Boston Sweatshirt Descriptive Writing
After a very tiring day all visiting the city of Boston, it was time to go back to the hotel. We got to the
hotel and went to our rooms to get ready for the dinner cruise. A majority of the girls if not all of them,
decided to buy sweatshirts. Back in our hotel room, Ana was trying on her sweatshirt. I was unpacking
and all of the sudden I hear Ana say something to me. Can you help me? I can t get my sweatshirt over
my head. Sure, I replied. I got over and try to help Ana get the sweatshirt over her head. I was trying
to get it over her head when I realized something. The price tag is stuck inside the string attached to
your sweatshirt! Oh! Does anyone have a pair of scissors? Ana asked. We then came to the conclusion
that no one

Introduction:
Bangladeshi international trade is extremely small relative to the size of its population, although it
experienced accelerated growth during the last decade. It is not very diversified and depends on the
fluctuations of the international market. The Bangladeshi government struggles to attract export
oriented industries, removing red tape and introducing various financial and tax initiatives. Between

COMMERCIAL RELATIONS AND TRADE AGREEMENTS:
The foreign relations of Bangladesh are the Bangladeshi government s policies in its external relations
with the international community. The country pursues a moderate foreign policy that places heavy
reliance on multinational diplomacy, especially at the United Nations and World Trade Organization
(WTO). Since independence in 1971, the country has stressed its principle of friendship towards all,
malice towards none in dictating its diplomacy. In order to enhance trade, Bangladesh has associated

India and

Analysis Of Les Prludes S. 97
Les Préludes S.97 by Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 July 31, 1886) is the third of his thirteen
symphonic poems. The premiere took place at the Weimar Hoftheater on 23 February, 1854 under the
baton of Liszt for a benefit concert. The instrumentation consists in three flutes (third also piccolo),
two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, tuba, timpani,
snare drum, cymbals, bass drum, harp and strings. The year 1847 was the year where Liszt was
moving to Weimar to begin a new stage in his musical life, he took the decision to finish his career as
a pianist and begin to dedicate to the composition, besides, he met the Polish Princess Carolyne zu
Sayn Wittgenstein, that she impulse his career as a composer. He found the necessity to evolve the
music, and the way that he found was combining music with literature. In this essay I will discuss how
Les Préludes evolve the symphonic genre.
Mark Evans Bonds in Absolute Music discusses Liszt´s Program music. According with Bonds, Liszt
in his Harold essay, he distinguishes between ¬¬specifically musical composer and the composer
driven by an overarching poetic image or narrative. In program music, the recurrence, variation,
alteration, and modulation of motifs are determined by their relationship to a poetic idea. Liszt used
the new term to identify a repertory of instrumental music which through an evocative title, a verbal
program, or both, draws the listener´s attention in advance toward a specific object . Bonds analyses
the opinion of Liszt in his program music, how he tried to convince that program music is the next
step in music evolve, the necessity of break form rules to adequate the music into literature (in the
case of Liszt) and the fact that he was reinforcing the first ideas of combining music with other arts,
like Berlioz in his Symphonie Fantastique . Liszt proclaim himself as a Beethoven´s successor, he felt
that he had the necessity to create something new, as we know, the Weimar period of Liszt was
dedicated to him as a composer, leaving aside the achievements of other composers like Haydn,
Mozart and Beethoven. He looked that form and harmony were like a formula after Beethoven,
because

Cultural Diversity In Rocky Mountains
In the northwest corner of New Mexico, in the high desert rangeland and foothills of the Rocky
Mountains is the small town I grew up in, Aztec, New Mexico. Not too much stands out in this town;
ranches and homesteads mostly failed and died in the mid 1900 s due to the rise of the oil and gas
industry that surrounds it. Today that market is very fragile today fluctuating back and forth from good
to poor staggering the employment rate as the market changes. This, I believe, lends to a terrible the
lack of cultural diversity; most of the population in that area can be divided into three groups
Caucasian, Hispanic, and Native American. My father, Caucasian, is very calm and largely open and
accepting to cultural diversity. My mother, of Spanish

Attenuated Vaccination
A common alternative to the live attenuated vaccinations are inactivated, or killed, vaccines.
Inactivated vaccines are produced by growing the virus in a medium and then inactivating it with heat
and/or a chemical. Since the virus is inactivated, it is unable to cause infection, even in patients that
suffer from immunodeficiency. Inactivated viruses are faced with limitations, however. Only viral
vaccines containing the whole virus are available in this form, which includes; influenza; polio; rabies;
and hepatitis A (Figure 3). The inactivated vaccinations also must be administered in multiple doses,
as the first dose does not produce protective antibodies, but only primes the immune system for
infection (Offit et al.. 2002). Polysaccharide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is still a great deal of information to learn from the study of viruses and the continued
exploration of the viral genome is crucial in understanding how viruses communicate, transmit from

that the most dangerous viral infections of today may be undermined by newer and more effective
viruses, resulting in catastrophic outcomes. Through the study of viruses, it is the hope of the scientific

