Queen Victoria Era
The start date of the era is officially 1837, the year when Queen Victoria, after whom this era is
named, became queen. Historians describe the era as prudish, hypocritical, stuffy and narrow minded .
The society valued behaving appropriately to the conventions and values of their time. For instance,
the ideal image of the Englishmen was idolized, which was meant to help civilizing or modernising
native population in the middle east and Asian countries Britain had conquered and were building
colonials in. Through that, the English language was spread widely throughout the continents.
Meanwhile, the middle class was increasing in number and also power, and began to lead Britain s
core industries like mining of coal or exporting raw

Htc Analysis Essay
HTC s CEO has asked you to help him by preparing an analysis that addresses the following: 1.
Identifies and analyzes the industry and competitive environment of the mobile phone industry based
on information contained in the case: HTC Corp. in 2009 including key industry and environmental
trends, competitive and structural characteristics of the mobile phone industry. 2. Your assessment of
the key challenges HTC faces in trying to achieve a sustainable model and long term success in the
industry? 3. Your assessment of the competitive and strategic position of HTC Corp. at the time of the

So all the other major players have to keep the prices lower than iPhone, because iPhone has the most
market share and has a strong customer brand loyalty. * To summarize, entry into the smartphone
industry is not HIGH but to sustain and compete against the major giants is close to impossible. 2.)
Competitive Rivalry within the industry: High Consumer base: Each firm targets a different set of
audience but most of the time overlapping audience. For e.g Apple targets high end customers, Nokia
targets the common and the sophisticated customers, RIM targets the enterprise. But the consumer
base keeps changing with the change in the dynamics of the industry. For e.g most of the enterprise
clients are shifting to Apple because of the innovative design of the products offered. Highly
Competitive market: The rivalry in the industry is because of the major players already competing b/w
each other. The major firms being Apple, Samsung, RIM, Nokia PALM and HTC. Although each firm
has their own strengths and weaknesses which might be related to design of product or marketing or
cost of handsets. Competitive Margins: Because of a large number of key players in the phone
industry and the cut throat competition. Every firm is forced to keep the profit margins per sale low
and hence attract more customers. Also the economic crisis during 2008 2009 has made the companies
lower their pricing and thus improve sales. 3.) Negotiating Power of Buyers:

Dental Implant Maintenance
Implant Maintenance
Dental providers are seeing more patients with implant supported prostheses during maintenance
therapy. This trend is only going to increase in the future as more dentists are offering implant
therapies in their practices and more patients are keen to accept implant therapy than a conventional
fixed partial denture or removable partial denture. Routine maintenance therapy is crucial for
preserving the peri implant health. Anatomy of dental implant supported prostheses (Diagram from

If an infection or an inflammation is present, the providers will have to develop a treatment plan. The
treatment plan may include non surgical therapy, possible antibiotics, shortening recare intervals, and
a referral for a specialist evaluation. Current protocol for probing around the implant has been
somewhat controversial but the consensus seems to be that it is safe to probe the implant without
disrupting the perimucosal seal. An experienced practitioner should be able to probe dental implants
without continual perforation of the weak seal. Inflammation is a critical factor that determines
whether an intervention will be required. Although many etiological factors exist, the most common
cause of inflammation around dental implants is excess cement that was not removed during crown
cementation. Cement may create inflammation even after dormant for many months. Merticulous
attempts to remove excess cement need to be practiced. Another source of the peri implant
inflammation is ill fitting supra structures.

A Day At The Touro Synagogue
On Saturday morning, October 15th, 2016, my friends and I visited the Touro Synagogue. We attended
a synagogue Sabbath worship which took place for less than two hours. I was really excited and eager
because I have never experienced any ritual service before. As I first entered the small chapel, I was
struck by the beautiful, magnificent architecture of the place. It was a clean, warm place with a nice
chandelier. The upper wall is covered with glass windows that help light up the small chapel and bring
a refreshing feeling. We were given directions to obtain the service books on the shelves outside
before the ritual service began. As I went further inside the chapel, a lady greeted me with the phrase
Shabbat shalom. All the people there were friendly and greeted us with smiles. I noticed some men
wore their Kippot and Tallitot. We had some small introductions and conversations. After getting
service books, my friends and I sat in the back row of the chapel. The place was quiet with a sense of
peace and contentment. A few minutes after, the Rabbi and the Cantor came in, and the Sabbath
service began.
As this Sabbath service was my first experience, I was curious about every little thing that happens.
During the Sabbath service, the Rabbi gave us directions to follow hymn pages in the service book.
This book was written in both Hebrew and English. There were different prayers with different
sections. We sat down in some parts and stood up in some other parts. Sometimes the

The Ethics Of Virtue Ethics
Virtue ethics is a normative theory whose foundations were laid by Aristotle. This theory approaches
normative ethics in substantially different ways than consequentialist and deontological theories. In
this essay, I will contrast and compare virtue ethics to utilitarianism, ethical egoism, and Kantianism
to demonstrate these differences. There is one fundamental aspect of virtue ethics that sets it apart
from the other theories I will discuss. For the sake of brevity and to avoid redundancy, I will address it
separately. This is the fundamental difference between acting ethically within utilitarianism, egoism,
and Kantianism. And being ethical within virtue ethics. The other theories seek to define the ethics of
actions while virtue ethics does not judge actions in any way. The other theories deal with how we
should act, while virtue ethics determines how we should be. The first theory I will compare virtue
ethics against is ethical egoism. The two theories share a commonality apart from being normative in
nature. They both seek what is best for the doer. Aristotle claimed that happiness is ultimately attained
by striving for the function of man which is the excellence found within virtue. This is comparable to
ethical egoism because of it s principle of exclusively acting in one s own best interest. While virtue
ethics states that a virtuous character is the goal, ethical egoism is not specific to what is in a person s
best interest. If attaining a virtuous character is

Earned Tax Credit Policy Analysis
For a start, as my policy analysis term paper, I subjectively selected the Earned Income Tax Credit
(EITC), based on my personal experience with the policy and from curiosity as how the mechanisms
of the policy truly operate. With that being said, the United States federal Earned Income Tax Credit
or Earned Income Credit (EITC or EIC) is a refundable tax credit for low to moderate income
individuals and couples particularly those with children (IRS, 2013). In this paper, I will first
introduce the Earned Income Tax Credit policy followed by the description of the problems/social
inequalities that necessitated the policy. Next, I will then describe the policy in great detail, list the
policies objectives/outcomes, and discuss any complications ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

for low levels of household income, but declines and ultimately is phased out as incomes rise (pg. 1).
There are three levels of ranges that apply to the Earned Income Tax Credit: the phase in range; the
plateau range; and the phase out rage that will be further explained in the policy description

