An Anti Apartheid Movement During The Boer War
Despite the fact that the black majority was silenced by the Nation Party, the government at the time,
they were able to explore the flaws in the set government system and exchange their thoughts to free
the people. They also encountered many difficulties during this process, but with time and
consideration foundations were placed to get them out of their segregational government. Laws were
set that prohibited any expansion for the majority, but that never stop them from creating different anti
apartheid groups that would open a way to get out of the problem that they faced every single day.
People had to go through horrible times as they went on with their lives day in and day out, and the
process of destroying the Apartheid. As the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first one was the Mines and Works Act of 1911, that limited black from obtaining high paying
jobs. Next, was the Natives Lands Act of 1913 which forced ten percent of blacks to become reserves.
This law also prohibited blacks from owning lands outside of said reserves. The third act that was put
into action was the Native Affairs Act of 1920, and this created a system of tribally based but still
governmental appoint councils. The last act that was passed and laid the foundation for the Apartheid
was the Natives Urban Areas Act of 1923 and this controlled how often blacks were able to visit the
towns in the country of South Africa. As the National Party was gaining their strength, and the current
government form was being manipulated, the National Party began to dominate the white elections.
They were powerful enough to take out the current prime minister and were fully elected into office.
Their president was D.F. Malan, and his goals were to restrict the British from going into the country
and to use the Afrikaners to their advantage. They never wanted to set apartheid onto the blacks, but to
just control or subjugate them. As their power grew, they began to realize that they could actually take
over the country and make it their own in a way. After a while, when the black majority began to
understand what was going on, the National Party announce Apartheid on them and started to pass
laws that restricted the majority. After the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Brother Dean

Rhetorical Analysis on Brother Dean
Brother Dean is a campus preacher that is talking about controversial topics like rape, feminism, and
gay people. He uses the bible to back up the statements that he makes. Brother Dean walks around the
campus of the University of Arizona wearing shirts with the statements you whore and signs that say
you deserve rape . He is walking around and essentially slut shaming women because he states that
they get raped because they wear revealing clothes. The day that he was being filmed by Vice was the
release of Brave Miss World, a movie about a women named Linor Abargil who was abducted,
stabbed and raped weeks before she won a pageant . He was protesting the release of the film ... Show

He does not talk in long speeches about his beliefs because a lot of the students on campus do not
have the time to stop and listen to him. Instead he talks really fast and attempts to persuade people to
believe in his statements as they pass by. His preachings are mostly based on christianity and the bible.
He never uses anything else to back his believes besides the bible. Brother Dean is using the bible as a
weapon to persuade others to join him, proving that he is cultured.
The reason Brother Dean is going on campus and preaching is so that he can get people to convert. As
Nissi Powell, a student on campus said, he is only trying to get people s attention with his remarks. He
is doing it in a wrong way because a lot of people do not respond well when they are being attacked
with words. He could have tried a more effective way to get people to listen to him if he talked about
the religion itself. He could have mentioned what a day in mass was like or passages from the bible
that were positive. Due to his strident approach, he has caused chaos and violence towards him.
People have started to rip his shirt, throw away his signs, and has had a smoothie thrown at him. His
hobby has had a lot a controversy but some women do agree with him like his friend Sarah. She
claims that women put themselves in situations without needing to be there. She also states that she
agrees with everything brother Dean

Just Poverty In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson
In our country, hundreds of people are apprehended every day for misdemeanors crimes. Our local
justice system will then charge these individuals with fines that can be as much as $2,000 or more.
Failure to pay this said fine can immediately result in potential jail time. Yet, if you can pay your bail,
you will spend no more than 24 hours in a local facility. Many of these people are poor, while the
remainder of these people tends to be middle to upper class citizens.
The 14th Amendment is set in place to protect citizens from being denied the equal protection of the
laws . This statement requires all branches of government to treat everyone equally. In Just Mercy,
Bryan Stevenson shares stories about the unjust treatment many of his clients received at the hands of
the American Justice System. Many of which were poor, lower class citizens who had committed a
crime. All of which were charged wrongfully.
Bryan Stevenson was a lawyer based out of Montgomery, Alabama. He helped many of these people
get an honest, fair sentence. Through the publication of his book, he has educated many on the reality
of our prison systems in America. He shares his firsthand accounts of children being charged as adults,
innocent men being charged for crimes they had clearly not had any involvement with, and women
living in poverty being charged with murder for burying their stillborn children. All of these cases had
one thing in common: poverty.
Poverty is defined as the state of being

Phos Research Paper
Partially hydrogenated oils have been used by manufacturers for years. The FDA has decided to
remove PHOs from all manufacturers due to extensive research into the effects of PHOs. Partially
hydrogenated oils have been determined not to be GRAS, generally recognized as safe (Center).
Although the FDA had decided that PHOs are unhealthy many sources say that fats are needed for
body functions. In high amounts fats are going to be bad for the body but, with any type of food that is
the case and it is the job of the consumer to watch their eating habits. PHOs have a purpose of why
manufacturers use them and even though they are said to lower cholesterol but, that s not the whole
truth. The FDA s decision that Partially Hydrogenated Oils are unsafe is another unnecessary health
food regulation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fatty acids in the oil then absorb some of the hydrogen and becomes more dense. If the manufacturer
were to fully hydrogenate the oil, it would become a solid, basically a fat. When the hydrogenation
process is stopped half way, this is when it becomes partially hydrogenated oil. PHO s are a butter
substitute and have the same consistency(Armstrong). What complete hydrogenation of fats does is
turn healthful unsaturated fats into fully saturated fats. This is the equivalent to regular, saturated,
animal fat and since this animal fat and complete hydrogenation is essentially the same this doesn t
work. The solution was partially hydrogenated oils so that some of the unsaturated molecules would
remain and the product would remain healthy ( The

The State Of California Governing Bodies Essay
The State of California Governing Bodies The California Postsecondary Education Commission was
granted puissant duties and powers in 1974, after replacing the Coordinating Council for Higher
Education (Education Commission of the States, 2016). The commission does not serve as a
governing board but as an advisory committee to the House of Representatives, governor, and higher
education institutions, with matters paramount to education policies (Education Commission of States,
2016). The commission holds the authority to review state public and private higher education
institutions financial records, budgets, academic programs and provide recommendations for campus
expansions. However, the primary function of the commission is to coordinate practices that prevent
redundancy within the education divisions (Education Commission of States, 2016). The focus of the
commission is driven by the state s strategic work plan, for which goals are established targeting
institutional areas of concern. Members of the commission constitutes 16 people, 9 in which are
selected by the public, 3 appointed by the governor, 3 by the Senate Rules Committee and 3 by the
California Assembly speaker (Education Commission of States, 2016). A representative from the
University of California Boards of Regents, California State University Board of Trustees, California s
Community College, State Board of Education and California Independent colleges and universities