Executive Summary
BrewDog is a company that has gone from strength to strength in its short time since establishment.
The company has been experiencing rapid growth over the past several years. Through extracting the
relevant information from a SWOT analysis on the company, I will look at BrewDog s strengths and
opportunities, leading to analysis of competition, barriers to entry and the threat of substitutes in
proposed future markets. Through this I will show what growth methods are not suitable for the
company, and conclude with my recommendation that simultaneous expansion of the UK and foreign
markets are the most viable growth prospects for the company. I will provide analysis and discussion
to show the validity of this. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.2 Opportunities
The opportunities for BrewDog are vast and include continuing to expand on its recent trend of
opening BrewDog pubs and bars across the UK, and taking the business global on a larger scale than it
currently is. The company already exports to over 30 countries worldwide (McCulloch, 2013) and
although this is of course proving profitable, the intentions of BrewDog in terms of expansion are
focussed mainly on opening new establishments. The company currently has eleven open bars in
Scotland and England, with a flag ship store in Shoreditch, London. Eleven bars is not a massive
amount, particularly looking at the success of the ones they currently have. Although expansion
abroad is no doubt a high priority, it cannot be ignored that BrewDog bars are not present in Northern
Ireland, although the beers are available there for purchase in other establishments and stores. This is
an opportunity for expansion.
The matter of global expansion of the pubs is one that BrewDog seem very interested in, and
understandably so. As mentioned, BrewDog already exports to around 30 different markets, and as
such has a customer base around the world already. An opportunity for growth is to enter the German
market, where the craft beer market is large,

Celtic Christianity and The Secret Rose Essays
Celtic Christianity and The Secret Rose
In William Butler Yeats The Secret Rose, the author develops his theme through choice of diction,
imagery, symbolism, and scansion. Yeats Irish background is an influential factor in terms of the tone
with which he addresses religious beliefs, and an acceptable interpretation of The Secret Rose depends
on one s knowledge of Celtic history and tradition.
Throughout his poem, Yeats uses a great deal of symbolism in describing the well known events that
surround the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Every line is significant in terms of how one understands the
statements (and questions) Yeats is posing. The Secret Rose is in itself, a noteworthy title, because it
sums up the fixation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yeats style is quite prayerful his voice at first resembles an aged person who is seeking comfort as he
reaches his final days on Earth. At the end of the poem, Yeats voice has become one of assurance and
anticipation. This change in voice is quite effective in developing the idea that living is a circular
event, and death is certainly not a final destination. Furthermore, this belief is consistent with the
Celtic conviction that death must come before birth in the circle of life because there must be room for
new growth before it can occur.
The meter and rhyme scheme of Yeats poem are similarly structured to coincide with the belief that
life is an unending cycle. The poem is written in iambic pentameter, in pairs of rhyming couplets, and
the first rhyming couplet rhymes with the final couplet as well. In returning to the original rhyme,
Yeats reinforces the belief that life will continue in a non terminal circle.
The theme of Yeats poem deals with the anticipation of the Second Coming of Christ, a very Christian
viewpoint. However, in his writing Yeats incorporates an important part of his heritage: the Druids, an
ancient order of priests that played a pivotal part in the growth of Christianity in Ireland. In Druid
vapour and make the torches dim; / Till vain frenzy awoke and he died; and him /

Fermat s Last Theorem Essay
Have you heard of Fermat s Last Theorem? It was the world s most notorious (which means famous in
a bad kind of way) mathematical problem because it kept the world s greatest minds dumbfounded for
more than three centuries! Now who was Fermat? Pierre de Fermat was born in 1601 in south west
France. He was not a Mathematician. He was a Councillor at the Toulouse Chamber of petitions. He
studied Mathematics in his spare time as a hobby. But he was so brilliant that he discovered the laws
of Probabilty, laid the foundation of Calculus and made the greatest contribution to Number Theory. In
addition to being brilliant, Fermat was just a bit mischievous. After solving a particular Mathematical
problem, he would write to other Mathematicians, challenging them to come up with their own
solutions for the problem. Fermat s last theorem can be stated very simply. Have you heard of
Pythagorean triplets? They are sets of three whole numbers that satisfy the condition: x2 + y2 = z2.
(3,4,5) is one such set of numbers. So is (5, 12, 13). These numbers can be considered to be the sides
of right angled triangles. Fermat s last theorem states that it is impossible to find whole numbers x, y
and z such that xn + yn = zn, when n is greater than 2. Fermat claimed to have found a proof for this
theorem, but wrote that the margin of his notebook was too small ... Show more content on

At school, I would find a quiet, empty space to talk to my parents instead of doing so out in the open. I
knew that unlike most of my peers, English is not the primary language spoken at my home, and I

American breakfast plate can also be seen as a simple act of moving away from their own culture,
adopting a food that less visibly alienates them from the group of classmates they want to feel similar
to. Specifically, the phrase instead of implies that the children have broken a previous routine of eating
bean paste soup, a custom that was clearly established within the family because the mothers expected
them to continue to eat the Japanese dish. Like these children, I have also seen how the food I eat is a

Never On A Sunday, By Companies Like Mccoy s Building...
Never on a Sunday is a case study that discusses the philosophy carried out by companies like McCoy

organization that guides the behavior of its members (Schermerhom, Osborn, Uhl bien, Hunt, 2012, p.

focus more on the items in store and customer service and the majority of their administrative
workload is handled through headquarters (Schermerhom, Osborn, Uhl bien, Hunt, 2012, p. 353).
Working as a manager myself that really sounds like a great method of management. There are many
times where my boss and the rest of the management team where I work struggles. Keeping up with
all the administrative duties and the store at the same time can be really trying and is a never ending
workload. This makes neither one of them get the attention they require and more often than not we
find ourselves trying to do just enough administrative work and just enough floor work to get through
the day. Additionally, the management teams meet regularly to discuss products and other important
aspects that impact the stores. Sometimes in my line of work we wish that we had the opportunity to
meet and discuss new ideas and products that could improve our stores.

