Romantic Love Essay
Romantic Love Inflicts Harm
Love is an interesting concept. Wikipedia describes love as a variety of different emotional and mental
states, typically strongly experienced (Dictionary.com). Romeo and Juliet, written by Shakespeare,
portrays the illogical choices that may be made when in love. Another source explains how love is
addicting in the poem The Raven written by Edgar Allen Poe. The Gift of the Magi depicts people
who mistake love for lust. The force of romantic love inflicts harm on many because it persuades
lovers to make irrational decisions, it is negatively addictive, and many cannot differentiate love
versus lust.
Irrational decisions are made daily; however, specific and dramatic examples are shown in the play

In the poem The Raven , addiction is a prominent theme. It is shown in lines 82 and 83 when the
widower is asking for Respite respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore; / Quaff oh quaff
this nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore... (Poe). If one is asking for a fictional medicine that would
dissolve their depression, then they are enamored with something harmful. Specifically in this poem,
the widow is drunk on memories of Lenore and wishes to be free; however, he is devoted to his lost
love and therefore will never become independent. Another example of co dependence is portrayed
later in the poem. Poe writes, By heaven that bends above us by that God we both adore / Tell this soul
with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn, / It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels
name Lenore ... (92 94). The man is so obsessed with his partner, that he asks if he will see her in
Aidenn, which is heaven. . When someone is in love with another, then spending time together is
normal; however, when the romantic relationship is over, the people have to get over their loss. This
man is addicted to Lenore because he is unable to move on from her and the memories made together.
On the topic of differences, lust and love are opposites. And although it may seem simple to
differentiate the two, many are not able to figure out the differences between the two types of

Improving The Current State Of Healthcare
In Pocahontas county West Virginia, tourism is the primary source of income for many, and the driver
of the economy due to the abundance of outdoor recreation available year round. Pocahontas
Memorial Hospital (PMH) is established to be a primary care source for this rural community, serving
approximately 5% of the state s population, with only a 25 bed facility (Pocahontas Memorial
Hospital, 2013). PMH wishes to deliver compassionate care and promote healthy lifestyles through
working collaboratively with other healthcare facilities, and delivering adequate patient education,
while sustaining financial viability (Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, 2016a). This organization has

There are other clinics located throughout Pocahontas county, encompassing a total of only sixteen
providers of similar specialty to care for a population of approximately nine thousand (Pocahontas
Memorial Hospital, 2013). The Pocahontas Health Needs Assessment (2013) determined that
consumers of this underserved region are specifically in need of services such as obstetrics and
gynecologic care, mammography, PAP tests, MRI, non emergency transportation, dialysis, pediatrics,
extended dental care to include crowns and extractions, colonoscopy, orthopedics, and ophthalmology.
Although the population of the county has decreased over the last ten years by roughly 4%, the
quickest growing population is that of those residents age 65 or older (Pocahontas Memorial Hospital,
2013). There is indication that the need for such specific services in order to keep residents out of the
hospital for non emergent needs, or from traveling for care, is imperative at this time.
Determining the feasibility of this type of project will require the evaluation of various factors, which
can generally be summed up by completing a market and SWOT analysis. Currently, Pocahontas
Memorial Hospital (PMH) is pursuing a strategic initiative which includes determining if developing a
satellite clinic within Pocahontas County is not only conceivable but also enduring (CSU Global,
2016a). These analyses shall be completed as part of the assessment period, guiding the Board of

Three Career In Nursing
Three Career Research These are the three careers I will focus on; Human Resource Manager,
Registered Nurse, and Dietitian. Each career will have a description of what they do, how they could
become one, skills, salary, and more. Each career has a specific reason why I choose these three
careers in particular. Reason why I choose Human Resource Manager is that I m currently pursuing
Human Resource Development major at Northeastern Illinois University. My second career choice is
Registered Nurse because nursing was my first major straight out of high school. Dietician is my third
career choice because I always had a passion to learn about eating healthy. First career researched I
will focus on is Human Resource Manager. Human Resource ... Show more content on

I was able to learn that I can become an HR by majoring in other fields such as finance and
information technology. Realistically nurse and dietician wouldn t work out for me due to the amount
of science classes that needs to be taken. I know from experience I m not able to be a nurse. I realize
that dietician doesn t have as much opportunity as nurses and Human Resource Managers. I have a
lack in few skills (critical thinking skills, detail oriented, emotional stability) to become a nurse or
dietician. I have all the necessary skills to become an HR such as decision making skills, leadership
skills, speaking skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. Two of my career values are
helping others and to influence others. I believe all the careers had a value of helping others and
influencing others. Nurses help patients. Dietician helps clients to make informed food choices, about
the foods they eat. My most important need is work life balance and stability. Work life balance is
having a job that allows time for family and work. Stability is having a job that won t change over a
long period of time. This is important to me because I care spending time with my family and friends.
I want stability because I value staying in one facility longer than moving around to other facilities.
My values can satisfy my needs and I feel happy when I get an opportunity helping others. All three

Blast Hole Deviation Essay
1.0 Introduction
In underground hard rock mining, drill and blast continues to be the dominant method of fragmenting
rock. Blast hole deviation is an inevitable yet undesirable outcome of small diameter, long hole
drilling. The objective of drill and blast is to unlock a targeted volume of rock for removal and further
downstream processing. However, if poor drill hole accuracy is observed, outcomes may be
significantly different to that which are planned and expected, resulting in additional cost and time
implications. A hole is considered to have deviated if it has not been collared at the correct location,
has not followed the projected path or has not broken through at the intended position (Kangwa,
2000). Underground mining uses a cyclical methodology with repetitive steps carried out on a daily
basis. As drill and blast is the first stage of extraction, the accuracy of this step can significantly
impact the cost of downstream operations including secondary drilling, mucking, transportation,
ground control, milling, development requirements and crew requirements (Corcoran, n.d.). This
report intends to investigate the common sources of drill hole deviation, address the cost and design
implications of poor drill accuracy and outline control measures that may be effective in reducing
blast hole deviation. Different drilling technologies will also be examined to understand their impact
on drilling accuracy.

