African American Teachers
An American psychiatrist by the name of William Glasser once stated, When you study great
teachers...you will learn much more from their caring and hard work than from their style. Teachers
are a huge part of an individual s life. From the time a person enters into preschool until the
complete cessation of their educational career, the teachers and professors along the way each
influence that student s perspective and feeling towards the particular subject they taught. With
daily interactions, teachers become a part of a student s microsystem. They are often times the only
other constant adult figure in their student s life apart from the caregiver. Whether it is
acknowledged or not, the importance of teacher cannot be overstated. Unfortunately,... Show more

There will be one semi instructed interview a week asking about specific situation in the
classroom. During the interviews snacks and drinks will be provided for the students to enable
them to feel more comfortable in the coming days. The purpose of this study is to see if there is
a significant impact of African American teachers on female African American students
academic achievement. The participants test scores will be recorded on a laptop. The notes
from the interviews and observations in the classroom will be kept in separate notebooks. At the
beginning of the research, the teachers will be asked how their teaching style differs from the
normative teaching module. Also the participants will be given notebooks to record their own
feelings about school and life in. Every two months the material will be collected and recorded
in a laptop. Every four months the 11 15 year old participants will be given a 15 dollar gift card to

will be member checking and the and all three researchers will combine notes to ensure what is

PESTEL Analysis of K-Mart
PESTEL Analysis Understanding the general environment of a certain business requires
knowledge regarding the key factors and trends in broader society. PESTEL Analysis gives a
business the ability to break down the general environment into six different categories: Political,
Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal. By analyzing and studying each area,
a company can create a strategy that most benefits them. Sears and K Mart are two retail
businesses that can gain from understanding the general environment through PESTEL Analysis.
They could use it bad. One way to take a step forward is by creating new innovative strategies and
conducting a PESTEL analysis is a good place to start.

Technology is everywhere we look and its getting better and better. Technology has affected the
way Sears and K Mart strategized in the past. In an attempt to bridge digital and in store
shopping, Sears and K Mart rolled out iPads and iPod touch devices to almost 450 stores around
the country in October 2011.5 Kimberly Freely, spokeswoman for Sears, Chicago, explained the
move: We wanted to enhance the relationship between customers and associates and improve the
overall shopping experience, adding that, it is part of our strategy to become more of an integrated
retailer and combining the digital and retail formats within the company. This goes to show the
impact that technology is having on the retail market. Today Sears and K Mart are still striving to
incorporate advanced technology in order to improve.
Environmental and Legal factors are the last two pieces of PESTEL analysis. Sears and Kmart have
aligned their environmental goals with that of the general public. Sears and Kmart realize
promoting a clean environment can benefit both themselves and society as a whole. Many of the
appliances Sears sells tout the label of being energy efficient. This reflects Sears and Kmarts efforts
to educate customers about a variety of environmental issues, including carbon and energy
management, waste reduction and recycling, and water and transportation management. On Sears

Taking a Look at Liberia
Established on the banks of western Africa is a small country known as Liberia. Liberia is an
astonishing country, with its history and culture. The first thing you might notice about Liberia is
its African heritage. Liberia was not only founded but also colonized but freed African slaves. It is
also known fact that the people are very friendly in Liberia. The culture of Liberia is amazing;
some people still carve out African figurines. This country has fought a long way for its freedom.
That s why it is a wonderful land of liberty! This nation needs to be recognized and you will agree
that Liberia needs to be visited at least once.
Liberia
Wouldn t you love to visit this country Located in West Africa, Liberia has a land mass of
11,369 square kilometers and a population of about four million. The capital is Monrovia. The
official language is English and over thirty home grown languages are also spoken in the country.
You may wonder why I selected this country; I do not know truly myself, but the more I
researched about it the more fascinated I became. I assume that will happen to you, too, to see how
far this country has come. (Forced Migration Online: Liberia, 2011)

The Uniqueness Of The Kodaly Method
Chapter One The Uniqueness of the Kodaly Method Zoltan Kodaly chose a child developmental
approach when developing his method. This approach teaches skills in the order and pace in
which the child develops rather than subject logic. In a subject logic approach there is no
relationship between the order of presentation and the order in which children learn easily. The
subject matter is simply organized in a fashion that seems reasonable in terms of content. The
subject logic approach rhythmically begins with the whole note and progresses in a manner that is
mathematically reasonable, proceeding next to the half note and then to the quarter note. This
progression is, however, very difficult for a beginning student who has not yet even learned how
to feel a basic beat. Melodically speaking, the diatonic major scale is the general starting point
from a subject logic approach. This also causes issues because the average young child cannot
accurately sing a diatonic major scale. According to research, most children are able to sing a range
of only five or six tones and cannot produce half steps in tune. Unlike the subject logic approach, the
child development approach of the Kodaly method requires arranging subject matter into patterns
that align with the sequence of normal child abilities at various stages of growth. Rhythmically
speaking, moving rhythms are more child related than sustained rhythms. Children can relate a
rhythm such as steady beat quarter

The Hazards of Space Travel for the Human Body
In the year 2042, aerospace engineers continue to struggle with the challenge of a manned mission
to mars. Biomedical complications disrupt any advancements in the effort, as astronaut safety is
considered the most fundamental aspect of a successful mission. In order to study the effects of
weightlessness and radiation in a deep space environment, NASA launches a government funded
space station into high earth orbit. The astronaut s medical health is studied over a six month
period, as their bodies adapt to the low gravity environment and radiation becomes a crucial
concern.

As an organism in a hostile environment, precautions must be made.
An astronaut must maintain peak physical health to ideally preform and adapt to a space
environment. In order to minimize the extent of medical concerns, strict medical standards are
established to guarantee the correct crew for the mission. Designed by surgeons and experts in
aerospace medicine, the regulations mirrored those of the U.S Air force. Extensive consideration is
taken in the categories of blood pressure, radiation exposure, hearing, dental health, and precise
body composition. Annual medical certification examinations are conducted by flight medicine
physicians. These exams insure that the crew is not only fit for space flight, but also for training.
Crew members are given a supporting exam at launch, as well as two days after landing (Risin).
The information found in these last minute exams is used to analyze the effects of space travel on
the astronauts.
Only 7 missions in American history included biomedical objectives as a goal amongst each
operations highest priorities. As of May 1961 to May 1963, Project Mercury was conducted to
assess the ability for man to survive in an environment outside of earth. The endeavor completed
four orbital missions and two sub orbital flights, the longest of which lasted 34 hours. Although the