Arguments Against Illegal Aliens
The government increases the cost of the health care for people who earn more and help others who

Short Story Of Myrtle Wilson
VALLEY OF ASHES It was a sweltering night, the air heavy with the tears of God, as Mrs. Myrtle
Wilson was struck by the death car. Mrs. Wilson ran out of the Wilson s building, a garage structure
for Mr. Wilson s business and the couple s house right on top. Simultaneously, a yellow car,
(spectators disagree on the color of the car, and there have not been any confirmations on the true
color of the car, however, Mr. Wilson claims to know the kind of car it was), was whizzing past
heading back from New York, assumed to be driving at fifty to sixty miles per hour, while Mrs.
Wilson ran into the road. In a tragic event, Mrs. Myrtle Wilson was killed instantly, with her left breast
left unattached to her body and her red hair tangled with blood, and left for dead as the death car and
its owners never stopped and continued on down the road. Mr. Wilson, absolutely distressed, was
yelling in exclamations right after the death car s mowing down of his wife.
Mrs. Wilson was a loving wife, and was planning to go West to pursue their own American Dream,
one can only assume, with her husband, Mr. George Wilson. Mrs. Myrtle was an easy going, high

Wilson has spoken about his belief that his wife was murdered and continues to express his

Mr. Wilson suspects that Mrs. Wilson had been trying to run away from her husband than trying to
speak with her lover. The frenzy and chaos that took hold in the Wilson s home is a plausible
explanation for Mr. Wilson s belief. According to a medical professional, Mr. Wilson s grief has
caused him to create fantasies and delusions in order to lessen the pain over the death of his wife. It
has been most commonly explained as part of the grieving process. Also, foul play has not been cited

Ivan Ilych By Leo Tolstoy
In The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, Ivan Ilych is a highly regarded official in the court of
justice who lives carefree most of the time. However, as the story progresses, he starts to more and
more self analyze and become emotional as he ponders the reason for his hellish illness and coming
death . Although it may seem like he has done something to deserve such a cruel fate, it is honestly
just the way life works, and all of us have to accept this fact. That is what Ivan ends up realizing and
doing. It is not a punishment of how he has lived, but instead is a natural occurrence that ends up
hitting everyone at different times in our lives. While Ivan asks himself why he has been afflicted with
his illness he also starts to learn new things just like how we learn that the larger thematic function of
his suffering is to help him reflect on himself, his life, and the people around him. First, we re not to

means anything to him. However, he ends up realizing that the time where he was most happiest was
during his childhood. The further he departed from childhood and the nearer he came to the present
the more worthless and doubtful were the joys (1023). Ivan Ilych s childhood is the only happy part of
his life because it is the only point at which he had any real connections to other people. Happiness is
defined differently by everyone but for Ivan Ilych having real connections to and with other people is

Doric, Ionic and Corinthian orders in the amphitheater perfectly exemplify the Greek style in Roman
Architecture. Romans, however, did not structure the orders functionally unlike Greek did. Moreover,
the use of the arch in the Colosseum, depicts that Roman did not limit themselves to post and lintel
structure. They developed round arch system from the Etruscan and consequently be the foundation of
Roman and western architectural mastery. For instance, aqueduct, bridge and building. This
architectural discovery also allowed Roman to support the big, heavy and complex construction like
Colosseum. This generated arch is not only sustaining weight of structure but also supporting interior
tunnels and open space inside the arena. In their effort to build the high and heavy building Roman
used wooden train and devices to transfer materials from ground up to great heights in record time.
Finally, The Colosseum became up to 160 feet tall. It could be considered as the tallest building

Eastern and Western Medicine Essay
Eastern and Western Medicine
The complex structure and foreign nature of Tibetan medicine makes it difficult to relate its practices
to Western medicine, making it difficult to determine the clinical efficacy of Eastern medical practice.
Several clinical analysis studies have recently been performed in order to determine the efficacy of the
holistic practices of Eastern cultures. Whether the studies show Eastern or Western practices to be
more effective, I believe that the most effective treatment should be a combination of both practices.
Eastern and Western practices differ on many levels. One of the main differences between these two
methods is the way in which medicine is actually practiced. Western medicine is heavily ... Show

It is a strong belief of the Tibetans that their karma of previous lives plays a significant role in their
health.5
Tibetan medicine practices the belief that methods must be practiced as equally as they are learned
academically. Misinterpretations of certain Buddhist aspects of Eastern medicine create difficulties in
relating Eastern and Western principles. Some Westerners feel that all you need to practice medicine in
the East is a strong sense of compassion to help people, without having any real knowledge of the
medical practices: A few weekend courses and all the good intentions in the world it would seem is all
that is thought to be necessary. (Dummer p. 11). This, however, is not the case at all. Eastern
practitioners spend years learning medical procedures and techniques before going into practice. They
are also fully educated in the spiritual aspects of medicine as well, as for religion plays a significant
role in Eastern practices. Inadequate training may result in improper care and detrimental diagnosis to
those who may be seriously ill or suffering from undiagnosed diseases.7
Eastern medicine also differs from Western practices in the way in which the human body is classified.
In Tibetan medicine, the constituents of the body are quantified more on an observatory and physical
basis, rather than the scientific and technological methods used in Western medicine. Tibetan practice

