Nuclear Bomb Effect
The explosion of one nuclear bomb can cause mass devastation by increasing the radiation levels of
our planet. There is a natural amount of radiation on earth that is in fact good for plant life, such as the
radiation that produces light that allows plants to photosynthesize. However, radiation that occurs
from nuclear warheads results in cellular mutations and the weakening of plants (Robock and Toon,
70). For example, in 1986, an uncontrolled release of radiation occurred at Chernobyl, a nuclear power
plant in the Ukraine. This radiation ended up destroying over half of the plant life in that region.
Animals can also be affected by high levels of radiation. Animals can develop gene mutations,
increasing the chance of developing cancer which

The results of analysis of variance (Table 3) showed that there were significant differences between
lines in the probability of 1% in terms of all traits; which indicating a high genetic variation for
studied lines. Existence significant differences and genetic variation among genotypes of lentil by
other authors such as Mostafaei et al, (2006), Bayoumi (2008) and Toklu et al, (2009) have also been
reported. Kumar et al, (2012) by studying 43 genotypes of lentil under field conditions found high
diversity for biological yield, seed yield and harvest index. Ruisi et al, (2015) worked on 15
accessions of lentil during two years and stated that high variation existed among genotypes in terms
of pheno morphological and agronomic traits. In the present study, most (21.54%) and lowest (4.79%)
values of the coefficient of variation of error was observed in biological yield and days to flowering,
respectively. The mean of superior lines (Table 4) showed that a specific pure line with high values for
all traits not found; but desirable pure lines in terms of phenological traits, stem diameter, number of
pods per plant, plant height and seed yield were observed. Line No. 20 (ILL590) with large leaf
length, high numbers of pods per plant, more stem diameter, fewer days to flowering and maturity and
high seed yield known as the superior line on weather conditions of Shahrekord, Iran. After that, line

The Fear Of Death In The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Stalker
Nature, a beautiful yet mysterious part of life that all humans can interpret in different ways. Thanks
to the nature around us, man has been able to fortify what we have and advance in unimaginable ways.
For as long as man has been on earth, inhabitants have been able to explore, interpret, and learn in
areas like religion, relationships and educational advancement. However, the constant fear of death is
always in the back of our minds. With so many advances today, it distracts many of us from noticing
where things all began and came from, nature. That is why, man has created so many different
advances that help us forget our inevitable end. In the Epic of Gilgamesh and the movie Stalker
written by Andrei Tarkovski, both works remind audiences of how people have always used
technology to distract us from the thought of dying. These distractions like, religion, relationships,
education do occupy a huge portion of our life but cannot change our end result; death. A huge
advancement in technology is relationships. No matter what the relationship is between humans have
been building for centuries. These relationships that are created help advance us by disguising our
Deaths. Death is something that people have feared since the beginning of time. In the Epic of
Gilgamesh , the main character is a widely loved and also feared. The relationships Gilgamesh created

What s Eating Gilbert Grape- Review and Critique
What s Eating Gilbert Grape.
Film review and critique.
Society s ideological constructs and attitudes towards minority groups are created and reinforced
through media imagery. Although negative associations that maintain inequities with regard to race,
gender and homophobia (Conner Bejoian, 2006) have been somewhat relieved, disability is still
immersed in harmful connotations that restrict and inhibit the life of people with disabilities in our
society.
Disability has appeared frequently in recent films (Byrd Elliot, 1988), a reflection of society s interest
in the subject. These films often misrepresent disability using stereotypes. These stereotypes reinforce
negative and incorrect social perceptions of, and attitudes towards, ... Show more content on

Whenever he tries to escape (usually to the water tower), he is ultimately returned back to this position
of subordination under the care of others, which is typical of this stereotype (Hayes Black, 2003).
A most common stereotype depicted of disabled characters is that of a super man (Safran, 2000) or
supercrip (Harnett, 2000), where a disabled character overcomes massive odds to beat or succeed in
defeating their disability to become normal . The character is often seen as a hero to have made such
progress. Although Arnie does not reflect a hero status, his character is beating his disability by the
very fact that he is still alive. In the opening scenes of the movie, Gilbert s narration lets the audience
know that doctors said we d be lucky if Arnie lived to be ten, well ten came and went (Matalon,
Ohlsson, Teper Hallström, 1993), implying Arnie s triumph over tragedy . He defies death that would
be otherwise be brought about by his disability.
Although not a thematic stereotype reinforced throughout this whole film, it is typical of a disabled
character to be represented as a victim or object of violence (Safran, 2000). At the climax of the film,
Gilbert s overwhelming frustration and anger of his life situation overflows into a violent episode
directed at Arnie. On occasions throughout the film, Arnie is portrayed as an innocent a victim or

Community Policing And The Neighborhood Watch Program
One advantage of community policing is forming neighborhood watch programs which benefit both
police and citizens. Citizens and police work together to discourage criminal behavior and find
solutions to crime (Take Action, n.d.). Neighborhood watch entails educating members on security and
suspicious behaviors such as a person screaming for help, strange noises, a person looking in cars
widows, strangers in cars talking to children and property being taken out of a house when the resident
is not home. Neighborhood watch members are not vigilantes as they help police by looking out for
suspicious occurrences and then report it to law enforcement (Neighborhood Watch, 2015). In my
community Neighborhood Watch keeps drug dealers from selling drugs in the lobby s and building
grounds. The sale and use of drugs had previously accumulated a large amount of violence which has
been largely reduced or eliminated by community policing and the Neighborhood Watch program.
Another advantage of community policing is social media as it gives police and citizens a way to send
and receive information to one another with a much broader range than neighborhood watch; which is
only limited to a specific community. When police are looking for an offender he or she can reach a
nationwide audience by tweeting and/or posting it on his or her social media page so that followers
can repost the offender s information and/or give any helpful information to police to apprehend the
offender

1.1 Identify the different reasons people communicate.
There are 5 main reasons why we communicate these are:
1. To change behaviour
2. To get action
3. To ensure understanding
4. To persuade
5. To get and give information
All these could be to share experiences, to make choices, to express wishes and choices...
1.2 Explain how communication affects relationships in the work setting.
Effective communication in the work place is essential to make sure that information is passed on, to
make sure that the client s needs and problems can be assessed properly, if there are any changes that
effect the care then it needs to be passed on to the team at work, to build good relationships with your

You could ask the individual themselves this is the most effective way and it encourages the individual
to take control. The disadvantages could be that the individual may lack in confidence or they may
have communication difficulties. You could read the care plans which can give you information if the
individual can t communicate their needs the disadvantages are that the care plan may be out of date
and need reviewing, it might not be accurate or may have been written with out much involvement
from the individual. You could also talk to the family and friends they may have good information
about the individuals the disadvantages are that they may communicate their own wishes and not
know the wishes of the individual.

communication is one by asking questions you can asked closed or open questions or just talking to

CPG Boot Camp Observation Report
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the 2017 CPG Boot Camp that will cover From Economic
Challenges to Transformation Opportunities. I believe the title is appropriate as challenges must be
thought of as opportunities. Currently I serve as rector at a nearly 150 year old multi generational
parish with an ASA of 52 in a rural town of approximately 5000 people. Similar to other small rural
towns in the south there are multiple churches in the area.
While there are multiple opportunities for worship, none of the churches are at seating capacity for
their services each week. This observation creates a belief that I would be able to reach without
difficulty new members for St. Luke s, creating growth opportunities in the congregation. ... Show

We have begun implementing ministry teams in the congregation, therefore putting some of the tasks
onto the congregation. It has been my experience that the clergy have taken on the majority of these
tasks. The priest does provide leadership and direction, however the priest cannot be successful
without the support of the congregation.
My belief that the congregation can embrace and is ready for changes is verified in reading the parish
profile that was out together two years ago before I was called as rector. One of the top three items is
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to reach new people and incorporate them into the
life of the church. As a priest that is comfortable trying new strategies and directions, I find it
refreshing that the congregation will likely not be resistant to new ideas.
Where I cannot compare ministry to my past career s, there are similar aspects I have used over the
years that can assist in the development of new systems and strategies. Leveraging my understanding
of data collection and analysis will benefit this process, as I have a firm background in that

Science And Its Impact On Science Essay
Science is an ordered study of the global facts that involves keen observation, analyses and the use of
experiment to certify the researched facts. Science can also be defined as the orderly wits that are
obtained through observation and even through the research and experiments. In the field of
philosophy, science is defined as the approach or the methodology used to test the philosophical
hypothesized statements about nature and other related matters of life. Science interacts differently
with various topics such as theory, presupposition, prediction, causation, correlation, probability,
possibility and even the impossibility. The various elements have different roles in science which are
going to be evaluated in the paper.
The theory is one of the most important aspects of science; are the backbone of science. From the
definition of science, we have seen that it is a systematic manner of generating knowledge. Theories
help to elaborate the observed phenomenon regarding what is known; they predict the unknown, and
in the end, they come up with a conclusion or a new format of the situation. Theories also help to
show the scope of the observed conditions as well as interactions of the situation with other entities.
Therefore, theory plays the role of enabling of the formulation of hypothesis in science which are later
tested using the systematic approach to science.
Scientists are those specialists dealing with science, and they are human too. Each and every human

