Battle Of Stalingrad War
With nearly two million military and civilian casualties there has never been a battle in its scale of
destruction. Known by its close quarters combat and direct air raid assaults on civilians. The Battle of
Stalingrad is regarded as the largest and bloodiest battles in the history of warfare. The biggest defeat
in the history of the German Army. Before Stalingrad, the German forces had gone through constant
victories with very few setbacks. It was a battle of annihilation between two dictators who sacrificed a
huge numbers of lives. The battle invalidated the Nazi propaganda and crushed the stereotypes about
German soldiers who were taught they are super beings. Russians consider the battle of Stalingrad to
be the greatest battle in their

The Holy Spirit
The earliest title for the book of Acts seems to have been simply The Acts . Some have suggested,
however, that it does not mean the acts of the apostles, but the acts of the Holy Spirit instead. Such a
conclusion may seem odd, but a recognition of the importance of the Holy Spirit in Acts is completely
justified. The full title of the book of Acts may be The Acts of the Apostles , but that title could
equally well read The Acts of the Holy Spirit. (Drumwright, Holy Spirit In The Book Of Acts. ). In the
American Standard Version of Acts there are fifty six references to the Holy Spirit. Comparing that to
other portions of the New Testament, the significance of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts is clearly
seen. The combined sixty eight chapters of the Synoptic Gospels only have thirty four references to
the Holy Spirit. The combined thirty two chapters of Romans and 1 Corinthians, which are Paul s
longest letters, contain only forty five references to the Holy Spirit. With fifty six references to the
Holy Spirit in its twenty eight chapters, it s justified to call Acts the book of the Spirit (Drumwright,
Holy Spirit In The Book Of Acts. ). The Holy Spirit was promised by Jesus to the apostles as their
power in Luke chapter 24, verse 49. Jesus can give the Spirit to his followers because he has received
the Spirit from the Father (chapter 3 verse 16). In the book of Acts, when the Spirit came on the Day
of Pentecost, he came as the Spirit of Christ, not just in the

Bravo Media Network Analysis
As a life long member of Jack and Jill of America Inc, I am baffled (deleted words) as to why anyone,
especially NBCUniversal, a well known media company who describes itself as uniquely positioned
to inform, empower and inspire, would purposely deface the name of such a wonderful organization.
Bravo Media Network, is currently in the production phase of a new show called, Potomac Ensemble.
A show designed to showcase the lives of six affluent African American women who call Potomac,
Maryland, home. This show was strategically devised to display an insightful look into our beloved
organization. Understanding Bravo Media s reputation and the category of scandalous media and
entertainment they tend to promote, we can conclude that their intentions for this program will be
neither inspiring nor empowering, as they claim. It is likely that this production will not exemplify a
positive outlook and direct representation of the values of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated.
According to the NBCUniversal website (in the Values section), they allege that when filming a
television show, they aim to celebrate diverse cultures and backgrounds by presenting positive role
models, telling diverse success stories, commemorating heritage, and fostering dialogue on a variety
of platforms, to create powerfully engaging content that makes a real difference in people s lives.
However, based on the previous television shows that they have produced, such as The Real

The Role Of The Church During The Struggle For Freedom By...
Last Name 1 Last Name 2 Course Section Date Name The role of the church in the struggle for
freedom by Black Americans Eric Foner s give me liberty Introduction Freedom is defined as the state
or quality of being free, or rather the absence of neccessity, contstraint or coercion in action or choice.
Other scholars describe freedom as a form of liberation from restraint or slavery or from the power of
depending on another. It is a state of being independent (Höhn and Martin 1). Traditionally, the
understanding of the Black Americans had greatly been shaped by their individual experience as
slaves and looking at the free society that was surounding them. With the initial consolidation of a

In the fight for these rights, literature records that African Americans suffered great mistreatments at
the hands on the white Americans. Arrests and beatings were routine of the everyday life of majority
of the African Americans, as they fight to become equal to other Americans. The church played
significant role during this period, other than offering spiritual nourishment. The church gave African
Americans hopes for some brighter future (Calhoun Brown, Allison 171). It acted as a center where
the African Americans would come together and share ideas on how they would help themselves come
out of slavery and get some freedom for their people. This paper critically looks at the role of the
church in the struggle for freedom by Black Americans. There had been uprisings all over the
countries, including in the Virgin Islands, which were owned by Denmark and also on the French
Island of Guadeloupe. Black Americans and Christianity During the years after the arrival of the first
Blacks on North America soil, little number embraced the Christianity of their individual masters. In
the 1700s than, an evangelical movement under the name The Great Awakening attracted a big

Explaining Fast Fashion
How fast fashion is affecting the environment is a very serious topic since this type of consumerism in
the United States is heavy on supply and demand, and because of that shoppers want it all and want it
now which is basically fast fashions motto. The way to make these pieces of clothing heavily rely on
cheap materials that can be made quickly, so that is polyester and cotton being made in big factories
that emit out toxins into our earth. Cotton being one of the most used fabrics takes a lot to be made
into a single garment. Uzbekistan which is the 6th biggest producer of cotton had faced many conflicts
during production since cotton uses so much water to be made it has dried up the 4th largest lake the
Aral Sea because of how much we need to produce cotton fashion. (Prospectjournalucsd) Buying
these cheap garments that become unwearable after 5 times (Forbes) of wearing it usually gets thrown
out after and producing more waste that gets put into our waterways since theses garments shed easy
and through washing them can find their way into oceans and on the shores everywhere. (Sweeny) So
with the help of shoppers, being able to cut down on the purchase of fast fashion can help aid in
keeping the ecosystem in order.
Benefits of Not Buying Fast Fashion
A benefit of not buying fast fashion would be becoming more aware of what how shoppers affect the
earth and taking that into