Abstract Sleepwalking, also known as somnambulism, is a sleep disorder belonging to the
parasomnia family. Sleepwalking is a disorder that occurs when people walk or do another
activity while they are still asleep. These activities can be as benign as sitting up in bed, walking
to the bathroom, and cleaning, or as hazardous as cooking, driving, having sex, violent gestures,
grabbing at hallucinated objects, or even homicide. The prevalence of sleepwalking in the general
population is estimated to be between 1% and 15%. SLEEPWALKING Sleepwalking, formally

Babies and children spend most of their time in this stage, but as we grow older we spend less time
in REM. (Blackman, 2000) * Non REM sleep Non REM sleep is a much deeper, more restful kind
of sleep. In non REM sleep, the person s body is free to move around. Non REM dreams are more
likely to consist of brief, fragmentary impressions that are less emotional and less likely to involve
visual images than REM sleep dreams and are more frequently forgotten. The period of Non REM
sleep is made up of four stages. Each stage can last from 5 to 15 minutes. A completed cycle of
sleep consists of a progression from stages 1 4 before REM sleep is attained, then the cycle starts
over again. People begin the sleep cycle with a period of non REM sleep followed by a very short
period of REM sleep (Chang, 2010). A machine called an electroencephalograph (EEG) allows
scientists to see the brain wave activity as a person passes through the various stages of sleep to
determine what type of sleep the person has entered ( Aserinsky amp; Kleitman, 1953). A person
who is wide awake and mentally active will show a brain wave pattern on the EEG called beta
waves. Beta waves are small and fast. As the person relaxes and gets drowsy, slightly larger and
slower alpha waves appear. The alpha waves are eventually replaced by even slower and larger
theta waves. Non REM Stage 1: as theta wave activity

Disadvantages Of Process Control
Process control plays a crucial role in the chemical engineering industry. The aim of process control
is to have a safe plant operation, to attain the design product output, to obtain quality standards from
maintaining the product composition and to operate at the lowest production cost (Sinnott, 2005).
A process control systemis there to eliminate or implement corrective actions on any disturbance
that occurs during operation of a process. Achieving these actions is done through using control
loops that measure specific process variables, compare a desired output to these variables and
control another variable to correct any deviation in the set point of the system being investigated
(Svrcek, Mahoney, Young, 2006).

taste of vomit, you may brush your teeth vigorously, use harsh toothpastes and mouthwash, or chew
on gum and candy all the time. This aggressive oral care can cause more harm than good when

Summary of the CBA Scandal
In October 2008 ASIC was notified that CBA (Commonwealth Bank of Australia) had attempted to
conceal the unlawful actions of one of their most senior financial planners, who had control of an
estimated $300 million in investments. (Adele Ferguson, CBA Cover Up Misconduct by Rogue

Through extensive surveillance on the conduct of CBA s financial planning activities between 2007
and 2008, ASIC uncovered evidence which supported claims that the standards of CBA s operations

Secrets and Style of Sir Poe Gothic fiction is the strange, dark, spooky, and supernatural writing
style loved by readers of all ages. Most of the stories written in the Gothic style were centered in
the gothic medieval period. Several renowned books like The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston
Leroux and The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo were written in this style. Edgar Allan
Poe was one well known Gothic writer and poet from the early eighteen hundreds; he was
especially famous for his tales of mystery and macabre. A popular dark short story, The Tell Tale

Therefore, the metaphors used by Poe supports the sinister mood of the short story and poem.
Diction, or word choice, is also used in The Tell Tale Heart and The Raven to indirectly
characterize the narrator and speaker. The narrator of The Tell Tale Heart, upon spying the
vulture eye of the old man, depicts it as all a dull blue, with a hideous veil over [the eye] that
chilled the very marrow in [his] bones (Poe 355). Through using the word hideous and the
phrase chilled the very marrow in [his] bones , the narrator blatantly reveals his wariness
towards the old man s eye. The narrator feels threatened by the eye, which indirectly
characterizes him as insane because it is unnatural for people to feel terrorized by appearance.
Additionally, the speaker in The Raven claims that while he dreams about Lenore in the
presence of the raven, the air [grows] denser, perfumed from an unseen censer / Swung by
Seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor (Poe 79, 80). Censer and Seraphim are two
words that express the speaker s longing for Lenore, as a censer is a covered incense burner
usually used in funerals, and Seraphim is an order of angels from Heaven. The reference to angels
and funerals indirectly characterizes the speaker as

Analysis Of Long Day s Journey Into The Night And The Enemy
In the two readings of Eugene O Neill s Long Day s Journey Into the Night and Margarita
Spalding Gerry s The Enemy , we can compare and contrast the main characters of the women in
each reading on behalf of their drug addiction. In Eugene O Neill s Long Day s Journey Into the
Night, Mary Tyrone struggles with her addictionof Morphineand in Margarita Spalding Gerry s The
Enemy , Mrs. Campbell also struggles with morphine addiction. In both readings we can
compare and contrast each of these women s lifestyles and how they are affected by their
morphine addiction. In both readings, these two women were prescribed morphine by their
doctors. In Long Day s Journey Into the Night, Mary Tyrone is prescribed morphine for her so
called Rheumatism and Mrs. Cambell from The Enemy was prescribed morphine for some
slight neuralgic trouble, after analyzing both texts, it seems like the reasons for their morphine
prescription is just a cover up for a different and a more deep reasoning to kill their pain. In The
Enemy the doctor is blamed for prescribing Mrs. Campbell morphine just to make a profit, Oh
yes, there are always druggists that pander to anything with a profit Both doctors can be put at
fault for the start of their addiction for prescribing morphine to someone who does not
necessarily need it. By prescribing morphine to these women, they have an excuse to continue
their use of morphine because they believe they have a logical problem that they need to control.
In Long Day s Journey Into the Night, Mary recognizes her doctor is all in it for profit, I hate
doctors! They ll do anything anything to keep them coming to them. They ll sell their souls!
What s worse, they ll sell yours, and you never know it till one day you find yourself in hell!

disease as a legitimate excuse to use morphine as she explains to her son Edmund that she shouldn

Since my game cost only one ticket to play, and the lowest possible amount of tickets that you
could win was two, the probability of gaining tickets in my game was 100%, or 1/1. Since the
numbers of winners in each category of my game was not very spread out, neither were the

