Persuasive Essay On Life Saving Drugs
Companies selling life saving drugs are raising prices and causing people to not be able to
afford the drugs they need to survive. Not everyone can pay hundreds of dollars for a couple of
pills to help them survive. Many people s lives will be in danger because they don t have the
money to buy these drugs. The government should control the prices of these life saving drugs
so that people will be able to afford them. The prices of these drugs need to be lowered to save
lives. These companies don t care about you health, they re just thinking about the money. There
has been an instance of a drug being marked up from $13.50 to $750 a tablet overnight. Also, a
drug called revlimid had a price jumped from $78,000 a year to $156,000. A majority of
American families have less than $5,000 in savings. This drug can help patients that have
multiple myeloma, a rare and vicious cancer of the blood. These two drugs could be life saving,
but the companies who own them are still making them way more expensive than they need to
be. A grievance of the Declaration of Independence says He has refused to agree to laws that are
necessary for the public good. People with life threatening illnesses or allergies are suffering
because the companies that own these drugs are raising prices because they want more money.
They are profiting off the suffering of others. Some reasons that they are so expensive is because
doctors and pharmacies will try to get you to buy the most expensive name brand drugs. Also,
there is a lack of generic drugcompetition. In fact, one of the most effective drugs, statins, are
hardly mentioned in pharmaceutical advertising. Statin can also help treat the leading cause of
death in the United States, heart attacks. They cost as little as $4 for a 30 day supply. The
Constitution Preamble, it says that the government is expected to promote the general welfare of
the people of the United States (Pmbl). However, the government doesn t help the public know
that there are cheaper drugs that are just as effective. Things such as EpiPens are now also being
marked up about 450%. They used to be $50 for one injector. Now they are $600 for two injectors,
only sold in packs of two. The actual dose of the hormone

Constantine I Outline
Constantine I, a.k.a. Constantine the Great, was a Byzantine (or Eastern Roman) emperor who is
widely credited for the conversion of the empire to Christianity. Born on February 27 in c. 280
C.E. in what is now called Serbia, he was originally named Flavius Valerius Constantinus after his
father, a renowned army officer. [ Constantine I] His death was on May 22, 337 C.E. in Ancyrona,
Bithynia (in present day Turkey). [ Constantine I ] Interestingly, when Flavius Valerius Constantinus
(the father) was appointed deputy emperor in the West, he left Constantine s mother to marry the
stepdaughter of Maximian. From there, the young Constantine was raised under emperor Diocletian
in the East. [ Constantine Biography ]
After rising to power as the sole emperor of Rome in 324 C.E, Constantine moved the capital city
from Rome to the site of ancient Byzantium, naming it Constantinople after himself. [ Heritage ]
Constantinople s biggest strategic advantage was that it was surrounded on all three sides by water.
Its position on the Bosporus Strait was easy to defend not only itself but parts of the eastern and
Danubian frontiers. [ Heritage ] With this change in location and that of system of ruling,
Constantine I established a period of unity and peace for Rome. However, though he ruled until his
death, the empire would only remain unified until the eighth century. [ Heritage ] ... Show more

The only possibility may be the Valens Aqueduct, due to the fact that it is unknown when its
construction began. [ Valens ] The purpose of the aqueduct was to bring fresh water into the city of
Constantinople (modern day Istanbul), as the land did not provide any nearby sources of fresh
water. Though most of it has been destroyed, parts of the Valens Aqueduct remain standing to this
very day, the most famous of which is located on AtatГјrk Boulevard in Istanbul, Turkey.

Immigration Vs Legal Immigration
In the past 10 15 years, the world has become more globalized with a higher degree of relevance.
As people have been moving since time began, the economy continues to improve when the local
economy is strong enough to accommodate the new influx of people and dropping when it is
weaker. In each U.S. presidential election, there are several key problems. One of the most debated
issues for candidates is immigration. This issue always points the illegal immigration, it is totally
different from legal immigration, in terms of their goals, the effects on the country and their values.
Firstly, illegal immigrants and legal immigrants can be treated as two sides of a same coin.
According to Roy (1996), the level of illegal immigration is increased with the level of legal
immigration at the same time. Similarly, when the level of legal immigration declines, the level of
illegal immigrants will also be reduced. The reason for this phenomenon can be interpreted as that
both the illegal immigrants and the legal immigrants chose immigrants for the same reason. For
example, people want to evade persecution based on race, religion, nationality or nationality, or
holding different political views. Therefore, the purpose of illegal immigrants and legal immigrants
are the same to some extent. However, the two methods of immigrations are completely different.
Mostly illegal immigrants enter the United States through smuggling, referring to immigrants who
non citizens illegally cross the

Measure For Measure, And, A Short Account Of The Destruction
The works discussed thus far illustrate that one must possess a strong sense of determination and a
lasting endurance in order to achieve a sense of freedom and independence from others. The works
Heptameron, Measure for Measure, and, A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies not only
highlight this notion, but also demonstrate the advancements in which one achieves when one goes
against the grain. In which involves one finding their sense of identity. In the work Heptameron, a
group of characters tell short narratives depicting social and moral values and practices of men and
women in the sixteenth century. In one particular story the nun retaliates against the Prior who tried

These works demonstrate that freedom is not a given but something for which one must strive.
Silence is the greatest inhibitor of progression. Silence not only inhibits one from freely
expressing themselves, but it also prevent one in expressing themselves freely. This silence was
seen in the collection of stories named Heptameron. In this collection of stories, one story in
particular deals with this idea of silence. This story features a Prior who tries to use his power to
seduce a nun. The Prior, being tired of trying to express his love for the nun, attempted to touch
her breast. When she pushed the Priors hands from her breast he responded, What business has a
nun to know that she has breast? In response to this she replied, and I am very certain that
neither you nor anyone else shall ever touch them (35). The tone in which Prior speaks suggest
he is coming from a more of a dominant role. He being a male figure only adds to him to feel
entitled. Thus only displaying how significant the nuns actions were. Not only does she
physically push away the Prior, but she also retaliates by stating that he has no role in tainting her
holiness. This depicts the power of the Prior over the nun, for she is supposed to be unmindful of
her body. The nun s retribution shows her disapproval of being silent about the Prior s actions. She
allowed her voice to be heard, and because of that it inhabited the Priors from causing more sexual
harm. Thus

To organise any events or fulfil the duties I would happily spend some of my break. I will take
the time out of my days to catch up in my studies and organise any events instead of watching
TV. Even though I will try to fit everything in and not just stay at home all day watching TV I
would still give myself some free time so I don t get stressed out or overworked. I would also be
prepared and ask for deadlines to make sure I do the tasks on time. I may even make a routine for
myself for example when I get home at around 4, I could change, eat and shower at a certain and
then spend a few hours on revising and homework, then spend some time on fulfilling my
responsibilities as a student leader.
6. Which public figurehead/leader is inspirational to you and why?
My inspirational leader would be Nelson Mandela, Nelson Mandela was a very important leader
in history, and he sacrificed most of his life for equal rights and opportunities to black people.
Nelson Mandela was the first black South African President and fought to stop racism. Mandela
was imprisoned in 1962; he spent 27 years in prison simply to save millions of people from slavery.

