A Presentation Of The Rationale For The Qualitative Case...
In this chapter, I will describe the methodology of my case study. I will begin with a presentation
of the rationale for the qualitative case study approach. Next, I will present the participant selection
criteria, the design of the study, and the methods of the data collection which will include the two
interviews (first and follow up), classroom observation, videotaping the participant during
instruction, and document data collection. I will also discuss the strategies I will be using to
enhance the trustworthiness of the study. At the end of this chapter, I will explain the methods of
the data analysis. Appendix A will be included at the end of the chapter. I will develop Table(s) of
the data collection.
Rationale for Qualitative Approach
The choice to choose the qualitative approach will mainly be depended on my purpose and
research questions to be addressed. Since the purpose of this case study is to define the teacher s use
of ASL fingerspelling will be implemented during instruction. The purpose of my case study is not
to compare or measure the effectiveness of the participant s method of instruction, but to observe
how the participant uses ASL fingerspelling, if any, during class instruction and how it was
implemented. The qualitative approach will be carefully selected ....

Participant Selection
In selecting a participant for the case study was to choose one person who is a deaf education
teacher and uses ASL. The teacher works in

Great Expectations Social Class
Class is one of the many issues we face in this world, and often some of the worst traits are found
in people of high social class. Now, some believe that this is how they were brought up, others
believe it is their personalities, or a combination of the two. In Great Expectations, Pip is often
made out to be not the kindest or most caring of people. Some attribute this to his social class,
however, this is not the case. Pip pushed his old friends out of his life because of his lack of
empathy and maturity in regards to his position in life, not solely because his new social standing
pushed him towards these conditions In combination with his new social class, Pip s lack of
empathy shows itself in how he ВЁdealsВЁ with Joe. As Joe visits Pip... Show more content on

Very Early in the book, Pip was thinking to himself about how he stole food to feed the Convict
on the marsh, and he thinks how ... if Joe knew it, [he] never afterwards could see [Joe] glance,
[...] at yesterday s meat or pudding [...], without thinking that [Joe] was debating whether [he]
had been in the pantry. (40) , and much later in the book, when Pip was in London, after
acknowledging his connection to Joe he still feels ...considerable disturbance, some
mortification, and a keen sense of incongruity, and if he ...could have kept him away by paying
money, [he] certainly would have paid money. (209) Dickens shows that no matter if Pip has
low or high social class, he will still act the same. This means that, even if social class played
some part in how Pip has acted throughout the book, the root issue is Pip s inherent immaturity
and lack empathy. Pip s lack of maturity and empathy pushed his old friends out of his life, in
cohorts with, but not solely because of his new social class. This is because Pip s absence of
empathy pressures Joe in particular, out of his life. Pip s lack of maturity shows in how he

Pip acted this way, social class pushed Pip to be the way he is. Social may have been involved, but

ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND GROUP DYNAMICS
MGT/307
July 20, 2010
Organizational Culture is the system of shared actions, values, and beliefs that has developed
within an organization and guides the behavior of its members. Organizational Development
consists of special applications of knowledge gained from behavioral science to create a
comprehensive design to improve organizational effectiveness. Through the collective experiences,
the members of an organization solve two important survival issues. The first issue addresses
external adaption which deals with reaching goals, how they are to be accomplished, the methods
to be used to achieve these goals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some strategy to help strengthen the organization call for managers to modify observable cultures
such as shared values, and common assumptions directly. Most organizations contain a variety of
subcultures, and a few have countercultures that can become the source of potentially harmful
conflicts. The corporate culture will also reflect the values of the larger national culture. The first
step management must take is to first recognize an organized culture s subculture. Subculture s
management are referred to in the OB literature by the term Management Philosophy.
Management Philosophies link key goal related issues with key collaboration issues and
develops guidelines by which the firm will manage its affairs. It is important to have a well
developed management philosophy because it links strategy to a more basic understanding of
how the firm is to operate. These strategies are; (1) to establish understood boundaries for all
members of the firm, (2) to provide a consistent way of approaching new and novel situations, and
(3) to help hold individuals together by assuring them of a known path toward success. Managers
may and can modify aspects of culture which include; modifying the language, stories, rites, rituals,
and sagas. They often will change the lessons to be drawn from the stories told and even encourage
people to see the reality they see. Because of top management s position, senior managers can
interpret situations in new ways

The Ethics Of Eating By Eric Dickers Analysis
Unfavorable Towards Employers When it comes to figuring out an author s point of view, it can
be simple or complicated. We have to pay close attention to the author s text and ideas to claim a
single point of view by analyzing the tone, diction, purpose, and modes of discourse. Readings
can have a favorable, unfavorable, neutral, or an ambivalent point of view depending on how the
other chooses their words. An author can easily demonstrate how they feel about the topic they
are writing such as Eric Haas. Through his writing in his essay, The Ethics of Eating , we can
see Haas does not support the maltreat of farm workers. It is common farm workers have one of
the low paying jobs, but being treated bad by their employers is wrong. Haas is very clear about
this subject in his writing. The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers the essay by Eric
Haas, has an unfavorable point of view towards employers mistreating their farm workers. In The
Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers by Eric Haas, the author starts off by mentioning a
trip he took with Slow Food Portland members in search for the origins of their food. He states
they were going to meet with farm workers and visit their homes which are provided by their
employers, or by nonprofit organizations such as the Farm worker Housing Development
Corporation also knows as FHDC. He then continues by claiming that food being grown and
distributed in our country is harmful to our health, but that problem is already

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Privatization
Privatization refers to the transfer of business, property or ownership of the government to the
private sector. The government will not own the entity or the production anymore. By Kosar
(2006), it is a shift of the function from the state to the private sector. Privatization is often used to
increase the revenue of the government, it is a common economic tool. (Addams, 2006). According
to Poon (2004), privatizationcan be divided into four categories which is sales arrangement:
meaning of transferring ownership of the government to the private enterprises, contracting
arrangement: it involves transfer of service productions from the in house government to the private
contractors, deregulation: reducing the state regulation by market entry restrictions to increase
market competition, user pay: it assumes people are rational and separate individuals who aim to

The privatization of some government owned monopolies often occur deregulation, meaning they
will use some policies that can allow more companies of business enter the industry and increase
market competition. (Pettinger, 2017). With increased market competition, shops tend to decrease
their prices so that they can fight for more customers. It also encourage more development on
products, so more new goods can be produced and consumers can have more product choices.
Owners also provide higher quality services in order to keep their old customers and attract more
new customers. (Lau, 2014). They will also increase their productivity under a more competitive
market, they can respond faster to market changes and make better and more flexible market
decisions. When developing the economy, it promotes the private enterprises, increases financial
flexibility and helps with the expansion of the private sector. (Li, 2012). This leads to an overall

Theme Of Appearance Vs Reality In Macbeth
In real life, many define their trust by judging solely on others by their appearances. Trust is
valued if one is to appear trust worthy or not. Though sometimes, appearances are deceiving. The
theme of Appearance versus reality refers to the entire world in this book. Many of the characters
such as Macbethand Lady Macbeth are deceived by what seems real, but is not. This mistaken
judgment of what is real or not shadows the consequences that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
encounter. At first Macbeth s characters gives the impression of bravery and strength, and also
appears at one point, that he is capable of being a warrior. But throughout the book, it is well
aware that Macbeth s character has no relation to what his true character is. Macbeth is nothing like

Amerika Power
In Franz Kafka s Amerika, there is a clear theatre of power displayed throughout the captain s
office scene, through the use of a tableau on page eleven. Within this tableau Kafka uses the
description of each character s appearance, and actions which allows for readers to distinguish
who holds the most power, and visualize the hierarchy of power. When Karl first enters the room,
the first people readers are introduced within the tableau are the three men sitting at a round table.
The two men wearing black are described as port authority, while the sole person in blue is an
officer on the ship. By just introducing these characters first, one can conclude that these men are of
the lowest level of power within the room: seeing that they are the easiest to access. When one
walks into the room nothing stands in between these men except for a table that is piled high with
documents. The narrator states that the officer views these documents then them hands off to the

It stated that there is a window in between the bursar, and the two noblemen, which makes these
two the least accessible people within the room; similar to that of kings who are the hardest to

they possess. When speaking about the clothing of the two, the captain of the ship is described
as wearing a ship uniform with a slew of medals on his chest which are all visual symbols of
authority and power. Meanwhile, the senator is the only person within the room wearing casual
clothes, and this shows that he is the pinnacle of power. Unlike everyone else, the senator does
not have to participate in the tableau of power, rather everyone is already aware of his status
which allows him to be within an elite space and not have to prove his

