Common Sense and Conflict Essay example
Common Sense and Conflict
Michael Eisner is an American entertainment executive, whose leadership in the 1980s and 1990s
revitalized the Walt Disney Company. Born in New York City, Eisner was educated at Denison
University, where he studied literature and theater. After graduating in 1964, he worked for six weeks
as a clerk at NBC and then briefly in the programming department at CBS. His career crystallized at
ABC, which he joined as a programming assistant in 1966 and where he spent the next ten years,
ultimately becoming senior vice president of prime time production and development. Eisner s rise
through the corporate ranks was paralleled by ABC s leap from third place to first place in the network
viewing ratings. In 1976 he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you have a strict culture with a million rules, I see that it affects the whole organization and it
makes the internal employees not perform as well as they should. At Walt Disney world, they are
entertaining people so their culture is set in being energized, fun and exciting. Having this type of
culture also bring more people into the company and these talented individuals may have the next
million dollar idea. One of Eisner s ways of getting people to be idea generators was by having
systems called the gong show and charettes . These two systems were great ways to get people to
speak their thoughts and generate ideas. They would meet once a week and people would say ideas
and they would get reactions from other people at the meeting. Having these two systems was a good
way for people in an organization to know one another and how they tend to operate. Also, it is one
way for an organization to become big and successful.
One of the things I don t agree with in Eisner s style of being an idea generator is how these meetings
are driven with long hours, and sometimes being day after day. He would put everybody in the same
room for ten to twelve hours or even for a couple of days. He feels the longer the better and the more
excruciating the better. I can t see basically torturing people in one room for hours at a time thinking
that it is going to help generate ideas. I feel that these meeting should have been

Factors that Leads Teens to Commit Suicide
Several factors, emotional and physical, can contribute to a teen s decision to take his or her own life.
Adolescent suicide rates have no doubt risen over the past 50 years, but the question is, why? As our
world continues to advance decade by decade, modern day teenagers experience problems that are
quite different than those faced by teens from previous generations. One distinct, modern influence of
teenage suicide is social media. Naturally, most teenagers today own or have access to a smart phone,
computer, or other device that can be used to connect to the internet and view a countless number of
social websites. Social media can be entertaining and a fun, fast way to connect with friends and
family, but it also has its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some parents often put an extreme amount of pressure on their teen regarding his or her school work,
athletic abilities, or even body image. In other cases, parents can verbally or physically abuse their
child, creating feelings of worthlessness. The growing divorce rate in the United States may also
contribute to the increasing teen suicide rate. As of 2012, the average divorce rate in America was
approximately fifty percent, meaning that half of all U.S. marriages would legally end in divorce (
Divorce Rate 1). Divorce can have a tremendous effect on not only one family as a whole, but most
harmfully, the children. Lastly, the availability of handguns in the home has much greater
consequences than one might imagine. Averaging at forty five percent, death by the use of a firearm is
the most popular suicide method of people between the ages of ten and twenty four ( Suicide
Prevention 1).
Adolescence is the key period of development in which teens are trying to find themselves, resulting
in risk taking and exploration. Teenagers often struggle during this stage because they are not sure of
where they fit in society, school, or occasionally their own family. For example, during adolescence,
some teens come out as being homosexual. Homosexuality is not wrong; however, sometimes others
simply don t understand or frown upon young people who claim to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Being

Differences Between SCM-And Control Trials
Our meta analysis revealed that premotor reaction times are indeed faster in SCM+ than in SCM trials.
The estimated magnitude of this effect across the studies may be long enough to entertain the
possibility that motor programs are triggered via a pathway that bypasses some cortical areas of the
brain [1, 23], but not fast enough to completely rule out cortical involvement [11]. Although, the meta
analysis showed that the effect associated with SCM activity is robust across studies, the heterogeneity
test approached significance and depended on the correlation coefficient chosen for the studies for
which data was not available: an increase in the correlation coefficient from 0.5 to 0.56 resulted in a

[25, 26]). In contrast, although premotor RTs in response to loud acoustic stimuli ( 114 dBa) are
somewhat heterogeneous, differences in premotor RT as a function of foreperiod variability are clearly
mitigated, showing similar average estimates and overlapping confidence intervals for the subgroups
(see Figure 4). Why are responses initiated earlier when SCM activity is detected? Maslovat et al. [10]
proposed that the detection of SCM activity indicates that a more direct neural circuit, common with
the startle reflex, was responsible for involuntarily triggering the prepared response. Thus, when
responses occur without SCM activity (SCM ), the longer typical neural circuit involving the auditory
cortex would trigger the motor response. This model would explain why responses are faster when
SCM activity is observed. Interestingly, the StartReact effect can still be observed when the startle
reflex is abolished due to the presentation of a less intense stimulus before the go signal (pre pulse
inhibition or PPI)[16]. This is counterintuitive because it suggests that the more direct neural circuit is
still activated when the transient activation of the midbrain nuclei by PPI stimulus exerts long lasting
inhibition of the giant neurons of the caudal pontine reticular nucleus [34]. Alternatively, we have
suggested that the apparent correlation between SCM activity and premotor RT could be a result of
variations in the build up of

Consequences Of The Columbian Exchange
The columbian Exchange had many significant consequences and results for the Americas, Europe,

some are detrimental. The columbian exchange started in 1492. The tragic day when Columbus ran up

The columbian exchange actually refers to the exchange of foods, diseases, ideas, and people in

Effects Of Martial Law In The Philippines
On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos issued Proclamation 1081, declaring martial law
over the Philippines. It has been 44 years since that dreadful day, but the scars still remain in the heart
of every Filipino citizen. Martial Law proclaims that an area is placed under the control of the Armed
Forces of the Philippines. It is usually imposed when the government or civilian authorities fail to
function effectively. The reason behind the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines was to
suppress a series of bombings, threat of a communist takeover, and an assassination attempt on
Secretary of Defense Juan Ponce Enrile in Mandaluyong. This was also imposed to save the republic
and to improve the social, economic, and political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, these good gains did not last long. Basic human rights were not attained during the Martial
Law. People at that time did not practice being disciplined at that time, but instead, they followed
orders because they feared the authorities who had the power to arrest civilians who would disobey
the rules. With power given to the military to save democracy, they committed a number of human
rights violations. An estimate of 7,000 victims of torture, 2,000 people salvaged, and 1,000 people
disappeared. (Malanes, 1999) Statistics are not just numbers. This was a serious case of human rights
violation wherein thousands of lives were lost and thousands of families destroyed. Thus, the Martial
Law is considered as the darkest days of democracy. Human rights violations is the best evidence that
there was no democracy in the Philippines during Ferdinand Marcos regime. Additionally, the
economic crisis and debt crisis caused by the Martial Law made the country suffer. Unemployment
rates were high and poverty in the Philippines only grew larger. A lot of people remember fondly the
peace and order brought by the Martial Law, but the brutal side of the Marcos regime brought us
Filipinos into hardships, sufferings, and

