Stereotypes Of Women In Sports
Though being athletic and masculine have been a man s physical description, women have fought to
prove those gender stereotypes wrong. Women have been defeating the odds of athleticism and
masculinity that men realized, but wanted to hide and not appreciate their work. Through time men
and women have made an effort to come together to bring attention to the downgrading of women in
sports to earn acknowledgement and respect. With this, history has described men and women s sports
as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds yet again. Women participating in
athletic activities and sports date back millennia. Stories of women playing ball dates back to 800 BC
in Homer s works of The Iliad. Until the 1870 s, women never had the luxury of sports classified for
women specifically. Multitasking was a high concern. People thought that each person had a set
amount of energy and multitasking would deplete this energy rapidly that could cause harm to that
individual. Women were highly encouraged to limit their activity so they would not fatigue their
selves so quickly to avoid harm to their body. Doctors of this time believed this over exertion could
damage reproductive organs, decrease fertility rate, excessive stimulate emotions to the extent of a
nervous breakdown, and even bizarre as decrease in a woman s sexual inhibition if she excessively
indulged in sports (Cahn par. 4). There were fashionable activities such as horseback riding for women

Analysis Of A True Hero In Candide By Volitare
It seems that any person who carries some sort of characteristic of a hero goes through varies trails in
life. Whether if those trails are driving a man or women into something greater or realizing that they
themselves are less than anyone else. A man or a women that tends to lean on situation in life can
show themselves to be a hero because it shows their inner being and true self. When life throws
hardships and circumstance in their own life, a person who sees themselves as a hero are more aware
that tribulations in life can define how much it takes to be devoted, committed, and humble. Heroes
are mostly told in any sort of writing with a drastic journey or an ordinary story. Many people have
many definitions or aspects of what a hero is to them and discover their true identity. Although, a hero
can be an extreme character to most people, it brings many different appearances on what a true hero
is like. In the novel Candide by Volitare, the author demonstrates the main character s identity of being
a hero by going through a journey of finding his love Cunegonde. Throughout the novel Candide, the
main character, has discover himself on a journey that defines what some characteristics of a hero are.
Because there are many views of what a hero is supposed to be, the importance of noticing the novel s
idea on what a hero is shows that there is no limit of being a hero. To begin with, Candide can be
described in many ways by any person who has read the novel. However the author brought out
details of Candide s actions or motives on what life brings him. Whether if he was losing his friends or
a natural disaster occur, different aspects are displayed through his responses. Being a hero can be
described through its actions and motives by laying out the foundation on what their mindset is on. As
for Candide, his mindset was always on his lover Cunegonde and his goal was to be reunited with her.
Through his actions and behavior brings out the idea of what the novel captures the message. That the
message shows the manner on having no limit or boundaries in acting as a hero. For instance, doing
something out of the ordinary or unexpected in which it leads to a good purpose, can support the idea
of having no

Summer Driving Vs Winter Driving Research Paper
Could you tell me the vast differences and similarities between summer and winter driving skills?
Winter driving is the most dangerous time to drive. This is because of all the weather that goes on.
Driving in the summer is probably peoples most favorite time to drive because of the nice weather and
family vacations. The obvious differences of these two seasons are the precipitation and temperature.
Fortunately, driving in both these seasons can share the same qualities. During the winter season the
weather conditions are totally different from the summer. This means the driving techniques of the
drivers are going to be different also. When driving in the winter you have to deal with snow storms,

Jeremy Bentham Utilitarianism
On February 15th 1748, Jeremy Bentham, who would become the chief expounder of utilitarianism,
was born in London, England. Born to two attorneys, Jeremy grew up in a time of major economic,
social and political reform. The Industrial Revolution, rise of the middle class, and the coming
revolutions in France and America were just some major changes Bentham was able to witness.
Entering Queens College in 1760, and studying law at Lincoln s Inn in 1764. Despite being qualified
to practice law, he never did so. Bentham prefered to write matters of legal reform although, he never
went on to publish much of his work.
Utilitarianism was developed in the late 18th and 19th century by Jeremy Bentham alongside fellow
philosopher, John Stuart Mill. Utilitarianism is defined as the moral worth of an action is determined
by its contribution in overall utility by maximizing happiness or pleasure as summed among all
people. Utility in philosophy is defined as actions or behaviours that promote happiness and pleasure
are right, while actions and behaviours that cause unhappiness are wrong. A man of positive law,
Bentham believed morals and legislation could be described scientifically, but they needed an account
of human nature. Human nature and behaviour could be explained and controlled by two primary
motives: pain and pleasure. Bentham believed pain and pleasure not only act a explanations for people
s actions, but they can also define an individual s good. According to Bentham s

Invertebrates In Alzheimer s Essay
Invertebrates in Alzheimer s
Recent medical advances, such as gaining the ability to observe closely the genetic makeup of an
individual, have led to the discovery that some invertebrates are somewhat genetically similar to
humans. Organisms like Caenorhabditis elegans, nematode worm, and Drosophila melanogaster, fruit
fly, appear to have genes similar to humans, where Alzheimer s disease genes are found. These
similarities will help researchers learn more about this relatively unknown disease and potentially save
human lives. The DNA of C. elegans and Drosophila can be used as models for studying the disease
and for testing new drugs to be used later on humans. These advances may lead to discoveries in
medicine that can save human lives in the future.
C. Elegans is a non parasitic round worm (nematode) found in locations rich with nutrients and
microorganisms, since it feeds on bacteria. This organism is commonly used as a model for testing
ideas related to aging, genetics, and drug response. This is because the genome sequence is very

Mueller Reasoning
Heaven is According to Mueller images of joy that lie before us, but words can t fully embrace the
joys of heaven. No eyes has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has
prepared for those who love him these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit (1 Corinthians
2:9 10)
Therefore, based on Mueller reasoning in order for a person to get into heaven has to receive God s
grace. Though God desires the salvation of all human beings but he has done all the necessary for our
salvation in Jesus Christ. Furthermore, we will have to be immortal and free of temptation, sin,
disease, death, and all the other effects of sin. Our current lives are so affected by sinfulness that we

The Battle Of The Union Line
Even despite Jackson s victory on May 2nd, by the next morning Hooker s forces were still in a strong
position. Union forces numbered 76,000 to Lee s 43,000 and overnight Reynolds corps from
Fredericksburg had arrived to replace Howard s defeated corps. Hooker then ordered Sickles to
withdraw his men from Hazel Grove to a new position on Plank Road. This decision by Hooker was
another costly mistake because it conceded the only high ground to the Confederates. After Sickles
movement back to Plank Road, the Union line resembled a giant horseshoe around Chancellorsville.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., Lee attacked the Union line from all three sides: Stuart, who had taken
over for Jackson from the west, Anderson from the southeast, and McLaws from the east. Using their
newly acquired ground at Hazel Grove as an artillery platform to support the assault, the Confederates
beat back the Union s fierce resistance around Chancellorsville. At around 10 a.m. after the heaviest
fighting of the battle, Hooker ordered his army to retreat to a position circling their ford site of the
Rappahannock. As Lee rode up to survey the scene at Chancellorsville wild triumphant shouts came
from his soldiers (Sears 365). However, Lee s moment was cut short upon the news that Sedgwick s
forces had broken through the Confederate s east flank at Fredericksburg. Sedgwick, following orders
from Hooker had attacked Early s small Confederate contingent left at Fredericksburg at 7 a.m. Early s

* Patient loyalty and satisfaction is enhanced (Shaw Resources, n.d.).
Pros and Cons of Quality Improvement Methodologies
There are always pros and cons to any quality improvement methodology. For instance, the pros of
Six Sigma tend to place extreme importance on leadership and its support for the success of the
project. Another pro is the integration of different human elements, which include cultural change, and
focus on the customer and their needs. By using the concept of statistical thinking, Six Sigma
encourages applications of statistical tools and techniques that reduce variability (Harry, 2000). The
cons of Six Sigma include, not having the quality data available, especially when a new process has
been implemented without having the data available. Often the solutions that Six Sigma proposes can

