cases of sexual assault on college campuses has decreased since 1993 it is still a relevant topic. 5%
of women, every year, on college campuses experience rape or attempted rape as reported by One

The American Foundation For The Blind
Reading is done by a good majority of everyone, most every day. How many words does a person
read in one day? That answer differs person to person. One could be a publisher, book critic,
reading for a living; or one could be a plumber or carpenter and still do some instructional reading,
but much less than the aforementioned occupations. Readingis an essential skill in our daily lives.
Blind individuals have Braille script to read, and there also are those that also have technology
able read aloud to them. Regardless of how reading is done, it is used by everyone in many
ways. There are quite a few factors that can affect how well a person can read. The American
Foundation for the Blind says contrast is one of the most critical factors in enhancing visual
functioning, for printed materials as well as in environmental design (Tips). Contrast being text

Katherine Paterson, there is a young girl named Lyddie who has to work to pay off her father s

Self harm may be used to manage pain from an earlier life experience over which the person had
no control such as physical or emotional abuse. While not every client will use self harming
behaviors to deal with emotional pain, I feel that the knowledge of these behaviors will be
important in the field of helper that I am aspiring to work in. Self harm can also be called self
injury, self inflicted violence, or self injurious behaviors. These names refer to a spectrum of
behaviors where injuries are self inflicted. Self mutilation can also be used to describe these
behaviors but this term can be offensive. In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders self harm is a symptom of borderline personality disorder only and does not have a
diagnostic criteria. Not everyone who self harms suffers from a recognized form of mental
disorder, but many people who have been diagnosed have a higher risk of self harming. Whether I

Goodyear Essay
1.How would you characterize the competitive environment in the tire industry in 1991? The tire
industry is divided into two end use markets: First is the original equipment tire market (OEM) in
which tires are sold directly to the automobile or truck manufacturers. This market represents 25 to
30 percent of the tire unit production volume each year. Goodyear is the market share leader in this
segment and captures 38 percent (1991). Within this segment, price is highly inelastic due to the
fact that car and truck manufacturers can easily switch to a competitor brand since the price
competition in this segment is fierce in this market The second is the replacement tire market. This
segment of the market accounts for 70 to 75... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

beyond company owned and franchised Goodyear tire retailers as a matter of channel policy?
Why? It is important to consider that very few replacement buyers are knowledgeable about tires
and many end up choosing a tire based on price while others follow the recommendation of their
local dealer. Consumers are becoming more price conscious which is an important factor to
consider when deciding if it is time to broaden distribution beyond company owned and franchised
Goodyear tire retailers as a matter of channel policy. Most replacement tire customers do not have a
preference, which makes it easy for tire salespeople to switch customers to private label brands that
deliver higher profit margins therefore, inability to penetrate that market segment would be a
strategic error. 4.What are the strategic implications of broadened distribution of Goodyear brand
passenger tires through Sears Auto Centers? Broadening distribution through Sears Auto would be

Decriminalizing Prostitution
Prostitution, commonly referred to as the world s oldest profession, is a divisive issue due to the
religious nature of the argument. Few arguments exist against the decriminalization of prostitutes
themselves that are not rooted in personal belief and morality. The Bible rejects prostitution, so the
masses do as well. But lack of religious bias is of utmost importance when considering public
policy in a nation with freedom of religion; therefore, the biggest factors to consider regarding
prostitutionpolicy are how it will affect the physical health, social progress, and prevalence of
human traffickingin the nation. Prostitution will continue to exist as it always had regardless of its
legal status. It is the responsibility of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While proponents of prostitution legalization claim it promotes women s independence and
autonomy, opponents argue that it exploits and objectifies women. In terms of putting ideology
into practice, criminalization fails. The neoconservative ideology behind criminalization implies
that women are unfit to make their own decisions about their sexuality. Under criminalization in the
United States, females are arrested at much higher rates than males, despite the fact that when
including johns, pimps, and brothel owners, there are probably more men involved in the practice
(McKim 1). Additionally, every state (except some parts of Nevada) in the U.S. criminalizes
women who sell sex, but only half of those states also have laws criminalizing men who buy sex
(Mathieson 374). This discriminatory enforcement of prostitution laws undermines the gender
equality this country is trying to achieve. The legalization and regulation of prostitution argues that
the best way to promote women s autonomy is by allowing them to take control of their own bodies
and choose their own profession. Due to the imbalance between men and women within the sex
trade, legalization advocates support allowing the exchange of sexual services for money between
consenting adults. It is a victimless crime; however the question remains whether it perpetuates a
culture of objectification of women.