Conventions Of Harold And Maude Ashby
In the Hal Ashby film, Harold and Maude, Ashby uses the conventions of the romantic comedy to
bring Harold and Maude together in order to show the audience that life should be lived while being
the truest person they can be. This film uses the conventions of romantic comedy to make a film that
celebrates nonconformity and choosing ones own path in life rather than one that is predetermined by
others. The conventions of meeting/separating/uniting, the use of spontaneous burst of song, the idea
of the unruly woman, and the opposing characterization of Harold and Maude are effectively used in
the film as a way to push the theme forward and reveal the message of the film.

Harold is obsessed with death and goes to funeral and demolition sites for fun. He does not go there to
enjoy what life there was in the objects before their demise, but to obsess over the decay and death.
This is due to his mother s reaction when he blows up the chemistry room at his boarding school and
is told of his death. She faints for the attention of the police officers and the party goers. Harold begins
seeing death as a way to get attention, and sees death, and his fake suicide attempts as a way to live.
Maude is instead obsessed with life. She goes to funerals in order to celebrate the life that was lived
before the death, and goes to greenhouses to see how things grow and live. As she tells Harold, I like
to watch things grow. (Harold and Maude) Maude s obsession with life is what allows Harold to learn
how to live. Since she enjoys watching things grow and seeing how they turn out, she decides to help
Harold. She is also a Holocaust survivor. She already has an intimate experience with death from her
time in the concentration camps. Instead of choosing to obsess over the death and destruction she
witnessed, she instead chooses to obsess over the life that she, and others lived. Her obsession with
life represents the breaking of societal roles that many people are forced into. Since Harold and Maude
are such opposite characters in how they view life, the film is able to

Cognitive Development According to Piaget Essay
Cognitive Development According to Piaget
Works Cited Missing
Cognitive development is defined as gradual orderly changes by which mental processes become more
complex and sophisticated, or the scientific study of how human beings develop in certain orderly
stages as they get older. The actual study of cognition refers to the process of knowing; it is the study
of all mental activities related to acquiring, storing, and using knowledge (Microsoft, 2001, p.3). How
we as humans develop cognitively has been thoroughly observed and researched by Jean Piaget. He
was a cognitivist: he believed that our environment stimulates us to learn on our own (make our own
intelligence).

Within the Sensory Stage, there are six sub stages. The first sub stage is from birth to one month,
known as the reflex stage. When something enters their hand or touches their feet, they attempt to
grasp it. Also, when something is placed on their lips, they try to suck on the object thinking it is food.
Next is from one to four months, primary circular reaction. Now children begin to follow objects with
their eyes, they have some coordinated movements (everything they hold, they put in their mouth),
and they start repeated motions (kicking). Next is from four to six months, secondary circular reaction.
This is when children start to coordinate their eyes with their hands, they now have foresight, and they
start to act for results (behavior = attention). They start to experiment; they connect events in the
places they occur ( bath in the bathtub, changing on the changing table). Also in this stage they
develop object permanence. The fourth sub stage is from six to twelve months, known as the
coordination of secondary schema. They now have deliberate plans of exploration (know where they
want to go and what they want to do when they get there). They can also play simple games, like
taking objects out of a box and putting them back in. The next sub stage is from twelve to eighteen
months and is called the tertiary circular reaction stage. Children LOVE experimentation in this stage.
They begin to walk and get into everything. Also in this stage

Nawoi Tribe Research Paper
There is a tribe of humans called Nawoi. They are located next to a river that they have named after
themselves. They are truly a small tribe but are able to attract large populations of humans who have
just passed into adulthood. These young adults will tend to migrate to the tribe in August and return
their origins in May. This would suggest that they are hibernating in this area, but that is not the main
purpose for the large migration of these people. They migrate to be taught by gurus of the subject of

tribe closer together and allows the mind to talk their god more easily. They will continue to drink this

shrine is one of the biggest structures in the tribe s community. Religion is such an important part of

Guy Montag and the other firemen travel to a house, Montag s house, where he has to burn it and ends
up burning his boss, the fire captain. Montag is shocked when they arrive at his house and he
comments, Why said Montag slowly, we ve stopped in front of my house (Bradbury 120). Fire
Captain Beatty forces him to burn his own house. Afterward, Beatty s incessant nagging comments
cause Montag to get so angry that he burns Beatty and knocks out the rest of the firemen. Now,
Montag is evading capture after this event which caused him to completely throw away all of his

Descriptive Essay About The Maze
The Maize Maze
Diego Villada Youel
As I crawled in the back of my dad s truck, ready to go to the corn maze, my stomach felt like it had a
hundred butterflies were trying to get out. About halfway to the corn maze my stomach felt like the
butterflies that we re trying to storm out had ten babies each, that we re now trying to burst out like
fireworks. I could taste the dirt under my nails when I was chewing them due to the tizzy feeling I had
about what was going to happen in the maze.
Finally, after what felt like a week before I arrived to the farm we hopped in line to buy tickets for the
maze. I heard screams coming from the maze and the butterflies flew away, but, pigeons took their
place and I felt like puking. I heard people, coming out of the maze talking about their favorite parts.
One of them announced their favorite was when she was chased by the man with a chainsaw. Just the
thought of being chased made me want to curl up in a ball, find a nice hiding place and never come
out. On the other hand, I undoubtedly wanted to mosey through the maze, to show my brother and
sister that I could make it through the maze and not appear as scared as them.
After getting our tickets, we hopped in line for the maze. In the rear of the line, we talked and took
pictures. There were about twenty people in front of us, but, In no time we were at the front of the
line. As soon as our tickets were checked, we walked into the maze and it smelled like hay and corn. I