Comparing Daoism And Confucianism
While Daoism and Confucianism are of two different strains of thought they often flow in the same
way like two parallel rivers in governance in aspects of life, in practice the two systems are often flow
be each other to some degree but never interconnect at any points. Confucianism deals with social
matters, while Taoism concerns itself with the search for meaning. They share common beliefs about
man, society, and the universe, although these notions were around long before either philosophy.
Confucianism and Daoism are the two most influential philosophies in China both having their roots
during the Zhou Dynasty The political and social environment that inspired these schools of thought

According to Confucius, each person should act with virtue in all social matters; family, community,
state, and kingdom, to ensure order and unity. Man s virtue in all its forms is called ren which would
make sense but Daoism does not make much sense the ideology in which the ideal ruler and
government do not interfere in the lives of the people and lead them to prosperity of primitive
simplicity by nonaction and focuses on intuitive spontaneity. It is civilization that has corrupted
humanity from its early state of innocence but realistically as a person or society lives and ages there
is no such thing as innocence as one must grow and learn. The sage practices nonaction, gives up
worldly ambitions, and lives a simple life in accord with nature though that one does. The dedication
to right relationships and a solid social order contrast directly with the inner direct intuition of Taoism.
While both philosophies of Confucianism and Taoism may end up with the same result in having a
healthy society, one is taught and can culminate in results while the other is impeded by environmental
variables and through inaction and exclusiveness may cause more

The Importance Of Sports Psychology In Sports
Sports psychology is one of the most up and coming sciences in the field of psychology. The primary
focus of this field is to teach these athletes in utilizing their mental capacity and their physical talent to
the fullest to reach that max performance. Psychologist in the sports field examine the performance of
the players and use principles that include motivational, cognitive, and behavioral attributes to reach
these high performance levels (Cox, 2012). A large portion of success that occur in sports is due to
mental factors and mastering the psychological aspect of it. Seeing the importance of mental training
in the past years has become crucial today. Scientist have developed a variety of mental training
programs that focus on mastering the skill of self confidence (Cox, 2012).
Real life example of mental training According to Voight (2005), sports psychology refers to assisting
athletes to cleanse the mind of the clutter that is preventing them from achieving their goal in sports.
Voight also mentioned of an individual of the name James Dodson who is an American sports writer.

Analyzing The Painting Baptism Of Pocahontas
The painting, Baptism of Pocahontas was commissioned in 1837. John Gadsby Chapman installed the
painting in November of 1840. This painting was created during a time when the United States was
forcefully expanding westward and had implemented a policy to remove the Indian tribes off their
lands. One example of incorporating religious content and context includes Chapman s focus on the
religious ceremony of baptism. This inclusion illustrates the belief among white Americans of this
period that Native Americans could be integrated into the white civilization. Pocahontas choosing to
receive baptism exemplified the promises of this assimilation. Although the painting depicts

Amendments Of The First Amendment
First Amendment: 1. The first amendment addresses that people have the freedom to practice and
engage in a religion and the government cannot impose on this right. This same amendment also states
that we have a right and freedom of speech, press, petition the government and also peaceful
assemblies of people (so protest or even walks for different causes). 2(a): In North Carolina, there was
a law that banned sex offenders from using social media in efforts of deterring them from preying on
people through the means of the internet. Although this would sound great to a majority of people who
cannot support these evil individuals, the Supreme Court decided that by taking away someones
privilege of using social media, it was inevitably taking away their right of free speech. The Court also
went on to doing away with this law in North Carolina. This court case was Packingham vs. North
Carolina (http://www.newseuminstitute.org/first amendment center/supreme court cases/) 2(b): In
Missouri a church was deemed ineligible for receiving public funding because it was a place of
religious worship. The Supreme Court said that this imposed on the churches first amendment rights
because this church qualified for some funding and even though it was a house of worship, the first
amendment allows them to practice religion freely without any government intervention. This also led
them to say that they were eligible for funding and should have received it.

Too Safe Schools Coalition ( Ssc ) Is A Government Funded...
Somewhat safe schools?
Safe Schools Coalition (SSC) is a government funded national coalition of organisations and schools
that started in 2013 (it originated from an earlier Victorian version). It is a program apparently aimed
at creating an inclusive environment for queer students and reducing bullying for them. It provides
member schools professional development for staff, resources, advice and support to students and
their schools. However, there has been a recent outcry over the content of the program and its
supposed agenda. Sparked by a motion put forward by Nationals Minister George Christensen, the
Turnbull government initiated an independent review of the program. When the review was released,
major changes were announced and the Education minister confirmed that funding for the program
will not be renewed after 2017. This has sparked rallies and backlash. Notably, the Victorian and ACT
State Governments have announced their intention to keep the program in the original state and fund
it. In discouraging the bullying of LGBTI students, it seeks to upend traditional understandings of
gender and impose cultural values offensive to most Australians.
The quote above highlights some of underlying bias behind many proponents of the SSC. It holds that
creating an environment where people feel accepted and all bullying discouraged isn t something to
aspire to if it challenge pre existing notions. The focus on queer students is the result of
disproportionate bullying

Analysis Of Kafka On The Shore
It is natural for humans to question the meaning and nature of their existence in a world that is
constantly evolving and asking more questions of its inhabitants. In his 467 page novel Kafka on the
Shore, Haruki Murakami explores this complex and deeply confusing issue through the lens of two
protagonists Kafka, an outcast 15 year old boy with a grotesque Oedipus Complex; and Nakata, a
pensioner who was subject to a disastrous trauma in the Second World War. Through their stories,
Murakami guides the reader through challenging concepts under the guise of magical realism: a
technique he uses to develop themes and meanings that would otherwise be inaccessible to a writer
with a more conventional approach. In the novel, time is bent, ... Show more content on

a mysterious being who can only be described as Kafka s subconscious. Crow speaks to Kafka
throughout the novel, and brings him reason and guidance when his literal existence simply does not
suffice. Initially, Crow reminds Kafka:
Sometimes fate is like a small sandstorm that keeps changing directions. You change direction but the
sandstorm chases you. You turn again, but the storm adjusts. Over and over you play this out, like
some ominous dance with death just before dawn. Why? Because this storm isn t something that blew

you. So all you can do is give in to it, step right inside the storm, closing your eyes and plugging up
your ears so the sand doesn t get in, and walk through it, step by step. There s no sun there, no moon,
no direction, no sense of time. Just fine white sand swirling up into the sky like pulverized bones. That
s the kind of sandstorm you need to imagine. (3)

Federal, State, And Local Roles Of Emergency Management
Federal, State, and Local Roles in Emergency Management
Introduction
Government at all levels plays an important role during disaster management. Actions and roles of
each government agencies are spelled out in the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and
the National Response Framework (NRF). But before we go into details on the roles of governments,
let me first of all explain what constitute emergency and emergency management, just to give clearer
understanding some of these terms. Then I will examine the roles of governments at all level including
first responder actions, mutual support, lead and support roles.
An emergency is a severe, sudden and sometimes risky circumstances requiring urgent action (Salman
Sawalha, 2014). Escalation of an emergency situation can lead to disaster; which is an unusual event
that can cause lost of life and property (Salman Sawalha, 2014). International Federation of Red Cross
and Red Crescent Societies (IFRRCS) define disaster as unexpected devastating events that disrupts
the operations of a population or public which leads to huge losses and overwhelmed the affected
community s ability to respond to the situation with the resources they have at hand . There are two
main types of disaster that can lead to emergency situations; these include natural and man made
disasters.
Natural disasters are the catastrophes cause by Mother Nature , which is often difficult to forecast or