The Death Of A Young Girl
In the year 1997 on the 28th of October, a young girl is born. She is small and knows nothing of
the world. But, her parents, they know she will do great things. What they are, they have not a
single clue, but even so, they want to see where she will go. What they don t foresee though, is
the pain she will have to go through first to get there. She is different from most kids. She isn t
attracted to the boys girls in her class fawn over. She finds drawing characters in the shows she
watches with her godfather to be much more interesting. It gets her into trouble with the other kids.
So much so, that her parents are forced to transfer her to another school due to the bullying. Sadly
it does not end there. No matter where she went, she was bullied. But, it doesn t matter. She has art,
and that is all she needs.
Creating new things has always made me happy. Even from a young age, I would have dreams
always urging me to create new stories. The urge to create what is useful and tangible is deeply
human. There s something about it that releases stress and brings us back to center (Sisson). When
I draw, it helps me destress, even if just for a moment. And, when I finish one I end up feeling
much happier. The first symbolic representation of my creative intent is the crane. Throughout all

Egg Donation Failure
In order to identify the problem of egg donation, one must take into account the harm that is
attached to said problem. Without payment regulations, egg donation agencies have the ability to
compete with one another to receive more donations. This lack of order is detrimental to the
health of women because of the financial encouragement to become repeat donors. To decrease
the number of repeat donors, all egg donation agencies should strictly implement the $10,000
maximum payment set forth by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). By
decreasing the payment maximum across the board for all egg donation agencies, women are
less inclined to repeat the process. Monetary benefit may not be the only motivation for women
to donate, however, it is still an incentive that plays a major role in women s decision making. As
an example, Sierra Poulson, a three time donor, revealed that the third time she donated was only
for money (Lewin, 2015). Poulson displays how the market of egg donation works and how
money affects the tendency that women have to continue donating. As a result of decreased
numbers of repeat donors, women are less susceptible to the health risks that come along with the
process. The more serious risk of egg donation is ovarian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As a result, agencies would no longer be in competition with one another to receive more donors by
advertising a better price of compensation. In addition, the lowered financial reward will divide the
donor population between women with charitable intentions and women with monetary intentions,
thus minimizing the numbers of repeat donors that increase their health risks with each donation.
The egg donation industry is flawed in more ways than one, but resolving the pricing issue reduces
the likelihood of women experiencing harmful outcomes in their

How Cultural Psychology Impacts Nonverbal Communication
How Cultural Psychology Impacts Nonverbal Communication
How we communicate directly impacts how we express ourselves to the world around us. Verbal
communication is key in understanding our world and expressing our own feelings and beliefs to
that world. Yet, verbal communication is not the only form of communication we encounter on a
daily basis. In fact, nonverbal communication also plays an important role in expressing emotions,
beliefs, and can even reinforce social ranking and statuses. However, just like verbal
communication, the language of nonverbal cues can be extremely different from one culture to
another. There are some elements of nonverbal communication which do seem innate to the
biological nature of all humans, but the majority of nonverbal cues are essentially culturally
dependent.
Nonverbal behaviors are a powerful tool for facilitating communication within particular cultures
or regions. There are a number of meanings and methods that are employed with the use of
nonverbal cues. First, they help serve as what is known as emblems, which basically convey
simple messages as would a phrase or a sentence if spoken out loud (Bonvillain 2002). In this
sense, they are a type of second language that conveys meaning, without the use of the voice. One
notable example here is the symbol for A OK in the United States. This is a simple hand gesture
that conveys the meaning that everything is fine. Nonverbal behaviors can also serve as speech
illustrators, which

A Study On Presence Centered Youth Ministry
In reading a book it is typical to make notes and highlight passages. However, with Mike King s
Presence Centered Youth Ministry, what started with highlighters, turned to pencil, then sticky
notes. Finally, read now and then read again later became the mantra. It is infrequently that books
resonate with our own theologyand our own transformational journeys, but that is the situation with
Presence Centered Youth Ministry.
Thesis for Presence Centered Youth Ministry One must really dig into the book to get to the thesis.
That is not to say the introduction and the entire first chapter is ineffective, quite the opposite is
true. It is necessary to understand the context and transformation of King s life in order to
appreciate the thesis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King recounts his transition from youth to youth pastor in a conservative setting with a pharisaic
leaning. The real beauty is the ability to use this background and rely on the Spirit, scripture and
tradition to inform the remainder of his theology.
Author s Credentials
King uses Presence Centered Youth Ministry as a teaching tool. Beginning with the current setting,
he then identifies the traits of a spiritual leader, practices that invite the presence of the Spirit into
ministry, scripture, prayer, and a rule of life as means for meeting God. Each of the seven chapters
provides sound reasoning and scriptural support which is truly rooted in Christ. Furthermore, King
has thirty years of ministry experience as well as holding positions within the area of youth
ministry at a national level.
Author s Arguments
King s primary argument is that of the current decline of mainline denominational catechesis,
particularly youth through several factors identified by Hart in Deconstructing Evangelicalism
(Pg. 30). These factors include Succession, Lack of Tradition, Age Segregation, and Decisionism
(Pg. 30, 32, 33, 35). The cumulative effect of these factors is the loss of a consistent catechesis
and formation strategy. Our youth, King provides, are prepared and able to handle a variety of
complex practices for discipleship that

The Theme Of Redemption In The Kite Runner
Throughout people s lives, there is a call for redemption. Some people will face their past and
others will leave it behind. The people who face their pasts will be more than likely to succeed at
redemption. Some characters from Khaled Hosseini s novel, The Kite Runner, are seeking
redemption. The novel is placed in Afghanistan and later shifts to the United States. Amir, a young
Islamic boy who grows up in Afghanistan, watches Hassan get raped when they were young. When
he is older, moving to America is when Amir finds the best opportunity to redeem himself by
starting a new life and adopting Sohrab. Amir goes back to Afghanistan and Rahim Khan describes

says it won t change his mind. Soraya begins to tell him about how she ran away with and the
Afghan man, got into drugs and was rebellious at the time. She tells about when she came home,
her mother had a stroke and felt guilty. Soraya asks Amir if what she told him had bothered him.
Amir says it has in fact bothered him a little and is thinking, I owed her the truth on this one
(165). It has stung his pride, but he does still love her and has not changed his mind. After he
tells Soraya that he still wants to marry her, she broke out in tears. Soraya had the courage to tell
Amir about her past and he accepted it. She successfully redeemed herself of her past life of drugs
and regret.
In Khaled Hosseini s story, The Kite Runner, Amir, Sohrab, and Soraya have tried to find
redemption. The three have succeeded, but their path to redemption has been difficult. Overall,
Amir, and Soraya were struggling with their own past lives, and Sohrab sought redemption for his

Evolution vs Intelligent Design Essay
The suggested separation between church and state in contemporary America is not what the

deconstructing the words, the most insignificant adjective an, tells us that the framers wanted to
restrain Congress from installing any one religion as the official religion of the state. Those

Darwinian evolution is the theory that life after appearance and over time endured mutation and
adaptation through natural selection to eventually yield modern man from the same source, a single
cell. ID is the theory that life exists in its present forms as the product of a purposeful design. Both
theories use natural science to support their ideological conclusions such as embryology, genetics,
and biochemistry. A key to these theories being comparable is that they both suggest that a
preexisting being sparked life on Earth. Within evolution this point is highly debated and denied by
many, however the father of evolution, Charles Darwin, expressed in the Origin of Species his
belief that the first cell received its spark of life by the Creator. (Darwin 1900, 316) This will
soon be important as a reason why evolution should not be taught in public education at all if you
believe that the first amendment means a separation between church and state as evolution at its
roots tells us that God created life on earth. ID at its roots also asserts that an entity also lit the
initial sparks of life on earth. A core difference between the premises of these two theories is found
in their assertions of the identity of this being and will be analyzed next. In contrast, these theories
are substantially different. Darwinian evolution assumes that after the emergence of the first living
cell eons passed as that cell self replicated and began the

Essay on The Power of Women in Richard III
The Power of Women in Richard III
In Shakespeare s The Tragedy of King Richard the Third, the historical context of the play is
dominated by male figures. As a result, women are relegated to an inferior role. However, they
achieve verbal power through their own discourse of religion and superstition. In the opening speech
of Act 1, Scene 2, Lines 1 30 Lady Anne orients the reader to the crucial political context of the
play and the metaphysical issues contained within it (Greenblatt, 509). Lady Anne curses her foes,
using strong language to indicate her authority. She speaks in blank verse, by which she utilizes
imagery to emphasize her emotions and reinforce her pleas. Her speech clearly illustrates the

