Pinochet Human Rights Violations
The rule of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet Ugarte is one of much controversy. After leading a
military coup backed by the United States of America to usurp democratically elected socialist
president Salvador Allende, Pinochet served as dictator from 1973 to 1990. Once in power, the Junta,
or joint military commission that was tasked with running new Chile and headed by Pinochet, banned
all left leaning political parties (don Quijote), and reversed Allende s leftist policies, lowering inflation
and causing an economic boom (Britannica). Under his regime, Pinochet is responsible for at least
35,000 human rights violations, including 28,000 tortures, 2,279 executions, and 1,248 missing
people, as well as 200,000 citizens (about 2 percent of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new administration, led by President Patrizio Aylwin, was unable to investigate human rights
violations and economic crimes due to the Constitutional Tribunal upholding a law that restricted any
new government from investigating any actions taken by the military government since it took power
in 1973 (UPI Archive). This meant those that suffered under Pinochet s rule were unable to seek
retribution and were left only to dwell on his cruelty (NPR). There were mixed feelings in the country
regarding whether or not to punish him. While some people demanded he be punished, others argued
that he should be praised. Fernando Alessandri, a Chilean political figure, claims that The Pinochet
regime has many mistakes, very serious mistakes, but these are mistakes that should always be kept in
perspective. , also stating that His biggest legacy will be that he opened the country s economy to the
world, and brought the world to the country (NPR). Eventually, Pinochet did face judgement. While in
London on a medical visit, he was extradited to Spain after the Spanish court system found him
connected to the torture of Spanish citizens in Chile during his former

Hadrian s Campaign Essay
Hadrian was born in Rome on Jan. 2, 76. The event of him becoming the new emperor of
Rome raised quite a bit of suspicion. It is said that his uncle, the previous ruler, adopted Hadrian while
on his death bed. There is some suspicion about this because all the other potential heirs for the
position were all mysteriously killed leaving Hadrian to take the throne. After his uncle died, Hadrian
took over as the new emperor of Rome.
During the time Hadrian took his place as a royal, Rome was involved in the Parthian
War. This war was between many parties fighting for Parthian. Hadrian, however, decided to take his
army out of the war and back out completely. During the war, many people were killed.

Hadrian focused so much on the defensive side of things, that he solders training was becoming
unnecessary, and the efficiency of the armies started to decline. One of Hadrian s famous creations
was the Hadrian Wall. This was the defense barrier he built on the border between England and
Scotland.
Another significant event that took place during Hadrian s reign was a religious outbreak.
During his rule, Hadrian decided to restore Jerusalem. Through the process of restoring this lad he
built a temple to Jupiter. Jupiter, also known as Zeus, is the Roman god of the sky. Now this would
have been fine, but Hadrian chose to build this temple exactly where the Jewish temple once stood.
This is the reason for the Jewish outbreak. The Jewish outbreak lasted for three and a half years with
more than half a million people dead.
Overall Hadrian did not have much class when running the Roman empire. He started off rough with a
sketchy coronation. Then, once he took control chose to pull back his military forces completely
which seems a little coward like. Finally, the fact that he built a temple

Annotated Bibliography On Menelaus
Annotated Bibliography Menelaus was a king of Sparta in ancient Greek mythology and was married
to Helen. His immediate family members were his parents Atreus and Aerope, and his brother
Agamemnon who was ruler of the city of Mycenae. Menaleus was one of the main characters in the
Trojan War. When Menelaus and Agamemnon were children, their father, Atreus battled with his
brother, their Uncle, Thyestes. Atrius and Thyestes could not agree about who would be the king of the
city of Mycenae. In the end, Thyestes materialized victorious. Thyestes son, Aegisthus, helped him by

Later, during the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, Eris the goddess of strife, was angry for not being

Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena had a squabble over who should get the apple. They asked the Prince,
Paris of Troy, to be the judge. The three goddesses offered him glorious gifts, but in the end Paris of
Troy gave the apple to Aphrodite. Helen had promised the Prince the most beautiful woman in the
world. Aphrodite helped him kidnap Helen. Menelaus was enraged by this and conjured the oath that
had been taken by all the suitors of Helen. Helped by his brother Agamemnon, the two set a course for
Troy. The departure of Menaleus and his brother set off a chain of events, including commissioning
the help of Odysseus, which led to the fall of Troy. At the end of the war, Menelaus initially wanted to

Haiti Cholera Earthquake
In the fall of 2010 Haiti experienced a devastating 7.2 earthquake and, as if that were not enough, in
October 2010 a cholera epidemic was introduced into the mix. By January 2011 the epidemic
managed to kill at least 4,000 people and infect over 200,000 (Cholera in Haiti). Haiti is still reeling
from the aftermath of the epidemic and many are still at risk of contracting the disease.
The main public health problem Haiti is facing now is how can it provide protection from the disease
and prevent further epidemics from occurring? As a developing country it is difficult to produce the
funds necessary for treatment and prevention that are readily available in other parts of the world.
Expunging certain practices from its communities also poses a challenge because the ... Show more