Argumentative Essay On National Night Out
I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned as
an excellent opportunity to connect with one s community. Growing up in a cul de sac with a bunch of
older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by the absence
of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any others,
other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood community, however, was not
just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul de sac. The vista of a neighborhood street
filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a
movie today. It is a dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected
from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we re home, and then abscond into our cars as we
drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is kept to a minimum. National
Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual community building campaign that promotes police
community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring
places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local economy,
isn t conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among peoples urban planning and

The Fight For Women By Charlotte Butler
The Fight for Women
Document 23.2
The British Parliament s passing of the Contagious Disease Acts in 1866 resulted in Josephine Butler
writing a letter to the International Convention of Women in Washington. The purpose of the act was
to reduce prostitution and sexually transmitted diseases, specifically occurring within the military
forces. Butler s letter included topics, arguments, and political issues women had to work on even
though they were not given the right to vote or engage in politics. Butler starts her letter talking to the
ladies of the Ladies National Association which was assembled in 1869, their goal is to repeal the Acts
of Parliament on 1866 69. She apologizes for her absence at the meeting but her friend Mrs. Steward
was able to attend and be the voice of Butler in the lack of her presence. Butler suggested the
committee needed to elect a delegate who had shown great work in the field and for her Mrs. Steward
was the lady for this position. She had done work not only in England but also Belgium when English
girls were being bought, stolen, and destroyed under the State protected vice. Butler explains that
there are not many of the original women left, she says, There is now a crowd of younger workers

case. This can lead to hardship in the sense that the fact of certain issues may not have been concluded
by the parliament or where right are been moved as an error in the statute.
The three traditional rules of statutory interpretation are:
1 THE LITERAL RULE
2 THE GOLDEN RULE
3 THE MISCHIEF RULE.
THE GOLDEN RULE

Advantage and disadvantage of the golden rule
1: The main advantage of the golden rule is that raising mistakes and statutes can be corrected
immediately. This is seen in the (R V ALLEN)1872 case where the loopholes where closed the
decision was in line with parliament intentions and it gave a more just outcome
2: the main disadvantage of the golden rule is that judges can technically and wisely change the law
by exchanging the meaning of words in the statute . the can potentially infringing the separation of
power between legal and legislature.
The golden rule would help if there is no absurdity in the statute. For example the London and
northeastern railways V BERRIMAN 1946 CASE
Where the widow couldn t get compensation because the wording of the statute didn t allow for the
circumstances or the situation.

Chinese And United States Foreign Policy

Chinese, English and United States China Foreign Policy in Asia
This memo communicates my deepening anxieties about the broadening disparity in trade and
commerce and a shift in the balance of military power between China, England and the United States.
Since our last communique, the POTUS (President of the Unites States) McKinley has died. There s
been a reversal of the Open Door Strategy since President s McKinley s assassination. President
Roosevelt now commander and chief of America and has restructured a grand American vision for the
U.S. to expand its authority far beyond her natural borders. The U.S. goal to spread its Washingtonian
Gilded Age democracy through merchants and missionaries has ended and is now being transformed
and driven by hegemony and empire building. The new POTUS and Secretary of State John Hay
(former Ambassador to England) have implemented a strategy to make the building of the U.S
military its number one national objective. We see this large scale military buildup as a threat to both
England and China.
English trade merchants rightly protest the U.S. devouring unfairly the lion s share of profits from
China s commerce that has resulted in a profound shift in the balance of Pacific trade favorably
towards the United States. England believes there are still greater plans by the U.S. to manipulate
currencies to promote their quest to conquer the entire American and

Transportation as a Source of Air Pollution
STRATEGIC APPROACH TO REDUCING VEHICLE EMISSIONS IN NIGERIA: ROLE OF
FLEET OPERATORS.
BEING A LECTURE PRESENTED BY ENGR. BG IBRAHIM fwc ACM (SED) AT SAFETY
MANAGERS TRAINING PROGRAMME AT FRSC ACADEMY, JOS ON THE 28TH
AUGUST,2009.
INTRODUCTION
1. In developed and developing countries, the history of air pollution problem has typically been high
levels of smoke and sulphur dioxide arising from the combustion of sulphur containing fossil fuels
such as coal for domestic and industrial purpose.[i] Industrial development and the use of fossil fuels
have affected the world climate adversely. In Nigeria epileptic power supply has brought about the use
of diesel and petrol powered generators virtually in all homes
2. The transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was also revealed that in 1998, a single car in Nigeria emitted 29,600kg of hydrocarbons, 34,000kg
of Nitrogen Oxides and 4,029 kg of different carbonate gasses over its average lifespan.[iii]
CAUSES OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLE
5. Motor vehicle use is now generally recognised as the source of more air pollution than any other
single activity in cities around the world. The internal combustion engine of a vehicle produces power
by burning fuel and changing the chemical energy of fuel into heat energy. The heat energy is then
converted into mechanical power. Cars and trucks do not burn all of the fuel that goes into the
combustion chamber. In fact, most vehicles only burn about 85% of the fuel and as the vehicle gets
older less and less fuel is burned. It is this unburned fuel that produces some harmful products which
are discharged from the engine and become air pollutants.[iv] Therefore, an engine s fuel system, and
its emission controls are closely interrelated. That is why attention is given to the requirements of
emission control in the design and operation of all parts of the fuel system in a vehicle.
EFFECTS OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLES
6. Adverse effects to human health include; a. Reduction in the amount of oxygen that can be
delivered to our body s organs and tissues, which can be life threatening caused by particles of carbon
monoxide. A mild

Military Award Analysis
14. Army Regulation 600 8 22 (Military Awards) states the Air Medal is awarded in time of war for
heroism and for meritorious achievement or service while participating in aerial flight. This award is
primarily intended for personnel on flying status but may also be awarded to those personnel whose
combat duties require them to fly; for example, personnel in the attack elements of units involved in
air land assaults against an armed enemy. As with all personal decorations, formal recommendations,
approval through the chain of command, and announcement in orders are required.
15. U.S. Army Vietnam (USARV) Regulation 672 1 (Decorations and Awards) provided guidelines for
award of the Air Medal. It stated passenger personnel who did not participate in an air assault were not
eligible for the award based upon sustained operations. It defined terms and provided guidelines for
the award based upon the number and types of missions or hours. Twenty five Category I missions (air
assault and equally dangerous missions) and accrual of a minimum of 25 hours of flight time while
engaged in Category I missions was the standard established for which sustained operations were

General Pete Quesada And The Triumph Of Tactical Air Power...
General Pete Quesada and the Triumph of Tactical Air Power in World War II
I would like to begin my paper with the quote by John Kennedy learning and Leadership are
indispensable to each other. 1
I think it is a great saying about leadership I have ever heard. There are many books about leadership.
But if someone wants to be a good leader and if they do not have leadership abilities, character from
birth, they will never be able to be a good leader. When we say leader, we have to think about people
who are able to encourage their people to believe them, their thoughts, be ready to follow them. There
can be another ability of leaders. It is to do right things and make their people to do the same. But not
like some leaders, who do not do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These books about leadership can be examples for those people who have leadership skill; these books
can be a guide for those people. These books about leadership will help people with leadership
abilities to make their job easier, but will not make them good leaders.
When I read this book we can understand that commanders as good leaders cannot be far from their
men they command. Quesada has this character, he saw his men as his sons. Moreover good leaders
must be able to put themselves in a place of people in front of them. Such kind of characters can make
officers a good leaders and General Elwood had these skills and characters. These characters made
him a great leader. His leadership skills were not dispensed from someone, he was interested to learn
more and his characters may be from birth or from family nurture, education helped him to become
good leader.
Family nurture also very important for people to be in a right way and to do right things, there are
many about this. There are many families with high education, with high cultural values, but their
children do not become like their parents or like they want them to be. The reasons might be different.
The first reason is that people do not spend time with their children, or they do not have time for this.
Moreover it depends on people s character form birth.
When I chose this book I thought it would be very informative and I would be able to get more
information about World War