Critical Success Factors in Debating
Critical success factors in debating 1. Introduction In successfully debating, it is equally necessary to
rely on both team preparation efforts, as well as public speaking skills. The art of debate has been
important throughout the entire history of mankind, often times people with powerful skills for debate
earning high powered positions. Today, the process of debate is still regarded as essential in public
communications and it can sometimes weigh in the balance between the winner and the loser such as
the recent case of the debates between the two presidential candidates, Barack Obama and Mitt
Romney. In the past, debating in public was reserved to the people who had an innate ability for public
speaking; nowadays however, the ability to debate is being taught in educational institutions. In the
recent past, the class has participated in a debate over the ability of the single gender schools to create
better learning environments than co ed schools. In conducting the debate, teams were created and
various tasks were assigned within the teams. As part of the educational process then, a question is
now being posed relative to the key factors which drive success in a debate. At this level, it is believed
that the success is ensured by a combination of team effort and good public speaking skills. 2. Team
effort As part of the educational process, the debate over the single gender schools versus the co ed
schools in creating positive educational

The Safety For Illegal Aliens
Safety for Illegal Aliens From January to August 2014 over 200 sanctuary cities released some 8,145
illegal aliens despite the fact that they were being held on criminal charges. Of those over 8,000
released, 1,800 of them were charged with crimes such as rape and child sex abuse ( Sanctuary City
Crime Wave in 43 States). Although there is no clear definition of sanctuary city each of these cities
generally have laws that limit how far government employees and law enforcement officials are
allowed to go to aid the federal government on immigration matters. Sanctuary cities should be
outlawed because they go against federal law, the release of criminals are endangering the public, and
negative effects it has on the economy. Sanctuary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So apparently in reality, funding cuts won t do much to stop these cities from resisting ICE. Something
needs to be done in order to prevent these cities and their politicians from resisting the federal law and
ICE. Not only are these cities resisting federal law, they are also endangering their own citizens who
live there as well. On July 1, 2015 in San Francisco, CA, a well known sanctuary city, Kathryn Steinle
(32), was shot and killed while walking with her father by an undocumented illegal alien Juan
Francisco Lopez Sanchez. Before his arrest after killing Steinle, Lopez Sanchez had been convicted of
seven felonies and been deported five times ( Sanctuary Cities: How Kathryn Steinle s death ). Lopez
Sanchez had been in prison following his fifth deportation for re entering the country, but was
transferred from Victorville, CA to San Francisco because of an outstanding drug related charge
despite the fact that he had an immigration detainer. However, San Francisco s DA refused to
prosecute him over a decade old marijuana possession case ( Sanctuary Cities: How Kathryn Steinle s

Sanchez would be released from prison, so that he could be

Biblical Interpretations Of Samson s Biblical Quotions
Biblical Quotations
Samson broke one of his three Nazirite vows: eating anything that is unclean, especially anything
associated with the corpse of an animal or human. His vows are brought up earlier in Judges 13 and
even earlier in Numbers 6: 6 8 and Samson breaks this vow in Judges 14: 5 9. This is where the
narrator is speaking and says starting in verse 8, he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion, and
there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey. He scraped it out into his hands, eating
as he went (NRSV).
Samson seems to break another Nazirite vow in Judges 14: 10 11 when the narrator says, Samson s
father goes down to arrange for the marriage, and Same made a feast was was the custom for
weddings. The word feast in this context suggests a drinking fest the Nazirite vow says in Judges 13:4,
be careful not to drunk wine or strong drink and clarifies more in Number 6: 3 4.
Foreshadowing
In the TLB version, Samson s parents ask him right away in the beginning, Why must you go and get
a wife from these heathen Philistines? From experience, my parents seem to always be right, so after
reading that dialogue, I saw some foreshadowing to Samson s wife doing bad things.
When he is basing his riddle off of a story, the vocabulary and motifs foreshadow the ultimately
deadly encounter between Samson and the Philistines if I were to keep reading into chapter 15.
The riddle also tragically foreshadows his demise by revealing that

Analysis Of `` Fences `` By August Wilson
A family by definition is any group of individuals living together under a common roof. However, it
does happen that sometimes a certain member of the family decides to forget what it means to be part
of a family. August Wilson s Fences portrays extremely well what happens when a member of the
family decides to forget his or her duties. The use of metaphors and symbols throughout the play such
as baseball and fences, illustrate exactly why Troy Maxson as a family man was destined for
disappointment. Rose, Troy s wife in the play was the obvious voice of reason between the two; all
she wanted was an interrupted happy family life. The fences that she put up were not physical fences
but rather emotional and psychological ones used to keep her family in line. These fences were made
very clear to both the reader and the other characters in the play. For example when Bono (Troy s best
friend) is questioning Troy s commitment to Rose he said, Some people build fences to keep people
out... and others build fences to keep people in. Rose wants to hold on to you all. She loves you. (898).
This excerpt perfectly described the different values shared between Rose and Troy but is also a
common generalization of gender roles in most family. The only fence Rose ever set up for Troy was
one of loyalty and commitment. She believed in the strength in numbers whilst Troy strongly believed
in the power of individuality. Troy on the other hand had a completely different approach when it

Examples Of Critical Discourse Analysis
CHAPTER 2
THEORITICAL FOUNDATION
2.1 Critical Discourse Analysis
To understand the concept of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), it is necessary to see how CDA
defines discourse. Discourse is not simply an isolated textual or dialogical structure (van Dijk, 1988).
It is seen as socially constructed ways that do not only shape but also enable (social) reality (Foucault,
1977; Paltridge, 2006). It involves a dialectical relationship between a particular discursive event and
the situation(s), institution(s), and social structure(s) which frame it (Fairclough Wodak, 1997, p. 258).
It also helps to establish power relations between social classes, gender, or majorities and minorities
groups (Wodak Meyer, 2009). Therefore, CDA acts as an approach that critically investigates the
relationship between discourse and the reproduction of power in social practices and interactions
(Fairclough, 1995 as cited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, one of the distinguishing features of DHA is its interdisciplinary method that considers a
variety of different empirical data and background information (Reisigl Wodak, 2001).
The historical dimension is realized by collecting all information regarding the historical background
and the original sources of the object under investigation and exploring diachronic change
(Matouschek et al. 1995; Wodak et al., 1990, 1994 as cited in van Leeuwen Wodak, 1999).
Specifically, the process of analysis in DHA starts by describing the phenomena occurred in texts.
Then, describing the apparent changes. Finally, discussing the result to find how and why change
occurs since the purpose of DHA is to uncover the ideology in diachronic texts (SlavĂckovĂĄ,