Latin Music Thesis
Growing up in Arizona where the Hispanic culture is so vibrant and plentiful, I have spent much time
surrounded by the rich music of their people, and have had that ingrained into my mind as what Latin
music is since I was a child. That same sentiment can be shared by much of the west coast, yet if one
were to ask someone on the east coast or Midwest what Latin music is, their answers will all differ.
This is because Latin music is not one dimensional, nor is it only in reference to the Spanish
influences to said music, but in actuality encompasses the entire Latin experience and accounts for
many geographical locations and differences. The Latin music genre has grown and adapted to how
society has changed overtime to include newer subcultures of music within the genre itself in order to
produce never before seen fusions and styles that lead the way for ground breaking movements. Being
born in the late 1990s, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing The Truth About Leadership By James Kouzes And...
We have all been leaders and followers throughout history and our lives. When we were young we
followed those in leadership roles and as adults many of us have not only followed but also lead. The
question will remain as to why we want to follow some and abide to follow others. What does one
person have that the others do not that makes one want to conform to what that leader is selling?
James Kouzes and Barry Posner, the authors of The Truth About Leadership: The No Fads, Heart of
the Matter Facts You Need to Know uncover statistical and informational facts about leadership that
would benefit those seeking knowledge and those seeking informational skills needed to be a better
leader. This book is full of information that would benefit not only the new leaders but also the
seasoned ones that are willing to learn. Kouzes and Posner combine years of experience and statistics
to back up what they are conveying in this book. As they gathered their data regarding leadership, they
discovered that there were 10 patterns that kept emerging as the truths about leadership. I will attempt
to bring to the reader the 10 patterns or concepts regarding great leadership.
Concept Truth1: You Make a Difference
This concept may be one of the most important in my opinion. You have to believe that you are a
leader before you can actually be an effective leader. One has to believe you can make a difference.

Repeat Entrepreneurs Case Study Essay
Introduction This paper will examine whether repeat entrepreneurs search for opportunities differently
than entrepreneurs who found only one company. Before examining the case for or against this theory,
a brief discussion what makes up an entrepreneur opens this paper. From there it moves into a brief
discussion of Howard Stevenson and his importance within the field of study of entrepreneurism.
Then the focus turns to a case for or against whether repeat entrepreneurs search for opportunities
differently than entrepreneurs who found only one company. To emphasize the findings discussed, a
brief case study of a successful entrepreneur hopes to reinforce the concepts discussed. The paper will

A Case Against
Repeat entrepreneurs know they have the ability to identify an opportunity and turn that opportunity
into a business. In most cases, they have already done it at least once. Unfortunately, this does not
mean that the first business was a success or that they will be able to repeat the success the first
business may have had. In fact, if the first business was a failure, there are indications that the second
business may fail as well. Recent research shows that instead of learning from mistakes, entrepreneurs
are just as apt to be overoptimistic after failure as before. Their overoptimism remains undimmed by
failure (Ucbasaran, Westhead Wright, 2011). This overoptimism can cause an entrepreneur to take on
risky opportunities, fail to properly plan for the unforeseen or waste financial resources instead of
looking for and finding the right opportunity.
Successful entrepreneurs looking to become repeat entrepreneurs may incorrectly over focus on
recreating their success that ideas for future opportunities are not as strong as the previous ones.
Where the first opportunity an entrepreneur pursued may have grown from an organic problem solving
process, repeat entrepreneurs may look to duplicate that success instead of taking the time to grow into
another opportunity as organically as the first. The greatest, and more crucial, challenge

How To Play Softball
Softball is a sport that has gotten more competitive and popular over the years. Today there is two
types of softball, slow pitch and fast pitch. Softball was created when a group of college kids wanted a
sport that was similar to baseball but you could play it indoors. When softball continued to grow in
number the sport moved to indoor facilities and small outdoor fields. Baseball and softball are very
similar but in softball the ball is bigger, the bats are larger in diameter, and the pitch is threw
underhand. Also, in softball the field is smaller, the cases are closer together, and the pitcher is closer
to home plate. In softball there are different positions you can play to be effect in the field. There is

The Similarities and Differences between American Federalism and Indian Federalism
Being the largest democratic countries in the world, both United States and India are based on
federalism in their political structure. US became a Federal Republic State by promulgating its
constitution in the year1789; whereas India became a Socialist, Sovereign, Secular, Democratic
Republic by formally launching its constitution only in the year 1950.Thereby both countries had