Demetrius s Transformation
Love, False Love, Dream is all a part of the book/play, Midnight summer Dream by William
Shakespeare. I choose to do Demetrius he was the one who was in love the whole time. Not the
whole time with one girl but with two. He was in love with Helena. But Puck put a spell on him so
he would stop loving Helena. Demetrius start to lovea different girl. But, really inside he love
Helena. Puckwas the one who put a spell on him. Puck start going crazy and tried to fixed what
he has done wrong. He was trying to reverse the spell. After, a couple time Puck got the spell of

none. If e er I loved her, all that love is gone.My heart to her but as guest wise sojourned,And now
to Helen is it home returned, There to remain. (3.2.72 76) . This quote is explaining how
Demetrius has been enchanted, which should excuse him. But remember that this will be his
second transformation in love. First he loved Helena, then he loved Hermia, and now he loves
Helena again. Though we know this last transformation was caused by magic, he was fickle even
before being enchanted.

has the capacity to blind us to the truth. This idea comes up again when Titania literally falls in

The Constitution and the Separation of Powers
One of the earliest ideas of separating powers came in the 1600 s and is evidenced by the idea
that the parliament then is what we would consider today as being the Legislative branch of
government since it was in charge of taxes. To be a king in those days would be similar to the
Executive branch, as the king conducted wars and enforced the law. However, credit is often given
to Baron de Montesquieu, a French philosopher. According to the authors of our text book, John
Locke initially desired there to be to branches of government, a legislative branch to create the laws
and an executivebranch to enforce the laws. Montesquieu then supplemented Locke s idea by
adding a judiciarybranch to resolve conflicts that the two branches by incur.
When written, the Constitution laid out the basis for the separation of powers. In order to prevent
any one branch of having complete control and power, each of the branches of government has
certain powers and responsibilities in order to keep each other from exerting too much power. This
is known as checks and balances.
The first branch of government we will be looking at is the legislative branch. The legislative
branch of government is responsible for making and passing laws and is more commonly known
as Congress. Keeping in the nature of checks and balances, Congress has been granted certain
powers to make sure that the judiciary branch and the executive branches do not abuse their power.
One of the more robust powers that Congress

With happiness in relationships continuing to decline as well at the rate of divorces rising it is no
surprise that marriage and love has lost the value it once had. Edgar Lee Masters writer of the

his time. He is able to display this though several of his poems within the anthology. His
unhappiness with love, romance, relationships and marriageare shown through his poems that

Edgar Lee Masters uses the poem of Amanda Barker in order to show his own views of

Theme Of Sex In The Sun Also Rises
The Sun Also Rises is a novel by Ernest Hemingway, which explores the post World War I life of
a group of American and British expatriates. The story follows these expatriates as they journey
from Paris to Pamplona for the Festival of San Fermin. The group indulges in wild nightlife,
which includes drinking, dancing, and watching bullfights. This lifestyle takes the characters
through the emotions of anger, fear, and regret. The lone female character of the group, Lady
Brett Ashley, is an attractive, intelligent, and carefree divorcГ©e that the men in the circle
constantly lust for. Her appeal to the men causes a great deal of sexual jealousy. The concept of
sex is a devastating force that damages the group. Sex is able to destroy relationships, people
internally, and the purpose of life for the characters.
There are many relationships in The Sun Also Rises, each one having similar qualities to the
others. Most of the relationships revolve around Lady Brett Ashley, who is very outspoken
about her love life. She has had sexual relations with many men, and has even had affairs, but
does not feel guilty about her lifestyle. The narrator of the story, Jake Barnes, is very attracted to
Brett, and Brett has mutual feelings about Jake. However, Jake is impotent, because of a wound
he received from serving in World War I. Although Jake and Brett love each other, Brett s sexual
desire is too strong for her to abandon for Jake. She would not be able to leave her sex life, not

Programs. By Amy Sussna Klein from Earlychildhood News http://www.earlychildhoodnews.com
/earlychildhood/article_view.aspx?ArticleID=367 Montessori Method there are two branches of
Montessori schools the first is the Association Montessori International which was started by the
founder Maria Montessori in 1907. The second branch is the American Montessori society started
by Nancy Rambush in an attempt to Americanize the Montessori Method. Montessori schools have
multi aged classes that have self correcting materials that the children use. The children are allowed
to make use of any of the equipment in the classroom after they have been given a silent
demonstration by the teacher.
The High/Scope, Approach founded in 1970 by the work that Dave Weikart and Connie Kamii did
on the Parry Preschool Project. These early educators thought that early education could prevent
school failure in high school. They believed that children learn by mentally and physically
interacting with the environment and with others. One of the main features is that children are
encouraged to be active in their learning. Teachers in the High/Scope school classrooms are
interactive often observing and setting up problem solving situations for the children.
The Reggio Emilia Approach is relatively new in the U.S.A this method is used in northern Italy.

American Gay Rights
Lesbians, gays, bisexual, and transgender Americans face many oppressions and do not share the
same civil rights as their fellow heterosexual citizens. In my opinion, your sexual preferences
should not dictate your civil rights. Sadly, this is not the case in America. The Declaration of
Independence proclaims that all men are created equal with the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of
happiness. However, in today s society homosexual are not giving the same opportunity to achieve
their pursuit of happiness. Many LGBTAmericans have fought and still fighting for the rights,

Why Did Texas Fight In Civil War Essay
Why fight?
Binding a state to conformity, can only result in uprising a revolt against society. Multiple cases can
fit this situation, including the infamous civil war and Texas contribution towards it. Many
situations lead to Texas rebelling against the union; all including things like the North and South
having disputes over slavery, disagreements on the right to secede, and overall a domestic battle
for power. These incidents led to an incredibly enraged Texas, making one ponder: why did Texas
fight in the civil war? Well, Texas fought in the civil war because of their love for Texas, to defend
their state rights, and preserve Slavery.
The first reason was their love for Texas. Many soldiers fought in the civil war, one of them being

As Texas State Gazette mentioned No state can force another state either to remain in it or
withdraw from it ; this was later supported by O.M Roberts, president of the Texas Secession
Convention, when he said the true theory of our national government as an associations of
sovereignties not a mass of people in one social compact. (document C). Each statement supports
the fact that the united states should grant each state their own power. By doing this it gives
people popular sovereignty, this means more individual freedom and a happier government. Texas
felt the need to not have to follow a set of rules created by a federal system. The Union deprived
Texas of this right because it wanted to stay in control, this ended up giving the Union Hitlerian
aspects which incensed Texas.
The most important reason why the Texas fought in the civil war was to preserve slavery. Texas
believed that white men established the government and African Americans did not (document B).
Texans wanted power, and maintaining slavery would not only bring power but and economic
uprising. Since 182,566 people were enslaved in 1860, this being 30% of the Texas population
(document A), many Texans used slavery for farming and cultivating crops. Slavery was key in
sustaining the Economy. It s simply like a math equation, slavery plus crops equals economy, take