What Is The Positive Impact Of The Stock Market Crash Of 1929
In the years leading up to 1929, the American economy was thriving and stock trade sales were at their
highest peak. The majority of people were thriving in this newfound success, and had been constantly
building off their fortunes. The people of the United States had never lived through such a time, so
experiencing this for the first time they were ignorant of any negative effects that could occur. They
never would have expected the economy to undergo such a drastic change in such a short period of
time. According to credible sources, the unemployment that resulted from the Stock Market Crash of
1929 impacted choices and caused financial anxiety and panic. American in the 1920 s continuously

attention on the present time in the article Bernard Baruch s Own Story by Bernard Baruch, a first
notion of an imminent market crash was described as, To most people it seemed as though prosperity
would never end, that everyone would simply go on making and spending more and more money
(Baruch 2). They were pushing their possible doubts outside of their minds to focus on the all too
obvious positive impacts of the thriving economy. Furthermore, in the article Firing, Not Hiring by

Negative Stereotypes Of Gay Bars And Gay Nightclubs
Introduction
Since The 1930s, gay bars and gay nightclubs have been around. The bar called the White Horse, in
Oakland, California, has been opened since 1933. It is known to be the first gay bar to be opened here
in America. Being gay in the 1930s was brutal. Same gender sex was a felony, and being caught in a
gay bar could cost someone their job... In a society that viewed gays as barley human, the White Horse
allowed a level of freedom that in the 1940s or 1950s was liberating (Duffy 2016). With time changes
and people being more accepted, gay bars and gay nightclubs started opening all across America. One
of the many gay nightclubs here in Denver is known as Tracks. It was opened in 1980. On October
5th, 2017, an experiential observation at the Tracks nightclub was made. During this experience, it
was observed that these people that identified as either gay, lesbian, or bisexual were acting as normal
human beings in a heterosexual nightclub. Although the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender

history of negative stereotypes against LGBT nightclubs which actually benefit this community within

Essay On White Americans
When asked to validate a statement such as the one mentioned that references the disadvantages of
minorities versus those of White Americans the three most significant obstacles, in my opinion, are
employment, education, and crime. If you have a group of people who are subordinate in those three
categories, you have individuals who are positively underprivileged. Let us begin with employment or
joblessness. Unfortunately, socioeconomic status, income, employment, and unemployment are
determined by some level of race and ethnicity. In the early 1980 s when low skilled jobs and high
wage workers wandered out of the central portion of the city, therefore increasing space and
inaccessibility to jobs, that was the beginning of employment trouble and social detachment. Even
after managing for local conditions, there was still a sizable extensive employment disadvantage for
blacks (D Amico Maxwell, 1995) As urban centralization increased and industry continued to move
the high, and low wages/skills and minority migration to the inner cities intensified(D Amico
Maxwell, 1995). It was this continued shift that left minorities reduced to an area that suffered from
high rates of joblessness, welfare dependency, crime and single parent households. There was now an
exclusion from job networks and confinement to poor quality schooling, which materialized into lousy
working habits(D Amico Maxwell, 1995).
Next, we factor in the disadvantages for minorities in education as it

Literary Analysis Of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
Michelle Ball Thompson
ENG 251 C01
Literary Essay
Oct 3, 2017
Title of Essay The short story of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. by Washington Irving introduced the
character Ichabod Crane. Ichabod s name means No Glory which is the essence of the character
himself. Ichabod s legacy became a sort of an old wives tale by which he believed in so much he
ultimately fell victim to. Ichabod is a character that is a bit of an underdog that you feel compassion
for but inevitably conclude he received the outcome he deserves.
Ichabod Crane s appetite for the finer things in life and his fascination with superstitions brought him
to the town of Sleepy Hollow but ultimately became the source of his departure and the focus of one
of the towns ghost stories that he so enjoyed sharing in.
The physical description of Ichabod Crane was one of less than flattery. The narrator describes
Ichabod as tall but exceedingly lank, hands that dangled a mile out of his sleeves, feet that might have
served as shovels, and his whole frame most loosely hung together (535). The narrator further explains
his huge ears, large green glassy eyes, and a long striped nose that looked like a weather cock, perched
upon his spindle neck (535). His physique was compared to that of a scarecrow (535). Ichabod s name
and physical description gave an impression of a comical character with an unfortunate hand dealt in
appearances.
Ichabod Crane moved from Connecticut to teach the children in Sleepy Hollow, which was a small
rural town (535). As the schoolmaster, he was well known in his community as he was a regular
visitor to the homes of his students. He would help with chores at the homes of his students and was
certainly up for a visit to students homes with pretty sisters and mothers who were talented cooks
(536). The school master is generally a man of some importance in the female circle of a rural
neighborhood (536). also, he was a kind of travelling gazette, carrying the whole budget of local
gossip from house to house (537) and was a perfect master of Cotton Mather s history of New
England Witchcraft, in which, by the way, he most firmly and potently believed (537). His preferred
past time was to visit with old Dutch wives of

