Compare And Contrast The Reign Of Terror Dbq
Will Regan 10/26/15
Dr. Carroll
DBQ 1
Where there is little or no public opinion, there is likely to be bad government, which sooner or later
becomes autocratic government (William Lyon Mackenzie King). In 1793, Maximilien Robespierre,
head of the Committee of Public Safety, took over the unmanned French government. His ruling
consisted of killing anyone that thought of enlightenment ideals or ill of him. Running as a dictator for
only less than a years worth of time, Robespierre caused the Reign of Terror, a time where around
40,000 individuals who were rather innocent were killed for having slightly different ... Show more

First, Robespierre declared, Terror the order of the day (Document B). This declaration was a start to
Robespierre s idea of killing all traitors and enlightenment idealists. When one does not commit to
listening to the ideas of every person, problems and conflict emerge, thus his ideas did not end in
rejoice. Robespierre also didn t recognize people that had other ideals as citizensa citizens in the
Republic but the republicans (Document G). His quote means that conservatives will be the only ones
receiving the perks of being a citizen. Robespierre tried to make the country united in thinking, but
when civilians didn t agree with his ideas, he simply killed them, which is inhumane and unjustified in
almost any case. Killing people doesn t solve any problems as more people will take their place.
Robespierre didn t understand the gruesome immorality of killing as 16,000 people were guillotined
during the Reign of Terror (Document F). Executing in large amounts to prove a point isn t a fantastic
deal breaker to anyone. These examples prove the Reign of Terror was unreasonable as he did not
listen to the overwhelming majority of the people and ended up massacring them to solve

Youth and baby boomers will aim to stay fit, supporting demand for gyms and health clubs
Still, the industry has not been completely recession proof. In 2008 and 2009, demand for gyms and
health clubs weakened as consumers cut back on discretionary spending. However, compared with
other industries, the Gym, Health and Fitness Clubs industry has remained remarkably resilient, as
increased leisure time and boosts in health and morale from exercise have kept the industry highly
competitive. Gyms and health clubs have broadened
their markets and are offering value to gym goers in a bid to retain membership numbers throughout

Imagery In Poetry
Imagery within Poetry Imagery is a vital element to poetry, not only does it portray a literal image, but
also helps amplify the emothions within the poem. In poems such as, The Widow s Lament in
Springtime, the strongest emotion conveyed seems to be acceptance with a bit of sadness. This will be
shown in four different examples that almost follow the path of grieving to acceptance and finally
release. In opening of the poem, the first line from the speaker is as follows, Sorrow is my own yard...
(Williams 1). This line immediately sets a tone of sadness over the poem. With sorrow being a strong
word for sadness, it almost prepares the reader to look at the poem from a darker standpoint rather
than if the opening word was happiness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As seen, Thirtyfive years I lived with my husband (Williams 7 8). With the wording being in past
tense, it can only be assumed that the speaker s husband has passed and that the sorrow is actually
grief. The next couple of lines are described with more fiery and bright colors, in a way showing the
brightning of the speaker s attitude. As stated, The plumtree is white today with masses of flowers.
Masses of flowers load the cherry braches and color some bushes yellow and some red but the grief in
my heart is stronger than they for though they were my joy formerly, today I notice them and turned
away forgetting (Williams 9 19). These sentences are a great example of how imagery not only creates
the image but also emphasizes the emotion within the poem. As a reader it is easily seen that the
speaker is still having an internal battle between their depression and acceptance. As the speaker
begins seeing things more bright and lively their grief is overshadowing connecting anything with
positive thoughts, but what s different is the speaker has turned away in an attempt at letting go. Next,
the speaker introduces their son which in a way changes the mood of the poem with the innocence of
the child. As seen, Today my son told me that in the meadows, at the edge of the heavy woods in the
distance, he saw trees of white flowers. I feel that I would like to go there and fall into those flowers
and sink into the marsh near them (Williams 20 29). It is interesting how the son also notices the white
flowers that the speaker connected earlier with their sorrow. This is where the reader learns that the
tone of the poem was not that of sadness but one leading to acceptance in the

Introduction
12 Angry Men , the movie that is revolved around the trial of the murder case, has different characters
from different backgrounds as the jurors. In this report, the communication styles of those people are
going to be discussed. They are examined based on their behaviours, languages or gestures.
Juror #1
Among all the Jurors, juror #1 excels at listening skill the most. Seeing his attitude towards
communication, he seems to try to be open to others without biases. This can be seen when he ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As it is pointed out by juror #8 in the end, his perception regarding father and son is dictated by the
experience in the intense relationship between him and his son and it hinders him to see the defendant
and the victim from the objective perspective. The fact that the victim is the defendant s father
strengthens his perception preventing him from listening to others. It even brings him a fear as if it
meant that he is beaten by his own son. Also, his short temper sometimes causes him to throw harsh
comments at recipients before thinking over and it puts him in the serious position in the
communication which is irreversible. He might think he can correct others opinions that are opposed
to him by showing his anger as he might do at work as a boss of more than 30 employees.
Nonetheless, those habits of his keep him from the healthy communication and he fails to convince the
other jurors losing his allies.
Juror #4
Juror #4 is very aware of how communication works and how he can be more persuasive as a sender.
He can handle the tones, body language and time in his speech in the most effective way to convey his
message. His well tailored suits are credited to elevate his credibility too. As well as making use of his
speech skill, He eliminates slangs and slurs that could fail the communication he is involved and
carefully selects the words to say not to offend the audience. It is observed when he talks about the
defendant s terrible background. Building up the

The Sin Of Ham Recorded Essay
The sin of Ham recorded in Genesis 9:20 24 has different views including voyeurism, castration, and
paternal incest. Scholars Bergsma and Hahn have come up with the maternal incest view from their
study of specific words related to the account. The first part of this paper will focus on Bergsma and
Hahn s word study to indicate that their maternal incest view is a viable option. The second part of the
paper will focus on the word bara (to create) in the Hebrew Bible. This word will be examined to
articulate the different usages and meanings of the word. Therefore, this paper will focus on the
importance of word study to show that words are of critical importance in understanding the meaning
of the Hebrew Bible in specific contexts.
Genesis 9:20 24 Ham s Sin There are different views concerning Ham s sin recorded in Genesis 9:20
24. The traditional views include voyeurism, castration, and paternal incest. Bergsma and Hahn have
introduced another view known as the maternal incest view. Bergsma and Hahn have made a
persuasive argument that states Ham s sin was not incest with his father, but that he had sexual
incestual relations with his mother. This conclusion has been made from the idiomatic meaning of the
phrase 讘讗 转讜专注 讛讗专 to see the father s nakedness (v. 22). The paternal incest view equates
Leviticus 20:17, to uncover nakedness as a euphemism for sexual intercourse. The conclusion is then
drawn that Ham s sin of seeing his father s nakedness must mean he had