A Comparsion of the Bhagavad Gita vs The Gospels Essay
Coming from a western culture, it is easy to familiarize with the Gospels over any other written text.
In order to get a different perspective on the outlook of life, it is better to compare the Gospels to
another written text. A text that is an excellent candidate to stand up next to the Gospels is the
Bhagavad Gita (or just the Gita). These two texts can depict similarities and differences between the
two cultures presented: Christianity and Hinduism. Keeping an open mind when reading cultural texts
is what makes the texts more interesting and informs the reader more clearly. The analysis between
one western text and one non western text can really widen the perspective of one person. Due to the
fact that Krishna from the Gita seems to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the messages is to basically love God more than anything and put him before everything. The
verse of Matthew 22:37 states that: Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all Thy heart, with all Thy
soul, and with all Thy might. Likewise, the Gita says, Keep your mind on me, be my devotee,
sacrificing, bow to me you will come to me, I promise, for you are dear to me (Gita 155). Clearly the
meanings behind both these quotes are the same but just worded differently. Krishna and Jesus
constantly emphasize certain aspects that are similar to the other person s teaching. This goes to show
that even though Hinduism and Christianity are two separate cultures with two different scriptural
texts and two different religions, the idea and meaning behind both of these religions are closely
related. No matter how different the two religions may appear to be, the meaning behind their
scriptures is what really defies their religion. Just because the two religions believe in different deities
doesn t mean that the deities aren t teaching the exact same thing. It s just that the two religions have
different ways of teachings their followers and the teachings are slightly worded differently, so this is
where many people fall into the trap by thinking that the meanings from the two scriptures are
different and unique. Morality is the principles concerning the distinction between right and

The Effects Of Atmospheric Conditioning On The Human Body
A Study of The Effects of Atmospheric Conditioning on Pilots and How They are Counteracted
Name: Joshua Butera
IB Subject of Essay: Biology
Supervisor: Mr. Ward
Word Count: ___3125___
Abstract
This study determines the positive and negative effects of flight on the human body. Both the field of
Aeronautics, flight within the Earth s atmosphere, and Astronautics, flight outside of the Earth s
atmosphere, where referenced in the process of research to grasp an understanding of the conditions of
the jobs of Aerospace pilots. The research questions are: Are pilots in the aerospace industry affected
by their jobs overtime? What is the difference in conditions between commercial pilots and jet pilots?
What conditions do astronauts have to undergo? How does G Force affect the human body? How does
zero gravity affect the human body?
In order to investigate this idea much research was conducted on the conditions in which a pilot would
undergo as both an airplane pilot and a spacecraft pilot. The research was more so aimed at how these
conditions had an effect on the human body and why this was the case. In order to come to an accurate
conclusion I analyzed research from primary sources such as official government websites, similar
studies, interviews conducted personally with various types of pilots, and personal hands on
experiences of my own as a passenger in an aircraft.
Through very detailed research I concluded that there is much at risk over time as an individual

Critical Evaluation of 1 Child Policy in China
The policy was started in 1979, due to the population dramatically increasing to an estimated 1 billion
people. In China there was a limited amount of farming land and the country could not cope with
feeding this population. The country is Communist and the ideas of the party were to show to the
World how brilliant the vision of Communism was. For this, it could not ask other countries for loans
or trade, otherwise it would be showing the signs of weakness. This threatened the survival and
development of China, especially since the baby boomers born in the 1960s reaching child bearing

kept. Boys could work on the farm or give them money after they have retired. A girl on the other
hand cost more such as clothes and other things. The parents also had to pay for their daughter to get
married known as a dowry. If a girl was born therefore they were usually drowned or aborted in the
most inhumane methods. The after affects of this were that 30 40 years later the country was full of
men. This led to the increase in homosexuality and prostitution, which therefore led to the increase in
sexually transmitted diseases.
Children were left in the doorways of wealthy people s homes or orphanages. Girls were often sold to
pimps as young as 12 and the parents then reaped the rewards. They would send their daughter miles
away and tell the Government that they had never had a child and therefore would not have to pay an
extra 15% tax.
With few women and vast amount of men per town and village, rape and kidnapping became a
frequently usual event. Wealthy men would send people out on to the street, pick a pretty women and

Causes Of Natural Disasters
Among many natural disasters in this world, there are three natural things that are responsible for
natural disasters. These three are earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanos. We humans call them Natural
Disasters because they could destroy all of us or all our homes and important things we need to
survive. Without humans, they would only be called natural events because they would not have
anything to destroy. Starting with the earthquakes, they have the potential to cause harm and injury,
cost loved ones and other people their lives. Earthquakes also have the potential to weaken the
foundation of buildings, roads, and bridges and cause them to collapse. During an earthquake, some
buildings even collapse imminently, after that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I found that these websites apply earth science collections that are needed for land use planning or
emergency preparation choices. Sadly, these websites do not predict the earthquakes.
Next, the volcano hazards program of the United States Geographical Survey s Volcano Hazards
program helps scientists understand volcanic process and also to decrease the harmful outcomes of the
volcanic activity. The program watches active or volcanos that have the potential to be active, it asses
their toxic hazards, it answers to volcanic catastrophes, and lastly, it conducts it research on how the
volcanoes work. This website focuses on making sure we get warnings of potential volcanic hazards.

Understanding Jesus Heritage
Sandra Schneiders (as cited in Ryan, 2012), describes the bible as ...an integral, even normative, part
of living tradition . This can be seen particularly in the use of the infancy narratives which tell the well
known Christmas story, in Catholic religious groups today individual parishioners, churches and
Catholic Education institutions. The text is used and heavily relied upon to inform believers and those
wishing to gain insight into the Catholic religion, on the faith. It appears through contemporary
scholarship, however, that the infancy gospels of Matthew and Luke present to their readers, different
themes, conflicting information and two very different accounts of the significant birth and early life

He came into the world to work along side the poor, the rich, the healthy, the sick, the good and the
bad. Examples of this are shown in stories such as that of Jesus and Zacchaeus, the sinful tax collector
(Luke 19) and the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30 37). These gospel stories are used today
to show how Jesus love and compassion flowed through to all man kind and that it was not reserved
for any favoured groups or individuals. Luke is demonstrating to his audience the universality of Jesus
and that salvation is offered to everyone.
Mason (2009), indicates it is very unlikely that Luke or Matthew was an eyewitness to Jesus life and
that they relied upon other sources to formulate their gospels. Therefore, as previously discussed, it is
imperative that the infancy narratives be viewed as separate stories and not one historically accurate
recount. This is, in large part, due to the discrepancies and conflicting information readers are
presented with.
An example of these conflicts has been previously discussed, in both texts providing differing
genealogies at the discussion of Jesus birth. Matthew traces Jesus blood line back to that of Abraham
and King David, whereas Luke aligns Jesus heritage as far back as Adam. These conflicting accounts,
as aforementioned, are for differing purposes and convey different messages to the reader. Matthew s
purpose is

Andean Cocaine Essay
Andean Cocaine traces the obscure processes and transformations of the global coca and cocaine
commodity chain. Gootenberg documents the lore of the Andean coca leaf, the birth of cocaine as a
medical commodity, the early twentieth century decline cocaine, and its reemergence as a global illicit
good following World War II. The commodity chain of coca and cocaine began with the extraction of
alkaloidal cocaine from the dried Andean coca leaf. This discovery by German doctoral student Albert
Niemann would soon transform cocaine into a world drug commodity. Initially, cocaine was essential
as a high value medical commodity. Medical uses of cocaine included treatment of opiate addiction,
hay fever, asthma, or other respiratory ailments. Cocaine s greatest medical impact in the United
States was as a local anesthetic during surgery. In Europe, cocaine s commodity chain was defined by
the coca elixir Vin Mariani developed by Corsican physician and chemist Angelo Mariani. Cultivated
by Peruvian and Bolivian peasants living in the Andean Mountains, the coca leaf would be dried and

The Theory Of Needs Theories And How An Individual s...
Motivation is the influence or drive for an individual to perform a specific act. In the past many
theorists have scrutinised the concept of needs theories and how an individual s human behaviour
works in order for them to be motivated. However it has also been a very heavy topic considering
different theorists have judged one another s perception on the notion of motivating factors. In the past
centuries, theorists have critically analysed the ways in which individuals are best motivated. A well
known psychologist Maslow (1943) believed that there are five levels of needs in order for an
individual to be fully motivated. His focus is more on the positive needs of employees. From the
Bottom of the pyramid comes the physiological needs or in other words basic needs, which consist of
necessities such as food, water, health and things that any human starts with. He stresses on the notion
of homeostasis as part of these needs, the body s automatic efforts to maintain a constant, normal state
of the bloodstream (Maslow 1943,p.270). When satisfied, they tend to search for safety needs; these
can be considered as job security. Such acts are moving from a job to a much safer one or even one
that have long term contracts. People will then look at the next level of social needs, to be ultimately
recognised by others, and to just fit in the workforce. The next level is the esteem needs, to feel good
about ones self, and to be praised by those higher on the organisational hierarchy.