It is significant that her glowing, positive praise of the King is produced with the religious
language of holiness and honor which gives her power.
In addition to mourning the death of the King, she laments the fall of the House of Lancaster.
The dispute between the house of York and the house of Lancaster is the crucial background of
the tragedy. She asserts the right of the Lancaster dynasty rule in her statement: Th untimely fall
of virtuous Lancaster, / Thou bloodless remnant of that royal blood (1:2:6 7). Taken literally, the
ashes, and the bloodless King relate to a funeral pyre and the white skin tone of death. However
the pale ashes, can also be interpreted as the white rose which represents the King. A bloodless
rose is also the white rose of the King s shield. This division and conflict between the white rose
and the red rose are outside the sphere of Lady Anne s control. The War of the Roses is a war in
the sense that it is within the male sphere and she is unable to change the unhappy result of the
dispute which results in the death of her husband and father in law.
By addressing the ghost of the King, Lady Anne introduces the supernatural. At line 5 she turns
from the pallbearers to address the lifeless form of the King. She describes the figure of the king
as key cold (1:2:5) associating the imagery of the cold metal with the chill of death. Having

Cardiac Substrate Metabolism: Cardiac tissue requires a continuous supply of oxygen and
substrates to rapidly produce energy that is largely used for maintaining contractile function.
Cardiac myocytes efficiently extract 65 70% of oxygen at rest and 80 85% during exertion from

their energy through oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondria, and the remainder from

High intracellular Ca2+ promotes myofibril hypercontracture following pH normalization [115],
and mPTP opening [114]. Ischemic depletion of ATP leads to the attenuation of the Na+/K+
ATPase in the sarcolemma, leading to intracellular accumulation of Na+. High intracellular Na+
leads to a subsequent disruption of Na+/Ca2+ antiporter in the sarcolemma [114], and Ca2+
accumulates in the cytosol. The sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) normally sequesters intracellular
Ca2+, but it becomes either Ca2+ saturated [114], or SR sequestration is depressed due to ATP
depletion [116]. An important connection between calcium overload and ROS is the enzyme XO.
XO is phosphorylated by p38 kinase during hypoxia [117], after which it contributes to cytosolic
generation of ROS. XO indirectly reduces sarcoendoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase through the
generation of ROS, which leads to an intracellular accumulation of Ca2+ [109]. Its inhibition has
been shown to reduce intracellular Ca2+ concentrations

Edelstein Cosmetics Case Study
Order 3 Edelstein Cosmetics Delivers Customer Service Tips For A Busy Office Setting
Anyone who has ever sat waiting in a busy office knows that it can be a tedious occasion that
gets on your nerves. What makes it worse is when the people on the other side of that equation,
the office workers, seem to show little concern for what s going on with the people waiting. This
is a common problem wherever people have to wait for an appointment of some kind. The wait
becomes practically interminable if the setting is inhospitable. And the bad impression it leaves can
make it so you never want to go back.
That s why the workers in the offices of service providers have to be always on the ball when it
comes to their customer service efforts, lest the office in which they work gets less crowded for
all the wrong reasons. People who have to wait for a decent period of time can get extremely testy,
which means that the patience of the workers can be tested in turn. But the extra effort that the
employees demonstrate can make the difference between a satisfied customer and a frustrated one.
At Edelstein Cosmetics, a busy medical center in Toronto specializing in cosmetic surgery and
treatments, that kind of extra effort is par for the course. But, according to CEO XXX, it takes
more than that to give patients in a sensitive situation the kind of tender loving care that eases
their nerves and makes them feel comfortable. What our staff concentrates on is a kind of
proactive approach to dealing with our patients, XXX says. If you let it get to the point where the
patients are coming to you because of their frustrations, you re already at a loss. You have to
search out the problems and issues patients are having instead of waiting for them to be presented
to you, and that includes when you re talking to them on the phone or by e mail, when they re in the
waiting room, or when they re at a treatment or consultation.
So what are some of the ways that this proactive approach might manifest itself? The following
ideas, followed by the Edelstein Cosmetics staff, might give you notions for your own busy office.

In the United States there are over seven million uninsured children where Community Health
Workers (CHWs) have been successfully contributing to the increased number of childhood
insurance enrollments. CHWs incorporated training Parent Mentors (PMs) for soliciting other
parents who would in turn educate and raise awareness to issues such as the management of
asthma, provision of a supportive home environments for early learning and interventional services,
increased immunization rates, identification of food insecurities, poisoning knowledge and safe
farm working environments. Historically, Medicaid and the Children s Health InsurancePrograms
(CHIPs) have provided these services where the enrollees have had to overcome barriers to
challenging, hard to negotiate qualifications, inequities and enrollment processes. Whereby today,
in combination with PM training those deficiencies found in the Medicaid/CHIP system could be
effectively overcome. As qualified PMs reach out to the public it will be necessary to implement
adequate testing measures for performance, skill sets, adequate training, knowledge and
effectiveness. The evaluations of those contributions will directly relate to the overall healthcare of
children and what impact it will have on the overall healthcare system.

expressions. She turned into the most noticeable defender for the foundation of the National
Cultural Center in the country s capital, in the long run to be named for her spouse. At the White

present day jazz, all performed by American organizations. After her meeting with French
Minister of Culture Andre Malraux in May of 1961, he made a credit to the U.S. from France of
the Louver Museum s well known Mona Lisa painting, and Jacqueline Kennedy directed the

Parentese Parentese
It is always exciting for every parent to have babies. It means extra company, extra fun, and extra
love. The company part might be a bit of a challenge, as we know that all babies are not exactly
born with the ability to speak right off the bat. Parents have since then learned to adjust to this
language barrier by speaking to babies in this babble kind of manner that experts have even pegged
as Parentese.
Parentese is, in its simplest sense described by ParentingPassage.com, a way where parents over
exaggerate words to babies, often also heightening pitch and even throwing in a few goofy facial
expressions to attract even more attention. Along with their grabbed attention is how they slowly
understand social cues.
Talking to your babies, Parentese or what, is a way to start your baby s transition from little
babbles to actual words. It is also quite useful when it comes to improving a parent s bond with their
child.
Some parents just have this instinctive drive to go ahead into baby talk, especially mothers.
Research on this subject was done by Professor Jenny Saffran, who teaches psychology at the
University of Wisconsin.
Saffran explained, We ve known for a long time that adults change the way they speak when they
are addressing babies.
They speak more slowly, use shorter sentences, talk at a higher pitch and swoop their pitch up and
down more often than when they are speaking to other adults.
Babies are a curious bunch, and will do whatever with the

Telecommunication Is The Electronic Transmission Of...
1.Introduction Telecommunications is the electronic transmission of signals used for
communication sent via means of telephone, radio, and television. The importance of
telecommunication in business is that it removes delays created by time and distance. With the
proper setup it is possible for a company to communicate with any business and affiliates quickly
just about anywhere in the world. To fully understand telecommunications it is important to
understand the characteristics of telecommunication, network types, and the medium used in
telecommunications. 2.Abstract Basic telecommunication characteristics are the medium that
carries transmitted messages from point A to point B . There is the simplex channel which is a
communications channel that transmits data in one direction only, this particular channel is not
advantages for business due to its one way nature. There is the half duplex channel which can move
that data to multiple locations, however it cannot move them all at the same time, in a company
where speed is needed this may not be the best. Then there is the full duplex channel which is
similar to having two simplex channels, this one permits data to go both ways and multiple flows to
move at the same time. A fourth option is broadband, which is communication channel bandwidth,
and in general broadband simply means that it can move data and information at high speeds, in
recent times the larger the business the more bandwidth is needed to keep

The Story Behind Being a Registered Nurse
Nursing was believed first encountered to start around 300 A.D. in the Roman Empire. This is
when the Empire thought they should place hospitals in every town as their rule. During this time
there were many nurses to assist patients and the sick with doctors. In the middle ages nursing was
based on religion consisting of nuns and monks. In the late 500s and late 600s there was the first
Spanish hospital in Merida, Spain and it was supplied by the Catholic Church.
You may be asking How could someone become a registered nurseor a nurse in general? Well first

bachelor s degree. Diploma programs are offered at hospitals and typically last three years.

Analysis Of Squatters Take On Developers By Benjamin Shors
Many elements influence the implications and receptions of all texts, regardless of the text s media
type. The exact same idea presents itself when comparing the two provided works, an
advertisement for Cruises with the Great White Fleet and an article titled Squatters Take on
Developers by Benjamin Shors. Both of the pieces are only properly juxtaposed upon analyzation of
their respective contexts, intended audiences, uses of language, and structures.
Context in regards to literary works can best be described as the economic, political, and social
situation that was present upon creation of the piece. The advertisement does not explicitly say
when it was created, however, it is highly likely that it was produced in the mid 20th century ...