1. Compare and contrast the leadership styles of Mr. Keating and Mr. Nolan. Mr. Keating s leadership
style is supportive because he shows concern for his students well being and needs. He has a
charismatic attribute which helps inspire some emotion and passion in his classroom which is a big
change of character that Welton Academy students are used to. Mr. Nolan has more of a directive
leadership style because he has strict guidelines that he wants to teachers and student to abide by. He

Mr. Welton has the mentality of If it ain t broke, don t fix it and a successful leader must be willing to

4. What is the source of Mr. Nolan s power over the boys? Mr. Keating s? Mr. Nolan s power that he
has over the boys is legitimate power because he is the headmaster of the school. This type of power
inflicts fear on the students, as well as teacher s. The students know that Mr. Nolan has the power to
kick them out, call their parents, and even punish them with a couple smacks on the rear end with a
wooden paddle. The power that Mr. Keating has over the boys is respect. The boys respect Mr.
Keating because he was a student at the school and they see the way he turned out to be. He gives the
boys a hope to be something different and that the world is what they want to make it, not what
Welton Academy says it is.

Weather Associated On Weather Conditions
Generally to predict the future weather information we have to use the past weather reports. Todays
weather may not exactly match with weather of the same day in the privous year. The probability that
the weather condition of the day in consideration will match the same day in previous year is very
less. But the probability that it will match within the span of adjacent fortnight of previous year is very
high.So we can take the adjacent fortnights weather report into consideration to predict the current day
weather. To predict the future s weather condition, the variation in the conditions in past years must be
utilized. There are various approaches available in weather forecasting, from relatively simple
observation of the sky to highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artificial neural network was combined with the genetic algorithm to get the more optimized
prediction . An improved technique that uses artificial neural network with photovoltaic system was
proposed by Isa et al.that utilizes perceptron model with Levenberg Marquardt algorithm. Apart from
neural network Fuzzy logic has also been being used in weather prediction models. The rainfall was
classified into three fuzzy sets which can be predicted by making use of simple fuzzy rules . Also a
fuzzy self regression model was proposed by Lu Feng and Xu xiao Guang which makes use of the
form of self related sequence number according to observed number. The self related coefficients were
computed by making use of Fuzzy Logic . A combined approach of neural network with Fuzzy Logic
is being proposed for the weather prediction system. The work has applied principle component
analysis technique to the fuzzy data by making use of Autoassociative neural networks.
But the main problem with the methods discussed above is most of they don t provide any
mathematicalrelationship between different parameters. Data not been being mathematically described
and analyzed. But a mathematical model that could represent the relationship among previous data
that could be used for prediction is still desired. A new sliding window approach for the same is being
proposed in this text for weather prediction.

Significance
High performance, sustainable/green buildings have become a trend and are gradually entering the
mainstream as an important market sector in the United States and globally. Construction of a
sustainable building typically begins with the selection of a suitable site. A building s location and
orientation on a site impact not only a wide range of environmental factors but also security and
accessibility factors. The Site Assessment pilot credit for site sustainability measure promotes
understanding of the character of the site and the physical, biological, and cultural links between the

The Problem Of School Violence
The somewhat recent event of Sandy Hook has been a major focus of debate among any serious
discussion about school violence in America. Yet, just since Columbine, there has been over 100
school shootings, not including stabbing, rape, or even fist fights (in which there was serious injury or
death). Despite this unprecedented level of aggression among our nation s youth, the nation, in its
entirety, has not dedicated an appropriate amount of time and energy to coming up with a solution.
The bulk of the hard work needed in order to create a safer atmosphere for our children has been left
to our teachers. Yet, the workload of a teacher, along with his/her inability to interfere in out of
classroom affairs, would make him/her extremely inefficient in doing so. What exactly are these
expectations? How many of these standards can a teacher feasibly meet?
My first, and maybe only, sentiment with teacher involvement would be due to the assumption that
every violent child could have been saved before they resorted to violence. Many would say that the
student was merely distraught or abused and should suffer no blame for such atrocities. I find this
utterly ridiculous. When adults commit similar crimes, especially the murder of dozens of people, how
quickly does the public deem them psychopaths? Psychopathy is a very real and very serious
impairment. This mental deficit can have countless causes which may include the absence of oxytocin
on stimulus or an unluckily placed tumor.

Carbon Dioxide Gas Essays
06.05 Rate and Collision Theory: Assessment Instructions
Investigation of the Rate of a Reaction
Background:
The reaction you will be investigating is the reaction that occurs when an Alka Seltzer tablet is placed
into a given amount of water. Alka Seltzer is an over the counter antacid and pain relief medication
that is dissolved in water before it is ingested. Each tablet contains aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), citric
acid, and sodium bicarbonate. As the tablet dissolves in water, the bicarbonate ions in the tablet react
with the hydrogen ions from the acids that are also contained in the tablet. The carbon dioxide gas
produced by the reaction is what causes the bubbling that can be observed.

Be sure to write a detailed procedure for each lab design so that the same procedure can be followed
accurately by anyone who reads it. Include details on the setup, the control of variables, and how the
rate of each trial will be compared.
For each of your two reactions, most of the reactants and products can be difficult to see, and
concentration can be difficult to measure without the proper laboratory equipment. Therefore, it is
recommended that the volume of carbon dioxide gas produced over a given amount of time be used to
help qualitatively compare the reaction rates of each trial. If you have another way you would like to
compare rates of this reaction, feel free to explain it thoroughly in your written lab procedure.
Be sure your instructions include multiple trials for each factor to help ensure that the results of your
investigation are more reliable.

Marxist Realism In The Power And The Glory Greene
sacrifices his safety and chooses to help the mestizo and the gringo despite knowing that one is a
deceiver and the other is a criminal.
Suffering has changed the priest s physical appearance as well as his character. It has made him look
like a small man carrying a shabby dark suit (The power and the Glory 51) with dirty hands unlike the
soft hands of the priests in old days before the persecution. It has also made him outraged at his old
hypocrisy when he actually touches the pain of the poor that for a matter of seconds he felt an
immense satisfaction that he could talk of suffering to them now without hypocrisy it is hard for the
sleek and well fed priest to praise poverty. (The Power and the Glory 113). Thus The Power and the

