John Bowlby s Research On Attachment
The attachment between an infant and its primary caregivers has long been a source of debate and
scientific study. Some older ideas on attachment would be, in today s standards, considered erroneous
and insensitive. Harry Harlow conducted experiments on primates in the 1950s, to better understand
attachment, while being controversial and certainly unethical, they provided a much needed insight
into the bond between mother and child, and so led to changes in how women were encouraged to
bring up their child. John Bowlby used Harlow s research to instigate changes in child rearing
practices.
Mary Ainsworth joined John Bowlby s research team in the 1950 s, based in London. To begin with
she had her own ideas about the attachment between mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Participants
A total of forty participants were used in the study. They had been recruited from friends and family
and had not been offered any reward or incentives to take part in the study such as money, or credits
for a course they were taking. Anyone who was either themselves a student of psychology or had
knowledge of the experiment and its contents were not able to take part. An equal number of males
and females took part in the experiment. The mean age of the participants involved was 39.3. The
oldest was 65 and the youngest 21.
Word count 97.
Materials
The materials used in this experiment were as follows. Instructions for the participants, to be read
before beginning the experiment. Informed consent forms, to be signed by participants. Response
sheets to record the participant s response for the dependant variable and a debriefing sheet to be read
after the conclusion of the experiment. Two slideshows, each containing the images to be shown to
each group. Each slideshow contained 20 pairs of images, shown with a three second gap and each
image pair repeated five times. The slideshow was downloaded and installed onto either a desktop or
laptop computer. Participants just had to watch the slideshow. Once the slideshow was finished the
participants were handed a response sheet asking whether they liked the DE100 IPTV logo requiring a

The three items that I would collect would be the external hard drive, the laptop, and the USB thumb

digital devices to avoid altering, damaging, or destroying the digital evidence. Avoid using any tools
or materials that may produce or emit static electricity or a magnetic field as these may damage or
destroy the evidence (Mukasey, 2008). The first item that I would collect as digital evidence would be
the external hard drive. It may contain all types of evidence such as: files, logs, pictures, recordings, or
even video logs. Before collecting it as evidence I would take pictures of the hard drive, making sure
to get the manufacturer and serial numbers, and then document it. Once complete, I would seal it in an
anti static bag and label that as well. The second item that I would collect would be the laptop. This
could have all of the same type of information that the hard drive has and also may contain copies,
pictures, or the source code itself from Product X. The laptop may show whether or not he was

Mentoring Programs And Development Towards Career Goals...
Literature Review Mentoring Programs Face to Face Mentoring Mentoring is a relationship between a
mentor who is a person of more experience and a mentee, a person who needs the advice and
assistance. In our case, the relationship would be built on a mutual desire for progress and
development towards career goals and objectives. This way of mentoring is a more traditional way in
which a face to face meeting is organized to serve the objective. This method can exist between two
people who already know each other and are comfortable with each other or in a formal mentoring
program setting where two people meet for the first time and to share and direct. This way is
extremely effective since both the mentor and the mentee gain knowledge and experience. The mentor
improves their leadership skills while the mentee gains experience and awareness of a certain matter
(Types of mentoring 2016). E mentoring This is a different approach to mentoring where everything is
based off the internet and communicating through emails, social media and video calls. I believe that
the relationship between the mentee and mentor in this case is not as strong and effective, however
people who live in rural areas or who are too busy, would find it more convenient when they need a
mentor. Of course, this method lacks facial expressions, posture, dress, social status indicators and
vocal cues which makes it a less communicative and operative strategy (Types of mentoring 2016).

Marcus Mill s Article On Connotations And Connotation
1. Stuart Mill s article on Denotation vs Connotation emphasizes the meaning of words which are a
way for us to communicate with one another. He had his own theory on this article. His view on the
meaning of words was that there was a distinction between the connotation and the denotation of a
term. There are two kinds of descriptive values according to Mill. Denotation is the literal meaning of
a term whereas connotation is the idea or feeling that the word implies; the conceptual representation
of it. For example he states, The word white denotes all white things, as snow paper, the foam of the
sea, etc., and implies, or in the language of the schoolmen, connotes, the attribute whiteness. The word
white is not predicated of the attribute, but of the objects, snow, etc.; but when we predicate it of them,
we convey the meaning that the attribute whiteness belongs to them 167). What Mill is implying is
that the term white it characterizes the thing denoted by the expression. When we say the word white
we think of these other things (snow, paper, wedding dress, white flowers) because they are defined as
the color white. For instance, take the word home. The connotation of the term home would be a place
of warmth, comfort, affection etc. She feels like home . It means that the person gives us a comforting
vibe in which we can rely on to feel peace within ourselves. How it is denoted; the place where one
lives (family members) for a certain period of time. It is