Paint your front door. What does your front door look like right now? Does it look tired? Are there

One of the most important things you can do to improve the curb appeal of your home is to clean up
your yard. Take the time to manicure your lawn and make it as green as possible (even if you have to
spray it green!). Trim the trees and bushes. Plant new flowers in your yard or even a tree (if feasible).
You may even consider installing flower boxes by your windows or in your front porch area.
Power wash your house. We don t realize how dirty our homes get over time. A good power wash will
take away the grime and allow your home s true color to shine through again. You can either rent a
power washer or hire someone to help you. Additionally, you should power wash your windows and
screens to make sure they are bright and clean as well.
Fix your driveway. When driving up to your home, one of the first things a buyer may see is your
driveway. What does it look like? Are there cracks in the concrete? Do you have trash cans in the
front? If so, do what you can to repair the cracks on your own, and simply move your trash cans to a
different location. You may even consider staining your driveway to give it a little extra

Horses have been a part of man s life for a very long time. The relationship between man and horse
first began at the time of the horse s domestication between 4000 and 3500 B.C. They have been by

released. The current full featured version is 2.4 (released January 2001) and development continues.
Linux is developed under the GNU General Public License and its source code is freely available to
everyone. This however, doesn t mean that Linux and its assorted distributions are free companies and
developers may charge money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Process management creates processes, and implements multitasking by switching the active process
on the processor.
At the lowest level, the kernel contains a hardware device driver for each kind of hardware it supports.
Since the world is full of different kinds of hardware, the number of hardware device drivers is large.
There are often many otherwise similar pieces of hardware that differ in how they are controlled by
software. The similarities make it possible to have general classes of drivers that support similar
operations; each member of the class has the same interface to the rest of the kernel but differs in what
it needs to do to implement them. For example, all disk drivers look alike to the rest of the kernel, i.e.,
they all have operations like `initialize the drive , `read sector N , and `write sector N .
Some software services provided by the kernel itself have similar properties, and can therefore be
abstracted into classes. For example, the various network protocols have been abstracted into one
programming interface, the BSD socket library. Another example is the virtual filesystem (VFS) layer
that abstracts the filesystem operations away from their implementation. Each filesystem type
provides an implementation of each filesystem operation. When some entity tries to use a filesystem,
the request goes via the VFS, which routes the request to the proper filesystem driver.

Misogynistic and Sexist Undertones in One Flew Over the...
From the moment that the apple touched Eve s lips, women have been seen as an embodiment of all
that is evil. This reflects misogynistic societal beliefs that women are below men. While many of the
prejudices towards women are hidden in modern American society, some misogynistic stereotypes are
still present. In Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, one can see many misogynistic and
sexist undertones. Big Nurse Ratched is in a position of authority over a large group of men and is
seen as a tyrannical and unjust ruler. Although most of her methods would have been seen as awful
when used by any person, the saturation of bad women in the novel creates an unfavorable picture of
women in general. The balance of power in the ward is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, she attempts to conceal [her breasts] in [a] sexless get up (64). In order for McMurphy and
the men to regain power, they must regain their sexuality and reveal the nurse s. McMurphy s final
stand against the nurse involves him ripp[ing] her uniform all the way down the front (275) and
revealing breasts that she had concealed. With this metaphorical rape, Kesey is equating the men
regaining power with sexual dominance over women. The rape of the nurse is seen as a heroic act by
McMurphy, which conveys the misogynistic message that men have a right to sexual power over
women. The way that McMurphy performs this rape is effectively silencing the nurse, as he had his
heavy red fingers [in] the white flesh of her throat (275). Using silence in conjunction with a
metaphorical rape gives a further misogynistic tone, as McMurphy is exerting sexual dominance as
well as stopping her from being able to speak out against him, or any man. Because this is McMurphy
s final action, it is seen as his greatest one. Therefore, the man who can break a woman is seen as an
ideal specimen.
Size, both physical and metaphorical, plays a large role in the misogynistic references in the ward. The
Chief makes constant references to people s size. However, size is relative. One cannot be big without
someone else being small. When the nurse is in full control, the Chief sees her as big as a tractor (5).
With her great size, Nurse Ratched is squashing the

The Stigma Of Receiving Therapy For Mental Illness
One of the most difficult aspects of treating patients who suffer from trichotillomania (TTM),
commonly called hair pulling disorder, is that most prefer to remain invisible. They are creative at
finding ways to hide their illness. Most cover up with head scarves, hats, hoodies, and carry on as if
nothing is wrong.Treatment for TTM is accessible through the NHS, yet the stigma of receiving
therapy for mental illness is still strong enough to keep many patients with TTM away from
psychologists, even when they have suffered significant hair loss. The key to eliminating this stigma is
education and transparency. In order to better understanding of this impulse disorder, it is important to
look closely at the causes, symptoms, and behaviors. Once these are understood, working with a
psychologist to plan effective treatment becomes as easy as walking into their practice. Here are the
basics about trichotillomania, and how a psychologist can help with finding the right treatment.
What is Trichotillomania (TTM)?
TTM is a psychological disorder identified as an impulse control disorder. Contrary to popular belief,
TTM is not a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The two disorders can coexist due to
their shared irresistible urges, though they are diagnosed separately and treated separately. TTM also
bears a close resemblance to Compulsive Skin Picking, though this is also considered a separate
disorder with different diagnosis and treatment options.