The Quest For A Solution
Ten thousand years earlier, a meteor has struck planet Ethnos and the resulted impact killed almost all
its inhabitants. A few monkeys, which were near a cave, managed to run inside and luckily become
saved with the entrance of the cave collapsing and blocking the entrance to tsunamis and other
flooding. Several generations of these monkeys live happily together in the dark under the warmth of a
nearby volcano until they were able to get out of the cave and started a different journey with a blue
sun on the horizon. Now Brown and yellow, the monkeys never realized that they shared common
ancestry and their skin color was a result of their respective habitat inside the cave. They went on with
their life building different cities on this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like a plague ravaging their planet, this epidemic has been decimating all the cities on planet Ethnos
and now it was the turn of their village and their family. Concerned by the look on her mother s face,
Error tries to understand what is going on and ask her mom about the tense atmosphere in the village
and her dismal facial expression.
Iwant started recounting to her one year old girl the complicated story of their species. She began with
the meeting of the queens in which she learned about her fate as a female monkey. She said: once
every year following the last meteor catastrophe, monkey has been meeting regularly on a special
occasion to commemorate the event and learn about the skills they need to master in order to survive
and also to prepare the next generation; the meeting of the queen. She added: we have met several
groups of monkeys in that setting. One group instructed me about the first time brown monkeys and
yellow ones have met coming out of the same cave. Another group talked to me about why brown skin
monkeys were the superior monkey among all and all the privileges they were granted in their society.
They also explained to me, she exclaimed, how male monkeys were indolent, lazy, good for nothing
and were only capable of doing sexual intercourse. One older female added that these males
represented a waste in our community and only a few of them had enough strength to get a female
monkey pregnant. At this point she became really agitated and shouted

The Theory Of Transformational Leadership
The theory of transformational leadership is compelling and exciting. In our text, Leadership: A
Communication Perspective, we read that the idea of transformational leadership was developed into a
theory in the 1970 s by James MacGregor Burns; Burns saw transformational leadership as a more
complex and potent form of management than mere transactional leadership (Hackman Johnson,
2013). Transactional leadership simply offers a traditional model of leading and following. Within this
model, leaders offer to meet a follower s basic needs, and provide reward in exchange for effort.
Transactional leaders see a work day as a series of transactions between themselves and their
followers, and a manager s most important function is to maintain the status quo (Hackman Johnson,
2013). On the other hand, transformational leaders offer their followers the opportunity to become
leaders by inspiring, empowering, and nurturing them. In these pages, we will explore how
transformational leadership theory could provide a dynamic roadmap for a century old business as it
evolves and transforms to meet new needs.

Undocumented Child Essay
The number of undocumented immigrants in the United States has increased since 1990 and has
expanded between 2000 and 2010 (Skivens, 2011). Immigrants from Mexico along with their children
have sought out refuge here in Texas. The migration of these Mexican immigrant children has created
a major challenge for Texas school system and child welfare worker s. Due to this overwhelming
growth there have been many changes in immigration laws. However, policies regarding the control of
undocumented migration have had little effects on these undocumented children and their access to
social rights (Gonzales, 2009).
By law undocumented children can attend k 12 education. These students still face severe challenges

While the undocumented students are now being welcomed into our public school system, how
difficult will the transition from undocumented child to undocumented adult? Research shows that
almost one third of the immigration population in America is undocumented (Gonzales, 2009). Every
year over 60,000 undocumented students graduate from the United States public school system. This
is where a major problem arises. Post secondary education is almost unattainable for these students.
The inability to legally work or obtain financial assistance for school in most states makes higher
education unattainable Policy makers against allowing college admission to these students believe the
post secondary education system will be overwhelmed. Those pro higher education for the
undocumented suggest that denying the students an education could potentially hurt the economy.
Also it denies the workforce access to skilled and professional workers. This major road block has
been a topic for discussion among researchers and policy makers for quite some time. The Illegal
Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act allows the states discretion to allow or restrict
undocumented student s admission to post secondary

Anthropology Personal Statement
I am applying to pursue a graduate degree in anthropology for multiple reasons. The main reason is
that I very much want to pursue a career in anthropology, specifically archaeology. It is something I
am very passionate about and wish to delve into. My passion has only grown as I continue to get more
experience in the field. I am also very avid about learning in general. My lifelong goal has been to
learn as much as I possibly can. Both going back to school in general and specifically for an
anthropology degree allow me to learn. Just going back to school will allow me to learn more about
the field. I will learn new information and develop new ways of seeking out information. Specifically,

Grease Movie Analysis
I watched the film Grease which was directed by Randal Kleiser. This film took place at Rydell High
which was full of fun, crazy students. In the beginning, Sandy Dumbrowski who was the new girl in
school arrives at school. She explains how over the summer she and a boy named Danny Zuko had a
brief love affair. However, it turns out he is a leader of a greaser gang, the T Birds. Sandy tells her new
classmates about how sweet Danny was and how he was different from other boys, but she doesn t
know that he lies and make stories up about their relationship to his friends. From watching the film,
you can easily tell that the kids at Rydell High have to deal with many issues. Some of the issues
would be having relationship issues, teen pregnancy, dropping out of school, and friendship problems.
In the end, Sandy and Danny compromise their differences with each other and their friends and end
up being together and being happy. The medium of performance is film and the production company
of this film was RSO Records. In the film, there were many restored behaviors. Some of the restored
behaviors that I could identify were the characters going to school, gossiping, and having sex. Every
action that the characters did was a restored behavior because their actions were things that many high
school students do everyday. Another example of a restored behavior in the film could be when Danny
and Sandy went on a date and they ate at the diner. Eating is an action that is done by

Green Cities As A Pollution To The Green City
The urbanization which has been growing rapidly in the early twenty first century is going along with
the issues related to jobs, housing, transportation, and the polluted environment within urban areas. In
order to deal with those issues, green cities has been given as a great solution. Green city is a program
of building smart constructions and technologies that are friendly with the environment, and
establishing the smart growth policies to resolve the economic, social, and as well as environmental
issues in the city. There are some opinions claimed that green cities should not be developed due to the
high cost and negative environmental effects. Despite those opposing opinions, green city would still
be an effective program for the sustainability of the city by creating more jobs, reducing traffic
congestion, and protecting the environment. While the cities officials are considering whether they
should establish the policies of building green cities, there are some opinions that oppose the program.
For example, a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, Randal O Toole, claims that public transportation
especially the rail transit has some limitations since it requires high cost of making rail cars to make
sure they are safe and the high cost of building more rail lines. Therefore, it would be hard for a city to
develop the public transportation system if it cannot afford the funding. Another problem comes with
the green cities is that it might cause some negative effects

