Terracotta, stoneware, and earthenware are three common types of ceramic. Terracotta is made from clay and fired at low temperatures, giving it an orange-red color. Stoneware is made from secondary clays mixed with feldspar and silica, then fired at very high temperatures between 2100-2400°F to vitrify it. Earthenware is also made from secondary clay typically containing iron oxide, giving it a reddish-brown color. It is usually fired at lower temperatures between 1830-1980°F.