Characterisation Of Crooks
Of Mice and Men, set in 1930 s America is a fictional novella about the plight of ranch workers during
the Great Depression. One of the central themes in this piece is loneliness, and Crooks could be
viewed as the most isolated character in the novella. The character of Crooks is enhanced by him
being a man of colour, making him a victim of prejudice and racism. Steinbeck uses structure in of
Mice and Men to present Crooks as an intriguing character. The reader doesn t meet Crooks properly
until Chapter 4 but hear of him through the other ranch workers, so they re forced to judge Crooks
even before anything is known about him in detail. Steinbeck does this to stress the prejudice towards
people of colour in the 1930 s and how they would be judged by skin not personality. In chapter two,
the reader hears of Crooks in the conversation between Candy and George, as they discuss the boss s
anger at George s and Lennie s late arrival to the ranch. Candy says the boss gave the stable buck hell ,
and justifies the action by replying that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The rattle of halter chains is used frequently in Of Mice and Men, especially chapter 4. It connotes to
slavery of the blacks, and how even after it s long ended Crooks is still suffering from the remnants of
his past, which as the reader finds out, makes him a bitter and lonely man. One example of this is how
after Lennie enters Crooks shed, Crooks talks about how Lennie s got no right to come in my room.
He uses his rights as a barrier of protection against white men because he feels violated. He uses my
room to emphasise that it s his personal space and his

Database Management System For A Company
A research database management system (RDBMS) is the most used database management system for
a company. Its roots date back to 1970, created by E.F. Codd at IBM. The database approach involves
the storage of data involving tables. Attributes of the tables involve rows, used as a record of an entity.
Columns, also attributes of the table, determine what will be recorded for that field. Within a table one
primary key will be found, this represents a unique column of the table. A table may also have a
foreign key, there can be more than one, and it identifies a primary key of another table. Foreign keys
allow for relationships between tables to be created.
The RDBMS is so widely used because of its simplicity to understand relationships between data. The
data can also be analyzed in many ways using queries, reports, etc. A database management system
covers all functions of the business and is essential for businesses to be run efficiently. Since the
introduction of this time of database management system in 1970 it has triumphed many former types
of widely used databases and fended off new types of databases to remain the most common type.
Times have changed in the information technology world since 1970 when IBM was running the show
and leading the world with improving and introducing new technology. I believe the top five most
used RDBMS used in the market today are Oracle, Microsoft SQL server, IBM DB2, MySQL and
PostgreSQL. Oracle database had its first

Evaluating The Logistics Of Loans And Debt- Related Fees
Rutherford B. Hayes once said, let every man, every corporation, and especially let every village,
town, and city, every county and State, get out of debt and keep out of debt. It is the debtor that is
ruined by hard times. (Hayes 56). Although students seek to succeed in life and choose to further their
education, the cost of colleges and universities almost seem to be exorbitant. The emotional toll of
worrying about how the various expenses will be paid and covered for makes it very onerous for one
to pay attention in class. Society says, we want our students to attend college, we will even provide a
small stipend. The money that students are given is not nearly enough to pay even half expenses that
they are responsible for. Scholars all over should be informed about the logistics of loans and debt
related fees in order to alleviate financial stress that comes with paying back loans. Loans are intended
to be governmental assistance to the various individuals that not only display financial need, but to
those who qualify as well. There are many different types of loans such as: student, mortgage, auto,
personal, business, retirement, equity and many others that are available to individuals in need. Not a
lot of people will inform individuals that the interest rate is high and how loans can affect ones credit
score. According to statistics, the most popular loans taken out are student loans and business loans.
Both of these loans typically have high interest rates

Leonardo Da Vinci once said, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Many times when we write, we
tend to over use fancy words and try too hard to make our writing sound smart. This extra fluff and
weirdly placed buzz words may not quite make sense in the context, but of course, they re AP vocab

most smart sounding way to get your point across is to write it out straight forward and not

definitely guilty of trying too hard to add in extra vocabulary to increase the professional and
insightful tone of my papers. Almost always, when going

Analysis Of Our Souls At Night By Kent Haruf
Love is a concept that has been dissected and criticized since the beginning of time. People can see,
feel, and hear love but understanding the theory behind how love comes to be and the purpose behind
it has always been a mystery. Many psychologists and sociologists have engaged in the conversation
of love, including Ira Reiss. Reiss is a sociologist with a primary interest in love and sexual behaviors.
He proposed his own wheel theory of love which can be applied in analyzing the book Our Souls at
Night by Kent Haruf. This story is about two elderly neighbors, Addie Moore and Louis Waters, and
how their relationship flourished from being neighborly to love one another. In reviewing this piece of
literature, a person can clearly see the four stages of Reiss Wheel Theory and how they developed at
different times. Rapport is the first spoke on Reiss Wheel Theory. The development of rapport
encompasses a feeling of being at ease and able to communicate with each other (Starbuck Lundy,
2015). If a couple has similar social and cultural values they are more likely to develop rapport
(Starbuck Lundy, 2015). Kent Haruf developed this theory in his book Our Souls at Night. Taking a
critical view, a person can see how rapport was engaged throughout the first few weeks of Addie and
Louis relationship. Looking at the first few days of their sleeping arrangement people get an
uncomfortable feeling but as the story goes on Haruf shows them to be more at ease. After Louis

What Are The Missteps In The Declaration Of Independence
An Analysis of The Declaration of Independence In the short span of thirteen years; how did the
American colonies go from loyal subjects of King George III, flush in they victory over the French in
the French and Indian War to becoming rebels capable of overthrowing the most powerful government
in the world? It was not one single factor that caused the colonies to rebel, but a number of missteps
by the smug and out of touch English government that caused the colonies to declare their
independence in July 1776. The first missteps that started the revolutionary wheels turning happened
when parliament enacted the Sugar Act in 1764 followed by the Stamp Act in 1765. In the wake of the
French and Indian War, Britain had amassed a massive wartime debt. Parliament thought it only fair
and reasonable the colonies chip in to help pay some of the war debt, considering the war was fought
in their defense. Almost immediately the colonists pushed back. The colonists felt without a colonial
representative in Parliament the taxes were illegal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again too smug and out of touch with the politics and ideals of the colonies, Parliament decided to
give it another go at generating revenue from the colonies. This time parliament enacted the Townsend
Acts in 1767, placing themselves directly behind the colonial mules hind legs. Again the colonists,
fought back with protest and boycotting English goods. There were violent protest within the colonies
most notably in Boston, Massachusetts. Frustrated by the actions of the colonists, the English
government sent in troops to quell the violence and make the colonist submit and obey the law. It was
in response to the Townsend Acts that the Sons of Liberty organized, the Boston Massacre erupted, the
Committee of Correspondence was established and the East India Tea Companies tea was dumped into