The Right Of Prescribe Medication For Psychologist Have...
The right to prescribe medication for psychologist have been a hot topic in the mental health field
and have been a major goal of the American Psychological Association. In fact, the American
Psychological Association have established many different training programs and legislations
towards achieving this goal. Today, the state of New Mexico, Louisiana, and Illinois are the three
states that have approved prescription rights for psychologist, with many other state have already
introduced similar legislation waiting for approval. It is believed that the benefits of granting
prescription rights to psychologist are that it would improve mental health service, affordability,
accessibility and effectiveness of mental health treatment. However, giving psychologist the
prescription right could lead to many negative factors such as psychologist s lack of appropriate
training for prescribing medication, changes in psychologist treatment for patient, and legal and
ethical issues. There are educational level and requirements that should be associated to
professional with rights to prescribe medication. If clinical psychologist were given the rights to

Providence was no longer the bustling hub that it used to be. The city never really recovered, it
now houses many of the lower middle class and minority communities. This type of implosions is
sometimes referred to as white flight, the white middle and upper class fled the city leaving the
lower classes to live in dissolving, disheveled neighborhoods . The Italian neighborhood, Federal
Hill, fell under the control of organized crime during this weakened economic window, this would
remain a prominent authority in Providence until the late 1990s. Today the tendrils of mobster
influence still can be seen but in a lesser degree than in the 1970s.
Politically, Providence was always a bit corrupted. It ran on a patronage system where a person
would scavenge and promote democratic voting and in return, the democrats would give the person
who gathered the votes a government job . This continued well into the twentieth century despite
the Pendleton Act of 1883 which stated that government jobs should be awarded based on the
potential employee s merit rather than their political affiliations or connection . The politics were
not clean, it was run by the Democratic machine which kept the city spiraling down by putting the
same ineffective politicians in charge.

Prenatal Genetic Testing Essay
Abstract
Prenatal genetic testing is an integral part of prenatal care. It provides pregnant women with

Some women don t start their prenatal care until the second trimester, so they might be offered
second trimester screening tests for their prenatal genetic screening. Second trimester screening is
normally done at week 15th 22nd of the pregnancy. The tests can correctly detect about 81 % of
fetuses with Down syndrome, about 80 % of fetuses with trisomy 18 and about 80 % of fetuses
with neural tube defects. When results from both first, if available, and second screening combine
together, about 87 % of fetuses with Down syndrome, 90 % with trisomy 18 and 80 % with neural
tube defects can be identified (Intermountain healthcare, 2014).
Thirdly, the prenatal diagnostic tests including amniocentesis and CVS are highly accurate ways
to check for genetic disorders (Intermountain healthcare, 2014). Both tests can confirm with 99 %
of accuracy if a fetus has a genetic disorder. Additionally, CVS can be done early between weeks
10th 13th of pregnancy to help confirm the presence of a genetic disorder. This again gives
expectant parents time to make decisions in regard to whether they should keep or terminate the
pregnancy and how to take care of their future baby with special needs if they decide to continue

Functions Of The Endocrine System
Unlike plants, humans require organs and systems to produce hormones. One of the major systems
we need is the endocrine system. The endocrine system is the collection of glands of an organism
which secrete hormones directly into the circulatory system, which then distributes the hormones to
specific organs. The main endocrine glands include the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, pineal gland,
thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, pancreas, gonads(testes, ovaries) and thymus.

transported to the posterior pituitary, where they are stored and later released.
The pituitary gland, also known as the hypophysis, is a small pea sized lump of tissue connected to
the inferior portion of the hypothalamus of the brain. Many blood vessels surround the pituitary
gland to carry the hormones it releases throughout the body. Situated in a small depression in the

structures: the posterior and anterior pituitary glands.
Posterior Pituitary: The posterior pituitary gland is actually not glandular tissue at all, but nervous

Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) is a treatment approach that has been found to
be effective in unilateral (hemiplegic) spastic cerebral palsy. It involves constraint of the less

slings are used to restrain the unaffected arm while the individual is encouraged to use the
impaired arm. The individual performs motor activities repetitively for up to 6 hours a day for 2

objects or fall down with their affected side. However, when the monkeys recovered, they
continued to not use their affected side. This phenomenon was called learned non use. Based on
this research, the basic principles of CIMT were established. Through CIMT, the behaviors of
learned non use are reversed by restraint of the unaffected side along with repetitive practice with
the impaired side. Children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy tend to develop motor skills that rely
primarily on the unaffected arm. Therefore, because of disuse, the impaired arm does not fully

Application Of Low Power Integrated Intelligent Sensors
2 Research Motivation and Significance Applications of low power integrated intelligent sensors
[1 8] have been prolific in recent years, including, for instance, in environmental observation [9
11], security surveillance [12, 13], infrastructure monitoring and communication [14 17], and
biomedical health care monitoring [18 21]. In particular, as the baby boomers approach retirement
age, medical expenses become significant. For example, in 2014, health care accounted for 28%
of US federal spending [22]. One major problem with current health care systems is that sensing
and processing medical data require significant resources. To alleviate this problem, wearable
medical devices [23 27] are expected to provide automatic monitoring and... Show more content on

The design challenges of the aforementioned intelligent sensors originate from their high density
circuits, especially DSP circuits performing multiply and accumulate (MAC), i.e., adders and
coefficient multipliers (DSP algorithms usually involve many MAC operations), which require
a large circuit area and high power consumption. This is one of the most critical problems in
integrated intelligent sensor design. For example, in [34] a seizure detector consumed more than
50% of the circuit area and power in a System on a Chip (SOC), even though an advanced lookup
table (LUT) method was applied, which saved more than 50% of the total gate count in the digital
п¬Ѓlters [35]. The power cost of the chip may require battery replacement every six hours, which
is not convenient or feasible for many patients. Essentially, the large circuit area and high power
consumption of MAC circuits limit system performance and raise chip costs. Medical applications
generally require higher resolution and higher reliability, which only exacerbates the problem. One
promising solution to the above challenges is Delta Sigma technology. A Delta Sigma Modulator
(DSM) converts an analog input signal to a 1 bit Delta Sigma modulated digital bit stream, as
shown in Fig. 2 (a). Compared with conventional multi bit binary systems, the Delta Sigma system
has several advantages: (1) a Delta Sigma bit stream can