Cholera has not been a problem in Haiti for at least a century so its reintroduction into the population
was a matter of great dispute. The isolated strain appeared to be similar to cholera strains of South
Asian origin leading scientists to believe that the strain was imported.
The United Nations has claimed some responsibility for bringing about the epidemic as cases of
cholera started appearing near the camp of Nepalese UN peacekeepers, almost immediately after their
arrival to aid in the aftermath of the earthquake (Piarroux). These reports have caused political and
social upheaval as many protested the presence of the UN and the Nepalese in Haiti and demanded
they pay reparations for the damage that has been caused (Cholera in Haiti). The UN has been
reluctant to concede to these demands since it would open the door for other countries to sue the
United Nations so Haiti was forced to fund disaster relief themselves, for the most part, which is
devastating for a country of low socioeconomic

Why Are The Mongols Barbaric
Despite however civilized some thought the Mongols were, they were barbaric for three distinct
reasons: they used psychological warfare to manipulate the minds of their enemies; even worse, they
caused mass destruction to many cities/countries in the Eastern Hemisphere during leader Genghis
Khan s rule; however, most catastrophic of all, they killed about 40 million people throughout their
reign (Andrei). According to the online dictionary, barbaric can be defined as savagely cruel and/or
exceedingly brutal. If destroying innocent people s homes and killing tens of millions of people is not
barbaric, nothing is. The Mongols use of psychological warfare was just barbaric evil to say the least.
They used this method of warfare to eliminate enemies, make people loyal to them, and to inspire fear
among non Mongols. For example, when the Tartars, a rival clan of the ... Show more content on

Charlotte Perkins Gilman Gender Equality
Overall, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, a visionary for gender equality, manage to bring awareness about
social inequalities by narrating and incorporating her personal experiences in The Yellow Wallpaper.
Gilman s work in The Yellow Wallpaper and other works depicted her afflictions and frustrations.
These literary devices provided women in the early 1900s the ability to speak out about women s role
in society and women s social condition. Women in the Victorian era considerably unsuitable due to a
variety of causes, such as postpartum, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, neurasthenia and other mental

other women to come out of the shadow. Strong females, such as Charlotte Perkins, Kate Chopin and

Themes In Clybourne Park And Water By The Spoonful
Themes are one of the most vital and critical elements of a play s overall significance and meaning.
Without identifying what tools a playwright uses to construct his/her play through a close reading,
such as language, character, or setting, the audience would lack a clear vision of the particular play s
meaning. In the case of Clybourne Park, by Bruce Norris, and Water by the Spoonful, by Quiara
Alegria Hudes, race can be identified as a theme in both, through the use of literary devices, however
it is explored much more subtly in Water by the Spoonful. Race is the major underlying theme in
Clybourne Park, while the themes of community and addiction are dealt with in Water by the
Spoonful. Nevertheless, each play is complete with examples ... Show more content on

Karl s language in this quote, as in the previous, shows his character believes the black race should be
separate from the white community, as he feels they are not equal. He reiterates this when he
ignorantly says, ... fitting into a community is really what it all comes down to (64). Karl s character
evidently proves the theme of race. Here the audience receives a reference to the theme of community.
With the racism of the 1950 s comes the clear divide between the white and black community,
however, the sense that there is still a divide remains in 2009, in the second act.
The racism continues with another white male character, Jim, who pressures black housekeeper,
Francine into admitting that her family and herself would not fit in or feel comfortable living in a
white community. Jim asks, Would this be the sort of neighborhood you d find an attractive place in
which to live? (70). Francine avoids confrontation and simply states, It s a very nice neighborhood
(70). Her use of language is polite, as she does not want to start an argument. Instead of admitting they
would not fit into such a community, as Jim was probing her to admit, she remains calm. Francine
even agrees that there are differences between the two races, and that they live differently, saying in
reply to Jim, I agree with that (73). Rather, Francine may just be giving Jim the answer he wants. She
knows that if she opposes his opinion, she will gain nothing.