Freewill In A Clockwork Orange And The Matrix
In the novel A Clockwork Orange by Burgess and the film The Matrix directed by the Wachowski
Brothers, various techniques are employed to examine freewill. Juxtaposition and the storyline are
used to explore whether freewill is possible. To exhibit that freewill is important, the creators of both
texts utilise similes and irony. To demonstrate the consequences of freewill, dialogue, similes and
onomatopoeia are utilised by the creators.
The Wachowski Brothers and Burgess both consider whether freewill is possible through the use of
similes and irony. In A Clockwork Orange, Alex feels others around him are trying to take away his
freedom and control him. Therefore, he commits violent and immoral acts as to him, it is the only
choice not controlled by someone else. Burgess even describes the window of a law abiding citizen to

their freewill; as if they were in a jail, a place where freewill is lost. However, as Alex has based his
decision to misbehave on the fact that he wants freedom, in a way he has been controlled to misbehave
as something has influenced his opinion too and consequently, he loses his freewill also. Similarly,
Neo is given a choice between taking the red pill and finding out the reality of The Matrix or taking
the blue pill and returning to The Matrix oblivious to the truth. Even if Neo chose the blue pill, he
essentially has still made the choice to not have the truth and therefore leads to freewill. Likewise,
Alex is given the choice between serving his jail sentence of fourteen years or being released early on

American History Without A Mention Of Pennsylvania
Andrew Lee
Ms. Coulson
HIST012
December 17, 2014
Final Assessment It is nearly impossible to study American history without a mention of Pennsylvania.
The state is central in American history not only because of its location on the East Coast, but also for
the long duration of time that Europeans have inhabited Pennsylvania. Always central to early
American history, Pennsylvania was of the first American colonies, birthed many of the founding
fathers, and even housed Philadelphia, the first capital of the United States. Furthermore, Pennsylvania
had many of America s firsts, such as the first national bank and the first major road. Pennsylvania
was able to see much of the change that occurred throughout America s history and shared many ...

Penn was given 45,000 acres on the Delaware River and named it Pennsylvania, or Penn s Woods
after his father. Penn then migrated to the new land with a group of Quakers and started to build a
community. One of the many issues that early settlers like William Penn had to face was interactions
with the Natives of the New World. The differences between the Native Americans and the settling
Europeans were plentiful and great examples are conflicting religious views, social life, family values,
and sense of ownership. In fact, it was the latter that sparked multiple problems between the
colonizers and the native population. Though the European settlers would try to obtain land through
trade, the concept would be completely lost to the Native Americans, who had no sense of ownership.
Because of these differences in cultures, the groups soon clashed resulting in sorrow on both sides.
Primary Source Three is a letter by William Penn to the Native Americans who inhabit Pennsylvania.
The letter starts with the words My Friends, implying the friendly tone of the message and his desire
to coexist with the Native American population (Trent). In the first part of the letter, Penn thanks God
and credits God for his ability to come to America. This reaffirms the strong Quaker beliefs and their
thorough connotations throughout Pennsylvanian history. Penn then

There exists a consistent (conventional) Phillips curve despite some changes in monetary policy. This
Phillips curve is characterized by a negative relation between inflation and unemployment with the
latter leading the former by one year: UE(t 1) = 1.50蟺(t) + 0.116. Effectively, growing unemployment
has resulted in decreasing inflation since 1971, i.e. for the period where GDP deflator observations are
available. The relation between inflation and unemployment is statistically reliable with R2=0.86,
where unemployment spans the range from 0.01 to 0.12 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Estimates of the total labor force have been revised from 1987 on, based on census results, and show a
break between 1986 and 1987. Prior to 1984, annual data for the labor force are averages of monthly
and annual estimates supplied by German authorities.
Annual unemployment figures correspond to unemployed persons registered at the end of the month
of September of each year. From 1984, annual average figures are consistent in terms of methodology
and contents with the results of the annual European Labour Force Survey based on the national
Microcensus conducted once a year in April.

Therefore one might expect some breaks in linear relationships between the studied variables: labor
force, inflation, and unemployment. However, as shown in
Section 1, the Phillips curve for Germany demonstrates no breaks. The absence of any breaks
evidences in favor of general comparability of the measurements over time.
This paper is primarily aimed at revealing the generalized relationship between the change rate of
labor force level, inflation and unemployment in Germany. Also, individual relationships between the
change rate and inflation, and the change rate and unemployment are investigated.
These relationships allow answering fundamental
questions addresses in numerous studies of inflation and unemployment. For example,

A University s Ethics
As Americans look towards the idea of college today, some may agree that the overall goals of a
university have drastically changed since the popularity of higher education has increased. If one were
to ask the universities what their core values consist of, most institutions would boast about student
academics and growth being at the top of the list. As this response may ring true with most colleges in
the US, specifically smaller schools, the increase in funds for research and athletic programs have
seemingly overtaken the attention of larger, more competitive universities. Higher education has
become a more popular choice among ambitious adults, providing them an opportunity to move up in
the working world. Further, with this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Students, paying thousands of dollars a year to attend college, deserve to receive a decent education;
however, this is an ambiguous outcome when the professors are not being compensated as well as they
should be. The educators are delivering the actual learning work while most administrative positions
sit in an office all day and get paid more than twice as much for their labor.
The values surrounding university athletics have also become a controversial topic of interest among
Americans. Over the years, collegiate sports, especially football and basketball, have evolved into
commercialized teams around the country. Almost to the level of a professional team, college athletes
receive special treatment and an excess of benefits; one of the most significant benefits that most of
these athletes collect is free tuition. Depending on the school, colleges will additionally cover a
student s housing, dining, and supply fees; not to mention all of the free equipment that already comes
with being a college athlete. Derek Bok of the Princeton University Press writes an article about the
commercialization and corruption of college athletics, saying, Admissions offices are importuned to

Sophocles The Plight Of Oedipus s Reign
The Plight of Oedipus s Reign In the famous playwright, Sophocles Oedipus the King , a Greek
tragedy which explores the idea of destiny, Oedipus is a tragic hero, who, in the exploration of his
troubled past, discovers the truth of actions that render him guilty of the heinous crimes of murder,
and incest. Although Oedipus was not privy to the truth behind his actions, it does not make these
crimes any less unlawful, or unethical, proving that Oedipus is guilty of the murder of his father,
Laius, and of having an incestuous relationship with his mother, Jocasta. In The Oedipus Complex ,
Sigmund Freud argues that mankind is weak, and impotent , constantly struggling to satisfy the will of
the gods and accept their own flaws. (Freud 1381).