In the top left corner the piece reads, only first class passengers carried . While this could simply
indicate that the cruise liner treats all passengers equally, it is much more probable that the words
serve as a means to draw their intended audience, the exuberantly wealthy, in with the promise of
an untainted paradise. The article, however, appeared in the newspaper, The Miami Herald. This
implies that it was destined for a much larger audience, one that spans a more diverse, modern, and
inquisitive audience. Similarly, the fact that Shors published the article in Miami suggests that his
reading population will be more sympathetic to the suffering of Panamanians in the articles, as a
large portion of Floridians are Hispanic in ethnicity.
Despite the vastly different intentions of the two works, they do have some similar traits, especially
in regards to their uses of language. Both pieces share emotionally charged language that pushes
forth their own agendas. As to be expected, though, these similarities achieve entirely different
results. The advertisement relies on overly positive and flowery language to draw the audience in.
Words like delightful , excellence , and noteworthy highlight this. While the article does the same
thing, it uses the language to force the reader into a downcast state, attempting to get them to pity
the victims of American capitalism abroad. In this case, Shors uses negatively charged words:

Relationship Between Media And Relationships
Graeme Wright Emma Hudelson 11/15/17 FYS Media and Relationships Media has existed in
our lives for centuries. It is a continuously developing force that has taken over our world today.
In recent history, films were one of the most popular sources of media and highly influential on
the minds of many throughout the world. It gave people certain ideals and stereotypes of how
things should be. Today, film is not the only prominent media source, social media has made its
mark. Mark Zuckerberg s creation of Facebook was the first major type of social media when it
was released in 2004. Since then, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat have become the three most
prominent sources of social media that follow in facebook s footsteps. According to Statista ,
Humans consume over 12 hours of media each day. The 12 hours we spend on media is full of
possible love damaging influences. The view of real love has been altered in recent years due to
fake love. According to Chuck Klosterman, the media has affected the way that humans interpret
love in a negative light but, while this is the case, it s also imperative to show that people can
differentiate between what is fake and what is real. Social media is a common culprit of
permitting fake love. Millennials are the up and coming crop of people looking for love. Social
media plays a major role in the lives of these teens and young adults, which can negatively impact
their chances of finding real love. Facebook negatively influences

Virgin Queen Elizabeth I Propaganda Essay
A porcelain face untouched by time, pearls galore, lace [insert more common characteristics] в€’
this is how one imagines Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen . Even more importantly this is how she
wanted to be viewed. To say portraits of the Protestant monarch that played a key role in her
transformation into such an icon of agelessness and beauty, are purely propagandais debatable. That
being said, the concept of propaganda is one of a rich and evolving history. What today s society
views as propaganda is obscured by the negative connotation of the very word itself. On the other
hand, when looking at the discourse of propaganda in relation to the time of Elizabeth I s reign and

Rather than being seen as the end of the Tudor dynasty due to her inability to marry and produce
an heir, she presents herself as the Virgin Queen, married to her people. Her reign is her
marriage. This concept is rooted once again like her gender in truth and is addressed in many of
her portraits. This too was exaggerated to heighten her to divine ruler status. At the beginning of
her reign portraits showed her as eligible to marry. But by the late 1570s her transition into the
Virgin Queen was in full effect and her portraits were a means to spread this new image. One of
the countless portraits to propagate it was The Rainbow Portrait painted around 1600 03. The
portrait is saturated with symbols of her divine virginity. She is once again, like The Armada
Portrait adorned with pearls, a sign of purity. Pearls are in her veil and headdress, connecting her
sovereignty with the purity of the pearls. The veil shows her as a maiden bride, but one to her
people and faithful to them. There are also some symbols in the portrait with mythical

Human Relationships And The Social Psychological Theories...
Human relationships are the foundation of human life, they strongly influence other individual s
behaviour (Bercheid et al., 2000). There are different types of relationships such as co workers,
friendship, marriage which all involve a connection and therefore is an important characteristic of
the formation of human relationships (Salisch 1996). The purpose of this essay is to explore
research within human relationships and the relevant social psychological theories that have been
linked with this conflicting topic. The theories that will be discussed throughout this essay will be

To explain human relationships further, the social exchange theory can be another definite
explanation to help distinguish how we feel to be with other people and how one perceives to
be with them, either to rekindle their relationship or to question the decisions that make to be in
a relationship (Kelley 1959). The social exchange theory can be defined as a term that allows
behaviour to be exchanged to allow a relationship between two people to happen (Huston et al.,
2013). An individual social life involves interactions between two people which can be viewed as
social exchanges in terms of costs and benefits (Nakagawa et al., 2013). By taking the view of
human relationships the social exchange theory argues that individuals engage in a cost benefit
analysis which forms their relationship with others (Milkie et al., 2004). When the costs and
benefits are equal in a relationship, it is defined as equitable (Siddiqui 2008). Moreover, romantic
relationships may be difficult for some people as it involves interpersonal skills in order to make
them mutually satisfying therefore requires constant maintenance. Recently, Psychologists have
begun to look at the breakdown of relationships and the characteristics which requires them to fail.
The breakdown of relationship is a theory which explains the failure of certain human relationships
and the factors that may be involved such as lack

Often, the patriarchy is viewed as something enforced by men in order to retain their own power

communities serve frequently as some of the most stringent enforcers of the patriarchy. In The
House of Bernarda Alba and Death of a Salesman, the playwrights explore how their female
characters use genderstereotypes to hold onto power or achieve stability. In both plays, Bernarda
Alba and Linda Loman utilize patriarchal notions of gender performativity and roles tactically in
order to achieve their objectives. Yet, at the same time, in both of these plays, moments of
challenge to the traditional structures do occur. In House of Bernarda Alba, Lorca utilizes Adela s
challenges to patriarchal ideas to create the central conflict, whereas, in Death of Salesman, Linda...

Fig 1.3 Centralized topology network For this reason, MANETs are also called infrastructure
less or non infrastructure wireless networks. The term ad hoc implies that this network is a
network established for a special, often extemporaneous service customized to specific
applications. MANETs enable wireless networking in environments where there is no wired or
cellular infrastructure; or, if there is an infrastructure, it is not adequate or cost effective. The
absence of a central coordinator and base stations makes operations in MANETs more complex
than their counterparts in other types of wireless networks such as cellular networks or wireless
local area networks (WiFi networks). In MANETs, routing and resource management are done in a
distributed manner; that is, all nodes coordinate to enable communications among themselves.
This requires each node to be more intelligent so that it can operate both as a network host for

Discrimination at Workplace
Discrimination at workplace
In the USA there has been the problem of discrimination at places of work against people with
disability, based on race, sex, religion in almost all quarters and this has prompted quite a number
of legislations and acts to be passed in a bid to guarantee the people the access and right to use and

Vivian Pearson (2012) notes that the federal law prohibits the employer from making hiring or

membership in a labor union. The specific federal laws that govern the hiring and firing of
employees as well as discrimination of employees at work place are Title VII of the Civil Rights

in Employment Act of 1967, as well as the Civil Rights Act of 1991, collectively the are referred to

Thin Layer Chromatography And Column Chromatography
Thin Layer Chromatography and Column Chromatography
By Maggi Shelton
Under the Supervision of Dr. Mills Chavonda
The Department of Chemistry and Physics
Milledgeville, GA 31061 Abstract:
Thin layer chromatography and column chromatography are two different methods that allow for
the separation of two miscible solvents. Through column chromatography, a mixture of nonpolar
fluorine and polar fluorenone was successfully separated. Thin layer chromatography was then used
in order to determine the success of the separation based upon the calculated Rf values, which if
the Rf value fell below zero or was above one, then the separation was not successful.
Introduction: Methods used to separate miscible solvents include thin layer chromatography
(TLC) as well as column chromatography. A method used to separate a mixture of miscible
solvents is column chromatography, which is used to purify and separate compounds. The
particular speed of the solvents used in the experiment depended upon the properties, being polar
or nonpolar, as well as the properties of the prepared column (INSERT SOURCE HERE). With
column chromatography, there are two phases that include mobile and stationary phases. In the
experiment performed, the glass column used was first packed with a piece of cotton followed by a
layer of sand in order to keep the silica gel in place and also to prevent the gel from flowing out of
the tube when the particular solvent was added. Based upon whether the

As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention. With literally no marketing budget, startups
are forced to seek the optimal and probably most basic way of seeking customers: Focus on who
they are and where they are. You can t spend millions of dollars to build your brand name and
mindshare before influencing the consumers to purchase your product. So, what do you do? You
tweak your product until it meets their needs and you hit the viral button to make growth sky
rocket exponentially. It is a matter of survival for startups. You have no luxury of time nor money
as it is a matter of life and death for your business. The whole company is focused on the same
goal: Get the product right for the customers to justify the existence of the startup.
We now have a term for this: Growth Hacking. This term was coined by Sean Ellis in 2010 where
he blog about a growth hacker as a person whose true north is growth. Everything they do is
scrutinized by its potential impact on scalable growth . This term was introduced by Andrew Chen to