5)Powers of Checks and Balances:
Though there exists a clear cut division of labor known as separation of powers into executive,
legislature and judiciary in both countries, still there is a threat. to democracy. A strong and dynamic
leadership at the helm of powers as the executive and acting with unlimited powers may lead to
arbitrariness. After all power corrupts power; absolute power corrupts absolutely; in the result
democracy may become a laughing stock and virtually unworkable. Hence, in order to prevent
unwieldy growth of any one of these three divisions, a fantastic mechanism known as powers of
checks and balances has been maintained in both countries. In other words, each division of power is
somehow or other checked and controlled by other divisions of power.
In the US, the President as the chief executive power appoints his members of Kitchen Cabinet and he
is the Supreme Commander in Chief of Army,Navy and the Air Force. He appoints the Chief Justice of
the Supreme Court of the US. He enters into treaties with other countries. However, his treaties must
be approved by the House of Senate.Otherwise, the treaty will not come into force. Though President
Woodrow Wilson was the chief architect of the League of Nations that came into being after the first
world war,US could not become a member of it since the House of Senate did not approve it.Thus
important policy decisions must be necessarily approved by the House of Senate, which

and teachers who work to educate. Of these factors, perhaps one of the most important is in the area of
classroom behavior and behavior management. Behavior management is such an important aspect in
this field that teachers often highlight the frustration of dealing with bad students and bad behaviors as
a leading cause of leaving the profession (Reinke, Herman, Stormont, 2013). Taking on the task of

As mentioned the focus of much of the current research is on identifying those factors that individuals
within education feel are most important to the successful implementation and sustainment of an
effective SWPBIS program. Factors that have been found through the various research to be most
important include administrator support, confidence in SWPBIS, and proper application of data
(Bambara, Goh, Kern, Caskie, 2012; Mathews, McIntosh, Frank, May, 2014; McIntosh, Predy, Upreti,
Hume, Turri, Mathews, 2014; McIntosh, Sterett, Hume, Frank, Turri, Mathews, 2013). Studies have
hypothesized that these factors would be seen singled out as having the biggest impacts. These beliefs
tended to play out within the results of the studies. Administrative support in the form of a strong
school principle and staff buy in were seen to be instrumental in the implementation of a solid
program by the educators who agreed to be surveyed (McIntosh, et al., 2014). The findings showing
that school personnel believe that having a strong school principle who provides for and supports the
use of SWPBIS tends to make sense when viewed from the perspective of leadership. Schools where
staff believe the principle to have strong and effecitve leadership skills score significantly higher
results in student behavior outcomes when SWPBIS is being implemented

Not a large one but hollowed... (Munro, 254), this helps readers identify that the narrator is looking
back into the past, their childhood. Memory is the empowering representation of human existence and
the basis of how our mental life is shaped. She states that there many memories she recalls and many
that she assumes to understand with no certainty. As the narrator discusses her own memories, she is
in the process of resolving the conflicts and contradictions she believes is related to Caro s death. The
narrator remembers the accident taking place due to her lack of concern and therefore she puts herself
at fault. Psychologically it is possible to form a memory that is misread or misinterpreted, and
likewise this is what the professional the narrator had met to deal with her grief had tried to convince
her with. The professional, possibly a grief councillor, had provided her with a scenario where she was
incapable of opening the door, resulting to Caro s death. The narrator was satisfied with this
conclusion just for a while till she returned to her observation of the memory. Her guilt lied in the
factual matter of not doing anything to help her sister; realistically as a child she was convinced that
Caro would save herself since dogs did not need saving from bodies of water. Memory here describes
an individual s struggle to recollect the past and with being conscious to those memories

Symbolism In Lord Of The Glies In William Golding s Lord...
In Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses the conch to enforce that without proper leadership, people
become more prone to be disorganized and power hungry. The conch initially serves as a tool for the
prosperity of the boys. Yet, over time, the conch loses it s value, leading to the boys living in a
disorganized society and causing some to strive for power. The effectiveness of the conch continues
on the same downward spiral and eventually becomes obsolete, as the boys fight for the right to rule
each other. When the boys reach the island, the conch is viewed as a symbol of power and acts as a
tool to organize the boys. When the conch is first discovered by Ralph and Piggy on the beach, Piggy
identifies the strange looking object in the sand and exclaims A conch he called it. On someone s back

(18). Upon the conch s discovery, the boys are clearly enthralled with it, displaying their intentions to
use the conch to call attention and create order. At this early stage of the story, some of the boys are
concerned with using tools that symbolize power and creating a society that has a strong structure. It
was understood between the boys that the conch was a tool to allow for cooperation and
understanding. Moments later, Piggy states that the boys can use this to call the others. They ll come

The Main Features And Characteristics Of A Slum
A slum is a heavily populated urban informal settlement characterized by substandard housing and
squalor. While slums differ in size and other characteristics, most lack reliable sanitation services,
supply of clean water, reliable electricity, law enforcement and other basic services. Slum residences
vary from shanty houses to professionally built dwellings that because of poor quality construction or
provision of services have deteriorated into slums.
Main features and characteristics of the slums are poor connectivity to the main city, lack of proper
sanitation conditions and lack of electricity and are densely populated and generally have a very high
occupancy rate. Slums are usually characterized by urban breeding grounds for social ... Show more

The Indian Supreme Court has also recognized the right to water and proper sanitation conditions
under the right to life provision of its constitution. Hence according to the above said statements, the
rights of the people living in the slum areas are often violated and are often hampered also.
A UN expert group has created an operational definition of a slum as an area that combines to various
extents the following characteristics: inadequate access of safe water; inadequate access to sanitation
and other infrastructure; poor structural quality of housing; overcrowding; and insecure residential
status. To these one might add the low socioeconomic status of residents of these areas.
The problem of slums have started because of excess migration of people from the rural areas to the
urban areas and when the people who have migrated do not get proper place to settle down and live,
the settlement of the slum areas (mostly in the outer parts of the city) takes place. But the settlements
in these slums are not proper and lack basic facilities of sanitation, electricity, connection to the roads,