Inventing A Christian America Summary
In reading Inventing a Christian America , it really opens up to a whole new way of looking at the
early 18th and 19th century America. Green makes many key points about religion in America during
that time and the Founding Fathers. He simply wants us to understand the myth of this country.
Throughout the book it becomes one question of; did the Founding Fathers establish the United States
as a Christian Nation? It was truly meant to be a Christian America but the way of Enlightenment was
slowly approaching. Steven Green argues that the origin myth of a Christian founding did not begin
with the founding generation, but decades later and that today s Christian nationalists promote an
erroneous reading of our past that distorts even that 19th century version of our beginnings. The

The book goes into the original English settlers who were mostly Protestant and some came to escape
limitations placed on their own freedom of religious. Rather than prolong that prospect to others they
enthusiastically prohibited from practicing freely all Catholics, Jews, Quakers, and many Protestants
who dissented from the main Church of England in the south and puritans in New England. Although
many did not come to America for religious reasons at all, but for economic opportunities. The
founders such as Jefferson saw the dangers of this legacy of religious intolerance and therefore formed
a nation that rejected a Christian establishment. They moved beyond mere tolerance of multiple
religions in favor of religious liberty and asserted freedom of conscience to be a natural right. To build
such a society, they invented early colonial societies dedicated to religious liberty. The fathers looked
to secular political compact theory for their inspiration, the same theory in fact that inspired the
puritans to develop their religiously infused covenant. Those looking for a purely American origin
myth invented a path from the mayflower compact to the U.S.

Music, Classical, Or Opera, By Maria Callas, And Mozart Essay
It is said that it takes 10,000 hours to master something. Great musical performers are no exception.
Miles Davis, Maria Callas, and Mozart are examples of musical genius who spent countless hours
perfecting their craft whether it was in the genre of Jazz, Classical, or Opera. Callas was known for
being an opera legend. Her teacher, Maria Trivella, reflected on her first impression of Callas voice
saying. ... it swirled and flared like a flame and filled the air with melodious reverberations like a
carillon. It was by any standards an amazing phenomenon, or rather it was a great talent that needed
control, technical training and strict discipline in order to shine with all its brilliance. This comment
showed that talent was there but she needed to put in hours strenuous technical practice to establish
herself as a legend. In a way I can relate on the level of practicing then having to prove myself to my
teachers. I spend most of my year perfecting arias and practicing my sight reading to show my talents
whenever time calls for it. Last year I didn t have very many opportunities to prove myself except for
one time at State Competition. Performing at state was my chance to show the skills I ve learned from

Using What You Learned From The Inventory Do You Think You...
1. Using what you learned about yourself from the inventory, do you think you have high self esteem
or low self esteem ? What is one thing you can do to build your self esteem?
I learned from the inventory that I have high self esteem. I have high self esteem because I am
confident in my capabilities in school. I did not always have high self esteem I was discouraged when
I got a bad test score and my friend would say that she got a higher score than I did and rub it in my
face. It made me feel bad about myself and I thought I was not as smart as she was. Then I realized
just because I got a lower score than she did it did not mean that I was not smart it just meant I was
smart in a different way then she was. Some ways I can build my self esteem is don t beat myself up
over a mistake just learn from it and carry on, another one would be not to compare myself to other
people and point out my flaws. We are human so mistakes are gonna happen there is no way to prevent
them from happening but if we learn from them and do are best then we will become a better person

Diodorus Essay
Shelley s friend the banker Horace Smith stayed with the poet and his wife Mary (author of
Frankenstein) in the Christmas season of 1817. One evening, they began to discuss recent discoveries
in the Near East. In the wake of Napoleon s conquest of Egypt in 1798, the archeological treasures
found there stimulated the European imagination. The power of pharaonic Egypt had seemed eternal,
but now this once great empire was (and had long been) in ruins, a feeble shadow.
Shelley and Smith remembered the Roman era historian Diodorus Siculus, who described a statue of
Ozymandias, more commonly known as Rameses II (possibly the pharaoh referred to in the Book of
Exodus). Diodorus reports the inscription on the statue, which he claims was the largest in Egypt, as
follows: King of Kings Ozymandias am I. If any want to know how great I am and where I lie, let him
outdo me in my work. (The statue and its inscription do not survive, and were not seen by Shelley; his
inspiration for Ozymandias was verbal rather than visual.)
Stimulated by their conversation, Smith and Shelley wrote sonnets based on the passage in Diodorus.
Smith produced a now forgotten poem with the unfortunate title On a Stupendous Leg of Granite,
Discovered Standing by Itself in the Deserts of Egypt, with the Inscription Inserted Below. ... Show

Shelley despised. Ozymandias resembles the monstrous George III of our other Shelley sonnet,

My Time At The End Of The Day
Throughout the last 2 weeks it was interesting to observe where my time has gone to. Often, we hear
others and ourselves say phrases like, Where has the time gone? Or, Where has my day gone to? With
this exercise, I can now comprehend how I spend the majority of my time and figure out how to solve
my not having enough time to do it all problem. At the end of the day, one does not have time to do
everything, so we have to choose the important items on the list of to dos. But what do you eliminate
and what do you keep?
As I observe my time, I notice that the majority of my time was spent doing homework. Almost every
day was spent doing class, maybe a workout like a bike ride or run, and homework. It was not until the
weekend of the most recent week I had any time to watch a movie or just sit around a play on my
phone. Of course I did do activities that were purely for my pleasure, such as phone calls, practice,
long dinner time with friends, make new microwave creations with my roomie. These events,
however, are also very important. Social life is what keeps us from losing our mind. If I did homework
at every meal, I would not make new friends nor connect and catch up with my old ones. As humans,
we need relationships to help keep us accountable in our walk with God, in our academics and to share
with. Jesus had his friends while He walked on earth, just like we need friends. This is the reason we

Disadvantages Of A Negotiation System
3.3. Negotiation Methodology
The goal of entering into the tax treaty is to reach agreement on all important issues. This is made by
way of setting a negotiation procedure, which was previously discussed in the chapter above. The
negotiation itself is something more than just a mere conversation; it is an interaction being held with
a purpose to reach a mutually beneficial agreement, where both parties are ready to establish a
compromise even if altering their initial positions. For parties, the negotiation process is a tool for
solving complex issues and reaching an aimed outcome. Regarding it as a tool, it is important to know
how to use it, since the successful outcome may depend on various factors.
First of all, identifying one s objectives and proper investigation of the particular issues concerned
play a significant role in the negotiation, since a failure of doing so may lead to the disadvantage. For
instance, if the one party has no proper understanding of the problem being discussed it may agree to
the provision which is rather disadvantageous or confuse and react defensive which may affect ...

STUDYING THE ANTIOXIDANT AND ANTI TUMOUR EFFECTS OF PLEUROTUS
OSTREATUS MUSHROOM
ABSTRACT:
Edible mushrooms have attracted a great attention due to their nutritional, as well as medicinal
properties. In the present study, different mushroom species were extracted partially purified and their
endopolysaccharides
(extracted from the fruiting bodies) as well as exopolysaccharides (extracted from the filtrate of
cultured mycelia) production were determined to evaluate their anti tumour and anti oxidant effects.
The present results showed that
Pleurotus ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide has the maximum intracellular production as compared
with the other studied mushrooms.
Different mushroom s endo and exopolysaccharides inhibited the proliferation of
Ehrlich tumour (EAT) cells in vitro; however, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide exhibited the
maximum anti tumour effect. Moreover, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide showed the maximum
scavenging activity compared to the scavenging effects of the control ascorbic acid.
Pre treatment of different concentrations of P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide to EATbearing mice
markedly decreased the number of
EAT cells one week after incubation in the abdominal cavity of mice in a dose dependent manner, and
reduced the size of solid tumour in the thigh muscle of mice as measured morphologically and