Literature Review On Recidivism
The study, Recidivism among Participants of a Reentry Program for Prisoners Released without
Supervision (2012) by Wikoff, Linhorst, and Morani, discusses if reentry programs with direct
financial assistance leads to a lower recidivism rate and predictors of recidivism among offenders who
have maxed out. In the study, there were 122 inmates that were a part of the Project Re Connect (PRC)
group and 158 offenders were part of the nonparticipation group. The participants were monitor to see
if they would get convicted of other charges after initially being released. While the article was overall
well done, there are some aspects that could be changed and/or interpreted more. There are various
sections within the article that help to further explain the steps of the study. For instance, the abstract
of the article provides a well described summary of the study as a whole. The literature review at the
beginning of the article explains the a brief history of the problem being studied and how more studies
need to be conducted on the topic of recidivism among released prisoners. For examples, the literature
review provides data and statistics that show the rise in the prison population by 475% within a 30
years spanned and the rise of prisoners who are released without supervision. Also, it explains how
many offenders are often sent to jail for new charges and they need for programs that can create an
easier transition process for released prisoners. The literature review

Nitinol Lab Report
Introduction The purpose of this lab was to examine nitinol s, a nickel Titanium shape memory alloy,
solid phase transformations and behaviors, a shape memory alloy can be defined as a specific group of
metal alloys that can recover from a seemingly permanent strain by applying a certain amount of heat
to the substance. This occurs through a slight rearrangement of the atoms within the solid. The
structure of the austenite phase of nitinol is very rigid and perfectly aligned, whereas the martensite
phase is soft and can be deformed easily. Additionally this lab also explored identifying a set of
unknown wires by comparing calculated densities to known densities for each of the wires, estimating
the temperature when the transformation from the martensitic phase of nitinol to the austenitic phase
of nitinol occurs, retraining the nitinol wire to a new austenitic shape, and examining the acoustic
properties for nitinol in both the martensitic phase and austenitic phase through an online
investigation. Experimental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

other lab groups. Part 4 of the lab involved retraining the nitinol wire. The wire was held in the desired
shape then heated using a 500+ degrees Celsius flame. The wire was held firmly using two sets of
needle nose pliers above a tea candle lit with a utility lighter until the tension in the wire was released
and then the wire was quickly removed from the flame to avoid damage. After allowing the wire to

Similes In George Elliott Clarke s The Wisdom Of Shelley
The Wisdom Of Shelley by George Elliott Clarke is a beautifully written poem with a darker meaning.
There are many interesting things hiding within the poem but there are a few specific ones I will
mention. First, there are many different poetic devices used within this short poem. This includes
imagery, similes, and repetition. Second, the symbol of this poem is the rose which is mentioned a few
times throughout the poem. Third, the theme for The Wisdom Of Shelley is deception. Each of these
points contributes to my understanding of the poem in its own way. There are many poetic devices
used throughout The Wisdom Of Shelley . Repetition of words was the first thing that really jumped
out at me. Clarke repeats the words words words words (4), and loved loved loved (15). What I
believe this represents is how the character X only says empty words to what I presume is his family.
If you need to repeat the word loved three times, then it starts to feel like you are only saying the
words to make the other person happy.
The first few lines of the poem say You come down, after / five winters, X, / bristlin with roses (1 3)
and this can be taken as X has been gone for five years showing no signs of returning. He suddenly
shows up with roses one day and expects all to be forgotten and forgiven. The presumed child does not
want to forgive him and forget about what happened. This really sets the mood and tone for what is
going to happen in the poem. Since it is

The S curve (Figure 3), allows businesses to predict the rise and fall of new product life cycles within
their market or industry. Whilst the airline industry in itself is in the maturity stage, the low fare
segment is currently in the growth stage. Gaining in popularity over the past few years, the low fare
segment is slowly reaching out to the masses and shedding its traditional negative impression of
compromising on safety and service quality. A growing middle class in the region, with increased
standards of living and disposable income and an appetite for travel combined with increasing fuel

Bioregionalism gives the large scale geographical boundaries to determine an area, such as the peaks
of a mountain. Bioregionalism is, the idea that societies should be organized on the basis of local
communities, which attempt to provide for their basic needs on the basis of resources available at the
local level (Evanoff, R., O Neil, E.). Evanoff and O Neil prove societies strive more when they are
divided by their natural barriers. Determining the bioregion of an area allows us to know our
watersheds, soil type(s), and mountain ranges. Bioregions are important because it allows us to know
the features of our area. Knowing our soil type allows farmers to know where their crops will strive or
not. Knowing the watersheds allows us to learn how to preserve our water resource and know where it
s coming from. The history of the area, or native culture helps us see how the region has evolved

A Delicate Life in The Scarlet Iblis by James Hurst and...
Each life is fragile in its own way. If something is rushed into a new kind of living their not ready for,
their life could get destroyed. If it gets destroyed then that is a loss of something that could have had a
beautiful life. Although a short story The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst and a poem Woman With Flower
by Naomi Long Margaret, they both share a common message that life should not be driven, life is
delicate and precious. A life should be something that develops on its own at its own pace.
In the Scarlet Ibis, the narrator tries to make his special brother normal, all because he was ashamed of
his little brother, Doodle. In the story, the narrator did not help his brother for his brothers sake, but for