Adults less than 65 years of age from low or moderate income families comprise the majority of

and Anna Akbari, a professor at New York University. When looked at briefly, Sullivan and Akbari

What Sullivan repeatedly revolves around is this whole idea of technology creating our own
world, that of which we have complete control. This ability to control our own world becomes
narcissistic and eliminates the serendipity of life, or the happy accidents that you could run into.
With having control of your own world through technology, everything is specifically tailored to
you. The music you listen to is completely to your likes, the things you read all agree with your
personal views thus creating less challenging and thought provoking experiences, and the people
you meet aren t by chance, but chosen by a friend request or because you decide to take out the ear
buds and talk. The happy chances of hearing something new, learning something new, and meeting
someone completely different from you, according to Sullivan, are drastically affected by our
technology. We end up living in this virtual reality instead of the real worldand we deprive
ourselves of the actual experience of really living and being human. By contrast, Akbari says, We

The title Miss Fozzard finds her feet lets the audience guess at what might happen in the monologue
. The use of the pun finds her feet tells us two things about the story she is going to tell. Firstly,
that Miss Fozzard has to find a new chiropodist to look after her feet when her old chiropodist Mr
Suddaby moves away. Secondly, before this monologue was written, Miss Fozzard seems to have
a fairly uneventful life, now however, she seems to have plenty of stories to tell the audience. By
the end of the monologue she seems to have an eventful and fulfilling life. So in other words she
has Found her feet in life and chiropody.
Also in the title there is humour. The name Miss Fozzard suggests humour and a character
whose traits suggest they are rather ditzy and slow to catch on which is true in Miss Fozzard s
case. For example when Bernard calls Miss Fozzard a cow she doesn t realise he is insulting her.
This type of humour is very tongue in cheek as it is used in her name. Her name is a source of
humour and she judges people by their names. She repeats her name a lot in the monologue
especially when someone she respects says it in conversation.
In the opening section, Miss Fozzard s character is built up immediately with the use of the phrase
Bit of a bombshell today which introduces the war imagery which I will later explain. Miss

The Concept Of Learning Process
3.LEARNING PROCESS APPROACH
David Korten stated the concept of learning process in 1980. According to him, the process of
learning is continuous and involved not only planners and implementers, but rural people. The goal
of this approach is to develop capabilities through developing ideas, for making decisions and
creating continual innovations. The process includes the areas of technology and organization or
even a mix of both. The learning process serves an alternative to the blueprint approach, taking into
account the particular context of the project. (Krishna et al., 1998)
The possibility of embracing error is another particular characteristic of this approach. The use of
small scale projects generates a substantive knowledge about the factors of success and the elements
to improve in any stage of the development programs. For completing this process, the individuals
in the project must document the findings and develop a structured system of learning which
would be the base for building the local capabilities. This usually explains the tendency to slowly
start the programs which use the learning process approach.
The local capabilities construction becomes the main resource for the sustainability of the project
through the development of the self reliance. The projects of development usually include an
assisted process for generating this condition of self reliance. Individuals in rural communities
should understand that they are responsible for their resources and

What Is The Similarities Between The Hapolis And Hagia Sophia
I decided to compare the Pantheon and Hagia Sophia. The Pantheon is in Rome, Italy and the Hagia
Sophia is located in Istanbul, Turkey previously Constantinople. I chose these structures because the
construction of domes fascinates me. How the domes were constructed is explained in the text, yet
the concept still baffles me how people were actually able to build domes with the technology
present then and that the domes did not collapse on themselves.
The primary similarity between the two works are the massive domes topping them. The second
similarity is that both the Pantheon and the Hagia Sophia served as a place of worship. The
Pantheon was dedicated to all the Roman gods, then was later donated to the Pope and used as a
church. The Hagia Sophia was originally a church commissioned by the Byzantine emperor,

Advantage Of European Colonization
European Colonization
Historians often question why Europe had such an advantage over the three existing worlds during
the 16th and 17th century. Europe managed to take over the New World even though they were
greatly out numbered by the native people due to the fact that Europeans were at both a material
and cultural advantage. Europeans took command over the New World because their technology
was superior to that of the Native people, they were more organized politically speaking, and they
had a capitalist attitude toward the New World.
Around 13,000 years ago there was a piece of frozen ice that stretched between Russia and
Alaska, known as the Bering Strait Land Bridge. Between 12,000 and 5,000 years ago Asians
migrated across the Bering Strait and down the west coast, following herds of animals and
spreading across the Americas. This land bridge was below sea level and became covered by water
due to the fact that the sea level rose, sealing off the people living in the Americas from the rest of
the world.

