The document discusses time management and how to optimize the distribution of available time. It notes that on average, 28% of daily time, or about 3 hours, is lost to interruptions like emails and phone calls. Proper time management means consciously deciding how to allocate one's time by controlling oneself, others, and one's work. The document emphasizes identifying tasks that are both urgent and important to focus on first, and avoiding things that are not urgent or important. It provides examples of activities that fall into each category to help with prioritization.

The document discusses stress theory and the biopsychosocial model of stress. It summarizes that stress has three components: 1) external stressors from one's environment, 2) internal physiological and neurological responses to stress, and 3) the interaction between external and internal factors. One of the most influential theories was proposed by Hans Selye, who described the general adaptation syndrome where the body goes through alarm, resistance, and exhaustion stages in response to prolonged stress.
1) The document discusses an organisational approach to managing workplace stress through proactive stress risk assessments.
2) It emphasizes that both employers and employees share responsibility in systematically identifying stress hazards and managing them to promote a healthy workplace.
3) Conducting stress risk assessments helps organizations prevent and reduce work-related stress by identifying its key sources and introducing controls like policies, trainings, and changes to work processes or conditions.
The document discusses different models of stress. It describes the stimulus-based model which views stress as external stimuli or life events that tax a person's coping abilities. It also covers the response-based model proposed by Hans Selye which sees stress as the non-specific physiological response to demands placed on the body. Finally, it outlines the transactional model proposed by Lazarus which views stress as resulting from the interaction between personal and environmental factors, and emphasizes the role of cognitive appraisal in determining whether an event is perceived as stressful.
This document discusses stress, its sources, and management. It defines stress as tension from demands that exceed abilities. There are two types of stress outcomes - eustress which is positive stress, and distress which harms health. Stress can come from the environment, organization, or individual factors like economic issues, technological change, role demands, and personality type. Stress has physiological, psychological, and behavioral symptoms like reduced immunity, depression, and lower performance. Management techniques include time management, exercise, relaxation, social support, goal setting, job redesign, communication, and wellness programs.

The document discusses various topics related to stress, conflict, and coping mechanisms. It defines types of conflicts such as approach-approach and avoidance-avoidance. It also describes the physiological fight or flight response and stages of the general adaptation syndrome. Additionally, it discusses psychological defense mechanisms for dealing with stress and lists common stressors for high school students.
This document discusses stress management in organizations. It presents a model of stress that includes environmental, organizational, and individual factors. It identifies four key variables that influence an individual's ability to handle stress: perception, job experience, social support, and locus of control. The document then discusses the physiological, psychological, and behavioral effects of stress. It concludes by outlining individual approaches like time management and relaxation training, as well as organizational approaches such as selection and placement, job redesign, and wellness programs that can help manage stress.
Stress is a person's response to threatening or challenging events called stressors. Stress can be categorized as either eustress, which are good stressors like accomplishments, or distress, which are bad stressors like injuries or illnesses. Hans Selye developed the general adaptation syndrome to describe the body's three stage response to stressors - alarm, resistance, and exhaustion. Managing stress involves identifying if you are stressed, the stressor causing it, the reason for the stressor, selecting a coping strategy, and then evaluating the effectiveness of the strategy.
Stress is defined as a person's physical and emotional response to change. There are different types of stress including general stress, cumulative stress, acute traumatic stress, and post traumatic stress. Sources of stress can come from environmental factors, organizational factors, and personal factors. Common causes of stress include divorce, death of a loved one, financial setbacks, employment changes, and traffic. Stress can be positive or negative and classified as acute or chronic. Symptoms of stress affect behavior, physiology, and psychology. Stress management techniques include healthy living, exercise, social support, organization, anger management, flexibility, and pursuing hobbies.
Stress management involves reducing or managing stress through various techniques. There are two main types of stress: acute stress which occurs over a short period from events like deadlines, and chronic stress which occurs over longer periods from issues like family problems. Stress in the workplace can be caused by factors like workload, relationships, and job insecurity. While stress can be motivating in moderation, high and prolonged stress can negatively impact physical health, mental health, job performance, and business costs due to absenteeism and reduced productivity. Stress management techniques provide benefits both for individuals and businesses.
Stress Management PowerPoint Presentation Content slides include topics such as: understanding the dynamics of stress, quickly and effectively managing stress, symptoms of stress, identifying sources of stress, negative and positive effects of stress, the five step system to tackle stress, 6 strategies to minimize burn-out, from distress to eustress, specific problems and associated treatments, 15 ways to make work less stressful, how to's and much more.
This document discusses stress management and provides strategies for coping with stress. It defines stress and outlines its causes such as life events, work, and lifestyle factors. The physical and psychological symptoms of stress are described. The document also explains how the body's stress response system works and covers strategies for managing stress through changing one's thinking, behavior, and lifestyle habits like diet, exercise, and relaxation techniques. Alternative therapies for reducing stress are also mentioned.
This document provides an overview of stress management. It defines stress and discusses the difference between eustress (positive stress) and distress (negative stress). It outlines various signs and causes of stress as well as the advantages and disadvantages of stress management. The document then describes different types of stressors and various approaches to managing stress, including relaxation techniques, time management strategies, maintaining a positive attitude, and stress relief activities.

