Historic Treaties And Its Effects On The Peoples Of This...
INSERT SOMETHING ABOUT SOCIOLOGY PAPER. Historic treaties continue to be relevant in
Canada today because ever since Christopher Columbus arrived to an undiscovered continent, he
managed to employ detrimental consequences to the peoples of this land. The treaty was one of the
colonial processes that would allow for the exploitation of the First Nations. Many Aboriginal
Signatories to treaties understood the treaty agreements as being the foundation of a relationship with
the Crown and that this relationship would be based on co existence versus the crown, creating them
as a surrendering of the land with only small reserve retained, and limited hunting in those territories.
These treaties are important today because they try to go about who has land claim to a certain area
and they show that some treaties were compiled by the British with the poorer intentions of the
Aboriginals. However, the documents and treaties that the British drafted and passed, would create a
paper trail of vast amounts of exploitation. Treaties show prevalence today because they can
demonstrate how convoluted the history of Canada s relationships with the Aboriginal peoples is. One
factor that makes this history perplexing is trying to fathom who has claim to the lands that people
stand on. Moreover, when the government was willing to substantiate what scheme they wanted to
employ in order to solve the issue of cohabitation of the aboriginal peoples. Historically, in the fur
trader era, it was

Programmed For Love
Programmed for Love: The Impact of Social Technology
In his article, Programmed for Love, Jeffrey R. Young makes many interesting points on how social
technology can have different effects on people s lives. He includes an interview with Sherry Turkle
who had experienced the impact of social technology personally in her life. Young supports his writing
by including several different stories of witnessing interactions between humans and robots/
technology. He explains Turkle s views on how people have become too comfortable with their
technology like smartphones and laptops, that we turn to them to occupy and comfort us so much we
forget how to function without them. Young also incorporates Turkle s field research other than just
her own personal experiences that affected her attitude towards technology. Throughout the article
Young also provides future hopes for social technology, not only by Turkle but also a woman named
Cynthia Breazeal, a leader of one of Turkle s projects. He also ... Show more content on

Speech Language Pathology Intervention Paper
Introduction:
In the field of speech language pathology parent education and involvement in treatment programs can
be very beneficial to a client s progress(TEMPEL). Evidence supports the use of programs that
contain interactive approaches to speech and language intervention(LORRAINE). The importance of
education is often recognized but can be difficult to deliver. The challenge of providing an effective
parent/ caregiver education is an issue that Speech Language Pthologists may come in contact with.
While some speech language pathologists may choose to deliver parent education using their own
methodology , a large number may opt to participate in teaching methodology and coaching
framework model workshops. One of these coaching framework model workshops is the Hanen

few times a week, but there are many opportunities to increase a child s speech and language outside
of therapy. Many parents are not aware of how to do this or the opportunities, which is why programs
such as Hanen were created.
The Hanen program seeks to educate parents on ways that they can provide language and speech

Firestone Essay
A business that manufacturer s products or food product is aware that some problems may transpire,
such as recalling the product due to various reasons, for example health concerns or for safety reasons.
Still a plan, especially a good crisis plan, should be implemented to be able to handle any sorts of
problems. Manufacturer companies also need to be ready to communicate the stakeholders and let
them know that they come first. However, when a plan is not firmly established or is completely
ignored, the company can jeopardize not only their reputation, but also loose financially, the way
Firestone/Bridgestone and Ford Company had to undergo. The Firestone Complete Auto Care is a
company that produces and supplies pneumatic tires for various modes of wheeled transportation and
they sold the company to Bridgestone Corporation. Nonetheless, a crisis transpired, where 6.5 million
Firestone brand tires were recalled in response to complaints the tires may be linked to fatal crashes
(www.money.cnn.com, August 2000). These tires were manufactured and placed on Ford vehicles.
According to Simison et al. (August 2000), the Firestone brands affected are certain 15 inch Radial
ATX and Radial ATX II tires produced in North America and Certain Wilderness AT Tires with
product code P235/75R15 there were manufactured at Firestone s Decatur, IL., plant. The majority of
the tires were mounted as original equipment on Ford Explorers and other Ford light trucks. The

Al Capone And The St. Valentine s Day Massacre
Only Capone s gang kills like that! a quote by Bugs Moran, leader of North Side Gang (Gottesman 1).
On February 14, 1929, seven men were killed in a warehouse loading zone in Chicago, USA
climaxing a huge rivalry between the North Side Gang and Al Capone s. Capone was one of the most
dominant and well known gangsters during the Prohibition Era, ranging between 1920 and 1933.
Prohibition in Chicago was huge, many people wanted to go out for a drink and have a good time after
work but the 18th amendment said otherwise. Capone thought he could take this situation into his own
hands by bootlegging beer and liquor throughout Chicago, but other gangs such as Moran s wanted to