The book Napoleon by Paul Johnson is a monograph on the life of Napoleon. Napoleon was born on
August 15,1769 on an island called Corsica which was a French island south of the mainland.
Ironically his future enemy Duke of Wellington was also born in 1769. Napoleon was born in the
lower nobility class, and gifted with mathematics. He admired the Royal Navy and wanted to join as a
midshipman. At the age of ten, Napoleon left Corsica for a military school in Brienne, France. On
completion of his studies at Brienne in 1784, Napoleon was admitted to the elite military school in
Paris. He trained to become an artillery officer. His full height was five feet and five inches tall and
Napoleon was promoted to first lieutenant by 1791. Napoleon ... Show more content on

Napoleon somehow managed to sneak out of the island and escape back to paris. Troops and civilians
immediately began to rally in his return. Napoleon was declared an outlaw by rest of europe.
Napoleon then went of the offensive and attacked belgium, where the British and Prussian armies
were camped. The british and prussians defeated Napoleon for the last time and exiled him to St.
Helena where he would later die on May 5, 1821.
Paul Johnsons purpose for writing Napoleon is really to inform the reader. The book covers the main
things in his life from the day he is born to the day the dies. The author writes in chronological order
really showing what affected young Napoleon while growing up shaped him to be an excellent leader
and military expert. The book showed little insight into his personal life mostly ones military
campaign. The author really tells the life of Napoleon in only a couple hundred pages so I feel a lot of
details were missing. I think reading another monograph on Napoleon would be helpful to really
compare the difference between two different authors, and their approach they took for writing a
monograph.
The author really does fit a lot of information in this book. If you were someone who wanted to learn
about Napoleon, this is a book you can pick up and read in a short amount of time. While you will still
finish the book knowing almost everything you need to know about Napoleon. Some other

Degradation Of Immigrants
In light of the current situation having to do with the degradation of immigrants, legal or not in this
country, I have chosen an unwritten text that is close to my heart, the Mexican and American flags
combined to create a new one. It takes pieces of the Mexican flag like the eagle emblem and pieces of
the American flag like the stars and stripes to create a new vision of solidarity. I have seen this symbol
more often in the last year due to the current administration s policies and the many ways it seeks to
change the status of the immigrant population. This representation of unity was created for those who
feel a strong tie to both America and Mexico, for those who are proud to be a part of both countries
and who believe that the two nations

Religious Beliefs In Judaism
Judaism Beliefs Sacred Symbols
Beliefs
Judaism is one of the most traditional religions there are. It is under the Monotheistic religions,
meaning they are in the belief that there is a single G d, unlike other religions that believe in multiple
G ds. As well as Judaism, Christianity and Islam practise the monotheistic form.
There are many other things that the people of the Judaism religion believe in. Some of these include;
Prayer is to be directed to G d alone and to no other, the words of the prophets are true, Moses
prophecies are true, and Moses was the greatest of the prophets, The Written Torah (first 5 books of
the Bible) and Oral Torah (teachings now contained in the Talmud and other writings) were given to
Moses, there will be no other Torah, G d knows the thoughts and deeds of men, G d will reward the
good and punish the bad, the Messiah will come and also the dead will be resurrected. While Judaism
isn t the strictest of religions, they do still follow quite a strong list of beliefs and regulations.
The history behind the different beliefs that Jewish people have, and follow, all revolves around the
scriptures written in their holy book , the Torah. Some of the different beliefs that the Jewish people
have around G d, is that some of the Jewish people believe G d is an external force, that is someone
that exists outside of the universe who listens to prayers, and controls lives, creates miracles, and
judges. They however aren t in the belief that that

This is often much easier said than done. Gentrification works to change a space, often the result of an
urban revitalization (O Brian Szeman 274). Transforming the public space, of which often encroaches

Effective Classroom Interaction And Pupil Management
Assignment 1 Effective lessons in IT Classroom interaction and pupil management Meeting individual
differences Helping pupils learn Assessment The school curriculum and society What is an effective
teacher? An effective teacher is a pupil manager that can aid personalised learning and classroom
interaction. They are someone who meets individual s needs and reduces teacher dependency. They
understand the concepts of learning. The successful teacher cares, the successful teacher teaches well
and the successful teacher manages well (Marlands(1993, p.6 7). Graham et al. (2001) number one
principle for an effective teacher is to encourage student faculty contact. This stood out as it is a little
absurd compared to other lists and descriptions of what teachers should be. However it does make
sense, looking back at your school days you do associate a subject with a faculty and the efficiency of
that faculty, especially at GCSE, AS and A level stages when you rely on those faculties the most.
Graham et al. (2001) study showed that students that weren t responded to quickly would feel ignored
and faculty expectations would be decreased, showing a lack of trust and therefore wanting to learn by
the subject. One of the main arguments behind good understanding is the argument for independent
learning as opposed to teacher dependency. Overall Sangster (2007, p.94) state that one of the hardest
but most creditable achievements of a teacher is to help a student along the road to being

The Three Major Aspects Of Industrialization From 1865 To...
There are three major aspects of industrialization from 1865 to 1920 that influenced U.S. society,
economy and politics. These are urbanization, working conditions and laissez faire government.
Urbanization created cities who offered large numbers of workers for new factories. In turn, more
factories were built. Workers, both native born and immigrants, moved to cities looking for jobs.
Industrialism and post industrialism let to a decline in patriarchy within the family because of the
changes that were made to society.
The birth of the Industrial Revolution had one staggering advantage, even to the most distanced and
skeptical farmer: a living could be made that was not subject to climate changes. Therefore, a man
could actually be assured of regular, dependable wages. This did not, however, translate into a vast
emigration of farmers to the new cities. An economy based upon agriculture is altogether distinct from
an industrial one. The former is dependent upon the unpredictable elements of nature and the weather,
the consequences of which could lead to ruin and famine. Indispensable to this growth and
development were an unprecedented surge in immigration and urbanization after the Civil War.
American society was in transition. The industrial revolution meant more money and wealth for the
upper classes, especially the owners of large companies. It was thought that the wealth would be
invested back into new factories, so the Americans accepted this wealth distribution.

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is the collection of physical measurements in a
geographical area. It tracks the spatial average of the sensor measurements in a region. Since it is
highly vulnerable to sensor faults and measurement noise the average operation is not robust. In this
paper the proposed computational efficient method is used to compute a weight average of sensor
measurement. It takes consideration of sensor faults and sensor noise. WSN uses random projections
of sensor to compress data and send the compressed data to the data fusion center. The computation
efficient method uses the data fusion center for direct work with the compressed data stream. The
fusion center performed decompression at the time of computed weighted average. Thus, it reduces
the computational requirements. Hence the proposed method gives better accuracy and more efficient
for the WSN.

tolerance, data fusion, robust averaging.