Introduction According to the U.S. Department of Education, autism is defined as a disorder of neural
development characterized by impaired social interactions and verbal and nonverbal communication.
Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may also display attention deficits, engage in
repetitive behaviors, resist environmental changes, have unusual sensory experiences, and may exhibit
inappropriate behaviors that have adverse impacts on educational performance (Delano, 2007). The

He also determined that individuals are more likely to imitate the behavior of those they perceive as
competent and similar to themselves. Consistent with Bandura s social learning theory, video
modeling is a versatile intervention that capitalizes on the potency of observational learning and
because most individuals with ASD do not engage in incidental learning to instinctively gather
information from their environment, the principles of the social learning theory successfully contribute
to the effectiveness of video modeling (Aspy Grossman, 2007).
Video modeling is a promising behavioral technique that falls under the category of assistive
technology. It is thought to be a beneficial learning tool because it combines the power of
observational learning, also known as modeling, with the apparent tendency of individuals with ASD
to be particularly responsive to visually cued instruction. Video modeling is a procedure of
videotaping targeted behaviors in order to expand the learner s capability to memorize, imitate, and
generalize or adapt targeted behaviors (Neumann, 2004). Over the last three decades, the research has
shown success when video modeling is used for teaching individuals with ASD a variety of social,
academic, functional, and recently vocational skills. However, little research has been conducted on
using video modeling to teach behavior expectations during whole group learning. The purpose of this

Wilson s State Department In Russia Research Paper

For my first Intercultural Awareness activity, I chose to listen to the BBC World Report every day for

day, culminating in 7 hours of intercultural awareness. Because of the lengths of the podcasts, I chose

I listened to the 1st podcast September 7, 2016. It was on an issue that has risen in Ukraine between
two orthodox churches, the Ukrainian Orthodox church of Moscow and the Ukrainian Orthodox
church of Kiev. In a small village in Ukraine called Pticha had the members of the UOM barricade
themselves into their church, forcing those who were associated with the UOK to worship off of the

between Russia and Ukraine. The leaders of the Ukrainian church of Moscow believes that the
members of the church of Kiev are being too political. They say this because the members of the
church of Kiev are saying that those involved in the Moscow church are not true patriots of Ukraine.
The reporter asked one of the leaders of the church of Moscow if Russia was pressuring them in any
of their actions against the church of Kiev. The leader said that Ukrainian orthodox church is

The Film The Princess Bride
The film The Princess Bride can be associated with many different genres. The story expresses many
different genre elements, such as romance, action, and a comedy. Even though the movie shows all of
these characteristics, I believe the movie should be mainly characterized as a fairytale. The film shares
many characteristics with fairytale and fantasy movies, which I will list and discuss. I will be taking a
closer look at the movie, and show how it compares to other fantasy and fairytale movies.
One of the most obvious example of the movie being the fairy tale, is the involvement of royalty in the
story. One of the main characters in the story, is Buttercup, who is a princess. Buttercup is a princess
all the way through the film, and almost becomes a queen. Another main character is Prince

The main way magic is invoked is with Miracle Max, who used to work for the King. When presented
with the almost dead Westley, he brings him back from the point of death using magic. This is one of
the only times magic is used in the story. There are some other magic elements such as giants, and
witches.
The film s ending contains one that is familiar to many fairy tales. In the final battle, everyone collides
and battles it out. Indigo fights the man who killed his father in a long duel, and eventually comes out
victorious. Buttercup and Westley meet Prince Humperdinck in the castle, and Westley defeats him.
After Westley s victory, him and Buttercup decide to let Humperdinck go. After the battle in the castle,
the main conflicts in the story are solved. After the battle ends, they all meet up and ride into the
sunset. This ending is alike to fairy tales in numerous ways.

Jane Austen opens his novel Northanger Abbey (1818) by describing the character of Catherine
Morland. Austen takes use in literary devices such as descriptive and honest word choice, also the use
of a calming tone when expressing the traits of Catherine Morland, how she is in fact a free spirited
girl, lives a simple life, yet empowers to shine as a heroine.
Jane Austen begins his passage to his novel by creating an honest and nonjudgemental tone when
explaining the reality of Catherine Morland s simplistic life, and simple parents. Austen states, No one
who had ever seen Catherine Morland in her infancy would have supposed her born to be a heroine ,
Austen sets the tone honestly that Catherine is the opposite of a heroine, yet hints to the reader that she
eventually does grow to become someone of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Austen continues to states all the reasons and characteristics of Catherine Morland, and why others
would never consider her to become someone of heroic qualities. Austen opens his passage up with his
proposal on why Catherine Morland is the opposite of a heroine, to smoothly ease into the rest of his
passage on describing her normal and simplistic life.
Austen now introduces the reader into the lifestyle of Catherine Morland, and how her years have
been spent quite different than the made assumption of a heroine. Austen decides on word choice to
describe Catherine and her parents, to the complete opposite of what the average hero would be
described as. Austen selects his word choice as, for they [the Morland s] were very plain , She had a
thin awkward figure, sallow skin without colour, dark lank hair . The way Austen chooses to describe
Catherine is not the common strong, muscular, genius, life changing, hero you hear about on an
everyday basis. The image given by Austen on Catherine s appearance is carefully chosen to remain in