The Role Of Education In The Developing World
Education in the Developing World
Is education a basic human right? According to Article 26 of the United Nation s Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, yes. It states that everyone should have access to free primary education
and equal opportunity access to higher education. Unfortunately, in many places around the world,
access is limited either monetarily or governmentally, and even when it is available, a lack of
resources or a lack of proper educators can severely limit the quality of the education. As many as 115
million primary age children around the world are not currently in school, and of those who are in
school, over 226 million never attend secondary school. In some parts of Africa the literacy rate in
children is below fifty percent. Let s take a look at one developing country in particular, South Africa,
which is considered to have one of the worst education systems on the planet.
South Africa s education system is broken into three parts: elementary schooling, secondary schooling,
and tertiary schooling. According to the Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development,
only about seven percent of South Africans achieve tertiary schooling. As of 2013, South Africa
houses 25,720 schools for almost 12.5 million people. That s nearly one in four people in some form

identities to suit their own purposes. With reference to one or more institutional contexts, explain how
power materialises in discourses. Introduction Language is the fundamental persuasive device. When
we speak, we do not simply speak words but we discursively produce social identities, ideologies and
power relations. This idea that language harnesses the performative power to construct ideological
meanings and power structures in social contexts introduces the concept of discourse. Discourses are
particularly slippery to define; according to Structuralist theories discourse is language above the line
(Stubbs, 1983:1), that being, discourses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Halliday s Systemic Functional Theory (Halliday, 1976), language is a resource speakers
use to achieve communicative goals. Halliday suggests the context of situation comprises of three
components: the field (the purpose of the interaction), the mode (the form the discourse takes) and
tenor (the participants in the discourse and their relationships). Context has a myriad of implications
for the production and comprehension of discourse. It refers to structures of text and talk in a
communicative situation, including setting, genre, participant(s) roles, social and institutional, as well
as speaker attitudes and ideologies. These elements are pertinent in interview interaction. The
interviewer and the interviewee orientate their language strategically to confer their individual
communicative goals. In a political context, an interviewer s goal may be to covertly force an
interviewee to admit deficiencies in their political stance/political ideologies. Conversely, the
interviewee s goal may be win the persuasion of the viewing public disallowing for the kind of
interaction that would be detrimental to his/her career. The news interview is a decidedly
asymmetrical interaction. Characteristic of the news interview is the discursive roles that interviewer
and interviewee obey and comply to. Generally speaking, we expect

Statistical Methods in Measuring Corporate Performance
The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of commonly used statistical data in the
measurement of corporate performance by examining various models and methods.
Corporate performance can be defined as fundamental measures of organizational aptitude used to
assess the health of the organization and to provide focused direction to operations while supporting
managers. In order to measure the company s intangible assets such as customer relationships, internal
processes, and employee learning and development while aligning the corporation s overall business
strategy, statistical analysis of performance measurement data must be utilized.

Each is a reaction to the findings of the one before until a pattern can be observed. This is also rarely
used in performance measurement.
Probability Distributions
Range and distributions depend upon the amount of data available. The information sought in
performance measurement is usually continuous, that is, measurable and therefore denoted as f(x).
Since the probability or distribution of possible probabilities is continuous, the likelihood that the
probability is any specific point estimate is really zero. The range for probability then depends on the
level of valid, available information.
A probability distribution indicates all values that a random variable can assume and shows the
likelihood of occurrence. By examining distributions of data, important characteristics such as shape,
location, variability, and unusual values can be detected. The conclusion as to the relationships
between different variables can then be generated from the observation of patterns in data.
An example of a normal distribution test is the Gauss curve. The bell shaped curve represents the odds
of each outcome on the range of several outcomes. In a normal distribution observations are
distributed symmetrically around the mean, 68% of all values under the curve lie within one standard
deviation of the mean and 95% lie within two standard deviations3. This is good for intervallic
continuous variables.
Another type of distribution is done when the results are not ranged along a

The Neonatal Brain Mri Image Database
As shown in the above figure 1, the input neonatal image from the database is preprocessed using
techniques such as noise removal, inhomogeneity and partial volume correction. Then from the
preprocessed image the texture feature is extracted through EWT (Empirical Wavelet transform) and
the most relevant features like Entropy, Correlation, Contrast, Homogeneity and Dissimilarity are
chosen by GLCM (Gray Level Co Occurrence Matrix). Based on the selected features the image is
segmented by means of SOM DCNN and then from the segmented image the tissues are classified
through the help of sparse auto encoder.
Consider is the neonatal brain MRI image database, where is the number of images and the vector
function of each image in the neonatal brain MRI image database is given as .
3.1 Preprocessing
The regions of an image containing different intensity values can be modelled as a finite Gaussian
distribution. All the pixels in the same image belongs to same class and energy function is given by (1)
Where is a set of Gaussian parameters; is the Gaussian mean and is the Gaussian variance for the
object .
Also reduction of noise present in the image is important and it is done when the contextual constraint
is taken into account as the weight of the pixel. For the above equation 4 with zero mean only the
variance is varied by additive Gaussian noise. By this way the Gaussian model suppress the Gaussian
noise and variation can be

A Girl Of The Limberlost Analysis
In the novel A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton Porter, there lies in the pages the themes of
nature and moths, both intrinsic motifs sunk deep into the bones of the storyline. The beauty and
elegance of nature is viewed by the characters as a direct manifestation of the hand of God. As such,
the characters in the story basked in the glory of the outdoors and spent most the time perusing the
surrounding areas around their homes. Each character in the novel had a different relationship to
nature. For some, such as nature was a way to find inner peace. For others, nature represented the
turbulence and wildness upon which the course of life took you. Specific places out in the surrounding
environment novel also had a noteworthy part in the theme of nature. And then you have characters in
which nature played a more significant role such as Elnora and her mother Mrs. Comstock s life. The
focal point of the story is focused on the heroin Elnora Comstock with her collection of moths and her
crotchety mother Mrs. Comstock. Elnora is a poor necessitous girl who receives no support from her
mother. This is due to the fact that Mrs. Comstock blames Elnora for her husband s death by
asphyxiation in the limberlost swamp. All of the nurturing and care she had came from Margaret and
Wesley Sinton. The lack of care and support from her mother led Elnora to have to pay for her own
education. She managed to collect the funds she needed by selling her rare

Is Willy Loman A Tragic Hero
The play Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, is a novel about an ideal American family.
Although the title ideal American family seems ordinary, failed salesman Willy Loman faces conflicts
within his family and out of the household. Aristotle defines the word tragedy as to face misfortune or
disaster, and tragedy in this family expands throughout the novel. Willy Loman encountered an end
that led him to pay the ultimate price: death. Author Arthur Miller focuses the novel on an average
American person because his intent was to reveal what really happens behind closed doors, Willy s
character not exactly portraying the classic role itself. In a New York Times article, Miller explains
how the common man makes the best tragic hero. A common man makes the best tragic hero because
he claims most of them are seen as flawless. The common man is passive if tragedy hits, and wouldn t
take a chance to retaliate if it were to occur. From his own judgements to his own tragic downfall,
Willy Loman fits the characteristics of a tragic hero. As a modern day tragic hero instead of a classic
tragic hero, Willy Loman fits the characteristics of a tragic hero because of his flaws or error of
judgement, the misfortune brought about from error or judgement, and his recognition that the reversal
came from his own actions. Willy Loman is a modern tragic hero because he had a flaw or error of
judgement. He fits this trait because Willy Loman couldn t accept his actual reality, and instead
focused more on his ideal type of life. Willy neglected the reality he lives in and strives to have the life
he dreams of, such as his mistake of not going to Africa. When his deceased brother Ben went to
Africa instead, he claims that he s discovered riches that Willy longs for in his fantasy world. In
addition to that, Loman had an error of judgement when he cheated on his wife. I realized what a
ridiculous lie my whole life has been. After Biff had found out about the woman and his father, he s
decided that his father had focused more on his illusions more than the actual life he lives in. Because
of his illusions he worked for, his sons were impacted to do the same. Loman fits the title of a tragic
hero from the