Should Public Funds Be Used To Support Art Essay
In recent years, people are more and more interested in the topic about if the funds are supposed
to support Art, and they are still straggling in this issue or even have some drastic online debate.
Public funds are the governmental foundations that gather money from the taxpayer to help run
the communal facilities. Due to read through a lot of research, which made by other specialist,
art is a good use of taxpayer s money if it offers the society job opportunity or economic
advantage. This is a direct quote said by Lauren, Minneapolis in the report which written by
Ringham (2009), Art is a good use of taxpayers money when it creates a cultural environment that
brings businesses and jobs to the area. This essay will examine and argue that public funds should
be used to support artistic project on events for two main reasons, educationand economy.
To begin with, students are the future of the society, and Art is a good public sector investment for
educational assets. If the government supports Art, more pupils can learn it earlier and more

from the above paragraph, if the government funds Arts, not only students will edify by it but also
the government itself can gain economic benefit. Here are two main solutions to the future: first
the governors can do some specific survey to get the views from the citizens; second is, increase

Antoine Henri Jomini
The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were turbulent eras generating several changes in the
way how commanders led the war. The world owes a debt to one man for interpreting and
recording his contributions to strategy and the art of war: Antoine Henri Jomini. The purpose of
this paper to explain why the Jomini s theories are a school of thoughts that remain adequate for
explaining warfare in the modern era. The importance of logistics, the acceptance of principles of
war, and the concept of the geometry of battlespace proposed by Jomini s theories are three broad
concepts that are still adequate for explaining in the modern era. Incorporating the logistics in the
planning process is a key task to achieve important militaryoutcomes. Clausewitz... Show more

Mallick argues that The Principles of War are the principles expressing the rules of military
thought and actions that serve as the permanent basis for combat doctrine. Ettrich mentioned
that to have a better understanding of how Jomini developed his principles of war creating a set
of thoughts that have remained relatively unaltered for approximately two centuries, it is
necessary to study his life, his intense studies of war, military career, and the circumstances that
shaped his tactical and strategic thinking. Jomini as the same way of other military philosophers,
tried to articulate his insights about of the art of war presenting his ideas through a list of
maxims or as a list of general truths whose application contributes to success in war, they may be
legitimately viewed, as the prototype of the modern principles of war . Jomini s maxims are the
closest thought to the modern principles of war. Without considering the fact that Jomini never
defined his concepts like general principles of war, nor did he provided precise details of the
fundamental principles he wrote, these have been adopted for many armies in the world. In
chapter six of Peter Paret s Makers of Modern Strategy: From Machiavelli to the Nuclear Age,
John Shy mentioned that many of the nineteenth centuries military leaders accepted Jomini s
maxims as valid principles. Ettrich recalls that historically, the Jomini s concepts of principles of
war were introduced to the United States in 1817 and were used initially at the US Military
Academy; these principles are still valid in the US Army doctrine. Weigley argues that during the
United States Civil War, military leaders from both sides embraced concepts and principles
learned while studying as contemporaries at the Military Academy prior to the rise and secession
of the Confederacy ; as a result, Union and Confederates leaders achieved

Race As A Social Construct
Race as a social construct refers to a group that is socially and culturally defined on the basis of
physical criteria. During European colonisation, Europeans came into contact with people from
different areas of the world and after speculating the physical, cultural and social differences
between the groups; these groups were placed in races. By defining racial classifications, racism
ensues. Racism is discriminating, exerting prejudice and or power over a group or individual
based on the belief that an individual s group is superior to another. Shadism is dependant upon the
existence of Racism. Shadism refers to the amount of melanin in a person s skin, which is used to
define a persons worth within that racial category.
Shadism and Racism are both a large part in Hollywood and the casting process.
There has been a recent concentration online on institutional racism in Hollywood; social media
movements have brought attention towards, the casting process and the lack of diversity at the
Oscars. The persistent snubbing of people of colour (POC) in Hollywood is being recognised.
However, has this changed the representation of POC in films?
The upcoming biography, drama, Nina (2016) has been the centre of much controversy and has
consequently, brought about conversations regarding shadism and blackface. In the trailer for the
film, actress Zoe Saldana plays Nina alongside her onscreen personal assistant David Oyelowo.

Please, let it be cholera.
Emma Bertrand pressed a hand against the churning in her stomach and forced herself to move

mother s bedchamber. Her father said the sickroom was no place for a twelve year old girl, but she
had to know for certain if her suspicions were true.
The only light filtering up the wide spiral staircase came from the gas lamps in one of the rooms
on the first floor. The unlit chandelier above the foyer tinkled softly as the wind outside seeped
through the cracks and crevices of the mansion on St. Charles. Muted voices drifted from
somewhere below. Her father and uncle discussing business, most likely. The few servants still...

Countless people have been hunted or persecuted, and left with the responsibility of how to

The Importance Of Human Development And The Stages Of...
Introduction
Surveys that have been conducted in the current times have revealed that there are many adults that
are returning to their parents at home. It s not the first time that this pattern is being experienced it
have happened in the past and it have always been accompanied with financial problems, it s no
different even now (Adler, 2001). It occurs when the economy is in real struggle this makes it
harder for the young men and women in the society to find their financial independence. Jeffrey
Arnett a psychologist came up with a suggestion that in these modern times the stages of
development are increasing (Mitchell, B 2006). He said that there is a new type of the
classification of the ages known as the emerging adults; this is what bridges the gap between the
adulthood and the adolescents. As per the theory it is believed that people while at their 20s
undergo a stage of development which is different from the stage of adulthood (Morton, R 2013).
This could serve as a good explanation why most of the young adults remain in their parents home
completely.
Relevance to human development field
This survey is a great benefit to the field of human development in that it will enable them to
develop a treatment plan that will be successful. It will also enable them to stand in the position of
pioneers in their respective fields. It also helps them to understand better the situation. This makes a

The Napoleonic Er The Causes Of The Napoleonic Era
The Napoleonic Era can be said to have begun with the Coup of 18 Brumaire, which overthrew the
Directory (and is often believed to have brought the French Revolution to a close), and established
the French Consulate, along with the appointment of Napoleon as First Consul in the winter of
1779. Preceding this time, the French were fighting a loosing battle against the Ottomans
throughout Egypt, Greater Syria, and the Levant. Once Napoleon became the de facto ruler of
France, he began massive reforms. The spread of citizens rights into law began, representative
assembly took hold, religious toleration became the norm, the country was re organized into
departments, and the metric system was invented. Upon becoming First Consul, Napoleon

had himself declared Emperor, and crowns himself in the company of a (bribed) pope. The

bulk of the most noteworthy Napoleonic victories of the Era begin to occur, such as those of
Ulm, Trafalgar (including the death of Lord Nelson), and Austerlitz, resulting in the defeat of the
Holy Roman and the Russian Empire. The Confederation of the Rhine was created at this time
and initially included 16 member states, with Saxony and Westphalia joining later. In 1806,