His character is inspired by Tomas Garrido Canabal, the governor of Tabasco who got the state rid of
every priest. However, Greene had not found the idealism or integrity of the lieutenant of the Power
and the Glory among the police and pisteleros [he] had actually encountered [he] had to invent him as
a counter to the failed priest (Ways of Escape 85). His physical appearance reflects his strength, sharp
discipline, and principles: His gaiters were polished, and his pistol holster: his buttons were all sewn
on. He had a sharp crooked nose jutting out of a lean dancer s face; his neatness gave one effect of
inordinate ambition in this shabby city. (The Power and the Glory 62). The lieutenant is moved by his
fury against the Church and his love to the poor, that he commits his life to demolish any sign that
could symbolize the Church, even if he has to use extremely violent methods.
Despite his toughness, Greene shows glimpses of the good inside the lieutenant throughout the novel.
The reader comes to see that he is really a good man when he gives the priest money before knowing
his truth, and even after he knows that he is a priest, the lieutenant s character develops and softens; as
he breaks the rules he has always been committed to and brings the priest a bottle of brandy and tries
to find someone to hear his confessions. These actions show the impact of the priest on his

Difference Between Psychodynamic Theory And Humanistic Theory
In order to practice effectively, social workers implement various theories in practice. Theories play an
important role in providing knowledge for generalist social workers. There is a total of four different
types of practice theories: psychodynamic theories, cognitive behavioral theories, humanistic theories,
and postmodern theories. Each theory implements important ideas that are applicable when meeting
with a client. Two of the theories that have many similarities and differences are psychodynamic
theories and humanistic theories. To begin with, the psychodynamic theory was first started by
Sigmund Freud, a psychologist. He based the theory that traumas and childhood experiences link to
current issues. This theory has a strong emphasis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the psychodynamic theory likes to look at defense mechanisms to see how people
behave. Defense mechanisms are the impulse reactions people have to stressful events that occur in

theory does this by providing the what would make one achieve greatness, no matter the good or bad a
person has. For example, a humanistic therapy approach would be the therapist pointing out the

Civic Engagement And Citizen Engagement
Part I: At first, any participation with democracy in the United States would be appreciated. It is so
vital, and some realizes it, and some not. But, it is really still vital to judge any policy, and so every
and each idea is always needed. Most people, unfortunately, cannot realizes how important it is for our
democracy. Kraft and Furlong states a lot of information and idea about the importance of civic
engagement and/or citizen engagement with voting and judging the decisions and policies Kraft and
Furlong, 2015). There are many factors why citizens cannot or would not participate with politics. At
first, people tend to being impassive, so they do not even read news about politics in newspapers and
magazines. They even do not like to vote by giving their free time as a sacrifice to democracy. The
others, who participate with politics, mostly analyze every and each policy. After analyzing and
judging with plenty of brainstorming, they can object the policy, make it better with their new ideas,
or support the policy. If they do it so, it would theoretically an opportunity to participate with
democracy all we need, and this would be a democratic way (Black, 2014). Citizen engagement is an
issue to which we should be paying attention, it they look being impassive. Motivating every and each

The literary Trope of a Superfluous Man in Russian...
Russian literature was very much influenced by the literary trope known as the superfluous man. This
trope was ideal for writers to describe the shortcomings of Russian high class society. There has been
a witnessed general consistency when dealing with the superfluous man such as the exhibition of
cynicism and existential angst, while indulging in vices such as affairs, gambling and duelling. These
individuals are typically from noble birth yet refused to fit into society and disregard the societal
norms. This trend can be witnessed through many examples such as Alexander Pushkin s Eugene
Onegin and Diary of a Superfluous Man by Ivan Turgenev. The characters described by these authors

Social Class Variations In U. S. Family Life
Social class variations in U.S. family life starts with categories of people who share a common
economic position in the unequal society in which they live in (Strong and Cohen 82). Classes indicate
economic indicators such as wealth and income earned. These show what people have such as bank
accounts, houses, stocks, and retirement plans, but eliminates their debt such as credit cards, loans,
and mortgages. Social class is known to have structural and cultural dimensions. Structurally, social
class shows our occupations that we depend on for earnings, the power it presents us with, and the
opportunities we get to experience. Culturally, social class follows people s beliefs, attitudes, values,
and motivations that separate them from other classes. People are grouped together in classes because
of their similar incomes, amounts of wealth, degrees of occupation status, and years of education.
Social class is experienced differently by people throughout life. The four classes that are used in the
commonly used model are upper, middle, working, and lower classes. Upper classes represents about
one percent of U.S. families and usually can be born into their fortunes or live on yearly incomes.
Upper classes incomes can range from two million to hundreds of dollars. These people are
professionals, corporate executives, and managers who tend to have degrees from expensive
universities. They will live in private homes in separate communities away from others. Some people
will separate themselves among the upper classes based on how they earn their money and how long
they have lived their lives this way. Middle classes are considered the largest class among U.S.
families. Occupations in this class are found to be highly paid professionals such as lawyers, doctors,
and engineers. They have annual incomes that can reach from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
Middle class people are typically college educated, but may not have entered the same expensive
universities as the upper classes. They still have earned and achieved advanced degrees. Middle class
earners enjoy luxuries such as their own home, vacations, and can provide their children with
necessities throughout life such as college educations. White collar

Jablonksi Skin Color
In this video Dr. Nina Jablonksi from Penn State University talked about the evolution of human skin
color and why the gradient of skin color in humans exists. To begin this video she started by talking
about melanin, which is the main pigment in human skin. Melanin is produced in the lower layer of
skin and has two different types. The first type is called eumelanin, which is the most common type.
Eumelanin usually gives skin and hair black and brown coloring. The second type of melanin is
pheomelanin which is red and yellow in color. Certain amounts of these melanin are what determine
the different shades of skin tones. Melanin helps absorb the ultraviolet radiation which helps protect

This is shown by the skin pigmentation in the Maasai people of East Africa because the women are a
lighter skin color than the men. Skin pigmentation does not fully develop until adulthood as well, the
Maasai people show this as well. Over time, researchers have hypothesized that lighter skinned
people, such as Europeans or Asians, resulted from a chromosome mutation in dark skinned people.
To prove this hypothesis, researchers analyzed DNA of bones that are 50,000 years old from skeletons
of Neanderthals. These bones showed the diminishing pigmentation and through the DNA analysis it
showed the genetic mutation. In the end, scientists have done enough research to find out that people
should not be identified by their skin color. It is actually seen as a complete fallacy to identify people
by the pigmentation of their skin. Everyone comes from the same place and we are all alike. The only
real difference is the color we see but that is all, the differences truly do only run skin deep. We all
have the same ancestry and all of our skin pigmentation is almost identical. People need to stop