Letty Cottin Pogrebin s Women At Point Zero
As Letty Cottin Pogrebin once said: When men are oppressed, it s a tragedy. When women are
oppressed, it s tradition. Throughout the novel: Women at Point Zero, the latter of this statement
resonates strongly through the actions and thoughts of Firdaus, a young woman living in Egypt in
1975. During this time period in Egypt, Islamic women were heavily discriminated against and
enjoyed no basic human rights such as: education, a sense of safety, or most importantly, freedom.
Women were owned and treated like possessions by men, and many found themselves in the world of
prostitution in order to live a better life and gain some freedoms. In addition to that, women were
shamed upon if they spoke out about their oppression. Thesis: Throughout ... Show more content on

The earliest memory she had of her mother was two eyes that carefully watched her: I can remember
her eyes in particular. I can not describe their colour, or their shape... They were eyes that watched
me...they could see me, and follow me wherever I went, so that if I faltered while learning to walk
they would hold me up (pg.15). Firdaus perceives her mother as always there for her, always watching
and caring, helping her back up. (ANALYZE/EXPLAIN SO WHAT?????) She sees light in her eyes,
whereas the earth and sky are pitch black. Her mother s eyes are a focal point. However, this statement
helps Firdaus transition into what she perceived her mother as, as Firdaus grew up. In summer, I
would see her sitting at his feet [father] with a tin mug in her hand as she washed his legs with cold
water. My mother was no longer there...she looked just like my mother; the same long garments, the
same face... but when i used to look into her eyes I could feel she was not my mother...No light
seemed to ever touch the eyes of this woman, even when the day was radiant and then sun at its very
brightest. One day I took her head between my hands and turned it so that the sun fell directly on her
face, but her eyes remained dull...like two extinguished lamps (pg. 16 17). These statements serve the
purpose of showing that men felt superior to women and they could order them to do their wishes at
any time. Women had no say; they

Youtube Video From America s Got Talent
Back in grade school my music teacher showed us a fuzzy low quality YouTube video from America s
Got Talent. The projector lit up the white screen with a still picture of old lady with tight ringlets
covering her head and a red play button overlapping her. The old lady introduced herself and
announced she was singing this fancy opera song. I along with the judges sort of giggled, there was no
way this old lady wearing a cat shirt could sing such a sophisticated song. I could not have been more
wrong. That little old lady belted out in Ave Maria hitting such a high note she might have broke some
glass. Every single judge watched her with awe as a camera panned the crowd zooming in on
astonished faces. Not a single judge dared touch their

A Comparison of Fahrenheit 451 and Dover Beach
Fahrenheit 451 is a well written book that tells a story of a dream world and one man who wakes up
from that dream. Montag, the protagonist of the story, brings home a book of poetry one day and
begins to read the poem Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold to his wife and her guests. Many critics
think that Bradbury picked this poem because it paralleled life in his book. The poem Dover Beach
can be compared to Fahrenheit 451 because both pieces of writing talk about themes of true love,
fantasy and allover hopelessness. One of the ways Fahrenheit 451 can be related to Arnold s Dover
Beach is by connecting the absence of true love in both of them. Throughout the book, Montag slowly
realizes that he does not truly love his wife Mildred. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They go through lifetimes in a pattern that does not change. In the book, Bradbury compares humans

and the pheonix can also be compared to this Sea of Faith. Arnold says Listen! you hear the grating

Negative Regulation Of Sheepmeat Odour And Biogen ( SEPW1 )
For the SNP g.53617063 G A mutation in the present study, quantitative realtime polymerase chain
reaction (qRT PCR) analysis revealed that individuals with AA genotype expressed lower mRNA
levels than those with AG and GG genotype. But it requires further investigation to determine whether
this difference is also associated with mRNA stability. It is widely accepted that SEPW1 is a negative
regulator of sheepmeat odour and flavour, and decreased SEPW1 mRNA expression levels could
cause lower odour and flavour. From these results, we can postulate that the SEPW1 gene is
negatively associated with odour and flavour, or that the sepw1 gene may affect fatty acid (FA)
metabolism and f the triglyceride (Kubiak et al 2016). The mRNA ... Show more content on

