Body Language The unspoken communication
What is body language? Body Language is the unspoken communication that goes on in every Face-to-Face encounter with another human being .  It tells you their true feelings towards you and how well your words are being received . A simple roll of the eyes or hand gesture may be all it takes to convey 100% of what we mean, no words, no tone, only 7-10% is attributable to the actual words we use in a conversation.
Posture Erect posture- eager to do task Hostile. A Person with a straight head, erect shoulders, fast steps and straight posture gives an impression of a confident person.
Handshake A weak, limp, dead fish handshake =Disinterested and a cold person Strong, well gripped handshake =Warm, friendly and enthusiastic person Handshake with his second hand holding the wrist/arm =Diplomatic person
Handshake-continued Handshake is an integral part of one's personality and modifying handshake can improve initial image. Practice a strong, well gripped and vertical handshake . A well gripped and strong handshake creates a positive impression.
Eyes speak more than the words “ Face is the index of mind", if it is so, then eyes are 50% of it. Gazing towards blank while conversing is an indication of recollecting something . Best is to practice looking above the eyes, near the forehead (above the nose) of the other person while speaking
Telling a lie is not easy, our body is more honest than our words Covering the mouth with the hand. Scratching the nose quite frequently Moving the hand to scratch or rub the ear Scratching the side of the neck with fingers
Movements of hand Rubbing the eye Most movements of hand, where one touch one's face and/or the portion above are all an indication of an un-truthful statement being made.
Movements of hand Slapping of the head indicates forgetfulness To sit with one's hands behind the head shows superiority. If it is supported by crossed leg Ready to argue or compete.
Hands Movement Stroking or rubbing one's chin may indicate a disagreement. Hand resting slightly on the chin and the first finger on the cheek suggests analysis and evaluation .
Arms crossed Arms crossed depicts person is being defensive and cautious. Hands in pockets  -   implies you have something to hide
Foot Tapping Tapping foot or holding something in hand and fiddling with it or having a key chain in finger and moving it around finger. All this indicates restlessness, disinterest and a desire to end the session. Moving key-chain around one's finger is an indication of a desire to leave.
Head resting on the hand Resting the elbow on the table or the arm of the chair with the chin or cheek resting on the palm indicates boredom, casualness and disinterest. Any movement where head rests on the hand, suggests the same
Dilation of pupils One kinetic signal which is of tremendous importance for those in marketing and advertising is the dilation of pupils . The pupil size unconsciously increases when you see a thing of great interest—a sign to the marketing man that the product has been liked .
Recruitment Sucking thumb, biting nails, chewing or sucking the end of a pen or piece of paper (insecurity, stress, lack of confidence). Looking away while talking (unsure); Maintaining eye contact while talking (confidence).
Meeting and presentation During a meeting or presentation, you know that you are being listened to intently if the listener is keeping his left hand over the right one , with his palms down. However, if the right hand covers the left one, the person is probably disagreeing with what is being said and is waiting for an opportunity to interrupt. He may also pull his earlobe at the time he is just about to interrupt