Life Of Galileo And Top Girls Analysis
Life of Galileo and Top Girls
Life of Galileo and Top Girls are two plays that truly exemplify epic theater. They both tell stories in
order to call the audience to some form of action, and they both alienate the audience from the
characters. Epic theater s purpose is to cause the audience to think objectively about the play, to reflect
on its argument, to understand it, and to draw conclusions ( Epic Theater ). Therefore, for a work to be
categorized as epic theater it must have an argument or main idea. Not only must it have an idea that
drives the play, but the subjects of the play must be conduits to this idea. This is why characters in epic
plays are often detached from the audience. The audience is not supposed to be invested in ... Show

This devotion to ignorance, or denial of the truth is another theme in the play. In Life of Galileo,
ignorance is represented by the church and most of its members. Many of these figures stay willfully
ignorant despite being faced with Galileo s findings. For example, in Life of Galileo Galileo says, A
man who doesn t know the truth is just an idiot, but a man who knows the truth and calls it a lie is a
crook and Shutting their eyes to every fact and pretending nothing has happened (Brecht). It seems
that the political structure within the play advocates for the ignorance of people even though they are
faced with the truth, and that is one of the political ideas that Brecht is trying to convey with Life of
Galileo. Specifically the characters that represent ignorance of the truth are Clavius and Cardinal
Barberini, because they are confronted with and acknowledge Galileo s truth while still forbidding it
to be taught. They are the antithesis of Galileo and the ideas he represents. While Galileo represents
truth, they represent ignorance of truth. Because truth is such a broad and universal theme, Life of
Galileo has been adapted a few times in order to fit into different time periods and political
environments. Because of this, Life of Galileo is allowed to have a subtly different theme with each
adaptation. In order to be able to differentiate the ideas associated with Galileo and the character of
Galileo himself, Brecht has to alienate the audience

Steal The Baudelaire The Art Of Creativity
When individuals ask about creativity, typically they have pre conceived notion of what is creativity.
Studies from Business insider claims that school are trying to limit creativity by forcing classes that
are little to no interest to students. Those who ponder the idea about what is truly creative are
individuals who can be reason with. The art of creativity is one s own perspective; what one accepts as
ludicrous other might believe to be brilliant. A ted talk by Sir Ken Robinson s proven this statement by
using a child who fidgets a lot as an example of how most saw her as ill, but actually she s a talented
dancer who later on became a prodigy in ballet. So, if schools took away her creativity, then she
wouldn t have reached her full potential. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike math, science, history, and physical education classes, you can fully examine your options. The
novels, A series of unfortunate event shows how three rich orphans whose parents were killed by the
antagonist due to their money. Count Olaf, the antagonist in this book series tires tirelessly to steal the
Baudelaire children s fortune. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny have studied in every subject imaginable due
to their parents status, but they have never taken a course in creativity. If they had, life threatening
situation like being trapped in a hospital, or trying to escape from a slumbering wouldn t be as
challenging. The Baudelaire children are a prime example of how endless classes can all be useless if
your ability to adapt are adequate. If they even spend a fraction of their studying time for a creative
class, then their lives wouldn t always be in danger and fending for themselves in reality would be
easier. When Count Olaf trapped them inside a burning hospital, voilet didn t notice and came up with
a plan last second that almost costed her sibling their lives. If they ve been taught that a creative class,
violet wouldn t have hesitated and her sibling would not have to risk their lives while escaping.
Additionally, when the Baudelaire were trying to decipher a code from their friends, about where they
are being kept prisoner when they ve been captured by Count Olaf, if they had taken a class on
creativity then the code would of been a simple to them due to how its just basically a riddle.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that they ve never had any prior knowledge of expanding their mind
beyond: memorizing date for a class, remembering formulas, or learning names, failure is inevitable.

that truly can teach you more than simple education. It would expand thinking to

The Timeless Quality of the Foundations of Excellent...
Foundations of Excellent Leadership Are Timeless
Introduction
It is often said that a manager is what one does and leader is who one is. This is especially the case
during times of turbulent economic, social and political change. In the debate of whether the
effectiveness of a leader s communication skills is dependent on their age or generation, one must take
into account one of the most critical skills in any leaders skill set, and that is emotional intelligence
(EI) (Avolio, Yammarino, 2002). Great leadership is timeless as it is predicated on respect and
motivation of subordinates and peers and subordinates, along with a very clear focus on results
attained through shared vision. It is the intent of this analysis to show that transformational leadership
is timeliness because it is predicated on principles applicable to each generation. The impact of
technology on leadership is to accelerate transparency and trust across entire organizations when
transformational leaders are driving progress to shared goals and objectives (Bernoff, Li, 2008).
Technology will amplify excellent leadership and shine a very bright light on mediocre and inferior
leadership over time (Gilley, Dixon, Gilley, 2008).
Analysis Of Transformational Leadership Across Generations
The core, foundational elements of transformational leadership are more predicated on Emotional
Intelligence (EI), charisma, communication and collaboration capacity than any topically driven or
short term attribute

How to Satisfy Hunger with Home Cooking for Today
Home cooking offer dishes with exceptional taste and satisfaction. However, modern living often
leaves little time for cooking at home (National Restaurant Association, n.d.). Due to modernization
and adjustments in the lifestyles of many people, the means of complying with the demand of
satisfying their hunger has changed dramatically.
According to a research conducted by the National Restaurant Association (2013), about 33% of the
consumers say that spending in fast food restaurants is an indispensable part in their lifestyles. It is for
the reason that people in this fast phasing world prefer convenience foods that are served very quickly
more than the home cooked meals that take time to prepare. This trend is sustained through the
emergence of a prominent industry the fast food.
Fast food industry is perceived to be an American conception. It is said to first begin in the United
States of America in 1912 with the opening of a simple fast food restaurant called the Automat, which
serve foods and drinks through coin and bill operated vending machines.

Dna Rn The Biological Diversity
Christianah Sobukonla 11/25/14 DNA sequence and Dependent culture in Microbial Diversity
Biodiversity is also known as the biological diversity. Biodiversity refers to all kinds of organism that
can be found in a particular area.it includes a variety of plants, animals, fungi and other living things.
Biodiversity of an ecosystem, is a community of animals, plants, and living things in relationship to
their environment, which can be physical or chemical. Microbial diversity can be defined as the
different kinds of microorganism which includes bacteria, archaea, fungi, and protists. The study of
microorganism is important because they play a large role in thce environment. Although
microorganism are not well known, which might be due to their small size, and the hardship of
recognizing them. Particularly bacteria and other prokaryotic organisms. Only 3100 bacteria are
recognized in Bergey s manual out of 300000 to 1000000 species of prokaryotes that is on earth.
Bacteria although mostly thought of has been harmful can also be useful. Some microbes help in
immune system regulation, digestion, and vitamin production. (7). They are also helpful in some of
the cycles that take place, like the nitrogen fixation, nitrification and nitrate reduction. They control
what the atmosphere is made of and also,

God Of Small Things Character Analysis
The God of Small Things is a debut novel of Arundhati Roy. It is a story about the childhood
experiences of fraternal twins. Their lives are destroyed by the Love Laws that lay down who should
be loved, and how. And how much . (1998: 168) The novel explores how the small things affect
people s behaviour and their lives. It is the history through hear say of a family of Syrian Christians in
Kerala. It looks at everything in the spirit of comedy. There is a lot of a devastatingly, sardonically,
satirical attitude in it. The novel begins with the presentation of the ancestor Punniyan Kunju who, in
1876, had been taken by his father to see the Patriarch at Cochin.
The story of the novel The God of Small Things is set in Ayemenem, now part of Kottayam district in
Kerala, India. The temporal setting shifts back and forth between 1969, when fraternal twins Rahel
and Esthappen are seven years old, and 1993, when the twins are reunited at the age of 31. Malayalam
words are liberally used in conjunction with English. Facets of Kerala life captured by the novel are
Communism, the caste system, and the Keralite Syrian Christian way of life. Roy ends her
postcolonial novel by suggesting how much theoretical, social, cultural, political and historical
knowledge is involved in her portrayal of the characters Ammu, Estha and Rahel and their learning to
experience in Kerala. Their changing relationship with Velutha is based on an understanding of the
brutality of caste, the love laws,

Impact Of John Woolman On African American Abolitionists
The Philadelphia Quakers are an extremely religious organization who actively practice what they
preach. The one thing the Quakers believed strongly in was equality for all, but they did not always
believe owning slaves was a sinful act. Scholars such as Aptheker, Cole, Glickman, Houston, and
Newman, all believe that John Woolman was the main and most important Quaker abolitionist that
applied his religious views to introduce the idea that slavery went against Quaker s Christian religion.
There are also two other main Quaker abolitionists that fought alongside Woolman, and all three left a
significant impact on the Quaker society. Why is Woolman considered the main abolitionist who got
people to follow him and change their views on slavery? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Woolman is the first and most important Quaker to start the Abolitionists among the Quaker
society. Evidence proves that he was the first Quaker to speak up about the Quaker s religion and
owning slaves. He is the one that had the idea that slavery is anti Christian and should end the sinful
act. Two other major abolitionists gravitated towards Woolman because they agreed with his beliefs.
Another scholarly debate is when Quakers started taking the role as abolitionists. Evidence supports
that any of the main events such as the meeting, published writings, and other followers, would be the
main start. It only makes sense to start from the beginning at the meeting. When Woolman spoke up
about his views, it was the spark that started the domino effect. The published writings and the other
followers played a very important role, without those things then the abolition movement might not
have had such a huge impacted on society. With all three of these combined, it lead to the Quakers
believing that slavery is a corrupt and an immoral act upon the human race that should be

productivity (Gale 2004). During this stage five girls were transferred from the factory floor to a

number of alterations were made to their working conditions (Carey 1967). One of the changes made
was to the illumination values in the factory environment. When the light was cut down to .06 of a

illumination caused decreases in levels of production (Broches 2008). According to Carey (1967) the
conclusion came as a great éclaircissement as the founding s were quite different from what they had

puzzled to observe that productivity continued to rise regardless of the changes made to the physical