I See The Ever Approaching Thunder, By Anne Frank
I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which
will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think
that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and the peace and tranquility will return again
(Frank 276 277). What kind of girl would be able to say such a beautiful statement with the possibility
of death looming? Anne Frank could view the world in a way that is becoming near impossible
positively. She was a teenage Jewish girl who lived in Amsterdam, Holland during World War II. She
and her family went into hiding in 1942 and were soon joined by the Van Pelses (Enzer and Solotaroff
Enzer, eds. xxiii). While she was in the attic, she wrote her diary, which would eventually become a
famous historical document. She recorded her grumblings about her attic mates behaviors and her
feelings about herself and the Van Pelses boy. Through the two year period she was in the attic, she
wrote surprisingly philosophical observations of the world, and she also learned a vast amount of
information about herself. After her death, her father published the diary, and Anne Frank quickly
became a name that everyone knew. Although Anne s time on Earth was brief and short lived, her
legacy has inspired many through her well written diary. Annelies Marie Frank was born on June 12,

Success is the chance to go out there and use the resources available to take advantage of opportunities
that most people do not. Usually, things happen in life and it can prevent the process of obtaining
success. In the readings, The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara and Horatio Alger by Harlon L. Dalton
conveys the message that success is not always an everyday thing and it takes opportunities for it to
become part of life. In The Lesson , an angered girl named Sylvia is taken on a field trip to a toy store

Dalton states, Black folk certainly know what it is like to be favored, disfavored, scrutinized, and
ignored all on the basis of our race. Sometimes we are judged on a different scale altogether (273).
Dalton is trying to state that African Americans know what it is like to be judged and because of this it
creates a road block. In addition, race has become a universal problem that people tend to cause huge
tensions and the way Horatio Alger s essay states it is that everyone is equal would not be true. On the
other hand, Sylvia seems to be under the paradox that Dalton has stated about race. Sylvia throughout
the story goes on a field trip to a toy store where she sees items that cost a lot of money from the glass
window, but when she enters the store an issue occurs. Sylvia states, Not that I m scared, what s there
to be afraid of, just a toy store. But I feel funny, shame. But what I got to be shamed about? Got as
much right to go in as anybody (269). Sylvia is afraid to enter the store because the fear of race keeps
occurring in her mind. It is a huge issue because African Americans had many different views and it
made them feel insecure. Also, Sylvia knows that the toy store is fancy and expensive, which triggers
her to back off because she is from a poor background. Race has a huge impact on society, no matter
what way it is looked at and Sylvia s fear expresses that of many at the time.

Philosophy argues that misfortune is more beneficial than good fortune, for good fortune deceives, but
misfortune teaches (Boethius, 40). The valuable lessons that bad luck and misfortune teaches a person
is to live life modestly, appreciate everything that you have, be humble, and don t take anything for
granted. Lady Philosophy advises to reach the point in the wheel where good and bad fortune are
equal and then a person won t need either to be happy. If you have God and know yourself, than a
person doesn t need either to be truly happy. 4. Boethius relates the human experience of destiny/fate
and the divine foreknowledge/providence by interpreting their meanings in real life. Providence is the
immovable and simple form of all things which come into being, while Fate is the moving connection
and temporal order of all things which the divine simplicity has decided to bring into being (Boethius,
92). Boethius says that providence is what happens in one second for God and fate is what happens in
the course of a lifetime for human beings. He suggests that God knows the end of our lives right from

person to get there. Fate on the other hand is free will. Human beings determine what courses of

Scariest Moment In My Life
Since I was six years old, I lived my life in a constant fear of having to get deported back to my home

Would I have been living in the streets? Would I have to start working at the age of eleven like many

Introduction
Saddam Hussein was the President of Iraq from 1979 to 2003 and during his time in office was
responsible for a tumultuous period in Iraqi history. For the purposes of analysis of his leadership style
with respect to a Situational model, three areas of his career will be looked at separately; his rise to
presidency from Vice President, during the Iran Iraq War and post invasion of Kuwait.
Situational model of leadership
A widely recognised situational model is the model developed by Hersey and Blanchard (1969) and

This leadership style needs to be used sparingly since workers can often burn out due to the
demanding pace of the style.
Democratic Leaders: The Democratic Leadership Style gives members of the work group a vote or a
say in nearly every decision the team makes. When used effectively, the democratic leader builds
flexibility and responsibility and can help identify new ways to do things with fresh ideas. Care should
be taken due to the level of personal involvement required by this style and the decision making
process itself can be very time consuming.
Affiliative Leaders: The Affiliative Leadership Style is most effective in situations where morale is
low or teambuilding is needed. This leader is easily recognized by their theme of employee first.
Employees can expect much praise from this style; unfortunately, poor performance may also go
without reprimand.

Authoritative Leaders: If your business seems to be drifting aimlessly, the Authoritative Leadership
Style can be very effective in this type of situation. The authoritative leader is an expert in dealing
with the problems and challenges at hand and can clearly identify goals that will lead to success. This
leader also allows the employees themselves to figure out the best way to achieve those goals.
Coercive Leaders: The Coercive Leadership Style should be used with caution because it is based on

small size (Mundell, 1963). The model explains the mechanism of an economy that is open to foreign
trade for goods and financial assets, and gives economists a structure to analyze macroeconomic
policies. This model describes the relationship between an economy s nominal exchange rate, interest
rate and its output in the short run. With the model, many claim that an economy cannot have an
independent monetary policy, a fixed exchange rate and free capital movement at the same time. This
theory is often called the impossible trinity or the Mundell Fleming trilemma. According to this
theory, a nation has three choices. First, it can have a fixed exchange rate for its currency with another
and let capital flow freely across borders. Second, the country can set its own monetary policy and let
capital flow freely. Third, it can have its own monetary policy and a fixed exchange rate. However, the
country cannot simultaneously have a fixed exchange rate, free flow of capital and its own monetary
policy.
There are three curves in the graph of the Mundell Fleming model. In an open economy, equilibrium is
achieved in the goods market when production is equal to the demand for goods. The
investment/saving (IS) curve represents the value of equilibrium for different interest rates. As higher
interest rates discourage production through its impact on investment, the IS curve is negatively
sloped. The supply and demand for money determine the interest rate in an economy. The liquidity
preference/money supply (LM) curve represents the relationship between money and liquidity. Since
higher income leads to stronger demand for money, interest rate is an increasing function of output
level; hence, the LM curve is positively sloped. The balance of payment (BP) curve shows the
combinations of interest rate and real income where the balance of payment is in equilibrium, which
means that net export must be equal to net capital outflows. The BP curve is usually