The General Adaption Syndrome
The general adaption syndrome or sometimes referred to as GAS is a collection of symptoms of
a stress disease named by Hans Selye in the 1930s. GAS is defined as sequenced physiological
responses to the presence of a stressor, involving the alarm, resistance, and exhaustion stages of the
stress response. GAS is a three stage process that describes the physiological changes that the body
goes through when stressed. These stages are alarm, resistance, and exhaustion. The alarm stage is
involuntary and the changes are controlled by the hormonal and nervous system. Once you are
exposed to an event that is threatening or dangerous, the body immediately prepares for difficulty.
The hormones and nerves trigger the fight or flight response. Your

Wystan Hugh Auden Research Paper
The English American poet, Wystan Hugh Auden, better known as W. H. Auden, was known for
his ability to craft poems in different styles centering his work on different moral, social, and
political issues. W.H. Auden is recognized for having some of the most renowned poetry of the 20th
century due to his ability to use ancient moral issues, and relate them to current events of the time.
Even though Auden had a talent for using his personal experiences to create poetryof love and
suffering, some of his most powerful poems are written upon the immortality of war. Focusing on
totalitarian dictators, Auden created two of his most moving poems, September 1, 1939 and The
Shield of Achilles . Auden uses his poetry to express the ways bureaucratic dictatorship is used to
control citizens, leading dictators to unleash war upon the world. Due to his knowledge of the
potential destructive tendencies of dictators, Auden uses his poetry to convey the message that the
power of enduring human spirit has the ability to counteract the harmful effects of dictatorship if
civilians suppress the power of the tyrant. Wystan Hugh Auden was born on February 21, 1907, in
York, England. Auden was raised in a strict and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Speech On Poverty And Poverty
These days, poverty is one of the challenging issues that most of governments are dealing with
and want to find an effective solution to eradicate it. Poverty is the inability of people to buy
basic needs and access basic services of their life. For example, based on a statistic provided
Afghanistan is known as the second poor country among the Asian countries and this rate shows
that the majority of people in Afghanistan are living under the povertyline. In addition, they do not
have sufficient money to provide their basic needs. As the numbers of rich people are increasing

John Keats in his poem refers to it like as if it was a person when he says thy hair soft lifted by the
winnowing wind saying that it lifts your hair and on the line before it is wrote thee sitting
careless on a granary floor I believe this also refers to a person as we aren t perfect and people are
careless so he could be referring to it as a kind of lazy person who just sits around all day looking
beautiful. A few lines further on it says and sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep this meaning
that when it picks things up it picks them up and once again referring to a person on how they pick
things up.
John Keats seems to go into detail in the surroundings of Autumn when he mentions the moss`d
cottage trees and the cyder press saying this I think it means he likes that way of life or that he
used to live like that and knows what the experience is like.
In the next poem which is called autumn and is wrote by John Clare.

Violence In Venezuela
Long has it been known that South America has more than its fair share of crime and violence.
This was seen globally during the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics in the country of Brazil.
Onlookers were horrified by the number of reports, and videos showing tourists being attacked and
robbed by locals. Brazil is not the only country in South America that has a problem with violence
though, due to widespread poverty many countries struggle to maintain lawfulness. One of those
countries is Venezuela, a socialist country on the verge of complete societal collapse. Crimeand with
it, violence runs rampant through Venezuela, in large part because of a corrupt government that
either refuses to acknowledge the problems or refuses to do anything about them.... Show more

Those supporters then use their leverage, power, and wealth to secure themselves and their
families. This good old boy system leads to corrupt police, an unfair and politicized judicial
system and many other problems that stem from the wrong people being placed in highly
influential jobs. This can all be tied into the functionalism theory of sociology, where Venezuela
can be thought of as a living organism. Government is one of six core systems in sociology, and
is kind of like the central nervous system to the organism. If the government is not working
properly, this can affect education, which in turn may affect family dynamics. This breakdown in
one system leads to strain on the other systems of the organism, and it will eventually cause the
whole to fail. The people at the top, those in the government have thus far kept themselves from
feeling the burden of poverty and hunger. This however is unsustainable, and if the government is
not properly preforming the job it was designed to do than it would need to be replaced. Just as a
living organism would adapt a new and better system to continue living, so too will Venezuela
adapt a new

Web Service And Web Services
ABSTRACT
Web Services are modular, self describing, self contained and loosely coupled applications that
can be published, located, and invoked across the web. With the increasing number of web
services available on the web, the need for web services composition is becoming more and more
important. Nowadays, for answering complex needs of users, the construction of new web services
based on existing ones is required.
This problem is known as web services composition. However, it is one of big challenge problems
of recent years in a distributed and dynamic environment. The various approaches in field of web

David Alexander Colville History
The new program was very different from that which came before it. For starters, the CWR only
employed 31 artists who were given very specific instructions on the type of artwork they were to
produce. The artists themselves represented a cross section of the Canadian art community. Some
had been well established before the war; others had shown promise and were chosen on that
account. Unlike their predecessors, who had been bound by nothing and were free to paint anything
which provoked feeling, the artists were limited not only in subject matter but also in the medium
of artwork, its size, and the quantity needed. The instructions charged the artists with portraying
significant events, scenes, phases, and episodes in the experience of the Canadian Armed Forces,
and required each of the 31 artists hired to produce two 40x49 inch canvases, two 20x34 inch
canvases, and ten 22x30 inch watercolours. The artists were divided among the Army, Navy, and
the Air Force, with the home front being largely ignored.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the war, Colville was one of only three artists selected to paint what remained of the
Bergen Belsen Concentration Camp in Germany. The horrors that he witnessed inspired painting
such as Bodies in a Grave, Belsen, which featured four emancipated corpses as the subject matter.
Colville s realism was warmly received on the international stage, especially in Germany. Colville
believed that this was due to the German people s closer connection to the frightening scenes that
he painted. The war had deeply affected Colville s perception of the world, and throughout his
career he presented an often lonely and darker view of society in his paintings. For Colville, war
and art were forever intertwined. As an Official War Artisthe was also part of a tradition extending

How Did James Madison Contribute To The Constitution
James Madison is often considered the Father of the Constitution because many of his ideas

contributions. Many of Madison s contributions intended for the constitution to protect the citizens
of the U.S. from tyranny of the government. James Madisonbelieved there was many forms of
tyranny and wanted to protect the citizens against all types. Madison believed the most popular