Couple Therapy
Gender differences in couples work
Couple therapy often refers to the common negative process, of pursuer and withdrawer, in order to
understand the relational dance. This is the process where one partner purses the other through
emotional demands, criticism, and complaints, while the other retreats through withdrawal,
defensiveness, and passive interaction (Christensen, Heavey,1990). Many theorists have identified a
gender linkage with this pattern, suggesting women present as the demanding, pursuer, while men
assume the role of the distant, withdrawer (Christensen, Heavey,1990; Mornells, 1979). There is a

Summary Of Early Childhood Observation
The child s engagement in imaginative or fantasy play is typically of a preschooler s functioning
level. Preschoolers delight in fantasy and play and engage their newly found cognitive abilities to

Sexual Revolution In Bob And Carol And Alice
With the film Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice dealing with sexual exploration and ultimately the
potential of an orgy, looking at the sexual revolution became especially important. The sexual
revolution redefined exploring one s sexuality, and encouraged a new way to look at our bodies
and sex. One of the greatest influences leading to the sexual revolution was the feminist movement,
which redefined women s roles in society. Women were pushing for control over their bodies, and
presented a newfound attitude of wanting sex for enjoyment rather than just to procreate.
Furthermore, with the Pill becoming approved for contraceptive use in the 1960s, women could
now have sex without the fear of getting pregnant. This caused fear for men as now having

The Importance Of Forest Depletion In Nepal
Forest Area: 33.7% 25.4% (1990 2015). The forest area has decreased due to increased
deforestation and a risk of forest fires in Nepal.
Finland has supported Nepal s forestry initiatives since the 80s, and it includes large scale
preparation, plantation and implementation of Forestry Sector Master Plan (1988 2011), support to
Community Forestry and Leasehold Forestry Programs, Scientific Forest Management initiatives,
National Forest Resource Inventories and others.
Physiologically, the country is divided into five regions, according to altitude (the Terai, the
Siwalik, the Middle Mountains, the High Mountains and the High Himal). Of the total land
area, forests cover 4.27 million ha (29.0 percent) and shrub covers 1.56 million ha (10.6 percent)
(DFRS 1999). The annual rate of forest depletion in the Terai was 1.3 percent from 1978/79 to
1990/91. In the hilly area, forest areas have declined at an annual rate of 2.3 percent from 1978
/79 to 1994. In the entire country, from 1978 79 to 1994, the forest area has decreased at an
annual rate of 1.7%. This trend indicates the ongoing pressure on forest resources, especially in the
Terai. The graph above shows the regional division of the types of natural/ manmade vegetation in

The Komsomol, The Communist Union Of Youth
The nature of the universe is that every society is greatly under the effect of politics, especially
during the revolution time in which Solzhenitsyn called those young people who participated as the
new generation . The truths behind those ideological lies of The Komsomol, the Communist Union
of Youth, are revealed implicitly through the story of Anatoly Pavlovich Vozdvizhensky, an
engineer and a professor, and Lyoshka Konoplyov, one of his least competent working class
student in the Strength of Materials course but later join the GPU on orders of the Komsomol.
First of all, Vozdvizhensky realized the problem of the authorities s policy of mass education that

This is carefully described in every major plot of the story. Even though Vozdvizhensky did not
want to give Konoplyov a pass while he knew nothing about the class, he still had to let Konoplyov
pass because he thought: if the authorities have such a strict policy and are fully aware of the
absurdities it creates, then why should I care more than they do? Moreover, when talking to his
daughter Lyolka about her school life, despite the fact that she disgusted the Komsomol, he tried to
persuade himself and his daughter to join the Komsomol to avoid any risks and to get accepted to
the institution she wanted by suggesting: this new generation of young people really does have
something, some truth that we can t fully understand. They certainly must have something . On the
other hand, the nature of human is best depicted after Vozdvizhensky got arrested. His interrogator
was not someone else but Konoplyov, his incompetent student. Konoplyov wanted to save him by
insisting Vozdvizhensky to make up anything. However, he could not because he did not want to
dishonor his 20 years of diligent, absorbing work or dishonor himself, his very soul . At the end,
when Konoplyov asked Vozdvizhensky to supply information they need about other engineers,
Vozdvizhensky refused to do that at first. But then,

Women s Role For Women
The traditional family structure was, although headed and led by males, supplied and sustained
by females. Contributing members of society are expected to ear their keep, usually by working
in some form. The way in which women were allowed to ear their keep was in the home. The
Labor Law instituted in 1930 promised to liberate married women from the workshop and factory.
Far from liberating, it sought to ensure that women could remain in the home and fulfill the only
purpose of Christian marriage: reproduction. This regulation did not serve as protection, but merely
assigns a positive spin on the concept of limiting women s potential. Women made up a slim
percentage of those educated at the secondary level and therefore qualified for few professional
positions, they did dominate training for magisterio, elementary school teaching. This unusual
statistic evidence that there were indeed ways to seek employment, but even within there is a
reminder of the types of roles in which the women who were allowed to contribute could be placed.
For women seeking work, professional options were generally limited to becoming domestic
servants, ticket sellers or office workers, nurses, pharmacists, or teachers. Significant number of
prostitutes remained though brothels had been outlawed. The main draw to prostitution was the
high income opportunity. Women needed to gain the permission of many to begin a job, so this
covert business was a tactic in which women could circumvent