Much growth is stunted by too careful prodding, (line 7) give it a break, and a chance to grow or it
will die.
Living up to one s expectations can be difficult. As show in this short story and poem if something
cannot exceed to someones wishes that person might try to succeed them on there own, like the over
watering and the rush to learn to be normal . In both of these stories there was a fail to succeed
someone else s wishes. So someone else tried exceeding it for themself, and ended up killing the one
they loved. The things we love we have to learn to leave alone, (Woman With Flower, line 9) The
poem and short story both had this lesson in them, where the narrators could not leave something
alone because they wanted it to grow up quicker, which ended in death for both the short story and
poem. Nothing is perfect, not even the narrators for The Scarlet Ibis, and Woman With Flower. In both
of these stories there are examples of a life being rushed into something they did not want, but for the
person rushing their lives needs and own selfish reasons. Particularly, in The Scarlet Ibis, the narrator
wanted to urge his little brother into becoming like all of the kids his age, but his brother had a
disability and this made it very difficult for him. In Woman With Flower, a woman rushed the life
right out of her plant by over watering it, and giving it to much care. Both of these stories are great

The group that I have chosen to identify with is the Franklin and Marshall Dance Company. The
company is comprised of over 50 dancers and is supervised by three authoritative professors. Each
fall, new choreographers are recruited by the company to each their choreographies, or reconstruction
works of other choreographers, in the Fall Dance Concert. Each spring, the students have the
opportunity to choreograph their own pieces for the Spring Dance Concert. These student
choreographed pieces either presented in the concert, which runs for three days, or in the Show case,
held only on a Sunday. During the spring choreography, each choreographer contends with the
corresponding choreographers to secure a spot in the concert, which galvanizes competition, hostility,
and tension. Conclusively, however, akin to any other campus organization, we, the members of the
company, share solidarity with each other with regards to certain ideas and acceptable behaviors. ...

As an underclassmen, compliance runs throughout the company; complying with the orders and
mentalities of those who serve as the agents. The notion of compliance creates an inequitable
environment, similar to (identity ambivalence), and gives rise to mechanisms of intergroup expulsion
if the compliance is disobeyed. For example, a dancer I performed with last year for a senior piece
refused to comply with her senior dancer by constantly castigating her style of dance and movements.
She was eventually excluded from the group, in the form of expulsion, and consequently faced both
informal and formal sanctions; informal sanctions by the dancers in the company and formal sanctions
by the head executive board of the company who regulates, oversees, and organizes the undocumented

Short Story Samuel By Grace Paley
Samuel Death is an inevitable event. Most times we have no control over how or when it will happen
and in the short story, Samuel, by Grace Paley, a young boy loses his life while he and his friends
partake in a very dangerous game. An unfortunate situation, it was and it leaves you to ask yourself
the question Who s to blame? After thoroughly reading the story, it becomes quite clear that though
the boys were taking a huge risk and acting childish, they were just kids being kids and the people
surrounding them could have done more to help them. The onlookers couldn t have known what
would happen, but they also didn t do much to prevent such a tragedy. The four young boys in the
story Samuel are acting careless and risky as they think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the people watching was a group of ladies who were very angry as they watched the boys.
Most of them looked stern in the face, hoping that the boys would sense their extreme disapproval.
One of the ladies stated she wanted to get up and say, be careful you dumb kids, get off that platform
or I ll call a cop. But then decided against it because they boys were Black and she was afraid they
would laugh at her and embarrass her. Another lady figured the kid s mothers knew where they were
so she didn t feel the need to intrude. With no interference from anyone the boys continued on playing
around and the train began to slow down and as it was slowing down the lady who was afraid of
embarrassment, saw the boys jerk forward and backward and grab the swinging guard chains. The
lady then decided it was finally time to save the boys for good so she stood up determined as ever and
went over to the boys and said, You boys will be hurt. You ll be killed. I m going to call the conductor
if you don t just go into the next car and sit down and be quiet. Listening to the lady two of the boys
said Yes m and acted as if they were about to go. The other two boys just looked at her and blinked
their eyes. Moments later just, as she suspected the boys began laughing at her and she was just as
embarrassed as she thought she would be. Fed up by this time, one