Acquainted With The Night Essay
Robert Frost s Acquainted with the Night is written in Terza Rima, a very uncommon form first
used by Dante Alighieri, the famous Italian poet. Terza Rima is a very cyclical form, with the
unusual rhyme scheme interlocking the stanzas. Frost uses this form to represent the cyclical
nature of his night time journeys to the edge of town, as well at the cyclical nature of depression
and suicidal ideation. The most interesting thing about this poem is how ambiguous it is, and how
Frost goes about creating the ambiguity. It is extremely straight forward, and is not hard to
interpret literally. However, this straightforwardness is what makes it interesting, because it
allows for many interpretations. The meter for this work is near perfect, in a way that seems
almost like a routine. It doesn t falter, and this could represent the way the speaker walks every
night, hoping to find something to shake him out of his misery. Terza Rima is not Frost s usual
fare, and while he was known to experiment with form, he wasn t known to do so without purpose.
The form plays well with the poem overall, with its repetitive nature and the repetitive nature of the
poem itself. I have been one acquainted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In The Case for Servant Leadership, author Dr. Kent M. Keith proposes that servant leadership is
the most beneficial wholesome for a leadership model. Keith presents that the power leadership
model does more harm than good, lacks problem solving, fails to grasp opportunities, and does not
have the intention to create a better world unlike the service leadership model.

the power model, leadership is focused on accumulating and wielding power in order to make

What Is The Mood Of Heart Of Darkness Imperialism
Situate passage into the plot of the story. Marlow has just come across a part of Thames which
he refers to as a part of darkness too. Conrad had just went on to list a lot of English seamen

conquerers which is nothing to brag about, This is in stark contrast to what the narrator of the
book had just finished stating, thus suggesting that the narrator is the average persoective while
Marlow expresses Conrad s true thoughts. Moreover, Marlow describes what he dislikes so much
about these conquerers and even makes his opinion clear: that we shouldn t classify people as
brutes just because they look different from us.
Including Conrad s arguably most memorable line ( The conquest of the earth [...] is not a pretty
thing when you look into it too much, ) this passage conveys the contrast between the illusion the
public had of colonialism in the Congo with the reality. Earlier in the book, Conrad went on to list
various great knights who were the English imperialists, thus glamorizing the way in which
Europeans colonized all of Europe. Furthermore, the passage emphasizes that the colonialists had

Speech On Plastics

In a response to a recent rise in the number of plastic bags, debate has resurfaced in the media
regarding the extensive use and deposition of plastic bags. Stakeholders which include the
Australian Retailers Association, governments of different states and various legislations have
implemented measures to reduce the total number of plastic bags that are being consumed and

animals and the exponential cost on recycling plastic bags. In the opinion piece titled, Forget, reuse
and recycle. Let s flat out reject plastic bags, which appeared on 31 August 2017 in the Courier

plastic bags are an ongoing concern and change that is necessary is disregarded. Dr Clinton has put

the oceans, but also violate the environmental terms and affect many marine organisms. The author

Kambili and Jaja both come of age because of their experiences, especially their experiences with
their cousins, Obiora, Amaka and Chima. The roles of these 3 characters play a significant part
in the novel and in Kambili and Jaja s lives. Both Jaja and Kambili start building their own
identity by choosing their own paths. The only path they have now is decided by their Father.
They live with scheduled days which is booked to the hour. Education comes first and they have
no time to make friends. In the beginning of the book they both have severe social problems and
are basically minions of their father. They obey every single word. It only took an action or
utterance to make Jaja and Kambili realise that the way they are living, is not the way to go.... Show

She lives with her catholic Father, mother and her younger brother Jaja. Because of her stern
upbringing and harsh catholic rules as well as being a victim at the hands of her father, she is
too afraid to speak the truth. When her father broke her mother s figurines [she] meant to say
[she] is sorry that papa broke [her] figurines, but the word that came out were, I m sorry your
figurines broke, Mama (Adicie 10). She will never admit that her father s actions are wrong and
immediately translates what she wants to say to what she should say. Whenever she tries to speak
she will stutter or start coughing therefore even though she is trying to say something, she still

Similarities Between Cool Hand Luke And One Flew Over The...
Many situations can make a man lose his mind, or make him more insane. Between the movie
Cool Hand Luke and the novel One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey, sanity is
questioned. These two pieces of literature also question the jurisdiction and methods that take
place in prisons and mental wards. Both stories demonstrate the idea of strength, making your
own happiness, and the symbol of fear or punishment. In the novel, McMurphy represents
strength, for even his hands, Were thick and strong closing over mine, and my hand commenced
to feel peculiar and went to swelling up out there on my stick of an arm, like he was transmitting
his own blood into it. It rang with blood and power, (Kesey 25). He is seen as a symbol of strength

The first time that Luke tries to escape, he is caught and forced to wear a chain around his legs.
The same thing happens to him again when he tries to run away for a second, but instead of
wearing one chain around his legs, he is forced to wear two. The box also symbolizes fear in
Cool Hand Luke, for it is punishment for breaking the rules at the prison grounds. After each
attempt to escape Luke is thrown into the box for a couple of nights as well. The chains and the
box are used to instill fear in the prisoners, and it normally works but with a few exceptions like
Luke. No prisoner wants to spend the night alone in the box or walking around with their legs
tied together, so normally they behave and follow the rules. The box and the chains are in place
to do exactly that, for people with a criminal background cannot be trusted to do the right thing
on their own. Prisoners need a push to be led in the right direction, and in this case, the Captain
uses fear to keep the prisoners that work for him in line. He also uses people who act out, like
Luke, to set an example for the rest of the prisoners and show them what could happen to them and
make them fear

Musical Genres And The Musical Genre
Exploring how genre is constructed, negotiated, maintained and defined. Musical genres are
agreed by theorists to be very fluid categories. This hypothetical statement has been proven again
and again as time has passed. What was the same rock in 1980 is not close to what is rock today.
Because genre is always developing, the questions begin with who controls the reasoning behind
genre. Exploring the purpose of genre, this paper will identify how genre has been constructed and
defined. It will explore how promotors negotiate genre in order to maintain a consumer market.
This questioning gives answers to whether musical categorizing is defined primarily by
sociological definition or musical. Genre is constructed from ideas, contexts and assumptions about
an artist. Qirko argues that genre is is constructed sociologically as it constantly undergoes revision
as producers and consumers select the roots that best reflect their needs at given time ( Qirko,
2013). Audiences authenticate music through their own criteria to form and establish group
identities. Because of this, Qirko identifies genre as an interpretation and translation of whatever
the consumer wants it to be. Frith s idea s of the construction of genre comes in relation to the
record companie s fantasy consumer. This idealization of a listener targeted directly by a genre
assumes a manageable relationship between musical label and consumer(Frith, 1996). This means
record copanies generate more of musical