Theme of Social Hierarchy in William Shakespeare s Henry...
Theme of Social Hierarchy in William Shakespeare s Henry V, Twelfth Night and Macbeth
Henry V, Twelfth Night, and Macbeth cover the whole field of Shakespearean genres, but it is
amazing how Shakespeare displays a theme and carries it through in any kind of play he wants
to. Historic, comic, and tragic plays are about as different as you can get, yet when we take a
closer look we see many similarities among them, especially in the area of social hierarchy. In all
three of these plays, Shakespeare uses a similar theme, which he conveys and proves through his
characters. Twelfth Night s Malvolio, and Macbeths Macbeth, Henry V s Henry all hold social
status, and they spread the social scale, one a servant, one a nobleman, and one a ... Show more

Malvolio is a servant, desiring and seeking to climb the social ladder by marrying his master, a
wealthy woman in society. Malvolio is stepping far beyond his bounds as a servant, and he
doesn t see that he is out of line. To marry up a class level was unheard of, but Malvolio doesn t
even seem to think about this. He is set on winning Olivia s love from the moment he thinks
about the things he can get from it. He isn t really punished for his committal of a social taboo,
but he is demeaned and taken back down to a servant s level through the joke that Toby, Maria,
and Feste play on him. Shakespeare doesn t say that marrying up is wrong, because the marriage
of Maria and Toby is given a positive light. Shakespeare does make it very clear that it is not
proper for a servant, or anyone for that matter, to attempt to climb the social lattice, especially
through marriage.
In Macbeth, Macbeth is a Thane, a much higher social status than a slave. This is a position of
nobility, and Macbeth is content with it. His and Banquo s meeting with the Weird Sisters and the
subsequent fulfillment of part of the witches prophecies about Macbeth is what begins to
discontent Macbeth. Macbeth says, If chance may have me King, why, chance may crown me
(Macbeth I.iii.158), but it is shortly after this that Macbeth is easily drawn in by his wife s
enticement with power and

Fall Of Disco
The Rise and Fall of Disco
The birth of Disco had a huge influence on the American culture in the 1970s. It reached far
beyond music and into fashion, club culture, and film. Disco was created in Philadelphia and
New York City in the late 1960s and early 1970s, formed by people in reaction to the popularity
of rock music and the lack of progress of dance music in the late 60s. First heard in nightclubs for
many minority groups including Italians, Latinos, blacks, gays, and hippies, it was embraced by
women, as well as men, and many female entertainers came into fame because of disco music.
The enthusiastic dance moves and vivacious sound of Disco gave young people a reprieve from

was often political and radical. A publicity stunt on July 12, 1979 by the Chicago White Sox

Improving Current System Of Police Reporting
5.5 Improvement to Current Situation
According to five factors that have been proposed, we had suggested some recommendations to
improve current system of police reporting in Malaysia which is the Police Reporting System
(PRS) to ensure that the function of the PRS will definitely helped to record and transfer the report
in a better and easier way.
5.5.1 Role
As mentioned above, role is very important factor in police reporting in order to make the report,
received statement from complainant, and most important thing is to transfer the report to
another police officers. As a recommendation, police organization in Malaysia can organize or
provide a training program for police personnel on duty at the enquiry office about the use and
maintenance of the PRS so that they can write the report quickly and also they know the function
for every single menu and button of the PRS. Plus, if the PRS are breakdown, the police
personnel will know how to fix the problem. Thus, it wills not wasting time to wait for the
technical team to fix the problem and also they no need to write the report manually in POL 55
and re type it once the PRS was fixed.
Besides that, enquiry officer also are encourage to more than one language. For instance, if the
complainant who come over to lodge a report does not know to speak Bahasa Malaysia, the enquiry
officer are able to speak another language like English, Mandarin, Tamil or any language that easy
to understand by the complainant.

that the two sides can send out 1 or 2 fleets each; and the more fleets in the area. The more fish