  • 2. Boston Sweatshirt Descriptive Writing After a very tiring day all visiting the city of Boston, it was time to go back to the hotel. We got to the hotel and went to our rooms to get ready for the dinner cruise. A majority of the girls if not all of them, decided to buy sweatshirts. Back in our hotel room, Ana was trying on her sweatshirt. I was unpacking and all of the sudden I hear Ana say something to me. Can you help me? I can t get my sweatshirt over my head. Sure, I replied. I got over and try to help Ana get the sweatshirt over her head. I was trying to get it over her head when I realized something. The price tag is stuck inside the string attached to your sweatshirt! Oh! Does anyone have a pair of scissors? Ana asked. We then came to the conclusion that no one ... • 5. Analysis Of Les Prludes S. 97 Les Préludes S.97 by Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 July 31, 1886) is the third of his thirteen symphonic poems. The premiere took place at the Weimar Hoftheater on 23 February, 1854 under the baton of Liszt for a benefit concert. The instrumentation consists in three flutes (third also piccolo), two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, tuba, timpani, snare drum, cymbals, bass drum, harp and strings. The year 1847 was the year where Liszt was moving to Weimar to begin a new stage in his musical life, he took the decision to finish his career as a pianist and begin to dedicate to the composition, besides, he met the Polish Princess Carolyne zu Sayn Wittgenstein, that she impulse his career as a composer. He found the necessity to evolve the music, and the way that he found was combining music with literature. In this essay I will discuss how Les Préludes evolve the symphonic genre. Mark Evans Bonds in Absolute Music discusses Liszt´s Program music. According with Bonds, Liszt in his Harold essay, he distinguishes between ¬¬specifically musical composer and the composer driven by an overarching poetic image or narrative. In program music, the recurrence, variation, alteration, and modulation of motifs are determined by their relationship to a poetic idea. Liszt used the new term to identify a repertory of instrumental music which through an evocative title, a verbal program, or both, draws the listener´s attention in advance toward a specific object . Bonds analyses the opinion of Liszt in his program music, how he tried to convince that program music is the next step in music evolve, the necessity of break form rules to adequate the music into literature (in the case of Liszt) and the fact that he was reinforcing the first ideas of combining music with other arts, like Berlioz in his Symphonie Fantastique . Liszt proclaim himself as a Beethoven´s successor, he felt that he had the necessity to create something new, as we know, the Weimar period of Liszt was dedicated to him as a composer, leaving aside the achievements of other composers like Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. He looked that form and harmony were like a formula after Beethoven, because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, this belief is consistent with the Celtic conviction that death must come before birth in the circle of life because there must be room for new growth before it can occur. The meter and rhyme scheme of Yeats poem are similarly structured to coincide with the belief that life is an unending cycle. The poem is written in iambic pentameter, in pairs of rhyming couplets, and the first rhyming couplet rhymes with the final couplet as well. It was the world s most notorious (which means famous in a bad kind of way) mathematical problem because it kept the world s greatest minds dumbfounded for more than three centuries! Now who was Fermat? Pierre de Fermat was born in 1601 in south west France. He was not a Mathematician. He was a Councillor at the Toulouse Chamber of petitions. He studied Mathematics in his spare time as a hobby. But he was so brilliant that he discovered the laws of Probabilty, laid the foundation of Calculus and made the greatest contribution to Number Theory. In addition to being brilliant, Fermat was just a bit mischievous. After solving a particular Mathematical problem, he would write to other Mathematicians, challenging them to come up with their own solutions for the problem. Fermat s last theorem can be stated very simply. Have you heard of Pythagorean triplets? They are sets of three whole numbers that satisfy the condition: x2 + y2 = z2. (3,4,5) is one such set of numbers. So is (5, 12, 13). These numbers can be considered to be the sides of right angled triangles. This film uses the conventions of romantic comedy to make a film that celebrates nonconformity and choosing ones own path in life rather than one that is predetermined by others. The conventions of meeting/separating/uniting, the use of spontaneous burst of song, the idea of the unruly woman, and the opposing characterization of Harold and Maude are effectively used in the film as a way to push the theme forward and reveal the message of the film. Harold is obsessed with death and goes to funeral and demolition sites for fun. He does not go there to enjoy what life there was in the objects before their demise, but to obsess over the decay and death. This is due to his mother s reaction when he blows up the chemistry room at his boarding school and is told of his death. She faints for the attention of the police officers and the party goers. Harold begins seeing death as a way to get attention, and sees death, and his fake suicide attempts as a way to live. Maude is instead obsessed with life. She goes to funerals in order to celebrate the life that was lived before the death, and goes to greenhouses to see how things grow and live. As she tells Harold, I like to watch things grow. (Harold and Maude) Maude s obsession with life is what allows Harold to learn how to live. Since she enjoys watching things grow and seeing how they turn out, she decides to help Harold. She is also a Holocaust survivor. She already has an intimate experience with death from her time in the concentration camps. Instead of choosing to obsess over the death and destruction she witnessed, she instead chooses to obsess over the life that she, and others lived. Her obsession with life represents the breaking of societal roles that many people are forced into. Since Harold and Maude are such opposite characters in how they view life, the film is able to ... Cognitive Development According to Piaget Essay Cognitive Development According to Piaget Works Cited Missing Cognitive development is defined as gradual orderly changes by which mental processes become more complex and sophisticated, or the scientific