Syntax Stage Of Language Development Essay
As language continues to develop children reach the syntax stage of language development. At around
two years of age, toddlers begin to form short utterances of two to three words. This is referred to as
telegraphic speech (Hill, 2012) as they begin to extend on their expressive communication they build
on their ability to put words together to form meaning. As children learn to construct simple sentences
they often exclude words such as content words used to form grammatically correct sentences.
As language is guided through nature. A stimulating learning environment is beneficial as interaction
through group play encourages children to engage through interaction as they communicate with
others to discuss their plans, ideas, thoughts and understanding increasing their language development
(Fellows Oakley, 2014). Expressive language progresses as their sentences become more structured
improving verbal interaction. This occurs at around three years of age as children speak more fluently
and become better understood by others.
As children learn to communicate through each stage of language development they gain a better
understanding of the importance of expressing themselves through language. As children reach the
pragmatics stage of language development they begin to develop necessary skills to socially interact
with others. As they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Theseus And Palamon
Theseus, the leader of Athens, is going down a road and he sees four women crying on their knees. He
asks them why they are crying and they say that their husbands were killed at the siege of Thebes and
Creon, ruler of Thebes, would not let their husband s remains be recovered from the field (912 951).
He heard this and was so emotionally moved that he decided to march on Thebes and take back their
bodies. He lead his army to Thebes and captured Thebes. After the battle he saw two men from Thebes
who were barely alive named Arcite and Palamon. Theseus took them to his tent and had them healed

In communities across the nation, homeless adolescents under the age of eighteen are surviving on the
streets alone and afraid. The availability of homeless shelters, for this demographic, are few and far

women, pregnant women, women in crisis, homeless families and the general population

of a shelter, in the Fayetteville area, that offers services to homeless adolescents under the age of

How Does Death Affect Poe s Life
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary , a quote from Edgar Allan Poe s The
Raven. Poe, while he was alive, wrote many lines similar to this in his stories, always expressing
strong and horridly bad emotions. People might wonder why he wrote so much about things like
death, alcoholism and poverty. It was once said that an author s mind affects their writing, and a prime
example of this is how poe s life affected his writing themes. The first detail of how Poe s life
influenced his writing is the element of death in his stories. Death of loved ones is painfully obvious in
Poe s poem, The Raven, in which he states sorrow, for the loss of lenore . Lenore is symbolizing Poe s
wife, Virginia. She was one of many of poe s loved ones who had died of a common ailment at the
time, Tuberculosis. This disease had claimed Poe s brother, foster mother, as well as his
wife, consequently, he gave it it s own story, The Mask Of The Red Death. In this story, all the
characters die of the fatal illness the red death (another name for TB) and darkness and decay and the
red death held illimitable dominion over all . As he had been in the shroud of death most of his life, he
wrote about wondering what happened after it in The Facts In The Case ... Show more content on

This is perhaps most clear his story The Black Cat, in which he states for disease is like alcohol Both
Poe and the nameless narrator are alcoholics. Nevertheless, more subtle example in Poe s Works is in

he can be (unfortunately) chained up and put in a wall. As alcohol had such an influence on his life,
Poe put in a small reference for why he started drinking in The Raven, the narrator in the story asking
for respite and nepenthe . Nepenthe was a painkiller, representing using drugs to block out pain, only

Government s Involvement Of Government Security
In this day and age the internet has become a big part of our lives. The internet is now a medium that
connects millions of different people across the world in the matter of seconds. However, the vast sea
of communication and information that comes along with the internet is not a safe place. More and
more often we hear of a security breach within a major company or leaked information, from hackers.
Many people are questioning whether or not the government should get involved and regulate the
internet. However, people don t realize that the government s involvement might infringe on our
constitutional rights by censorship of information, invading privacy and the possibility of suppressing
our freedom of speech

Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech. Those are the words of the first

U.S civilians run the risk of losing many rights with government regulating the internet. For example

Google transparency report, a U.S. law enforcement agency asked Google to take down a blog that

Another separate and different law enforcement group asked Google to take down one thousand four

these requests come from countries you might not suspect, Western democracies not typically

Phineas Gage Dualism
In the discussion of the human mind and how it actually works, there are a few distinct philosophical
concepts that many believe to be an accurate diagnosis. Three of these views are Dualism,
Physicalism, and Functionalism. They each portray a different view on how the mind functions in
some cases physically or even mentally and separate from the actual human brain. perfect way to
exam these approaches is to take an in depth look at the interesting case of Phineas Gage. Gage, born
in 1823, was a railroad construction worker in the northeastern region of the United States. On
September 13th in 1848, Gage was working on a railroad project in the state of Vermont and was

These three Body Mind views present possible ways to examine the accident that Phineas Gage
suffered an entire change in personality from. Physicalism presents the best argument for explaining
the Gage case. If everything is physical it is certainly logical for the personality and thought processes
of a human to change after enduring an entirely physical injury. Physicalism suggests that everything
about human beings can be explained just by looking at the pure physical processes of the body and
specifically the brain, so clearly it presents a sound argument for why Gage endured such a drastic
change in who he actually was. Gage according to dualism may have had the same mind, but
according the physicalism certainly did not have the same brain and therefore, to quote his coworkers,

The European Union And Domestic Legal Systems And The...
The concern here was that the lawyers do not have any certifications, schooling, or experience in
judging cases. In the new ICS proposal there are changed made, as EU Commissioner Cecilia
Malmstrom explains:
the judges will be publically appointed in advance. And, like in courts, you won t be able to choose
which judges hear your case. Furthermore, we will guarantee there is no conflict of interest. Again,
like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which
might interfere with their judicial functions. Finally, I want to introduce an Appeal Tribunal. Just like
in domestic legal systems and the World Trade Organization. (Malmstrom)
This change in the appointment of judges could mean that the public opinion in a case could be more
weighted by shifting the power from the companies to the international system. The European Union
brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much discussion
about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. Especially for high developed countries
there might be less reason for an Investor State court since their court systems are already able to
make unbiased decisions. European commissioner on Trade, Rupert Schiegelmig, responded to this
argument in a debate about the new ICS. Schiegelmich explained that even though these court systems
are highly developed, it is very hard to completely eliminate national bias. He adds to that that

However, Machen never identified himself as a fundamentalist because he would not embrace things
such as premillennialism and the anti intellectual attitude of traditional fundamentals.(Piper)
In 1929, Princeton Seminary was beginning to sway toward liberal theology, which Machen opposed.
In response to the changes at Princeton, Machen went on to found Westminster Theology Seminary in
order to continue reformed orthodox theology. Later, in 1933, Machen , along with seven others, were
suspended from the Presbyterian ministry. They went on to leave the Northern Presbyterian Church
and founded the Orthodox Presbyterian church. Only a few years later, in 1937, Machen died at age
56. even though he died rather young, Machen helped shape the conservative movement against
Modernists without being a true fundamentalist. His books, sugh as his textbook on New Testament
Greek, are still used today in modern seminaries. (Haykin)
Machen s thoughts about society and Christianity can be found in many of his own books. The book I
found most useful was entitled What is Faith?. Unlike fundamentalists, Machen believed that
education was highly important in society; yet, he still thought that the most significant part of
Christianity was not throught the church or school. In the introduction of what is Faith? Machen