The Fight For Fur Essay
The Fight For Fur Not knowing what you could catch the next day is one of the greatest feelings in the
world. Trapping has been in America as long as we became a county it was once a very profitable way

because it is a great population control task. According the People for the Ethical Treatment of

the animals sometime chewing their own paw off to free themselves. The list goes on and on about the
different types of traps used and them all being inhumane causing pain and damage to the animal. I

The Humble Comma
In Pico Iyer s essay, In Praise of the Humble Comma , the author examines the importance of
punctuation in language. He specifically points out the use of the comma in writing and how it lacks
respect. Even though it is such a small thing, the comma helps convey different emotions, maintain
structure, and creates fluidity. He shows that punctuation is needed to understand a writer s meaning
and the overall message trying to be conveyed. He tries to persuade his audience to appreciate and to
understand the grace and beauty of punctuation, especially the comma. Iyer uses comparisons,
personification, metaphors, and imagery, to stress the value of punctuation.
Iyer uses different kind of comparisons to underline the necessity of punctuation. He compares the
comma to small things such as jewelry and to large thing such as God, to show the significance of it in
everyday life. Iyer implies that punctuation is the most important part of language, without actually
stating it. In first paragraph, he compares the comma to the gods, because just like them, the comma
gives and takes away breath. The gods can create humans and give them breath, but also can kill
humans and take away their breath. Iyer states, The gods, they say, ... Show more content on

to raise our voices . Just like the notation in a piece of music, punctuation creates fluidity and helps

Music without notation is music without its true passion and soul. He finishes describing the metaphor
by using auditory imagery. He says that punctuation, sores the music in our minds, gets our thoughts
moving to the rhythm of our hearts. By using detailed imagery, Iyer evokes a feeling of joy and

King Jr Dream
Martin Luther King Jr.: Who Was He? If you can t fly, then run, if you can t run, then walk, if you can
t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward. ( King ) This quote is true
because if we never move forward and only go back or stay put, then we never achieve our goals in
life. I believe that we need to live out this quote of Martin Luther King. He had a dream and his dream
inspired many, encouraged peace, and we, as students, teachers, and parents, still play a role in living
out his dream in our lives today. There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe,
nor political, nor popular, but he must take it because his conscious tells him it s right. is a quote I
believe Dr. King lived by most of his life. He was bullied as a kid because of his race and skin color,
but he always pulled through. As he got older, he became an inspiration in the colored community. He

they had to give up their seat to a white person then either go sit in the back of the bus or stand. By

Types Of Construction Artificial Intelligence
Many people today are excited at the thought of machines that can work as if they were human. Pure
fascination is driven by the idea of technology that is far beyond the average person s mind. This
intelligence being created can do monotonous jobs significantly faster than the average worker, go
places that are hard to reach, and think better and faster compared to humans. Businesses are thrilled
at the prospect of cutting down on their biggest cost, labor, and getting jobs done quickly and more
efficiently. But for the common, middle class, blue collar worker, it could mean a loss of wages and a
forced cross training into another field. In the wake of this extraordinary Artificial Intelligence within
the construction industry, there are winners and losers.
Types of Construction Artificial Intelligence Within the construction industry, Artificial Intelligence
(AI) is beginning to take jobsites by storm. If someone were to walk onto a jobsite today, someone in
that location would be using AI. Current uses of AI today span from mobile technology that
supervision uses to man a jobsite to an actual robot pouring concrete or welding a pipe. With the
technology improvements being made daily, there will be a day few people will consist of the
workforce on the job, and the rest will be some sort of robotics. Among the Artificial Intelligence
being used or that will be the future are: Drones/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), SAM (Semi
Automated Mason), robotic welding, Autonomous TMA

Mediterranean Diet Essay
Introduction In our world today, dementia is a rising problem in the elderly population. This study
aims to find if the Mediterranean diet (MeDi) lowers the risk of developing degenerative diseases such
as dementia, or if it prevents cognitive decline. There have been many previous cohort studies that
have researched the correlation between the MeDi and chronic diseases. However; research
determining how exactly nutrients consumed with the MeDi affect cognition and the possible
development of dementia has yet to be completed. This study intends to specifically look at how five
individual cognitive functions and dementia are impacted as one ages, by varying levels of adherence
to the MeDi. The researchers recorded the subjects intake of the MeDi based on a priori; which is a
questionnaire that lets the researchers know the subjects eating habits and exactly what food groups
and macronutrients they are consuming to accurately find the affects they yield in the brain. Clinical
neuropsychologists evaluated each participant for thorough cognitive results, to gain the most in depth
conclusions possible Subjects The subjects for this study were adults of 64 years of age and over, from
a previous study called the Hellenic Longitudinal Investigation of Ageing and Diet (HELIAD). All ...

Comparing Bob Marley s Life And Music
Bob Marley Music is life, music is value, music means everything to race, family nation. All of that
can get to the soul, saving peoples life even. Bob Marley gave us all of that, he was an inspiration to
everybody. Gaining confidence while giving it. He was unique with his music, taking words from the
streets he was from while focusing on the difficulties of black people worldwide. This man gave us
confidence and got us to look at the world in a different way and that right there is why we should
recognize Bob Marley for everything he done. Bob would forever remain the unique product, with his
poetic worldview as well as his music by the tough ghetto streets. His overnight smash played an
important role in Jamaican music circles. Which made it possible for him to write raw for and about
people of the west Indian slums. In 1970 Marley s ongoing distillation of reggae forms blossomed into
and electrifying rock influenced many people that made him an international superstar. Bob