Narcissus Scryer
Based on this description, Ovid s Narcissus effectively appears to demonstrate these specific
characteristics of the scryer and the scrying process as Nelson outlines them. Just as the scryer was
predominantly a young and bodily pure boy, Ovid describes Narcissus as being sixteen years old and a
virgin untouched by the Legions of lusty men and bevies of girls that desired him (Ovid
Metamorphoses 3.351 353). He is also described as a paradigm of beauty equal to that of the gods of
Apollo of Bacchus (Dionysus): he saw twin stars [...] rippling curls like the locks of a god, Apollo or
Bacchus, [...] a glorious face (Ovid Metamorphoses 3.421 423). Additionally, Narcissus likewise
expresses the psychological naivety of the scryer as his eyes are deceived, and he does not at first
recognize his own reflection in the water (Ovid Metamorphoses 3.431). ... Show more content on

Pardon of Richard Nixon
Controversial Pardon of Richard Nixon
HIST102
American History Since 1877
Instructor:
22 February 2014
Former President Richard Nixon is most well known for his role in the Watergate crisis in the early
1970 s. The Watergate crisis started in June of 1972, when the Democratic National Committee (DNC)
headquarters was broke into by members of Nixon s re election committee. The press took this
breaking news and began to dig deeper into what the Whitehouse (President Nixon) was hiding. Over
the next two years heavy investigations into the Watergate incident revealed that President Nixon did,
in fact, ordered a cover up to keep the incident under control. Fearing impeachment, President Nixon
resigned his presidency in August 1974, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, the controversy did not stop with whether or not the pardon was constitutional.
Political arguments were by far more compelling than the constitutional arguments. Politically, Ford
knew there would be loss in public standing, relations with Congress, and the Republican Party s
fortunes in the 1974 elections. 12 However, he also realized that because of media publicity Nixon
would not receive a fair trial. This is where the controversy begins. People, such as Firmage and
Mangrum, argued that the law must be applied to all persons equally and no one, not even a public
official be permitted to violate the laws with impunity. 13 What they failed to realize were the extreme
circumstances in which Nixon fell under surrounding Watergate. As a former president Nixon was one
of the most powerful figures in the world; the amount of bad publicity he received would not allow for
a fair trial. Special Prosecutor Jaworski was a firm believer that this type of publicity would make
innocent until proven guilty null and void if Nixon were to go to trial.14 Ford s choice to pardon
Nixon prior to a trial was a well thought out plan of action given the circumstances.

Relationship Between The Federal Government And The States
The relationship between the Federal government and the states is well stable. The Federal
government has powers given by the Constitution as well powers or privileges are given to the states
which promotes a balance between the two so that our country is not ruled under one specific party or
group. The question now is that, are the states rights more than well protected in the current
constitution and the political practice. The Constitution is the structure of a political system. It
establishes governmental bodies, grants powers, determines how to select members and impose rules
by which they make the decisions. Therefore, the Constitution can t be changed by ordinary acts of
governmental bodies. Along with the Constitution we have the Articles of Confederation. Under these
Articles congress was a single house where each state had 2 to 7 members but only one vote. They
selected executive judges and military officers as well as having power to make war and peace and
conduct foreign affairs. The ability to have money Congress could borrow and print money, but they
could not collect taxes or enforce laws, precisely it had to rely on the states to provide and enforce.
Articles of Confederation was written to be a framework for the government of the United States, it
established a firm league of friendship among the states rather than a government of the people.
(book) This Virginia plan called for legislature with two houses a lower house chosen by the people of
the states

Summary Of The Burning Of Bridget Cleary
The Burning of Bridget Cleary by Angela Bourke tells the investigation of a death of an ill woman
whom was believed to have been abducted and later killed by fairies. The young vibrant Bridget
Cleary became suddenly ill after receiving a chill while traveling to a relative s house. After walking a
total of 8 miles in the cold she later fell sick with bronchitis and pneumonia. These signs of weakness
spread rumors around a small town with a population roughly around 100 people. Suddenly Bridget
Cleary went missing, and her body was found a few days after she reportedly walked out of the house
to later return. The Burning of Bridget Cleary by Angela Bourke asserts that the burning of Bridget for

community were more than fond of Bridget many people personally knew her and interacted with her.
Bridget is described as, [a]ttractive, according to other accounts also, and evidently a strong
personality, she was well known around her home area, and not just among the laborers she was well
acquainted with the people in her community (Bourke 45). Her strong personality and her attractive
made her a threat to other people. Willingness to speak her mind was against the social normality
during this time in Ireland. Women were to be housewives rather a normal person. Women who were
not playing their roles in society were often accused of being fairies. Bridget inspired anxiety towards
other people due to her looks and her knowledge. Therefore when she fell ill the idea of making her a
person abducted by fairies was not farfetched. Bridget was seen differently than most people in
society, the identification of protesters as fairies is symbolic of the way they position themselves

To summarize, there have been times throughout journalistic history when deception and taking sides
was acceptable, but objectivity and responsibility were largely considered to be professional standards
as we entered the 21st century.
Deontology and Utilitarianism
Of the many methods for applying ethical theories to war reporting, I narrowed the choice down to
Deontology and Utilitarianism as referenced in the introduction.
Deontology involves applying a universal set of principles (Jordin 2009, p. 15)
. . . which makes the duty or the obligations we owe other human beings the fundamental principle of
ethics. Doing our duty is not based on a particular set of circumstances. Since acts are judged only by
their consequences, the means justify the ends.
Utilitarianism is defined by the consequences of actions, not the act s moral or intrinsic value. Jordin
(2009, p. 17) states, Where deontological theories thus talk more in terms about what is right,
consequentialist theories are more concerned with the good. Moral worth is determined by its ability
to produce the most amount of good for the greatest number. Here, the ends justify the means.
How can these two standards help answer our ethical dilemma? We can answer this question by
examining a few cases from the current Iraq conflict and others.