Macario Film Analysis
Macario is a 1960 Mexican film. This film was based on the novel of the same name by B. Traven.
This movie was directed by Roberto Gavaldon which was a very well recognized director in New
Spain (modern day Mexico). This ninety minute film became so popular in Mexico. This Film was the
first Mexican film to be nominated for an academy award! This film entered the Best Foreign
Language Film. It became so popular that it won its entrance to the 1960 Cannes film Festival.
Macario the films name, is also the main character in this film. Another main character that is seemed
in the film is the death (la muerte). We also have our secondary characters such as Macario s wife,
God, the devil, and some members of the inquisition.
The story centers on Macario, a poor woodcutter. Macario works day by the to bring food to the table
so that his family can eat. His economic resources can barely keep himself and his family out of
starvation. After Macario sees the process in how roast turkeys are made, his dream becomes to eat a
whole roast turkey all for himself. He even tells his family that he would never eat unless he ate the
entire turkey himself. This worries Macarios wife. She becomes so worried that she herself steals the
chicken and gives it to Macario before he leaves to work. His hunger was stronger than his
conscience, that without even thinking about his kids, he leaves. However, just as Macario prepares to
eat the turkey, three men appear to him. The first appeared person

Type your single spaced responses (11 point font) to the following questions in the space provided. Do
not exceed the space provided. Handwritten responses will not be accepted. Your final worksheet
should not exceed 5 pages. In addition to bringing a hard copy to discussion, upload an electronic
copy to the ICON drop box by your discussion session time. 1. Introduction. Describe the health issue.
Describe how the health issue affects the body s ability to function properly. The health issue that I
researched was type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and is a disease
that causes blood glucose levels to rise higher than normal, which is also referred to as hyperglycemia,
according to www.diabetes.org. According to www.webmd.com , Type 2 diabetes tends to develop
later on in adulthood compared to type 1 diabetes that is often seen in young people who have
diabetes. As mentioned earlier, type 2 diabetes causes abnormally high levels of glucose in the blood.
With higher levels of glucose/sugar in the blood, capillaries can be damaged, which can cause various
problems such as blindness, and nerve loss, which can become so extreme in extremities such as the
foot, that parts of the foot or the whole foot may have to be amputated. Type 2 diabetes and
cardiovascular problem are directly related as chest pains, strokes, heart attacks and high blood
pressure are all associated with type 2 diabetes. Www.mayoclinics.org states that though no exact link

Psychoanalytic Theory Of Human Development
Psychoanalytic Theory
Psychoanalytic Theory is a theory of human development that holds that irrational, unconscious drives
and motives, often originating in childhood, underlie human behavior. It is thought to influence every
aspect of thinking and behavior, from the smallest details of life to the crucial choices of a lifetime.
Sigmund Freud is an Austrian physician who believed the stages of human development were
characterized by sexual pleasure centered on a particular part of the body.
Oral Stage (Birth to 1 year) In infancy, everything the child gets a hold of goes to their mouth. The
lips, tongue, and gums are the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. They love to suck on
their fingers or pacifier majority of the time, even in their sleep.
Anal Stage (1 3 years)
The anal is the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. During this time children are
beginning toilet training. They are now able to interpret when they need to use the restroom and able
to communicate to the parents when they need to go.
Phallic Stage (3 6 years)
During this stage, the penis is the most important body part, and pleasure is derived from genital
stimulation. This is the time when they begin to discover their genitals, girls may ask questions while
on the other hand, boys may feel a sense of pride.
Latency (6 11 years)
During this age of development sexual needs quieten down and children begin to focus on social
activities with friends.

Charge Of Mass Ratio Of The Electron
Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron
Cait McCormick
28 November 2016
PHYSICS 1750 01A
Professor Hoogewerff
Objective:
The objective of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron.
Background/ Motivation: The purpose of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron.
The charge to mass ratio of the electron is measured by accelerating electrons through a uniform
magnetic field with a constant potential difference. The electron moves in the magnetic field and the
equation for force of this electron moving can be manipulated to find e/m .
Theory:
For this lab, the charge to mass ratio of an electron was calculated by shooting an electron into a
uniform magnetic field causing the electron to accelerate radially inwards. This causes the electron to
feel a centripetal force, which can be calculated using the equation below, eB= (mv^2)/r
The centripetal force should be equivalent to the magnetic force, shown in the equation below, F_B=q(
v ⃗ × B ⃗)
Using this equivalence as well as the conservation of energy, it was possible to solve for the charge to
mass ratio. The magnetic force causes the electrons to move in a circular path which allows us to
model the force as a centripetal force. The electron beam speed, velocity, is created by the acceleration
voltage, Va, this is found by the following equation, eV_a= 1/2 mv^2
Setting both the centripetal force equation and speed equation equal to each other, we

SQL Server Vs. Oracle Data Types Database
While designing and defining tables in databases, it is important to find out the data type for each
column in the data tables. A data type is an attribute which defines the type of data an object can
retain: integer, string, data and time, etc. There are basically three main types: text, numbers and
date/times. The data types are different, depending on the database management system (DBMS), the
various types of which include SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL.

Many Oracle reserved words are valid object or column names in Microsoft SQL Server. For example,
DATE is a reserved word in Oracle, but it is not a reserved word in Microsoft SQL Server. Therefore,
no column is allowed to have the name DATE in Oracle, but a column can be named DATE in
Microsoft SQL Server. Use of reserved words as schema object names makes it impossible to use the
same names across databases.
You should choose a schema object name that is unique by case and by at least one other
characteristic, and ensure

A Report On Tesla Motors
Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers in Silicon Valley who wanted to prove that
electric cars could be better than gasoline powered cars. With instant torque, incredible power, and
zero emissions, Tesla s products would be cars without compromise. Each new generation would be
increasingly affordable, helping the company work towards its mission: to accelerate the world s
transition to sustainable transport.
After reading about Tesla Motors, the CEO Elon Musk describes his strengths as the Special Forces,
such as the navy seal. The comparison is like the Special Forces and they only recruits the best, so
does Tesla Motors. Another strengths that the company has are a good tracking record of the CEO
since Elon Musk has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SolarCity and Tesla Motors are collaborating with each other. Tesla stores are comparing to the Apple
stores and are an innovative to market the Tesla cars. The Tesla owned Superchargers are on average
16 times faster than most public charging stations. With Tesla Motors you won t have to worry about
running out o batteries since Tesla is building their own battery factory.
One of the Weaknesses that Tesla Motors might have is the fact that the CEO Elon Musk is not only
the CEO for Tesla Motors but he s also CEO and CTO of SpaceX making his schedule a busy one.
Another weaknesses are that people are still not sure of buying an electric car. The company is had to
start building Tesla stores, so people can visit and learn why electric cars belongs to the future. The
infrastructure around electric cars does not exist. Tesla Motors are doing their best to change this by
building Superchargers, which are like gas stations but for electric vehicles only. Another weaknesses
is that Tesla Motors only build the Model S car, so people really don t have different options in
choosing different cars. In the near future the company is designing an SUV called Model X, with
plans to design a cheap electric car, a new sports car, and even an electric truck to give it s customers
options when buying a vehicle. One thing that is not good for the company is that the batteries have no