The Pollution Of The San Joaquin Valley
The Water In The Valley. If the water is contaminated by the airborne pollutants, whether by
depositing through direct water surface contact or by depositing on land and being carried to water
bodies through run off, the residents will face problems. Once in the water, these pollutants can cause
the fish to poison people upon consumption, or the fish could die out. Harmful algal blooms could
occur; the water will become contaminated and unsafe to drink. This might seem like an exaggeration
but in the San Joaquin Valley, the threat is very real. One might say that the people of the San Joaquin
Valley may depend on water more than people elsewhere. The residents need water more because
many of them depend on having enough water for their jobs, not just for their consumption. Being one
of the top agricultural industries, the San Joaquin Valley residents need to have plenty of water for
their industry of choice, whether is be for watering their crops or keeping the cows food (grass) alive,
to ensure that they will be able to bring in profit to the valley and be able to feed themselves and their
families. One of the reasons why the San Joaquin Valley is highly susceptible to water contamination
is because of agriculture pesticides such as the nitrogen based fertilizer called nitrate. Nitrates, once
they ve entered the body, are converted to nitrites (Basic Info. About Nitrate in Drinking Water). If a

Dziga Vertov, one should feel obligated to mention similarities in the story, theme, style and,
technique, as well as their differences. Their execution of ideas as well as their artistic imprint forever

Battleship Potemkin follows a crew of a naval ship, which has been mistreated for the last time. The
crew mutinies against their superiors, sparking a revolution, which set in motion, unwanted

Organic Semiconductors Abstract
Organic semiconductors
Abstract:
This paper covers advantages of organic semiconductors over the conventional one s and also the use
of organic semiconductors and polymers to make OLED s and PLED s.
Introduction:
An organic semiconductor is an organic material with semiconductor properties. They can be divided
into single molecules, oligomers or polymers. Many organic materials are very colorful and these
materials interact very strongly with light. Due to this reason they are used in applications like light
emitting diodes and photo voltaic cells. Although these materials are not intended to replace silicon
based technologies, organic semiconductors can help to realize fully flexible devices for television
displays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. Production: organic materials can be produced with relative ease as compared to conventional
semiconductors as it does not involve the need of high temperatures which requires lot of energy.
6. Encapsulation: organic devices have to be protected from any kind of environmental influences.
Hence they are encapsulated in between two plastic foils other such materials also can be used to
protect them. [1]
Charge transport in organic semiconductors:
Various materials are available that transport either electrons or holes. This distinction does not rely on
the actual ability of materials to transport charges ( ie. On the actual value of charge mobility). But
rather reflects the ease of charge injection from electrodes traditionally used in devices. In that
context, a material is often referred to as a hole [electron] transporter when its ionization energy
[electron affinity] closely matches the Fermi level of the electrode material. Materials that transport
both electrons and holes are also available nowadays these materials are called ambipolar transport
materials.[2]
The charge transport in organic materials is similar to that in the conventional semiconductors, the
charge carriers (electrons or holes) have to overcome the barrier potential formed at the junction of
metal and the semiconductor. The carriers are then injected into the organic semiconductor layer.

Education Inequality In Thailand
Although gender and education inequality may be both gradually increasing while shifting up and
down throughout the years, the adult literacy rate in Thailand has only been increasing since 2000. In
2015, only about four percent of Thailand s citizens aged fifteen and over were illiterate. This ends up
positively contributing to a wide variety of social improvements, such as lower infant mortality rates
and higher education levels for future generations. This is because a parent who went to school and
learned to reads is more likely to do the same with their child, regardless of gender. The same goes for
length of education as well the more education they received, the more education they will likely
expect their child to experience.
As Thailand s globalization has increased very little over the years, another major developmental
indicator has also done the same. The World Bank shows Thailand s average citizen lifespan from
birth experiences a four year increase from 2000 to 2014, from 70 years to seventy four years. Another
improving factor for Thai citizens is the increasing health standards even after the 2014 military coup.
Thailand has ranked higher than the surrounding countries for births attended by a skilled staff
member since 2000 and beyond. This is a major indicator of Thai development, not only for health but
also for women s rights. From the year 2000 to 2012, Thailand s percentage ranged from 97.3% and
99.6% of births. In comparison, Laos highest percentage

The Practices and Processes Shaping Racism in British Society
The Practices and Processes Shaping Racism in British Society
The concept of racism is a relatively modern term that made its appearance in the 18th century. The
practices and processes that have helped shape racism in British society today must be looked at as a
series of ideologies, that have been built into British institutions and organisations as a consequence of
the historical contexts of colonialism and imperialism. However, ideas of race and differences between
races are rooted even earlier than this, even as far back in history as the 16th century. Even though
racism can operate on levels of both individual racism and institutional racism, it is the later that will
be looked at in this essay together with the historical context ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These goods were exchanged for slaves who where then taken on the second leg of the triangular
journey to the West Indies and Southern America where they were used to produce goods such as
cotton, tobacco, sugarcane and coffee. These slave produced goods were shipped back to Britain
where they were manufactured or refined, and either sold domestically or re exported (Ramdin 1987).
This growth of trade during the 16th and 17th century, brought about the establishment of the Colonial
Board in 1661, its objective was to decide how best to populate and work the colonies of the new
world. The political aspect of this was the increasing concern that emigration of white workers to the
colonies would eventually leave a shortage of cheap labour at home. The Royal Family gave its
patronage to the African slave trade in 1680 by the formation of the Royal African Company (Ramdin
1987). This move could be argued to be seen as giving legitimacy to the belief that the Africans where
more suited to labour than the white peoples, it could be argued that it is here that we see the first
signs of racism emerging in British society.
The 18th century saw a great change in moral and religious beliefs brought about by the period of the
enlightenment. From 1748, arguments arose against slavery. In 1758 the Quakers started to campaign
against slavery and were quickly joined by the Protestants. By 1783 anti slavery had become a
National political issue. This can in some part be

Case Study Of Enron, Worldcam, And Adelphia Communications
This case study was about different accounting company s that were investigated and charged with
making fraudulent documents and records with money. These different company s in this case study
were Enron, WorldCam, and Adelphia Communications (Ferrell, 2009). Enron was founded by former
CEO Kenneth Lay, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling and former CEO Andrew Fastow. Enron was one in
several other major corporations (most famous) accused of dirty dealings (Ferrell, 2009). Enron had
reported 111 billion in 2000. The Corporation collapsed in debt after it had been concealed through a
complex scheme of off balanced sheet partnership called mark to market. Mark to market accounting
is assets that are yet to be obtained based on the current market prices. Mark to market allowed Enron
to record future profits on books as present and ignoring sources of debt boosting the company s
revenue on paper (Ferrell, 2009). Enron Corporation was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and had
to lay off 4,000 employees and a thousand more lost their retirement savings that had been invested in
Enron stock. Later former chief financial officer Andrew Fastow was sentenced to six years in prison
in exchange for giving prosecutors important information (Ferrell, 2009). Jeffery Skilling was
sentenced to 24 years in prison and was ordered to pay back 45 million in restitution for his part in the
scandal. Kenneth Lay died before he could began serving his 20 30 year sentence in prison (Ferrell,
2009).