Social Anatomy of Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Violence This article goes through the disparities
in races in comparison to violence. Statistically blacks are six times more likely to die by homicide
than white people are (Robert J. Sampson, 2004). That is a significant gap between the two races. The
rates of Latino s have slowly been converging with the whites in more recent years. There are other
studies that are based on police statistics that show disadvantaged communities have the highest
violent crime rates. The authors are trying to show that segregation by these social context in turn

How Gender Roles Have Played A Big Part Of The History Essay
Gender roles have played a big part of the history of this country and in this new day and age are
becoming more progressive. Women in men gender roles are not at all such a horrendous idea. In
some cases, jobs traditionally performed by men, were done better by female employees but some
some careers are specifically meant for men. Women should not take part in military combat or any
career that carries the same physical demands. Here are two examples accompanied by arguments an
evidence that argue the above statement.
In this film a team of astronauts is forced to make a decision that leaves one of their own behind.
During a violent storm, while on Mars, commander Lewis (Jessica Chastain) is forced to leave one of
her astronauts when Mark Watney is struck by debris. He is presumed dead and is considered a great
loss to NASA, the Nation. Soon enough headquarters discovers that Watney is alive and they begin to
formulate a resupply and rescue mission. When NASA reveals to the Ares III crew that Watney is still
alive, they are given the choice to retrieve Watney themselves. As the crew begins to work together to
get Watney back, they run into vital issues that could cause theirs and Watney s death. (The Martian,
2015)

Commander in Chief is the nation s president whom has been a man the past forty five presidencies.

Greek Gods Essay
Greek Gods Gods have existed almost since the beginning of mankind, as people had things that they
worshiped such as the sun, the moon, and many other things. To me the Greeks had the most unique
gods, because they had many gods for many different things such as love, war, etc. The gods were
almost like human beings as they interacted in the lives of the people they watched over and the
people they cherished. The gods were said to have mixed with the humans to make half mortal and
half immortal people, blessed with certain powers. Today we all have one god, because it is the way
we were brought up, but there are many types of religions such as Christianity, Hinduism, etc. The

In the Iliad the gods would take different sides in war and they would interfere in the destinies of the
heroes. They would seduce both man and woman, because they were all jealous of one another and
that was a great part of the Greek way of life. The Greeks thought it was all right to love either sex,
because they thought it was normal to share what they felt. One of the most famous tales is that of
Hercules, as he is the son of Zeus and a mortal woman that Zeus seduced so he could have a son to be
a hero. Hercules is the god of strength and courage, but he did not become a god right away, because
the other gods would not except him, because he was made a god by the seducing of a woman. Zeus
would change his form and shape, he would become a winged horse, or any animal, and he would
appear as a young man with unbelievable looks. Aphrodite the god of love and a symbol of beauty
would help people fall in love and help Zeus find young woman and man so he could have sex with
either one. Hera was known to be jealous of all Zeus s fooling around so she would try to get him
back, but Zeus did not care. The gods were great in stature and great in powers so they did not live in a
heaven like the god we know of today, but they live on a mountain. It was not just any ordinary
mountain, but it was the biggest mountain in all of Greece and it was called Mt. Olympus. Olympus

Spatial Cognition is Necessary for Navigation and to...
1. Introduction
Spatial cognition concerns the ability to acquire, organize, store and retrieve knowledge of spatial
properties (e.g., location, distance, direction) in the complex environment in order to navigate and
perceive location precisely (Allen et al., 1996; Hardiess et al., 1999). It is one of the most important
abilities that animals and humans have to help them adapt and survive in the world. For example,
identifying food location, wayfinding, perceiving scenes are all based on this ability. For many years,
elegant behavioral, neurobiological and neuropsychological methods have been used to investigate the
spatial behavior of human and non human species (Denis Loomis, 2007). In this essay, I am going to
talk about how different neuroscientific approaches contribute to our understanding of neural bases of
spatial cognition and their role in related processes.
2. Brain regions involved in spatial cognition and related processes
Much studies using various methods, including single unit recordings, patient/lesion studies, non
invasive brain imaging and brain interference studies, have been done to investigate neural
mechanisms underlying spatial cognition. As results, researchers have found several brain regions
involved in processing of spatial information, including parietal cortex and hippocampus (Burgess,
Jeffery, O Keefe, 1999). Also, it is very important to know which reference frame is used when we
discussing spatial functions of these brain regions

Summer Is Better Than Summer Essay
Just think of tanning in the sand on a beach and sipping a sweet drink. To some, that sounds like the

weather category, but the foods and drinks! I believe that the summer s typical food and drink trends
are so much better. During the summertime most can find themselves enjoying light, cold, or grilled

Because of the low and dangerous Winter temperatures, it is not safe for elders or adolescents to be

The Christian Apologetics
At the onset of the Christian faith, its followers faced a difficult period in which they had to deal with
many internal and external forces of confusion about their new faith. With Christianity being a rather

beliefs and practices deeming why they are justifiable. In this apologetic period, these Jewish
Christians embark on the task of defending their church and the religion itself in order to establish its

The Internet is a network of networks. It is based on the concept of packet switching. Though the
services offered by Internet are extensively used from a layman to multi millionaire it also has its own
defects. Many attacks on Internet are being identified and reported. Some of the common types of
network attacks are eavesdropping, data modification, identity spoofing, password based attacks and
denial of service attacks. To overcome all these types of attacks an organisation usually installs an
intrusion detection system to protect the confidential data exchanged over its network. The local
network is then connected to the Internet thereby availing the employees to be online on the fly.
Information security has three main objectives namely 1. Data confidentiality 2.Data integrity 3. Data
availability. Data confidentiality ensures that the secure data can be accessed only by authorized
persons. Data integrity allows secure modification of data. Data availability ensures that the data is
available readily to authorized persons. Small scale industries often do not prefer on intrusion

sample solution. Spectrophotometric is a quick, reliable method that measures light in a quantitated
way, ensuring that electromagnetic radiation may be absorbed by matter. In order to understand how
radiation is absorbed you ll need to know that it depends heavily on the concentration of the
wavelength and the absorbing chemical within a sample. In this experiment, we will be exploring the
iron tablet that will be dissolved in acid so that it can cause reduction transformation into Fe2+ using
hydroquinone, and turned up using o phenathroline to create a colored complex. We will then use
those reagents to begin our procedure to sum up with our finish results. The finish results of each
sample solution (ranging in different mL ranges) will be measured by light absorbency using 508nm
wavelength. Understanding Beer s Law, we know that A=ɛbc with A equaling the absorbency, ɛ is the
molar absorptivity (M 1cm 1), b being the pathlength measured using cm, and c is the molar
concentration of a solution. Beer s law specifically explores the quantitative analysis of a
concentration of the radiation absorbed vs. the concentration of the absorbing chemical. The light
absorbency of the beam