Road Not Taken Tone
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost relays the message that in life we, as the readers of the poem,
have many decisions to make and how we choose to make those decisions, rules our future. The Road
Not Taken is a metaphor for real life and in real life there are important decisions which, in some
instances, can cause immense change. The symbolism in The Road Not Taken is the two paths which
represent the life of a traveler and all his life decisions. In Frost s poem, the reader comes to realize
that life is a combination of decisions, consequences and fate. The author s tone in the poem plays an
immense part in helping the reader understand the poem. Throughout the poem we learn that there are
two paths to take and the traveler is uncertain about which to choose. Moreover, we learn that
choosing the path is actually a life decision and not just a choice between two roads diverging in the
autumn woods. Towards the end of the poem, Frost s tone changes to regret, Frost was once said about
The Road Not Taken, No matter which road you take, you ll always sigh, and wish you d taken
another way. Robert Frost s change of tone throughout the poem helps the reader fathom what the
author is trying to say. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

poem speaks of the actual choices in life as roads one must choose to take. Metaphorically, the roads
exemplify choices in life. At first, you would not expect that the roads were relevant until it becomes
clear that the roads actually symbolize his life decision. Nevertheless, the usage of symbolism in this
poem is what leads you into understanding what he s trying to say. By the end of the poem, we have
learned that there is difficulty when making choices and frequently, you need to let fate take the

The Importance Of Listening And Recommend Best Practices
Evaluate the Importance of Listening to Recommend Best Practices I. What is a Leader: You may
have heard the question of where do leaders come from. The answer to this question is perhaps vague
and it seem to be a more difficult question than most may think. From a topic of vagueness comes a
variety of answers. However, the best thing about it, all the answers could possibly be correct. Leaders
are perhaps uncovered at many different levels and situations (Simmons, 2011). However, leaders in
many organizations lead when forced into the spotlight and find out they are not equipped to function
effectively. Becoming a leader can be as simple as leading a small team, a group or a community
organization (Jennings, 2012). The truth of the matter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scanlans difficulty to be effective was not because he did not possess the ability to listen but he
allowed bias of a situation to selectively, not hear what his peers were trying to convey. Scanlan
(2011) goes on to say that, people are confused about listening most of the time. Moreover, the
confusion prevents the focus and distorts the direction as well as vision. In today s business,
environments where individuals are more concerned with the level of multitasking and listening
becomes necessary only when someone requests. However, one does not have to be a manager of the
organization to understand the importance of listening. Perhaps even in a family one could attest that
listening is perhaps one of the most difficult aspects of making decisions effectively (Scanlan, 2011).
III. Passive Listening You may be familiar with passive listening, passive listening is where an is

number of times you have slipped into this passive state of attention it seems as if you are actively
listening to a conversation but truly, there are other things happening that seem to be more worthy of
your attention (Jennings, 2012; Scanlan, 2011). For example, have you ever had to sit through a board

What Is The Summer Trip Essay
Summer Trips Another feature of life in Rome was the summer trip. Each of us could travel for a
month during summer vacation, but if a member of one s family came over, we could travel longer, six
weeks or even two months. There were also some established itineraries. One was the shrine run and
another was the beer run. My first summer, the summer of 1957, I traveled with Victor Galeone and
Ralph Platz on the shrine run. We flew to Barcelona on an inexpensive student flight, did some
sightseeing there which included a one day pilgrimage to the Benedictine monastery at Monserrat
which is associated with St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). From
Barcelona we flew to Madrid near which there were many places of interest to us, e.g. Toledo, El

Nuture Nature Vs Nurture
TWINS AND THE NATURE NURTURE OF INTELLIGENCE: Intelligence is defined by
psychologists as the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex
ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience (Dr. C. George Boeree 2003). It is an interesting aspect
of the human being that psychologists try to understand in terms of the various factors that influence
it. The variation in the level of intelligence in human beings is scored using the IQ. It is evaluated
across a spectrum of perspectives ranging from biological, psychoanalysis, cognitive psychology,
humanism and behaviorism. But the most debated is how nature and nurture influence intelligence.
Nature follows with a biological approach focusing on genetic, hormonal and neuro chemical
explanations of behavior that are acquired, while nurture focuses on all behavior learnt from the
environment through conditioning. Nature is what we think of as pre wiring and is influenced by
genetic inheritance and other biological factors. Nurture is generally taken as the influence of external
factors after conception e.g. the product of exposure, experience and learning on an individual (Saul
McLeod , 2007). How nature or nurture influence intelligence or which of them is more influential, is
highly studied psychologists. Such studies have been attempted by using twins by isolating from their
siblings, and evaluating whether genetic or environmental factors has influence on their intelligence.
In their use, identical (monozygote) twins are separated and made to grow in different environmental
conditions such as socioeconomic status, parents behavior, alcoholism, criminal behavior, emotional
adaptation and nutrition while non identical twins are used as controls. This is done by testing their
IQ. (Nature vs Nurture in Intelligence, 2005) The influence of nature on genetic is easily studied using
heritability or traits that are considered inherited, including intelligence. Psychologists try to compare
the influence of heritability and the environment by taking advantage of the idea that monozygotic
twins share 100 percent of their genes while dizygotic twins share 50 percent. Consequently identical
twins are expected to display the same