The Consequences Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase set a dangerous precedent as the President of the United States, Thomas
Jefferson and Congress ignored the constitution when agreeing to purchase the territory. This purchase
of land violated the limitations that Thomas Jefferson and Republicans had fought for while the
Federalist party was in control of the Presidency and Congress. However, the political climate of
France, Spain and the United States set the stage for Jefferson to violate his strict constructionist
beliefs, to allow the Louisiana Purchase.
The Louisiana Purchase was the agreement to purchase the land west of the Mississippi River but east
of the Rocky Mountains, and from the Canada Lake of the Woods in the north to the Gulf of Mexico
in the south. This purchase would eventually lead to the formation of part or all of fifteen states. The
agreement was between France and the United States of America.
At one time this land had been under the control of Spain following the French and Indian war, but
France ceded the land to Spain for payment of debts for the war. For approximately thirty years Spain
did very little to develop Louisiana. In 1801 Spain signed a secret treaty to return the Louisiana
Territory back to France, in exchange for Napoleon s promise to give the Spanish royal family rule
over Tuscany. For reasons of his own, Napoleon, the leader of France, in 1803 offered to sell the land

The public would not know of this agreement until the end of 1917, only three weeks after the Balfour

Taking a Look at Quantitative Easing
During the financial crisis in 2008, the Central Banks (CB) tried to repair the economy by setting in
action an open market operation (OMO). An OMO is where the CB buys short term bonds to increase
the money supply. The CB s across the globe had to use a monetary policy instead of a fiscal policy,
partly due to countries sovereign debt problems . The CB s were buying short term bonds until the real
interest rate fell to zero. When the real interest rate fell to zero it created liquidity trap. And CBs had to
look to unconventional monetary policies to create a higher output. This paper will seek to answer if
unconventional monetary policies, specifically quantitative easing (QE), were effective on the
economy or not. First, this paper will explain what liquidity trap and how it is relevant. Second, it will
explain how QE work. Third, it will conclude if QE were effective or not. To question whether QE
were effective or not it will use the American economy. This paper will illustrate liquidity trap and QE
by using the models: MS MD, IS LM and AS AD. Liquidity trap is when short term interest rate on
short term bonds falls close to zero or zero and OMO has no affect on the interest rate. When the
interest rate are close or at zero, the demand curve is flat or very elastic, so an increase in the money
supply will not have any affect on the interest rate. The demand curve for money is flat because
people are anticipating a deflation or any negative shock to the economy, and

The Republican Platform
The Republican platform discusses several elements that are in contrast with the TDP. The subject of
school choice is described as the ability to allow parents to choose their children s school. The use of
educational funds would be given to use in public, private, charter, or for home schooling. The school
choice is proposed to by funded by tax credits and or exemptions.
One founding principle that is listed in the platform is that separation of the public facilities at schools
be only used for biological genders, this falls in line with the Judeo Christian Principles that are
continually mentioned within the platform. An intense sense of faith and government is seen
throughout the Republican Party platform document. In addition, there is ... Show more content on

In unison, both Democratic and Republican Party s discuss the need to reinstate the Glass Stegall
banking reform of 1931, which separated the commercial and investment banking industries.
Texan, either Democrats or Republicans can be united under what is considered The American and
Texan Creed. This is the Political values that united us in the state. There are various elements that
make up our values, equality, freedom, consent of the governed, and capitalism. Texans fit into an
even more specified list of values, we can analyze this by what is called The American and Texas
Creed of Individualism, Liberty, Equality, Constitutionalism, Democracy. All aspects can be viewed in
varying elements of both the Republicans and Democratic platforms. Individualism is mentioned in
our political ideologies as being an element that is reflective of the ideas of Libertarians and
Conservatives, but this element is part of the Texan Creed. It is this variant in values that gives Texas
its political environment. This value is listed in both party platforms and can be viewed throughout it

The Devil In The White City
The nonfiction novel The Devil in the White City written by Erik Larson primarily takes place in
Chicago between the years 1890 1893. This novel tells the story of Daniel Burnham, an architect in
charge of building the Chicago World s Fair, and H.H. Holmes, a serial killer who uses the fair to lure
his victims. This novel has two major story arcs, one revolves around Daniel Burnham and the other
revolves around H.H. Holmes. Burnham s story explains how he strived to build the fair, Holmes story
tells how he began killing and how far it escalated. These characters are considered the protagonists of
the novel because they are effected by each event mentioned throughout the story. Both story arcs
describe all of the obstacles they faced as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These men would do anything to succeed. However, Burnham utilized his skills with good intentions,
to create the World s Fair, whereas Holmes utilized his skills with a cruel motive, to manipulate young
women and commit crimes such as insurance fraud and murder. Similarly, both men were handsome,
had vivid blue eyes, and great charm which enticed many people. Despite this, their personalities
differed, Burnham was loyal and trustworthy, while Holmes was deceitful. This is shown through their
relationships. Burnham had close friends such as John Root, and he stayed faithful to his wife
Margaret. Holmes restrained from letting anyone become close so they wouldn t learn about his
crimes, additionally he had multiple wives whom he never divorced before marrying another.
Furthermore, decisions that Burnham made when creating the fair were beneficial to the people
around him. For example, the fair created jobs, gave people hope, and improved Americas reputation.
Holmes made decisions that were beneficial only to himself and harmful to others, such as
manipulating people, committing insurance fraud, and murdering young women. After analyzing these
men, it is clear that Burnham represents the good in the world, while Holmes represents the

Types Of Relationships Between Parents And Adolescents
Types of relationships. There are different types of relationships between adults and adolescents and
they all have different dynamics. Miller Day discussed four different types of relationships between
parents and adolescents. Although they were discussed as parent adolescent relationships, these types
of relationships can also exist between school counselors and adolescent students. Miller Day
described laissez faire, consensual, pluralistic, and protective relationships. These types of
relationships all differ in their combination of conversation orientation and conformity orientation.
Laissez faire relationships have low conversation and low conformity, consensual relationships have
high conversation and high conformity, pluralistic relationships have high conversation and low
conformity, and protective conversations have low conversation and high conformity (2008).
Awareness of the different types of relationships is important because it determines how an adolescent
receives a message from an adult. Conversation orientation refers to the amount of discussion on a
subject and the amount of individual input. Conformity orientation refers to the amount of conformity
required in a relationship and often results in a because I said so type of attitude. The way a decision is
come to the message of an expectation is relayed will affect the feelings that come from it. View of
relationship. The way in which adolescents and adults view their relationship with one another has