study of how human beings develop in certain orderly stages as they get older. The actual study of cognition refers to the process of knowing; it is the study of all mental activities related to acquiring, storing, and using knowledge (Microsoft, 2001, p.3). How we as humans develop cognitively has been thoroughly observed and researched by Jean Piaget. They start to experiment; they connect events in the places they occur ( bath in the bathtub, changing on the changing table). Also in this stage they develop object permanence. The fourth sub stage is from six to twelve months, known as the coordination of secondary schema. They now have deliberate plans of exploration (know where they want to go and what they want to do when they get there). Essay On White Americans When asked to validate a statement such as the one mentioned that references the disadvantages of minorities versus those of White Americans the three most significant obstacles, in my opinion, are employment, education, and crime. If you have a group of people who are subordinate in those three categories, you have individuals who are positively underprivileged. Let us begin with employment or joblessness. Unfortunately, socioeconomic status, income, employment, and unemployment are determined by some level of race and ethnicity. In the early 1980 s when low skilled jobs and high wage workers wandered out of the central portion of the city, therefore increasing space and inaccessibility to jobs, that was the beginning of employment trouble and social detachment. Even after managing for local conditions, there was still a sizable extensive employment disadvantage for blacks (D Amico Maxwell, 1995) As urban centralization increased and industry continued to move the high, and low wages/skills and minority migration to the inner cities intensified(D Amico Maxwell, 1995). It was this continued shift that left minorities reduced to an area that suffered from high rates of joblessness, welfare dependency, crime and single parent households. There was now an exclusion from job networks and confinement to poor quality schooling, which materialized into lousy working habits(D Amico Maxwell, 1995). Literary Analysis Of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow Michelle Ball Thompson ENG 251 C01 Literary Essay Oct 3, 2017 Title of Essay The short story of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. by Washington Irving introduced the character Ichabod Crane. Ichabod s name means No Glory which is the essence of the character himself. Ichabod s legacy became a sort of an old wives tale by which he believed in so much he ultimately fell victim to. Ichabod is a character that is a bit of an underdog that you feel compassion for but inevitably conclude he received the outcome he deserves. Ichabod Crane s appetite for the finer things in life and his fascination with superstitions brought him to the town of Sleepy Hollow but ultimately became the source of his departure and the focus of one of the towns ghost stories that he so enjoyed sharing in. The physical description of Ichabod Crane was one of less than flattery. The narrator describes Ichabod as tall but exceedingly lank, hands that dangled a mile out of his sleeves, feet that might have served as shovels, and his whole frame most loosely hung together (535). The narrator further explains his huge ears, large green glassy eyes, and a long striped nose that looked like a weather cock, perched upon his spindle neck (535). His physique was compared to that of a scarecrow (535). Ichabod s name and physical description gave an impression of a comical character with an unfortunate hand dealt in appearances. Ichabod Crane moved from Connecticut to teach the children in Sleepy Hollow, which was a small rural town (535). As the schoolmaster, he was well known in his community as he was a regular visitor to the homes of his students. He would help with chores at the homes of his students and was certainly up for a visit to students homes with pretty sisters and mothers who were talented cooks (536). The school master is generally a man of some importance in the female circle of a rural neighborhood (536). also, he was a kind of travelling gazette, carrying the whole budget of local gossip from house to house (537) and was a perfect master of Cotton Mather s history of New England Witchcraft, in which, by the way, he most firmly and potently believed (537). Process management creates processes, and implements multitasking by switching the active process on the processor. At the lowest level, the kernel contains a hardware device driver for each kind of hardware it supports. Since the world is full of different kinds of hardware, the number of hardware device drivers is large. There are often many otherwise similar pieces of hardware that differ in how they are controlled by software. The similarities make it possible to have general classes of drivers that support similar operations; each member of the class has the same interface to the rest of the kernel but differs in what it needs to do to implement them. For example, all disk drivers look alike to the rest of the kernel, i.e., they all have operations like `initialize the drive , `read sector N , and `write sector N . Some software services provided by the kernel itself have similar properties, and can therefore be abstracted into classes. For example, the various network protocols have been abstracted into one programming interface, the BSD socket library. Another example is the virtual filesystem (VFS) layer that abstracts the filesystem operations away from their implementation. McMurphy s final stand against the nurse involves him ripp[ing] her uniform all the way down the front (275) and revealing breasts that she had concealed. With this metaphorical rape, Kesey is equating the men regaining power with sexual dominance over women. The rape of the nurse is seen as a heroic act by McMurphy, which conveys the misogynistic message that men have a right to sexual power over women. The way that McMurphy performs this rape is effectively silencing the nurse, as he had his heavy red fingers [in] the white flesh of her throat (275). Using silence in conjunction with a metaphorical rape gives a further misogynistic tone, as McMurphy is exerting sexual dominance as well as stopping her from being able to speak out against him, or any man. Because this is McMurphy s final action, it is seen as his greatest one. Therefore, the man who can break a woman is seen as an ideal specimen. Size, both physical and metaphorical, plays a large role in the misogynistic references in the ward. The Chief makes constant references to people s size. However, size is relative.