Environmental Issue Raised By The Mining Industry
The mining industry has seen an explosive growth from the past few decades. It has played an
important role in economic growth, infrastructure development and a raise in the living standard of
the whole world. According to the Australian National Accounting System, the mining sector has
made contributions of 9.8% GDP growth to the Australian economy between 2008 to 2009
(Australia Bureau of Statistics, 2012). However, the miningindustry has caused many environmental
issues such as adverse effect to air, land and water quality and continues to affect global
environment as a whole. According to the World Health Organization, it evaluated that 25% of
worldwide death are directly associated with environmental pollution(Blacksmith Institute, n.d).
This essay will outline the environmental issue raised by the mining industry with pinpoint focus on
the effects to air, water and land. It will also provide strategies for mining companies to improve the
environmental conditions.
Surface mining process include the excavation of overburden including the profitable topsoil and
regular vegetation has spread to meet the mineral ores (singh, et al. 2010). These activities are
connected with destructive impact to neighborhood. Proper planning needs to be done in mining
since it is a short term environmental activity with long term hazards. There are several measures
which can be implemented to prevent the harmful effects of mining. Mining exercise are completed

The Importance Of A New Land Unspoken Language
As stated earlier knowing the local market is important. Mr. Gaffney was quoted saying If the
local issues can t be solved we won t do business there. Since shareholder s approval is important
he said, If we can t meet shareholder expectations we won t get involved . The reason Mr.
Gaffney learned that communication is important was not only due to involvement with coworkers
but with the language barriers as well. When deciding to enter a new land unspoken language won
t make business very profitable in the new land. This reasoning is when he believed that having
skilled local workers is key when working in a foreign country. You need that individuals that can
understand the rules and regulations of the host country as well as adopt the methods of the
business entering the foreign country. An example that he used was how South America doesn t
have a market in trains. If they were to inter that market they would send teams to work with the
locals to develop new technology that would benefit the region and bring about profit. South
America might not have much of a railroad market but other countries do. Competition is an
important development that BT keeps track of. It was stated saying that you always have to adapt
your business model based on competition. We then closed out the interview with one major
questions. We asked about any advice that he could give a college graduate about how to perform
well in international business. His response was something that he felt as

Differences Between Worldview And Worldview Essay
Differing Worldviews Worldview, how a person views the world, affects all parts of a person s
life and attempts to answer the foundational questions of knowledge, G d, origin, miracles, and
thought. Many factors influence a person s worldview some factors include geography, family
background, religious background, schooling, and many others. When two people with two
different worldviews interact with one another, some interesting points where they agree and
disagree with each other can arise even if the conversation is one way. In trying to find a person
to interview concerning their worldview, I decided to interview my cousin, Andi, and had the
opportunity to talk with her over the phone as she headed to her volleyball tournament. During
this conversation, Andi answered a lot of questions I had about her religion, and was also able
to get a glimpse into some of what she believed. Throughout our conversations I would ask some
foundational questions, and her answers would start a chain of other questions that lead to a very
informative and intriguing interview, one that left me thinking about what I believed on the
issues I posed to her. The first series of questions I asked Andi, concerned her background both
religious and familial. To begin the conversation, I asked her where she had lived during her life,
and she replied saying that she had always lived in Alabama, which is part of the Bible belt, and
that somehow this has not affected my beliefs. At first it

The Epic of Gilgamesh
The story about Gilgamesh is one of the earliest pieces of world literature dating back to the
second millennium B.C.E. This story has been evolved gradually over a long span of a
millennium, and has been enjoyed by many nations. The Epic of Gilgamesh teaches life lessons that
apply to the past and present while revolving around the question of what it means to be human, and
to experience the phenomenon of friendship, love, and death.
Notably, the thing about human life is that everyone desires friendship or to be simply not be
alone. In the story of the epic of Gilgamesh talks about how friendship changed his whole life.
Gilgamesh used to be a terrible ruler led by arrogance, and brutality of his people. He was
overconsumed with power, therefore doing whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. It seemed
that Gilgamesh grew bored of life, and had a deep hole in his heart as such something was
missing from his life. One day Gilgamesh told his mother I want a friend for my own counselor,
for my own Counselor do I want a friend (Foster 106). He needed someone to confide in as well
as talk too about his plans and future. Gilgamesh had everything in his life from riches to power,
but it seemed like the thing he craved more than success was someone to take the journey beside
him. In a

parameters of a PID controller in an Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) system by the approach
of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Differential Evolution (DE) Techniques is presented.
This paper demonstrated in detail how to employ the PSO and DE methods to search efficiently
the optimal PID controller parameters of an AVR system. A MATLAB simulation has been
performed. The proposed approach had superior features, including easy implementation, stable
convergence characteristic, and good computational efficiency. In order to assist estimating the
performance of the PID controller using PSO and DE, Minimum Error Integral (MEI) criterion
Integral Absolute Error (IAE), Integral Square Error (ISE), Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE)
and Integral Time Square Error (ITSE) are used.

Disguise And Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice And...
The concept of disguise has been known and used since the beginnings of drama, but this
concept was most famously known for being used in plays written by the biggest playwrights of
the Elizabethan era especially for being used in William Shakespeare s plays. What do we mean
by disguise? In broad terms, it would mean pretending to be something that one is not. The concept
of disguise can mean changing behavior, or hiding intentions, the most frequent form of disguise is
the change of ones personal appearance, usually through the changing of clothes, to mask ones true
self. Shakespeare used disguises in various ways in his plays; As You Like It, Measure for Measure
,
The Merchant of Venice, and Twelfth Night were all plays in which Shakespeare used the concept
of disguise as a device to further the plot, it was sometimes even used for comic relief. Disguises
can be used both maliciously and/ or morally, depending on its use and its influence on the
characters. In both Merchant of Venice and Measure for Measure, both Portia and Duke Vincentio
donned a disguise to pursue justice how they saw morally fit, but ultimately their deceptionwas only
for selfish gain; Portia disguises herself to save a friend, and Vincentio disguises himself to know
the true feelings of his subjects, both manipulate the law in the name of justice while in their
disguises.
In The Merchant of Venice, the concept of disguise was briefly used by Jessica, Shylocks daughter,
to escape her fathers home to