The Validity Of Social Exchange Theories
Social Exchange theory Theories are defined as a belief, policy, or procedure proposed or followed as
the basis of action (Theory, n.d.). The theory that I researched is the social exchange theory. Defined
as interpreting people s social interactions that are based on estimates of rewards and punishment. The
research indicates that the theory is valid. I will go further in to depth.
This theory is relevant in many peoples lives. Let me explain in a scenario. A man named Johnathan
was shopping for a graduation gift for his best friend Anna. He spent days trying to find a suitable gift
to give. After days, he finally found the perfect gift. The gift cost a lot of money to get and he felt
proud of it. Later, at graduation, he gave Ann the amazing gift, and wondered what he would get from
her. Ann pulled out a congratulations card and handed it to him. Even though he liked it, deep down he
had high expectations and in turn the payoff was low for him, causing him to have negative feeling
about the interaction. Social exchange theory can be explained in many ways, but this scenario
explained it well.
The social exchange theory s first major appearance in publication world came from John Thibault,
and Harold Kelly in 1952 ( Social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main critic to address the inaccuracy of this theory is Katherine Miller. In her publication in 2005
she proposed many objectives regarding the theory. Katherine Stated, Social Exchange theory assumes
that the intimacy achieved in relationships is linear in nature (SET, 2012, para.10). What does this
mean? Let me explain. Looking deeper into the research her issue is for the theory to be accurate,
certain social parameters need to be met. In Katherines words, she says that the theory needs to rely on
the openness of the social interaction to be accurate (SET, 2012, para.10). Does Katherines article
regarding social exchange theory factual? Perhaps it is.

Iraq Human Rights Violations
In 1948 the United Nations established the United Declaration of Human Rights(UDHR). 70 years
later many countries continue to abridge these rules and deny the people the rights they deserve. For
over a year now Iraq has been denying its residents rights when pertaining to the court of law. It is
understandable that the Iraqi Government does not want other countries interfering with how they
handle their issues, but innocents, and wrongly convicted individuals, are being punished for things
they didn t do. Iraq s 10 minute trials are unjust and a violation of the people s human rights. Trials
being short and mainly directed towards foreigners, many of the more serious crimes are not being
noticed. Currently trials are only lasting about 10 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the cases that are brought up towards the court are foreigners from other countries. Margaret
Coker explains, What concerns me the most in these trials is that the system is fundamentally
prejudiced against foreign individuals... you are foreign, and you were in ISIS territory, there is no
need to provide more evidence (Coker, Para. 27). This is a violation of Article 2 of the UDHR, which
states that no one can have their basic human rights taken away due to race, sex, or cultural origin.
Other than cultural origin, race also been a determining factor in the trials. As said from Margaret
Coker, ...cases, individuals have been returned to their home countries, such as a group of four
Russian women and 27 children in February... (Coker, Para. 25). In this case the judge decided to hear
what the people had to say due to them looking European or American. The judge let the group of
Russians free instead of being sentenced to death like all of the others. This itself is also another
violation of Article 2 of the UDHR where people cannot be denied rights due to race. For over a year
now people are being tried unfairly in court and being denied basic human rights because of their skin
color or national

In the summer of 1973, Paul Allen, who knew more about computer hardware than
Bill Gates, shared an article with Gates buried on page 143 in Electronics
Magazine. The article described the invention of the 8008 micro processor chip by a young company
called Intel. Paul was surprised to receive the technical manual for the chip in the mail simply upon
request. Immediately, he went to work analyzing its capabilities. Due to the lack of transistors, the
8008 chip was very limited in its use, but Allen discovered despite the limitations, the chip was good
for repetitive tasks and mathematical data.
First Business Venture
When Paul Allen entered college at Pullman, Washington, a town on the east side of the state, sixteen
year old Bill Gates traveled frequently by bus to visit him. On these long trips across the state, Gates
wrote a program that facilitated the reading of traffic information gathered by municipalities through a
device set up on the side of certain intersections. A long, rubber tube stretched across the road from
one of these devices, and each time a vehicle ran over the tube a punch was made in the roll of paper
within the device. People

Water Consumption Report On Drinking Consumption
Water Consumption Report Student Reference (2137178F) Abstract Although a large majority of
planet Earth s surface comprises water, only a small percentage of it is in fact suitable for use. The
human population is growing rapidly and the demand for fresh water is steadily increasing. The aim of
this investigation is to measure personal water consumption over a period of three weeks and compare
the collected data with the average water consumption of individuals in countries at both ends of the
economic spectrum. The results of personal consumption show that over a one week period, an
average of 713.17 litres of water were consumed (discounting embedded water), which breaks down
to a daily average of 101.88 litres. Although this is lower than the average daily consumption of 150
litres for an individual in the UK , measures can be nevertheless be taken to reduce fresh water
consumption, such as placing bricks inside the toilet cistern, using the washing machine less often,
and using a weaker flow setting on the shower. Introduction Issues relating to water are increasingly
becoming a major global concern. The need for fresh water is fundamental to human life and an
increasing percentage of the global population do not have access to it. In 2011 the UN Secretary
General expressed how Safe drinking water and basic sanitation are intrinsic to human survival, well
being and dignity .) . However, with the global population on the increase, the demand for water and

Installing A High Price Tag
It s said that bathrooms and kitchens are what sell houses. This is in large part because renovations on
these rooms carry a higher price tag. Whether fixing up a kitchen to improve the sale price of a home
or remodeling to meet personal tastes, some smart shopping has the potential to save thousands while
still creating a high end look. Odd Lots and Closeouts As home d茅cor trends change, companies who
manufacture everything from light fixtures to floor tiles discontinue some merchandise to make way
for newer styles. Shopping for clearance prices on closeout items may garner savings of 75% or more
off of retail prices. Keep in mind that discontinued items are available in limited quantities. When
purchasing items such as wall coverings or floor coverings, take accurate measurements and be sure to
purchase enough to finish the entire job. Also remember that sales on discontinued items are often
final, so avoid purchasing in excess. As with fashion, home d茅cor lines usually introduce new styles
in the spring and fall. These time of year are prime times for closeout shopping. However, many home
improvement stores change their inventory throughout the year, marking items at clearance prices to
clear out shelf space for other products. Shopping frequently at many different stores will likely turn
up a wider array of products at the bet possible prices. Slightly Irregular Merchandise Companies that
sell high end merchandise put all products through rigorous quality control