But the consumer base keeps changing with the change in the dynamics of the industry. For e.g most of the enterprise clients are shifting to Apple because of the innovative design of the products offered. The treatment plan may include non surgical therapy, possible antibiotics, shortening recare intervals, and a referral for a specialist evaluation. An experienced practitioner should be able to probe dental implants without continual perforation of the weak seal. Inflammation is a critical factor that determines whether an intervention will be required. Although many etiological factors exist, the most common cause of inflammation around dental implants is excess cement that was not removed during crown cementation. Cement may create inflammation even after dormant for many months. Merticulous attempts to remove excess cement need to be practiced. We attended a synagogue Sabbath worship which took place for less than two hours. I was really excited and eager because I have never experienced any ritual service before. As I first entered the small chapel, I was struck by the beautiful, magnificent architecture of the place. It was a clean, warm place with a nice chandelier. The upper wall is covered with glass windows that help light up the small chapel and bring a refreshing feeling. We were given directions to obtain the service books on the shelves outside before the ritual service began. As I went further inside the chapel, a lady greeted me with the phrase Shabbat shalom. All the people there were friendly and greeted us with smiles. I noticed some men wore their Kippot and Tallitot. We had some small introductions and conversations. After getting service books, my friends and I sat in the back row of the chapel. The place was quiet with a sense of peace and contentment. A few minutes after, the Rabbi and the Cantor came in, and the Sabbath service began. As this Sabbath service was my first experience, I was curious about every little thing that happens. • 6. The Ethics Of Virtue Ethics Virtue ethics is a normative theory whose foundations were laid by Aristotle. This theory approaches normative ethics in substantially different ways than consequentialist and deontological theories. In this essay, I will contrast and compare virtue ethics to utilitarianism, ethical egoism, and Kantianism to demonstrate these differences. There is one fundamental aspect of virtue ethics that sets it apart from the other theories I will discuss. For the sake of brevity and to avoid redundancy, I will address it separately. This is the fundamental difference between acting ethically within utilitarianism, egoism, and Kantianism. And being ethical within virtue ethics. The other theories seek to define the ethics of actions while virtue ethics does not judge actions in any way. The other theories deal with how we should act, while virtue ethics determines how we should be. The first theory I will compare virtue ethics against is ethical egoism. The two theories share a commonality apart from being normative in nature. They both seek what is best for the doer. Aristotle claimed that happiness is ultimately attained by striving for the function of man which is the excellence found within virtue. This is comparable to ethical egoism because of it s principle of exclusively acting in one s own best interest. Earned Tax Credit Policy Analysis For a start, as my policy analysis term paper, I subjectively selected the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), based on my personal experience with the policy and from curiosity as how the mechanisms of the policy truly operate. With that being said, the United States federal Earned Income Tax Credit or Earned Income Credit (EITC or EIC) is a refundable tax credit for low to moderate income individuals and couples particularly those with children (IRS, 2013). • 8. Critical Success Factors in Debating Critical success factors in debating 1. Introduction In successfully debating, it is equally necessary to rely on both team preparation efforts, as well as public speaking skills. The art of debate has been important throughout the entire history of mankind, often times people with powerful skills for debate earning high powered positions. Today, the process of debate is still regarded as essential in public communications and it can sometimes weigh in the balance between the winner and the loser such as the recent case of the debates between the two presidential candidates, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. In the past, debating in public was reserved to the people who had an innate ability for public speaking; nowadays however, the ability to debate is being taught in educational institutions. In the recent past, the class has participated in a debate over the ability of the single gender schools to create better learning environments than co ed schools. In conducting the debate, teams were created and various tasks were assigned within the teams. As part of the educational process then, a question is now being posed relative to the key factors which drive success in a debate. At this level, it is believed that the success is ensured by a combination of team effort and good public speaking skills. 2. Although there is no clear definition of sanctuary city each of these cities generally have laws that limit how far government employees and law enforcement officials are allowed to go to aid the federal government on immigration matters. • 10. Biblical Interpretations Of Samson s Biblical Quotions Biblical Quotations Samson broke one of his three Nazirite vows: eating anything that is unclean, especially anything associated with the corpse of an animal or human. His vows are brought up earlier in Judges 13 and even earlier in Numbers 6: 6 8 and Samson breaks this vow in Judges 14: 5 9. This is where the narrator is speaking and says starting in verse 8, he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion, and there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey. He scraped it out into his hands, eating as he went (NRSV). Samson seems to break another Nazirite vow in Judges 14: 10 11 when the narrator says, Samson s father goes down to arrange for the marriage, and Same made a feast was was the custom for weddings. The word feast in this context suggests a drinking fest the Nazirite vow says in Judges 13:4, be careful not to drunk wine or strong drink and clarifies more in Number 6: 3 4. Foreshadowing In the TLB version, Samson s parents ask him right away in the beginning, Why must you go and get a wife from these heathen Philistines? From experience, my parents seem to always be right, so after reading that dialogue, I saw some foreshadowing to Samson s wife doing bad things. When he is basing his riddle off of a story, the vocabulary and motifs foreshadow the ultimately deadly encounter between Samson and the Philistines if I were to keep reading into chapter 15. • 11. Analysis Of `` Fences `` By August Wilson A family by definition is any group of individuals living together under a common roof. However, it does happen that sometimes a certain member of the family decides to forget what it means to be part of a family. August Wilson s Fences portrays extremely well what happens when a member of the family decides to forget his or her duties. The use of metaphors and symbols throughout the play such as baseball and fences, illustrate exactly why Troy Maxson as a family man was destined for disappointment. Rose, Troy s wife in the play was the obvious voice of reason between the two; all she wanted was an interrupted happy family life. The fences that she put up were not physical fences but rather emotional and psychological ones used to keep her family in line. These fences were made very clear to both the reader and the other characters in the play. For example when Bono (Troy s best friend) is questioning Troy s commitment to Rose he said, Some people build fences to keep people out... and others build fences to keep people in. Rose wants to hold on to you all. She loves you. (898). This excerpt perfectly described the different values shared between Rose and Troy but is also a common generalization of gender roles in most family. The only fence Rose ever set up for Troy was one of loyalty and commitment. She believed in the strength in numbers whilst Troy strongly believed in the power of individuality. Troy on the other hand had a completely different approach when it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Examples Of Critical Discourse Analysis CHAPTER 2 THEORITICAL FOUNDATION 2.1 Critical Discourse Analysis To understand the concept of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), it is necessary to see how CDA defines discourse. Discourse is not simply an isolated textual or dialogical structure (van Dijk, 1988). It is seen as socially constructed ways that