Essay on Investigative Reporting is the Driving Force in...
Investigative reporting has been a driving force in journalism for centuries. The reporting tradition of
revealing misconduct was already well established much before the 20th Century. Its practise even
predates the publication of the first successful colonial newspaper in 1704, demonstrating the press
watchdog role has had deep historical roots in democracy much prior to the 1960s. Over the past three
centuries, investigative reporters have tried to make a difference by raising public consciousness about
perceived wrongdoings. Prior to the early 1960s, investigative reporting was highly localised and
sporadic. This was a reflection of the character of early journalism and the technological limits of
communication. It was not until the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

used by a criminal landlord, Peter Rachman, to terrorise tenants. These examples set a trend and by the
late 1960s there were many new vehicles for investigative reporting in the national media.
One of the most notable reporters of the time was Ron Hall, who has been considered to have virtually
invented the art of investigative journalism in Britain, as one of a trio of young reporters in the 1960s,
he created the insight team of the Sunday Times. Shortly after he joined the paper, the scandal of the
Profumo affair broke so he began to produce a weekly detailed account of what had happened, digging
deeper into the background story. Shortly after that, the first truly investigative article written by Hall
was an account of the life and misdeeds of Rachman, the corrupt slum landlord. In the course of his 20
years on the paper, he was associated with some of its most important investigative stories, including
the Philby spy scandal, thalidomide, and the remarkable disclosure that the yachtsman Donald
Crowhurst, who had taken part in a round the world race, and had faked his journey, pretending to
have orbited the globe. Ron Hall was one of the most influential and talented journalists of his time,
an architect of the Sunday Times Insight pages and pioneered techniques of investigative journalism

Analysis Of The Book Romeo And Juliet And Great...
Why Diversify?
Everyone knows the classics. Romeo and Juliet, Jane Eyre, Great Expectations, the novels of white
characters in Western settings commonly read in high school English classes. Lost in the backrooms of
school libraries, The House on Mango Street and Uncle Tom s Cabin are hidden away, stories of
minorities boxed in by cardboard and majority rule. While America s student body becomes
increasingly diverse (and schools rush to adapt), some say curriculum has stayed monochromatic by
regularly painting the story of the white majority while failing to represent minority backgrounds and
experiences fairly and leaving minority students struggling to relate to texts presented in the
classroom. Others say the American curriculum should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alexie remarks on his experience dealing with this standard, remarking that a smart Indian is a
dangerous person, widely feared and ridiculed by Indians and non Indians alike (Alexie). He faced the
ideal growing up and noticed those who thought against it, like himself, were viewed as dangerous a
threat to the majority s power and capable of subverting the social order; he illustrates one method the
majority uses to maintain their power: those who threatened the ideal were mocked by both the
majority and minorities who were manipulated into adopting the ideal way of thinking to force
ideological rebels to submit to the ideal .
A historical example of majorities defining the right way of thinking, the ideal , is the Civil Rights
Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. In those years, leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X
rallied supporters to the cause of equal rights. These leaders carried revolutionary ideas they supported
uprooting the social order by giving African Americans equal status as other citizens, fighting the
effects of Jim Crow and modern day slavery that would threaten the power and security of the white
majority. As they marched and organized, protestors and supporters were confronted, often attacked,
by white police and white citizens across the South with many jailed, bloodied, and silenced in the
struggle for freedom. Viewpoints that antagonize the majority, like in the Civil Rights Movement, are

Similarities Between The Us And Russia During The 1800s
Were the United States and Russia similar during the 1800s? Both countries developed in such things
as education and literature, as well as work for families. However, it seems the United States
developed faster while Russia developed more in the later 19th century. Despite the rate of their
development differed, the United States and Russia s societies grew in family, education, and
literature. In the 1800s, couples in the United States viewed marriage as an act of affection and not for
economic reasons. Men were working in factories during the 19th century. Because the women were
not viewed fit to be in the work field, they focused on the housework and raising children. While in
Russia the largest social class worked as farmers. The men

Baby Pig Decomposition Research Paper
In class we watched the decomposition of a baby pig. Piglets are closely compared to humans during
the decomposition process because it s covered with hair, attracts insects, and its body fat distribution
is similar to that of a humans. Decomposition is a continuous process that can take as long as years
depending of the environment the corpse is in. There are multiple factors that play a role in how fast or
slow the decomposition process can be such as drugs, trauma to the body, access by scavengers, and
clothing.
During the video there were five distinct stages of decompositions. The first stage is the process of
autolysis. Autolysis consists of cellular breakdown, the change of body temperature, and the invasion
of insect in the body, laying eggs. The second stage is putrefaction which is the bloating of the body
due to bacteria and the gases produced. The third stage is black putrefaction in which maggots and
insects destroy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High temperatures tends to speed up the rate of decomposition and promotes a large amount of
maggots. Low temperatures slows down the process and the insect activity on the corpse. Windy and
dry weather causes the corpse to dry out causing mummification. Access to the body may limit the
insect activity. For example corpses with open wound tend to be decomposed a lot faster due to the
easy access. The cause of death could have left openings in the body making it easy for insects and
bacteria to infest the corpse beginning the stages of decay. In some cases when drugs are found in the
system of the corpse depending of the drug, it can either speed up the process of decomposition or
slow it down. The percentage of body fat can also play a role in the process of decay. Water content is
high in fat composition and bigger bodies hold more heat which promotes the growth of bacteria
causing the process to speed