A Raisin In The Sun Fate Vs Free Will Essay
In the texts, A Raisin in the Sun and Antigone, written by Lorraine Hansberry and Sophocles,
respectively, the lens of Fate vs. Free Will is exposed within the situations and dialogues in these
plays. However, to analyze these plays with this lens perspective, one must first recognize what
this lens pertains to. The lens of Fate vs. Free Willpertains to the perspective of analyzing events
in a story and deciding whether they occur due to a predetermined destiny, or rather, a choice
made by a character s own decision or free will. Some may argue, that no matter what, events
happen only out of one of these choices. Now in some opinions, that may hold some validity.
However, this can be proved otherwise. In A Raisin in the Sun, the Younger family, a lower class
black family in Chicago, awaits an insurance check, sent in commemoration of the late father of
Walter and Beneatha Younger, and the husband of Lena Younger. There coexist many views on
how to use the money, the prominent ones being Walter s aspiration of opening a liquor store, Lena
s aspiration of purchasing a house,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the perspective being taken here is that both fate and free will control these events. In
A Raisin in the Sun, the character, Walter, wants to open a liquor store with some of the money
obtained from the insurance check. This is an example of free will. In Antigone, Creon s close
family, Eurydice, Haemon and Antigone, all kill themselves because of Creon s harsh actions.
This is an example of fate. In these plays, examples of both fate and free will exist and prove that
both control the events that happen to these characters. Therefore, both fate and free will control
the events in A Raisin in the Sun and Antigone, as proved by the events that happen out of a
character s decision, the destined outcome, and the way the events progress based on fate and free

Issues of Illegal Immigration
Introduction Alabama is not necessarily known as a hotbed for illegal immigration issues, so the
news flew under the radar. Last year, the state enacted immigration reform of its own after tiring
of seeing politicians of all stripes kick the problem down the road. But here s the thing the reforms
worked. The state s unemployment rate fell 0.6%, and a lot of those new jobs that were created
were specifically attributed to companies hiring Americans after shedding their illegal workers
(Munro, 2011). So what is it about immigrationreform? Everybody knows that we need it. And on
many points, everybody agrees. Yet at the federal level, nothing seems to ever get done, leaving it
to the states to create an inherently inefficient system of patchwork laws. What we need is for
someone to take charge of this issue in the White House and in Congress it really does not matter
who and actually implement meaningful immigration reform.
Illegal immigration causes nothing but problems for America and for Americans. Illegal
immigrants undercut American workers for jobs. In many states they are eligible for various
forms of public assistance despite not paying taxes, and this happens even in conservative states
like Texas and Arizona (Ferrari, 2011). A patchwork of state laws is not going to address this issue
adequately, but merely push the problem around the country from one state to another. Reform is
needed at the federal level, as this is a problem that affects all states and all

A Report On The Marine Corps
A month after graduating high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In less than
a year after that, I found myself speeding in a Humvee on a dirt road in Habbiniyah, Iraq, just a
mile of the Euphrates River. Our mission was to assist a Marine Reconnaissance unit in securing
insurgent weapon caches. I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins, as I was ready to
tackle my first major op. My truck, along with another, responded to the recon unit when they
radioed for help to load a weapons cache. As we sped over to the site, an IED exploded and
ripped apart the engine of the following truck. The vehicle contained my squad leader, two
marines, and our squad s only medic. As a combat lifesaver (CLS), my secondary mission kicked
in. My instincts were to assess the casualties, triage, and treat the wounded. We were fortunate they
only suffered concussions, with the gunner having minor lacerations to the face. After dressing the
wound, a MEDEVAC was secured to transport them back to base. Within minutes of the helicopter
leaving, another explosion was heard where the cache was located. We rushed to the scene, only to
see a truck engulfed in flames. When I reached the casualty collection point, I was updated on what
occurred. The truck hit a landmine as they were backing onto the road, injuring everyone near the
vehicle. Most of the passengers got out, but one was unconscious and trapped inside. Much to my
dismay, the Marine was my team leader. I fought

DEFINITION Economic growth is a macroeconomic policy objective for countries. The growth of
economies have two meanings. First, economic growth means the gross domestic product (GDP)
increases within the given period of time. The increases in GDP also means the increase in the value
of national output or national expenditure. The other meaning is the increasing of production when
using all the scarce resources, which can be showed in the PPF(Production Possibility Frontier). In
the diagram below, the outward shift of the PPF shows that the productive capacity has increased in
the long run, with the determinant of the quantity and quality of land, labour, capital and enterprise.

Heparin In Central Venous Catheters
Heparin Flushes in Central Venous Catheters

Heparin Flushes in Central Venous Catheters
In reviewing Heparin flushes in Central Venous Catheters (CVCs); one must first understand the
importance of their placement. To properly investigate central venous catheter(CVC) care;
documentation will focus on Heparin flushes as it relates to renal care. The renal dialysis patient
undergoes CVC placement as a basis of receiving hemodialysis treatments. It is essentially the first
access point placed in preparation of a more permanent access point. Central venous catheters,
fistulas, and grafts are considered the lifeline of a dialysis patient. Their function and patency is of
the utmost importance to the morbidity and mortality rate of a renal patient. Venous catheters
generally develop a fibrin sheath at the tip, which evolve into a clot due to body s physiological
response to the vein injury and the foreign catheter 1 and subsequent catheter obstruction. (Journal
of Evolution of Medical and Dental Sciences, 2014, pg. 46).
In dialysis, blood is circulated through an extracorporeal circuit for long periods of time. During
this process the blood can begin to develop clot formations throughout the CVC, extracorporeal
circuit, and the dialyzer itself; which causes multiple complications for the dialysis patient. In order
to minimize or eliminate the

Analysis Of Hiroshima Exit By Joy Kogawa
Born in Vancouver, Canada, in 1935, Joy Kogawa is a Nisei second generation Japanese Canadian
and a celebrated poet. During World War 2, many Japanese Canadians, including Kogawa, were
evacuated and forced into the internment camps. Hiroshima Exit , one of Kogawa s poem ,
accentuates the devastation of the atomic bombing during the war. A Japanese Descendent visits
the Atomic Bomb Memorial Building where she witnesses the horror and destruction from the
Hiroshima bombing. It is clear that the war inflicted great destruction, and much damage was
attributed to past actions. Kogawa uses personification, conflicts, and symbolism to show that
instead of clinging onto the harsh past, one needs to have hope in order to create better prospect in
the future. Firstly, Kogawa uses personification to show the dreadful mood that takes place. When
the American tourists are blaming the Japanese, the words jingle down (Kogawa1). The meaning of
this personification is to examine the confusion of what is happening, which means that the
innocent civilians do not know what is happening or what they have done wrong. Also, when the