This great demand for and simultaneous legalization of alcohol opened up a new illegal market for the
gangster to develop and monopolize. As Al Capone put it, All I do is to supply a public demand...
somebody had to throw some liquor on that thirst, Why not me? (1). With the prohibition getting
everyone down, now that they can t drink a beer and go out with friends anymore Al Capone thought
he could take the reigns of this situation by starting to bootleg beer. He was already a leader of a very
large and successful gang so he thought that if he could get his men to secretly bootleg beer in and out
of Chicago then he would become one of the richest men in the U.S.. His dream came true as he
nearly pocketed 60 million dollars in one year alone and 60 million which is now worth about 700
million dollars today. The prohibition didn t only affect Chicago, but it made Al Capone a very
wealthy man. As Capone was making million after million others wanted to get in on this action,
creating new gangs to try and halt Capone and his dominance. One of these gangs was the Moran
Gang, led by leader Bugs Moran, this gang ruled the North Side of Chicago while Capone and his men
ruled the south side.
DETAILS OF CRIME
In the meantime tension was building up between these two gangs as, A $50,000 bounty on Capone s

Macro-Environmental
Executive SummaryThe macro environment consists of larger societal forces that affect entire micro
environment. The six forces making up the company s macro environment include demographic,
economic, natural, technological, political/legal, and social cultural forces. Companies must constantly
watch and adapt to the marketing environment in order to seek opportunities and ward off threats. The
marketing environment comprises all the actors and forces influencing the company s ability to
transact business effectively with its target market (Armstrong and Kotler 2003, p.149). In this report,

everything from Chinese zodiac animals to Spring Festival couplets in its television commercials. This
approach, combined with relatively long advertising history in the country has made Pepsi Cola the
most recognized soft drink brand in China. However, government s policy and regulation can also
impact on the company s market strategy. Being a communist country, in China, although people now
are very much free of expression in ordinary life, there is still no free media. The media is still very
controlled by the government and there is always the risk of having more regulations especially to

Mobile Phone Use And Semen Quality
Growing up in a technology based society has its perks, our society has endless amounts of
information at our finger tips. But, the increase in cell phone usage has brought up many concerns
relating to our health. When I think about these health concerns, I think about my mother lecturing
me, Katheryn Paige Leyde, take your phone out of your front pockets right now! I would role my
eyes, and pull my phone out of my pocket. I never really thought of technology as a health hazard, but
my mother had read an article; stating that trends in research show, technology can cause infertility,
hearing loss or even cancer from the electromagnetic field that cell phones give off. Hopefully with
the research I present to you, you too will think twice about the next time you put your phone in your
pocket. In the article, Association between mobile phone use and semen quality: A systemic review
and meta analysis, specific concerns are presented; Public concerns have been raised regarding the
potentially harmful effects of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation emitted from mobile phones
and their towers (Liu K., et. al). The article also discusses the correlation between cell phone radiation
and semen in men. Electromagnetic fields affect sperm in males, resulting in infertility. In the systemic
review portion of the article it is presented, mobile phone use had negative effects on sperm
parameters (Liu K., et al). Furthermore, the article recommended that men do

Every day millions of people put on their durable denim jeans without thinking where they came from

These are questions that make many of us cringe and they are questions that need to be answered. The

Compare And Contrast Mayan Civilization
The Mayan civilizations was one of the Mesoamerican civilizations. It existed around c1800BCE

populated and culturally diverse societies in the world, with its people having amazing skill in areas
such as architecture, agriculture, and writing. The Mayan civilization was located in Central America,
through present day parts of Guatemala, Belize, Salvador, Honduras, Tabasco, Campeche, and

The Mayans were also famous for their progress in astronomy. The Mayan people were very interested
in knowing more about what went on above, and studies the constellations, and were even the first to

More areas of note of the Mayans include their calendar and writing system. Their calendar included a

Examples Of Cognitive Dissonance And Violence
A psychologist would apply the psychological school of thought of cognitive dissonance theory to the
theme of violence. Cognitive dissonance theory is when there is inconsistency within the person, they
tend to do things to eliminate dissonance and gain consistency with themselves. People who are in
cognitive dissonance use violent acts to get back into consistency. This is shown in the movie Crash
when Farhad tries to kill Daniels daughter Laura because Farhad thinks that Daniel robbed is store.
Farhad being in cognitive dissonance goes to Daniels house and tries to shoot him. But, Laura walks
in front of him trying to save him. Farhad feels the only way to come back to consistency is to take
revenge on Daniel. Another example can be seen in the movie American History X when the reporter
interviews Derek about his father s death. After his father s death Derek was in dissonance, he thinks
to only way to get back into consistency is to hate black people. He commits violent acts not only
physically but verbally to black people. Violence is also shown in the movie Pleasantville when the
non colored people destroy Bill s diner and all his paintings that he drew. In Made in Dagenham
violence is displayed when Eddie hits the pillow to take out his anger because he is mad at Rita.
Lastly, in the movie In Out violence is shown when Emily is in dissonance because Howard came out
on the wedding day so she resorts to violence and punches Howard in the face. Discrimination is one