Philosophical Basis of Education
INTRODUCTION
In this unit we will discuss the inter dependence of philosophy and education. After discussing the
impact of philosophy on education and vice versa, we will describe briefly the different schools of
philosophy viz. Naturalism, Idealism and Pragmatism, and their implications for education in
curriculum, role of the teacher and the nature of discipline. While explaining the ideas advocated by
different schools of philosophy on above concepts, this unit will also incorporate the views of both
Western as well as Indian thinkers.
PHILOSOPHY, EDUCATION AND THEIR INTER DEPENDENCE
The inter dependence of philosophy and education is clearly seen from the fact that the great
philosphers of all times have also been great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Educational philosophy depends on formal philosophy because most of the major problems of
education are in fact philosophical problems. Like general philosophy, educational philosophy is
speculative, prescriptive critical or analytic.
NATURALISM AND EDUCATION
Naturalism as a philosophy of education was developed in the 18th century. It is based on the
assumpiion that nature represents the wholeness of reality. Nature, itself, is a total system that contains
and explains all existence including human beings and human nature. According to naturalists the
material and the physical world is govered by certain laws, and man, who is the creator of the material
world, must submit to it. It denies the existence of anything beyond nature, behind nature and other
than nature such as supernaturalism.
In terms of epistemology or theory of knowledge, naturalists highlight the value of scientific
knowledge. Francis Bacon emphasizes the inductive method for acquiring the scientific knowledge
through specific observation, accumulation and generalisation. He also lays emphasis on the empirical
and experimental knowledge. Naturalists also lay stress on sensory training as senses are the gateways
to learning.
To naturalists, values arise from the human beings interaction with the environment. Instincts. drives
and impulses need to be expressed rather than repressed. According to them, there is no absolute good
or evil in the world. Values of life are created by

CHAPTER TWO
CONCEPTUAL, LEGAL AND REGULATORY FRAMEWORK GOVERNING CROSS BORDER
MOBILE TRANSACTIONS
2.1 Introduction
This chapter discusses the conceptual framework governing cross border mobile transaction taking
into consideration all the players and stakeholders involved in the transfer. It further expresses the role
of the Bank of Tanzania and Central Bank of Kenya in regulating National payment systems as well as
the role played by Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority and Communication Authority of
Kenya in regulating mobile Number Operators.
2.2 Cross Border Mobile Transfer and Stakeholders Involved
Cross border mobile enviroment has a number of stakeholder who ensutres the functionability from
cross border mobile transactions. They include mobile network operators(MNO),banking and financial
institutions. Parties involved in the mobile money transfer has widened because the new laws requires
a licenced payment provider to open and maintain a trust account and to open and maintain a special
account. this means that the banks have now been included in the mobile payment envinroment
because the funds of the customers are now stored in the banks.

My Msc Specialist Community Public Health
I am completing this ethics submission as part of my Msc Specialist Community Public Health Nurse/
School Nursing. This course has further increased my professional interest as a School Nurse, in
obesity and the impact this has on the individual as well as society. Given this is a continuing problem
despite various government interventions I would like to explore whether school nurses have a role to
play in childhood obesity.
Background
If current trends continue unchanged by 2034 one in three people will be obese (Public Health
England) (PHE 2014). Society has normalised being overweight with obesity increasing throughout a
person s life span (PHE 2014). The National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) data has shown
that there is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The estimated cost to society and the economy stood at £16 billion in 2007 with a potential rise to
about £50 billion by 2050. An estimated £2.6 billion of this is attributed to lost earnings due to obesity
(DH 2011).
It is now accepted that every aspect of our lives impacts on our health and vice versa (Linsley, Kane
and Owen 2011, Dahlgren and Whitehead 1991, PHE 2014), (Fig:1).Although the health service can
not alter this epidemic single handed it needs to work in partnership and create a community wide
approach to tackling obesity (NHS 2014, PHE 2014). By adopting a proactive rather than a reactive
approach we may be able to impact on future data (PHE 2014). 12 years ago Derek Wanless warned
that unless the country takes prevention seriously there would be a sharp rise in the burden of
unavoidable illness (NHS 2014). This warning was not heeded, and now it is acknowledged to create
the best outcomes for children s health, the sustainability of the NHS and the economic prosperity of
Britain there needs to be a radical upgrade in prevention and public health (NHS 2014).

someone asks me what I want to be when i grow up, I used to make up stories or tell them what am
interested in. My interests changed by the way how I think about who I am and my capabilities. As a

“Your Arkansas Traveler” Is A Short Story Detailing The
Your Arkansas Traveler is a short story detailing the rise and fall of a charismatic but egotistical radio
host named Lonesome Rhodes. It was adapted into a feature length film titled A Face in the Crowd,
which remains quite faithful to the original work but expands greatly upon it by adding or altering
several main events.
Your Arkansas Traveler is told in a first person perspective by a radio hostess named Marcia. While
Marcia is witty and somewhat sarcastic, the deuteragonist of the story and foil to Marcia, Lonesome
Rhodes is very blunt in his speech and quite unstable throughout the story.
Marcia sits in her apartment reading Lonesome s fan mail when she receives a phone call from a
woman claiming to be Lonesome s wife. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, there is quite a lot of evidence to support the idea that Lonesome may suffer
from a mental illness such as psychopathy. Psychopaths are often incredibly charming, manipulative
individuals who lack empathy. Earlier in the story, Lonesome attempts to convince Marcia to marry
him by threating to commit suicide if she declines. This tactic is often used by abusive individuals
who are attempting to convince an abused individual to stay in a relationship with them. Furthermore,
Lonesome also has an extremely inflated ego, another major indicator of psychopathy.
Lonesome s wife states that she wants three thousand dollars a month before she will divorce
Lonesome, threatening to make Lonesome and Marcia s lives harder should he decline her offer.
Marcia suggests that Lonesome and his wife sort the divorce out between themselves, and Lonesome s
wife provides further evidence to support that Lonesome suffers from psychopathy by stating that he
begins and ends relationships in quick succession, which is an indicator of psychopathy. Having had
enough of Lonesome s wife, Marcia escorts her out of her apartment.
Your Arkansas Traveler was adapted into a film titled A Face in the Crowd. Though it remains quite
faithful the work it is based on, it expands upon Lonesome s rise to fame. Another noteworthy change
is the perspective, which is changed from first person in the short story to third person in the film.