Kogawa s use of repetition emphasizes the important concept of ending a conflict before it
further escalates. In the first stanza, the speaker says: In round round rooms of our wanderings
(1). The repetition of the word round is associated with cyclical motion, which creates a sense of
endlessness. This is similar to the feeling of those in conflict, who feel like they fight a war with
no end; only constant retaliation. However, once leaving the building, the speaker reiterates
Believing, believing (27) which changes these feelings to hope. This implies the speaker s
realization of the possibility of a future unlike the past filled with peace. The only escape from this
endless cycle of retaliation is the ability to accept, forgive, and move

Anti War Movement Essay
Anti War Movement
During the year of 1965 the Vietnam War made an impact of negativity on the United States. Anti
war protests began to roar and break out in December of 1969 when the government held a draft
lottery where they would pull drafting cards to send men over to Vietnam to fight. Because so
many Americans were against the war it caused protesters to burn their drafting cards. While the
vietnam war lasted a little over 8 years, making it the 6th longest It had only been heard of for a
short time before that, started by students on college campuses.

That accord brought victory to the table for America and South vietnam. The United States decided
to back up the victory by making a pledge to provide the South Vietnam with any surplus they may
ever need to defend themselves against the North.
Unfortunately in the following year of 1974 Nixon resigned his years in office due to the
charges he knew that later would come against him. Because of Nixon resigning office, three
months later, during the November congressional elections, the democrats brought victory to the
new congress. The issue then was that the majority of the new members used their power to
defund the pledge we made to South Vietnam back in 73. Or course there were people fighting
this. President Ford gave a speech directly to congress, begging them to not rid of the promise we
made to South Vietnam. Many of the congress members left the room during the speech given by
the president. So many congress workers didn t support the Pledge because in earlier years many
of them were protesters against the war therefore, they wouldn t support the aid. Which in reality
caused more pain to South Vietnam when North vietnam invaded them once again, and we stayed
out, we went back on our word and the south was left to fend for themselves, which then landed
them in camps in the countryside where about 250,000 people

Compare And Contrast The Human Body In Ancient Egypt Art
Human Body Depiction in Ancient Egypt Ancient Greece
Throughout the years humans have had the tendency to record their daily lives and events. In
other words, the art of each era reflects the society and mentality of the civilians. This is why each
era has a different way of depicting the human body and how the story they tell is narrated. This
research paper will compare between the depiction of the human body in Ancient Egypt and Ancient
Greece. Ancient Egypt art was at the start of art history, which was between 3000 BC and 400 AD.
The Egyptians wanted to focus more on realism and narrating the story rather than showing the
exact details, they wanted everything to be clear and show what was happening in their daily lives
rather than show the positions, they didn t have deficiencies, they were more keen on portraying
the whole image. Meanwhile The Ancient Greek art had something equivalent to the Ancient
Egyptian art in the cultural part, where they both were obsessed with precision and order. They
believed their Gods took human form, that s why they always had this mentality of portraying the
human figure perfectly. They related perfection to the athletic ... Show more content on

the gods and the people. In stone statuary, limited positions, a strong back pillar for support, and
spaces left between limbs gave out the impression of how the stone statuary was quite closed.

FRIENDSHIP
According to Webster s dictionary, the state of being friends or the quality of being friendly is
defined as friendship and a person whom one knows, likes, trusts, and fond of is defined as a
friend . Friendship is a state of relationship which can be only experienced but cannot be
expressed. Loyalty, faithfulness, honesty, respect, and equality are the true characteristics of a trust
worthy friend. This lays the foundation for a long lasting relationship. It has no barriers or
discriminations of gender, age, financial status, creed and color. Life without a friend is not worth

faithful is the first and foremost quality, which lays foundation for true friendship. Even though you
stay together or apart, faithfulness is of high priority in any relationship.
A word of lie should never exist between friends and that defines honesty in friendship. Secrets
should be kept within and no thought of betrayal should ever come in the way. In friendship,
respect and equality go hand in hand. This can be attained by treating them as you want to be
treated. Furthermore, being supportive, making them feel valued, having a gratitude heart,

Deception, Lying, And Other Cases
In Element 1, I will present some cases where deception is thought to be lying, and other cases
where deception is not thought to be lying. I will contend that, when deception is lying, it is
immoral and I will give reasons for why this is the case. After my presentation, I will take a look at
some possible criticisms of my arguments and then answer those criticisms. Then, I will present my
conclusions.
In Element 2, I will contend that people for whatever reason choose to lie about things in order to
persuade others into thinking that the truth is on their side. Lying takes a group of actions or
words that are clearly false to the perpetrator to try to bait someone into thinking that it is truthful.
When deceptions are thought to be lies, it can be a very eerie situation because the person that
was lied to did not get complete or enough adequate information of what was told. Yes, what
someone said may have been truthful, but not all of the information was being told. The person
receiving the information is left without additional pieces to the story although he or she does not
know this, which makes the person assume that what you said was the end all be all to the
situation. These situations can likely equate to being a lie because of the information that was
omitted. Once the person finds out that pieces of information was left out or incomplete, they will
feel like they were lied to. Because the rest of the information or story was not fulfilled, the person

How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Animation In Persepolis
In the animation Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi uses color in the beginning of the animation
during her present day life and black and white for flashbacks or her past life. The majority of
the animation is the story of Marjane s life in the past so it is in mostly black and white. This is
an interesting way of using color because in a way color is used as a form of timeline, there are
parts of the animation that switch from present to past, so Satrapi just switches from black and
white to color to show time period. I find this concept very appealing and creative. are the growing
tensions of the political climate in Iranin the 70s and 80s, with members of her liberal leaning