Compare To Patterns Of Criminal Activity And Violence In...
Compare to patterns of criminal activity and violence in England during this period. Explain their
effect on the development of constitutional law and political freedom in England. Finally, explain how
English Common Law influenced the American criminal justice system. Provide an example. England
has a reasonable repute for cruelty. A mutual awareness of the Middle Ages is that society was abused
by continuous violence and social indifference against fatalities by the insistent dignity of the Four
Horseman of the Apocalypse continuously pushing back and forth across Europe. After reading
Chapter 3 in our book. The two patterns of criminal activity and violence I would like to compare that
took place in England during this period are blood feud s and Trial by Ordeal. Crime control was built
on Kindred grouping an individual s relatives because if they were injured by another group they had
their own supporters. Their supports could bail them out of trouble by paying compensation to the
other member in which they killed or hurt families. If a member gets expelled from group they are
deprived from being protected and this gives the sheriff permission to injure, or kill the expelled
individual through the practice of outlawry. Rather than being called an outlaw, the person is named an

toothbrush. That way, people who forget will be reminded to include this in their everyday routine.
The consumers would be able to take the floss out. We think this is going to be the outcome because
30% of adults say they do not have it in handy, now they do!
Conclusion
Our solution was successful, but there was some things that could be fixed. Our suggested solution to
the problem was successful because we were able to remove the floss successfully, keep the dental
floss cutter in place, and we were able to remind the user to floss. When we tested this product, there
was some things that could have been improved. When in use, water got to the bottom, and slightly
removed the glue. To fix this, we could put a cover at the end, so it would prevent the water from
going in. It was also difficult to take the floss out of the product, but it was possible. Next time, we
could make an opening big enough so users do not have a problem with taking the floss out. Some
possible problems noticed in the test is that the floss could slip to the very bottom, and it would be
extremely difficult to get out. To fix this, we could put a slit near the dental floss cutter to prevent the
floss from accidentally going to the bottom. Another difficulty that is most likely to come off is having

The Military Instrument Of National Power
Instruments of national power encompass all of the means available to a government in its pursuit of
national objectives. It is expressed as diplomatic, economic, informational and military aspects. Of the
four instruments of national power, the military instrument has had the most impact on the cycle of
Western interaction with the rest of the world. Military strength generally determines the ability of one
nation to impose its will upon another nation. Many military advancements allowed the West to
become the first to explore the world and, eventually, to dominate these nations. This use of the
military instrument of national power was continued when the developing world used this instrument
to free themselves, or, in some cases, attempt to free themselves, from Western influence. The military
instrument of national power ensured that the West would come to interact with, and dominate, the
developing world, and that these developing countries would take offense to this control thus
guaranteeing that their future interactions with the West would not be amicable.
The military instrument of power was one of the most influential instruments because it was one of the
first to be examined as a potential instrument of power. It was not surprising that this instrument was
developed after the rise of mercantilism. It was the mercantilists who were the first thinkers who
undertook, although with insufficient analytical tools, the study of military potential. They were

Hospital Sketches Louisa May Alcott Summary
In the nonfictitious narrative Hospital Sketches, written by Louisa May Alcott in 1863, she develops a
strong argument concerning human compassion in a time of war. She was able to do this with strong
uses of dialogue, pathos, and figurative language. The dialogue present in the narrative provides
feelings of sorrow for the patients like John. When John asks whether or not the doctors think the
battle is going to be his last, Alcott responds with I m afraid they do, providing a mood of
hopelessness for John s future, and pity for him (Alcott para. 7 8). Alcott also has feelings of survivor
guilt, in which she feels bad about living when people like John are dying for their country. She feels
empathy, and wants to be able to help John bear it so he can live (Alcott para. 5). She has compassion
for him, and she will be sorrowful to see him go. Pathos, the appeal to emotions, is shown with the
melancholy actions shown by the characters. After Alcott is told about the hopelessness of the
scenario, she could have sat down on the spot and cried heartily, telling us directly of the deep
depression that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. P, one of the doctors in charge of taking care of the wounded soldiers, diagnosed that the injury
pierced the left lung and broke a rib, resulting in every breath taken feeling like a stab, and that John

makes us see that the only path is death and there is no way to block it. Furthermore, as John
continues to lie there, a gray veil, a metaphor for death, was falling over his face that no human hand
could move, exemplifying the mood of uselessness that was set (Alcott para. 10). It is through these
tactics, in which we can see clearly, the compassion that people had for John in his last hours, and the
compassion that people have for one another in a time of

Features And Features Of Phhonology
Introduction :
Phonology is the study of sound patterns in a language ,which sounds precede or follow which others
or begin or end words; what kinds of sounds make up syllables; how the occurrence of one sound in a
particular word affects the other sounds around it; how suprasegmentals such as stress affect the
segmental sound with which they occur; and so forth.
The central concept in phonology is the phoneme, which is a distinctive category of sounds that all the
native speakers of a language or dialect perceive as more or less the same. Phoneme is the smallest
element which words in a language can be broken down into. Phonologists point out that phoneme can
be broken down into smaller constituents which are the features. Features become the centre focus in
phonological analysis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects Of Prenatal Testing On Children With A Birth...
Prenatal testing was designed to allow a mother with a possible high risk the option to ensure the
health of their unborn child with a birth defect. The testing will also detect harm to the unborn fetus if
the mother was exposed to a disease or sickness. There are multiple levels of screening and testing that
can be done to provide to give results to an unborn child. The screenings are safe non invasive
procedures that will detect particular birth defects.1 The types of screenings that can be provided are
ultrasound, and blood test.
Ultrasound screening uses sound waves to create an image of the fetus in the uterus. The test will
determined the size and the position of the fetus as well as any abnormalities with the bones or organs
of the unborn fetus. 2 There are many types of ultrasounds and at different levels they will reveal more
in depth issues or abnormalities. The first type being nuchal translucency ultrasound; this type of
ultrasound is done at 11 weeks 2 day to 14 weeks and 2 days. This ultrasound measures fluid at the
back of the babies neck allowing detection of Down syndrome and major heart defects. The second
type of ultrasound available is fetal anatomy survey or a level 1 ultrasound. This ultrasound will show
how far along the pregnancy is. This is done between 17 to 20 weeks and allowing a head to toe scan
to detect birth defects. If the level 1 scan is deemed to be abnormal a level 2 ultrasound will be
preformed to detect harder to find defects.