The Plight Of Women In The 1920 s
After the First World War, America entered into a golden age during the 1920s. As American soldiers
succeeded during the war, women felt more confident to push for social change at home because the
country had economic and political stability (Yalom). Following more than 70 years of women s
protests for change, the United States Congress and President Woodrow Wilson finally passed the
Nineteenth Amendment in 1919. With the right to vote, more women began to work outside of the
home in factories (Dumenil 112). Women s new role in the workforce challenged the traditional belief
that women belonged at home raising their families. However, women still faced difficulties when
joining the workplace, and few women had professional careers despite ... Show more content on

Before the twenties, women made soap at home, but it usually harmed the skin so people refused to
bathe frequently (Sivulka, Cleanliness 25 28). Soapmakers had previously only catered to the upper
class, but as soldiers returned from the First World War, middle class families bought more luxury
goods, like perfumes and soaps (Sivulka, Cleanliness 48). Advertisers had to convince housewives
that manufactured soap had better qualities than homemade soap because women refused to let a
company produce what they had traditionally made (Sivulka, Cleanliness 48). Advertisers convinced
women to purchase soap that had more fragrances and lotions because they could not produce soap
with those qualities at home (Sivulka, Cleanliness 48 49). Advertisements for fragrant and beautifying
soaps urged women to fit a gendered expectation of beauty and youthfulness that usually represented
an upper class status; middle class women wished to imitate the upper class because they thought if
they looked wealthy, then they would gain more wealth. In addition, advertising used traditional
images to persuade women to work in the house for their families. Soapmakers made specialized
soaps for certain purposes, like cleaning, to gain more consumers (Sivulka, Cleanliness 48). In their
advertising for these specialized products, soapmakers often used the image of a housewife to appeal
to the middle class female audience who bought and used these products (Sivulka, Soap 226 227).
With the image of a housewife next to a cleaning product, the target audience understood that only
women used the product. Soap advertisements conveyed the message that women belong at home in
order to properly care for their families while striving to remain as beautiful as

Subject: MSE320_lab_1 Fishing rod composites microstructure examination
Abstract:
In this experiment the main objective was going to look at the microstructure of the composites from
the fishing rod with in angle, transverse and longitudinal. By using the microscope and within
different scale to see the fiber and the epoxy. And will find out in different cut the effect to the volume
fraction, and to prove why transverse cut is the only option for the calculation
Introduction
Composites, is a material that made with two or more different material. People can see or use it
anytime, anywhere. Composite materials can provide different advantages from mixing different
materials, and usually combined metal (aluminum), polymers (epoxy) or ceramic (silicon). One of the
most common example for the composites will be fishing rod. Nowadays fishing rod usually make
with glass fiber/ carbon fiber and epoxy. Which glass fiber or carbon fiber are brittle but strong, and
epoxy can provide a high mechanical properties. Result of the fishing rod can be have a better
toughness, and lightweight. Because of that in this lab, the main objective is going to use the optical
microscopy and find out the fiber s alignment, the structure pattern and the mechanical properties
from the fishing rod.
Experiment:
In this lab, we were required to test multiple samples of the fishing rod, which they were already
polished. First we have to set up the computer

Interpreting The Matrix through Descartes’s Philosophy Essay
Many ancient philosophers, including Plato, explored metaphysics in relation to reality before
Descartes s in depth questioning of the subject. However, Descartes s views on mind/body dualism
differ greatly from Plato s. As Marleen Rozemond (author of Descartes s Dualism) points out, Plato
believes that the body is simply a vessel for the soul to use, while Descartes provides proof that the
body and soul are interconnected (172). One does not simply use the other; though they are separate,
the mind affects the body and the body affects the mind. Cartesian dualism tells us that although the
whole mind seems to be united to the whole body, I recognize that if a foot or arm or any other part of
the body is cut off, nothing has thereby been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes states that:
Once the foundations of a building are undermined, anything built on them collapses of its own
accord; so I will go straight for the basic principles on which all my former beliefs rested. Whatever I
have up till now accepted as most true I have acquired either from the senses or through the senses.
But from time to time I have found that the senses deceive, and it is prudent never to trust completely
those who have deceived us even once. (384)
Through questioning the knowledge he had always believed to be true, Descartes comes to realize that
many of his basic beliefs were founded on sensual knowledge. This leads him to question his very
existence, and eventually to search for unconditional proof of his existence
Christopher Falzon, philosophy lecturer and author of Philosophy Goes to the Movies and Philosophy
and The Matrix, points out that The Matrix employs Cartesian style skepticism in its attempt to
inundate the viewer in this cyber world ( Philosophy and the Matrix 99). This is seen in Neo s choice
between the red pill and blue pill in The Matrix, which can be likened to Descartes s employment of
the acid test. Neo, a computer hacker, is told that a man named Morpheus can tell him the meaning of
the Matrix, a term that Neo has encountered several times. Upon meeting Morpheus, Neo is given a
choice: he can take a blue pill which will make him forget about his quest to discover the meaning of
the Matrix, or he can

Social Causes Of The American Revolution
Through an examination of the social, cultural, economic and political causes of the American
Revolution, an exploration of key arguments both for and against the American Revolution, and an
analysis of the social, cultural, economic and political changes brought about by the American
Revolution it can be demonstrated unequivocally that the American Revolution was indeed truly
revolutionary.
By the time of the late 18th century, the colonies had grown socially, culturally, economically, and
politically setting the mood for a majority of the colonists to want to break ties with the mother
country. The colonies were well established, growing rapidly with new settlers arriving, and had
begun to interact and socialize with not only each other, but also the Indians and the French, with
whom they shared the new lands. These newfound social and cultural interactions allowed the
colonies to grow economically giving the colonists a sense of importance. The lack of recognition by
parliament started to plant the seeds for the revolution.
In the years leading up to the American Revolution, important economic changes took place within the
colonies as their economies transitioned from the previous subsistence farming and subsistence living
type of economies into true consumer economies. This shift toward a true consumerism society in the
colonies, also known as Anglicizing the colonies, began to make the colonies more uniform and began
to bring the colonies together into more of a