Enlightenment Impact On Enlightenment
Science and Culture, a Significant Impact on Enlightenment Era
The Age of Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Reason occurred during the 18th and 19th
centuries. It was a time when European politics, philosophy, science, and communications changed the
way people embraced the fact that humanity could be improved through rational change. The Age of
Enlightenment was a time of growth and change. It paved the way for major advancements in
technology, as well as the way people viewed life. New ideas circulated, and Europe began to change
as people questioned God s place and began to reposition their Christian faith. From the early age of
Enlightenment to the peak, the Enlightenment era had a significant impact on economics, and politics,
and religion. Ultimately, the impact that the Enlightenment periods had influencing economics,
politics and religion, created a culture influenced by science and change that jump started a new Era.
The culture change and scientific advancement created during the Age of Enlightenment created a
remarkable turning point in European history as scientists such as Isaac Newton and writer John
Locke, and female activists Mary Wollstonecraft questioned the status queue and powerfully
motivated change.
Impact of Science
Science began to make an impact during the Age of Enlightenment at the start. In the late 17th
century, scientist such as Isaac Newton and writers like John Locke began to question the old order.

The Death Of Movie Theaters Essay
The Death of Movie Theaters?
How Netflix and Hulu are changing the movie going experience. Netflix and Hulu have become some
of the easiest and most affordable ways for college students to watch television. While these massive
online streaming companies advertise affordability, and vast amount of viewing options, other major
entertainment companies are beginning to take notice. They re being able to release high quality
movie content and original shows that are being able to rival anything that is being made for theaters,
Paul McFerron, Employee of the Branson Meadow s Cinema s, told me last week.
McFerron, having worked at the cinema for over a year now, has noticed a slight decline in the
attendance at the theater. He believes that Netflix has something to do with it.
Netflix s cost per month is around 10 dollars now. A year ago, I believe the cost was 7.99 monthly.
What I m trying to say is that if you come to the theater, one ticket alone can cost around 8 dollars.
Then you factor in snacks which could bump your ticket it up to 15 dollars. Plus, if the film is in 3D,
then you are looking at a 12 15 dollar ticket, and add however much you want with concessions. The
prices are steep, and I understand why some people are passing on theaters. The option of being able
to stay in the comfort of your own home is very appealing to people right now. I mean, I myself am a
college student, and I sometimes don t have enough money to go to the movies, so the affordability

Urban Progression In Australia
In 1800 only 3% of people lived in a city of 1 million or more; by the year 2000, it was 47%. In 1950
there were only 83 cities worldwide with populations over 1 million; by 2007 there were 468. In April
2008, the world passed the 50% urbanization mark. Cities have evolved into a more complex space
inter linked by a number of systems and planners generally have failed to read the Urban Progression
and thus cities have failed significantly in terms of the Quality of Life of the urbanites.
This chapter reviews the importance of urban progression and their significance in present urban
context of Queensland. The first section 2.1 tells us about the origin and definition of urban
progression, in section 2.2 we discuss about the present and future urban densities of Queensland
which play an important role is defining the urban sprawl and the changes in the housing forms i.e.
section 2.3. Through these studies we can correlate between density, housing and its types.

Women Among Roles, Power, And Rights Essay
The Women Among Roles, Power, and Rights in Islam. Since the mention of women in an Islamic
context brings the notion that women under the Islamic cover live an oppressive, unfair, and
patriarchal lifestyle. Defending this situation, Amina Wadud in her book Qur an and Woman, Muslim
progressives have since quite a while ago contended that it is not the religion but rather a patriarchal
elucidation and usage of the Qur an that has kept women mistreated. Wadud sees that the sacred texts
are not the problem source for the oppression that women experiencing under Islam, she believes that
who interpreting them and how they were interpreted are the sources of the problem. Her book
challenges the false concepts held by many Muslims (concepts that do not reflect Quran and Islam)
such as: men are superior to women , men are in charge of women , men are natural leaders , men rule
the family and should get obedience from women , women should not leave the house unless it is
necessary , woman s voice is taboo , etc. The author breaks down specific verses and key words that
have been used to oppress and limit women, to show that their real meaning defies such oppression
and limitation. Wadud indicates that the misogynist notion regarding Islam was created by the
patriarchal and frequently unpleasant society toward ladies; individuals in intense positions, similar to
say, male religious pioneers, would have each motivation to translate the Qur an similarly. Along

The Recession Of The United States Recession
Recession is termed as a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial
activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters. Based on the
complete recession that took place few important points that I could gather in specific considering
each type of recession are listed below. How it took place? Causes for it and what impact it had on the
audience. Let me discuss about this in brief.
The recession of 1937 38 is usually known as the recession at intervals Depression. It came at a time
once the recovery from the good Depression was aloof from complete and therefore the per centum
was still terribly high. In fact, it had been a fatal natural event to the recovery. Real value fell 11
November and industrial production fell thirty second, creating it the third worst United States
recession within the twentieth century (after 1929 32 and 1920 21).
The recession is usually attributed to a adjustment of business enterprise and financial policy.
Christina Romer (2009) has argued that it s relevant to today s scenario as a result of it illustrates the
risks of a premature withdrawal of stimulant once the economy remains weak. But the recession
remains somewhat of a mystery as a result of the 2 most often mentioned causes the reduction within
the business enterprise deficit and also the Federal Reserve s call to double reserve needs don t seem
to possess been powerful enough to get a recession of the magnitude seen.

