1. Beach Picture Narrative: For this picture I used some tips from YouTube and Lynda for help. I
started out opening all three pictures I wanted to use on Photoshop. Then I went to image in the
top toolbar, and clicked image size to resize the ocean picture to make it bigger without looking
pixelated. Next, I opened the tab with the dolphin picture. Once there I went to the layer option
in the top toolbar and chose new layer from background, so that once complete I could drag the
image to ocean background. I used the marquee tool from the toolbar on the left to cut around the
dolphin’s body. Once the dolphin was selected, I right clicked and chose select inverse. This
selected the background of the image. After this was selected, I pressed the delete key on the
keyboard to delete the background. Then I right clicked again and deselected it. After that I used
the eraser tool on the toolbar to the left to touch up the rough edges of my dolphin. Next I went
back to my toolbar on the left and chose the select tool from the very top. Then I clicked and
dragged the dolphin over to my ocean layer, which caused it to display as a new layer. Once the
dolphin was on my background, I went to edit and chose free transform in order to resize the
dolphin. Then holding the shift key down, I used the mouse and corner edges to make the image
the size I wanted. By holding shift I prevented the image from becoming distorted. After that, I
repeated these steps with the sandcastle image. Once I free transformed the image I changed the
opacity to 68% for the sandcastle layer, using the opacity option on layers task bar. I did this so
that the color difference was not so distinct. I also used the layer styles button located at the
bottom of layers task bar to add an outer glow to the sandcastle, to make it appear as if the sun
were shining on it. Overall I think my image turned out nicely for first try but with experience I
am sure it would improve.