Civil Law And Common Law System
VIII lawyer in civil law and common law system
B lawyers in civil law systems
When students graduate from law school, if they want to get a license from law firm to practice law,
they have some conditions, but it is different from the common law system. Lawyers still represent the
interests of their clients in civil proceedings, but have a little central role, if we compare the common
law systems, however, their functions commonly contain advising clients on points of law and
preparing legal pleadings for filing with the court, but the importance of oral argument, in court
presentations and active lawyer in court are minimized when compared to a common law system.
Moreover, non litigation legal tasks, such as will preparation and contract drafting, may be left to
quasi legal professionals who serve businesses and private individuals, and who may not have a post
university legal education or be licensed to practice before courts. If the law student want to become
lawyer in civil law system is different from one country to another country. For example, in Iraq law
school students can become a lawyer after graduation from law school, but they have to participate in
training to get a license, they do not need to take any exam, but in some country that they have civil
law system , a lawyer have taken exam to get a license for example France.
Lawyer in Iraqi civil law system, in Iraq lawyer has different function if we compare with a common
law system when a lawyer hires by a

Aloe Ver The First Thing Most Of Us
Aloe vera, Latin name Aloe barbadensis, is likely the first thing most of us reach for when we arrive
home from an enjoyable day in the summer with a sunburn. However, Aloe vera has far more uses
then just to relieve pain from minor burns, it has been, and continues to be a valuable horticultural
crop. Aloe vera is a plant that is propagated through various means, be it vegetatively, asexually, or
even through the use of microproagation. Though, not all these methods of propagation are a
successful as the others. It is important to first examine the plant itself, before even considering
methods of propagation. Initially individual plants start more or less as a rosette and sucker and
elongate slightly in height to form a spready mound 1 to 3 tall; plants are medium coarse to coarse in
texture (Arnold, M., 2008). The form of the Aloe vera plant is likely very recognizable to anyone who
has spent a significant amount of time in Texas, or other states within the Southwest, Aloe vera has
short stout stems suckering at the base to form colonies of thickened, erect, sword like leaves (Arnold,
M., 2008). Though we do typically see this plant grown widely throughout our region, it likely calls
another, larger continent home. Thought to be native to North Africa, it is widely naturalized in South
and Central America as well as the Mediterranean region it is widely planted in South Texas and
Mexico (Arnold, M., 2008). While we do see the Aloe vera plant widely within our USDA

Comparing A P and An Ounce of Cure Essay
Comparing A P and An Ounce of Cure
If a reader is given two short stories, two stories that are seemingly different on the surface, to read
and compare and contrast, a surprising amount of similarities and differences can be found. Unless
they deal with the same subject matter, most short stories aren t really related, until some analysis is
done. The stories A P, by John Updike, and An Ounce of Cure, by Alice Munro, are very similar but
very different. One of the mot important similarities between these two stories is the problems the
opposite sex causes for the main character. In A P, Sammy, the main character, quits his job because he

In An Ounce of Cure, the main character and her mother have to use and ounce of cure to try and
make up for the main character s mistakes. If only an ounce of prevention had been used, there
wouldn t have been any of those horrible problems that arose. These two stories are also very
different. The main difference is that Sammy takes less dramatic measures to resolve his problems
than the girl in An Ounce of Cure. Sammy only quits his job. Since he is young and it is summer time,
he shouldn t have any problems finding another job. The girl in An Ounce of Cure, however, takes far
more drastic measures to solver her problems. She tries to kill herself, gets drunk, and endangers the
lives of the two young children that she supposed to be watching. Another difference is that An Ounce
of Cure has far less detail in it than in A P. An Ounce of Cure is much longer, but much more
straightforward. It gives the story and a few extra details, but not many. On the other hand, A P
Sammy gives vivid details of everything around him. He paints a very clear picture of the store, the
young ladies, the other shoppers, and his every thought. Both main characters in these stories have
very different attitudes towards everything. Sammy, in A P, is very self assured. He realizes that he
may be making a mistake halfway through quitting his job, but goes through with it anyway. By
reading into his thoughts, the reader can infer that he is around the ages of

The White Man s Burden , is one of Kipling s most disreputable poems. The poem contains seven

He uses many negative words in general throughout the piece. Analysis: The speaker says to take up
the White Man s burden, which is to send the best and smartest men to colonize the non whites
teaching them how to be civil according to European culture. These newly caught people are wild,
angry, and both demonic and childish. He repeats that you must take up this burden to be long
suffering, to temper your panic and hold back your pride, to use simple and honest words, and to earn
profit by others. He repeats to take up the burden, which includes the savage wars of peace . You are
to fill mouths with food and end starvation and get rid of sickness and disease. However, you must be
careful to avoid, as your goal draws near, falling into laziness and stupidity and watching your hopes
vanish. He repeats to take up the burden not the work of Kings but of common men, like serfs. You
will define ports and roads with both your living and your dead. He repeats to take up the White Man s