Bonobo Intelligence Animal Essay
Why do we say that Bonobo has intelligence? Similar to humans might be a partial reason why
Bonobo is classified as intelligence animal. Many evidences show that Bonobo expresses its
intelligence in the natural world. Bonobo is highly intelligence and physically similar to human
ancestor. Bonobos were discovered in the forest along the Congo River in the Democratic Republic of
Congo in 1927. They are named as the pygmy chimpanzees because of the similarities in their
physical traits with chimpanzees. A lot of people make the same mistake in recognizing Bonobo and
Chimpanzee though they have the same height. However, Bonobo come with leaner body, smaller
head and longer leg than Chimpanzee. Moreover, they physically feature as the closest primates to
human who hold almost 98.6 percent of their DNA comparing with human.(
http://www.nydailynews.com)
Specifically, learning language indicates the most stunning ability about Bonobos intelligence. Human
is regarded as the intelligence animal because we can use language which distinguishes us with others.
Language covers many combinations of words such as grammars, sentences, phrases that only human
can understand. Since I was a child, I usually thought that the world of animal had its own language
that we did not know about it. Although many species can understand what their species want to
transfer in the world of nature by using methods such as waves or signal, but none of them can deliver
it into language. But we know this:

Richard Muhlfeld s His Quintet For Clarinet, 2 Violins,...
In his Quintet for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola, and Cello Op. 115, Brahms creates an important and
influential work in the chamber music repertoire. By writing his Quintet for the specific clarinetist
Richard Mühlfeld s artistic brilliance, and by taking musical liberties with conventional forms and
expectations, Brahms crafts the intimacy and seriousness one has come to expect from chamber
music. Towards the end of his life, Brahms had intended on retiring from composing. Around 1891,
the Meiningen orchestra, with whom Richard Mühlfeld held his career with, frequently featured
Brahms s music at well known festivals in the area. Previous to meeting Mühlfeld, Brahms had no
interest in centering his writing onto the clarinet. He felt the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Joachim Quartet concerts were known for being a major series performing strictly string chamber
music. Brahms had convinced Joachim with his manuscripts that the work was worthy of the sacrifice
of adding clarinet and piano to the series. The highly regarded reputation of the Joachim concerts
certainly allowed for the seriousness of the Quintet to be featured, for all of the cleaver composition
techniques Brahms employed were certainly appreciated by the intellectual audiences the Quartet
frequently attracted. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that audiences of the time
have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first movement acts as a Sonata
form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song form. The third and fourth
movements begin to some unconventional practices. In the third, instead of a scherzo movement in 3/4
time, we get a sonata allegro in 4/4 and 2/4 time. In the fourth, the audience gets a theme and
variations, but the tempo is considerably slower than what one would normally expect from a
concluding movement. In 1891, the only memorable clarinet quintet was composed by Mozart. If one
were to come into a performance of the Brahms Quintet with Mozart s Quintet in mind, they would
expect the clarinet to take the most important role, with the strings accompanying more often than not.
This is certainly not the case in Brahms s work, as the

Essay on A Closer Look at the Vietnam War
The Vietnam War The Vietnam war was a very hard and emotional time for many people. From the
vietnamese to the u.s., the vietnam war was a tradgedy. People said that the vietnam war had been the
longest lasting battle that took place in the cold war. The whole thing started because the vietnamese
wasnted to have their independence. They no longer wanted to be under the control of france. France
did not want to give up the land that they had ruled for years. France was getting supplies and goods
from vietnam so they didnt want to give it up so they fought for it. Ho Chi Minh was vietnams
president as you can say he was in control of north vietnam. He wanted vietnam to be a communist

Countries such as the soviet union , the U.S. , China , Vietnam and the French all met in Geneva to
negotiate. They wanted a peace agreement which later turned into dividing up vietnam into two
regions that would split the north and south between a boundary called the DMZ line. Then at that
time the north and south was divided between the line. The line was called the Demilitarized Zone
where the vietnamese were given total control of all territory of the north and everything to the south
was controlled by the country of vietnam and france. (Don Lawson the united stantes in the vietnam. ,
p. 16) . When the DMZ line went in full , the north vietnamese went through the south , which created
a food shortage throughout south vietnam. The U.S. supported them and gave them aid for food. Ho

vietnam being a communist country or not. In the mean time, the U.S. wanted Diem to take the land
that the wealthy land owners had and give it to the peasants for farm land so he had their full support.
Gary B. Nash said Diem didn t want anything that would weaken the ruling class (Nash, p. 770).
Eisenhower knew that if the elections went on , Ho Chi Minh would win and vietnam would become a
communist country. He convinced Diem to cancel the reunification election. with the U.S. support ,

Impact of Macro Economics Factors in Share Market
1. INTRODUCTION
As an old adage goes, When the US gets a Cold, the rest of the World gets Pneumonia , in the globally
open economy.
One reason for this might be that Stock Market depends on the overall health of the Economy, and real
Economic variables which tend to display persistence. Therefore, an interesting question in finance is:
what derives stock market volatility? Understanding the nature of stock market volatility gives some
important implications for policy makers, economic forecasters and investors.
Studying the impact of MacroEconomic factors such as Inflation, Interest Rate, Dollar Value and FII
on conditional stock market volatility also has important implications for investors and policymakers.