Susan s work for women s rights began when she met a mother of young children by the name of

discriminating women. Susan organized state campaigns for legal reforms and delivered speeches
written by Stanton.
Elizabeth and Susan organized the National Women Suffrage Association and worked hard for a
constitutional amendment giving women the right to vote. Even though the 15th amendment allowed
newly freed slaves to vote, women of any race still could not vote. For ten years, Susan and Elizabeth
wrote their newspaper, the Revolution, focusing on the injustices suffered by women. In the 1872
presidential election, Susan decided to register and cast a ballot to protest for women s rights. She was
arrested, convicted, and refused to pay the one hundred dollar fine. Susan Anthony went to Europe in

The Safety Of Car Companies
Car companies can show the world they care about unfortunate back over accidents by willingly
adding rear view cameras to all cars sold. If all car manufactures did this, they will be showing their
consumers that they are aware that there is a major issue of children and the elderly getting injured by
these preventable accidents as well as show everyone they are willing to do whatever they can to
prevent these types of accidents from happening further. If car companies are able to set their greed
aside and look at the number of children s lives that could be saved if all vehicles were required to
have rear view cameras come standard in them it would create a higher demand for all vehicles as well
as show the world that these companies care more about preventing accidental tragedies rather than
making a profit. It s very important and should soon become a basic requirement for all cars in the
United States to have back up cameras.
Most car related accidents that happen directly to children under the age of 5 are known as back over
accidents. A back over sounds pretty self explanatory, and we all assume people would make sure they
always looked in their rear view mirrors before reversing however; it only takes a second for a child to
crawl behind a car into a driver s blatant blind spot. Back over accidents are when a car literally drives
over a person as it is reversing. 1,200 children under 15 who were killed since 2000 in non traffic

Why Is Hiroshima Wrong
Bombing of Hiroshima

Of all the political and military choices ever, few have been liable to a bigger number of investigation

Jimmy Carter s Middle East Peace Summit
Middle East Peace Summit Analysis of President Jimmy Carter
Former United States President Jimmy Carter has been influential in the Arab Israeli peace process for
many decades. His involvement began with brokering the Camp David Accords during his Presidency.
His efforts to wage peace have continued through the founding of the Carter Center and been
recognized through the winning of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize. At the time, many world leaders,
including Carter, believed that unrest in the Middle East could lead to a war between the superpowers.
In 1978, President Carter invited Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President
Anwar el Sadat to the presidential retreat in Camp David, Maryland. Carter s advisers suggested he
attempt only to create a general outline for a peace treaty; he responded they were aiming too low and
set the minimum goal as talking out a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. Carter said: ...by getting

political constituencies, I think I can bring them to understand each other s positions better. ... Show

Allegory In Fahrenheit 451
Research Paper Rough Draft
Fahrenheit 451 is one of the most celebrated and adored books of the 21st century. Ray Bradbury
creates a futuristic world that is meant to make the reader examine their own world more closely. This
book is an allegory about the dangers of societal censorship and technology. The author uses
symbolism and imagery to enhance the allegory s hidden meaning. This allegory touches on issues so
poignant that they are still as relevant today as they were in their own time. An allegory is a story that
can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning. This narrative strategy is used commonly by authors
today but has been around for centuries. It is a useful technique to persuade the reader to think outside
the box. The reader must see the story itself and also it s hidden intent. In other words, the story is
both figurative and literal silmultaneously. Fahrenheit 451 is a perfect example of this technique.
Literally, montag is a book burning fireman who faces a crisis of faith that will change his life.
Figuratively, montage represents each of us in a society where technology and government have taken
over large aspects of our lives. Ray Bradbury was an American author and screenwriter who has
worked with many genres. He is most well known for Fahrenheit 451. He developed concerns about
the vulnerability of books from a young age. He did not appreciate that some books were not deemed
literary enough for his public library. He was also greatly angered by

The Effects Of Contributions And Consequences Of Immulation
Summary
In this study by Gadagkar et al. (2016) they studied the mechanisms behind dopaminergic neurons and
auditory feedback. More specifically, they tested to see if dopamine encodes error in performance
evaluation tasks, such as singing (Gadagkar et al. 2016). In previous studies, they found that these
birds learn to sing through error related negativity in ventral tegmental area (VTA) neurons (Gadagkar
et al., 2016).
Methods
To test their hypothesis, they first recorded VTA neurons of zebra finches while listening to distorted
or undistorted songs (Gadagkar et al., 2016). They divided this experiment into two distorted
conditions one where the distorted feedback was one of the bird s own, and another synthesized sound

Analysis
This article by Gadagkar et al. (2016) is important to the literature as it introduces a marriage between
two concepts of classical ethology and comparative psychology biological underpinnings and learned
behaviour. Bird song clearly has a biological basis, as shown in the similar activation of VTAerror
neurons to reward prediction (Gadagkar et al., 2016). However, it also has a learning component, as
shown through the performance evaluation mechanisms (Gadagkar et al., 2016). Thus, it is essential in
showing that there is no one basis to behaviour.
Tinbergen s Four Questions Tinbergen came up with four essential questions to help comparative
psychologists and ethologists study animal behaviours. He discovered that both fields were essentially
studying the same concepts, but were studying different causes. These questions were later defined as
proximate and ultimate questions. The ultimate questions concerned the long term evolution of the
genes of an organism, such as questions of function or evolution. Meanwhile, proximate questions
were concerned with the causes of short term behaviour, such as immediate causation and
development. In the Gadagkar et al. (2016) study, the researchers were concerned with the immediate
causation, or the encoding of performance error in singing birds. Their question, consistent with
immediate causation as it dealt with one behavior in the short term and the mechanisms behind