How Did Greek Architecture Influence Roman Architecture
Roman Architecture
The Greek and Roman empires existed during the same time, which was about 2500 years ago. They
were practically neighbors with Rome developing in Italy and the Greeks in Greece. The the Romans
learned about Greek culture when Greek colonies established towns in southern Italy. The Romans
were influenced by Greek writing, art, religion, and architecture. Greek architecture had an influence
on the development of Ancient Rome because the Romans used Greek materials, Greek designs and
the Romans built similar structures. First,Greek architecture did influence on the development of
Ancient Rome because they used Greek materials such as concrete, lime mortar, and stone. Like the
Greeks, the Romans built enormous structures and concrete was able to support greater weights. The
lime mortar was used to make the concrete and this made the concrete stronger.( Roman Architecture.

Matthew And John Essay
The Gospels (literally, good news ) encompass the Synoptics (Matthew, Mark, Luke) and John). In the
Gospels of Matthew and John, Jesus is revealed; Jesus reveals God (John 1:18; Matt 11:27); and God
speaks finally (Heb 1:1 4). While Matthew presented a narration on the temptation of Jesus, his
transfiguration, and the institution of the Lord s Supper, John was silent on those materials. John
mentions no examples of Jesus casting out demons. While Matthew focuses on the genealogy of Jesus,
John establishes the deity of Jesus. The Sermon on the Mount and the Lord s Prayer are not found in
John s Gospel. Matthew is the only Gospel writer who speaks directly of the church (Matthew16: 18;

But one day, Israel will be restored to its place of blessing (Rom. 11:25 27; 15:8, 9). One of the
purposes of Matthew is to instruct the church. An obvious clue to this is in the Great Commission:
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you (28:20). The discipling process
involves instruction in the words of Christ, and the Gospel of Matthew revolves around five of Jesus
discourses (5:1 7:28; 10:5 11:1; 13:3 53; 18:2 19:1; 24:4 26:1). Instead of emphasizing a narrative of
Jesus life as Mark does, Matthew uses the narrative elements in his Gospel as a setting for Jesus
sermons.
The Gospel of John is a persuasive argument for the deity of Jesus. It concentrates on presenting Jesus
as the Word (Logos), that is, God (1:1) who became a man (1:14). Thus John meticulously records the
statements and describes the miracles of Jesus that can only be attributed to God Himself. Jesus called
Himself the bread of life (6:35, 41, 48, 51), the light of the world (8:12; 9:5), the door for the sheep
(10:7, 9), the good shepherd (10:11, 14), the resurrection and the life (11:25), the way, the truth, the
life (14:6), and the true vine (15:1, 5). Each of these statements begins with the words, I am, recalling

Prescribed Pasture Burning
Fire! Most people are alarmed with that word. But fire is a major factor in allowing the grasslands to
exist. Native Americans used to burn prairies to get rid of all of the dead grass and allow the new grass
to grow for the bison to eat. Burning off grasslands in the spring permits the grass to grow without
being restricted by the old, dead grass. Fire also kills the parasites and flies that bother the cattle in the
summer. Invasive cedar trees overtake grasses and starve out good native grasses. Other methods can
be used to combat them but fire is the quickest and most efficient. While pasture burning may seem
harmful to some, it s an essential way to keep our grasslands and prairies in working order. Native

Theology of Atonement and Salvation
The view and understanding of atonement is one of the widest in Christian theology. Unlike the
dogmas that define the theology of trinity and incarnation and bring unity to Christian understanding,
the theology of atonement has many different views that are widely held. The theology of atonement
is one of the most important for Christians to understand, as it shapes our images of God, our
understanding of salvation and how we are saved.
In this essay, I will be looking at different theories of atonement and how they make a difference to
our theology of salvation. I will argue that different understandings and theories of atonement affect

The subjective theories emphasise the effect of the cross and atonement on the believers and their
response. This means that an emphasis on Christ s death on the cross and it being an example
for/influence on humanity is classed as subjective theories. Objective theories put stress on what the
atonement achieved at the event of the cross, outside individuals. This means that any view that sees
Jesus crucifixion as payment by God for our sins is classed as an objective theory.
The first theory I will be looking at is the Ransom theory. The ransom theory is one of the earliest
theories of atonement that originated with Origen of Alexandria. This view orientated from Mark
10:24 and Matthew 20:28, where it states that the Son of Man came to give his life as a ransom for
many. This word ransom was a familiar one for the early Church as it bring up Old Testament imagery
as it was a word use of God s rescue of Israel from Egypt. This theory states that Christ s death on the
cross was a necessary act as a payment to Satan for our release. Due to Adam s sin, we were captured
legally by Satan through the bonds of original sin. Therefore, in order to secure our freedom justly, a
price needed to be paid to Satan. Thus Jesus died on the cross to be that payment. Gregory of Nyssa
explains this theory in terms of God fishing for humanity using Jesus humanity as bait.
This view creates a dualism where it places Satan on the same field as God as He is bargaining with
the Devil. It