So we sat in a group and gave characteristics of what we thought was a leader and what we think the
ideal leader should be. After thirty minutes or so of discussing, we came up with at least a full page of
characteristics we thought a leader should encompass. They included traits like helping others grow,

The Dangers Of Farm In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Most believe when George Orwell wrote Animal Farm he was trying to warn us about several thing,
some of those things include communism, revolution, and class divide. Orwell points out the dangers
of communism by putting the dangers in a understandable, digestible cute story with animals. He
shows the dangers of revolution by remind us how some revolutionions just end up being a switch a
power to someone worse. And he reminds us about the dangers of class divide by have a big ruling
class destroy all others. George Orwell wrote Animal Farm to remind us the dangers of communism,
revolution, and class divide.
One of the main reasons Orwell wrote this book is to show us the dangers of communism. Overall it s
blatantly obvious the whole book is just a big diss on communism by having historical events line up
to the ones in the book. Even the animals ideology is called, Animalism. In the book an animal named
Old Major gave a speech on the principles of Animalism in which Old Major stated, Now, comrades,
what is the nature of this life of ours? Let us face it: our lives are miserable, laborious, and short. and
Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay
eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all
the animals (Animal Farm Pg. 3) . This kind of talk sounds awfully similar to the teachings of Marx
and Lenin the same people who eventually influenced and stared the russian revolution which would
lead the the creation of the U.S.S.R thenceforth 20 million dead. Furthermore, it seems that Orwell
was trying to compare some of his character to notorious communists so that he could warn us. That is
one way Orwell was trying to warn us in Animal Farm.
Another thing Orwell was trying to warn us in Animal Farm is the dangers of revolution. See, most
revolutions have a change of power from one bad person to a worse person. Some historical examples
include French Revolution which saw power go from the monarch to Napoleon, Iranian Revolution
which saw power go from the the king to the khomeini, and the Russian Revolution. Orwell was
warning us by again having the events of the Russian Revolution line

Online Child Predators
Nowadays with the use of technology child predators lurk around the internet looking for his or her
next victim. An online child predator is anyone seeking out children or teens to exploit them for sexual
abuse. Online child predators can either be male or female, but most them are male. The profile of an
online child predator is complex, because the predators come from all different backgrounds.
Online child predators have many methods of locating, grooming, and abusing their victims. These
predators locate their victims online through chatrooms, instant messaging, email, as well as social
media sites (Wolak, Finkelhor, Mitchell, Ybarra 2008). Once the predator finds his victim, he will then
begin grooming the child. The purpose of the grooming process is to establish and gain the child s
trust (Enough is Enough, 2017). The predators grooming tactics include, but not limited to: flattering
and complimenting the child excessively, send gifts, invest time, money, and energy to groom the
child, develop trust and secrecy, manipulate the child by listening to and sympathizing with the child s
problems and insecurities, and make promises of an exciting, stress free life, tailored to the youth s
desire (Enough is Enough, 2017). Once the predator has gained the trust of his victim, he will then

The book talks about Moody s early years and her family s instability and struggle living in a racial

Essay about Etiology of Developmental Dyslexia
Etiology of Developmental Dyslexia
The long disputed debate about the primary cause of dyslexia is still very much alive in the field of
psychology. Dyslexia is commonly characterized as a reading and writing impairment that affects
around 5% of the global population. The disorder has frequently been hypothesized to be the result of
various sensory malfunctions. For over a decade, studies have made major contributions to the
disorder s etiology; however, scientists are still unclear of its specific causal. Initially, dyslexia was
thought to be a reading disorder in children and adults (1). Later it was suggested to consist of both a
visual and writing component, therefore characterizing it as more of a learning disability which ...

While it was important to locate the specific cause of the disorders manifestations, it seemed that the
most effective results would be achieved by a collective approach. This kind of approach would
encompass ideas placed forth by both the cognitive and neurological theoretical ideas which currently
existed in the current research of the etiology of dyslexia.
The phonological deficit hypothesis of dyslexia is one of the most long standing explanations existing
in psychological research. The theory was coined by a man known as the father of dyslexia, Pringle
Morgan in 1896. Morgan viewed reading as a process that critically involved the segmentation of text
into graphemes (1). These graphemes served as the earliest precursors to phonemes (the small unit of
language), such that grapheme to phoneme conversion is equivalent to the whole sound of a word (1),
(5). The process is said to both require that a reader assemble and address a word s phonology.
Dyslexics are said to have phonological deficits which caused phonemic representation difficulties;
they would often fare worse than others when it came to mapping sounds into letters in the brain, and
with phonemic recall (1,5). Deficits in dyslexics ability to retain short term word memory and
problems with segmentation of words into phonemes (e.g., auditory discrimination), lent support to
these ideas (5).
A study by Petra Georgiewa and colleagues investigated the phonological

Summary Of Fashion Design By Cristbal Balenciaga
Cristóbal Balenciaga was a fashion designer who always wanted to trial different styles. To lead him
the route in which he would then outline an altogether novel outfit and it is this origination that the
Victoria and Albert Museum have opted to concentrate on this orderly constructed exhibition.
The exhibition is closely structured around three sections: Front of House looks at Balenciaga s
salons, Workrooms uncovers what happens behind the scenes, and Balenciaga s Legacy examines the
impact he has had on other major fashion brands.
From start to finish, the show focuses on the most minor subtle elements that made Balenciaga s
fashion. The designer was never reluctant to be striking as far as style and praising procedure as
opposed to style. Cristóbal Balenciaga s work was so true to modernity and femininity. Innovative and
inviting, his work is always inspiring .
The show uncovers this was a creator who needed to guarantee that each component of his creations
was impeccable, required with each and every progression in making the ideal outfit. If there was the

Similarities Between An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge...
The Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, by Ambrose Bierce tells the story of a man being punished for a
crime. While he is dying, he vividly imagines his escape, the one thing that urges him on is the
thought of his family. White Heron, by Sarah Orne Jewett follows a girl named Sylvia who lives in a
small country home with her grandmother. She has a simple life: walking with her cow and hanging
out with the forest creatures. However, when a young hunter arrives on the scene with a very alluring
offer, Sylvia is faced with a tough decision. The setting of the short story, An Occurrence at Owl
Creek Bridge , is in northern Alabama during the Civil War. The short story, A White Heron , takes
place in New England during the summer on a farm. Throughout the short stories both Jewett and
Bierce, describe the similar scenes a pond, a forest, and a faint sunlight.
One similarity between the short stories is both take place by some sort of water. Peyton was near a
stream when he was shot and decided to tried another method of escaping. The humming of the gnats
that danced above the eddies of the stream, the beating of the dragon flies wings, the strokes of the
water spiders legs, like oars which had lifted their boat all these made audible music. A fish slid along
beneath his eyes, and he heard the rush of its body parting the water (Bierce 1505). This quote
describes a stream that was nearby Peyton. It describes a stream of water and the organisms that are
surrounding the stream. Sylvia theory was that if a person climbed the tallest tree in the forest they
would see the ocean. While on the hunt for the White Heron s nesting spot, she climbed the tallest
tree. Sylvia s faced was like a pale star, if one had seen it from the ground, when the last thorny bough
was past, and she stood trembling and tires but wholly triumphant, high in the tree top. Yes, there was
the sea with the dawning sun making a golden dazzle over it, and toward that glorious east flew two
hawks with slow moving pinions (Jewett 1602). This quote shows that Sylvia s view is coming from
the treetop; and she sees the sea and two hawks. At some point in the story, both characters were near
a type of water; Peyton was by a stream and Sylvia was

Aboriginal Discrimination And Aboriginal People
Overview
For many centuries the original inhabitants of Canada, the Aboriginals, have suffered at the hands of
the government. From unrightly abducting their land to racial discrimination and forcing them to
comply with Euro Canadian culture, Indigenous people had every right to be enraged. Indigenous, or
Aboriginal people is a title given to the original settlers and their descendants of North America.
Indians (or First nations), Metis and Inuit, are 3 groups of distinct peoples with unique histories,
languages, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs, and it is unfair to call them one. In Canada today,
more than 1.7 million people identify themselves as an Aboriginal person. Amongst the many first
nations communities here in Canada, The Algonquin people are the most recognized since their
historic land deal with the federal and provincial government back in October 2016. Originally living
in southern Quebec and eastern Ontario, today, Algonquin people have adapted to living in urban
communities across these areas. Due to the changing in lifestyle, aboriginal people have had to adjust.
To them land is much more than something you buy and own, it s the thing that governs their
spirituality intertwining their lives deeply with nature. With a switch in the way they feed themselves,
clothes themselves, and protect themselves, it is destined for them to feel a sense of emptiness in their
hearts. Most of Crown owned land has still to be returned today, and the loss of their

though Schatz was not following along. On the contrary, the boy from Stolen Day wants more
attention from his mother. In the story Stolen day it says, She was pretty busy that day and hadn t paid

the pleasure they seemed to take from taking lives of the innocent. Not only did the soldier inflict

The Characteristics Of Kona Coffee
Kona coffee As unique as it gets
What is Kona and what makes it so unique?
It s a coffee that s grown in the North and South Kona districts of Hawaii. The Kona districts in
Hawaii is a two mile long stretch of land which contains over 600 coffee farms; and this district is
often referred to as the Kona coffee belt
Here are the reasons that make Kona coffee the most unique coffee region on the planet.
The number one reason is the low altitude. Usually coffee is grown at 5000+ feet and the Kona coffee
grows in places that range from 800 ft. to 2300 ft.
One of the reasons that this happens is because clouds settle over the crops in the afternoon and thus
provide a natural shade for the coffee protecting it from the hot sun in Hawaii.
Reason number two is the steep volcanic slopes which create ideal drainage system for the rain and all
of this delivers conditions that resemble much higher elevations in other parts of the world. ... Show