Symptoms And Treatment Of An Idiopathic Etiology
As previously reported, Ms. Noid referred herself for a voice evaluation because of a chronic,
persistent dysphonia characterized by severe hoarseness and breathiness. She had a recent ENT report
indicating a left adductor vocal cord paralysis which is paralyzed in the intermediate position.
Furthermore, she has reported that her symptoms have persisted for 18 months, eliminating the
possibility of an idiopathic etiology. After completing a voice evaluation, recommendations for
medical clearance would include evaluations performed by a laryngologist, neurologist, and/or
evaluations performed by professionals who would be part of the client s medical team. The
recommendation for treatment options would be begin by educating the client, and providing her with
behavioral and medical treatment options. Furthermore, Ms. Noid would be informed with the benefits
and potential side effects of the various treatments. Since Ms. Noid, presents with a left adductor vocal
fold paralysis in the intermediate position (situated midway between abduction and paramedian
position), behavioral interventions could be applied before considering surgical treatments. With vocal
fold paralysis, Ms. Noid may have developed compensatory mechanisms, which can be eliminated
through education and proper compensatory techniques. Behavioral treatments that can be
implemented include: Pushing Techniques, Vocal Function Exercises, Resonant Voice Therapy, or Lee
Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT). Pushing

The History and Role of Accounting in Business Essays
Accounting can be defined in a number of ways, but I chose the book definition, which is; Accounting

condition of business. The person in charge of accounting is called the accountant. The accountant is
typically required to follow a set of rules and regulations. These rules and regulations are called the
General Accepted Accounting Principles. Throughout these next few paragraphs, I will be giving you

Management accounting is used to provide managers with information, so they can make informed
business decisions. The next category is open book accounting; this is defined as an accounting
principle that aims to improve accounting in organizations. Tax accounting is defined as the
accounting needed to comply with jurisdictional tax regulations. In other words, tax accounting is
used to put tax on goods and services. Accounting has revolved into what every company uses today
which is the equation of; Assets=Liabilties+Owners Equity. The meaning of this equation is to show
companies what they own and what they owe to there creditors and everybody else. Stakeholders can
be defined as a person, group, organization, or system that affects or can be affected by an
organization s actions. Examples of stakeholders in accounting are; owners, suppliers, customers,
government, employees, creditors, and labor unions. These people are classified into four categories;
Capital Market, Product or Service Market, Government, and Internal Stakeholders. Capital Market
Stakeholders provide the major financing for the business to begin and continue its operations. Some
examples of the stakeholders are banks and owners. Product or Service Market Stakeholders are

Analysis Of The Poem Cousin Nancy And Morning At The...
Cousin Nancy and Morning at the Window Poem Analysis and Exploration
Cousin Nancy
By T. S. Eliot
Miss Nancy Ellicott
Strode across the hills and broke them,
Rode across the hills and broke them
The barren New England hills
Riding to hounds
Over the cow pasture.
Miss Nancy Ellicott smoked
And danced all the modern dances;
And her aunts were not quite sure how they felt about it,
But they knew that it was modern.
Upon the glazen shelves kept watch
Matthew and Waldo, guardians of the faith,
The army of unalterable law.
Morning at the Window
T. S. Eliot, 1888 1965
They are rattling breakfast plates in basement kitchens,
And along the trampled edges of the street
I am aware of the damp souls of housemaids
Sprouting despondently at area gates. The brown waves of fog toss up to me
Twisted faces from the bottom of the street,
And tear from a passer by with muddy skirts
An aimless smile that hovers in the air
And vanishes along the level of the roofs.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be told you can t do something, because it s not
ladylike? It seems time and time again women in history were once told to be seen and not heard. T. S.
Eliot s poem Cousin Nancy broke barriers during its time with its writing about the modern woman.
Cousin Nancy may only be three stanzas, but Eliot s writing broke down barriers about the
stereotypical ideas of a poised,

Examples Of Isolation In The Ocean At The End Of The Lane
What if I told you, everything you do this very moment is driven by your unconscious desires, and
you had no idea about it? It hides deep in the abyss of your mind, influencing your actions and
thoughts. When a situation pops up, people deal with them according to their comfortability, but they
usually fall under a category defense mechanisms . This can be seen very clearly in Neil Gaiman s The
Ocean at the End of the Lane , as the conflicted characters are seen to have problems of their own, one
of them being loneliness. After much reading, it is observed that the characters have used defense
mechanisms of their own to react to loneliness. The characters of The Ocean at the End of the Lane

The narrator s father s reason behind his loneliness is mainly due to his wife s new job, as stated in

...unhappily married is associated with significantly lower levels of overall happiness, life satisfaction,
self esteem and overall health. (Hawkins Booth, 2005) Thus, the narrator s father turns to Ursula
Monkton to fulfill his desires, displaying projection as his defense mechanism as he thinks the feeling
was mutual. In chapter 8, the narrator catches his father having intercourse with Ursula Monkton and
thinks, ...now I was scared by what it meant that my father was kissing the neck of Ursula Monkton .

Essay about Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized
Marijuana s illegalization has always been erroneous. Early in the 1900s, a surge of Mexicans
immigrated to the U.S., and the marijuana they brought with them was quickly associated with them.
In the 1930s, tensions between white Americans and Mexican immigrants were heightened due to the
Great Depression, and the use of marijuana was ultimately prohibited for the general public in 1937
with the Marijuana Tax Act ( Marijuana Timeline ). By the 1960s, marijuana became a symbol of
counterculture, and the government stopped any research involved with its properties. In 1971,
President Richard Nixon began the War on Drugs, and marijuana was dragged into it. Nixon assigned
a commission to review the danger marijuana possesses, and the ... Show more content on

Studies by the British Medical Association and World Health Organization have concluded that
medical marijuana could be used to treat symptoms of certain diseases (Koch). Due to the extensive
testing that these two organizations did and the fact that they are very reputable, there is enough
evidence that medical marijuana should be used to help patients. Since marijuana is readily available,
and there is research to confirm its medical uses, there is no reason not to use it. Opponents of the use
of medical marijuana argue that it could have unintended societal consequences. Robert L. DuPont of
the National Institute on Drug Abuse argues that teen attitudes to marijuana are linked to medical
marijuana laws, and that medical marijuana would normalize drug use ( Teen Drug Use ). This is not
true. The Institute of Medicine was asked to conduct a study on medical marijuana by the White
House. The IOM concluded that, among other things, the use of medical marijuana would not increase
recreational usage rates of marijuana (Koch). Since this organization is clearly reputable, there is
enough evidence that the legalization medical marijuana wouldn t affect the general population s use
of marijuana in any way. Since DuPont also didn t provide any evidence for his claim, it can be
dismissed. Due to the evidence provided, it is clear that marijuana has positive health benefits. In
addition, marijuana should be legalized because its illegalization