Rhino Poaching Essay
Poaching of Rhinos: A Growing Transnational Crime Industry
In 2011, the West African black rhino was declared extinct by the IUCN (International Union for
Conservation and Nature). Now all five rhino species left are in the endangers list (Poaching: The
Statistics). The reason the rhino population has nearly been driven to extinction is due to poaching.
The rhinos are being hunted and killed for their horns, which is a valued ingredient used in traditional
Asian medicines (Poaching of Rhinos in the Spotlight). In this essay, I will explore why the rhinos are
being poached, the overall impact of poaching in the rhino population, and what the authorities are
doing to deal with this profitable transnational crime industry.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the rhino ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rhino horn is more expensive than most things out there. For example, one kilo of marijuana is rated at

If the question mark does not succeed in becoming the market leader, then after perhaps years of cash
consumption it will degenerate into a dog when the market growth declines. Question marks must be
analyzed carefully in order to determine whether they are worth the investment required to grow
market share.
Stars are units with a high market share in a fast growing industry (High Market Share / High Market
Growth). The hope is that stars become the next cash cows. Sustaining the business unit s market
leadership may require extra cash, but this is worthwhile if that s what it takes for the unit to remain a
leader. When growth slows, if they have been able to maintain their category leadership stars become
cash cows, else they become dogs due to low relative market share.
As a particular industry matures and its growth slows, all business units become either cash cows or
dogs. The natural cycle for most business units is that they start as question marks, then turn into stars.
Eventually the market stops growing thus the business unit becomes a cash cow. At the end of the
cycle the cash cow turns into a dog.
The overall goal of this ranking was to help corporate analysts decide which of their business units to
fund, and how much; and which units to sell. Managers were supposed to gain perspective from this
analysis that allowed them to plan with confidence to use money generated by the cash cows to fund
the stars and, possibly, the question marks. As the

Rise Of Christianity Essay
Christianity began way back when during the reign of Tiberius, lasting from 14 C.E to 37 C.E. During
this time, a man by the name of Jesus began his teachings and Christianity was born. It was a religion
created by the mass number of followers that Jesus procured through his teachings, the people who
held onto every single of his words. During this time, there was much war and many civil wars
throughout the Roman Empire which had erupted into mass chaos. Zealots were encouraging armed
rebellion and it was then that Christians, or self proclaimed people of this new belief or religion,
believed in what they deemed the Messiah, who according to text, would destroy Roman legions and
bring times of happiness to the world around them (McKay, 168). Paganism was another type of
religion that began around this time as well, for the people who practiced religions outside the well
received Judaism and Christianity. What would be known as synchronistic religions blended together
both Roman and indigenous deities. Statues, temples, and monuments were all built or constructed due
to this belief and there was an ideal that existed in which there was believed to be life after death
(McKay, 168). Jesus played a vital role to Christianity during this time, especially where the Roman
Empire was concerned. According to text, he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

could spread its belief and power quickly. The empire in their minds was also universal and so
Christians combined the ideas of Universalism (McKay,

Criticisms on the Studies of World History Essay
In the late twentieth century, the study of world history has emerged to allow both historians and
students to understand the world from a global perspective. World history is viewed to be part of the
academic field than the research field. According to Charles Hedrick, author of The Ethics of World
History, Western civilization was the main course taught in schools and universities before world
history became part of the curriculum. The need to understand the world in a broader perspective
compared to a Western perspective made the study of world history popular in the United States.
Historians approached the study of world history with a thematic approach to understand the
integration and difference between people and major events of ... Show more content on

This is most noticeable in patriotic world history. The development of world history from the Right
created the patriotic world history. This approached to world history advocated American values and
accomplishments. Patriotic world history most obvious criticism is its Eurocentric perspective on
world history. The patriotic world history serves its purpose by legitimiz[ing] particular political
values. It focuses on the values and experiences of European and Euro American, while treating other
societies as paths to avoid. Sometime patriotic world history goes so far as to exclude most of the
world s peoples and societies from world history. This approach is far from the original goals of world
history to understand integration and differences between people and events without compromising
other societies.
Another criticism of patriotic world history is the lack of professional historians. Two advocates of
patriotic world historians are Paul Ganon and Diane Ravitch. While they have a degree in history, they
lack the qualification of a professional historian. They proclaim to understand the meaning of the
global past and use it for their own political

interviewing nonprofits in the greater Oklahoma City area with young professionals boards. When
speaking with the nonprofits, the first thing we sought to determine was the main focuses of the young
professionals board. From our interviews, we found that 4 out of 6 of the young professional boards
interviewed assisted in fundraising in some capacity. The complete breakdown of their focuses can be
found in the table below. Specifically, Rebecca King from Oklahoma Lawyers for Children stated that
her young professionals board [does] a lot of brainstorming for fundraisers and assesses how to gain
resources from fundraising most effectively. After the planning stage, the group also runs the event
and coordinates the volunteer effort. Additionally, this model was mentioned by Mary Ellen Evans

Ringworm is an issue that could transpire at any age and time. It makes the influenced zone look