Similarities And Differences Of The Inca And Aztec Empires
Throughout the previous time, pre European civilizations in the Americas, the Aztec and Inca empires
were separate and distinct civilizations. The two civilizations stayed with no question very progressed
and had their own intricated but very efficient society. Polytheism (who beliefs in multiple gods)
dominated both empires. They adored ideals broadly and fascinatingly, the Sun God maintained the
high place in mutually civilizations. However, both civilizations shared some similarities, there were
remarkable differences among the two empires. These contrasts and similarities could be observed in
many significant ways.
Religion was key component between both civilizations that I could clearly say their firm believes in
their lords. For instance, both empires needed human sacrifices to sustain living, they both
accumulated many temples in which they offered presents and sacrifices to their lords, and they both
had feasts where they expressed their generosity to their admired lords. The Inca and Aztec Empire
were quite different too when it was about their religion. The Inca for example prayed the sun god Inti
in a representative manner with ceremonies in temples. The Aztecs thought the Sun would only stay
awake if it established the most valued thing they had, which was human lifeblood. They scarified
chiliad of people a year and presented them often. It was very occasional for the Inca.

In July 1996, Thomas Zimmermann, manager of the European Sales Division of Computron, was
trying to decide what price to submit on his bid to sell a Computron 1000X digital computer to
Kšnig Cie., AG, GermanyÕs largest chemical company. If Zimmermann followed ComputronÕs
standard pricing policy of adding a 33 1 3 % markup to factory costs and then including transportation

ComputronÕs total worldwide sales that year were roughly $88,000,000. Of the European countries,
Germany constituted one of ComputronÕs most important markets, having contributed
$2,400,000, or 24%, of the European sales total in 1995 1996. England and Sweden were also
important, having contributed 22% and 18% respectively. The remaining 36% of sales was spread
throughout the rest of Europe.
Computron computers sold to European customers were manufactured and assembled in the
United States and shipped to Europe for installation. Because of their external manufacture these
computers were subject to an import duty, which varied from country to country. The German tariff on
computers of the type was 17´ % of the U.S. sales price.

Prompted primarily by a desire to reduce this import duty, Computron began constructing a plant in
Frankfurt. It would serve all 15 countries in the European Community and was scheduled to open
September 15, 1996. Initially it was to be used only for assembly of 1000X computers. This would
lower the German import duty to 15%. Ultimately the company planned to use the plant to fabricate
component parts as well. Computers completely manufactured in Germany would be entirely free
from import duty.

Enlightenment And The Scientific Revolution
Thirty Years War and Scientific Revolution were two major causes that led to the developing of a new
intellectual and philosophical movement called Enlightenment, or the Age of Reason. Religion, power
of human reason, natural law, individualism, hope, progress and many other concepts were combined
into a worldview that contributed to new innovations and changed people s lives and visions. This
period marked the importance of science. By using the scientific method, people were able to make
progress toward a better society.
One of the main characteristics of Enlightenment was reason, which was considered by philosophers
the most significant human aptitude. All ideas and opinions are supported by a specific reason. Logical
arguments were successfully used in science, mathematics, biology, politics, arts. The use of
rationality influenced the appearance of different moral values responsible for a person s behavior or

The Truth in Negotiations Act
The Truth in Negotiations Act was passed on December 1, 1962 requiring government contractors to
submit cost or pricing data if the procurement met specific requirements in order to establish that the
offer is fair and reasonable. The history of The Truth in Negotiations Act will set the stage for its
significance in the twenty first century. Prior to World War II, the United States government conducted
its bidding process for procurement in an open bid environment. What was required for a bid was a
complete description of the requirement, two or more suppliers capable and willing to complete the
requirement, a selection based on price competition and sufficient time to prepare a complete
statement of the government s needs and terms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was contended by GAO that the government s negotiator would be in a better position to establish
an equitable price if contractor cost data were made available. (Maddox, 2013)
In 1959, the United States Air Force took the beginning steps of implementing a process that was
based on the Government Accountability Office s recommendation. This process required certification
of contractor cost data, as recommended. The Department of Defense followed the example set by the
Air Force by issuing a revision to the Armed Services Procurement Regulations to require certification
of cost data.
The Truth in Negotiations Act has the purpose of insuring that the government is receiving a fair and
reasonable pricing, essentially helping to prevent defective pricing and allowing the government to be
able to get set retributions for defective pricing. This is something that is solely found in the world of
government contracting, as there is nothing similar to it in a commercial environment. A potential
supplier will have to supply the government with a certificate of current cost or pricing data.