she claims, I know telemarketing is my calling, (Goodman 42) proving that she finds comfort in this
job position. Hiding behind her telephone, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She comes to terms with her outward appearance to the public when she expresses their initial
reactions to her. She says, People would walk in, see me, and stop in their tracks. A couple people
actually gasped. People are afraid of change, I guess, but I am the master of change, so I was pretty
understanding (44). Overall, this shows that she is still in denial with the reality of her situation.
Having a job where her disability is not hidden, and her underlying self consciousness consumes her
subconsciousness, she attempts to find an outlet for herself. The young woman returns to the idea that
she was meant to help people. She comes to this conclusion after various encounters at the grocery
store, and decides to take action. She claims that, ..offering deals was what I was born to do (45). Due
to her new position at the grocery store, it is revealed that her willingness to help other people stems
from the fact that she wants to give back, and give people what they need. For majority of her time,
Alma has been taking care of her, giving her whatever she needs, and providing for her. The woman,
not being able to repay her, finds her release in helping others. At her new job, she uses this as her new

Central Valley Case Study
California s Central Valley produces approximately 8% of the nation s agricultural products. Four out
of the five counties with the highest agricultural sales are located in this region. Fresno County takes
the first place with 3.7 billion in annual sales.
This region encompasses approximately 14% of the state of California. The Central Valley is about
450 miles long and 60 miles wide. For many years farmers have used their naked eye, while driving or
walking through the fields, to scout out their lands before planting their crops. But nowadays with the
incredible technology readily available to many, farmers are choosing to scope in a different way.
Currently, farmers have access to several high tech tools to complete their scoping process.

The Evolution of Digital Film
In order for digital film to exist like it does today it had to evolve from something. Digital film
evolved from Film or celluloid film as it is originally more recognized. I have a few questions that I
wish to cover early on and continue to develop as time goes on. What is digital Cinema and what are
the advantages and or disadvantages of it over film. What is film celluloid and where did it originate
from ? Why did digital film start ? finally what is next for digital film is there more to come or will it
transition to something else ?.
Firstly celluloid film is a thin sheet of celluloid, created from nitrocellulose and camphor. Celluloid
can be traced back to as far as 1856 to an English man called Alexander Parkes. Parkes has been found
to be the first person who was granted the first patent which described a plastic material which he
called Parkesine . (1) However it wasn t actually Parkes that patented celluloid. John Wesley Hyatt an
inventor and his brother Isaiah who actually patented their material as celluloid. So celluloid
originated from New Jersey in the United States. Celluloid was actually created to become a
replacement for the use of ivory in many products. However is made its way into film industry later
on. This was primarily down to the work of John H. Stevens. John H. Stevens was a chemist at the
Celluloid Manufacturing Company . (1) He discovered that a material know as amyl acetate was a
solvent for diluting celluloid (1) This discovery

Ethical And Legal Responsibilities Of The Paramedic During...
This paper is about identifying the pre hospital use of Benzylpenicillin and identifying the evidence
behind its use. It will also look and compare dugs used for treating meningococcal disease and discuss
the evidence for and against these drugs and see which one promotes the best recovery. Finally this
paper will discuss professional, ethical and legal responsibilities of the paramedic in administering
antibiotics pre hospital for meningococcal disease.
Benzylpenicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic. The pre hospital indication to use the drug are
suspected meningococcal disease with the presence of a non blanching rash and signs and symptoms
suggestive of meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia. (Fisher, J 2013)
Studies suggest that by the time an ambulance is called, the patient is normally late stage septicaemia
and have most likely already sought help from GP earlier in the day. The patients symptoms can
initially present similar to influenza, so meningitis can often get missed. (Nursing Times, 2014)
Pre hospital use of Benzylpenicillin
There is limited evidence for the pre hospital use of Benzylpenicillin. Using medical search
engines/databases including PubMed prehospitalresearch.eu, searching for adults, Benzylpenicillin pre
hospital bought back very limited appropriate articles. One study found showing the use of
Benzylpenicillin pre hospital came back quite disappointing. The number of cases audited was low
and the majority of the information was