Essay on Literature Review on Unemployment
Literature Review on Unemployment
Introduction
Unemployment is recognised as one of the most challenging social problems currently facing
Australia. In the last two decades and more recently with the global recession high levels of
unemployment have become an established feature of the South Australian social and economic
landscape, with young people aged 15 to 24 years among those hardest hit by unemployment.
In the past quarter the unemployment rate in South Australia has remained steady at 5.6%
(Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2009) but this figure is volatile and may increase next month. The
youth unemployment rate, however, in South Australia remains at 21.9% with the Western and
Northern suburbs having significantly higher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The absence of employment, therefore, can mean that many people do not have vital human needs
met such as an opportunity to exercise control, to use and develop skills and have contact with
others.
The research literature shows a strong association between unemployment and ill health. Some
illness is caused by unemployment whilst other health problems are exacerbated by unemployment
( Smith, 1987; Mathers Schofield,1998). An Australian summary of the health and unemployment
literature by Mathers and Schofield (1998) identified that unemployment has detrimental effects on
mental health, physical health and health related behaviours.
Mental Health
The evidence that unemployment has negative effects on mental health is strong. Mental health
effects on young unemployed people include low self esteem and confidence
( Gurney, 1980; Prause and Dooley, 1997), increased incidence of depression ( Patton and Noller,
1990; Winefield et al, 1993; West Sweeting, 1996), stress related symptoms ( Hammarstrom,
1994) and higher levels of anxiety ( Morrell et al, 1994; West Sweeting,1996). In their study,
Morrell et al (1998) find a strong association between unemployment in young 15 to 25 year olds
and youth suicide.
Physical Health
Research has shown the links between unemployment and higher morbidity and mortality rates(
Mathers and Schofield) where health outcomes are poorer and premature deaths are

The Most Important Elements Of Medieval Architecture In...
Many people have heard of fairy tales in which monarchs live in grand, stone castles. These castles
did, in fact, exist; they were built and became popular during the Medieval era. Medieval
architecture was divided into two main styles: Gothic and Romanesque. In addition to castles,
numerous personal manors, basilicas, and cathedrals were constructed. This architectural movement
was paired with both the expansion of Catholicism and the transition between the middle agesand
modern history. The most important elements of Medieval architecture are appearance and design,
purpose, and connections to the history of eastern Europe.
The buildings constructed in Medieval times differed from their predecessors both in the the
interior and exterior design. As mentioned in the article Architecture in Shakespeare s Time, in
most large houses there was a chapel, which was often treated in a style more domestic than
ecclesiastical, and thus differed from the chapels in Medieval houses, a difference due most
likely to the change in religious outlook (Gotch). During the Medieval times, religion was
flourishing in Europe following the fall of the Roman Empire. Also in most homes was a gallery.
Noted by one source, The gallery was a room peculiar to this period; it came into fashion with
Hampton Court, about 1530; it was an essential feature of all the large Elizabethan and Jacobean
houses, and it went out of fashion about a hundred years after its introduction (Gotch). Gotch also

Overview of Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease
Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD) Variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD) is a rare
and fatal human neurodegenerative condition falling under the category of Transmissible
Spongiform Encephalopathy (TSE) because of having characteristic of spongy degeneration of
the brain that it causes and its ability to be transmitted. First it was described in the United
Kingdom in March 1996 and it has been connected with exposure to a TSE of cattle known as
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) sometimes called Classical BSE, having been
reported first in 1986 in the United Kingdom. Prior to identification of vCJD, the widely known
human TSE, Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (CJD), had been thought to have only three forms of
existence, (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, 2012). The first form was
Iatrogenic CJD, caused by accidental transmission by contaminated surgical equipment or the
administration of human deprived pituitary growth hormones or from corneal or meningeal
(dura mater) though this always account for less than 5% cases of CJD. The second form is
familial CJD, which has been linked with gene mutation, though as well form still smaller
percentage of 5 15% cases of CJD. The last form is sporadic CJD, which has been identified to be
occurring all over the world at the rate of one per million people, and has the highest number of
CJD cases falling under the range of 85%. Contrary to the traditional forms of CJD, infection of
vCJD has been more

