Buerger's disease, or thromboangitis obliterans, is an obstructive vascular disorder characterized by segmental inflammation in the arteries and veins of the extremities, leading to thrombus formation and vessel occlusion, primarily affecting individuals aged 20 to 40, particularly smokers. Symptoms include pain in the feet, burning sensations, and potential ulceration or gangrene, with diagnosis involving various examination tests and blood tests. Treatment options focus on smoking cessation, medications such as vasodilators and anticoagulants, and possibly surgical intervention, with amputation being necessary in severe cases of infection.