Analysis Of The Second Sex By De Beauvoir
The Second Sex is a piece of literature that criticizes society, especially men for oppressing women.
De Beauvoir believes that men limit women to their privileges by characterizing them as objects.
Furthermore, Beauvoir sees that in society while men are considered dominant, and important,
women, on the other hand, are considered, irrelevant, and insignificant. The main reason why woman
are viewed this way is due to the roles they have in society. Their whole life they must appease to their
husband s commands and perform household responsibilities. The Second Sex highlights the vast
imbalanced roles calling out what is wrong in society. De Beauvoir questions why an entire half of the
human population is being discriminated against. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have already pointed out that what Freud calls the Electra complex is not, as he supposes, a sexual
desire (De Beauvoir, 287). De Beauvoir believes the daughter to husband relationship is not a sexual
desire instead that if the father shows the daughter love she will feel like she belongs in society, she
will become more confident as it will give her a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.
Another text that criticizes society because of the oppression of women is Sula by Toni Morrison.
However, Morrison takes a different approach as she does not explicitly say her purpose of her writing
nor point out any flaws in society. Instead, she results to mimicry to prove her point. Morrison in her
writing uses two characters: Nel and Sula. Morrison states, Because each had discovered years before
that they were neither white nor male, and that all freedom and triumph was forbidden to them, they
had to set about creating something else (Morrison, 51). Sula and Nel at an early age of 12 realized
that because they are neither white nor male, for most of their lives they will experience
discrimination and be denied freedom in their community. Here Morrison is trying to show just how
easy it was to identify even to young kids how African American women were oppressed in
communities. Sula was determined to not conform to her community s expectations. However, Nel
decides to still follow the path of the

regarding this famous neck wound are all over the place and an awful awful awful MESS! Here it is.
On 1 11 78, Perry told the HSCA that I thought it [the neck wound] looked like an entrance wound
because it was so small. The next year he told researcher Robert Groden that the bootlegged autopsy
photos were not as he remembered them to be: his trach was neater , and not the larger, expanded one
seen in the pictures. When interviewed in 1979, he still maintained that the bullet had entered the
President s throat from the front... The same year, Perry told Harrison Livingstone: My whole

The same year, he told Gerald Posner that As the press is wont to do, they took my statement at the
press conference out of context. I did say it looked like an entrance wound since it was small, but I
qualified it by saying that I did not know where the bullets came from. I wish now that I had not
speculated. Everyone ignored my qualification. It was a small wound, slightly ragged at the edges, and
could have been an exit or entrance. Furthermore, he told Posner: I did the procedure. The photos I
have seen look like the opening I remember making. In a 5 16 94 response letter to Brad Parker, Perry
wrote: Recollection immediately after an event is likely to be more accurate (although often wrong)
than when made 30 years later... And finally, in a 1998 audiotaped interview with Mark Oates, Perry
said: It was small, like an entrance wound (said this four times) but they took it out of context...It