  • 2. An Anti Apartheid Movement During The Boer War Despite the fact that the black majority was silenced by the Nation Party, the government at the time, they were able to explore the flaws in the set government system and exchange their thoughts to free the people. They also encountered many difficulties during this process, but with time and consideration foundations were placed to get them out of their segregational government. Laws were set that prohibited any expansion for the majority, but that never stop them from creating different anti apartheid groups that would open a way to get out of the problem that they faced every single day. People had to go through horrible times as they went on with their lives day in and day out, and the process of destroying the Apartheid. As the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first one was the Mines and Works Act of 1911, that limited black from obtaining high paying jobs. Next, was the Natives Lands Act of 1913 which forced ten percent of blacks to become reserves. This law also prohibited blacks from owning lands outside of said reserves. The third act that was put into action was the Native Affairs Act of 1920, and this created a system of tribally based but still governmental appoint councils. The last act that was passed and laid the foundation for the Apartheid was the Natives Urban Areas Act of 1923 and this controlled how often blacks were able to visit the towns in the country of South Africa. As the National Party was gaining their strength, and the current government form was being manipulated, the National Party began to dominate the white elections. They were powerful enough to take out the current prime minister and were fully elected into office. Their president was D.F. Malan, and his goals were to restrict the British from going into the country and to use the Afrikaners to their advantage. They never wanted to set apartheid onto the blacks, but to just control or subjugate them. As their power grew, they began to realize that they could actually take over the country and make it their own in a way. • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Brother Dean Jackeline Aguilar Rhetorical Analysis on Brother Dean Brother Dean is a campus preacher that is talking about controversial topics like rape, feminism, and gay people. He uses the bible to back up the statements that he makes. Brother Dean walks around the campus of the University of Arizona wearing shirts with the statements you whore and signs that say you deserve rape . He is walking around and essentially slut shaming women because he states that they get raped because they wear revealing clothes. He does not talk in long speeches about his beliefs because a lot of the students on campus do not have the time to stop and listen to him. Instead he talks really fast and attempts to persuade people to believe in his statements as they pass by. His preachings are mostly based on christianity and the bible. He never uses anything else to back his believes besides the bible. Brother Dean is using the bible as a weapon to persuade others to join him, proving that he is cultured. The reason Brother Dean is going on campus and preaching is so that he can get people to convert. As Nissi Powell, a student on campus said, he is only trying to get people s attention with his remarks. He is doing it in a wrong way because a lot of people do not respond well when they are being attacked with words. He could have tried a more effective way to get people to listen to him if he talked about the religion itself. He could have mentioned what a day in mass was like or passages from the bible that were positive. Due to his strident approach, he has caused chaos and violence towards him. People have started to rip his shirt, throw away his signs, and has had a smoothie thrown at him. His hobby has had a lot a controversy but some women do agree with him like his friend Sarah. She claims that women put themselves in situations without needing to be there. She also states that she agrees with everything brother Dean ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Just Poverty In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson In our country, hundreds of people are apprehended every day for misdemeanors crimes. Our local justice system will then charge these individuals with fines that can be as much as $2,000 or more. Failure to pay this said fine can immediately result in potential jail time. Yet, if you can pay your bail, you will spend no more than 24 hours in a local facility. Many of these people are poor, while the remainder of these people tends to be middle to upper class citizens. The 14th Amendment is set in place to protect citizens from being denied the equal protection of the laws . This statement requires all branches of government to treat everyone equally. In Just Mercy, Bryan Stevenson shares stories about the unjust treatment many of his clients received at the hands of the American Justice System. Many of which were poor, lower class citizens who had committed a crime. All of which were charged wrongfully. Bryan Stevenson was a lawyer based out of Montgomery, Alabama. He helped many of these people get an honest, fair sentence. Through the publication of his book, he has educated many on the reality of our prison systems in America. He shares his firsthand accounts of children being charged as adults, innocent men being charged for crimes they had clearly not had any involvement with, and women living in poverty being charged with murder for burying their stillborn children. All of these cases had one thing in common: poverty. Poverty is defined as the state of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The FDA has decided to remove PHOs from all manufacturers due to extensive research into the effects of PHOs. Partially hydrogenated oils have been determined not to be GRAS, generally recognized as safe (Center). Although the FDA had decided that PHOs are unhealthy many sources say that fats are needed for body functions. In high amounts fats are going to be bad for the body but, with any type of food that is the case and it is the job of the consumer to watch their eating habits. When the hydrogenation process is stopped half way, this is when it becomes partially hydrogenated oil. PHO s are a butter substitute and have the same consistency(Armstrong). What complete hydrogenation of fats does is turn healthful unsaturated fats into fully saturated fats. This is the equivalent to regular, saturated, animal fat and since this animal fat and complete hydrogenation is essentially the same this doesn t work. Napoleon was born on August 15,1769 on an island called Corsica which was a French island south of the mainland. Ironically his future enemy Duke of Wellington was also born in 1769. Napoleon was born in the lower nobility class, and gifted with mathematics. He admired the Royal Navy and wanted to join as a midshipman. At the age of ten, Napoleon left Corsica for a military school in Brienne, France. On completion of his studies at Brienne in 1784, Napoleon was admitted to the elite military school in Paris. He trained to become an artillery officer. His full height was five feet and five inches tall and Napoleon was promoted to first lieutenant by 1791. Napoleon ... The british and prussians defeated Napoleon for the last time and exiled him to St. Helena where he would later die on May 5, 1821. Paul Johnsons purpose for writing Napoleon is really to inform the reader. The book covers the main things in his life from the day he is born to the day the dies. The author writes in chronological order really showing what affected young Napoleon while growing up shaped him to be an excellent leader and military expert. The book showed little insight into his personal life mostly ones military campaign. The author really tells the life of Napoleon in only a couple hundred pages so I feel a lot of details were missing. I think reading another monograph on Napoleon would be helpful to really compare the difference between two different authors, and their approach they took for writing a monograph. The author really does fit a lot of information in this book. If you were someone who wanted to learn about Napoleon, this is a book you can pick up and read in a short amount of time. • 15. Effective Classroom Interaction And Pupil Management Assignment 1 Effective lessons in IT Classroom interaction and pupil management Meeting individual differences Helping pupils learn Assessment The school curriculum and society What is an effective teacher? An effective teacher is a pupil manager that can aid personalised learning and classroom interaction. They are someone who meets individual s needs and reduces teacher dependency. They understand the concepts of learning. The successful teacher cares, the successful teacher teaches well and the successful teacher manages well (Marlands(1993, p.6 7). Graham et al. (2001) number one principle for an effective teacher is to encourage student faculty contact. This stood out as it is a little absurd compared to other lists and descriptions of what teachers should be. However it does make sense, looking back at your school days you do associate a subject with a faculty and the efficiency of that faculty, especially at GCSE, AS and A level stages when you rely on those faculties the most. Graham et al. (2001) study showed that students that weren t responded to quickly would feel ignored and faculty expectations would be decreased, showing a lack of trust and therefore wanting to learn by the subject. One of the main arguments behind good understanding is the argument for independent learning as opposed to teacher dependency. Overall Sangster (2007, p.94) state that one of the hardest but most creditable achievements of a teacher is to help a student along the road to being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Three Major Aspects Of Industrialization From 1865 To... There are three major aspects of industrialization from 1865 to 1920 that influenced U.S. society, economy and politics. These are urbanization, working conditions and laissez faire government. Urbanization created cities who offered large numbers of workers for new factories. In turn, more factories were built. Workers, both native born and immigrants, moved to cities looking for jobs. Industrialism and post industrialism let to a decline in patriarchy within the family because of the changes that were made to society. The birth of the Industrial Revolution had one staggering advantage, even to the most distanced and skeptical farmer: a living could be made that was not subject to climate changes. Therefore, a man could actually be assured of regular, dependable wages. This did not, however, translate into a vast emigration of farmers to the new cities. An economy based upon agriculture is altogether distinct from an industrial one. The former is dependent upon the unpredictable elements of nature and the weather, the consequences of which could lead to ruin and famine. Indispensable to this growth and development were an unprecedented surge in immigration and urbanization after the Civil War. American society was in transition. The industrial revolution meant more money and wealth for the upper classes, especially the owners of large companies. It was thought that the wealth would be invested back into new factories, so the Americans accepted this wealth distribution. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It tracks the spatial average of the sensor measurements in a region. Since it is highly vulnerable to sensor faults and measurement noise the average operation is not robust. In this paper the proposed computational efficient method is used to compute a weight average of sensor measurement. It takes consideration of sensor faults and sensor noise. WSN uses random projections of sensor to compress data and send the compressed data to the data fusion center. The computation efficient method uses the data fusion center for direct work with the compressed data stream. The fusion center performed decompression at the time of computed weighted average. Thus, it reduces the computational requirements. Hence the proposed method gives better accuracy and more efficient for the WSN. • 20. The Pollution Of The San Joaquin Valley The Water In The Valley. If the water is contaminated by the airborne pollutants, whether by depositing through direct water surface contact or by depositing on land and being carried to water bodies through run off, the residents will face problems. Once in the water, these pollutants can cause the fish to poison people upon consumption, or the fish could die out. Harmful algal blooms could occur; the water will become contaminated and unsafe to drink. This might seem like an exaggeration but in the San Joaquin Valley, the threat is very real. One might say that the people of the San Joaquin Valley may depend on water more than people elsewhere. The residents need water more because many of them depend on having enough water for their jobs, not just for their consumption. Being one of the top agricultural industries, the San Joaquin Valley residents need to have plenty of water for their industry of choice, whether is be for watering their crops or keeping the cows food (grass) alive, to ensure that they will be able to bring in profit to the valley and be able to feed themselves and their families. One of the reasons why the San Joaquin Valley is highly susceptible to water contamination is because of agriculture pesticides such as the nitrogen based fertilizer called nitrate. Encapsulation: organic devices have to be protected from any kind of environmental influences. Hence they are encapsulated in between two plastic foils other such materials also can be used to protect them. [1] Charge transport in organic semiconductors: Various materials are available that transport either electrons or holes. This distinction does not rely on the actual ability of materials to transport charges ( ie. On the actual value of charge mobility). But rather reflects the ease of charge injection from electrodes traditionally used in devices. In that context, a material is often referred to as a hole [electron] transporter when its ionization energy [electron affinity] closely matches the Fermi level of the electrode material. Materials that transport both electrons and holes are also available nowadays these materials are called ambipolar transport materials.[2] The charge transport in organic materials is similar to that in the conventional semiconductors, the charge carriers (electrons or holes) have to overcome the barrier potential formed at the junction of metal and the semiconductor. The carriers are then injected into the organic semiconductor layer. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