The University of Utah Honors College motto engraved on the rock outside of the Marriott Honors
Center reads Serve the World . The motto assumed to be written and approved by the donor and
honors boards is an attempt to inspire college students through a short phrase. It s safe to say the
people on these boards have good hearted motives in writing a phrase they believe will drive honors
students to have an unstoppable drive to produce a positive change in the world. Aspiring to be a
phrase vague enough to make students want to find the solution for climate change, cure cancer, and
end world hunger; while also being a phrase that is powerful enough to make students feel like they
have the power to change serve the world, the motto attempts to reach near impossible heights. The

The motto written by unknown author however is too abstract to convey any directional importance, is
too similar to the motto s of BYU, and it is short and overwhelming. It is important to understand and
appreciate what the board was trying to do, whether they were trying to please donors, they were
donors, or maybe that s just what the board found the most uplifting, but if the organization is
expecting to create critically minded students like the Honor s College tries to pride itself in doing; the
motto needs to convey that. It not only needs to reflect and satisfy what the donors and board are
trying to do but also accomplish the goals of the University s Honors College as well, so that money
continues to flow into programs like the Honors College, but the programs can also carry out their
objectives. If satisfying the donors is too distant of a distraction from the end goal, it is not worth their
donations. Taking a quote from a well known respected philosopher could be the answer to the

Desperation Character Analysis
Having hope and courage is hard in a town like Desperation. A mining town controlled by an evil
spirit, Tak, that inhabits citizens, and it forces them to do unspeakable things. It first possesses a cop,
Collie Entragian, who kidnaps people and murders them. However, the Collie Entragian survival crew
has bravery at all times. In the book Desperation by Stephen King, King s message is courage is a
powerful tool. The main characters experience unimaginable torture and many hardships. However,
they keep going and face their fears.
David Carver was abducted with his family by Collie Entragian. He always has hope and is faithful;
he believes it was his job to serve and love God. Throughout the novel, he uses this to motivate him.
Within the first couple hours of being in Desperation, both his sister, father, and mother were
murdered. Although this is immensely tough, he tried to prevent this from happening to others. For
example, he risked his life to find another person. He stated, I can find him. He s close...I m supposed
to find him (King 596). David was courageous in this moment because he knew the risks and still
went out to find John Marinville. This action speaks volumes about David s character and the overall
theme. For example, David knew he could face a similar fate as his family, but he fought against the
demon. Instead of fearing what Tak might do, he focused on helping others and escaping. He
overcame Tak because of the courage he had, not by using anything

Large Urban Cities In America
Problem Statement
Global Warming is quickly becoming a growing issue for large urban cities in America. As we expand
our urban areas with the growing population, cities use more energy for air conditioning, water, and
lighting (). Although air conditioning is powered by electricity, many urban cities rely on the
combustion of coal for energy (). Combustion of coal emits CO2 and deadly gases into the atmosphere
which leads to Global Warming (). Buildings in urban areas use conventional roofs as their main
aesthetics. Conventional roofs are generally comprised of tar and gravel. On hot summer days,
conventional rooftops can be 27 50°C hotter than the surrounding air temperature. This happens
because the albedo of tar and gravel is extremely low which allows for the sun s energy to be absorbed
instead of reflected (). The increased temperature leads to urban heat islands (). Increasing higher
albedo surfaces on roofs will result in more reflection of solar energy away from the urban areas ().
Rooftops covered in plants, also known as Green Roofs have grown popular tremendously in the last
decade. These rooftops are covered in natural greenery like small trees, bushes, flowers, grass, etc.
Green roofs are cost effective way to solve many problems with global warming in urban areas ().

Northern Rock embarked on an intensive growth strategy when it demutualised from a building
society to a stock form bank in 1997. Instead of relying on traditional customer deposits to fund its
growth, Northern Rock relied more on wholesale funds to sustain Northern Rock s operations.
Figure [ 2 ] Profits of Northern Rock (Northern Rock Annual Report and Accounts)
This strategy of originate and distribute model of funding was the brainchild of Northern Rock s
Chairman, Adam Applegarth, and it thrived as shown by the tremendous increased in asset size and
profits of the banks over the years. After demutualising in 1997, Northern Rock s assets grew each

Gender Inequalities Of Workforce And Gender Inequality
Arianna Khoubeserian Mr. Parker Sociology 101 February 1 2017 Gender Inequalities in Workforce
Over the years it has become evident that women face far more significant barriers in the workforce
than men do. A clear representation of this barrier is established by the gender pay gap, which is the
difference in monetary amount received between a woman s and a man s average weekly earnings.
The economy, as a social institution, is affected by gender and sex inequality. The idea of inequality in
the workplace is central to explaining wage disparities and is a crucial factor that intervenes between a
person s human capital. Despite a woman s depth of knowledge and commendable work ethic, there
still remains significant obstacles to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conflict theory declares that social problems occur when dominant groups, which are the men in the
workforce, mistreat subordinate ones such as the women, and thus advocates for a power imbalance
between genders . Marx viewed the society in two parts, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. In this
social phenomenon, the men represent the people who control all the power and the women represent
the people who are being controlled. Men and women are constantly in the battle to obtain the most
factors of production, yet men seem to have an unfair advantage due to their gender. For example
during job interviews, some questions may revolve around what gender the applicant is. Women are
more likely asked about their duties outside of home or if they are expecting to have children.
Singeling women out by suggesting they would need times to miss work especially due to maternity
leave, portrays women as not being the best fit for the job. They begin to feel vulnerable and not
capable of handling the job. Some conflict theorists believe that the reason these roles continue is
because the dominant group naturally works to maintain their power and status though the less
powerful group and this becomes habitualized in society. Also conflict and inequality are developed
by the unequal distribution of social capital. This imbalance of resources creates conflict within men
and women because women will strive to achieve more as men try to bring them

Ethical Issues In Nursing Profession Paper
Introduction:
Every day we are faced with a moral decision to provide high quality, reasonable care for our patients.
We are entrusted by our profession, colleagues, and other healthcare providers to act professionally
and put the interest of our patient first when providing rehabilitation intervention. In this discussion
assignment, I will be sharing with you the ethical challenges that I encounter as a physical therapist
(PT) in the intensive care unit (ICU) while providing an early mobilization program and also this is a
Segway to my project titled Evidence based Approach to the Benefits of Early Mobilization in the
Intensive Care Unit: An Education In Service.

S42) supports the idea of early referral to physical therapy to improve the patient s cardiopulmonary
function, improve muscle strength and endurance that may have an impact in optimizing the overall
functional capacity of the patient.
Fortunately, physical therapy consult is part of a standing order in the ICU. The ICU physician notifies
the patient, and in situations where the patient is not cognitively appropriate, a family member will be
notified for rehabilitation intervention. Therefore, no further legal documentation needed such as
informed consent.
Since this project does not involve the use of patient s name or specific identifiers, patient
confidentiality and privacy are preserved.
Concerning the formal process to remain ethical and legal, I was able to assist in the creation, and
implementation of an acute care and ICU competency skills checklist to warrant PTs including myself
working in the ICU, to be competent and skilled. These clinical proficiencies can be made possible by
collaborating with nursing educators in providing instructions and training on various tubes and lines.
Moreover, the respiratory therapy team leader also provides an in service regarding the different

The Legal Drinking Age Of The United States
The Legal Drinking Age
The legal drinking age in the United States is 21, while in other countries the legal age ranges from 16
18. The argument in the United States is, Should the United States lower its drinking age? There are
many sides to this argument but research has given many good points to back up both sides of the
question. First issue is the difference between a teen s brain with alcohol and an adult s brain with
alcohol. Another concern is that drinking at a younger age can help teach culture. Lastly, the more
alcohol that people are exposed to, there is an increase in death rate. I believe that it is a good idea to
keep the legal drinking age at age 21 because in our past we have had many problems with increased
deaths due to the drinking age being at different ages. My research used uses pathos, logos, ethos and
kairos to help persuade the reader that 21 should stay the legal drinking age.
First, one reason the drinking age is 21 is because the United States Mothers Against Drunk Driving
program wants to make sure a teen s brain develops to maturity in order for them to be able to drink
alcohol. The argument that congress had in the 70 s was, If young Americans could be entrusted to
vote, serve on a jury and fight in Vietnam, why couldn t they order a beer? (Griggs). If Americans are
allowed to vote, fight in the wars and serve on jury all at the age of 18, what is the difference in them
being able to go out and buy some alcohol? This side of the argument