One company (Company A) will have a higher profit if it sends out two fleets ($12 000) rather than
$10 000) if the other company (Company B) has only one fleet. If Company B sends out two fleets,
Company A will have a higher profit if it also sends out two fleets ($ 7 500 rather than $4 000). The
same thinking will affect Company B s best strategy which is to send out two fleets regardless if
company A will send out one or two. They will only have a profit of $7 500 instead of having a
profit of $10 000 if they will both choose to send out two fleets instead of one only

The Rookery is a section of Upper Blackrock Spire that, back in 2005, was notoriously easy to

dragons within the Rookery that intentionally hatch eggs as part of an event called Father Flame.
If a players group broke one egg, it was likely to break more and in ones group s panic to kill the
whelps it hatched, things would get a little chaotic and inevitably a group would break more.
The Rookery could be done with no problems at all, but it took either experience or planning. The

to cast abilities and activate skills provides a widely varied gameplay. The average amount of
buttons that is on a console controller is 14 widely restricting gameplay, and limiting players to a
more casual experience while playing their favorite games. The lore of WoW cultivated video
games as a form of art instead of the mind numbing run of the mill shooting games that were all too
familiar. With loveable characters, amazing plot arcs, and heartbreaking moments WoW showed the
world that games can be just as much an art form as any book or painting.
The rise of WoW to the top of the video gameindustry showed us that living in a virtual world is
not so different from living in the real world. one can perform many of the same tasks in life that
one can in WoW (barring the monster fighting, flying, and stuff) tasks like fishing, farming, or just
performing odd jobs for any Non Player Characters (NPC) that may need it.
World of Warcraft runs natively on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Boxed copies of the
game use a hybrid CD to install the game, eliminating the need for separate Mac and Windows
retail products.