Introduction: Occupational stress is reported as the major work-related health problem in Greece, because of the continuing worsening of work climate due to the acceleration of the economic debt crisis and the fiscal problems. Work stress is related to a number of problems and its combination with the growth of job insecurity can easily create conflicts between employers and employees.
Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to investigate how Doctors and Nurses working in the Greek private Health sector are influenced by occupational stress and job insecurity, how they react and what consequences are reported considering the quality of delivered services.
Design/methodology/approach: A questionnaire consisted of 77 items was used in order to investigate the main factors and the level of occupational stress, burnout, job insecurity, personality type, job involvement and job satisfaction. The participants came up to 130 doctors and 103 nurses and mostly of them are working in private hospitals of Athens and Thessaloniki.

This document discusses the past, present, and future of technology in employee recruitment and selection. It covers how internet-based recruitment through company career sites, job boards, and applicant tracking systems has evolved. It also examines the increasing role of social networking websites and how cybervetting and artificial intelligence are changing screening. New technologies like digital interviewing, automated testing, and gamification are transforming selection. The use of big data and analytics could fundamentally change the talent identification process. However, valid evidence is still needed to ensure new technologies do not adversely impact applicants or result in unfair discrimination. The future may bring increased access to talent signals but also privacy concerns that could limit data use.
Technology in Employee Recruitment and SelectionIoannis Nikolaou
This document summarizes technology used in employee recruitment and selection processes. It discusses how internet-based tools like company career sites, job boards, and social networking websites have changed recruitment. It also examines applicant tracking systems, video CVs, resume parsing, and screening tools used to evaluate applicants. For selection, it outlines digital interviewing, automated testing, simulations, and how big data and analytics are used. Critical issues discussed include the equivalence and validity of these tools as well as privacy and legal concerns. The document concludes by proposing areas for future research.

This document discusses using serious gaming and gamification in employee selection processes. It presents research on developing a gamified situational judgement test (SJT) to assess skills like resilience, adaptability and flexibility. A study developed an SJT and tested its construct validity, then converted it into an online adventure game. A second study further examined the gamified assessment's construct validity. The research provides preliminary support for using gamification in selection and assessing skills through behavior elicitation. It suggests gamified assessments could improve selection processes and candidate experiences over traditional methods. More research is still needed on reliability, predictive validity and incremental validity.

The role of Positive Leadership in times of crisisIoannis Nikolaou
This document summarizes a presentation given by Kim Cameron at the Greece HR Conference in June 2014 on the role of positive leadership in times of crisis. Cameron discusses how focusing on organizational strengths or "abundance gaps" rather than weaknesses can help organizations flourish even during difficult times. She provides research showing that positive emotions, relationships, and energy networks can boost individual and organizational performance. While negative factors usually get more attention, Cameron argues that conscious efforts to focus on positivity are important for organizations. She cites research finding that cultivating an "abundance culture" in organizations is linked to greater effectiveness, profitability, quality and other positive outcomes.