Marjane grew up in Iran during the Iran/Iraq war in the 1970s which creates a layer of
complication in her life due to living in a war zone. As a child there was protest going on against

frustrated by the current events being war and violence. By taking us through her life starting the
flashback at childhood then though teen years we are able to learn about a personal experience
on being an Iranian woman during this time. I did not know that women in Iran during the post
war periods were treated so poorly by men in authority, I also did not know that alcohol was a
forbidden beverage. I learned a lot through this animation by understanding what Marjane went
through in her life. The content of Marjane s life as a teenager was very entertaining to watch.
Marjane went from being so restrained in Iran to smoking pot at punk concerts in Europe. When an
animator is honest in their work it is appealing and easy to watch; which is how I felt about this
animation. Satrapi did not hold back in language, emotion, and details throughout the story of this

4.Since England was still using the Trudgen stoke, Cavill s son Richard, destroyed his competition

  • 2. African American Teachers An American psychiatrist by the name of William Glasser once stated, When you study great teachers...you will learn much more from their caring and hard work than from their style. Teachers are a huge part of an individual s life. From the time a person enters into preschool until the complete cessation of their educational career, the teachers and professors along the way each influence that student s perspective and feeling towards the particular subject they taught. With daily interactions, teachers become a part of a student s microsystem. They are often times the only other constant adult figure in their student s life apart from the caregiver. Whether it is acknowledged or not, the importance of teacher cannot be overstated. Unfortunately,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first thing you might notice about Liberia is its African heritage. Liberia was not only founded but also colonized but freed African slaves. It is also known fact that the people are very friendly in Liberia. The culture of Liberia is amazing; some people still carve out African figurines. This country has fought a long way for its freedom. That s why it is a wonderful land of liberty! This nation needs to be recognized and you will agree that Liberia needs to be visited at least once. • 7. The Uniqueness Of The Kodaly Method Chapter One The Uniqueness of the Kodaly Method Zoltan Kodaly chose a child developmental approach when developing his method. This approach teaches skills in the order and pace in which the child develops rather than subject logic. In a subject logic approach there is no relationship between the order of presentation and the order in which children learn easily. The subject matter is simply organized in a fashion that seems reasonable in terms of content. The subject logic approach rhythmically begins with the whole note and progresses in a manner that is mathematically reasonable, proceeding next to the half note and then to the quarter note. This progression is, however, very difficult for a beginning student who has not yet even learned how to feel a basic beat. Melodically speaking, the diatonic major scale is the general starting point from a subject logic approach. This also causes issues because the average young child cannot accurately sing a diatonic major scale. According to research, most children are able to sing a range of only five or six tones and cannot produce half steps in tune. Unlike the subject logic approach, the child development approach of the Kodaly method requires arranging subject matter into patterns that align with the sequence of normal child abilities at various stages of growth. Rhythmically speaking, moving rhythms are more child related than sustained rhythms. Children can relate a rhythm such as steady beat quarter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Hazards Of Space Travel For The Human Body Conrad Dudziak Erika Harnett ESS 102 AC 20 October 2015 The Hazards of Space Travel for the Human Body In the year 2042, aerospace engineers continue to struggle with the challenge of a manned mission to mars. Biomedical complications disrupt any advancements in the effort, as astronaut safety is considered the most fundamental aspect of a successful mission. In order to study the effects of weightlessness and radiation in a deep space environment, NASA launches a government funded space station into high earth orbit. The astronaut s medical health is studied over a six month period, as their bodies adapt to the low gravity environment and radiation becomes a crucial concern. An astronaut must maintain peak physical health to ideally preform and adapt to a space environment. In order to minimize the extent of medical concerns, strict medical standards are established to guarantee the correct crew for the mission. Designed by surgeons and experts in aerospace medicine, the regulations mirrored those of the U.S Air force. Extensive consideration is taken in the categories of blood pressure, radiation exposure, hearing, dental health, and precise body composition. Annual medical certification examinations are conducted by flight medicine physicians. These exams insure that the crew is not only fit for space flight, but also for training. Crew members are given a supporting exam at launch, as well as two days after landing (Risin). The information found in these last minute exams is used to analyze the effects of space travel on the astronauts. Only 7 missions in American history included biomedical objectives as a goal amongst each operations highest priorities. As of May 1961 to May 1963, Project Mercury was conducted to assess the ability for man to survive in an environment outside of earth. The endeavor completed four orbital missions and two sub orbital flights, the longest of which lasted 34 hours. Although the returning health conditions of the astronauts ... (Blackman, 2000) * Non REM sleep Non REM sleep is a much deeper, more restful kind of sleep. In non REM sleep, the person s body is free to move around. Non REM dreams are more likely to consist of brief, fragmentary impressions that are less emotional and less likely to involve visual images than REM sleep dreams and are more frequently forgotten. The period of Non REM sleep is made up of four stages. Each stage can last from 5 to 15 minutes. A completed cycle of sleep consists of a progression from stages 1 4 before REM sleep is attained, then the cycle starts over again. People begin the sleep cycle with a period of non REM sleep followed by a very short period of REM sleep (Chang, 2010). A machine called an electroencephalograph (EEG) allows scientists to see the brain wave activity as a person passes through the various stages of sleep to determine what type of sleep the person has entered ( Aserinsky amp; Kleitman, 1953). A person who is wide awake and mentally active will show a brain wave pattern on the EEG called beta waves. Beta waves are small and fast. As the person relaxes and gets drowsy, slightly larger and slower alpha waves appear. The alpha waves are eventually replaced by even slower and larger theta waves. The Constitution and the Separation of Powers One of the earliest ideas of separating powers came in the 1600 s and is evidenced by the idea that the parliament then is what we would consider today as being the Legislative branch of government since it was in charge of taxes. To be a king in those days would be similar to the Executive branch, as the king conducted wars and enforced the law. However, credit is often given to Baron de Montesquieu, a French philosopher. According to the authors of our text book, John Locke initially desired there to be to branches of government, a legislative branch to create the laws and an executivebranch to enforce the laws. Montesquieu then supplemented Locke s idea by adding a judiciarybranch to resolve conflicts that the two branches by incur. When written, the Constitution laid out the basis for the separation of powers. In order to prevent any one branch of having complete control and power, each of the branches of government has certain powers and responsibilities in order to keep each other from exerting too much power. This is known as checks and balances. The first branch of government we will be looking at is the legislative branch. The legislative branch of government is responsible for making and passing laws and is more commonly known as Congress. Keeping in the nature of checks and balances, Congress has been granted certain powers to make sure that the judiciary branch and the executive branches do not