  • 2. Why I Want to Be a Civil Engineer While relaxing comfortably after a day of school by playing chess with my brother, my father asked me to accompany him to see a new client. The client told my father that he wanted a new addition to his home since his two sons wanted to have separate rooms. I stood there earnestly listening while my father explained to him how he was going to accomplish that and even sketched out how the house would look afterward. The client was impressed and told my father that he should start immediately with the project. At home, my father asked me whether I wanted to see him at work on his new project and after agreeing enthusiastically, he got right to work teaching me his approach for the design he would present to the architect. I will always remember the moment when I finally saw the addition finished that my father and I had worked on. It was a remarkable feeling because I saw a concept that was on paper come to life. Since middle school, I have been focused on going to a collegethat will successfully prepare me for a career in engineering . I have known that I wanted to pursue engineering ever since the moment my father introduced me to the world of architecture and engineering. Since he is a home improvement contractor, he was able to teach me about blueprints of previous homes that he had renovated. My father helped me comprehend the various pages of blueprints and later allowed me to help him out in designing a new addition for a client. But before I came to middle school, ... • 3. Red Wheelbarrow The Red Wheelbarrow is a poem written by William Carlos Williams in 1921, and it first appeared in Williams collection of poetry entitled Spring and All which was published in 1923. One of the most famous poems of the twentieth century, The Red Wheelbarrow is an illustrative poem. This poem is composed of one sentence that is broken up into four stanzas of two lines each. Williams has broken down this sentence to a basic level in an attempt to paint a picture of a common image. With unusual stanza breaks and attention to language, Williams has turned an ordinary sentence into a spectacular poem. The speaker of this poem is a farmer, but more specifically a poultry farmer because he is talking about white chickens (7 8) and a wheelbarrow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Female Oppression in Jane Eyre Essay Throughout Jane Eyre Charlotte BrontГ« uses the character Jane as a tool to comment on the oppression that women were forced to endure at the time. Jane can be seen as representative of the women who suffered from repression during the Victorian period, a time when patriarchy was commonplace. BrontГ« herself was affected by the time period, because according to Wolfe, she was deprived experience and intercourse and travel. (70) Thus Jane offers a unique perspective as a woman who is both keenly aware of her position and yet trapped by it despite repeated attempts to elevate herself and escape the burden placed on by her different suitors. Although superficially it seems that Jane wants to break away from the relationships that further... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even in her state of anger she cannot help but once again be the restrained and subdued one in their relationship. Despite all of the happiness she has found with Rochester she still cannot bring herself to stay in a relationship in which she sacrifices part of herself, because she doesn t know how to reconcile her need feel like she belongs and is taken care of while at the same time remaining uncorrupted. Over the course of the novel it becomes clear that Jane is two separate people one practical and honest, the other simply a lonely girl looking for a place to belong. The question becomes how she will resolve the tension between each of these Jane s who seem to be at odds with one another. This divergence is represented by her struggle to leave Thornfield, and when making that choice we see a distinct conflict between her conscious and passion. She refers to her conscience as a tyrant taunting passion and threatening it with agony. (335) Moreover, Jane also says that it has an arm of iron which alludes to its strength and foreshadows which of the two will eventually win. (335) Once she realizes what she needs to do she explains the reasoning mechanically using words that are plain and free from emotion such as, law, and principles as ... • 5. Essay On The Autobiography Of Malcolm X The Autobiography of Malcolm X written by Malcolm X and Alex Haley is exactly what it sounds like; the story of Malcolm s life. The novel details Malcolm s early life in a racially discriminatory America. It expands on Malcolm s difficulty childhood dealing with the death of his father and constant threats from the KKK. Malcolm explains how he had to become a hustler to survive and finds himself in the Nation of Islam. The Muslim community ultimately leads to his demise when he is shot down by a black Muslim at one of his speeches. The tone of the book is full of passion and anger. One of the themes in the autobiography is that views and people change. Malcolm changed his identity multiple times throughout the book, he was Malcolm Little, Detroit Red, Satan, Malcolm X, and he later on even developed a Muslim name. Not only that, Malcolm frequently changed his philosophies in racism. At first he believed whites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conk was a hairstyle worn by blacks to straighten the hair and make it appear more like a white persons. This represents the conformity to the racist white society. Malcolm had to change an aspect of himself to receive more respect. In addition, this shows Malcolm s hatred of his blackness and his self suppression. By wearing this hairstyle he was trying to be something other than himself. He didn t want to adorn black features and wished to be more like a white man and have the same privileges. Another symbol in the book was Malcolm changing his last name from Little to X. Little was his slave name and by changing it, he is declaring his freedom and deciding his own path. Furthermore, Malcolm being release from prison and purchasing new items expresses his change of lifestyle. Him leaving prison represents him leaving a different mindset behind and entering a new one. The purchase of the new items shows his commitment to becoming a changed man and not going back to his criminal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Eastern Europe Essay Eastern Europe s geography allowed and encouraged many diverse people to easily conquer its land. The history of Eastern Europe has been marked by migration, foreign conquest, war and revolution. The region is home to a mix of diverse people who have often battled with each other and many foreigners As a buffer and crossroads, Eastern Europe reaches from Central Europe to Russia. Also, it reaches from the Baltic Sea and through the Balkan Peninsula. Much of the region lies on the European plain . Its main rivers, the Danube and the Vistula allowed goods and cultural influences to travel along river routes. This led to the Balkans in the south feeling the impact of the Byzantine empire and the Muslim Ottoman empire. Because of the ease of its accessibility, Eastern Europe was the perfect target for neighboring groups of people, whether they were peaceful or looking to take over. The first Polish king was crowned, but to survive, Poland frequently had to battle Germans, Russians, and Mongols. Queen Jadwiga and Duke Wladyslaw Jagiello of Lithuania s marriage began Poland s greatest age. • 7. Richard III and the Stability of England Essay Richard III and the Stability