My Lesson Sequence Using Venn Diagrams And Composition
I assess prior knowledge throughout my lesson sequence using a variety of ways. Before beginning
the learning segment, I will look at students prior work on comparing and contrasting to see where
each student is at in regards to their level of understanding. I found that while some students had a
good understanding of the strategy, there were still many students that could use a thorough
introduction to the concept. This allowed for me to begin planning ways to differentiate my instruction
to include the higher students and the lower students. I crafted the Central Focus students practice
compare and contrast by using Venn Diagrams and composing a paragraph that includes an
introductory sentence, two three details about how the two things are alike and different, and a
concluding sentence, to encompass requisite skills for my learning segment. The learning targets for
lesson 1,2, and 3, also address questions related to knowledge and skills aligned with the Central
Focus that support student learning. To reach the learning objective for lesson one, students practice
with me and with a pre assigned partner before doing anything by themselves. To provide additional
support to students with literacy needs and IEP/504 plans, I monitor their progress, offer guidance
with questions and different examples if needed, and give verbal cues during each lesson.

his mother, Coriolanus is a man at the mercy of his environment. The environment that shapes

Volumnia, unlike the other women in the play such as Virgilia, does not recoil from war and the

herself from the other women in the play who want nothing to do with war, I had rather eleven die
nobly for their country than one voluptuously surfeit out of action. (1.3.20 21). Thus the pride that
Coriolanus derives from his own wounds and wounded body is a product of his mother s pride in
having a wounded son. Volumnia describes with pride Coriolanus s bloody brow, Though you were

Volumnia procures from her son s victories and injuries winds up reflecting itself on Coriolanus who
describes these victories and wounds with equal pride. By the end of the first act, Volumnia s
descriptions of mothering demonstrate the warlike spirit she has channeled into her raising of

Voting System Of A Democratic Government
One of the most significant parts of a democratic government is how the population of the country

of these conditions, and could be implemented for use in the United States? There are three voting
systems that this essay will cover; these are first past the post (FPTP), the instant runoff, and mixed
member proportional representation (MMP). First past the post (FPTP) is the voting system that is
currently used in the United States. This voting system works by giving each citizen in the electorate
one vote to choose the candidate that they feel is the best option. FPTP has many disadvantages when
compared to the instant runoff and MMP voting systems. For instance, FPTP does not meet any of the
above criteria for an efficient voting system. FPTP does not always produce a government that best
represents the political views of the electorate. In some cases FPTP has produced results where the

The Power And The Glory Rhetorical Analysis
It is not the differences in humanity that bring division, but the inability to recognize, embrace, and
celebrate those differences. In Graham Greene s The Power and the Glory, his provocative tone is
most potent when he attempts to expose the faults within the Church. Greene also using elements such
as the setting of the plot to further progress the plot. Take for instance, the climate of Tabasco is either
blazingly hot, or wet and muddy. There seems to be no mediation, only extremes. This is compared to
the harsh political climate of the state. Additionally, Greene writes his novel not like a book to be read,
but instead like a sermon to be heard. His use of descriptive language paints a motion picture, his
prose reads as a movie. The dilemma ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons Greene rallies for the continuation of the Church is the numerous rich bouts of
culture that the Church brought to Mexico. Greene captures this essence when the Whiskey Priest
says, You don t remember the time when the Church was here. I was a bad Catholic, but it meant well,
music, lights, and a place where you could sit out of this heat and for your mother, well, there was
always something for her to do (Greene 45). As the persecution of the Church progressed, events such
as these began to become nonexistent. Greene shows the Church as the only provider of cultural
essence to Mexico. Additionally, even though Greene presents the Whiskey Priest far from a Savior,
he does carry some of the characteristics of one. More specifically, the Priest can almost be
represented as a Christ figure. Christ identified not with the sinless, but with the lepers and murderers.
The Priest followed the same principles and exemplified the same characteristics. Even though he
wasn t perfect as Jesus was, he was willing to risk his life for the forgiveness of sinners. In the novel,
Greene is noted saying, It was too easy to die for what was good or beautiful, for home or children or
a civilization it needed a God to die for the half hearted and the corrupt (331). Alan Grob makes an
interesting summation of the

The United Kingdom Of The European Union
On June 23rd, 2016 the United Kingdom held a referendum that would ultimately decide their
economic and global relationships with the European Union, along with the rest of the world. Brexit,
the highly known nickname of the phrase Britain exiting was vote to spate from their long standing
union with the European Union. As a 52% of the UK passed Brexit it began to start controversy on
whether they could or should operate by themselves. Immediately following that day, the price of gold
spiked up by four percent. Even before the vote, uncertainty had already arose on the future of the
European integration process if Brexit would to have been passed. As the outcome stands today, a
majority of the UK approved the detachment of the European Union and would now begin to suffer
blows to their economy in the short term, medium term and long term. One such impact that came
rather quick was the drop in stocks. The exchange rates were a particular hit on large banks of the
state. Though those two initial impacts recuperated in a week s time, interest on government bonds 3
months or older conceived losses that would not be as easy to recover from as argued by Fichtner,
Große Steffen, Hachula Schlaak (2016) evidence of this can be found in the prices of credit default
swaps (CDS) for gilts, which have sharply increased compared to those of German government bonds
(p, 302). Another prediction leads to believe that government financing costs in particular are to rise in