Gender Discrimination
Our social justice issue is gender discrimination. Gender Discrimination is a major thing going on in
our world today. Therefore, gender discrimination happens in things such as sports, education, health,
employment, laws, and in different countries. Gender discrimination was a major thing in the past, and
is still a major thing today. Men continually think women are weak, and so women are targeted more
in crimes. They also think that women won t stand up for themselves, and women continually let men
bring them down because they aren t brave enough. In jobs they believe women won t work, and that
women aren t capable enough to do the job, so women end up getting paid less or have to work
ridiculously short hours. Today in our century, women are targeted more than men because they are
considered weak. Being labeled weak makes women are more vulnerable to at least one form of
abuse. 1 in 3 women are abused in some form at a time of their life by a man. Women are targeted for
crimes, such as home break ins, because if they live on their own, they are thought to not be able to
defend themselves that well. Women are also being killed all the time. In India, women are burned to
death if they can t meet financial requirements, while men aren t. In Egypt, women are killed if they
do something considered unclean in their family or outside their family. In South Asia more than 2
million baby girls are killed or abandoned to die because they are considered a financial burden to the

  • 2. Common Sense and Conflict Essay example Common Sense and Conflict Michael Eisner is an American entertainment executive, whose leadership in the 1980s and 1990s revitalized the Walt Disney Company. Born in New York City, Eisner was educated at Denison University, where he studied literature and theater. After graduating in 1964, he worked for six weeks as a clerk at NBC and then briefly in the programming department at CBS. His career crystallized at ABC, which he joined as a programming assistant in 1966 and where he spent the next ten years, ultimately becoming senior vice president of prime time production and development. Eisner s rise through the corporate ranks was paralleled by ABC s leap from third place to first place in the network viewing ratings. In 1976 he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you have a strict culture with a million rules, I see that it affects the whole organization and it makes the internal employees not perform as well as they should. At Walt Disney world, they are entertaining people so their culture is set in being energized, fun and exciting. Having this type of culture also bring more people into the company and these talented individuals may have the next million dollar idea. One of Eisner s ways of getting people to be idea generators was by having systems called the gong show and charettes . These two systems were great ways to get people to speak their thoughts and generate ideas. They would meet once a week and people would say ideas and they would get reactions from other people at the meeting. Having these two systems was a good way for people in an organization to know one another and how they tend to operate. Also, it is one way for an organization to become big and successful. One of the things I don t agree with in Eisner s style of being an idea generator is how these meetings are driven with long hours, and sometimes being day after day. He would put everybody in the same room for ten to twelve hours or even for a couple of days. He feels the longer the better and the more excruciating the better. I can t see basically torturing people in one room for hours at a time thinking that it is going to help generate ideas. I feel that these meeting should have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Factors that Leads Teens to Commit Suicide Several factors, emotional and physical, can contribute to a teen s decision to take his or her own life. Adolescent suicide rates have no doubt risen over the past 50 years, but the question is, why? As our world continues to advance decade by decade, modern day teenagers experience problems that are quite different than those faced by teens from previous generations. One distinct, modern influence of teenage suicide is social media. Naturally, most teenagers today own or have access to a smart phone, computer, or other device that can be used to connect to the internet and view a countless number of social websites. Social media can be entertaining and a fun, fast way to connect with friends and family, but it also has its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some parents often put an extreme amount of pressure on their teen regarding his or her school work, athletic abilities, or even body image. In other cases, parents can verbally or physically abuse their child, creating feelings of worthlessness. The growing divorce rate in the United States may also contribute to the increasing teen suicide rate. As of 2012, the average divorce rate in America was approximately fifty percent, meaning that half of all U.S. marriages would legally end in divorce ( Divorce Rate 1). Divorce can have a tremendous effect on not only one family as a whole, but most harmfully, the children. Lastly, the availability of handguns in the home has much greater consequences than one might imagine. Averaging at forty five percent, death by the use of a firearm is the most popular suicide method of people between the ages of ten and twenty four ( Suicide Prevention 1). Adolescence is the key period of development in which teens are trying to find themselves, resulting in risk taking and exploration. Teenagers often struggle during this stage because they are not sure of where they fit in society, school, or occasionally their own family. For example, during adolescence, some teens come out as being homosexual. Homosexuality is not wrong; however, sometimes others simply don t understand or frown upon young people who claim to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Differences Between SCM-And Control Trials Our meta analysis revealed that premotor reaction times are indeed faster in SCM+ than in SCM trials. The estimated magnitude of this effect across the studies may be long enough to entertain the possibility that motor programs are triggered via a pathway that bypasses some cortical areas of the brain [1, 23], but not fast enough to completely rule out cortical involvement [11]. Although, the meta analysis showed that the effect associated with SCM activity is robust across studies, the heterogeneity test approached significance and depended on the correlation coefficient chosen for the studies for which data was not available: an increase in the correlation coefficient from 0.5 to 0.56 resulted in a statistically significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [25, 26]). In contrast, although premotor RTs in response to loud acoustic stimuli ( 114 dBa) are somewhat heterogeneous, differences in premotor RT as a function of foreperiod variability are clearly mitigated, showing similar average estimates and overlapping confidence intervals for the subgroups (see Figure 4). Why are responses initiated earlier when SCM activity is detected? Maslovat et al. [10] proposed that the detection of SCM activity indicates that a more direct neural circuit, common with the startle reflex, was responsible for involuntarily triggering the prepared response. Thus, when responses occur without SCM activity (SCM ), the longer typical neural circuit involving the auditory cortex would trigger the motor response. This model would explain why responses are faster when SCM activity is observed. Interestingly, the StartReact effect can still be observed when the startle reflex is abolished due to the presentation of a less intense stimulus before the go signal (pre pulse inhibition or PPI)[16]. This is counterintuitive because it suggests that the more direct neural circuit is still activated when the transient activation of the midbrain nuclei by PPI stimulus exerts long lasting inhibition of the giant neurons of the caudal pontine reticular nucleus [34]. Alternatively, we have suggested that the apparent correlation between SCM activity and premotor RT could be a result of variations in the build up of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Effects Of Martial Law In The Philippines On September 21, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos issued Proclamation 1081, declaring martial law over