of England Richard became King of England on July the sixth 1483 after the heir to the throne was proclaimed illegitimate. Whether this claim was true or not is questionable. During Richards reign, the stability of England has been debated. Was he the ruler England needed to end the Wars of the Rosesand bring stability back to the English people? Or did he cause England to be restless and unsettled? Is it a good thing that Henry Tudor defeated him in the Battle of Bosworth? This essay will look at the different points, which, under the reign of Richard III made the country stable or unstable. England under Richard III was stable in that he had lots of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Richard had strong foreign policies, which helped to make England stable. He made good alliances with France by building on previous victories and signing a three year truce. This made England stable because there was less worry of having to watch the Scots and make sure they do not start a fight. This made the people of England feel safer because they did not agree with fighting because of all the people who died. Another factor making England stable and strong under Richards reign was his support. Although it has been said that he was only popular in the North and that the South disliked him this can be proved somewhat untrue because it was the people of London who voted for him to be king. This proved that he had won the support of most of Britain, this was probably because people knew that he had been a loyal supporter of his brother during his reign and most people had liked Edward IV. Buckingham s rebellion was dealt with effectively and discreetly to prevent publicity. If the rebellion had been made a bid deal of people might have started to doubt the capability of their ruler. Another reason why England was seen as stable during Richards s reign was that he managed to refrain from having any civil war during his time on throne. This was helpful because civil war caused death and if there had been the country would have been seen as unstable. England ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Southern Stereotype Essay Long Live Southern Stereotypes Ever since Scarlett O Hara struggled to find love and Andy Taylor was elected Mayberry s Sheriff, filmmakers and television producers have yet to lose any fondness for stereotyping the southern culture. There are many who despise any form of labeling or stereotyping within the media, fearing false characterizations or inaccurate portrayals of southern customs, traditions, and people. Exposure to southern stereotypes through media is an appealing element in the American lifestyle that can render endearing impressions, contribute genuine metaphors, and provide viewers with a unique and fascinating (whether positive or negative) glimpse toward a regional culture. The mass media, or media at large, would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are pointed descriptions, but they are true and the American culture loves (and loves to hate) the southern stereotype and it is here to stay. Now what about those who may have that southern stereotypical drawl? Southern accents do not make one stupid; being stupid does. Southerners should be proud of the southern accent. However, the media has managed to cause dismay among many southerners who possess the engaging and attractive drawl. Should a visitor traveling to North Dakota, view a Fargo native as stupid or ignorant because of the distinct accent heard there? Should a North Dakota resident ridicule a person from the Bronx because of the peculiar accent heard there? Somehow people are ashamed of their unique speech patterns rather than being proud of a colloquial accent. The southern stereotype will be here for a long time to come, so love it and embrace it. According to Jack G. Shaheen in his essay titled, The Media s Image of Arabs, Hollywood producers must have instant kits that contain sunglasses, Arab clothing, tents, and mosques in order to provide a snapshot of Hollywood s stereotypical Arab (99). Undoubtedly, the same holds true when depicting the typical southern example. Whether one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general Bundelkhand region is affected by the menace of droughts since over a decade. As the article emphasise that the major reason behind the grief and catastrophe in the region is droughtfollowed by flood, hailstorm and irregularity in rainfall. For overcoming the problem related to PDS one should give emphasis to universal public distribution system as in other state of India such as Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu instead of targeted public distribution system (TPDS). The reason is, in TPDS one has to target the beneficiaries to find out who deserves BPL category and who deserves APL category and it is in the process of targeting where the biasness and corruption starts. But when the distribution system becomes universal means everyone is eligible corruption declines because it reduces the power of authorities to do corruption through colluding and divergence and leakage of foodgrains also decline manifold. Moreover, rich will be automatically excluded because he do not have enough times to come to the ration shop, stand in line and wait for his turn to purchase the grain but real poor can wait for its turn. • 10. Jake And Babbit During the early 20th century, the expansion of the immigrant population and wealthy class represented the changes occurring in America. Through Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis and Hester Street, directed by Joan Micklin Silver, we absorb personal stories of both sides. Babbitt epitomizes the lifestyle of the wealthy through his desire for material things and his discontent with his life. Jake represents the immigrant population, caring more about finding his identity as an American than big houses and fancy cars. Jake and Babbitt portray authentic Americanism, whiteness, and masculinity through their variance of struggles and accomplishments. In Hester Street, Jake heavily depended on Mamie economically to get by. Before his wife and son moved to America, he lived with Mamie in order to save money. However, when he learns of their plans to immigrate, he realizes that not only will he need to end his affair, but he will also need to rent his own apartment and pay for the associated costs himself. Unfortunately, he doesn t have enough money to afford this, so he needs to borrow $25 from Mamie. During this time period, the man was usually the only one in the family who worked and was supposed to treat and pay for the women. Therefore, it is almost shameful that Jake has to rely on Mamie for money, essentially demonstrating that he has failed as a man to provide a decent living for himself and those he cares about. Similarly, Babbitt s affair results from his failure, but in his case, it s his failure to find happiness in his life. While Babbitt had faced turmoil for quite some time, once Paul gets thrown in jail, he begins flirting with younger women and has an affair. He felt sick and tired of his wife and thought that mixing things up might bring him more pleasure. However, when he notices the pain he s brought upon his wife and learns that she falls ill with appendicitis, he regrets his decisions and wants to care for her again. Unlike Jake, who continues to mistreat his wife and eventually divorces her, Babbitt recognizes his mistakes and takes action to repair the damage. The failures of Jake and Babbitt to be proper men led them to breaking their loyalty to their wives, but differing end results, particularly Babbitt s ability to save his