  • 2. Nuclear Bomb Effect The explosion of one nuclear bomb can cause mass devastation by increasing the radiation levels of our planet. There is a natural amount of radiation on earth that is in fact good for plant life, such as the radiation that produces light that allows plants to photosynthesize. However, radiation that occurs from nuclear warheads results in cellular mutations and the weakening of plants (Robock and Toon, 70). For example, in 1986, an uncontrolled release of radiation occurred at Chernobyl, a nuclear power plant in the Ukraine. This radiation ended up destroying over half of the plant life in that region. Animals can also be affected by high levels of radiation. Animals can develop gene mutations, increasing the chance of developing cancer which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The results of analysis of variance (Table 3) showed that there were significant differences between lines in the probability of 1% in terms of all traits; which indicating a high genetic variation for studied lines. Existence significant differences and genetic variation among genotypes of lentil by other authors such as Mostafaei et al, (2006), Bayoumi (2008) and Toklu et al, (2009) have also been reported. Kumar et al, (2012) by studying 43 genotypes of lentil under field conditions found high diversity for biological yield, seed yield and harvest index. Ruisi et al, (2015) worked on 15 accessions of lentil during two years and stated that high variation existed among genotypes in terms of pheno morphological and agronomic traits. In the present study, most (21.54%) and lowest (4.79%) values of the coefficient of variation of error was observed in biological yield and days to flowering, respectively. The mean of superior lines (Table 4) showed that a specific pure line with high values for all traits not found; but desirable pure lines in terms of phenological traits, stem diameter, number of pods per plant, plant height and seed yield were observed. Line No. 20 (ILL590) with large leaf length, high numbers of pods per plant, more stem diameter, fewer days to flowering and maturity and high seed yield known as the superior line on weather conditions of Shahrekord, Iran. • 4. The Fear Of Death In The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Stalker Nature, a beautiful yet mysterious part of life that all humans can interpret in different ways. Thanks to the nature around us, man has been able to fortify what we have and advance in unimaginable ways. For as long as man has been on earth, inhabitants have been able to explore, interpret, and learn in areas like religion, relationships and educational advancement. However, the constant fear of death is always in the back of our minds. With so many advances today, it distracts many of us from noticing where things all began and came from, nature. That is why, man has created so many different advances that help us forget our inevitable end. In the Epic of Gilgamesh and the movie Stalker written by Andrei Tarkovski, both works remind audiences of how people have always used technology to distract us from the thought of dying. These distractions like, religion, relationships, education do occupy a huge portion of our life but cannot change our end result; death. A huge advancement in technology is relationships. No matter what the relationship is between humans have been building for centuries. These relationships that are created help advance us by disguising our Deaths. Death is something that people have feared since the beginning of time. In the Epic of Gilgamesh , the main character is a widely loved and also feared. The relationships Gilgamesh created helped him build up his city, protect his people from intruders, and find a best friend. However, his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Society s ideological constructs and attitudes towards minority groups are created and reinforced through media imagery. Although negative associations that maintain inequities with regard to race, gender and homophobia (Conner Bejoian, 2006) have been somewhat relieved, disability is still immersed in harmful connotations that restrict and inhibit the life of people with disabilities in our society. Disability has appeared frequently in recent films (Byrd Elliot, 1988), a reflection of society s interest in the subject. These films often misrepresent disability using stereotypes. These stereotypes reinforce negative and incorrect social perceptions of, and attitudes towards, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whenever he tries to escape (usually to the water tower), he is ultimately returned back to this position of subordination under the care of others, which is typical of this stereotype (Hayes Black, 2003). A most common stereotype depicted of disabled characters is that of a super man (Safran, 2000) or supercrip (Harnett, 2000), where a disabled character overcomes massive odds to beat or succeed in defeating their disability to become normal . The character is often seen as a hero to have made such progress. Although Arnie does not reflect a hero status, his character is beating his disability by the very fact that he is still alive. In the opening scenes of the movie, Gilbert s narration lets the audience know that doctors said we d be lucky if Arnie lived to be ten, well ten came and went (Matalon, Ohlsson, Teper Hallström, 1993), implying Arnie s triumph over tragedy . He defies death that would be otherwise be brought about by his disability. Although not a thematic stereotype reinforced throughout this whole film, it is typical of a disabled character to be represented as a victim or object of violence (Safran, 2000). At the climax of the film, Gilbert s overwhelming frustration and anger of his life situation overflows into a violent episode directed at Arnie. • 6. Community Policing And The Neighborhood Watch Program One advantage of community policing is forming neighborhood watch programs which benefit both police and citizens. Citizens and police work together to discourage criminal behavior and find solutions to crime (Take Action, n.d.). Neighborhood watch entails educating members on security and suspicious behaviors such as a person screaming for help, strange noises, a person looking in cars widows, strangers in cars talking to children and property being taken out of a house when the resident is not home. Neighborhood watch members are not vigilantes as they help police by looking out for suspicious occurrences and then report it to law enforcement (Neighborhood Watch, 2015). In my community Neighborhood Watch keeps drug dealers from selling drugs in the lobby s and building grounds. The sale and use of drugs had previously accumulated a large amount of violence which has been largely reduced or eliminated by community policing and the Neighborhood Watch program. Another advantage of community policing is social media as it gives police and citizens a way to send and receive information to one another with a much broader range than neighborhood watch; which is only limited to a specific community. When police are looking for an offender he or she can reach a nationwide audience by tweeting and/or posting it on his or her social media page so that followers can repost the offender s information and/or give any helpful information to police to apprehend the offender ... • 8. CPG Boot Camp Observation Report Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the 2017 CPG Boot Camp that will cover From Economic Challenges to Transformation Opportunities. I believe the title is appropriate as challenges must be thought of as opportunities. Currently I serve as rector at a nearly 150 year old multi generational parish with an ASA of 52 in a rural town of approximately 5000 people. Similar to other small rural towns in the south there are multiple churches in the area. While there are multiple opportunities for worship, none of the churches are at seating capacity for their services each week. This observation creates a belief that I would be able to reach without difficulty new members for St. Luke s, creating growth opportunities in the congregation. ... • 9. Science And Its Impact On Science Essay Science is an ordered study of the global facts that involves keen observation, analyses and the use of experiment to certify the researched facts. Science can also be defined as the orderly wits that are obtained through observation and even through the research and experiments. In the field of philosophy, science is defined as the approach or the methodology used to test the philosophical hypothesized statements about nature and other related matters of life. Science interacts differently with various topics such as theory, presupposition, prediction, causation, correlation, probability, possibility and even the impossibility. The various elements have different roles in science which are going to be evaluated in the paper. The theory is one of the most important aspects of science; are the backbone of science. From the definition of science, we have seen that it is a systematic manner of generating knowledge. Theories help to elaborate the observed phenomenon regarding what is known; they predict the unknown, and in the end, they come up with a conclusion or a new format of the situation. Theories also help to show the scope of the observed conditions as well as interactions of the situation with other entities. Therefore, theory plays the role of enabling of the formulation of hypothesis in science which are later tested using the systematic approach to science. • 10. A Comparsion of the Bhagavad Gita vs The Gospels Essay Coming from a western culture, it is easy to familiarize with the Gospels over any other written text. In order to get a different perspective on the outlook of life, it is better to compare the Gospels to another written text. A text that is an excellent candidate to stand up next to the Gospels is the Bhagavad Gita (or just the Gita). These two texts can depict similarities and differences between the two cultures presented: Christianity and Hinduism. Keeping an open mind when reading cultural texts is what makes the texts more interesting and informs the reader more clearly. The analysis between one western text and one non western text can really widen the perspective of one person. Due to the fact that Krishna from the Gita seems to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the messages is to basically love God more than anything and put him before everything. The verse of Matthew 22:37 states that: Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all Thy heart, with all Thy soul, and with all Thy might. Likewise, the Gita says, Keep your mind on me, be my devotee, sacrificing, bow to me you will come to me, I promise, for you are dear to me (Gita 155). Clearly the meanings behind both these quotes are the same but just worded differently. Krishna and Jesus constantly emphasize certain aspects that are similar to the other person s teaching. This goes to show that even though Hinduism and Christianity are two separate cultures with two different scriptural texts and two different religions, the idea and meaning behind both of these religions are closely related. No matter how different the two religions may appear to be, the meaning behind their scriptures is what really defies their religion. Just because the two religions believe in different deities doesn t mean that the deities aren t teaching the exact same thing. It s just that the two religions have different ways of teachings their followers and the teachings are slightly worded differently, so this is where many people fall into the trap by thinking that the meanings from the two scriptures are different and unique. Morality is the principles concerning the distinction between right and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both the field of Aeronautics, flight within the Earth s atmosphere, and Astronautics, flight outside of the Earth s atmosphere, where referenced in the process of research to grasp an understanding of the conditions of the jobs of Aerospace pilots. The research questions are: Are pilots in the aerospace industry affected by their jobs overtime? What is the difference in conditions between commercial pilots and jet pilots? What conditions do astronauts have to undergo? How does G Force affect the human body? How does zero gravity affect the human body? In order to investigate this idea much research was conducted on the conditions in which a pilot would undergo as both an airplane pilot and a spacecraft pilot. The research was more so aimed at how these conditions had an effect on the human body and why this was the case. In order to come to an accurate conclusion I analyzed research from primary sources such as official government websites, similar studies, interviews