Interview With A Panino Restaurant
Panino Restaurant
The entrepreneur that I interviewed was Lydia Patterson. In 1989, Lydia and her husband, Lou,
decided to start planning to open up a new Italian restaurant in Virginia. The restaurant industry,
especially in the Washington DC area is very competitive. It is highly competitive with respect to
price, value and promotions, service, location, and food quality. There are a substantial number of
restaurant operations that compete for customer traffic, some of which have significantly greater
resources to aggressively market to consumers, which could result in losing market share. Consumers

thinking about how they wanted to conduct their business. This included the types of benefits they
wanted to give their employees, how many people they wanted to hire, how they wanted to run their
business, what foods would be served, and which types of people they wanted to appeal to. In March
1991, the building of the restaurant was completed and Lydia finally was able to design the inside of
the restaurant and decorate according to her personal taste. She gave the restaurant a simple, Italian
style feel that would appeal to the area that the restaurant was located in. Paintings by her brother in
law would hang on every wall along with having hand painted antiques throughout the restaurant. The
set up of the restaurant took about a month. In late April of 1991, Lydia and Lou decided to take the
planning process to the next level and decided to start executing some of their plans. This is when
some of the setbacks started to take place. When starting this new business venture, technology wasn t
popular yet and they needed to market their new restaurant to the clients that they wanted to appeal to.
They weren t to see how to go about doing this. Their menu would be moderately priced and there
were many surrounding businesses close by. They thought

The Role Of Policies And Procedures For Children And Young...
This assignment will explain the role of policies and procedures in helping children, young people and

Policies and procedures are set of guidelines and rules put in place by the government to ensure the
safety of children and young people while they are in care. It is important that anyone working with
children and young people is fully aware of policies and procedures put in place in their setting and

Of course one must remember that a lot of such novels would have been written by male authors, as
was considered proper and that many female authors such as the Bronte sisters, who famously wrote
under the masculine pseudonyms of Action , Currer and Ellis Bell were not permitted to write at all

However, it must be noted further that the whole of the second paragraph makes great use of imagery
and descriptive language, going to great detail as to describe the lady s facial features and indeed

However, it must be noted that there is a distinct lack of insight into the lady s actual character,

only make the play captivating but also enables the reader to get a deeper understanding of the

In this house, the way Norah reacts to her husband portrays the dollhouse treatment that she received
in marriage.
The nicknames that Torvald calls her wife Norah are a symbol of how he views his wife to be inferior
to him. They also portray the weak relationship that exists between them. Examples of these names
include spendthrift, squirrel, and sweet tooth. Certainly, the names denote Torvald s power that he has
over Norah. When he calls Norah squirrel, it means that Torvald does not see his wife a human being
but rather an animal. This is evidenced in In Act One when he asks Is that my squirrel rummaging
around (Törnqvist 45). Norah is seen to agree to this, but she does not even say anything is concerning
the nickname. Here, Torvald has power over his wife and views himself to be superior compared to
Norah. On the other hand, Norah knows that these names downgrade her, but she chooses to accept
them.
One of the key symbols from the play is the Christmas tree. This is a tree that is decorated during the
Christmas festive season. It is a symbol of the position that Norah has in her household. According to
the play, it depicts that Norah is merely an object that is pleasing for one to look at and she adds
liveliness to the household. Notably, the reader is able to draw a certain parallelism between this tree
and Norah. Norah does instruct her maid that children do not see the tree until when it is well

Post Industrialization: an attack on the individual
Roger Me (1989) by the famous activist documentary film maker Michael Moore explores the themes
of post industrialism in his home town of Flint, Michigan while trying to track down Roger Smith the
GM of General Motors who began shutting down Flint auto plants in 1985, eliminating over 30,000
jobs. Within the post industrial theme, the film explores several key ideas that tie neatly into the
concept of the attack on the individual. The key ideas are found in Flint s crime escalation post factory
shutdowns, the trend of the wealthy distancing themselves from the masses, and finally the relocation
of factories and mechanization of labor. The film Roger Me encapsulates how profit driven ... Show

During the 1980s and 1990s, the construction of new prisons jumped from 16 new prisons a year to
245 in rural and small town communities across the United States (Huling, 198). The rise
accommodate the increasing number of individuals caught in the vast War on Drugs net. The core
piece here is that Flint workers were incarcerating their former automobile factory co workers. Sold
on the idea that prison jobs were family sustaining ones (Che, 814), i.e. good benefits and a pension,
not unlike the once stable auto manufacturing jobs Flint used to have (Often the jobs were not as good
or as entry level as advertised). Now the only solution to unemployment was essentially incarcerating
friends. Incarceration is dehumanizing; it is turning individuals into capital to fill the beds of private
prisons. It is rather ironic that Flint auto mobile workers, who built cars that seemingly liberated
individuals from geography and the urban degradation, were now locking up and cutting away the
other s freedoms. And at the same time, prisons helped to distance the wealthy from the poor and
black inner city masses.
The creation of private spaces illuminated class inequality. Moore s major mission of the film was to
track down General Motor s GM Roger Smith and convince him to come to Flint, Michigan to see the
damage his factory shutdowns created. Throughout the trek, Moore visits country and athletic clubs,
the GM headquarters, Holiday conventions, and a Great Gatsby themed party to talk to Smith. At each
venue, Moore s status as included or excluded was quite obvious. There were guards that kept him
from meeting or even making an appointment with Roger Smith. The private clubs were hardly

Dog Ticks Research Paper
Dog ticks and fleas
Having dogs and cats at home brings about those unwanted visitors that not only affect our pets, but
also us. In addition, they can cause diseases in animals and also in people. Therefore, you must
prevent them from proliferating in your home. Know the best remedies to eliminate fleas and ticks
naturally.
Where can my dog catch ticks and fleas?
The tick is an external parasite (ectoparasite) of the family of arachnid mites. Its size and colour vary
according to its species. Ticks are, along with fleas, the most common external parasites in the can.
Small in size they measure a few millimeters and with eight legs, they feed on the blood of the
affected animal. When they reach their body, these parasites of the spider family cling to the dog s
skin thanks to a powerful jaw. Ticks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best weapon against them is prevention, among others, through proper brushing and hygiene.
When the heat arrives, one must be more alert than ever to locate the possible presence of these
parasites and rid the dog of its attack.
It is possible to buy specific products, for sale in different formats: pipettes, necklaces or sprays. It is a
matter of choosing the right product to combat fleas and ticks in dogs and that has a quality tested and
endorsed by the laboratories that manufacture this type of anti parasite.
Check the dog s coat regularly, especially in spring and summer, when ticks and fleas are more active.
Maintain proper hygiene of the dog, with regular brushing of the coat and with baths. The latter do not
have to be very frequent, but they can be carried out with specific antiparasitic products.
Never use antiparasitic products that are not suitable for dogs.
Ticks and fleas, especially the first ones, are a focus of diseases, so you must prevent their attack and
be very vigilant to detect them as soon as