John Cena s Accomplishments
A man that can lift nearly 700 pounds can be admired for his strength alone. A man that grants over
500 Make a Wish wishes can be admired for compassion alone. A man that gives his heart and soul to
his industry can be admired for his work ethic alone. All of these reasons prove why John Cena is one
of the greatest human beings to ever exist. As a young child I loved professional wrestling, namely
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and I carried that intense love into my adult life. As a young
child I saw John Cena obtain stardom despite all the hate he received from more traditional wrestling
fans. John Cena says the 3 character aspects that enable him to succeed are hustle, loyalty, and respect.
Determined to replicate John Cena s success ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me hustle means to work industrious and never give up. I was born into a family were school was
an afterthought. From the moment I was born I was destined to join the family auto upholstery
business (repairs to the interior of a vehicle). My older brother started working in the family business
in his sophomore year and dropped out school in his junior to work fulltime. When my sophomore
year came around I also had to fulfill my obligations to the family business. It was arduous having to
work 20 30 hours and have a loaded high school schedule (7 classes, 4 AP). It would have been easy
to give up school and focus on work. It was during these difficult moments that I thought back to the
perseverance of John Cena. When I reached my junior year I was working practically full time and
had a college course load in high school. If it wasn t for the notion of hustle I would ve given up.
Believing in myself and working diligently in all areas of my life enabled me to have success. I
graduated with a 4.6 GPA and a wealth of trade knowledge. I am currently in college and still working
long and hard hours. Every time my spirit gets low I recollect the idea of hustle and power through
those tough