Classical Music Racism
The feeling of sitting down in a dark movie theater with a bucket of buttered popcorn and your
favorite drink is a common experience for most Americans. The lights dim down and the theater is
filled with music; whether it s intense battle music, sweet soft ballets, or a somber melody, the
music sets the mood. What most people don t know is that just over four percent of the musicians
in American orchestras are of black or Latino decent, a statistic that hasn t gone through much
change in the last decade. This leads us to wonder why classical musicis so racist. The four main
issues with racism in the classical musicindustry today are the low percent of minority s in the
United States and Britain, the lack of classical music opportunities in inner city schools, low
advertisement of classical music to minority s, and an unjust audition and commissioning process.
In the United States, there are 117 symphonyorchestras, and only four percent of those orchestras
are made up of black or Latino musicians(WQXR). The first issue of racism in classical music are
the remarkably low percentages of minorities in classical music and the uncomfort that minorities
face in classical music culture. This percentage isn t just low in the US, in Britain only five

Learning Asl After The Classroom
Introduction As a hispanic, it is a rite of passage to speak Spanish. With two full time working
parents, I learned Spanish from my care takers in a home environment. Having care takers that are
immigrants and not highly educated, grammar is not a strong suit and so it was not focused on
when I was learning. Since it was not a school environment, basic grammar rules were memorized
through examples not written and explained. In high school, I took half a year of American Sign
Language. Learning ASL after the critical age in a classroom, made it difficult for me to
memorize the grammar rules. On the first day of class, the professor came in and only
communicated through sign language. After explaining the expectations of the curriculum, she
highly encouraged the class to speak in sign language for the semester. My professor stressed
vocabulary and word order and spent very little time on facial expressions, which effect the
meanings of signs. Along with ASL, I took two years of Spanish in high school. Having two
teachers, I had different experiences in the classroom. My first teacher solely taught the class on
memorization, minimal rules were mentioned and accents were not addressed in class. Much of the
class was taught in English and my teachers Spanish was not the best. My second teacher
challenged the students, he required all responses to be in Spanish, active participation and daily
homework. He focused on grammar rules and applying them in different situations,

How Relations between Superpowers Worsened between 1959 and the Summer of 1962
There are many reasons why relations between the superpowers worsened between 1959 and the
summer of 1962. The USA and USSR were already enemies. This was because they both
represented different ideas. The USA was capitalist, however, The USSR was communist whose
beliefs clashed with Capitalism. Superpower relations were based on fear and suspicion. They
both tried to restrict the influence of the other. In 1947 the Truman Doctrine was published by the
US president Harry Truman. It offered help to any country that was being threatened either from or
within its own borders. This was USA using its power and wealth to ... Show more content on

They tried to have bigger better bombs than the superpower.
In 1962 both leaders were testing nuclear bombs. This is when they decided to test in Cuba. This
lead to the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. Overall relations worsened between superpowers in many
different ways ranging from small to large issues. I think the most important factor in worsening
relations was the changes in Cuba, If these had not taken place then Castro would not have
eventually asked for help from the USSR and a war may not have taken place in Cuba. I think all
the of things that took place more important though some were more than others. They all linked
together and eventually caused a Cuban Missile crisis to take place in 1962.
2) Why did a crisis develop in 1962 about Cuba?
A crisis developed in 1962 for many reasons. Firstly a crisis developed because of 2 reasons,
competition and Arms rivalry. Competition was events such as the arms race where both sides
fought to have bigger better weapons than the other side. They also competed against each other
through sport, trying to win the most Olympic gold s and competed by trying to influence peoples
beliefs and getting more people to support their ideology, either communism or capitalism. There
was also Arms rivalry which was similar as this was also competing for better weapons. This all
contributed to a crisis developing because they were both

2 Aminoanthraquinone Synthesis Lab Report
SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF AMTPAA The amine group of 2 Aminoanthraquinone undergoes
Schiff condensation with carbonyl group of 4 (N,N Diphenylamino) benzaldehyde along with the
formation of water as byproduct. AMTPAA has extended conjugation because of which it can be
used as a hole transport material (HTM). 2 Aminoantharquinone (AAQ) has an absorption peak at
402 nm in UV spectroscopy which is attributed to the ПЂ ПЂ* transition of the atomic C=C ring
and n ПЂ* transition of C=O bond. 2 Azomethine 4 triphenyl amino anthraquinone (AMTPAA) has
an absorption peak at 411nm.
The red shift of 9 nm observed in AMTPAA can be attributed to the extended conjugation which is a
direct consequence of the electron withdrawing azo methane bond and planar conformation of the
azomethane based backbone resulting in electronic push pull effect. An asymmetrical band with
broad shoulder peak towards shorter wavelength (around 340 350 nm) was observed due to the
overlapping with another band of the conjugated structures. As the shoulder peak has weak
absorption in the visible region these compounds will not hinder sunlight from efficiently reaching
the light absorbing molecules.
The FTIR spectrum of 2 Aminoantharquinone shows the stretching frequency for amine group

different pulse rates from the potential range of 0.4 to 1.4 V to infer about oxidation and reduction
peaks of AMTPAA. The differential pulse voltammogram of AMTPAA showed the reduction peaks

Romanticism In The Open Boat
The beginning of American literature was only in the late seventeenth century during the
Puritanism Era. Even then works primarily focused on religious studies and had not developed
continuous themes of their own. As the country began to grow older through the colonial and
revolutionary periods, American literature grew into what it was by the nineteenth century. Within
the Antebellum period, writers had taken on romanticism, transcendentalism, and realism, creating
writings with defined purposes and overarching themes which could be used to develop claims and
commentary on the state of the nation. The Antebellum period was one full of uncertainties,
tensions, political unrest, and the imminent threat of division. The foundations of America
provided basic themes that permeate literature through the American Civil Warfreedom, sacrifice,
and death.

Lab Report on Paper Towels
Which Paper Towel is Stronger and
Has More Absorbency?
Decorator or Sparkle?
Introduction
Paper towels are made from softwood trees which contain long fibers. The tree goes thru several
processes before it is actually turned into a paper towel. The paper towel is made from pulp in
which the water is removed and the fibers then bond into sheets. Also, resin is added to the process
to give the paper towel strength (Union). Several layers are then put together with adhesive and
then formed into a paper towel (Choudhury). Some paper towels are embossed to form air pockets
which help to absorb more liquid and help to add more strength (Union).
The purpose of this experiment is to find out which brand of paper towel, Decorator or ... Show

The process was then repeated for the second brand of paper towel.
The independent variable for the experiment was the paper towels. The dependent variable was the
absorbency and strength. The constants for the experiment were the size of the paper towels that
were used, the amount of water, the size of the beaker, the size of the cylinder and the amount of
the weight.
Results
The results of the experiment for the test of strength were that the Sparkle brand proved to be the
strongest. The average amount that the paper towel would hold before ripping was 583.6 g, which
was 159.2 g more than the Decorator brand held. The Decorator brand only held 424.4 g before it
ripped.
The results of the experiment for the test of absorbency were that the Sparkle brand proved to be
the most absorbent. The average amount of liquid that the Sparkle brand paper towel held was
17.4 mL, which was 4.6 mL more than the Decorator brand held. The Decorator brand only held
12.8 of liquid.

Should People Learn English Before They Move To The United...
How should people from other countries adjust to living in the United States the best ? Should
people move to bigger cities and then to smaller, or move to smaller cities and then bigger. Or get
better jobs before they come to the new country, and get their children ready for school. What I
think people should do from other countries for adjusting in America better are: moving to a smaller
cityfirst, learning english before they move to the United States, and to familiarize themselves with
the technology before they arrive .
Why do I think moving to a smaller city is best? I think this, because moving to a smaller city first
can make it easier for them to adjust, because there aren t a ton of people and the streets aren t
packed with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, because when they get to the United States and get a Job they can know what people are
saying. Also they can teach their kids how to speech english for when they go to school. In my
research it says that everyone when they get to the United States has to take an english test, and
that anyone who takes it must be ready for it . If people did learn english before they came to
America it will help them get a job and read what signs say e.t.c.
Should people that are moving to the United States familiarize themselves with the technology ?
Yes, because when they get to the United States they can know how to use it. I my research it says
that they should have a friend or somebody take them to concerts, movies, and show them how the
technology works . Being familiarized with the technology can help them in their jobs, school
things, and getting in touch with people from the country that they immigrated from.
So how should people from other countries adjust to living in the United States the best ? They
should move to a smaller city when they arrive, learn english before they move, and to familiarize
themselves with the technology. These are what I think people who are moving to America should
do to adjust