Abstract
In 1997, the Asian Financial Crisis spread rapidly all over the Asia and affected almost all the
economies in the world. Prior to the Asian Financial Crisis, the Asian countries such as Thailand,
Malaysia, South Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore experienced a remarkable growth in the
economy that was considered the highest in the world. These Asian economies increased by a notable
proportion of 6 to 10 percent annually in the GDP. However, what had been regarded as an Asian
miracle seemed to crumple down rapidly 1997 when these Asian countries were faced with a severe
financial crisis in their local stock and currency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regardless of the negotiations for support grant from the IMF and the United States Treasury, the
monetary drainage persisted and Brazil was forced to devalue its currency. As a result, the Brazilian
government authorized the real to float, while it abandoned linking its currency to the U.S. dollar. The
financial crisis in Brazil spread out rapidly to other nations in Latin America and as a result several
billions of dollars were drained from these countries and this hindered the trade exchange with the
United States. As a result, the nations in the Latin America experienced one of the nastiest economic
recession that was mainly fuelled by the Asian financial crisis. The effect of the financial disaster was
predominantly severe in the Latin America s small economies, for instance Bolivia, Uruguay, Ecuador,
Chile and, Argentina and Colombia (Hunter, 1999).
Petti (2001) argues that financial shocks can move rapidly throughout the nations within similar
regions as it was revealed by the Mexican peso disaster that occurred in the year 1994. Similarly, the
financial crisis that affected the Asian countries proved to be a regional financial crisis and it
threatened geographically distant vibrant economies mostly in the Latin America. The Latin America
countries began experiencing the effects of the Asian financial crisis in 1997