  • 2. John Bowlby s Research On Attachment The attachment between an infant and its primary caregivers has long been a source of debate and scientific study. Some older ideas on attachment would be, in today s standards, considered erroneous and insensitive. Harry Harlow conducted experiments on primates in the 1950s, to better understand attachment, while being controversial and certainly unethical, they provided a much needed insight into the bond between mother and child, and so led to changes in how women were encouraged to bring up their child. John Bowlby used Harlow s research to instigate changes in child rearing practices. Mary Ainsworth joined John Bowlby s research team in the 1950 s, based in London. • 5. Mentoring Programs And Development Towards Career Goals... Literature Review Mentoring Programs Face to Face Mentoring Mentoring is a relationship between a mentor who is a person of more experience and a mentee, a person who needs the advice and assistance. In our case, the relationship would be built on a mutual desire for progress and development towards career goals and objectives. This way of mentoring is a more traditional way in which a face to face meeting is organized to serve the objective. This method can exist between two people who already know each other and are comfortable with each other or in a formal mentoring program setting where two people meet for the first time and to share and direct. This way is extremely effective since both the mentor and the mentee gain knowledge and experience. The mentor improves their leadership skills while the mentee gains experience and awareness of a certain matter (Types of mentoring 2016). E mentoring This is a different approach to mentoring where everything is based off the internet and communicating through emails, social media and video calls. I believe that the relationship between the mentee and mentor in this case is not as strong and effective, however people who live in rural areas or who are too busy, would find it more convenient when they need a mentor. Of course, this method lacks facial expressions, posture, dress, social status indicators and vocal cues which makes it a less communicative and operative strategy (Types of mentoring 2016). • 9. Marcus Mill s Article On Connotations And Connotation 1. Stuart Mill s article on Denotation vs Connotation emphasizes the meaning of words which are a way for us to communicate with one another. He had his own theory on this article. His view on the meaning of words was that there was a distinction between the connotation and the denotation of a term. There are two kinds of descriptive values according to Mill. Denotation is the literal meaning of a term whereas connotation is the idea or feeling that the word implies; the conceptual representation of it. For example he states, The word white denotes all white things, as snow paper, the foam of the sea, etc., and implies, or in the language of the schoolmen, connotes, the attribute whiteness. The word white is not predicated of the attribute, but of the objects, snow, etc.; but when we predicate it of them, we convey the meaning that the attribute whiteness belongs to them 167). What Mill is implying is that the term white it characterizes the thing denoted by the expression. When we say the word white we think of these other things (snow, paper, wedding dress, white flowers) because they are defined as the color white. For instance, take the word home. The connotation of the term home would be a place of warmth, comfort, affection etc. She feels like home . It means that the person gives us a comforting vibe in which we can rely on to feel peace within ourselves. How it is denoted; the place where one lives (family members) for a certain period of time. The literature review at the beginning of the article explains the a brief history of the problem being studied and how more studies need to be conducted on the topic of recidivism among released prisoners. For examples, the literature review provides data and statistics that show the rise in the prison population by 475% within a 30 years spanned and the rise of prisoners who are released without supervision. Nitinol Lab Report Introduction The purpose of this lab was to examine nitinol s, a nickel Titanium shape memory alloy, solid phase transformations and behaviors, a shape memory alloy can be defined as a specific group of metal alloys that can recover from a seemingly permanent strain by applying a certain amount of heat to the substance. This occurs through a slight rearrangement of the atoms within the solid. The structure of the austenite phase of nitinol is very rigid and perfectly aligned, whereas the martensite phase is soft and can be deformed easily. Additionally this lab also explored identifying a set of unknown wires by comparing calculated densities to known densities for each of the wires, estimating the temperature when the transformation from the martensitic phase of nitinol to the austenitic phase of nitinol occurs, retraining the nitinol wire to a new austenitic shape, and examining the acoustic properties for nitinol in both the martensitic phase and austenitic phase through an online investigation. There are many interesting things hiding within the poem but there are a few specific ones I will mention. First, there are many different poetic devices used within this short poem. This includes imagery, similes, and repetition. Second, the symbol of this poem is the rose which is mentioned a few times throughout the poem. Third, the theme for The Wisdom Of Shelley is deception. Each of these points contributes to my understanding of the poem in its own way. There are many poetic devices used throughout The Wisdom Of Shelley . Repetition of words was the first thing that really jumped out at me. Clarke repeats the words words words words (4), and loved loved loved (15). What I believe this represents is how the character X only says empty words to what I presume is his family. If you need to repeat the word loved three times, then it starts to feel like you are only saying the words to make the other person happy. The first few lines of the poem say You come down, after / five winters, X, / bristlin with roses (1 3) and this can be taken as X has been gone for five years showing no signs of returning. He suddenly shows up with roses one day and expects all to be forgotten and forgiven. The presumed child does not want to forgive him and forget about what happened. • 24. Essay on Investigative Reporting is the Driving Force in... Investigative reporting has been a driving force in journalism for centuries. The reporting tradition of revealing misconduct was already well established much before the 20th Century. Its practise even predates the publication of the first successful colonial newspaper in 1704, demonstrating the press watchdog role has had deep historical roots in democracy much prior to the 1960s. Over the past three centuries, investigative reporters have tried to make a difference by raising public consciousness about perceived wrongdoings. Prior to the early 1960s, investigative reporting was highly localised and sporadic. This was a reflection of the character of early journalism and the technological limits of communication. One of the most notable reporters of the time was Ron Hall, who has been considered to have virtually invented the art of investigative journalism in Britain, as one of a trio of young reporters in the 1960s, he created the insight team of the Sunday Times. Shortly after he joined the paper, the scandal of the Profumo affair broke so he began to produce a weekly detailed account of what had happened, digging deeper into the background story. A historical example of majorities defining the right way of thinking, the ideal , is the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Piglets are closely compared to humans during the decomposition process because it s covered with hair, attracts insects, and its body fat distribution is similar to that of a humans. Decomposition is a continuous process that can take as long as years depending of the environment the corpse is in. There are multiple factors that play a role in how fast or slow the decomposition process can be such as drugs, trauma to the body, access by scavengers, and clothing. During the video there were five distinct stages of decompositions. The first stage is the process of autolysis. Autolysis consists of cellular breakdown, the change of body temperature, and the invasion of insect in the body, laying eggs. The second stage is putrefaction which is the bloating of the body due to bacteria and the gases produced. The third stage is black putrefaction in which maggots and insects destroy ... The cause of death could have left openings in the body making it easy for insects and bacteria to infest the corpse beginning the stages of decay. Of the European countries, Germany constituted one of ComputronÕs most important markets, having contributed $2,400,000, or 24%, of the European sales total in 1995 1996. England and Sweden were also important, having contributed 22% and 18% respectively. The remaining 36% of sales was spread throughout the rest of Europe. Computron computers sold to European customers were manufactured and assembled in the United States and shipped to Europe for installation. Because of their external manufacture these computers were subject to an import duty, which varied from country to country. The German tariff on computers of the type was 17´ % of the U.S. sales price. T Prompted primarily by a desire to reduce this import duty, Computron began constructing a plant in Frankfurt. It would serve all 15 countries in the European Community and was scheduled to open September 15, 1996. Initially it was to be used only for assembly of 1000X computers. The voting system that a country uses has a substantial impact on how the government of that country is run, and how well the concerns of the electorate are addressed. There are many important factors to weigh when selecting a voting system, but an efficient voting system needs to consistently address a few key issues. These include producing a government that represents the electorate s political views as closely as possible, preventing gerrymandering, and preventing two party rule. What voting system best accomplishes all of these conditions, and could be implemented for use in the United States? There are three voting systems that this essay will cover; these are first past the post (FPTP), the instant runoff, and mixed member proportional representation (MMP). First past the post (FPTP) is the voting system that is currently used in the United States. As a 52% of the UK passed Brexit it began to start controversy on whether they could or should operate by themselves. Immediately following that day, the price of gold spiked up by four percent.