conducted personally with various types of pilots, and personal hands on experiences of my own as a passenger in an aircraft. This can be seen particularly in the use of the infancy narratives which tell the well known Christmas story, in Catholic religious groups today individual parishioners, churches and Catholic Education institutions. The text is used and heavily relied upon to inform believers and those wishing to gain insight into the Catholic religion, on the faith. It is therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He came into the world to work along side the poor, the rich, the healthy, the sick, the good and the bad. Examples of this are shown in stories such as that of Jesus and Zacchaeus, the sinful tax collector (Luke 19) and the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30 37). These gospel stories are used today to show how Jesus love and compassion flowed through to all man kind and that it was not reserved for any favoured groups or individuals. Luke is demonstrating to his audience the universality of Jesus and that salvation is offered to everyone. Mason (2009), indicates it is very unlikely that Luke or Matthew was an eyewitness to Jesus life and that they relied upon other sources to formulate their gospels. Therefore, as previously discussed, it is imperative that the infancy narratives be viewed as separate stories and not one historically accurate recount. This is, in large part, due to the discrepancies and conflicting information readers are presented with. An example of these conflicts has been previously discussed, in both texts providing differing genealogies at the discussion of Jesus birth. Matthew traces Jesus blood line back to that of Abraham and King David, whereas Luke aligns Jesus heritage as far back as Adam. These conflicting accounts, as aforementioned, are for differing purposes and convey different messages to the reader. Matthew s purpose is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gootenberg documents the lore of the Andean coca leaf, the birth of cocaine as a medical commodity, the early twentieth century decline cocaine, and its reemergence as a global illicit good following World War II. The commodity chain of coca and cocaine began with the extraction of alkaloidal cocaine from the dried Andean coca leaf. This discovery by German doctoral student Albert Niemann would soon transform cocaine into a world drug commodity. Initially, cocaine was essential as a high value medical commodity. Medical uses of cocaine included treatment of opiate addiction, hay fever, asthma, or other respiratory ailments. Cocaine s greatest medical impact in the United States was as a local anesthetic during surgery. In Europe, cocaine s commodity chain was defined by the coca elixir Vin Mariani developed by Corsican physician and chemist Angelo Mariani. Cultivated by Peruvian and Bolivian peasants living in the Andean Mountains, the coca leaf would be dried and shipped to the United States or Europe for refining. Due to the herb s ... • 16. The Theory Of Needs Theories And How An Individual s... Motivation is the influence or drive for an individual to perform a specific act. In the past many theorists have scrutinised the concept of needs theories and how an individual s human behaviour works in order for them to be motivated. However it has also been a very heavy topic considering different theorists have judged one another s perception on the notion of motivating factors. In the past centuries, theorists have critically analysed the ways in which individuals are best motivated. A well known psychologist Maslow (1943) believed that there are five levels of needs in order for an individual to be fully motivated. His focus is more on the positive needs of employees. From the Bottom of the pyramid comes the physiological needs or in other words basic needs, which consist of necessities such as food, water, health and things that any human starts with. He stresses on the notion of homeostasis as part of these needs, the body s automatic efforts to maintain a constant, normal state of the bloodstream (Maslow 1943,p.270). When satisfied, they tend to search for safety needs; these can be considered as job security. Such acts are moving from a job to a much safer one or even one that have long term contracts. People will then look at the next level of social needs, to be ultimately recognised by others, and to just fit in the workforce. The next level is the esteem needs, to feel good about ones self, and to be praised by those higher on the organisational hierarchy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Epic theater s purpose is to cause the audience to think objectively about the play, to reflect on its argument, to understand it, and to draw conclusions ( Epic Theater ). Therefore, for a work to be categorized as epic theater it must have an argument or main idea. For example, in Life of Galileo Galileo says, A man who doesn t know the truth is just an idiot, but a man who knows the truth and calls it a lie is a crook and Shutting their eyes to every fact and pretending nothing has happened (Brecht). It seems that the political structure within the play advocates for the ignorance of people even though they are faced with the truth, and that is one of the political ideas that Brecht is trying to convey with Life of Galileo. Specifically the characters that represent ignorance of the truth are Clavius and Cardinal Barberini, because they are confronted with and acknowledge Galileo s truth while still forbidding it to be taught. They are the antithesis of Galileo and the ideas he represents. While Galileo represents truth, they represent ignorance of truth. Because truth is such a broad and universal theme, Life of Galileo has been adapted a few times in order to fit into different time periods and political environments. Because of this, Life of Galileo is allowed to have a subtly different theme with each adaptation. In order to be able to differentiate the ideas associated with Galileo and the character of Galileo himself, Brecht has to alienate the audience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Steal The Baudelaire The Art Of Creativity When individuals ask about creativity, typically they have pre conceived notion of what is creativity. Studies from Business insider claims that school are trying to limit creativity by forcing classes that are little to no interest to students. Those who ponder the idea about what is truly creative are individuals who can be reason with. The art of creativity is one s own perspective; what one accepts as ludicrous other might believe to be brilliant. A ted talk by Sir Ken Robinson s proven this statement by using a child who fidgets a lot as an example of how most saw her as ill, but actually she s a talented dancer who later on became a prodigy in ballet. The Baudelaire children are a prime example of how endless classes can all be useless if your ability to adapt are adequate. If they even spend a fraction of their studying time for a creative class, then their lives wouldn t always be in danger and fending for themselves in reality would be easier. When Count Olaf trapped them inside a burning hospital, voilet didn t notice and came up with a plan last second that almost costed her sibling their lives. • 19. The Timeless Quality of the Foundations of Excellent... Foundations of Excellent Leadership Are Timeless Introduction It is often said that a manager is what one does and leader is who one is. This is especially the case during times of turbulent economic, social and political change. In the debate of whether the effectiveness of a leader s communication skills is dependent on their age or generation, one must take into account one of the most critical skills in any leaders skill set, and that is emotional intelligence (EI) (Avolio, Yammarino, 2002). Great leadership is timeless as it is predicated on respect and motivation of subordinates and peers and subordinates, along with a very clear focus on results attained through shared vision. It is the intent of this analysis to show that transformational leadership is timeliness because it is predicated on principles applicable to each generation. The impact of technology on leadership is to accelerate transparency and trust across entire organizations when transformational leaders are driving progress to shared goals and objectives (Bernoff, Li, 2008). Technology will amplify excellent leadership and shine a very bright light on mediocre and inferior leadership over time (Gilley, Dixon, Gilley, 2008). Analysis Of Transformational Leadership Across Generations The core, foundational elements of transformational leadership are more predicated on Emotional Intelligence (EI), charisma, communication and collaboration capacity than any topically driven or short term attribute ... The Dangers Of Farm In George Orwell s Animal Farm Most believe when George Orwell wrote Animal Farm he was trying to warn us about several thing, some of those things include communism, revolution, and class divide. He shows the dangers of revolution by remind us how some revolutionions just end up being a switch a power to someone worse. And he reminds us about the dangers of class divide by have a big ruling class destroy all others. George Orwell wrote Animal Farm to remind us the dangers of communism, revolution, and class divide. One of the main reasons Orwell wrote this book is to show us the dangers of communism. Overall it s blatantly obvious the whole book is just a big diss on communism by having historical events line up to the ones in the book. Even the animals ideology is called, Animalism. In the book an animal named Old Major gave a speech on the principles of Animalism in which Old Major stated, Now, comrades, what is the nature of this life of ours? Let us face it: our lives are miserable, laborious, and short. and Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals (Animal Farm Pg. 3) . This kind of talk sounds awfully similar to the teachings of Marx and Lenin the same people who eventually influenced and stared the russian revolution which would lead the the creation of the U.S.S.R thenceforth 20 million dead. Furthermore, it seems that Orwell was trying to compare some of his character to notorious communists so that he could warn us. That is one way Orwell was trying to warn us in Animal Farm. Another thing Orwell was trying to warn us in Animal Farm is the dangers of revolution. See, most revolutions have a change of power from one bad person to a worse person. For over a decade, studies have made major contributions to the disorder s etiology; however, scientists are still unclear of its specific causal. While it was important to locate the specific cause of the disorders manifestations, it seemed that the most effective results would be achieved by a collective approach. This kind of approach would encompass ideas placed forth by both the cognitive and neurological theoretical ideas which currently existed in the current research of the etiology of dyslexia. The phonological deficit hypothesis of dyslexia is one of the most long standing explanations existing in psychological research. The theory was coined by a man known as the father of dyslexia, Pringle Morgan in 1896. Morgan viewed reading as a process that critically involved the segmentation of text into graphemes (1). These graphemes served as the earliest precursors to phonemes (the small unit of language), such that grapheme to phoneme conversion is equivalent to the whole sound of a word (1), (5). The process is said to both require that a reader assemble and address a word s phonology. Dyslexics are said to have phonological deficits which caused phonemic representation difficulties; they would often fare worse than others when it came to mapping sounds into letters in the brain, and with phonemic recall (1,5). Deficits in dyslexics ability to retain short term word memory and problems with segmentation of words into phonemes (e.g., auditory discrimination), lent support to these ideas (5). While he is dying, he vividly imagines his escape, the one thing that urges him on is the thought of his family. White Heron, by Sarah Orne Jewett follows a girl named Sylvia who lives in a small country home with her grandmother. She has a simple life: walking with her cow and hanging out with the forest creatures. However, when a young hunter arrives on the scene with a very alluring offer, Sylvia is faced with a tough decision. The setting of the short story, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge , is in northern Alabama during the Civil War. The short story, A White Heron , takes place in New England during the summer on a farm. Throughout the short stories both Jewett and Bierce, describe the similar scenes a pond, a forest, and a faint sunlight. One similarity between the