the Philippines. It has been 44 years since that dreadful day, but the scars still remain in the heart of every Filipino citizen. Martial Law proclaims that an area is placed under the control of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. It is usually imposed when the government or civilian authorities fail to function effectively. The reason behind the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines was to suppress a series of bombings, threat of a communist takeover, and an assassination attempt on Secretary of Defense Juan Ponce Enrile in Mandaluyong. This was also imposed to save the republic and to improve the social, economic, and political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, these good gains did not last long. Basic human rights were not attained during the Martial Law. People at that time did not practice being disciplined at that time, but instead, they followed orders because they feared the authorities who had the power to arrest civilians who would disobey the rules. With power given to the military to save democracy, they committed a number of human rights violations. An estimate of 7,000 victims of torture, 2,000 people salvaged, and 1,000 people disappeared. (Malanes, 1999) Statistics are not just numbers. This was a serious case of human rights violation wherein thousands of lives were lost and thousands of families destroyed. Thus, the Martial Law is considered as the darkest days of democracy. Human rights violations is the best evidence that there was no democracy in the Philippines during Ferdinand Marcos regime. Additionally, the economic crisis and debt crisis caused by the Martial Law made the country suffer. Unemployment rates were high and poverty in the Philippines only grew larger. • 9. Narcissus Scryer Based on this description, Ovid s Narcissus effectively appears to demonstrate these specific characteristics of the scryer and the scrying process as Nelson outlines them. Just as the scryer was predominantly a young and bodily pure boy, Ovid describes Narcissus as being sixteen years old and a virgin untouched by the Legions of lusty men and bevies of girls that desired him (Ovid Metamorphoses 3.351 353). He is also described as a paradigm of beauty equal to that of the gods of Apollo of Bacchus (Dionysus): he saw twin stars [...] rippling curls like the locks of a god, Apollo or Bacchus, [...] a glorious face (Ovid Metamorphoses 3.421 423). • 10. Pardon of Richard Nixon Controversial Pardon of Richard Nixon HIST102 American History Since 1877 Instructor: 22 February 2014 Former President Richard Nixon is most well known for his role in the Watergate crisis in the early 1970 s. The Watergate crisis started in June of 1972, when the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters was broke into by members of Nixon s re election committee. The press took this breaking news and began to dig deeper into what the Whitehouse (President Nixon) was hiding. Over the next two years heavy investigations into the Watergate incident revealed that President Nixon did, in fact, ordered a cover up to keep the incident under control. Fearing impeachment, President Nixon resigned his presidency in August 1974, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, the controversy did not stop with whether or not the pardon was constitutional. Political arguments were by far more compelling than the constitutional arguments. Politically, Ford knew there would be loss in public standing, relations with Congress, and the Republican Party s fortunes in the 1974 elections. 12 However, he also realized that because of media publicity Nixon would not receive a fair trial. This is where the controversy begins. People, such as Firmage and Mangrum, argued that the law must be applied to all persons equally and no one, not even a public official be permitted to violate the laws with impunity. 13 What they failed to realize were the extreme circumstances in which Nixon fell under surrounding Watergate. As a former president Nixon was one of the most powerful figures in the world; the amount of bad publicity he received would not allow for a fair trial. Special Prosecutor Jaworski was a firm believer that this type of publicity would make innocent until proven guilty null and void if Nixon were to go to trial.14 Ford s choice to pardon Nixon prior to a trial was a well thought out plan of action given the circumstances. ... • 11. Relationship Between The Federal Government And The States The relationship between the Federal government and the states is well stable. The Federal government has powers given by the Constitution as well powers or privileges are given to the states which promotes a balance between the two so that our country is not ruled under one specific party or group. The question now is that, are the states rights more than well protected in the current constitution and the political practice. The Constitution is the structure of a political system. It establishes governmental bodies, grants powers, determines how to select members and impose rules by which they make the decisions. Therefore, the Constitution can t be changed by ordinary acts of governmental bodies. Along with the Constitution we have the Articles of Confederation. Under these Articles congress was a single house where each state had 2 to 7 members but only one vote. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To summarize, there have been times throughout journalistic history when deception and taking sides was acceptable, but objectivity and responsibility were largely considered to be professional standards as we entered the 21st century. Deontology and Utilitarianism Of the many methods for applying ethical theories to war reporting, I narrowed the choice down to Deontology and Utilitarianism as referenced in the introduction. Deontology involves applying a universal set of principles (Jordin 2009, p. 15) . . . which makes the duty or the obligations we owe other human beings the fundamental principle of ethics. Doing our duty is not based on a particular set of circumstances. Since acts are judged only by their consequences, the means justify the ends.
  • 14. Utilitarianism is defined by the consequences of actions, not the act s moral or intrinsic value. Jordin (2009, p. 17) states, Where deontological theories thus talk more in terms about what is right, consequentialist theories are more concerned with the good. Moral worth is determined by its ability to produce the most amount of good for the greatest number. Here, the ends justify the means. How can these two standards help answer our ethical dilemma? We can answer this question by examining a few cases from the current Iraq conflict and others. Ethical Dilemma: Should reporters ever leak and/or publish classified information in ... Women in men gender roles are not at all such a horrendous idea. In some cases, jobs traditionally performed by men, were done better by female employees but some some careers are specifically meant for men. Women should not take part in military combat or any career that carries the same physical demands. Here are two examples accompanied by arguments an evidence that argue the above statement. In this film a team of astronauts is forced to make a decision that leaves one of their own behind. During a violent storm, while on Mars, commander Lewis (Jessica Chastain) is forced to leave one of her astronauts when Mark Watney is struck by debris. He is presumed dead and is considered a great loss to NASA, the Nation. Soon enough headquarters discovers that Watney is alive and they begin to formulate a resupply and rescue mission. When NASA reveals to the Ares III crew that Watney is still alive, they are given the choice to retrieve Watney themselves. As the crew begins to work together to get Watney back, they run into vital issues that could cause theirs and Watney s death. To me the Greeks had the most unique gods, because they had many gods for many different things such as love, war, etc. The gods were almost like human beings as they interacted in the lives of the people they watched over and the people they cherished. The gods were said to have mixed with the humans to make half mortal and half immortal people, blessed with certain powers. The Greeks thought it was all right to love either sex, because they thought it was normal to share what they felt. One of the most famous tales is that of Hercules, as he is the son of Zeus and a mortal woman that Zeus seduced so he could have a son