imperialism expansion of western capitalistic industrial nations throughout the whole world. During
this process, the conflicts between occidental imperialism powers and oriental countries never
stopped. The First Opium War, well known as the Opium War, was the war that happened during
September, 1839 to Autumn, 1842, between China and Britain. The war was initiated by the
conflicts between China and Britain on the fact that some British merchants, who worked for the
East India Company, smuggled opium to China and ignored Chinese laws. The mania of opium
smoking shocked the Chinese government and triggered the anti opium movement. Lin Zexu, a
Chinese official known as Commissioner Lin, burned out the confiscated opium at Humen. During
the war, China suffered great loss and ended up with a disastrous fiasco. The result was extremely

Understanding phonics is an essential part of a child s education, as the knowledge they develop
will assist them to read and write. Educators must have an understanding of phonics to teach it
effectively. Teachers need to support students to learn what sounds, letters make, which is a

names, which is called graphemes (Tompkins, Campbell, Green, Smith, 2015, p. 142).

Sundiata: an Epic of Old Mali was written by D.T. Niane and translated by G.C. Pickett. D.T.
Niane was a historian who received this version of Sundiata s epic from Djeli Mamoudou
KouyatГ©, a griot. In fact, there is not a true author for this epic due to the fact that it has been
transmitted orally for many years. This epic justly showed the type of culture Africa had at the time
taken place and has defined the type of people who use to reside there. Sundiata: an Epic of Old
Mali withholds many themes, but only some of importance: the transmission of the epic, politics,
religion, and destiny.
It can be argued that the orality of Sundiata versus the written translation is an important theme of
the epic of old Mali. This story has been translated several times into several different languages.
The epic of Sundiata originated as an oral epic performance that was performed by various African
griots or bards. It was a challenge translating the oral tradition into written form. Thus concluded
that orality is a better form of transmission than writing. Transmitting oral passages into writing can
be easily falsified. Oral communication is more unquestioning than writing. Interesting enough, the
griots are important persons who transmitted Sundiata: an Epic of Old Mali through many lineages.
Griots were not only historical orators, but they were also important political figures.

In every story, there are many things to analyze. In Game by Donald Barthelme, he shows us the
way our minds start to work in stressful situations like how the narrator and Shotwell started to

Shotwell and the narrator do not trusteach other, but are left alone together and trusted to kill the
other if they start to behave strangely, although it is never clarified what counts as strange and what

believe that his mind is deteriorating. For example, when he repeats that they have been there for
one hundred thirty three days, Barthelme is showing how the narrator is counting the days to keep
himself reminded. Although, it starts to make him question how long he and Shotwell will be in
isolation and it starts to make him think differently about his situation and he starts to realize and

INTRODUCTION

There has been some controversy regarding L OrГ©al Canada and their use of animal testing in
their cosmetic products. For certifications regarding safety, we currently possess 86% of
manufacturing facilities that are either OHSAS 18001 or VPP certified. (L OrГ©al Canada, 2014)
Safety is a priority for us at L OrГ©al Canada to ensure that our products are safe for our
consumers so that they can enjoy the beauty of our cosmetic products. Health Canada has stated
that science has not advanced to the point where they feel comfortable banning ... Show more
(CFHS, 2014) L OrГ©al Canada should work hard to ensure that all of our manufacturing
faculties comply with the standards of CCAC so that our faculties can be certified for good
animal practices as well. It is important that our researchers and manufacturers find alternative
methods to animal testing, and only resort to the use of animals when all else fails. If there is no
option but to use animals for the testing of cosmetic products, the number of animals used should
be minimized, and pain and discomfort for those animals should be reduced as well. This is how
the implementation of the three R s of ethics should be used with regards to animals in research so
that we have good business practices and consumers will be more willing to purchase our products.
Sections 444 447 under the Criminal Code of Canada protects the rights of animals against cruelty,
but it the provincial legislation that deals with the use of animals in research. (CFHS, 2014)
Quebec has a specific legislation for animals in research, but this legislation does not have the
CCAC guidelines implemented into the legislation. (CFHS, 2014) At L OrГ©al Canada, since we
are located in Montreal, we should focus on incorporating CCAC guidelines into our business
practices even though the provincial legalisation does not make it a requirement. This is important

the great depression. The most notorious issue was the subprime mortgage crisis, which had a
ripple effect felt through every market in the world. The banks, whose leverage rate should never

In the movie, The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan, Joker, the immoral character, tries to create
a state of dilemma in people s point of view. This movie was aired in 2008, and it is known for
its action and adventure genre. Joker tries to evoke the citizens of Gotham by putting them in
dangerous terrorist attacks, in order to confuse them about the order verses disorders of the

One of Lululemon s ethical issues that it is currently practiced is that Lululemon encourages
employees to ease drop on its customers to gain more knowledge on the current complaints/defects
with its products. This practice was introduced to the company because Lululemon is known for