  • 2. Compare And Contrast The Reign Of Terror Dbq Will Regan 10/26/15 Dr. Carroll DBQ 1 Where there is little or no public opinion, there is likely to be bad government, which sooner or later becomes autocratic government (William Lyon Mackenzie King). In 1793, Maximilien Robespierre, head of the Committee of Public Safety, took over the unmanned French government. His ruling consisted of killing anyone that thought of enlightenment ideals or ill of him. Running as a dictator for only less than a years worth of time, Robespierre caused the Reign of Terror, a time where around 40,000 individuals who were rather innocent were killed for having slightly different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, Robespierre declared, Terror the order of the day (Document B). This declaration was a start to Robespierre s idea of killing all traitors and enlightenment idealists. When one does not commit to listening to the ideas of every person, problems and conflict emerge, thus his ideas did not end in rejoice. Robespierre also didn t recognize people that had other ideals as citizensa citizens in the Republic but the republicans (Document G). His quote means that conservatives will be the only ones receiving the perks of being a citizen. Robespierre tried to make the country united in thinking, but when civilians didn t agree with his ideas, he simply killed them, which is inhumane and unjustified in almost any case. Killing people doesn t solve any problems as more people will take their place. Robespierre didn t understand the gruesome immorality of killing as 16,000 people were guillotined during the Reign of Terror (Document F). Executing in large amounts to prove a point isn t a fantastic deal breaker to anyone. These examples prove the Reign of Terror was unreasonable as he did not listen to the overwhelming majority of the people and ended up massacring them to solve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Imagery In Poetry Imagery within Poetry Imagery is a vital element to poetry, not only does it portray a literal image, but also helps amplify the emothions within the poem. In poems such as, The Widow s Lament in Springtime, the strongest emotion conveyed seems to be acceptance with a bit of sadness. This will be shown in four different examples that almost follow the path of grieving to acceptance and finally release. In opening of the poem, the first line from the speaker is as follows, Sorrow is my own yard... (Williams 1). This line immediately sets a tone of sadness over the poem. With sorrow being a strong word for sadness, it almost prepares the reader to look at the poem from a darker standpoint rather than if the opening word was happiness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As seen, Thirtyfive years I lived with my husband (Williams 7 8). With the wording being in past tense, it can only be assumed that the speaker s husband has passed and that the sorrow is actually grief. The next couple of lines are described with more fiery and bright colors, in a way showing the brightning of the speaker s attitude. As stated, The plumtree is white today with masses of flowers. Masses of flowers load the cherry braches and color some bushes yellow and some red but the grief in my heart is stronger than they for though they were my joy formerly, today I notice them and turned away forgetting (Williams 9 19). These sentences are a great example of how imagery not only creates the image but also emphasizes the emotion within the poem. As a reader it is easily seen that the speaker is still having an internal battle between their depression and acceptance. As the speaker begins seeing things more bright and lively their grief is overshadowing connecting anything with positive thoughts, but what s different is the speaker has turned away in an attempt at letting go. Next, the speaker introduces their son which in a way changes the mood of the poem with the innocence of the child. As seen, Today my son told me that in the meadows, at the edge of the heavy woods in the distance, he saw trees of white flowers. I feel that I would like to go there and fall into those flowers and sink into the marsh near them (Williams 20 29). It is interesting how the son also notices the white flowers that the speaker connected earlier with their sorrow. This is where the reader learns that the tone of the poem was not that of sadness but one leading to acceptance in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Sin Of Ham Recorded Essay The sin of Ham recorded in Genesis 9:20 24 has different views including voyeurism, castration, and paternal incest. Scholars Bergsma and Hahn have come up with the maternal incest view from their study of specific words related to the account. The first part of this paper will focus on Bergsma and Hahn s word study to indicate that their maternal incest view is a viable option. The second part of the paper will focus on the word bara (to create) in the Hebrew Bible. This word will be examined to articulate the different usages and meanings of the word. Therefore, this paper will focus on the importance of word study to show that words are of critical importance in understanding the meaning of the Hebrew Bible in specific contexts. Genesis 9:20 24 Ham s Sin There are different views concerning Ham s sin recorded in Genesis 9:20 24. The traditional views include voyeurism, castration, and paternal incest. Bergsma and Hahn have introduced another view known as the maternal incest view. Bergsma and Hahn have made a persuasive argument that states Ham s sin was not incest with his father, but that he had sexual incestual relations with his mother. This conclusion has been made from the idiomatic meaning of the phrase 讘讗 转讜专注 讛讗专 to see the father s nakedness (v. 22). The paternal incest view equates Leviticus 20:17, to uncover nakedness as a euphemism for sexual intercourse. The conclusion is then drawn that Ham s sin of seeing his father s nakedness must mean he had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Several generations of these monkeys live happily together in the dark under the warmth of a nearby volcano until they were able to get out of the cave and started a different journey with a blue sun on the horizon. She said: once every year following the last meteor catastrophe, monkey has been meeting regularly on a special occasion to commemorate the event and learn about the skills they need to master in order to survive and also to prepare the next generation; the meeting of the queen. She added: we have met several groups of monkeys in that setting. One group instructed me about the first time brown monkeys and yellow ones have met coming out of the same cave. Another group talked to me about why brown skin monkeys were the superior monkey among all and all the privileges they were granted in their society. They also explained to me, she exclaimed, how male monkeys were indolent, lazy, good for nothing and were only capable of doing sexual intercourse. One older female added that these males represented a waste in our community and only a few of them had enough strength to get a female monkey pregnant. • 10. The Theory Of Transformational Leadership The theory of transformational leadership is compelling and exciting. In our text, Leadership: A Communication Perspective, we read that the idea of transformational leadership was developed into a theory in the 1970 s by James MacGregor Burns; Burns saw transformational leadership as a more complex and potent form of management than mere transactional leadership (Hackman Johnson, 2013). Transactional leadership simply offers a traditional model of leading and following. Within this model, leaders offer to meet a follower s basic needs, and provide reward in exchange for effort. Transactional leaders see a work day as a series of transactions between themselves and their followers, and a manager s most important function is to maintain the status quo (Hackman Johnson, 2013). On the other hand, transformational leaders offer their followers the opportunity to become leaders by inspiring, empowering, and nurturing them. In these pages, we will explore how transformational leadership theory could provide a dynamic roadmap for a century old business as it evolves and transforms to meet new needs. Transformation Leadership as a Roadmap for Transition In addition to my role as an editor and writer for a non profit, I also run my own small business. Immigrants from Mexico along with their children have sought out refuge here in Texas. The migration of these Mexican immigrant children has created a major challenge for Texas school system and child welfare worker s. Due to this overwhelming growth there have been many changes in immigration laws. However, policies regarding the control of undocumented migration have had little effects on these undocumented children and their access to social rights (Gonzales, 2009). While the undocumented students are now being welcomed into our public school system, how difficult will the transition from undocumented child to undocumented adult? Research shows that almost one third of the immigration population in America is undocumented (Gonzales, 2009). Every year over 60,000 undocumented students graduate from the United States public school system. This is where a major problem arises. Post secondary education is almost unattainable for these students. The inability to legally work or obtain financial assistance for school in most states makes higher education unattainable Policy makers against allowing college admission to these students believe the post secondary education system will be overwhelmed. Those pro higher education for the undocumented suggest that