marriage, proves that Babbitt is more of man than ... It s a mystery in itself how groups of people of all ethnicities and nationalities can have the same beliefs and interest in these topics. The original playing cards were augmented decks, or decks with a fifth suit serving as trumps. The original suits were swords, staves, coins, cups and sticks. The Italians simplified this by removing the sticks, while the Spanish changed the staves into clubs (later in 1750, the French would create the standard 52 card deck that was composed of the suits: spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds.) • 13. Social Insanity In Medieval Europe Insanity in medieval Europe can be classified according to social and religious violations. Insane was one of the worst labels a man could get during the time of knights. By being labeled a madman, a respected man could become lower than trash. Whether labeled insane due to strangeness or for religious beliefs that differed from the norm, the fact remains that these individuals were all outcasts from society. Social Insanity Definition Insanity, in medieval Europe in the context of social violations, is the condition in which a man or woman acts in a manner deemed outrageous or illogical by the common man. By being labeled insane, a person would be lowered to the equivalent status level of an unreliable drunk. Thus businesses could be crushed and lives ruined if your actions were considered as too strange by the public. Treatment The so called cure of the time for social insanity was isolation, a process by which the potential lunatic is locked up on their own until the patient either shows improvement or dies. When it came to curing the patient, isolation sometimes worked, but it depended on the degree of infliction. In some cases, a patient who wasn t actually insane was driven insane by the solitude instead of being cured by it. Legally, the patient s land would typically be given to ... Relationship Between Medical Service Consumption And... 2Literature Review 2.1 Insurance demand Economists have long explored the relationship between medical service consumption and health insurance demand, and found that they are dependent upon each other (DING Jihong, ZHU Minglai, 2007). The relationship between the demand of health insurance and the demand of health care of a nation has a strong relationship between, the reason lies behind the fact that health insurance is not bought by a customer in order to obtain a good, but as a mean of been able to pay health related services in the future (Feldstein, 1973). Having health insurance also affects the demand of health care, specifically when looking at people that could use health care services based on the fact that they re assured and use the health care as a prepaid service. Since health insurance twists the real price that people pay to utilize health care, there is a great possibility for a moral hazard (Arrow, 1963; Manning et al., 1987). Mark V. Pauly (2007) observed that health insurance often induces moral hazard which makes it harder for companies or the government to estimate the real coverage that a population would require. Thus, this problems weakens the entrance to the market not only of governmental institutions that would like to take over the health insurance, but also companies that would try to explore the insurance market of a region. Under criminalization in the United States, females are arrested at much higher rates than males, despite the fact that when including johns, pimps, and brothel owners, there are probably more men involved in the practice (McKim 1). This discriminatory enforcement of prostitution laws undermines the gender equality this country is trying to achieve. The legalization and regulation of prostitution argues that the best way to promote women s autonomy is by allowing them to take control of their own bodies and choose their own profession. The goal of this approach is to develop capabilities through developing ideas, for making decisions and creating continual innovations. The process includes the areas of technology and organization or even a mix of both. The learning process serves an alternative to the blueprint approach, taking into account the particular context of the project. (Krishna et al., 1998) The possibility of embracing error is another particular characteristic of this approach. The use of small scale projects generates a substantive knowledge about the factors of success and the elements to improve in any stage of the development programs. For completing this process, the individuals in the project must document the findings and develop a structured system of learning which would be the base for building the local capabilities. This usually explains the tendency to slowly start the programs which use the learning process approach. The local capabilities construction becomes the main resource for the sustainability of the project through the development of the self reliance. The projects of development usually include an assisted process for generating this condition of self reliance. Individuals in rural communities should understand that they are responsible for their resources and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. What Is The Similarities Between The Hapolis And Hagia Sophia I decided to compare the Pantheon and Hagia Sophia. The Pantheon is in Rome, Italy and the Hagia Sophia is located in Istanbul, Turkey previously Constantinople. I chose these structures because the construction of domes fascinates me. How the domes were constructed is explained in the text, yet the concept still baffles me how people were actually able to build domes with the technology present then and that the domes did not collapse on themselves. The primary similarity between the two works are the massive domes topping them. The second similarity is that both the Pantheon and the Hagia Sophia served as a place of worship. The Pantheon was dedicated to all the Roman gods, then was later donated to the Pope and used as a church. The light shines off the mosaics and marble walls and floor defining the space. The dome is 108 feet across and 180 high. Europe managed to take over the New World even though they were greatly out numbered by the native people due to the fact that Europeans were at both a material and cultural advantage. Europeans took command over the New World because their technology was superior to that of the Native people, they were more organized politically speaking, and they had a capitalist attitude toward the New World. Around 13,000 years ago there was a piece of frozen ice that stretched between Russia and Alaska, known as the Bering Strait Land Bridge. Between 12,000 and 5,000 years ago Asians migrated across the Bering Strait and down the west coast, following herds of animals and spreading across the Americas. This land bridge was below sea level and became covered by water due to the fact that the sea level rose, sealing off the people living in the Americas from the rest of the world. The Labor Law instituted in 1930 promised to liberate married women from the workshop and factory. Far from liberating, it sought to ensure that women could remain in the home and fulfill the only purpose of Christian marriage: reproduction. Women made up a slim percentage of those educated at the secondary level and therefore qualified for few professional positions, they did dominate training for magisterio, elementary school teaching. This unusual statistic evidence that there were indeed ways to seek employment, but even within there is a reminder of the types of roles in which the women who were allowed to contribute could be placed.