Inflation is bound to impact all sectors, either directly or indirectly. Inflation and stock market have a
very close association. If there is inflation, stock markets are the worst affected.
Relationship Between Inflation and the Stock Market
There is no one to one correlation between the Stock Market and Inflation. Typically, most investors
stay away from the stock market when inflation goes up. This is because prices of shares along with
the prices of everything else go up without any corresponding increase in intrinsic value. Such a bull
phase soon leads to a market correction due to many investors deciding to realise profits.
Inflation and stock market the logistics:
Prices of stocks are determined by the net earnings of a company. It depends on how much profit, the
company is likely to make in the long run or the near future. If it is reckoned that a company is likely
to do well in the years to come, the stock prices of the company will escalate. On the other hand, if it
is observed from trends that the company may not do well in the long run, the stock prices will not be
high. In other words, the price of stocks is directly proportional to the performance of the company. In
the event when inflation increases, the company earnings (worth) will also subside. This will
adversely affect the stock prices and eventually the returns.
Effect of inflation on stock market is also evident from the fact

Mental Health History
ntroduction to the History of Mental Illness Before the advent of technology and the scientific age,
sources of mental illness were found to be the workings of demons, spirits, and the supernatural. In
that first century B.C superstition eventually transformed into some of the first early biological
explanations. Hippocrates was the first to theorize that mental illness was a disease of the brain. With
the fall of the Roman empire came the Dark Ages in Europe. The churches of Europe gained massive
influence and doctors were replaced with missionaries and faith healers. With the turmoil of Middle
Ages Europe s epidemics, political unrest, and famines a reversion of demonology was rampant in the
form of witch hunts, lunacy trial, and other barbaric ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there were other ways to ward of mental illness in this innovative society. The Ancient
Egyptians treated mental illness through recreational activities. Such activities were; concerts, dances,
painting, and gardening. The disabled were to engage in activities in order to achieve some
resemblance of normality in their lives, as well as to relive symptoms of their illness such as
erraticness. Knowledge of the human body was also known to this civilization. The advancement of
their technologies included surgeries, and medicine. Through papyri dating back to the sixteenth
century B.C.E , early documents suggest Egyptians were also likely the first to site the brain as the
location of mental functions. Hysteria in women was diagnosed as a biological function of a
wandering uterus fumigation of the vagina was used to recorrect the organ and return it to its original
position. ( INCERT reference)
The early physician and commonly held father of modern medicine Hippocrates was a vocal critic of
demonology. The Physician proposed mental illness stems from natural forces within the body,
principally the brain. If there were disturbances to ones thoughts or actions, the brain was the source
of these abnormalities. The categories classified into three different categories: mania, melancholia,

The Wife of Bath and his play with Gender
(Feminist and or Misogynist)
Like most of literature, The Wife of Bath can be read in multiple perspectives. Within The Wife of
Bath, it can be read as feministic and or misogynistic. Chaucer projects his views towards feminism
through the wife and her views and attitudes. Many literary critics explored the feministic views of
The Wife of Bath. She is a strongminded and dominant woman who knows exactly what she wants
and doesn t need a man to achieve such unless in regards to sexual behaviors but one must examine
the definition of feminism and this is not it. A feminist is someone who believes that women and men
are equal. Which leads the reader to wonder if Chauncer is playing upon genders or maybe even
confused.
Alisson, also known as the wife of Bath is a renowned character of Chauncer. She is blunt and open
and offers the readers a modern outlook on a woman s place in male controlled society. Most crown
her as one of the first feminist due to her stand against being portrayed as the wikked wyves (Chaucer
685) as she is described by the male characters in the tale. Still one can notice the contradictions
between what the Wife of Bath has acknowledged throughout the tale and her behavior. So What is
Chaucer really trying to say about the women of that time? Does Chauncer really belong to the
Feminist bunch or not? David Reid discusses chauncers confused outlook on

Francis Ford Coppola s Film Apocalypse Now
In Francis Ford Coppola s critically acclaimed movie Apocalypse Now he installed a journey of five
soldiers into psychological madness down the Vietnamese river, and through four specific scenes that
Francis used his screenplay to boast the utter psychological madness. The first scene to break down
towards the stages of madness is the beach landing scene where the crew gets going on launching their
patrol boat. Throughout this montage of scenes, also the longest shot segment in the movie, shows the
men descending into the first stage of evil, which is the love of war. Throughout these scenes at
Charlie Beach , we really see an unfair fight led by Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore. Kilgore has installed a
philosophy upon his mend to disregard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis has done an excellent job of using the screenplay to demonstrate the last evil, which is
madness: the dehumanizations of oneself. Right before the crew lands, one of the crew members
dropped an acid tab. Francis uses that one line to create the screenplay for the whole sequence. In the
first moments, the Camera captures hazy dark scenes of the bridge, with shadows lurking around, and
bright colorful Christmas lights around the bridge. Francis makes this scene look as it was a circus,
with vague distorted music in the background, and flashes of light to see the characters faces. This
creates a window into what we see the soldiers experience we get, utter madness. Once the crew
members descend into the trenches we see very weird and out of place shots. The first film shot is a
group of black soldiers listening to Jimi Hendrix and smoking pot. The Jimi Hendrix back sound is
also supposed to represent what the crew member that dropped acid is hearing and feeling.
Coincidentally, Francis is also portraying his acid trip externally with the vivid lights, and explosions.
The next stop in the trench, there s a soldier firing into darkness thinking that he s shooting at the
enemy but it s really his own troops. Francis really films this and uses his screenplay to make this look
so hellish. There s screaming in the background, distorted music, people yelling over the intercom,
and loud explosions, but