The Three Steps Of Study, Prayer, And Realization
A Trinity of Being
The three steps of study, prayer, and realization are spiritual aspects of your endeavor, but all your
physical, emotional, and intellectual activities also have their share in bringing into your
experience the desired good which, in this case, is the unfoldment of your inner spiritual nature.
The Basic Ideas of Science of Mind, pg. 80
When studying the Science of Mind, we must keep in mind that there is only One: an infinite
Life and Being which is the stuff and substance of all. When we consider our relationship with
Life, or our relationship with other living beings for that matter, we are not comparing lives. Do
not think in terms of your life, their life and the life of God. The population of Earth may be
numbered in the billions, but there is only one Life. You and I are not separate individuals, but
individualizations of the universal being we call God. Likewise, when I speak of my mind, or
refer to your mind, I do not wish to suggest that there are many separate minds. There is only one
universal Mind. Our use of the infinite intelligence of Life is what we call our mind; just as our
embodiment of the infinite Life is what we consider to be our own life. There is only one infinite
reality; not a spiritual universe and a physical universe, or a multi verse of infinite possibilities.
There is but one infinite universe that encompasses all possibilities. The many are encompassed in
the One; and the many aspects of one Life are inseparable

Leblanc Orders The T-Shirts
Step 2: What are the ethical issues involved? If LeBlanc orders the t shirts from China she knows
that it has low wages, rigorous work schedules, poor safety regulations, and a lack of worker s
compensation and benefits for its employees. After all, she had witnessed firsthand similar
conditions when she visited a Bulgarian clothing factory while with the University of Virginia.
She also had to think about the global recession, and how it would make the company look by
outsourcing for cheaper t shirts instead of supporting U.S. companies. However, if she orders
the t shirts from the San Francisco company, which she had worked with in the past, she knows
good working conditions exist for the employees there. Also, even though the t shirts were more
expensive they were made of good quality, fair trade, organic, and eco friendly. Step 3: Who are
the stakeholders impacted by the situation? Stakeholders impacted by this situation would
involve CEO, clients, LeBlanc, business image, and the China and San Francisco companies.
The CEO is impacted because if LeBlanc fails, it will reflect on the decision making of the CEO
in giving such an important project to an intern. Also, the clients, because if LeBlanc makes the
decision to go with the China company the t shirts will not be of as good quality, and stylish as
from the San Francisco company. LeBlanc is also impacted because her grade, and her reputation
is on the line. If she decides to order from the China company