  • 2. Romantic Love Essay Romantic Love Inflicts Harm Love is an interesting concept. Wikipedia describes love as a variety of different emotional and mental states, typically strongly experienced (Dictionary.com). Romeo and Juliet, written by Shakespeare, portrays the illogical choices that may be made when in love. Another source explains how love is addicting in the poem The Raven written by Edgar Allen Poe. The Gift of the Magi depicts people who mistake love for lust. The force of romantic love inflicts harm on many because it persuades lovers to make irrational decisions, it is negatively addictive, and many cannot differentiate love versus lust. Irrational decisions are made daily; however, specific and dramatic examples are shown in the play Romeo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem The Raven , addiction is a prominent theme. It is shown in lines 82 and 83 when the widower is asking for Respite respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore; / Quaff oh quaff this nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore... (Poe). If one is asking for a fictional medicine that would dissolve their depression, then they are enamored with something harmful. Specifically in this poem, the widow is drunk on memories of Lenore and wishes to be free; however, he is devoted to his lost love and therefore will never become independent. Another example of co dependence is portrayed later in the poem. Poe writes, By heaven that bends above us by that God we both adore / Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn, / It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore ... (92 94). The man is so obsessed with his partner, that he asks if he will see her in Aidenn, which is heaven. . When someone is in love with another, then spending time together is normal; however, when the romantic relationship is over, the people have to get over their loss. This man is addicted to Lenore because he is unable to move on from her and the memories made together. On the topic of differences, lust and love are opposites. And although it may seem simple to differentiate the two, many are not able to figure out the differences between the two types of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Improving The Current State Of Healthcare In Pocahontas county West Virginia, tourism is the primary source of income for many, and the driver of the economy due to the abundance of outdoor recreation available year round. Pocahontas Memorial Hospital (PMH) is established to be a primary care source for this rural community, serving approximately 5% of the state s population, with only a 25 bed facility (Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, 2013). PMH wishes to deliver compassionate care and promote healthy lifestyles through working collaboratively with other healthcare facilities, and delivering adequate patient education, while sustaining financial viability (Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, 2016a). There are other clinics located throughout Pocahontas county, encompassing a total of only sixteen providers of similar specialty to care for a population of approximately nine thousand (Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, 2013). The Pocahontas Health Needs Assessment (2013) determined that consumers of this underserved region are specifically in need of services such as obstetrics and gynecologic care, mammography, PAP tests, MRI, non emergency transportation, dialysis, pediatrics, extended dental care to include crowns and extractions, colonoscopy, orthopedics, and ophthalmology. Although the population of the county has decreased over the last ten years by roughly 4%, the quickest growing population is that of those residents age 65 or older (Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, 2013). There is indication that the need for such specific services in order to keep residents out of the hospital for non emergent needs, or from traveling for care, is imperative at this time. Determining the feasibility of this type of project will require the evaluation of various factors, which can generally be summed up by completing a market and SWOT analysis. Currently, Pocahontas Memorial Hospital (PMH) is pursuing a strategic initiative which includes determining if developing a satellite clinic within Pocahontas County is not only conceivable but also enduring (CSU Global, 2016a). Each career will have a description of what they do, how they could become one, skills, salary, and more. Each career has a specific reason why I choose these three careers in particular. Reason why I choose Human Resource Manager is that I m currently pursuing Human Resource Development major at Northeastern Illinois University. My second career choice is Registered Nurse because nursing was my first major straight out of high school. Dietician is my third career choice because I always had a passion to learn about eating healthy. First career researched I will focus on is Human Resource Manager. Human Resource ... I realize that dietician doesn t have as much opportunity as nurses and Human Resource Managers. I have a lack in few skills (critical thinking skills, detail oriented, emotional stability) to become a nurse or dietician. I have all the necessary skills to become an HR such as decision making skills, leadership skills, speaking skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. Two of my career values are helping others and to influence others. I believe all the careers had a value of helping others and influencing others. Nurses help patients. Dietician helps clients to make informed food choices, about the foods they eat. My most important need is work life balance and stability. Work life balance is having a job that allows time for family and work. Stability is having a job that won t change over a long period of time. This is important to me because I care spending time with my family and friends. I want stability because I value staying in one facility longer than moving around to other facilities. My values can satisfy my needs and I feel happy when I get an opportunity helping others. All three careers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Blast Hole Deviation Essay 1.0 Introduction In underground hard rock mining, drill and blast continues to be the dominant method of fragmenting rock. Blast hole deviation is an inevitable yet undesirable outcome of small diameter, long hole drilling. The objective of drill and blast is to unlock a targeted volume of rock for removal and further downstream processing. However, if poor drill hole accuracy is observed, outcomes may be significantly different to that which are planned and expected, resulting in additional cost and time implications. A hole is considered to have deviated if it has not been collared at the correct location, has not followed the projected path or has not broken through at the intended position (Kangwa, 2000). Underground mining uses a cyclical methodology with repetitive steps carried out on a daily basis. As drill and blast is the first stage of extraction, the accuracy of this step can significantly impact the cost of downstream operations including secondary drilling, mucking, transportation, ground control, milling, development requirements and crew requirements (Corcoran, n.d.). This report intends to investigate the common sources of drill hole deviation, address the cost and design implications of poor drill accuracy and outline control measures that may be effective in reducing blast hole deviation. Different drilling technologies will also be examined to understand their impact on drilling accuracy. 2.0 Types of drill hole deviation As described by Singhal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Latin Music Thesis Growing up in Arizona where the Hispanic culture is so vibrant and plentiful, I have spent much time surrounded by the rich music of their people, and have had that ingrained into my mind as what Latin music is since I was a child. That same sentiment can be shared by much of the west coast, yet if one were to ask someone on the east coast or Midwest what Latin music is, their answers will all differ. This is because Latin music is not one dimensional, nor is it only in reference to the Spanish influences to said music, but in actuality encompasses the entire Latin experience and accounts for many geographical locations and differences. The Latin music genre has grown and adapted to how society has changed overtime to include newer subcultures of music within the genre itself in order to produce never before seen fusions and styles that lead the way for ground breaking movements. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A Case Against Repeat entrepreneurs know they have the ability to identify an opportunity and turn that opportunity into a business. In most cases, they have already done it at least once. Unfortunately, this does not mean that the first business was a success or that they will be able to repeat the success the first business may have had. In fact, if the first business was a failure, there are indications that the second business may fail as well. Recent research shows that instead of learning from mistakes, entrepreneurs are just as apt to be overoptimistic after failure as before. Their overoptimism remains undimmed by failure (Ucbasaran, Westhead Wright, 2011). This overoptimism can cause an entrepreneur to take on risky opportunities, fail to properly plan for the unforeseen or waste financial resources instead of looking for and finding the right opportunity. Successful entrepreneurs looking to become repeat entrepreneurs may incorrectly over focus on recreating their success that ideas for future opportunities are not as strong as the previous ones. Where the first opportunity an entrepreneur pursued may have grown from an organic problem solving process, repeat entrepreneurs may look to duplicate that success instead of taking the time to grow into another opportunity as organically as the first. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5)Powers of Checks and Balances: Though there exists a clear cut division of labor known as separation of powers into executive, legislature and judiciary in both countries, still there is a threat. to democracy. A strong and dynamic leadership at the helm of powers as the executive and acting with unlimited powers may lead to arbitrariness. After all power corrupts power; absolute power corrupts absolutely; in the result democracy may become a laughing stock and virtually unworkable. Hence, in order to prevent unwieldy growth of any one of these three divisions, a fantastic mechanism known as powers of checks and balances has been maintained in both countries. In other words, each division of power is somehow or other checked and controlled by other divisions of power. In the US, the President as the chief executive power appoints his members of Kitchen Cabinet and he is the Supreme Commander in Chief of Army,Navy and the Air Force. He appoints the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the US. He enters into treaties with other countries. As the narrator discusses her own memories, she is in the process of resolving the conflicts and contradictions she believes is related to Caro s death. The narrator remembers the accident taking place due to her lack of concern and therefore she puts herself at fault. Psychologically it is possible to form a memory that is misread or misinterpreted, and likewise this is what the professional the narrator had met to deal with her grief had tried to convince her with. The professional, possibly a grief councillor, had provided her with a scenario where she was incapable of opening the door, resulting to Caro s death. In Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses the conch to enforce that without proper leadership, people become more prone to be disorganized and power hungry. The conch initially serves as a tool for the prosperity of the boys. Yet, over time, the conch loses it s value, leading to the boys living in a disorganized society and causing some to strive for power. The effectiveness of the conch continues on the same downward spiral and eventually becomes obsolete, as the boys fight for the right to rule each other. When the boys reach the island, the conch is viewed as a symbol of power and acts as a tool to organize the boys. When the conch is first discovered by Ralph and Piggy on the beach, Piggy identifies the strange looking object in the sand and exclaims A conch he called it. On someone s back wall. A conch he called it. He used to blow it and then his mum would come. It s ever so valuable (18). Upon the conch s discovery, the boys are clearly enthralled with it, displaying their intentions to use the conch to call attention and create order. At this early stage of the story, some of the boys are concerned with using tools that symbolize power and creating a society that has a strong structure. Now many people are against it from personal beliefs of it being cruel to animals. Yet some people have it in their blood and it is a tradition for them making sure it will never die. Trapping is essential because it is an apart of our history, because it is humane and because it is a great population control task. According the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals under the page Cruel Wildlife Treatment. • 23. The Humble Comma In Pico Iyer s essay, In Praise of the Humble Comma , the author examines the importance of punctuation in language. He specifically points out the use of the comma in writing and how it lacks respect. Even though it is such a small thing, the comma helps convey different emotions, maintain structure, and creates fluidity. He shows that punctuation is needed to understand a writer s meaning and the overall message trying to be conveyed. He tries to persuade his audience to appreciate and to understand the grace and beauty of punctuation, especially the comma. Iyer uses comparisons, personification, metaphors, and imagery, to stress the value of punctuation. Iyer uses different kind of comparisons to underline the necessity of punctuation. He compares the comma to small things such as jewelry and to large thing such as God, to show the significance of it in everyday life. Iyer implies that punctuation is the most important part of language, without actually stating it. Background If current trends continue unchanged by 2034 one in three people will be obese (Public Health England) (PHE 2014). It is now accepted that every aspect of our lives impacts on our health and vice versa (Linsley, Kane and Owen 2011, Dahlgren and Whitehead 1991, PHE 2014), (Fig:1).Although the health service can not alter this epidemic single handed it needs to work in partnership and create a community wide approach to tackling obesity (NHS 2014, PHE 2014). By adopting a proactive rather than a reactive approach we may be able to impact on future data (PHE 2014). 12 years ago Derek Wanless warned that unless the country takes prevention seriously there would be a sharp rise in the burden of unavoidable illness (NHS 2014). Your Arkansas Traveler is told in a first person perspective by a radio hostess named Marcia. While Marcia is witty and somewhat sarcastic, the deuteragonist of the story and foil to Marcia, Lonesome Rhodes is very blunt in his speech and quite unstable throughout the story. This tactic is often used by abusive individuals who are attempting to convince an abused individual to stay in a relationship with them. Lonesome s wife states that she wants three thousand dollars a month before she will divorce Lonesome, threatening to make Lonesome and Marcia s lives harder should he decline her offer. • 35. Analysis Of The Second Sex By De Beauvoir The Second Sex is a piece of literature that criticizes society, especially men for oppressing women. De Beauvoir believes that men limit women to their privileges by characterizing them as objects. Furthermore, Beauvoir sees that in society while men are considered dominant, and important, women, on the other hand, are considered, irrelevant, and insignificant. The main reason why woman are viewed this way is due to the roles they have in society. Their whole life they must appease to their husband s commands and perform household responsibilities. The Second Sex highlights the vast imbalanced roles calling out what is wrong in society. De Beauvoir questions why an entire half of the human population is being discriminated against. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have already pointed out that what Freud calls the Electra complex is not, as he supposes, a sexual desire (De Beauvoir, 287). De Beauvoir believes the daughter to husband relationship is not a sexual desire instead that if the father shows the daughter love she will feel like she belongs in society, she will become more confident as it will give her a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Another text that criticizes society because of the oppression of women is Sula by Toni Morrison. However, Morrison takes a different approach as she does not explicitly say her purpose of her writing nor point out any flaws in society. Instead, she results to mimicry to prove her point. Morrison in her writing uses two characters: Nel and Sula. Morrison states, Because each had discovered years before that they were neither white nor male, and that all freedom and triumph was forbidden to them, they had to set about creating something else (Morrison, 51). Sula and Nel at an early age of 12 realized that because they are neither white nor male, for most of their lives they will experience discrimination and be denied freedom in their community.