The Walt Disney Company vs. Studio Ghibli
What does a whistling mouse and a catlike bunny creature have in common? They are both the logos
of two leading animation companies: the Walt Disney Company and Studio Ghibli. While Disney and
Studio Ghibli vary in their style, production, and overall themes, they both produce award winning
and adventurous movies for Western and Non Western audiences alike.
In 1928, the whistling Mickey Mouse in the short cartoon Steamboat Willie led to the beginnings of
success in Walt Disney s company and set the ball rolling for the studio to become the widest known
in the world (Holliss and Sibley 5). Before that, the company was strained financially and ... Show

While the directors of Studio Ghibli had in mind to meet these goals as well, they founded the studio
more to have free reign in their artistic visions for animated movies. They wished to produce original
anime movies(Takai). They on the other hand aimed for just their home country Japan and came to
more renown than they intended.
Altogether Studio Ghibli and Disney have won many different
Therefore, Studio Ghibli s animations embody a strong sense of Japanese culture while also using
Western characters and settings in its productions (Odell and Michelle 33 35). Each animation has the
characteristic style of Anime or animations made in Japan which usually looks like the manga,
Japanese comic books, they are adapted from. Each has their own look but usually the characters have
bigger eyes, small nose and mouth. The two directors of Studio Ghibli brought different themes and
genres of animation to the table. Hayao Miyazaki was preoccupied with fantastical worlds hidden
inside of our own world, flying machines or flying in general, and environmentalism. Isao Takahata
focused more on realistic settings such as school life during adolescence and collaborated with
Miyazaki to produce films that had more themes such as, growing up, strong female lead characters,
forming an identity, animals with human characteristics and anti war sentiments (Odell and Michelle

Diffusion And Osmosis Paper
Particles are moving atoms; thus they have a habit of moving from areas of high concentration to areas
of low concentration. This principle is divided into two classifications: diffusion and osmosis.
Diffusion is the movement of substances from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower
concentration and they become evenly distributed throughout both regions (Biology Department,
2015).Furthermore Osmosis is the movement of free water from an area of higher concentration to an
area of lower concentration across a semi permeable membrane (Biology Department, 2015).Diffusion
and osmosis regulate the quantity of solutes that are in the solvent from moving in and out of the cell
in aqueous solutions. Solvents are the disperse agents while solutes are the disperse substances; these

Tonicity is the capacity of a nearby solution that causes a cell to gain or lose water; it relies on the
concentration of the solute that cannot pass through the membrane (Reece et al., 2014).A hypertonic
solution is when the solution has a higher concentration then the solute which causes the water to
move away from the cell which results in a shriveled cell. A hypotonic solution is when the solute has
a higher concentration than the solution which causes the cell to expand and swell (Mao, 2008).
Nevertheless an isotonic solution is when the concentration of the solute and solution are equal. The
category of the cell relies on the effect of osmosis on the cell. The hypotonic solution will take up
water if an animal cell is placed in the solution, which will cause it to swell, gets larger and eventually
lyse. For the Animal cells, leaning to die proceeded by failing in keeping water and shrinking are the
findings in the process of a hypertonic solution. Nonetheless, when a plant cell is placed in

Neuron Lab Report
Neurons or nerve cells come in all shapes and sizes however, they all do one thing. They transmit
information the way electrical wires or optic cables carry information. Neurons form the necessary
connection that makes the body go . Neurons consist primarily of two processes. One process is the
dendrites, they receive information from other neurons. The other process is the axon and they send
information or impulses out to other neurons, muscles or glands of the body. An unstimulated cell is
called the resting membrane potential. Each cell has positively charged ions outside of the cell and
negatively charged ions inside during this state. An action potential is a series of sudden changes in

In Activity 1 we set our hypothesis to find out the potential voltage difference across a cell that s at
rest. We used a computer to simulate explaining how the membrane is permeable more to potassium
than sodium due to potassium has more leak channels than sodium does. The cell maintains a stable
resting membrane thus the membrane is polarized. In Activity 2, our hypothesis is to find out how
stimulus modalities induce amplitude receptor potential. We used three sensory neurons. Pacinian
corpuscle had a resting potential of 70mv except a receptor potential of the biggest amplitude to
pressure. Olfactory receptor had an increase with chemical modality only. Heat, light and pressure this
receptor stayed in the resting membrane potential. The free nerve ending stayed in the resting
membrane potential except to heat. In Activity 3 our hypothesis was to find out how much stimulus
voltage would it take to cause an action potential? With our computer simulation, we started at 10 mv
with no action potential results. We increased to 20 mv and we had an action potential. Action
potentials are all or none. You could keep increasing voltage from this point on and continue to
achieve action potentials. In Activity 7 we are using a computer simulation. We have three fibers, all