to be a hero. Hercules is the god of strength and courage, but he did not become a god right away, because the other gods would not except him, because he was made a god by the seducing of a woman. Zeus would change his form and shape, he would become a winged horse, or any animal, and he would appear as a young man with unbelievable looks. Aphrodite the god of love and a symbol of beauty would help people fall in love and help Zeus find young woman and man so he could have sex with either one. Hera was known to be jealous of all Zeus s fooling around so she would try to get him back, but Zeus did not care. The gods were great in stature and great in powers so they did not live in a heaven like the god we know of today, but they live on a mountain. Introduction Spatial cognition concerns the ability to acquire, organize, store and retrieve knowledge of spatial properties (e.g., location, distance, direction) in the complex environment in order to navigate and perceive location precisely (Allen et al., 1996; Hardiess et al., 1999). It is one of the most important abilities that animals and humans have to help them adapt and survive in the world. For example, identifying food location, wayfinding, perceiving scenes are all based on this ability. For many years, elegant behavioral, neurobiological and neuropsychological methods have been used to investigate the spatial behavior of human and non human species (Denis Loomis, 2007). In this essay, I am going to talk about how different neuroscientific approaches contribute to our understanding of neural bases of spatial cognition and their role in related processes. 2. Brain regions involved in spatial cognition and related processes Much studies using various methods, including single unit recordings, patient/lesion studies, non invasive brain imaging and brain interference studies, have been done to investigate neural mechanisms underlying spatial cognition. As results, researchers have found several brain regions involved in processing of spatial information, including parietal cortex and hippocampus (Burgess, Jeffery, O Keefe, 1999). Also, it is very important to know which reference frame is used when we discussing spatial functions of these brain regions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Spectrophotometric is a quick, reliable method that measures light in a quantitated way, ensuring that electromagnetic radiation may be absorbed by matter. In order to understand how radiation is absorbed you ll need to know that it depends heavily on the concentration of the wavelength and the absorbing chemical within a sample. In this experiment, we will be exploring the iron tablet that will be dissolved in acid so that it can cause reduction transformation into Fe2+ using hydroquinone, and turned up using o phenathroline to create a colored complex. We will then use those reagents to begin our procedure to sum up with our finish results. The finish results of each sample solution (ranging in different mL ranges) will be measured by light absorbency using 508nm wavelength. Understanding Beer s Law, we know that A=ɛbc with A equaling the absorbency, ɛ is the molar absorptivity (M 1cm 1), b being the pathlength measured using cm, and c is the molar concentration of a solution. Ray Bradbury creates a futuristic world that is meant to make the reader examine their own world more closely. This book is an allegory about the dangers of societal censorship and technology. The author uses symbolism and imagery to enhance the allegory s hidden meaning. This allegory touches on issues so poignant that they are still as relevant today as they were in their own time. An allegory is a story that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning. This narrative strategy is used commonly by authors today but has been around for centuries. It is a useful technique to persuade the reader to think outside the box. The reader must see the story itself and also it s hidden intent. In previous studies, they found that these birds learn to sing through error related negativity in ventral tegmental area (VTA) neurons (Gadagkar et al., 2016). Methods To test their hypothesis, they first recorded VTA neurons of zebra finches while listening to distorted or undistorted songs (Gadagkar et al., 2016). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Analysis This article by Gadagkar et al. (2016) is important to the literature as it introduces a marriage between two concepts of classical ethology and comparative psychology biological underpinnings and learned behaviour. Bird song clearly has a biological basis, as shown in the similar activation of VTAerror neurons to reward prediction (Gadagkar et al., 2016). However, it also has a learning component, as shown through the performance evaluation mechanisms (Gadagkar et al., 2016). Thus, it is essential in showing that there is no one basis to behaviour. Tinbergen s Four Questions Tinbergen came up with four essential questions to help comparative psychologists and ethologists study animal behaviours. He discovered that both fields were essentially studying the same concepts, but were studying different causes. These questions were later defined as proximate and ultimate questions. The ultimate questions concerned the long term evolution of the genes of an organism, such as questions of function or evolution. Meanwhile, proximate questions were concerned with the causes of short term behaviour, such as immediate causation and development. In the Gadagkar et al. (2016) study, the researchers were concerned with the immediate causation, or the encoding of performance error in singing birds. Their question, consistent with immediate causation as it dealt with one behavior in the short term and the mechanisms behind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Early in the 1900s, a surge of Mexicans immigrated to the U.S., and the marijuana they brought with them was quickly associated with them. In the 1930s, tensions between white Americans and Mexican immigrants were heightened due to the Great Depression, and the use of marijuana was ultimately prohibited for the general public in 1937 with the Marijuana Tax Act ( Marijuana Timeline ). By the 1960s, marijuana became a symbol of counterculture, and the government stopped any research involved with its properties. Studies by the British Medical Association and World Health Organization have concluded that medical marijuana could be used to treat symptoms of certain diseases (Koch). Due to the extensive testing that these two organizations did and the fact that they are very reputable, there is enough evidence that medical marijuana should be used to help patients. Since marijuana is readily available, and there is research to confirm its medical uses, there is no reason not to use it. The IOM concluded that, among other things, the use of medical marijuana would not increase recreational usage rates of marijuana (Koch). Since this organization is clearly reputable, there is enough evidence that the legalization medical marijuana wouldn t affect the general population s use of marijuana in any way. Since DuPont also didn t provide any evidence for his claim, it can be dismissed. Due to the evidence provided, it is clear that marijuana has positive health benefits. In addition, marijuana should be legalized because its illegalization ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gender discrimination was a major thing in the past, and is still a major thing today. Men continually think women are weak, and so women are targeted more in crimes. They also think that women won t stand up for themselves, and women continually let men bring them down because they aren t brave enough. In jobs they believe women won t work, and that women aren t capable enough to do the job, so women end up getting paid less or have to work ridiculously short hours. Today in our century, women are targeted more than men because they are considered weak. Being labeled weak makes women are more vulnerable to at least one form of abuse. 1 in 3 women are abused in some form at a time of their life by a man. Women are targeted for crimes, such as home break ins, because if they live on their own, they are thought to not be able to defend themselves that well. Women are also being killed all the time. In India, women are burned to death if they can t meet financial requirements, while men aren t. In Egypt, women are killed if they do something considered unclean in their family or outside their family.