I will begin with a presentation of the rationale for the qualitative case study approach. Next, I will present the participant selection criteria, the design of the study, and the methods of the data collection which will include the two interviews (first and follow up), classroom observation, videotaping the participant during instruction, and document data collection. I will also discuss the strategies I will be using to enhance the trustworthiness of the study. At the end of this chapter, I will explain the methods of the data analysis. Appendix A will be included at the end of the chapter. I will develop Table(s) of the data collection. Rationale for Qualitative Approach The choice to choose the qualitative approach will mainly be depended on my purpose and research questions to be addressed. Since the purpose of this case study is to define the teacher s use of ASL fingerspelling will be implemented during instruction. The purpose of my case study is not to compare or measure the effectiveness of the participant s method of instruction, but to observe how the participant uses ASL fingerspelling, if any, during class instruction and how it was implemented. The qualitative approach will be carefully selected .... • 3. Great Expectations Social Class Class is one of the many issues we face in this world, and often some of the worst traits are found in people of high social class. Now, some believe that this is how they were brought up, others believe it is their personalities, or a combination of the two. In Great Expectations, Pip is often made out to be not the kindest or most caring of people. Some attribute this to his social class, however, this is not the case. Pip pushed his old friends out of his life because of his lack of empathy and maturity in regards to his position in life, not solely because his new social standing pushed him towards these conditions In combination with his new social class, Pip s lack of empathy shows itself in how he ВЁdealsВЁ with Joe. As Joe visits Pip... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (209) Dickens shows that no matter if Pip has low or high social class, he will still act the same. This means that, even if social class played some part in how Pip has acted throughout the book, the root issue is Pip s inherent immaturity and lack empathy. Pip s lack of maturity and empathy pushed his old friends out of his life, in cohorts with, but not solely because of his new social class. This is because Pip s absence of empathy pressures Joe in particular, out of his life. Pip s lack of maturity shows in how he ВЁdealsВЁ with Joe. Social class did not determine how Pip acted. Social class was the sole reason Pip acted this way, social class pushed Pip to be the way he is. Social may have been involved, but it was Pip s personality is the main factor that was involved in the whole losing friends and being a jerk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Organizational Culture Organizational Behavior Diversity ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR DIVERSITY COMMUNICATION ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND GROUP DYNAMICS MGT/307 July 20, 2010 Organizational Culture is the system of shared actions, values, and beliefs that has developed within an organization and guides the behavior of its members. Organizational Development consists of special applications of knowledge gained from behavioral science to create a comprehensive design to improve organizational effectiveness. Through the collective experiences, the members of an organization solve two important survival issues. The first issue addresses external adaption which deals with reaching goals, how they are to be accomplished, the methods to be used to achieve these goals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some strategy to help strengthen the organization call for managers to modify observable cultures such as shared values, and common assumptions directly. Most organizations contain a variety of subcultures, and a few have countercultures that can become the source of potentially harmful conflicts. The corporate culture will also reflect the values of the larger national culture. The first step management must take is to first recognize an organized culture s subculture. Subculture s management are referred to in the OB literature by the term Management Philosophy. Management Philosophies link key goal related issues with key collaboration issues and develops guidelines by which the firm will manage its affairs. It is important to have a well developed management philosophy because it links strategy to a more basic understanding of how the firm is to operate. These strategies are; (1) to establish understood boundaries for all members of the firm, (2) to provide a consistent way of approaching new and novel situations, and (3) to help hold individuals together by assuring them of a known path toward success. Managers may and can modify aspects of culture which include; modifying the language, stories, rites, rituals, and sagas. They often will change the lessons to be drawn from the stories told and even encourage people to see the reality they see. • 5. The Ethics Of Eating By Eric Dickers Analysis Unfavorable Towards Employers When it comes to figuring out an author s point of view, it can be simple or complicated. We have to pay close attention to the author s text and ideas to claim a single point of view by analyzing the tone, diction, purpose, and modes of discourse. Readings can have a favorable, unfavorable, neutral, or an ambivalent point of view depending on how the other chooses their words. An author can easily demonstrate how they feel about the topic they are writing such as Eric Haas. Through his writing in his essay, The Ethics of Eating , we can see Haas does not support the maltreat of farm workers. It is common farm workers have one of the low paying jobs, but being treated bad by their employers is wrong. Haas is very clear about this subject in his writing. The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers the essay by Eric Haas, has an unfavorable point of view towards employers mistreating their farm workers. In The Ethics of Eating: Consider the Farmworkers by Eric Haas, the author starts off by mentioning a trip he took with Slow Food Portland members in search for the origins of their food. He states they were going to meet with farm workers and visit their homes which are provided by their employers, or by nonprofit organizations such as the Farm worker Housing Development Corporation also knows as FHDC. Within this tableau Kafka uses the description of each character s appearance, and actions which allows for readers to distinguish who holds the most power, and visualize the hierarchy of power. When Karl first enters the room, the first people readers are introduced within the tableau are the three men sitting at a round table. The two men wearing black are described as port authority, while the sole person in blue is an officer on the ship. By just introducing these characters first, one can conclude that these men are of the lowest level of power within the room: seeing that they are the easiest to access. When speaking about the clothing of the two, the captain of the ship is described as wearing a ship uniform with a slew of medals on his chest which are all visual symbols of authority and power. • 10. Egg Donation Failure In order to identify the problem of egg donation, one must take into account the harm that is attached to said problem. Without payment regulations, egg donation agencies have the ability to compete with one another to receive more donations. This lack of order is detrimental to the health of women because of the financial encouragement to become repeat donors. To decrease the number of repeat donors, all egg donation agencies should strictly implement the $10,000 maximum payment set forth by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). By decreasing the payment maximum across the board for all egg donation agencies, women are less inclined to repeat the process. Monetary benefit may not be the only motivation for women to donate, however, it is still an incentive that plays a major role in women s decision making. As an example, Sierra Poulson, a three time donor, revealed that the third time she donated was only for money (Lewin, 2015). Poulson displays how the market of egg donation works and how money affects the tendency that women have to continue donating. As a result of decreased numbers of repeat donors, women are less susceptible to the health risks that come along with the process. The more serious risk of egg donation is ovarian... • 11. How Cultural Psychology Impacts Nonverbal Communication How Cultural Psychology Impacts Nonverbal Communication How we communicate directly impacts how we express ourselves to the world around us. Verbal communication is key in understanding our world and expressing our own feelings and beliefs to that world. Yet, verbal communication is not the only form of communication we encounter on a daily basis. In fact, nonverbal communication also plays an important role in expressing emotions, beliefs, and can even reinforce social ranking and statuses. However, just like verbal communication, the language of nonverbal cues can be extremely different from one culture to another. There are some elements of nonverbal communication which do seem innate to the biological nature of all humans, but the majority of nonverbal cues are essentially culturally dependent. Nonverbal behaviors are a powerful tool for facilitating communication within particular cultures or regions. There are a number of meanings and methods that are employed with the use of nonverbal cues. First, they help serve as what is known as emblems, which basically convey simple messages as would a phrase or a sentence if spoken out loud (Bonvillain 2002). In this sense, they are a type of second language that conveys meaning, without the use of the voice. One notable example here is the symbol for A OK in the United States. This is a simple hand gesture that conveys the meaning that everything is fine. Nonverbal behaviors can also serve as speech illustrators, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. A Study On Presence Centered Youth Ministry In reading a book it is typical to make notes and highlight passages. However, with Mike King s Presence Centered Youth Ministry, what started with highlighters, turned to pencil, then sticky notes. Finally, read now and then read again later became the mantra. It is infrequently that books resonate with our own theologyand our own transformational journeys, but that is the situation with Presence Centered Youth Ministry. Thesis for Presence Centered Youth Ministry One must really dig into the book to get to the thesis. That is not to say the introduction and the entire first chapter is ineffective, quite the opposite is true. It is necessary to understand the context and transformation of King s life in order to appreciate the thesis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... King recounts his transition from youth to youth pastor in a conservative setting with a pharisaic leaning. The real beauty is the ability to use this background and rely on the Spirit, scripture and tradition to inform the remainder of his theology. Author s Credentials King uses Presence Centered Youth Ministry as a teaching tool. Beginning with the current setting, he then identifies the traits of a spiritual leader, practices that invite the presence of the Spirit into ministry, scripture, prayer, and a rule of life as means for meeting God. Each of the seven chapters provides sound reasoning and scriptural support which is truly rooted in Christ. Furthermore, King has thirty years of ministry experience as well as holding positions within the area of youth ministry at a national level. Author s Arguments King s primary argument is that of the current decline of mainline denominational catechesis, particularly youth through several factors identified by Hart in Deconstructing Evangelicalism (Pg. 30). These factors include Succession, Lack of Tradition, Age Segregation, and Decisionism (Pg. 30, 32, 33, 35). The cumulative effect of these factors is the loss of a consistent catechesis and formation strategy. After deconstructing the words, the most insignificant adjective an, tells us that the framers wanted to restrain Congress from installing any one religion as the official religion of the state. Darwinian evolution is the theory that life after appearance and over time endured mutation and adaptation through natural selection to eventually yield modern man from the same source, a single cell. ID is the theory that life exists in its present forms as the product of a purposeful design. Both theories use natural science to support their ideological conclusions such as embryology, genetics, and biochemistry. A key to these theories being comparable is that they both suggest that a preexisting being sparked life on Earth. Within evolution this point is highly debated and denied by many, however the father of evolution, Charles Darwin, expressed in the Origin of Species his belief that the first cell received its spark of life by the Creator. (Darwin 1900, 316) This will soon be important as a reason why evolution should not be taught in public education at all if you believe that the first amendment means a separation between church and state as evolution at its roots tells us that God created life on earth. ID at its roots also asserts that an entity also lit the initial sparks of life on earth. A core difference between the premises of these two theories is found in their assertions of the identity of this being and will be analyzed next. In contrast, these theories are substantially different. Darwinian evolution assumes that after the emergence of the first living cell eons passed as that cell self replicated and began the ... As a result, women are relegated to an inferior role. However, they achieve verbal power through their own discourse of religion and superstition. In the opening speech of Act 1, Scene 2, Lines 1 30 Lady Anne orients the reader to the crucial political context of the play and the metaphysical issues contained within it (Greenblatt, 509). In addition to mourning the death of the King, she laments the fall of the House of Lancaster. The dispute between the house of York and the house of Lancaster is the crucial background of the tragedy. She asserts the right of the Lancaster dynasty rule in her statement: Th untimely fall of virtuous Lancaster, / Thou bloodless remnant of that royal blood (1:2:6 7). Taken literally, the ashes, and the bloodless King relate to a funeral pyre and the white skin tone of death. However the pale ashes, can also be interpreted as the white rose which represents the King. A bloodless rose is also the white rose of the King s shield. This division and conflict between the white rose and the red rose are outside the sphere of Lady Anne s control. The War of the Roses is a war in the sense that it is within the male sphere and she is unable to change the unhappy result of the dispute which results in the death of her husband and father in law. By addressing the ghost of the King, Lady Anne introduces the supernatural. At line 5 she turns from the pallbearers to address the lifeless form of the King. Cardiac myocytes efficiently extract 65 70% of oxygen at rest and 80 85% during exertion from the blood [1]. During normoxia when oxygen is not limiting cardiac myocytes derive 90% of their energy through oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondria, and the remainder from glycolysis [2, 3]. In a normal heart, 60 90% of acetyl CoA used in the Kreb s cycle is derived from ОІ oxidation of fatty acids (FA) [4, 5]. High intracellular Ca2+ promotes myofibril hypercontracture following pH normalization [115], and mPTP opening [114]. Ischemic depletion of ATP leads to the attenuation of the Na+/K+ ATPase in the sarcolemma, leading to intracellular accumulation of Na+. High intracellular Na+ leads to a subsequent disruption of Na+/Ca2+ antiporter in the sarcolemma [114], and Ca2+ accumulates in the cytosol. The sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) normally sequesters intracellular Ca2+, but it becomes either Ca2+ saturated [114], or SR sequestration is depressed due to ATP depletion [116]. An important connection between calcium overload and ROS is the enzyme XO. XO is phosphorylated by p38 kinase during