abuse their power. The endocrine system is the collection of glands of an organism which secrete hormones directly into the circulatory system, which then distributes the hormones to specific organs. The main endocrine glands include the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, pineal gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, pancreas, gonads(testes, ovaries) and thymus. (GnRH) stimulates the release of follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone while (CRH) stimulates the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone. The last two hormones oxytocin and antidiuretic hormone are produced by the hypothalamus and transported to the posterior pituitary, where they are stored and later released. The pituitary gland, also known as the hypophysis, is a small pea sized lump of tissue connected to the inferior portion of the hypothalamus of the brain. Many blood vessels surround the pituitary gland to carry the hormones it releases throughout the body. Situated in a small depression in the sphenoid bone called the sella turcica, the pituitary gland is actually made of 2 completely separate structures: the posterior and anterior pituitary glands. Posterior Pituitary: The posterior pituitary gland is actually not glandular tissue at all, but nervous tissue instead. This influenced the way the book was written. In the first two chapters of Hard Times, Dickens attitudes to education are presented. There is an immediate tension between Dickens way of thinking and Gradgrind s and M Choakumchild s. Gradgrind and M Choakumchild call the children vessels and do not use names but numbers. M Choakumchild is introduced later in the second chapter; he is one of the one hundred and forty schoolmasters. Instead of the way he looked being described, like Gradgrind, his intelligence was described. The subjects and skills that he studied and has knowledge about were listed, e.g. biography , algebra and vocal music . M Choakumchild knows a lot about these subjects because they are full of facts and imagination is not really needed to know about them. He believes that fact is all that the children need to know and like Gradgrind does not believe in freethinking. M Chockumchild is the one who will teach the children how to be like in school life and social life. Gradgrind and M Choakumchild are presented as plain people who do not like change. They have only one straight forward idea of how the education system should be. They both see children as empty vessels and believe that they should be seen and not heard. Constraint Induced Movement Therapy Essay Occupational Therapy Interventions Constraint Induced Movement Therapy Modified Constraint Induced Movement Therapy Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) is a treatment approach that has been found to be effective in unilateral (hemiplegic) spastic cerebral palsy. Casts, splints, and slings are used to restrain the unaffected arm while the individual is encouraged to use the impaired arm. This phenomenon was called learned non use. Based on this research, the basic principles of CIMT were established. Through CIMT, the behaviors of learned non use are reversed by restraint of the unaffected side along with repetitive practice with the impaired side. Children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy tend to develop motor skills that rely primarily on the unaffected arm. Therefore, because of disuse, the impaired arm does not fully develop. Application Of Low Power Integrated Intelligent Sensors 2 Research Motivation and Significance Applications of low power integrated intelligent sensors [1 8] have been prolific in recent years, including, for instance, in environmental observation [9 11], security surveillance [12, 13], infrastructure monitoring and communication [14 17], and biomedical health care monitoring [18 21]. In particular, as the baby boomers approach retirement age, medical expenses become significant. For example, in 2014, health care accounted for 28% of US federal spending [22]. One major problem with current health care systems is that sensing and processing medical data require significant resources. To alleviate this problem, wearable medical devices [23 27] are expected to provide automatic monitoring and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The design challenges of the aforementioned intelligent sensors originate from their high density circuits, especially DSP circuits performing multiply and accumulate (MAC), i.e., adders and coefficient multipliers (DSP algorithms usually involve many MAC operations), which require a large circuit area and high power consumption. This is one of the most critical problems in integrated intelligent sensor design. For example, in [34] a seizure detector consumed more than 50% of the circuit area and power in a System on a Chip (SOC), even though an advanced lookup table (LUT) method was applied, which saved more than 50% of the total gate count in the digital filters [35]. The power cost of the chip may require battery replacement every six hours, which is not convenient or feasible for many patients. Essentially, the large circuit area and high power consumption of MAC circuits limit system performance and raise chip costs. Medical applications generally require higher resolution and higher reliability, which only exacerbates the problem. One promising solution to the above challenges is Delta Sigma technology. A Delta Sigma Modulator (DSM) converts an analog input signal to a 1 bit Delta Sigma modulated digital bit stream, as shown in Fig. 2 (a). A Raisin In The Sun Fate Vs Free Will Essay In the texts, A Raisin in the Sun and Antigone, written by Lorraine Hansberry and Sophocles, respectively, the lens of Fate vs. Free Will is exposed within the situations and dialogues in these plays. However, to analyze these plays with this lens perspective, one must first recognize what this lens pertains to. The lens of Fate vs. Free Willpertains to the perspective of analyzing events in a story and deciding whether they occur due to a predetermined destiny, or rather, a choice made by a character s own decision or free will. Some may argue, that no matter what, events happen only out of one of these choices. Now in some opinions, that may hold some validity. However, this can be proved otherwise. In A Raisin in the Sun, the Younger family, a lower class black family in Chicago, awaits an insurance check, sent in commemoration of the late father of Walter and Beneatha Younger, and the husband of Lena Younger. There coexist many views on how to use the money, the prominent ones being Walter s aspiration of opening a liquor store, Lena s aspiration of purchasing a house,... In these plays, examples of both fate and free will exist and prove that both control the events that happen to these characters. Last year, the state enacted immigration reform of its own after tiring of seeing politicians of all stripes kick the problem down the road. But here s the thing the reforms worked. The state s unemployment rate fell 0.6%, and a lot of those new jobs that were created were specifically attributed to companies hiring Americans after shedding their illegal workers (Munro, 2011). So what is it about immigrationreform? Everybody knows that we need it. And on many points, everybody agrees. Yet at the federal level, nothing seems to ever get done, leaving it to the states to create an inherently inefficient system of patchwork laws. What we need is for someone to take charge of this issue in the White House and in Congress it really does not matter who and actually implement meaningful immigration reform. Illegal immigration causes nothing but problems for America and for Americans. Illegal immigrants undercut American workers for jobs. In many states they are eligible for various forms of public assistance despite not paying taxes, and this happens even in conservative states like Texas and Arizona (Ferrari, 2011). During World War 2, many Japanese Canadians, including Kogawa, were evacuated and forced into the internment camps. Hiroshima Exit , one of Kogawa s poem , accentuates the devastation of the atomic bombing during the war. A Japanese Descendent visits the Atomic Bomb Memorial Building where she witnesses the horror and destruction from the Hiroshima bombing. It is clear that the war inflicted great destruction, and much damage was attributed to past actions. Kogawa uses personification, conflicts, and symbolism to show that instead of clinging onto the harsh past, one needs to have hope in order to create better prospect in the future. Firstly, Kogawa uses personification to show the dreadful mood that takes place. When the American tourists are blaming the Japanese, the words jingle down (Kogawa1).