PREDICT 401 Assignment 1 V1 2015 02 08 Essay Assignment #1 Daniel Case INTRODUCTION Abalone populations are an economic and recreational resource that is threatened by a variety of factors, which include pollution, disease, loss of habitat, predation, commercial harvesting, sport fishing, and illegal harvesting. As a result of the aforementioned factors, abalone populations have declined considerably, pushing some abalone species to the verge of extinction. To help curb over harvesting and better protect abalone populations, it is important for biologists to efficiently and quickly determine the age composition of a regional abalone population. The purpose of this report is to examine the data from an observational study of abalone in Tanzania. The intent of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data variable, volume, is a product of multiplying abalone length, diameter, and height. Similarly, the data variable, density, is a product of dividing abalone weight (i.e. the variable whole ) by volume. The three likely independent data variables to predict abalone age are volume, density, and weight. As such, these three variables were examined in further detail. • 24. Education Inequality In Thailand Although gender and education inequality may be both gradually increasing while shifting up and down throughout the years, the adult literacy rate in Thailand has only been increasing since 2000. In 2015, only about four percent of Thailand s citizens aged fifteen and over were illiterate. This ends up positively contributing to a wide variety of social improvements, such as lower infant mortality rates and higher education levels for future generations. This is because a parent who went to school and learned to reads is more likely to do the same with their child, regardless of gender. The same goes for length of education as well the more education they received, the more education they will likely expect their child to experience. As Thailand s globalization has increased very little over the years, another major developmental indicator has also done the same. The World Bank shows Thailand s average citizen lifespan from birth experiences a four year increase from 2000 to 2014, from 70 years to seventy four years. Another improving factor for Thai citizens is the increasing health standards even after the 2014 military coup. Thailand has ranked higher than the surrounding countries for births attended by a skilled staff member since 2000 and beyond. This is a major indicator of Thai development, not only for health but also for women s rights. From the year 2000 to 2012, Thailand s percentage ranged from 97.3% and 99.6% of births. The Practices and Processes Shaping Racism in British Society The Practices and Processes Shaping Racism in British Society The concept of racism is a relatively modern term that made its appearance in the 18th century. The practices and processes that have helped shape racism in British society today must be looked at as a series of ideologies, that have been built into British institutions and organisations as a consequence of the historical contexts of colonialism and imperialism. However, ideas of race and differences between races are rooted even earlier than this, even as far back in history as the 16th century. Even though racism can operate on levels of both individual racism and institutional racism, it is the later that will be looked at in this essay together with the historical context ... These goods were exchanged for slaves who where then taken on the second leg of the triangular journey to the West Indies and Southern America where they were used to produce goods such as cotton, tobacco, sugarcane and coffee. These slave produced goods were shipped back to Britain where they were manufactured or refined, and either sold domestically or re exported (Ramdin 1987). This growth of trade during the 16th and 17th century, brought about the establishment of the Colonial Board in 1661, its objective was to decide how best to populate and work the colonies of the new world. The political aspect of this was the increasing concern that emigration of white workers to the colonies would eventually leave a shortage of cheap labour at home. The Royal Family gave its patronage to the African slave trade in 1680 by the formation of the Royal African Company (Ramdin 1987). This move could be argued to be seen as giving legitimacy to the belief that the Africans where more suited to labour than the white peoples, it could be argued that it is here that we see the first signs of racism emerging in British society. The 18th century saw a great change in moral and religious beliefs brought about by the period of the enlightenment. From 1748, arguments arose against slavery. In 1758 the Quakers started to campaign against slavery and were quickly joined by the Protestants. By 1783 anti slavery had become a National political issue. This can in some part be ... Case Study Of Enron, Worldcam, And Adelphia Communications This case study was about different accounting company s that were investigated and charged with making fraudulent documents and records with money. These different company s in this case study were Enron, WorldCam, and Adelphia Communications (Ferrell, 2009). Enron was founded by former CEO Kenneth Lay, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling and former CEO Andrew Fastow. Enron was one in several other major corporations (most famous) accused of dirty dealings (Ferrell, 2009). Enron had reported 111 billion in 2000. The Corporation collapsed in debt after it had been concealed through a complex scheme of off balanced sheet partnership called mark to market. Mark to market accounting is assets that are yet to be obtained based on the current market prices. Mark to market allowed Enron to record future profits on books as present and ignoring sources of debt boosting the company s revenue on paper (Ferrell, 2009). Enron Corporation was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and had to lay off 4,000 employees and a thousand more lost their retirement savings that had been invested in Enron stock. Later former chief financial officer Andrew Fastow was sentenced to six years in prison in exchange for giving prosecutors important information (Ferrell, 2009). Jeffery Skilling was sentenced to 24 years in prison and was ordered to pay back 45 million in restitution for his part in the scandal. As American soldiers succeeded during the war, women felt more confident to push for social change at home because the country had economic and political stability (Yalom). Following more than 70 years of women s protests for change, the United States Congress and President Woodrow Wilson finally passed the Nineteenth Amendment in 1919. With the right to vote, more women began to work outside of the home in factories (Dumenil 112). Before the twenties, women made soap at home, but it usually harmed the skin so people refused to bathe frequently (Sivulka, Cleanliness 25 28). Soapmakers had previously only catered to the upper class, but as soldiers returned from the First World War, middle class families bought more luxury goods, like perfumes and soaps (Sivulka, Cleanliness 48). Advertisers had to convince housewives that manufactured soap had better qualities than homemade soap because women refused to let a company produce what they had traditionally made (Sivulka, Cleanliness 48). Advertisers convinced women to purchase soap that had more fragrances and lotions because they could not produce soap with those qualities at home (Sivulka, Cleanliness 48 49). Advertisements for fragrant and beautifying soaps urged women to fit a gendered expectation of beauty and youthfulness that usually represented an