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Life Saving Drugs Companies selling life saving drugs are raising prices and causing people to not be able to afford the drugs they need to survive. Not everyone can pay hundreds of dollars for a couple of pills to help them survive. Many people s lives will be in danger because they don t have the money to buy these drugs. The government should control the prices of these life saving drugs so that people will be able to afford them. The prices of these drugs need to be lowered to save lives. These companies don t care about you health, they re just thinking about the money. There has been an instance of a drug being marked up from $13.50 to $750 a tablet overnight. Also, a drug called revlimid had a price jumped from $78,000 a year to $156,000. A majority of American families have less than $5,000 in savings. This drug can help patients that have multiple myeloma, a rare and vicious cancer of the blood. These two drugs could be life saving, but the companies who own them are still making them way more expensive than they need to be. A grievance of the Declaration of Independence says He has refused to agree to laws that are necessary for the public good. People with life threatening illnesses or allergies are suffering because the companies that own these drugs are raising prices because they want more money. They are profiting off the suffering of others. Some reasons that they are so expensive is because doctors and pharmacies will try to get you to buy the most expensive name brand drugs. Also, there is a lack of generic drugcompetition. In fact, one of the most effective drugs, statins, are hardly mentioned in pharmaceutical advertising. Statin can also help treat the leading cause of death in the United States, heart attacks. They cost as little as $4 for a 30 day supply. The Constitution Preamble, it says that the government is expected to promote the general welfare of the people of the United States (Pmbl). However, the government doesn t help the public know that there are cheaper drugs that are just as effective. Things such as EpiPens are now also being marked up about 450%. They used to be $50 for one injector. Now they are $600 for two injectors, only sold in packs of two. The actual dose of the hormone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Constantine I Outline Constantine I, a.k.a. Constantine the Great, was a Byzantine (or Eastern Roman) emperor who is widely credited for the conversion of the empire to Christianity. Born on February 27 in c. 280 C.E. in what is now called Serbia, he was originally named Flavius Valerius Constantinus after his father, a renowned army officer. [ Constantine I] His death was on May 22, 337 C.E. in Ancyrona, Bithynia (in present day Turkey). [ Constantine I ] Interestingly, when Flavius Valerius Constantinus (the father) was appointed deputy emperor in the West, he left Constantine s mother to marry the stepdaughter of Maximian. From there, the young Constantine was raised under emperor Diocletian in the East. [ Constantine Biography ] After rising to power as the sole emperor of Rome in 324 C.E, Constantine moved the capital city from Rome to the site of ancient Byzantium, naming it Constantinople after himself. [ Heritage ] Constantinople s biggest strategic advantage was that it was surrounded on all three sides by water. Its position on the Bosporus Strait was easy to defend not only itself but parts of the eastern and Danubian frontiers. [ Heritage ] With this change in location and that of system of ruling, Constantine I established a period of unity and peace for Rome. • 4. Immigration Vs Legal Immigration In the past 10 15 years, the world has become more globalized with a higher degree of relevance. As people have been moving since time began, the economy continues to improve when the local economy is strong enough to accommodate the new influx of people and dropping when it is weaker. In each U.S. presidential election, there are several key problems. One of the most debated issues for candidates is immigration. This issue always points the illegal immigration, it is totally different from legal immigration, in terms of their goals, the effects on the country and their values. Firstly, illegal immigrants and legal immigrants can be treated as two sides of a same coin. According to Roy (1996), the level of illegal immigration is increased with the level of legal immigration at the same time. Similarly, when the level of legal immigration declines, the level of illegal immigrants will also be reduced. The reason for this phenomenon can be interpreted as that both the illegal immigrants and the legal immigrants chose immigrants for the same reason. For example, people want to evade persecution based on race, religion, nationality or nationality, or holding different political views. Therefore, the purpose of illegal immigrants and legal immigrants are the same to some extent. However, the two methods of immigrations are completely different. Mostly illegal immigrants enter the United States through smuggling, referring to immigrants who non citizens illegally cross the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These works demonstrate that freedom is not a given but something for which one must strive. Silence is the greatest inhibitor of progression. Silence not only inhibits one from freely expressing themselves, but it also prevent one in expressing themselves freely. This silence was seen in the collection of stories named Heptameron. In this collection of stories, one story in particular deals with this idea of silence. This story features a Prior who tries to use his power to seduce a nun. The Prior, being tired of trying to express his love for the nun, attempted to touch her breast. When she pushed the Priors hands from her breast he responded, What business has a nun to know that she has breast? In response to this she replied, and I am very certain that neither you nor anyone else shall ever touch them (35). The tone in which Prior speaks suggest he is coming from a more of a dominant role. He being a male figure only adds to him to feel entitled. Thus only displaying how significant the nuns actions were. Not only does she physically push away the Prior, but she also retaliates by stating that he has no role in tainting her holiness. This depicts the power of the Prior over the nun, for she is supposed to be unmindful of her body. The nun s retribution shows her disapproval of being silent about the Prior s actions. She allowed her voice to be heard, and because of that it inhabited the Priors from causing more sexual harm. Thus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world owes a debt to one man for interpreting and recording his contributions to strategy and the art of war: Antoine Henri Jomini. The purpose of this paper to explain why the Jomini s theories are a school of thoughts that remain adequate for explaining warfare in the modern era. The importance of logistics, the acceptance of principles of war, and the concept of the geometry of battlespace proposed by Jomini s theories are three broad concepts that are still adequate for explaining in the modern era. Mallick argues that The Principles of War are the principles expressing the rules of military thought and actions that serve as the permanent basis for combat doctrine. Ettrich mentioned that to have a better understanding of how Jomini developed his principles of war creating a set of thoughts that have remained relatively unaltered for approximately two centuries, it is necessary to study his life, his intense studies of war, military career, and the circumstances that shaped his tactical and strategic thinking. Jomini as the same way of other military philosophers, tried to articulate his insights about of the art of war presenting his ideas through a list of maxims or as a list of general truths whose application contributes to success in war, they may be legitimately viewed, as the prototype of the modern principles of war . Jomini s maxims are the closest thought to the modern principles of war. Without considering the fact that Jomini never defined his concepts like general principles of war, nor did he provided precise details of the fundamental principles he wrote, these have been adopted for many armies in the world. In chapter six of Peter Paret s Makers of Modern Strategy: From Machiavelli to the Nuclear Age, John Shy mentioned that many of the nineteenth centuries military leaders accepted Jomini s maxims as valid principles. Ettrich recalls that historically, the Jomini s concepts of principles of war were introduced to the United States in 1817 and were used initially at the US Military Academy; these principles are still valid in the US Army doctrine. During European colonisation, Europeans came into contact with people from different areas of the world and after speculating the physical, cultural and social differences between the groups; these groups were placed in races. By defining racial classifications, racism ensues. Racism is discriminating, exerting prejudice and or power over a group or individual based on the belief that an individual s group is superior to another. • 16. The Importance Of Human Development And The Stages Of... Introduction Surveys that have been conducted in the current times have revealed that there are many adults that are returning to their parents at home. It s not the first time that this pattern is being experienced it have happened in the past and it have always been accompanied with financial problems, it s no different even now (Adler, 2001). It occurs when the economy is in real struggle this makes it harder for the young men and women in the society to find their financial independence. Jeffrey Arnett a psychologist came up with a suggestion that in these modern times the stages of development are increasing (Mitchell, B 2006). He said that there is a new type of the classification of the ages known as the emerging adults; this is what bridges the gap between the adulthood and the adolescents. As per the theory it is believed that people while at their 20s undergo a stage of development which is different from the stage of adulthood (Morton, R 2013). This could serve as a good explanation why most of the young adults remain in their parents home completely. Relevance to human development field This survey is a great benefit to the field of human development in that it will enable them to develop a treatment plan that will be successful. It will also enable them to stand in the position of pioneers in their respective fields. It also helps them to understand better the situation. The Napoleonic Er The Causes Of The Napoleonic Era The Napoleonic Era can be said to have begun with the Coup of 18 Brumaire, which overthrew the Directory (and is often believed to have brought the French Revolution to a close), and established the French Consulate, along with the appointment of Napoleon as First Consul in the winter of 1779. Preceding this time, the French were fighting a loosing battle against the Ottomans throughout Egypt, Greater Syria, and the Levant. Brazil is not the only country in South America that has a problem with violence though, due to widespread poverty many countries struggle to maintain