  • 2. Pinochet Human Rights Violations The rule of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet Ugarte is one of much controversy. After leading a military coup backed by the United States of America to usurp democratically elected socialist president Salvador Allende, Pinochet served as dictator from 1973 to 1990. Once in power, the Junta, or joint military commission that was tasked with running new Chile and headed by Pinochet, banned all left leaning political parties (don Quijote), and reversed Allende s leftist policies, lowering inflation and causing an economic boom (Britannica). Under his regime, Pinochet is responsible for at least 35,000 human rights violations, including 28,000 tortures, 2,279 executions, and 1,248 missing people, as well as 200,000 citizens (about 2 percent of ... The new administration, led by President Patrizio Aylwin, was unable to investigate human rights violations and economic crimes due to the Constitutional Tribunal upholding a law that restricted any new government from investigating any actions taken by the military government since it took power in 1973 (UPI Archive). This meant those that suffered under Pinochet s rule were unable to seek retribution and were left only to dwell on his cruelty (NPR). There were mixed feelings in the country regarding whether or not to punish him. While some people demanded he be punished, others argued that he should be praised. Fernando Alessandri, a Chilean political figure, claims that The Pinochet regime has many mistakes, very serious mistakes, but these are mistakes that should always be kept in perspective. , also stating that His biggest legacy will be that he opened the country s economy to the world, and brought the world to the country (NPR). Without identifying what tools a playwright uses to construct his/her play through a close reading, such as language, character, or setting, the audience would lack a clear vision of the particular play s meaning. In the case of Clybourne Park, by Bruce Norris, and Water by the Spoonful, by Quiara Alegria Hudes, race can be identified as a theme in both, through the use of literary devices, however it is explored much more subtly in Water by the Spoonful. Here the audience receives a reference to the theme of community. With the racism of the 1950 s comes the clear divide between the white and black community, however, the sense that there is still a divide remains in 2009, in the second act. The racism continues with another white male character, Jim, who pressures black housekeeper, Francine into admitting that her family and herself would not fit in or feel comfortable living in a white community. Jim asks, Would this be the sort of neighborhood you d find an attractive place in which to live? (70). Francine avoids confrontation and simply states, It s a very nice neighborhood (70). Road Not Taken Tone The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost relays the message that in life we, as the readers of the poem, have many decisions to make and how we choose to make those decisions, rules our future. The Road Not Taken is a metaphor for real life and in real life there are important decisions which, in some instances, can cause immense change. The symbolism in The Road Not Taken is the two paths which represent the life of a traveler and all his life decisions. In Frost s poem, the reader comes to realize that life is a combination of decisions, consequences and fate. The author s tone in the poem plays an immense part in helping the reader understand the poem. Throughout the poem we learn that there are two paths to take and the traveler is uncertain about which to choose. Moreover, we learn that choosing the path is actually a life decision and not just a choice between two roads diverging in the autumn woods. Towards the end of the poem, Frost s tone changes to regret, Frost was once said about The Road Not Taken, No matter which road you take, you ll always sigh, and wish you d taken another way. • 29. Nuture Nature Vs Nurture TWINS AND THE NATURE NURTURE OF INTELLIGENCE: Intelligence is defined by psychologists as the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly and learn from experience (Dr. C. George Boeree 2003). It is an interesting aspect of the human being that psychologists try to understand in terms of the various factors that influence it. The variation in the level of intelligence in human beings is scored using the IQ. It is evaluated across a spectrum of perspectives ranging from biological, psychoanalysis, cognitive psychology, humanism and behaviorism. But the most debated is how nature and nurture influence intelligence. Nature follows with a biological approach focusing on genetic, hormonal and neuro chemical explanations of behavior that are acquired, while nurture focuses on all behavior learnt from the environment through conditioning. Nature is what we think of as pre wiring and is influenced by genetic inheritance and other biological factors. Nurture is generally taken as the influence of external factors after conception e.g. the product of exposure, experience and learning on an individual (Saul McLeod , 2007). How nature or nurture influence intelligence or which of them is more influential, is highly studied psychologists. Such studies have been attempted by using twins by isolating from their siblings, and evaluating whether genetic or environmental factors has influence on their intelligence. In their use, identical (monozygote) twins are separated and made to grow in different environmental conditions such as socioeconomic status, parents behavior, alcoholism, criminal behavior, emotional adaptation and nutrition while non identical twins are used as controls. This is done by testing their IQ. (Nature vs Nurture in Intelligence, 2005) The influence of nature on genetic is easily studied using heritability or traits that are considered inherited, including intelligence. Psychologists try to compare the influence of heritability and the environment by taking advantage of the idea that monozygotic twins share 100 percent of their genes while dizygotic twins share 50 percent. Consequently identical twins are expected to display the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the purposes of Matthew is to instruct the church. An obvious clue to this is in the Great Commission: teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you (28:20). The discipling process involves instruction in the words of Christ, and the Gospel of Matthew revolves around five of Jesus discourses (5:1 7:28; 10:5 11:1; 13:3 53; 18:2 19:1; 24:4 26:1). Instead of emphasizing a narrative of Jesus life as Mark does, Matthew uses the narrative elements in his Gospel as a setting for Jesus sermons. The Gospel of John is a persuasive argument for the deity of Jesus. It concentrates on presenting Jesus as the Word (Logos), that is, God (1:1) who became a man (1:14). Thus John meticulously records the statements and describes the miracles of Jesus that can only be attributed to God Himself. Jesus called Himself the bread of life (6:35, 41, 48, 51), the light of the world (8:12; 9:5), the door for the sheep (10:7, 9), the good shepherd (10:11, 14), the resurrection and the life (11:25), the way, the truth, the life (14:6), and the true vine (15:1, 5). This means that an emphasis on Christ s death on the cross and it being an example for/influence on humanity is classed as subjective theories. Objective theories put stress on what the atonement achieved at the event of the cross, outside individuals. This means that any view that sees Jesus crucifixion as payment by God for our sins is classed as an objective theory. The first theory I will be looking at is the Ransom theory. The ransom theory is one of the earliest theories of atonement that originated with Origen of Alexandria. This view orientated from Mark 10:24 and Matthew 20:28, where it states that the Son of Man came to give his life as a ransom for many. This word ransom was a familiar one for the early Church as it bring up Old Testament imagery as it was a word use of God s rescue of Israel from Egypt. This theory states that Christ s death on the cross was a necessary act as a payment to Satan for our release. Due to Adam s sin, we were captured legally by Satan through the bonds of original sin. Therefore, in order to secure our freedom justly, a price needed to be paid to Satan. Thus Jesus died on the cross to be that payment. Gregory of Nyssa explains this theory in terms of God fishing for humanity using Jesus humanity as bait. • 43. The Evolution of Digital Film In order for digital film to exist like it does today it had to evolve from something. Digital film evolved from Film or celluloid film as it is originally more recognized. I have a few questions that I wish to cover early on and continue to develop as time goes on. What is digital Cinema and what are the advantages and or disadvantages of it over film. What is film celluloid and where did it originate from ? Why did digital film start ? finally what is next for digital film is there more to come or will it transition to something else ?. Firstly celluloid film is a thin sheet of celluloid, created from nitrocellulose and camphor. Celluloid can be traced back to as far as 1856 to an English man called Alexander Parkes. Parkes has been found to be the first person who was granted the first patent which described a plastic material which he called Parkesine . (1) However it wasn t actually Parkes that patented celluloid. John Wesley Hyatt an inventor and his brother Isaiah who actually patented their material as celluloid. So celluloid originated from New Jersey in the United States. Celluloid was actually created to become a replacement for the use of ivory in many products. However is made its way into film industry later on. This was primarily down to the work of John H. Stevens. John H. Stevens was a chemist at the Celluloid Manufacturing Company . (1) He discovered that a material know as amyl acetate was a solvent for diluting celluloid (1) This discovery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The patients symptoms can initially present similar to influenza, so meningitis can often get missed. (Nursing Times, 2014) Pre hospital use of Benzylpenicillin There is limited evidence for the pre hospital use of Benzylpenicillin. Using medical search engines/databases including PubMed prehospitalresearch.eu, searching for adults, Benzylpenicillin pre hospital bought back very limited appropriate articles.