hypoxia [117], after which it contributes to cytosolic generation of ROS. XO indirectly reduces sarcoendoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase through the generation of ROS, which leads to an intracellular accumulation of Ca2+ [109]. Its inhibition has been shown to reduce intracellular Ca2+ concentrations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What makes it worse is when the people on the other side of that equation, the office workers, seem to show little concern for what s going on with the people waiting. This is a common problem wherever people have to wait for an appointment of some kind. The wait becomes practically interminable if the setting is inhospitable. And the bad impression it leaves can make it so you never want to go back. That s why the workers in the offices of service providers have to be always on the ball when it comes to their customer service efforts, lest the office in which they work gets less crowded for all the wrong reasons. People who have to wait for a decent period of time can get extremely testy, which means that the patience of the workers can be tested in turn. But the extra effort that the employees demonstrate can make the difference between a satisfied customer and a frustrated one. At Edelstein Cosmetics, a busy medical center in Toronto specializing in cosmetic surgery and treatments, that kind of extra effort is par for the course. But, according to CEO XXX, it takes more than that to give patients in a sensitive situation the kind of tender loving care that eases their nerves and makes them feel comfortable. What our staff concentrates on is a kind of proactive approach to dealing with our patients, XXX says. If you let it get to the point where the patients are coming to you because of their frustrations, you re already at a loss. You have to search out the problems and issues patients are having instead of waiting for them to be presented to you, and that includes when you re talking to them on the phone or by e mail, when they re in the waiting room, or when they re at a treatment or consultation. So what are some of the ways that this proactive approach might manifest itself? The following ideas, followed by the Edelstein Cosmetics staff, might give you notions for your own busy office. The company part might be a bit of a challenge, as we know that all babies are not exactly born with the ability to speak right off the bat. Parents have since then learned to adjust to this language barrier by speaking to babies in this babble kind of manner that experts have even pegged as Parentese. Parentese is, in its simplest sense described by ParentingPassage.com, a way where parents over exaggerate words to babies, often also heightening pitch and even throwing in a few goofy facial expressions to attract even more attention. Along with their grabbed attention is how they slowly understand social cues. Talking to your babies, Parentese or what, is a way to start your baby s transition from little babbles to actual words. It is also quite useful when it comes to improving a parent s bond with their child. Some parents just have this instinctive drive to go ahead into baby talk, especially mothers. Research on this subject was done by Professor Jenny Saffran, who teaches psychology at the University of Wisconsin. Saffran explained, We ve known for a long time that adults change the way they speak when they are addressing babies. They speak more slowly, use shorter sentences, talk at a higher pitch and swoop their pitch up and down more often than when they are speaking to other adults. The social exchange theory can be defined as a term that allows behaviour to be exchanged to allow a relationship between two people to happen (Huston et al., 2013). An individual social life involves interactions between two people which can be viewed as social exchanges in terms of costs and benefits (Nakagawa et al., 2013). By taking the view of human relationships the social exchange theory argues that individuals engage in a cost benefit analysis which forms their relationship with others (Milkie et al., 2004). Thin layer chromatography was then used in order to determine the success of the separation based upon the calculated Rf values, which if the Rf value fell below zero or was above one, then the separation was not successful. Introduction: Methods used to separate miscible solvents include thin layer chromatography (TLC) as well as column chromatography. A method used to separate a mixture of miscible solvents is column chromatography, which is used to purify and separate compounds. The particular speed of the solvents used in the experiment depended upon the properties, being polar or nonpolar, as well as the properties of the prepared column (INSERT SOURCE HERE). With column chromatography, there are two phases that include mobile and stationary phases. In the experiment performed, the glass column used was first packed with a piece of cotton followed by a layer of sand in order to keep the silica gel in place and also to prevent the gel from flowing out of the tube when the particular solvent was added. With literally no marketing budget, startups are forced to seek the optimal and probably most basic way of seeking customers: Focus on who they are and where they are. You can t spend millions of dollars to build your brand name and mindshare before influencing the consumers to purchase your product. So, what do you do? You tweak your product until it meets their needs and you hit the viral button to make growth sky rocket exponentially. It is a matter of survival for startups. You have no luxury of time nor money as it is a matter of life and death for your business. The whole company is focused on the same goal: Get the product right for the customers to justify the existence of the startup. We now have a term for this: Growth Hacking. This term was coined by Sean Ellis in 2010 where he blog about a growth hacker as a person whose true north is growth. Everything they do is scrutinized by its potential impact on scalable growth . This term was introduced by Andrew Chen to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Classical Music Racism The feeling of sitting down in a dark movie theater with a bucket of buttered popcorn and your favorite drink is a common experience for most Americans. The lights dim down and the theater is filled with music; whether it s intense battle music, sweet soft ballets, or a somber melody, the music sets the mood. What most people don t know is that just over four percent of the musicians in American orchestras are of black or Latino decent, a statistic that hasn t gone through much change in the last decade. This leads us to wonder why classical musicis so racist. The four main issues with racism in the classical musicindustry today are the low percent of minority s in the United States and Britain, the lack of classical music opportunities in inner city schools, low advertisement of classical music to minority s, and an unjust audition and commissioning process. In the United States, there are 117 symphonyorchestras, and only four percent of those orchestras are made up of black or Latino musicians(WQXR). The first issue of racism in classical music are the remarkably low percentages of minorities in classical music and the uncomfort that minorities face in classical music culture. This percentage isn t just low in the US, in Britain only five percent of minorities make up professional orchestras (mediadiversified). When you think of the music industry as a whole, it looks extremely diverse especially in pop music, since the industry is so diverse its easy for diverse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Learning Asl After The Classroom Introduction As a hispanic, it is a rite of passage to speak Spanish. With two full time working parents, I learned Spanish from my care takers in a home environment. Having care takers that are immigrants and not highly educated, grammar is not a strong suit and so it was not focused on when I was learning. Since it was not a school environment, basic grammar rules were memorized through examples not written and explained. In high school, I took half a year of American Sign Language. Learning ASL after the critical age in a classroom, made it difficult for me to memorize the grammar rules. On the first day of class, the professor came in and only communicated through sign language. After explaining the expectations of the curriculum, she highly encouraged the class to speak in sign language for the semester. My professor stressed vocabulary and word order and spent very little time on facial expressions, which effect the meanings of signs. Along with ASL, I took two years of Spanish in high school. Having two teachers, I had different experiences in the classroom. My first teacher solely taught the class on memorization, minimal rules were mentioned and accents were not addressed in class. Much of the class was taught in English and my teachers Spanish was not the best. My second teacher challenged the students, he required all responses to be in Spanish, active participation and daily homework. He focused on grammar rules and applying them in different situations, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Relations between Superpowers Worsened between 1959 and the Summer of 1962 There are many reasons why relations between the superpowers worsened between 1959 and the summer of 1962. The USA and USSR were already enemies. This was because they both represented different ideas. The USA was capitalist, however, The USSR was communist whose beliefs clashed with Capitalism. Superpower relations were based on fear and suspicion. They both tried to restrict the influence of the other. In 1947 the Truman Doctrine was published by the US president Harry Truman. It offered help to any country that was being threatened either from or within its own borders. This was USA using its power and wealth to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They tried to have bigger better bombs than the superpower. In 1962 both leaders were testing nuclear bombs. This is when they decided to test in Cuba. This lead to the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. Overall relations worsened between superpowers in many different ways ranging from small to large issues. I think the most important factor in worsening relations was the changes in Cuba, If these had not taken place then Castro would not have eventually asked for help from the USSR and a war may not have taken place in Cuba. I think all the of things that took place more important though some were more than others. They all linked together and eventually caused a Cuban Missile crisis to take place in 1962. 2) Why did a crisis develop in 1962 about Cuba? A crisis developed in 1962 for many reasons. Firstly a crisis developed because of 2 reasons, competition and Arms rivalry. Competition was events such as the arms race where both sides fought to have bigger better weapons than the other side. They also competed against each other through sport, trying to win the most Olympic gold s and competed by trying to influence peoples beliefs and getting more people to support their ideology, either communism or capitalism. There was also Arms rivalry which was similar as this was also competing for better weapons. This all contributed to a crisis developing because they were both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. 2 Aminoanthraquinone Synthesis Lab Report SPECTRAL ANALYSIS OF AMTPAA The amine group of 2 Aminoanthraquinone undergoes Schiff condensation with carbonyl group of 4 (N,N Diphenylamino) benzaldehyde along with the formation of water as byproduct. AMTPAA has extended conjugation because of which it can be used as a hole transport material (HTM). 2 Aminoantharquinone (AAQ) has an absorption peak at 402 nm in UV spectroscopy which is attributed to the ПЂ ПЂ* transition of the atomic C=C ring and n ПЂ* transition of C=O bond. 2 Azomethine 4 triphenyl amino anthraquinone (AMTPAA) has an absorption peak at 411nm. The red shift of 9 nm observed in AMTPAA can be attributed to the extended conjugation which is a direct consequence of the electron withdrawing azo methane bond and planar conformation of the azomethane based backbone resulting in electronic push pull effect. An asymmetrical band with broad shoulder peak towards shorter wavelength (around 340 350 nm) was observed due to the overlapping with another band of the conjugated structures. As the shoulder peak has weak absorption in the visible region these compounds will not hinder sunlight from efficiently reaching the light absorbing molecules. Even then works primarily focused on religious studies and had not developed continuous themes of their own. As the country began to grow older through the colonial and revolutionary periods, American literature grew into what it was by the nineteenth century. Within the Antebellum period, writers had taken on romanticism, transcendentalism, and realism, creating writings with defined purposes and overarching themes which could be used to develop claims and commentary on the state of the nation. The tree goes thru several processes before it is actually turned into a paper towel. The paper towel is made from pulp in which the water is removed and the fibers then bond into sheets. Also, resin is added to the process to give the paper towel strength (Union). Several layers are then put together with adhesive and then formed into a paper towel (Choudhury). Some paper towels are embossed to form air pockets which help to absorb more liquid and help to add more strength (Union). The Three Steps Of Study, Prayer, And Realization A Trinity of Being The three steps of study, prayer, and realization are spiritual aspects of your endeavor, but all your physical, emotional, and intellectual activities also have their share in bringing into your experience the desired good which, in this case, is the unfoldment of your inner spiritual nature. The Basic Ideas of Science of Mind, pg. 80 When studying the Science of Mind, we must keep in mind that there is only One: an infinite Life and Being which is the stuff and substance of all. When we consider our relationship with Life, or our relationship with other living beings for that matter, we are not comparing lives. Do not think in terms of your life, their life and the life of God. The population of Earth may be numbered in the billions, but there is only one Life. You and I are not separate individuals, but individualizations of the universal being we call God. Likewise, when I speak of my mind, or refer to your mind, I do not wish to suggest that there are many separate minds. There is only one universal Mind. Our use of the infinite intelligence of Life is what we call our mind; just as our embodiment of the infinite Life is what we consider to be our own life. There is only one infinite reality; not a spiritual universe and a physical universe, or a multi verse of infinite possibilities. There is but one infinite universe that encompasses all possibilities. The many are encompassed in the One; and the many aspects of one Life are inseparable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If LeBlanc orders the t shirts from China she knows that it has low wages, rigorous work schedules, poor safety regulations, and a lack of worker s compensation and benefits for its employees. After all, she had witnessed firsthand similar conditions when she visited a Bulgarian clothing factory while with the University of Virginia. She also had to think about the global recession, and how it would make the company look by outsourcing for cheaper t shirts instead of supporting U.S. companies. However, if she orders the t shirts from the San Francisco company, which she had worked with in the past, she knows good working conditions exist for the employees there. Also, even though the t shirts were more expensive they were made of good quality, fair trade, organic, and eco friendly. Step 3: Who are the stakeholders impacted by the situation? Stakeholders impacted by this situation would involve CEO, clients, LeBlanc, business image, and the China and San Francisco companies. The CEO is impacted because if LeBlanc fails, it will reflect on the decision making of the CEO in giving such an important project to an intern. Also, the clients, because if LeBlanc makes the decision to go with the China company the t shirts will not be of as good quality, and stylish as from the San Francisco company.