denying the students an education could potentially hurt the economy. Also it denies the workforce access to skilled and professional workers. This major road block has been a topic for discussion among researchers and policy makers for quite some time. • 13. Grease Movie Analysis I watched the film Grease which was directed by Randal Kleiser. This film took place at Rydell High which was full of fun, crazy students. In the beginning, Sandy Dumbrowski who was the new girl in school arrives at school. She explains how over the summer she and a boy named Danny Zuko had a brief love affair. However, it turns out he is a leader of a greaser gang, the T Birds. Sandy tells her new classmates about how sweet Danny was and how he was different from other boys, but she doesn t know that he lies and make stories up about their relationship to his friends. From watching the film, you can easily tell that the kids at Rydell High have to deal with many issues. Some of the issues would be having relationship issues, teen pregnancy, dropping out of school, and friendship problems. In the end, Sandy and Danny compromise their differences with each other and their friends and end up being together and being happy. The medium of performance is film and the production company of this film was RSO Records. In the film, there were many restored behaviors. Some of the restored behaviors that I could identify were the characters going to school, gossiping, and having sex. Every action that the characters did was a restored behavior because their actions were things that many high school students do everyday. Another example of a restored behavior in the film could be when Danny and Sandy went on a date and they ate at the diner. Eating is an action that is done by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Green Cities As A Pollution To The Green City The urbanization which has been growing rapidly in the early twenty first century is going along with the issues related to jobs, housing, transportation, and the polluted environment within urban areas. In order to deal with those issues, green cities has been given as a great solution. Green city is a program of building smart constructions and technologies that are friendly with the environment, and establishing the smart growth policies to resolve the economic, social, and as well as environmental issues in the city. There are some opinions claimed that green cities should not be developed due to the high cost and negative environmental effects. Despite those opposing opinions, green city would still be an effective program for the sustainability of the city by creating more jobs, reducing traffic congestion, and protecting the environment. While the cities officials are considering whether they should establish the policies of building green cities, there are some opinions that oppose the program. For example, a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, Randal O Toole, claims that public transportation especially the rail transit has some limitations since it requires high cost of making rail cars to make sure they are safe and the high cost of building more rail lines. Therefore, it would be hard for a city to develop the public transportation system if it cannot afford the funding. Another problem comes with the green cities is that it might cause some negative effects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Freewill In A Clockwork Orange And The Matrix In the novel A Clockwork Orange by Burgess and the film The Matrix directed by the Wachowski Brothers, various techniques are employed to examine freewill. Juxtaposition and the storyline are used to explore whether freewill is possible. To exhibit that freewill is important, the creators of both texts utilise similes and irony. To demonstrate the consequences of freewill, dialogue, similes and onomatopoeia are utilised by the creators. The Wachowski Brothers and Burgess both consider whether freewill is possible through the use of similes and irony. In A Clockwork Orange, Alex feels others around him are trying to take away his freedom and control him. Similarly, Neo is given a choice between taking the red pill and finding out the reality of The Matrix or taking the blue pill and returning to The Matrix oblivious to the truth. American History Without A Mention Of Pennsylvania Andrew Lee Ms. Coulson HIST012 December 17, 2014 Final Assessment It is nearly impossible to study American history without a mention of Pennsylvania. The state is central in American history not only because of its location on the East Coast, but also for the long duration of time that Europeans have inhabited Pennsylvania. Always central to early American history, Pennsylvania was of the first American colonies, birthed many of the founding fathers, and even housed Philadelphia, the first capital of the United States. Penn was given 45,000 acres on the Delaware River and named it Pennsylvania, or Penn s Woods after his father. Penn then migrated to the new land with a group of Quakers and started to build a community. One of the many issues that early settlers like William Penn had to face was interactions with the Natives of the New World. The differences between the Native Americans and the settling Europeans were plentiful and great examples are conflicting religious views, social life, family values, and sense of ownership. In fact, it was the latter that sparked multiple problems between the colonizers and the native population. Though the European settlers would try to obtain land through trade, the concept would be completely lost to the Native Americans, who had no sense of ownership. Because of these differences in cultures, the groups soon clashed resulting in sorrow on both sides. Primary Source Three is a letter by William Penn to the Native Americans who inhabit Pennsylvania. The letter starts with the words My Friends, implying the friendly tone of the message and his desire to coexist with the Native American population (Trent). In the first part of the letter, Penn thanks God and credits God for his ability to come to America. This reaffirms the strong Quaker beliefs and their thorough connotations throughout Pennsylvanian history. Penn then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kitov Abstract Potential links between inflation, 蟺(t), and unemployment, UE(t), in Germany have been examined. There exists a consistent (conventional) Phillips curve despite some changes in monetary policy. This Phillips curve is characterized by a negative relation between inflation and unemployment with the latter leading the former by one year: UE(t 1) = 1.50蟺(t) + 0.116. Effectively, growing unemployment has resulted in decreasing inflation since 1971, i.e. for the period where GDP deflator observations are available. Poe, while he was alive, wrote many lines similar to this in his stories, always expressing strong and horridly bad emotions. People might wonder why he wrote so much about things like death, alcoholism and poverty. It was once said that an author s mind affects their writing, and a prime example of this is how poe s life affected his writing themes. The first detail of how Poe s life influenced his writing is the element of death in his stories. Death of loved ones is painfully obvious in Poe s poem, The Raven, in which he states sorrow, for the loss of lenore . Lenore is symbolizing Poe s wife, Virginia. She was one of many of poe s loved ones who had died of a common ailment at the time, Tuberculosis. Again, like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which might interfere with their judicial functions. The European Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. In 1920, two years after the end of WWI, the area which used to be the Ottoman empire was split into mandates, giving the British control over Palestine. During the 1930s the Nazis gained power in Germany, leading to big waves of Jewish immigration to Palestine, especially during times of Jewish persecution between 1933 and 1945. This period was marked by Palestinian uprisings against the British Mandate, and after the Second World War had commenced in 1939 also by Jewish resistance to the British. In 1947, two years after the Nazis had been defeated and WWII had ended, the British government handed the issue of the Palestinian future, which had seen Jewish mass migration during and after the war, to the United Nations, which voted the partition of Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state. An OMO is where the CB buys short term bonds to increase the money supply. The CB s across the globe had to use a monetary policy instead of a fiscal policy, partly due to countries sovereign debt problems . The CB s were buying short term bonds until the real interest rate fell to zero. When the real interest rate fell to zero it created liquidity trap. And CBs had to look to unconventional monetary policies to create a higher output. This paper will seek to answer if unconventional monetary policies, specifically quantitative easing (QE), were effective on the economy or not. First, this paper will explain what liquidity trap and how it is relevant. Second, it will explain how QE work. Third, it will conclude if QE were effective or not. To question whether QE were effective or not it will use the American economy. This paper will illustrate liquidity trap and QE by using the models: MS MD, IS LM and AS AD. Liquidity trap is when short term interest rate on short term bonds falls close to zero or zero and OMO has no affect on the interest rate. When the interest rate are close or at zero, the demand curve is flat or very elastic, so an increase in the money supply will not have any affect on the interest rate.