America s Present School System Essay
What can be defined as school in America or who created and contributed to the modern school
system? My fundamental question was what are the significant contributions (and who contributed) to
America s present school system? Schools in America have gone back years since 1635 starting in
Boston, Massachusetts which lead to the first school being named the Boston Latin school. With the
opening of the first school many teachers and leaders focused on religious values instead of specific
subject areas as we would today. However, there have been changes in the way we teach the future
generations that are different from the 1600s. In order to see these changes we have to take a time
machine back to the 1800s, 1990s, and 2000s. The 1800s brought Americans the common school
movement, Horace Mann, the Committee of Ten, and the Prussian system in America. In addition
great advancements have been made in the school system, but not as much advancement has been
made since the 1800s. This can be a problem as the internet and technology blossomed in the late
1990s and today many teachers have questioned if we should really teach the same way we did almost
180 years ago. From the past we have gotten common core, standardized testing or teaching children
as if they are on an assembly line which all come into question in today s school system. Programs
such as KIPP or Khan academy are showing how children can be in classrooms that are more student
led. Also first year teachers can find a way

Pre-1972 Copyright Law
Pre 1972 sound recordings are considered classic and legendary, which should be respected and
protected. However, digital (terrestrial) radio companies continue to exploit it as public domain and do
not feel obligated to pay out royalties to its copyright owner(s). Under the Copyright Act 1909, all
sound recordings are protected by state law, but after the Copyright Act of 1972, sound recordings
created after February of 1972 were federally protected (Brook 126). This lead to the question: What
about the federal protection of sound recordings created prior to the Copyright Act of 1972? Pre 1972
sound recordings are not federally protected, meaning copyright owners are exempted from receiving
the same rights as post 1972 copyright owners. Since