upper class status; middle class women wished to imitate the upper class because they thought if they looked wealthy, then they would gain more wealth. In addition, advertising used traditional images to persuade women to work in the house for their families. Soapmakers made specialized soaps for certain purposes, like cleaning, to gain more consumers (Sivulka, Cleanliness 48). In their advertising for these specialized products, soapmakers often used the image of a housewife to appeal to the middle class female audience who bought and used these products (Sivulka, Soap 226 227). By using the microscope and within different scale to see the fiber and the epoxy. And will find out in different cut the effect to the volume fraction, and to prove why transverse cut is the only option for the calculation Introduction Composites, is a material that made with two or more different material. People can see or use it anytime, anywhere. Composite materials can provide different advantages from mixing different materials, and usually combined metal (aluminum), polymers (epoxy) or ceramic (silicon). One of the most common example for the composites will be fishing rod. Nowadays fishing rod usually make with glass fiber/ carbon fiber and epoxy. Which glass fiber or carbon fiber are brittle but strong, and epoxy can provide a high mechanical properties. Result of the fishing rod can be have a better toughness, and lightweight. Because of that in this lab, the main objective is going to use the optical microscopy and find out the fiber s alignment, the structure pattern and the mechanical properties from the fishing rod. • 31. Interpreting The Matrix through Descartes’s Philosophy Essay Many ancient philosophers, including Plato, explored metaphysics in relation to reality before Descartes s in depth questioning of the subject. However, Descartes s views on mind/body dualism differ greatly from Plato s. As Marleen Rozemond (author of Descartes s Dualism) points out, Plato believes that the body is simply a vessel for the soul to use, while Descartes provides proof that the body and soul are interconnected (172). One does not simply use the other; though they are separate, the mind affects the body and the body affects the mind. Cartesian dualism tells us that although the whole mind seems to be united to the whole body, I recognize that if a foot or arm or any other part of the body is cut off, nothing has thereby been ... Descartes states that: Once the foundations of a building are undermined, anything built on them collapses of its own accord; so I will go straight for the basic principles on which all my former beliefs rested. Whatever I have up till now accepted as most true I have acquired either from the senses or through the senses. But from time to time I have found that the senses deceive, and it is prudent never to trust completely those who have deceived us even once. (384) Through questioning the knowledge he had always believed to be true, Descartes comes to realize that many of his basic beliefs were founded on sensual knowledge. This leads him to question his very existence, and eventually to search for unconditional proof of his existence Christopher Falzon, philosophy lecturer and author of Philosophy Goes to the Movies and Philosophy and The Matrix, points out that The Matrix employs Cartesian style skepticism in its attempt to inundate the viewer in this cyber world ( Philosophy and the Matrix 99). This is seen in Neo s choice between the red pill and blue pill in The Matrix, which can be likened to Descartes s employment of the acid test. Neo, a computer hacker, is told that a man named Morpheus can tell him the meaning of the Matrix, a term that Neo has encountered several times. Upon meeting Morpheus, Neo is given a choice: he can take a blue pill which will make him forget about his quest to discover the meaning of the Matrix, or he can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Causes Of The American Revolution Through an examination of the social, cultural, economic and political causes of the American Revolution, an exploration of key arguments both for and against the American Revolution, and an analysis of the social, cultural, economic and political changes brought about by the American Revolution it can be demonstrated unequivocally that the American Revolution was indeed truly revolutionary. By the time of the late 18th century, the colonies had grown socially, culturally, economically, and politically setting the mood for a majority of the colonists to want to break ties with the mother country. The colonies were well established, growing rapidly with new settlers arriving, and had begun to interact and socialize with not only each other, but also the Indians and the French, with whom they shared the new lands. These newfound social and cultural interactions allowed the colonies to grow economically giving the colonists a sense of importance. The lack of recognition by parliament started to plant the seeds for the revolution. In the years leading up to the American Revolution, important economic changes took place within the colonies as their economies transitioned from the previous subsistence farming and subsistence living type of economies into true consumer economies. This shift toward a true consumerism society in the colonies, also known as Anglicizing the colonies, began to make the colonies more uniform and began to bring the colonies together into more of a ... Lawyers still represent the interests of their clients in civil proceedings, but have a little central role, if we compare the common law systems, however, their functions commonly contain advising clients on points of law and preparing legal pleadings for filing with the court, but the importance of oral argument, in court presentations and active lawyer in court are minimized when compared to a common law system. Moreover, non litigation legal tasks, such as will preparation and contract drafting, may be left to quasi legal professionals who serve businesses and private individuals, and who may not have a post university legal education or be licensed to practice before courts. Aloe Ver The First Thing Most Of Us Aloe vera, Latin name Aloe barbadensis, is likely the first thing most of us reach for when we arrive home from an enjoyable day in the summer with a sunburn. However, Aloe vera has far more uses then just to relieve pain from minor burns, it has been, and continues to be a valuable horticultural crop. Aloe vera is a plant that is propagated through various means, be it vegetatively, asexually, or even through the use of microproagation. Though, not all these methods of propagation are a successful as the others. It is important to first examine the plant itself, before even considering methods of propagation. Initially individual plants start more or less as a rosette and sucker and elongate slightly in height to form a spready mound 1 to 3 tall; plants are medium coarse to coarse in texture (Arnold, M., 2008). The form of the Aloe vera plant is likely very recognizable to anyone who has spent a significant amount of time in Texas, or other states within the Southwest, Aloe vera has short stout stems suckering at the base to form colonies of thickened, erect, sword like leaves (Arnold, M., 2008). Though we do typically see this plant grown widely throughout our region, it likely calls another, larger continent home. Thought to be native to North Africa, it is widely naturalized in South and Central America as well as the Mediterranean region it is widely planted in South Texas and Mexico (Arnold, M., 2008). Another difference is that An Ounce of Cure has far less detail in it than in A P. An Ounce of Cure is much longer, but much more straightforward.