  • 3. Stereotypes Of Women In Sports Though being athletic and masculine have been a man s physical description, women have fought to prove those gender stereotypes wrong. Women have been defeating the odds of athleticism and masculinity that men realized, but wanted to hide and not appreciate their work. Through time men and women have made an effort to come together to bring attention to the downgrading of women in sports to earn acknowledgement and respect. With this, history has described men and women s sports as not equal but as history continues, women defeat the odds yet again. Women participating in athletic activities and sports date back millennia. Stories of women playing ball dates back to 800 BC in Homer s works of The Iliad. Until the 1870 s, women never had the luxury of sports classified for women specifically. Multitasking was a high concern. People thought that each person had a set amount of energy and multitasking would deplete this energy rapidly that could cause harm to that individual. Women were highly encouraged to limit their activity so they would not fatigue their selves so quickly to avoid harm to their body. Doctors of this time believed this over exertion could damage reproductive organs, decrease fertility rate, excessive stimulate emotions to the extent of a nervous breakdown, and even bizarre as decrease in a woman s sexual inhibition if she excessively indulged in sports (Cahn par. 4). There were fashionable activities such as horseback riding for women in the early 1800 s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Battle Of The Union Line Even despite Jackson s victory on May 2nd, by the next morning Hooker s forces were still in a strong position. Union forces numbered 76,000 to Lee s 43,000 and overnight Reynolds corps from Fredericksburg had arrived to replace Howard s defeated corps. Hooker then ordered Sickles to withdraw his men from Hazel Grove to a new position on Plank Road. This decision by Hooker was another costly mistake because it conceded the only high ground to the Confederates. After Sickles movement back to Plank Road, the Union line resembled a giant horseshoe around Chancellorsville. At approximately 5:30 a.m., Lee attacked the Union line from all three sides: Stuart, who had taken over for Jackson from the west, Anderson from the southeast, and McLaws from the east. Using their newly acquired ground at Hazel Grove as an artillery platform to support the assault, the Confederates beat back the Union s fierce resistance around Chancellorsville. At around 10 a.m. after the heaviest fighting of the battle, Hooker ordered his army to retreat to a position circling their ford site of the Rappahannock. As Lee rode up to survey the scene at Chancellorsville wild triumphant shouts came from his soldiers (Sears 365). Although this would sound great to a majority of people who cannot support these evil individuals, the Supreme Court decided that by taking away someones privilege of using social media, it was inevitably taking away their right of free speech. The Court also went on to doing away with this law in North Carolina. This court case was Packingham vs. North Carolina (http://www.newseuminstitute.org/first amendment center/supreme court cases/) 2(b): In Missouri a church was deemed ineligible for receiving public funding because it was a place of religious worship. • 17. Too Safe Schools Coalition ( Ssc ) Is A Government Funded... Somewhat safe schools? Safe Schools Coalition (SSC) is a government funded national coalition of organisations and schools that started in 2013 (it originated from an earlier Victorian version). It is a program apparently aimed at creating an inclusive environment for queer students and reducing bullying for them. It provides member schools professional development for staff, resources, advice and support to students and their schools. However, there has been a recent outcry over the content of the program and its supposed agenda. Sparked by a motion put forward by Nationals Minister George Christensen, the Turnbull government initiated an independent review of the program. When the review was released, major changes were announced and the Education minister confirmed that funding for the program will not be renewed after 2017. This has sparked rallies and backlash. Notably, the Victorian and ACT State Governments have announced their intention to keep the program in the original state and fund it. In discouraging the bullying of LGBTI students, it seeks to upend traditional understandings of gender and impose cultural values offensive to most Australians. The quote above highlights some of underlying bias behind many proponents of the SSC. It holds that creating an environment where people feel accepted and all bullying discouraged isn t something to aspire to if it challenge pre existing notions. • 22. Argumentative Essay On National Night Out I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned as an excellent opportunity to connect with one s community. Growing up in a cul de sac with a bunch of older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by the absence of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any others, other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood community, however, was not just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul de sac. The vista of a neighborhood street filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a movie today. It is a dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we re home, and then abscond into our cars as we drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is kept to a minimum. National Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual community building campaign that promotes police community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local economy, isn t conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among peoples urban planning and smart neighborhood development are not only good for the environment, despite such ... • 23. The Fight For Women By Charlotte Butler The Fight for Women Document 23.2 The British Parliament s passing of the Contagious Disease Acts in 1866 resulted in Josephine Butler writing a letter to the International Convention of Women in Washington. The purpose of the act was to reduce prostitution and sexually transmitted diseases, specifically occurring within the military forces. Butler s letter included topics, arguments, and political issues women had to work on even though they were not given the right to vote or engage in politics. Butler starts her letter talking to the ladies of the Ladies National Association which was assembled in 1869, their goal is to repeal the Acts of Parliament on 1866 69. She apologizes for her absence at the meeting but her friend Mrs. Steward was able to attend and be the voice of Butler in the lack of her presence. Butler suggested the committee needed to elect a delegate who had shown great work in the field and for her Mrs. Steward was the lady for this position. She had done work not only in England but also Belgium when English girls were being bought, stolen, and destroyed under the State protected vice. Butler explains that there are not many of the original women left, she says, There is now a crowd of younger workers who are bravely preaching the purity crusade and doing excellent vigilance work; while there are few of the veteran s left who inaugurated in 1869 the fierce contest with our Government, the House of Lords and Commons, the Medical Boards, the Press, ... Since our last communique, the POTUS (President of the Unites States) McKinley has died. There s been a reversal of the Open Door Strategy since President s McKinley s assassination. President Roosevelt now commander and chief of America and has restructured a grand American vision for the U.S. to expand its authority far beyond her natural borders. The U.S. goal to spread its Washingtonian Gilded Age democracy through merchants and missionaries has ended and is now being transformed and driven by hegemony and empire building. The new POTUS and Secretary of State John Hay (former Ambassador to England) have implemented a strategy to make the building of the U.S military its number one national objective. We see this large scale military buildup as a threat to both England and China. English trade merchants rightly protest the U.S. devouring unfairly the lion s share of profits from China s commerce that has resulted in a profound shift in the balance of Pacific trade favorably towards the United States. In developed and developing countries, the history of air pollution problem has typically been high levels of smoke and sulphur dioxide arising from the combustion of sulphur containing fossil fuels such as coal for domestic and industrial purpose.[i] Industrial development and the use of fossil fuels have affected the world climate adversely. It was also revealed that in 1998, a single car in Nigeria emitted 29,600kg of hydrocarbons, 34,000kg of Nitrogen Oxides and 4,029 kg of different carbonate gasses over its average lifespan.[iii] CAUSES OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLE 5. Motor vehicle use is now generally recognised as the source of more air pollution than any other single activity in cities around the world. The internal combustion engine of a vehicle produces power by burning fuel and changing the chemical energy of fuel into heat energy. The heat energy is then converted into mechanical power. Cars and trucks do not burn all of the fuel that goes into the combustion chamber. In fact, most vehicles only burn about 85% of the fuel and as the vehicle gets older less and less fuel is burned. It is this unburned fuel that produces some harmful products which are discharged from the engine and become air pollutants.[iv] Therefore, an engine s fuel system, and its emission controls are closely interrelated. That is why attention is given to the requirements of emission control in the design and operation of all parts of the fuel system in a vehicle. EFFECTS OF POLLUTANTS IN VEHICLES 6. Adverse effects to human health include; a. Reduction in the amount of oxygen that can be delivered to our body s organs and tissues, which can be life threatening caused by particles of carbon monoxide. A mild ... Green makes many key points about religion in America during that time and the Founding Fathers. He simply wants us to understand the myth of this country. Throughout the book it becomes one question of; did the Founding Fathers establish the United States as a Christian Nation? It was truly meant to be a Christian America but the way of Enlightenment was slowly approaching. • 39. Diodorus Essay Shelley s friend the banker Horace Smith stayed with the poet and his wife Mary (author of Frankenstein) in the Christmas season of 1817. One evening, they began to discuss recent discoveries in the Near East. In the wake of Napoleon s conquest of Egypt in 1798, the archeological treasures found there stimulated the European imagination. The power of pharaonic Egypt had seemed eternal, but now this once great empire was (and had long been) in ruins, a feeble shadow. Shelley and Smith remembered the Roman era historian Diodorus Siculus, who described a statue of Ozymandias, more commonly known as Rameses II (possibly the pharaoh referred to in the Book of Exodus). Diodorus reports the inscription on the statue, which he claims was the largest in Egypt, as follows: King of Kings Ozymandias am I. If any want to know how great I am and where I lie, let him outdo me in my work. (The statue and its inscription do not survive, and were not seen by Shelley; his inspiration for Ozymandias was verbal rather than visual.) Stimulated by their conversation, Smith and Shelley wrote sonnets based on the passage in Diodorus. Smith produced a now forgotten poem with the unfortunate title On a Stupendous Leg of Granite, Discovered Standing by Itself in the Deserts of Egypt, with the Inscription Inserted Below. ... For parties, the negotiation process is a tool for solving complex issues and reaching an aimed outcome. Regarding it as a tool, it is important to know how to use it, since the successful outcome may depend on various factors. First of all, identifying one s objectives and proper investigation of the particular issues concerned play a significant role in the negotiation, since a failure of doing so may lead to the disadvantage. A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON ENDOPOLYSACCHARIDES AND EXOPOLYSACCHARIDES PRODUCTION FROM SOME BASIDIOMYCETES WITH STUDYING THE ANTIOXIDANT AND ANTI TUMOUR EFFECTS OF PLEUROTUS OSTREATUS MUSHROOM ABSTRACT: Edible mushrooms have attracted a great attention due to their nutritional, as well as medicinal properties. In the present study, different mushroom species were extracted partially purified and their endopolysaccharides (extracted from the fruiting bodies) as well as exopolysaccharides (extracted from the filtrate of cultured mycelia) production were determined to evaluate their anti tumour and anti oxidant effects. The present results showed that Pleurotus ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide has the maximum intracellular production as compared with the other studied mushrooms. Different mushroom s endo and exopolysaccharides inhibited the proliferation of Ehrlich tumour (EAT) cells in vitro; however, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide exhibited the maximum anti tumour effect. Moreover, P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide showed the maximum scavenging activity compared to the scavenging effects of the control ascorbic acid. Pre treatment of different concentrations of P. ostreatus FIII endopolysaccharide to EATbearing mice markedly decreased the number of EAT cells one week after incubation in the abdominal cavity of mice in a dose dependent manner, and reduced the size of solid tumour in the thigh muscle of mice as measured morphologically and examined histologically. • 44. The Role Of Education In The Developing World Education in the Developing World Is education a basic human right? According to Article 26 of the United Nation s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, yes. It states that everyone should have access to free primary education and equal opportunity access to higher education. Unfortunately, in many places around the world, access is limited either monetarily or governmentally, and even when it is available, a lack of resources or a lack of proper educators can severely limit the quality of the education. As many as 115 million primary age children around the world are not currently in school, and of those who are in school, over 226 million never attend secondary school. In some parts of Africa the literacy rate in children is below fifty percent. Let s take a look at one developing country in particular, South Africa, which is considered to have one of the worst education systems on the planet. South Africa s education system is broken into three parts: elementary schooling, secondary schooling, and tertiary schooling. According to the Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development, only about seven percent of South Africans achieve tertiary schooling. As of 2013, South Africa houses 25,720 schools for almost 12.5 million people. That s nearly one in four people in some form of education. It makes sense, as primary schooling is required by law for children between the ages of seven and fifteen. Yet of those who go to school twenty seven percent are still ... • 45. Language Ideology And Power Rhetorical Analysis Language, Ideology and Power Essay Institutions have the power to foster particular kinds of identities to suit their own purposes. With reference to one or more institutional contexts, explain how power materialises in discourses. Introduction Language is the fundamental persuasive device. When we speak, we do not simply speak words but we discursively produce social identities, ideologies and power relations. This idea that language harnesses the performative power to construct ideological meanings and power structures in social contexts introduces the concept of discourse. Discourses are particularly slippery to define; according to Structuralist theories discourse is language above the line (Stubbs, 1983:1), that being, discourses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Halliday s Systemic Functional Theory (Halliday, 1976), language is a resource speakers use to achieve communicative goals. Halliday suggests the context of situation comprises of three components: the field (the purpose of the interaction), the mode (the form the discourse takes) and tenor (the participants in the discourse and their relationships). Context has a myriad of implications for the production and comprehension of discourse. It refers to structures of text and talk in a communicative situation, including setting, genre, participant(s) roles, social and institutional, as well as speaker attitudes and ideologies. These elements are pertinent in interview interaction. The interviewer and the interviewee orientate their language strategically to confer their individual communicative goals. In a political context, an interviewer s goal may be to covertly force an interviewee to admit deficiencies in their political stance/political ideologies. Conversely, the interviewee s goal may be win the persuasion of the viewing public disallowing for the kind of interaction that would be detrimental to his/her career. The news interview is a decidedly asymmetrical interaction. Characteristic of the news interview is the discursive roles that interviewer and interviewee obey and comply to. • 46. Statistical Methods in Measuring Corporate Performance The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of commonly used statistical data in the measurement of corporate performance by examining various models and methods. Corporate performance can be defined as fundamental measures of organizational aptitude used to assess the health of the organization and to provide focused direction to operations while supporting managers. In order to measure the company s intangible assets such as customer relationships, internal processes, and employee learning and development while aligning the corporation s overall business strategy, statistical analysis of performance measurement data must be utilized. Each is a reaction to the findings of the one before until a pattern can be observed. This is also rarely used in performance measurement. Probability Distributions Range and distributions depend upon the amount of data available. The information sought in performance measurement is usually continuous, that is, measurable and therefore denoted as f(x). Since the probability or distribution of possible probabilities is continuous, the likelihood that the probability is any specific point estimate is really zero. The range for probability then depends on the level of valid, available information. A probability distribution indicates all values that a random variable can assume and shows the likelihood of occurrence. By examining distributions of data, important characteristics such as shape, location, variability, and unusual values can be detected. The conclusion as to the relationships between different variables can then be generated from the observation of patterns in data. An example of a normal distribution test is the Gauss curve. The bell shaped curve represents the odds of each outcome on the range of several outcomes. In a normal distribution observations are distributed symmetrically around the mean, 68% of all values under the curve lie within one standard deviation of the mean and 95% lie within two standard deviations3. This is good for intervallic continuous variables. Another type of distribution is done when the results are not ranged along a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Neonatal Brain Mri Image Database As shown in the above figure 1, the input neonatal image from the database is preprocessed using techniques such as noise removal, inhomogeneity and partial volume correction. Then from the preprocessed image the texture feature is extracted through EWT (Empirical Wavelet transform) and the most relevant features like Entropy, Correlation, Contrast, Homogeneity and Dissimilarity are chosen by GLCM (Gray Level Co Occurrence Matrix). Based on the selected features the image is segmented by means of SOM DCNN and then from the segmented image the tissues are classified through the help of sparse auto encoder. Consider is the neonatal brain MRI image database, where is the number of images and the vector function of each image in the neonatal brain MRI image database is given as . 3.1 Preprocessing The regions of an image containing different intensity values can be modelled as a finite Gaussian distribution. • 49. Is Willy Loman A Tragic Hero The play Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, is a novel about an ideal American family. Although the title ideal American family seems ordinary, failed salesman Willy Loman faces conflicts within his family and out of the household. Aristotle defines the word tragedy as to face misfortune or disaster, and tragedy in this family expands throughout the novel. Willy Loman encountered an end that led him to pay the ultimate price: death. Author Arthur Miller focuses the novel on an average American person because his intent was to reveal what really happens behind closed doors, Willy s character not exactly portraying the classic role itself. In a New York Times article, Miller explains how the common man makes the best tragic hero. A common man makes the best tragic hero because he claims most of them are seen as flawless. The common man is passive if tragedy hits, and wouldn t take a chance to retaliate if it were to occur. From his own judgements to his own tragic downfall, Willy Loman fits the characteristics of a tragic hero. As a modern day tragic hero instead of a classic tragic hero, Willy Loman fits the characteristics of a tragic hero because of his flaws or error of judgement, the misfortune brought about from error or judgement, and his recognition that the reversal came from his own actions. Willy Loman is a modern tragic hero because he had a flaw or error of judgement. He fits this trait because Willy Loman couldn t accept his actual reality, and instead focused more on his ideal type of life. Willy neglected the reality he lives in and strives to have the life he dreams of, such as his mistake of not going to Africa. When his deceased brother Ben went to Africa instead, he claims that he s discovered riches that Willy longs for in his fantasy world. In addition to that, Loman had an error of judgement when he cheated on his wife. I realized what a ridiculous lie my whole life has been. After Biff had found out about the woman and his father, he s decided that his father had focused more on his illusions more than the actual life he lives in. Because of his illusions he worked for, his sons were impacted to do the same. Loman fits the title of a tragic hero from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the novel: Women at Point Zero, the latter of this statement resonates strongly through the actions and thoughts of Firdaus, a young woman living in Egypt in 1975. During this time period in Egypt, Islamic women were heavily discriminated against and enjoyed no basic human rights such as: education, a sense of safety, or most importantly, freedom. Women were owned and treated like possessions by men, and many found themselves in the world of prostitution in order to live a better life and gain some freedoms. In addition to that, women were shamed upon if they spoke out about their oppression. Thesis: Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firdaus perceives her mother as always there for her, always watching and caring, helping her back up. (ANALYZE/EXPLAIN SO WHAT?????) She sees light in her eyes, whereas the earth and sky are pitch black. Her mother s eyes are a focal point. However, this statement helps Firdaus transition into what she perceived her mother as, as Firdaus grew up. In summer, I would see her sitting at his feet [father] with a tin mug in her hand as she washed his legs with cold water. My mother was no longer there...she looked just like my mother; the same long garments, the same face... but when i used to look into her eyes I could feel she was not my mother...No light seemed to ever touch the eyes of this woman, even when the day was radiant and then sun at its very brightest. One day I took her head between my hands and turned it so that the sun fell directly on her face, but her eyes remained dull...like two extinguished lamps (pg. 16 17). • 52. A Comparison of Fahrenheit 451 and Dover Beach Fahrenheit 451 is a well written book that tells a story of a dream world and one man who wakes up from that dream. Montag, the protagonist of the story, brings home a book of poetry one day and begins to read the poem Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold to his wife and her guests. Many critics think that Bradbury picked this poem because it paralleled life in his book. The poem Dover Beach can be compared to Fahrenheit 451 because both pieces of writing talk about themes of true love, fantasy and allover hopelessness. One of the ways Fahrenheit 451 can be related to Arnold s Dover Beach is by connecting the absence of true love in both of them. Negative Regulation Of Sheepmeat Odour And Biogen ( SEPW1 ) For the SNP g.53617063 G A mutation in the present study, quantitative realtime polymerase chain reaction (qRT PCR) analysis revealed that individuals with AA genotype expressed lower mRNA levels than those with AG and GG genotype. But it requires further investigation to determine whether this difference is also associated with mRNA stability. It is widely accepted that SEPW1 is a negative regulator of sheepmeat odour and flavour, and decreased SEPW1 mRNA expression levels could cause lower odour and flavour. From these results, we can postulate that the SEPW1 gene is negatively associated with odour and flavour, or that the sepw1 gene may affect fatty acid (FA) metabolism and f the triglyceride (Kubiak et al 2016).
