The taiga biome is located in northern parts of North America and northern Eurasia. It has long, cold winters where temperatures can drop below -7°C and short, mild summers around 21°C. The soil of the taiga is thin, acidic, rocky, and low in nutrients. Plant life includes pine trees, giant sequoias, mosses, and lichens. Animal life includes Amur tigers, snowshoe hares, porcupines, elk, and bobcats, though population densities are generally low due to the harsh climate.