  • 2. Historic Treaties And Its Effects On The Peoples Of This... INSERT SOMETHING ABOUT SOCIOLOGY PAPER. Historic treaties continue to be relevant in Canada today because ever since Christopher Columbus arrived to an undiscovered continent, he managed to employ detrimental consequences to the peoples of this land. The treaty was one of the colonial processes that would allow for the exploitation of the First Nations. Many Aboriginal Signatories to treaties understood the treaty agreements as being the foundation of a relationship with the Crown and that this relationship would be based on co existence versus the crown, creating them as a surrendering of the land with only small reserve retained, and limited hunting in those territories. These treaties are important today because they try to go about who has land claim to a certain area and they show that some treaties were compiled by the British with the poorer intentions of the Aboriginals. However, the documents and treaties that the British drafted and passed, would create a paper trail of vast amounts of exploitation. Treaties show prevalence today because they can demonstrate how convoluted the history of Canada s relationships with the Aboriginal peoples is. One factor that makes this history perplexing is trying to fathom who has claim to the lands that people stand on. Moreover, when the government was willing to substantiate what scheme they wanted to employ in order to solve the issue of cohabitation of the aboriginal peoples. Historically, in the fur trader era, it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firestone Essay A business that manufacturer s products or food product is aware that some problems may transpire, such as recalling the product due to various reasons, for example health concerns or for safety reasons. Still a plan, especially a good crisis plan, should be implemented to be able to handle any sorts of problems. Manufacturer companies also need to be ready to communicate the stakeholders and let them know that they come first. However, when a plan is not firmly established or is completely ignored, the company can jeopardize not only their reputation, but also loose financially, the way Firestone/Bridgestone and Ford Company had to undergo. They re being able to release high quality movie content and original shows that are being able to rival anything that is being made for theaters, Paul McFerron, Employee of the Branson Meadow s Cinema s, told me last week. McFerron, having worked at the cinema for over a year now, has noticed a slight decline in the attendance at the theater. Plus, if the film is in 3D, then you are looking at a 12 15 dollar ticket, and add however much you want with concessions. The prices are steep, and I understand why some people are passing on theaters. The option of being able to stay in the comfort of your own home is very appealing to people right now. Wadud sees that the sacred texts are not the problem source for the oppression that women experiencing under Islam, she believes that who interpreting them and how they were interpreted are the sources of the problem. Her book challenges the false concepts held by many Muslims (concepts that do not reflect Quran and Islam) such as: men are superior to women , men are in charge of women , men are natural leaders , men rule the family and should get obedience from women , women should not leave the house unless it is necessary , woman s voice is taboo , etc. The author breaks down specific verses and key words that have been used to oppress and limit women, to show that their real meaning defies such oppression and limitation. Wadud indicates that the misogynist notion regarding Islam was created by the patriarchal and frequently unpleasant society toward ladies; individuals in intense positions, similar to say, male religious pioneers, would have each motivation to translate the Qur an similarly. The Recession Of The United States Recession Recession is termed as a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters. Based on the complete recession that took place few important points that I could gather in specific considering each type of recession are listed below. How it took place? Causes for it and what impact it had on the audience. Let me discuss about this in brief. The recession of 1937 38 is usually known as the recession at intervals Depression. It came at a time once the recovery from the good Depression was aloof from complete and therefore the per centum was still terribly high. In fact, it had been a fatal natural event to the recovery. Real value fell 11 November and industrial production fell thirty second, creating it the third worst United States recession within the twentieth century (after 1929 32 and 1920 21). The recession is usually attributed to a adjustment of business enterprise and financial policy. Christina Romer (2009) has argued that it s relevant to today s scenario as a result of it illustrates the risks of a premature withdrawal of stimulant once the economy remains weak. But the recession remains somewhat of a mystery as a result of the 2 most often mentioned causes the reduction within the business enterprise deficit and also the Federal Reserve s call to double reserve needs don t seem to possess been powerful enough to get a recession of the magnitude seen. ... Many evidences show that Bonobo expresses its intelligence in the natural world. Bonobo is highly intelligence and physically similar to human ancestor. Bonobos were discovered in the forest along the Congo River in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1927. They are named as the pygmy chimpanzees because of the similarities in their physical traits with chimpanzees. A lot of people make the same mistake in recognizing Bonobo and Chimpanzee though they have the same height. However, Bonobo come with leaner body, smaller head and longer leg than Chimpanzee. Moreover, they physically feature as the closest primates to human who hold almost 98.6 percent of their DNA comparing with human.