Known by its close quarters combat and direct air raid assaults on civilians. The Battle of Stalingrad is regarded as the largest and bloodiest battles in the history of warfare. The biggest defeat in the history of the German Army. Before Stalingrad, the German forces had gone through constant victories with very few setbacks. It was a battle of annihilation between two dictators who sacrificed a huge numbers of lives. • 3. The Holy Spirit The earliest title for the book of Acts seems to have been simply The Acts . Some have suggested, however, that it does not mean the acts of the apostles, but the acts of the Holy Spirit instead. Such a conclusion may seem odd, but a recognition of the importance of the Holy Spirit in Acts is completely justified. The full title of the book of Acts may be The Acts of the Apostles , but that title could equally well read The Acts of the Holy Spirit. (Drumwright, Holy Spirit In The Book Of Acts. ). In the American Standard Version of Acts there are fifty six references to the Holy Spirit. Comparing that to other portions of the New Testament, the significance of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts is clearly seen. The combined sixty eight chapters of the Synoptic Gospels only have thirty four references to the Holy Spirit. The combined thirty two chapters of Romans and 1 Corinthians, which are Paul s longest letters, contain only forty five references to the Holy Spirit. With fifty six references to the Holy Spirit in its twenty eight chapters, it s justified to call Acts the book of the Spirit (Drumwright, Holy Spirit In The Book Of Acts. ). The Holy Spirit was promised by Jesus to the apostles as their power in Luke chapter 24, verse 49. Jesus can give the Spirit to his followers because he has received the Spirit from the Father (chapter 3 verse 16). In the book of Acts, when the Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost, he came as the Spirit of Christ, not just in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bravo Media Network Analysis As a life long member of Jack and Jill of America Inc, I am baffled (deleted words) as to why anyone, especially NBCUniversal, a well known media company who describes itself as uniquely positioned to inform, empower and inspire, would purposely deface the name of such a wonderful organization. Bravo Media Network, is currently in the production phase of a new show called, Potomac Ensemble. A show designed to showcase the lives of six affluent African American women who call Potomac, Maryland, home. This show was strategically devised to display an insightful look into our beloved organization. Understanding Bravo Media s reputation and the category of scandalous media and entertainment they tend to promote, we can conclude that their intentions for this program will be neither inspiring nor empowering, as they claim. It is likely that this production will not exemplify a positive outlook and direct representation of the values of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated. According to the NBCUniversal website (in the Values section), they allege that when filming a television show, they aim to celebrate diverse cultures and backgrounds by presenting positive role models, telling diverse success stories, commemorating heritage, and fostering dialogue on a variety of platforms, to create powerfully engaging content that makes a real difference in people s lives. Other scholars describe freedom as a form of liberation from restraint or slavery or from the power of depending on another. It is a state of being independent (Höhn and Martin 1). In the fight for these rights, literature records that African Americans suffered great mistreatments at the hands on the white Americans. Arrests and beatings were routine of the everyday life of majority of the African Americans, as they fight to become equal to other Americans. The church played significant role during this period, other than offering spiritual nourishment. The church gave African Americans hopes for some brighter future (Calhoun Brown, Allison 171). It acted as a center where the African Americans would come together and share ideas on how they would help themselves come out of slavery and get some freedom for their people. This paper critically looks at the role of the church in the struggle for freedom by Black Americans. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explaining Fast Fashion How fast fashion is affecting the environment is a very serious topic since this type of consumerism in the United States is heavy on supply and demand, and because of that shoppers want it all and want it now which is basically fast fashions motto. The way to make these pieces of clothing heavily rely on cheap materials that can be made quickly, so that is polyester and cotton being made in big factories that emit out toxins into our earth. Cotton being one of the most used fabrics takes a lot to be made into a single garment. Uzbekistan which is the 6th biggest producer of cotton had faced many conflicts during production since cotton uses so much water to be made it has dried up the 4th largest lake the Aral Sea because of how much we need to produce cotton fashion. One of the central themes in this piece is loneliness, and Crooks could be viewed as the most isolated character in the novella. The character of Crooks is enhanced by him being a man of colour, making him a victim of prejudice and racism. Steinbeck uses structure in of Mice and Men to present Crooks as an intriguing character. The reader doesn t meet Crooks properly until Chapter 4 but hear of him through the other ranch workers, so they re forced to judge Crooks even before anything is known about him in detail. Steinbeck does this to stress the prejudice towards people of colour in the 1930 s and how they would be judged by skin not personality. • 14. Database Management System For A Company A research database management system (RDBMS) is the most used database management system for a company. Its roots date back to 1970, created by E.F. Codd at IBM. The database approach involves the storage of data involving tables. Attributes of the tables involve rows, used as a record of an entity. Columns, also attributes of the table, determine what will be recorded for that field. Within a table one primary key will be found, this represents a unique column of the table. A table may also have a foreign key, there can be more than one, and it identifies a primary key of another table. Foreign keys allow for relationships between tables to be created. The RDBMS is so widely used because of its simplicity to understand relationships between data. The data can also be analyzed in many ways using queries, reports, etc. A database management system covers all functions of the business and is essential for businesses to be run efficiently. Since the introduction of this time of database management system in 1970 it has triumphed many former types of widely used databases and fended off new types of databases to remain the most common type. Times have changed in the information technology world since 1970 when IBM was running the show and leading the world with improving and introducing new technology. Hayes once said, let every man, every corporation, and especially let every village, town, and city, every county and State, get out of debt and keep out of debt. It is the debtor that is ruined by hard times. (Hayes 56). Although students seek to succeed in life and choose to further their education, the cost of colleges and universities almost seem to be exorbitant. The emotional toll of worrying about how the various expenses will be paid and covered for makes it very onerous for one to pay attention in class. Society says, we want our students to attend college, we will even provide a small stipend. The money that students are given is not nearly enough to pay even half expenses that they are responsible for. Scholars all over should be informed about the logistics of loans and debt related fees in order to alleviate financial stress that comes with paying back loans. People can see, feel, and hear love but understanding the theory behind how love comes to be and the purpose behind it has always been a mystery. Many psychologists and sociologists have engaged in the conversation of love, including Ira Reiss. Reiss is a sociologist with a primary interest in love and sexual behaviors. He proposed his own wheel theory of love which can be applied in analyzing the book Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf. This story is about two elderly neighbors, Addie Moore and Louis Waters, and how their relationship flourished from being neighborly to love one another. In reviewing this piece of literature, a person can clearly see the four stages of Reiss Wheel Theory and how they developed at different times. Rapport is the first spoke on Reiss Wheel Theory. The development of rapport encompasses a feeling of being at ease and able to communicate with each other (Starbuck Lundy, 2015). If a couple has similar social and cultural values they are more likely to develop rapport (Starbuck Lundy, 2015). Kent Haruf developed this theory in his book Our Souls at Night. Taking a critical view, a person can see how rapport was engaged throughout the first few weeks of Addie and Louis relationship. What Are The Missteps In The Declaration Of Independence An Analysis of The Declaration of Independence In the short span of thirteen years; how did the American colonies go from loyal subjects of King George III, flush in they victory over the French in the French and Indian War to becoming rebels capable of overthrowing the most powerful government in the world? It was not one single factor that caused the colonies to rebel, but a number of missteps by the smug and out of touch English government that caused the colonies to declare their independence in July 1776. The first missteps that started the revolutionary wheels turning happened when parliament enacted the Sugar Act in 1764 followed by the Stamp Act in 1765. In the wake of the French and Indian War, Britain had amassed a massive wartime debt. • 23. Solution For The Problem Solution Problem Solution The solution for the problem we observe is to design a product that has floss connecting to the toothbrush. That way, people who forget will be reminded to include this in their everyday routine. The consumers would be able to take the floss out. We think this is going to be the outcome because 30% of adults say they do not have it in handy, now they do! Conclusion Our solution was successful, but there was some things that could be fixed. Our suggested solution to the problem was successful because we were able to remove the floss successfully, keep the dental floss cutter in place, and we were able to