lawfulness. One of those countries is Venezuela, a socialist country on the verge of complete societal collapse. This good old boy system leads to corrupt police, an unfair and politicized judicial system and many other problems that stem from the wrong people being placed in highly influential jobs. Government is one of six core systems in sociology, and is kind of like the central nervous system to the organism. If the government is not working properly, this can affect education, which in turn may affect family dynamics. This breakdown in one system leads to strain on the other systems of the organism, and it will eventually cause the whole to fail. The people at the top, those in the government have thus far kept themselves from feeling the burden of poverty and hunger. For starters, the CWR only employed 31 artists who were given very specific instructions on the type of artwork they were to produce. The artists themselves represented a cross section of the Canadian art community. Some had been well established before the war; others had shown promise and were chosen on that account. Unlike their predecessors, who had been bound by nothing and were free to paint anything which provoked feeling, the artists were limited not only in subject matter but also in the medium of artwork, its size, and the quantity needed. The instructions charged the artists with portraying significant events, scenes, phases, and episodes in the experience of the Canadian Armed Forces, and required each of the 31 artists hired to produce two 40x49 inch canvases, two 20x34 inch canvases, and ten 22x30 inch watercolours. Terza Rima is a very cyclical form, with the unusual rhyme scheme interlocking the stanzas. Frost uses this form to represent the cyclical nature of his night time journeys to the edge of town, as well at the cyclical nature of depression and suicidal ideation. The most interesting thing about this poem is how ambiguous it is, and how Frost goes about creating the ambiguity. It is extremely straight forward, and is not hard to interpret literally. However, this straightforwardness is what makes it interesting, because it allows for many interpretations. The meter for this work is near perfect, in a way that seems almost like a routine. Between the movie Cool Hand Luke and the novel One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey, sanity is questioned. These two pieces of literature also question the jurisdiction and methods that take place in prisons and mental wards. Both stories demonstrate the idea of strength, making your own happiness, and the symbol of fear or punishment. In the novel, McMurphy represents strength, for even his hands, Were thick and strong closing over mine, and my hand commenced to feel peculiar and went to swelling up out there on my stick of an arm, like he was transmitting his own blood into it. The same thing happens to him again when he tries to run away for a second, but instead of wearing one chain around his legs, he is forced to wear two. The box also symbolizes fear in Cool Hand Luke, for it is punishment for breaking the rules at the prison grounds. After each attempt to escape Luke is thrown into the box for a couple of nights as well. The chains and the box are used to instill fear in the prisoners, and it normally works but with a few exceptions like Luke. No prisoner wants to spend the night alone in the box or walking around with their legs tied together, so normally they behave and follow the rules. The box and the chains are in place to do exactly that, for people with a criminal background cannot be trusted to do the right thing on their own. Prisoners need a push to be led in the right direction, and in this case, the Captain uses fear to keep the prisoners that work for him in line. He also uses people who act out, like Luke, to set an example for the rest of the prisoners and show them what could happen to them and make them fear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Musical Genres And The Musical Genre Exploring how genre is constructed, negotiated, maintained and defined. Musical genres are agreed by theorists to be very fluid categories. This hypothetical statement has been proven again and again as time has passed. What was the same rock in 1980 is not close to what is rock today. Because genre is always developing, the questions begin with who controls the reasoning behind genre. Exploring the purpose of genre, this paper will identify how genre has been constructed and defined. It will explore how promotors negotiate genre in order to maintain a consumer market. This questioning gives answers to whether musical categorizing is defined primarily by sociological definition or musical. Genre is constructed from ideas, contexts and assumptions about an artist. Qirko argues that genre is is constructed sociologically as it constantly undergoes revision as producers and consumers select the roots that best reflect their needs at given time ( Qirko, 2013). Audiences authenticate music through their own criteria to form and establish group identities. Because of this, Qirko identifies genre as an interpretation and translation of whatever the consumer wants it to be. Frith s idea s of the construction of genre comes in relation to the record companie s fantasy consumer. This idealization of a listener targeted directly by a genre assumes a manageable relationship between musical label and consumer(Frith, 1996). This means record copanies generate more of musical ... Mr. Gaffney was quoted saying If the local issues can t be solved we won t do business there. Since shareholder s approval is important he said, If we can t meet shareholder expectations we won t get involved . The reason Mr. Gaffney learned that communication is important was not only due to involvement with coworkers but with the language barriers as well. When deciding to enter a new land unspoken language won t make business very profitable in the new land. This reasoning is when he believed that having skilled local workers is key when working in a foreign country. You need that individuals that can understand the rules and regulations of the host country as well as adopt the methods of the business entering the foreign country. An example that he used was how South America doesn t have a market in trains. If they were to inter that market they would send teams to work with the locals to develop new technology that would benefit the region and bring about profit. South America might not have much of a railroad market but other countries do. Competition is an important development that BT keeps track of. When two people with two different worldviews interact with one another, some interesting points where they agree and disagree with each other can arise even if the conversation is one way. In trying to find a person to interview concerning their worldview, I decided to interview my cousin, Andi, and had the opportunity to talk with her over the phone as she headed to her volleyball tournament. During this conversation, Andi answered a lot of questions I had about her religion, and was also able to get a glimpse into some of what she believed. Throughout our conversations I would ask some foundational questions, and her answers would start a chain of other questions that lead to a very informative and intriguing interview, one that left me thinking about what I believed on the issues I posed to her. The first series of questions I asked Andi, concerned her background both religious and familial. The concept of disguise has been known and used since the beginnings of drama, but this concept was most famously known for being used in plays written by the biggest playwrights of the Elizabethan era especially for being used in William Shakespeare s plays. What do we mean by disguise? In broad terms, it would mean pretending to be something that one is not. The concept of disguise can mean changing behavior, or hiding intentions, the most frequent form of disguise is the change of ones personal appearance, usually through the changing of clothes, to mask ones true self. Shakespeare used disguises in various ways in his plays; As You Like It, Measure for Measure , The Merchant of Venice, and Twelfth Night were all plays in which Shakespeare used the concept of disguise as a device to further the plot, it was sometimes even used for comic relief. Disguises can be used both maliciously and/ or morally, depending on its use and its influence on the characters. In both Merchant of Venice and Measure for Measure, both Portia and Duke Vincentio donned a disguise to pursue justice how they saw morally fit, but ultimately their deceptionwas only for selfish gain; Portia disguises herself to save a friend, and Vincentio disguises himself to know the true feelings of his subjects, both manipulate the law in the name of justice while in their disguises. • 53. The Most Important Elements Of Medieval Architecture In... Many people have heard of fairy tales in which monarchs live in grand, stone castles. These castles did, in fact, exist; they were built and became popular during the Medieval era. Medieval architecture was divided into two main styles: Gothic and Romanesque. In addition to castles, numerous personal manors, basilicas, and cathedrals were constructed. This architectural movement was paired with both the expansion of Catholicism and the transition between the middle agesand modern history. The most important elements of Medieval architecture are appearance and design, purpose, and connections to the history of eastern Europe. The buildings constructed in Medieval times differed from their predecessors both in the the interior and exterior design. As mentioned in the article Architecture in Shakespeare s Time, in most large houses there was a chapel, which was often treated in a style more domestic than ecclesiastical, and thus differed from the chapels in Medieval houses, a difference due most likely to the change in religious outlook (Gotch). During the Medieval times, religion was flourishing in Europe following the fall of the Roman Empire. Also in most homes was a gallery. Noted by one source, The gallery was a room peculiar to this period; it came into fashion with Hampton Court, about 1530; it was an essential feature of all the large Elizabethan and Jacobean houses, and it went out of fashion about a hundred years after its introduction (Gotch). First it was described in the United Kingdom in March 1996 and it has been connected with exposure to a TSE of cattle known as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) sometimes called Classical BSE, having been reported first in 1986 in the United Kingdom. Prior to identification of vCJD, the widely known human TSE, Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (CJD), had been thought to have only three forms of existence, (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, 2012). The first form was Iatrogenic CJD, caused by accidental transmission by contaminated surgical equipment or the administration of human deprived pituitary growth hormones or from corneal or meningeal (dura mater) though this always account for less than 5% cases of CJD. The second form is familial CJD, which has been linked with gene mutation, though as well form still smaller percentage of 5 15% cases of CJD.