( http://www.nydailynews.com) Specifically, learning language indicates the most stunning ability about Bonobos intelligence. Human is regarded as the intelligence animal because we can use language which distinguishes us with others. Language covers many combinations of words such as grammars, sentences, phrases that only human can understand. Since I was a child, I usually thought that the world of animal had its own language that we did not know about it. In his Quintet for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola, and Cello Op. 115, Brahms creates an important and influential work in the chamber music repertoire. By writing his Quintet for the specific clarinetist Richard Mühlfeld s artistic brilliance, and by taking musical liberties with conventional forms and expectations, Brahms crafts the intimacy and seriousness one has come to expect from chamber music. Towards the end of his life, Brahms had intended on retiring from composing. Around 1891, the Meiningen orchestra, with whom Richard Mühlfeld held his career with, frequently featured Brahms s music at well known festivals in the area. The Joachim Quartet concerts were known for being a major series performing strictly string chamber music. Brahms had convinced Joachim with his manuscripts that the work was worthy of the sacrifice of adding clarinet and piano to the series. The highly regarded reputation of the Joachim concerts certainly allowed for the seriousness of the Quintet to be featured, for all of the cleaver composition techniques Brahms employed were certainly appreciated by the intellectual audiences the Quartet frequently attracted. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that audiences of the time have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first movement acts as a Sonata form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song form. The third and fourth movements begin to some unconventional practices. In the third, instead of a scherzo movement in 3/4 time, we get a sonata allegro in 4/4 and 2/4 time. In the fourth, the audience gets a theme and variations, but the tempo is considerably slower than what one would normally expect from a concluding movement. In 1891, the only memorable clarinet quintet was composed by Mozart. If one were to come into a performance of the Brahms Quintet with Mozart s Quintet in mind, they would expect the clarinet to take the most important role, with the strings accompanying more often than not. If there is inflation, stock markets are the worst affected. Relationship Between Inflation and the Stock Market There is no one to one correlation between the Stock Market and Inflation. Typically, most investors stay away from the stock market when inflation goes up. This is because prices of shares along with the prices of everything else go up without any corresponding increase in intrinsic value. Such a bull phase soon leads to a market correction due to many investors deciding to realise profits. Inflation and stock market the logistics: Prices of stocks are determined by the net earnings of a company. It depends on how much profit, the company is likely to make in the long run or the near future. If it is reckoned that a company is likely to do well in the years to come, the stock prices of the company will escalate. On the other hand, if it is observed from trends that the company may not do well in the long run, the stock prices will not be high. The Wife Of Bath And His Play With Gender Essay Amber Cohens Professor Robichaud Brit. literature 1 10/18/16 The Wife of Bath and his play with Gender (Feminist and or Misogynist) Like most of literature, The Wife of Bath can be read in multiple perspectives. Within The Wife of Bath, it can be read as feministic and or misogynistic. Chaucer projects his views towards feminism through the wife and her views and attitudes. Many literary critics explored the feministic views of The Wife of Bath. She is a strongminded and dominant woman who knows exactly what she wants and doesn t need a man to achieve such unless in regards to sexual behaviors but one must examine the definition of feminism and this is not it. A feminist is someone who believes that women and men are equal. Which leads the reader to wonder if Chauncer is playing upon genders or maybe even confused. Alisson, also known as the wife of Bath is a renowned character of Chauncer. She is blunt and open and offers the readers a modern outlook on a woman s place in male controlled society. Most crown her as one of the first feminist due to her stand against being portrayed as the wikked wyves (Chaucer 685) as she is described by the male characters in the tale. Still one can notice the contradictions between what the Wife of Bath has acknowledged throughout the tale and her behavior. So What is Chaucer really trying to say about the women of that time? Does Chauncer really belong to the Feminist bunch or not? David Reid discusses chauncers confused outlook on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Francis has done an excellent job of using the screenplay to demonstrate the last evil, which is madness: the dehumanizations of oneself. Right before the crew lands, one of the crew members dropped an acid tab. Francis uses that one line to create the screenplay for the whole sequence. In the first moments, the Camera captures hazy dark scenes of the bridge, with shadows lurking around, and bright colorful Christmas lights around the bridge. Francis makes this scene look as it was a circus, with vague distorted music in the background, and flashes of light to see the characters faces. This creates a window into what we see the soldiers experience we get, utter madness. Once the crew members descend into the trenches we see very weird and out of place shots. The first film shot is a group of black soldiers listening to Jimi Hendrix and smoking pot. The Jimi Hendrix back sound is also supposed to represent what the crew member that dropped acid is hearing and feeling. Coincidentally, Francis is also portraying his acid trip externally with the vivid lights, and explosions. The next stop in the trench, there s a soldier firing into darkness thinking that he s shooting at the enemy but it s really his own troops. This principle is divided into two classifications: diffusion and osmosis. A hypotonic solution is when the solute has a higher concentration than the solution which causes the cell to expand and swell (Mao, 2008). Nevertheless an isotonic solution is when the concentration of the solute and solution are equal. The category of the cell relies on the effect of osmosis on the cell. The other process is the axon and they send information or impulses out to other neurons, muscles or glands of the body. An unstimulated cell is called the resting membrane potential.