short stories is both take place by some sort of water. Peyton was near a stream when he was shot and decided to tried another method of escaping. The humming of the gnats that danced above the eddies of the stream, the beating of the dragon flies wings, the strokes of the water spiders legs, like oars which had lifted their boat all these made audible music. A fish slid along beneath his eyes, and he heard the rush of its body parting the water (Bierce 1505). This quote describes a stream that was nearby Peyton. Schatz s father insisted that he reads to Schatz. Schatz s father stayed with Schatz and read to him for a while. In the story A Day s Wait it says, I read aloud from Howard Pyle s Book of Pirates; but I could see he was not following what I was reading, (Hemingway 300 301). This quote shows that Schatz s father read to Schatz even though Schatz was not following along. On the contrary, the boy from Stolen Day wants more attention from his mother. In the story Stolen day it says, She was pretty busy that day and hadn t paid much attention to me. She had made me get into bed upstairs and then hadn t even come up to see how I was, (Anderson 307). This quote shows the boy wanted more attention from his mother, because he said his mother had not paid attention to him. Another difference between the two stories is Schatz was truly sick while the boy was not. The doctor came to Schatz s house and gave him medicine so he would get better. However, the boy from Stolen Day only thinks he had inflammatory rheumatism because he wants an excuse as to why he can go fishing instead of going to school, (Anderson 307 308). • 38. Torture And Dehumanization Of The Holocaust And Abu Ghraib Torture and Dehumanization in the Holocaust and Abu Ghraib Throughout time, torture has been used as a cruel war tactic to exploit human beings and dehumanize the characteristics that give people their identities outside of prison walls. In Rena s Promise: A Story of Sisters in Auschwitz, Rena Kornreich tells her own accounts of the torture she experienced by both men and women during World War II. Similarly, Coco Fusco sheds light on the use of torture by women in the United States Abu Ghraib military scandal in A Field Guide for Female Interrogators. While in very different time frames, a female victim and a female liberator seamlessly tie together the antics that have been experienced and performed in war by thousands of men and ... The dog reaches her throat. Cemented before my eyes, never to rest, is her spirit as it departs, separated from her body by a dog s jaws on her neck. (Macadam, 197). The dog is then praised as it returns to the Nazi woman and licks the innocent bloodshed from its paws. This killing displays the ruthlessness executed by Nazi women, as well as the pleasure they seemed to take from taking lives of the innocent. Not only did the soldier inflict physical torture, but psychological torture to those who had to witness and hear the death of their comrade. This directly affected Rena in that she was instructed to carry the girls body back to camp; every step I take, her cries tear my soul. (Macadam, 198). In comparison to Rena s Promise, Coco Fusco delves into the use of female soldiers in the Iraqi Abu Ghraib prison scandal in the early 2000s. Female interrogators were depicted in widely circulated photographs whose sexualized humiliation of prisoners has come to symbolize the utter breakdown of any pretense the US may have once had to being a guardian of democratic values (Fusco, 19). Specifically, several photographs of female soldiers Lynndie England and Sabrina Harman surfaced showing them giving thumbs up and smiling over the battered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Characteristics Of Kona Coffee Kona coffee As unique as it gets What is Kona and what makes it so unique? It s a coffee that s grown in the North and South Kona districts of Hawaii. The Kona districts in Hawaii is a two mile long stretch of land which contains over 600 coffee farms; and this district is often referred to as the Kona coffee belt Here are the reasons that make Kona coffee the most unique coffee region on the planet. The number one reason is the low altitude. Usually coffee is grown at 5000+ feet and the Kona coffee grows in places that range from 800 ft. to 2300 ft. One of the reasons that this happens is because clouds settle over the crops in the afternoon and thus provide a natural shade for the coffee protecting it from the hot sun in Hawaii. Reason number two is the steep volcanic slopes which create ideal drainage system for the rain and all of this delivers conditions that resemble much higher elevations in other parts of the world. ... The motto assumed to be written and approved by the donor and honors boards is an attempt to inspire college students through a short phrase. It s safe to say the people on these boards have good hearted motives in writing a phrase they believe will drive honors students to have an unstoppable drive to produce a positive change in the world. Aspiring to be a phrase vague enough to make students want to find the solution for climate change, cure cancer, and end world hunger; while also being a phrase that is powerful enough to make students feel like they have the power to change serve the world, the motto attempts to reach near impossible heights. It not only needs to reflect and satisfy what the donors and board are trying to do but also accomplish the goals of the University s Honors College as well, so that money continues to flow into programs like the Honors College, but the programs can also carry out their objectives. Within the first couple hours of being in Desperation, both his sister, father, and mother were murdered. Although this is immensely tough, he tried to prevent this from happening to others. For example, he risked his life to find another person. He stated, I can find him. He s close...I m supposed to find him (King 596). David was courageous in this moment because he knew the risks and still went out to find John Marinville. This action speaks volumes about David s character and the overall theme. For example, David knew he could face a similar fate as his family, but he fought against the demon. Instead of fearing what Tak might do, he focused on helping others and escaping. • 42. Large Urban Cities In America Problem Statement Global Warming is quickly becoming a growing issue for large urban cities in America. As we expand our urban areas with the growing population, cities use more energy for air conditioning, water, and lighting (). Although air conditioning is powered by electricity, many urban cities rely on the combustion of coal for energy (). Combustion of coal emits CO2 and deadly gases into the atmosphere which leads to Global Warming (). Buildings in urban areas use conventional roofs as their main aesthetics. Conventional roofs are generally comprised of tar and gravel. On hot summer days, conventional rooftops can be 27 50°C hotter than the surrounding air temperature. This happens because the albedo of tar and gravel is extremely low which allows for the sun s energy to be absorbed instead of reflected (). The increased temperature leads to urban heat islands (). Increasing higher albedo surfaces on roofs will result in more reflection of solar energy away from the urban areas (). Rooftops covered in plants, also known as Green Roofs have grown popular tremendously in the last decade. These rooftops are covered in natural greenery like small trees, bushes, flowers, grass, etc. Green roofs are cost effective way to solve many problems with global warming in urban areas (). Gender Inequalities Of Workforce And Gender Inequality Arianna Khoubeserian Mr. Parker Sociology 101 February 1 2017 Gender Inequalities in Workforce Over the years it has become evident that women face far more significant barriers in the workforce than men do. A clear representation of this barrier is established by the gender pay gap, which is the difference in monetary amount received between a woman s and a man s average weekly earnings. The economy, as a social institution, is affected by gender and sex inequality. The idea of inequality in the workplace is central to explaining wage disparities and is a crucial factor that intervenes between a person s human capital. Conflict theory declares that social problems occur when dominant groups, which are the men in the workforce, mistreat subordinate ones such as the women, and thus advocates for a power imbalance between genders . Marx viewed the society in two parts, the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. In this social phenomenon, the men represent the people who control all the power and the women represent the people who are being controlled. Men and women are constantly in the battle to obtain the most factors of production, yet men seem to have an unfair advantage due to their gender. For example during job interviews, some questions may revolve around what gender the applicant is. Women are more likely asked about their duties outside of home or if they are expecting to have children. Singeling women out by suggesting they would need times to miss work especially due to maternity leave, portrays women as not being the best fit for the job. They begin to feel vulnerable and not capable of handling the job. Some conflict theorists believe that the reason these roles continue is because the dominant group naturally works to maintain their power and status though the less powerful group and this becomes habitualized in society. Also conflict and inequality are developed by the unequal distribution of social capital. This imbalance of resources creates conflict within men and women because women will strive to achieve more as men try to bring them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are entrusted by our profession, colleagues, and other healthcare providers to act professionally and put the interest of our patient first when providing rehabilitation intervention. In this discussion assignment, I will be sharing with you the ethical challenges that I encounter as a physical therapist (PT) in the intensive care unit (ICU) while providing an early mobilization program and also this is a Segway to my project titled Evidence based Approach to the Benefits of Early Mobilization in the Intensive Care Unit: An Education In Service. S42) supports the idea of early referral to physical therapy to improve the patient s cardiopulmonary function, improve muscle strength and endurance that may have an impact in optimizing the overall functional capacity of the patient. Fortunately, physical therapy consult is part of a standing order in the ICU. The ICU physician notifies the patient, and in situations where the patient is not cognitively appropriate, a family member will be notified for rehabilitation intervention. Therefore, no further legal documentation needed such as informed consent. Since this project does not involve the use of patient s name or specific identifiers, patient confidentiality and privacy are preserved. Concerning the formal process to remain ethical and legal, I was able to assist in the creation, and implementation of an acute care and ICU competency skills checklist to warrant PTs including myself working in the ICU, to be competent and skilled. • 46. The Legal Drinking Age Of The United States The Legal Drinking Age The legal drinking age in the United States is 21, while in other countries the legal age ranges from 16 18. The argument in the United States is, Should the United States lower its drinking age? There are many sides to this argument but research has given many good points to back up both sides of the question. First issue is the difference between a teen s brain with alcohol and an adult s brain with alcohol. Another concern is that drinking at a younger age can help teach culture. Lastly, the more alcohol that people are exposed to, there is an increase in death rate. I believe that it is a good idea to keep the legal drinking age at age 21 because in our past we have had many problems with increased deaths due to the drinking age being at different ages. My research used uses pathos, logos, ethos and kairos to help persuade the reader that 21 should stay the legal drinking age. First, one reason the drinking age is 21 is because the United States Mothers Against Drunk Driving program wants to make sure a teen s brain develops to maturity in order for them to be able to drink alcohol. The argument that congress had in the 70 s was, If young Americans could be entrusted to vote, serve on a jury and fight in Vietnam, why couldn t they order a beer? (Griggs). If Americans are allowed to vote, fight in the wars and serve on jury all at the age of 18, what is the difference in them being able to go out and buy some alcohol? This side of the argument ...