remind the user to floss. When we tested this product, there was some things that could have been improved. When in use, water got to the bottom, and slightly removed the glue. To fix this, we could put a cover at the end, so it would prevent the water from going in. It was also difficult to take the floss out of the product, but it was possible. Next time, we could make an opening big enough so users do not have a problem with taking the floss out. Some possible problems noticed in the test is that the floss could slip to the very bottom, and it would be extremely difficult to get out. To fix this, we could put a slit near the dental floss cutter to prevent the floss from accidentally going to the bottom. Another difficulty that is most likely to come off is having to ... • 24. The Military Instrument Of National Power Instruments of national power encompass all of the means available to a government in its pursuit of national objectives. It is expressed as diplomatic, economic, informational and military aspects. Of the four instruments of national power, the military instrument has had the most impact on the cycle of Western interaction with the rest of the world. Military strength generally determines the ability of one nation to impose its will upon another nation. Many military advancements allowed the West to become the first to explore the world and, eventually, to dominate these nations. This use of the military instrument of national power was continued when the developing world used this instrument to free themselves, or, in some cases, attempt to free themselves, from Western influence. The military instrument of national power ensured that the West would come to interact with, and dominate, the developing world, and that these developing countries would take offense to this control thus guaranteeing that their future interactions with the West would not be amicable. The military instrument of power was one of the most influential instruments because it was one of the first to be examined as a potential instrument of power. It was not surprising that this instrument was developed after the rise of mercantilism. It was the mercantilists who were the first thinkers who undertook, although with insufficient analytical tools, the study of military potential. They were themselves ... Hospital Sketches Louisa May Alcott Summary In the nonfictitious narrative Hospital Sketches, written by Louisa May Alcott in 1863, she develops a strong argument concerning human compassion in a time of war. She was able to do this with strong uses of dialogue, pathos, and figurative language. The dialogue present in the narrative provides feelings of sorrow for the patients like John. When John asks whether or not the doctors think the battle is going to be his last, Alcott responds with I m afraid they do, providing a mood of hopelessness for John s future, and pity for him (Alcott para. 7 8). Alcott also has feelings of survivor guilt, in which she feels bad about living when people like John are dying for their country. She feels empathy, and wants to be able to help John bear it so he can live (Alcott para. 5). She has compassion for him, and she will be sorrowful to see him go. In 1989, Lydia and her husband, Lou, decided to start planning to open up a new Italian restaurant in Virginia. The restaurant industry, especially in the Washington DC area is very competitive. It is highly competitive with respect to price, value and promotions, service, location, and food quality. There are a substantial number of restaurant operations that compete for customer traffic, some of which have significantly greater resources to aggressively market to consumers, which could result in losing market share. Consumers are highly focused on value and if other restaurants are able to promote and deliver a higher degree of value, guest traffic levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The actual building of the inside of the restaurant took place first. This took approximately two months to complete and in the meantime, Lydia and Lou were planning menus, marketing plans, and thinking about how they wanted to conduct their business. This included the types of benefits they wanted to give their employees, how many people they wanted to hire, how they wanted to run their business, what foods would be served, and which types of people they wanted to appeal to. In March 1991, the building of the restaurant was completed and Lydia finally was able to design the inside of the restaurant and decorate according to her personal taste. She gave the restaurant a simple, Italian style feel that would appeal to the area that the restaurant was located in. Paintings by her brother in law would hang on every wall along with having hand painted antiques throughout the restaurant. The set up of the restaurant took about a month. In late April of 1991, Lydia and Lou decided to take the planning process to the next level and decided to start executing some of their plans. This is when some of the setbacks started to take place. When starting this new business venture, technology wasn t popular yet and they needed to market their new restaurant to the clients that they wanted to appeal to. They weren t to see how to go about doing this. Their menu would be moderately priced and there were many surrounding businesses close by. They thought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the representation of Mary Magdalene in The Bible, right through to J.K Rowling s Hermione Granger, story tellers and subsequent authors have seen fit to include such characters in their work. Of course one must remember that a lot of such novels would have been written by male authors, as was considered proper and that many female authors such as the Bronte sisters, who famously wrote under the masculine pseudonyms of Action , Currer and Ellis Bell were not permitted to write at all and had to do so under false names. The nicknames that Torvald calls her wife Norah are a symbol of how he views his wife to be inferior to him. They also portray the weak relationship that exists between them. Examples of these names include spendthrift, squirrel, and sweet tooth. Certainly, the names denote Torvald s power that he has over Norah. When he calls Norah squirrel, it means that Torvald does not see his wife a human being but rather an animal. This is evidenced in In Act One when he asks Is that my squirrel rummaging around (Törnqvist 45). Norah is seen to agree to this, but she does not even say anything is concerning the nickname. Here, Torvald has power over his wife and views himself to be superior compared to Norah. On the other hand, Norah knows that these names downgrade her, but she chooses to accept them. One of the key symbols from the play is the Christmas tree. This is a tree that is decorated during the Christmas festive season. It is a symbol of the position that Norah has in her household. According to the play, it depicts that Norah is merely an object that is pleasing for one to look at and she adds liveliness to the household. Roger And Me Post Industrialization: an attack on the individual Roger Me (1989) by the famous activist documentary film maker Michael Moore explores the themes of post industrialism in his home town of Flint, Michigan while trying to track down Roger Smith the GM of General Motors who began shutting down Flint auto plants in 1985, eliminating over 30,000 jobs. Within the post industrial theme, the film explores several key ideas that tie neatly into the concept of the attack on the individual. The key ideas are found in Flint s crime escalation post factory shutdowns, the trend of the wealthy distancing themselves from the masses, and finally the relocation of factories and mechanization of labor. The film Roger Me encapsulates how profit driven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the 1980s and 1990s, the construction of new prisons jumped from 16 new prisons a year to 245 in rural and small town communities across the United States (Huling, 198). The rise accommodate the increasing number of individuals caught in the vast War on Drugs net. The core piece here is that Flint workers were incarcerating their former automobile factory co workers. Sold on the idea that prison jobs were family sustaining ones (Che, 814), i.e. good benefits and a pension, not unlike the once stable auto manufacturing jobs Flint used to have (Often the jobs were not as good or as entry level as advertised). Now the only solution to unemployment was essentially incarcerating friends. Incarceration is dehumanizing; it is turning individuals into capital to fill the beds of private prisons. It is rather ironic that Flint auto mobile workers, who built cars that seemingly liberated individuals from geography and the urban degradation, were now locking up and cutting away the other s freedoms. And at the same time, prisons helped to distance the wealthy from the poor and black inner city masses. The creation of private spaces illuminated class inequality. Moore s major mission of the film was to track down General Motor s GM Roger Smith and convince him to come to Flint, Michigan to see the damage his factory shutdowns created. Throughout the trek, Moore visits country and athletic clubs, the GM headquarters, Holiday conventions, and a Great Gatsby themed party to talk to Smith. My fundamental question was what are the significant contributions (and who contributed) to America s present school system? Schools in America have gone back years since 1635 starting in Boston, Massachusetts which lead to the first school being named the Boston Latin school. With the opening of the first school many teachers and leaders focused on religious values instead of specific subject areas as we would today. However, there have been changes in the way we teach the future generations that are different from the 1600s. In order to see these changes we have to take a time machine back to the 1800s, 1990s, and 2000s. The 1800s brought Americans the common school movement, Horace Mann, the Committee of Ten, and the Prussian system in America. In addition great advancements have been made in the school system, but not as much advancement has been made since the 1800s. This can be a problem as the internet and technology blossomed in the late 1990s and today many teachers have questioned if we should really teach the same way we did almost 180 years ago. From the past we have gotten common core, standardized testing or teaching children as if they are on an assembly line which all come into question in today s school system. Programs such as KIPP or Khan academy are showing how children can be in classrooms that are more student led. Also first year teachers can find a way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