do not only shape but also enable (social) reality (Foucault, 1977; Paltridge, 2006). It involves a dialectical relationship between a particular discursive event and the situation(s), institution(s), and social structure(s) which frame it (Fairclough Wodak, 1997, p. 258). It also helps to establish power relations between social classes, gender, or majorities and minorities groups (Wodak Meyer, 2009). Therefore, CDA acts as an approach that critically investigates the relationship between discourse and the reproduction of power in social practices and interactions (Fairclough, 1995 as cited ... Yet, just since Columbine, there has been over 100 school shootings, not including stabbing, rape, or even fist fights (in which there was serious injury or death). Despite this unprecedented level of aggression among our nation s youth, the nation, in its entirety, has not dedicated an appropriate amount of time and energy to coming up with a solution. The bulk of the hard work needed in order to create a safer atmosphere for our children has been left to our teachers. Yet, the workload of a teacher, along with his/her inability to interfere in out of classroom affairs, would make him/her extremely inefficient in doing so. What exactly are these expectations? How many of these standards can a teacher feasibly meet? • 27. Social Class Variations In U. S. Family Life Social class variations in U.S. family life starts with categories of people who share a common economic position in the unequal society in which they live in (Strong and Cohen 82). Classes indicate economic indicators such as wealth and income earned. These show what people have such as bank accounts, houses, stocks, and retirement plans, but eliminates their debt such as credit cards, loans, and mortgages. Social class is known to have structural and cultural dimensions. Structurally, social class shows our occupations that we depend on for earnings, the power it presents us with, and the opportunities we get to experience. Culturally, social class follows people s beliefs, attitudes, values, and motivations that separate them from other classes. People are grouped together in classes because of their similar incomes, amounts of wealth, degrees of occupation status, and years of education. Social class is experienced differently by people throughout life. The four classes that are used in the commonly used model are upper, middle, working, and lower classes. Upper classes represents about one percent of U.S. families and usually can be born into their fortunes or live on yearly incomes. Upper classes incomes can range from two million to hundreds of dollars. These people are professionals, corporate executives, and managers who tend to have degrees from expensive universities. They will live in private homes in separate communities away from others. Some people will separate themselves among the upper classes based on how they earn their money and how long they have lived their lives this way. Middle classes are considered the largest class among U.S. families. Occupations in this class are found to be highly paid professionals such as lawyers, doctors, and engineers. They have annual incomes that can reach from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Middle class people are typically college educated, but may not have entered the same expensive universities as the upper classes. They still have earned and achieved advanced degrees. To begin this video she started by talking about melanin, which is the main pigment in human skin. Melanin is produced in the lower layer of skin and has two different types. The first type is called eumelanin, which is the most common type. Eumelanin usually gives skin and hair black and brown coloring. The second type of melanin is pheomelanin which is red and yellow in color. Certain amounts of these melanin are what determine the different shades of skin tones. Skin pigmentation does not fully develop until adulthood as well, the Maasai people show this as well. Over time, researchers have hypothesized that lighter skinned people, such as Europeans or Asians, resulted from a chromosome mutation in dark skinned people. To prove this hypothesis, researchers analyzed DNA of bones that are 50,000 years old from skeletons of Neanderthals. These bones showed the diminishing pigmentation and through the DNA analysis it showed the genetic mutation. In the end, scientists have done enough research to find out that people should not be identified by their skin color. It is actually seen as a complete fallacy to identify people by the pigmentation of their skin. Everyone comes from the same place and we are all alike. The only real difference is the color we see but that is all, the differences truly do only run skin deep. We all have the same ancestry and all of our skin pigmentation is almost identical. What kind of girl would be able to say such a beautiful statement with the possibility of death looming? Anne Frank could view the world in a way that is becoming near impossible positively. • 43. The Economic Theory Of The Mundell-Drinking Model The Mundell Fleming model is an economic model introduced by Robert Mundell and Marcus Fleming. This model is an extension of the IS LM model. The traditional IS LM model studies a closed economy (autarky), whereas the Mundell Fleming model explains an open economy with a small size (Mundell, 1963). The model explains the mechanism of an economy that is open to foreign trade for goods and financial assets, and gives economists a structure to analyze macroeconomic policies. This model describes the relationship between an economy s nominal exchange rate, interest rate and its output in the short run. With the model, many claim that an economy cannot have an independent monetary policy, a fixed exchange rate and free capital movement at the same time. This theory is often called the impossible trinity or the Mundell Fleming trilemma. According to this theory, a nation has three choices. First, it can have a fixed exchange rate for its currency with another and let capital flow freely across borders. Second, the country can set its own monetary policy and let capital flow freely. Third, it can have its own monetary policy and a fixed exchange rate. However, the country cannot simultaneously have a fixed exchange rate, free flow of capital and its own monetary policy. There are three curves in the graph of the Mundell Fleming model. In an open economy, equilibrium is achieved in the goods market when production is equal to the demand for goods. The investment/saving (IS) curve represents the value of equilibrium for different interest rates. As higher interest rates discourage production through its impact on investment, the IS curve is negatively sloped. The supply and demand for money determine the interest rate in an economy. The liquidity preference/money supply (LM) curve represents the relationship between money and liquidity. Since higher income leads to stronger demand for money, interest rate is an increasing function of output level; hence, the LM curve is positively sloped. The balance of payment (BP) curve shows the combinations of interest rate and real income where the balance of payment is in equilibrium, which means that net export must be equal to net capital outflows. The BP curve is usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Charge Of Mass Ratio Of The Electron Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron Cait McCormick 28 November 2016 PHYSICS 1750 01A Professor Hoogewerff Objective: The objective of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron. Background/ Motivation: The purpose of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron. The charge to mass ratio of the electron is measured by accelerating electrons through a uniform magnetic field with a constant potential difference. The electron moves in the magnetic field and the equation for force of this electron moving can be manipulated to find e/m . Theory: For this lab, the charge to mass ratio of an electron was calculated by shooting an electron into a uniform magnetic field causing the electron to accelerate radially inwards. This causes the electron to feel a centripetal force, which can be calculated using the equation below, eB= (mv^2)/r The centripetal force should be equivalent to the magnetic force, shown in the equation below, F_B=q( v ⃗ × B ⃗) Using this equivalence as well as the conservation of energy, it was possible to solve for the charge to mass ratio. The magnetic force causes the electrons to move in a circular path which allows us to model the force as a centripetal force. The electron beam speed, velocity, is created by the acceleration voltage, Va, this is found by the following equation, eV_a= 1/2 mv^2 Setting both the centripetal force equation and speed equation equal to each other, we ...
